"This is a very similar type of a defense, and I think Philip Rivers is the same kind of a quarterback when you can get out and you could get up on people. That's when Philip Rivers is going to play his best football. We've just learned over the last couple of years. But Philip is Preston, especially in the fourth quarter. Balkans where he needs to make plays. He's just he's gonna throw it up and maybe not make great decisions with the ball. So, yeah, it's one of those deals where he needs to keep her baking The turnovers. And I think a lot of that can be done by getting up on Minnesota scores points early, having the running game that will keep him from having to feel like he has to take place. I thought that was the game plan for last week shocked that they had 22 runs of 46 pass attempts. I thought that would have been switched, or at least 30 30 runs and, you know, maybe 30 passage just a little bit more towards 50 50, but they went right to the passing game, but he was good at it. But that's the honest I mean, 70% rice percentage and it got down the field. But the mistakes were just too much to overcome. And so we need to be better in the red zone. Only two of five the last that's got to be better. So you're going there and with a guy like Moe, Alec Ox, get the start Project Oil Look, look for motive. Be a target, especially down in red zone because he is such a big body haven't opportunity to get the ball to him. I think he'll make some plays. He's just a Zodiac. We cannot do Saturday nights without his Expert. Look at the Colts as they match up tomorrow with the Minnesota Vikings. One o'clock at Lucas Oil Stadium. First home game. All right, you could tear into that tequila. Now we're finished. We're done with you. So I'm not every I'm toast all 2500 people that need to go to the game tomorrow. That's my guy. "Niac rejoins US. We're talking about the Colts home opener tomorrow at Lucas Oil Stadium as they take on the Minnesota Vikings. And should we you talked about and I think everyone agreed with you, Joe. That Carolina rule roster is AH, Excuse me. Jacksonville's roster challenged So what do we say about Minnesota? Should we should we say that This is the best team in the NFL, and that makes everybody feel different because it didn't work out so well last week. This is a Minnesota team. It's okay. You know, I don't think it's It's not an upper echelon type of team. So what are we looking at tomorrow? Well, they've got more talent in Jacksonville has rancor. Cousins is a is a very let's put Kirk cousins and in the proper frame work, you know, he's he's 10 to 20. You know, in the league, he's not like right, serviceable house that has a complete his smart with a football right goes well in their system. They can run the football. Dalvin Cook is a pretty good running back. He just got a new contract. He's He's a pretty special kid, and I can be if they need to get the running game going in order to make their passing gave that much better Kurt because it does a lot of things off play action and feeling is just e. He's a top notch receiver. He's another Top 15, you know, type receiver in this league and very, very dangerous. So the first thing that calls you need to do is stop the room, which they did not do against Jacksonville the first half, and if you could do that, and make Minnesota one dimensional, you'll be in a better place. Now, one of the things that Minnesota offensive line a lost the guy outlined is going to be out one of their guards. Um, so they're going to have a backup guard. It'll be interesting to see what Matty broke loose and deepest coordinator does because there was a lot of talk about the forest Buckner and all the money he got. You know your dues. Just one of the top 3 to 4 minutes of tackles in the game. How can we help him? Get away from some of those double teams? Well, there you can live people up to do that. And you could also help him out by giving him one on one of the weakest leak. That's on that office of life being a three technique that means he lines up over the guards. So I have a feeling they may try and move him around a little bit orders and get him some one on one opportunities. That certainly would help the offense. Ah, oh, R Disrupt the offense. Keep forgetting in a rhythm completed pass after pass after pass, so I would look for something like that. Also, look for Xavier Rhodes to play a little bit better. After all, was said and done. Film was going through and everything and he had a really bad place that were really bad, you know, played OK After that. It was his partner for the course. For most, the defense defensive backs, though they need help with the pass Rush will get better. As the season goes on. They'll get better getting to know one another. But you returned nine starters on that defense. That's probably the biggest disappointment from week. One is that you didn't play better. Xavier Rhodes, Of course, does this nose this defense of group he could help out on and Philip Rivers talked about that this week? Let me get our game played down. Let me get into things. And then you know that we'll get together with Xavier. Maybe he can help me by thinking little things out and in something that Philip could look forward and may be used to attack so You're not going to do it with Jack Doyle. He's out. He's injured position. How much good we can not really sure I look for you. I helped the heavy huge day, their corners. Air. Not good. They're cornered. They went young and so they're playing. You know if they got a whole different group on defense, Val And that's why part of the reason why Xavier Rhodes is here. He was one of their started corners here ago. So they they've done some different things over there. They're trying to get activated. They had some injuries. So we'll see how we attack it. But I really think Philip Rivers and hills will be a good combination tomorrow. And I also think the running back position something look for without Marlon backed down, right? John Taylor would have an opportunity to start. They do run a lot of exotic blitz schemes and things so I don't know I would expect to see 19. Heinz Much, much more and throwing down to be in there instead of Jonathan Taylor, just to make sure that you keep Philip up right there. Not the greatest defensive line hunters went out. He's out because of an injury and they put him on I r before before he can come back so you don't have to worry about him. But they did pick up a unique undock way from the Jacksonville Jack wires. Ah, few weeks before the season got started, so He is a capable guy. We know that he's young 25 years old going to be a really good player. He's just a bit of a head case. At this point. It is a new guy to their defense, so they want big things out of him. He needs to do that. Also, after you get the first game under his belt, really play particularly well did stand out at all. He needs to play a little bit better. So if my example wants to, you know better out of his teeth to only have the ball eight minutes, so we're able to put up 30 some points, so they're capable but their bread butters, we have to run the football set up the play action pass control the clock a little bit, but I do expect to see this thing game at the inn, the upper thirties. I think you have to score close to 40 to be the winning team gets really, really You know, it's interesting, everyone. Yeah, well, I think so. And again, the focus on Philip Rivers did not have a great day last week. They need him. They need him to just be serviceable and you go back to that word. They need him to manage the game. They need him not to turn over right make plays when he can, But Maura than anything, just manage what's going on out there? You think of this Colts team kind of like the Peyton Manning years where it was a pretty outstanding offense and the defense you know it was, you know, we do what they needed to do to win the crime. It was a great defence that they could play Freedia. Matthis made the Hall of Fame numbers and the great names for themselves and heard a lot of money because they just put their ears back and rush the passer..

"He makes me he brings me joy on Saturday nights, the one and only Joe stays. Nia. Hello, Joe. Coach. You and I, we're going to do the show with a little tequila. One of you and we're going to. We're going to do what today? Okay, dude, we're going to use tequila. Tio. Well, we're just going to toast tequila all night long. So if you don't mind, I have AH, have a large glass of water. S O mind won't be with tequila and I'm beginning to see my career flash in front of my eyes way with the FCC regulations being what they are. So this is a new line of tequila. That's ah, with the with ST Elmo's there part their investors in this sticky ls that is that you and you and your in your capacity as being a pitchman for everybody in the city of Indianapolis. You you have You have come up with some new vodka? Tequila? Excuse me. So why am I not at all surprised in this? Well, it's funny because I was actually doing a charity walk this morning for a less and we were down a victory field the greatest minor league ballpark in question. Head so anyway, one of the organizers it is. This is one of the ventures. He's involved in it, so it's only available in about four states. And he said, You know, you really got to try it. That's it. Well, sure, Yes, I do. And those very interesting. I've never had anything. The aroma is great, and then the actual taste Fantastic. It's aged in bourbon barrel for at least a year. And so that was the The represent, and then you can also get it in a hole. That's in the barrel for longer than that. I just really work. Wonder what that tastes like. But it's all of the ageing process because the killer doesn't get h very long at all. Get the block. No, that's just the clear and then that's you know, basically straight from the fermentation and out you go. The other ones get age a little bit longer, and so I just become a connoisseur. Fire. It's about degrees outside ship in a little bit of that, and there was a good night. All right, so now you're fired up, ready to go home opener. Courts. Can we revisit last week? This was not the opening game that we anticipated from our guys, was it No, We're just certainly not. Not. Not when you're taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars, which on paper is probably the worst team in the league. Will they end up that way? We'll and we'll see. But all the moves that they made dirty on rising was to put them in a position to make sure that they, you know, get the top draft pick in the draft, so Let's be honest with that. The Colts did not come out. They did not play very well. And when you look top to bottom of the guys that did play well, the astounding thing is they were your best players, right? Dropped a couple of key crucial balls. Philip Rivers, those a couple of really boneheaded interceptions. Your best offensive lineman and quit. Nelson. This is a block and 1/4 of one. You know, you go on down the list defense of your linebackers. I thought of the strength of the defense and I thought they played awful The first after they came back in the second half a little bit better, but man, just awful. And then your coaching wasn't great. Well, let's be honest. There were some Scratcher have moments for in the game, you know, play calls and just not not being on cue on. So there are a lot of issues that were going on throughout that game. But for Heaven's second private, think you gotta play better than that against any team in the NFL. So Jacksonville they did what they needed to do to win, But we certainly did Bye. And it's a little bit scary that you saw some of the same problems a year ago, rising the robot head again and namely allowing quarterbacks to complete a high number of passes. So you're not gonna win any games that way. If you allow that. Yeah, It's astounding to give up that number. I We've got a school board update. I need youto Hang on. Sip, no drinking, just sipping. Okay? Just the That's your mantra. We're just sipping. We're not drink up because we got squeezed 10 more minutes out of U C. You know you're on your own. You're on top of your game right now. So we need you to stay there, okay? Just easy. Jack and I will come will there Ugo will come back Talks Amore Colts football They take on Minnesota tomorrow at Lucas Oil Stadium. One o'clock start. "Taylor had nine Marlon Mack out for the season with a thorn Achilles. But that job and Taylor pick that the Colts had in the last NFL draft is paying dividends is now you have Heinz and Taylor seeming up on the running back side. Here's Frank Reich with his thoughts on that running back death. There's no question we're going. We drafted Jonathan. We were We were saying that before this happened, Marlin. I mean, just with what we've seen. From Jonathan. You know, in training camp, and then you know, obviously the first game some flashes that we saw a novice it Marlon got hurt. You know, I can't say that we didn't say mouth, man. Now we're really glad we drafted him now. It was just it was the right thing to do to draft Jonathan. It was Part of the plan that we had talked about. He was the right player for us. They may be extremely busy tomorrow again. Jack Doyle is out. Trey Burton is still on the injured reserve. Moheli Cox, Maybe a busy man tomorrow from the tight end position as well. Fashionable for the game. Michael Pittman, Junior Isaiah Rogers, Justin Houston, Julian Blackman and Zach Paschal on the Minnesota side. Cornerback Cameron Dancer has been ruled out otherwise. Minnesota as a healthy slate for Philip Rivers home debut from Lucas Oil Stadium, first time seeing him In the blue and White Home jersey, some running king with network Indiana. "Absolutely have the right to be upset about the colt home Attendance policy and you absolutely have the right to tell him it's unacceptable and it needs to change. You're their boss because you bought their stadium. 93 WNBC Rob Kendall in for Tony Cats. Good morning. Thanks for joining us Happy Memorial are happy, but about three months behind their buddy Happy Labor Day. So the cold says, we talked about last segment came out with their attendance policy this year. It's completely ridiculous. 2500 people allowed in a 70,000 person stadium and people keep yer what Woz is happening. Well, I'm going to read you the sentence and a J. When I get to the point where you determine where you go Because you're college educated man. You have the Indiana state degree. Want to get to the point in this sentence when you figure it out? Why this policy is such crap? You say Stop and let me know. OK, I'm just gonna keep reading. And when I get to the magic words, you'll know it when you hear it. Okay. All right. Theater. Indents number was determined following discussions with the Marion County Public Health Department stop. Read that again. Just make sure you didn't miss anything. We'd like to hear the full sentence. I mean, I'm not saying you're not wrong. I'm just saying, would you the attendants number was determined following discussions with the Marion County Public Health Department. And we're set to meet local NFL and CDC guidelines to help limit the spread of cove in 19. I think you were correct when you said stop the last time the Marion County Public Health Department. If you want to know why this policy is completely awful. It's the same reason we didn't have fans of the 500. No people can say they want well hoax. It didn't do that. Pinsky made the decision on his own. Oh, bull, You're going to tell me that if Joe Hogg said there a call come had been out cheerleading going. We're going to have fans in this race. We're going to figure out a way to make it happen. Pinsky would now we don't want to do that. No, of course not. This is once again. Joe Hog set his administration that has ruined everything good and decent in this city. Who and just who just recently is the middle last week, said this about people just trying to open their businesses, and I promise you That Dr Caine and her team will go full Footloose on your business. If you're operating as a dance club. Now the question is to Jimmer say. Why did you go along with this the same way? I asked the question to Roger Penske. Why did you go along with us? I have no idea why these very powerful people with money. Influence connections and a product that the public wants and clamors for continues to kneel to these politicians. This is why this stuff continues to happen because people who have the ability to do something are sitting silent and our complicity and agreeing to go along with insanity. Look if the if the agreement was 20,000 people in Lucas Oil Stadium Okay. It's a little more reasonable. I still disagree with that. If you want to go to a football game, you know the risk. If you want to go, then go. It should be your choice. If Jimmer say wants to have a full stadium full of people that should be his choice. What If you have to say that one out of every 28 seats is all that's going to be filled. That's not social distance thing that social insanity, which fits with every other public policy. That has been put forth by the Hawks that administration since the start of Corona virus up to and including last week, and now this with the Indianapolis Colts. But Jimmer sage, just like Roger Penske is not blameless. Just like the Indiana Legislature is not blameless in the decisions and the Fiats and executive orders of Eric Holcomb. When you sit silent when you don't push back when you don't fight back when you don't stand up and you have a platform to do so, then you are a part of the problem. You're not going to tell me that of Roger Penske had not name names and not fought that the public outcry would not have been enough to get the 500 with at least 25% capacity. Of course, you could have got it because sports I mean, it's ridiculous of all the things that happen. Businesses shut down lives to start that. Well, you know those things happen. What? No Indy 500. No way, man. Same thing with the colt. Businesses destroyed Lives ruined Calamity economic cast. Well, you know, those are the breaks What? No attendance at home Colts game's no way. Once again, powerful people who have the ability to do something have done nothing. Now. I've long said that any private business should have the ability to set whatever policy they want for you to be in their store doesn't matter whether I agree with it or not. The point is I have the ability not to go. Man, They're not taking my money. There's two caveats to that. I have the ability not to go and they're not taking my money. If a private for profit business is not taking my money, and I have the ability not to engage with it. I'm fine. I don't have to agree with it. The Colts pass one of those tests. I don't have to go and I'm not going to go, but they fail the other one, which is they're taking my money and they're taking your money, and as a result, they work for us. Now, if you're not familiar, I know I've Beaten this, you know, to the ends of the Earth over the years, but we get new listeners in all the time. Lucas Oil stadium that by the time factor in interest in everything else cost well over a billion dollars, that free stadium that Jim ER say the owner of the Colts was given. Was given not from a magic money tree. We didn't plant a stadium seed in the ground in the stadiums sprouted up. That stadium is funded by us the taxpayers through a tax increase. And no For the most part. It's not just marrying county. It's the Donut County say for I believe it's Morgan County. Hey, a tax increase on every sandwich. You buy every soda you by.

"Has a Interesting. Reaction to Corona virus. I use the term interesting. Use your own. 93 WNBC Rob Kendall to Rob Kendall Show. Thanks for joining us Play along on Twitter at Robin Kendall will get to that conversation about a local sports franchises. Reaction to Corona virus momentarily, But first couple of news notes and reminders of first of all, I will be in for Tony Katz tomorrow Morning, 6 to 9 A.m. the morning show here on 93. WNBC. So if you're up and about would be a real honor to have you tuned in with us as we celebrate Labor Day on also coming up next hour. Yes, many of you know, On Friday, I put the big news out that a very prominent Republican. Stepping down, announcing he'll be stepping down next week. And who is it? Who could it be? Oh, uh said. I tell you today and so we're going to talk about it coming up next hour and end. Ah, I'm goingto take some of what he said. And do my own interpretation on it, And all will be revealed momentarily, So make sure you stick around. For that. So let's talk about the Indianapolis Colts. And their response to Corona virus. As you know, the NFL starting next week, the cult open their regular season. September the 13th that's at Jacksonville. And the first home game a week later against the Minnesota Viking. September the 20th. Now, if you're not aware The Indianapolis Colts. They play in a big old stadium. It's called Lucas Oil. And if you ever have driven on the 70 of past downtown, you see it. You cannot miss. It is a great big old monstrosity back holds roughly a 70,000 people. I believe if you're playing along at home. Well, the and by the way, every NFL team kind of given its own discretion on how to do seeding this year because of Corona virus, So a lot of people were thinking. Well, maybe it'll be 25%. And you know if you did that, that's roughly 15 to 20,000 people. You could get in there. You could. You know, every four seats, you could have a person. Okay? All right. Maybe not the best, but a little bit Good started selling part. So one of the cold's gonna do. Well. The Colts came out on Friday, and they announced their plan at least to start season for seating at Lucas Oil Stadium, which seats 70,000 people. Now I'm going to bring producer Ethan in on this because I know you're not much of a sports man. But even if you had to guess, have you have you heard the story yet? Are you aware what the answer is on those Okay, shaking his head because I wouldn't want to, You know, manipulate the data here and give away If you had to guess of the 70,000 people. Lucas Oil Stadium could hold roughly How many do you think they're going to allow in Lucas Oil Stadium for the first home game? Keep in mind. Roughly 18,000 would would give you the 25% as many of the teams are doing. What do you think the Colts are going to know what would be your guests? Well, they didn't allow the 16,000 people over the Indy 500. So I'm going to say, tend 10,000 that or is that our final gas? You would be way high. Ethan, you would be way I In fact, you would be four times to hie thee. For a 70,000 roughly seat stadium. 2500 people will be allowed in the Lucas oil Stadium for the Colts home game. If you are scoring at home, that is four count them 4%. Of the total population, which could fit in to Lucas Oil Stadium. I did the math, too, because of course, I have long told people that math, not my strong suit. In fact, I had to take logic in college to get the math credit. I did very well in the logic class knew looked out there, but I used the a handy dandy calculator on the phone and that comes out to one person. Every 28 seats. One person every 28 seats. Lucas Oil Stadium for the Colts home opener. 2500 fans. Now look. I got the right to be angry about this and you got the right to be angry about this because you know, in the past, you said, look local businesses. Khun do whatever they want. You know if Walmart wants to make you wear a mask, fine. If Kilroy's downtown they have to, but you give him saying, whatever local business, the hardware store, whatever this is their business if it's a private business You know what? Everyone if you don't like it, don't go in the store, and I have long said that I obey all the rules that the people ask, etcetera because of that, If you don't like it, you want to go, But you have every right To scream and yell and shout to high heaven what the Colts are doing because you, my friend! If you're hearing my voice, there is a good chance that you are part owner of Lucas Oil Stadium. If you're hearing my voice right now, if you're marrying catty resident or one of the donut County residents, except for one donut, can you believe there is a good chance that every sandwich or soda you purchase you are taxed to pay for Lucas Oil Stadium. And you know when they built Lucas Oil Stadium, and we've talked about this on the show before I realised, so if it's old hat to you, I'm sorry, but we have listeners all the time, and here's weak sometimes have to rewind a little bit to go forward. You know why they taxes 1% 1% food and beverage taxes every sandwich or so do you purchase in all of I believe, but one of the donut counties and Marion County then and that adds up if it's if it's a $10 meal, that's 10 cents and think, How many times you purchase a $10 worth of food at a restaurant in center or a lot more anyway, the reason they told you that we had to do that we We had to do. The tax increase was too fun Lucas Oil Stadium and we had had had to have Lucas Oil Stadium because we had had had tohave people downtown by the tens of thousands. And we said, Well, some of the time. What? What? Wait a second. We've already got a big giant dome is called the Garcia Dome. And it holds tens of thousands of Oh, no, no, no, no, That's not good enough because our CEO well, it's it's just not attracting people to downtown like that. It's no state of the art. But but but they can play football there, and the goal is to have the people watched the football right well, but it's not nice enough. And people won't want to come down here and trust us. The governments and by the way, this wasn't just Mayor Burt Peterson, mayor of Indianapolis designed this was Mitch Daniels. This was the Indian, A Legislature all the Republicans on board with this two. This was a big thing at the time. No, no, trust us. They said No, no, no. You anti tax or you're just the worst. Trust us. The Lucas Oil Stadium, the big news stadium. It'll bring so many more people and people want to be here and you'll you'll be raining riches. The investment will be so great just shut up and pay your 1% food and beverage tax. Well, I don't know about you and again, I say this is someone who had Take a logic class instead of math to get through it through college, But I'm not sure. 25 100 fans for the first Colts home game on September the 20 of them. I'm not sure that's going to give me a czar Brownsburg resident much of Ah, return on investment. Um Ah, I just I hate you know me. You know me. I hate to be a complainer. I hate to be someone who raises doubt on on government ideas and government philosophies, But I just don't think that in a 70,000 Person Stadium The 2500 people that that's going to give me much of. Ah, return on investment from traffic downtown, You know, people standard hotels people had eaten on restaurants in my little community there on the West Side. Indianapolis Ah, just outside the west side of Indianapolis. I just I'm not feeling that return on investment. So what now? What happens now? Think about this. This is where we're at with Corona virus. We are the government agencies. Don't kid yourself for a minute. The Marion County Health Department didn't throw down the edict on what the Colts we're going to do You think the Colts won 2500 people in there? One person every 28 seats? Come on. Come on, Even high school football right now isn't doing that You're much closer to high school football game than that. No, no, no, no, no..

That's that's every kid's dream you know I've worked really really hard for this opportunity and I'm blessed to be in this position. I'm a ball player. Whoever picks me on my go show up? How play whoever for forever dressing? You know. I'm just not going to be presumptuous. About what they WANNA DO I. It's the draft. You guys have been covered it for a long time and you never know what's going to happen so we played a month longer than everyone else and everyone else's been training a month longer than us you know. I wanted to put. I don't I didn't think I'd be able to put my best foot forward here at the combine so I wanted to wait till pro day had another whole month of training and just be the best that I could be when everyone when. Everyone's eyes are on me. You know coming in. If you're the number one pick the teen is picking number one. Is there for a reason? So you're going to have to come in. There's going to be ups and downs and you've got to stay steady through the process. Our research tells us about Joe. Borough is his own man. He's not going to be talked into saying things for other people's benefits so if that's what he said. That's that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to know him getting to meet him through. The process haven't been able to sit down with them yet. But we've got that on the horizon. We'll talk more about Joe. Boroughs plans to hold off throwing here at the combine. But might I'll start with you in terms of do you want? Do you not want to play for the being. You have any issues at all with where we landed at least at this point. No I mean as I said last week Joe Borough at the end he does not have leverage. The bengals have the first pick in the draft. If they want to draft. Joe Joe Borough. That's where he's GonNa go now with that. Said I think it's incumbent upon sack Taylor in the Bengal organization to create the Right Environment. Where he could come in and they could build something sustainable and truly transformative so. I think where we wended. Wendy is appropriate last week. He could've handled that better but to Joe Boroughs credit. I think they tweak things I think they're in a good spot now. He's been well-coached past week. Tower doesn't it. Yeah and Adema to your Do All your contacts. It appears that borough likely young he's projected pick. I still think that's where the bengals ultimately go. And they're sitting there and that's about this a team that needs somebody to revitalize that franchise and they are expected to look to trade Andy Dalton at some point this off season and so when you're sitting there in division with Lamar Jackson there in Baltimore think that they know that they have to get somebody in there. That's going to put some points on the Board Baker Mayfield Cleveland and this is going to be the pick for the Cincinnati bengals. Even Joe was considering trying to exercise some kind of leverage really the only leverage you have is withhold your services and not playing not report even if he was thinking along those lines. Let's say he's doing a deep dive trying to figure out exactly. Just what the Cincinnati offer as far as developing me as a quarterback. Could you blame him? Could you really blame him for wanting to dig? Deep on exactly what? What does the future going to look like during over the course of my rookie contract with this football team would exactly? What exactly is Mike Brown's commitment to go ahead and building out this roster around me because we all know a lot of what's going to happen to him has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with everything that's going to be around him. Just look at the past three or four drafts. And how certain players have benefited from going to certain to certain teams? Just look at l a look at the difference between jar rookie year in his second year. Sean mcvay came in. It flipped his rookie year. People were saying Jared Goff to Canada. All of a sudden his second year is like. Oh wait a minute. Maybe he's not so bad you couldn't blame him. If that was a thought Lewis to that point I also think an opportunity. If you're Zach Taylor to say hey what's happened in the past. It's irrelevant we're going to myself with you and we're going to build something great and we can't worry about what's happened before we have a lot of work to do. But if I'm the bengals if I have a hey coach Taylor. That's worked with quarterbacks. Like you mentioned Jared Goff Joe Boroughs Billy and character. That's a great opportunity for the bengals. Sino three things one. Is that if something were to go on with. The bengals is not going to happen in public and this has been addressed in the past week if it's going to happen behind the scenes so whatever we hear from this point on. Don't even don't even look at it. Don't think about it because it has nothing to do with with what is going on behind the scenes. The second thing is this guy's different cab he beats. It goes a Beatles drummer. He doesn't care what anyone else has done. In the past what everyone else is GonNa do in the future? He's going to do what's best for Joe Borough but the third thing I know about him is he's a football guy he's his. His brothers played linebacker at safety at Nebraska. His Dad's a almost four decades coach in football. He's a football guy at its core. He's from Ohio. Obviously I think when it's all said and done he winds up going in Cincinnati if he's number one overall pick but again. If it's GonNa Happen it's GonNa Happen. Not In the media. It's GonNa happen behind the scenes again. Joe Bro not expected to throw on Thursday. He said he just wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal. Sam Darnold Kyla Murray. The last two years have opted not to throw here at the combine as well. What did make headlines on Sunday? Oddly enough pros hand measurements the measurable quarterbacks took place on Sunday on the smaller side. Love listen here's what he said after it was suggested his aunt size was small considering retirement after. I was informed that we slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts while he's got good company because here's what Super Bowl fifty four. Mvp Patrick Mahomes had to say who had just slightly larger hands than did borough my small Andrew doing great so far all right he should say believe in yet. Here's borough earlier today addressing his hands. Yeah I mean these measurements you can. You can take so much from them if it's a glaring issue on film with turnovers. Yeah it's probably an issue but I didn't have a lot of fumbles or anything like that so I just tried to make a little joke out of it I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to talk about. Measurements and analyze. The measurements like played to play football. So that's what I'm GONNA do. I look we're not gonNA make too much of this question. Well yet about what? They actually do what they're actually measuring here so worry not. We've got a ruler. We've got Louis at. I mean really what you're really trying to do is just trying to measure the expense of someone and they put it down on the ground and you actually hear about guys actually doing hand exercises to stretch their hand as wide as possible although when you're grabbing a football you're actually going to measure from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Pinky here and this is hard because this is a hard rule and you can't really get good accurate measuring you look tired type by just under nine right. Look I'll give you a non center's Oh that's attention and would have actually done something with my. I mean what's interesting when you watch the tape of Joe Borough? There are situations where people come from behind strip him when he's trying to move up in the pocket and run. I mean that's going to happen if you have nine if you have ten inches so I mean it's not a glaring obvious problem as far as him on the football field and that's why I think it's really. It's just going to be something that will hopefully wind up forgetting about certain the biggest thing is and you know this with all of these drills you know as well. Mike you go back to the tape and you're trying to find something after the fact that says okay. Now I'm going to look specifically at these things so you're gonNA look cold weather rain and then ball security and Joe Boroughs as good as any college quarterback you're ever going to see in the pocket in terms of two hands on the ball and protecting the ball. I saw him in two thousand eighteen the last weekend. In September against Ole Miss. You can go back and watch the tape. My suit was soaking wet when I did the open of that game. It was pouring rain driving rain in anyone who says it doesn't rain in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is lying to you. Because it poured and he completed seventy two percent of his throws with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in that game. So you go back to the tape and you try to look at these things and what the tape tells you is. He's just fine. You know I had a theory here. I have an interesting experience with hand size so I was forced out in two thousand eight. We were we trade for Brett Farve and just as a fan of sport. I can't wait to go out to the first practice and watch Brett farve throw. There's nothing physically imposing about breath and he goes out there and he's throwing Abe I've ever seen and I ask them like what is the value. Where's this philosophy comes from it? He said you know what Mike I have long fingers and I actually couple of football the way a lot of people throw a softball. I could actually be over the top and that's where I get all my philosophy from just watching my practice. It was unbelievable to watch though. I know as Lewis show. There's a tradition of how we measure hands but finger. Length is actually an underrated aspect of playing quarterback so far so far small hands but long fingers and you know what my pinky and all the time strong throwing football pictures of the five. It's easily the least important finger in the hand and I can't remember it ever being a big factor. It's all there in the grip. The pinky to me doesn't matter. It's archaic. How we're measuring the quarterback's hand span now with that. Said there's thirty four quarterbacks in the last fourteen years who have been drafted that have had hands of nine inches and smaller and really only two of them had any sort of Sustained Success Ryan. Tannehill is one of them and Jared. Goff is the other. That's it so there are thirty two out of thirty four. Who have failed. But are we going to say that he's going to the Joe Boroughs? Not GonNa have success because his hands tells me that the reason for their failure wasn't because they were nine inches weight.
NFL Week 7
"Let's get into the Games for Sunday pain we can start at Lucas oil stadium we're we're looking at Indianapolis a modest one point home favourite total in this game forty seven at Fox but of course to Houston Texans have been dynamic of late F one four out of their last five covered the last four have a little bit of playoff revenge on their minds for a game that they were dominated by Andrew Luck in company to the tune of twenty one seven season ago and in a unique scheduling quirk or call it what you will both teams actually enter Sunday's game fresh off a victory against the Kansas City chiefs interesting did not know that why Chins I didn't know I didn't really realize that listen I think when we look at this matchup we look at this game we're starting to see what the Texans offense has the potential to be right with a little help up front we've kind of seen flashes the last few seasons of you know in the lead offense when it's healthy Wendy Shawn Watson has it rolling and he's confident is a passer which you look the last two weeks Houston's had the best pass protection in the Watson air and I think that's pretty important moving forward the ground game has also been on fire something that the Houston Texans could not do last year was run the ball consistently would fizzle out constantly in the red zone and it's because I think they found some consistency upfront finally right you found your five guys as the talent is playing spots I think that suit them best in you're looking through the last two weeks eight pressures fifty six percent of runs of grades so now let's see if that continues because it's it's it's a two-game sample it's a byproduct of probably facing the chiefs and Falcons defenses and I think also the right is Howard injury at right tackle could shake up some of that piece of this that I've kind of been alluding to their other thing in this match up that's kind of caught my attention and it kind of is a a broader point a topic that we've discussed Ad Nauseam ruin knows at this point we liked the coach's coaching staff of the colts were not fond of it for the Houston Texans and I think coaching tends to matter when the opponent is familiar and everybody kind of knows what each other wants to do and it's the coaching staff that comes out and has the power Henschel or ability to make adjustments and make changes and I think the team that does that rise probably the colts and you look last season these guys play each other three times in the I meeting which was the first time Frank Reich saw this team Shawn Watson has seven point one yards per pass in week four that number tumbles to five point three per pass in week fourteen and then you had the quick turnaround Wildcard Game Watson was held a four point two yard pass at home and I think that's interesting it's something that you have to talk about here there's another element play and it's one we've talked about I think we talked about it on the Monday night breakdown of the new CBA about home teams coming off the bye and they generally haven't performed overly well it's you know about forty one percent of the time they're covering think it's positive if you've done some reading this week Frank Reich iterative that this was not a time to vacation that this was rest recover and mentally focused on the bye week there was no vacation time no one was allowed to travel so it would make me nervous in a pick em game choosing bill over Frank Reich and you know it just it that becomes magnified when you have two weeks the game plan

"Did the did talk inside Lucas oil stadium in Indianapolis tonight was all about was not about Jacoby percent don't want a twelve yard touchdown pass the error even run it in the first second quarter it was about what happened before the game Andrew luck going out and working out in front of everybody for the first time since the team showed him now as such the three weeks ago he was out there working out working on some agility drills you know jumping over pads going side to side because you'll his biggest issue is he's having a lot of pain and ankle when he's moving around in the pocket from side to side and in order for him to get back out there from a mental standpoint along the fence was there when he's got a should believe in himself that he's able to get out there and not be thinking about his ankle in the fact that he went out in the public and did it was definitely a step in the right direction I asked head coach Frank Reich about that after the game you know that assigned today and you look is getting close to returning to the practice field and he kind of downplayed he's a bigger we they're going to evaluate him the next couple days right said several days ago that he wants to be able to make a decision on whether Angela is ready to start week one against the LA Chargers by the end of the third preseason game so from a week a week from Monday he was real to say it's gonna be Jacoby recess start against Philip rivers and the Chargers wharf and your local get back out there the key is and what is not going to play in the preseason you know there's been no indication that he'll be out on the practice field playing against the bears but he is a veteran quarterback he does not need to take game snaps because the preseason like a little too is just pre season nobody cares about it it's all about getting those practice reps to the venue looks out there the goal to have a great chance to take another step for this

"Three WABC robbed Hendel, the rob KENDALL show. Thanks for joining us. Doping gate on Twitter at Robin KENDALL spending much of our first hour. The show today talking about the boneheaded idea by the mayor of Indianapolis, Joe Hawke set to literally steal money from the suburbs. His proposal to fund infrastructure in Indianapolis says that he should be able to take income taxes from the Donut county and give it to himself. And we've been picking that apart a here in the first hour. So if you live in a caramel or zions Ville, or Greenwood or Brownsboro, you need to listen up because the mayor of Indianapolis wants to take money that you contribute to your city and county and he wants it for himself. And he says you're obligated to pay that to him because he's earned it because you might have to drive here for work. Take a listen after decades of underfunding. It is abundantly clear that any solution for Marion county's infrastructure problems must include. Help from all who routinely use that infrastructure years of underfunding. This guy had enough money has enough money, laying around for four four hundred thirty million dollars in new bus lines, red green blue purple all the colors of the rainbow rainbow. They've got a bus line plan for it. It's actually just red blue and purple. But the point is, you've got four hundred and thirty million dollars for bus lines that aren't necessary most people don't want you've been downtown been around Indianapolis or signs everywhere about it. But you're going ahead with that. You know of any pot holes and roads. Four hundred thirty million bucks would, would would would fix Mr Mayor. If you if you don't I'll be happy to tell you. It's a lot. It's most of them, but mayor Joe hogs. It doesn't want to get us fiscal house in order, he doesn't want to stop spending. He doesn't want to stop his liberal ideology. So he believes because he believes he's underfunded. It's somebody else's fault. So the he can't do the job of tease underfunded. And so now because there's no more left take from the people in Indianapolis. I mean, if you're in the Indianapolis, fear, Mary county, the big about it, you've raised, your taxes, ton over the past couple years, because liberal politicians have told you, it's the right thing to do massive tax increase fry PS, two fund public schools in Indianapolis and a massive commuter tax. Well, where's the commuter tax money, going under, we under underfunding the citizens voluntarily raise their own taxes that money could go to roads, but it's not going to the bus lines. It's going to Joe hogs. That's big liberal ideas. And so if you're sitting here saying, well, you know, I do drive downtown. Okay. But I ask you again as I asked you in the last segment, let's play this thing out. Let's see where it's where workshops, I spend I drive downtown. I spent a couple minutes every day on city of Indianapolis roads. I spend the vast majority of my time on roads in the county in which I live. So should I pay money to somebody that I drive on those roads for a couple of minutes, a day, should I say, screw it to the people who provide the vast majority of the services that I use? And, and because that's what the mayor wants to do. Remember, he wants to extract money out of the Donut counties and shame them because you work downtown. This guy at four hundred thirty million bucks. Plus lines, but you should feel bad, and he should be able to take money from your county. But let's play this out as we didn't last segment. I live in an incorporated town. I live in the town of Brownsboro, and that means I pay for roads in that town every single day. I'm I'm surrounded by people in townships. They don't live in the corporated areas. But they live near me. And so as a result, they have to drive on roads that I find town roads in order to get to work. So should I is the town of able to tax people in the townships should I be able to take their money? I mean they've we play it out to the degree, which is what the mayor wants to do. And at least we're in the same county. At least we're actually neighbors, you can you imagine if you tried to tax people in the townships? Can you imagine? If you went to the township, the people live in unincorporated areas, if you if you were in the city of Greenwood or the city caramels pay up. But that's what the mayor wants to do. Now, if you're saying to yourself. It seems like this has happened before because it has every day. When I get to work during driving into work. I drive pass Lucas oil stadium. And it is a concert reminder of the major contribution. I and every other person in the Donut counties of which mayor Joe wants to steal money from have already had money taken from them every single day. We contribute to the city of Indianapolis, and we do it through the food and beverage tax, every time you buy a hamburger. You buy a soda for every dollar you spend one penny is tacked on. To go to the city of Indianapolis to pay for Lucas oil stadium. Where he did that. Are you aware that you do that? Every time you buy a soda or sandwich or order fries. You're paying for Lucas oil stadium. Which directly helps the city of Indianapolis. Stay afloat. You remember the little stroll down memory lane. Remember, Bart Peterson the last democrat mayor of the city of Indianapolis, a trend here in a trend that every time we have a democrat mayor of Indianapolis, they need to extract money from the town from the, the, the surrounding counties, because they can't keep their act together syncing a trend here when they built Lucas oil stadium tax payer funded as it might have been. They didn't have enough money to staff. They had enough money to build it. They had enough tax payer funded money to build it. They didn't have enough money to staff it. And so the deal that the mayor and governor, Mitch Daniels, and fairness struck with the legislature was the ability to level of food and beverage tax on the doughnut counties. So one penny on every dollar that you spend goes to Lucas oil stadium. Take a look at your tax Bill next time. The sales tax on most things in Indiana seven percent. So that means if you know you go in and buy five dollars worth of widgets, you're gonna pay seven percent of those widgets. So your total five thirty five. If you buy five dollars worth of food, buy food. I'm talking sandwich. Soda fast food joint restaurants, etc. That bill's going to be five forty and it's going to be five forty because the additional five cents is going to marry hog set to fund his stadium. Now is mayor hawks had given any of the tax money that he gets from that stadium back to the counties, because I mean, if we're all in this together, if we're all sharing together, should I be getting some of that back in Brown's work? Yeah. Right. Yeah. Right now. Not that the counties are completely blameless in this food, and beverage tax because what they enabled most of the Donut counties to do the, the cities and towns. And these Dona counties was to take an extra penny for their own use so many municipalities and central Indiana your food and beverage tax nine percent nine percent. But the catalyst for that. Was Lucas oil stadium. You already contribute, whether you eat and Browns Berg, or you eating caramel, or you Edens, zion's Ville, or you eat in whites town..

"We're coming to you from Mark one buffalo studio on a cloudy day. The bills are indoors practicing. You're getting set to play indoors at Lucas oil stadium on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Did you like living in India when you played it was the RCA playing on that team was different than most teams nowadays because we'd roll into town in the lobby be full of people. Yeah. I keep telling me was like traveling. It was like I was carrying a a drum for the Beatles. Right. I was like a rodeo roadies that would help them set up their stage Thurman was ringing and instead of instead of John Paul, Ringo, George, George. It was Bruce Jim Thurman, Andrei biscuit, and Daryl and those guys so it was just a bigger band. And so it was fun. Any Annapolis was fun because they. You know, typically, they they weren't. A great team back in the nineties and so. Yeah. It was fun to go in and go in there. And it's a nice little town. Nice. Hotel was nice. The proximity of the stadium was nice and short flight there and back as RCA dome was loud. If if you let them get into it. But they didn't do a term. Indianapolis was a nice town Lucas oil stadium. Now referee on sunny is brand Allen hasn't done a bills game yet this year CBS game as well as a radio game Spiro Dita's in March lead who did the bills game against the titans? A couple of weeks ago. Get the call on the bills colts game last year in the snow. Oh, yeah. Was there sideline guy? Adam March I played golf with Adam this last off season. He's smart guy. He's serious though. You know, he's he's like one of those thinkers, you know, so. He's not he's not a guy like him. He's a good, dude. I liked I enjoyed playing golf with him. We had fun that day. But he is a serious, dude. He's a I can tell why he was a good player. He's a thinker. Derek Anderson gets the start Sean McDermott made the announcement about an hour ago. What do you think of that give us a call eight? Oh, three oh, five fifty toll free one eight eight eight five fifty to five fifty or on Twitter at one Bill live will read some of your tweets coming up. Let's take a phone call or to Charlie on the line. Hello, charlie. Go ahead. Welcome. Good afternoon. Guys. How you doing great? The question I wanted to compare this situation a few years ago we had each manual here. And he was struggling real bad in Kyle award came off the bench, and he helped off the team a lot. I think this guy here Ellen shirts. I know that. But I think he could come in. We can protect him. We can get the players to catch the ball in one patterns, and we get a running game going, and we have a strong defense. I think we can be every game the rest of the year. John I just like to ask your opinions about that. Yeah. I I know what you're talking about. Obviously I was here a couple of years ago when that happened that a couple of differences first of all I think the bills feel like in Josh Allen. It's a totally different totally different regime in charge here, they feel like Josh Allen is way ahead of where they were with EJ manual. I think they feel like he is a much more talented passer and as much greater potential than EJ when EJ was benched he came after I believe if I'm right here after the game in Houston where JJ watt picked off ran it back eighty yards and Doug Marrone was the coach. And and I know Marrone was and I talked to him about it essentially was done with Jay manual enough. I've had enough and they played in the rest of the way. That's not the case here. I think when Josh Allen is is ready and healthy. He'll be back in probably be starting for this team. But I see your point. And it turned out to be a pretty good find and had a pretty good year for the bills that year. They did not make the playoffs. They won a little bit. And that could happen. We'll see. But I I do think the situations are a little bit different. There's never, you know, two years that are exactly the same because you're dealing with human beings and EJ manual is not Josh Allen. And Kyle Orton is not Derek Anderson and Doug Marrone, certainly isn't Sean Sean McDermott. So there's a lot of things in play there that and this team is built differently in a little bit and runs a little differently than the team did back when Kyle Orton took over. But I see the same moves were made. I mean, you put a young quarterback output a veteran quarterback in behind him when the young quarterbacks struggles in this case, they took their young. Quarterback out because he was injured. So I think when you get down the road of this, and you start trying to anticipate is probably you figure out a best case scenario, right, Murph. You figure out how it could possibly go. Derek Anderson comes in plays extremely well. Better than a Kyle Orton did on a team that was built to maybe play a little better offensively than they are. And certainly they're playing well defensively. You win a lot of games. He make a push for the playoffs. Maybe even better than that. That's best case scenario, and the worst case scenario is that you keep getting guys danged you keep getting your quarterback debut. Keep getting a guy off the, you know, one more guy one more guy one more guy or you get you know, they just continues to go on sideways like it's been going early in this season. So. And it's probably what happens is something in between all of that somewhere in that gray area between both extremes. And what that looks like is going to remain to be seen. I think you're right. I mean, I think what you can very easily envision is that the offense is a little more efficient than it was. And you're running games a little better because you're passing game completes a few more higher percentage of its passes. You take some plays that are there. But there's also, you know. There's also things you can't anticipate. I mean, that's the whole problem with this thing is somebody else gonna get hurt. You know, your jamais shady goes down with with an ankle or toe injury. Why would you say that all this stuff is in l is stuff in play? But I think what you can count on is the office can look a little bit better. But you've got your counting on a defense to play at a level that we haven't seen in a while they play they're playing lights out there. They're churning out four turnovers last week, and they should have had five to ice the game. I mean, that's. -ticipant that right. You're right now. So it will see there's strength in Rochester. Trent you're on the air with this. Go ahead. Guys. I really expect a ball control game. I do expect more efficient passing game. I know the playbook probably won't be wide open for Derek Anderson. But I expect them to look like the veteran. Here's I also expect them to look like he hasn't at times. But I do believe that the bills will going out in play. Like Steve was saying some really good defense. I think Andrew love his in for World War three off. I believe that the bills play will carry the sentiments in the most of the fans of houses games only got away from the last week. So I really believe that Derek Anderson will have opportunities afforded to the normal because of the play of the deep sense. Therefore, the output of the office will come as a surprise to someone who's not looking at it the way I'm looking at it from my my perspective. So. Team come out points on the board guys that usually don't make plays like Andre homes and in those guys to get into the mix. Derek Anderson with wrote a who. I believe they'll win this game. And the score. Steve believe it or not will be thirty something, but it won't be because of their Anderson avenue such a great game is just. Some short some things because. Is going to be number one place. This sunday. They're on the way guys. Two more games. You'll be number one in the NFL. That's my prediction. Thanks for letting me talk. Thanks trent. Get full crystal ball mode there. He's he lays out, exactly. Yeah. And and it's a rose colored crystal ball, so but I get it. I mean, that's we're all kind of projecting. What happened last week with the defense onto this next week? And listen, Derek Anderson, one of the things you also know that he was here for a week. He saw that defense week two weeks ago play against the Tennessee titans on you know, he's seen that film. And then he was here for the bills playing against teams on the sidelines against the Houston. Texans. He knows this too. If he doesn't he doesn't have to. Outperform expectations. All he s he can throw it away. He's not here to to to set. Completion percentage records. He's not here to light it up for three hundred yards a game. He can throw it away on third down. He can throw it away on second down. He knows he's got a defense. He can lean on he knows they we need to ball control. And it's perfectly fine for him to hand off to he doesn't have some sort of personal legacy for career that he's trying to preserve or have it or knock it out of the part stick statistically individually. He knows he's got a great defense. He's experienced experienced enough to know that he can just throw it in the ground. You know, take a loss on the play. Hold onto the football pundit away or live to fight another down. He knows how conservatively he can play with a defense playing the way it is. And that's probably a good thing from the tweet sheet from Michael wild. When we answer question. What's a realistic expectation for the buffalo offense with Derek Anderson? This week. Michael Wilde says I think we are not off plan. I think we are back on plan. I feel they wanted AJ McCarron to start. And then as soon as Josh was ready. He would go in the plan. Coach always talked about is now back in place. I get that argument. I don't know if it went the way they planned they didn't the if the end justifies the plan. Yeah, we're in the middle of it. I get that argument. I can see why you might think that and Brian cook I fully expect the bills to win this game. I suspect that our offense will be competent. But not great. Our defense will do what they do. We actually might get two hundred or more yards passing this week. Yeah. Maybe that maybe. Yeah. You could see that. That's easy. And I and I asked this to brownie when we had him on the field during practice if I'm on that team. And it's easy for me to put myself in this spot. I really can't I I'm like. I'm like getting a jolt of adrenaline. Why for if I'm a receiver if I'm Kelvin Benjamin?.

"The broadcast from Lucas oil stadium place with Texans have won two out of three. It's also been two out of fifteen so yes to last three, but to a fifteen going up there looking to make it three of sixteen on Sunday is a difficult place to win. It is a confident young and aggressive colts team. It's a team that figures are playing with house money. Nobody had any expectations of the colts this year. Came back. All man, maybe the colts will be okay, maybe the wind five six games. There are no expectations for the colts this year whatsoever. They're playing with house money, and it shows every time they are on the field there. Let it all hang loose. Well, the Texans have to answer on paper, which is a dangerous thing to do. But on paper the Texans are more overall talented team. And as such the expectations have been higher for the Texans. And they have not lived up to them in the first three weeks. Now could they have could they have come through the victory. They've lost by one score seven three and five. What are they don't fall on the first play the game of New England? What if they don't give up that fake punt Tennessee what if they could come up with one turnover down in the red zone against the New York Giants? Maybe you're talking about three team. That's the difference between three and three. You know? That's the difference between three and shoot one two small things little things as I mentioned earlier. The various things this team hasn't done. It must do the false start penalties. The goal to go penalties. The mistakes the inefficiency scoring once in scoring territory. They've got to put it all together. To walk out of there with the w team has not a sunny road game since they've been in Indianapolis, December eleventh two thousand sixteen love to be able to get on a plane fly home with this team. After a w they need it. We all need city needs it. Well, most importantly, we just have to play better overall start to finish sixty minutes of complete football. See what this team can't do what it can be in two thousand eighteen because I don't think we've seen it. I know we haven't seen it. But what can we do on Sunday afternoon if we play clean game, reduce the penalties? Score touchdowns in golden. Go situations score points when you're scoring territory and play defense like you know, this group can play for sixty four minutes finish the game come home with a w the colts expect to win. They don't know any better they expect to win. Like, I said playing with house money that's kind of a it's a fun spot to be. There's no expect would expect us do anything. Let's go play. That's where the colts are. You got to answer that you've got to answer all day long. But as of right now talking's over it's done nothing. You can do about it. But go play on Sunday. No doubt about that. Got a lot of people to thank God. Thank god. Thank Tyler urban. Gotta think Mark Vandam your Bryant gain create Jackson will fuller. Dorothy, all of you for listening to my guys back in studio at six ten really. Appreciate your help. We will see you on Sunday. And hopefully at the end come around three thirty central time. We'll be talking about a one in three football team. Not our own four football team. Appreciate y'all very much. We'll see you then everybody. There's always go Texans. Touchdown..
