"But if that's the case going into Sunday, you know, I would worry a little bit more about Nick Bosa, who's just going to, I mean, you can just demolish the pocket in half the time with half the efficiency. Or half the effort that it would take someone like Dexter Lawrence to do. So I don't know. And yes, Jalen hurts. It was a good stat by ESPN stats and info did 6 design runs in the first half of that of the Giants game, which was the most second most. I think he's ever done in a game, but if you look at those runs, they were all like these trap runs where what they were doing was they were kind of like inviting Dexter and kind of a bunch of the Giants best offensive lineman in one direction and then down blocking them. So there wasn't a lot of guys. I mean, they were basically like, okay, we'll take Jalen hurts chances with Jalen Smith, like a veteran Jalen Smith, we're not really that worried about that. So they kept him away from, I think, some of the guys who could cause a genuine issue, you know? Yeah. Yeah, and look, the forty-niners are, again, just uniquely good at the second level. Specifically Fred Warner, yeah, I don't really know who you necessarily isolate and attack in that defense because they're all really good. The secondaries, maybe not great, but you know, he also have to deal with Nick Bosa. Yeah, let's go to the AFC here. We talked a little bit about Patrick Mahomes and the ankle issue on the Monday morning show. It's gonna be a thing. And I wonder, I wonder how much easier is the word I'll throw out, though that's not exactly the best word in the world here. But how much easier it's going to be for the Bengals to prepare for this when you're not like the Jaguars were kind of adjusting on the fly and doing it with the young defense at that point. The Bengals know that Patrick Rome is going to have limited mobility and certainly they're a team that it's a veteran defense. They have basically been able to take drastically different approaches in different times of within a game and it just seems like this is a really good match up here for Bengals defense versus cheese offense. It's a really good matchup. I mean, you're just not going to be able to and I mean the one good thing about having Andy Reid is a head coach to see successfully in the past run a very quick strike West Coast the offense. He has the receivers to do it. He has the quarterback to do it, but it's just not what the chiefs have done in the past. Historically. And so because you can't can not put Patrick Mahomes in a situation where you put them in last year where he's going to try to freelance enough to get guys open and then by then you have Sam Hubbard and Trey hendrickson just sitting on him. And so that's not a possibility. This is going to be a three and out, three and out, three and out, three steps. And out. And I don't know how good they are at doing that. Because I think the Bengals are really good. I mean, they're going to cover people. They're really fast. And they have cornerbacks who get after the ball and who can jump those short passes. Yeah, I mean, we've seen, for the most part, these teams have played high score games, except for really that AFC title game last year when, again, Lou Anna rumo went just super coverage heavy in the second half. Dropping 7 dropping 8 in a lot of cases. And Patrick Mahomes just did not react to it well. Man, I don't know, it's just whatever Andy Reid gets paid a lot of money to figure these things out. And they're going to have to figure something out here. Against the Bengals with a very limited guy under center who is usually literally capable of doing anything you could imagine him doing. And yeah, we've certainly talked quite a bit about Joe burrow on the show over the last two years. The chiefs defense and this has been the case seemingly each of the last like four or 5 years. They've gotten better as the year has gone on. They don't match up particularly well though with and no one matched up that well with the Bengals weapons here. And again, this is a Bengals offense that just, it's an old school Tom Brady type off. Read the mail before the snap, let's get out in our spread look and Joe burrow will figure out pre snap and if he's wrong, he'll extend the play and get it done post snap. Yeah. And the best vintage patriots offense is right. It's just so it can be so brutal. It can be so punishing and Chris Jones is going to help. I mean, he's going to be The X Factor in this game. Maybe a little George Carla. Gary. I mean, it's up to them, right? They're going to have to stop the run. They're going to have to beat up on Jamar chase and T Higgins and but it's just there's just too much, there's too much offense and there's too much defense. And Cincinnati for me. Like, I just think, sure, is there 5 out of ten chances that the chiefs, I don't know, I would say three and every ten times they would play in these particular circumstances. I would pick the chiefs. Do you think that's fair? Yes. I think that's fair. Three out of every ten. So sure. Because we're Nate silver hedging right now, right? I love that. It was before, I think it was before the 2016 election when, I mean, this is not a political statement, but I think that there was a large portion of America that was somewhat terrified of everything that was going on. And I just loved if you went to his website, he's like the editor, the chief political predictor guy for 5 38 and ABC and there was like a graphic that was just like, Trump has about a field goal kick percent chance of winning. What was it? The chances of Trump winning are about the chances of like whatever. Give me a good like Robbie Gould missing missing a 45 yard field goal. And I was like, oh God, like that's. That's, you know, that could happen. And again, that's in a political statement. I'm just saying it was funny that that election seemed to be of such consequence. And then they compared it to the chances of an NFL kicker missing a field goal. It's like, it's sort of like the doomsday clock, right? It's like, okay, yes. We're all going to die and burn up if this little hand ticks closer to midnight. It's that kind of thing. But in this sense, it's the sports. It's just sports. We're doing a coin flip, but just for sports. It is but imagine Robbie gold was on your fantasy team. Then it has. Then it has that gravity to it. That's true. Now we're talking. That affects me. So I have to ask you, Connor. What's the one game you were wrong in your playoff predictions this year? Because our friend and colleague, Mitch goldich, informed us on the group text that you have only gotten one wrong here, this postseason. I have only gotten one wrong. And you know what it was? I would, and I haven't looked at your picks 'cause I barely even look at my picks, but I would say you had charges of Jaguars. Nope. I had Jax. You had, I don't think you,

"Much better running game this year, there's been a resilience to them all year in these close games where either they've blown leads or whatever, but there's some sort of infrastructure in place where it's like, all right, we need a couple first downs. All right, somehow Kelsey's going to get open. Pacheco has turned into a really good, I think, playoff running back. And then defensively, they have two guys that are going to be able to at least test this since he line. Now, there's a chance and we talked about this last week that they lose the left tackle Jonah Williams. Like, oh my God, they lost their starting left tackle. And it's like, well, what's that? Carmen was better. Yeah, maybe they're fine. But I do think that if the Bengals can protect burrow, I just think they're going to win. I think they have an edge to them. That started really with the way that the post Hamlin stuff was handled with the scheduling, where they got hosed. And then they started selling tickets for the Atlanta game. It was so interesting to read all the quotes. What do you have on Intel from after that with, I mean, basically borough called it the sorry, that's a refund. Refunds. And he said it to Tracy wolfson on CBS, which is like the league broadcast partner. That wasn't to some blog. It was like, here, everybody's sorry. So Zach Taylor has been on one since the Hamlin thing. And I think people called him being insensitive or salty, but he was pissed about the coin toss with the Baltimore Ravens and was very vocal about it. What the hell is that? Does it make sense? It's not equitable that, hey, that that game would be a neutral game in ours would be a coin toss. So they go out there and they beat the ravens in the final week of the season to the coin toss is null and void. Then they go beat them in the wild card round. They go to the AFC divisional round. And I think they leaned into it. And I thought Taylor, who comes across as howdy duty and looks like, you know, he's just, he's just this happy go lucky, a nice guy that gets pushed around. After the game, Taylor gets on the podium and is like, you know, I really want to apologize for all the folks who work so hard at the NFL league office to do all the logistics for that Atlanta AFC championship game. I know. It's really tough. And for all those people at the league office who really put all their heart and soul into figuring out the logistics behind a coin toss, like, sorry guys, sorry we ruined your plans. And you know that once a coach is pithy and sarcastic like that, especially a guy who isn't usually like that, the players are reacting. I mean, Mike Hilton is miked up for that game. They're just beating the snot out of the bills. And he's like, all right, we'll see you all in borough head. Calling arrowhead burrow head. Like, that's how they talk. That's how they talk. They don't respect the chiefs as like this heavy. They look at the chiefs as a team that they have owned and Zach Taylor has them truly thinking, not us against the world, but that the league office doesn't want us to be the team. They would rather have mahomes and Allen in a neutral field and sell those things. They don't want that Bengals logo. You know, we're not that team. And it spread on to the coaching staff. I could tell you from sources around the league that like, there's some people, how do you not interview Lou Anna rumo for a head coaching job? Defensive coordinator. The players love him. He's one of the best offensive minds the last two years. 27 different coaches, I believe, including David Shaw and Jim Harbaugh were interviewed for head coaching jobs. Luanna remote didn't get one. 5 coaching and agencies. Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator. They light up everybody. Despite when Jamar chase goes down, how many interviews did he get one? Almost as a courtesy, it felt like from the colts. I haven't heard him as a likely guy to get that gig. So you're talking about a coaching staff that's been disrespected, a bunch of players that feel disrespected. Never mentioned as the best receiver in the league. There's a lot of fuck you to this team. You know, I want to stay on the since EKC game, but Syrian seems like he has it too. Oh yeah. And I don't know where it came from. It certainly was the case that first season, but it seems like this last season. You watch them on the sideline. I don't remember other than Mike Tomlin. I don't remember a coach like being that animated and that kind of aggro with his like almost like he's part of the team. I really enjoy it. I'm in a syriani. Yeah, so he had a beat Dallas shirt last year that he gave out to the whole team before the eagles played the cowboys and the cowboys beat them handedly on a Monday night and I got like a lot of negative pushback and he's had a lot of different stuff where he shows a lot of the box. He's one of these guys shows the sweet science. We'll show a big boxing match before a game and be like, here's how it works. I believe I read it. I might have been from Jeff mcclain from the Philly inquirer that he read them a dramatic reading of like an M and M rack lyric. I saw that, yeah. And it's like, he's one of those guys. He's gonna go to every last piece, but it's an attitude there, and it starts with Siri and I think the way those cameras are now, those 4D cameras, like you get like that really close up look. So when he's mean mugging, it's like right in your face. But if you see right next to him, there's a guy Ted wrath, who's the vice president of player performance. He's the one wearing the sleeveless sweatshirt with tattoos, and he's doing it also. And he's going after the players and he used to be with McVeigh in Los Angeles. There's a lot of that stuff where it's like, we're gonna set the tone and the coaches are like the players and we live and die with this stuff, but you know, that offensive line, Brandon Graham, all those guys. They have this feeling of like, we're gonna be the bullies. You might beat us, whatever, but we are going to be the bullies, and we are stronger, tougher. And you said the word aggro, it does feel like that when you watch this Philly team that they come out there and they want to pummel you. I think since he's like that too. And you know, one of the things that really helped them was when P Ryan was able to get a lot of carries and he had a lot of carriers in the chiefs game this year, actually. I think he was 26 for one O four stuff like that. But now they have this double barreled action.

"You know, the nice part about all of this is well with all of the information that you provide all of our listeners week in week out. They don't have to go into the game with a pre game position. If they watch a couple series and go, you know what? This is exactly what the boys have bet the board told us was going to happen. Here's how it's going to unfold. We can get a better number at some point if mahomes mobility is a real concern. It's a nice part about having dynamic pricing and being able to find different entry points throughout the course of a game, especially in a stand-alone spot, where everyone will be watching. You can follow. I think that's what I want to cut you off, but I thought that was a really good point that you made there because listen, it's not widely available. There are some sharp guys on it obviously. If you're dying for action and you're fiending for action, right? I understand the philosophy of the Bengals plus a half first half because the idea there is Andy Reid may have something concocted here that you mean the chief chief plus a half percent, not the bangles. Yeah, what'd I say? Yes, I'm sorry. Yeah, you said Bengals plus that first time. Okay, I'm sorry. Yeah, and that's a big confusion point, because that's how we're trending now. If you're looking at the chiefs, the first half angle there plus a half was probably an interesting way to attack that based upon what you're saying there is. Andy Reid is going to come up with a game plan that he has an employed the last three times they've gone against each other because we now know mahomes limitations a little bit. We know Lou Anna rumo is much better in the second half, but to Deepak's point, the re injury rate. Let's just have an honest conversation. You're like, mom, I'm just going to get shot up for this. He's probably. How dare you make that kind of insinuation? That kind of stuff goes on in the NFL? He's probably going to be a little bit better off early on in this game. The re injury risk, right? You have the longer the game goes on, the re injury risk heightens, and so I think that was necessarily the thought process there with the chief's first half plus right luana rumo adjustments. We've talked about that substantially better defensively in the second half than in the first half. So I thought that was an interesting way to attack it. And by no means was it a large bet, but there were some guys value betting the chiefs their first half yesterday plus plus that half. No, it makes a ton of sense. This is the time of year where the markets are ultimately efficient. You try and figure out any little edge you can to try and maximize earning potential on games of this magnitude. I did a piss poor job earlier in the show as a host, but if you don't already know who we are, you could follow pain on Twitter at pain insider. I'm Todd Furman, you can follow me there. Most importantly, follow the podcast at bet the board pod. And again, we encourage you every single week. If you haven't already done so, check out the sports card podcast that pain doesn't outstanding job on. He gets to play host there and ask all those hard hitting questions called cardboard chat. It's him and Jesse Craig and minority owner, PWC marketplace. These guys will talk about anything in everything related to the sports card industry entry points and outstanding job that you guys did this week talking about folks that may want to take things on the road and get to some of the card shows that are out there this summer, especially as football winds down. So even if you're not into sports trading cards, these guys will open your eyes to a variety of possibilities, encourage you guys to check that out. And also assuming schedules hold next week, we'll have the first episode of the stay green podcast for 2023, a little NASCAR preview and hopefully a nice long shot ticket that you can put in your pocket for the entire season to driver that we feel could be undervalued in the market when it comes to winning a championship. But before we get to all that stuff pain, last week I know a lot of our loyal listeners were disappointed. We didn't have a best bet on the show. Never had one on the site in full disclosure given the way my betting weekend went. We probably did them a favor by not eroding some of their bankroll. Have you seen anything actionable early on in the week, whether it's side total or maybe delving a little bit further into these markets? Yeah. As the week kind of unfolded and I'll be honest, I think if our listeners were smarter than us and they certainly were last week as we were, I don't know what the hell happened. It was just, you know, we talked about thinking 53 was too high of a number and Jacksonville Kansas City, hopefully someone smartly about that. We didn't. And the second game there, I believe it was eagles giants in that second game time slot was once we got to 48 and a half, my insinuation was we'd see under money there come in. We did, it went to 47 and a half that ended up winning as well, at least I'm smart enough about that. I think we thought the bangles at 6 was a little ridiculous based upon how borough could navigate some of those offensive line injuries that were being overpriced in the market, didn't bet that. So we left a lot of meat out there. And then finally we came down to

"It's always so interesting because obviously it's just about getting numbers and for those folks that were able to grab three, even if it was for smaller limits with the bangles on the open and they were able to come back over the top, whether it was on a buyer grabbing two and a half, putting themselves in a very good position to try and earn off of those particular tickets. But when we look at the market where it settled, obviously there's some X's and O's to be dissected here. When you go through some of the history between these teams, people talk about the Cincinnati Bengals mastery of the Kansas City Chiefs. We know they beat them three times. Calendar year 2022, but what I think a lot of people fail to incorporate into their handicap pain is all three of those games were decided by a grand total of three points of contest. The chiefs had leads in all of those games going into the fourth quarter, and it was the Bengals making some adjustments, finding a few wrinkles that were able to get them to the finish line. So it's not as though the Bengals have beaten them by 14 plus points in each of those contests. Joe burrow throwing for 700 yards and Patrick Mahomes and company walking back to the locker room after 60 minutes with their tail between their legs. But don't tell that to the Cincinnati Bengals, who have said some things that have caught the ire and the attention of the Kelsey brothers specifically when they referred to arrowhead as burrow head, just what you want to do, give Patrick Mahomes playing host to another AFC championship for the 5th straight year, a little bit more motivation. If the chiefs are going to be successful, knowing some of Patrick Mahomes limitations. What do you envision their best path should be offensively trying to attack a Bengals defense that may not have a lot of household names or a lot of superstars, but they definitely get the most out of the sum of the parts. Well, I think to your point here, the chiefs probably aren't going to change a ton. And you start to look after the injury. Again, partly why we've gotten back to a semi normal number, is mahomes was decent throwing the ball. And I understand it was the Jacksonville Jaguars defense and they are not very good against the past. But even if you extrapolated mahomes EPA out after the injury, it would have been the second best mark in the NFL full season. Only behind Patrick Mahomes actual full season metric. So I think we're not getting a complete shell here of Patrick Mahomes. Now, Andy Reid claims that this injury isn't as bad as the 2019 high ankle sprain. The difference is this is his right ankle. And it was his left in 2019. And I honestly didn't feel the same way, seeing how mahomes played last week after the injury compared to how he played after the injury in week one and week 5 with that similar ankle injury that Reed is calling it. I did feel very optimistic based upon how he looked on a Wednesday though. I will say that. It feels like he's improved dramatically. Now it's probably going to be a quarterback that's just sliding and moving around in the pocket and not actually taking off and running, maybe that's minimal at best. Maybe there's a leak on the interior of the line and he just takes off in a straightforward manner, but I don't think he's rolling out and doing all those things and I don't know. He's probably not going to be as accurate. Throwing down the field. That was the one area where post injury, mahomes was two for 5 on throws 15 plus yards downfield. So this feels like it could very much be a game played within a cocoon here. I know structurally juju was running his mouth a little bit too about how fire the game plan was this week. We'll see what that actually looks like. I just, to your point, I don't think we're going to see a ton of changes for the chief's offense. They've built leads against the bangles. They might be zero and three, but they've led by 1814 and 7. They've taken a lead into every fourth quarter. They're averaging more than 2.8 points per drive against the Bengals. That's more than any offense has against that defense the last two seasons. They just have to get away from some of the mistakes, the defense has to get a timely stop or two. Now, I'm not sure what Lou Anna rumo has up his sleeve. I think that's really what's going to dictate what the chiefs are going to do offensively. No one really knows what Lou's going to do because every game he's decided to throw the kitchen sink at mahomes. If you look at coverage rates, they're constantly changing. He's making mahomes think differently, snap to snap. He's making him think differently, post snap pre snap, he's just constantly changing the picture that mahomes has and it seems to have worked relatively well. Now we know the chiefs aren't as explosive as they were last year. And if mahomes isn't a threat running the ball, you don't necessarily have to spy him so that gives an advantage to Lou where he has that extra body now in the middle of the field where you can either double Kelsey or throw an extra defender into some coverage windows. You look last week, the Jags splits mahomes on 44% of drop backs. It looks like that's a big number and I think it is full game full season wise. But it's really a ton in the first half and very little in the second half. Jacksonville chose to play coverage in the second half and mahomes just wasn't touched. That's now on film. So the Bengals don't blitz a ton when they do, it's pretty exotic. You'll see Mike Hilton coming off the slot. But I do wonder if Lou kind of chooses to blitz more knowing there's not a ton of vertical shots that the chiefs can employ to kind of beat you. And you kind of want to make mahomes slide right or slide left or throw off one foot with this injury. I think what we did see was because the O line knew where mahomes was going to be last week after the injury. They had an easier time pass protecting. He was virtually in this little box between the hashes, one to 6 yards away from the line of scrimmage, and it really forced the Jaguars at that point. If they wanted to get pressure, they would have to go all around the edge and then back inwards. And it just didn't allow mahomes to be pressured all that much. And so I think that's interesting here. We saw McKinnon snap share just sore because he was helping in protection. So does Lou maybe blitz and force McKinnon to be a blocker rather than a force in the pass game where we know he's been extremely efficient. We know the Bengals are certainly susceptible to running back passes. So maybe that's the way you combat McKinnon in the past game is blitz a little bit more forcing him to stay in protection. That'll be interesting to see how that unfolds. We've seen the prop market, right? McKinnon opened 25 and a half with his rush yards, a trickle to 26 and a half, and then all of a sudden, a service gave out over 27 and a half, and now we're as high as 33 and a half Thursday morning. The expectation is just more McKinnon, I think, due to his ability to pass protect and catch the ball. This feels very much like a controlled offensive effort. If mahomes isn't hitting explosives, if he's not as mobile. It's the short pass game. It's all hands on deck. There hasn't been a chief receiver to exceed a hundred yards in the last 11 games. And the Bengals do a really good job on tight ends. Make no bones about that. Lou does a very good job going out of his way to defend Kelsey. Whether it's air yards, depth of target, they've done a really good job relative to Kelsey's baseline performance. And I think in general he's done a good job defending tight ends as well this season.

"Have it. Sharpie. Yeah, it's it. And it's out of the playbook for the week. And we'll see if we advance the Super Bowl. Let's see if I could just hopefully it's a dry erase. And you can just put those playback plays back into the active bin. And I found that interesting. He says, if it's a wide receiver, then you just switch the guide from one side to the left. And again, Lou Anna rumo is a defensive coordinator. He'll pick up on it. They'll pick up on it if he has trouble going this way or that way or these plays that they saw earlier in the season. They're going to do something else. He knows that this is their tendency. They'll break it. Man, I can't wait. But that's what I learned today. What did you learn, rich? I learned mahomes is going to play. And also that the exit to the room where they conducted these interviews was to the left. Unless there's a right door and he chose the left because he has trouble going to his right because of his right ankle. Okie doke. Can you look into that for me, please? Thanks. Sure. What's the name of the chief's PR guy? Ted Cruz, my buddy Ted Cruz. Not that Ted Cruz. That Ted Cruz? No. Oh, like Terry crews. That's it. Gotta change your name, right? Nope. It's different spelling. Ted is a delightful human. Which one? CREW. I have not met the other. Got it. And that sweet wants you to know your numbers. If you are running your business without knowing your numbers, then you are not up to speed like 33,000 businesses are, because what are you doing? The exactly. "Right here on the rich eisen show. Doesn't want to disappoint Andy Reid. I get that. I know. I'm mahomes is going, guys. I mean, I don't care what your line says in Vegas. He's going. He's going to play this game. I mean, we're almost like he's going to be on crutches on Wednesday, and you never know. Is he going to be Matt Ryan back there? I don't think so. I don't think so. I mean, he struggled to just get the hand off. I don't think so. I already have, I already have a note in my book here. That over the next two, three days as we get ready for this game. It's a shadow of mahomes better than most other quarterbacks in the NFL. Yes. Yes. Right down front load TJ's response. 70 5% of Patrick Mahomes is better than a lot of these quarterbacks. Well, we're going to have a conversation about it as opposed to with just 20 seconds to go, but I have front loaded your response in advancer. He's just good. When we come back top 5 storylines to come out of the divisional playoff weekend, 49er fan, Dave Franco, the writer and director of somebody I used to know coming up on Prime Video and this show. Still here on the Roku channel. Snow globe in the back pocket for four weeks. You know what? Let's just save it for the Raiders. Not odd. It's just popped that out against the Raiders in a game that's kicking off week 18 that really doesn't matter. I know they needed to win it in order to clinch home field advantage. They did. But by the time they popped that snow globe out, I don't think they needed the snow globe. It wasn't one of those, okay, let's pull this out of our bag of tricks because the Raiders are all over everything else that we do conventionally. I think they save that for the Raiders just for fun. Probably. JFF coach want to run a snow globe. Now let's save it. Yeah, let's save it. Now it's not the time, come on coach. The Denver Broncos. Now it's not the time. Let's hold on. Let's hold on. Oh, yeah. That was just for the Raiders. Stick it right to you. How many of those places have that's a good question too? I mean, he won't answer that question. I mean, clearly, but I'm just saying. They were going to play from the 19 30s rose bowl in the Super Bowl. So they've got them. Amazing. And I would suggest they pull one on Lou Anna rumo this weekend. I would suggest popping one of them out of the box this weekend. Hey, there is no tomorrow. There is no tomorrow. Except if you make it to the Sunday after this. No, understood that. Yes, but I think that's still applies. Must

"Him down in the open field. This defensive line was consistently handling Daniel Jones as a runner and I thought it was really impressive because that was, like I said, the big question Mark I had. RC so you can talk about the second half now if you want to. It's been a while since we've seen this kind of dominance from Philly. How do they flip the switch the way they do? I think one thing they got healthy and let's think about the type of runs you're normally going to get from a quarterback like Daniel Jones, those runs are going to be more outside and along the tackles. And that's where this defense is strong. You know, we've seen them get gutted throughout the season, but they are run and hit type players. They inverted the line of scrimmage, and then we watched them chase the football and it was great pursuit the entire day. We also saw a team that was just absolutely more physical than the New York giant tour, which we didn't see against the Minnesota Vikings. I said, coming into this week, it was going to be a different battle against this eagles team and they turned it up a notch and they showed you what playoff defense and football is truly like. Quick moment of love for Jalen hurts, who continues to prove everybody wrong. He became the second player in eagles history with a rushing touchdown and multiple passing touchdowns in a playoff game, joining Donovan McNabb. Let's bring Adam Schefter back in here. And Adam, now that the Giants are eliminated, we turn our attention to some decisions that need to be made around their future. What does that look like starting with saquon Barkley? There are two looming decisions for this franchise that will shape it for years to come, Laura, the first and does involve saquon Barkley, whose contract is up this off season. The Giants in saquon talked during the season, both sides table the talks in the middle of the year, the Giants would like to bring them back, but we have to see what price. Now, today's saquon Barclay said he's not looking to reset the running back market, but no doubt it's not going to be cheap to re sign him either. The giant certainly sounded a little bit more sure that they wanted to bring back Daniel Jones. Can't lose a quarterback too valuable on this league. They'll try to work out a deal or Daniel Jones the franchise tag from would be $33 million if they can't get a long-term deal done, but a long-term deal is there for both teams, both sides to have an essentially it's a situation where I think that they'll figure out a way to get a deal done with Daniel Jones, maybe before he even gets to free agency. Yeah, that's going to be something to really keep an eye on and you know what credit to him and credit to Brian dabel for getting it to that point where that's the conversation around Daniel Jones. Thanks to Adam and let's get a little bit more from the Bengals side of things after a huge win yesterday. I think all of us have professed our love for Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anna rumo at some point on this show. None more than RC, of course. Oh my God. Annie deserved it yesterday. The Bengals defense was on fire in Buffalo and whether they're being motivated by being counted out or maybe it was just the idea of taking down Josh Allen. It worked. The Bengals defense frustrated Allen and the bills all game long, holding buffalo to season lows in points and rushing yards, those struggles extended to the passing game as well. Where Josh Allen completed only four of his 11 pass attempts that were intended for Stefan Diggs, their worst mark in any game since becoming teammates. You heard about some of the frustration there, postgame, it makes sense. A Dan and Marcus, would you like about this Bengals D take it away, boys? Sir. May I be encouraged? You wanna do it? Yes, let me use y'all. Please. All right, let's take this. That's my baby. I know, I know, I know. I'm a handle with care. Okay. Listen, you guys brought up Lou and aroma and we talked so much about RC brought up the exotic blitzes the way he can pressure you. I just want to talk about these players and how they define defense, especially upfront on this defensive line. This was a critical down in this game against Josh Allen. First you gonna see here, all right, I'm gonna stop it right here. This is what you call a TE game between both of these guys right here. That area, they run in a TE game. Why do you call it a TE? Because the tackle is upfield first. And the defensive end comes around underneath. But there's a reason why you do this, Dan, and the reason is, is because I want Josh Allen to go where I want Josh Allen to go. As soon as Josh Allen sees, this incoming defensive lineman right here, his first initial is, I got outside. Yeah. Because to him, this looks like a short corner. When I say a short corner, 92 is covered up by this tackle, it looks like a lot of feel out here, but it's exactly what this defensive line wants you to do. All right, now we get here. I want to highlight this because you know how I always talk about defensive lines, being tired together like basketball teams. 92 here. Now, the nature of a defensive lineman is to say, oh, I got a short edge. Let me dive in here and try to get this sack on Josh Allen. But Louie and aroma is a coach and all of his guys know exactly what they want him to do. So I stop at shuffle my feet. That way I know it. Josh is now turned back into the pocket. Now, you asking me, what am I trying to do as a D line? First of all, I want all the other pay attention to this wall. That's a wall. This is contained quarterback rush. This is not a guy getting selfish and I'm a winner one O one. But go out of bounds. Initially, this guy right here. He's peaking. Josh got his eyes on him. Josh thinks I'm going to escape that way now, but watch this. Watch how the quarterback has the again pay respect to the outside Russia. This is what I call a defensive line in structure, but still creating pressure. This entire time they were searching for one thing. They were searching for a one on one. And DO, guess where they got it. Right here. Is that right there? Yeah. Now, Josh has a decision to make because we know in these situations, he likes to escape, use his legs buy more time to get the football off. Not against Cincinnati's defensive line. And I want you all to pay attention to this. See these guys right here who are lying in this stack. That second guy legitimately becomes a spy. If you get out, I'm going to find you and put you back in the lap of all three of my rushers. There's nowhere to go. You get the one on one, you get the pressure. Josh makes a bad throw because he's forced. But it's not only about exes in those. It's not just about who had a remote doll enough pressures. It's about how smart these guys are and how directly tied they are to play. But you know what? You know what? It was great. A lot of great stuff there. Not one guy went past. That was interesting to me. I got it. Well done. Well done. That's a guy right there. I'm glad you passed that little touchscreen torch bag, but you handled that well. Big red ball is still coming too, y'all. Hey, the Bengals. Let's talk about the chiefs. They're returning their 5th straight AFC championship after Saturday's win over the Jaguars. RC is going to tell you what this defense may have to get creative to shut down Joe burrow in that Bengals. Oh, it's all coming your way next. When NFL live. Work harder. Postseason NFL countdown crew gets you ready for championship Sunday next week, three hour show starts at noon and then after the games at ten eastern, a special NFL prime time with boomer booger and keyshawn, they'll have all the highlights and talk about both of the games. An explosion from this crowd a roar was Patrick Mahomes is back in the game. We'll see if he can finish the game. Andrew is ankle. He can barely put any weight on that foot. He is laboring after that one hit he took on the run. I'm not coming out of the playoff game unless they take me out paying the same and you got to deal with the other way. Mahomes now steps up in the pocket. Throws way more open touchdown. Those are gonna be perfect. He's gonna be a competitor at the end of the day. And a right side throw is gonna be a little something. Jalen Watson is victory for the Kansas City Chiefs. Certainly saw some grit on display there, but after returning from his ankle injury, Patrick Mahomes completed 67% of his pass attempts for a 118 yards in a key touchdown in the fourth quarter that extended the chief's lead to ten points at that point with mahomes clearly not 100%. Kansas City's offensive line stepped up as he was pressured on just 16% of his drop backs after the injury. So mahomes didn't have

"And I think they proved that by going, I mean, that was a physical good game and the cowboys seemed like they were pretty much every bit as good as the niners with the exception of those interceptions. I'll leave you with this. The high ankle spring with Patrick Mahomes, Pauly spoke to a Doctor Who deals with this and said, an hour after you have it, just adrenaline, you could shoot it up, you're okay. It's the coming days that high ankle sprain. And this doesn't just go away. What do you do if you're Patrick Mahomes in a situation like can he just say, I'm just going to be a pocket passer? I mean, that's what he's going to try to do. And I don't know how well that's going to go. I mean, that's not him. You know, I think it's really hard as a player in any sport to go out there and be someone you're really not. That's not what he is. You know, that's not who he is. And I can guarantee you, Dan. I don't know how this guy was talking to him yesterday. I don't know how this guy doesn't have any head coach interviews. I can guarantee you, bangles D coordinator Lou Anna rumo is gonna have an awesome plan that's gonna not allow mahomes to get rid of the ball quickly because the longer mahomes has to hold the ball, the more chance there is, he has to move around or do something, which I don't know that he's gonna be able to do. So the bangles are gonna take away the quick reads, quick throws from mahomes. He's gonna have to try to move. I don't think he's gonna be able to do it. That's a tough injury against a really talented and well coached defense. That's gonna be a tall task for mahomes if you can't move like you normally does. Better food in Philadelphia or Kansas City. Oh, for this upcoming weekend, 'cause yesterday buffalo might have been the best of the year. I mean, they came to play. I don't know what happened on the field, but they came to play in the press box. I mean, it was really impressive. They had beef on weck Mac and cheese. So it's like the beef that they have in the wack in the Mac and cheese. Street corn. They had wings from Lenovo. And I knew I was going to be on the sideline. There's no food if you're a sideline person. So I had to eat enough pregame at 1 o'clock to last me till my drive home at 8 o'clock. So I went all in well done by the bill. They also did the email you, the day before, with what the spread will be, which I appreciate because I like to get my mind like if I'm gonna do a restaurant, I look at the menu before I go to the restaurant, of course. So the bills let me visualize my game plan so I can execute in the pregame. So you had your walk through with the menu. Yes, yes, I already was like, okay, I gotta get some wings. I've never heard of beef whack Mac and cheese, but that sounds amazing. It was, it was delicious. It was awesome. It was very, I wasn't hungry at halftime. Thank you to the Buffalo Bills PR and food staff. That was amazing.

"Russell Westbrook is going to get that shot off. He was going to shoot. And that kept coming to mind for me during the Bill dolphins game because there were so many complaints that the offense wasn't doing much besides asking gallon to hit a long touchdown pass once or twice every single possession. No, you can basically hear people in Buffalo yelling at the TV. Like, are we just like trying to call the touchdown play over and over again here? Like, what is the strategy? This was not the offensive's fault. It was not Ken Dorsey, the offensive coordinator's fault. There were check downs and open receivers and progressions built into the plays that were being called. Alan just wasn't looking at them or attempting them. Allen was literally passing up open receivers to try and hit contest to receivers downfield. He was trying to hit bomb after bomb, or throws into impossible windows. And yes, of course, because he's Josh Allen that led to some incredible plays and ridiculous passes. I did. It also led to interceptions. And on top of that Pablo, I would argue the Miami game plan on defense was designed specifically to encourage Allen to play hero ball. The dolphin splits on nearly 42% of their dropbacks. The second highest rate of any team during the wild card round, they sold out the try and generate pressure, keep Allen from scrambling, and create big plays for the defense, like sacks and turnovers. It nearly won them the game with a third string quarterback. I love the idea that the dolphins almost rope a dope Josh Allen into being knocked out of the playoffs. Does that feel though like a blueprint for the Bengals defense then? On Sunday because these are not the same defense. I'm open to that possibility because Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anna rumo is very creative and his defense can be very flexible. Go back to the AFC championship game last year. The Bengals were down 11 points at halftime, came within a yard of being down 18 points at halftime. They were struggling to stop the chase. And I had a solution. They morphed into a defense that dropped 8 men into coverage regularly against the chiefs, which teams almost never do. And Andy Reid is spartacus Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are. They didn't have an answer. They helped the Bengals come back and win that game. The Bengals are not typically a blitz heavy team, but remember earlier when I said the dolphin splits at the second highest rate in football during the wild card round, the team that blitzed more often. Do you think that butts at the highest rate in football were the Bengals who blitzed Tyler Huntley more than 51% of the time in

"What the bangles are defensively. They've been very susceptible to boundary receivers. In games where should obey has started and finished the Bengals are 9th in schedule adjusted past defense. 25th in games without chidobe woozy. So this really has to be a Josh Allen Diggs Davis type game. Ken Dorsey also has to get Josh Allen thrown with play action. That was one of the things that I uncovered in this game where there's just a large advantage. Bills use play action about 26% of the time need it more tonight. You can really hunt some gashes if you use play action, especially on first downs against this Bengals defense, Cincinnati. 31st in yards per pass attempt allowed to play action passes on first down third in EPA per pass allowed in first down play action passes when quarterbacks are using play action on first down from under center even worse. 15 yards a pass attempt they're allowed. In that situation. So you've got to throw with play action on first down a little bit more fine digs on some intermediate routes, some in cuts, some slants to the middle of the field. And buffalo should have success Cincinnati also hasn't been the most efficient defending tight ends either bottom ten and reception rate allowed, so maybe Dawson Knox is that guy used over the middle of the field with play action. A little bit on some early downs. So this to me is very much about Josh Allen in the past game. Against Lou Anna rumo's scheme. If Sam Hubbard's down and you're down, should I be obviously? This is very much about the scheme and the X's and O's. There's not a ton of great jimmies and Joe's out there for the bank. And you mentioned Stefan Diggs productivity or lack thereof over the last couple of weeks. You dig into the numbers, you look at ten catches. It hasn't had a receiving game over 60 yards over his last three, but obviously that comes with a huge caveat. You look at the weather against the jets. Home against the dolphins and what they dealt with on the road at Chicago. But Josh Allen to your point said that's not an excuse for me not to get my number one receiver involved. So if you're this Cincinnati Bengals, I'm very curious to see how they decide to try and defend what Josh Allen and Stefan Diggs are going to attempt to do to pick up chunky yardage when it avails itself. Great point talking about the running game and buffaloes potential inability to be able to do so. We've seen them adjust their game plan quite often and try and work to that benefit. Now, when you look, there's just one thing because you said this perfectly and that they've been playing in some weather games the last three weeks. So you do have to kind of make that manual adjustment. So if you're not making that manual adjustment, bills minus one, one and a half probably isn't your number, but you have to do that. The one thing though tonight as we're starting to kind of record potential rain in the mix now all of a sudden, which would suck for a game like this. You're hoping it plays true. You're hoping that the weather holds out and there isn't a downpour here. Kick-off is at 8 30. Around 8 o'clock, there's about a 36% chance once you get to the 10 o'clock hour, it transitions to about a 60% chance of rain. So hopefully that holds up, but your point was very astute there and that the bills have been playing in shit weather here for about a month. Yeah, speaking of which, but the late kick-off time here to try and accommodate the rose bowl. You're going to be able to make it through all four quarters. Are you going to have to DVR the fourth? I'm not quite sure. I was up early this morning. I woke the chicken, so I may need I'm not a big nap guy, but I may need that 20 minute firm and nap to kind of re energize me. The 20 minute nap is vastly underrated. I know a lot of people try and mock it, but it's what I live by. It's what got me through college back in the day and it's what I ascribe to now, waking up at the crack of dawn out here in the West Coast, working in the business we do. On the Penn State now minus one, by the way, a little four point move there for a listener. Yeah, well, I mean, closing line value. That becomes the easy part of what we do for our listeners. Let's get this thing across the finish line the way we're going and you mentioned some of the other college games obviously Mississippi stayed out to four as we record this morning and starting to see a little bit of money on the green wave will be interesting to monitor that up to kick-off. Knowing Caleb Williams status, we'll see how that plays out there. On the other side of the ball between the bills and bangles, Jordan poyer is the player that I reference to the top. His health limited participation all this week. We saw the bills take to cautious approach to tridev white. Obviously, it's a team that wants to have their full complement of defenders. When the games mean even more than tonight's contest, well, there are 11 O this season with poyer playing. They've won 15 straight regular season games with him in the lineup. It's the longest active winning streak by any NFL player right now, but the key for the bills in this spot is going to be about generating pressure, whether it's at Oliver up the middle, whether it's Gregory or so coming off of the edge, there should be opportunities against the Bengals offensive line that had dealt with a ton of continuity had it been extremely fortunate for the majority of the season, but things are going to be reshuffled here with obviously no layout Collins who's lost for the season. The speculation that it was going to be a DNA filling that spot, but through practice this week, it was more Isaiah prince, buffalo's defense against the Bengals offense. I say a prince, Ohio State's finest.

"As always, follow the podcast at bet the board pod for all sorts of updates analysis and everything else that you've come to expect from us. And if you haven't already done so encourage you guys, even this late in the season, sign up for the bet the board podcast newsletter, some great information there, things you may have missed during the week. Of course, a prophet every week and this week was an absolute rocking chair for those folks that just went there, signed up, you get that right in your inbox well in advance of game day to be able to get down at some of the good numbers that are out there. All right, pain, tonight, in the jungle, the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals and this number on a Monday morning starting to leak out a little bit. The bill is now out to a one and a half point favorite in some shops. There's a two out there. There's a one total pretty consistent in that 49 and a half to 50 range and it'll become the first ever meeting between Josh Allen and Joe burrow. The bills with 12 wins and the bangles with 11 have a combined 23 wins this season. Why is that relevant? Well, it's tied for the most ever entering a Monday Night Football matchup. You have to go back to 1997 when Denver played San Francisco. John Elway against Steve Young, so rarefied air in that regard. When you look at Josh Allen and Joe burrow, most combined passing touchdowns by any opposing quarterbacks entering a Monday Night Football game ever, playoff scenarios, the bills with a win would be guaranteed no worse than the two seed can clinch a one seed by winning out or by going one and one in the chiefs losing in week 18. Meanwhile, for the bangles, they can clinch the AFC north and week 17 with this win knowing that the ravens have already lost, they can clinch a one seat in the AFC with two wins and a Kansas City Chiefs loss on week 18. I provide all of that to ask you the overarching question as the football guru that you are. Are you more interested to watch the Buffalo Bills offense go up against Lou Anna rumo's Cincinnati Bengals defense or are you more interested to watch Joe burrow, see what he can do with his talented cast of skill position players against the buffalo defense that may or may not be down one of its key cocks? Well, fortunately, our TV is going to allow us to see both sides of the match. Yeah, that's why I just want to ask where you want to start with. I didn't say we were going to completely ignore the other side of the ball or for you to change the channel. Let's start with the former I think what's really interesting about this game is the price is right. I mean, I've tried making some tweaks and looking at trending metrics to try to get the numbers right. I just feel really good about where this is priced within the market, although to your point, saw a little bit of bill's money comments slightly this morning. It's now opening up the teaser window on Cincinnati. If that's your thing, I know the bill's offense isn't completely humming right now. But this to me is a pretty big step up in class for the Bengals defense. And I understand what some analytics sites say about the competition Cincinnati's face defensively. But I just like what we do in-house better. I'm going to be pretty aggressive with that statement, right? There's multiple games that are slanting since these schedule metrics. If you kind of assess those a little bit better, you start to wonder who the Bengals defense is truly played. There's not a ton of special quarterbacks on the schedule. It's trubisky and game one of a brand new system. It's Cooper Russia instead of dak. It's Flacco. It's Bridgewater for the majority of a short week game instead of Andy Dalton, Mario, to Brissette, Mayfield, Pickett, Tannehill, Mac Jones. The list kind of goes on and on. And even in some of the name brand quarterbacks and offenses, that Cincinnati's play, they weren't technically themselves. Brady and the Buccaneers, we've outlined that in chronicled at all season. They're below average offense prior to this outburst against a Carolina defense beaten and battered in the second theory. Kansas City's elite, but four major contributors were out on offense, and then you had the ravens game back in week 5 where Baltimore's figuring out life without Rashad Bateman for the first time this season. So there's these little quirky things where to me, they haven't been battle tested. So I think my point here is you'll look and see Cincinnati's face to top 8 schedule of offenses. It's just not the case when you look at the timing of those matchups. Now, buffalo offensively is certainly searching for some things that hasn't looked like the bills offense. We've grown accustomed to their outside the top 5 and EPA and schedule just efficiency since week 11. I think we referenced it a little bit earlier in the show that's starting center Mitch Morse returns and that's huge. I think Josh Allen and both Ken Dorsey have called Morse the dad of the offensive line and holds those guys accountable and they're just a different offense with him out there. The bills have been running a touch better of late, but it does feel very much opponent driven. I'm not sure how much success buffalo is going to have running it here. If you look at Cincinnati, they're 9th and schedule adjusted to Russia efficiency when DJ reader is in the lineup. That's their all world run stuff where they went and paid a gazillion bucks too and free agency and took them away from the Texans. They're merely average and run defense without readers readers playing here. We'll have to keep an eye on Sam Hubbard, who is one of the best edge setting run defenders in this league dealing with a little bit of a calf injury was out there as early as Monday giving in some limited reps, but those calf injuries are a little tricky. It was initially a four week injury when that happened. We haven't quite reached that timeline yet, he hasn't gotten in a full practice yet. So we'll see if he's up. That would be a big loss in terms of stopping the run for Cincinnati if Sam Hubbard is an out there. So to me, this is very much a Josh Allen in the receiver's game. And I'm sure Lou Anna rumo has seen the data and what teams have done successfully against buffalo by not blitzing Josh Allen write specifically the jets you have those two data points with Robert sala where he just chose not to blitz Josh Allen and maybe that's the approach here. But if you're Ken Dorsey and the bills, you have to attack Cincinnati through the air. Diggs has to be more involved. He was an afterthought against the bears. I know weather played a little bit of a role there with some wind. But if you listen to Josh Allen this week, he's been talking about finding digs. Implementing him into the game plan really force feeding him.

"Deserves to be second in coach of the year voting behind mcdaniel? Nick sirianni. Brabham's got the lifetime achievement. He should always be top three. He won it last year, and I was like, oh, that's right, he did win it last year, 'cause he feels like he should always, he and Belichick should just get awards for just like, hey, you guys always do a great job. Congratulations moving on. The 7 and four with all the injuries they had, the fact that they almost won that Malik cooker game, like just an incredible year bam. What's your next matchup? Patrick Mahomes versus Lou and aroma. This was the defining matchup of the AFC championship game last year, Lou and aroma for those who don't know big Lou is the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. Love this guy. And he's gotten head coach buzz. I'm very glad he has. I'm not sure he'll take it 'cause he strikes me as the kind of guy who kind of just wants to coach defense and go home and see his kids for the rest of his life, but we'll see. Who knows? The thing about an aroma that's most impressive is that a lot of good defensive coordinators coach their stuff, they coach it well. They do what they do, and then they get the right personnel for it, they get the right body types, they know some of the changeups they need to pitch and then they dictate. They dominate. Ryan's with the dolphins or with the diners, excuse me. We play chorus, we rush with four we dominate. Here we go. And we're almost more in the Belichick vein where he'll run something out in week 7 that he wasn't doing in week one. He'll change a look here in cheadle there. Like against the Titans, they're running bare fronts with Sam Hubbard on the inside, they got two defensive tackles on the other moving guys around. Like, they do a crazy number of things. Most notably against pash mahomes in the chiefs in that AFC championship game. The Bengals, the Bengals dropped 8. They dropped 8 defenders on 35% of their passing play. So 8 in coverage, three guys rushing. Huge number. Astronomical number. The only other guy in the league who was comfortable dropping a at these high rates in a single game was Bill Belichick. He had done it a couple times. And against mahomes in the past couple of years. Mahomes really, really struggled against drop a in that game. He had negative 14.4 pass EPA, 7 for 13. Wait, hold on one second with that. When the drop a is so part of that is you're basically daring the other team to run or you're just trying to you're trying to confuse them with the coverage because you never know which 8, but if it's 8 going back, you know it's 8 anyways. So what do you think the chiefs learned from that? It's a great question. So one, are you challenging the opposing team to run a little bit? Because typically you'll be in like too high shells and light boxes regardless. That extra player you drop is gonna have a run pass key though. So he's gonna be online a scrimmage. And when he gets an office alignment coming right at him, looking like he's run blocking, he'll play run defense. It's not like he's dropping right at the snap, right? Yeah. So he's still going to be involved in the run fit. So it's not like they're playing with three down defensive lineman. That's not the case. So it's a little bit of a run challenge, not so much. Secondly, what are you doing in coverage? That's the really cool thing about Lou Anna rumo, right? A lot of the drop 8 stuff that you might run is like, okay, run, you know, three deep safeties and 5 underneath, right? You see that in college? Well, in Aruba would run like man coverage with three like 5 guys on 5 guys and then three bonus dudes if one deep middle safety, another guy on mahomes and other guy robbing just kind of floating around, he'd run drop one of the ends and have him kind of spy my homes from one side and they'd force mahomes out of the pocket a certain direction. He was really creative with the 8 players he had. We don't see a lot of drop 8 in the NFL. So the rules are very nebulous. He would run Tampa two and he would change the tamper droppers. They just, with that extra body, they're creating like you say a lot of confusion. And so mahomes was challenged in that game, either get rid of the ball right now, like, okay, get rid of the ball, go, give it to your read, let the players make the place where you throw underneath. Or try to do your usual scramble drill stuff, try to do your usual chaos stuff. And that doesn't work when there's an extra body back there, right? Oh, Travis Kelce, go sit down in space. We've got three dudes around Travis Kelce. There ain't a lot of space. You know, you really put mahomes in an awkward spot for how he likes to play. That was last year. Last year mahomes, epaper drop back against drop 8, negative .1, this season, .42. One of the league's best passers against drop 8, storm the ball much shallower and getting a lot more yeah. This is the change the chiefs offense May when they got rid of Tyree kill brought in juju Smith used to do. You think it was partly because that Bengals game? Yes. It's part of that. Another part of it is mahomes choosing to change how he plays, right? And this is the thing about mahomes that has always been most impressive. Like the arm, the nola passes, the sidearm nonsense, whatever you want. The thing about mahomes that is shocking is that more than most quarterbacks, any other quarterback in the league, he changes his playstyle. He will change the way he plays the game. He's mature enough to say, yes, I'm this talented, but sometimes I just have to dump the ball off to Isaiah Pacheco. And so I'm just going to and he has the humility and the self control to do that. And so Ana rumu, one of your best changing, molding, throw different pitches at your defensive coordinators against mahomes, who has changed his playstyle since the last time that Lou saw him. Huge, huge, huge AFC playoff defining matchup once again because Lou's gonna have new stuff from mahomes. And mahomes is gonna have a different playstyle than Lucy before. So it's new challenges, very interesting to see what the Bengals defense brings out. I think mahomes still has the advantage, especially no chito Auguste, the stark corner for the Bengals. He's into this year. But Lou is a great signal of what other teams might start to do against your offense because he's very good at building these game plans. You know, I was fascinated by Lou, because just what the Bengals do in the second half. There's really nothing like it right now. And I was looking at his Wikipedia a

"Friend. Don't let them get the ball back. So of course, we burn through a quick mister field goal, they had two minutes left, and all of a sudden it was 19 7. And I was like having a heart attack because I've watched this on my TVs every Sunday for teams screw up that clock is my friend moment. I remember writing 20 years ago that they should have some 15 year old kid with pimples next to the coach who's played like a million hours of Madden. Just like Jeff Saturday. I mean, they pulled Jeff Saturday out of the ESPN booth. They might as well give them like a 15 year old who's played mad at all the time, just like call time out right now. Just do it. That's his only job. Call time out right now. The thing is, Indy has two good analytics guys. I've got these guys before. They're very smart and they know what they're doing. And it goes so fast. I think they just kind of get discombobulated. Yeah, and maybe they were telling him and he wasn't listening. Maybe they were scared, like, I don't know what the dynamic was there, but remember that opening press conference, erse pounding the table saying like, teams rely too much on analytics and then they get messed up and that's why we're not going to do and maybe Saturday's like screw it. I'm going with my gut. I don't think we should run. Like let's just keep going. Who knows what he was doing? Is it disaster? Go to number three. Okay. So the third one is derivative market betting is better now than ever. There's more options now than ever. And in the season like we're seeing play out, it's more valuable than ever. So, you know, back, back when we started gambling and you started longer than I did. I mean, you didn't have all these derivative markets and certainly not open as early as they are now. But with so much competition in the betting marketplace and legalization and so many more outs being opened up. You could bet on so many different things well before pre flop. And so, you know, there are certain teams that I won't bet on in the full game. There are certain teams that I won't bet on in the first half. There are certain teams that I will only bet there total over or under in the first half and I won't do it full for the full game. There's a variety of different examples. I mean, if you look at the Miami Dolphins, you just talked about them against the Houston Texans, a good bet to make in the second half was a bet on the Houston Texans, but the dolphins, they score early since tua came back. They're the number two best first half point margin, but they really outscored their opponents by ten points total in the second half over 5 games. They played since two has been back. The Chargers are a team that just does not score offensively in the second half of games number 28th in the NFL. You look at the script from the Tennessee Titans, one of the best first half teams out there, they fall off the rails typically in the second half of games. The same is true on the defensive side of the ball. If you look at a team like the eagles, who the Titans are going to be playing this week, the eagles allow 5.7 points per game in the first quarter. That's number two worst of all teams. So you got a great first quarter and first half team in the Titans going up against one of the worst defenses in the first half. That's an opportunity for like a first half bet on the Titans, although the market wasn't out yet when I was before we're recording this. You look at some of the defensive adjustments that these teams make at halftime. Like if you're betting on the Bengals, you should almost always bet them full game, not the first half because Lou Anna rumo's defensive adjustments are absolutely elite. They have the number four. What are their stats? Their second half stats are insane, right? Yeah, well, for a while there, they weren't allowing a single touchdown score for like 15 games in a row, something like that. Yeah. They have this season alone because it dates back to last year too, but just looking at this season, they have the number four best second half point differential. They're allowing just 7 points per game in the second half, which is also fourth best. D'amico Ryan's in the San Francisco forty-niners, another team that's making really good adjustments at halftime. Although I will say that this is a great game to talk about because tua is playing the forty-niners this week and now two is going to be down as left tackle, but the forty-niners have been stellar inside the red zone. And the Miami Dolphins have been one of the few teams that's been great down inside of the red zone. And they're playing without toron Armstead, the left tackle. So that's going to be a problem against this defense, but I'm really going to look forward to seeing how they match up against the former defense that Mike mcdaniel was at with the forty-niners. We talk about the Baltimore Ravens blowing all these leads. They continue to do it. They did it yet again against the Jaguars. We talk about Lamar Jackson not playing as well. The reality too, though, is their defense is allowing 13 points on average in the second half of games this year. It's the fourth worst in the NFL and the teams that are like number one, two, three worst plus the number 5 worst, like you're like, oh yeah, these defenses stink. But then like the Baltimore Ravens, that's a defense that you view as decent and they're allowing so many points. So, you know, their defensive coordinator Mike McDonald has not been calling good plays in the second half of games the strategy has it been sound. So there's a variety of they're definitely in, are we sure they're a good team Baltimore? Yeah, well, yeah, for sure. A 100%. I mean, they can't run the ball to save their life to protect the lead. They're defense. And their defense just doesn't get stopped over and over again. I'm starting to, I think Cincinnati can take that division.

"TV NFL podcast. I'm Gary Graham link. And I'm Connor or what's up, Gary. If we have an incredibly important show today, a lot of gravity, a lot of weight to this show. We're pretty hot. I don't want to oversell it, but I guess like picture the moon landing. If instead of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, it was like Ed Sullivan and The Beatles landing on the moon. I think that's about what that this show is going to be. As far as a comp goes. Do you remember, well, you're a little bit older than I am. Do you remember Linda ellerby? No. She had the Nickelodeon news show that came on kind of like at nighttime. After Nick news with Linda Ellerbee. Okay. I didn't know that was a thing. Yeah, Nick news with Linda Ellerbee, it came on, I think it was like after are you afraid of the dark. Like after kind of the powerhouse Friday lineup, she would come on and she's an accomplished journalist. I think she was an NBC forever. She had a really, you know, and not to say that Nickelodeon is not an accomplish thing. I think it's a very cool thing to want to explain news to kids. But yes, producer Shelby said, Nick news, you idiot. Yes. All right. But yeah, most nights you would not get to see it because I had to go to bed after are you afraid of the dark, which is a bad show to put a kit to bed with after, by the way. But yeah. Nick news with Linda Ellerbee was like, hey, like this week, we're gonna learn about like, you know, where, you know, where cement comes from and you're just like, all right, you know, I can miss this, but sometimes like Linda Ellerbee would come on and be like, you know, the president of Russia has been shot tonight on Nick news, and you're like, wow, like this is gonna be a heavy show. So that's kind of the feeling that I got since I don't read the production notes. Before this, that you were kind of setting me up like Linda Ellerbee a little bit. Well, they're starting the season. And I think that's kind of right. That's kind of the jumping off point for you right here. At the end of the show, the last segment, if you want to stick around, we're going to do our predictions. We're going to do awards predictions and super role predictions and all that stuff. We're also going to bring on Mitch goldach our editor also the host of Mitch eats food because it's just fair to plug that at this point. No doubt. That's a podcast. He's going to come on. I think correct me if I'm wrong. He's coming on solely to insult you. So this will be fun. So Mitch is Mitch's Mitch's obviously a character in our universe. And we bring him up quite a bit. He's a great follow on Twitter. I would highly recommend following Mitch. But he's also one of the most detail oriented people in the history of the world that I've ever met. And he puts up with a lot of crap for me. And so I predicted all 272 games. It took Mitch. I tied that thing in such a knot that it took Mitch like 8 hours with official NFL tie breaking rules to figure out who was making the playoffs in my from my Excel spreadsheet. So I want him to come on tell everybody what a jerk I am. Talk about his harrowing experience editing that and also let have him let everybody know that he came up with the Super Bowl pick that him and I share long before me and that I'm just a copycat bandwagon fan. Okay, all right. He also this has never happened before. He requested to play more than four, but fewer than 6 questions. Wow. Wow. He'll regret that, but we're gonna do it here. But we are going to start off the two of us, we are going to break down, there are 6. There are no more than 6, no fewer than 6. There's not 5, there's not 7. There's not, boy, what's a number another number that's higher than they say that there's not like 23, there's not like two. There are 6 stories that will define this NFL season, and we are going to give you all 6 of them. And we're going to do that right now. We'll alternate, I guess. Okay. Do you want to go first? Or do you want me to go first? I'll go first. Okay. Reverse alphabetical by first name, I think, is the way to go here. The storyline that I think we really didn't talk about, and no one talks about because every year we come to the seasons like, boy, these offenses look at all the offense in the league. Ah, the rules are all for offense and so many offensive innovations, et cetera, et cetera. I think we've kind of lost track of the fact that the Super Bowl and the conference title games last year, those were defensive battles. You had a slugfest between very two very familiar opponents forty-niners of rams, the NFC title game. In the AFC, you had Lou Anna rumo and that Bengals defense stymieing Patrick Mahomes in the second half, and that's what launched the Bengals into the Super Bowl. And that was coming off another Bengals game in which they, you know, that Titans game was another ugly defensive turning on turnovers type of a type of contest. We got to the Super Bowl and yes, you know, Aaron Donald did the things that he does, but you know, Raheem Morris, his both his blitz designs and his stunts, but also the way he, the moments he chose to unleash them. We're outstanding last season. And he had the Bengals number and Joe burrow's number in that game. And obviously we saw the rams, you know, part of it was the odo Beckham junior injury, but the rams were slowed down significantly in that game. And it looked like they were going to go nowhere in the second half until that final drive. So what I'm wondering is, you know, we've talked about, I guess the homogeneity of the league and how, you know, you say all the time, half the team's league are running some version of that Shanahan offense. I think that does make it a little bit ripe for maybe the defense to battle back a little bit this season. Yeah, obviously you are seeing these concepts more and more often, it makes them easier to defend, even if maybe you are not ideally equipped personnel wise to defend them at this point in whatever cycle this is at the NFL is in. So I'm just kind of looking around the league. You know, the teams I mentioned obviously the rams, the Bengals, those are really impressive teams with what they do defensively, I'm really curious to see I know I voted them like 22nd or something in the preseason power ranking, but I'm curious to see what the Steelers come up with this year. They have TJ watt. Yes. And that makes a big difference, but they really struggled defensively a year ago. However, they've gotten some reinforcements back. They're healthier on the defensive line, and it's a really impressive brain trust they have there. If you like what went on down in Miami defensively, the last couple of seasons, which you should, you're now combining Brian Flores and Mike Tomlin and Tara Austin. That's a lot of, it's a lot of experience and it's a lot of accomplishment in that defensive coaching room at this point. So that's a team I kind of have circled, but I'm just kind of curious overall to see how the defense reacts and is this the year that maybe the defense clause defense as a whole claw back a little bit against what has obviously been a pretty steady climb for offenses around

"Matthew Stafford never had a playoff win until this campaign now can he go win the Super Bowl. Stafford throws the fate back shoulder Cooper cubs got it. Matthew Stafford's done it again. They need to gain one to keep their hopes alive and Super Bowl 56. He flings it away up north down. Aaron Donald got there the greatest of all time on defense does it in the biggest moment of Super Bowl 56. A Lombardi trophy for Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Rams are world champion. Welcome to NFL live presented by Windows 11 and Intel. We'll hear more from you, right? But Marcus, what did you see on that final drive? Matt Stafford delivery. And brother, messed up for delivery. I was going to come in here and make you mad, 'cause he did throw two interceptions. But we gonna forget about it. They won the Super Bowl. Yeah. But here's the deal. That is why Sean mcvay brought Matthew. That last drive to get a touchdown was the reason why I show mcvay traded Jared Goff to get Matthew Stafford because I needed a guy to overcome when I'm not on my game. And let me tell all of America. Sean mcvay was not on this game. In this Super Bowl. But Matthew Stafford delivered Matthew Stafford experience showed up his arms straight shoulder, ball placement showed up, but more importantly, you had ten other guys in the huddle that said, this guy can lead us to a touchdown. Yeah. And so everybody level increases. Everybody job heightens because yes, if we do our job, our quarterback will get us there. And y'all know I said on this show a long time, a year ago, two years ago and I said, man, I just I do not trust Jared Goff. He a liar. I trusted Matthew Stafford in that situation. Even after two interceptions, I still felt confident that he would make enough plays in order to give his team a chance to win it. I think two things stood out for me throughout the game that allowed that drive to happen. I thought he was phenomenal with his feet. Specifically early against Lou Anna rumo, their defensive coordinator for Cincinnati's. The Bengals is a set that he gave them, and then really good job using his eyes. Look at him, just climb the pocket on second 11, don't force the football. Go get 7 yards in a scramble. Dude, this is the getting to number 5 in the progression to Cooper Cup on third and four, just watch his feet bounce, balance pounds. Look how quickly he's getting through that. I'm telling you, this is a different guy than when I played with him 6, 7 years ago, his feet, his feet, the reset, and then his eyes watch this angle. Hold, hold, hold and then come back all the way holding that safety jet, Jesse Bates to find Cooper Cup. And I think the thing is when you do that when Matthew does that, he listens to his feet, and then he uses his eyes great. Then he plays really smart. You know, I know he threw the two interceptions, but I would push back and say, there wasn't there was not a single throw that was careless. That was reckless. It was like an armpit. Right, he's trying to make the fit the ball. Right. So, you know, that was really impressive to watch. And he doesn't get the opportunity in the game to go on that game winning drive. If he doesn't do those two things throughout the majority of it. What struck me about the game winning drive in particular is something that markers said, which was McVeigh to not have a very good game. And that drive in particular, it wasn't Sean mcvay using the joystick, manipulating the quarterback getting those wide open play action throws. We're so used to. It was talent. Yes. It was the quarterback making special throws and then a special wide receiver getting open and the play calling really didn't have that much of a big deal to do with any of it. The 22 yard throw, do people come. I just can not stop watching this throat. You know, for a long time with Matthew Stafford, he would make throws similar to this in Detroit, these kind of no look trek passes and what would happen was the videos would come out and Lions fans would say, well, if this was Patrick Mahomes, it would be on SportsCenter. Well, the problem was they were in meaningless games. In the most meaningful game at the most meaningful point at the pivotal moment in Matthew Stafford's career, he delivered. He looked off the safety, held him there, looked at Clinton or pardon Hopkins, and then he threw one of the most beautiful past I've ever seen in my life. I honestly can not get over how you do. You know what was super impressive about him even with the two interceptions. And I actually retweeted, I was like, I'm not that mad at the first interception. You could tell that Matthew Stafford came into this game saying, I'm going to be measured. I'm going to be patient. And I'm going to let things come to me. And he could have gotten lost in the Super Bowl thing. And on that drive in particular with the Bengals DBs were playing off patiently working his way down. You know, how much though of the trust and Cooper cut allows him to be patient at times. And then take those risks when he needs to. But reps and reps and reps of all the off season together and believing you're going to be where you're supposed to be. And I also think this. And we mentioned this a little bit throughout the season. Matthew had to transition a little bit from I'm in Detroit, we stink. I've got to play hero ball and try to make the crazy throws to I'm on the rams. I got a great team around me. I don't have to force the issue. And then we saw in the last month when they needed him to play big time ball. He was able to do it. But I think it was that transition from him to believing. I don't have to make all these crazy throws all the time. You know, the other thing too that has been prevalent in his career is that Matthew Stafford doesn't play well in the biggest game. So I think he shattered that. Significantly, too. A little bit more on it. Yeah, let's go to this. He led the NFL with an 89 and a half to VR in the fourth quarter of one. The season. That's insane. Join 2007 Eli Manning is the only quarterbacks to lead three game winning drives in a single postseason. So the Super Bowl win caps off an incredible postseason run for Stafford. That may not even be the best way to say it where you can't come up with enough adjectives to describe what he's done. How does this change the narrative Dan first Stafford's career? I think he's a lot Hall of Famer. He's a lock Hall of Famer and he's a Super Bowl champion. And I think he's been called a lot of things by a lot of people. You have to call him a Super Bowl champion and you have to call him the Hall of Famer now. And I would put into context of this four game run, I would say it's one of the, if not the most clutch, stretch performances, we've ever seen from a quarterback. You just mentioned it three straight game winning drives led by the quarterback that hasn't been done. I mean, when they need him to make the biggest plays on the biggest stages, he did it week after week after week, and I think that to get in the Hall of Fame and Michael Irvin said this this morning, you gotta have great stats and you gotta have moments. He's gonna be top 7 in everything when he gets done. And now he's got one of the greatest postseason performance stretches we've ever seen. I think two man, what I was gonna talk about is even being measured in that game. We ain't seen there are Henderson all season. And Matt was like, oh, you got to match up? Yeah. That's where I'm going. Right. Van Jefferson. Same thing. When they lost OBJ, you could see this offense kind of go flat. And it was Matt Stafford and that final drive saying I am the best guy on the field with the ball of my head. Yesterday he did all that without Odell Beckham junior, Robert Woods and Tyler higbee. Yeah. But I was gonna say an in and also it's an interesting contrast to what happened in Green Bay, where Aaron Rodgers was so locked in on devonte Adams didn't really target any other wide receivers, some open guys, staffer didn't miss those open targets you mentioned OBJ, it's a moment that really makes you sick from yesterday's game. No don't Beckham junior goes down with the non contact knee injury, and it was that same knee where he tore his ACL back in 2020. So Nina, what do you make of that news? Well, it's absolutely brutal. I mean, it's thrill for OBJ to get a Super Bowl ring, but obviously headed into free agency. If he was completely healthy, you'd have to think.

"Look, a lot has been made and you know, I talked about it earlier about Joe burrow's pressure, his performance under pressure. He won't flinch. He is an incredibly bright, very quick thinking quarterback at the line of scrimmage. And he can go to different calls and different schemes. On a moment's notice. As you know, both of you know that it's hard to do that. It's hard to go from a RPO kind of concept to a wide zone to a more traditional quarterback, what the Patriots have run for years and years and years with Tom Brady. It's difficult to throw all of that into the mix and pick and choose at a moment's notice, Joe burrow can do that. And I think Zach Taylor has taken advantage of that by picking and choosing different types of offensive attacks. One thing about Zack Taylor that he said a couple of weeks ago when I thought was very true. He said, if you have a cup of coffee with Sean mcvay, you're going to get a head coaching job in the National Football League. Meaning, obviously, Sean mcvay is so well known now and has such a reputation throughout football of coaching coach or having coaches on his staff who are well versed in different offensive schemes. The other thing that somebody brought up to me yesterday and get your opinion on this, what you think of this. It's much easier to hire an offensive head coach than it is a defensive coach. Brian Dave all for example. Versus the Giants going with a defensive guy. Let's say Lou Anna rumo, because Lou Anna rumo interviewed for the Giants head coaching job. And he's the D.C. with the Bengals now. It's easier for the Giants to go out and get Dave ball and Dave able to build an offense and hire defensively than it is the other way around. Do you agree with that? I do agree with it. I do think there's still a place for defensive coaches and obviously the two right here in the AFCs with Belichick and Sean McDermott have done really, really well as defense coaches. Defense first coaches, but the problem that you have is actually to keep it here with the bills and the Patriots is what's going on right now with the bills and the Patriots and that is they just lost their offense of coordinators to head coaching jobs. So issue that you have is that if you're a defensive minded head coach and Josh McDaniels takes the Raiders job and Brian dabel takes the Giants job, well, now every three or four years, your quarterback is starting over with a new offensive coordinator and a new play caller, whereas if you just hire that guy, if you hire his Zack Taylor, if you hire a Sean mcvay if you hire Brian dabel, Josh McDaniels, that system stays in place as long as that guy is the head coach..

"Questions we had about their ability to dink and dunk their way down the field early on in the year. You've seen an emergence of some of those secondary weapons. It's not just tyreek hill and Travis Kelce, who by all means, we're outstanding against buffalo 19 catches between them 246 yards and two touchdowns, but jerick McKinnon has come onto the scene. You saw the thunder and lightning approach with Clyde Edwards, who finished with the second most Russian yards last week behind only Patrick Mahomes. And when you look at the receiving corps, it's been a cast of characters. Mikkel Hardman, not going to be considered an elite route runner anytime soon, but the chiefs of Ellie figured out, hey, look, when this guy gets the ball in his hands, he can be dynamic as we saw in the end around Byron Pringle playing a bigger role. There are so many different ways that she can go about attacking you and when I look at the Bengals unless they're getting pressure with Trey hendrickson and company up front. I mean, this is a stop unit that's going to be in conflict all night long. Oh, there's no doubt. And that's got to be the key. They somehow have to get some pressure and they somehow have to turn mahomes over two or three times. And I am just not as high in the Bengals defense, I think, is everyone else. And I heard Dan or velocity call last week's defensive performance by Cincinnati from a schematic standpoint as the best of the weekend. I like Dan. He must have not made it to game two of the divisional round. To me, Ryan's won that battle by long mile. For the last 5 days, I've really heard people talk up Cincinnati's defense. Man, I just don't see it. And specific to last week. And this is something I kind of wanted to hold for this junction of the podcast rather than a top Zack Taylor and Louisiana rumo had a built in advantage nobody talked about last week. I stayed quiet about it because sometimes it can be a little narrative street. I thought, do you want me to mention it? Off the buy like Tennessee might have a few wrinkles, but we were wrong, right? And the built in advantage was basically Zack Taylor, was Ryan Tannehill's quarterback coach for four seasons in Miami. Yup. And Lou Anna rumo, the Bengals D.C. was in Miami as a defensive mind for 6 seasons when Tannehill was there. They know Ryan Tannehill's a jag. That's it. It's just another guy. They know Ryan Tannehill had this 18 month stretch so many deviations passed like normalcy that it would have to collapse at some point, and they knew how to rattle him. They knew what he liked to do. What he didn't like to do, that he holds onto the ball touched longer than he shoot at times that he stares receivers down, that he's not the most accurate. It sometimes he can't handle big moments. And if you are a dolphins fan, you have seen Tannehill crumble when it matters most. And then you had Todd downing. Who was just horrific? What he did during the bi week, I have no idea. But if you told me he went fly fishing, if you told me that he went on a cruise, I probably wouldn't argue with you, because he was that bad. He was terrible. In saying all of that, they still should have won the game. The Titans averaged 6.8 yards per play. And if you knew what you were watching early and saw zero on the scoreboard for the Titans, you were thinking, it's only a matter of time because if you actually watch some of those drives where the balls at the Cincinnati 39 in blossom game with a stone cold drop in the flat doesn't happen, he's probably still running. And then you had the third down Tannehill miss to a wide open AJ Brown on an in route that would have extended the drive. And then a possession later, Tannehill and misses a wide open AJ Brown down the right hash for 60 yard touchdown. The list goes on and on for that game of missed opportunities, whether it's Tannehill missing a throw, whether it's a guy dropping a ball. So for me, it was the Titans not executing. Not really what the bangles did defensively. And it kind of talked about the Bengals defense for the last two weeks. And how they just aren't that team and nothing's really changed metrically again on this side of the bowl. And over the last two weeks, we've kind of broken down the Bengal season into two parts and the second part of that season starts from week 8 onwards. I mean, you're looking at a Bengals defense 18th in EPA per play allow 24th in success rate aloud. And over that 13 week stretch, since nanny's phase three quarterbacks. In the top ten of EPA, plus completion percentage above expectation. Loss two of those three games took a miracle to beat mahomes in week 17. The rest of the quarterbacks. In that sample, it's Mike white, it's Josh Johnson twice for two different teams. It's a beat up Baker Mayfield. That's drew lock. It's Big Ben, who just retired this morning. It's car twice, and it's case kingdom. This isn't a good defense, especially when you put it in the context of third most expensive D line in the NFL. Third most expensive secondary. And I go back and think about that week 17 matchup. The chief scorer touched down on four straight drives in the first half. Tyreek had a monster drop well before halftime on this like 65 yard pass that would have set the chiefs up around the Bengals ten yard line. They could have had more points. In that game, when you think about this and think about that specific situation, Travis Kelce and tyreek hill were battling back from COVID. Clyde Edwards whole air did not play. Jerk McKinnon wasn't a thing yet. Towards the final part of warm ups, starting left tackle Orlando Brown strain his calf did not play. Lucas niang, the chief starting right tackle, Torres patellar tendon 6 snaps into the game. So down the right and left tackle. That forced the chiefs to kick Joe toney to left tackle. You effectively downgraded three positions on the offensive line on the fly, none of which you game planned for prior. And yet the bangles only got to mahomes on four of his 37 dropbacks. They made contact on just four of 37 dropbacks. So that is the point that you made at the top like Trey Henderson and those guys have to get after him. They couldn't really do it with a makeshift offensive line. And if you look at the last 7 games, the cheats offense has really come alive. Number one, an EPA per play, Patrick Mahomes, no surprise is responsible for that. He's leading the charge. He's number one in EPA, plus completion percentage above expectation over the 7 game run. He seemed the kind of mature and a major way, especially the last two weeks..
