"She didn't vote. I think she wrote somebody in but for her to come on in four years and try to get at the yes very racist. Ramona just didn't work for me. But yeah i someone who came on to to represent the black voice. You know her. I seen on the show. She was wearing a t shirt. That i think said. I'm rooting for everybody. Black or something like that and it was just kind of like your brand is blackness at this point and for me. I'm uncomfortable with anybody. Who wears not just their race but my race to write as a brand as opposed to engaging honestly with what for them as an individual race meant on the show. I tried to get it for white listeners. The idea that inviting people to like a dinner in harlem and having the dinner be about learning about harlem and black historical figures is like not anything. I would do to my friends in general and to not what people are watching house wise for right. This woman sounds like she was kind of put into the show elga rhythmically and unknow level. Is she delivering something. You actually really wanna talk about or you know. She could have delivered something that we wanted to talk about right but she had talking points instead of an honest conversation with these people it sometimes. It didn't feel organic right. There was one moment in the early part of the season. Where at a table. Someone implied that she was angry when she wasn't and that was an honest opportunity to address an angry. Black woman stereotype. great fantastic. that felt like it was born of a real moment. Ray a real situation. But like i said you invited all these old rich white women from the upper east side to harlem and then gave them a black historical figure. They're like she called was it. Difficult leah or luanne james baldwin. Here it was like this is absurd. This is absolutely absurd. Not only are your like historical figure parallels not accurate. It's just like what are we do. What was your intention here to give a black history lesson at like. This was absurd. It was embarrassing. It was like cringe-worthy and the problem is is. She wrote a black housewives show. She wouldn't get one because he's not interesting enough or thought enough to be on like a potomac or atlanta like they wouldn't hang out with her. Yes you are in. Kenya would call her door right away. Door out here what are you doing. She would be gerusa. Dora on atlanta. But i kind of can picture james baldwin saying out of the side of his mouth. Money can't buy you class. I came so let's rethink her. I think actually contribute something valuable. The other franchise of the bowman's that is currently. Eric is real housewives of beverly hills and lewis. I'm sure you're familiar with the tom. Girardi erica jane's rama. If a me surface-wise yes. Well i mean this past weekend. I spent with a bunch of friends from san francisco. And they're all obsessive watchers of Most of these but like what happens is when the show comes up like someone will just go erica jane. That's it discuss about her straight about. This show is like everybody quote unquote wants to talk about it. But unless you're someone like ray who's fabulous and different than provocative and intelligent. Everybody thinks the same thing about all of the characters and then there's nothing actually disgusted. It's like wow. That leg flew across the table. It's like right. That was of course meant to be crazy. So i get frustrated. With the stagnancy of the conversation about housewife's i get that i would also offer that that becomes a problem for fans of the show like ray and i because art line discourse surrounding real housewives shows is very frustrating. It's super frustrating. Fans get in sort of like a hive. Mind about a certain person on the show and And just barrel through and it's very hard to have these kinds of substantive stations about real housewives We're the weirdos right because this is the show that people go to to watch people be drunken richard they didn't create it with nuance in mind. So we're the weirdos deviating. From what i suppose is supposed to be like what's going on. My frustration is that Especially with like erica. Jane bravo seems to be pushing that she's innocent in all of this. The ideas that her husband's stole all this money and she knew nothing about it and she's trying to make the case that she is not responsible for the crimes of her husband and she doesn't have to give money back or whatever and you'll see on like watch what happens live. Andy cohen is dismissing documentaries. About erica jane and her husband's transgressions or he'll invite the guest to support her. I remember even he had some like podcasters on and was shocked. That one of the podcasters said that they didn't believe anything that eric goes selling. And so it starts to get to be confusing because you start to wonder about bravo's role in all of this if erica. Jane is responsible for some of the things that she her husband is being accused of things that i think she's definitely guilty of then. What is bravo's job. And how ethical or unethical is it to exploit a story line that requires like victimization of innocent people and the care upset her because at the end of the day they need to play both sides of it. Yeah in order to get her to continue to stay on the show yet. Found you know. Bravo wants erica. Jane staying on this show as long as trial is going. I mean even you know with theresa judaism on new jersey. They literally pause filming while she served a jail sentence. I realized what an absurd sentence though. Yes it's a reality show. We wanna get everything and you. This is their real lives. We should capture it. But at what point is it distasteful and expletive and to what degree is bravo encouraging the crime because bravo requires them to have a certain lifestyle and a certain amount of wealth for them to stay on the show. And it's like if these people are trying to step it up to keep up with the joneses and these people are trying to step it up to like mash. The like you can't be on beverly hills and live like a bomb. You know what i'm saying. So it's like all right you could go to potomac and live with robin. Hey listen i love. she's four. She's you know i'm team. Green eyed bandit. Yes that's the thing it's like you are a viewer of the show. And you're making fun of rob before being broker the rest of them right. So it's like robin went and committed a fraud scheme in like stole from old people like jen's shah because she's tired of comments like yards..

"luanne" Discussed on Navy Sports Central

"All right. Thanks for being with us. Everyone carl here with you on navy. Sports central we are into the home stretch and now it's time for our question of the day. I let's go ahead and check out the responses to the questions from our last episode and You may recall as we finished our conversation with lightweight rowing coach. Sean bag no. I asked the following. What are your thoughts on rowing machines compared to other kinds of indoor cardiovascular fitness equipment and here were the choices i gave you a was. I think they're great. I use them all the time. Be not my go-to machine but it's a nice change of pace and see forget it. I'd rather dive head first off the empire state building onto thumb tack and we also had over twenty responders to this one so that was pretty cool to see and based on the answers. Most of you like rowing machines as a nice change of pace so here the ones who went with that selection looks like there are a total of fifteen and that includes Tim smith tom mortenson. Dan pepper beatty smith. Steve gra vini luanne. Mati pod zoo. Sqi fred pay on. Td smyers michael davis sam ritter robbie valdez michael clark and melanie dougherty. Who also goes by the moniker. Melanie who loves her dog. So thanks melanie for responding and there are five of you in the group who use rowing machines. All the time. And those would be. Tom callahan william barbie warren mazanec greg shore and jason shaffer. Now for those of you who remember our podcast episode from a few months ago tom. Callahan is a former navy lightweight. Oarsman he offered up this comment. He says carl as a swimmer. I've always viewed the pool as requiring laps and as roma in their pre concept. Today's Those machines are nothing but two thousand meter gut busting time-trial devices. He goes on to say. I found peace knowing that this isn't the case and that the daily workout on the concept to machine gives you variable workout suggestions to do at your own pace and they also have a global community to log your meters so that makes the machine as threatening as a treadmill now and i agree. I'm pretty sure that until you guys before but The first piece of indoor cardiovascular equipment i owned was actually a rowing machine. This is about thirty years ago. When i was still on active duty in pensacola and i used to use that thing. Quite a bit Eventually i had to retire it because in the future places that i moved. I just didn't have a big enough footprint to to use it on a regular basis. So that's the only reason. I don't have one right now. As a matter of fact. I'm working off a circa nineteen ninety eight. Hr fifty five hundred cycle stationary bike. So that tells you how advanced i am. These days when it comes to indoor cardio gear. I also heard from greg shore who is another classmate. So thanks for checking in greg. He says he uses a concept to rower for all kinds of cardio conditioning and it goes for multiple short and fast intervals all the way up to endurance rose. And i'm pretty sure. I recall from a previous comment. That greg is a big cross guy. So greg more power to you. My brother was into that for a little bit. And i'm all into fitness but man you guys are just a little bit nuts for me and we also had a couple of responders in the empire state building. Thumb tack category The i was a little crow and the second. One was scott gordon who i think what. He was being a little bit tongue in cheek here. Because i don't think his enthusiasm for rowing has dropped off one bit since Since he started gordon's comment was Loved rowing so much The concept to feels like punishment but that and the water will provide good simulation and an awesome full body workout. We also heard from tom. Nicholas and john shea. Tom commented on the large footprint. Making it necessary to go with other options on board. The smaller ships and john thinks they're really good workout. So i'll add him to the five guys. I mentioned earlier as being big rowing machine. Fans the thanks to everybody who got back to me on that question That's great engagement on that one. So let's go ahead and move on to our question of the day for this episode. And it's very similar to the one i ask. Aaron coleman earlier regarding the over and under on marshall's record this year so Here it is If i put the number of navy winds at six and a half are you gonna take the over or the under and you can look for that question. Being up on our facebook group page Very shortly and feel free to respond to that just like we did on the previous questions. Okay and i'll go ahead and read back the the results on our next episode all right before we wrap things up by one identify. The two athletes will be keeping an eye on during the fall sports season in our mid watch segment for the women. We'll be tracking navy volleyball opposite hitter. Avery stole we mentioned her earlier. When we were talking about the mid's game against house and Still again is a senior. From your belinda california. And she's a five eleven senior coach. Labrador calls her one of the most complete players ever to come to annapolis so As evidence of that she currently leads the team in kills with forty and she strong on defense as well her nine blocks so far. This season is good. For second on the team behind maggie bodman so the kids are off to a strong start this year and still is all around. Play is a big reason for that for. The men are focused on ashwin briggs. He is the captain of the men's cross. Country team briggs is from pickering ten ohio and over the course of his career. He has finished in the top seven in eleven of thirteen races. And you'll recall from our conversation with ginger rice last month that grabbing one of those top seven positions is key for the team To score well. So very very consistent performance from briggs So far in his career he's also a member of the indoor and outdoor track team He's an excellent middle distance runner. Last spring he is part of the patriot league champion. Four by eight hundred meter relay team and he was also the indoor eight hundred meter champ in two thousand and twenty so. I'll be updating you on every and ashwin towards end of every podcast episode during the fall sports season. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how they performed for their respective teams. All right. that's going to do it for this edition of navy sports central. Thank you all so much for joining us now. If you like what you've heard remember to follow us wherever you get your podcast and be sure to spread the word to all the other navy fans out there once again. I'd like to thank erin coleman the host of the run with her podcast for joining us today to talk about the navy marshall football game this weekend and remember you can respond to our question of the day by going to the navy. Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr Machiko Roberts applauding businesses that are now requiring masks in the workplace. Roberts tells us if state law would allow she would order a mask mandate instead, Robert strongly recommending mask wearing indoors and also outdoors at events like concerts and football games. "That, you know, and I realize, you know, change is constant, but to throw the word Oh, you're racist. That was that was a racist comment or racist, racist to who races too, you racist to do Who? Who are you talking about? And I worry that that's the problem with critical race theory right now is the fact that it's being just thrown around. And people giving their own interpretation, not to mention just being muddied at the same time, what it really means. Where he didn't as you know, state legislatures around the country. Lot of Republican lawmakers are advancing measures that would potentially bar K 12 teachers from tackling. Authority topics like systemic racism, and sometimes that comes through a lens as people refer to it as critical race theory. And here in Ohio House lawmakers have filed two bills. Um and Columbus City schools came out earlier in June, saying, You know, we think that you've created a problem. That's not a problem. Um, let me see if I can find the exact words. Based at these bills amount to an unprecedented regulation of curriculum and instruction. They aim to suppress dialogue perpetuate an inaccurate understanding of her. Of our history, and they threatened to exacerbate the current national divide that came from Columbus City schools regarding that house. Bill 3 22 House Bill 3 27. Again, you know, they said that they had significant concerns on the impact on student learning and and the outcomes there. So You know, as a public school district, they feel it's their responsibility to facilitate healing through a truthful curriculum. But what is the curriculum and I think it comes back to what Amy In Andrea, we're asking. What is the curriculum? And how was that? How are they made to understand that? And I I don't have that answer. The school has it, but they're not talking. They're not talking and and and and this is just my interpretation, Luann, but it feels like you. You have a school who, while private is not being transparent enough with their curriculum, and which is amazing, because I'm sorry if I'm a parent pain anywhere from 20,000 for preschool to, you know, almost $30,000. I want to know exactly what you're teaching and shouldn't a parent. A parent should have Every right is by the way, especially if you're paying that amount of money or any amount, Whether it's your your tax dollars your property taxes for public school or you're you're paying that ungodly amount for C A. You should be allowed to Critically asking question the curriculum. I don't see any issue with that at all. And part of my background. I for seven years worked for new Albany schools. Is there communication sentence? And so we had parents come to us and ask about curriculum. And we actually published a booklet to talk about the basics of the curriculum, and we had a curriculum director where if you had a question You could. That person could be, you know, get answers from the curriculum Director. So I'm not sure how they structure that at Academy and again one of my favorite things just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it again. Yes, you can dis enroll. I asked one of the moms. Her daughter's a junior in high school, and I said, you know, with your daughter being expelled. What is she saying, And I guess the daughter's pretty upset about it because Because of her parents, activities and beliefs. She Is, you know, some people call it collateral damage. Well, she's not being asked back and for an 11th grade student, I think that's a that's a pretty tough pill. Well, well, Luann, thank you for bringing that up, and that's something no one is talking about here is this morning. We have Three students. We have a junior 1/6 grader and the other mother, Amy Gonzalez is sixth grader who are not allowed back at Columbus Academy. So it but and and they're they're punishing the kids and their education for something that they they're blaming on their parents. I mean, they had no control over that, if you if you want to go that route, sure. But here we have three. We have three kids today. There are being deprived of an education at CIA, and it's not their fault. And again I go back to some of the comments I saw on social media again trying to stay there trying to stay balanced here giving academy the chance. But some people have said Why would you want your kids to go to school there anyway? If you disagreed with how they were handling things so You know, that's just part of the conversation. But certainly the kids are paying for their parents. And yet their parents know that that's the case. Their parents know that that if they were going to continue to take it that far, that could have been a possibility. As many people have pointed out, it's in The contract that you sign with the school Now. Is that what you want? That's entirely up to the person paying the bills and that family? Yeah, right. Well, absolute absolute. It is tough on especially that junior that I feel for her. I think it's Really got to be rough, and not far from applying to colleges. That sort of thing. So definitely tough on her. Well, yeah, Luanne, and I'll wrap it up for this, especially since she has been attending there since what kindergarten, so she's been at sea a the entire time and now to punish her for something that they want to blame on her mother, if if she went too far that It's not her fault. So boy, a lot of questions remain unanswered. As far as Columbus Academy goes so low and so your national conversation and national conversation that we should be having, but Cooler heads need to prevail. Right cooler cooler, able to cannot get riled up and listen to side and try and Make this a conversation that is helpful..

"Those are you know, 22,000 miles in 22,000 miles in the above the planet and these ones that StarLink have about 320 miles, So you get shorter distance, and he's going to blanket the globe, basically, so you could point that dish at anything? Well, that hasn't been the case he needs. Thousands and thousands and thousands of things. These things are loft. And if you look at the addition out, still pointing north, so you know it's a little difficult to track some of them in some locations. Very skeptical. They'll have nearly enough. I suppose if you have the dish Set up on a pole and aimed North constantly. Maybe that's global coverage, But I wouldn't I wouldn't think of it that way. I wouldn't. I wouldn't characterize it that way. Also, it has dropouts there millisecond dropouts, but it means that it's extremely difficult to do a video columnist service and that's sort of one of the quintessential things. The thing about latency, and that delay is that On the other services. You couldn't ever do anything like a video called because the delay was too long. Well, StarLink is dropping the calls all the time. Oh, very skeptical about some of that now for Netflix for streaming movies, stuff like that. It's great. It is working very well. But some of these other applications Not so good. Just saying yes. Well and and obviously Elon Musk owns StarLink. But he noted that that SpaceX which of course is has launched, uh StarLink. Has been losing money on the hardware It sells to access the service. And you said from the very beginning shot that the hardware you know the start up for you to even get it. What is it 1300 bucks a pop or something like that? Well, it's $500. Okay, $500, and then they then the shipping costs and stuff, So I think it's like it cost me. $581. Okay. Change. Um, you know, I did. I did review but I paid for it myself and that that to get their equipment. It's also very limited. You know, You've got a fixed cable to this dish. You can't unplug it and extend the cable. About 100 ft. It sounds like a lot, but not when you're trying to install in on the house and you have to put it up somewhere. So it has some limitations like that, as well. There's some awkward elements of it. But in some rural areas like what I'm talking about, it is the only option right now you can get you can get a landline. And that's it. No self service. No cable no optical. So StarLink is, you know for a lot of people. The only option John, have you ever used like direct TV dish TV any other type of like satellite? Absolutely so. First thing I tried in the country. Yeah. Okay. Well, the reason I ask is because let's take maybe, like direct TV a dish. How does that compare to to StarLink is? Do they have direct TV? Is it more efficient Direct TV? I don't know it. It's actually a lot slower. I mean, it really is slower and you can't do you certainly can't do video calls and things like that. And, um and it's It's expensive, too. I mean, the equipment up front isn't so expensive because it's subsidised. But we start to add up fees and the fact that they may throttle service if you want faster. No more data. You may have to pay more in some of that sort ends up being pretty expensive as well. I mean, StarLink is $100 a month $99 a month. Wow. So unless you're in the boonies probably stick with something, you know, broadband that's in the ground. I know. It's kind of hard to believe. But cable maybe more economically. Wow. Hey, you're always honest, though. We appreciate that inside John quaint, Especially since you've you start links. So, Johnny happy I have a wonderful Fourth of July. We'll talk to you next week. That's almost fourteen as she so sex positive that she's gonna like encourage your daughter to do this. I just end. she's not drinking. But it's all okay because of grandma's are is dying and she's not going to be able to see your to her because she's choosing to be at ramona's house in the southampton's so who's really the greatest granddaughter. Then okay so. They're like let her go or grandmother's dying. They continue the conversation with ebony trying to explain that she was not trying to put down an or saying that she was superior in some way. Just trying to explain. You know that you can still be a really classy woman. An educated woman and speak freely. Use graphic words to describe sexuality and it. Shouldn't it does not affect whether you're educated was point but luanda's can't hear that she's just really annoyed and she says ebony. Lower your voice. You're talking so loud. You're talking you so loud ebony and you know why you're just an angry woman and then she that's upset ser and then ramona just keeps going. Oh my god. I just feel like it's like what i don't know about this. And then evidence says to ramona. Your white fragility is really showing right. Now and lou says do not. How dare you bring her race into this. How dare you and she's like. Oh you want to bring race into this and then louis and looks at ramona. And she's like don't absolutely not. We're not touching absolutely not we know and you kinda get this feeling that definitely girls have had a conversation knowing that a new cast member is a woman of color and knowing the climate that we're in the triggering of everything that can happen when you know unfortunately when people are not of the same race that's all that seems to be talked about especially on television is pointing out the fact that our skin color is different. And you know it just so. I think they're like oh shit here. It is and i haven't even finish. Brian lamb curry and so luanne just staff. She says you're an angry woman and she's like that is actually really racist to call me angry or something. And she's like you're not gonna tell me you're not gonna talk to me that way you're not gonna tell me i'm uneducated my own home ebonyi and she goes well then i'll leave. She's like good. I think you should leave. And then something about trash and she goes with that. You would know that word or something trash. That's what lou says to ebony. Ebony leaves in the preview for next week and please correct me. If i'm wrong and if i'm wrong i'm wrong. You know i try my best. But i see a preview and evans. Very upset i can understand why And she goes back to the house. Where lee is leah. Left the party to after she said the thing about How what age. She thought every was getting sexual. And she says to leah and then lou called me an angry black woman. I'm pretty confident that she did not use the word black but she did call her an angry woman and then the controversy is so you can't call a woman of color angry or aggressive. So if i don't know you know it's some people are not enjoying this season of new york. They are saying like it's you know it's the same thing lou. Ann try not to drink. Leah's like a free sober not. Sonia is fun she never says anything mean about anybody but she gets really drunk and she is kind of the most entertaining. One and and freaks out about the morgan stanley. You know background of her life and then ramona is rude and inappropriate so none of them have men. I did think though like do you.

"I'm sure they spent a long time fixing this photo but they still both good and leah post that on instagram last night when the show aired then the next stay. They go to luanda new southampton house for her new boyfriend. Garth is cooking the lamb curry. They talked about lamb curry so much. I just think this might be the only thing this guy can make. He likes lamb curry. He's lil younger than her. Not that much. He's a tall drink of water. Doesn't like to drink when they say they have dinners on on a friday night. He actually shows up and calls her in the date. still on. who's pulling off. Lou and you guys but i guess she gets blown off like all of us and her kids are both artists so before. They dive into the lamb. Curry is i mean. That should have been the drinking game if you're watching it last night. Every time they say lamb. Curry tak- drink. They're going to paint a nude man. Sonia rips off his his like towel around him and i guess he has a big member and they start painting the stuff. I've gone to these painting classes. I painted a bottle of wine at my country club. And it's wasn't very good at posted about it. I'm not a good artist but you can interpret this however you like remote it gets a little bored after awhile and she leaves and then you also brings over this french musician. Who she thinks would be a great match for sonya and sonya like what does not even know me. I like a guy. The guy was his hat. And you know. I'm an artist. So i don't wanna be with an artist i don't want i like french fries. But he's not my type. I like a guided navy suit with a little ascott. And i like baker is. I don't like know artists. Why does she know that you know. I need another one. So they don't hit it off but ramona's into the music quite a bit and then they sit down finally for the lamb curry and as they sit down again. The conversation goes to. Can we please not talk about this dirty stuff anymore and leah just like loses it and gets really pissed at ramona and she goes. That's it i'm leaving. And she walks out. And then i guess she goes out into the driveway and she thinks about it more. And she even more pissed and in the interim I may get some of this stuff because it was quite confusing. I think it was a lot of honestly misunderstanding. But luanne in defense of ramona. Goes you know it's not that. Were against women being about their sexuality. It's just we're both raised with a catholic education. And you know so. We're taught to be more conservative. And then who is the new girl this beautiful girl. Who's an attorney. She says what's really not about education. You know an educated woman talk about her sexuality to. I'm the most educated woman here and they're like. How do you know that she goes because i googled you all and then louis says excuse me. I'm very educated. I'm i know you are you. Are you know a nurse. That's a great education but if we're really being technical about it. I have the law degree. I entered college at sixteen like an and then louis. Excuse me what are you saying that you're the smartest one do speak three languages. I speak three languages and she said you brought education. Because no i didn't. I brought up being catholic. So that is where it starts to get like. Everyone is just interrupting each other. No one's listening to each other and they're all interpreting what the other person's saying is wrong because they're not actually listening in two thousand twenty one. It's finally okay to talk about our mental health and happiness. Humans.

Was that We are go. what's ten thousand. We raised over fifty thousand. Who donors were generous. They really wanted to help. So we put out a call to our students. Let him know we have this money up to five hundred dollars and We asked them to ask us in the hopi way. Which means you know. Ask for what you need knowing that everybody needs something Asked us for what you need. And we were able to fund just about everybody requests and because of the generous donations we were able to open up the The grant three times. And we'll have it again. This fall luanne. That's a that's a great story. What what are the students share with you about how This enabled them to continue with their studies. Oh they were so grateful because a lot of them to buy this stuff. They had to get part time jobs but of course all the fast food places. Everything's we're close. They had they were out of money and this little bit of help support. Help them out tremendously. We were hearing Things that students were Finishing their papers using their cell phones that was the only thing they it was just really outrageous and we knew we had to move fast and do something so we're very proud of that. We're very thankful to our donors. What's interesting now is in. We did a survey for this fall. What are your now and some do still need the printers and computers but a lot of them are saying they need support. They want to hear words of encouragement. I mean they're they're getting tired. They're they're needing that verbal support and they're things like a place to work with because they got kids at home or on the internet. And i'm sure it's a bit crazy at times. He played for the sixers did he. Yeah equal dahl so that was unfortunately for a andrea equal dollar. He was the next. Day i yeah. He was drafted. he was out of arizona. Drafted like two or three basically right at the tail. End of iverson The thing to with iverson. He hangs around a lot now. I'll i'll tweet a picture out to you guys. I i had a season tickets with the sixers and suffer a while even like during that process and iverson would come around and take pictures with like season ticket holders stuff so altri a picture of me and iverson blocking. Hey man nice. He's a cool. He's deceptively taller. The we all say like he says come on man. He's he was wasn't he wouldn't six foot at least he's like well. They said he was like five. Eleven six foot. But i'm a solid over six foot like six six foot and a half inch six one and he's taller than me so like i was like surprised because of hal again you compare an nba. Players will say he's a big than people. Give him credit lie about some of these players. They said they said they said rodman was six eight. And i've already six six. He's got really long arms like long arm. There's some players that had longer arms. And that's why they're able to rebound so well l. brand had super big hands long arms. Same thing with robin. I heard robin six. Not six l. andbranch current. Gm of the sixers. And you won't have real tupperware about sports documentaries. They did one of those. Espn plus documentaries on rodman. And you wanna talk about the most honest documentary. I've ever seen about sports. It has his family co His teammates coaches. But are you talking about the irish documentary. No talking about the rodman. One to the iverson was great. It was on netflix at one time. It's really fucking good. There's a robin one. Espn plus that. I saw recently. Yes haven't watched that one yet. I have to watch a tupperware. Anyone in and it's very honest like he's very honest about himself. His kids are on it and there it is. You're not gonna leave that documentary like dennis. Rodman's i do like you'll still respect it as a player fucking love. I fucking love dennis. What he did for chicago. I think it's a fucking shame that they have not retired. His jersey in criminal in the united center was about when they did it when they did it in detroit. I could tell you could air. "Well, hey, Luanne, and the taxes is party you're planning and that's why we're talking about today. Don't get tricked her get talked into like a laser plan or all these other dorky things that people are promoting where it's just a product and it's a product that they say it was. Everybody should have, and everybody should just do it because it's the greatest thing since sliced bread and Any time you hear anybody talking about one thing that every single person should be doing is suitable for everybody. You just know that's impossible. That's one of the things I guess I'd start out with a little bit of a word of warning because I have a lot of people asking about. You know, these people are promoting these things. And one of them doesn't even have a license. And so he has his kids do the work for him. So he could say stuff, you know, and not have tol under the same rules as other financial advisors, So just watch out when you're talking about You know, any service tax saving schemes are you know things that are all we're gonna do this one thing and it's gonna save you a ton or you need this one for you Any time you talk about that, because that's usually not the right way. It's always better to have an implant. It's kind of like that pill or whatever that's going to make you have. I'll lose all that extra weight and you'll be super fit. And you won't ever have to exercise. We all know that's never gonna happen. Except but people still sell that stuff. And so, yes, saying the same thing here when we're talking about taxes and talking about here. Tire mint. Make sure you don't get tricked into one of these kind of one hit wonder products or something, and it make sure it's a plan on not just a 11 thing that's supposedly going to cure you like a one hit wonder or something like that. No, no, yeah, several different things or what's going to go into creating that plan. I do want to talk about taxes today. Bloomberg is saying that you know, doubling the capital gains tax. Along with all the other existing taxes could be as high as 43.4%. But that's federal Texas that doesn't even include state taxes and some of the top Tax rates for states could potentially top 15%. So let's just talk about in general how people really don't understand how much a bite taxes can take out of the retirement savings. Eric tell us about that potential. Every time somebody calls me from the radio, and we're talking about retirement. We're starting to go through that blueprint process. We're looking at the tax minimize her strategy that we have is part of the five areas of the blueprint. And they just always blown away about how hold Oh, I thought taxes. We're gonna lower retirement. What went into those lower tax thing and Yeah, it's not there. I mean, I'm it was somebody somebody who was doing this crazy stuff. I mean, borrowing money to not have to pay tax and doing all this kind of weird stuff just to keep the tax rates low and spending so much energy and time. Obsessing over how to save you a tiny bit more in tax and you know, you also don't want to be doing that retirement, right? You won't just be enjoying life. Unless unless paying a low tax bracket is your hobby, which is a little odd, But you know, Yes, that could be it. So, you know, so I think that's one of the big keys is knowing that taxes if you're putting everything in tax Deferred money. You're just kicking the can down the road, right? You just procrastinating and you're just saying, Hey, I'll pay later. Well, the better you do it. You're following Kay. The better the government does in real retirement because that means they make more money. That lower tax rate is obviously not gonna be there. So, yeah, I think more than ever. You know, we have to be watching for how you're going to react. Tol look at those taxes and how you're gonna create that ideal income for life that really, you know, blends all that stuff together and say OK, how? Because you're gonna pick your tax rate. I mean, that's the crazy part in retirement. You know, if you've got some Roth money that's tax free, or you've got some after tax money like you were talking about capital gains. Well, that's all that doesn't affect your IRA and your Roth and For on KO that only affects your normal dollars. So if you look at all these different pieces of the puzzle, will you know if you do this there and that there, then? Yeah, You may have a lot lower tax brackets. So you get it almost pick your taxes the retirement if you plan ahead. If you just do it and you you're trying to planet in April of what already happened previous year. Yeah, I know it's over. It's already happened. It's just reported at the scene of the crime, and there's nothing you can do. So, yeah, you gotta take care of that beforehand. So that's a big key. Love that reporting the scene of the crime. I like that. You have something special, though, that you could get the hands of our listeners today on taxes if they just text this. Tell them about that. Yes, if you just text the word taxes to ex es to 800. 454 11 84 again. Text the word taxes to 804 54 11 84 804 54 11 84. And we'll send you a report just letting download real quick and all about taxes in retirement and what you need to know. Also, you get.

Certainly in my practice, I see many men that are struggling with physical components of sexual disorder, and there's quite a bit of Help to be found in that particular arena. One of the more discouraging scenarios in my practice is to witness an individual or a couple who's grown dispirited or Unho piffle. About their sexual disconnectedness and hopelessness destroys growth for an individual or for a committed couple. In many cases through some early conversations with patients, I can ignite faith that things could be different, and I always championed the truth that intimacy can grow. And in many of these situations, I Lupin some incredible council and expertise with our sexual health therapists. I'm so delighted that Dr West and Dr Luanne Weston, a renowned sexual health psychologist and an invaluable partner, Of mine will be on our show today. I won't introduce her. I am. I don't know if you've heard about sexual health counseling, Tom, but this has been a real gift of hope for a lot of my patients. "Lapham. Two more hours of Bangles talk coming up as we rehash the 2020 season and we're happy to be joined now by Bengals defensive coordinator Luanne a room. Oh, Coach. I appreciate you joining us appreciate your carbon time. I know this is a day where there are exit interviews and everything else going on. And I appreciate your carving time for us. And I know you ran into a buzz saw yesterday a man Baltimore Ravens were playing is gonna football's anybody. They've won five in a row. They're running the ball it a very, very efficient clip. And yes, they rushing through over 40 yards was was something I'm sure that doesn't sit well with you know, that was a freight freight train yesterday that hit us and You know, we knew that they would certainly run it. But, you know, 54 times, you know is even a lot for them. I think But no excuses it was. You know, we we've certainly have toe do better. That's the understatement of the world. But No, it was. It was a tough day all around. Do you give ourselves a chance? Really, You know, we got to get off the field better on third down. That certainly would have helped. But you know, we were loading up the box with nine and 10 guys that sometimes and they just You know they did a better job than we did. Yesterday. We're talking to defensive coordinator Luanne a room a loo. I remember being in the locker room after last year's game against the Ravens of Paul Brown Stadium back when we were allowed to be in the locker room. And talking to Sean Williams after that game, and there was almost a little bit of a helpless feeling in the sense that you feel like you put the chess pieces in the right place. And then Lemar Jackson does something that you just Almost can't account for it. Is there a feeling like that at all as a defensive coordinator? I mean, he's you know, he's obviously this Isa reason why one the M V p last year, and he's He is a handful because, like you just mentioned even when you we had a spy on him a couple of times yesterday, and it's just very, very difficult guy to corral. I mean, he had Um, it wasn't so much that there They're schemed. Normal quarterback runs that that's not what got us Just today when I'm talking about Lamar You know, you have 60 yards and just pass place where he scrambled, Um, you know, And then that obviously adds as to the totals on and then you give up in 80 ardor where we had three guys hit the guy. At the line of scrimmage. 27 bounce off him. I mean, you know, so now you, you know, you know your accounting for You know a bunch of yards on two on two Don plays, you know, I think it's just he's a special special guy. Um and You know, I think I think he is feeling very, very confident. Think they are as a team rolling into the playoffs, But you know, they were obviously clicking. A swell as I've seen him yesterday. Great Roman, their offensive coordinator is doing in the running game. What a lot of teams in today's NFL doing the passing game personnel, groupings, formations, motion misdirection, all all that kind of thing. They rushed for over 300 yards and 3000 yards in season 3000 yards rushing And the all the talent that they've got their way over, You know, Offensive line. That zone is kind of Ah, force. They've got tight and second block. They have a £3 fullback mean they. They've got some components and coach to me. It's 11 11 football in Jackson's got the ball. And then when you run the quarterback common, they're pulling back side. Lyman. They got a lot of helmets. They kind of out leverage. People. It Z pretty impressive what they do. Yeah. I mean, think about this, right? I think wasn't it wasn't long ago. I think the last time I was the first or the second Steeler game where No. They ran for 2 80 or 300 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Right? Um, you know, against that front with all those guys on again. I'm not alibi that they understand. That's a lot of yards. Uhm for them, Um, Whenever the heck that game was, um might have been the first game. I'm not sure but and in 2 80 against the Giants front last week to 62, Whatever the heck, it was, but They're just a team that that's their M O. That's who they're what they're built for is to grind it out. And if it if they want to call 54 runs like they did yesterday, they'll do it. And that's why it's so paramount. One of our keys to the game was to get off the field on third down, and we just didn't know that. And we knew it was gonna be third in shorts. You know 13 that certain Won. The five won the fours, and that's where they live for the most part of the season. And you know they were they were. They were able to convert so that that makes it that compounded, you know, for the longer drives and things like that. So you can't You can't operate that way against that team are visiting that Luanne a room Oh, before the game yesterday, there were three teams in the NFL that were blitzing more than 40% of the time. Baltimore Pittsburgh That's to be expected in Tampa Bay. Those three teams all had great years now. The next couple of teams on the list I think of the Jets and Falcon. So this is not universal that it always works, but But I do wonder when I see those three teams at the top of the list..

Texans Bid Goodbye to the LuAnn Platter: Lubys is Liquidating

"Wondering, I'm David Brown and this is business wars daily on this. Friday. September eighteenth some sad news from my home state Texas. Luby's is shutting down on the surface. It's another casualty of the pandemic. Now, if you're not a Texan or haven't spent much time here, Luby's cafeteria chain and an institution. It's an understatement to say that for decades it's been beloved at one time. There were more than two hundred. Luby's Cafeterias in eleven states. Now, there are fewer than eighty left all in the lone star state. The restaurant chains shut its doors back in. March the loss of Luby's goes far beyond the financial implications for the business itself significant enough and even beyond the jobs of its workers the liquidation of Luby's marks something of a cultural shift one that began years ago. The birth of Belugas we know today is the subject of many. Texas. Squabbles was founded when Bob Lou be opened a cafeteria in San Antonio in nineteen forty seven as the company's corporate history claims or did it get it start even earlier with cafeterias run by Bob's Ancestor Harry Lubi? In Twenty Nineteen Texas Observer Writer Andrea Valdez felt the question was so vexing that she wrote I leave the Arcane Texas history quibbles to the more about Asli knowledgeable of our readers. Regardless Luby's was one of many postwar restaurant institutions that sprouted up to serve suddenly sprawling suburbs in the late forties and early fifties. Once upon a time, the announcement of a Luby's coming to town conferred to kind of signal that this place is on the rise in meant heaping helpings of chicken, Fried Steak Square Fish Fried of course, creamy macaroni and cheese and Jalapeno corn bread all at modest prices and serve with a bit of Texas style. You want more you got it. How's your mom and him with Y'all be able to come back next. Sunday after church you get the picture. Its old fashioned meals, liver and onions and Jello cubes became both famous and famously addictive. It was comfort food for sure. But in a fast changing ever more complex world that bright red Luby's sign was. A comfort in another way to sort of reassurance that simple things endure friendly servers, sensible prices, and the luanne platter half an entree two sides in a row. When a character named Luanne platter appeared on the TV show King of the hill. It was one of the coolest knowing winks ever broadcast in the lone star state. Some might say. The fact that you didn't have to dress up for a Sunday dinner at Luby's made it even cooler until Luby's wasn't cool anymore. By the nineteen eighty s he to become the cool equivalent of driving a fleetwood Brougham something grandparents did. By the two thousands Luby's was suffering at the hands of fast casual chains serving fresher healthier food like mad, Greens, and chipotle. By last year, it appeared that Luby's could be on the way out in June. The pompous family which owns Luby's which in turn owns fudd truckers thirty store hamburger chain attempted to sell it. The takers however, last week Luby's announced that it is dissolving the chain and fudd rutgers to the pompous family plans. To return the money to investors, it could amount to some one hundred million dollars. For the moment, the website proclaims that they're still open. So. Perhaps, some might want to run in and get one last Luanne platter while you still can nothing lasts forever. Alas, Lassen it's too bad that in the case of Luby's most people are okay with.

High School Cheaters Nabbed By Neural Network

"This is scientific American sixty seconds science. I'm Christopher Dodd Yata, the English language version of Wikipedia has almost six million articles. And if you're cheating student that's six million essays already written for you footnotes and all except plagiarism isn't really ineffective tactic just plug the text into a search engine and game over. But what about having a ghostwriter at a paper mill composer final essay, STAN dot K two recent software cannot detect this kind of cheating. Stefan luanne is a data analyst at the university of Copenhagen in Denmark, where he's based ghost writing is a growing problem in high schools, so Lawrenson and his colleagues created a program called ghost rider that can detect the cheats at its core is in neural network trained and tested on a hundred and thirty thousand real essays, from ten thousand Danish students after reading through tens of thousands of essays label as being written by the same author or not the machine taught itself to tune in to the characteristics. That might tip off cheating, for example, did a student's essays share the same styles of punctuation. The same spelling mistakes were the abbreviations, the same by scrutinizing inconsistencies like those ghost rider was able to pinpoint cheated essay nearly ninety percent of the time, the team presented the results at the European symposium on artificial neural networks, computational intelligence and machine learning. And there is one more aspect here that could help students your high school, essays presumably, get better over time as you learn to write and the machine can detect that the final idea is, of course, to try to detect students who either at risk, the because that development and writing style is not as you would expect teachers could thus give extra help to kids who really need it while sniffing out the cheaters too.
