"Beat Golden State in Dallas. Now they have 5 coming. Memphis, tomorrow, Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Minnesota Friday, big week for the wakers Sunday national television televised game against Golden State and then a week from Tuesday on TNT against Memphis again. We're going to find out a good Lakers are in the next week. They're at Memphis coming up this week. Okay. And I have learned Shannon Sharpe will not be there for that game. Positive about it. So on the 7th he might be air in LA. Get your cardigans ready for that Tuesday night or after the combine. We should all wear cardigans. I don't think I could swing that one. Bobble cardigan knight. Don't let the Lakers. The Lakers left for sure should do a shaded sharp cardigan bobblehead night to troll Memphis. Don't let them in. The Lakers in the tournament, fair warning. I think that's a safe warning. Fair warning, the sexy dude, they're two losses out of it. No. You can look way above that. If they go on a nice little run, stay healthy, let's see how everybody can start meshing together at darbon ham man. He can coach his ass off. Let's go. It's more interesting. I know a lot of there's a lot of Laker hate, more interesting, hands down when the Lakers are into mix and Lebrons in the mix and they're together in this mix. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks. Don't let them in. Western Conference. Now then. In advance of Todd mcshay calling shortly on our friend Adam Schefter reporting, something that is, it's all part of this mix, the mix that we saw, the minute lovey Smith bequeathed to his former team in Chicago as he went out the door in Houston, the first overall selection, because for whatever reason, he spit his last Texans breath right at the front office by winning a meaningless game costing the Texans the first overall selection. And thank you, lovey, because it's made this draft that much more interesting. And I mentioned here brockman threw it out there in an overreaction Monday. Then I mentioned here, and then asked to Justin Fields grill when he stopped by kindly to the rich eisen show at the Super Bowl. Are you ready to have your status as the starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears question? He said yes, then comes the avalanche of, well, general managers at the coming out of the senior bowl think that this. Trade from Chicago may just be Justin Fields, not the first overall pick. At some point, Bryce young is going to stop in to Chicago and CJ Stroud is going to stop in and you Chris said last week. Well, it's really Bryce young and I'm like, no, CJ Stroud is going to make a run. It's going to make a run and suddenly at some point it's going to be like, hey, this guy can spin it in this guy is right there with Bryce young, if not above, and Todd mcshay may tell us something differently in about 7 minutes time, but Bryce young's not throwing at the combine. CJ Stroud is, so he's going to have on Saturday on the on field drills on NFL network with Daniel Jeremiah, and yours truly in the booth. A clear runway. We'll let us be on the runway. The kid Richardson from Florida will be on the runway. But this is going to be a CJ Stroud, as you know, neck and neck with Bryce young conversation for the bears. And conversation for the league, if the bears are going to trade the pick because it should be Justin Fields as gig. He's proven it, and they can potentially get a kings ransom because if you look at the draft order, two teams in the same division are going for a quarterback this year and it's Houston and the team hosting the combine Indianapolis. You've got the Panthers in this mix. Can the Atlanta Falcons even be interested in something like that? Interesting. Well, the Raiders do. That's 7, 8 and 9. Todd mcshay has the Raiders going will levis of Kentucky. Yeah, they could wait right there and get him. I feel like. Adam Schefter saying the bears are open to trading this draft choice. And that know that they're leaning towards it or what have you and mentioned all those teams. It's on. It's on. It's combine week. It is on. You know what I have been saying. The bears need to make it seem like they're going to trade Justin Fields. It's entirely possible that period is over. I think it's going to go longer because at some point they will have Bryce youngin and they will have CJ Stroud in unless somebody comes at the combine after seeing Stroud on the field and in their interview room or seeing young in their interview room falling head over heels in love with this person. And wanting to front load right away, blowing away, godfather offering the Chicago Bears. Who say, we're done, I don't think, in my mind, the Raiders, falcons, and panthers are in

"I hear that. I don't hear that very often with white coaches. I hear that a lot with African Americans. Like, you know, he did an interview. Willie Randolph was former baseball player. I was told, you know, Willie just doesn't interview that well. Okay. After a while, you understand how to interview. You understand what the questions are, what they want when you go in there, but the fact that Eric Vienna may have to go to another team to prove that he can be a head coach at age 53. And I've said it before, not every coordinator deserves to be a head coach, or will be a good head coach. You might deserve, that's not fair. You might deserve it, but that doesn't mean you're good at it. I didn't think Charlie Weiss or Romeo Cornell were going to be good head coaches. They were good coordinators with the Patriots. I don't know if Josh McDaniels is a good head coach with the Raiders. But he was a good coordinator, a great coordinator with the Patriots. And Eric Vienna might not be a good head coach. But I think he deserves the opportunity to be a head coach. Jim Caldwell is another name. Jim Caldwell did a great job. Look at what he did in Detroit. Obviously what he did with the colts. He had a great team that he took over. Jim Caldwell is now Frank Reich's assistant coach in Carolina. He's not going to get a head coaching job again. What the Texans did with minority head coaches. Nobody wanted the job because they knew there were going to be sacrificial lambs. And that's what happened. Both of those coaches knew. I mean, lovey Smith ended up winning a game that they didn't want them to win. It's like, what are you doing? Well, he wants to win. He knows he's not going to keep the job. Once you get a little bit better, hey, now we're going to bring in somebody else. So that was the topic of conversation I had yesterday afternoon with somebody who works for the NFL. And I just said, you got to help me understand this glass ceiling that we have here. And we're going to give everybody an opportunity. All he doesn't interview that well. You know, he didn't get the credit. Whenever there was a great play in the Super Bowl, they always focused on Andy Reid. Like if there'd be something where mahomes did something and there was some kind of new formation they'd go to Andy Reid after the touchstone. When do they go to Eric B enemy? Like when there's a

"Ah, let's bring in our good buddy, Sean Salisbury, former NFL quarterback host of the Sean Salisbury show on sports talk 7 90 in Houston. Let me start with something that was just brought up again by a listener. Do you think Lamar Jackson's contract status has anything to do with his availability against the Bengals this weekend? I would hope not, Dan, because I'd go back to the pre season when he could have said I'm not showing up like we've seen guys do in the past and not play the regular season. Maybe it's sitting on the point where the frustration started to build and a teammate of his and roquan Smith got paid. Maybe it all did the cumulative effect, Dan. But I'd like to think and I'm going to give Lamar more credit than that to think that if considering legacy and on the line that he and his replaces, people don't talk about, but him and thinking about it with a chance to do something he hasn't done and get to a Super Bowl. I think he'd like to do it. I'm in the back of his mind. You don't want to get hurt, but I think he would have done it at the beginning, not the end. I think that he's probably just not fit and ready to play. You, of course, cover the Texans. They lost the number one pick. And we were wondering, in the moment, if you get the touchdown, now it's a fourth and 20. And you're going to go for a two point conversion. You're going to lose the number one overall pick. Now lovey Smith is trying to save his job and Davis mills is trying to save his job as the starting quarterback. I understand all those things. But if your management could you have somehow got a message down to say, let's run an elaborate two point conversion that we know might not succeed so we can get the number one number one pick there. Well, a lot of spread it out of the press box is a general manager and I knocked his ass out before he made the play call. That's what I had done. Dan, is there such thing as a crappy win that was it? Now. Of course. No doubt about it. Because number one is levy Smith wasn't saving his job. I guarantee you they knew going into that that he wasn't coming back because they didn't just wake up after the game said. I think we'll fire him. They knew going in that no matter what, even if they had a one by 40 Dan, he wasn't going to keep this job. So yeah, I would have said, first off, Davis mills, yeah, we want you to I know we want to showcase you, but I think we're going to run the inside zone read with Jeff Driscoll the whole game. That's how you control it 'cause you know, Dan, players and coaches are like, even if you know you're not gonna get fired or are, you're like, screw that. I'm gonna leave it all on the table and so are the players. Davis mills doesn't want you drafted Bryce young, or CJ Stroud. So, of course, they're gonna play it. Now, I gotta tell you, it sure as heck also look like the colts. I mean, when you jump up and the ball goes through your hands and you're going like that and completely missing, it's like, come on, get a stop on two, 4000. But yeah, I would have created it in the week leading up to it.

Yeah, Sean great news as he has been released from the hospital in Cincinnati and traveling back to buffalo where he will continue his recovery. He's been walking around since Friday and doctors interesting story about when he was watching the game yesterday. That's a game on yesterday. When the opening kick-off was run back, he jumped up and down, got out of his chair. I think every alarm off in the ICU in the process, but he was fine. It was just appropriate reaction to very exciting play. So he very much enjoyed it and enjoys the support from everyone. Yeah, it definitely enjoyed it. And that is good news that he was able to jump around probably not at the moment. The alarms are going off in the office there, but that is good news. "So in theory, if they can build a juggernaut, I'm not sure that that's a much weaker division, but go ahead. There you go, but I guess the thing I would say is, you know, you have Justin Herbert in that division who looks like he's going to be one of the four or 5 quarterbacks that really matter. You're going to have to explain him twice a year. It's going to be hard to be the team that's always the number one seed. Which is really if we're really asking you is going to make more RC championships. It's a chance to get to once again more often. Who's going to basically beat the algorithm and how it can get the one seed in enough times more than the other team that they have the advantage to get there. I just think mahomes is better. I also think that the way that they built this team, this off season with the tyrese trade, they're setting it up for the next ten years. The whole point was that this was supposed to be something they're building for the future. That was the rationale that I came up with after my emotional response was we've seen Patrick Mahomes and the chiefs remade post big contract post Tyree kill and still have success. We've yet to see that out of Cincinnati, but you gave me another argument is the division. While you say the AFC north is easier, nah, we got the chiefs in the ravens. I was giving out the chiefs. Steelers in the ravens. They're never bad. I don't know what suggests to you that they're just going to be trashed for the next ten years. Whereas that other division, the Broncos can't get right. And I don't know what's up with the Chargers curse. And the Raiders like, yeah, I like, I'm feeling better about my cheese stick. All right, what's the next one? Okay, and then I will say interesting before this year, I would have actually said Josh Allen in the box or in the bills because I was like patriots are down the jets of the jets and the dolphins with dolphins down. Jets have something going. The dolphins have something going and we'll see what the Patriots. Next thing I got. This is my homestead. So they're playing the Texans and I don't want their 14 point favorites. I think that's impossible to bet. But I do want to bet their team total at over 30.5. After last week, I just feel like they're going to run it up on this Texans team. Yeah. I like that. I like that as a bet. Yeah, you can't bet that they got a win by two touchdowns. That's just disrespectful. Lovey Smith is going to, I mean, they put

"Big bummer. I mean, maybe Millwall, maybe Milwaukee whole city is cool. I don't know. Millwall was like the bad guys in that in the soccer movie with, oh gosh, The Lord of the Rings guy, you know, I'm talking about. The hooligan movie. Is that what you're talking about? Green street hooligans. Yeah. You ever watch green street hooligans? No, I remember the trailer though. Yeah. Is it Elijah Wood? Elijah Wood, yeah. Yeah, yeah, and he was like a West Ham, he got turned into like a West Ham guy and they were just like fighting everybody every week and then but Millwall was the one where like someone died during the fight and then they played again. And everyone got all jazzed up. I think something happened. Something bad happened to somebody. But anyway. Nothing nearly that exciting happened in saints Panthers. To the point where I watched the, I think it's on Fox, right? They have the roundup of all the coaches victory speeches afterwards. And some of them are really good. And then Matt rules just like, he just starts talking and then they show a graphic underneath them that was just like the Panthers. This is their first win in 11 weeks or something like that. And you're just like, if you're in that locker room, you're just like, what are we doing? I don't know how the saints couldn't score any points, but that's what happens sometimes. Yeah. Well, you're hoping you can break through and get into that lion's Vikings battle for the 7th seed. You just, you gotta get, you gotta get promoted up into the Premier League. You can't be down there with Millwall, Millwall and whole city. Is that it? Whole city, there's a team called Watford, Wigan Wigan athletic, and west West Bromwich, Albion. Yeah. They have like a nice, they have like a very docile bird looking mascot. It's actually very peaceful. So I think they're gonna be, if anyone else is listening from overseas, tell us more about West Bromwich Albion. Texans bears. So lovey Smith comes up short in his return to Chicago here. Though he was probably there with the bucks at some point, right? This was in like a big return. I mean, it doesn't have the juice of Doug Peterson go to the eagles next week. No. Is that happening? Yeah, man. Oh, that's pretty good. All right, well that'll spice up the lightning round. Getting to talk about next week's action. Look, the bears found a way to win another one. They're sending two in one now that I think that's a pretty impressive accomplishment by Matt eberflus and his group. You just wish there was something more for Justin Fields at this point. It's just a bummer watching him sort of run around and have to create something out of nothing and look, that's hard to do in the NFL.

"So maybe with the pads that help them last year. I still have 6 and 11. I don't like that draft that trevon walker. He wasn't anything for all the Georgia and Alabama players. You could have gotten. I think they missed there. That first game against Washington the Wentz revenge is fun. But three of their first four are on the road. So what revenge? What revenge is having? What revenge? Well, they crushed them, right? And week 17. I mean, he's not going to get revenge. Wets is going to get revenge on Washington fans and people are bet on them. I don't know. I think if they win that Washington game, you're in the clear with that over because they'll go 6 and ten the rest of the way. They have, they get to play both New York teams, they get to play Houston twice. 13 to 17 is Lions jets, Texas, winnable games, for sure. But I have them slightly under it. I would embed it, but I have it over, which is the first time I've been over with them in a couple years. And then as I've Houston over at four and a half. Right. Houston, there's been a lot of worse record action on them plus three 50. There are hundred to one the conference. They're playing the AFC west. There's a lot of reasons to not like them, but first of all, did you know they went four and 13 last year? Yeah. So can they what do you mean? Oh, you think, yeah. Can they come again? Pick one game up. People really like that. They're draft and some of the guys they brought in. I guess they have defenses like pretty good this year and the pre season. It wasn't like a Bill O'Brien type, right? They're kind of like shed that whole personality. And now they have lovey Smith. What do you think lovey smith's career record is? A 182 games. It's better than our guy Kyle Shanahan, isn't it? Is there an over 500? 92 and 90. Love you split this 92 tonight. I know. I thought he was pretty good at Chicago. Yeah, look, I think one O two quarterback rating last 5 starts with Davis mills, again, what are you going to do? He goes out, that's no good. I liked stingley. I like their giraffe picks. What about pierce? Pierce is looking like offensive rookie possibly. Yeah. Take some pressure off them. I think they can get to 5 wins. I did too. All right, so funny, we go under on Tennessee Indianapolis and we you went under on Jacksonville, I went over on Houston and Jackson. Well, they're definitely not going for. Colts are Titans in that division against these other teams. Would you, what would you give me on odds that we have no winning team in the AFC south that 8 and 9 wins the division? Yeah, could that be? I was thinking, would you say plus 300 on that? Maybe even less. Plus two 20? Yeah, well, if the overrun there's a 9 and a half, if one of them goes under ten and 7. Yeah, maybe two way, two, 8, 300, maybe. Be like if you had two 8 9 teams, a 7 and ten team and a 6 11 Texans that would be the past. Everybody else beefs up on them. AFC west, the most fun division to talk about. Really great. You watch any night game, right? It could be any of these four teams playing each other. Are the chiefs and chargers the two best teams in the league. In a league? Yeah. I like the Raiders. I have the Raiders one in the division, with 11. Wow. Really? I don't know what's going on in people's heads. What's going on in your head? Well, if you ask most football fans, who won that game the last week raiders are chargers. I think most people would say the charges. They didn't win that game. The Raiders won the game. And if car doesn't spike the ball and they lose it down there and they were, you know, 5 yards 6 yards away from going to overtime against the team that made it to the Super Bowl. And now they add Jones and they're doing great. You know, they extend car. They add Chandler Jones. There's a pressure guy. They had devonte Adams. I like this team a lot. Let's forget about the Gruden stuff. They had their present and quit on them. They had obviously the rugs thing was terrible. I think they're back on track. I have the fourth in the division. Do you really? They're over under his 8 and a half. There's 7 O one and when the division 7 and one, I've seen that since February. And that's what I was like, I have to take that. 6 or less wins plus two 70. Oh, come on. Best record in the league 60 to one. Ten plus wins plus one 50. No, the best record 6 three one. Oh, you're going. Ten plus wins plus one 50. Their ads are all over the place. I like this team. Here's what I don't like. Loaded with the playmakers. I have them at 9 elite players, including the kicker and the punter, who I think are both really good. But no offensive line. Their offensive line is a bottom 5 terrible offensive line. Okay, but

And so I actually pulled up the list that I was working off of last night. Lovey Smith was what Rex Grossman in that Super Bowl for sure this quarterback in the Super Bowl. I think it was for X Grossman. Tony dungy had Peyton Manning. Mike Tomlin had Ben Roethlisberger, Jim Caldwell had Matt Stafford. But then Romeo crennel, God knows who he had in Cleveland. I mean, all of them. It's just horrifying. Yeah. Just think back and look at her mad words with the jets. And the chief, so her Edwards had Chad Pennington and Vinny testaverde and then with the chiefs. Who had their moments? They had their bumps. Yeah, they had the moments with the chiefs, I believe it was brodie croyle. Wow. That's a pull. That's a deep pull. Leslie Frazier, who had Christian ponder and I believe that team was so bad at the quarterback position. That was you have Adrian Peterson just ran for like 9000 yards and they snuck in as a wild card in the playoffs and I think like Joe Webb had to start a game as like a quarterback but he was like a receiver hybrid at that point so yeah, I mean and Brian Flores who to a tongue of iloa and they pushed him out in part because he maybe recognized that he wasn't a good quarterback and he could not agree to sign Tom Brady on a yacht and so here we are. Which always wink and sign Tom Brady on a yacht. Like if you can do that if you're ever offered that opportunity. I would like to express my willingness to all 32 teams in the NFL that if you put me on a yacht, I will wink and nod sign Tom Brady for you. I'll agree to almost anything. If they took you, John and they walked you down to Marina del Rey, which is the only place I know in California because they used to have to stay there when I worked at NFL network. And there are boats there, so I can cross cross reference that factually. And they were like, you have to have Tom Brady on your podcast. You know, that's a no brainer. On a yacht. Yeah, absolutely. I would absolutely do that. Sign me up. Super devious. So Bruce Arians walks away having had, you know, he said that he had two full-time women on his coaching staff. One in a pipeline defensive coaching position, assistant defensive line coach. He had the most coaches of color on his staff in the NFL. And had the only staff, I believe, outside of the Lions last year. Where all of the top basically ten stakeholders were coaches of color. Now that Todd Bowles has taken over for Bruce Arians, it brings the total to 6. Coaches of color, which is more than double. I mean, you know, we had some lean years here recently. Do you think that and again, the number is not what we're looking for. I've heard coaches say this over and over again, right? It's opportunity. Do you think that this does anything to repair some of the damage that has been done over the last two or three years?.

NFL Says All Teams Must Add Minority Offensive Coach
"NFL is now requiring every team to have a minority coach in a key offensive role. According to the NFL, turns out that recently the head coaches in the NFL have come from the offensive side of the ball and there is in the view of the NFL and insufficient number of minorities occupying these kinds of positions. Aside from the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, there is one other black coach, his name is lovey Smith, Texans just hired him. And the dolphins hired a man named Mike mcdaniel, who is biracial, one of his parents, it's white, one of his parents is black. And the NFL has now an equity measure to require each team to have a minority assistant coach. In a significant role on its offensive staff.

They teach trigonometry. I don't know i take over. I don't know i. I don't think now have. How long has it been since you've been in highschool route. High school doesn't callous dot com. That's closer has been twenty years. Yeah i think he's going to do good. I think that a veteran presence is definitely needed. Back there oh yeah absolutely. We'll we'll get into that a little bit further when we talk about all twenty two footage in what i saw there got stanford. So molly knows her. Richard sherman trivia your colleges. I think he's a talented guy. You know it's not like he's out there going to get burned and everything when he was the forty niners. You know he. He wasn't at the top of his game. I felt what but we'll see. I mean he's companies. Playing with tom brady. He's playing with a super bowl team You know he's expected to be the missing piece. I guess you could say for the season due to our injuries in the secondary. So i'm thrilled to the have the guy i'm of this opinion. Lovey smith was one of the worst bringer. Her enters of free agency. People ever. I mean just like everybody he brought. It was absolutely dug up light on the other hand. It's just knocked it out of the park. We have we got gronkowski. We've got antonio brown. We got dominick conga sue. We have really done well in free agency. And i don't think that they're just pulling richard sherman out because he's you know the because who is his name recognition because he's the top rated free agent..

Probably around five eastern six eastern. We're going to be testing it all week. Testing something like just imagine. You're calling talk college football. But i'm i'm not announcing until world via twitter. I'm just using the roughnecks. Okay not not voicemails. It's live it's live. You'll be talking to me right so like a lot of people i think probably will obtain. They can call in and leave like no. It's straight live straight live. I just need test callers probably ten or twelve night. If it'd be wonderful if you liked call please be a part of this test. Six four six two nine one two four three seven jack tweed when it's go time on monday night tuesday night probably about five or six eastern that being said that his office announcement i'll move all all right nebraska illinois. Let's say we'll take the next three minutes and talk about this What do you think i mean like. Neither is anything to really get excited about right now but they feel like to two different sides of a coin where illinois is just starting their journey with a new coach and nebraska is wondering if the journey was ever were starting with their coach. I feel like there's the You're right there. I don't have two different sides of the coin. Is larry david to going in two different directions where they seemingly are. And that's why you know with zero. It is fun to watch. Because it's like we absolutely have no idea what bret bielema is gonna look like head coach back in the big ten scott frost under a live fire right now. I'm just excited to be honest to see bret bielema back in college football he makes illinois interesting to me. would watch the game no matter. What but now that he's coaching again. I mean he he could be a complete wildcard after what happened with him at arkansas. I we we don't know what he's going be. I don't know if scott frost is done in nebraska my gut says he's not done nebraska. My gut says they kind of turn around this year and and show a little life. Because i do believe in adrian martinez the quarterback as as my post hype sleeper. That i've talked about so much but that being said if he comes in two zero and loses to illinois bret bielema to open his foresees if he loses to illinois he might be done. Yeah you can't be able to come back from that. Yeah i obviously you know we talked about it. I think the last podcast about how weird it feels like in this time last year however would love scott frost in nebraska. And i know it's different leadership. And i know in the fans were just wanting football to be played in two thousand twenty but three hundred sixty five days later. It's like they're they are kind of doing like what you said brandon with the jerry Pruitt at tennessee thing like are they trying to find different things to like. Usher him out if he loses to. Bela mind weeks. Zero like you said on national. Tv the first team this season. Everyone's watching. I don't think you come back from that either. And i don't think his own. The field resumes enough to really get fire nebraska. I think they're they're doing thereby by not doing as well as i wanted to. But i think they're doing fine as long as they start turning around soon. But you hear the whispers. You hear everything that might be going around behind the scenes and they nebraskan scott. Frost just seem to be butting heads whereas bret bielema. He's got that first year honeymoon phase right like everything everything he does is funny to the illinois press every little thing he says is funny like he's he's entering that honeymoon vase and i don't know i just think bret bielema style takes a couple years to implement he's got to get those big ugly pug molly's upfront. He's got to get him some warhorse running backs we'll see what they got. I lean nebraska. Pretty pretty heavily here I think. Scott frost might be one of those guys. You put him in a corner. He fights back so we'll talk more about that next week and then we'll start transitioning to some other stuff right now. All right moving moving forward your one more thing. I was gonna ask you because we're talking about how he bill in the honeymoon phase. You know like. I think it was whenever they hired. Lovey smith was like five years ago. I think he had five seasons and everyone likes freaked out of. I was maybe like the savior of the program. Do you think bret bielema. Has that much pressure on him. That lovey smith did or do you think they're a little bit more like album. Lovey smith experiment. Went so poorly like we're going to give him a little bit. More grace period i to be honest. I don't think there's any pressure on bill here really. I think there's i think there's a curiosity with bela illinois. Where there can he recreate the magic. He had at wisconsin. I think they're chasing that. But i don't necessarily expect it because he failed at arkansas. Pretty spectacularly pretty fantastically but he has succeeded when he was a big ten coach. So i feel like they're chasing it and if in four years he doesn't find it and and they're still three eight. I think they move on no problem. Wash your hands i. I just don't see that. There's i don't see it as a natural pressure. Like brian. Harveson at auburn. He's under pressure. You know if he doesn't continue what they've been doing he's he's in trouble and they're already starting to whisper about him. Which is weird. Have you seen this by the one..

Yeah yeah he was on a practice squad last year and he goes super boring cool. That's cool. i liked. I liked him because he ended up going to the cardinals when ba was there after we got rid of it. He played with the cardinals for quite a few years. So lovey smith didn't exactly blow up the whole offensive line. Just two of five out of stem inland. Let's not forget. lovey smith. Getting rid of derail ribas to it. Replacing them with outtara verner. I forget all these guys you bring up. I like that guy. Screw how johnson wouldn't even worst. Yeah free agents. He was safeties coach for the buccaneers during his tenure. Here now he was arrested last year. September twenty twenty on multiple charges related the sex trafficking operating a prostitution ring. Now i looked all over for this. I couldn't find anything on this other than the initial stuff. I actually had to go to the court website. Pull up the minutes. Which marco county has an amazing court system. You actually up the court documents. The minutes really. Yeah so i got to read all what happened with Apparently he got probation. Oh yeah he was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to illegal control of enterprise and receive earnings of prostitution is a plea agreement. I got very alleged pin. Yeah yeah they dropped a bunch of other charges so that he would plead this and there wasn't any evidence presented at court. It was just pleadings back and forth. It was a lot it was live. Yeah now. We had talked about him blowing up the offensive line. I was incorrect. He did not blow up the whole offensive line. Just ninety percent of it. He kept the more datsun He got rid of donald penn march thirteenth. Who had played with the buccaneers for eight years. And so i- show respect to the men that i work with bringing that same energy By bringing same urgency as idols focus on. What's going on with me. I just looking to the is it a young man that i work with and as chasing dreams and and trying to make life better for themselves and their family in understanding that if we do our jobs and prepare them and set them up for is significant. There's nothing better than watching a guy you work with live out. His dreams mandate is secure financial security for himself and his family and change the course of generate of life for generations to come. We all been in it long enough now that we can see it in cold. You know Desk that's why we get down like that. That's why we that's why we bring it all on a day to day basis at work because we expect them guys who do the same thing. We want to honor them with urgency of work. That's why you see the response from both these guys. Peter that they get from their players consistently year in and year out. You can't fake that. And they feel it and i always say those who know no and the the players that are in the building working with these guys the coaches on a day-to-day basis. You can't fake it. They see it. And that's why these guys are As great at what they do and even better people and like i said ma'am appreciate you both taking the time guys mean a lot to me and can think of two better guys to wrap up. Houston QB Deshaun Watson's lawyer granted emergency hearings over women's ID
"The attorney for Texans quarterback to Shana Watson, calling out his client's accusers, demanding they go public with their identities to give Watson a chance to defend himself. Napolitano has those details. Sean Watson's attorney, Rusty Harden, was granted an emergency hearing by the Harris County District Court in Texas as he is now pushing for the release of the identities of 20 of 22 plaintiffs suing the Houston Texans quarterback claiming sexual assault. Misconduct. All but two accusers are using the pseudonym Jane Doe and Harden says the attorney behind those civil lawsuits. "He's in an impossible situation. And here he is talking about looking forward to coaching. Shawn Watson this fall. The only thing I knew about this whole situation at that point was is that I was been interviewed for this job to be the head coach, and I didn't know at that point. Shawn Watson's of Houston, Texas, and That's all that loud was concerned about, and all I know is this having been in this business long? He is a Houston, Texas, and I want him to be a Houston, Texas. And the reason I'm in this position today is because I knew he's going to be a Houston, Texas. The outside stuff that was been said wasn't around to me. Wow. Dude, Come on, man. I know you've been a coach in the NFL since the seventies. But are you serious? Look, David Kelly. Sounds like a guy that really doesn't have a grasp on what Star players do when they want to get traded. Okay? You had CAS Aerio and David Collie basically, throw down the hammer as I'm running this team. The on the head coach of this team. You're just a player. You're going to play because you're under contract. I took this job because you're going to be here and I have no interest in trading. You now is part of this a little bit of it. Well, we got to put on a show because we don't want teams. I think we're going to roll over and trading away for nothing like we're not just going to say OK, give us Sam Darling, we'll give you two Shawn Watson. That's part but this was more Hey, no, we're going to. We're going to show we're sick of being pushed around and bullying around. We're going to show you that we're the ones in charge, and I sigh and I say they're not the first and they're not going to the last team that thinks no, no, no. He's the player where the team we're in charge. The Texans have no control of this situation. When a star player wants out. He will get traded. It happens everywhere. You know why? Because the star player won't show up to play, he won't play. I'll say I'm not coming. And then he's going to sit out and then it's bad headlines. And it's a bed energy around the team, and everything is about any anything from to Shawn Watson. And then David Kali's got his head in his hands. Every Tuesday, going another question about to Shawn Watson and Nika stereos, fielding questions about nothing. New one. This Shawn Watson simply won't play. If he doesn't want to be there. He's not going to go. Okay, guys try to trade me. I'm going to show up. He's not gonna do it. He's gone too far down the road of being traded. Now he went past the point of no return. When they put out the statement saying, Yes, he regards who you hire his head coach. I want out and the colt and the Texans are gonna sit here and go. Yeah. You know, we're in charge, and then they're going to slowly realize they're not And the longer they go without making a trade, the worst offer they're going to get because that's how it's going to go in teams move on. And if they say we're just simply not going to do it, and we get into free agency in March, and a couple of teams that are kind of sitting around going well, we can't wait. So we're gonna go get Matthew Stafford. We're gonna go get Jamis Winston. We're gonna go get Marcus Mariota, and then you start seeing certain things be taken up. And then eventually when they realize hey, to Sean, watching this serious, it's just gonna be the Jets sitting there all sweaty, going and grimy going. We knew you'd come back to us. How about we give you Joe Flacco in 1/5 round pick and you give us this guy and the deal isn't going to be what they could get. Now, which is three first round picks. Probably a second round pick. Maybe two. Maybe even a player. Maybe even we'll throw in Sam Darnel. If they want the cult, the the Texans I keep saying that calls the Texans just live on Mars. I mean, really, They think they're in control of a situation. They're not in control, and eventually they're going to realize it, And it's going to be too late. And we're all going to sit here and say, I know, I know. I know they're gonna go. But we thought we thought because you know how the Geo it is the goats and he's the blood. It is a contract and yeah, just like just like the Packers thought Aaron Rodgers is everything is fine, right? Just like the lines. Everything was fine with Matthew Stafford. Right? All the area. Everything. Yes, you just like Jared Goff couldn't get traded because he's got Dino. I know here, cry here, and then they're grabbing your shirt in there crying into it Going up. There is getting all snot all over it and you're going. I know. I know Houston Texans. I know that's what's gonna happen. And the sooner the Texans realize that the better off they'd be All right, first off. Nobody said they loved Jared Goff. So that that analogy that that example that work a soon as they said right now, they told us they didn't love him. So that one doesn't work. Stafford they mutually parted. In other words, you guys got to get me help. And you hired this guy that wants a bite kneecaps or whatever the hell he's talking about here. I'm done. I don't care if you bring induced daily lovey Smith and the rest of everybody that could possibly make up a super coaching staff about Uh, that at some point after 12 years, you say I don't I don't wanna keep you know, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting the different results and well, they continue to lose. So at some point, they point the fingers back at you, like in that spider man, mean On and that's where Matt Stafford, I'm Spider Man. Your spider know we're the same. No, We're really not really not know. You know, I've espoused the view all week on the dish on Watson thing I'd like to see the Houston talked off. This wasn't talking tough. This was talking, hopeful, wistful. He's going to stay. He's gotta stay. That's why I came here. Like okay, well, he's under contract and he signed a big deal. And that's certainly something I come back to you. And do you want to call the bluff? And forego what appears to be inevitable right? Because if these reports are right, and I said it to Jason Cole last hour, it's like if if these air the reports that this is weeks ago That even Eric the enemy it had he come and I agree with Jason Cole and you and I have talked about this that I wouldn't have wanted to have my first opportunity..

"The other thing is, despite all the smoke that they were blowing, you know, one other point. Um, I believe that Nagy made the comment earlier in the season, one of those press conferences. That him and pace and the president of football operations met every week to discuss what was going on. So despite this, the comments the past couple of days That he's not involved in football operations and that he is and then he isn't they keep waffling on that because they get caught their own. Life. Yeah, Tony. Thank you Appreciate the phone call. Look, I get what you're trying to say. You're trying to say that this isn't a football family anymore. It was a football family. When It was owned by a Hal is, but as soon as it was inherited by the McCaskey's whether it was, um Michael McCaskey before him. And now, George, they're doing the same stuff. And you don't believe in ownership. And and I'm riding in the sidecar right now In 2021 next year, I I say with the benefit of looking at his entire body of work, Lovey Smith was a good coach for this team right now. Don't take this team to the Super Bowl. They went to the post season three times. What was the team as consistently successful as you want? No, but like had an identity. Yes, he wanted to get off the bus running. Yes, he was. He was going to take the football away. It's here too good. He wanted to beat the Packers. He did. There were a lot of good things about loving love. He was a good coach here. Anyone games? Yeah, I would say the best aspect of the lovey Smith regime was the fact that when they were counted out, they put actually played the best football. So when you thought that the Bears had no chance to win a game boom, the players play for loving and they want a game You didn't expect they played. They loved him, too. That's something that hasn't happened as of late. Yeah. Randy's in Seattle. Hey, Randy, you're on ESPN 1000. Gentlemen, Good afternoon, and you guys been cracking me up last couple of days. So listen, I didn't think things could get worse than they were. After that. There's a press conference yesterday and then George comes on your show and like, wow, He just blew it away that way. So you guys do the greatest thing today? You need to play that. Ares management slave right song at the start of every show until we get past this Because I thought it was the greatest chuckle I've had, and I thought it was the greatest greatest song ever. So I did want comment, Um Last week. You had dander, Can I? I thought he was a tremendous interview for you guys. Yeah, he doesn't. I spend very much before he was great and The last thing I wanted to say, I mean, this is a second rate organization run by a third rate knucklehead and They're three eyes that apply to bears management. Ineptitude, incompetence and incontinence because they keep paying down their legs, even though they don't intend to. But that means that stops writing continents means it stops right. Like you. It doesn't. It's not a pure full stream. Isn't that right? I mean, if you haven't continents and major teammates and destroying right, am I right? Like I should know this. I'm the one turning 54 next month like I gotta twice this morning. I got a bit like three and five to take a whiz. It says a lack of voluntary control over your nation or Number two. Okay, so you can't control Okay? He's right. The benefit of the doubt. All right. There you go. If I could offer by way of analogy, your broadcast partner Tom Waddell. When he got into the profession he's in now. I think it would be the first to tell you he struggled. Oh, George, I think your mom is here. E think I think I don't agree with Randy. I don't think you can. I think you have to say that song for when you're feeling your lowest You can't just like if you're having I had a little bit of a bad afternoon play. You gotta wait for that you have the wings are really in a valley And then you hit that you had to go. But not you guys. It was a complete home run this year. That song Grand Slam Boom! George, I think your mom is here, boys. You can take a right, Ted, Don't forget your course. Oh, yeah. Thanks. I mean, Allison a ride it is. It's fantastic. Listen to it next. Yes, but I'm just saying, like we're just surrender or whatever his name was suggesting that you start to show when you had on the show every day with that, I think then you get tired of it's like a top 40 years. I don't know. I don't know playing the top 40 hits, though, until it's not ahead. And and I think what Chris said in December. It was true. It was very true and very funny. But after that press conference when you saw the four guys who are in the sleigh ride with Virginia, you could visualize all of it with Ted with that stupid Headphone with the game. We got the quarterback situation completely, right? No. Have we won enough games? No. Everything else is there. It looks like he's working in a drive thru and Wendy's Why are you doing this?
