"And whatever, whatever they're doing for you, they need to keep doing it at physical therapy south. Thank you. I'm going to let them know that I told him, but he has no doubt. By the way, I was in the office and I called anybody else and he said, I said I was talking to my family. He said, who was that? I took a great screener. Danny Brown, he's my man, and he gets me a lawyer and I said, okay, he said, fine, great. He listened to we also listened to the show. He's a known some document that I was talking to. He recognized your voice, Jim. The guy. Do you remember a couple of there was a time you told me that everybody had turned on the show? Do you think you think they're coming? If you can just keep it in the road, we're winning about. We're working hard. Jeff and I are really working hard. Okay, well, what should I do? 'cause I hate for this train to end. I mean, it's been a good ride. From Jeff and I and then don't back, you have too bad when he gets beat by Suzy or anybody any other female. You know, of course, you don't crush me. I know I told them. He's going to the last to make minute. And then he's going to let Herman from German where he's from. Crush me in the last round. Of course, you don't get your more legend through that. You know that legion. We'll take care of him. We all know he's been doing that, but we know that. Well, Jim, I'm glad to hear from you. I'll tell you the truth all. I mean, I think it's the best time to show right now. I really believe that. Jim, I would have to say you're getting maybe the effect of the therapy is they don't give you an answer to any. They don't give you anything. You don't take any medicine over there. Well, no painkillers. I have never had physical therapy, but Jim, I count me in for whatever you're getting. You love it, Paul. You really would. You would love it. I'll knock you down. Okay, I'm in. Thank you up against a break after that. Very positive call here. From Norman Vincent Jim. We'll take a short break. More to come right after this. You were listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. This pat is up next. Hello, man. Hi. Hi, Paul. I just have one point today and that is to say, hell must be freezing over and I'm in and Jim love fast. Bye. This packed patted a phone booth where she's about to run out of time. I've never had more than a ten second conversation with her. Not that I'm complaining. Roy is up next in Tennessee. However, right? Yes, is this Paul? It is. Well, first time collar Powell, I just wanted to call and talk a little bit about Tennessee basketball, the men's players. We've got this big thing going on now where they're saying that Tennessee cheats and probably a thousand lots. I think it was the UAB culture whatever can we come in about that? Well, first of all, it's not true. Tennessee is a very physical team defensively. Nobody's better in the country and I think people have complained about that, but I don't think Tennessee has anything to apologize for or to whom. Thank you very much for the call. Appreciate it. Let's continue with Dale in Colorado, a hell of Dale. Hey, Paul, how you doing? We're doing great. Thank you. Yeah, so I just got a quick comment and one quick question if you please indulge me. Of course. So I was walking in from work. So contrary to what AC from Canada thinks, people who listen to yourself do work. But anyway, so I called the trillion of a Mississippi guy thing something about naming their board of call. Let me ask you a question. In your opening of your show, you're laying on the ground kissing a board off. What does that board dog's name? That bulldog is Aga. Team to story. Thank you very much. Thank you. So thank you name it, dak, deuce, gobble gobble, whatever they want to. But y'all go guys in this state love you. Yeah. I have been face to face with both Aga. And the Mississippi stable dog. They're a little different. I'm not a bulldog expert. I mean, they're slightly different. They're both very beautiful dogs. Don't make me cheers. Susie is up next. Hi, Paul. Hello, Susie. Thanks for taking my call. It's a good day. I'm getting all kinds of texts from former students that I taught 50 years ago. It's pretty funny. They're like, Suzy is miss bainbridge. So they watch the show. I hope they're listening to Susie. But I mention it again. You have the upset of the color bracket so far, knocking off the long time and legendary color Jeff from Columbus. That was a stunner. Well, I've got my peeps behind me. I got, you know, my teacher, my kids. But I want to, you know, I want some of whatever Jim is drinking or taking or whatever because he was wonderful. You know, the last couple of days, it's now, is this bracket, Jim's bracken were voting for right now? Yeah, you know, I'm not trying to get in the middle of Jim's personal health, but it seems like maybe Jim had some maybe a pinched nerve. I don't know, something that was pressuring him, and now this lady has figured out a way to relieve that pressure because he seems like a completely different person. Well, and I want to Jim, I know you're listening. Thank you for your money's comments. And how many times you said my name, but that was really, really sweet. Susie, I think you're in his head. Oh, dear. Oh, dear, but I do have to tell you my daughter commented last night she said, mom, someone made a nasty comment about you on the thread. And I said, well, that's all part of the game. You know? And so I went to look at it, and I don't even know who this person is. I never heard of them. I don't want to take a caller. But he called me a flute. And I started laughing because I thought. How old are you? No, Susie. To me, I think that's a compliment. Well, my student from 50 years ago, Paul. I hope you're missing Paul. He got on and he said, you know, something like let it go, man. She's a great teacher. Susie is the new sweetheart of the fine bomb show. Agent. There's a number. I don't know what it means. Thanks, Susie. We're up against the break. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast.

"Who the Chargers are right now? I think from a personal perspective, Dan, yeah, we do. We know that Justin Herbert is special and unique. We know that Mike Williams is special, unique. We know that Keenan Allen is one of the unsung heroes of rhythm. I shouldn't say here. He's one of the unsung route runners and just productive overall wide receivers that the game is seen in the past 6, 7 years. We know those things. And we know that Austin Eckler is a stunt. So we know that there are talented on both sides of the ball that they have talented people at key positions. What we don't know is in the biggest of moments, how will Brandon staley manage the game, will he manage it objectively off of a probability slash analytics sheet? Will he go with his gut his footballing tuition? Will it jive with common sense in those critical moments, especially when you're going to be matched up against in your division in particular? One of the most respected coaches in the history of the NFL and Andy Reid, are you going to make the critical decisions that will be able to one up a guy like Andy Reid? We don't know those things yet because they haven't proven those things yet. But we know one through 53 that when these guys are healthy and obviously they've suffered some big time losses with rashawn slater but now with Joey being hurt right now, I mean it's. I think there's a lot more questions still then answers. Although they are a team that a lot of people love to get behind and say, this is a very, very talented team, but they ask the same question you just asked, but we just don't know who they're going to be when it matters the most. And I don't think we still know that answer. How nervous would you be if you're a packer fan right now? Extremely. Extremely. I told this happen. How did this happen? I think it starts obviously a lot of the problems that start that you see crop up during the season, especially early in the early part of the season. Really started in the off season. I think the uncertainty surrounding air and situation, palette, it trickled down to the decision that the Adams made to leave. Aaron not necessarily being around this off season around those young wide receivers. See, this is what I'm talking about where you have a limited limited amount of time in a really structured environment at the facility to work with players and get to know one another and develop chemistry. So as it is, as mandated by the CBA, when you then don't even do that,

"And we are back. Remaining hour of this night tomorrow live from Fayetteville, legend is next. Hey, yeah, Paul. We closed St. Louis, baby. We're closed. We're gladiators. The referees on the field, David. He's about to blow the whistle. I know you have him, man. It's been a long summer. Man, we're here. As I was talking with answer the phone, I was telling them guys in the back, they're a great job and I appreciate them, you know? I know a lot of people don't, but legend does. Hey Paul, I want to make one thing clear. Can I make something clear? I'm not an SEC fan. Let's get it right. I've never, ever been an SEC fan. Don't like them. Don't like to SEC. Whoo. That's right, baby. And let me tell you something, Paul. It's a frigging jungle out here. And in the jungle, he don't see the tigers and elephants in lines all gather together for each other. Hell no. They eat each other. They eat each other. And our kids stand on the other teams in the SEC. So let's just get it clear right out the back. And I'm not pulling for you. Hell no. Let me make it clear. LSU, wow. That's right. Come on, simmer. Come on baby. I hope for the state beats Brian Kelly's doll ass by 30 points, Paul. 30 frigging points, baby. I hope that be able to so bad they send that doll Yankee back to Notre-Dame as an assistant coach in week two. I really do, baby. And let me tell you something else. Quack quack, quack, quack. That's all right, baby. I'm an organ duck fan. I'm an argument. Let me tell Ellie make laugh at something. Bone X is dangerous. That's right. I said it Bo mix is bipolar. He might be Johnny Unitas on any given day, or he might be Jay Barker without a defense on another day. So be careful which bipolar quarterback shows up Ellie may clamp it. Quack, quack, crack. I'm an organ Doug fan. Let me make it clear. I ain't pausing for any of y'all. India, y'all. So let's make it clear. Right there. Because this is a jungle baby, it's a jungle, and I'm the king of the jungle. I hope all y'all get devoured by these teams. Cincinnati, come on. Beat the hell out of that hole. I'm calling the upset. I say Cincinnati beats Arkansas straight up. Beat the hell out of that hog. I ain't no SEC fan. Alabama fan, baby. And part of me say something about one of your colleagues as I make. Please. Desmond Howard, he makes you look bad, dude. He just makes you look bad. You know how you had to take some people to the side and just tell them man, hey, you represent us and you just stupid and you need to shut up. That's what you need to do to Desmond Howard. Not only do they take a and a.m. and Michigan, he picked Pittsburgh. Is that the same kiddie picket Jordan Madison kids vibe and to know how no more is that? Is that the same frigging one? Paul, you need to take to the sides and look there you make us look bad because here's the thing the average fan today ain't average no more Paul. We know as much about football as y'all doing on YouTube online. Watch the practices for all the players. Right down the coaches interviews. We know as much as y'all know to a large degree, maybe not have the inside solar system, but we have every source that we need and we don't believe in your experts won one of your so called experts come off as dumb as hell, Paul. And that's a two, man. Take him to the side and tell him to shut the hell out. Blockhead monster has some job DJ job. The black hat posse is at the city limits. The rest about the blow to whistle. You can't run. Alabama's on the doorstep. Elvis has left the building. Wow, that was a classic call. Let's continue. AC is in New Jersey. Canada. Good afternoon, mister fine, bob. Thank you so much for taking my call. Wherever you want to be, you can be. I can be anywhere. How about we put legend with the crimson tide? He can be there. Or something, no amount of time he's typing up the team. He didn't even want to accept something like that. He's on player like a guy named legend who's hyping up the team. How many times do you think Nick Stevens is going to yell at him mister fine? But what do you think? I don't know. Are you saying you didn't like the legend call? Because the excitement doesn't like all the hype. Legend on that foster wouldn't be a quarterback or something and he's hyping up the team. It didn't look like that. I really don't know. That means it makes certain probably not listening to all this. Probably his thing was not rap poison. Where's my Debbie? And when they lose they're gonna cry like a little baby. And then you have a guy named Matt and San Antonio as I recall a month and a half ago, he said your coach is going to retire anyway. He's talking about Nick Saban. So since like Matthew is super scared 'cause he was an excellent guy, but the problem is, Matthew, Jimbo Fisher is not gonna deliver a championship. That's the second time I'm telling you, opening Jimbo Fisher is gonna be delivering is

"Yeah, yeah. You know how he is about me? Can we all do? And I love him to death about it, but well, but Shannon, I get in trouble with Tennessee fans because they think I'm too hard on them. I'm not too hard on them. I just try and I get same thing with Alabama. But I think my predictions on Alabama, I've been I've been called everything under the sun, but I think the 6 national championships under Sabin and the three other appearances in the title game pretty well justify me picking them almost every year to win it. Paul I'll remind you of something. I said to you, spend about four years ago. But I remember saying something to you because you were sort of apologizing for your book about the SEC and I went, hey, Paul, you need to stop doing that because your book is going to stand the test of time. It will. And I want to tell you that, but I'll make a statement here. And I tell you one, I'll call you in 7 years. I'll call you before then, but in 7 years, I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction. Alabama under Nick Saban is going to win in the next ten years with his contract 5 national titles. Okay? And it's going to happen because all the people that are out there wanting to play at the highest level now know Nick Saban's going to be there. That's why we're getting the recruits. The depth chart at all. I think a lot of people thought the opposite of that was going to be true Shannon. But I was talking, it wasn't a player, but I was talking to a father of a player. About that. And I said that too. I mean, the reason why I feel comfortable with what you're saying is that I covered Bryant's end and recruiting caught up to him a little bit, but the players that played for him at the end are still talking about it because it was so memorable to be part and I think as this thing starts to compress and with each year it will, there is a desire to want to be part of history and I mean, we're watching it every night with Serena Williams. Who expected that to be the lead sports story in the country this week? Yeah, and I agree with you. I think history dictates a degree of wanting to be a part of that history, whether you're a fan and you're going to attend a game or whether or not some individual that can participate in that history, you want to be at the top of that history. And their players and dads talking right now in every living room across America and that data is looking at sun and sun. You're going to have an opportunity here like no other time in your history. And now is that time for you to do it. And that's one of the play to Alabama pollen. That's why Alabama will continue to win. And I'm going to stick with my prediction and say when we win at least 5 more titles, including this year. Well, Shannon I agree with you about this issue. I need to think about the 5 overall, but yeah, again, he's won what 6 out of the last 14. Is that correct? I think there are 13. I can't remember every other year. But the teams is about to have Paul. And I'm telling you, I keep what we're recruiting big time. The teams were about to have are going to be some of the best teams in the history of football. Well, I mean, Shannon, I'm not arguing. I'm just kind of proposing you have a right to argue. The one thing the one thing I wonder about, though, and we will know this pretty soon, is I think for the first time since he's been there, there are more than one legitimate contender. And I say that because I think early on, it was less miles. And urban Meyer. He had two at one time, but you somewhat knew less miles would not hold up. And then urban Meyer flamed out. And then who was it after that? It really, I don't think he had, I don't think he had a threat. Dabo swinney was that was when he was the guy that did end. Yeah, but within the SEC, I think within the SEC he has, he has a couple of serious threats. You know what? I'll take this. He frees over there, did a decent job. He did. And then he got in trouble, but other than that, no, I agree, but you know by really competing. I think at this moment in time, I think Kirby smart, we understand. He's a serious threat every year. The real question I have is is Jimbo Fisher going to wreak havoc. And if he turns out to recap, then I think that makes it more difficult. If he doesn't, then Sabin has really knocked off another one. You don't want to say something for you, Paul, real quick here. You've mentioned last miles and just as a reminder to you. And I've got a great memory about football. You were the one guy that predicted the last miles downfall and other people were looking at you like you were nuts on TV. And I

"If you're lying to me, I will be unhappy. Jessica Jones. There's history here. And root cage. I'm just getting started. It's the biggest march ever on Disney+. All of these and more streaming this month. Back we go and augie is in New Orleans, a hello augie. Hey, Paul. I just want to thank all of my voters for their support. Really appreciate it. I've got knocked out by the greatest caller of all time. Paul, I'll say this. Elite 8 on the newest of the callers because I think all the other guys were your former Birmingham. You had having an elite 8 run in your first tournament's pretty good. Hell yeah, and I am proud of it and I want to thank Mary Kay for her support and pat from Georgia. Pat supported me. So thanks, pat. Paul, remember Manuel noriega? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Panama. Oh, Panama. Who am I thinking? That was Daniel Ortega. Four man, well, he's so pretty here, but the same category with Ortega. Or exactly. So remember he sought refuge in the Vatican embassy. And I think the special forces surround him. And they played this loud obnoxious music to coax him out. And it really didn't work, but you know what they were planned the wrong kinds of stuff. If they would have played back to back to back to back capes of Jeff from Ohio, he'd have come out of there screaming with his hands over his face. Exactly. So if the FBI ever calls and once tapes of Jeff over quickly because I think it's had a lot of hostage situations, if you just candid them those tapes, but Brian Kelly, Paul, was that interviewed those interview clips Brian Kelly and the Brody Miller interview. Was that an indictment on the mess O had left? Yes. I mean, it was to the point where he was he was saying these guys have no discipline. They don't seem to want to work out. And everything he said, if you go back and review the tape, at the same thing, I said the last two years. These guys don't look in shape. They look fat. They look weak. They look slow and they look like they don't care. It looks like they have not been under any kind of regime to get them into shape to win. And that's exactly what the guy has said. And if he doesn't want to get with the program, let him go to Alabama. Because you think he's going to act that way with Nick Saban? Probably not. So what do you think he's going to leave LSU and go to Alabama and just run in the field and play? And Sabin has not been expecting to work out. I don't know what these kids think. I think they think that they've made it to big time and now they can do what they want. And good for Brian Kelly, that is the first real positive thing I heard out of his mouth that he's holding them accountable. And whether they win 6 games or 9 or ten games, if he keeps those guys on a short lease, he will have done his job the first year. That's what I think. And as far as Brian Kelly's intellect. Where would you rank him if you had to rank SEC coaches in terms of their intelligence? Would he be in the top tier? Middle tier, lower tier. Extreme upper Echelon. That's exactly where I would put him. Hey Paul, thanks appreciate the time. Thank you very, very much. We are at the end of three hours. Let's update the bracket again that augie was talking about. We have now moved on to the elite 8. We've got a Jim legend matchup, which some people, which some people felt like really should have been the final, but we don't control it. And then you have the rather bizarre match up on the other side. I'm Ann and squirrel. It doesn't have the drama of the Jim legend matchup, which is essentially a gladiator fight. The loser is going to be carried out of the coliseum. But what we're really setting up here, I think, is a contrasting finale. The polls close in 30 minutes, and then we will get to the finals, but in squirrel and I man, you have two distinct differences. And by the way, who's winning right now, do we know? I'm Ann is dusting squirrel and what about the other side? Legend is beating Jim. That is right now. 30 minutes to go. 80% in, but we have not counted Louisiana yet, where they vote early and often. We will be right back after this. Hi, this is menace. Host of the meaning show featuring Lenny. Every week, we discuss the.

"Course corral. Let me ask you about NFL coaches leaning heavily on particular coaches. I've spoken to you in the past about Nick Saban and it seems like Belichick among others believes pretty heavily. You've got a lot of familiarity with saving as we've talked about in the past and being one of your former coaches. When it's in between, does that make a big difference? You mean, when you're not quite sure about a guy. Yeah. Absolutely. Look, I mean, sources in the college level. Sources that you trust. People who you know understand the differences between college and the pros can kind of make the projection as far as what their guy in college will look like once they get to the pros, how much profile concepts they that they were exposed to in college. And how that will help them in the pros. Those guys are in the I mean, they're just, you can't really place a value on them. And a guy like Nick, who has coached at the very, very highest level. And one of the was one of the very best to do it as a coordinator in particular, to have that relationship with him is priceless. It's absolutely priceless in today's game. And he's someone who and really, you would think it would just be on the defensive side of the ball, but Nick understands offensive football as well as anyone as well. And you need those sources. You need those resources. You need those testimonials from guys like that because look, it's hard, man. And it's really hard in the NFL now with the decrease in the amount of practice time that you get overall the amount of 11 on 11 time that you get, the reduction in preseason gains of reduction in live scrimmage opportunities, you are really having to make some obviously they're educated guesses educated projections, but you just don't have the resume on some of these guys that you would maybe have had in the past. So coaches like coach Sabin, their tremendous resources and I'll tell you what, if I ever got back in the NFL, you can best believe I would be absolutely chewing his ear off, asking him about information, not only about the guys that he coached, but the guys that he coached against because you can bet that he has a rolodex on everybody and he doesn't forget anything. So yeah, those guys, those guys are critical, especially in those decisions where it can go either way with maybe two different guys. He could definitely help you break the time. I know we're talking broadly here, but Kirby smart just put one of the greatest defenses on the field we've ever seen and they're almost too many players to go through, but as you look at that, as you watch that Georgia team throughout the fall and now look at them individually. What comes to mind in terms of talent other than enormous? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, they have, they have a little bit of everything that you want, right? I mean, so if you're looking for a guy who is a prototype four three three technique, a defensive tackle who can rush the passer who can play a one dev style defense or a two gap style defense and be just hell on wheels as a point of attack player against the run chase ball carries down on third down and get after the passer. But devonte Wyatt, and he can do it all. I mean, he can do all of that. And he plays at such a high clip at a high tempo and he's so advanced with his hands. I mean, that's just ridiculous. And then, you know, when you adjust the pose that with a guy like Jordan Davis, who athletically now, I mean, he had everybody's head blowing up at the combine with how a big man like that can move like that, not just in a straight line, but as far as his change of direction skills. I mean, that's just, that's just unfair that one team has that many people on its roster on one side of the ball in particular. And then even the garlic Trayvon walker, who quite honestly, for me, when I was watching George's defense, between Jordan and devonta and then Trayvon looked the other two stood out to me. They had their flash moments where you were like, okay, yeah, I want one of those. I want one of those. What was interesting to me about Trayvon is when he tested at the combine, I did not expect to see, although people had said he's going to test very, very well. See, I didn't see that same kind of athleticism transferring on the football field that I saw with the vontae in Jordan. But when you have a guy who's that big and that fast, you go back and you watch more tape and you really, you make a little bit more of a projection. That's where you kind of go to his coaches down at Georgia and go, hey look, I didn't necessarily see this athletic athleticism transfer on the field like it did with some of your other players, but just tell me a little bit more about the guide, the player is preparation is passion, you know, all those kinds of things because you don't want to be the guy who misses on someone who's that gifted athletically. The Kobe dean stands out because he's just a baller. He is about as tough as they get. He is fast. He is physical. He can blitz he can cover he can tackle. Lewis scene is one of my favorite guys in the draft because of just how dynamic key is to closing quickness to tackling ability to hitting ability. I mean, it's this player after player after player, man. And so it's no surprise that they won the national championship. Finally, Lewis, there are drafts when it's obvious. So we don't need to wait until draft night to see whether Trevor Lawrence gets picked or someone else. This year, I've seen a number of different names pop up and it is neat oriented with the Jaguars, but is there one player in this draft regardless of position that if you were making the call, you would grab? Honestly, I think icky acquired them from NC state offensive tackle because of how he plays the game, the nastiness with what he plays in the run game, the just in your face wanting to physically impose his will on new is something that really catches my attention, especially at a premium position like that, which is when you're talking about left tackle in particular, you kind of associate it with being up the meth position as far as having to have great feed, protect the passers, blindside, et cetera, et cetera. But this guy plays the game with the throwback mentality while also having the ability to be one of those dancing bear quote unquote type of guys who can protect with the very best of them and has worked really hard to get his game to that level. He's probably the guy for me that I think and then listening to him talk at the combine that really just has me excited about what his what is prospects are at the next level and how good he could possibly be. But look, I mean at that position alone, Paul, I mean every meal is another one that your listeners are very, very familiar with who is going to be a hell of a pro who's very versatile has played multiple positions along the law of the line during his time there at Alabama. Charles cross same way. I mean, there's just so many a good ones, but Nicki is one of those guys who, to me, because of its physicality, I'd be super, super excited if I can get my hands on him. Many thanks to Louis Rick. Louis, I know how busy you are. Because I've watched you all day and this is a very busy time of the year. So thanks for making a few minutes for us. It's always a pleasure. Absolutely, man. Hey, look, every time I'm in the car in the afternoon,.

"Riddick on the draft coming up in a minute. Michael in North Carolina, hello, Michael. Hey, Paul. One comment and the question, comment. Kudos to Jim for recognizing the erudite commentary of squirrel. Squirrel really does make a big difference in the show. And so we need to encourage guys like that. Secondly, Jeff from Columbus, I don't understand how he made the final 16 and then today to call in and start to try to report on pro day in Columbus of all places. I wanted to ask you, Paul, do you know the difference between a Yankee and a hemorrhoid? Give me a second on this. Difference between a Yankee and a hemorrhoid. I can't come up with it. Well, there isn't much because once I come down to rarely go back up and you're always painted, do you know what? All right, thanks, Paul. I like that one. Very good. Mary is in Ohio. Hello, Mary. Hello. How are you? Very well. Thank you. I just wanted to add commend you on the show. I've been watching it for about three years. My husband passed away in 2020. No, he was sent from Ohio down to Mississippi to work for a very popular soda company, and he came to love southern sports, and I'm a big football fan. I'm a big saints fan, so I just love the show. And just want to commend you on what you're doing. Thank you. Well, thank you. And I'm so sorry to hear about the lost your husband, but I certainly hope you are adjusting to life. I know it's not very easy. I can't imagine what it's like. Well, thank you. Yes, I lost my son in 2019 as well. He was my only child. So I just, I love the show, it just keeps me connected with sports and I love sports. So just thank you for what you do. You do a great job. Mary, you'd be well. And we will all be thinking of you. Thanks so much. You take care of yourself. What a tough message to hear there. Can't imagine. Legend is next. East coast baby what's going on? Legend. I'm feeling a ring about future. Whoo. Reach darn order of power Al by the nation at three total power, baby. I'm going to take this championship and it's going to kick us off and we're going to take another chance when we put that puffy at this place, baby. Hey, Paul Laird from Missouri. He's got to be the best Twitter guys. You had a Twitter. If I could share his tweets, I would, but I can't. Yeah, I wish he lay over boy Joe black hat brother, but that dude is a hilarious. He said of GM, it's ironic that ironic that an 80 year old man who claims to be 40 has the nerve because somebody flown. Whoo. Listen here, Jim. I never came on here and said I was Ted Williams. I never came on here and said I could beat Minnesota flats that I was better than Joe Namath. You're so fake Barbie is jealous. I pimp slap your ass, but crap flies everywhere. You sell centered insecure gutter rat. Let me tell you something else to do. So you know the point is clear. I know Tony Bennett may have left his heart in San Francisco, but it's clear to me today you left your balls in kindergarten dude. You don't want no part of the legend. I just put you in your place. So you know it. And for August, I got a degree at the department of correction, dude. A degree. All I ask. That's what I got a degree, and so don't you worry about it, brother. Don't you worry about it. And so I get off one more thing for you, Jim. This is my combat that end this round of the final four. Two one, two hours for you, brother. This comment, two words, one finger. Legend out. Short to the point, legend delivering a blow as we get to the final four of the caller bracket will update you on that in a couple of minutes. We still have a couple of guests remaining, including Louis Riddick, Aaron suttles at the top of the hour on the tide. But Lou will join us next to talk about the draft. You are listening to the Paul fine bomb Joe podcast. At our podcast, ESPN daily, we ask questions that reveal the deeper side of sports. Did you hear from a certain former president? "So Louis, I'm not gonna lie to you here, man. I am one of those people who felt great shouted Freud a joy at the pain of the Patriots when it seemed like that proverbial Mount Olympus was finally starting to crumble and it felt like finally, this nightmare, this dynasty might be over, but then here we are. It's November 18th, 2021, and it feels like I am the person crumbling, Louis, psychologically, because there they are on their mountain top again. Yeah, it can happen. And you know, and look, and I get it, man. Look, I get that people over the years started getting Tom Brady fatigue. Brady under center victory formation takes the snap falls to an Ian that'll do it when the New England Patriots have won. Bill Belichick petit. Will win his 6th Super Bowl as the head coach. New England Patriots Super Bowl fatigue. And they have tied an NFL record tied the Pittsburgh Steelers with 6 Super Bowl championships. Like God, just have someone else get in there. Please. But you know, I kind of take the other like the other approach to this. When I see sustained success like that, I don't get tired of it. I want more of it 'cause I want more time to learn it. I want more exposure to it because I'm like, isn't that what we? I don't know. It's what I'm after. I'm after sustained success like that in whatever profession it is or whatever it is that I'm doing. So there's a common ingredient in that kind of thing. This common threads in that kind of thing. And a lot of it, I mean, it has to do with accountability. It has to do with intellect and high level of intelligence in the particular field that you're that you're in. It has to do with resolve and stick to itiveness. And it does. And when you listen to Bill and Nick talk and you listen to them talk about just what really compromises high end achievers. What is their makeup? What is required? It's cool to me, man. It's really cool. Well, it's the thing that is also kind of amazing, right? Yeah. It's the thing of stuff that sounds like cliche when you are that successful actually become something like wisdom. And that is and that's something that is a hard pill to swallow for everyone else. Well, you know what? High end achievers obviously have consistently high performances over a long period of time. The only way you get that is because there's probably some repetitive things that you do that are non negotiables over and over and over and over again. And you know what, when things have to be repeated over and over and over, they kind of become cliches, right? It's just like, oh God, you're not just going to tell me the same thing, right? You're not going to say it's about hard work and dedication and perseverance and stick to it and intestinal fortitude, blah, blah, blah, but it's like, yeah. That's what it's about. That's the secret idiot, you know? It's not like, well, yeah, I'll be hard worker today, but you know what I need a break tomorrow. And that's going to be the that's got to be the key to long term. No, it's being unhinged enough to actually have the courage of your cliches. You know what? It's a great way of putting it. You're great with words, Pablo. That's a great way of putting it. One, I mean, some people are just born to have more horsepower than others. But it's that resolved to constantly tap into it and tap into it and tap into it and use it and just let it work to your advantage and seek others who are equally as smart if not smarter than you. So then you can become smarter and you have more tools in your toolkit with which to sustain your level of success in whatever it is that you're doing. I love that kind of thing. Those guys Bill Nick are maniacs for that kind of thing. They're constantly even at this point in this disjuncture in their careers. They're still looking for edges. They still ask other people. What do you see? What do you see? How could I better? What do you see? They still are asking for answers that it's uncommon dude, and it does become cliche like it's just like, oh God, don't tell me they're working all the time. Don't tell me it's just about her. Yeah, it is. Yeah, don't tell me you're onto Cincinnati. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Louis Reddick. Thank you for, you know, inviting us to your TED Talk, man. You appreciate it. You know, I always love talking to you, 'cause you just allowed me to just go off and it's actually a couple of cathartic dude. It really is, but Louis, I imagine that you ripped off your shirt about half an hour ago. This is lone sweater. You kidding me? This has been great though. I'm Pablo Toure. This is vin ESPN daily. "Texas just isn't but Usc and i wonder if they take a swing as crazy as this is gonna sound and it's going to sound crazy does usc go after urban meyer. Because they from what. I was told that they made an offer. And the higher ups to a certain degree level urban meyer and then it went all the way the top and it was next was vetoed. They did not want bring urban meyer into that current culture that everything. That's going on at usc. You take a swing for urban meyer. I guess you got to at least. Try bringing louis riddick the former defensive back and he's the analyst for monday night football next week monday night football lions at the packers the ravens next game sunday night hosting the chiefs. the raiders. Next game at the steelers on sunday and lewis joins us. Now lewis. If i missed the game and you were trying to summit up. Could you summit up Yeah just that. You couldn't put any kind of word limitation on me though you know what i mean. It'd be it'd be a little bit longer of a of a summary. But what a i mean damn. You saw a wild night. What this wild night I think the raiders for once really as long as they don't have anything unforeseen happened from an injury perspective more from a kobe perspective. I think they have the makings of a team. Especially on the data decide. That could really give them a respectable level of play. Unlike any defense. They fats maybe. John came back. And i think that's a big difference. I think with the with the ravens. I still think. I think they're going to be fine. They were playing so so much so you know at a deficit because of not knowing what the running back room. We're actually look like on game day. the line hadn't played very much during the preseason got they have a new right tack on the middle on the way we saw really struggled. They know now just what they're going to have to possibly do with that But i still think they're going to be okay. 'cause really i mean there. That game could have went either way. So i think they're going to be fine but i think i think the could really really have a decent team. They really could be. The key is going to be. That defense is derek. Carr the guy yeah. I've always believed that. And you know what the debate with him or surrounding him for his entire career. There's always something that's kind of puzzled me a little bit and i know you know in this started even before he even got to oak. I mean there was always been this. You know at first. It was just a ridiculous. Well you know. His brother wasn't very good and it's like well who who cares what does have to do with him. And then it was well since he struggled with some situations as far as Throwing the football against pressure and Fresno he's gonna struggle within the nfl's nah that but see though some those things followed him when he got the when he went to the pros. But if you look at his career objectively and look at how he stacks up against some of the best throwers in the nfl in critical situations whether it be fourth quarter comebacks third down completion percentage.

"I was firm on him being able to play but i watched a lot of him in college. Well in the nfl. You're still seeing lamar jackson. Made great plays. I just think that. I can't have him make all the place. He has a better chance of winning. Mvp this year because it feels like they don't have anybody now. Sammy watkins hollywood brown andrews like you have some receivers there but no running game. He leads them in passing and running. It he's gotta be a better passer to take the pressure off him trying to make something happen running. I just need those design. Plays for him. And we'll talk to louis riddick former defensive back. I know he's young. he's twenty four. Well he's gonna eventually start to slow down and that means there's a greater emphasis on what he does in the pocket and i'm not asking him to do wonders in the pocket. I'm just having. I want to take pressure off him having to use his legs. And i don't know when that happens but he can have those giant amick runs but you just can't have those fumbles and with no running backs there. Because i thought they were going to win that game. But i'm i'll give credit to the raiders. They did what they needed to do when they needed to do it but if but if they win. It's because lamar jackson if they lose. It's sort of because of lamar jackson. And i don't want to have that brett farve type situation. Because that was the case with far for a few years where he could win it and he could lose it. He could throw you five touchdowns or five interceptions with mark jackson. You're not sure exactly what you're going to get. Fumbles and he says..

Season's nfl comeback player of the year. We all know that incredible story. But i believe this was the first time in twenty five years you have not been playing football or rehabbing for football. So how did it all feel for you personally. Just being out there and not being out there. Yes you're right. It's been twenty five years. This fall that i haven't been doing football some fashion or another been in training camp incredibly different but Awesome i had a lot of people reach out to me a lot of like stanley france. You know this last week in mackay. We're thinking about you. How are you doing. And as honestly i. I'm so at peace with the way my career ended obviously grateful that i ever was able to make it back in to be doing what i'm doing and you know still be around the game in some other capacity. I still had butterflies this morning. So that was amazing and looking forward to this challenge. It's it's it's fun

"Are espn monday night. Football's louis riddick. You might know him from being a former raider as well. i'll also be joined by violator. The raiders super fan. Who recently made his way into the hall of fame. So make sure you guys hit. Subscribe to keep up with all of the good content. That i'm putting out here on this podcast and also follow along everything that we're doing on vegas nation dot com i. I'm gonna get into this interview. I had with louis riddick. We've talked about all angles of the monday night. Football game against the baltimore ravens. So let's get that going right now you so much for joining me today. Really appreciate the time. We've got a huge game coming up. Here raiders ravens. Big monday night. Football game percival. How excited are you to call this one as a former raider all every raider game is big for me. You know i don't really hide. I don't really hide from it. I kind of run towards the fact that. I've got such a special place in my heart for the raiders that's where my first arbour's board etc. I won't bore you with that. We're not all say is this though To get back out here after last year being out there in column buttons that week two against the saints at no fans to go back out here opening weekend against against the ravens one of the most exciting teams in the nfl for vegas start off their year playing them on monday night with fans opening weekend we saw one opening weekend was like for college. Football at you think is going to be for the nfl. Everything's gonna be vegas. I mean it's one it's vegas to. It's the raiders will most emotional fan bases in the nfl and for us on monday night. Football yeah that doesn't get any bigger than that. I'm sure you'll hear. My voice will be pretty quick pretty loud pretty fast. It's going to be have to calm myself down. But yeah i can't wait. I can't wait to hit the ground running for sure as somebody that has been coached under. Jon gruden how much do you feel like. A lot of people have talked about this test that he needs to pass this year by as far as getting through the playoffs and all of that are to the playoffs. Excuse me when you put that into perspective. Like how much is the focus on. What comes out of gruden this year when you start with game. One here the ravens. I think i think it's a. It's a big big factor. I think it's justified that there's a lot of attention being paid to the improvement that this team needs to make in not eventually but right away like now okay. They waited long enough. And i think in particular in particular on the defensive side of the ball. That's where the big jump has to come. I mean this is what john's third different coordinator now This is has been achilles heel of his sincere returned to the right organization. They've had a ton of draft capital at their disposal to go ahead and fix that side of the football. They've thrown all kinds of money that at that side of the ball got rid of arguably one of the best raider homegrown drafted defenders potentially in the history of that organization when they sent khalil. Mack packing chicago. They've never been able to replace anybody with anybody close to that kind of caliber. That kind of impact on the football field in they need to. They need to show some market improvement on that side of the football in on the offense aside. Look i think obviously. That's john specialty. I think they played when the ball on that side of the bow i think. Derek carr is someone doesn't get enough was shown enough appreciation for how good he actually is. Our brand of jacobsz helped brennan acres. Josh jacobs is healthy. He is one of the one of the most electric ovens to playmakers in the nfl. There in waller's spectacular. He's underpaid already. Okay as far as his new contract is concerned. Henry rubs needs to be better. Brian edwards has to be better This offense align heck three fifths of it has been revamped that better be better because they got rid of some good players on that side of the ball on that on that side of the offensive line. So there's a lot of question marks headed into this game. You're playing against a playoff caliber team. You're playing against a team. That has an mvp caliber quarterback in a team. That has its own. Points approve and hassle championship. Dna with john rebel. So there's a lot of things right out of the gate that they has to have answers for but that's the nfl when you're depending on how much john really makes. You're making ten million dollars a year. You're ever ten year contract with great power comes great responsibility right. Isn't that what they say about spiderman or whatever it is that's how it works man so he knows it he no. He's been around game long enough. So let the games begin. And i love what you were talking about with lamar jackson. I think a lot of that goes under the radar as well like as far as being this. Mvp caliber quarterback. I don't think he gets enough of the flowers if you will. However the ravens offense took a little bit of a hit which ak dobbins and now justice hill being out for the year so as a run. Heavy offense what do you make of how they will adjust here in week. One with kind of a short time to work on that. Yeah i think you know the the dna the team has is going to change their gusset. Which is going to have to be. That guy is going to have to be. The dunes really carries the load memorial gonna have to be the guy who carries the low when it says time the elephants alive the play out of its mind In that's a little bit of a question mark for them because they have a new right. Tackle one hundred dylan away. Who comes up from. Pittsburgh owns the left tackle right. Tackle ronnie stanley. They're left tackle. Who's an all pro caliber players coming off of injury. No more morsel janda. They're gonna have center. It's there's some question marks for them as far as what they have kind of their foundation build on. We just don't know how strong foundation is for them. So that's a question. Mark for them. And i think really though the big key is. How much better is the passing game. Grabby for baltimore. We know they'll build run. How much better is the passing game gonna be much better mortgage to be how much territory people are going to be because the guy who they drafted the really take their game to the next level in rashad bateman. He's on i r and sammy watkins. Who people vegas no from his time. Casey you know he's a tremendous athlete. Tremendous talent has been someone that you can count on from a durability standpoint. So it'll vegas has questions. Ravens have questions but the ravens kind of know who they are and know what has gotten to this point. Baker still doesn't really know who they are. I don't know if the raiders. No they are since john has been back. That's part of the problem. And i think that's what fans are sitting there going okay. Look that's not enough time. Let's show us who you are now. And they're gonna have a of eyeballs on next monday night because it's only game in town game on tv. Anything about monday night right. So but that's what you want. You want the attention when you're in the nfl. You wanna play in the biggest games here it is. Someone has drawn a lot of attention from the fans. Jonathan abram a first round pick and people are waiting to see what happens here in terms of production with him and Like you talked about with sammy watkins. Is he going to be durable enough piece for this defense. Be able to sustain it. So whatever you made a jonathan abram particularly with gus bradley coming in kinda.

Thank you really appreciate that. Louis thank you. Let's jump into it which which performance from this weekend Sticks with you. All the most louis riddick man honestly all of them stick with me because i really think this draft class has the potential to be special as long as the teams that they went to do their work and make sure that they take care of these young players. Bring them along with the proper speed bringing them along with the with the level of competence of the coaching staff. That is serpent. He's got the restart potential. I mean i d these guys on. I know it's the first preseason game didn't look i. I was impressed by their body. Language their poise. Some big plays did hit. I think you know right out of the gate. Look i know how. Complicated new england's offense is and what mac was able to do particularly in the second half of their of their preseason game as far as going hurry up no huddle calling plays at the line of scrimmage changing protections running that sophisticated passing game. I thought that was. I thought that was special Just in obviously had a lot of fanfare going into his his appearance in chicago. And i think asked lettuces them was on display the unique play making doing outside. The pocket was on display. Right out of the gate. exact wilson. He just looks like he belongs. I understand what you're a jet fan. You understand what the expectation is. They they they want a hero so ban in new york. And i think again as long as they do right by and take care of the other fifty two spots in the rest of the organization. It'd be good to go. I just listened to you know trae. Let's talk to you before before. He was drafted. I went up to north dakota's dow's up in fargo for his pro day. I got a chance to spend some time with. That kid is flat out unique. He's a unicorn as a person star. The person he went to the perfect place. You saw the potential that he has. I saw people making some big deals out of some of the some statistics. Outside of the big play. Hit for a touchdown people realize now. He had three drops that were absolute dimes. Right on the money. Receivers flat out drop. He's gonna be he's going to be good. You're going to see him sooner rather than later. And trevor lawrence. He starts fumbling the football and he then he's standing in the pocket looking like big tall rookie. Dan marino. I mean i'm not saying body type. Wise koi delivery with the ball jumps out of his hands. You know kind of a loss. These kids man. I'll tell you what and i know this. It's early okay. But this is the fun part for me. The projection part of this quarterbacks fail a lot of players fail more players. Fail in the nfl. Because people don't do do right by them. Organizationally and i think this group right here all of them have the potential to be special and i think what will determine the success failure of these kids absent some kind of boneheaded decision they make off the field or some kind of freak injury is the organization's messing them up. Because i think these guys have the potential to be one of those draft classes like we talk about the two thousand four draft class like we talk about the great. Let's what was at eighty three. We that that they had the potential that ten fifteen years from now. We're talking about this class that way. If these organizations take care of loose ridicule on the rich eisen show of course now the the ultimate question is the when. When do we see them. You know Even though again. I'm genuinely nervous. The trevor lawrence might not be doing enough to be named the star in jacksonville florida. So he could just play massad zach. Wilson's gonna get the gig right from jump. There's no question about that. The other guys. Okay with jimmy. Garoppolo being in san francisco and having already taken this team to a super bowl. I understand you could say that others took them. But he was the quarterback of that team. And then you've got also In new england with cam newton sitting there and if anybody sitting in your house bella check in a what a tough decision for check and bill checks like how about brady and bledsoe holding my beer on that front. So let's play that one aside as well the one that fascinates me as chicago because dalton is new there. It's it's not like he's got any sort of skin in the game in that locker room with with the his teammates and fields. Look the way that he did if he does that against the bills even against against the bills twos i understand. That's a tough assignment against the rams on a sunday night on nbc. donald ramsey. But what do you think about field. Starting week one the bears just just rip the band aid off and just going. What do you think that idea lewis. I think it'll be. They wouldn't be shocking. And i don't necessarily feel as though.

"louis riddick" Discussed on The Rich Eisen Show

"We'll see what he does in preseason week number two but preseason week number one that was very impressive and do that again matt nagy can just come out and say okay. We'll put andy dalton out there on sunday night football. That's what we'll do. We'll put out there on sunday night. Football against the rams as they open up so stadium. Let's do that. You could also say we've got you know pump. The brakes on justin feels a little bit. Let him sit back there. I don't know does he need to. I kinda play poorly in preseason week to just even this out or you know because if he plays well again against buffalo expectations now are just going to be. even higher. Expectations are going to be high. No matter what it's just again. What is matt nagy do. Do you start the kid or not. And if you don't what are you waiting for. Okay you gonna. Tom savage him. You're going to play in the first half like bill. O'brien four no. You gotta start them. And that's the end of that and that's the end of that and that's the end of it a look. The bears can't replicate what they did in kansas city because alex smith and andy dalton i don't think are the same guy. Alex smith had already had few years. With andy reid and that team. And you don't just walked in the door louis riddick. Let's talk to him about this very subject when we come back ian rapoport my colleague from the nfl media group. Top of our number two. What is going on shawn watson. dak had one of the first ever. I've done this for twenty something years. Now i'm so lucky i've done. Nfl network for eighteen years. The old precautionary arrived never really heard that one before. Never heard of that one before. What's going you didn't get one while you were no didn't get one of them. Never have got one of them. I don't want to be in that too. If i don't have to charge a crazy. The buzzing the clicking claustrophobia. Now let's just do that just to be sure. Yeah let's go. Let's go reach out to the yankees and rangers medical staffs. Let's just be sure. It's not a setback. This is the weirdest thing ever. I mean this is the tweet. It's from the cowboys. It's not a setback. And it's not a reason to worry but qb dak prescott planning on getting another mri. Okay if they had just taken out the but but there were there were they have had. Arnie had arnold track. That it's not a set-back should had schwarzenegger track that tweet. Whose father what does he do. Please hottest that. And then the newest member of cbs this morning your current emmy award winning raining emmy award winning studio analyst in the sports world. Good morning football. This guy is more hyphens than Julia louis dreyfuss now here we go. Nate burleson will join us in our number. Three also overreaction monday. I might have already. Orient overreacted about justin fields at revisit. That an our number two things that we missed that every day. I appreciate that things that we that's the royal we. Let's take come back. We'll be here to answer our questions. About what the hell we just saw. Preseason week number one in full. That's next right here on the rich eisen show. I've been doing the draft a bit. Trae and one of my favorite aspects about is the journey and how journeys are are crowned in a way with opportunity knocking. And that's the road in front. I love those stories. How did you get to north dakota state trae. Lance marketing was a little different. I guess probably early. In my junior year i got switch. You know kind of on the recruiting boards or whatever you wanna call it from quarterback athlete. And that's when that whole kind of ibs started that. I wasn't a quarterback at that point. I had already been recruited by no. It's going to say to the quarterback fell in love with you know the the conversations about planning a different position. Where we're kinda fast wasn't really interested in it. I knew the quarterback believing in myself and north dakota state. Obviously i wanted to have this opportunity to be where i'm at right. Now gimme the north dakota state and seeing the expectation is winning every single game and winning national championships I don't want to go to school and hopes to play for a bowl game. Well i mean you know. I don't normally like to ask Somebody who's getting ready to be drafted and about their recruiting process and asking about to read their. I guess scouting sheet in a way. But i'm unfamiliar with why somebody would consider you not a quarterback prospect as you're getting ready to go Into college football. What what were were you. Why why were you not considered a quarterback prospect trae. Yeah it was Really similar actually kinda to the feedback. I hear now as far as negative Just didn't throw the ball enough. Didn't play enough games You know we ran. Were fairly run. Heavy offense. I'm really similar to what i do not to say. You know probably through the ball. Twenty times game And it wasn't anything passover consistently Went to a small school. Didn't play very much competition So that's kind of the really similar like you know as you know what i hear right now but again. It's it's just the things that i can't control. You're still hearing that right now. Literally because you're you're potentially on the verge of being a top five quarterback drafted player in the national football league. And i'm wondering because there's so much talk about shoulder. Chips and chips on shoulders these days. Do you have one because of all this trae. Yeah i mean. I like for people wrong. You know what i love to do. I think just my being a small town being from you. Know kinda the middle miller. It's what i've done my whole life and it's kind of i guess what i love to do But excited like i said for this opportunity and to be able to staff people you know. Organization believes in the and wants me.

Kevin Durant Reminded the World That He's Capable of Winning

"Then is this competition over before it's even begun anyone make sense of what they said in chicago. We'll find out as we get up with you. Starting right now delighted. You're here on. Wednesday greenie grouchy on when our studios in the seaport of football conversation. Coming your way in colluding jam saturday ready to go today. Mike tannenbaum ready to go today. Louis riddick and dan orlovsky will join us. But there's only one place to begin on this morning. Spectacular night from kevin durant and the brooklyn nets game five against milwaukee. The story early chains guarding it out making the return from a hamstring. He would play most of the night he would struggle particularly first half gophers six from the poor with two turnovers presence. Team to lift is deep. He was out there doing good but the nets would struggled mightily in the first half down. Sixteen into the third week and kevin durant would say this is about to become line night here. We got durant in the lane. Plays it up in good news just getting started ensuing possession durant in transition. This was his running mate last night. Jeff green seven eight from three twenty seven points nets creeping back into it. They're down nine final minute of the third durant. Good the six point game into the fourth quarter under nine to play now with into the rain using the screen. My goodness that's their first lead since it was two nothing just over five minutes now. What a game nets lead by one the rain mid range over middleton yes. That's why three a buck twenty to go down by two janas goes to the line again down by two crowd smelling blood. I one no road. He'd make a second to one point game under a minute ago. Still one point track clock winding down. Here's the biggest moment of the night. They've got him trapped two seconds on the clock one second of knocked down. Kevin durant could not be stopped. That's up by four thirty seconds ago. Mets

What Is Wrong With Carson Wentz:

"Philly eagles and seahawks and birds and other birds only one type heading south carson wentz again trying to prove a starter status again coming up short another interception adding to his league-leading totally was also six. Times is back backup. Jalen hurts saw just to blaze last night. We'll have much more on him in just a second but first eagles get the win. Here's carson winston after last night's loss to seattle. There's been a lot of talk and speculation. You possibly getting benched or something like that. I mean does that way on you at all. Do you think about that at all. And that occurred during the game. Any of that. Come up. i mean. I said that last week you know this is what you sign up for as a quarterback member. Since you're a kid you know you're prepared for for any of those nothing's ever guaranteed and so for me i. I don't think about that though. I just try and go out and be the best player. I can be in practice. Prepare my tail off. Compete my tail off and You know hopefully we can get this thing turned around but I think about those things. I might give it everything i got every time i step on the field. I think i said the eagles went. Obviously the seahawks won there and carson wentz with the barrage of questions about his plane time plane status plane brandon start with you did carson wentz play well enough to keep his starting job moving forward. Well i mean i hell. Mary was nice. i mean how. How often do we see that at all. He but outside of that. Mary no he. He didn't play well. The coaches the coach. Well defense didn't play well enough. This is one of those years. Nick where everybody needs to be on notice when you play like this and miss division everyone should be on notice and then you can go back to last couple years outside of their super bowl. Run it's always been a struggle for this organization. If i'm the owner. I am looking at everything. I'm looking at the general managers there's other gaps. There's other holes on this team is not just carson wentz. it's also the linebacking core and it's not that the linebacking core isn't playing. Well they're just not very good they don't have any debt so with that mind like you gotta talk about. Who's making those decisions. And you got to hold them accountable. So this entire organization. Mic should be on notice at listen. I think might garafolo is the one who reported this morning that he can no longer report. That doug peterson is totally save. Despite being just three years removed from actually winning a super bowl something carson wentz is not able to say. He did what that means for our rose. One of the front office will see. And you're right brandon. This is a team that has a multitude of issues but their biggest issue is this in twenty twenty the worst starting quarterback in football now. That's not a statement of opinion. That's just if according to the numbers we can show them. The worst fulltime starting quarterback in the nfl is carson wentz and the spat back that up one hundred percent. He's thirty fifth worse in everything. And there's only thirty two teams folks and he is a turnover machine he runs into sacks he doesn't make the big throws anymore. There's been one game all year long that he didn't turn the ball over and in that game. He fumbled twice. They just happened to recover them so it does feel however wildlife carson wentz might be the one with the most job security because of the contract. He's been signed to based on performance. You have a twenty eight a guy that's going to be twenty eight this month. He's in year five and he's playing the worst football of his career. That is more than a sign for his future. But do you think that's all of his fault nick. Because morning i wake up. And i make a little menu and i called my my kitchen. Where do my work hot take cafe and on today's menu. Here's what we had. You can make your choice. Everyone you can have bad coaching with a side of bad. Play design you can have bad decision. Making with a side of bad throws you could have bad wide receivers and bad protection. Those your options at the take cafe for me. I want went bad protection. I went with the six acts. We're not his fault. The league leading forty six x also. Not his fault he also had some throwaways there and i was watching the game last night neck and i was like oh the one when he was chased out of the pocket to avoid an intentional grounding. He threw it to the first down. Even though it came up short i was like. Oh that's a. That's a good play. That's a quarterback you can build around. I'm like what what is happening. I'm calling a throw to save even intentional grounding a good play and he could say like. I don't put it on the offensive line. Louis riddick mentioned it last night when they went to the super bowl best offensive line surprise surprise. Takeout carson wentz put. Nick foles doesn't matter to me. It starts with the offensive line. I know there's a lot of side dishes but it's an offensive line thing for me.

NFL players approve new CBA, runs through 2030

"Radio one big measure that allows the NFL to move forward with business as usual is the approval of the new CBA time for straight talk brought to you by straight talk wireless players this weekend voting in favor of the new collective bargaining agreement which means there will be labor peace for the next decade it also means that we will see a seventeen game scheduled as early as twenty twenty one the vote was close closer than many had expected ESPN analyst Damien woody clearly there's a lot of work going on as far as it relates to this new CBA deal you're talking about a difference with two thousand roughly two thousand please holding only fifty votes sixty votes were the difference on what this new CBA passing another narrative was you had the big money players you know saying no and rank and file is going to be it's going to follow through but that wasn't the case that was clearly not the case but it's both clearly there was a lot of racquetball player they did not agree with that with this new CBA also the union has some work to do CDA passes this weekend but as you heard passed by a margin of just sixty votes ESPN front office insider Louis Riddick yeah it's one of the situations where obviously you can you can tell that there's a lot of the desert there's a lot of uncertainty when you have the you know a boat that was separated by less than a hundred boats as far as accepting this new deal not accepting his new deal obviously there were people not just the top one percent of your top five percent with the rank and file as well that we're not comfortable with this you're talking about making deals like this but I understand that was part of the rank and file one point time and understand what our media hundred thousand dollar increase would mean but I you know I also believe that you know there really wasn't a chance of there being a work stoppage in twenty twenty they're gonna play games this year regardless and I think you know having been on the front office side of things and I've been around contract negotiators for the better part of the past two years of my post playing career twenty two years my post playing career when you have leverage you have time on your side the smart ones are the ones who try to lock you into long term deals early and entice you with cash flow immediately because they know they're going to make it back on the on the on the backside they're gonna make out it sounds like that's exactly what the owners got the players to do and I think once you start breaking it down and talking to people who really understand how CBA negotiations once before but the revenue sharing split actually really is and how revenue is going to explode once now owner start negotiating TV deals your movie centered on some one time prior to the two thousand eleven CBA that we were basically net net fifty fifty partners in now we're forty seven percent partners and we're going to forty eight point five percent part how did that were not actually fifty fifty partners anymore when we basically are the capital where the human capital and tried the game and we signed a deal that with the Europe tour early and we didn't have really any reason to do so because they were going to stop us from playing really this year anyway so there's a lot of questions I'm sure and that that right there it looked like it in the wake of both played itself out we really didn't get into this look man I mean I'm I'm I'm happy that he won because football is my life and that's you know I everything I have I owe to playing the game at the highest level inflated manifold the deal making deal making and owners are very good deal making I think they showed once again you're talking about the vote we have a lot of social reaction the Twitter reaction early on on the show in the ravens Marlon Humphrey tweeted that five hundred players didn't vote on the CVA we have the numbers last that's about right what do you say to that that's ridiculous man knocking Buhari's thing it's American will know what happens when you know you get into a situation involved voting and then you just don't even participate but then you're one of the people were complaining about how many things turn out if it doesn't turn out the word benefits you will you have no right to say anything that is one of the most important things outside of obviously what is going on a global basis right now which believe me I've gotten my attention and everyone else is but as far as your profession is concerned what is more important now than a ball players and his cast your vote one way or another educate yourself about how this new CD is going to affect you tell me five hundred plus people dissent I'm either on vacation I don't have time but you know I don't like don't we are you kidding me that's amazing to me that that the medically non participants when it when it comes to a democratic partisan voting there's just no excuse for his non otherwise don't don't say a word please don't say a word whether or not this is good or bad you don't they work if you have no you have no voice anymore you just elect not to participate that's very very disappointed new CDA passing by sixty votes with five hundred members

Bengals at the Combine in Indianapolis, taking a closer look at Joe Burrow

"With us here from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where we will be all week so much going on. I'm waiting next with Adam. Schefter Louis Riddick Todd mcshay and Mike Tannenbaum just to catch you up right now. Here's what's happening today in Indianapolis. It will be a very busy week. At Five o'clock eastern though owners are expected to meet players to talk about the new CBA which could expand the playoffs and move to a seventeen game regular season. We've got forty seven. Nfl head coaches and GMT. We'll be talking today. You're also hear from SEC. Standouts Joe Borough and to a ton of Aloha who also addressed the media earlier today. Jonesboro put on an absolute show as you know on route to a national championship for Lsu setting an FBI. Single season record with sixty touchdown passes and Ditto. While completing a whopping seventy six percents of his passes and not only that but bro won the heisman trophy in dominant fashion receiving a record ninety point seven percent of the first place votes here. Our previous comments from Joe Borough on February seventeenth during a reception. For the Davey. O'brien award. He had this to say I do have leveraged the Bengals have their process and I have my process. We haven't even gotten to the combine yet. There's a lot of things that happened. Leading up to the draft. A lot of information gathered bras. Mother Robin shot down the idea. Her son does not want to play for the bengals. Saying we have no idea where that came from. It's a story out there that has created that doesn't have any substance at least from our perspective here Hasbro earlier today here at the combine. Of course I want to be the first pick. That's that's every kid's dream you know I've worked really really hard for this opportunity and I'm blessed to be in this position. I'm a ball player. Whoever picks me on my go show up? How play whoever for forever dressing? You know. I'm just not going to be presumptuous. About what they WANNA DO I. It's the draft. You guys have been covered it for a long time and you never know what's going to happen so we played a month longer than everyone else and everyone else's been training a month longer than us you know. I wanted to put. I don't I didn't think I'd be able to put my best foot forward here at the combine so I wanted to wait till pro day had another whole month of training and just be the best that I could be when everyone when. Everyone's eyes are on me. You know coming in. If you're the number one pick the teen is picking number one. Is there for a reason? So you're going to have to come in. There's going to be ups and downs and you've got to stay steady through the process. Our research tells us about Joe. Borough is his own man. He's not going to be talked into saying things for other people's benefits so if that's what he said. That's that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to know him getting to meet him through. The process haven't been able to sit down with them yet. But we've got that on the horizon. We'll talk more about Joe. Boroughs plans to hold off throwing here at the combine. But might I'll start with you in terms of do you want? Do you not want to play for the being. You have any issues at all with where we landed at least at this point. No I mean as I said last week Joe Borough at the end he does not have leverage. The bengals have the first pick in the draft. If they want to draft. Joe Joe Borough. That's where he's GonNa go now with that. Said I think it's incumbent upon sack Taylor in the Bengal organization to create the Right Environment. Where he could come in and they could build something sustainable and truly transformative so. I think where we wended. Wendy is appropriate last week. He could've handled that better but to Joe Boroughs credit. I think they tweak things I think they're in a good spot now. He's been well-coached past week. Tower doesn't it. Yeah and Adema to your Do All your contacts. It appears that borough likely young he's projected pick. I still think that's where the bengals ultimately go. And they're sitting there and that's about this a team that needs somebody to revitalize that franchise and they are expected to look to trade Andy Dalton at some point this off season and so when you're sitting there in division with Lamar Jackson there in Baltimore think that they know that they have to get somebody in there. That's going to put some points on the Board Baker Mayfield Cleveland and this is going to be the pick for the Cincinnati bengals. Even Joe was considering trying to exercise some kind of leverage really the only leverage you have is withhold your services and not playing not report even if he was thinking along those lines. Let's say he's doing a deep dive trying to figure out exactly. Just what the Cincinnati offer as far as developing me as a quarterback. Could you blame him? Could you really blame him for wanting to dig? Deep on exactly what? What does the future going to look like during over the course of my rookie contract with this football team would exactly? What exactly is Mike Brown's commitment to go ahead and building out this roster around me because we all know a lot of what's going to happen to him has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with everything that's going to be around him. Just look at the past three or four drafts. And how certain players have benefited from going to certain to certain teams? Just look at l a look at the difference between jar rookie year in his second year. Sean mcvay came in. It flipped his rookie year. People were saying Jared Goff to Canada. All of a sudden his second year is like. Oh wait a minute. Maybe he's not so bad you couldn't blame him. If that was a thought Lewis to that point I also think an opportunity. If you're Zach Taylor to say hey what's happened in the past. It's irrelevant we're going to myself with you and we're going to build something great and we can't worry about what's happened before we have a lot of work to do. But if I'm the bengals if I have a hey coach Taylor. That's worked with quarterbacks. Like you mentioned Jared Goff Joe Boroughs Billy and character. That's a great opportunity for the bengals. Sino three things one. Is that if something were to go on with. The bengals is not going to happen in public and this has been addressed in the past week if it's going to happen behind the scenes so whatever we hear from this point on. Don't even don't even look at it. Don't think about it because it has nothing to do with with what is going on behind the scenes. The second thing is this guy's different cab he beats. It goes a Beatles drummer. He doesn't care what anyone else has done. In the past what everyone else is GonNa do in the future? He's going to do what's best for Joe Borough but the third thing I know about him is he's a football guy he's his. His brothers played linebacker at safety at Nebraska. His Dad's a almost four decades coach in football. He's a football guy at its core. He's from Ohio. Obviously I think when it's all said and done he winds up going in Cincinnati if he's number one overall pick but again. If it's GonNa Happen it's GonNa Happen. Not In the media. It's GonNa happen behind the scenes again. Joe Bro not expected to throw on Thursday. He said he just wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal. Sam Darnold Kyla Murray. The last two years have opted not to throw here at the combine as well. What did make headlines on Sunday? Oddly enough pros hand measurements the measurable quarterbacks took place on Sunday on the smaller side. Love listen here's what he said after it was suggested his aunt size was small considering retirement after. I was informed that we slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts while he's got good company because here's what Super Bowl fifty four. Mvp Patrick Mahomes had to say who had just slightly larger hands than did borough my small Andrew doing great so far all right he should say believe in yet. Here's borough earlier today addressing his hands. Yeah I mean these measurements you can. You can take so much from them if it's a glaring issue on film with turnovers. Yeah it's probably an issue but I didn't have a lot of fumbles or anything like that so I just tried to make a little joke out of it I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to talk about. Measurements and analyze. The measurements like played to play football. So that's what I'm GONNA do. I look we're not gonNA make too much of this question. Well yet about what? They actually do what they're actually measuring here so worry not. We've got a ruler. We've got Louis at. I mean really what you're really trying to do is just trying to measure the expense of someone and they put it down on the ground and you actually hear about guys actually doing hand exercises to stretch their hand as wide as possible although when you're grabbing a football you're actually going to measure from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Pinky here and this is hard because this is a hard rule and you can't really get good accurate measuring you look tired type by just under nine right. Look I'll give you a non center's Oh that's attention and would have actually done something with my. I mean what's interesting when you watch the tape of Joe Borough? There are situations where people come from behind strip him when he's trying to move up in the pocket and run. I mean that's going to happen if you have nine if you have ten inches so I mean it's not a glaring obvious problem as far as him on the football field and that's why I think it's really. It's just going to be something that will hopefully wind up forgetting about certain the biggest thing is and you know this with all of these drills you know as well. Mike you go back to the tape and you're trying to find something after the fact that says okay. Now I'm going to look specifically at these things so you're gonNA look cold weather rain and then ball security and Joe Boroughs as good as any college quarterback you're ever going to see in the pocket in terms of two hands on the ball and protecting the ball. I saw him in two thousand eighteen the last weekend. In September against Ole Miss. You can go back and watch the tape. My suit was soaking wet when I did the open of that game. It was pouring rain driving rain in anyone who says it doesn't rain in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is lying to you. Because it poured and he completed seventy two percent of his throws with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in that game. So you go back to the tape and you try to look at these things and what the tape tells you is. He's just fine. You know I had a theory here. I have an interesting experience with hand size so I was forced out in two thousand eight. We were we trade for Brett Farve and just as a fan of sport. I can't wait to go out to the first practice and watch Brett farve throw. There's nothing physically imposing about breath and he goes out there and he's throwing Abe I've ever seen and I ask them like what is the value. Where's this philosophy comes from it? He said you know what Mike I have long fingers and I actually couple of football the way a lot of people throw a softball. I could actually be over the top and that's where I get all my philosophy from just watching my practice. It was unbelievable to watch though. I know as Lewis show. There's a tradition of how we measure hands but finger. Length is actually an underrated aspect of playing quarterback so far so far small hands but long fingers and you know what my pinky and all the time strong throwing football pictures of the five. It's easily the least important finger in the hand and I can't remember it ever being a big factor. It's all there in the grip. The pinky to me doesn't matter. It's archaic. How we're measuring the quarterback's hand span now with that. Said there's thirty four quarterbacks in the last fourteen years who have been drafted that have had hands of nine inches and smaller and really only two of them had any sort of Sustained Success Ryan. Tannehill is one of them and Jared. Goff is the other. That's it so there are thirty two out of thirty four. Who have failed. But are we going to say that he's going to the Joe Boroughs? Not GonNa have success because his hands tells me that the reason for their failure wasn't because they were nine inches weight.

Chargers, Melvin Gordon And Ten Million Dollars discussed on SportsCenter AllNight

"Time Joseon adders are reporting the agent for Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has requested a trade because charges are not backing off their offer of ten million per season which represents a roughly twice the salary schedule to make in the final year of his rookie deal they remain at a record you know not wanting to report because he feels like he's valuation is higher than ten million when you have to put that in the context knowing that Todd Gurley right now is what at fourteen point three lay beyond del thirteen one David Johnson at thirteen million my understanding is that the comp that in being out there right now is that David Johnson and Melvin Gordon are similar in terms of how they should be paid and they are definitely still at a gap between those numbers and so right now he's going to stay out until the situation gets resolved nice of Gordon toll charges that if he does not receive a new deal that's acceptable obviously he'll sit out demanded trade he's followed through on both threats Louis Riddick Damien woody Chris Mortensen with insight on how this plays out in if Gordon has any leverage in this hold out he doesn't have the leverage because the charges obviously feels so his replacements is number two or number three players like Austin Meckler Justin Jackson will give them enough of a of a level of production a percentage of production may not equal what number will give them enough to where they have enough other weapons on the field to make up the difference and they're just going to go with the you know one year at a time type of philosophy and if he doesn't like it then they're gonna trade I think he's out on the football team before the regular season starts and hopefully he can find that one suitor who not only is willing to pay a high price to get him but is also willing to pay him long term which is what he's after after lands a former running back and running back coach and the one thing I know by if the land he's very confident that he can find another running back you mention it already the fact that Philip rivers in the last year for the of Joey Bosa is coming up they have players in the pipeline so to think that Melvin Gordon's going to get you know the levy on bail early heard Todd Gurley absolute because are guaranteed a lot of people looking to toggle the contract and is like wool we don't want any part of that so okay Melvin Gordon is in a situation where he's not gonna get paid by the Los Angeles Chargers and more likely he's going to be sued no with another team actually ten million dollars is the charges off and that's kind of where the value him and they do have other contracts to get done and they're not a cash rich team we've established that for different reasons that without getting into details Melvin Gordon's only played one full season out of a source for any is a good back is he an elite back you can argue one way or the other but the bottom line is the charges are going to get permission for Bilbo is represented to go get a trade they want to control the situation he's not levy on bills he has a contract levy on bill did not have a contract last year so it's not a similar situation ten million dollars is the charges off and that's kind of where the value him and they do have other contracts to get done and they're not a cash rich team we've established that for different reasons that without getting into details but Melvin Gordon's only played one full season of the source for any is a good back is he in the league back you can argue one way or the other but the bottom line is the charges are going to get permission for Bilbo is represented to go get a trade they want to control the situation he's not levy on bills he has a contract levy on bill did not have a contract last year so it's not a similar situation ultimately I think the charges feeling and we talked about this yesterday and make your Damian Moore and and the lens perspective is they do fill like if necessary if gore insanity assigned eventually then you can put them on the market as a team it is the one with the agent do the shopping Eric Williams covers the Chargers for ESPN provided this take on why the charger should find a resolution with Gordon if they have aspirations to make a run in the playoffs he was on Spain and company yeah I mean it's basically a stand off at this point you know Gordon wants to be paid amongst the highest running backs normally he thinks his his statistics over the last couple years point to that he should be pay you know like David Johnson girly let me del the Chargers obviously disagree on that date they are pricey them again according to reports and and I believe they're accurate about ten million per year you mean another structure the contract how much of that is guaranteed how much that is fully guaranteed when he would receive that type of money so those are things that are going on in terms of negotiations to try to get Melvin in the camp I did the things that are promising if both sides want to get a deal done Melvin Gordon wants to play for the charge the Chargers want Melvin Gordon the place so you would think at some point there there would be a compromise that could be made to get Mel in the camp because he remains to be seen you know Melvins representation that told the Chargers that you know that they would demand a trade at the contract demands aren't aren't made the charges are willing to trade him they basically haven't control for the next two to three years due to make five point six million in the following years rookie deal and they get franchise in another couple years no but it is important in terms of where the charge you want to go in the post season they can win games without knowing the crew that last year they want **** when no one was injured the issue is is can they want simple without melon and I think the answer probably is no and so I think that does give me a little bit of leverage yeah well he might want to look Gordon at levy on bell scenario the now jets running back doesn't second guess himself for sitting out last season a decision that cost them fourteen million in salary he did say you wish you could have told fantasy owners some type of way to not draft him or pick him never made it on the field

Get excited! Only 50 days until 2019 NFL season starts

"His Well well well. I think we've made it today. Marks the first day of training camp for not one but four teams the broncos Raven particles and seahawks and his team now Jaguars quarterback Nick foles joins the show he'll chair his expectations for his first season at the helm in Jacksonville Seville and Hugh the countdown clock. Today marks the fifty day mark until the start of a brand new N._F._l.. Season and we covered the fifty they storylines between this happy to have you with us as we mark the fifty day mark between now and the start of a new N._F._l.. Season I'm Wendy Next Bill Gates Victor Cruz and Louis Riddick and we're going to look at the fifty biggest storylines that will face over the course of the next fifty days and none more pressing says training camp against today at least for for four teams which players Lewis might we not see show up to training camp. Why think to to really that headline villier being cloudy? Melvin Gordon in particular has signed his franchise tender. We don't really know what's going to go on with him as far as when he will report if he's going to you know he'll report at some point or the regular season Starts Melvin Gordon. He's one of these situations where he wants a long term deal. You'RE GONNA play on his fifth year option. He wants to secure is long term financial future right now nope as all running back Zeke Elliot who you saw brief clip there also in that clip right there. I mean he's a guy who has two years left that he can play unders rookie contract. I mean these running backs right now. They feel the accelerated sense of urgency to try and get their long-term deals deals done because they know teams are going younger and cheaper younger and cheap way running back and they understand why and these guys know. They're not going to be fooled into thinking that you can that. They have to prove themselves before they get paid because once they proved themselves a lot of times teams won't pay them. It's a whole different discussion to talk about sort of resetting that running back mark but there is no question that's where we are and that's the reality those players are having to work within right now. Let me ask you this. We've we've seen a number of quarterbacks who are also in line or looking for a contract extension victor who gets one. I think Dak Prescott mainly because obviously his age. She's the youngest of the crew. I mean when you look at Tom Brady as well as Philip rivers. He's the youngest quarterback out of that group that we're talking about. Obviously these other two are phenomenally more accomplished than than that Prescott is at this moment Eh Dak Prescott given his statistics given his age. I think he gets done. I I think the other two guys obviously get extensions maybe much smaller in years because of their as and just kind of give them they've earned that year to year kind of thing and extend them for not too much tom longer but I think that gets paid out of these and when he talked about his other two of course talking about Tom Brady and Philip rivers both of whom will likely say pudding continue playing for the team a little bit different right. I mean the threat of those players to party and go in somewhere else feels unlikely at at this point. Both of them want to get a probably two or three year extension done demet not necessarily conclude their career but it prolongs the current tenure with their teams more familiarity there as compared to Dak Prescott who for the first time and perhaps last time

Kareem Hunt apologizes, says NFL never interviewed him about assault

"You know, it's been a tough time for man. I'm extremely embarrassed. Because of that video I last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, the videos disgusting, like we I hope we it's being spoon fed to us. This is disgusting. And this is the unfortunate part is it always seems like we need a video to believe these kind of acts are possible in these situations that the burden of proof always seems to be that high. So there's that which we can help with all of this begins and ends with Kareem hunt did an awful thing. And then we are led to believe in the chiefs came out and said Kareem was not truthful to us about the nature of these events back when they interviewed him after this incident. And so the chiefs said this video constitutes new information to us were making this decision. He wasn't truthful with us we can't condone this. He's gone. And a lot of people said that feels reactionary now I wanna play to bits of sound for you from Sunday NFL countdown yesterday. This is Louis Riddick are ESPN NFL front office insider talking about why he believes just including the lies that Kareem hunt was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in that interview, rather it just doesn't come off. Right. It doesn't come off as cream really grasping. Exactly. What is going on here? And how explosive this situation isn't how important the situation is. And he really let the kids see cheese. No choice. I don't believe that. She's just cut because there was no video. I believe it was because they really just didn't know exactly what had happened. And he they asked him what happened. And they and he's still did not know rather didn't come forth. This becomes the confusing part here is because the chiefs interviewed him within the NFL takes over this investigation. And it's league protocol where if the league starts an investigation the team will stop investigating and let the league take over. And I assume that just in a general sense seems to be trying to avoid a conflict of interest that makes sense in my mind, but the question. And then can be asked if the league didn't interview him and the chiefs couldn't get a hold of this video a lot of people are going to ask the question. I don't think it's unfair to ask if the NFL or the chiefs didn't know how much did they really want to because it seems like now this came up, and it's it's very reactionary doesn't seem like a lot of this process was proactive, and I was talking to our ESPN senior writer me at times yesterday. And the point got brought up that this in part could be due to the way things went for the NFL when they dealt with the Ezekiel Elliott case in the suspension surrounding that. And how so many people thought they were overstepping their bounds with Ezekiel Elliott based on the amount of evidence. They had their disposal. And so if you're the NFL you've got that swing of the pendulum after it was the complete other way with Ray rice and with Greg hardy and with Josh Brown. And with all these players were people in think you didn't nearly enough. And so that's the other part of the Sam ponders the host of Sunday. NFL countdown spoke about the message this sense from the NFL going forward message. Hopefully that we're going to start sending two women and two men who care in this country is that it doesn't matter. If you love the NFL in rushing last year, it doesn't matter if you're on all our billboards, or whenever you put your hands on a woman, we're done, and I hope the NFL can make that a little more clear the investigation process than they did this time I last year on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, and I thought Sam did a good job of resetting that conversation coming off of Koreans interview. Because there is a lot of we sit around, and we judge the interview, and we judge the suspension links, and we judge all these things I always wonder how productive they are. Because again, it's easy for us all to get up here. And obviously talk about how disgusting this is to see it on tape and how wrong it is. We all know that. We're not dumb. But then we get Jasper Lucas tweets is in cream hunted that interview because he's trying to line up another opportunity with another team. He's still lying. He hasn't shown remorse, and if I'm an NFL GM, I wanna see him out of football for at least a year during which he's doing domestic violence related community service, etc. That's the other thing is I don't think any of us know how to handle this. And we don't listen to enough of the right people in this because I sat and I thought man what's the length of the suspension going to be like for Reuben foster cream haunted. How far will that go for the league? And again, you can address PR in that way. But when you're trying to address the heart of the issue the way so many people in the NFL claim to want to do what do you do outside of just signaling to fans because this is a guy Kareem hunt is going to be back on an NFL football field. So in the meantime, what do you do to make sure that he comes back better? What do you actually do? That's becomes the part. That's infinitely more important. Here's how do we protect the victims in this? And how do we make sure that if these guys are going to because of their football town, we know end up back on the field. How do we? Ensuring if you're the NFL, how do you go and actually live up to some of the things that you're talking about as far as player development and ensure that these guys if they're going to be back come back better and not just come back punished in a way that's going to satiate the mob outside of your door. It's a it's an extremely complicated issue one that won't have any resolution now, but one that will certainly get into more later coming up on golden window as well. We'll switch gears completely getting back to the world of sports and get to the one staff that caught me completely off guard this morning, that's next. It's first and last here on ESPN radio the

Jalen, NFL And Alabama discussed on First Take

"If if Jalen was a quarterback, I still think Alabama would be undefeated. They're just that good there that and you look at the running back. They got four guys that will be legit running backs in the NFL. They got three receivers that will be pretty high traffic. They got tight in. That's a mismatch for anyone their offense. Align has to all Americans. There has been getting better all year. Maybe there's a one of the best defense is in the country. Now, it's a ridiculous team from top to bottom. Listen, they have backups that are better than some teams starters. Even in the top ten. It's a ridiculous man of riches that they have. And I and by the way, Jalen hurts would also be a top twenty quarterback that led his team to two national titles.
