President Obama did did notice that the Postal Service was running at a deficit that was unsustainable, and he started this process a back in own nine. And then it went into any 2011 was talking about ending Saturday deliveries. I remember these conversations, people saying, you know, well that our Saturday deliveries okay, so and the moving of the mailboxes that are basically just started with President Chopper is all a lie. It's this is a manufactured crisis. And Pravda, the public publicity's arm of the DNC is getting out their nightly on your news, parroting it and lying to you if it was good enough for President Obama. Why isn't it good enough for President Trump a whole bunch of celebrities on members of the media who are sharing elements of this conspiracy theory on places like social media? Former Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill, Kel actress Elissa Molano, former MBA player Rex Chapman. They're pushing all these photos around, suggesting that the United States Postal Service is putting locks on collection boxes in order to prevent people from dropping off balance. That is not true. The the U. P of the United States Postal Service has often place blocks on the front of receptacles in order to prevent Fishing, which is when people try and snake a rope down in and use something sticky substance or whatever to grab the package and trying really out off the bin. They put these locks on, especially on weekends where they're not expecting actually used the boxes and then they take them off again when they're expecting people to use them in normal service, But these were being framed as some sort of vast conspiracy that ballots are being blocked in bizarre places like Oregon. Is Oregon. Really gonna break for Trump? Come on. Why would that conspiracy even exists? It's not sense there's another one. There's another photo that's going around of mailboxes that air stacked up. I don't know if you've seen this. I have seen it. Yeah, another. It's it's gone. "Service stuff. You know, it's amazing what's going on here. There is a real effort to create this broad based conspiracy that Trump is doing it in plain sight. He's trying to slow the mail down. Nonsense President is opposed to Universal mail voting, he said Stone from many, many times, and for many reasons, the evidence is crystal clear. We've seen it play out in a bunch of primary states across the Tree Pennsylvania That's happened. New YORK This happened. Mary already talked about that. Washington D. C. They couldn't get the ballots to the people in the district for the primary, so people were left lining up at polling size this year on DH left, ultimately disenfranchised in many cases because they never were able to get the ballot that they were supposed to receive. So that's a disaster and November boy, I'm hoping more and more jurisdictions. I know this won't happen, but I really want more more jurisdiction in person. Voting is fine, and we're gonna have a ton of different places that you could do it in order to maintain social distance from one another. Listen to this. In Michigan. They rejected 10,600 absentee ballots Now these air absentee ballot. They were rejected August 4th and 6400 of them were rejected because they arrived after Election Day, 2225 were discarded because there was no signature on the envelope. 1111 were rejected because the voter moved 846 were not accepted because the voter was dead. Now Michigan updates their voter rolls. There were a lot of states do not. So can you imagine if it's a state that doesn't update their voter rolls? That would have been 10,600 more ballots or well, maybe not that but it would have been at least 846 that would have been counted that shouldn't have been counted because the voter was dead. Except in Chicago, which we all know about. You wanted disenfranchise voters. This is how you do it. You forced the election into the Postal Service. Look, here's another point. The left is really upset that the post office has been removing and moving. Pick up mailboxes. Yes from low traffic areas. The Postal Service does this every year. This is a routine thing. They literally assess the amount of mail that showing up in these mailboxes and assess whether or not they need to move them to areas that actually received mail that need mailboxes. So they decided decided they're going to stop this this year. Louis Detroit, the postmaster general, they've already announced. Okay, tell you what. We're going to pause everything for 90 days just so nobody freaks out. We'll leave everything in place exactly where it's at. Because you're creating this controversy where there is none. This is routine and happen during the Obama years. It's happening. The trump years. You know, a well the none of that's going to get out there. You know, when you were telling me about that I was like, really, I had no idea because you don't hear it. It's never going to get out there because they don't want that reality out there. Would you stick out their rate? The logistics of the post office never really mattered before it was, like, you know, we were paying attention with frequency. They do it like a boy that post that mailbox moved. But think about it because Have you ever had to mail some things I've had to mail something at him and I look for the blue boxes right? And then I realized well, there are a lot of blue blocks is blue box is now in a lot of our cities. Some of them will remove because people were afraid that the authorities were afraid of people putting bombs in them that could explode that that was a great place to put in an explosive device. So they were moved in a lot of our larger cities. So I think that was like the first step. And just really of them kind of re being removed from our our world, our landscape and you just didn't notice it was it was one here one there that was removed. But it is very quickly going back to Michigan. The total of 10,694 ballots that were rejected Trump won by a margin of 10,704 ballots. Imagina. Could you imagine the numbers are very tight. That's why it's so important that we actually count the actual votes and fulfill the intent of the American voter. 8 50 on Washington's.

"Remember, they had no masks they had. I mean, the goalie would would not wear a mask and you go back that far. Absolutely. So You go back to the barn. You go back to the barn, then. Oh, yeah, Well, I was born in 57. So I go back to when guys want weren't massive stuff. Yeah, thing about hockey, though, when you talk about not being there. The saddest part of that, and hockey has always been a tough sell in Sunbelt market's the only one It's really taken off in big time. It's Vegas initially, but in some about marketing stuff because we don't go up with it, and in the funniest thing is You cannot really watch hockey on TV unless you have 100 inch TV, But in person there is nobody's going to watch your hockey game. What do you like hockey or not? You gotta one gaming world. The light. It's a sports lodge in person. I think the one sound effect, though they're missing in the National Hockey League actually are missing, too. They're missing the boo sound effect. You know, for when Bettmann comes out and gives that trophy out at the end, and then there are also missing the pounding of the glass. Remember when there's a fight in the corner and guys were pounding on that glass? That's a big part of that fight. Then we had got suits of the Kings from years and we really pounding on the glass. Oh, yeah. For years, we had glasses of eggs, and then we moved all around Staples Center. But when we sat on the glasses found that glass is often as we could. Again if you had glass seeds, and you saw up close, how big these guys are and the skill it takes to skate and shoot a park and and stop and start and check. I mean, that's it's an Incredibles. You know, set of skills you need just to survive. And people always say you know if you want to have the cheap sports the bay on a slow day. What's it requires the most skilled who's the most talented many sport and I've always maintained a talkie. It's the only game where you have to skate. So you have the ice game. And not everybody could do that. You also have a stick, which is a weapon and you are firing a little piece of lumber at 100 miles an hour. I think that requires more skill than any sport. Right? Who was the man? You grew up in Detroit? So you saw it. You know, the 1960 19 seventies wings man. They They had some, You know, some very memorable players and some memorable, you know, rivalries as well. Gordie Howe. Allen stole back your job, which the goal was Roger closer, Leo Boy been play defense. They had the I was there when they were originally six franchises. I mean, I was there for the original National Hockey League and the Black Hawks. The Bruins Rangers, Canadians, a maple leaves. Yeah, I was there at the beginning. And so you know that the rivalry of one things that's you know Toronto, Detroit or Chicago, Detroit, but the real rivalries ST Louis Detroit Well, that would be questionable Chin to be quite honest with you. I don't think it's state. Let's say you don't think it is. Do you think it's stronghold? Oh, yeah, It's going to be, you know, not saying no. I'm saying now it is now But I'm sorry about back in the day when The Blackhawks had Chico Macking stand Makita and that group in the Bruins had body or Yeah, I'm not shapeless. But now, maybe, But not. Then who is the guy and and again? People probably crossed their eyes here, but I don't care who was the guy who played defense forever for Detroit. He was from Europe, and he and he plays whole career than he retired, like five or six years ago. Can't think of is you know what I can't think of his name either. But I can tell you this. You know, I'm talking about where you live. Yeah, but I know where he lives, right? They built in Calabasas. That's right. That's right. That's exactly right. But you know what? You want to know why I know that. One that we had When we lived out in Calabasas. We put this patio cover in the backyard and you could sit on top of it, You know, and below. It was like a patio. One day with a knock on the door. I opened the door. There's a woman stand here. Not only this woman is and she says, I'm your neighbor. I live up there and she goes. Yeah, we saw what you did Well built that for you. And it was that guy's wife. Oh, it was so he lives in the old fella. Basses eyes that Nicholas Lindstrom, right? Yet, Okay? All right. When it was so great when he retired, he went on for five minutes about how great Detroit was How great the people are. How great the city was. How great hockey was How great the rivalry war, so eat their toe. Live there to grow up and raise kids there and everything. And somebody. The first question was. So where are you going to retire? What part of Detroit because I'm moving to California. Example. Right? Of course. I think he was being a bit generous in his remarks, although I love Detroit. Look, I grew up with Sanders. Hot Fudge, You know, I mean, just the Belle isle, you know, grow zeal. I mean, I just love that city. Did you ever go on a bottle of 00? Yeah, absolutely. Pavel about sure. Do you ever get back there? I haven't been back for a bunch of 15 years and I have some. I went back. I I actually was working for Channel four, and we go back there, and I found a house like walking. Wow, That's so cool. And I grew up next to Barry Gordy..

"Rope was so important. That one of the guys is who went on the Lewis and Clark expedition. He kept a diary in one of the line. They'll never forget that. I read what this expedition was held together are by rope and that just that really got me because I thought Mary. You made history lady That's awesome she. Also if people have heard of Commodore Perry now the the war in Lake Erie in eighteen thirteen the British Royal Navy starts impinging on American territory and has taken Detroit O. Aw outrageous the British seize control of Lake Erie and there's this major battle and Commodore Perry came to marry Irwin and said I would like you to please outfit my navy for this upcoming battle and she agreed and they did a rush job for all of his rope for are all of these ships. Madore Peiris warships set off for Lake Erie and defeat the British. Louis Detroit's push back to Canada. This chapter of American history that I never heard about yes. Mary Irwin's rope saving the day. It also outfitted the New Orleans thousands. which was the first steamboat? Travel from Pittsburgh all the way to New Orleans by this brand and new idea that you could bring things up the Mississippi River. Yeah that no one had really done this. Before this was a pleasure cruise. I would soon become exactly what she predicted. That all of this trade is coming up and down these rivers and Pittsburgh the center and of course Pittsburgh does become the center of manufacturing innovation the Industrial Revolution. When all of these started to happen? You have Andrew Carnegie Big Deal Industry Henry Heinz Heinz Ketchup but fun fact. Henry Heinz US first company was bottling. His mother pushed radic. Oh that was less successful than catch up so he moved on. But we know these men's needs these hijackers of industry history in Pittsburgh. Yeah and none of us have heard of Mary Irwin And yet her impact on the city her impact on the economy in this. It's it's every bit as big as there's We're not heard of her. Because she didn't become a evil megalomaniac and crush all her competition and and make millions and millions of dollars and then feel guilty in the end and donate it to try to help humanity. She did well she didn't. I guess. Become an evil megalomaniac but it it was a big philanthropic worse in the city. was she like a millionaire. She she she had halted her family into the one percent. Percents they were all are one of the premier families of Pittsburgh and by the time we hit Gilded Age America. They are among the elite. They are marrying the Perry's in the Carnegie's and the Heinz's they are. Oh my God in exactly the same straddle of society as these these men and yet we've never heard of her that kind of frost my chops that we have all these women in such as Pittsburgh. It's everywhere we don't know. So it's our job to uncover uncover and it's not just us. Her family did not know her story where they think the money came came from. They know all about John Irwin. His vast rope making empire and his foresight in noticing the importance portent Blitzburgh as the site of all of these rivers than starting a rope walk and manufacturing Roman creating this empire. John Irwin and Mary Irwin Win. Son Get all the credit for this even within the family and they do not even know her name off off. Did this research and brought it to the failures of what she did. Look I had no idea why. Why is it still earns every time? Yeah so I thought well at least if nothing else family hopefully with the tail here. I'm going to put her in my American history class next semester. So so this is something that I have. Only recently realized is unusual. Maybe in our family we grew up with mother who deeply prizes family history genealogy. Jenny urology this information. So what are these stories from our ancestors that you remember that. We learned growing up Sarah Elizabeth conover could dance the teacup on her head. Feisty Fanny Gibbs put on her husband's uniform and dressed like a ghost Aunt Bertha ran brothel. I ran the best. All of our stories are are women can tell you the names of our male ancestors. Yeah no stories about and I think I just assumed that that's how these kind of things usually go that that it is women who are doing howling and so we really stories that are getting passed on and because I follow a lot of professional twitter somehow. Okay I'm realizing more. And more than that is really unusual. joie genealogy like history follows male lions. They are people know they're male ancestor stories and the women are disappeared. Now uh I'm so grateful but that's not true and I started wondering this morning if rowing up understanding understanding that women's stories matter baby that prime does for creating this podcast we come at it with this perspective. That of course The stories of women from history are as those are the ones we know from our history we know the details of their lives that bring them alive and how important it was to keep those alive in oral history because those stories aren't written down by the man doing the official record keeping being bright. Yeah so you have to look for the subtlest of clues like the original business being called and wife that those kinds of clues news can speak volumes because they didn't write down the volumes. Now it's people like Gloria. That are doing this work on local levels. Finding these women men who series have been literally buried And bringing them back out and saying. Hey wait we should be talking about her as much as we're talking about carnegie she this city as much as high instead and unfortunately that same pattern of erasure and minimization continues in her grave She's buried in fact very near my home in allegheny cemetery and and I wanted to see her grave so I went there last December a year ago and I could not find it. I found the Irwin. Whatever real estate big interesting and I thought John has a big slab in all these other or would in a new? Mary's was in the ground. I couldn't find it so they went to the historical sites. Can you help me find this grave. They eventually did find it and she does have a marker. Don't tell me it says wife it doesn't say why it's the size of a brick and it says Mary. Wow that's it Mary tool. Yeah well that does it so to make this right or as a tiny step toward by team at this March there will be an event at the cemetery Tehri. I'm doing a very low key. Nonreligious event to just remember Mary and recognize her in her contribution to this city. Then give little pieces of rope for people to tie on their fingers to remember Mary because when I was that's what we used to do during her finger recognizing her legacy that task too and bringing attention to her story. So anybody in the Pittsburgh area in March. We'll have a link to this on our website. You absolutely should go is open to the public free event and I hope eventually that her family will recognize that she deserves much more than a brick that says Mary give I statue in the center of town statue someone. Someone should create a work of art. Israel rope yes in Mary's honor. What's it called Maccarone off Mary? Yeah Rope artists listening. Please create create a macro. May Mary please. And macro main picture and keep her legacy alive. You know as rope bound together the Lewis and Clark expedition. Pattison Irwin Round Pittsburgh together. Yes and America America huge. "Flu doesn't look as bad. And you could have looking you kind of see the mid west and all that. But then you have New York City that stands out in New Jersey that stands out, so yeah, that could be because there's a lot of people, etc. But California, I mean, they they got a lot of people. I mean, all Saint Louis Detroit. Why is it Michigan? What about well? Michigan's kind of up there. And I'm just noticing that it's the southern border. That seems to be really hit high with the flow, and what's very odd about that. Is we've been having a warmer winter. It's colder up in the north west. So maybe what's been happening is it because it's been cold. People have been staying indoors and staying away from other people. Maybe rather than staying in the close places, and whatever maybe people are call now, maybe they couldn't get to work. But I find it very fascinating that with a cold spell cold front coming in. You would think more illness? What happened there then the southern warmer areas? Another thought is this have to do with immigration are people coming in bringing Ellis. So the southern states, I don't know. So you look at this. And you just find it just very very odd. Now what other information is the CDC given us. Well, this is very key guys right now, the CDC is saying that the majority of the cases are caused by h one n one now h one n one what the exception of what happened in two thousand nine with that swine flu outbreak, which hit a lot of people the h one n one that we now protect against and what we see during flu season isn't usually as severe as the age three and two h three and two is what not to summer on our butts last year. So this h one n one may for vote I've tried to use a better language here for a softer less severe flu season. So but don't get too excited yet. Don't get excited. Okay. Just a quick issues here with just remind you guys flu season starts in the fall and late in the spring. I've heard it'll end may thirty first usually peaks December to March. So expect higher numbers over the next few weeks. We still don't know how bad this season has got to be. But because of this h one n one news, I I'm a little cautiously optimistic. Remember, the flu is a virus can be treated with antibiotics the number one cause of flu related deaths isn't ammonia so if you're due for a pneumonia shot get your pneumonia shot as well. Go ahead is still get the flu shot if you want flu shots. So we'll kick in usually within two weeks. We are just starting to go into peak season..
