The Secret to Getting Motivated For Your Workout

"How do you motivate yourself to work out but first of all. I just want to quickly address the new year new. You mentor that. Banded about every flipping january. I hate it. I loathe it. It's lazy. it's unhelpful and unnecessary. And somebody's magazines. They would always be the new year new you concept or you'd get their release it sort of end of november and tips for new year new nonsense absolute nonsense. Do you think the rock thinks. I need to twenty pounds of pure muscle for my next role but damage thursday afternoon. So it's not the right time. I'll have to come back with us on monday morning. Of course he doesn't so this idea that an e program has to start on a monday or on the first or in january is in my opinion a complete and utter nonsense so let's disregard this idea of new year new you right because really if you're looking for motivation for anything goal oriented whether that's fitness health or otherwise then it's about a shift that happens in your mind in my opinion not about push up oppress iran squat a burpee or one single workout. And if i'm being very very honest. I've sort of circled around this podcast for a few weeks now knowing that i wanted to do it but also i just have to be really honest. I find it a very difficult topic to talk about. Because for years. I've looked motivated from the outside and indeed i've done a lot of things that are motivated person would do. But i was rarely achieving the rather nebulous goal. I had set myself which was of losing weight because i was attempting to achieve something by only using one approach which is exercise. And i also know that this subject she went about body image is such an emotional one and it doesn't matter how good ones intention is to put out something that might be helpful even me and the reason why i hate new year new year's because i used to find it so triggering because i was looking at it through the emotional filter a feeling not good enough all of my garbage and junk emotional detritus that was affecting me. I was looking all of those things and therefore found it quite negative experience because of my own baggage and even if somebody said something with good intention i might have seen it through a filter. I found it triggering so i do find a little bit difficult to talk about and i just hope that you know. This isn't meant to be. Triggering is really honestly meant to be helpful. And the only reason i'm focusing on fitness is because that's thing that i'm asked about the most and so it feels like It feels like it's worth addressing. But also all of the tips that i'm going to mention hey can be applied to any goal whether it's one that takes place in the gym or when you're working out or whether it's to deal with work or to do anything that you want to achieve to be honest and so this is my point when it comes to motivation and to know what your goal is and i can use my many many years of failure to failure to achieve my goal to understand why this is such a vital part so let's use my particular experience of weight loss in the sense of i would come at it thinking to wait. I must use exercise to do. But actually where i've been able to achieve success if you will in weight loss is took a step back from. It really looked at it and to all of the things that contributed to me being heavier than i wanted to be. And that was the only time that i was able to make any significant progress that has lost it and i know i'm using the example of weight loss of lothair. I do apologize. But it's the one. I have the most experience with an i can perhaps for the most insight into but this doesn't exclusively apply to weightless as i said so. My goal was to lose weight. And i used exercise as a blunt instrument with which to beat myself and the objective. But as i've discussed lengthier on the poco my issues with weight or a variety of things including emotional eating many many things mental blocks whatever and a thirty minute session. Can't sort out your emotions or anything like that. But i was able to take step back. Look at the bigger picture and make tweaks and a lotta varies of my life. In order to achieve my goal of not being at of being at a weight that made me unhappy at uncomfortable potentially unhealthy the long term. That really worries me. This look different for everyone. But there is an opportunity to sit down and create something whether it's writing down a mind map or just listing the things that might be standing between you and your goals and then work from there to try and put something in place. It will be helpful to you to try and achieve it in another thing. I wanted to say about goals here while we're talking about setting them. If you find that anything you're describing a goal is preceded by the words should then definitely look at it. I don't like to talk in definitive absolutes team much but this is one more. I feel confident in saint joe's to have a just take another look at that. Just come back to it and take a look at again. Because i've come to find the word should give because actually there's a hint actually should to me has a hint of not wanting to do something about it if it's a should i have to explore a little bit more thinking about it. Think about all the things so you might use the word. Should i should clean the bathroom. I should take the bins. I should do that admin. I should go and apologize these things that you might not necessarily want to do. I know finding your y common expression in the landscape of self improvement. But i do think it pays to ask why you want to achieve that goal and often. When it's should it's it's not always your goal. I remember for a long time that the fact is that. I want to lose weight. I want to lose weight is because a lot of people who weren't me. We're telling me i should lose what you should lose weight and it was a negative so as i really i should. I should lose weight earn. It wasn't my goal. My goal looks like how it sounded. I had to take a look back and really see what my goal was. And if you if you take a step back from it and you've asked whether it's your goal while you want it. Then we i guess the next thing to ask yourself is if you're prepared to do more than you're already doing to achieve it

Those are show is David. I think it's David fincher. It's an animated show called love sex and robots or something like that. Have you seen it led to habit. I know what it is a so yeah so it's sort of like an old school heavy remember the heavy metal that animated sort of like that so does the twelve episodes but depending on who you are the order. The episodes is different. Oh Wow so does the guy he was like Netflix clearly figured out I was gay and so this is the order I have and then my order is different for someone else does like a bunch of different orders based on. I mean they know everything about you. You know it's funny. I have an account so I have. It's it's labeled right. We're taping this June but that one that one's come in I think didn't he well yeah that won't be good and then the apparently there's a couple later this summer yeah but they know like there's outlay chow splits coming out soon yeah. I'll see child's play yeah. I like the Halloween remake yeah me too. I think the conjuring the two conjuring I think I've been unhappiest with I feel like those movies are weirdly underrated and I know they're huge heads but yeah people don't see them as like sort of horror like how they should be nominated for an Oscar potential we we've talked about that on. 'cause we talk about movies. He's Lothair and if you look at the two thousand thirteen movies I I think it's two thirteen yeah. It's like it's one of the five best movies of that year but you would never would never get nominee. He's a great director the director of that caliber with actors of that caliber was it conjuring bring to there's a scene where I think it's about Patrick Wilson's into foreground and in the background you see that person like change into a demon but they're out of focus ahead I shouldn't I was like any movie that has that scene is worth spending money Liane like so. Let's get to this next story showy because it's filtered freestyle Friday freestyle feel Good Friday. And we're not about offending people tonight. We're about uplifting. Right. That's what we wanna do. We wanna make people feel good push him into the weekend with a nice little feel-good nudge into your weekend. Oh, you made it the Friday little pal. He gal enjoy Saturday and Sunday. It's feel good freestyle on the Johnny b show. John Brennan told you know, how John brand told me I rarely talked to him. What do you tell you get right in the nuts on Friday? Yeah. Just basically the opposite of that. Okay. We'll be we can do that too. So. There was a prompt Pozzo. Look I've been seeing a lot of these these prom dates out in public and stuff otherwise change last weekend at Lothair ac- to a lot of people call it the counter a nice Cuban greasy spoon and on Columbus. Classic place in Tampa legendary and scenario well with Shadley and was a prom date post, prom at LA terra seed people. No, young good looking Hispanic couple high schoolers and chain. I go look at that. He goes. Wow. He took his prom date to Lothair seat loving it. Move. I was super impressed by the kid that age he had to wear with all to go. You know, what I could try to take into some, you know, stupid cookie cutter Applebee's whenever they do. But he's like taking my girl got damn loud. Tara sita. Even at that point, his his stupid little school pallets already developed enough to know where to get that good good at eleven o'clock at night. And that's where he took her. So we have we are focused on them for saying like that baller, dude. He's gonna have he's going to have a good life. He's going to be successful. But then I thought, you know, about you know, how I I never went to prom. I went to my ninth grade prom, but I never did my regular prom. But I look these proposals. And I wonder how I would have done it some idiot. Did it the wrong way again? And that's how we even got it up on our Pratt page because we I remember doing this story three two or three years ago where this kid this exact same thought when I saw this on that. This was. Somebody you know, once in a while one of us throw same same thing. Yeah. Yeah. This is the same thing to student held up a racist prompt Pozzo sign and now he's banned from his prom. It's like he didn't want to go to prime now. What an idiot, and this is what the the sign said. And this is unbelievably stupid, it's unbelievably racist. And look you're gonna be racist. And being a jerk off at least be funny like original, right? This is horrible. He says if I was black. I'd be picking cotton. But I'm white. So on picking you for prom and approve how dummy is he ran out of space on the damn poster board had to squeeze the corner. This guy's a moron on every single level. And he held it outside the school for the girl to see. And. Yeah, now this Ohio idiot kid is apologizing for his racist, prom puzzle. And now he's banned from this. He said, oh, man. I'm not even quote this kid. What a moron goes what I thought was how disappointing this is in two thousand nineteen. We're still dealing with the stuff is what superintendent of the school said his apologies. Probably just something that you know, has no heart in it's probably something. That's somebody's wrote down. Yeah. But wouldn't idiot. And it got me thinking we could do better than that better. We can do way better. Let's do our own proposals. And let's take some from the callers, we'll read them off Twitter too. I want good original prom polls. Something that's going to really touch us something if I were to be a high schooler girl, our guy it would womb me into a problem with you. That's what I want really hit me in the heart strings, and we'll take your phone calls.

"Twitter, Instagram Email. All right. They're glad to have you. Also, the live video stream, and we're also in the blaze radio network. It's the weekend with joepags, and we have to lighten things up a little bit trae Kennedy sensation, he's a social media sensation he said. And the reason why is because he he does videos editors absolutely hilarious. Restarted my daughter Sam turned me onto his comedy. And a guy just made me laugh out loud. And I was really honored to have him on this week trae appreciate you coming on. How are you? I'm good. How are you? Living the dream of my daughter said you gotta check this guy out. Now, you don't know anything about me. I'll give you a little bit of insight because you look like you really care. I'm jaded, man. I've been as business a long time. So when somebody says, they're funny, I almost pride myself on not laughing. Okay. That's who I am. I think there are a lot of people like me, you're not funny. I put on one of your videos, and I don't know if it was the middle school. Middle schoolers be like or white people be like or or moms when visitors are coming whatever. It was about three or four minutes. Ended up fighting the laughter. Because again, I'm that guy trained that guy. And then by the end of it. I'm crying laughing burst out. I couldn't hold it back due. This was just absolutely hilarious. Where does this? Where does this come from his just purely observing schoolers having been one or observing your mom, tell me the basis of how you do it hit my funny, bone hard? Love here. Great west. I get along the way described as equal parts observant and annoyed. So. The white people, you know, just seeing at a wedding watch. This see why people doing the Chacho slide? And so I just jotted down and. The middle source thing, and it was a big which my mother was satisfied where it was basically just me fifteen years ago, but. I've got I've got an eleven year old now, you know, I've got older daughter's because my daughter actually reached out to you. But I've got five daughters in one of them right now is just about to go to middle school. She walks. Exactly. Like that. When I say, go clean your room. We take the garbage out the shoulder thing. You had it dude. You nailed it. Yeah. Yeah. I just got back intellectual real me. I think the thing that jumped out at me, I and go look him up. He's on Facebook. Trae end Kennedy is his name there also in YouTube and your following his exploded on Facebook. It's over two million. What's it on YouTube? Yeah. Youtube YouTube up till two hundred thousand on Instagram as well with about a one and a half million. So. It's been fun. Just people like me saying you have to go see this guy. I think. That's what's cool. These days social media go so viral and couples videos, you mentioned really took off, and I just saw influx of followers, and I think it's just a lot of. Yeah. Like, hey, posted a Fred to they're paid or texting into friend, and it goes from there. So it's at school. He's name's trae Kennedy. He's hilarious. I in very very tell. You a great singer. You actually are very good dancer, the whole cleaning the house making fun. You dancing your ass off in that entire thing. But I do as I'm talking to you. I remember what it was a crack me up. But I want you to expand upon this. Because it's as if you saw me in nineteen Ninety-one, I was trying to do the running man and do a wider than you'll ever be. And and it was exactly what you did in that video when you pretend or you're trying to do the dance, and you can do the dance. But you're doing it wrong on purpose. And you going to set it is at it. Dude. Have you actually seen people do that? Because it was me twenty years ago. It's totally so, yeah, I'm like the white boy who can kind of dance like. It's like, I friends and the one of the more shoot dancing. You do it. And then I watch them. One time he really wanted to grasp. And I'd look you were little. I can do and just so taken from that. And making fun of like how white people are like video and purposely doing it awkwardly the dance. I think other people are like, Yep. That's me. Did you start the it's trade? Kennedy. Follow him everywhere. Trae end Kennedy T R E Y N Kennedy. Spelled as as you would expect when you started doing this was let me just do some fun videos or was it? I'm not going to do this as a career people have always thought it was funny. But what was? It was it was the fine that people still remember a little six clips that that came and went. Yeah. But I I was in college man, but he was strictly for fun and for years, I thought like this is fun and move on. But the last. Changing dramatically and just as like a couple of years ago. I kind of said, hey, I'm going to persist fulltime. And and now there's tons of people doing it. And it's a full-fledged as it in doing what I do people know, they're gonna get my opinion. Based on fact, I talk about everything a lotta politics a lot of harsh stuff. I try to be funny to but but I'm nothing I'm nowhere near as funny as you are, but it's heart. You still have to be very very aware of the filter that you might have to put on the stuff you do as somebody who's of the younger generation, knowing how PC our culture has become and how offensive things can be even if they are meant to be offensive. How careful are you with what you put together? It's got to be hard to be funny. No. Yeah. Definitely. At the beginning of being a family friendly place, people appreciate him. Simply walk that line. And then kind of. Let's go to the edge of like the PG. And also that just the whole video like initiative making fun of white people noticed a few comments of people being like, you know, this is racist or whatever, but vast majority, I think people take it in. It's funny in light and doesn't bother them. So. So far so good, and maybe have a knack for knowing where to go and where not to go. But that's something. I'm very. Well, I mean, it's something that used to be what comedy was I mean, I I bring this guy up all the time the guy named Barry Sobel used to make fun of everybody. And he would actually focus on black people be like and he's just a whitest guy. You'll ever see and a full black audience would be rolling in the aisles laughing because he was hitting some Mark about observations about their life experience. You really can't do that anymore. Although you do as you said, you you really do teeter that line. And it's so freaking funny that if anybody is offended by then it really wasn't for them. They don't get it. You know what I mean? Yeah. That's what I saw on same lake from what people that fall do black and blue. Probably not going go there. You're going to your point. If you do that do that. Well, it was black and be like there'd be white. You will about about it. While you're laughing at it. It's just the space kind of different. I was something friends recently about the best shows of all time that show couldn't air today. But the jobs that they were making this as reason as ten years ago. Is different. And it is impacting comedy. Yeah. Just really change its trae Kennedy. Go follow him everywhere. Facebook dot com slash trae and Kennedy YouTube dot com slash user slash trae. And Kennedy look them up online because the guys blowing up, which is awesome, really really happy for you. I'm proud of you don't even know you to be proud of you. But I I really am. Because a guy like you in a mind light yours is necessary today. There's so much angst out there. Do you think that a guy like you who is truly just that funny through his observations? I mean, you really showing life experience at a very funny light, do you think it's necessary because of all the angst that's going on. Right. And we just living in a world of angst. Totally nuts. A cool lane down where I meet people are getting messages like. Me a lot me and my family or whatever because the internet is so Chuck all of just the angst arguments. I think I've kind of nailed is a brand of you come to straight entities corner of the internet is just gonna be fun. Yeah. We're just going to try to be like, oh, yeah. That's so true. And it's funny. It's funny escape because again, I mean, I said earlier, I'm jaded in this business was long as I've been and you don't want to laugh at things anymore because you think there's some sort of a like this guy is trying to get the pay for some was this guy's trying to get me to use degree at his side or vote for somebody. In essence, you're like when a guy like me who listens to talk radio all day. And then does it at night you're like a galaxy? Who turns on music, I got to put some music on. I go to trade Kennedy for a while. And just enjoy man and just laugh that let me ask you this. Because comedy to me is is such a balancing act. You don't seem to exaggerate in your observations. I mean, what you're saying really does happen middle schoolers act like that the follow release says your ass. I mean that really does happen. You know, mom's really do say don't poop for the next six hours. If they're a company coming over. I mean, all that is really reality. How do you balance not exaggerating because if you go overboard, whatever because you're right there is so freaking relevant and funny. Great. I think got to find the balance there. I really think of I make fun of these basic white girls, they LX yoga. Oh, yeah. You know, what's really easy job, pumpkin. Spice Lothair was made that joke. So let's say that's not really that funny. But right, creative. Like oh. I love watching the Grinch because I loved bad, boys. You know? Nobody's ever said that word for word. But. I would say something that cheesy right? If I'm a basic, girl or whatever. So that's that's definitely that's a great question. Because you have to kind of as being a blend of like humor in shrews makes us be people watch it. That's funny because I've experienced that done that it ain't right? If there's no hint of truth at all it won't relate to people. They won't laugh because they don't get. It is Trey Kennedy. Go follow him everywhere. Trae end Kennedy. For for me. When I watch your videos. I think to myself, I am guessing you've got a real lane known oral groove that you know, what's going to work. But you're almost every voice in the video..
