"I listen is already no. I don't respect them. This is the contempt base. Podcast first of all i. i must bring up. It's very unusual to be nominated with so many of your own cast number. Tv show let alone in your category. You're nominated with three other. People is their fun sense of competition there because i would be vicious than sending them like joker style ransom notes. Oh listen on. The one hand is beautiful. We're all nominate together because it feels very tedlar that we're nominated as a team. It feels like that is the right way. And if i'm honest i wouldn't have felt comfortable if one of us have been nominate without the other so it's nice that but on the other hand i if i put this to them yet but this is what i plan to do. Plan to rescue on any. Whoever wins can go up to the but then i realized we might you know none of us might win but either way whoever wins in the wrestle iran. I know all about the nine thousand eighty five best supporting actress oscar where the two girls from the color purple lost to majolica houston. I'm just saying it could happen to you. Anjelica huston good ted up. Take speaking of your nominations and ted. Sir i'm willing to go there. Don't worry we could go there. I still obsessed with her. Feud with oprah. I didn't they had a few yes. Let's angelica one. Yes ran into oprah at a party. And i forget who in houston was having a conversation with But oprah just like turns her back to anjelica during this conversation and completely cut out of the condo. And i guess they haven't talked sets and she's never been on her show. This is like anjelica huston. Does like very candid interviews like every six months where she brings us up anyway. We enjoy it but we never seen the addams family. A love story delicate houston movie. Anyway we can move on with this conversation. I'm sorry i am sat. She's never seen the witches. come on. Yeah the witches and addams family values. Hey great but your show. You are not only acting in it but he wrote on it as well and i'd love to know the process of writing on the show you know finding people to cast in the show but then you finding a way to make sure you're the only person who's right for that role when i did is. I ran interference the office. So anytime gusty tanks came in for roy guy we Who i hear people. This just seems to be saying it. You know how. I got the button this story. You must do our job as working on in the rise where i was writing on. I felt very very strongly but halfway through the process as like fucking now. I really understand roy. I really think i should play roy. I feel like i've never felt it before. Seis strongly with a character where it was like. I'll have to play royer. I'm going to bet in this place. But i was thinking to me for roy because previous to roy at kind of a little bit been typecast i think certainly in england is playing so of sweet nice soft characters so i knew the type that i had been planned. No one's gonna make for roy. And i didn't wanna make anyone uncomfortable. I we're working together. I said well. I'd like to be you know i'd be like this so i waited until the end of the rise room and i've filmed myself in five saints is roy and i sent an email and i said thanks very much have left this. I think. Been thinking for a while. That i could play roy. But it was announced thinking to me for roy. If this is coulda of even sent this to you or it's shit you can pretend you never got this email. And i will never ask if another. Do you like it here here. Five scenes as may's roy. Thank you very much unless never speak of this and and then about two. I just think i decided Looking people in it. Let's just go with this guy and Luckily about two in the morning. I got an email and this is fucking great and then iran am very very very very very very lucky. I love that but like which parts did you identify with more. Like like for instance. I'm a writer if i'm writing about like a famous basketball player. I'm not and now. It's my turn to play that role. Suddenly i will learn basketball. The larry bird by up the luc longley chicago bulls watch that. Would you djelic did that. Scott's here's this is why we're doing this. This chamber of april won't be the you which it was it was to do with. It was a couple of things one was. I had actually grown up with professional. Football is like family friends of us profession fully. So i love them and i do seen the tragedy of i felt the tragedy of roy. The fact that you know he's a football during that's all he knows who he is and he's aging. There's nothing can do about that and there's no pub in that wants to play football but it's coming and that sort of tragic can i think it's relatable at any full aging is sat. There things you wanna do that you can do that. Awful so there is that side of it but it was also the anger like you know. Truth be told. I'm fucking angry all the time. I very much tapped into that and And the thing. I think it was around the the scene with Is it five. And it's the same way. He skies kelly in the parking lot. And she you know he's behind her and she goes oh and he did us. Gay guys yeah. You snuck off the woman in a car. And so within that. I was like i could see how to do this in hindsight very weird because it felt really lack of pool like i had to do. This amazed at happened. Something that i think is interesting about. This show is runs contrary to what you just said. Which is you were used to playing. Nice people and you play this kind of asshole person whereas jason certificates to me. Yeah if i feel. Like if i ran into him he could like lamey out with three quick insults. That's just my feeling. I have about him and i watch him on the show. Obviously he has this like pollyanna energy so when someone says cut and he's interacting with you do you then get this other half forever takes. A success is exhausting for him. Because if we did ten takes us like in sounds as phyllis diller. That's a really good point. I'd never thought of that. But i think you're right. I think by jason and now you're talking about the in verses like he knew what he had inside him and it was much nicer will matter philosophical kind of the other one certain. He had a chance to express that encounters e played whereas i was the opposite. I felt like now fucking angry. And i could kill everybody to express now. Have you interacted with jason sense the nomination since the g. q. Cover since the internet has decided that jason is the hottest person of twenty twenty. One i have. And what is that. Jason like now because i'm in agreement. I'm in agreement but not because of this show i remember seeing him at the black clansman premier and everyone was dressed up..

"I still say Coupe, our team that we're top five were being polite, but our team was the greatest ever because when they go with Michael Jordan's team, the difference is, okay. Michael in and, and Magic, cancel each other out, James and Scotty cancel. Each other out, but you're telling me Luc. Longley on Corrine. You're right. Bill Clark said, no, that's too much Captain. That's too much cat. That's too much. So I still say, our team is the greatest ever. Our bench was better than Aris 2070 games then, and please, when we played, was at his strongest days off. You ain't taking days off and call it in. Can't go. It was 65. We still have 65 grinding and then I think about this. I still say, I know I'm jumping around real quick, but I'm so proud of you. Cool. I'm so proud. Aren't he? Had a statement, almost, a week ago. I think where he said, you know, what, the Lakers the best move they had was getting added White House. Because now Anthony Davis doesn't have to be centered on that grind and I thought that was statement was genius and the late Muhammad Ali when he if he heard that statement Michael Cooper. He would say TG United as you look it wasn't last week's podcast. He brought that up. He said he said that too. When when after the Lakers won the title and they didn't they didn't bring Dwight back and development. That I didn't like that one because if you have a size differential, you know, a Draymond Green on Anthony Davis, Anthony Davis, got that one. You know what I mean? I'm so I'm so proud. I am saying I am fair weather, though when our Lakers winning, I got my ring on when they lose they stink. I'm fair weather. Man. I got it bad. That's why you're being a legend in your own mind, man. But what was it? Like, growing up for you as a young person? Oh, man. Listen, it was a game. There was a maid. DeMatha, so I'm from the east coast, and that's how y'all gave me that nickname stuck scratcher. So I came to La things like, man. He's a scratchy. Let's do the scratch here, which meant scrub, he couldn't play Em. I'm from Washington DC. There's four of us. I went to DeMatha Morgan wootten at the time. The winningest coach in history of high school basketball. And I think the same way with Adrian Dantley and Kenny,. I said, I was going to say he's from DeMatha just a moment. People just Sidney Lowe. Dereck whittenburg. Markelle fultz a Victor Oladipo. The line has been going well with fundamentals. Fundamentals. Maybe what makes that school so attractive to great players. You know what? I think really Morgan wootten took a page out of Dean Smith who took a page out of red are back and took a page out of this one, you know, this one right here and this is on my desk, the Pyramid of Success, coach John Wooden. So my comb Was so, so, so fundamental, man, you could divide them by four. He's just man. He loves John Wooden and those fundamentals. And, and I love fundamentals too. But I'll tell you, this went to the University of Maryland. Lefty driesell who started Midnight Madness, the math in Maryland are only three miles away from each other and growing up. You notice when growing up if off between 6:00 6:00 and 6 9, you wanted to be one of three people at the time, you wanted to be the Magic Johnson, George Gervin or dr. J..

"John Axford, who was a college kid who didn't really wasn't I was on dropped, and I'm pretty sure and then made his mark with the Rockies and then played together with the AIDS. And then you look at what? I'm sorry he's been around forever. Doing great things with, like an ex wife's uncle actually reached out to ask you about the team and the chemistry and the guys and stuff and then you look at your marriage. Continue. Who's done the same kind of round was I have with Being deaf aid being started being all this sort of things and the charisma these guys have had I mean, you can learn something Remember absolute everybody, Whether I got a guy who's got three days in the big leagues or guys 25 years in the big was she always learn something from anybody. And that's just That's the base thing, but hopefully the biggest thing I can implied on the guises. Nothing's given. Everything is like you gotta own absolutely everything you get If you ever get given something, if that gets taken away, it's things a lot more than if you if you go on out down, But the Italy in the contract is well deserved. It's a big contract, so guys who have signed Large free agent contracts in the past. Some guys struggle because they pressed too much to justify the sunny Is that something that you are conscious of that? You've got to make sure that you don't try to do too much to justify the contract. I feel like I've been in a similar situation last few years, obviously, um Into as 19 hours. The FAA came back up and got the the opening shot of the wild card game. So the next year I had to justify okay, well, I need to get better from that start. And so then I came out to the 19 and had Pretty good year on DTIC over the closing rolls with Oakland and then the next the year after the off season around like, OK, well, that was a flash in the pan. That's not what he is. He's gonna get back to everything. And it was just kind of know I'm going to go out and prove to you that that was what I am. And this is what we're gonna do, and then I'll see. 2022 short season and everything that happens. That's it's been their way. The last couple years arrived on had then had to prove Everybody that this wasn't a fluke. This wasn't a shot in the dark. This wasn't just a flash in the pan. This is something that is may and this is why I'm now this I'm gonna go about doing things, so I'm not really changing mindset wise of like where I get financially earning like that. It's just Proving to everybody out there that look, you can pay me how much you want, but I will make this look like a bargain. And that's my That's my biggest thing. I'm not gonna make it worth it. I'm gonna make it look like it was an absolute steal, and that's just my mindset going into it about proving Telling everybody Look, you don't think I could do it. Watch me what we can pay watchers wondering Awesome. Liam Hendriks joining us It's Waddle in Sylvia on ESPN 1000. All right. So the standard's pretty highly, um Luc Longley won three championships here. Can you break his record? Well, I've actually met Luke. Um, he's from my hometown. So I met him when I came over and 2007 with the twins. I met him before I signed the deal and was like, Hey, What do you think I should do? You think I should go to college? Or do you think I should go to professional baseball? It's right into the into the frozen. He was like, Okay, let's talk about it is what colleges have reached out or what college have. You got an opportunity? Go to him. I go to the three in Iowa. He just looks. We get Go straight in a system like that. Just radio. I know. Look a little like actually brought her up to my agent, like, Look. Don't tell him what happened last time they brought in Australia and it was it was well, so, um yeah. Look, was able to bring three championships back to Chicago. I mean, I'm here for three. But it's gonna be full because I have complete faith in myself. I'm gonna make this deal look like a bargain. They're gonna pick up that options. Uh on then we can talk. We can talk better from there, but look This is a team that has a window to compete over the next 456 years. We've got a bunch of young guys on this team that are hungry. They want to do it. They got a little bit of a taste of the last year. And this is the group is going to stick together for the longer hole and, yeah, I'm excited. I mean, Three rings, obviously is it is a lot is a lot to say. But I definitely see it least one and as competing for all 34 years that I'm here as well. And it's just Yeah, we've We've got the right pieces, and from what I'm hearing, we've got the right right leadership in the right owner to get it all done. That is new White Sox closer Liam Hendriks on water and Sylvie just yesterday. This is White Sox weekly. I I like listening to Liam. I'm glad you all had a chance to do the same couple of things here. One he Notion that Luc Longley brought three championships to the Chicago Bulls is very funny. And I their countrymen, I get it. There was that fellow was Oh, Mike Jordan, right? Michael Jordan. He did a lot of the work, Scott. He was also part of it and everything like that. But I I get it. You know, Big man in the middle of Luc Longley Three championships. And I love Luc Longley. Don't get me wrong. He is hilarious. Go read his quotes and post game. He was coaching some lead in Australia doing something somewhere, and he's just very funny and all of his post games. We have also mentioned that he had offers unauthorized from a D three college in Iowa. So I want to do some research and try and find out if I could narrow down by process of elimination, which college in Iowa. He got an offer from but everybody from Luther Dakota Cornell to grin Ellis Simpson. Everybody has a baseball program, so there's really no way to You know that? Maybe I'll follow it up with Liam. Although I don't I don't really want to burn like two d three in Iowa. They do a good job. They're just getting out there. Playing baseball guys must be good scouting. They know what they do what they were doing. What would be really funny? That's Tyler occupied producer. What we really cool is if we find the coach Who's on Hendricks. Maybe that's our next guest on White Sox weekly, the coach who wanted Liam Hendriks at a D three in Iowa. Now I got some homework for the week. That's your That's your job. Go find me. Whatever pitching coach 15 years ago, wanted the Ozzy Liam Hendriks to come in. Central Iowa. When KASPER's coming up in just a couple. He's going to be our guest on White Sox Weekly Been talking a lot about Liam Hendriks signing with white socks. Of course it is the biggest news out there. I know Rick Hahn just quickly here. We'll get to this in the final segment of the show was well, we talked to lend next. We'll probably chat about it, too. Yeah, I don't recall on general manager of the team said, You know, if this is I think he is the Hoosiers Hoosiers analogy. Which you're gonna learn this about. May I think I'm the other guy. Don't care for Hoosiers. I think that's becoming more.

"T Waddle 87 on Twitter, hundreds telling. I said he stopped thinking that he was entitled to be the closer to do this. Would you do that and you just went out and was grateful for the experience and Change the way worked out. You know, it sounds like to like He's a guy that obviously approaches it the right way. I do think that there are a lot of players, regardless of sport to get paid and then go out there and try to press And then ultimately, it kind of affects what they're trying to do. So it's big contract, But he told you at the end, he's gonna make sure everyone thinks you're getting a bargain. Yeah, good. That's a great approach. Keith on the north side, you're on ESPN 1000. What's up teeth, fellas? First of all I want to say Thanks to ESPN for being the only station this year that's going to provide us with playoff baseball. Does it not coming from the north? That thinking of all and I am Hendrix. I wouldn't get impaired the 67 days. 60 67 out of by 100 wins. Wow, That's a long what's a very good for a season? Is it still directing? It's all the 70. I don't have them breaking the record this year. Don't do that next year when we went back to back world theory. It's 62 Francisco Rodriguez in 2000 and eight I believe in 62 seconds here, Daniel, Break it again next year. I don't know if you want to pitch in that much to tell you the truth. I mean, you want him? You want these guys to be fresh in the post Season two, and they've got a really good bullpen with great young arms. You know what I'm saying? That's and look, you got the socks were gonna mash too. So hopefully some of these games are bigger than three run leads where you don't even need the call in the soft top toss and lefty Mark Silverman to come in and mop up with a 10 run lead. Do you know how to pick up a baseball Sylvie, and that was a good line. It's good. I didn't expect that. How'd you pick up had to pick up baseball? What with my hand my hand. How about in Luc Longley's from? You know, you never want to assume because it's a big country. You know what I mean? Like, Hey, you're from so And so? So you should know this, but Sure enough him and look along here from these on you. And so am I right in the neighbors, but they were from the same town. That's pretty cool. It's cool to have him have him in town. I like it A lot of enthusiasm. Listen Some of the enthusiasm that we had with the football season was maybe it was it wasn't Rejected well, but now we have baseball look forward to after a basketball season that I think will be a little better than most anticipated. But we've got some baseball on the South side to be excited about. Let's go like if you go through our teams. The Bears. Arrow is where Up down sideways. I mean, like, I think it's dad. I would say, probably down. I mean, it's been sideways. They went eight Nate. Then they went eight. Nate got into the postseason because they expanded the playoffs. I guess that's the aero sideways. But when you consider now The quarterback situation? Yes, which was always your situation. Louis. Riddick told us that your stock and there's I think we have a lot of cash to spend diagonally down. Okay. If it's not straight down inside, diagonal down, I just like I want to hear a presentation on how it's going to get What makes How can you convince me that it's going to get materially better next year with all of the the The factors in place. That's why I was pitching you Jimmy Garoppolo earlier because I was just trying to think of like who? The guys who could be out there this year. That you may not have to trade for maybe gets released, You know, But you know you could go for Jamie's Winston. You could go for Cam Newton. You could stay with Nick Foles. Who else is going to be And you wanted it? You're not gonna trade for Matt Stafford, are you? No, I'm not. Because I'm not ready to win the falcon like you Look at Matt Ryan's contract. It's insane. I want to say it's like 40 million. Anti Isis is like he's the he's the quarterback that takes you where you want to go because every other part of your team is ready to win. I don't know that that's the case here. So the Cubs Aero is down? Yes. Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. All right. So that's two teams down. Hawkes. Carol, Way down. I would say the Bulls Aero is up because they were. They're coming off the floor there exactly. And like the Bulls Arrow is up. With so much room above them. Yeah, it only could go up. But at least now we're trending upwards and we're having fun again watching basketball and we're seeing where everybody is. I'm taking it one step at a time. I'm not yelling them like I'd like them to finish some games. But I'm not like going crazy because they didn't finish in in both l a teams and then the game and Sacramento. They got another chance tonight in Oklahoma City. Yeah, um And And then And then there's a Sox. The Sox Arrow is the on Lee won with chants a championship arrow going up. Yeah, I mean, I would think in passing say that he thought that the socks for the team to beat me in American League We have that right? Chris Jeff passing from? I think he was on with Captain Hoody. Earlier that yesterday it was It was just kind of like his throw away about how how good the White Sox can be. That was before the DJ Let Mayhew news. Yeah, I'm looking for hold on. Yeah, I think so. I think I think.

"Whatever happens, everyone is okay with it never on useful because lungs were winning games. I don't care what happens. Liam Hendriks, joining us, the new White Sox reliever and like like I could tell what you're saying is legit like that. It's coming from the heart, all the all this stuff so The mindset that you now have Liam are you good with with kind of teaching that to the younger players as well? A lot of people learned one thing for themselves. But then sometimes they may not be. Outward on passing it out. Are you a teacher as well? Yeah. I mean, that's one of the reasons that's one of the things that stress the enclosed with the White Sox and the other teams I spoke to was. Look, I've been through a lot in this game, whether it's being designated five times whether it's being On from a note not to a started who started to a relieve it to a mineral leave. It's one open it to a close it like I've done pretty much everything there is to do on that side of things with my rolls and everything. But I've also just done a lot of growing up man play. I've had some great teaches in the bullpen from me for myself was all like I did with the Troy Hawkins, who played in the big leagues to 20 years, I've dealt with Ryan Madison and John Axford who run when you look at Ryan matching story. He was out of baseball for three or four years and came back and had another four years after that. John Axford, who was a college kid who didn't he wasn't I was on draft and I'm pretty sure and then made his mark with the Rockies and then played together with the AIDS. "It is not nailed it. This is basically you've have experienced home shafts that they're given real leftovers and they are tasked with making high end. What like a well presented dishes out of these leftovers. They don't have to use all the leftovers. I think like the rules are maybe they can leave out one ingredient. But it's amazing to see like what some of these people are doing with these with these leftover food whether it be a fish sandwich whether it be a hamburger and fries. It's kind of incredible. I'm three episodes then i'll give it a taste. It is fine. It is something that you can have on and you could be doing something else and but it is fun enough i do. I do quite enjoy it. i'll give it a taste. I i watched the first two episodes of this as well. And i'm right there with you. I'd give it a taste. It fast. food segment was the most interesting segment for me. Just because i can relate with those leftovers more than some of the other ones they use. I also liked how the host weren't just yes-men do each other and would disagree with statements that the other host would say too often in a reality cooking show. yeah. I like that too. I also watched it's called so you want the real story. This is from the player's tribune on youtube. And there's five episodes outright now and it's sports related so it's basketball related and they've got like alan iverson episode. But i watch. I haven't watched the iverson episode. I'm gonna watch that. They had the real eddy curry. It was called the real eddy curry. So you want the real story. And steve i know dude dude dude dude dude. I know you're my basketball guy in this episode. And i know you've got to be familiar with eddy curry. I'm definitely familiar with career. I'm a chicago bulls fan Two thousand and one draft comes around. And that's the guy that i wanted. I wanted. i wanted. I wanted a big man. You know what i mean. We had we had elton. We had elton brand at the power ford spot. And i was like man. That's the one thing that the michael jordan bulls were missing was a real big man. You can yeah you could say luc longley. We had a three headed monster. We had fucking luc longley we had will purdue and we had bill wennington and it's like whenever somebody got into foul trouble they'd throw in bill wennington and i know. He was seized at saint giants. He was a beast at saint. John's but like these guys weren't shaquille. O'neal these guys weren't patrick ewing. These guys weren't david robinson. These were it was a three headed monster. You through in your best fucking center at the time and hopefully they didn't get into foul trouble right. That's how it worked out with the chicago. Bulls so i wanted a real dominant center on the bulls and eddy. Curry was a high school player. He was six foot eleven. Two hundred and eighty five fucking pounds. I was like oh my god. Yeah like i remember picking up slam magazine and eddie curry's talking about shack. I'm not afraid of shock. And i'm like oh my god. I want eddy curry eddie. Curry's talking draft. Pick that. I want i want a big man and the bulls drafted him at number four now. They also fucking traded off. Elton brand for the number two pick tyson chandler and tyson chandler turned into a fine player. But you know i mean. He's not to get rid of elton brand. Who is the fucking co rookie of the year. Back in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine fucking insane to me. I'm not terrible. I agree man and they fucked. Do that was a great draft. That was a great. They picked up. Ron test at number sixteen and elton brand nuts. That's nuts yeah. Yeah whole squad like all of them could have been like all of them could have been five to six rout sticks us six six right right. It's just what did your team need at that exact moment your turn came out eddie curry story. He never panned out as a great center. I mean there was a i mean. He played for the bulls. He played for the knicks. he fucking had a heart murmur. And jesus that was a problem but there was this thing. The players tribune on the internet their website. They had a piece on this and they break it down in this. These are only like twenty minutes a piece but his he. I'm just gonna read this. This is this is from the player's tribune in the peace. Curry goes through a number of heartbreaking stories about his life as an nba player. And why he doesn't appreciate people laughing at him starting with the murder of his ex-girlfriend an infant daughter. Do you remember the steve. Oh my god. I remember that dude. Yeah i forgot all about Back in january of two thousand nine nova. Henry's nova henry twenty four and her ten month old daughter. Eva were shot dead by her boyfriend. And the lawyer who had handled the child support payments negotiated with curry frederick goings. Curry was married at the time and still is but had kept his relationship with henry a secret from his wife patrice. The tragedy was made even worse by henry and krys other child noah who is three years old at the time and witnessed the shootings therese. This is curry's quote before i knew it. I was on a plane flying back to new york. And even just within those few hours a more and more details became clear. I found out that my son noah was right there when his mother and sister were shot but he was so little that he didn't really understand what had happened he. He tried to wake up his mom after this after the shooting so when the officers went in and found him there he had blood all over him he actually laid down next to her and it fallen asleep home on. Dude i fucking this is a. It's these are these. You can watch these on youtube. and like. Here's the thing. Like i as a bulls fan. I was let down by curry and for years. I've fucking. I've said many bad things about eddie korean. How he didn't pan out. And i watched this and i've i've kind of done a huge flip on like how i feel about this guy what he was kinda put into and i mean this guy had so much so many bad things happen to him goings. This guy was convicted on two counts of first degree murder in two thousand and thirteen and sentenced to life in prison current. His wife stayed together and raise.
