"Instead of spinning. Forty thousand dollars on a trip to italy. They gone spent one hundred grand on their house. We are shocked. How much money is in the country. So everybody's working. It was the right decision to make terracotta. Respect the file respect the science and Being a body call the team of five million by. Its very cohesive pretty much. It'd be like norway or any way you know. They can band together to do things i think. Anyway it was wise move and it really paid off. That's incredible. I've always been impressed in new zealand. But i do want to tell you. I was rejected band. Actually do you mind my telling you. Please tell me all right. So i was shooting yogi. Bear three d. in your beautiful country. Oh yeah yeah. Yeah i kind of women image. Yeah and shooting in three d takes an incredibly long time so we were there for. I think five and a half months and it was fantastic. We stayed in auckland. We shot every day in a forest. Outside of town would hill yup yup. I think we went to lake. Tap out topol. Yup yes and i had a fabulous time. I made new friends. I wonderful food. It was a fantastic place to be shooting when i came back and it was time after year to promote the movie i went on a show that has now no longer called george lopez show. Yeah and you know how on talk shows. You have to bring some kind of amusing story. Dick and i'm really bad at it. I was in auckland. One night i went to a concert like some the cast were going and whatever so we went out. I left early. And i was walking back from the concert to my hotel which was probably a half mile and i had my backpack on. It was like maybe ten o'clock at night and a car full of boys drove past. And they said. Show us. Your ted and i was like. Oh that hasn't happened in a while. That's stuck in the seventies. I don't know it was more amusing than anything. So i told this story on the george. Lopez show and the minister of tourism at the time made an announcement. I got a formal letter. That was no longer welcome in new zealand. No yes and then it became. The auckland barreled. They made a story out of it. Because there was a woman there and editor who defended me and wrote an op. Ed piece and then other women wrote in so i had this nice little group of support so i wrote a letter and i called in to a local radio show and i said i love your country and i would love to be welcome back. Let's have a little bit of unvarnished truth so we can get down with reality and grow right. Yeah i said you know we have plenty of bozos here to guys like that. I would say are obviously completely uncouth. And they are a throwback. I must say. I don't get that kind of reaction. I don't know if i would anymore either. I know it was after but how disgusting that the young women should be explosives in dumb. Yes sorry that's just. I feel ashamed and yet not surprised. Oh no i was amused. And i thought it would be a fine story for george lopez show. I didn't realize. I guess the the vocal ization of the story would be offensive as well. Well i'm gonna plead frank zappa on that. There is nothing that you can say no words especially if you'll speaking truth it can be objectively offensive. It's very subject of and you can only eat. Speak your truth. And i say go for it because Right thinking people want to get down with reality and that means you have to hear you have to hear things that are uncomfortable. How much did your own personality. And zina mary into each other well. I didn't think anything. I never talked myself very seriously as a human being. I didn't think i was a grown up now. You don't feel like you're up until it's too late. Like suddenly fifty go. Holy shit is that creepy skid to stop taking myself seriously right so i was thought. Well let's just. I'm just saying the words at the writers give me an addressing may the way that the designer drizzles man. The makeup is somebody else's so i felt like a very small part of the work and then about seven years ago. I was being interviewed by somebody by friends actually in another country where i had to be completely. I wasn't selling genaro. I was really figuring out something for the first time i realize. Oh my god. I was an important part of that because as an actor all that data other woods and the clothing and the action. Everything has to be run through your nervous system and your history and it comes out in a way that is for unique to you sir. I realized that it was quite a lot to do with me. Just as nice character gabrielle. Was everything about her and her nose. Sesame her body and her history brought life to that so yea i guess there was more. I was more to do other than i ever thought i mean. Every time i play a character at it to me little bit. I think hopefully for the better. That's interesting yeah specifically. When i think about this. I think about playing shelly in the house. Bunny my character has an absolute heart of gold really wants the best for people and is not competitive in typical female sense. I guess and i really loved feeling that way and it made me feel like i changed a change my relationships with women in hollywood. I think oh interesting. Yeah it was really nice. Was that because you could drop all cynicism and all insecurity that sort of breed cynicism juno to main yeah. I think that it was also the realization that envy and jealousy was just not very productive and like letting go of that early twenties feeling where god she's hotter than i am. She's gonna get the role you know. Whatever holiday you. Yeah yes and that was really liberating. I wanna ask you. Do you feel like your fan. Base is slightly different and more passionate ended. Vans help keep the show continuing because in my my memory it was almost like star trek. A bit. zena where you have incredibly loyal fans who feel very passionately about the characters and storylines and opinionated and ultimately helped show succeed. Yeah would that be a correct assessment. Yeah i think. The difference in timbre between fan bases and i haven't been inside the star. Trek families live very cohesive. As is the zena fan. Base fury cohesive and then every other Stargate all these sort of things that you see at conventions right have massive very well defined fan bases and What was very particular about al one. Is that because the show had this ethos of the greater. Good you act in line with the greater good. They either naturally self selected into that missing or they began to embody it and doing acts of kindness out in their own communities. So yes there was a real kind of an unspoken conversation a deal between the show and the fan base and it was about being part of something. Great more important than yourself and living kindness and paying forward. What's your stuff so. I think that there was a deal between us opponent and as somebody once told me of you stick with the fans. They'll stick with you and that seems to be true and Yeah on them. You don't have anything without them. Losey i love how you put that the covenant. That's beautiful well. Thank you okay lucy. If you could live anywhere in the world for a year where would it be. I'm a sucker for. Italy or france needs to where in italy on and on may not been all over. I haven't spent much in our really liked down. Apulia's the heel of italy. "The cubs then on october fifteenth. They absolutely just the cubs and they do it again. On the fifteenth as well winning both of those games by outscoring the chicago cubs fifteen to nine losey or they win that last game by a score of nine to six to win that record and now i mean the i mean the championship series is one of the most infamous series in. Mlb history on one side. You have the marlins the miracle who had just a few months before we're in the cellar of the end of the nfl and on the other side the chicago cubs who were the lovable losers. Who for a very long time. We're just so close to victory. They jumped to a three to one lead including two out of three in miami and they were sure favorites to take the series when it shifted back to chicago but in game five an absolute stellar performance by josh beckett brought the series back to chicago and back to wrigley were the home team always has the advantage and with the cubs needing to win only one game and having studs like mark pryor and kerry wood on the hill in those games most people thought the marlins hopes were over and game six. The cubs enjoyed a comfortable three to nothing. Lead with one out in the thinning when it all fell apart in the marlins went on to win. The game tying the series. This was the steve bartman incident. And now you can't really blame bartman for the cubs loss entirely in the series. But i mean in. There's still a lot of baseball left. But i mean like it's it's definitely infamous in. It's not necessarily yet but we'll end. We're gonna end with the world series right here and i know got really nerdy about this team but it's a really interesting team at nfl. I find it to be very very interesting. So yankee stadium. Obviously it's a massive stadium game one at yankee stadium. Marlins win by a score of three to two in front of fifty five thousand in new york. They would lose though the next game by score of one to six in front of those same fifty five thousand fans to tie the series at one to one and then go home to play in miami now the yankees would win by a score of one to six as well in front of the sixty five thousand fans in miami to to bring the marlins down to one to two in the series but following eight four to three twelve inning victory. the marlins then went on to win the rest of the series outscoring the yankees by eight four scoring sixty games or six runs in game five to bring this to bring the series to and actually to end the series in miami. Send it back to new york. Giving the marlins a three two lead and then on october twenty fifth of two thousand three eight to nothing score the miami marlins won the two thousand three world series. I mean it's it's pretty amazing. The the world series marked one hundred anniversary of the annual event although because it had not been a world series played in what would have been it. Second year of one thousand nine hundred four the cancellation of all postseason play as a result of the strike in one thousand nine hundred ninety four. It was the ninety ninth world series played. Josh beckett went on to win the world series. Mvp this was joe. Buck from Joe buck quote from him during the during the world series. Trying to win it all again. Slow roller right side beckett. Picks it up tax kasahda in the florida. Marlins or world champions the marlins have stunned the yankees shocked new york and this improbable team improbable. Ride the end up on top winning in six games over the yankees. And that's gonna do.

The dodgers are playing earlier today. Max scherzer dodger. Stadium there in philadelphia in philly max on the mound for the dodgers and the lineup is out no mookie betts and dave roberts has indicated that mookie betts is likely to go back to the injured list. Yeah i'm telling you this is the they better start getting ready for the wild card game. And that's how they're going to have to go through that so that means probably know if he goes back in the injured list no bets in august and no kershaw in other kershaw at least until september. Trae turner is leading off tonight. And for some reason billy mckinney is still in the lineup adding in the athol. because he's playing for betts. Betts was originally in that spot. Yeah but you've got guys immune you could move allow anyways. I could juggle that lineup. To exclude billy mckinney. But andrew friedman and dave roberts obviously believes he should be. They're facing a right hand. He's left handed coming up. I'm the only person who feels that messy and ramos playing together. Violates fundamental law of the universe as basic great pictures of them of course in the days of the classic jewels. But i imagine as a player. It doesn't matter does it. The past doesn't my reminder especially we speak players like that they're going to solve the problem out and they were enemies of course but they have to for the fans for the club for the for the sake of football but I'm pretty sure to ramos lovling with missy and so beat for for for for for missy having those players by your together in the same teammates is plus and they think the same as i just. I just said nights. He's not going to be a problem this month people. They're going to go along very well and they're gonna go enjoy together. What's your favorite messy moment in abassah. Should joel's thus good one nine is a really good one. I think i would have to head off a goal in in the copa that race. Final in six or seven. He was not even even always in twenty twenty was in nineteen and for the for the viewers. Don't remember that good where he gets the ball on the halfway line. And it's very much modernize kids. Sam against england against the same competition etc but the one thousand nine years very to be able to do that kind of thing to pay this kid. I mean everything about that. Gold is incredible and this is not yet the super dominant boss. Not my of course. They won the championship this before and it was not even playing the final. But he's he's so young bossa with reich guada- era and for him to do that kind of stuff. You will be watching. You gotta okay and you knew already that following ten fifteen years we know. Now we'll be just exception frank It would be first goal differently from dino when he chipped the ball over the defender and then macy's chip the ball over the goal keeper. It was his first full bustle on out as as a as a player fantastic and and and and it's funny. Because when i think about that game i see like one of all the goals about that goal. I think about one hundred to all the goals that he's called that chipping the ball over the goalkeeper. That's kind of for mississippi signature. Why you smiling now. Because that's what i was gonna say. I'm honestly going to hybrid of the two things right. Well he's upset because of not just that gold is users talking about. He scored four or five late picking the ball. We're white coming in nutmeg. People driven past three or four defenders giving them keep the is put on shaw but come off the bench and your host game. Ten minutes to some of the situation so keep her off. He's light and commonly to over them. What's all the foster boat. Lukaku to chelsea is a good move for now but would have spending more and getting harlan this summer. Being the smarter long-term move it also prevents him going in a year for last to a cane. Lewis city embarrass real madrid or ambiguous. Ps j. joe's yes. Of course nothing. The fact that holland was the number one target that he's the one that went for first and there was no way. This could have happened this summer. I think shows you that yet. This is ryan dot think and made a lot more sense originally then lukaku but once. You can't do you realize there's no going back and back again. We don't moons then what you do do you wait and take the risk in a year time. Someone then signs holland. Because you've got no guarantees. All you go for your number two we. She's very close to your number one target. Because i think they're also be very happy with kaku. Yes love money. And he's he's much older than in harlem but you can also said i primarily guaranteed already experienced all of that that he's been there before of goals in different clubs different contact different situation so it makes sense as to why you would go for lukaku too but yeah but yeah of course. The number one target again was hot. Lukaku which team in the premier league will benefit most from fans. This season liverpool. You don't lose six games in detroit not my unfilled losey. Six games all with the crowd right so liberal as an easy one. Absolutely frank i would go for the report. But i can add newcastle cylinder. Premier league yes. They are frank But yeah for me. "And i'm speaking beyond sports but in today's world like we've got a we have to be informed citizens we we we are worse selves in general when we are reactive to news. That makes us emotional. Yeah all i'll say is. I've learned personal lessons over the last few years of of a if there's a headline or tweet or some quick hit that makes me fearful excited nervous or angry. Whatever i've learned probably none of those are true. And if i dig deeper i'll find some level of normalcy. They're like i've fallen for some hook. Yeah i i think that's exactly right. I mean frank. Clark is a big part of the chiefs. And so when you see this star for the chiefs who maybe hasn't lived up to expectations and people are a little frustrated here. One a run with though he's gonna be in jail for three years. Let's cut him and so you know it's especially in the legal system because you just there's so many questions in a lot of stuff stays kind of behind closed doors. You just kinda have to pause and say okay. Three years is the maximum people. Don't get the maximum it just. It really doesn't happen that often. You know ninety. I don't know what the exact status but it's close to ninety five to ninety nine percent of cases settle with a plea agreement. And so you know you're looking at a. He's not going to go to trial he's not going to get the maximum 'cause he wouldn't settle for maximum right so it's just you know taking a moment to pause and think in realize that. Yeah it's not great for him that great for his image. It's not great for the chiefs organization to have a player. Get into legal trouble. But he's not the first he won't be. The last in there are admittedly other people. Who've had worse things one more about frank and then we'll take it to the break but let me ask you this. If chiefs are playing this with the patient approach which we saw them do with Is it possible that this whole season comes and goes like we're talking about is franken time but could frank start twenty games this year before we even know the outcome of this process. Oh absolutely. I think it's actually probably more likely well. None of this actually affects this season at all. Okay really all of our all of my chicken literally. sky is falling. the sky is falling. Maybe for not with ellen go ahead. i definitely think that you know the reality. Is you know frank clark. His first potential date is october. The chiefs aren't gonna do anything unless they have some hard proof I just don't see that it's being real one that they want to punish somebody with so the league wants to step in and say no more uzis when you're driving punish arm. I think franks plan the whole season. We'll roger roger goodell didn't announce that the you losey campaign so i'm a little bit nervous about that. We'll see how that works out. We're here with ellen mathis. We got a lot more to talk about after the break. I'll ask her a little bit about brett read. we'll talk. alex okafor play a little bit of. Would you rather. Because i just got off roach with my seven year old son..

"Welcome to another episode of cork chat with me. Jason zukas. we're going to catch up on everything. We're watching listening to an loving and morgan. Losey hit that court chat theme jason. It's been too long time for another coir chat. Yes yes yes. I mean i mean not even much of a core anymore but nonetheless a chat. I love getting to talk to you and i love this part of the show now so i don't want to let it go but i know people are getting back into the swing of things and i don't know are people watching and and you know i guess like binging as much as they have been before where where are you following. Are you know what. Even though things have loosened up even though i'm vaccinated i'm still pretty conservative. I'm still not going out much. I'm still not doing you know the the most i'm doing is like walks and hikes with friends wearing masks so so i'm still i'll be honest crushing an insane amount of content like. I'm watching a lot of stuff and green and reading. I want to ask you very serious question about because very serious. Probably the most grave question serious car. Talk play this. Play the series choir talk music here. Yeah you and i are are men of a certain age. I have a real hard time. Like if i put on a movie or something to binge at night i will automatically collapse and fall asleep. I'm also getting up at six or seven every day so i i know that that plays. We are different in that sense. Okay so like you are probably wiped out by the end of the day. Yeah and because you're juggling your you're working right now. I believe right and right now. I'm i'm right now. I am back at home. black. Monday is over. So i okay but yes but it's still has been working these last bunch of months. You've got kids who are up early. You've gotta go go go. I am not so. I can sleep in and i can hang out and i can watch. I can watch a movie and then tv show afterwards and still be awake. See now if i was playing like My playstation no problem. I'll stay up until two in the morning. But the minute i put on a movie and becomes passive for me like i am. It's almost like my body is like being. Yeah let's go been playing video games. I'm not a video. Get much of a video game person at all anyway but video games. I have not been engaging with much at all. Besides red dead redemption to which. I played a lot early on in the pandemic. I've barely touched my any gaming. I've i'm almost all exclusively all in on like watching stuff and consuming stuff. Yeah you see. I have been incredibly focused on my nba two k. Like i'm very much like in that. Which is a nice. Like i can check in a game for fifteen minutes and then i'm done. I'm not doing nothing for a lot of time. I feel like just. I know this loosely. Yeah watching sports. We are watching basketball right. Nazis which up an enormous amount and now norm. Well okay so yes it has. It's every other day and it's been every other day for the last month or so. And i'm a fan of the clippers. By the time you hear this there will be yet another place in the world where they may or may not be. But it's been very exciting season for a team that i've been a big fan of. They never really had gotten this far. I've actually we talked about like bing conservative. I've been very conservative except for going to clippers games so much. So that i flew to phoenix. Arizona to go to a suns clippers game in a i flew i flew flew to arizona flew to arizona for a new active like like arizona arizona. Like to me i would be like. That's that seems dicey that seems i. you know. Look i will say everybody. Admitting arizona was absolutely phenomenal by will day to arizona arizona. I will say this wait. Who is arizona. Are they a good team or sons. the phoenix suns currently there in the western conference finals with them. And it's been an interesting battle still going as of this recording so we will see what i will say is after going to the staple center games here in los angeles where at points i was having. Show my vaccination card my idea. I brought gusts to one of the games and he needed to be tested before he went. And we're all in masks and you can have food in your seats and you know and you can't carry in a bag so it was very very you know as safe as you could possibly make everyone in masks. Nobody eating or drinking You know it was very safe. And then when i got to phoenix it was i mean. I didn't see a man. I didn't see a mask. And not that. I was like judging that but it was like a culture shock of. Oh okay this is a this is a different thing like we just opened up there. They are open for business. They have business. And when i also back to new york for a wedding so i have done a lot of traveling When it went back to new york for a wedding. I was checking my mom into a hotel. I was staying with my dad and And when my mom checked in the woman's at the counter said to her oh you're staying three nights You don't need to wear a mask in the hotel. And i couldn't put the logic of that one together but she said it was such like. Oh no no sincere here and it's not just here overnight. You can take off your mask. But i was like but i don't is that you don't understand the math of it. Yeah that's bizarre. Yeah i mean it really okay. So this is that makes me feel like people are just making up rules. They are just free styling making up rules because because we really are in this stage right now where we're transitioning out of the complete lockdown complete panic. We're transitioning into a forty..

What is that painstaking process of kind of piecing that back together. Do you even do that. What does that look like. And then tell us about the people who do that for a living and where they come from and what their skill sets are so certainly you know. We're all about the safety of our first responders of more we get into those render safe operations. But but you're right. We also help with post blast and it is ideal to to be able to take a device before it. It goes goes off as a bomb that many times. That's what we're left with so when we get on. Seeing those certified device examiners. Those evidence response technicians. They're looking at a variety of factors. They're conducting chemistry Examinations there's a myriad of disciplines that we would use on material that that's involved in that post blass effort would be made to to really preserve that as best as possible and do what needs to be done in the field as a priority. Maybe even to help with that immediate case support but then we we make every effort to get that in the best state back to the laboratory so that we can really get in there and do the real work on the benches so you asked about the are people like any other fbi division. Our people is what makes us. Great t dak as well as the rest of the laboratory Division which is in quantico is comprised of a variety of backgrounds educations and even special agents many professional staff thin elaborate lab division and even special agents come from stem backgrounds. They're going to gain experience working cases and maybe gained some specialty. Experience through collateral duties like special agent bomb tech or evidence response team members. And then after they have that kind of experience then those special agents after you know considerable amount of time in the field then they may advance promote to become one of those supervisory special agents here lad vision and really leverage field experience that they've got maybe a number of young people listening to us on this episode will at who may be fascinated by this work in are wondering what's What's what are the avenues. "To battle what's called terrorism you need to dismantle the command and control structure the command and control structure for what happened on january six may well be the orbit around trump and trump himself and if that means sitting members of congress. Need to be held accountable. They must be held accountable. That has to happen fast on the global front the hacks keep coming and look people say well. Russia always hacked us you. Yes indeed but there's been a shift. Brian from hacking government agencies like solar winds and the american public. Kind of shrugs. And now what's being hacked. Our food supply our fuel supply. Americans care about that and putin knows that and this arm's length distance of him that he has saying. This is an organized crime group. This isn't me. this isn't my intelligence service is nonsense. He enables them. He facilitates them. He may be joined at the hip with them and if so he's doing it to weaken and destabilize our country and to stabilize biden biden's got to deal with it head on. You're so right. Nothing happens there without his awareness of it if not permission to let it go Ashley i'm gonna play for you. Congressman adam kensinger. Who appeared on television. Tonight will discuss his remarks on the other side. He isn't stead obsessed with the fact that he lost again at something and instead of in his post-presidency taking on i don't know some that he cares about. Or or some thing that we see former presidents. Do he's down. They're obsessing about the fact that he's a loser. I'm sorry you're a loser but you lost so actually this gets us into the former president who you spent so many years covering up. I note that he's going back on the road this weekend. What is the strategy. Do you think i guess Down at mar-a-lago where i'm left to assume is chief domestic adviser. These days is a manufacturer of chopped foam rubber pillows there. There is no strategy. There is what some people around him would like to be a strategy which would be to have the former president play a productive in proactive role in helping republicans take back the house of the senate in the two thousand twenty two midterm elections. But anyone around him. No matter what topic they try to bring up no matter how they try to engage him for him. He brings everything back to the twenty twenty election that he lost. He repeats the. You know the so-called big lie now with new tweaks he is obsessed as we as others have reported in a recount. Our ballot audit going on County and arizona is now also similar obsessed with an effort going on in fulton county georgia and in this no matter what happened is what he just brings everything back to. And so for instance. His speech This weekend his team is trying to script a speech where he will do it to go. After biden do something that would be helpful to the republican party but they are simultaneously racy in for him to go on those trump engines for which he is so well known again likely. Criticizing fellow republicans in talking about the election that he lost. Hey erin listening to michael. Flynn and sydney powell. This past weekend they reminded us while perhaps not intentionally of why one six happened to in the first place in your reporting and the reporting on your website how much self awareness if any at all are you picking up from republicans. They launched this. I'm tempted to use the phrase. You break it you buy it but it could. It could in the end break them. Yeah and brian. This honestly to france point is y. You know this one. Six commission is so important. Because yes senator. Mcconnell said that You know everybody was there on january six and yet we do not have as a country a share said effects there is still a significant number of republicans who are are unclear about the origins or the cause of january six. Oh really a full airing of events From an objective panel that can review the events of that day report. The findings is really not so much for the folks who were in that building. It is for the american people who need that to be on the public record including suddenly the voters that i talk to including the black voters who are clear that the events of january six were about negating what they did on election day in twenty twenty as a legal and any potentially fraudulent. And every day that you see state legislatures kind of perpetuating These so-called laws that are in response to the threat to election integrity. The the insurrection continued. It is prolonged. And now you have the president getting ready to hit the campaign trail again for fomenting The so-called league lie. You know that that just really prolongs. The events of january six in a way that really requires a counter narrative that is objective and clear eyed and conclusive for. The american people so frankfort losey year former bureau. Though secret stuff all the time and no one here is trying to engender sympathy for journalists. Which is a good thing because we wouldn't get it any way. But what is your reaction when you read the latest Times reporting that the list is longer and broader than we first thought of reporters who had their phone records entered into by the trump doj. Here's the thing that your viewers should understand. Leak investigations occur all the time i. I've led many leak investigation. They're extremely difficult by the way to solve. The investigation is usually not about the reporter but rather who's leaking classified to them and we get that right we. We don't want top secret getting out unnecessarily but here's problem with what we're learning now is. Doj didn't even follow. Its own rules so these reporters are finding out about this now because doj violated their own regulations in terms of timeframe they're required to notify the reporter of what's happened that never happened under trump and there needs to be accountability for that. Whether it was william sessions or bill barr attorney general. They broke their own rules. They came perilously close to infringing on a free press.
