"This hadn't happened in about seven years. And of course, the Bengals were always the Bangles. They can't even lose the game properly so that they pulled a Bengal with thehe Backup Bengal Place checker about debate the Bangles the left guard. Hold your water. Hold your water. A lot of guard moves. You know, I was said to hell with it. 65 63 yards trying to catch God King. What do we have to lose? And it could have made it. Maybe one out of 10. They want to give the ball back to the Bangles. They would've fumbled it anyway. So what difference? Um, let's talk about the red. Yes, Yes. Tell Mae Like two weeks ago, you might have been with me and I said they have to go nine and four to get there. I think they went 10 and three And there there and now their favorite and my many minds to beat Atlanta despite being a small, fair break it down Braves Reds Wednesday at noon. Let's Let's just talk about the last two weeks, which have been an immense amount of fun, and I'm the first to admit I wrote this team off a couple of different times. Not me, not you, and I talked often during the season, and it kind of felt like the the entire hopes of making the postseason. We're teetering on the brink. If they didn't win that game that night, or they didn't win this Siri's Things were going to slide a third game in ST Louis. The third game in ST Louis was the turning point, and this was a game that was played. I'm willing to bet that most Cincinnati sports fans we're not paying very close attention because that was Joe Burrows first game. But as Joe Burrow is taking the field for the first time ever, the Reds are losing 5 to 3 in the middle innings in ST Louis against the team that always beats them head to head in Siri's, the Reds had lost or split nine consecutive Siri's. And I remember I was that the Holy Grail get all these NFL games on and on one television, there's the Reds and I sort of remark to somebody. Lose this one year seven under shovel dirt on the coffin. As it turns out, they come back. They score seven times over the final four innings, win that game and then sweep the Pirates and what they did. If you look at it took him until Friday night to clinch. If you watch how everything played out Number one, they didn't back in number two. They operated these last two weeks, with no margin for error. Not just winning the game's but how they had to win them. Louise Casteel won a couple of games in which the offense really didn't support him that much. They had to win games where Michael Lorenzen was getting starts. Trevor Bauer goes out there on on Wednesday night of last week, and in a game that was a must win on three days. Rest goes eight innings. Strikes out 12 dudes and give up gives up just four hits, so this team is charging into the postseason. I think they have a puncher's chance for one simple reason, and I think everybody around the country is going to say the same thing. Bauer Castillo Gray. It is arguably the best trio of pictures the Reds have ever thrown at a team in a in a postseason series ever, ever. You've got Trevor Bauer, who stands a really good chance to be a Cy Young winner this year. Luis Castillo, who has a really good chance of winning that hardware one day, and Sonny Gray, who is the top of rotation starter for a lot of team. What about 1990? What about Rio Jackson? Armstrong? Very, very good. Jack Armstrong did not start a game in that. Seriously. Well, Browning started game number three, Mr. Perfect on DH. Those guys were really We good? Danny Jackson didn't have a great 1990. But he did pitch game to the World Series. Jose Rio was fantastic in terms of where these guys are right now. Ah, relative to other teams, starting rotations. This is as good as you're going to get now. This is going to be I think of all the Siri's. There's eight of them write three best of a best of three. Siri's. This is the most compelling one. Atlanta's offense is fantastic. Freddie Freeman is the best player in baseball that nobody talks about. His team finished one run worse than the Los Angeles Dodgers for most run scored in the National League. They get on base. They hit homeruns. They score in a variety of different ways. So you have great pitching. Whether we always say great pitching beats good hitting, as it does. If that's the case, the Reds have a really good chance of winning this series. How big is the game? If the Reds win noon, first pitch on Wednesday concluded probably about 4 30. These things take about 4 to 5 hours. What if the Reds win that game? Ah, other chances you have to love. They win that game, and now I come back at you and you've got to beat me twice and I can throw Castillo and graduate. I love my chances. I love my chance when they win this Siri's Did they then go to Houston, they would go to one of the two Texas cities. I think it's used. I think it's so there's not a chance at the grave believing that I talked to your friend Mike DeWine and I put a call in Duma said. Mike, Is there any way here's what I want to know. Failures? Good friend. Can we have fans? A great American ballpark, But we can't because we're gonna play. Here's Here's what? Ask your boy this. The Reds are playing at noon on Wednesday. So you're gonna have no problem going to a bar to watch the game if the Reds are in the World Series. Wait a minute what the first pitch at about eight. Pretty. Can I go to the Holy Grail and watch nine innings? Want me to call him? You call Mike DeWine right now that this arbitrary punishment of one type of business is B s had the Reds played the Dodgers and those games started at 10 o'clock. You would not have been able to go somewhere and drink a beer and watch the Reds in the postseason anywhere in the state of Ohio. So can you do that for me? We have to Ohio teams in the baseball playoffs. The Indians and the Reds. Wouldn't it be cool if both teams played in the World Series in Texas, which is weird, and frankly, not necessary, But but can can. If you sell a beer in a bar in Ohio can can you want to come watch the whole game? If he picks up? Let me do the talking. Thank you. You don't have the right velvet touch with the governor. You might hit a little too hard and Mike will not respond well, so if he picks up when they ask the question, let me do the talking. You said you'd come on tomorrow We'll ask the question for me..

"One run You probably win the game and instead ground out a line out and aground out and then on Thursday You know you're trying to put the previous day behind. You load the bases on the second inning, and Tucker Barnhart grounded out to second base and you could just feel the air coming out of the balloon at that point, so frustrating and I think, wait for one year. Another got an iconically good pitching performance from Trevor Bauer on Wednesday. And then Luis Castillo was was fine was more than fine on Thursday, and I think for me you just wonder, you know, on a grander scale. Fuck you. You don't have a trio of pictures like that often. He's got to take advantage of it when you do in the resident indeed. Do you think the Bengals Khun throw a shutout against Jacksonville tomorrow? I don't think they can throw a shutout, but they have to win the football game. I think there's a huge for Zach Taylor because Yeah, it's one thing If you're effectively owing three. I know they didn't leave last week. But it's one thing If you get to the first three games, and your quarterback is playing poorly on he's playing like a working, but he's not. He's been fine. Joe Burrow has been everything you would want and and more over the first three games. And yet they haven't won a football game and at some point that has to change and you know this is this is not a young roster. This is the angles of the 15th youngest roster in the NFL. They have a whole lot of guys who are in their second or third NFL contract. They have Ah, whole lot of guys who joined this team coming over from winning teams. And and they acquired of players with the intention of winning significantly more games this season. If they don't start that tomorrow, when we begin indeed, University of Cincinnati and USF today, give me a quick Quick hit on what happens us. Terrible. The bear cat should rule. Alright, Fantastic. What's on the block, move every bit of red content and coverage you could ever want. All right. And as we leave on Mo Eggers 43rd birthday.

"2013 2014 You get a little fired up, but you know you're going to be a let down I get the feeling That in this shortened season, this team has finally peaking and you're and they're going to peak at the right time. Now they may not get any further than you know the first or second round of the playoffs. That's fine. The red stands have to be happy with what they're singing. And if life goes back to normal, and these guys get to play spring training and get the play a full season together. You know what the rest of the National league should just really be on their heels. Tony Tony before I let you going to tell you a quick story? "Luis Castillo versus Brandon, Brandon Woodruff OK, Luis Castillo is three. Antone's last three starts pitching well. In those three starts a 1 23 e R A now was interesting is he's actually have normal rescue Last pitched on September 16th. It was dominant against the Pirates. He struck out 10/7 shutout means that's where they got that 10 victory, so hopefully we get similar performance out of him and then Next day. That would be Tuesday. Tomorrow. Sonny Gray is on the hill. And he's of course, missed a bunch of time like a week and a half or so with a back strain. But for his first seven start to the season was lights out. 1 90 for E. R. They're just a second NL team to clinch a playoff berth. And technically, I think they could still catch the Dodgers. I don't see that happening, but I mean, they just had a magnificent stretch there. They want 23 8 over the course of 31 games back, my friend. Is getting her done absolutely. And as a stands right now, Unfortunately, the Reds would have to play the Dodgers in l A. And we'll talk about that, though. Maybe you wanna face him earlier. Do you want to face him late? Reds, Pirates games postponed as Cincinnati player tests positive for COVID-19
"This is sports talk later for Lance Encounters for 700 wlw. By the way. Hope you had a great weekend. As of right now, we are expecting the Reds to take on the Kansas City Royals tomorrow night. In Kansas City. That'll be an 805 1st pitch. We go on the air, with the Arnell carriers inside pitch at 705 Luis Castillo is said to get the ball against Brad Keller. Trevor Bauer is now scheduled to pitch on Wednesday, followed up by Sonny Gray. In the first game of a four game series against the Cardinals in ST Louis on Thursday, this after the weekend that was lost after Friday night raids beat the Pittsburgh Pirates and then a couple of hours after the game. We find out that a player tested positive. For covert 19. Saturday's game postponed Sunday's game postponed Ah, couple of things worth pointing out here. Seafront Rosecrans, who, by the way, covers the Reds for the athletic And doesn't awesome job. I've tweeted out a link to a piece that I think will guide you through everything happening with this team right now. But since Saturday, every Reds player has tested at least three times. The players were tested. Saturday, Sunday morning and this morning. Pittsburgh Pirates. Players were also tested in Cincinnati before they flew to Pittsburgh last night. Um As of now. Based on reporting from a couple of it from people who are close to this. There's only been one positive test on the Reds, and it was the player who found out that he was testing positive work over 19 on Friday night. That player has since tested positive again. But as of now and again, there's the latest round of testing results that they have to get. No other Reds player has tested positive. The Reds have yet to fly to Kansas City. They are supposed to fly to Casey tomorrow if they're cleared to play. The player who tested positive would have to be placed on the injured list. Somebody's going to have to be brought up to take his place. The The Pirates will be here in mid September, September 14th to the 16th so there is ample time to make up. Two games They missed right now. The Reds have 40 games remaining. There are 41 days between now and September, the 27th which is the end of the regular season, and so obviously they're not playing today They're going to play 40 games and 40 days to get to 60. They already have a double header scheduled Against the Cubs next weekend. But there is not only a Pittsburgh trip to Cincinnati, but the Reds also going PNC Park and so you can make up one of the games there if you have to. But as of now, The plan is to play. Tomorrow night against the Royals. Again. All of this is very, very fluid. As we've seen with the Cardinals as we've seen with the Miami Marlins, the good news is again. After the one player tested positive with that result being released. On Friday. Reportedly. No other Reds player has subsequently tested positive and also know Pittsburgh Pirates player As of right now 6 26 on Monday night, no other Pirates player Has tested positive. So there you go, Uh 513749 7800 The big £1.700 free call AT and T. Jerry is calling from Claremont County. Hi, Jerry. Jerry. Hope something happens. Jerry. Your wine? Yeah, sure. Go. Oh, well. But they prayed about because they have to get tests back from the other players to ensure that there not also testing positive. Woman get their pink. Ooh, they did that. And so there are awaiting the latest the Siri's of results and they hope to play tomorrow. The Pirates also hope to play tomorrow. Yeah, this time, noting the Reds go to Kansas City before they do that they need to get to clear And for that to happen, they want to ensure there is no other players testing positive. Your city's okay. Well, yeah. I mean, the players are routinely testing positive testing, which is why we found out that a player tested positive on Friday night. Yes. Okay. Okay. Is that all right with you? Yeah. No. There was just a bad weekend without baseball. Yeah, Wass, I I don't I can't disagree with that. Ana would do anything about it. I wanna thank you very much. Thank you. Ok, thanks. Have a good evening. You you you do the same. The Miami Marlins. You may recall after the first weekend of the year they were in Philadelphia, and then again, they had a game scheduled against the Phillies. And on Sunday morning. They found out that a number of players on that team had tested positive for Cove in 19 And instead of baseball, swooping in and stopping the Marlins from playing. Instead, the players were allowed to vote. Whether or not they play now, I'm not sure why that would ever be the case. But that's that was the plan. That was the plan baseball let the Miami Marlins players vote via text by the way. On whether or not they want to play. They did play the game that day in Philadelphia, and then As it turned out that they had close to 20 members of their traveling party. The majority were players, obviously not all of them. The majority of players that a bunch of guys in there traveling party test positive for cocaine, 19 And then it took them forever to get back on the field where baseball is trying to do. Is prevented outbreak now. It is worth wondering. This. Today is the 17th of August regular season baseball ends on September the 27th. Obviously, everybody has off days built in, so there's time if you've got to miss a couple of days. What I do kind of wonder, though. Well, I think baseball has done the right thing here and frankly, I think they did the right thing with the ST Louis Cardinals. October. When we have 16 teams in the playoffs. And we're trying to squeeze a lot of Siri's in a very tight window. And ensure that the season the post season is over before we really get to cold weather in November. What's gonna happen when we have a situation with the team in the playoffs like the one that popped up for the Reds on Friday night? Positive test and now we're not going to play for a couple of days. Not playing for a couple of days in the regular season is really not that big a deal. Not playing for a couple of days in the postseason. Could have a significant short and long term impact. More on that coming up in the seven o'clock hour at Mohagher, 15. 30 is by how you can hit me up on Twitter. One of the best players in college football is has started a petition. Tucker Bernard is behind the plate, batting ninth and on the mound for your Cincinnati Reds. Luis Castillo, It is It is rather alarming toe. Look at the numbers batting average wise on this team. Now on one hand, I say that. On the other hand, the odds say the back of the baseball card says they are going to turn those numbers around depending on how deep you want to go in the breakdown. They're batting average on balls in play, which tells you what a team hits or a player hits When they put it in play. It's not a strikeout, not home when it's put in play. This year, the major league average When you put the ball in play, you hit 2 83 That's average across the board the Reds or hitting 2 33 which you could argue they're hitting into bad luck. It's due to start going the other way, tomb or even things out into what averages for Major league baseball this year. The counter to that is some guys aren't exactly crushing the ball and maybe it won't work that way. But try these numbers on for size. Freddy Galvis hitting 206 Shobha show Go. Akiyama, hitting 2 12 with the 2 78 on base percentage Jesse Wingers at 1 43 Nixon sells it to 80. Moose is at 2 38 Kirkus Alleys to 11. Tucker Bernhardt to 35. Philip Irvin's at 0 67 Josh van Meter went down today over 14. Kyle farmers at 1 82 Christian colognes at 1 80 to Matt Davidson's at 1 11 I mean, it's you look at that, and those are really so I didn't even mention a uns war is it to 98? Propping every Joey Votto zit to 43. Propping. Everybody up is Nick Cassidy. Otto's I said earlier. I mean, it is hard to believe if you take Nick and heaven if you took Nick out of his offense right now. Everybody else is hitting 1 86 1 86 it for here's the frustrating thing and the thing that we really got into lies not on Kelsey Chevrolet, extra innings. If it were just it was just one thing on this team. But clearly it's not there behind the eight ball with the bullpen. I don't know who you would argue right now and say. David Bell. You've got to go to this guy and feel good about it. If you give me one name, I challenge you to find a second name. So the bullpen's a problem. The offense is a problem if he watched last night, adding the front to the frustration. The defense continues to be an issue show Go hockey on. I had a horrible throw from left field thing. Only way was a good throws. If the runner was trying to score from first base, I mean it was. It was four feet off the plate up the first base line. Josh van Meter, bailed on a double play at second to come home on a throw. That was off the mark. And let while we're piling on the issues here base running last night, this team sure as heck isn't good enough offensively right now to deal with two guys being picked off the bases. Nixon's L kind of got hung out to dry and slipped and fell and he was out and it Castillo knows whether the replay review was right or not was picked off first base That just can't happen with this team. And yet, here we are. At five and seven. There is more to deal with. It's the Yarnell carriers inside pitch Arnell carriers or global transportation provider. Is it our LC dot com on 700 wlw? "Roll out Luis Castillo and Trevor Bauer and Sonny Gray, I'll take my chances against any team in baseball, including the Dodgers and Yankees. Evidence the Yankees in the World Series bring it on, because that's a hel about 1 to 3 to go in a three game series. Do you think they will sort? Because typically, it's you know, once you get Pass the wild card you're talking about, like, five game series seven Game series. Are they going to shorten those? Do you think that's a great question? I That's probably what they're working on is the clock ticks towards first pitch tomorrow night and in baseball, trying to decide if they're going to get in under the deadline and announced this is Let's see 16 of 30 that B 53% of the league would make it. I know baseball is the sport of tradition and purest, and now it's too many. The MBA since 16 of 32 playoffs NHL send 16 of 31 to the playoffs. NFL is going to send 14 of 32 to the playoffs. I've always argued on 162 games, and that's obviously not the way it is this year, but 162 There's more of a reason to expand your playoffs than the other sports because 1 62 is a grind, reward. More teams get him into the play. I agree. With you completely. You know, I love watching playoff AKI. I love watch and it takes about two months to get through the playoffs. I'll admit that, but it's fun because it really kind of It's a grind and hockey to their lie games. But once you get to a certain point, then it's all or nothing, And I think that that's what's going to make it entertaining for baseball fans coming, you know this October, possibly November, right, cause he's going to have to go into November. If they do this the way they're saying they're going to do it, possibly. Okay anyway, I just I can't wait because 60 games is going to be It's the cliche aid marathon to now a sprint, but the D h the extra inning rule the three better minimum. Nobody knows, And that's going to be the cool thing to watch things that haven't happened before, really about it, and I'm kinda traditionalists to but I really love seeing the new stuff. I even like the Central versus the Central. I think that's fine. You're going to see people you don't typically see. It's a different set up and I I just think it's fun to kind of test it out. And I think they should test things out like this in spring training. I think they should do it more often and see if it works. See if it impacts the flow of the game. They're always complaining. Takes too long. You might be able to find something that is quicker, safer. Whatever if you play around with it in spring training, But you know they're not really likely to do that. But maybe they should listen to us. Okay? Another thing I want to get to you real quick. Ah, this also broke yesterday, right? I talked to skinny. I think Monday It was a proposal that the Ah preseason games they were going to be eliminated for the NFL. And now here we are. The NFL has said Yep. No preseason games, and here we are with a rookie quarterback and what we're doing. How's Joe Bergen Affair? Come mid September. You talk about something that will be incredibly difficult to do to ask anybody to do butt and look Joe Burrows, a really intelligent guy. He has owned the zoom room meetings by all accounts and impressed everybody. Calling plays from his parent's basement that cadence all of that, But you're asking him ultimately to go from a virtual off season to what will be a condensed training camp without preseason games and take your first NFL snap against the opposing team in week one with your starting left tackle in the same scenario in Jonah Williams, who missed all of last season didn't have a training camp preseason game. It won't have a pre season game this year. That's like the ultimate in God's deck stacked against you. Welcome to the NFL. Yeah, and its historic Because this is like, never happened before. Here we are, At least, you know, not modern football history. And here we are with our brand new shiny quarterback, But you mentioned something oftheir. This could actually work to his advantage, says the opposite is also true. You have a bunch of guys that are veterans that are used Tio training camp there used Tio getting a couple preseason games and gain the reps under them. They're not gonna have that this year, you know, and I was telling you appear. I've always thought college as much as I don't like preseason NFL. I've always thought college football should have a night. I've asked Luke fickle and coaches about this before and they you know, I think in their perfect world, they like it. And that's the ability to to at least scrimmage or play a preseason game or two in college football. Whether it's you see, having Kentucky come up for a weekend of scrimmages or or Louisville come up for a weekend just Because you are thrown in your you're asking freshmen sophomores juniors to be thrown into the mix, and their first experience against somebody on the other side is an opposing team is in week one of the college football season. They don't get obviously pre season in college, and I've never understood why, if it if it was you get a home game, you get a road game. Let's get out the kinks and get all the nerves out, then played the regular season, but they don't I assume they're fearful of injuries and everything. Sure, sure everybody's fearful of that. But this isn't no eliminating preseason games isn't going to help that. In fact, it's probably going to put more stress and impact players, especially guys of our veterans that need that kind of warm up. Just get get the kinks out like you said. And to that point, Rachel what about the undrafted free agents or the fringe guys who need a priest in need preseason games to prove themselves worthy of a second chance? Those guys good luck now with that now it's just your You're limited number of practices in the preseason, whether you're going to make the team or not, And those are some of the best story lines. Very Bangles have been good at that at that is any team in the NFL and mining undrafted free agents in getting production out of it, do you? How do you think this is gonna play out week one with everybody being in the same boat, No preseason games. Really probably limited team interaction just in general for, you know, safety precautions at this point, How mean wasn't even going to look like we're seeing what baseball looks like? It's kind of different. We have a couple scrimmage games here. Those have been fine. But you're you're just getting thrown into the action. So were what six weeks out now, I guess longer because no per season But two months out Does it look like I'm going to be sloppy and it's gonna have to be everything is going to have to be condensed in simplified in training camp, and it will be your classic work in progress and get ready because it's It's going to go there. The problem be moments. It's tough to watch nudges for the Bengals for for everybody getting the kinks out and getting up to speed. It's going to be a big ask. All right. One more question. US crowd noise in the stadium. How you feel about it? You know, I've gotten mixed reviews. Start that off. A lot of people were like, really hesitant. They weren't feeling it. And then now we have a couple days with crowd noise. Final thoughts on crowd noise. I'm still reserving judgment. I don't know the 1st 2 nights trial run trial and error. I got all that. I don't like it as much as I thought I did, because the one thing I notice I miss is the crack of the bat. Ah, and I and I go back. One of Marty's classic calls is the Jay Bruce Clinch Miss home run, And if you listen to that You hear, Marty say Here's the pitch. You hear the crack of the bat, and then you hear the crowd rise up like it's going up on a roller coaster here, Marty say Here's a drive. And now the way it is just through two games. There's no I don't hear anything related to ball off bad and I need to hear that in some way, shape or form. Do whatever you want with the rest of your noise and ramping it up and lowering and all that. And I just I need the crack of the bat. And I hope we hear that. Friday night when it's for real. I have such here. That's a really good point, cause I didn't even notice that. I was just excited to see home runs from one No, before you you move on from, I think we both wish Tony Pike and his lovely wife. Congratulations and the best Tony's son born tonight. Wilder, Stephen Pike, which is a really cool name. Tell me Wilder Pike doesn't sound like a quarterback running from the total on a factory in highschool football. You're starting quarterback Wilder Pike. I think 2040 you see has a quarterback ago. So congratulations, Tony and his wife..

"They could set it up where he pitches every four days. They know I think that's going to be part of the planning and part of the fascination with how they decide to do this. Do they piggyback starters and pitch two starters each early it maybe three innings each, maybe three days a week. Did they use Bauer on it on his own for that fourth day? Let Bauer go. His No. 56 or seven, although Luis Castillo has said he's ready to go six or seven. So do you do piggyback starters three days a week and let Bauer do his thing? Every four? There's a number of ways you can mix and match in playoff that he just what I guess the point would be. It helps when you have somebody who is Prepared and believes he is best when pitching once every four days. Now there's other elements to all this, of course, and part of that is the protocols and getting used to everything that comes with this return to baseball dealing with Koba, 19. Trevor Bauer on All the things around this process. I mean, whatever we gotta do to play. I want to play. I know some guys. Feel differently. Some guys don't like it. Some guys like it. Some guy's more scared. Some guys are less scared of it. Obviously extenuating circumstances with family and at risk and all the things that are going on. I'm personally not not worried about it. But for the sake of everybody else around out of respect for not only the people in our clubhouse, but everybody we play against. All their family and close relatives and all that. I'm good with whatever they have us do it. Whatever we can do to keep it on the field and get through the whole season. I think that's the most important thing at this point. But I shouldn't say the most important thing. Actually, Health of everybody is the most important thing, but for the game itself like way need to get through this season. Trevor Bauer, Reds pitcher You know there is There's an aspect of this with Trevor where there's a lot on the scale. The Reds put a lot of the skill when they when they acquired him. They give up their top prospect. It's also his walk here. He's a free agent. Now. He has said publicly he's late. He will sign a one year deal..
The 60-game MLB schedule is out! Here's what you need to know and the big matchups we're circling
"So here's what we know on the surface as we wait the official announcement of the other fifty nine games on the red season. We know it is sixty games. We will run through September twenty seventh. In terms of regular season, we know the reds are playing the national league central, and we know they'll play the American league central by the way if it's reds tigers opening day. What about Luis Castillo Versus Matthew Boyd? Maybe I'll ask David Bell about debt. I'm sure there's nothing David Bellwood. Rather be asked. Hey, schedules out officially. Who's your opening day starter? That coming up at at six thirty five, we know. NL Central Ale central. And I looked at what has been released from the national. League east, there were not six game were not six game ups against rivals. There was a thought in one stage of this process that they might make your natural rival at six games here in. Essence the reds and Indians playing six games three here three there in the early schedule releases. Six matchups during the season, the early proposal was going to be six versus your biggest rival, and then maybe lop off to against somebody else in that opposite division in this case being the American league central. We're waiting on that cubs, colonels, pirates brewers ten times. Each Butler tells me. That's forty Indians twins, White SOx tigers, royals, perhaps four times each times five equaling a total of twenty games. Let's

Reds win for two today they take two of three from the Padres it was not exactly what they did it in look at the start of this stretch of of ten the thought was he playing ten games against losing teams you really got to win at nine out of those ten worst case maybe eight out of those ten when you lose the first one there was great angsty concern and frustration on a Monday night of this week when they lost the first game you think it here we go now they've taken the next two and it's still in play to do some damage which they should do against the Pittsburgh Pirates followed by the Florida Marlins the Miami Marlins what's a stir the conversation from that point is we continue six fifteen sports talk seven hundred WLW.

Gold Medal, One Hundred Percent And Four Years discussed on Red Sox Baseball
"Yeah we we open up the so today what with the death of the great part L. sweet pea Whitaker and a few old enough to remember watching him fight he won an Olympic gold medal in nineteen eighty four and is just you talk about a master box you're kind of a lost art these days Floyd Mayweather is one James lights out Tony was another Bernard Hopkins you know technicians master boxers old school difficult to hit slip in countering they're just not around these days anymore again James Toney Bernard Hopkins Floyd Mayweather sweet pea well at Willie pep back in the day was the master at avoiding hitting and not getting hit slipping moving using his feet what part what occurred without question is one of the all time greats especially at light weight and then you know he moved all the way up to the welterweight and in between the one the junior welterweight championship so we have four different built yet lightweight junior welterweight through a super well but he was a really good and dominant welterweight as well you just couldn't hit him I mean what what what a headache he was the funny thing was you know if what does a lot of running in moving and slipping into an escaping in there Patel didn't run dell stood right funny Apryl came forward you just couldn't get the guy he was the master at parrying punches with his hand set at M. moving his head and slip into making a mess and then countering and pop and he wasn't a big hitter but he just pops out you he'd let let as they say he he he would he would girl slap you to death for twelve rounds thank thank thank not a great knockout punch but it's stinky jab counter counter right right hook and get out of there and he was at again parrying moving the head and he had that patented move that that I've never seen anybody else do before since he's squat he he he search user look like he was get not guaranteed squat down like a catcher and sit there and squat I got to be put cinema over the top of his head and they be so frustrated they couldn't hit him then of course the pop up and then at a pop up in the land the combination on his opponent he was the master and also the victim of two of the worst decisions I've ever seen in my life number one and people forget about this one with nineteen eighty eight he fought for the lightweight title for the first time against Jose Luis Ramirez member he was a pretty good fight around Mexico and a world champion and no one conservatively ten rounds out of twelve yeah I mean it might have been a shutout that's how dominant he was again for mers and then the score cards come back and it was just what this is a win for Ramirez I think it was in Montecarlo in Europe it was obviously a corrupt up above bought off decision and what what we it was a shame the way he got screwed there so when you say he's forty four and one now he doesn't have you give an extra when they're not now is forty one in four that was a scandalously what I mean that what excuse me now is forty forty one three in one now let's go to nineteen ninety three her nose match against Julio Cesar Chavez who is eighty seven and at the time undefeated considered maybe the greatest fighter of all time certainly the greatest fighter ever to come out of Mexico and a fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio and this was an absolute masterpiece member this fight this was a shot out I had a twelve rounds the nothing for sweet pea that night it was it was the ball on the matter or Thomas never hit him move popped left right pup Perry slip moved ahead crouched down they can miss turn him it was masterful again minimum if I'm being really kind and nice and bent over backwards you give Chavez maybe two rounds and the judges scored it a draw eight a scandalously bad decision corrupt again a hometown decision I know I know well tablets are from Mexico but you know when you're fighting in San Antonio it's going to be almost a one hundred percent crowd of of Hispanic fans Mexican Americans they're all cheering for for a job as an and obviously a sweep he was gonna have a tough time getting a decision there that that was a scandalously bad this doesn't mean he got screwed over and robbed about as much as anybody then I was there a nineteen ninety seven when Pearl Whitaker what's the welterweight champion of the world four years later and he defended against Oscar de la Hoya and again you know sometimes Patel was its own worst enemy not putting enough too much defense but but Oscar never hit I had a one fifteen one thirteen for pearl what occurred that night seven rounds to five I thought clearly no was the winner yeah but you know Vegas being what it is Oscar being who we is the power generated by Bob arum and Oscar and you know Austin was the golden boy in the meal ticket and the guy with the future propels get a little bit older I think he was in his thirties at that point Oscar winds up getting the decision now that wasn't a a whole rent if this is an **** was Jose Luis Ramirez or Chavez but that's another one where I thought Whitaker sort of had hand rates now he lost clearly a few years later when he when he was old and shot he lost clearly a few years later to Felix Trinidad by unanimous decision the colors were okay as a in his last fight he broke his clavicle against not medically you know he he was a shell of himself so those of in my opinion those are the only two losses you ever have so he wasn't forty four and forty wins four losses and one draw in my book he's forty three into because that loss was a win and a loss to warm Oscar was a win and a draw was a win so in this respect and by the way my opinion is the only one that matters of course know what occurs forty three into and I say Floyd may weather is not fifty at all Floyd Mayweather's forty nine and one now what days with what he's saying that for well he's not because he lost one sixteen one twelve on my scorecard Jose Luis Castillo in two thousand two in their first fight he clearly lost that fight okay steel got rocked so yeah Floyd forty nine and one is not fifty you know because he didn't win that night but back to print out forty three into at the only losses to his last memory broke his clavicle into traded it to me he won every single fight he ever had outside of that elegant master box of his style wasn't for everybody much like Floyd may weather I mean did deal like guys who make you miss and play defense and slip and Perry and counter and our absolute master box is not at all a lot of people prefer guys to come forward and take a couple to give one action fighters and I get it I like those guys to but that's why we love boxing not everybody's the same I like the action fighters I love the great boxers to I love I love watching Mohammed Ali and the sugar ray Leonard Floyd Mayweather into and Burnell and sweet pea that's where the master boxers you know hit and don't get hit there's room for all of them in boxing and pearl Whitaker for my money is the best pure boxer of my lifetime

"Run average, the opposition, the left-hander Jose cantata four into for the cubs with a three fifty earned run average, how good has Luis Castillo ban earlier this afternoon on MLB radio. Derek Dietrich who had a look at Luis Castillo from afar now as a member of the same team as a teammate. He offered perspective on the things that jumps out the him, his impressions of Louis Custodio while they he's. Extremely special and one of the things that I get from watching him how calm and cool and collected. He is. I mean it doesn't matter if it's a tight situation, which there haven't been many when he's on the mound this year, so far, but, you know, whether you know it's something close or he's cruising. He just maintains his even keel about him. And he just continues to pound the strike zone. His changeup is filthy. And I mean, I haven't seen anything like him since Jose Fernandez as far as mount presence and stuff and the ability to be the best pitcher in the game and pitching like it. I mean, yeah he's he's up there. You should be considered, you know, if he keeps us up, obviously, for the for the Cy Young, I'd love to see him win it because he's so far. He's shown like he's the best pitcher in the game. Derek Dietrich earlier today on MLB radio talking about the ace of the reds. Luis Custodio Joe luck up contributor to the inside pitch in statman extraordinaire. Notice this on the website baseball savant today. This will give you a little perspective on how good the Louis Custodio change up has been this season. If you look at the percentage of swings and misses by pitches this year. Luis Custodio gets a swing and miss thirty three point two percent of the time on his changeup. That is the best in all of baseball. Nobody throws a change up that gets more swings and misses this year among pitchers if thrown at least one hundred and fifty of them, that's the criteria than Louise Custodio. How good is that in Joel notes that he's thrown two hundred eighty six changeups this year. He's given up one extra base. Hit one to Stephen vote. A double against the giants won the entire season in, we've talked about it in terms of it reminding those who saw Mario Soto pitch Soto like it's becoming so good. It's like it can be Castillo like I mean, I think there's a separation in a breakaway he's doing well on his own and convos, tablets, because own thing, I almost feel bad tying him do so. Oto because he's establishing so much on his own right now, in just being flat out filthy in the last fourteen starts going back to last season. He leads major league baseball with a one fifty one earned run average. It would be a huge win tonight. You take two or three from the cubs. You've come back home facing a very important stretch of what twenty six games against winning teams first place teams, central division, teams and to be able to jump out of the chute take two or three from a first place team in your division. I think that would be a rather significant accomplishment for this team to this point in the season. We have a lot.
