"Network was the number four seed in the tournament beating here the lowest seed to advance this far. We had numerous kingdom all the way down. F- forty fifth so. It did have a good run. Did have a good run. Here's Jake Albrecht to film spotting supporters who votes social network over Moon Rise Kingdom? I love you but you don't know what you're talking about. Sixty one percent of our audience who is clueless. Apparently thank you jake. Moonlight over Richard Linklater's boyhood fifty nine to forty one percent number five taking down a number twelve really strong showing for moonlight playing out. I think as we anticipated to new would be fairly close but thought moonlight had the edge and still though somewhat of a changing of the guard pick. I think this is sort of what I'm talking closer than we would have. Thought we've got to the fall into that category terrence malick the tree of life up against Jonathan Glazer's under the skin a number three seed going against a nineteen seed. Pretty close fifty four to forty six. We then had get out defeating Denise Villeneuve's arrival also four to forty six the number ten seed get out going against what was the Cinderella of the tournament up to this point. We heard from Vinnie in Philly. We need to send a rival to the sunken place as punishment for taking out. Lewin Davis yes. That's what's happened. Arrival did beat inside Louis Davis in round two. We have two more here for you. That would go under the heading. The all Paul Thomas Anderson Edition of upsets the twenty five seed X. McKenna going up against PTA number nine phantom thread. I think some of US. I'm speaking for myself and Sam may have underestimated Alex Garland's X. Mocking but even acknowledging that. There's no way anyone really thought it was gonNA make it to the elite eight and yet here it is taking down Phantom threat. Fifty eight to forty two. I mean. Pta pretty much a sure thing in these tournaments maybe PHANTOM THREAT NOT S. Sure of a thing has the other. Pta Film to fall this shocks me. The number two seed ruined by bracket the number two seed the master going up against number eight seed. Lady Bird and Ladybird wins fifty seven to forty three percent. That is not even really close. Not really and yes of course. I'm a little bit despondent. That my beloved Paul Thomas Anderson my beloved. The master is out of the tournament. But if you think I'M GONNA lose any sleep about Greta GERWIG and lady bird advancing my number five film of the twenty tens. Well then you don't know me well enough. I can totally live with us but it does mean there's no PTA there's no cone brothers Tarantino. No score says he or Wes Anderson in the tournament any and that no one would predict have predicted that I mean that's not a landscape. You expected maybe some of those would have fallen when it came down to the final four but the elite eight. You would've thought they'd have to be in so as we look at those elite eight. We have two best picture winners. We have three writer director debuts. And you've got in terrence malick. George Miller David fincher the KGB veterans. The first matchup for you terrence. Malick the tree of Life Against Bong Jun. Ho's parasite is what most people thought was the best film of Two Thousand Nineteen. It was the best picture winner. Is it going to advance to the final four Josh? The way things are going yeah. I don't steamrolling competent. Ab It's recency. Maybe it's that as we did hear from Adam. Grossman a lot of people. Do refer to it as the best film of the decade. They were very comfortable doing that. After it only being out a couple of months so that could be helping into. But I'm going to say it's probably GonNa go that way. Yeah and the tree of life is a bit of a polarizing film. There are plenty of very smart. Sin Files I know who? Don't care for that movie at all and I gotta be honest. I don't know anybody who parasite and didn't pretty much love it so I'm with you. I think it's going to advance. We know how we're going to vote. We're going with Malik in the tree of life right. We're going down with Malik. Parasite was in my top. Ten but tree of life was number three life. Was your number two. That's right okay. Greta GERWIG already said it might number five film of the decade. But it's going up against Jordan peels. Get Out. It's the battle of twenty seventeen debuts and get out for you was the movie made your top. Five right Josh. Yeah and this is just a brutal showdown here. I know we're getting down to the elite eight but still have to lose one of these new filmmakers. That not have them be able to advance a really kinda sucks David ventures the social network in this one I think is going to be a battle to the end versus Berry Jenkins Moonlight Moonlight Higher. On your best of the decade list. Social Network higher for me. It was in my top fifteen I believe so I have to give the edge to that one. You're definitely going. Moonlight Barry Jenkins if beale street could talk also made my top twenty. Yeah I'm going moonlight. I wouldn't be surprised to see the social network. Get this though that seems to be. Even though it's the older film it also seems to be beloved by younger viewers. Young has younger fans also so I could see that maybe beating out moonlight finally George Miller's Mad Max fury road versus Alex Garland's X. McKenna. I mean who knows what's going to happen here with X. Markkanen showing that. It had this sort of support which I'm glad to see but yeah I mean Mexican railroad the best film of the decade to me so I'd voting and I think I had it at number seven may be number six. I'm with you. Fury road is my tech. This might be the end for X. Mock and you can vote now over a film spotting dot net slash madness. You can leave a comment. We might just share that on an upcoming episode once again. Film spotting dot net slash madness? Let's go and look at the leaderboard. We had six hundred seventy eight prediction brackets submitted after the sweet sixteen. We have another new name at the top. It was justin taped last week. Who dropped down to twelfth while still pretty good showing. Yeah not quite the drop off that you had josh. We'll get to that in a moment week. One leader Mark Chaplain all the way down to ninety nine. Ouch that means that we have a new leader. He is Kosta or Costa. I'm sorry I'm GonNa go Kosta in Washington DC. He shared a little bit of feedback. Is We reached out to him to congratulate him on being in I at this point? That's so cool that I'm in I. I suspect I won't be there for long since I don't have mad. Max Movie Non next round but fingers crossed. My name is cost. I live in Washington DC. I've been listening for a little over a year now and I absolutely love it. I look forward to it every week. Thank you for your compelling discourse on the things we all love. It is so comforting knowing. There's a whole community of people as passionate about movies as me will thank you for the kind words and indeed. There's a whole community out there. Voting in film Spotting Mattis. Kosta did pretty impressive work. Your Josh. He picked all eight of the sweet sixteen matchups correctly his final four moonlight X. McKenna get out and parasite to win it all. It doesn't look bad it doesn't look bad. Does it now about how we did? It's our bracket challenge me. You our producer Sam. Mike Meriden the founding father of film Spotting Madness. We do this little prediction bracket thing. And there's no price for first place but if finish dead last you have to watch whatever Adam. Sandler movie comes on Net flicks this year. Can you still all the title atom of the Adam Sandler movie you had to walk? I was GONNA say so well in this tournament Josh. And now you're going to have to keep in mind. Whatever new title comes out. I think it was called murder mystery of the right goods. Our drew mysteries. The one I watched as last year's loser we have a new leader in the clubhouse coming up from fourth place going all the way up to one. Is Mike Merigan? So he's in one hundred and thirty third place overall. He got six out of eight predictions right in this round as far as points there are one hundred sixty eight possible remaining for Mike. He's the only one with all final four predictions left Ademir and second-place hundred forty seventh place overall five out of eight correct. You have one hundred forty. Three possible remaining Samson third. He's at two hundred ninth place. He got four out of eight right and has one hundred and forty eight points possible. Remain here I am two hundred fiftieth place. This hurts three out of eight right. I only have one hundred six possible remaining. Just what's the bottom line is their path for me to not lose. I think there is a path. Okay it's a treacherous look. I don't think he should have a lot of optimism but I didn't have the strength. There's been about four different times this week where I started trying to do the math and even getting down to the elite eight. It's still a little bit too complicated for me. A Guy who only took one math class in his four years of a liberal arts education. So Josh I'm leaving it alone we're gonNA see how it all plays out over the coming weeks but here's what we know. Mike is in a pretty good spot. He's got get out beating the social network to win at all. Mad Max fury road in the tree of life round out his final four so he's in pretty good shape. I lost the master from my final four in this last round but I still have bad next fury road my eventual winner along with moonlight and parasite the bad news. Yeah you had the master winning at all. It's out but you still got the social network fury road entry of life left and Sam who it seems like ages ago lost two of his final four. The Wolf of Wall Street so remember I had written off. He still has mad. Max Fury Road Alive winning it all and parasite as the runner up so having your number one. Choice having eventual champion. Be Out of the tournament. It doesn't bode well for you all right. Well I'M NOT GONNA look up. What Adam Sandler has coming out quite yet? If you submitted a bracket you probably know where to check to see. How you're doing in the standings look for the view bracket link on the madness homepage and then click on the predictions link so far sneaking a peek and how the voting is going three of them. They're not very close but at one. I said the social network versus moonlight. It seems to change the leader seems to change our to our thousands of votes in already. And we're talking about differences depending on when you look of seven votes six votes ten votes. It is GONNA come down to the wire and can't wait to see how it plays out if you WANNA participate again. Film spotting dot net slash madness.

He didn't anticipate there would would be more than a couple of customers in so at the bank upon their arrival Davis was extremely uncomfortable with the number of pistols and ammunition I had had brought along the ratliff ray assured him the guns were mostly show and it was highly unlikely that would be required to shoot the bank cashier. Alex Bees was nine two of said he would never risk being injured. Just obey a hero in a hold up. The group arrived in Cisco a little before. Midday ratliff directed hill to park the Buick. "Marshall ratliff soon told Hill and Helms that he had a grand plan to rub the first National Bank of Cisco during the busy Christmas period. When the bank held a large sum of money? RATLIFF was familiar with the buildings Laya and knew it had a rear door that I've been directly into an alleyway which would make very straightforward escape route. He believed that the robbery would be quick. And Daisy is all they had to do was go in through the front door point a gun at an employee until they handed over the money. Then offense with quietly out the back the other men would not quite as enthusiastic about the idea. Considering that ratliff had previously asleep bankcorp robbing a bank and was only a free man. Thanks to a timely financial bribe produced by his mother they also reminded him about the five thousand dollar reward on offer. Anyone who killed a bank robber ratliff remained convinced. He's plan pointing out that all banks wearing short food and that real professional bank robbers rarely got shot. He believed that regular citizens brave enough to mess with armed bandits saying take a small banker and poke a gun at him. He won't argue killed. You showed up to your quit you off to some convincing. Helms agreed to participate in the crime. Kill remained hesitant that when ratliff told him that job would earn at least ten thousand dollars a pace he's interest grew. The trio spent many evenings planning their attack. They put their trust Austin Midge. Tell it by asking her to purchase supplies. They didn't Wanna be witnessed buoying including bandages dawn then snack foods for the road without asking any questions. Meech Board everything they requested. Bradley knew exactly where everyone needed to bay during the robbery in order to secure the toy at bank while he collected the whole from this safe and they just needed one more person. Helms said the perfect man for the job another rex Khan who was experienced with firearms. Although the men didn't plan on shooting anybody they wanted to appear as though they knew what they were doing when carrying their weapons as chosen died approached. The Wood Bay both member member of the crew became bedridden with the flu. Helms and hill took this as an omen suggesting. They delayed the robbery until the new year but ratliff if was adamant as he had determined that the bank would contain the most money on the last Friday before it closed for Christmas Helms suggested chested. He's in law. Louis Davis might fit the Bill Davis had never banning trouble with the law before but the young man had a large family to support and tomes was certain he would be eager for the opportunity to provide for them for years to come Radley until wet hesitant about Davis's lack of criminal experience but does that we're running out of options. They agreed to median Davis seemed agreeable and dependable enough to get the job done and so was brought in on their plan on Thursday December. Twenty Two nineteen twenty seven the day before the robbery ratliff had a to funnel issues to sort out while the other three men had never had any business enciso before ratliff space was well known around town including by the police. Chief Meech tell it had been sewing a Santa Costume for the holiday season and ratliff asked to borrow it image happily obliged the fun part of the plan was the source a getaway vehicle. None of the men owned a car so they around the local neighborhoods until they found a navy blue buick with the case in the ignition and a full tank of gas. Twenty three nineteen twenty seven. The full men said off in the Buick Nick for the one hundred fifty mile journey to Cisco avoiding driving through logic towns where they might garner attention has denied that destination. The Nation ratliff went over the planning detail once again. He knew the names of the first national bank employees as likely to be on Judy that day and presumed Alex fees would be the cashier's desk and jewel po would Bain saw the first tell us cage. "For your service. Mr Drivers hemispheres. Trying to say thank you. Thank you for your service for sure. Speaking of which we talked cover now. How Fun Dot Org just for a nanosecond? There's never been a national Emergency Fund for men and women in Law forcement. It's all Broken up into cities and states and the like wounded warrior tone program for the military. The amount officers killed in the line of duty all on how many come on gotta drop at listen. It's the police. Being a policeman in the past came with some physical baggage. You Get stabbed or you could get shot or you could get something but you had the respect of the community that you're serving and get fucking buckets of water dumped on your head bye goddamn nine year old and then the bucket thrown in the fucking bucket thrown at us so now it used to be well. I may get shot by a gang banger but I have the appreciation of the community. I serve now. It's neither and most politicians bailed on Youtube somehow. decided in this fucking ass backwards. Society Sidoti were slowly transitioning to that the people who arrest the bad people are the reason those people are in prison. Well technically yes. They are car but they're serving the community and they're trying to get the fucking bad people off the fucking street and we somehow demonize the people that are in charge of our safety because we're fucking walking idiots and the fucking politicians but a real this shit in. Yeah I'm fucking sick of it my clear. Okay it's fucking bullshit. Ah Everybody Oh these guys are the prisoner of the school. The prison pipeline the cops grabbing stop and Frisk stopped. They always seem like superheroes to meet literally putting on armor you. You know to protect and serve the way that the superheroes were in comic books but this was coming to life And also for my whole life for whatever reason I walked passing officer and said Thank you for your service because it seemed like any time someone does a job that is outside of their own Personal personal agenda career. You know the idea that you would go into the streets and and and look for the bad guys as it were and to try to remove them from from a a otherwise thoughtful and caring society on paper is a must and should be celebrated and should be honored on a on a minute by minute basis let alone hourly or weekly or once a year so the first one the second one is catastrophic injury. These officers who were catastrophically injured in line of duty turned over to insurance company. Always have to hire a lawyer and sue for very basic things like the proper wheelchair they really are left. If you don't haven't been on the fourth long enough to have a pension and all these things These two areas of concern of really help the families of the men and women in blue. And you know in the case of suicide there off given the last paycheck which isn't enough for the funeral. Let alone groceries so the idea. This National Emergency Fund is to help these families in in their times of need and and these officers have a life beyond their catastrophic injuries as called cover now fund dot Org. Yep Thank you let's stop demonizing folks that are enforcing yeah. We'll everyday's a slow news day right right so we have to look if it bleeds. It leads that's always been the case with news. WHO's right? It's only gotten worse so we only hear about the bad officers out there doing bad things we never hear about the heroics of these people on a on a on a minute by minute basis. Well well it's also kind of thing where it's like look there are a small percentage of every group that are not great at what they do you and maybe even bad sheriff and maybe even intentionally bad there's accountants that are bad guys who work at malls that are banned there's going to be a certain percentage of cops. In percentage of firemen certain percentage look what percentage at schoolteachers are great. fucking heroes. Kiss my ass. I've had fucking too good schoolteachers out of one. Hundred Twenty eight my life. It's a horrible an average so yes there are a couple of bad cops out there. There's just a couple of bad everything users predators coralline Cox folks. We have to build a life around those people have to build a narrative around those people. Let's not let's not okay Let's see all right. Go ahead sir. Well most of us have heard this story at least know some of the broad strokes but in a candid interview Burley's therein opened up about the night. Her mother killed her father. bombshell start. No charges were filed as it was deemed in Self-defense. But that is the pretty much the full account of what happened that night. That's hot off the press. I heard that interview live yesterday with Terry. Gross walkout drive address. I like the family. Shirley was going to go for her. I got the book Mr Booths. He went for his pistol South Africa South Africa. Then we had the pool man he was. He went for his gun gardner gun and before forty. Don't have to be in Los Angeles to see the cracks in the facade. New Yorkers well built at that Jews originals like the Hebrews the Hebrew who's a lot in building these sounds but the in fact a piece of architecture falls and pinpoints the head of architecture and architects. "We just add George Sodano on Nick last segment and George thinks with LeBron AD and coups MMA, the Lakers might be the best team in the NBA where do you put them now, just in the overall rankings of let's start just what the Western Conference after this move to get Anthony Davis? I mean, they're going to be a hell of a lot better JD, but I have not ready to believe that if Davis who has a track record of getting hurt. Lebron who got her for chunk last year in coups is enough. Even in a depleted west. I, I wanna see how the rest of the Meuse shakeout because guys, the team that really hits home to me as far as they put tential star in the making is the clippers and if they get coli, that's who I put my money on right now on paper, obviously, LeBron and AD that is formidable but there's just not going to be a lot around them in the season because they just got it the rest of their roster. So my at first, okay, that's based food, of course, if they stay healthy, they're gonna make some noise. But I don't believe that team depending on how else the roster fills out is going to be to push all the way through Nick, what do you think of what New Orleans wave able to get in return? Three first round picks having veterans like Ingram and ball and heart around, Zion Williamson, the covered definitely not bear for Zion and the pelicans. Now with those veterans on that team. So now how do you look in New Orleans? I like what David Griffin did a lot here because they waited and waited and waited and he got a ton of value in return Griff clearly believes that he can develop these picks in get them to a point overtime where they're really gonna help New Orleans, Lonzo ball hasn't been the player that a lot of people thought he was going to be here in Los Angeles. I think actually beating Orleans take some more pressure also put him was Williamson, and that's going to be interesting to watch on top of the fact that a lot of people have speculated this ready with that number four pick, if you've got that are looking to move up on Thursday. Can go back to those teams say okay, let's see how much you're willing to offer me and he start stockpiling asset. So. I like the the way that New Orleans went about this Davis. Made it very clear. He wasn't going to stay in, if they felt like this was the best deal. I don't care if he was going to LA or not take what is best for your franchise and Griff believes that he can develop and make it work for her. Dell's with us Dickerson, and hold on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Let's move to the warriors Nick you're in that locker room after the game six loss. Did it feel like it was the end? Or do you think that this warriors team has another run left in them? They were pretty defied JD, and they, they would define it should be noted the four knowing the full ecstatically clay. I wholeheartedly believe that the warriors have at least one more run in them. They're looking at next year. Now, as kind of a gap here because you've got to get everybody physically healthy, and you've got to get them mentally healthy. They are depleted after five straight runs to the finals. It, of course, so much of our Kevin Durant decides doing a couple of weeks. What kind of player he comes back after the killing guys throw out this? Draymond green has a year left on his deal. I believe Draymond is go as hard as he can to try with that player of the year ward Vic season. But if he wins the award, and he becomes all VA position for potential supermax and next summer. So the warriors have some really tough decisions to make, especially in regard to invest in a dream on long term. I know he's beloved within the organization but in the moment that Klay deal gets done here in short order in a couple of weeks. They'll wait to see what Katy decides to do, but I really believe that if they can keep this core together. Even in a year where they're going to non have all their guns in place. They can make one more push at least a year from now. It'd be the team that we all think they can be great stuff buddy. Appreciate nickel talk soon. Okay. Got it. All right. Nick free. Del all over the trade here with eighty to the Lakers and the warriors on the shell Pennzoil performance line. He says that he's not impressed by what the Lakers have done. He's doesn't think it's enough. I did mention the injury situation with Anthony Davis. Imagine a healthy anti along with veteran LeBron. And with my an there could be another addition with this liquors team free agency. They will be team to beat for sure. Let's welcome. Any ESPN front office insider, Bobby marks with us on Dickerson and hood on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. So bobby. Let's talk about what the Lakers are at right now with their financial situation with AD coming over how much money, theoretically is going to be left for them to spend and keep improving that roster. A lot of depend on if New Orleans will cooperate in push this trait back thirty days from from June, thirtieth, and I say that because there's, there's two different scenarios that you can look at it. If, if the Lakers go about and do this trade degree, and do the trade on July six that, that cap space would be from thirty two point five million down to about about twenty seven million because the Lakers would be using, you know the some of that room as a buffer. The money doesn't match up because the fourth pick in the draft is not have any value until it signed. And then you can't you have to wait thirty days to trade it. So that, that's one scenario if they if they do it, you know, on, on the on a six you know, they'll have twenty million dollars in room and the likelihood. If you are New Orleans, there's, there's no incentive for you to get a deal deal finalize in August. I, July thirty to help to help the, the Lakers. Out here. So I think a lot of it will depend on. You know, of course, how they on it, and I think, you know, that was asking what I think about trade for the Lakers TV to, to be announced. I mean, we don't know what they'll be based on their tracker record last agency. You know, adding agents has not been a strong suit of that front office here. So we still don't know what who is else is coming because you're still some work to do Bobby, what was the stumbling block? For other teams try to acquire Anthony Davis like the Celtics. For instance, her the Celtics were not in this mix here. Why I don't know how often could get in the mix. When you don't know what's going to happen with. I really don't. I, I know saw the article by Sports Illustrated with Rich Paul saying that he would be like one year rental. But, you know, for the Lakers for the for the Celtics get in there certainly would likely cost them Jason Tatum. Now. What happens if Tyree leaves? And then you Louis Davis. Next year, and now you're draft or really depleted here. And I think that's, that's too much of a risk more risk than last year. With quite Leonard still had you start, Anthony Davis. Kyri on on the Rod Davis there. So, I think with, with what did pelicans were able to get in, you know, that's a, that's a hall. I mean that's better than with Denver. In two thousand eleven four for Carmelo Anthony. And it's you know, we don't even know what those, those feature picks are going to turn out where they're going to be right now. So I think what they gave out in a lot better than Boston probably could give up. If you took Jason Tatum out of the equation. Talk about Bobby marks on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. I think Bobby it's pretty safe to say the Lakers will make a strong push to make the playoffs for the first time in a long time next season. But I mean, in the hierarchy of the Western Conference, how good can they be with this AD in LeBron pairing why I still think they're behind certainly Houston? And in Denver. I think we'll see what happens with Portland, as far as what they'll be able to do with their bench. They're they are better than Golden State right now. The Lakers are based on with Dern Duran in Klay likely most next year. So, you know, I think they're probably they're probably anywhere from that three to four range of, of course, you can make an argument that they, you know, they could be the best team win. We when season next year based on, if they were able to add some, some key free agents here. So, yeah, this is yeah. You don't do this type of trade, and miss the playoffs next year, especially if the pick is going to be a, a two thousand twenty unprotected first and minutes. Maybe. Thousand twenty two we're still waiting to hear that. But yeah, this is a playoff team better. They said a lot of it will depend on what they do with that money. They, hey they need a point guard. They need that shooting around this group Bobby, what did you think of David Griffin the job that he did. And if you're in his shoes, are you rolling the dice on that draft pick is that is that number four pick valuable or do you wanna flip it for even another quality veteran of for the roster? If you know it's a textbook trade on how to how to move on it really is. And especially for player on the last year contract, he didn't want to be there. I mean you didn't really have your leverage was limited. Sometimes it takes the perfect storm in here comes here comes the Lakers year. And I think. Griff being able to agree to a deal on a late Saturday, five days before the, the draft is a big coup because now gives them time to shop that pick if he wants to give them time for his his scouts to kind of, you know, form an opinion on know, three or four players that they would consider taking if they don't, if they don't move that here. So the gives them just many options, you get ball who when healthy is, is, you know, certainly, as a service of point guard to put a long holiday, and I think playing off the ball is important. "Well, we have lots of Christmas music coming up on the show live Christmas music in studio with people who can really sing sorry about that Harry. But I mean, really truly talented people are here and we've done this now several years in a row and sitting across from me is the men who started this all out limit on you Chicago police chaplain. Bob Montelongo we met at a function that had to do with puppymills, actually. And then I heard about your daughter who were going to hear from in a moment. And we're going to talk about with Emily as well. What what she may be doing? I mean, we may see Emily. I'm one of those TV shows. I think you know, where you have exceedingly talented people and now she's doing well, we'll get there. This has been though Bob kind of like a roller coaster year for you. I suspect and for the police department, it sure has it's been quite difficult these past while this whole year, but it's more specifically this past month and a half. Yeah. Yeah. When the Chicago police lose one of their own, and how many was that this year line of duty deaths? We had four this year. And what would the as a terrible question asked that seems to be way above the average for is that about right? That's above the average. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And and the last two in a terrible, no circumstances. Good. But got a completely unexpected kind of circumstance. I'm talking about the officers that were hit by the train. And you're at all of these and to see their families. You know, when you go to the services because you are after all the Chicago police department a chaplain there, it must be heartbreaking on the other hand. What from my perspective? What's what's really interesting and? Not surprising and warms your heart. A little bit is the way. The city comes together. And certainly the way other Chicago police come together for their own. Yeah. That's correct. The city came together in every line of duty death. We had we saw a lot of outpouring of love you see people on the street holding up, you know, so we hear all these negative things about the Chicago police department, but I think most I don't know maybe I'm wrong and friends I want to hear from you three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred all throughout the show. You can text you can call three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred. But the feeling I get is that most people cheer for the men in blue and women in blue if you will and understand that. You're you're certainly serving all of us. And I think it's allowed minority that express otherwise, I agree with you there. One hundred percent that is a small minority that but they're vocal, but they're vocal their vocal. And did you hear? I mean when when. According to the reports, I read in the newspapers and pictures also there were people lined along the streets holding signs who did not personally know these officers. That's correct. And we saw that very much so with with the murder of commander Paul Bauer that was that was you know, we should never forget what happened there, right? Would his murder and following subsequent murders that we had or accidental deaths that having shown a lot of outpouring of love by the people on the street. While they might be a silent majority. You do see the love. And I think it's stronger. Actually, feel it when you use or more importantly, do you think the families feel it? I really hope they do. And I believe they do. And I really hope they do because you know, I've been in the processions, and you look out and you see the people standing alongside the street. You see them with their signs of people from all from all over the city just standing out there. And I find it hard not to start crying while. I'm driving. Yeah. The processions because it's beautiful of g whiz. It's christmas. So let's talk about some good things. So this year. There was also some great stuff that that went on. What was what was one that would be a blessing in in your eyes? And by the way, by the way, you are going to be. So you've been on the show before many times. Right. You are going to be shocked and amazed at at the special guest that I was able to arrange. Okay. And and you of all the people on the planet will say, oh my gosh. I cannot believe that you got this guest on the show. Should I get my pen ready for an autograph? No is going to be on by lucky. So I gave something away. It's a he we were lucky and and again three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred if you wanna guess as who this guest is going to be you can text or call in and you're more than welcome to guess. But I don't know how people could because this is such an amazing at a very busy person. And and and we were so grateful to have gotten through to his people who people who have people who have other people, and and yet we were able to snag this guy as a guest and end of all of the folks in Chicago you well, and maybe one or two others would appreciate who we have on excited. I I can tell I could tell so a highlight of the year for you. Well, there's so many to mention and now that I'm thinking about it. They all seem kind of small, but I think a highlight of the year for me would be. You know, what I think I'm gonna mention our newest member of our chaplains unit. His name was Husni Salonika. He's represents the Muslim faith, and it was quite. A great thing to happen for our unit to have him in our unit were led by father, Dan, brand are directing chaplain. We have chaplain Kimberly. Louis davis. Joseph Jackson, the most famous rabbi Moshe wolf, and it's a great team. But I think I'm very thankful for having. Yes. I think that's terrific. We have you know, we should do. So I do a podcast here. Either that or when I fill in some time to do either a show or a podcast with all those members of the team that would be fun that would be fun to hear all these different perspectives. Because essentially, and and you tell me because I am no students of any of this. But you are they're all the same. I mean, in many ways, all of these religions that you mentioned have the same fundamental beliefs that it's all about like sounds hokey. But it is Christmas still peace on earth and love at the end of the day. I mean, the the beliefs are and if again, I'm no student to this. But but the religions aren't all that far from one another it seems they're not very far in that. They want to promote love for us to be loving to one another to give ourselves for our fellow brothers and sisters. So I agree with you one hundred percent. All right. Let's go to the phones. Three one two nine eight one seventy two hundred. And then I think we're ready. We go to the music also a WGN radio legend is retiring we've lost. That's not the way. I wanna put it. Judy pilot has moved onto because she wouldn't like to hear me say at that way. But the great newscaster Judy pilot has said I've had enough of working with people like Steve Dale, I wanna move on to do better things. So she is doing just that and our own Ben Cortez and Aubrey mom power are doing the same both engineers. So we'll talk to Aubrey and reminiscent bit with him. And also talked to you. And I hope you turned down your radio. Joe you are on this radio show on WGN. Hi, that's part of the equation, turn it down. Listen, I would just like to mirror which you mentioned the pastor before there is a gigantic silent majority. That are too busy doing their day to day tasks taking care of their family religion so forth and so on, but they have a tremendous respect not leaflet police fire paramedics. Yeah. Patrol armed services the whole nine yards. They don't have time to protest. No, I I I'm glad to hear from you. And we have one two three four five six seven text essentially saying the same thing. So I am not surprised a merry Christmas. T Joe shame to you guys. Thank you you like Christmas music. Oh, absolutely. Well, you are about to hear some of the best from some talented, folks, we will do that. When we come back on WGN. It is eleven sixteen. Now,.

"There is an old sort of thing. If you don't camera there's some part of the probably gives about ten percent because you know, that you know, he doesn't do that. If he's off camera. He's doing exactly what he did if not more than he did when he was on. When Margo was saying about her audition for Wall Street, just that you don't expect that from even a lesser actor. But. So it's incredible. So it was yeah. It was amazing to it with him. So how about the the type of work that you do in a movie that's of that size. Is it as possible to protect and sort of specific with performance when you have so much else going on around you such a giant machine? As you can do on a any. I don't know. I mean, I do think this was this was different in that. It was the first time I'd ever been required to sort of look certain way, I think God never really had to play someone who was the subject of the two anyone's desire to the plate that was never really important before. So I think I probably fell to nodded that was probably a self awareness to that for me. But then she's very self aware. And so I think sometimes these things can help you even though they feel like problems at the time. I mean, certainly, there's a huge machine going on around you. But again, like the way that he works very creative. It doesn't feel. You know, he makes he makes an environment and allows you to play just feels very real because you'll surrounded by literally hundreds of people. But yeah, I probably felt like somewhat buy on occasion. When I allowed my kind of insecurities come into the experience a whole incredible. And watching it was a fire. Remember, the I haven't covered Ken every year. But that was my first time ever can in the opening night. Was you guys with? Pouring. But it was just this whole big like the movie just very splashy event. And I wonder to see yourself in that kind of a movie for the first time might be kind of cool. I I remember about two years later being in London going for a run. And I can't remember why? But my mind's that have wanted to that. And I I believe I was in that film weird. And like, it's still wiz. I was in that film. And I yes, I think there was something so stunning on the record. But with leeann Toby in Basim. And being as a coast. But incredible cost was was totally surreal. And even now feels like the world needs. That same year was a very different scale movie. But with another great in this case filmmakers, plural with Cohen brothers inside said Louis Davis, you're playing not a huge part. But this woman Jean folksinger who is very pissed at the loser. Who may have knocked her up. It's not clear whether it was him or somebody else. Was I don't know chronologically that sometimes obviously movies get made and then released the different orders. But was that a response or where the movies that came after Gatsby response to get be like, let's hunker down and go back to some more smaller. I came over full. I came over to LA full. I think something like the Hollywood or something for shame. And and it was that weekend. I flew over from Sydney was she's gets being I did know tape in much in my hotel room for the Coen brothers. And and so I got it like the job when I was shooting Gatsby wrapped Gatsby like the ferry jumped on a plane went to New York and recorded the soundtrack full inside Davis. And then I think shortly after we shot, so I took off my sort of blown daisy wig on my gene wig and was swearing like a trooper. And yeah. That was that was amazing. I mean, I never in a million years imagined, I would be in this film. It felt like a totally different and somehow very American, and maybe just sort of an inaccessible to British active. I felt like it was to me. I'm particularly in that kind of Paul. But yeah, it was I mean, it was just amazing with skirt end because I drive and that is one of think one of their best movies. But beyond that, then was a I mean, you haven't gone and done unless I'm blanking another kind of Gatsby scale kind of big studio glossy movie, not that there's anything wrong with with those in in many cases..

"This is a tidy link here. Isn't that Adam? So let's work on a book called, whereas the dude, yes, collaborated on we doing few books with a publisher Lawrence king. I'm one of them is I, I guess you can describe it a bit better, but basically riff on, whereas Wally with dude from the bigger Persky. Yeah, it's the dude getting lost on different film sets, and I think we've got twelve together. And we've gotta find him in as many places as possible. We've we've set up some dude decoys on each of the pages as well. So it's even more difficult to find him. We've also got twenty extra things to spot illustrations for each film. Yeah, fantastic. But let's talk about Ascii so Shum. What's your relationship with this films is one you've watched many times before you did the boot. It's one of my favorite films. They come by this fan and inside Davis is probably. But yeah, I've seen the big lebowski not times. Yeah, I think I watched it when I was at university, and then anyone who came into my dorm room would be greeted with me telling them about this film. So I would, yeah, it'd be kind of initiation from my end. It's such a university o over six forms of film. So much in the key texts for any sixteen seventeen eighteen year old is that you guys out of David. Remember when I first watched it but must be the foam of those of watch the most. Maybe not my favorite, but is rewards value on this film is like incredibly higher. I can never remember which was which, but either this or l. a. confidential is the first eighteen film the. I like go into walked up to the box office and we're like, big lebowski please. And and they and they gave me a ticket for it. I remember it was the opening night Neal's, absolutely packed, and I think what had to sit in from rose thing. I think I was sixteen when I saw it and I, I'm not sure I understood it. I remember finding it quite funny, but a lot of the human and particular plot going straight. I've my head, which I guess is what happened to a lot of people. I mean, I think with this film you have to like take a few steps back from and it's not just a straight comedy is not like a fiery brothers fill with you kind of ripe comic character. And he's just doing these funny scenes. That is a big thing happening here and his riffing on all these kind of LA Noir fell homes, and they love the books of James m Cain and Dashiell Hammett and mixing of hardboiled detective novel with this of sunny stone goofy comedy. And it's the magical mix. Kind of think, maybe it shouldn't work. I think that's what makes the the number. They are able to fuse these things together and and make them tick such a fascinating hodgepodge that taking Raymond Chandler tropes or a story there. It's a period movies. Well, it's in the early nineties, so it's a few years out of step with when it was released, but then also the characters. You have this fascinating pack stories. They're all based on real people that came across on you. Like John Milius was the inspiration for for Walter subject, an outsized force by John Goodman that's become almost like on the dude is absolutely. I almost think looking back and watching this film, it's almost like the Simpsons. Almost every scene gives you a quote or a line that pops up in everyday you. So I think that is the simple beauty, the film, every character, no matter how big or small, how much screen time the have is given at least one or two, I Kona lines. That's the key really. I mean, that's I think that's why it has its injuring appeal, including David fearless video artist has Has gotten gotten him. him completely. Okay. Maybe his wasn't. He didn't have a line, but his performance. Cackling. Yeah. Yeah, I I can go back and watching this now and maybe I'm the same few now. The inside Louis Davis is my favorite komo's me. We as well. Especially this this later period Coen's where they feel much more assured in that doing to see them at the stage where they're throwing so much into this film in almost indulgent level. Not everything pays off rewatching it. Now the plot in particular drags little bit..

"Check for you right now, six forty seven shifting gears and talking about suicide prevention, particularly among first responders in particular members of the Chicago police department. This past week. We saw the tragic death of a veteran Chicago police officer deciding to take their life in the parking lot of I believe it was. Police station and joining us on the line to talk about prevention suicide prevention efforts that are being initiated by Chicago police department is the man who is the head of the Chicago police department and a friend of this program. And I'm talking about police superintendent Eddie Johnson as well as one of the chaplains for CPAP, and that is chaplain Kimberly Louis Davis, and we're also joined by the Ellen see manning, professor of the department of psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience at university of Chicago. And that is Dr Emile cacao joining us in studio. First of all superintendent Johnson as always thanks for being with us. I know you're on your way to the airport there, but just give me your overall impressions about the tragedy that has been occurring among CPT officers where in according to some data that the. Suicide rate is some sixty percent higher than the national average. Yeah. Good morning and thanks for having me again. Always a pleasure and good morning to the game. But I tell you it's. It's a difficult thing, you know, wrestle around with the officer. They put their life this past week, I personal relationship with her. And it's tough, you know. But at fifty one years old if I'm not mistaken, right? Yeah. I think she had twenty seven years on the department. I've worked in Kashmir district at one time for about three years as a sergeant. And then she was a secretary. But I tell you I think that people forget sometimes that these first responders are not machine they're not will by you know, people. So they still have to juggle the pressures of a job like this. Whether it be police officer firefighter, and then they also have to juggle the pressures of just normal life like everyone else does. And and you know, sometimes it can be overwhelming and difficult. So you know, we we have lots of things in the past couple of years there hope. Really, what kind of let them know that there is health out there that they are not because life in general can be tough sometimes, and you know, so we're just trying to do whatever we chant to let them know. They're not alone. And do a better job of providing. So you have a series of videos that you posted online four Chicago police officers and are called you are not alone. I don't think those guys are all going to be healthy, but I hope a lot more. I'm not playing Davis if it's Blaine gabbert. Right, but I feel pretty confident Mario is going to be healthy. I like him as a borderline number two receiver this week, and I like him more NPR than I do. None. I mean, everything says that market Mario is on on track to play this week. So yes. Yeah, I don't want anybody playing adverts play. Do you like Corey Davis or will fuller in this game? As will play in this game Davis, assuming four place. If they're both flex options for your team, I think there's more upside in fuller than there is in Davis. Yeah, but there's probably downside, right. I don't agree because Davis we should expect grunted and targets. Yeah. But what is he done with those targets? Like last week is another example of him underachieving, which is frustrating. This is a better match of form than what he had last week, but if the quarterback isn't protected and the quarterbacks, not one hundred percent, I'm gonna have a hard time trusting him even if he does get ten targets. And I think to Shawn Watson, really missed having willfuller or somebody with, you know, downfield speed almost wonder watch, let Let you you know. know unless fuller was standing in line. I don't know. He had time. He wasn't rushed every sin. No, because he was looking looking at the line. He wasn't looking downfield. Yeah, he did. A lot of his is we're not downfield a lot last week, but he also took his time dropping back like the pocket was collapsing around him and he just he couldn't pull the trigger when he was looking downfield. I think he misses having that deep target. I think that's his. I think that's his check down. All right. All right. I got. I think that that's his check down guy. So willfuller plays. I, I like the idea of him going off one or two. How do we feel about Shawn Watson. I'm still starting if I have them. I wanna have another quarterback on my team if I have them because now I'm starting to get worried about him surviving. He's gonna have a top five week. I like him. I don't like him quite as much as it. Sounds like Jamie does these top ten for me, but I would start Alex Smith over. Would you start Mahomes or Watson? I got that question of bunch. I've got what's in one spot. I had a moment watts. Mahomes one spot ahead of Watson. Okay. So Watson is the start Tennessee running backs, discuss Dion Lewis has an amazing matchup, big opportunity. The titans are at least smarter about their play, calling the shoe than they were last year. I don't think they're gonna try and. Run into the teeth of that Texans run defense a lot that's bad for Derrick Henry, and it's gonna be good for Dan Lewis. So I like Louis better. I don't think it's close with the offense align being banged up as it is. Louis can overcome that. Henry cannot. Number two running back in both formats for me, Henry is a flex that's you're just hoping towards of Dutch. And this is why, like we said, Bilo on Derrick, Henry should, but I'm really questioning that like their offense of line sucks. If they're not good this year they're going to be hall, doesn't suck. I mean, you have conklin coming back. Oh, gosh. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I got confused about the tax. Think about the Texans right on the Texans. It would be if Lewan plays and conklin plays, it's much better situation for them. They need to be in gains whether the game script is in Henry's favour. That's when he's going to have his best performance. Now, look if that's sixty two yard touchdown run counts, which was a, you know, phantom penalty. It's totally different conversation Henry today, but it didn't. You only got ten carries. That's not the type of narrow where he's gonna have a lot of winning performances. All right. So rank the three rank. These three is flex is Derrick. Henry Dion Lewis, Corey Davis. Louis Davis Henry. Yep. Okay. Any tight ends in this game?
