Ian Millhiser, Senior Correspondent for Vox, Discusses SCOTUS and the Future of Roe v. Wade

"Ian millhauser. Welcome to fresh air. It's good to be here. thank you so much. Let's start with the basics about the new supreme court ruling on that texas restrictive abortion law. Can you summarize the basics of this law to refresh everybody's memory before we delve into a deeper. So this is a law. That's effectively a a ban on abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy which is very very early but most people aren't even aware that they are pregnant into until long after that on and this is also the most aggressive antiabortion law that has taken effect in the united states since roe v. Wade in one thousand. Nine hundred. seventy three on sewer talking about a generational shift potentially in how the supreme court is looking at abortion. I think that this order probably for shadows a decision in a case that the court is expected to hear probably this winter that could overrule roe v. Wade altogether certainly is going to take a very deep cut into abortion rights and it's the product of years of work. I mean you you have to give antiabortion advocates credit here. They've spent many decades working for this moment. They elected president trump who promised to appoint judge justices. Who had overruled. Lovie wade at it. Looks like we are now on the cost of a supreme court decision doing just that because the makeup of the supreme court has changed so much

CS:GOs Latest Patch is a Disaster

"Properly. Understand what trusted mode is why is causing problems I spoke with Gamer. Who has a background in cybersecurity and run something called the over watched police department, which is a discord server where you can report cheaters different F ps, games, and he'll do his best to get them banned. We've spoken to him a bunch in the past for cheating centric. Don't me episodes? So I think what they're trying to stop a lot of the pace thing that's going on in Seacot cs go is actually like if if? If you wanted to create sheets and you also want to cheat developers. Hey I. I WANNA create sheets, learn how did it? They will tell you do then see us go because enciso. It's extra really easy to create sheets. There's a lot of tools out there. Basically, he says, what trusted mode is trying to do is also its biggest problem namely stomping third party software from communicating with. CS Go. So if you've lovie asked discord or. Or invidia freestyle graphics filters open while trying to run CS go. You'll be met with a message that tells you close any third party software into relaunched es go entrusted mode. You literally can't run the game with something as simple as spotify open in the background. Here's a quote from the longer blog post dedicated to trust it mode quo. Some applications interact with CISCO BY INJECTING DIRECTLY INTO THE GAME process. This method is used by common. Common applications as well as cheats. We can vastly improve prevention by restricting injections altogether as opposed to determining whether an injection is a cheat or not, and Gamer doc says, the valve is essentially saying that because hackers are hiding cheating software within normal in usually safe third party software bounce, just GONNA ban everything from trying to connect to see us go. It's not an issue because the reason why it's blocked, it's because cheaters are. Really using these fumble softwares. Like they have some vulnerable locations in the software. So S, for instance, you're able to hook onto BS. driver. Or whatever, and be able to cheat through ob s, or you could cheat true nvidia stuff or you could true cheat through discords overlay. That's the reason why they're blocking and it's because it's not the fault of the Anti Sheet team. It's the fault of the company not removing these horrible things. Now, trusted mouth doesn't specifically tell you what third party software is potentially raising red flags. So unless you're literally only running CS, go have fun trying to figure out what applications you need to close. Game Reduc described trusted mode as glorified PR move in response to Van Guard, which is. Is Right Games as intrusive anti cheat system that they rolled out with the release? Of Valerie. He said that vanguard operates at the colonel level of your computer's architecture, which basically means it's a level of your computer software that the General Gamer. Rarely if ever has to deal with in according to Gamer Doc, it's here at the kernel level where you'll find the most sophisticated in hardest spot cheating software, and again according to him, Cisco's trusted mode doesn't. Doesn't work on this level at all instead operating a more surface level basis, which he's told us in the past does almost nothing to stop hacking or cheating software from getting into your computer and listen these days. Intrusive. Anti Cheat Systems are out there face. It has one vanguard one, it's not like vow doesn't know they have to go deeper nick repeaters architecture to actually stop cheating, which is why Gamer Docs speculates that trusted mode is more of. Of a glorified PR moved than actually a piece of software that's going to keep people safe. The best solution like in any like oganization like that's has an anti cheat think colonel is like the best solution to combat the Cheetah's at least from my perspective like seen Van. Gart completely annihilate every single copy paster on just like private sheets, even like as you can see like the to private to pro players who got bonds for cheating. And all dot could have stuff like they are really aggressive with their anti cheat and it's really working. He also told me that within an hour of trusted mode going live hackers had found a way around it. He even sent me screen shots and links to forums, hackers, and cheaters were openly talking about how simple the system was to hack. So yeah, trusted mode hasn't seemed to stop people. People from cheating and it just seems to have made things worse for people who just WanNa play competitive on top of the third party software issue players have complained about frame rate drops when doing something as simple as moving your mouse across the screen and according to both valve and Gamer Doc. This is a side effect of trusted mode in the Anti Third Party software stance that valve. Valve is taking, but it's also a problem that they're actively looking to fix quote. Sometimes, applications attempt to inject during low level windows, mouse events, which results in noticeable performance degradation. When the most moved, we're testing a mechanism that has virtually zero overhead, even the most zealous injecting software. Once this new approach ships players should no longer notice a performance impact from running entrusted mode even when moving. Moving the mouse and quote after the go community complained that this thing was a China pain in the ass vowed pushed out to new patches, the latest of which went live on July twenty third in it. They talk about fixing performance issues related to trusted mode, and they provided a temporary fix to allow third party software to communicate with. See US go cope a new compatibility launch option. OPTION DASH allow third party software is provided to allow third party software to access the CS. Go game process. So basically if you punch that line of code into your steam preferences prior to launching see go apparently third party software now works with the game, but my question is doesn't this defeat. The whole point of hackers are using third party software to cheat and see us go why. Why would you let people turn off the option that apparently stops that now, valve has given players the option to completely turn off trusted mode and play in the old version of CS go. But there's a catch quote if you would like to play while using third party software that interacts go launch with the DASH untrusted launch option note that in this case, your trust score may be. Be Negatively affected and quote that last sentence stands out to me, your trust score may be negatively affected. Remember Trust score is one of the ways vow figures out who to Q. Within matchmaking. So if you play trust turned off, that score could be negatively impacted even if you've done nothing wrong. Okay. But where does all of this leave us? Well, the good news is that valve is. is working on fixes, which they noted in their July twenty third patch note blog post, and while this definitely won't fix ups goes cheating. Problem Gamer doc does think that this trusted mode is a part of valves larger long-term plan to fight back against it. I think personally becomes just a marketing thing. It was just calmed out some of the players because of the huge influx of cheaters. And this influx of change that's not going to stop belief aimed to increase an increase unless something major happens.

Once Upon a Time in Africa with Amy Hehre, PA

"Welcome back to the WO man. I'm your host and Yell Maupin Today. I'm here live with amy era. I'm saying that right. Yeah Yeah Okay Awesome. She's the CEO and founder of Lovie Children's Hospital in western Kenya as well as a p a backer. And paediatrics oncology and nick. You I love you so much. I just can't wait to dive into your story and envisioned. So thank you for coming on. Thank you so much for having me. I'm excited. It's so great I just have to say like a real quick shout out to whoever. I'm sorry I can't remember who message about you. But they're like you need to go and check out amy's story everything that she's doing like I just feel like she'd really resonate while with the wall. Med and strong women with vision. So I'm very very thankful to finally do thank you So I always like to Divan kind of with your educational background was. I don't think we've had a PA on yet. So I'm very excited. Your first yes. So yeah like what What made you WanNa be a physician's assistant. Yeah absolutely so I originally was going the the premed bath and I went over to Kenya just to see. 'cause the entire reason for medicine. Was this vision this Michigan Of going reaching these vulnerable children and I saw the urgency And I knew I didn't want to be in school for thirty years. And so yes going over there. I met these people called clinical officers. It's a kind of like a middle level that term position in in Kenya and I was like I wonder if we have anything like that in the US. Very Small Town in Kentucky and so I really didn't know what was I had one. I always in a car accident and fractured my neck when I was eighteen and actually went to a Pi had no idea. Oh my God but yeah it was actually being in Kenya immediately. Clinical officers there. That had me exploring for faster ways to get to Kenya with a degree that could. Wow Oh that's so so then When did you actually? I go to Kenya when I was twenty years old so Seven years ago. Yeah Wow and that was primarily just for like Like a religious like mission trip or exploration. I felt I felt the call just pulling a question had to do anything with your life. What would it be and why in answering question That I would love to go and find older and and give them the medical treatment that they need It was such Just I always laugh a pageant girl had been I in pageants I knew the onstage and was in my heart but I didn't know it was never pursued that and just said well. Why aren't you doing that and I was so convicted? I dropped my major. I didn't know what medicine mid there's not even your doctor anything in my entire family tree that I know Major before that I did broadcasting. Yeah I was. I love public speaking. I thought about speech therapy a little bit Have is just completely. What like what is medicine. What goes into this and I had been a straight A. Student and I was like. Oh well you know this is fine. I'm in Honors College. I've a four point. Oh it can't be that bad premed. That's for smart people and remember. I felt across the first semester. I was like Oh my word like I am I am not only am I not gifted at this? But I'm really like an I I don't want to fail at anything. Yeah And so I was like God like how could you have me doing something you know that that I'm not gifted in like don't you people in what you want them to do? And I just remember finding my competence in the fact that like this degree was going to enable me to access these children know whether I was the best or the worst clinician. There ever was like getting to know their names getting another diseases. Into prayer in them and the specific things was going to be gift. And God's going to figure out the rest Oh Wow okay. So school was not that easy. It was easy it was not easy. It got better. I'm very I feel like I'm emotionally intelligent. It when I can see my patient as like I remember the drugs that were sitting next to them. I remember being on Heston because of like a clinical experience I could remember like the drugs and the doses because I put it with the person. Yeah Chemistry and like all of the pre recs. I guess for medicine that was that was my hardship of everything. I've been through and Africa everywhere like that was my sacrifice that was my hardship through that pre medical but once. I got to the place where it was. Patient centered and and the emotion. That's when school became by you to you. Play all your knowledge to practice at Ascoli. Yeah 'cause nursing's goals not easy. Oh no I literally. I don't know how I made it through there. I think like a B minus be plus sometimes see and but that doesn't negate the fact that you were an amazing provider you know. Yeah no one in my class. Yeah by the grace of God is able to get through. Pa school very well but it was. You know that was. That was a struggle and I like to be open and honest about that because I know there's so many people out there who feel like you know. Oh I can't go into medicine. I can't even sit for this interview because I have You know I don't have a four point. Oh and there were many people. There are people who got my class who had four point in interviewed five times before they got in and I had on. My transcript still had a three point seven. I was from owners. I worked hard to get things to where they looked impressive. But ultimately I had blueberries that a lot of people think that's out a class now no one will ever look at me and I did apply to one school and I got in because my passion knew by heart and my drive. I like you know they're like how do we know you? What again is because I had the faces of these children and and they haunt me and we'll reach them and I will access them in. Pa School's GonNa do that. And so I really As much as I'd love to be prideful in pretend like you know oh I was always this this. I love to share that portion of my story. Just one person that it hits. Who's already dream so that maybe they'll go back and try again. Maybe they'll Have the confidence to sit down in. No it doesn't matter what Blueberry I have on my transcript. Her one deficit that I think I have like if I'm called to this than I need to pursue well some of The greatest minds in our history have failed in. A failure is a part of growth failures. A part of the the journey to to get to where you're supposed to be you know I mean if you've ever known failure you you just. I don't think you have the same respect or like appreciation for it like once you attain it. You know completely agree

Bad habits and baby voices

"I will. I just got back last night from Kansas House in Kansas. For four days filming a I was hosting a show with zeiler Falkland because no beauty in the bolt checkout. She's great together. We hosted this inventor show called make forty eight and it's about ten groups of people that get together in their forty eight hours to invent something design it make a one minute fill and do a pitch to basically like three sharks and then the best person the winner wins ten thousand dollars and we have a lot of fun it was it was a great experience and I got to meet some really great people I got a? I got to meet a patent trademark lawyer who I'm going to continue to work with shoes. Amazing did little log segment on her. So I'm looking forward to putting up. She's amazing What else also jokingly. I was on a plane yesterday and you talked about. I was waiting to get on the plane in the Waiting Area. A Guy kept side. I I was like okay. I wonder if he knows me so I just ignored it. And he kept side iming and then at one point I got up and talked to my phone and I held my phone to him and the whole back of my phone says dressed on it right after I got off the phone. I was wondering if that was you and I just saw the back of your own. If you don't mind I just WANNA say hello. He's very nice guy. He's dude he was coming Albany to do some electromechanical worker. What he does reliving. So you're talking but I realized I'm trying to be discreet having my name plus on the back of my telephone. It's probably not no. He was asleep. Dude but traveling was Was everybody's worried about me traveling but everything was fine. It all X-ray only so three people with masks through four airports. I mean through four four times at the airport Taylor said to me straight away when she picked up. She's like a lot of people wear masks necessarily so three people. So and there's lots of hand sanitizer around so it didn't seem to be the man the big deal that at least it seems like right now. Who knows where it's going but traveling was great in any event was a lot of fun. And that's going to be on the air they're going to edit what we shot into ten episodes of TV the last two or three of which will be the winners developing their product outside of the show trying to develop their products sell blind so check that out that would be season four of make forty eight so their season one two and three already out there in in last last year this time I was a judge on season three so I was one of the judges this time I was actually host. So where's this going to be like? Where's this available? It's on It's it's got coverage of ninety eight percent of the PBS stations across the United States. A PBS so I think you can go to their website and see. The old episodes previously published seasons this three previous seasons. It's weird that I never heard about this thing. But at workbench on they made a big deal out of it and like You know you guys all the people that were going to be hosting stuff got up and talked about it and stuff and I'd never even heard of it or maybe I just never heard of the name. Yeah well I probably mentioned it last year but it is it. You know. It's it's a little tiny. It's definitely a little marketing effort. That could you know. It's not huge in a big way and it gets paid for underwriters Stanley. Black and decker underwriter. And they're not really when somebody underwrite something. It's really more just like the the greater good of the community. They're not really using it as a huge advertising opportunity but they do have logos and stuff throughout the show but it isn't explicitly in your face so make forty eight is the brandon. We're GONNA be doing an event in Vegas If everything stays scheduled right after make essential so Kristen from I'm sorry. I'm getting confused as so many show events organizing my kristen from workbench. Khan and the make for eighteen teamed up to do this event at the hardware show in Vegas and that's why we pitched we did a little sales pitch at the end of Workbench. Khan and just people if you wanted to come. And it's going to be ten teams of people making stuff and I'm going to be the host again with Zeila but other mentors will be like April and in Izzy and a few other people will be the mentors for those teams so they'll be guiding those voluntary teams to builds stuff at the show. So the alive bill. It's not. It's not the same type of invention show where somebody wins. It's going to be ten. Things get built by ten teams and it gets gets followed throughout the five days or four days and it's really just like a big build off. Live bill buff. People can come in watch every day and see how the teams do. And that's in the then. Those products will be given away as gifts to a good cause. I'll put a link to the make forty eight site which is just make for you. Eight dot com in the In the show notes and it looks like you can watch the episodes of the previous seasons and stuff on the website. So what's to check it out anyway? That was a great experience back now back in action so you. That's I mean. Have you made anything in the past week? Or if you've just been doing that no well this week. I gotTa start another doing another fundraiser. For the Jesse Comes Foundation Jessi. Combs is the the race car driver who died last summer trying to set the land speed record and we were all kind of friendly with. I just started to get to know her. She came and spent some time here at the House with me and Taylor and she wanted to learn about youtube so she she we had met at an event she's like. Hey can I come hang out with you? Learn about Youtube because she was going to transition from TV to youtube so we spent some time together we had a crash course in developing a friendship and then she died unfortunately about two months later in a car accident and so a group of us are getting together with Make for Jesse to raise money for her foundation as the girls donations. So that this week I'm GonNa make a picture frame in Mark Adams. The photographer has a lot of really beautiful. Pictures OF JESSE WILL MIRO EVENTS. So everybody got a picture of big picture printed on like aluminum. It's a really sturdy. Beautiful print very expensive print in each one of us are making a frame. And I'm GonNa do that this week. So and unless we video was arrested of Joe. Press which is amazing amazing old Joe. Press Lovie if you haven't seen not take a look at that Joe Press from eighteen ninety s Cincinnati. Joe Press from made Noel so Yup I. I'm I set aside some time to go. Read the comments on their his on like you were making fun of yourself of what the what the commenters we're going to do. And so many people are imitating your baby voice in the common. Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah the baby voice. I did on the JAAKKO documentaries hilarious. I'M GONNA actually get it to video of the baby voice doing it more because people love it. It's like me and Dave Welder. Invented that concept years ago. We only did it one time where we will. I was showing. I was showing people how to use the table. Saw and David was the troll voice from behind the camera. And I haven't done it again. Everybody thinks that something they've seen a few times. We've only did it that one time. And then in the Jaakko documentaries the second time. So now the troll voices the baby boys and people really love it so everyone notices. You know. They'll complain them in the bottle. They'll be like in baby voice so I know that. Just kidding or when somebody really is is some is taking a swipe at me. I Say Okay. Now say that again but stayed in the baby boys. That's all I say because so I gotta give you the link I would be to give you the link to the Jesse thing because it's something we wanNA promote. Okay Yeah but in the show notes You should get your your audience to like win. Somebody is attacking you for them to leave a response to that just says like baby voice and it just will add the tone someone else's comment no doing it doing it already. It's great that's all. It's so funny because I think it's going to become a very prolific thing. They're going to be doing another everyone. Because you know we get sooner. We get a real vicious comments. Or instead of just deleting it I'M GONNA leave it up and just have everybody's they say the baby voice say it say in the baby voice? Say

Skin Congestion 101

"Is basically just clocked polls so when you have congestion it basically just looks like He. Skin isn't spotty. There's no real blemishes. It just doesn't look like porcelain fresh like when I've got no make pawn. My skin does not look perfect. And when you've got no make upon your skin is like and smooth remember. That picture of jody came on. I'll store squadra is completely clear on congested skin. See when you said to me about congestion before overlooking ox off say something. I've never really had to do when I kind of pictured like blotchy blemish you. Yes Oh today ready fe. Yeah not really. The case is a no so The long and short is that it is a cloaked poll book. The only issue is a few. If it's not a SPA ECON squeeze in trying. Get rid of it. You can't talk directly As you would a spa or acne which is really irritated but there are quite a few things you can do which will go into later. That can help it. And if you're wondering whether you have Congested skin one way of looking at is to see if even if you've got no spots if it still doesn't look perfectly clear but also if you run your hand lovie skin it generally feels a little bit bumpy I know your skin soup. Soft CEOS probably just feels kind of I do have some bomb you know in like areas that are known by the side of your your ears and stuff like jewel. Yeah so I find. My condition is worse kind of like along my cheekbones and like just under my cheekbones and a new one my acne was really bad When I was younger that was where it was the worst and obviously I've got while I have a little bit scarring that now but I think those polls. Quite prone to being congested. Don't really get it on my forehead or get much in a little bit But Yeah I'm quite happy that I finally figured out that such congestion as of with rather than anything else So I mean we're talking on two different ends of the spectrum here Book I mean as in with you and I will like you said Yousef was conditioned sometimes as well so it's probably handy for any skin type to know what congestion might look

Why You Need a VPN

Why You Need a VPN

"Well. Let's wrap up by talking about some of the more secure ways you can browse if you have to connect them. We mentioned this at the very top of the show were. VPN virtual private networks and we mentioned that sort of man in the middle attack where you are logging into a hackers machine gene thinking that that's a a legit hot spot and then the hackers kind of relaying information and sniffing the entire time. Learning all about you. VPN's are kind of like that the legit side where you are logging into a remote server somewhere far away probably through an encrypted connection and then when you browse it's as if you're browsing from the servers location not your personal device so if I were to log into a VPN and then log into a web service the web service would see my location as the location of the VPN server not my gadget. That's actually in front of me right right and not necessarily just for if you WANNA look at your my little Pony Brownie fan fix but VPN's can be extremely useful if you're trying to access access a website that's only available in select countries. So if you choose to purchase like a consumer facing VPN product. And there's many out there. I could rate make recommendations but they're constantly changing as far as their privacy and security terms and policies. Go so I won't make any major recommendations here But if you choose. VPN that has a a for example a country facing server. That's in Japan. That means that I could download this. VPN Log into it connect through Japan and be able to access a website. That's only available to Japanese residences So I had to do that a few years ago when I wanted to purchase tickets for the studio Ghibli Museum through Japanese website. It wouldn't let you access it through an American server or an American connection so I logged in through my vpn through the Japanese server And I was able to purchase those tickets through the Japanese website. It thought that I was in Japan so it let me do it in that way I was able to save myself so much money. It was wonderful so you can do it for you. Know Oh buying goods buying tickets for you know going to a concert in a different country or a museum or something like that in a different country you can use it to access online streaming portals. That are only available in specific countries. you can use it to download. Specific things are only available in specific countries. Like the list goes on and on a as far as different ways that you can use. VPN's that aren't necessarily just directed for Security and privacy but are also directed at manipulating where the website thinks that you are coming from. Yeah and this can be a matter of life and death for some people like entering the United States. Religiously I use it for the purposes of things like privacy security and convenience but in other places where you might be in a country with a more authoritarian Ryan government one that is a far more restrictive in access to certain services if you're able to connect through a VPN which granted that means that that government agency hasn't been paying very close attention. But if we're able to do that then you can log into different things as if you were from some other part of the world and they get access to vital information or services that otherwise you would not have at your disposal so they play a very important role. In fact. I gave an example today with a friend the mine about how I would see. VPN's and incognito mode together being incredibly important so imagine that this is a terrible scenario. And I put that out there. I but imagine that you are in some form of abusive situation at home and whether it's a spouse of a Apparent into some sort of authority figure whatever may be but you're in that abusive experience. You're going to feel like you are helpless and you want to look for resources that can help you get out of that situation. But the same time you have a very legitimate fear of being found out for seeking out those resources and the fear of reprisal that you you might face as a result of that well using something like a VPN and incognito mode would mean that you're not leaving a trace on the network of what you're doing because as far the networks concerned all you're doing is visiting this VPN server. It's not seeing what else you're doing all in those you went to VPN server incognito mode means. You're not leaving the trace ace on whatever device. You're actually using to do that sort of search so these are the sorts of tools that can literally mean life or death scenarios for people and Yeah and it. Yeah and once you start combining those different security and privacy products together that are very consumer or friendly. Then you can end up having a much more secure experience online especially if you're dealing with some kind of like like an abusive relationship or something like that that can and be a something that you seriously have to worry about so definitely take those into consideration using an incognito mode and VPN's together together is so easy to. It's just as simple as opening up that browser window in private browsing mode and turning on your VPN which is usually Lee with a lot of software nowadays is click switch now computer and there are a lot of VPN apps out there like their love the services where if you subscribe to the service you can news Your computer or you can use a mobile device or you can use some combination of multiples and they're even ones where you can have it set as a default that as soon as you connect connect to Wi fi networks you connect through the VPN. So you don't even have to think about it in that case Which is definitely good? If you're using a mobile device in your connecting to public Wifi I five frequently. You definitely want to have that that that turned on because if you ever forget about it that's when you're going to have the opportunities for people to take advantage of you. The last example is go ahead. I'm sorry there's also the option to build your own. VPN But that gets very much into the nitty gritty since since there are a lot of consumer facing ones that are generally fine for the average. Consumer that's what I would normally recommend but when I go to Defcon for example I bring up like my own certificate my own. VPN and my own little lovie pin basically file. And I stick that on my phone to actually run and my own. VPN When you do that you're basically creating your own secure profile as opposed to trusting VPN company with your information in hoping that they are doing it for you. Yeah that's a great point Shannon because a lot of these solutions actually ultimately require you to put trust in another entity and and you know there have been cases where even VPN's have suffered data breaches in recent past. Where you know you have to worry about that kind of stuff to AH? There does come a point where you have ultimately you have to say to yourself. At what point am I comfortable handing over control or handing over the you know some of my data the because either you're doing that or you're doing nothing but the you know deciding where that point is is a very personal choice. The very the last one I want to talk about and we can do this. Very briefly is tour. The tour browser a tour initially was an acronym instead for the onion router and the reason it's called onion is because it does encryption in layers each outer layer being another layer of encryption and I gave a very simple analogy. Imagine in that you are trying to ship a present. Let's say I'm shipping a present to Shannon but Uh thanks you're welcome but I don't want you to know where I live For some reason and I don't want anyone to know that I'm sending a present specifically to you for some reason so what I've done is I've nested your package.

Everything You Need to Repair Summer Hair, Skin and Nails

"Remember your Selfie Bockel with the bless when you stayed at my house yes so I was trying to do a random act of kindness risk because one of the girls of the salon wanted to try as Makka Macho tea with Mac much so she was like all Gung Ho she wanted to try. Try was like all. I Have Amazon prime. I'll get it for you forgetting. You need a minimum order of Lake for free delivery. I'm like looking you like it depends on the item true. It was four ninety nine. I'll maybe what is it. What is the minimum. I feel like I think it's it's like this team. Maybe it's fifteen. You're right that sounds about right so I jumped and got some scrubs. Somebody's GRUBS and I found by accident at at whole foods these they're called Pasha soap company and its creamy whipped soap with calming arniko extract. That's as the calming one. It's it's whipped soap with exfoliating minute wait so you got it at on Amazon Prime at whole whole foods I was thinking trader. Joe's I was confused. Got It. Yes you got it through Amazon prime from whole foods totally get it at whole foods. You don't have to be a primary known to you know we love him. Okay but is one hundred percent knockoff of wet. You loved in my bathroom is while the lemongrass one. which is the charcoal clarifying sort here? Oh Dog Nas smelling right. Now is cucumber seaweeds taking feel so it's a little too little ready but when water hits it at ladders like unbelievable. Oh this charcoal lemon grass magic bliss Heiferman. Why would they call it charcoal lemongrass. Lemon Grass peppermint now lemongrass definitely Jessica Simpson moment like his lemongrass pepper may thing you dyed my hair brown otherwise people would know the truth okay so you can get this on at whole foods or Amazon Private Pacha so company and it's the we're we're smelling all they have to clarify one. which is charcoal lemongrass Intikhab more though the best was like six other sense six other? There's a law in the line this one Dead Sea mud smelling Dead Sea man. I'm excited because I think that was going to take my spray. Spray Tan off how you like that one. I think so I think I will because I think like this like I'm on the last Hurrah of the Spray Tan at the little blotch so it's time for me to a hack it off. Isn't it just like tumor. lovie immerse over so is this summer by youth by the way. Oh no forty four 401 happy birthday so great in fact by the time all listening to this I will be gallivanting somewhere between Mykonos in Florence so don't cry from Argentina. Yeah no looking so bad but forty so anyway. I'm going to talk about my shelf which I found from my other travels this summer approved by Ryan and I want you to know I really go to Ryan all the time and my can I use this this on my hair so I was traveling and I needed a curling iron but when you travel internationally even if you have a converter you need to have have hot tools that can take to the dual voltage so t to twenty volt or two forty volt depending on where you are my good old T. three curling. You're not one ten I already blew one of those out once and it was like one hundred and fifty bucks to replace. Oh Mama wasn't making that mistake again so I found this also so on Amazon it is by Medina M. A. D. E. N. I A. to one hair. Straighten are and curler travel curling flat iron duo voltage. It has the ceramic plates tormo lean. I was worried that it might find my hair Ryan. You gave me the okay yes but I said be careful when it all turned on by accident. If you turn a curling iron on in you go to use it as a flat iron and you touch the outside you you're we're. GonNa bring a so so I want to say that to basically it's not to areas that you turn you turn this thing on and probably if you had a more expensive one it would be but this was twenty nine at third 29.99 great by it gets my seal of approval so you turn this on the whole barrel heats up and there's like a little little switch on the side that you push one way if you want it to be a crawling arm with like the clip that locks and it locks it so that you can clip it and then if you push it the other way the curling rolling aren't splits down the middle and opens up and then is your flat iron. It's brilliant. I don't I didn't understand why they don't make all of them like this but I'll tell you girls else. You need to flat iron your hair from the very top. This is not going to be for you because if you think about a curled barrel when you open it up you have to leave a little space because the outside of that curling iron we'll bring you right so now for your hands they do make protecting gloves they usually come with the wands and they come with a crawling but you can get those on Amazon to Lampton voles glove coverage. I just got a silly wand at Costco on the go and it had like these cute little like finger gloves. I was like okay. I'm still going to burn my pinky when I'm looking at the at the pictures that they have is their display the grow with curly hair you can totally do that and I did that this girl with the straight hair you can't get straight from like an inch away from your head down because crime yeah but but it's great but a mini thought iron could still do routes it could but let's let's be honest when you're traveling or at least when. I'm traveling internationally now. I need all the space I can get either so this is a godsend. It's two in one and if you need your hair that straight like you pull it back in a ponytail out. Oh you sat your hair like an abundance for the first half of the days that it's straight at the root yeah also the the Carribean Express that you did for me. Yes die you love it really glad it's so great and it's part of the reason I wanted to talk about all of the stuff that we did over the summer yeah all of the negative if things to our hair to our skin all of the abuse it's not that it's negative all the abuse that her hair skin now body takes will. I will tell you I make so so much money sep- September because every single client now we jumped because of your birthday. We really did the Shebang on your hair so you don't till that way right now but everyone else comes in semi charon goes my hair feels like crap yep rights so oh. I have this like this overhaul hair thing and I think everybody needs at least two inches off yeah cut it cut it off two inches and then lowlights lowlights or rich in the tone a little bit and lowlights as a reaction to the highlights the brassiness talking about also your hair gets really bleached out from the Sun yes it. I don't care if you're a Brunette. I don't care if you're a redhead. I don't care if you're blonde it. Everything's light so laureen marine and or the saltwater exactly so runs ten foils of lowlights evenly spurs her head or just paint a few piece paint a few to pieces of lowlights through your hair and then conditioning treatments and continuing it at home for like two weeks and your hair will be back to normal. No we had done the Ola plaques yeah about that in an old episode I actually had it as one of my shelf is because I liked it. You bought it at Sephora. I think it was like thirty thirty bucks but they do an insulin treatment with that they do so. It's an oil base treatment. It goes in your color. Okay 'cause then you bleed. Chuck is if you're getting into the low lights is at the request of possible. Shore can absolutely request. Olo Plex in your lowlights and you can apps now. They have some take home treatments as well that are bomb right so they're a little heavy. They are a little bit goes a long way. I like to number three which is the number six which is like a new. They've come out with a seven yeah because six was not great. Well it was heavy wasn't good for you. Good for some okay. So what do we think about carrot and I was surprised when I came to you. Midsummer was like I want to. Redo the carrots and again and you're like girl. You were living your best life. If you're in the saltwater you're in the pool. That's not good for the Carrington at all what strips at the salt it yeah it. It's it's a coating on your hair. That's going to take the coating off faster. Is something that we might WanNa do again in the fall or is it like give it a rest. Give it a rest. You have a definite you have two coats on your hair the lousy personally but I'm saying like for other people do care to normally and you can do you can do a full cartoon treatment and you can follow it up with expressed. Don't don't do it again. Come fall chill out. You'RE GONNA break your hair off of it. You're like other people can do it amber back away from the Carrington model. Oh okay so while we're on the topic of hair. I do want to address hair removal because the fall the fall is the best first time to start your hair removal. How ever you have to make sure that your summer Tan has completely faded. Yes because when you're going link to do any sort of laser treatment the laser is attracted towards that dark pigment and if your Tan it's not going to be able to tell the difference between your skin and the unwanted pigment and you're going with Burns but we do know that it takes ten full months to have a full six treatment cycle of hair removal because you're going every six weeks except this is a good time to book for. Let's say act HCT one or if you're really really good and you didn't get any sun on you can start it now but if there's even a little bit and I know that because listen I wore SPF. I slapped it on. I was at fifty and seventy being in sunny locations. It doesn't matter it really doesn't so okay. Let's actually talking about the skin and the skin damage image. You actually look good though thank you. We're really careful. I am I yes. I'm I'm insane I I don't Tan I burn pink or get read and then so my tan is always sprayed onto always say I say here all the time so for me you turned on me onto super groups. Vail love it the invisible the invisible so I always do I do that that I do a little makeup that I spray the supergroup supergroup like makeup setting spray with SPF again. You told me that won't listen. I believe in layering SPF because when I went to Aruba I was using the super goop full disclosure. It says that you need to reapply it and I how reapply when you have makeup on so that's why did the spray because you know what the Super Group is. Invisible commands. You can put it on her makeup but I'm talking about over. I don't work to the beach to the ball. I had a hat on and larynx. SPF never about idea but if you are going to be in a sunny place you also need to make sure to

The Future of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and Disney's Movie Monopoly

"I think we have to go and see twenty three right off. The top. I manage just told me that she read a thorough examination of the announcements made at this this weekend event. How are you feeling. Are you excited about the disney plus era upon us yeah but you have to do this. Julia minoshe from nonfiction chris farley watched non-fiction. You can just look blog. I clarified clarifying. I i think for disney and for me <hes> possibly in different ways you know disney has a strong brand as we know and it is quite articulate clearly articulated ticketed in this and i think that there will be many people including parents and star wars fans who have end marvel fans watch look forward to and i will be sending ending my streaming money elsewhere very interesting not surprising take from chris you are the coast of a podcast called the watch a long running podcast a hot. It looks closely a culture at large but particularly television a lot of t._v. Shows and disney plus. Here's my take on them. Don't care. I'd like to talk to you guys about the movies that were announced cheshire. Okay aside from the mandatory and i do care about this. Say which i care about all the there are two more stories memories t._v. shows. I'm sorry yet theoretically the mental learn is the only thing i have a clear percents of what it is and what it's going to be which actually does feel like the star wars show that we should have had like twenty five years ago very like <hes> grounded in the dirt small character look as opposed to the intergalactic battle kind of t._v. Show the other shows. I don't even know what are those shows. Isn't there a urine mcgregor. Obi obi wan the whole thing right. I think he's lovie wine. Even as i was saying it out loud i was like oh got him getting the names right. Am i getting the names right. Have you guys like a mandate. We're going to do a star wars episode so you should host and she she has ever told you. The story of this is a fun game to play. If you're like in a car and really board is you can ask you just tell you the plot of a movie a husband and i do this sometime and we maybe we should just do a podcast sometimes because it's really wild what people remember but famously i was asked to do the plot of star wars and i gave the entire plot with like intense analysis of the sexual tension between luke and leia and then also hans solo and the trash chute and all this stuff and just like did not mention the desktop the sexual tension between hansel and the trash chute. We are in russian. Oh yeah and i even got but at no point. Did i mention like the death star them blowing it up like the central plot of the movie just didn't exist in my brain spoiler. Sorry we have revealed views here officially that the death star is destroyed and star wars a new hope very sorry to everybody who hasn't seen episode four chris. Would you make the movie news non non non star wars edition so we got some moral news. We got a little look at the lady and the tramp live action yeah so for most of my life. Disney has been like a non factor <hes> it was a i never really grew up in disney household and a lot of these <hes> sort of legacy titles. Don't really mean a lot to me. I don't even know if i actually seen bambi like for instance. <hes> so a seminal event in movie history interesting to have the doorway into disney is marvel and star wars for me but now being introduced to this huge volume play and that that is kinda gonna come attendant with all this stuff and one of the things that we probably talk about when we get into the summer movie awards. That's been kind of confusing for me. This summer is having take things like aladdin seriously. You've been doing that no but it's like that takes up a lot of airspace. Have you seen either aladdin no yeah so you're not taking taking it serious. Oh i'm not taking it seriously but wouldn't you say that it plays a larger role in like pop culture in general because of the like the volume of the megaphone is that much louder pre everything builds everything else and now you've got these three things that disney legacy titles marvel and star wars say nothing of pixar and everything else that take up. I mean this is what you're saying a stranglehold on your brain. It's like sixty five percent of the airwaves man. It's true although in nineteen ninety-two aladdin was a big deal to so if you were hosting the watch which i don't know what would it have been call one thousand nine hundred smells like teen spirit yeah exactly if you were hosting smells like teen spirit the podcast you can get out of your windows media player six days to download it would still be forced to talk about and in some form or fashion but you're right the the the amount of mindshare that they have right now obviously is overwhelming and this is. I mentioned this biennial event. It doesn't happen every year the fact that it happened at this exact time while we're going through a me when wesley just had this conversation last week on the show we were like we are being choked out. You know brock listener has come to choke out with content. You guys get that referenced. I it's about wrestling. It's he wasn't in fighting with my family to today. Thank you to too much time on this podcast. I it is interesting like i could not help but see the announcement black panther too and just how far away that is. We are a thousand days away from black panther too. That's a long time. It's a it's become a cliche to say. We're all gonna be dead by then or the world will be on fire but it's possible that some things are significantly different culture at large a thousand days from now. We may not even have t._v.'s in one thousand days i don't. I don't know what's coming so to be planning that far ahead for something thing particularly something that is so anticipated yeah. I thought it was so strange. I thought it was almost like teasing away. That's funny because i had the opposite reaction which she's like this thing that we have been predicting for a long time which is disney as monopoly is here the this we have seen the realignment of the studios and the streaming services and kind of what the big names are going to be and we have been like well disney's just going to own everything and disney will have this movie and disney will have the streaming service and the men were in all of this i._p. And this was just the confirmation a certainty of okay they have consolidated. All of the i._t. Is together they have their distribution plan ready and disney plus and what what we expected to happen is going to happen and i have an easier time imagining how black panther too is going to fit into entertainment as we consume consumer than i do like basically any movie that a traditional movie studio is releasing or even most of the t._v. Shows on basic cable at this point but i think that the interesting thing that came out of some of these announcements between black panther being nine hundred days away and spider man being excommunicated from the is that there are a lot of people waiting on line. You know what i mean to get in to get their big screen time. There's a lotta characters. There's a lot of filmmakers producers who are all like so. This was a a huge hit and we've got to wait like four years and my guys gotta be in like a couple of thirty seconds spots and post credit sequences of the internals. That's you're telling me it's like that. I'm not single. Black panther would walk away from you. I don't think he michael jordan's. Not gonna get did going to do that but the spiderman thing i thought was indicative of indicative of so he being like let's go let's. Let's do another one most definitely but i think it's because while i think what you're saying is right that the playing field is kind of settled in a way that it's at least for the next next six to twelve months is going to be disney versus net flicks and then h._b._o. Max will come along and then you know. Universal will clarify what they're plays for the most part we we know what the short-term clarity around things but three years from now. I don't know if there's going to movie theaters close three years from now. I don't know if we will have have forty five hundred movie screens three years from now so getting that far ahead of ourselves. I think you're right chris that there's a desire to kind of plant flags. There's there has been mark. Harris has been writing about about this for coming up on ten years. Now this sort of like we plant our flag on a film that we don't even know what it is seven years ahead of time black panther too in particular those struck me as weird because it might be after the rise of skywalker. Maybe avatar to the most anticipated movie that exists that we're aware of world is that i am. I overstating it to say that will add. I think the avatar to is a good example. I mean not that. It's going to go black panthers. The wait between black panther one and two is nothing nothing resembling avatar in avatar too but it is indicative the fact that i think that like without seeing a single piece of footage. I think a lot of people are like. Does anybody still care about avatar. I was gonna ask coup is anticipating. I've talked to you besides get mine. I don't now i don't know but underestimate james cameron at your peril because this is what happened with titanic and this is what happened with avatar people were like is this going to be good. I don't know if i care about this and then boom biggest movie of all time and then biggest movie of all time twice he did that twice. People were like i don't know he lost his fastball. He's a weirdo. He loves to play with his toys doesn't understand humanity so i i wouldn't underestimate cameron trouncing

WeWork Announces Billion-Dollar Loss as it Prepares to Go Public

"This episode of business wars daily is brought to you by sent pro online from pitney bowes shipping and mailing from your desk is never been simpler than with sent pro online from pitney leabeau's. Try it free for thirty days and get a free ten pound scale when you visit p._b._a. Dot com slash b w daily in uh from one. I'm david brown and this is business warriors daily on this tuesday august twenty seventh we work the enormous us real estate company that made its name renting co working space to startups filed paperwork for its i._p._o. Earlier this month in could go public in september that i._p._o. Has been eagerly anticipated but the perspective has drawn confusion instead. It's filled with contradictions and some downright weird stuff stuff so odd in fact that inspired bloomberg op ed writer shiro vide to write one of the best leads recent business journalism history and i quote i get paid to write words for a living and i am nearly at a loss for words about we work companies. She said now let me try to explain lovie days. Speechlessness snus adam newman founded the company in twenty ten with a vow to transform the way we work he wouldn't just rent office space to freelancers lancer and creatives he'd make beautiful and above all communal after all the growing hordes of independent workers are lonely. Newman's concept could solve not just the need for affordable physical space but a more existential problem as well in two thousand ten newman's company had two locations in new york and four hundred fifty tenants whom we work calls members by the way we works parent company changed. Its name to the week company earlier this year today. Only only nine years later we work claims five hundred twenty eight locations in one hundred eleven cities around the world and five hundred twenty seven thousand members. That's a lot of numbers and we're not even going to try to do the math to figure out the percentage growth. Let's just say it's insane and that we work claims to be the largest private holder of office space. Yes in manhattan london and washington d._c. But it's losses are also enormous its biggest investor japanese tech giant softbank values the we company at close to fifty billion dollars but it lost nine hundred million on revenues of one point five billion in the first half of this year alone. The company is also obligated. You pay close to fifty billion dollars for long-term offices around the globe over the next ten to fifteen years. "All right well there was that so now we're back so jack catches a couple strawberries and he's like we gotta keep on this plan to back door. Semi Final Score Christie Tent Jack Ten cliff zero can't zero Nicole zero and there's a little bit of build up to Sam's last person and how did he do twenty one and he's very excited. He's in the confession room and he's like I'm so excited. I can't even week that so nick and Jack are trying to get <hes> Sam to take cliff off of lock and their whole angle is you're like man that poor guy just needs a break. You know he's really been thrown under the bus his whole season and cliffs like you're right Erin. I gotTA take them off. He doesn't deserve it. He's a dad is like me so <hes> Nick and Jack doing a good job there then we're up in the room and Mickey's like we can't get cocky. Here's the order for the next few weeks away. I think it might be <hes> the Jason Mimosa who says the order next few weeks Kimmy Jessica and then Lovie Chemi is reason is she gained too hard too early says the guy in the Personal Lions Jessica has potential to win an accom- that's his reason for getting rid of her lovie. He's just too smart now. Here's an interesting thing on the last episode the <hes> the order that they wanted to get them out in was cat Cami Jess Nicole cliff lovie Sam to lovie was way farther down the list but in a span of a couple of days he has moved up to number three with a bullet <hes> <hes> now Kristie is super bent. She is not happy because she doesn't like the Jack is he's running the show. He thinks he is at least right. He's dominating the planning. He's telling everybody what they're supposed to do. And there's a ton of of crying going on with her. In a second here we go out to bill and nick who seem to be developing a little friendship there in the hammock outside and they're kinda scheming and Bellas really kind of lane and she's like. I think we should keep coming. I really feel like we should keep coming. I like Kenny Kenny Smyth POW. She hasn't done anything. There's no reason for me to go home and we'll see what we can do. So nick goes up to kind of petition to Kemp to <hes> he goes to Christie to try to keep him in the game and Christie is eating. I think it's cereal so loud like mouth open crunch crunch. You do have a microphone before on you so I understand. It's going to pick up some noise but keep them out shot. It's it was it was it was tough for me to watch all right and I want to hear he creeps me out. I discovered and then Christie after nick has on tour trying to keep the Kimmy and she starts to freak out visas this where the tears come in and Jack's like stick with your heart he true to your word and Christie's not enjoying any of this because he's trying to peer pressure. He's trying to manipulate relate earned it sending kimmy home and well. There's really no reason to send cameo <hes>. She's not a threat at this point in the game. She's by herself like I don't. I don't like it. I don't like the optics I don't know why we're ascending Kimmy <hes> but so then Christie starts crying and she's talking to Tommy and she's like it's too soon back door kimmy to back door anyone. That's going to put too much blood on my hands. That's GonNa get me sent home. Mom doesn't want Sammy's veto at all and how can we get them to not use it and then Nicole comes in and Christie's still crying and she's like Oh. That's why she tells to Christie tells <hes> that comes in a second so Christie she tells the coal that she's while still crying. I don't know what to do. Checks manipulating everyone and Nicole's like trying to comfort her makerfield better but her little cut away line was mostly interest Sante which I feel like is amazing amazing thing to say because essentially Christie is saying hey there's this big group of people. Jack is running the show right now so there's information being given out and then Christie still crime goes to Sam and the locked H H tweets room she makes a big deal that it is a locked room and she spills the beans <hes> to Sam on Jack. The Jack is running the whole show and he wants to back door kimmy and Sam's like what what and so then <hes> Christie's like. I don't know Oh you know. Maybe we have to put up Jack. Maybe that's something and Sam was. He could see he was just like. Do you think we have enough votes to get rid of Jack. That would be an amazing move. Get rid of him. Get him out of the House. It's a completely different house gray. uh-huh and then somehow obese name comes up and Christie's like well no but you know he's smart. He's playing seems like he's playing with everyone <hes> and you know and playing at the same time so maybe we just put over here aw and I was like I wrote it on CASS. I wrote Ono not lovie. 'CAUSE I like lovie. Slice go to veto meeting. Sam Uses it on cliff takes off the block cliff is now safe and then Lo and behold lovie goes up you know and she throws out the whole. You know it's it's not I you know I love you lovie type of thing but he's like cool. I'm on the block route. Glad you love me. I'm on the block. He also says you know in the confessional. This stinks I'm up here basically first week I can't even use the nightmare power that I got it supposed to keep me safe the first six weeks and he can't which is just frustrating them by imagine and then it flashes over to Jack and he's like come on Christy. We've really got to work on our communication skills chills. If something like this happens again. I don't know I don't know and insist like Bro. Chill with the bro all right Bro. You're brown a little too bro and Bro. put the Bro a put in the bro Cabinet putting the laws and just bro- broke down a little bit and it's an interesting initially when I first came into this season and it may turn out to be this way but I thought that Mickey Jackson Jackson was going to be playing the part that Jack is actually playing and I thought Jack seem like he was gonna be a little bit more low quieter and stuff but oh I was so wrong so very wrong all right. If you <hes> wait a minute what's what's this. We have a message. Let's see what it is. I didn't even know about this. Hold on one second. Oh Yeah Hey this is me leaving a message for <hes> me just to see how this whole thing works. Keep up the good work. You're you're doing a great job. I want you to know.

"Do it so lovie cat cliff Nicole Bella Bella is the only one from the grateful grateful alliance. WHO's in this in this competition so she feels like she needs to win it to prove herself so the show have whatever secret prize Nazi price secret power is on up for grabs terms and we have clift and cat who in theory are both going to be on the blocks? They both feel real need to win this thing to hopefully help their games out. The competition is terrible. It looks horrible. There's three trash nice cans and in each bad smell on the wall is a list of different smells. So what happens. Is You have to run out into the yard and smell. All these terrible smells so that's like Fox urine <hes> Bob Bob cat urine potatoes that have gone rotten spoiled eggs bad tuna tuna shrimp like all kinds of nasty gnarly stuff and so you have to go in and then you have to match what's what's in each can based on what you smell outside so people are running in running out and then they have it's interesting to have like a little thing pepper next to each in in their room so they do the bad smell and smell the pepper and I guess that's supposed to a clear your ear nose which I didn't know that said I feel like I learned something on a brother. <hes> one of the smells was during which is a fruit which is supposed to be horrific and I only know about it because it was on top chef last year and just seems like it's a very unpleasant thing to have smell. They went through three different rounds where nobody got the answer correct so it's basically like everybody answers tingling. Nobody got it right round to cliff actually would have had it because he fixed his first one but he changed is a second one out to the wrong thing so so he had two and three right and he fixed one and then he teams to fun fact about cliff when he was growing up he had a pet skunk named Oreo puts his amazing to me. I used to have a catenary Morio orients. I feel like now I'm rooting for cliff a lot more than I used to. Which is the strange place to be? <hes> after the third round lovie wins Lovie wins and he's very excited. He decided to keep a cool. Keep it. A secret and cliff feels. There's more vulnerable cat doesn't know what's going to happen so the power that Lovie wins is the H. O. H.. He gets to turn the An and h h rain into a nightmare because it was a nightmare com. What it means is after the nomination ceremony he is swick everyone up in the house and then four C. H.? To immediately pick to new nominees the original to nominees are safe for that week and in theory known in the House knows who played the power so that's kind of cool when it's for the first six nomination ceremonies which is that's a lot of the game right there right. That's going to get you pretty far so his play is if he ever gets nominated and it doesn't feel safe to use that power can himself safe for that week and to obviously not tell anybody that he has in there in the bathroom and Bella is talking to cliff and she kind it calls lovie over and you know they're like what did you guess. What did you pick? I don't know I was confused with the Fox urine the Bob Cat urine and you know I just and then <hes> caq comes over and I don't it's it's tough from the edit but it feels like lovie is not a great liar. I don't know it just feels like I don't know it seemed like Bella may be kind of game will side I like maybe I know that you know that I know some things. But I don't know so after that conversation lovie goes up to the H. Room and in the Lisa's up there with Christie and Jack and Mickey he's like guys I heard about you. There's this aid alliance. That nick was talking about with Tommy so I feel like we would be good crew to work together and you know Mickey's like this is so grazie because he's talking about this eight alliance science and half of the lines here talking to him about the alliance but he doesn't know and they they have they have to play the game so they kind of you know coddle to him a little bit and say yeah yeah man we got two weeks. We should work together. This'll be a good team and so they form a new alliance called the Fab Five. There's only five of them is not even eight two. They don't even have numbers with this and it's just really awkward and after he leaves everybody's like it's happening right now. This is crazy he came to us and then next Kenny comes up and so she's talking to <hes> Christie and Jack and she's like. I don't know if I trust lovie. I think that maybe he's a little he's got. He's kind of everywhere. He's all over. The place like scheming don't trust scheming but she never says we should work together. She never offers up being in the lions and then it's the most frustrating thing because Jack does the thing where he's like. Who does she thinks she is coming up to us? We're not even working with her and throwing people's names under the bus in Christmas like yeah. That's super shape like who is she. You know play the game. Maybe she didn't play exactly what you want to but like she's doing what she's supposed to do. Just not as slick maybe and also it's not fair because it's perception because those eight people they kind of formed into an alliance and maybe you know this is how lovie things he needs to get doing alliance with you which which he thinks he is but he's not and how kimmy thinks she needs to get to align. She thinks you're gonNA work together Mu. She doesn't feel like machines to overtly say we should be on the lines. She's just things like hey. I'm giving you information near the H.. H Do what you will. You know good job in your H.. Week so you know I think it's just a bit bit hypocritical coming from Jack them to be honest we go to the nomination ceremony and <hes> as advertised we know she talked to him and cliff goes up that was we knew that was happening. The second one was a little bit. We kind of by the editing you didn't really know what was going to happen and she calls up cat kind of you know just looks and Chrissy comes across pretty fake to me <hes> she had all these tears and it was hard for her and say this and it's hard for me to do this and this first week and it's not based on anything it's game and whatever and it's one weird thing I noticed I don't not pretend to but jess was actually wiping tears away from her eyes so I don't know if she has a relationship with cat or not but that was just something they kind of flashed by on the screen and is there walking away cat kind earth. Does that voice everything. She's like listen. No one knows what I'm capable of. I'm a savage that means necessarily but you know I guess she's got some Pike in our so. We'll see what happens. <hes> oh so is little feedback from the Pike as people told me that I it's more of a recap which it is. I don't really do feeds so much. I do read some stuff on twitter <hes> but it's hard hard for me to figure out where it happens in the span of the timeline of episodes so for the most part I'm just talking about episodes. I think maybe at some points I'll find other stuff that pertains. I'll talk about that too. I do want people to call in. I'M GONNA set up a twitter account and I want people to go to that. I think it's other big brother fingered out but so I'm gonNA put all the episodes there and I'll start Aquino tweeting a little bit more that may or interaction because it'd be super cool but right now. It's a nomination episode. It's the first one not a super lot of exciting stuff. It's funny when they're setting up for the <hes> WACK Tober fest whatever it's called the this so many people there's like a it feels like there's a thousand people and I'm just like how many there's too many I mean I know that's the structure into the game but it's hard to cover all the storylines and all the bases because so many people but I'm going to do my best just for you just to keep making that penny but anyway <hes> hopefully next time we'll be on those other podcasts platforms and that can really..

"And I just the smuggling going on, there is a good sign for Lovie, Lovie did join that conversation. The trim after most of it had gone down. There's apparently a fake final five with Lovie included in one of them. As I mentioned, the women are going to talk about Lovie a little bit after he leaves. That's when they say, oh, he did. Well today. So I feel like he's falling a little bit on the target list. You know, there's so many things going on that the only person that's like, really actively targeting Lovie, right now is Nick and Sam to some degree, and Jack would probably maybe target him. But, but a lot of people are going after Jess, I is particularly Jackson and his crew. And then, of course, there are there are all of these cracks in this foundation of the alliance. If Nick and Bella catch wind that they are on the which I imagine Nick will catch onto because he seems to be competent enough, I think, to, to recognize that that's happening. Then we'll hopefully get some kind of war going on. There's definitely still enough people for Nick and Bella and Sam, if they are really firmly on the outs to start forging some kind of counter, you know, some kind of resistance, if they pick up people like Nicole, and Jess and tried to get the vote for Chemi to stay. It's possible. The problem is, I think Chemi in that situation needs Lovie vote, and that relationship has soured because of apparently some of the things that have said about Lovie. So we'll we'll see. We'll see. But. Lots of lots of stuff going on here. Carly wants Nicole doing anything. That mattered not particularly Nicole is definitely the most low key person really in the in the cast so far. It seemed like she was trying to suck up to the major group. But I'm not sure that's really even the case anymore. She's mostly just hanging out and trying not to be noticed is my read on that situation. Her five believe her father, had a birthday today. And she made a cute little message to him. So that was that was fun. Let's see here. Does Lovie in cliff do do have a final to deal? I think that they had a bond, and I think that cliff has kind of walked that back a little bit because he doesn't want to be dragged down by Lovie..

"Well, okay. I was just talking about this. You see what was when I was in college. I went to Xavier university in Cincinnati. And that was exactly when my brother was at Lovie w in Kentucky, so very close to each other. So I would go how wrestling was conduct IRS. Cincinnati airport is in Kentucky. I know that. So. Yeah. The bone to pick with that. I don't really care what it's just like. Well, why how? So I would drive to Lovie w to watching wrestling Wednesdays and sometimes Saturdays, and I was very into the sketch comedy improv thing in college, and I was spending summers in Chicago. I o and second city classes. Yeah. So finishing school. I was like, I guess I'm gonna move just keep doing this. But then the more I would go visit him and see what he was up to. And then he was an F CW in Florida. I went to visit their met with all the coaches and Georgia, right which. Importantly, go. Exactly, cuba. It was like on my mind to like me. I should be should be wrestling after school. What am I it was a little four can the road only in my brain, you know, and I decided I'm gonna move Chicago pursue comedy like the week. I got there. It was like this is the raw move. You should not be here you should be wrestling somewhere. So Nick would come wrestle at the AllState arena, Chicago. Yeah. Yeah. And we would meet up like dude, I gotta get outta wrestling somewhere. I gotta learn trying to find a school in Chicago. And in most cities there is some kind of school training center. But yeah, this is the same for Cleveland at the time. I might be better now. But it's like, maybe the trainers gonna show up. Maybe you'll have a couple people to work with maybe the trainers just gonna wanna talk for two hours. How he never made it and. Shit here, which Owens talk about Jacques rougeau. I wonder just after my day job goes show up at like nine or ten at night ready to train and then have the guy being hourly. And then just be like, well, we're not really gonna take bumps today because you don't need to like, I do need to I need to learn how you don't need to learn to learn all of this. I didn't need to know how to tuck by chin, and he's another talk much in so used to railroad. Who's in the Viking, whatever Viking experience. What's amazing amazingly? Terrible name. Well, so he was from Cleveland. He was Nick nice to see him wrestle all the time. He was like my age. But in highschool is still in the Sweetland Albro shows. Yeah, he's Jack now. So I was pretty good buddies with him. And I said do can I just get like the key to or the ring is and can Nick Knight just go up there. So he trusted me gave me the key and Nikolai when he was off. So it'd be like a Wednesday would be in Cleveland off of work, and we would go there to the fantasy nightclub which was ph fans. Who unlock the place? I think it was pretty haunted. I don't know what your feelings aren't goes for this place. So spooky man, and we go to who teach me on a hit the ropes out of lockup do simple oil chain wrestling, how to take bombs, blah, blah, blah. And then when he was not around the spirit squad picked up. He started get really busy. So I would just go in there alone and run the ropes and take flat back bumps and like I would stand up sometimes it'd be like see something move somewhere. This giant like old timey? I think it's probably one hundred years old. It's the bands come in play there. And they wrestling shows put it so spooky at night. And I would hear people walking up the stairs or running up the stairs..

And what it Reardon do. Oh, he went bonkers. Everybody went bankers because they call it. No goal. Everybody went nuts. And then the Carolina scored a minute later to make it for two. So did I like throw a giant salmon on the ice or anything? I didn't see any salmon, but Lovie left the ice without a minute left. They threw on. What are they throw is it in nationally through catfish? Yes, they do do that as a catfish this. They throw catfish there. Those things are kinda gross. They've evolved the beak to replace it in. It's more of a cropping the that you would like you see in some tortoises anyway, Lovie raptor, Soares have been been discovered in in beautiful fossil deposits over in China where you got the the fossils ation of some soft parts of the feathers themselves, and the weird thing that they've got going on is on the very tip of their tail. "Today's episode is brought to you by smart water twenty years ago. Smart water, reimagined, what water could be from thoughtful bottle designed to supporting smart people who are changing our world through fresh thinking. Like, you smart water has added electrolytes for taste and great tasting water helps you stay hydrated, feeling refreshed and ready to take on your day. Refresh yourself with smart water. Welcome to brain stuff from how stuff works. Hey, brain stuff. I'm Lauren vocal bomb. And if you wander the protas, I'll at your local grocery store, you'll find a dazzling variety of tomatoes from Charrier grape shaped to massive beef steaks and gnarly heirlooms same with squash potatoes, cucumbers and leafy greens. This bounty of diverse colors shapes and sizes isn't the result of natural selection. But rather human selection over millennia farmers and plant breeders have spotted useful mutations and fruits and vegetables, tastier fruit. Better yields novel shapes and preserved those traits through conventional breeding techniques the process is slow. But if you cross different strains enough times eventually you may create something new enough and marketable enough to be called its own variety. That's low and steady. Conventional breeding process is about to get a big boost from advances in genetic mapping with a tomato or cucumber genome in hand plant breeders, don't have to wait months for tomato plant to bear fruit to know, whether the tomatoes will be pear shaped or round. Instead, they can look for telltale markers and a seedlings DNA the code for specific fruit shape, size and color this technique of marker assisted selection promises to cut years off the traditional plant breeding process. One Esther vendor nap is at the forefront of genetic research into exactly how a plans DNA instructs fruit to grow long and lean like a hothouse cucumber or round and squat like a beefsteak tomato in her lab at the university of Georgia post, docs and undergraduates sliced tomatoes in half in place them on a flatbed scanner to measure the precise shapes and sizes produced by different genetic combinations. In a paper published in November of two thousand eighteen in the journal nature communications Vander nab announced the discovery of two. Families of genes that appear to play key roles and making fruits and vegetables, either round or long fruits and vegetables are technically plants edible organs and those organs grow and develop through cell division. She explained to make a certain shape like a long around shape, you need to have certain patterns of cell division. Either the cells divide horizontally, or they divide vertically, which makes sense the more Oregon cells divide horizontally by splitting down the middle. The more. They're going to build up tissue horizontally, creating a fatter rounder fruit. What Vander nap and her colleagues discovered in the tomato. Genome is a specific gene called ov- eight that appears to be responsible for creating proteins that tell cells to divide in a vertical pattern when more cells split side side, the growth pattern produces at en- long gated fruit. Ov- eight is the difference between a perfectly round cherry tomato and an oblong Plum tomato. Wild tomatoes, like the native varieties found in Peru. Ecuador and Mexico are invariably small and round says Vander nap which means pear shaped and other in long gated tomatoes are mutations that came along later as far back as the nineteen thirties. Plant biologists called the long Gatien mutation ov- eight but had no clue about the actual genetic mechanism behind it. But van nap and her team identified the ovation protein as well as another family of proteins called TRM's that interact with Lovie, and it provides another tool to plant breeders who are using marker assisted selection, if the ov- eight N, T R and markers are present. You can be sure the fruit will be in long gated if one or the other is missing. It's backed round evanger, nap says this will speed up the breeding process and let growers focus on trickier traits. Like yield and pest resistance that aren't as easily linked back to one or two specific genes. So now the question is do these advances in plant genetics mean that your produce Iowa soon include square tomatoes? Or pyramid-shaped pumpkins not likely says Vanja nap, but not because it's technically impossible. She says there are tons of bizarre mutations in the tomato. Genome that result in odds looking fruits and since those mutations are naturally occurring. They could be isolated and replicated in the lab, but the problem was square, tomatoes and other oddball. Shaped fruit is twofold. Internet says first there's the GMO problem if plant breeders use, gene editing to directly tweak or replace genes in food plants. Those strains are considered GMO and some people get freaked out by the GMO label, even though genetically modified organisms as category are no less or more safe than conventionally modified organisms. Second exciting new fruit and vegetable shapes may not shape up in other ways of Android apps said some mutations are so bizarre. That no grower would grow them because they have lots of other problems. They only have a few fruit per plant or they taste terrible. Because when you grow fruit in a really odd shape. You mess up the hormone balance, it may not be very juicy or tasty at all. If you really want to grow a square tomato says Vanja up just put a box round it like you may have seen done with other fruit. Like watermelons should those hit the scene at a premium price? You can always tried growing your own at home. There are plenty of instructions online for building your own square fruit boxes. Only if you want it could be a third of a black hole. Now, I want I just like I'm now so desperate for our tour. Lovie doll and Kevin prince boa tank to be playing at the same time and for Barcelona to leave ticky taco behind and to just have this be just an utter cage match like brawl out in the streets. Any of it? I mean terrifying. They have the greatest mohawk and the greatest Beijing hair of all together. It would be. Unstoppable. No one's. I mean, frankly, I don't even know what Kevin prince Boateng looking like right now. Imagine this being like fat Rinaldo back in the day when he shows up to things and you're like, oh, no. Imagine if up to Barscelona training camp in there like. Are you Kevin principal? He's. You know that Italian food does well by me. All right. How you feel in Leone the first to dethrone PS g in terms of a loss. Not by actually surpassing them in the league. No, in fact, Leone still sit third Barcelona's playing pretty well. How you hyphen about this matchup? On a still all the way, we own don't really much of a chance here. I don't think I hope Kevin prince boating where short shorts and we can get like a Kevin prince boa Tang short short blast off. The it's hard to see Barcelona taking taking the cake on this one despite Leone they while they played some exciting offensive football in the in the group stage. They were let's say a little porous at in the defense. And I don't think that's going to work very well against Barcelona. Agreed. There you go. All right. Sorry on. But hey, you never know that might be a goal fest onto itself, you never know. Yeah. You'd never know. Never pool against Byron Munich Liverpool. Just as of today day there. We're recording have fallen into second place. Manchester City have surpassed them by beating Everton. Although they have a Liverpool have a game in hand. Things are looking a little shaky for Liverpool, but still good buying Munich on the other hand who knows what kind of nonsense. They're up to because they are afar. Cry from the dominant force they've been in years past. Yeah. I see I see Liverpool. Doubling their efforts to win the league. Focusing on that at the sacrifice of all other competitions. It's been so many years since Liverpool one that merely so many. I can't even remember the last time they won the Premier League. It's been so long ago. Yeah. And the, you know, every time they come close. They give it away. You know, when we would all bring up the Gerard slip clip that is just one of my guilty pleasures when I'm having a bad day. Just watch him. And over the title with his what loser. Anyway. You wonder who this year's, you know, who's going to who's going to have the slip this year wall? It going to be Virgil Van Dyke like just tripping over zone beat to give up the title losing goal. It would be quite appropriate. If it were Van Dyke, although Jordan Hendry, Jordan Henderson seems like the type to kind of really inherit that mantel of Kiessling master. But it would be quite poetic if it were like. And, you know, Byron haven't looked great. But I think that again, it's one of those day they have to say they'd been here before 'cause Liverpool before last year. They were in the. Washer there in the championship funnel. You know? They they know what. They what they need to do. But I just their squad is on a little injury issues recently than nowadays that the second they'd kind of realize they need to regain their form. Russia and Japan at odds over seven-decade-old Kuril Islands dispute

"The leaders of Russia and Japan are in high stakes Tokes in most today as tensions rise of series of disputed islands. The diplomatic row has worsened in recent weeks of the Russia furiously accused Japan of refusing to accept the consequences Lovie, second world, warm in a moment. The Russia analyst Stephen DL will share his insides, but first Monaco's Asia editor at large Kenji whole joins us on the line from Tokyo bureau Kenji this row was partly renewed of Shinzo Abe's New Year's Eve address. What was it that ignited the tensions? Yeah. You're absolutely right about that office spoke in his new year speech about the need to help Russian residents on these four disputed islands. Accept and understand that the sovereignty of their homes will change obviously that didn't go well down don't down well in Russia Moscow, summoned the Japanese ambassador's protests and Russia has also complained about a Japan's official maps which show the four krill islands inside Japan's borders, the Russian side seems unwilling to part with any of the islands. What's the what's the end goal here? As far as Japan is concerned yet. So Japan says that the at the time the Soviet Union illegally seized the four islands in nineteen forty five. And then kicked out the seventeen thousand Japanese residents there since the nineteen fifties took his position has been that it wants all four islands returned. And until there's progress on that agreement. Tokyo will not sign a peace treaty, which would. Formerly end World War Two hostilities with Russia. The biggest problem with these discussions is that both sides think of the islands as their own sovereign territory. And Russia doesn't really think of it as a territorial dispute at all. So you can't really have constructive constructive talks here about a compromise. When two signs of very different views about the most basic assumptions that said there are a couple of things that have raised hopes in Japan about a possible breakthrough. First of all, it was that Japan. Russia cooperated on joint economic development projects for the islands since two sixteen. They've even set up a billion dollar investment fund. And the second thing was just the meeting between Ave and Putin last November in Singapore. That's when the two leaders talked about what's called, the nineteen fifty-six joint declaration, and in that the Soviet Union agreed to hand over two of the four disputed islands that would be tan and Hubbell my Japanese. Knees to Japan after the two sides sign a peace treaty. Now. Just the fact that the nineteen fifty-six joint declaration came up suggests that abyss position is flexible that he might ask for two islands and hold osc. Hold off asking for the remaining two until later. But you know, it's not really clear what is clear is that are they really wants to break the deadlock and he wants to do. So by the time Japan hosts, the G twenty summit in all soccer in June. There's a parliamentary elections scheduled for the summer. So that's a factor as well. Kenji hole in Tokyo. Thanks for joining us. Now, Stephen yellow bring you in now here in the studio foreign policy adviser for the Russian president admitted that the meeting would not be easy clearly spirits have been high going into this from the outset they haven't in many ways, the last five years, we say in Russian politics have made this even more complicated issue than than it was as can you suggesting there have been times when better but curiously going to run to the other side Russia, and I've actually brought in shown to brought him my MAC because it's just recommend anyone who's interested in this store.

I'm like, aren't you bored? He's like, no, I'm not saying this. They just called by Wednesday. They're going up to the casino. Borgata, and you know that Sarah get away. But anyway, you know, and then we have clients that are on the other side. And they're like I love what I do. I want to work working as part of who I am. And I'm actually just reading this one of these New York bestseller books a man called over Lovie Lovie. And is all about this guy who's, you know, newly forced into retirement, and he's really grumpy, and he ends up not being so grumpy, but in the beginning, he is and it's because he was forced into retirement, and he's always talking to himself about he's like they tell me to enjoy it. He's like what? Now, I have to wake up and have no purpose, you know, and he's fixing lightbulbs and all this stuff, and it's really kind of sad and poignant in the beginning. Because it makes you think there are people when they retired there. Like, what am I gonna do? Now. You know, I love to work. I love to get up and feel like I'm a part of something. And I'm I'm doing something important. So we do get that as well. We get both sides, and we try to work together with with someone's schools. Whether that's to try to ca. Insult or do something like that or whether it's just a travel, and and relax. We really try to meet people where they are and aligned with their goals for retirement. And I think it's the people who really love what they really enjoy. What they do that kind of say retire. I'm never going to retire. You know, I love what I do. Why would I retire? And I can understand that. But even for me, I I'm not going to work forever. You know? I love what I do. But hopefully, I'm not working into my seventies. And everything I do want to retire. One point. I do want to call it quits and enjoy golf.

Xiaomi or do people when they upgrade they just look around and find the best deal in Europe is always being I picked the phone I want, and I go and get the best deal, which always struck me when I came here, which was the opposite. Big Tech’s Growth Comes With a Big Bill

"Says disappointing second quarter report raised a big alarm among investors Tuesday as the shares tumbled as much as fourteen percent their biggest drop in two years the results. Were seen as, a, specially, surprising because of Netflix is massive growth last year which showed no signs of slowing down but overall, big tech shrug off the news the NASDAQ one hundred. Index hitting a new record Tuesday and looking at the bigger picture you can see from this chart in the library large cap. Tech has easily outperformed the s. and p. five hundred in the last few years so, do net flicks is results signal that there should? Be more cautious going into this earnings season here all this answer that question we are joined, by Michael Pervez weeded and Cho's? Chief global strategist and our very own Bloomberg opinions share Lovie days. So Michael first of all should? The rest of the investment. Community be concerned about? Other big tech companies. Not living up. To expectations, over the next couple of weeks as they report Yeah Step back for a. Second you realize how important thing is to the tech sector and how important the tech sector of the overall market anyone needs to sort of care about how the performance is going to. Be I've been continuing to overweight tack for a few years now including this year for all sorts of. Reasons but having said that right now if you look at the FANG index market cap weighted basis it's actually, at a higher than it was. Back in late January before all the volatility. Erupted there and start prices not the index for the FANG is not quite as overextended above workings of poor. As it was back then but it is certainly up there so I think Regardless, of what you might think about. The individual companies It seems like right now for the earning season for the other, guys that are going to be coming later. This week it's really the stars up to pretty perfectly so. A lot, of caution is going. To be needed here but again longer term I would I would expect that any dip in Amazon and Facebook. And Google will be pretty aggressively bought well and share there's still a question, of whether net flicks is subscriber Bizet a speed bump or is it part of a longer term trend yet in the sleeping, was it wasn't just the weakness in the second, quarter, subscriber, numbers, networks also forecasting. Decline in third quarter subscriber numbers subscriber editions and. Look maybe the company is being conservative, with its forecasts seeing what happened. With its second quarter falling shy of its own guidance but it's interesting that you're talking about, sort of two soft quarters in a row for Netflix Which makes it a little bit harder to argue the blip scenario Now Michael we at an analyst at Bernstein. In a note saying crowded trains are typically already priced for. Perfection and as such socks don't react much to incremental positive news while negative news has a much more pronounced effect and we yet we've seen these stocks run up and up and up even in the midst of. Folic volatility around Facebook and. Controversy around the Cambridge Analytica data scandal? Even, Facebook has bounced back so what should investors be skeptical about look I think there's a fair amount of caution that's that's been coming, with this rally since the Facebook scandal erupted back. In late March and you, can see that in the, options market if you look at put call skew for the axe That actually has as way as much stronger than it is, for the put calls skew. For the SPX for example additionally if you just look at the the level of. NDA, x., volatility relative to fix it is in that spread is, in the top ten percent and it's been. That way for some time so what you're seeing here is that people are playing this recovering from the Facebook scandal that rally but they're they're they're going into it with a fair amount of protection which I think is healthy and may mean that whatever dips we get over. The next few weeks out. Of earning season are not quite as? Dramatic, here that side amidst the tech you for you if you take a closer look at the numbers of some of these companies evaluations, are still incredibly take a listen to rob are..
