What Happened to Whoopi and Oprah?

"There's so many different type of topics that I want to cover here. And I want to cover this one, which is the Whoopi Goldberg thing. So apparently Whoopi's name is really Karen. Is that right? I miss old whoopie. I do. Old Whoopi was awesome. Do you know that she was in Star Trek? The next generation? Her name was like guillain or something? Want to say? Is that right? Do we have any truckies in there? You can look it up. Guinan. Yeah, I wasn't too far off. That's right. With Jean Luc Picard and the next generation. This is just whoopie used to be someone that was like fun and magnanimous and just kind of kind of an American icon, honestly. At a very distinct name and a great way about her, but she's kind of descended into the same sort of character arc of Oprah. And I'm not going to racialize this, but they racialize it, but Whoopi and Oprah were to beloved, black women of the 1990s. Whoopi and Oprah were stories of perseverance, at least Oprah. I don't know Whoopi's personal story. And of talent, they're both obviously very talented. Whoopi Goldberg was excellent in sister act and color purple, but what happened to Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah and both are super rich. I mean, Oprah is really rich. How rich is Oprah now? How rich is Oprah? $2.7 billion? That's a lot. And Oprah started from absolutely nothing and she's built an amazing career for herself. 1980s and 1990s Oprah, she was charming. She was fun. She was fair, she was honest. 3.5 billion, okay. She had her whole deal in downtown Chicago. Which was harpo studios and Oprah has just turned into an surprisingly nasty person. And so has Whoopi Goldberg, I don't know, maybe someone can explain it to me how the more successful they get the meaner they

And in <Speech_Male> particular, because <Speech_Male> the newest <Speech_Male> variant <Speech_Male> has come up <Speech_Male> just prior <Speech_Male> to the holidays, right? <Speech_Male> And going into a <Speech_Male> special time, <Speech_Male> travel is <Speech_Male> thrown out the window <Speech_Male> gatherings, <Speech_Male> even though we <Speech_Male> had to limit anyway <Speech_Male> and parts of <Speech_Male> the world, all of that. <Speech_Male> So man, <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> whenever <Speech_Male> we get to a place <Speech_Male> where we're looking <Speech_Male> back and <Speech_Male> not wondering what the <Speech_Male> future is going to look like, <Speech_Male> that's <Speech_Male> going to be a welcome time. <Speech_Male> All right, well, <Speech_Male> we've <Speech_Male> got lots <Speech_Male> to get to both <Speech_Male> from an NHL perspective <Speech_Male> and a <Speech_Male> world

We've gotta start off with the changes on the ice. Obviously three free agent signings on free agency day and vladimir kochav coming in. We'll start with him. I am how long were the kings as far as you're aware of Looking at vladimir kacha to bring him here. I think it's been what koch f i mean without us. Knowing too much our guys have been on him for a couple of years talking to him but this past year I ten in a couple of the meetings when we're talking about him and And blakey started talking to his agent in a what all of our european scout christian route. Two and mr go petar and they were watching him and so forth so but i know our guys have been on him for a couple years but we knew like this year was was the year like deion because over there when a guy's in in russia he's got out of his contract to it's never easy at doughty At the end of last season drew doughty made his comments. And i think fans and media probably made more of it than than was necessary. And then recently i think it was on Thirty two thoughts or talking to american friedman i think and they talked about the signings of editor and the trade for arvidsson and the signing of no and they said. Do you feel like the kings were responding to what you said. And he started laughing and he said no. There was always in the king's plans to make these improvements. He's happy that they did. But certainly it wasn't like you know he told you guys to do something in un out and did it It sounds like it was always in the plans right to to slowly when we when we when we said a few years ago we had a plan and we had to go part of it is obviously as as things are moving things evolve but when we started looking at a roster last year we clearly could tell that we needed A little bit of help for the next two years and and we always talked about getting a couple of guys that can help us on our top. Six because to expect geyser eighteen nineteen twenty twenty one year old even twenty two year olds to come in and help you win the cup right away. It's not fair. No for them to come in and help you win gains in helped you go. Yes but dany you know to to become a dump player takes appears to establish yourself. I mean you know you could go. Connor mcdavid came in the league. Us really good. But the all the orders warned johnnie. It wasn't surrounded while at the beginning..

How Chaos In Afghanistan Emboldened Terrorism - burst 1

"Chaos in afghanistan upton as president biden withdrew military forces leading to a forceful takeover by the taliban today august seventeenth. We will dive into one of the greatest foreign policy. The buckles in modern history. Good afternoon. i'm meeting. Kim and this is the outspoken oma quote. Joe biden has been wrong on nearly every major foreign policy national security issue over the past four decades and quote. Who said that not trump not a partisan congressmen or republican operative. That was robert gates. The former secretary of defense under president obama for three years and today as we see significant foreign policy the buckle unfolds in afghanistan that quote is once again reaffirmed now quickly dive into some basic background information as to what is transpiring in afghanistan back in mid april president biden announced immediate withdrawal all american troops from afghanistan by september eleventh. Twenty twenty one. Obviously september eleven was chosen dates because that was to recognize the anniversary of the september eleventh terrorist attacks and which led to the immediate was occupation of afghanistan because at the time afghanistan was harboring osama bin laden on august fifteenth. The taliban took over the capital of kabul effectively toppling. Afghanistan's governments later afghan. President ghani fled the country right before taliban leadership storm the presidential palace and thousands of afghan citizens fled to kabul international airport to skip the taliban. Now while oldest was transpiring. President biden was in camp david and he was strong criticized because he didn't have a strong message or strong immediate message in response to all of this so he traveled back to washington. Dc to address the nation from the white house one of the biggest elements that he was criticized for in the speech was the blame game in which he played and one of the obviously notable people in which she blames forwarded the buckle in afghanistan was trump and sort of implied some blame to bush and obama. He said quote when i came into office. I inherited deal that president trump negotiated with taliban on the his agreement. Us forces would be out of afghanistan. May i twenty twenty one. Just a little over three months after i took office. Us forces had already drawn down during trump administration from roughly fifteen thousand five hundred american force to two thousand five hundred troops in country. The taliban was strongest militarily. Since two dozen one the choice i had to make as your president was added to follow through on that agreement or be prepared to go back to fighting the taliban in the middle of the spring fighting season and quote. And but if you actually look at the deal that trump's state department may with taliban it's not what biden actually described in his address at a nation. Mike pompeo who was secretary of state under president trump said in a recent interview that the deal of the taliban was strictly conditional which meant that deal was was strictly predicated on the taliban committing to a peaceful transfer of power in order for america to withdraw after that commitment to a peaceful transfer of power appel said in a recent interview quote we would have demanded the taliban actually deliver on the conditions that we let out in the agreement including the agreement to engage in meaningful power sharing agreement some that which we struggled to get them to do but made it clear it was going to be required before we completed requirements to fulfil foley withdrawal and unquote. And you know there are some criticisms of the deal. Mike pompeo made with the taliban. Obviously the taliban actually pursuing a peaceful transfer of power from the afghan government was not going to happen. I mean we actually thought. That was being overly idealistic. So people had that criticism upon pales deal but even if biden did not agree with the policy that trump's state departments made in efforts to come to some sort of consensus with the taliban he kind of reversed it. I mean he was president for seven months. Which meant that. He'd independence day department and independence defense department and he could have used his powers as the chief executive to to reverse a deal that the previous administration made i mean for his entire time as president of the united states reversed nearly every single policy. That trump did while he was president. So this is no exception. I mean he should own up to the flaws of the policies in which he tried to pursue in addition to to trump he also blamed the afghan military. He said quote. The truth is but this did on for the more quickly than we had anticipated. So what happened. Afghanistan political leader escape up and fled the country the afghan military collapse. Sometimes we're not trying to fight if anything developments at the past week reinforced the ending. Us military involvement in afghanistan. No was the right decision. American troops cannot ensure not be fighting a war and dying in award. Afghan forces are not willing to fight for themselves and quotes. This is honestly one of the most politically cynical things that i've ever heard biden say the afghan forces are not willing to fight for themselves. Fifty thousand afghan military soldiers died in darndest entire two decades of us occupation of afghanistan. And the reason why they cannot successively defend themselves against the taliban was because biden himself pulled out a contractors and basically destroyed the afghans dependency on us military which are obviously undermined the ability of afghan military to counter act opposing taliban forces. According to the wall street journal quote in the wake of president biden's withdrawal decision the us pulled its airports air support intelligence and contractors servicing afghanistan planes and helicopters. This meant that afghan military simply cannot operate anymore and quote. Admittedly afghan leadership was significantly underprepared in the wake of the draw because as by afghan officials did not believe america will draw however according to andrew watkins a senior analyst for afghanistan and at the international prizes group research advocacy organization. There was no evidence that the taliban significantly increased their manpower and argue. The only reason why there's summer offensive was successful was due to a lack of us. Air strikes which meant that biden's administration shorter significant blame for the dismantling of the afghan government. What biden actually expect to happen when he pulled the entire the tire. Us presence from afghanistan if the afghan military dependent so much on the us occupation of afghan for the viability of their own independent military force. Then of course when they pulled out of afghanistan. The afghan military by itself was not sufficient enough to defend against the taliban if you're pulling out intelligence contracts that were vital for the dependency of the afghan military than have military is expected to fall when the taliban was advancing to the nation's capital and one of the other things that addition to buy actually blaming everyone except for himself for the marco afghanistan biden also discussed casualties in the in the afghan occupation. He said quote. Lemme ask those who wanted to wanted us to stay. How many more how. Many thousands more of american daughters and sons are willing to risk and quotes according to abc news. There's not been a single american combat death since february eighth twenty which was eighteen months ago. That's not to belittle the two thousand three hundred twelve american soldiers that lost life in afghanistan. But it is the suggests that thousands of stationed american soldiers in the lead up to the afghanistan pull out were not being bogged down by precipitous warfare in combat honestly by contrast more than fifty one thousand taliban fighters were killed by american armed forces which shows a major power imbalance in military superiority between taliban in american forces but aside from that by reportedly sent five thousand additional troops back in afghanistan to aid withdrawal despite his call for not putting sons and daughters at risk he just said that it was egregious to put american sons and daughters at risk for filled mission. So what is different about the five thousand additional troops. He sending back into afghanistan. Aren't those sons and daughters. Also at risk and to add insult injury tens of thousands of american citizens have been left behind it in afghanistan in the withdrawal according to the washington according to wall street journal an estimated ten thousand fifteen thousand new citizens remained in afghanistan so yes it is tragic. Every single american soldier died in. afghanistan is a tragedy. No one is disputing dance but suggests that afghanistan was a present danger to the current military soldiers. There from february twenty is simply not true and biden. Really closer to speech with i think when idiotic things that he said in his entire speech close with kohl's diplomacy he said quote. We will continue to support the afghan people we will lead before. Diplomacy or international influence in or humanitarian aid will continue to push for regional diplomacy and engaging prevent violence and instability will continue to speak out for the basic rights at the afghan people of women and girls just as we speak all around the world and quote and my question is just how. How can you negotiate with radical barbaric terrorist group that subject it's ethnic religious and gender minorities to brutal torture and murder. How can you negotiate with democratic for cystic regime. That is responsible for thousands of american lives. I mean honestly gonna ask nicely are gonna get on your knees and begged them to treat the afghanistan woman fairly. I mean i don't understand why biden continues to believe that's diplomacy instead of for actually using military forces is the correct way to go and this brings us back to. What was this for honestly at the end of the day with withdrawn. Us military forces from afghanistan he effectively reversed two decades of foreign policy and the initial mission of counter terrorism and preventing a staging ground for al-qaeda according to the pentagon united states government has been eighty three billion dollars in bolstering the afghanistan government and which is effectively gone to waste. I mean we spend easily billion dollars to bolster an afghan military but the afghan military is so reliance on the american forces to to help them to secure them. But when the american forces are removed from the afghan military to aid them than the billion dollar investment goes down the drain and now according to you defense and state department officials six billion dollars in military equipment including eight hundred fifty mine-resistant ambushed protected vehicles were abandoned in withdrawal which six billion dollars in. Us military equipment is now in the hands of taliban and other terrorist organizations additionally chairman of the joint chiefs of staff mark milley addressed congressional leaders and said that they will move the terrorist threats in afghanistan from medium according to axios which meant that. Obviously you're going to see a rise in terrorism and afghanistan and now that the taliban effectively controls its governments and to add insult injury the inside reports that taliban militants released thousands of prisoners from afghan prisons with links to islamic jihadist groups and al qaeda. So what has changed in the past two decades. We've tried to counter terrorism. We tried to decrease the the influence of kind of effectively imprisoning or killing al qaeda militants. We tried to decrease the the power of the taliban and we tried to effectively counteract attacks by the islamic jihadist groups. But it seems to me after this withdrawal after the dust settled what is going to be. The state of afghanistan will be similar to the state of afghanistan when we first invaded and his brings me to a new york times article which discussed heavier mackey. Who was a former first class army. Special forces soldier with several afghanistan deployments and will shot twice and he said in an interview with the new york times quote. I sacrificed a lot. I saw death every day every year. And the guys. I soaked with new would probably come to an end like this. But the chaos and made his andre after everything we gave. I just wish that had been away to leave. With honor and quote for people like mackey. There is a question that rang in numerous veterans. What was it for the situation. Afghanistan has become similar to america. I evaded two decades ago. All the bloodshed in lives lost in pursuit of counter-terrorism only define the terrorism revitalize. This president has trade the continuing efforts of veterans and committed a damaging dereliction of duty as commander in chief of the armed forces is devastating. "Luc Rosie Jack is an investigative reporter along with Leo two point Oh, Terrell, I think the biggest, you know the most glaring hypocrisy in all of this and also fits into the situation that was unfolding this week with Jimmy Carter and his wife and Jill and Joe Biden. What was the point? Luke Rosie Jack of wearing the mask outside, socially distant, fully vaccinated. Joe and Joe Biden walking in with Mass gone into the Carters home. Take In the mall for pictures at with no social distancing of right on top of each other, and then putting the mask on when they go back outside, and nobody else is around them. What's the point of that primary reason for any of it, including what the CDC is doing? I mean, they came out got into this week about summer camps where they've got kids wearing masks outside. In 90 degree heat in July socially distant. Don't forget exercising. They have a lack of oxygen. They're gonna be passing out and the point of this, really? It raises the specter of all they're gonna open schools next year, as you indicated. I mean, Joe Biden won't even say yes. And the point of this school closures was the $128 billion that the teachers got. In the Corona virus bail out now Students don't really get coronavirus. Teachers aren't less risk in other professions, and they use this first to put themselves at the head of the line to get vaccine. So they're getting vaccines during the period reserved for the elderly. So the teacher takes the vaccine. An elderly person may die. Think about what has to be think about the mentality that that entails that you would take a vaccine from an elderly person. And then even after they get the vaccine, they indicate we may not come back. And at the end of the day, the quote science was that if you give us $128 billion, which have nothing to do with the coronavirus, because it doesn't have to be spent until the year 2028. Then it will be safe. So this idea that they way you got to trust the science and I'll just call up this guy named science and he'll tell me what it is. I mean, there's no such thing is trust the science, but especially now when they're politicizing all of these agencies and behaving in ways that are totally irrational, the idea that you would get a vaccine and then refused to come back to work when Children are suffering it. It's child abuse. I was they always and you could see what's happening in New York. They kind of have their own little version of this passport. Leo, You're a civil rights attorney. I don't know. Maybe I'm just one of the few people that believes a medical privacy and to me You know, everyone's lecturing everybody else on what they need to do medically here. I think the public does need to be informed. And as the pandemic, you know, as we learned Maura Maura, as time went on, we went from Fauci march of 2020 telling us we don't need mass mass are gonna do a damn thing. Toe one mass than later, two masks and all the projections of all the experts were wrong. I got a couple of things right and that is that the elderly with the most susceptible from the very beginning that remain. Constant. We were right that the science in terms of vaccines once they broke down the sequence and of the virus in record time. We knew that we could probably with the greatest minds in the world put together a vaccine and then people can get informed about that. Everybody now has access to the Corona virus vaccination if they want it, Leo. And at that point, you know, I don't feel comfortable as a radio talk show host telling people as so many are urging me to tell people to get the vaccine. I am urging people to be very considerate of older people. People with co morbidity is pre existing conditions. Compromised immune systems. Grandma Grandpa Mom and dad, But my understanding was that everybody has the option. They're told. They told us that you could protect yourself and will be protected if you get the vaccine, But now we're told that you gotta wear the mask even after you get the vaccine, and you still need to socially distance south to me. I mean, on one level, it sounds like they don't even have confidence in the science that they're telling us is behind the push. To tell everybody what to do. I would urge everyone to do their own research, consult with their doctor or doctors or medical professionals They trust based on their individual medical condition. Make the right decision for them. I don't think Dr Hannity is in the position to be giving that advice. I agree with you shot 100% the lift layabout very clearly. First ball Potsie that Egypt for the Democratic Party has zero credibility, He flips flop back and forth. The Democrats see the mask as a form of power. We're talking about Joe Biden and jail where the mask outside the house. What about the stupid picture of Kamala Harris and her husband? Both fascinated and they're kissing each other with their mask on that's totally ridiculous and insulting intelligence of the American public, But when it comes down to the choice I'm giving the vaccine. It's an individual choice and lets me mention just one particular state. The perfect state in this country. Florida the perfect governor, governor defenses who has basically looked at the science. The state has been open for months. Unlike California, where I live that where a state of being subject to recall the governor It is a form that the Democrats are going to try to drain this out as long as they can to send miss messages to the public because they apparently pull well on the issue of the math, and they want control. The mass is a form of centralized government control and the Democrats have a problem. Letting that goal because science says we're good. If you're fascinated were good that where if we get hurt immunity, we're good if we social distance, But the Democrats want that mass to continue, and it's going to continue, Sean, probably to the end of this year, but respect thank goodness 2022 elections coming up. Be like asking Dr Leo to 20220.0. Doctor Leo, What do you think people should do with as it relates to the virus? Do you have an answer? What would your answer be? Buying should be very simple Individual twist. That's what makes this country great. I don't want some bureaucrat in Washington, someone from the CDC or Fauci telling what to do. I want to make an individual choice based on an informed decision, All right, I appreciate it. Thank you both for being with us. Look long time No hear. Good to hear from you, Leo to point out, Terrell. Thank you, 800. Nine for one, Sean, If you wanna be a part of the program, we'll get to your calls. Next half hour. "What's up. Everybody i wish. I love something as much as joel. Embiid loves playing against the celtics and this one wasn't fair. Boston left themselves shorthanded at center by trading daniel thais at the deadline and then combined with tristan thompson being injured lots a terrible combination with joel. Embiid come into town. They only had one guy who could guard him. And that was young time. Lord robert williams who did a decent job in the first quarter is a one point game after one but williams is known to be a little jumpy. He couldn't stay disciplined long enough. He picked up his third foul right at the end of the first then they had luc. Cornet come in to guard. Joel and beat boston wants to give luc cornet nickname. Let's slow the flow on giving nicknames to just everybody brad stevens left luc cornet out there. On an island with the mvp candidate some soft doubles. That wasn't enough. Went from a one point game to thirteen point game at half the celtics us break glass in case of emergency seven five taco fall and embiid way too late and be loves playing the celtics. Did i say that already. He had thirty five to seventy sixers. Swept the season series from the celtics for the first time in twenty years joel embiid and weighed more. Free throws than the celtics in the season series. Forty seven to forty

"That's gonna erase a lot of youthful mistakes. Because they're not going to get more experience they're going to get less experienced as this year goes on and more young guys are going to play more and more and more but i. I'm not disappointed. Not awad all they play hard. They're in games. And i think the play well enough to lose a lot of close games but in a very short time. We're talking about ottawa very differently. Excellent alright ask rain dregs anything. What's your week. Look like because we give up for episode eight of rain. Greg's actually drake's. I've got my second game of the year that i will be traveling to be in edmonton on thursday for the oilers in the lease which again i'm a little out of the out of the mode of book and travel so the game thursday. I booked my flight in there on the wrong day and book that out on the wrong day and are travel department had to say. Raise the game thursday. And i'm like. Oh yeah i guess. I don't need to be there friday night doing. Are you taking a suitcase. Or you're just gonna leave it on you know what since i'm in quarantine i'm gonna take a knapsack with my dress shirt and in gone so you can't forget anything. You're going to wear your suit jacket on the return flight back to that. No i have a yeah. I've got my suit jacket. You don't wear a really on your way to the airport. But i'm gonna have my overcoat. It's golden edmonton. I assume i thought it was. I thought it was a glenn. Healy special right. Like one of those suit jackets. Dark blue or black and you can folded up into about. Because you know you bought it at some secondhand stores or have you have you. You've seen heels as close as wrinkled. Proof wrinkle proof suits he he. It was really quite amazing to watch that man dress for an nhl season. We haven't had heels on the podcast tablet do we but we got to open. We got to open him up. Now we'd like the head of the alumni. He's a you know we need to open heels up a little bit here which usually isn't very hard. Well yeah it used to be blah blah blah blah and a half chardonnay. And you'd get your best deals. I think he's off that though. I think he's often thinking toned it down now. He's maybe the lighter something you know what this is so heels. You know boisterous likes to chat. Lots of not here we go. There's nothing like listening to glenn. Healy played bagpipes at two thirty in the morning. When you're trying to leave and says why don't you stay for one more cold beer and then you hear from the back room her. I don't know you know fight. Sound like when they're warming up. Hell you doing. he'll come on i. I like robbie burns. Ninety eight in in whitby ontario. Many years ago and heels invited me holly and i went and is pipe ban is tremendous like i happen to love the pipes i do. I like it bagpipes. They'd make me tear up because spanish. If you've never been me. Stay spanish bay. You know you're playing spanish bay tomorrow. You're gonna play pebble beach if you're lucky enough on all those things but what's unique about spanish bay is that a piper comes out every night rape before dusk and that's just a symbolize the end of the day just a beautiful thing with civic ocean in the background and all those so i've got a soft spot.

"Thinking you got me thinking you've got me thinking about meet. Its lunch. i everyone thought. The city would role in that game but you know living in southern ontario and and being so close to buffalo at a lot of canadians like the bills. We saw action on the bill so that actually work for us. We needed that. She used to win from a profit perspective and that and they didn't which was great. So i thought that chiefs we're gonna win. I'm really looking for do super bowl. I thought green bay was gonna win but you know coaching and an outstanding performance from the bucks something in the end i got to say i'm not an mba guy. So i don't really know if this comment is going to exclude somebody that i shouldn't. There's no more exciting athlete to watch than patrick. Mahomes right now i. I'm just amazed with what he can do. And whatever gasoline tyreek hill has in his tank. All my gosh. What he when he gets. It's like it's like the road runner and everybody's got lead in their shoes. It's amazing watch those guys play. Yes so then. Have you bet against patrick. Mahomes in the super bowl door. How how do you bet against tom. Brady and the super bowl. It's tough it's It's gonna be a lot of fun and yeah. I often think about it. you know clearly. patrick mahomes. Athletic ability is off the charts. And there's a whole lot of really talented offensive weapons there in kansas city but the play calling the play design is unbelievable as well like they use some things that you don't see any other team do and they executed to perfection most of the time so i'm not one to give too much credit to coaching staff. A lot of the time especially in the game when there's eleven guys on each side of the field but when you really look at it. There's there's some some really impressive work being done. By andy reid and the staff and okay so that so that gives me one thought so matt lafleur who is a young guy. Who's you know really got had a really good year and it comes down to one moment that maybe a lot of people don't like very much. There was a time andy. Reid was soundly criticised in philadelphia. He can never win. He can't win. He doesn't know how to coach in the big moment. Now andy reed's genius and it's amazing. You need time to make the full picture. And so i look at that and i i think flir screwed up. I think he would want to redo that again. Certainly when it turned out the way it did but maybe five years. We're not talking about matt lafleur the same way we are this morning. It's so interesting because we always talk about teams and players that need to lose. I figure it out. And i guess you put coaches in the same vein. Very few players coaches teams. Come in any situation and dominate right away. So it's a curious quirk about the sporting world and something to keep in mind. When you're betting it really is you know the the guys who have the experience at the end of the day and they've shown it usually comes to the forefront. Aren't chris will will let you go on that. And as we teased. I mean we look for adapted so a and will bite down on the bucks in jeeps and all of the permian look look like from kubat dot. Ceo's perspective so thanks for joining us here in episode seven and we always have a good time and we'll have a good time the next time we saw. Thanks so much guys darren. That's why you're a professional bike down after the food segment unbelievable Go get your rap break..

"Their best players were elias. Patterson and quinn hughes have had really rough starts to the season pederson worse than hughes Their goaltending is adequate. Really miss jacob marks room. He bailed out a lot of that mess their their defenses spin and when they get a couple of injuries or an injury a nick up then then they're in trouble and without their top guys playing very well the really thin upfront now. Pederson has just shifted agents over to see a and i'm just from my own experience. I hated my contract year. I hated the uncertainty of it. I hated the you know. Each gold feels more important. Because that's gonna put me in a different class. And then if he's dealing with changing agents at the same time you gotta understand. It's not just calling a guy up and say yeah we're done and you have a personal relationship it's hard. It's really hard to do it. So a lot of things. Probably bubble up there but at the end of the day pederson is not playing very well and if he doesn't play very well vancouver screwed the one thing to keep an eye on here as it starting to get as you call at restless than that water. The see is angry my friend. It's an old seinfeld. Is jim benning. Might be in top spot. I don't know how we going to improve the team like a lot of teams that just don't have any cap space in the reason that they're in a difficulty spot cap space. Wise is the free agency deals. They've signed that he has signed have put them in this spot Louis legislature wrote it down here. So i wouldn't forget there's loui eriksson. Jay beagle antoine roussel. And even tyler myers. Those are all big money contracts. And you're not getting a lot back. Like myers is best edible. Seventeen minutes a game. You're asking them to play twenty four. It's too much for and so they're they're in a tough spot. Got a coach in the last year of his contract. You've got your two star players in the last year of their contract and they're young they're twenty two years old so it's a it's a dangerous time because if you fall too far back here it's going to be tough to make it up washington. Well we're spending a lot of time paying close attention what's going on in the north division and we're going to have to refocus here a little bit. I'm challenged by it to be fair because of everything going on with the seven canadian teams. I'm slipping when i look around the league. Oh yeah there are twenty four other teams. I've forgotten what all you know what. I watched chicago and detroit yesterday in the morning here. It's nine thirty in the morning. I flicked it on. Wait for the football. And i'm like look at that the couple of other teams like i'm with you man. It's like and so i think that's one of the reasons why this division can't stay right that you you lose the global. Look the people in the states will never see connor mcdavid. Yeah but you know. They won't see austin matthews and so that's probably in my mind anyway one of the reasons that it can't work but a long-term but while i think it's a seventeen league right now yeah. It feels outweigh.

"Where can you find your next customer after that. And then once you get into a groove in. It's like holy smokes. We took a guest that linked in would be a good traction channel. And it's working. Then you can figure out about doubling down and defining a clear strategy but yeah i. I think it's a daunting thing when you think about marketing but when it's i need to find my next customer in the early stages at seems more palatable for me that's great advice and i think it's good particularly good advice for entrepreneurs who are intimidated by marketing. Because it's usually something they don't know most entrepreneurs have particular domain expertise or they've got their their engineers and you are world so I can see how that might be something. That's a little more digestible in a little more. Approachable final question for you. And i think it's a it's a bit of a loaded question and i'm surprised you in some respects What's the biggest mistake made by market or something that you find hard to believe these days i would say that the thing i find hardest to believe this is with marketers and i think it also applies to almost every single other department inside of a business perhaps except for sales and it's that some marketers believe that they don't need to be directly talking to customers all the time and i think that's wrong i feel that the closer a marketer is with the customer actually the more value they can add and it may be. Some people would argue against this but like in twenty twenty. I would much rather be a marketer than a salesperson like with the way the world's shifting with cova did all these crazy things. I think there's so much opportunity for marketing. I think a lot of sales people will shift their role to become marketers. Or they'll at least start thinking more as marketers than just here. I'm going to call the next phone number on this list and try to sell something. So i think that in light of the opportunity in the broad world of marketing in this digital era i think these marketers need to get close in front and center with customers because if they can carry the voice of the customer. It's going to help with everything like content like website copy lake. You know what what is that. What does that thumbnail gonna look like. How are you going to write your headline. How are you gonna write that. Google ad i think it all spills out from just taking the easy approach which is just figuring out what the customers are saying. Figure what they're wanting and do it end too. Many marketers think play the telephone game expecting sales to relate this info. They should do it themselves. That's great advice. Luke so people are looking to connect with you or to consumer content. Where did they find you will. Apparently i'm hanging out with lot with mark evans. So you can't with mark. "Of entrepreneurship and anything. That's the beauty of it and that's why we need to kind of get rid of these stigmas. I personally think that one of the biggest myths is that you need to know something so of course you know something but the idea that you need to be the master of a particular domain in order to go into a business. Start a start up. I think it definitely helps to have domain. Knowledge definitely helps to know the customers that you want to sell to before you even start selling to them but i think there is also a disadvantage if you think that you know too much if you think that you already know the problem that you're solving if you think that you already know who your ideal customer profile is what keeps them up at night. If you think you already know everything that has to do with your business your product and your customer. I think it kind of puts you at a disadvantage and i've worked with a lot of really smart technical co-founders so of course i'm in that direction. Which is good to just be self aware but when you have people whether they're technology people are businesspeople that think that they know too much you lose sight of experimentation. Which is what i think. Entrepreneurship is really all about. But i would also argue that creativity and the ability to do things out of the box are also important recently. I read an article about ben and jerry who as we all know created this amazing iconic ice cream brand and the story was really about their thirty year relationship and how they remained good friends even to this day. But when you think about ben and jerry. They didn't know ice cream inside out. I mean all they knew was they like the idea of selling ice cream and they like the idea of doing it in a place like vermont so it was more above a field kind of feel good kind of enterprise for them but where they ice cream experts going in absolutely not so. I think you make a good point about the fact that maybe some of the most successful entrepreneurs are people who are simply passionate about idea or realized that they've got to do something because something's gotta be done. Yeah that's the magic of entrepreneurship sometimes. Yeah and if. I can play off the word creativity that you used mark. I think that case is you do know something from somewhere in your life but you apply it in a unique way. So that's what i love to see is when you have a person that does something in their career whether it's a job stirred up and they quit that thing and they feel like they don't have anything they feel like. They didn't take anything away because their career path is in linear anymore. Well guess what entrepreneurship. Definitely isn't linear so. I think it's beautiful. When you do something really random in life that might not be related to something you do next but you can apply the skills the knowledge unique vantage point from what you did. And the pledge what you do next and i think that's where a lot of entrepreneurial disruption actually originates from so let's shift gears a little bit so you decided to become an entrepreneur and you've got a target market that you're focused on and you've got a new customer who you think would be amazing to serve..

This year is a lot of people unfortunately have lost their jobs and are exploring the idea of doing their own thing of being the master or mistress of their own domain. But there's a lot of myths around entrepreneurship from the outside looking in. It appears to be a very sexy. Very glamorous very exciting activity but maybe you can provide some insight into what. It's really like to be an entrepreneur. And what it takes to to enjoy that that lifestyle. Yeah that's That's a juicy one right there. Gross delivery bookings totaled almost seven billion dollars a jump of well over one hundred percent from q one. Before we all started eating in as a privately held company door dashes keeping a lot of data to itself but the number of people using dash doubled from ten million last year to twenty million now according to research firm Emarketer. "Based on size might draft for need based on speed based on. Maybe the guy's a power play quarterback. Maybe he's a power forward If you think the players are that close, then you could kind of finesse it a little, but the players would have to literally be fifty, one, forty, nine, fifty, fifty, like like that post to deviate from. We'll have to imagine that. Whoever's available at number? Two in the draft will be the best player available should be a real good one to help us celebrate right now. Mark joining us is President of the La Kings Luc Robitaille. Luke congratulations number two. It's not bad. What's up, guys how? Excellent? How are you doing I'm doing good. So. But he got. Now. Look when the when the number five card turned over, and we all realized it wasn't the Kings, and then we knew in that moment that the kings had jumped into the top three. How excited where you that kings will be moving up in the lottery and not down well, Blakey confused me at the beginning and beyond, so he said to me. Blakey says I think they're only going to show the top three teams and told Blakey I said I don't think so I think they're going to go from down. So then like he was pretty convincing. Something like okay. They might just Sean at three, so we're trying to figure it out. How if if it's three? It's another team. All was going to be like so we kinda had it down, but when they started going from seven six, and then when he got to five, and we looked at each other and say. I don't think we could be four. And then we Catherine Tappin says the kings atop three. We were like yes. But you know we're. We're hockey people. So the minute you go through like man. We've got to be number one. We gotTA BE NOT ON. That's how you start thinking. Well, it gathers no cheering in the press box. That's one of the more respected rules, but there could have been cheering I. Suppose on the draft certainly cheering in my room, you guys seemed awfully calm and cool and collected in there. But imagine now we've got a few months to celebrate the number two overall pick. Yeah, we're trying. It's one of those you're trying to be I. Guess you trying to be cool? We're pretty excited like we like. We trust mark and his staff. The they've always gone above and beyond on on figuring out. WHO's the best character who the best player I mean? You look at what was done early on from two thousand. What was it? Might Margie start with us? In two thousand, six, two, thousand seven. Two thousand, and you look at the character. We brought into disorganization players that he meant something to play for the game. Then you look at now, and even what what people are talking about our organization and a pipeline that we have so we know now this gives us an opportunity to get one more player that will will come into our organization. They will mean something to be with the kings and. And knowing these guys what they're going to do and one when it finally gets to the final decision because. They got a long time, so that means marks going to work. Really hard I know mark. There's not. You know something you could talk about. There's no stone on. Trust me. They won't be anything on turning the entire planet to know. Which is the best guy and so we're going to get a player. That's going to really help our franchisees and I think the Kings Fan should be really happy about that. There's been a lot of news coming out about you know what the next season will look like. Maybe even the season after that. Maybe even this season after that I've been saying for months now. The kings have actually wound up I think benefiting tremendously from the shifting landscape of the League some of the rules, some of the financial decisions, because the the the reimagining processes coming at the time that it is, it benefits them. It feels like this could even be one more huge leap forward in the king's development, because they already have this tremendous steps in prospect system, and now to get the second overall pick. At, a time when you have. The opportunity to plan to make sure everything all your ducks in a row and everything. How important is it for the franchise to get not only the number two spot, but also those ten other picks potentially in the other success draft. I think. is important to us because the kit where we're at and we know the players come in as a lot of places with a lot of character. Come in. They're willing to do whatever it takes. To make it to the NHL to help us win. to to have the opportunity to add to that and get some kids are Gonna come in, and they're gonNA. They'RE GONNA be willing to pay the price to help us win games, and and there's a fine line you know about making the NHL and then wanting to help make a difference for the franchise. And that's what we're always looking at and you know. You know we're looking into at the end of year like Raba does you know they have different scouting meetings and NAB developments a meeting? And then we're going over all the kids that were playing for us in Ontario last year, and some of the kids are been working out with some of our guys, and and is kind of fun to hear that that You know when you hear that thing was. This guy we don't need to look at him. We don't have to worry about him because he's going to do whatever he's asked and more. And we're very fortunate that we have more than we ever thought. We even had an organization and what that tells me is. You're going to get guys they're. They're willing to pay a price to help you win. And we're pretty fortunate..

"Jabs. Nobody say nothing at fire. There's a hockey expert from Minnesota over and the below average comedian from Chicago. Dylan's strums us. They met in college now. They have a podcast with the LA kings that makes sense right trading jabs all right Ryan. How're you I was watching? The king's Rangers Stanley Cup game today I'm just kind of feeling the time with with an I. Also watch the two thousand ten Blackhawks Game Three Western Conference finals. Obviously I'm sure you watch. That is well I'm doing. I'm on on the hunts to find my brain which has been lost. Aren't we all man for this episode trading jobs we're going to go over some teams jerseys colors identities that we don't like You know frankly. We're just trying to Filton time here and I think this is a solid Goto just because you have a lot of opinions on this. I'm very picky with what I like. But I'll leave it to you. Start with this one on some things that you want to change about some teams colors logos etc. Got It okay so my third of three the one that I care about not as much. I think the Kings need a change. Their colors I think black white black white and grey is for living rooms and for college dorms. I think you need to bring the purple back. Bring like the little just something else black white and grays so boring I know. That's part of the rebuild or the rebrand and Just a little splash. Color would be great for them. And I don't know maybe I'm crazy but I think things change the colors I see. I'm I'm kind of inbetween on this one. I think the Kings logo is extremely unique Given the shield in a sense with the king but at the same time The black and gray is kind of where I always follow. You can do it the right way and I think they have. I think it's just maybe time for a little bit of a shake-up in terms of give us a little pizzazz or something along those lines. Yeah so that's my number three. What's your number three number three and I think this is one that You'll come to know Ryan. I know you know this is well Jesse When you hear this you'll probably agree. I'm not a big fan of saint was losing any facet so I would just love for them to change everything you know. The yellow is great. The logo to me is so boring and I understand. It's the note it's the blues Just do something better. I it's boring New Jersey's or flat I I'm just anti blues so we're GONNA start there. Yeah I mean when you think about Blues Music Everyone thinks about Saint Louis Missouri. Yes that's exactly it. I mean I've always had a a little piece of me in Saint Louis Blues but It's just brutal I. I can't stand their logo. I can't stand their team. I can't stand their jerseys. Everything is just death their style of play. I know you hate that. Yeah okay that's fine. My number to the outpost senators mascot gotta go gotTa know it's bad it's a It's like this ratty lion that has like really flat it weird Heyer in. It's it's just freshmen. That thing up or get rid of it. It's gotta go. Have you ever seen it? I mean not off the top of my head. It's like a it's like a lion that was hanging out in a trailer park for like six years and has got like teeth. Better like all over. The place is gotta go. Yeah I mean it. It matches and style playwright for or maybe they should keep it until they get better your job during your picture. Oh my goodness okay. Yeah loud so that is an addict in a uniform That's the estranged uncle lion that was gone for a couple of years and just came back and showed up at Easter now. Starting to ask the kids for the money in there is a place to stay. Yeah it's not that you got a freshman up old sends you gotTa do. What's your number two My number two and this is an interesting one for me because it goes to the Pittsburgh. Penguins their jerseys to me are very nineteen ninety s and nothing against that but I am obsessed with their light Blue Winter Classic Jerseys and I just wish that they would wear them for their home uniforms every game. I'd say that about a lot of teams. But the they're they're all yellows I actually don't mind Their Blues are definitely their Best Jersey. But I think a lot of teams. I'm like Just wear that. Just where the alternate every time. You guys like awful like The the pain was. I'm not as mad about but I don't know how do you feel about their gold versus their yellow will the yellow like right now because they just changed them up when they moved to when everyone moves to adidas from Reebok and the when they moved to it. I just don't like the logo. They changed it a little bit. Made it much more old-fashioned and the yellows became much. More LID legitimately mustard. Like GRITS IS A. I'm more of a catch guy so I just doesn't. It doesn't buy with me but at the same time. It's kind of a weird situation because all Pittsburgh's teams are black and gold. You've got the steelers the pirates and the penguins. So it's unfortunately it's probably controversial if they were to just move to the blues. But I think there's so so good looking that you need to wear them and they just. They've moved on unfortunately walk. Leads right into my number one son? Just GONNA take it. Go Carolina Hurricanes. Jerseys GOTTA GO. GotTa go those. White Jerseys at say Cain and it's okay. They've never changed their jersey. I mean they have but it's always just like this white with a red shoulder pads and the red stripes you guys gotta figure it out. I mean they're black. Alternates are by far their best. Jerseys I like what the Red Line. But Oh my God Jadwin unit. Yeah I didn't even think of that when I was kind of going through the teams and looking at all the things that I a anti and I just now that you bring it up you realize that red black and white is probably the easiest color Combo to make look cool in sports. This week doesn't help vibrant. It is and the canes have done everything possible to say. Don't Buy Jerseys. I mean look the Falcons do it and I think their jerseys are great did you. Okay wait on that topic. Did you just see They came out with the New Jersey's I did and people were mad and I don't understand why okay but for anyone who hasn't seen it or is a football fan and hasn't noticed what the Carolina Panthers did to. The Atlanta Falcons is hilarious. So the Falcons came out with a video of their release of their new uniforms and the panthers absolutely roasted them on twitter by posting their own video of them seeing the video. The video that the The the Falcons came out with and then random door opened it in it looked exactly like the jerseys from the longest yard with Adam Sandler on. No it's amazing. They completely roasted them. They won the Internet. The Internet obviously stays undefeated at all times Kudos panthers but yeah on the topic of the canes just they've done nothing to say these cool jerseys at all now and I don't. Yeah I mean at least they hyped it up with you know like they're trying to get their fans involved at the whole like they do dances after they win and stuff but oh my God. I don't. I wouldn't want to wear that White Sebastian Otto frigging thing says canes in block letters Yeah just call someone to two-parter if the raising cane's isn't a lead sponsor of Carolina Hurricanes. I don't know what they're advertising is doing in the stadium. They should just be like the chicken fingers stadium. Yeah welcome to chicken finger arena. Everyone leaves okay see now. Mcdonald's does the mcflurry minute with the Kings. Oh yeah they should easily do like the chicken tender minute. Something for the little gains okay but on top of that so no number you read. Black and white is probably the coolest color Combo in my opinion. At least to make look neater in terms of advertising. No worst teller. Combo is blue and orange the New York islanders. It's disgusting. I can't stand blue and orange together I don't they don't Especially when you've got like his royal blue and then this flat orange from the Islanders. It's never been it's Never Bengo looking. Well how do you feel about the bears? Jerseys see the bears are okay. Because it's like a dark navy blue. That's what I think but yeah I was thinking about the islanders. Kinda like I don't know it's like a Crayola said it's just brutal exactly. It's like it's like when you're in like third grade and you get like twelve packing colors so you're stuck with like low the original Lou in the flat words and then all your satellite the ninety two package crayons. And you're just like all right. I guess we're stuck with this. I kid you not. My dog's favorite balls are the same colors because they're probably the most distracting in like strange colors that you just goes nuts over them so there's something with them. I'm not a fan. They're like I think it's fine. I think they're trying to match the mets Though yeah because the mets you've done such a great job and go. Oh Man. I wish we could look as good as the mess. Yeah also everyone's the knicks the Knicks. Oh Mike what What a model franchise I think next time or sometime in the future. We should talk about our favorite colors Honestly I really like Minnesota's colors. I think they're pretty. They're pretty cool. And we could say the conversation for later but probably the nicest thing I'll say about you in the Minnesota Wild I appreciate it But let's not act like we've ever done anything to you. We've never beaten you in the playoffs and okay. You're Chicago. Blackhawks have gotten lucky a few times to salarly describe it. Yep Yeah I mean. That's it's notoriously known the blackhawks every time they win All right we'll anything else will now on note fine by me. I'm excited to talk about jerseys. I like But yeah I mean someone someone at the Ottawa Organization. Like please call me. I have so many ideas for you and Let me know if you hear this. Yes but now. That's all for. The senators are tuning into the trading jabs segments of all the king's men All the way across the country in this Corinthian time but all right. Well that's going to be up for trading jabs eventually will get the podcast up and running once this quarantine on pandemic slows down. I hope everyone stay safe. And Jesse back to you saw. Thanks Jack that was Jabotinsky and Ryan Gold Scher for Lou. Groza tied Jack and Ryan. I want to thank you guys for listening. We'll talk to you soon..

And then you go off go to Detroit you get your cup you come back you get your cup you get another perfectly. I just can't imagine what it's like to go through such an emotional roller coaster and being back in L. A. We'll see another question from the Chat Lou. Someone wants to know who you see being the most improved from the start of this season to the point that finished in early March While obviously we all love the way Blake Lozad played. You know he really improve and he got better as the year went. I mean it's hard to do. I don't think people realize he was playing college last year. Only I think forty two games and he found a way to keep improving as the season went. I I was happy with. Adrian can't be too easy. He got better after Christmas as a player and he seemed to find a niche. That were there any was really a difference. Maple those guys like that they show now. I mean obviously all the kids like married Roy. They all they all got better year went. So I think it bodes well for the future. We know. You'VE GOTTA GO LUKE. We WanNA thank you for joining us but before we do one final question from stats man. Wants to know Tom. Glavin was drafted ahead of you. In your drafty or have you ever by the La Kings. And we brought it dodger stamina. I got to take a picture with him in the cup. That's how I met him. That's great one more question. One more one. Yeah Yeah it's sort of a two part because there's two questions from two different fans but the one that was aside from the form what was your favorite arena to play in. That isn't around anymore. And then the follow up is what's your favorite. Nhl City to travel to My alternate favourite arena. Was the old Chicago Stadium. It was so special. Well it's the first thing that's the good thing about it. Is you get out of bed. We had like a little virtual party so it was fun. We had a good time. And we know. Obviously that she's been very involved on social media wishing everybody You know wellness and safety and happiness. So we appreciate that loop. What did you think of this digital presentation today? I think it's great. You know where we get the during the game. Are Staffers really working real hard on doing like a all? The all the things like the game was going so it was fun. We were getting their drop. How many people were in the building so as the game was coming as against started and as I went on and our whole staff was interacting. I it's a lot of fun you know. I'm glad we want. It was a big game. You always want to win the last game of the year. That's right and I think I think that's not on rented. I think somebody said you know the team that wins. The last game of the season wins the cup every year right and so of course technically the La Kings one the last game of the season. So I mean you know and we're going to try and get some of you guys from the chat into this golf for starters. Luca Andrew wants to know what advice you would give anyone looking to break into the front office of the industry. Oh two two. Br I mean first of all like for us to go take a look at ag worldwide dot Com. There's always a job posting If you don't know what you're what you would like to do Obviously if you WANNA get into sales we hire a lot more sales people than any other position but over time. A lot of our salespeople have graduated to other jobs and they've been with us for ten fifty years plus and Dave I know that we've talked about it before on a previous episode of the podcast as your dog joins you behind you there but but I know you started early just by asking if you could do some play by play announcing correct. Yeah this Gretzky by the way for those. You guys haven't met him. Hey Gretzky's grants what's up Gretz So we got Gretzky Andro Bataille which is Kinda cool. That's right Yeah so I I got into it by. Obviously I had a radio background before I got into it. But David Courtney The longtime announcer before me kind of brought me on his understudy to to train from him. And that's how I got into the business and doing kings games at Staples Center was through David Courtney. So you can learn from somebody else you can certainly get under someone's wing and kind of learn that way too There are a bunch of different ways. Get into the industry but at any any little in is good. That's right another question from the Chat Luke for you. A Big. Hello from another french-canadian. Canadian big Fan and all that wants to know. Do You keep a foot in Quebec. Maybe watching the NHL or family. Have you lost your friends or keep practicing at home? I don't really practice at home but I have a few friends that speak French. Obviously my family. When I talked to them we speak French and This year specifically we're watching a lot of Quebec junior major league that kid leifer years not a bad player. Now I you know. We'll we'll follow some games there. We we we watch a lot of kids coming out of that league. You know something like our scouts will put a video package and survive like to take a look at as long as we're talking. Imagine your hockey. We've had some fans in previous nights Luke's and now that you're here. We'll give you a chance to answer it. We obviously everybody knows about Arthur. Kaliev and the assault he put on the Hamilton bulldogs record book. Are there any players that you particularly enjoy watching in the king's pipeline any players? I enjoy watching. I pretty much enjoy watching them all right now. They're a lot of kids. Have a lot of character. I love the fact that Rob Blake was really focused. Art Scouts and the whole group was focused on character. And whether we were watching Turcott this year then when you you know or you're watching Duda Sora Keel Thomas scoring two goals for Canada or FAG. Him All Or Bjorn for playing this year. It's a lot of fun to watch these kids. Obviously watching Arthur Kelly. It's it's it's special. We haven't had a pure goal scorer like that in a long time so he finds way to score goals that That you know sometimes you. You wonder how did that go into what happened there? But it's just that's what a goal score is and he has a knack in that. You can't really teacher. He's a very special player. I dare to say we haven't had a pure goal score like that since number. Twenty in your line right. That's right Kingston's go ahead. Get those questions in the chat for Luc Robitaille or Dave Joseph Luke. We also asked Jim Fox Darrell Evans David I've weighed in on it. Are there any players in the pipeline around the team right now that you could see potentially wearing a letter in the league someday? Well Yeah I mean you know killed. Thomas was a captain. His team aided dude. This was a captain. Mike Anderson was captain of team. Usa Velocities a leader Turcotte's a leader Jared Anderson Dolan's leader. So there's a lot of got bjorn for it's been a captain with pretty much every has ever played for so allow these guys that you know. It's kind of funny when you're player the first your to your you WanNa come in and and and establish yourself in the league and then the second thing is you're playing you know you WANNA make sure you're playing for your security your contract and then it becomes a time where your plan to to win. I think we're going to be a little bit ahead because of the character. These kids that way. So you know I I I foresee WANNA see. Some of those kids weren't letters. We gotTA chant early in the first period. Wondering what your favorite memory from your playing career was luke. My my first game my first game. I mean it was just A. I'll never forget you know looking at the Rafter Adeel Forum and it was all these bars like holding his. I think just scoreboard news. Just so special and thinking okay. I I made it like I remember. It was a morning. Skate didn't step for their player. Introduction it was absolutely incredible. Did you get any memories when gas velocity scored on his first shift is I shot back to your first game in repeating the same act. Yeah I text master. I said just so. You know there's the last Guy Remember Scoring Dr Ward under twenty. I was thinking I wonder. I know it wasn't as early as empty. I remember seeing on the bench and asking Marcellin. Do you think we're up music. We're up and when I and I think we went on around the sixteen minute mark or something sixty twenty five or something like that but I was trying to think if my goal was quicker by the time I stepped on the ice because I literally went to the front of net Marcel Through it I tipped it in went in so I I'd like to see I don't know how but they keep time that windows day interesting. I wish they had the four-game just we could really see from the. I literally jump on the bench. I went to the front of the net and Marcel. Through a nifty. Let's find out what's driving. We're talking about that deal today. Another question from the chat. I think it's from blink sign king bring signs Elliott fans have. I've got that name wrong. Wants to know how your family's holding up luke also wishing happy birthday. Thank you thank you. We're we're doing good Station been really taking really good care of me. Hit like a four. We've had a calendar. I wouldn't do it this week. So we're going out to do it again next week so it kind of keeps you on track a little bit. We've we've had Surprising a lot of work with the Kings. We've got meetings every day but We're doing good. Our boys are not with us. They're staying their place so they they come in with us. Everyone saw once in a while. We'll have dinner together. We stay six feet apart and And and we'll talk a little bit but it's an and she's in Nevada. She's listening to Michigan was an outside. They are outside but we're doing good. She's she's taking really good care. Look I've got a quick question for you. What is your. What's your favorite Kings Jersey of all the king's jerseys you've worn and have seen in the past. What is your favorite D- Does actually to. I mean we call it a Gretzky era. That Jersey was just for me. It was great. And then the one we turn out I think it was a two thousand ten two thousand nine or ten when it became our Third Jersey. Nestle we were today and the reason I like it this we ask the players that they if they liked him. I remember asking Browning drew and they all love that Jersey. They ended up wearing a wing the cup with it but the the grits Kierra Jersey. What was really cool with me. And I'm not sure a lot of people know that but when I was playing Juniors Major in Quebec in I actually the time that whole Olympics and Gretzky changed the colors of our Jersey into black and silver. It would look exactly Lecter Jersey reward a next year when he came to L. A. And so for me. It was always like A. It's almost like I knew when when it was going to happen when when when Gretzky came that we're going to get that Jersey because that's the one a year and a half earlier add worn in for his team and curiosity look. I don't know if you can see over my shoulder here but I've got two of those jerseys right but one has the black letters and numbers. One has the silver letters and numbers. Did you have a preference as far as What color the numbers and letters were now. We didn't really pay attention to that later when I would watch on TV. And I realized that I think when it was silver was hard for me to read the names but we didn't really pay attention. I couldn't even tell you what year was silver which was black. We've got another question from the chat Says you should travel all over wondering from handed. Davy who sang the national anthem did a great job as always want. She wants to know what travel? Destination is your favorite We've always like to go to Italy. It's just a great place The last few years Wednesday share and I've gone and did our walk in Spain. I really enjoyed it. I got to learn a lot about Spain so that that was pretty cool but I would say those two places have been my favorite Colorado. Who DOESN'T UNLESS MAYBE DETROIT FANS don't but we've got Morgan joining us now. L. A. Kings Fan calling into talk to president. Luc Robitaille Morgan. Are there so I have been in Luke What does it feel like to still be connected to the Kings? I personally watching in nineteen ninety two so I got to see that wonderful season..

An Introduction to Star Trek: Picard

"We're GonNa talk about everything we know about the card series to date and talk a little bit about Picard the character and provide even a little primer as far as if you want to go back in and reacquaint yourself with the character we can give view a few episodes to pick from and of course if you have? CBS All access. You have access to the full star Trek Universe at least as far as the small screen green is concerned. And I'm really loving the chance to get back in here and revisit some of this show that I haven't watched it's probably been ten years since my last. Tng Oh gee rewatch so. It's nice to have it fresh in my mind. Yeah so just to clarify busy. I mean this will be the first of a few prepaid card a podcast. We're doing I would say people looking for speculation as to you know who are these new characters were seeing. What do the trailer show? I think it's safe to say we'll probably touch upon it but I think it'd be better. It'd be covered in its own separate pot castle in a couple of weeks. This is more so podcast for like. Hey Do you know who John Luc Picard is. Do you remember win. Romulus was destroyed. Who the hell seven of nine this is? Sort of like a cannon catch up to get people either reacquainted or caught up for the first time with what exactly these characters are bringing that we know of before we move forward with characters old and new I guess to start I mean before we even get into anything with with what we know of Joel mccower and the characters around him he jesse talked about manifesting. This so what are your thoughts when you initially found out because there are obviously rumblings blinks about it Patrick Stewart announced. I think in Vegas a couple years ago that it was a thing. We got trailers over the course of twenty nineteen. So what did you think about this actually becoming a reality Eh. Well this is like every fan's dream I think there's nobody out there that puts picard at the bottom of their captain rankings. Out He is. The most is the most fun I think the most layered of the captains the I think he's definitely the captain where there's the most territory left to explore. And and I think the place we left him was so tantalizing like whichever playing you WANNA say. We really left him on whether it's the future. Richard Echoes that we saw in the final episode of Star Trek Next Generation. Or whether it's where we left off in the last movie back in two thousand and two and and Mike I know you were in kindergarten or something so you may not be that I. I was in seventh grade. Thank you very much definitely not in the mood to sit down for two hour long star Trek movies at that point but you know uh not not a not a little bit of a baby in the bork incubator. A little bit more of an adolescent. That's an all right. All right fair enough. You knew the Star Trek existed in was a thing exactly. Yeah and I would say that at that point. That was also so what that was when we were nearing the end. I think we're already a couple years removed from the D. S. nine voyager double feature creature feature so ah it definitely was like star. Trek was in the atmosphere but considering that I was born during season three of next generation I can't say that Picard. Even from Star Trek Perspective was top of mind for my twelve year old brain. It's true and I think twelve is probably also the wrong age to start formulating your final star trek opinions. Even if you do grow up with it. Yeah that's very true unless maybe if you place my memory in a satellite that allows it to live out for the next thirty five years really formulate my thoughts on him. Yeah Yeah Well I love I love it. We when they play fast and loose with the human consciousness as we'll talk about when we start breaking down some of our favorite card episodes I think that will it became apparent. Yeah I mean this. I can't believe we're talking about. There's like this is crazy because not only is this a star Trek nerds dream come true but it also at least from what I had heard for a while Patrick Stewart got to the point. Where like he was didn't even want to acknowledge Picard? Like there was a rumor. I I think in Hollywood that like. Hey if you're working with Patrick Stewart on a project don't mention John Luc Picard of the next generation. Because he won't be happy with it. I think for a while he felt like actually actually bit contrary to your point. He felt like his character's journey had come to an end. He felt that book was closed. But I guess he's been giving interviews obviously in the past year and he said that getting to experience how much the next generation specifically meant to a hole for lack of a better term generation of people. I think touch them in a way that made him genuinely want to revisit the character which makes me happy and from what I've seen in terms of all the preseason press he's been doing he seems to just be having the time of his life life which makes me very happy. It's not necessarily dragging Harrison Ford onto the set of the force awakens. And you know making him go through the motions again. This is someone who is genuinely invested. Did in going back to the character are living in an era of peak nostalgia. I feel like everything is a reboot of everything nowadays Yeah I think. I think you're right about Patrick. Stewart kind of wanting to distance himself from card for a very long time and I think even at the point when he began playing card. I think I think the character played by Alan Rickman and Galaxy Quest. We all agree. That is kind of making fun of Patrick Stewart to some. Yeah even though he's supposed to be I think the science it's officers. so He's more of like the spock or type. I think the fact that this is this like like you said this. This master Thespian. WHO's been beleaguered to have to give off all of these over the top lines and also SCIENC- terms that don't make a lot of sense and repetition? That's just been what we all imagined. Jamais Patrick Stewart was thinking through. So yeah I mean it's very clear. What sort of his perspective isn't that also reflected in the character as well? We'll get a bit into it but obviously popcorn a huge departure from a captain like Kirk who had experience from the original series. And I think that's very very much due not just the different natures of William Shatner and Patrick Stewart in terms of the way they just sort of compose themselves. I think it's also it's a difference between tween how seriously the show took itself because I think star trek the original series probably didn't necessarily take itself super seriously as it was being formulated plated. It's very imaginative. Show to be sure but I think there's there's always like a little bit of self awareness and then I remember I was very young when Star Trek the next generation premiered and I remember being struck by you know little eight year old me watching this show thinking this takes itself much more seriously and it's kind of. It's a double edged sword because I think next generation was able to explore some themes that original series series star Trek attempted to certainly was groundbreaking for its time. But there's a lot more gravitas especially the early season episodes episodes where they're really trying to feel out exactly how serious they could be in the swing in the wrong direction a few times and I think you get you get this starship led by this very serious captain at times like I think picard strikes me as someone who's he's much more even tempered and he takes his position position like he's having a lot less fun in the very beginning at least yeah. It's sort of like this is a very loose sketch. But he served the bird to Kirk Ernie right where he definitely seems to be a bit more like fun free shirl ago sleep with some Orion women and look we'll definitely get into some adventures that picard had both romantically frantically and otherwise. But I totally agree with you. He walked in like vary by the books. He's very good. There's a reason why he has a maneuver named dafter him when he had with the previous starship that he had worked for but he seems someone who like you said was a very sobering presence and I think that really you not only set the tone for the ship but also for the show
