"Entire family involved, Okay? And that's wonderful. Being with family is great is that I do with mine every day out here, too. I want to kill them. But that will use my God. I promise. Okay, Now it's actually fun. When I came into your story you like sold out of everything right? You have limited. Um It should work now. It's worse now. Every gun that I saw now I should, uh Every firearm I saw I cannot be because the manufacturers are not making guns. They're making them but they're going out faster than they can make him. Brian. What I did notice is you didn't take my head off on the price the gun. He didn't mark up to a cuckoo number at all. You gave me a fair price. I don't believe in marking up in a time of need, And it's a time of need for Most continent. Most people in this dump you again. You know what? That's really cool Right now. That's that. That's that, but I don't know if people are argon knowledge in that when they come into your store, I did When Wait. I walked out. I said, you know, he could have got me for next 2 to $300. He didn't give. He gave me a fair number and everything. You know, race of thereby more rounds like he's going off to war. I don't know what he faces that. I just don't know, but it was. It was a great experience being in your store. It was fun. We had a good time and I learned a lot. And that's why I wanted to come on the show. I'm gonna start asking questions. Okay. Ready? How did you both get in the business? Brian, you want start off. Got until the business because of my military background. Okay, High power shooting, Okay, started shooting at a gun club for a high power team. When they found out that I knew how to on long guns, Military long guns, which they used in high power matches. They came to me and asked. Hey, can I do this? Can I do that? He wanted to get some receivers to change the gun. A new receiver needed a federal license for it. They said you get the license will buy the product from you. Okay? Got in. That's how it started. All right. Johnson came back from college west and worked for Lou Horton distributors. In fact, Lou Horton's was one of the one of Brian's major distributors. So I was a sales rep. I sold accessories and firearms to federally licensed firearms dealers throughout the United States. Don't you got a great radio first? Go ahead. Thanks. I appreciate that. And and I was recruited by the State Firearms Association from my position in sales knew a lot of the board members from the State Association. Because I was very active with firearms activities and recreational and competitive aspect. Okay. That's how you both got started. So Johnson, who is eligible for a license, and I asked you before? Why did some people get licenses? I gotta prove no problem. Some people don't go. All right. So we have to meet both the requirements set forth and federal law and our statutory laws. Those federal law you want on handgun? You wanna buy a handgun from a federally licensed dealer? You have to be 21 not prohibited by federal law. So what would make somebody prohibited by federal law? They've renounced their U. S citizenship. They've been found guilty of a crime punishable by more than two years in state prison or one year in federal prison there in the country illegally. They've been confined for mental illness or drug or alcohol abuse. They're under investigation for felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence in your closet. In most cases, no in Massachusetts is even stricter because we allow chiefs to utilize suitability. So it's not that you've been found guilty of crime. But you have had interaction with Laure enforcement. And they can articulate that You pose a threat to the general public or yourself, Okay? What does one have to do in order to receive the license? They have to take one of 29 different approved basic firearm safety courses. They will apply in the town in which they live or own a business. They will be on that if you own a business Let's say I own a business and Newton I live by right or vice versa. I can stop either, Or we'd say move those locations because they're very difficult. They don't they don't follow mandate set forth in law. They require additional requirements door so you have you have chapter 1 40 sexing on third money, and that's that's up that the guidelines and requirements we want to apply for a license. And once the showing authority has received your application and payment, they have seven days to get that information to the state Police, mass. Department of Mental Health Firearms Red Spiro to make sure that you go off not prohibited by federal law in many departments don't don't follow. That wasn't on the applications for months, and I mean tried getting on application apartment and so many nuns. All right now is in in in court with Lowell for not filing applications in a timely manner. Okay, forget that we're in this pandemic and all the violence that's going on in shape when the real world movie we used to live. But Depending on where you live in the state. Well, you just said, you know, forget noon in Brookline. It's the look that I got my license, right? So they're easier cities and towns to get license. And why is that is that they're just More. Pro. I would say the philosophy of the chief licensing officer, which is the chief of police in that town, we have we have the chief of police in Ashland. Massachusetts, is very, very nice man. Wonderful human being and he says, Listen, I have a lot to follow and even know there's no punishment. Should I break that law? I'm going to follow that long. I'm going to get people's their licenses within 40 days is required by chapter 1 40 section 1 31 8 40 days. Has won 31 years. The citation where you have other departments to say, Wait a second. There's no punishment if we don't meet the requirements set forth and lost. So yet we'll put it on the back burner. Okay. And you never find you think puts blood on the back burner. Absolutely. And you really believe there is always somebody do it? Well, I believe that there is no punishment. That's a fact. Right? They want to stop. It is what I'm saying. What? I'm not saying that they want to stop it. It's just not their priority. Okay? Why is that their priorities? You'd have to speak with them. I know everything. When I was hitting my license. I know many other people applied that year, and they didn't get it. And I did. So I don't know again. And then I got this lecture. You live in this big house. And if you shoot somebody at your firm, and this is okay, Here's my question. I've got one Get a lot of election when you get a license, right? Some places do some dope. Never. I got this one. You live in a big house. So let me give you for instance, if you're standing on top of your foyer of your house and use the same floor Somebody comes into your house. See, they turn their back and blocked the door. Find you right now. I'm looking for second floor down to the front door and I see you. If I shoot you in the back, I'm going on a chip. Maybe. Maybe not. Okay, So here's my aunt. You take my license because I'm shooting you. And I wanna tell you why. I'm not waiting to you charge up up the stairs and then I go into a panic mode. I'm getting you before. What? We have to have your arms wrapped round that back in my home..

"Just thinking about our last guest, Shawn. With his gun story. They set up just paperwork much become a voter registration centre. Imagine if every gun store in America were set up to Baber registered voters. You know that a fair number off? Future hunters. You're not Richard Vogt. You can vote if you're not registered. I don't know what impact of that would be, But it would be a good thing. Generally speaking, if you're a gun store owner What's your take on that? How would How would that work for you mean? Is that something you would do? I just think it's a cool idea. I like the I don't know the can do attitude, the gym said during the break. It's not his responsibility, but it's also all of our responsibility. I think that's a great way of looking at it, but that's just very cool. Okay, I got a gun. Hey, picked up a new gun. How many times have I told you Don't do as I do. Okay? You do as I say. Because Ah, I'm a bad example of what to do on stuff like this. And look, I readily blame it on business. I'm an okay when You should. If you gotta carry a gun, and you should stick to one gun. Learn to use it. Maybe one or two. But because of what I do, I get to play with all of these different guns and try and go to the range and so I have to try him out. We're different guns, and that's not ideal. But it's just not So don't don't do as I do so Remember, I was talking about the 44 special. Smith and Wesson I bought a few months ago 6 24 had made in about 25 years. And I think they only made him for a couple of years, Lou Horton distribute did a run on those three inch barrel. In frame. That's the big frame, but in 44 special Very cool. I like it a lot of fun, and it's different or special. But Looking at it going well, that's That's Kool and the like it, but the same time it's Almost a little silly. "Online hater thank you for your patience what's on your mind Sir I just got to thinking about the five seven and I'm wondering if Katrina purchase to be too much to put in something like a LPR and the reason for thinking of that is it could be the people around them to get back up done for some of these guys carrying the duty weapons or just any of the rest of us well I look to the the chamber pressures for the five point seven to twenty eight cartridge is about fifty thousand PSI Max pressure for eighty three twenty seven federal about forty five so yes it would be more energy but more than that you know I want bigger budget of five seven and a two inch to a half inch barrel is you had better be wearing and this best this suit you're going to have so much fire coming out of that with unburned powder burning in the air it would be awesome I mean I would love to shoot slow motion video at night should something like that but there is a reason that five seven pistols come with longer beryl so you're trying to get some of that power as much as you can burn but you know nothing about that would be cool that would just be like Hey guys watch this that would be now having said all that you know what I would do I don't think you're that's not a bad idea I would just get one and twenty two mag yeah but the velocity is is quite a bit higher in in the five seven minimum will tell me thinking about it is a friend of mine had mentioned that he wanted to get a revolver for a wife but she doesn't like recall and so I got to thinking about the twenty two magnum and the thirty eight special on the five seven from a from a retail standpoint but the lighter ball it seems like it would fall in between the two and still give them a very effective around then the question is going to come in this is theoretical until we get a chance to do it yes what kind of a loss the loss would you have if you went from a se a six inch to a two inch barrel with that culture to figure be substantial I want to say something here that's got a free draw people out if somebody's really recoil sensitive data twenty two right rimfire twenty two long rifle LCR the less is not much I'll stop you right you know what it's a whole lot better than not having a gun and if it's okay if you shoot somebody five or six times in the twenty two they kind of lose focus on that bad thing they were doing and I know it sounds weird but I think a twenty two magnum or even a twenty two long rifle it's not a bad option for a lot of folks all right I don't disagree with that I just kind of doing the what if scenario and seven I'm I'm already thinking about getting a hacksaw and and taken to we have that new Ruger five seven I mean you think river would mind if we returned it to a move to the bike that should be summarily cut off of its or we were just messing around what she wanted to do when we get together to to send a three inch LPR that's going to make sure that yeah I will be the first one the fire that thing how many fingers around windows it's a strong revolver but I would rather them do the pressure testing on the first before I experimental want want to be a test pilot on that deal cool idea though thank you Sir appreciate the call let's I would have to spur work on that idea five seven and what else you're that big pretty cool bands in the read point Montana on two heyday and what's been shooting well our high rate report Tom I've been carrying concealed for years and my very first concealed gun was a Walther PPK in a three eighty simply because it was small there were the pocket hang on craze that started and I know you didn't have gone several iterations since then and so it's been sitting in my gun safe while the other day I was gonna go out the range you one of my other guns and I thought a little water sitting there and I thought well I'll just shoot it I had a ball with that little guy just shot really nice and it's been so long since I shot it and then my suggestion as all your listeners look in your gun safe look at that all gun the M. shocker while we take it out we just have a problem with it one of two things will happen you'll have a ball it are you gonna say wow I know I put in a gun safe non celibate real got I will tell you I have a close friend who is a extremely knowledgeable gun guy he has everything and can afford everything he carries a Walther PPK three it's a good little garden it's it's not quite as powerful as some people go for a power you were just talking about that with the twenty two long rifle but right it's a good little garnet shoot well and once you learn how to shoot it it's got a long draw on that day you know it's a double single so that runs pulling along but after that the reset is very short and it shoots really nice we know the other thing that's happened in the period of time since you put that away and then you picked it up again three eighty ML has gotten a lot better yes it has yes it has a one nine millimeter nine I Kerrey and H. U. K. forty and the nine millimeters approaching the the forty caliber and the quality of ammunition the ballistics it was not even master now yep a great range of port thank you Sir I love that idea find that old gun is stuck in the back of the safe in the Hague when we go to the range but it's like taking a puppy out they had been out for a while let's talk to Frank in Reno on for Hey Frank forty four special dear to my heart what we talk about here you're sure going to be on the radio with you share one thing I noticed in your comments of the three inch beryl missing western style forty four special right is a couple of people don't realize that in order to get the real fun factor out of the forty four special you need to be shooting Elmer Keith's favorite loads his recipe was about thousand feet maybe eleven hundred feet per second without a two hundred fifty grand bought semi Walker no ash yeah and in order to get the accuracy that's where you want to forty four special specific revolver and not a magnum because if you shoot guns designed for like a three to seven magnum or forty four magnum ensure shorter cartridge you have to jump that gap ever so further still under the barrel and that can affect your accuracy but the elder Keetch loads come companies like buffalo born others will make a heavy caseload with little warning in a semi white color and it is just a blast now granted it's not offensive load it's for breaking bones and bears and so forth but were blocked several calls trying to get this sweet spot yeah L. and in his law over other L. B. T. offers those cast votes if you wanna reload yourself you know just a couple more handsome they also have now in the last three years to come up with actually a little bit different bullet that maybe actually even be better it has a wider a fatter me Platt the big in front and they are cast bullets again but they are amazingly effective endurance that whole pie R. squared deal we agree so that you really grease the area from the area it does more damage just a significantly more damage but you're right that's that's a bigger load they were unclear about doing a load one or two chambers with snapshot and then have Berlage behind it not because unless you to bear with snapshot but because frankly we're a walk around I'm more likely to run into rather than I am a bear and so they got some really good see see I have good really good snake loads for that by the way I I managed to get a hold of the nineteen eighty five series lukewarm combat grip to rific it it's nice it's just sweet shoot yes it is that's but I I got the Lou Horton a three inch with the boot grip and it is just terrific yes I've managed to come across triple lock from around nineteen twenty H. and noticed that the timing wasn't right and you know it was a great museum piece and I said I can't afford to fix this because they have to hand make all the cards so I traded it for a collector who happen to have a little warning that he would have to trade in a line okay when I when men are like that yeah that that for those who don't know much about the Newport made I think it was five thousand album now is yours a tort mom twenty four or is it a six twenty four St Louis blues on the twenty four I have seen a stainless at a gun show here in Reno and the guy was asking an absorbent price for like twenty four hundred dollars well good news baby mines for something well or maybe he didn't sell it which is more likely I got to tell you Johnny jury recently had two six three fours on his website and the one that was more of a beater I think it was listed at nine ninety five and the one was in nice shape was listed at twelve ninety five so just kind of give you an idea of where those prices those are real world prices that's basically what they're selling for so but essentially my body has a a blued six ball twenty four rather and I got the six twenty four lower Kerry it is world quarter this durable but that's three H. beryl forty four special is it's it's hard to describe how nice it is to you goes to the neo that's released I'm so stupid there is something special is it to call Frank and thank you for bringing up those good points cast bullets the keyboards and now the wider army Platt frontal area on these passports are amazing yeah buffalo boards doing some really cool stuff Tim is loading some great books out there I think when I make my way when I get to cascade I'm going to have some of his forty four special.
