Today three on the you take you up to game one of the world series raise and dodgers and joined by Daddy Daddy from CBS sports to preview the series three ten, we get three, extra thirteen, sixty and FM one, two, three, three. Now. What a mess Daniel Jeremiah coming up at the top of the hour, we'll talk with DJ NFL. Network joins US on a weekly basis the move the sticks podcast. He was on the call yesterday I WanNa to say it was the early game. It was Buffalo Kansas City he and his move the sticks podcast and move the sticks empire. Colleague Bucky Brooks they do alternative broadcast during a lot of these NFL games usually reserved for Thursday nights. It's called the the Scouts version or the scouts game or something along those lines and Daniel Jeremiah was on the call last night watching Patrick Mahomes and the buffalo bills, and as we said somehow someway, we knew that this would be a referendum on who was. In trouble and who was a pretender, and it just happens to be today that it's the buffalo bills. So we'll talk with Daniel Jeremiah coming up at the top speaking of DJ though like many of you died in the wool Padre Fan and might be interested in something that Dentists Lynn tweeted out a couple of hours ago. That Luis Perdomo Underwent Tommy? John. Surgery last week. Last, week now, you might think, well, wait a second here where did this come from? Unfortunately for Luis, Perdomo, and I don't mean this as some sorta slight but nobody really thought to ask. People were focused on. Denilson. Met People were focused on my clovinger and for good reason and hey, what's the deal with those guys and it would pop a time or two during the postseason about we really need to see J. Singer go out there and make pitching change after pitching change after pitching chains. Is there anybody that can give this team two innings? And every once in a while it would pop up that maybe Luis Perdomo would be one of those players now whether you want them on the postseason roster, totally different story, but I didn't thought too much about Luis Perdomo since the end of the regular season. So for anybody who's wondering, wait a second here where does this story come from the answer? Is Nobody really unfortunately thought to ask about Luis Perdomo never really crossed my mind as a matter of fact, I had to make sure That this was a real dentist, Lynn Account Today Not that I'm aware of fake Dennis Lynn accounts, but I sorta did a double check and said, yeah, that's Dennis Land, and this is a verified account Dennis lend the outstanding pottery reporter with the Athletic Luis. Perdomo underwent Tommy John Surgery last week Dr Keith Meister perform. The operation in Texas promos expected the missed the entirety of the twenty twenty one season had jokingly said throughout the season I sort of forgot the promos even still with the organization. Thought. Maybe he got traded away to Tampa at some point right? The padres Tampa trade partners during the offseason this past year. And what the overall impact is is A. Debatable. I have no.

"The left he came in in seven games of the one point five, six innings he allowed one run it struck out ten. To, leave May in there. So the longer leash mad thrown around eighty pitchers but you get five and two third innings from your starter with the dodgers bullpen and I think Dave Roberts has to feel good being even with his bullpen now I know he feels good with Dustin may two and may is a good young pitcher. There's absolutely no question about it, but I don't understand how a right handed starter gets to. Gets to see hosmer. I third time when you've got a lefty of failing to you in the bullpen worked out for the PADRES. It works beautifully for the badgers. I. Think Dave Roberts will hear this from the media tonight why on Earth was dust may in that game in that spot and this is sadly if you're a dodger fan Dave Roberts Mo, he has made a bunch of mistakes bullpen wise late in games that has cost their their team wins in Oh up in La all they. Talk about is Dave Roberts is literally there to manage the seventh eighth and ninth right. They have everything planned out analytically who starts the game who comes in the game born the seventh eighth and ninth inning. That's all Dave Roberts has to do right the lineup story written forum. It's already put out there. He doesn't do anything no thinking on his part. All he has to do is manage the seventh eighth and ninth. You could do that blindfolded. You can just pull names out of a hat. left-handed column in a right handed tonight I just you're right good thing for the padres they left us to May in there instead of bringing the left against Hosmer, it's like you would think that they have split from hosmer Moore against lefties last couple of years you'd think that but to not put in a left-hander there when he was ready in the bullpen. Is. Good news for padres let's go back to the bottom of the first inning when Luis Perdomo starting a game against Jock Petersen, allows a walk mookie betts, singles, cody bellinger ropes, the RBI single. There's nobody out. It's one to nothing. There still to on for the dodgers. Remember. Later in that inning, we've talked about the big Jim what about Jay worth in this game? What about the plays he made its second defensively early to save runs including in the first inning then he made a really good play as well. I. Believe in the second inning of this game and that flip throw yeah he did to lead off the second inning on Matt. Beatty. I. Mean Crow has done everything if it's now his bat, it's with his glove if it's not at first, it's been it's second he has been like the glue guy the Swiss army knife I'm telling you this game is completely different. If Krajowa doesn't make that play to finish up the first inning who knows Perdomo gets out of the first inning and who knows how many runs the dodgers score in the first inning, and again, there's a lot of moments and you beat a team like La at dodger stadium to one. You're circle a lot of things. But if you WanNa, told me Perdomo goes walk single single and trails, and that's the only run. The dodgers are GonNa Squirrel night and you're GONNA win two one out of Said you're you're a liar you know the bit like tweets in the first inning or tweets in the first quarter I. Just saw everybody tweeting like here we go. bullpens go luckily. Doing this is going to blow up not going to lie I had my finger on the tweet button ready to tweet. But thankfully, I didn't. So I'm not a part of that so. Good thing. I didn't tweet and get roasted Ford. But at the same time, it was going that route like you. There's no denying you. If you're a padres fan or you cover this team, there's no question that you're thinking. Oh why God? Here we go. Right it was set up the start of the game where you look at Perdomo and how that I mean was shaping up to be they give up a run you know basis end up, get loaded A. This is not going to be good, but it was good that Tingler had the quick cook there and decide to try to sneak another ending for Perdomo. You might think that that other managers might try to do that but he didn't do it tonight and I'm glad that he didn't. Couple things offensively for San Diego that I'd like to see here maybe not the most impactful moments in the game. But Manny Machado by the way off the two homer game and remember before the two homer game he doubled no had a couple of ground ball double plays that he roped tonight he doubles the also Grad into a double play but he completely killed that ball I can't even take anything away from that bad because nothing was launched. Yeah he lays the thing. So another double though his last game four extra base hits two doubles and two home run so. Four. Hundred and twenty feet off the wall, right Oh. Yeah. Absolutely succeed right. That's. Harder. Hit at seventy miles an hour seventy, nine Tommy Cam symbols, launch angle Tommy Damn singles, and walks in this game Fernando tat tattoos junior who needed his final plate appearance to extend his on base streak to seventeen games to start the season. With an infield single in the eighth inning Jay Krona worth I mentioned defense base in and we've talked about hosmer but are you kidding me Dustin, may stake to the lead literally cruising in this game there are two outs in the fifth inning. The last person you're thinking that it's going to tie the score in the world is Austin hedges and not only does he homer? Over the center-field, wall on a ball that just kept carrying father's part of the ballpark. So hedges, homers, you know that feels amazing that backspin and then in the sixth inning, the next ten and two walks from Dustin may uncharacteristic and then Eric Hosmer made and pay no good teams take advantage of those opportunities. The padres didn't have a ton of opportunities. And then again, this bullpen to your point I thought match dramas unbelievable six up and six down quattro after going single single hit by pitch out of inning unscathed and retires the last eight battersea faces. That's damn and Pagon pomerance. New the bullpen was better Jim. Let's be. Let's be fair and honest I mean we've set it all year long we said the bullpen needs to be better. One of the deepest in baseball era was over five. In fact, it was pushing six as recently as two or three days ago. Even yesterday Jim in a nine five, win the bullpen Bettino in Tim Hill combined to allow four runs in. The ninth inning. But who cares they one nine, five, this bullpen performance tonight could be accountable. This could be the game we look back at and say, this is when they got right and this is when they went on a little bit of Iran now start tonight game road trip we'll see but I mean if this leads to a split or better at dodger stadium this big as they come. It is turn the MIC on Jim. But like we've said and we've seen all year this team is amazing and first. Games of series. They've won every single one there there are one, hundred, sixty, six, no in the first game ever series. Now. It's like, okay. What are you going to do after the first game? Right? Are they going to come back tomorrow after this huge win and have a let down or are they going to play baseball good baseball like they have in first game of the series and build off that you know they're in there in this thing to win series and Yes to win three or four dodger stadium is very tough. I. Think we looked at each other and said a split would be great for them but. For split any day, the probably still would. But when you win game one, you want to get greedy. But now if you lose this series major disappointment Oh, absolutely you're disappointed I three game losing streak of the year. Yeah. So Hopefully, they can build off this first game. Right and tomorrow get Richards can eat up some endings because yes, they did use a lot of the bullpen today. And you know come out with this series. No worse than a split that that's that's a the one hundred percent mission they have to series no less than a split anything less than that. It's a it's a huge failure and and also to because you're playing Arizona on Friday and you've beaten up on Arizona all year. So imagine if this team can win three or four against the dodgers here at dodger stadium going into weakened series against Arizona where you're probably going to see a new pitcher on Friday because that was supposed to be bummed magnitude bumgarner not gonNA see Bumgarner. So she has not been PICCI's not Bingo, and you're going to Arizona which is a bandbox and his team leads the league in runs. scored. It's like the best offensive team in baseball. So it's lining up for them. They just have to build off this game to cannot have a let down the rest this series anything less than a split. It's a disappointment. It was interesting too because heading into the series you knew you weren't going to see.

"He's super super young and raw So my guess is, yeah. He will probably stick in kind of a multi inning reliever all. which can be good in deeper formats. NL only like is a guy who might sneak a win like I did in tout wars last night with a sneaky little. Streaming Jeff off at home versus the giants But yeah, I mean I think he's the the hard part. Is I mean? This is one of the best bullpens baseball. Yeah, and Patina trying to crack that I was GONNA say it's also a team that likes to pull their starters. The moment there's trouble, and so that means like if someone gets pulled after four and two thirds Patino Cal contrel are the guys that are probably really. Luis Perdomo are the guys who are coming in and they can get some sneaky wins. Exactly panics the only real real horse. Who can regularly be counted on to go six seven? Lament especially, if you got left is in that line up, he can be a five and dive richards. We know his health to, he could be horse ish if he is cooking and everything's going well, but and then, and then Zach Dave is standard, five inning guy enjoy location should really be like a four pitch. Guy Right now. Not that he has four pitches in his arsenal and then he gets to throw for pitches because. The lapenne to like. I. Think. He has to get to the bowl like again. What I think he gets one more start, and if it doesn't show like major turnaround against Arizona good landing spot right now, they're not hitting anything. Then he could hang onto it a little bit longer. Do you think like the Rangers general manager just salivate over like they're also resource page on their open? Like you know he's just like, Oh, man, I wish I had you. Yes, oh without a doubt without a doubt example just looks at it and I. It's unbelievable and you know, Chris, when we're just like looks and say if I just had one of these guys you. Give me the old guy, Gimme Craig Stamm in thirty six years old and I would feel like I have somebody to go to because they don't have anything. So it's it's not great over there. Last bit of Prospect News Howard potentially up this weekend, we don't have anything guaranteed on that, but what is your outlook on? On Spencer Howard, how interested would you be in such a day? I'm super interested in Spencer Howard I mean really impressive throughout you know his minor league career I think he's a guy that could come up and you know just be very, very good. Right away I mean he's got four like you know average two plus pitches. Decent Command for a guy, his age. I mean Philadelphia's not the greatest place to pitch. especially with the level of competition, he's going to be facing but I mean I, think you're going to get strikeouts, I think he. Should be able to keep the ball in the yard because he has. Pretty much is entire minor league career except for like the tiniest of a sample, a rookie ball in two, thousand, nineteen. So I have him in Tj, FBI drafted him. and been holding onto him and so yeah I. I would really like to. To get him in other leagues if he's available. So obviously, if you're GONNA wait till, he's up and then it's fabulous on him. I think he's one of those guys in the same way like Christian heavy was. People spent two to four hundred bucks on him. This weekend, you can kind of expect the same. Is Soon as Spencer's up our Spencer. Our Tout I agree and we could see it. This weekend could get that I start, and if it's good, you know it's just going to add to the bottom line price to. If. You like him. You almost hope it's kind of a medium start. So doesn't shoot the price through the roof, but you know that happens sometimes guy comes up on a Sunday and really sends their price. Sky. High. And you're like well great now and Never GonNa get them so that could happen what Spencer Howard stay tuned to see if he gets called up we don't know yet Alec. Mills threw seven scoreless yesterday was against Casey. You know that's that's a good landing spot, but I do wonder how you feel about him because he's been looking pretty good so far, and you know he had some good swing and Miss Belmont, the last couple of years particularly with last year. When he brought this slow curve into the mix and really started focusing on that he's using it again this year. After dabbling with it in eighteen, he kinda doubled the usage in one, thousand, nine hundred and has maintained their this year sixteen percent. He's leaning on his slider bit more this year as fastballs under fifty percent for the first time. It doesn't throw very hard. He's eighty to ninety, one type of guy. And the interesting thing is he has the two great outings, but the swinging strike rate really hasn't been there, but it is thirteen innings with two runs allowed. So where are you on Al meals as far as a long term investment for the season? I don't know if he's a huge long term investment for me I. Think you know he was one of the guys that I mentioned that was worth picking up this week because of the to start week Now, he his seconds starts at Saint. Louis. So we don't know if he'll actually get it, but I knew this one would be pretty good gone up against the royals It'll be interesting. Actually, I can probably project out who if he does get. If he does get that second start who he would be going up against next week because let's see the cubs are he'd be probably. At Cleveland, which is an offense that hasn't really gotten it together. So you know that's not a bad side. Think he kind of just play the match ups with them right now, and especially, if you're in deeper formats in a fifteen mix or deeper, there's not a lot on the waiver wire. So Alex is one of those guys that should be rostered in in every mix league format, well, not every mix probably fifteen and you can. Fit, twelve's you can start to play in the The match even Ted, you could. You could use this matchup. Here's. Here's the big question for him though I was Tana through a thirty pitch bullpen on Monday, didn't have any issues if he comes back, mills goes to the bullpen. Specially, with how well chat pitching right now. I. Mean. He's another one of those guys where a stream him in in some leagues to start the year because he was kind of in the rotation and I'm glad I got that and I mean there's just no one else in that rotation unless there's an injury where Alex Mills could stick in it i. think he just ride it for right now. As soon as Cantatas bag, you probably cut bait. That's perfect. Staying in the central role. Quick. An interesting development yesterday could be one of those things where you know this happened to from Valdez? Where he relieved for? Christian. Hobby or excuse me for Josh James? The. Other day. So the start that he was supposed to get on Tuesday was was pushed back. Corbin, Burns came out of the bullpen yesterday. Is he out of the rotation or is it just the a firm kind of thing where it's like, Hey, they needed them. So they went to him for three and two thirds because Brent Anderson only went three. Or is Burns back out. Yeah. Idea being that. It would be Anderson Woodruff. Hauser Peralta. lindblom yen lowers back..

Tingler. We'll take a look around the NFL west. We'll get you set for tomorrow in Colorado as well for the padres I mean this thing GM, had a little bit of everything the Padras to their credit find a way. I mean this would have been as bad as they get in terms of loss but guess what? It's not a loss they score six runs in the tenth and they win it and they win the series. So I told you I had a little nugget for you. You did because you love all these stats and numbers and history and whatnot. But this bullpen, it's the first time in padres history were the bullpen blew back to back leads of four runs or more in franchise history? No. Yes. Is that right? Yes. It's the first time in franchise history. They've had two four Ron or greater leads and blown them. But no, it would have been if they lost right as they still won one of these two games, it's never happened in franchise history backed about four run leads never happened in franchise history. We got some bullpen issues John, we have bullpen issues. I need you to confirm that they said on the broadcast I need more. I believe don in mud. That is incredible. If that is accurate, that is an incredible statistic I leaving. I I find it really hard to believe I. Mean Fifty one years of baseball. They've never had consecutive days like we just saw. No, aren't we fortunate man the wrap up show started earlier this week and we get to recap what was really a wild night by the bay as the Padres win at twelve to seven they do so. With Pierce Johnson recording the wind Johnson WanNa know Tyler Rogers allowed those runs in the tenth inning. He falls to one and two on the season. This could have been a night jim where you would second guess James Taylor all through the evening and I'm talking about what went on with the bullpen the padres build a six one lead in this game and then could not hold it as Luis, Perdomo worked to One-two-three sexting with a six one lead. He then started the seventh inning and issued a leadoff. Walk to Mikey Stransky. At that point, a left handed batter Alex Dickerson do they don't go to a left handed reliever drew pomeranz they allow Perdomo to stay in the game dickerson singles the next batter Donovan Solano I don't think there's a hotter hitter in the major leagues right now Salata who tonight had let's see four hits and three more RBI's doubled in that spot then brandon belt another left handed batter was faced by Perdomo he walked him and then they went to pomerance anyway damage will be done. Five, hundred on the. Is that good. It's okay. Here's the thing I mean you can only get so much into the padres win but three run-scoring the seventh inning they should have clearly gone to. POMERANZ. Earlier and then in the eighth inning pagon again does not have his stuff that's been the story of the first seven games of the season for what was supposed to be your eighth inning guy he allies to Ron's and all of a sudden is six one deficits been evaporated. But guess what I mean. If they lose this game, we would spend an hour on it folks and they've got bullpen issues. There is no question about it, but they're five and two. And they're scrappy and they scored six runs Jim in the tenth inning and I think the big hit obviously was tom to give you a lead but then Greg Garcia pinch hits for will Myers and comes through and the padres tack on its we're six runs win twelve seven while you can be excited for the win absolutely coming up while after blowing the lead, the bullpen does that they fought back in that tenth inning. This wind kind of feels like it should've just never gotten to this point it should've never got to this point and I would have much rather seen a win or the bullpen is lights out then how they won tonight. A little bit resiliency a little bit of show something. I know I agree for sure I'm not trying to discredit a win I'm just saying. I personally would have rather seen this bullpen. Perform, then the same issues arise you see Emilio Gone I, mean he's given up and running every game. He's pitch except for Tuesday night against the giants. The the way that James Tingler. So far through these first seven games of the year that he's managed this bullpen. Some questions to be asked right Oh my God. There are things that he's doing where you are wondering wait. Why is that guy still in the game and why haven't you made a move in why isn't anybody up in the bullpen and why is this guy facing this? Guy Win. A lefties up it just a lot of moves that he's made. Bullpen wise. They don't make sense. This is the first night Jim. I'M GONNA put it squarely on him I think prior to tonight you could have had some questions about is this tingler? Is it prowler? Is it? Is this set before the game where it's less than the manager's hand and the relievers didn't come through and big spots but there is no excuse after Perdomo last fork in the seventh inning after last night. When you a six to lead, you've got to find a way to preserve leads and you've gotta get the final nine outs and you need your a crew and I. Think pomerance needs to come on after a leadoff walk to Mikey streaky there on the seventh inning I think pomerance has to come on and he doesn't come on for Dickerson, and then he doesn't come out for Solano any doesn't come on for Brandon Belt. And three score that inning clearly could have cost you the game here's the good news. It didn't because the padres offense came to life in the tenth inning. So tingler bailed out by his offense in the tenth inning he was bailed out by the way by Pierce Johnson who remember in the ninth inning and a tie game allows the leadoff man to.

"Did you mentioned to KOTA Hudson? He's good. I. I. I agree with you on that. He he's been pitching. Good pitching. Coaching with our grammar here, six six quality starts in a role but. I think he's right. Here is. But he's, he's not great. Davis is making a lot with a little, I feel like five years ago to Hudson would be a top twenty star like he'd be on the verge of that. We'd be looking at him and saying, wow, that's impressive. But it's just he's got a consistent and it's, it's really hard like if that Davies can do it. Anybody can do it. That's what I'm trying to say. Like, obviously, nobody had a shot this week in Denver to pitch. Well, but the only guy I did I saw this on the tweet like Luis Perdomo. I'd like five should I like how does that happen? Oh, yeah. The fring in and give spot starts with making followers. Oh, jeez. I carry ask, you know, it's like this the new norm. How many times do we see records set in terms of run-scoring are home runs, or the like, and then they repeat three pointers in the NBA? It's kind of just that moving in that direction. But this week I ninety two runs in four games, obviously, when we say the new norm, we don't. But, but seventy five and a four game series. Yeah. Not crazy anymore. All right. Let's get this. I'm not crazy hash. Not crazy. Mark wants to know if your interest level in Colin Moran is there likely adding second base elgibility soon. No, I could not care less hard pass. I mean, there's nothing there and second base is not that much weaker than third base, if it is at all. So I'm gonna say new. I don't care. I mean it's nice that he's adding eligibility, if you're an only league you're like, oh, no, I can move in the middle infield, but may Colorado end up hitting what sixteen home runs and batting, two sixties exciting, it matters. Like, look, I had to replace so in NFL labor this week, finally they demoted Brennan Rogers. Look, I finally, I'm glad they're not gonna play on the modem and they didn't wait until after Monday's deadline. So I got to pick up somebody. So I can I have all these players like as much auto I can move around second or third, but I had nobody I could put in there on my bench. So I had actually signed a guy pick up a guy and I got Sean Rigas, who's now, apparently new third baseman for the Phillies. But. It would have been nice to have like another player who could be moved around six outfielders there. So I couldn't move any of the Al theaters to an infield spot. If I could move onto corner, I could've gotten away with us so Moran could have been the puzzle piece that helps in this situation. But he's not the guy you're going to get in order to lead you to believe in something better. I have on reserved Smith who I'd like to activate, but I can't there's no room his the guy's got a two hundred and fifteen point split in his career Murray's. He's a platoon player. This is launch isn't hall, and Matt Joyce, trying to think of few other, that's what it looks like to me to like he just can't hit lefties, maybe someday. He will. But. At the weeks, they're playing a couple of games against week, or pitchers in the right park, or against a bunch of righties. There's probably something there. What's next a few questions here we're gonna go quick. Rapid fire here on players if you need to hold onto them or not Ian have any fantasy relevance. No, not at all. I lean to that. Yeah. Bradley Zimmer now now metals this here. Matt olsen. Yes. I mean that's at the top twenty first baseman, but not a top ten first baseman. But there's a lot of guys like meddlesome that are gonna hit twenty five home runs and to sixty. So I mean with guys like that. I just kind of take when they're hot or when they when they had the schedules..

"So I'm kind of intrigued by release, but this is about Nunez, so Renato Nunez. You briefly mentioned a few times that you liked him. What do you like what can you see if he is a fulltime or splitting between the agent third based power so much power. Dude has just seventy grade bra power go it's like legit. Like, he like, I know him in for sixty pow raw power shame on you kylian. Eric. Yeah. No. He is legit power in yet. In Camden Yards. The reason he's going to be aging because he's dealing with some sort of bicep tissue. And it doesn't affect when he's hitting. But he's having a hard time throwing across the diamond. Okay, fine. Because Mark trombone is being talked about being put on the sixty AD L O with his injuries, so surgery. Yeah. So I think Nunez could be the everyday D H pretty much all the way until that. Biceps is healthy. And if res. Is playing well enough to continue warranting of being thrown out there. I don't think unions is a very good defender thought he'd end up over at first. But this is a legit guy who could hit thirty plus home runs and gonna come out of cost your average like this guy. He's not gonna eat. He's not gonna get like two sixty or seventy like, we'll be lucky if we get to forty out of them. But that's. That going super super late rain Nunez for Baltimore came over from Oakland. Clubbed seven homers and sixty games with them to made nice little impression right off the time. I think I mentioned this before when we talked about third base but back in two thousand and sixteen I want to say it was predicted him to be my like breakout rookie pick like I like this power has been there for a long time. He's just never really gotten the major league run because the Orioles are so bad. They're going to give him that. And I think even if he strikes out at a twenty eight percent clip, he still made thirty home runs. They were gonna put Trump bow there. So what the hell is the difference there just for the accuracy as a Ridgely, but then to Rangers, and then Rangers os just to have that locked up and then last one another kind of a deeply girl though, he's in some makes league shine. Here's really starting to change their tune on on this guy, including myself. Glower going to be the opening day starter for San Diego. Now, he was a prospect of no. And I remember it was up last year. And I was excited about it. Because he had done some things in the minors. And he was a prospect in my my my yearly commitment to being sharper on prospects has actually panned out pretty well. And it's it's getting to know these kind of guys beyond the top twenty five everyone knows. I'm you need to get deeper these days and even beyond the top one hundred. So figuring out who Eric lower was kind of known about him. I was intrigued he comes up. It's knocked around a little bit. I believe initially. But then you end up four thirty four a in one hundred twelve innings is not too bad. The one fifty four whip is ugly. But I was also looking at the fact that it was a three thirty two Babb leading to ten point two hits per nine. He can probably improve upon that twenty four year old fifty brings it about ninety one ninety two from the left side. So it's not blazing philosophy. But it's average for the left side. It's really the slider that. That can do the work form. I see maybe an NL only deep mixed league viable peace here, and they're going to start him as their opening day guy. So they're showing some love and lower by the way, they're also they didn't have guys like stray and Chen blocking. But they're going with the young bucks lower. Lucchessi paddock strong their top four r I p Luis Perdomo with his massive spin..

"However, Kawhi Leonard will not depart this game. He's got to sit out due to some rest. Cherney till the Turney canteens Virginia Tech Duke Tuesday at six thirty eastern on ESPN radio and on ESPN. ESPN radio and the ESPN app filling in today, ROY Cheung, Tim Montemayor with you and a pleasure to be with you. The biggest story in sports today. I think Royce continues to be the pursuits of Bryce Harper, by the way, by the way. Please tell me that you're excited that spring training. Baseball is underway. I'm very excited because that means that summertime is almost here. Big fan of summer. No, I'm excited. You don't know what that means? You live in Arizona. You don't understand it? We have summer twelve months a year. What are you talk? Is. There are there places where it's not summer getting hey, we had we had snow in Scottsdale this week. So people forgot how to drive let's settle down. But the point is I'm Ashley I'm passionate baseball fan. I do I do love spring training. But this Bryce Harper thing is mind scratching just numbing to me because I think price Harper who by the way, if the latest on Bryce Harper is is that he is met in person again with the owner of the Philadelphia Phillies in Las Vegas and one hour from now BUSTER only is going to join us to give us the very latest on it. But what we know is that there is some belief that there could be offer. There could be a deal done by Tuesday. I'd be really surprised if Bryce Harper science with Philly because it just doesn't feel like he wanted to go there. He coulda had this deal done a long time ago. They've been chasing him hard. Would you be surprised if it ends up price? Harper goes to Philly mean all signs point to there. So I guess at this point. No. But if you would've told me, Tim before this whole process started, I would said, yes. They didn't seem to check the boxes outside of having the money to spend on them. And look when players making these types of decisions that they way they have their own personal checklists in what they want to get. And the expectation is is that Harper will probably get a similar deal. What Manny Machado got the bar has been set. But didn't it feel like there were better options out there for him? It did it did. But it apparently all those offers dried up for Bryce Harper because the other thing that is a painfully obvious to me as we saw the, you know, the Manny Machado to San Diego, and how exciting that was. And how energized the San Diego Padre fan base became? He got three hundred billion over ten years. Are you telling me that Bryce Harper doesn't have a better offer than three hundred million? It would surprise me if he did. Because if he did I why would he not sign that deal? It would be it would be surprised if he had a three if Bryce Harper had multiple three hundred and twenty million dollar offers. Are you telling me he's not under contract already, right? That's right. Yeah. It'd be surprising because Bryce Harper from the word go the minute the World Series ended and free agency began in the hot stove turned on Bryce Harper was the commodity. So we know this that the Padres have had interest even though now they say they're out. We know the dodgers showed lukewarm interest. We know the San Francisco Giants would love to add Bryce Harper White Sox were in there. The White Sox for sure. So I'm just curious why why are teams not making him a three hundred and twenty five million dollar offer. Are you are you a guy rice young who believes that Bryce Harper makes teams better? See that's he had a down year last year right here. What to forty nine down here? That was still a spectacular your hundred RBI is in. I mean, he he did have there's no question Bryce Harper had a down year. Yes. Yes. But he also, you know, when you talk about like is he a winner can he can change your your franchise. He was part of a pretty significant turnaround with Washington nationals like Bryce Harper injected a new life into that organization, and look they surrounded him. And there's a lot of good players on the team. That lineup was great pitching. Unbelievable. Yeah. Sure. Zor and Rondonia they protected Bryce Harper. But he's an exciting player that you pay money to see. So yeah, there has to be some kind of level of. I don't know worry of buyer's remorse. Anytime you thrown around a ten year contract. I feel like that to me again. I don't know the inner workings of baseball front office, but tenure contracts I know that there's somewhat common with with these superstar level players. But. You. Thirty six, but you gave ten years in three hundred million dollars to a guy who admitted he doesn't like to hustle. Manny Machado said yeah, hustling, that's just not my thing. Less room for injury. You paid them three hundred million dollars. And I understand that. That's what you have to do. And we're talking about Bryce Harper. And where he may end up in the latest rumors about that here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app, and I just have a problem if you're going to pay Manny Machado, three hundred million dollars, and you're only worth what somebody's willing to pay you. You're not worth what you think you're worth Manny Machado, set the bar three hundred million dollars. I would pay Bryce Harper. I if we're paying three hundred million for Manny, I'm paying Bryce three twenty five and I don't have to think twice about it. I am. Because if it's not about the fit right in. It's just about the money. Then that's what it would take. Right. That's exactly what it would take in as a die hard. I m e passionate diehard Chicago Cubs fan. I would be happy to pay him thirty five million dollars a year and put him in right field. And I know that defensively his numbers are not stellar Bryce Harper can play the outfield on any major league team with any major league outfielder because he's gonna hit he's going to run hard. He plays hard. And if he's on the Chicago Cubs. Let's say if he's on if he's on the LA dodgers, if he's on the San Francisco Giants, I know that those three teams are better if he's on the Philadelphia Phillies. It'll be interesting to see what happens to that team. Because they've had Dave Robertson was a really nice pick up for the Phillies. So I think the Phillies will be a better team for him. I just I'm not convinced that Bryce Harper wants to spend the next decade in Philadelphia. Because if he if he had I think he would have done it. You know, I think he would've signed that deal already. But hey here nor there. I look at the the money thing, and this collusion argument, by the way that everybody talks about and rice, you may know, what I'm talking about the people feel like the owners of major league baseball are trying to keep free agents down and whatnot. I don't think that's the case with Bryce Harper. I think what's really happening agree or disagree. I think what's happening is he he believes he's worth three twenty five or three fifty and he's not getting those off. Yeah. I think that I think the players like him, they they they survey the marketplace, and they look at it and say there should be like a a level of inflation here. And that you know, I want to be the highest paid player in baseball history. And you know, I think the executives and owners are probably trying to show a different level of discipline these days, but to me, and and maybe the reason that you mentioned it earlier Tim that does Bryce Harper. Make you a title contender. Obviously in baseball. It's not like basketball. It's not like signing a quarterback where it's like the world can revolve around one player one player in the middle. Your lineup doesn't necessarily elevating the level. There's a lot of other factors a lot of other roles that have to be filled. But if let's say a good team signs, Bryce Harper. Can they do they become a great team from that point on? And I think that's what teams are asking themselves. I can only tell you that. I think the San Diego Padres are now in a much better place to contend for the NFL west. And really, it's not. Not only because of Manny Machado, certainly he helps and he fills in nicely on an infield with Kinzler he fills in nicely with with, you know. The things that they are trying to do the Cosmas, but they also have this unbelievable farm system with guys like Joey Lucchessi a guy like an Eric lower Luis Perdomo who's coming back or you know, what Denilson lament the head. Tommy John surgery for the Padres who's on his way back. Oh, by the way, they've got you realize twenty great prospects in AA and AAA for the Padres right now. So it made sense for the Padres to go spend three hundred million dollars. I'm Manny Machado my opinion. Is it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense for them to go and spend that kind of money on Bryce Harper because they've already got Franci Cordeiro whose name nobody knows. But that guy is a legit power guy. They've got guys to hit balls out of the ballpark. They don't need that. I'm telling you, the San Francisco Giants need that. I'm not convinced the Philadelphia Phillies. Do don't go anywhere BUSTER only in about forty minutes. I'll ask him straight up about is this an issue where Bryce Harper feels. He's worth more than the. Offers. He's getting because frankly, folks, I can't find another reason why he wouldn't be under contract. Speaking of worth the money. He's getting LeBron and the Lakers lost again last night. Lebron had some very curious comments after the game. So we'll talk about it next will the Lakers make the playoffs on the Mike ESPN radio and the ESPN app..
