"Thanks Monday night additional for the bunkers review with you as we wrap up we get set repeat we get in St Louis said enterprise seven Missouri valley conference basketball tournament the commissioner of the N. B. C. dot Elgin joined Tom Ackerman yesterday thirty years of arch madness in St Louis water run this is been only the big east at Madison Square Garden has a longer run in one venue at a conference tournament and I know you're excited about this addition well we're certainly proud of that tradition and history that we have in our league overall were hundred thirteen years old and and the thirty years and in Saint Louis is is just incredible we've we've been we've I entered into at an extension with enterprise center through twenty twenty five with the championship in Bora Bora really excited their fans are going to experience the completed renovation of enterprise center when they come into this year's tournament it's going to be a great one it's March fifth through the eighth at enterprise center the first two games are on Thursday let's get right to it now if your team you don't want to play on Thursday because it's very difficult to get out of there you got to win four games Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday four in a row to get to the NCAA tournament but it can be done especially when you look at some of these teams in the way the league has been that has the possibility of it so it let's let's analyze these games if you would commissioner out in the first game you have Drake Illinois state that's a six o'clock tip that first game at Drake's a good team I mean they're eighteen thirteen overall they one eight valley games Illinois state really fell below expectations I thought this year that's a pretty good opener it really is you know drink drink has probably the best rim protector in in the valley in recent years Liam Robbin Robbins and I and I just think that is a team that it's extremely dangerous one nine ominous fact though is no team has ever come out of Thursday night to advance even to Sunday let alone win the championship on Sunday so Drake Illinois state a great match up in the first game and we have the operational in Evansville hungering for their first win of Rollins R. Joannie keener definitely championship bout how a team that is taken Cincinnati overtime has given even the best teams in our league a rough time this year that's gonna be a great match up as well the Drake Illinois state winner gets number one seeded you and I the balco eventual winner gets the number two seed Loyola in the second round those two teams could be really scary to face in the NCAA tournament northern Iowa and loyal but again Valpo Evansville Drake Illinois state are going to try to have something to say about that Friday when you start the quarterfinals it's a noon tip off between Northern Ireland that winner of Drake and Illinois state described northern Iowa for us I think commissioner that with the three point line move back a little bit this year that really played into their hands they are a good shooting team they spread the floor really well don't they yes they do they they have won their first outright MVC title since two thousand ten this year the number one seed are they enter the valley tournament with twenty five wins six losses I think I think really that is a team that I would I would compare with with teams have gone on to sweet sixteens and and the embassy in the last decade let's say a team with with really good size he got two post players that are really really strong no I think that's a team that has daps probably the most dynamic scorer and and six for sophomore guard AJ green who suffered a broken nose a couple games ago but he's he's ready to go the two bags at six ten Austin five foot seven foot Justin doll really give them an advantage in an orderly dominant in the paint and I think I think northern Iowa could could definitely win this tournament and go on dancing turnpike I also think with a thirty seven that ranking northern Iowa eight with wins over South Carolina when I Colorado when Colorado was ranked in the top fifteen I think that's a team that will certainly compete for at large if they if they happen to lose it in our chat that's interesting I was gonna ask you the very next question is there a chance if they get to the final the northern Iowa can get in there it's hard to deny a team that has that many wins I think they will I really do believe they will and you know we'll see but I I think that's a team that's that they're talking about on the global and and a team that is projected to be in the NCAA tournament and that's a known brand to northern Iowa if that helps in the NCAA tournament that's a name that people know northern Iowa's shows up in the NCAA tournament you know that's trouble they can do some damage and they have some historic wins no doubt about it that we've seen through the years what about that second game though on Friday of Bradley and southern Illinois now that's going to be an absolute slugfest of Bradley is a team that went to the NCAA tournament last year you know they locked down defensively on the other side that's the best story in your league this year southern Illinois was picked last and now here they are right in contention let's first year head coach Bryan Mollen she's brought magic back to Carbondale he was of course a fixture on Arab dominant drawn in when he played it as an as an undergraduate as a point guard and I think he's had a tremendous first year out of the box Bradley I think is is perhaps the most athletic team in our league I like the child was hurt there there six ten junior forward was hurt he's back at full strength they are they are dangerous team that I think could also be a team that could win a couple games in the NCAA tournament so that that it certainly is going to be a team to reckon with for five match up that's that's incredible match up for that a second game on Friday afternoon yes it is two thirty tip off for Bradley and southern Illinois those are two schools are gonna bring some fans to when you add the same that could be one of your more lively crowds right there I think so and certainly the winner in that game will go on to play in the first semifinal on on Saturday so we were looking for what should be are much stronger attendance this year poorly again certainly the semis and the final on Sunday are those two sessions are usually the biggest draws we have your Friday night session Loyola on set a six o'clock tip will be awaiting the winner of Alfredo brazen Evansville Loyola as we know went to the final for a couple of seasons ago under Porter Moser and they are a known brand also the number two seed is pretty a pretty dangerous aren't there they really are that's a team they can they can beat anyone they've got the part a good balance in DAP's probably the best passing big man in college basketball and Cameron Crowe weighing their hungry after competing in the N. I. T. last year there there are going to get back to the to the NCAA tournament and I think they've got the the the type of experience and and veteran players to to do just that Loyola taking on that winter and then the late game I don't know why but I love the late game on Friday it's always my favorite is two teams that you don't see that you almost forget about them they come flying out of the tunnel that last game at eight thirty on Friday night they're always good the three against the six and you have two good ones here Indiana state is very capable of winning this tournament and Missouri state the six seed dog was the preseason number one pick in your league and they're starting to play pretty well they are I think I do Missouri state is it extremely dangerous heading into this tournament they've got such great athletic talent Dana Ford is a a better head coach he was a Tennessee state prior to going into a Missouri state grew up in the Missouri valley plated Illinois state and coached under Gregg Marshall Wichita state Indiana state I think using a dark horse to win the title in the project that's tremendous talent in their freshman and sophomore classes regulating is done a great job with that team there right there the third seed which nobody would've figured that at midseason R. eighteen and eleven eleven and seven overall and that that should be an intriguing matchup the winner of that game of course moving on to the semifinals some gap on Saturday semifinals are Saturday at two thirty and five on CBS sports network in your final is on CBS Sunday at one o'clock you continue that relationship was C. B. S. and that is a major exposure for your league is it hasn't benefited you through the years to be the tournament in advance hasn't always been this way but pretty much every time in advance of the other conference tournaments well I think it creates compaction in a regular season schedule which is not a positive but I do think playing early focuses attention on our tournament won only forty four tournaments in the country that has a championship game on CBS which is of course the network of the of the NCAA tournament we're proud of that fact that we started that partnership in two thousand seven and now they're coming in again to televise the championship and the semi finals on that on the CBS sports network so we couldn't be a better set up for us in Saint Louis with all the renovations downtown at Union Station on the arch grounds are our fans are going to be delighted to see the lower ball completion of the renovations at enterprise centre and and all that comes together as we celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of March madness you got arch madness dot com to learn more and there's also an arch madness after that I think you need to get on your phone so that you can follow along this is a huge tournament in St Louis's draws a lot of visitors this provides Doug Elgin how much revenue for the city every year times you can you can pick a number but it's it brings a lot of fans and you can count on the spend a lot of money in the restaurants all over that the metropolitan area and it really is that right we take over downtown you see a lot of colours walking around a lot of that that yard school peril it really is a great a great day atmospheres were turned down it's nine games in four days it starts on Thursday March fifth and ends Sunday March eighth and one other thing I want to cover with you by the way good arch madness dot com their ticket discounts there are some great deals that Purina dog Chow family fun pack right I mean you get to I think it's all the popcorn and soda and hot dogs and you bring your kids.

"Let's hope this next question comes from teresi reds dear john and and hank. I have a simple question which has been bothering me for some time and it is only your fault. What is lacroix. I have no idea how to spell it therese velde lacroix l. We see our oh y which makes total sense that sort of an expansion of the name leroy. I am from norway drawback. Heck wants to google it. I have never heard of lacroix before. Thanks theresa by the way to raise your welcome for my excellent norwegian pronunciation. I'm not gonna. I don't even want to type it in because as soon as i'm looking at google earth i'm completely incapable of five gasping. They have an aquarium. Oh there's definitely only know lacroix thing that we are. You know what i i was gonna make fun of dropbox and now i just desperately wanna move there because i'm looking looks like the google earth images is and it looked so lovely and also i can't make fun of any place that has health care for all of its citizens. Also you live in indianapolis so you can't that make fun of any place. Oh that's not true i can. I can still make fun of my hometown of orlando florida. Yeah now d- roebuck looks like got a lovely place that i would love to visit <hes> especially. This weird island fortress. Yeah ain't good. I went there on google earth. I have to say that after spending five minutes in d- roebuck doc on google earth i was like i think i could spend the rest of my life in rohbock but don't quote me on that anyway. Teresa moved into durbach and i'm bringing a curly with me. That's that's my big plan for. Resettlement in norway is that i'm going to introduce y'all to the fine fine world of zero calorie slightly flavored bubbly. Louis waters emphasis on the slightly then yeah so john. This is he's going to be a lacroix. Magnate for the fjord land that is that is is your life now. That is what i do. It's like southern norway so it's probably not it's probably warm most of the year right yeah yeah. What's the weather like enduro roebuck in february. It's clear what it's lovely today. That is very nice. Okay okay. We didn't say how its belt. It's spelled l. a. space. He's r. i. x. It's named after a town in wisconsin yeah. It shouldn't even be pronounced cry because it's a french thing but we've taken can french names and made them more american sounding the i guess you'd never been to mylan tennessee or pay ru or lima ohio yeah yeah kehro in the other whist is end of americanized names like we can flatten out anything. It's time for a billion dollar idea another million dollar idea saab law twitter said that this was a billion dollar idea nia from joanna who says million dollar idea workout class odd scooter paddle board yoga but for those rented scooters yeah. I assume that it's for the rented scooters the birds the lime is lying one of them away the suitcase company. That's different. I i think adam lambert has just started one ambos lamborghinis of electric scooters because there must be something different about them except except there is this is a high a luxury scooter. Wait till you see yeah. You'll you'll break your ankle exactly the same amount of times so this is not a million dollar idea idea now it is a it's a solid eight thousand dollar idea like i think that you could get people to go to a few of these classes because people will do anything that you call fitness but i don't think you're going to get to like orange theory soul cycle levels of success with this concept and who who needs that level of success though the what i really want is to be able to do my yoga and see the town at the same time if that's available apple and dr- it drove back norway then i will sign up it looks as especially dangerous drawback where there are lots of hills and very very curvy roads. I know that i am romanticizing drove a little bit but i want to move there so bad like i just i really i know that geographical of curious don't work but maybe this one would work all right hank..

"Is interesting partly because of just how it's meaning has changed and how meaning of actually changed somewhat against what the usual current but there's more and it actually gets into something that a lot of you asked me about where i always give you half of an answer well here's the real answer and it does get into where fantastic came from depending on how far back you wanna go fantastic goes back to a greek word fun tostitos and as you might spontaneously imagine fantastic coast with spelled with a p h fantastic host meant to make visible ultimately if you trace it a little further back in greek than that and so you could see how that will come to mean fantastic but what about the spelling what is the t h y p h sir it's actually kind of a miracle the watch somebody learning to reid and to see them internalizing that sort of thing a quick cute story my younger daughter last time we were in saint louis and she took a drink of water and i don't know where she got this she yelled this water tastes yucky it tastes like philadelphia water as in p h philadelphia because i'm from philadelphia and we mentioned the philadelphia has traditionally had a certain water problem and i'm upset because i'm from there let's face it there's that taste end for some reason she thought saint louis water tastes it that way this tastes like philadelphia water and everybody laughs v p h well what is that 'cause why can't it just be a foot and how do you spell foot it's a weird little story it makes perfect sense because you go step by step by step and things don't change and next thing you know everything's all fucked up fucked up spelled p h you and so that is something that begins with this you've got the have a little bit of introduction to linguistics here but i'll take you through it is briskly as i can suppose you say pot and then you say spot so hot spot now you're thinking well they both have a piece yeah but actually appeaser kind of different if you say pot and you put your hand in front of your mouth you might get a little bit of very broad upon your hand pot like that now if you put your hand in front of your face and say bob noticed it that isn't as wet it doesn't pop is much so there's a difference between per per per per that sounds like nothing in english but those sorts of things can matter because in some line which is those processes different sounds so in some languages pot would be one word and thought would be another listen again pot pot pot blocked so pot might mean the thing you cooking pot might mean air conditioner that's how actually a lot of languages work has discussed that sort of thing in reference the other languages on the show before greek ancient greek was one of those languages you had put an now is what we now call fi is what we now call pie you had what we call an aspirated t that's the speedy one but then it on aspirated one which was but what's that thing about fraternities and sororities you have the oh with the capitol i through it and we think of that as five which is getting a little bit ahead of ourselves but back then it was pie then for just put you had the little thing that looks like whatever it looks like a little table and that's pies and that mysterious number of people writes books about so there's a difference between pi pi language always changes so ancient greek has the situation where there one letter in one letter in their different things that's why you have a fraternity like pie beta by the get ahead of ourselves against what happened was that changed the foot overtime didn't stays the same but per aspirated pete changed to a foot and that may have had something to do with the fact that people in restarted eating things were more like grape nuts remember the show where we talked about how f becomes more common when human diet changes but whatever you had the calming fuck that change in the same way in ancient greek at first to enter became overtime there's the difference between cook and cook cook mccain and then cook cook so all this is is a pattern but what interest us is this ph thing because that's what's come down to bother us in english so in greek what the ghana's has become foot and that means that they're five symbol the zero with the capitol i threw it is now pronounced foot now lots and lots of greek words were borrowed into latin latin borough greek word the greek the prestige language and so when greek still had a difference between puff puff the latins heard that and they wrote the aspirated pita with an h h this kind of you know indicating a certain kind of sure puffins and sounds so p h as opposed to put so the difference between put in put like how would you write that difference they had come up with something that came up with that over time in greek became foot the latins you could hear it from overly ocean and so they realized they understood the words but they wrote as per were not pronounce foot so they pronounce them that way too but that meant that you have the situation where something britain with a p n h which meant but now with foot you just deal with things like that they happen very gradually and so it used to be that in english when we start borrowing words from latin and greek we would try to undo this sort of thing so for example example phantom and you could imagine fantomas is visible thing it's more of that same fantasy fantastical route phantom in earlier english will spelled with a nice goddamn f f f t o m that looks looks like a misspelling now because in the late sixteen hundreds there were certain people who were so in love classical learning they thought that are spelling needed to reflect this classical learning and so phantom which was spelled in a way that you know up small person or a foreigner could easily wrap their heads around will change the ph because that looked more like greek and latin and so there you go a lot of that happened it's a lot of why are spelling is bad as people foot soldier really soldier that's the way people came to say it and that was a good soldier better it's easier to say but they stuck in l back in there because people saw that in old books and they figured it needed to stay there wasn't episode of perfect strangers there's some per the show with some bronson been show as belsky the foreigner then he's living with cousin larry who's played by mark linn baker who believe it or not by marriage is a distant cousin of mine there's a factor in case i get hit by a bus but remember that show perfect strangers i remember on one of them and i frankly do not have the energy they go through every episode of that and find which one of these it was but bal key with his non native english at golden without a shadow of a doubt but i thought that was actually the funniest thing on that show ever fall episodes that so what what is that be doing in there anyway what would dump it well it's because you see that in for example latin dooby tower etc and somebody was too much time on their hands you know i hope they died of yellow fever decided decided to stick that be back in there in here we are and so some of the ph is like that not though for example fancy you'd never know fancy is actually related the fantastic fancy is contraction of fantasy which we now just think of as a real word go figure and fantasy had two meanings that created are usages of fancy and so a fantasy maybe that you have some sort of vision you have some sort of apparition in your head and so of course you might saying see somebody as in you have eight fantasy of being whipped them so to speak and so the british person who says a fancy that's where that comes from and then there's also something that is fancy some kind of fancy dancy flout see sort of thing because your fantasy of something quite possibly will be something that improves that you're fantasy is that something is flout flout see you know what people in the old days would have called artificial and meant it as a compliment and next thing you know you have fancy things one of my favorite uses of fancy actually is from a fairly obscure show to and this they felt follies of nineteen thirty six this is a review this is from the days when you could go to the theater and see not only a musical with the story but you would see justice pope parade was the direct precursor of what became the tv specials and tv variety shows the fifties sixties and seventies so this is excel follies nineteen thirty six an fanny brice was in it fanny price of funny girl fanny price of baby snuck swell that's enough of that was a long time time ago but she did a song called fancy fancy that was certainly not record it but here's mary testa and peter scolari peter skull lowry of bosom buddies fame doing a recreation of it in nineteen ninety nine i find this number just humorous and it gets in the fancy it allows me to play this one's on the show so there you go.

"Yeah, summertimes officially here than in the blink of an eye summer's over. But enjoy it while they've got it. We haven't had a whole lot of enjoyable outdoor summertime weather conditions as of late, as this stormy pattern continues to bring round after round of rain showers, thunderstorms, subdue, gene storms. We saw over the weekend, some of the same. Areas tonight that we're seeing some stronger storms are once again. See and heavy rains. We've got rain from central portions of West Virginia through most of southern Ohio right along the Ohio river line over into southeastern Indiana, then. Yeah. Right along the river, down into southwestern Indiana. Right about to the Evansville area. Another area of torrential rains tonight, central and southern Texas. It's pretty much rain from Dallas to Houston. Dallas is in the, the light to moderate rain. There are areas of torrential rain strong storms. Actually, we have some severe thunderstorm watches that will continue for another few hours in southern Texas. And right now I'm looking now. There's three or four different super cells that are prompting severe thunderstorm warnings. I guess the good news is we're not seeing the likes of toward Nazi activity. We did see Saturday night, a number of tornadoes sweeping through parts of Illinois Indiana think the teams were out on Sunday, Father's Day, saying, at least five tornadoes touched down in the Hoosier state Saturday. So let's start things off tonight with our travelers wetter to get the new week underway, a service of our friends at travelcenters of America ta truck service, more bays more expertise and more solutions the concern with the rains that are continuing tonight. It's going to be flash flooding, and as we head into in through this week flash flooding is gonna be a concern for a rather expansive area from the southern and central plains to the Ohio valley and over to the mid-atlantic, scattered severe storms possible each day posing, mainly a risk of damaging winds and possibly some large hail scattered showers and thunderstorms ongoing from the southern plains into the Ohio valley. Strong winds ripped through the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex this past afternoon. Think that's the area of storms. I was just mentioning the stronger storms have now pushed further to the south winds up to sixty six miles per hour reported in the Fort Worth area quarter-sized hail throughout Taran county commercial building in Irving, Texas, damaged by the strong winds. The Fort Worth aviation museum was also whacked by strong winds. Turning over at least one helicopter and damaging several other aircraft possible tornado damage in a roof and trees power lines in Glen, willow. Hi. Oh, that's just southeast of the Cleveland metro area flash flooding is what we've been contended with himself west Ohio. Flash flooding hit parts of the Cincinnati metro Sunday morning, there was actually a portion of I seventy five that had to be closed near I seventy four with the high water. Water rescue was reported several miles west of downtown Cincinnati. This frontal system. We were talking last week about a front that was eventually going to stall out in exactly where that front stalled out, would be the focal point for these rounds of showers and thunderstorms. It's pretty much stalled out from the plains eastward into the mid Mississippi valley. The Ohio valley on over to the mid Atlantic in it might be parked for a while. So when to get the warmer, more humid air Putin northward into that stalled frontal boundary. You've got all that moisture every little disturbance that rides along the jet stream is acknowledging these clusters of thunderstorms pretty common as you head into the summer months. But that's what's going to lead to locally heavy rain near that stalled out front. There's we've had one disturbance come through over the weekend, another disturbance, which is bringing the showers and thunderstorms tonight as we progress over the next couple of days. We'll see another couple of waves right along that stalled out boundary each of them bringing the risk of torrential rains possibly severe thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon hours. So the local flash flooding is going to continue with any of these clusters, the ground. So saturated according to the national weather service flash flood guidance. It would take less than three inches of rain in a three hour period to trigger flash flooding in parts of the Arkansas Mississippi Missouri and Ohio valleys before the first round of torrential. Rains came in Saturday night into Sunday morning. I'd gone out to the pool and don't water level was a little bit low. But I knew the rains were coming this past day. The pool the pool is pretty much overflowing. Can't take anymore. So we've got at least a good three four inches of rain at the home, twenty there. Of course when it starts flowing out were the filter is have no idea. We've got more rains in the mix. Now is these thunderstorms track over the same areas for multiple days. That's the concern probably going to see a lot of flash flooding, and it could become more severe, so the rounds of rain on dhadly isn't going to slow the rate of fall of our main stem rivers this week. Rather than produce other crest, the Mississippi River crested last weekend in Saint Louis water levels in the Arkansas. River continue to fall after hitting record highs in six different locations from northern Oklahoma into southeastern Arkansas, of course, the Mississippi, they've already set records for flood longevity. In some areas, the Mississippi's been above flood stage since nearly the first of the year if you could imagine that. So we've got the active pattern for several more days of flooding rains and thunderstorms. Unfortunately, there's many areas in the southeast. They tell us that are relatively dry, if you could imagine, and they're gonna miss out on most of these rains that the drought areas in the southeast last week, we saw the severe drought in southeastern Georgia in southern South Carolina. That was pretty much eliminated savannah picked up nearly eight inches of rain. They typically pick up six inches for the entire month of June. Of course, so much rain fell in Charleston. The, the streets became flooded last Wednesday there. Now, even with this rain widespread normally dried a moderate drought continues from the Florida, panhandle through much of Georgia, and the coastal areas, the cat or Carolina's according to the US drought monitor no meaningful. Rain is forecast along that corridor through, at least the day today. Monday. Instead, the downpours will be congregating to the northwest and also some to the south of the drought zone. Some of our travelers weather is were underway here. Hope you had a good fathers day weekend, here around the country, toll-free. It's eight eight eight eight six zero eighty seven eighty five eight six zero t r u k it was an off weekend for the the big series in NASCAR. But there was a lot of racing activity and other divisions. And of course, say has all the details as were underway on a Monday here on America's truck a network. The report. America's trucking network. Ross Chastain led a race high one hundred and forty one of two hundred laps on Sunday dominating the truck series race at Iowa speedway and the running of the Eminem two hundred. But after the race Chastain winning truck was disqualified by NASCAR after failing inspection for being too low in the front, Brent Moffett who finished second was declared the winner. It's a big change of emotions..
