LeBron posts historic first half, questions future after Lakers eliminated
"LeBron James 20th NBA season came to an end after his Los Angeles Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Afterward, the NBA's all time leading scorer hinted he might be contemplating retirement. We see what happens going forward. But I don't know. I don't know. I got a lot to think about, to be honest. The 38 year old James had a personal playoff best with 31 of his team high 40 points in the first half. James is under contract for a $46.9 million next season with the Lakers. I'm geffen coolbaugh.

Morant game-time decision for Grizzlies in Game 2 vs. Lakers
"Memphis Grizzlies star John morant will be a game time decision when his team faces LeBron James Los Angeles Lakers in game two of their Western Conference first round series Wednesday. Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Tuesday that the two time all star point guard suffered no ligament damage to his right hand in an injury that occurred during Memphis's one 28 one 12 loss to the Lakers on Sunday. Morant scored 18 points in 30 minutes before exiting the game. He had an MRI on Monday that showed only bruising of the tissue between the bones as the fourth year guard aggravated an injury from April 7th. I'm guessing kuba.

Gobert took a swing at Anderson and hit him in the upper chest in the second quarter of Minnesota's game against New Orleans on Sunday when the flustered Timberwolves were trailing by 12 points. "Phoenix suns and other team. That's going to be up there. Like right off the bat. Because they added like javale mcgee landry shamet so like most of their course still intact so Do lakers are gonna have those tough games early on where they are going to be like struggling to figure themselves out where they stand in the pecking order because the west is going to be a monster like usually is. But i feel like if there's a team that's going to start picking things up as the season goes along going to be the lakers just because of all the new pieces coming in on the lakers. Coaching staff. Also completely new to david physicals coming in john. Lucas third is coming in You know line. Holland's left jason kidd left so there's a lot of movement within dot to try to get sorted out so things are going to have to like. I think we'll start figuring out who the lakers are like. Hopefully by christmas. That should give some you know a two months time in to like see where the lakers are standing compared to the other teams health is obviously may be the biggest part because of the lakers. As are they going to be durable Can they make it work. You know like there's not a lot of young legs on this team. How do they balance like rest and lower management and things like that when they get you know to the very tough parts because under the lakers have a pretty easy schedule like the first couple of months like they don't play as many top opponents being started take a turn like in march and as season goes on and they start to play like all the big teams More often so. If there's any time for the lakers to make mistakes is going to be early on just because of the teams are gonna to play like another play a lot of like the lower level teams early on in both conferences so work your struggles out then and be prepared because amnesties is not gonna be good would of course we never Injuries will turn out in like shape things as the season goes but just giving what we know on paper. The lakers are going to be the team. That as the season progresses hopefully the source things out and makes a late push And hopefully finishes like a top three seat. I least that's where. I kind of have them if everything works in their favor. Yeah i agree. The team definitely needs to finish app. Three and i think i would have them there right now but like you mentioned. It's i think the way that. I look at the lakers too so interesting. Because we're not the way i look at them just like in looking at them. It's interesting because like mentioned last year when the ryan ad went down or even when it was just. i mean like they both missed significant chunks. And there's a lot of inconsistency in the rosser That team is bad as the offense was. I think they were like bottom five in the league for like a fifteen game stretch. They were clear. Cut the number one defense in the league. They had that hang their hat on. I hate that issues that cliche statement. But i didn't have anything better but like you knew that. That was their blueprint. That's how they won game. this what they did. The team is so different compared. To how how that's looking we just don't really know what the identity of the team's going to be yet..

"Where he's not gonna create his own shot right now but he's going to give it his all on defense he's gonna go after the teams you know Motoring player and the knockdown his open catch to jump shots which he was doing with the summer league team But in terms of i in reeves do definitely both have a long way to go in terms of trying to make it stick especially given the competition that they're going to deal with with all the guards has yeah is really tough with the i do because he's really more of a small three and i was suddenly got very poorly for him Not expecting him to be a guy who thrived at some really either though because especially this looking at like. He's not a guy running second side actions like he's he's awesome cutter good shooter and that was really about it offensively and they does awesome stuff defensively so it. It sucks a little bit because party was like you were hoping he would look better at only but i'm also not like super surprised in the way that it worked out probably same a little bit higher on what he's gonna do for the lakers. This year then awesome us like i like ribs. A lot will like you mentioned. I think he has some things to work out with irony. His shot a little bit. I think it's better than than percentages like gate part of it's hard with summer league because of some small sample size. Obviously but you know. His numbers went down every single year. And the ncaa. But part of that is the shot. Difficulty was like absolutely insane was taking neglect. Close to sixty or seventy percent of his threes were soft created at oklahoma last year in. That team was just so devoid of talent was pretty much give awesome use the ball hope he gets fouled is just a trip to the line Well yeah. I'm hopeful that something will work out with the Because they kind need his size even if he's not like the greatest is like we've talked about this kind of like closer to like a little bit of two three. If you're playing in upsides downsides lineups that tracks so i think next area i want to go as we close opposing out. How are you feeling about this team. The regular season because especially looking at at how things are are balancing out we pull basketball reference really quick like i think.

"They hit their stride at the right time and start figuring things out like every team like kind of peaks early. I'm the kind of fall off the jazz. One of those teams last year. Last year was another one of those weird years affected by kobe. And everything like the lakers are going to be one of those teams rusty at the end given all the new. Acquisitions t. h. T. james and a d. Or the only returners last year. Everybody else rondo in howard have experienced but everybody else's brand new so like the first couple of months gonna be rusty An-and as he goes along you'll find out like who the best lineups are vogel's playing more often. Who's you know. sticking out. In like cleaning the glass the metrics they use those usually are good indicators of who's playing well together and just giving what we know. The five that i mentioned are like the best five If monk in t you know grow you can bump mortar the three james ad at the five. Maybe like one of monk orgy. Ht's sticks at the two If none comes long given how much money they're paying monday. Give them the full taxpayer. Emily you hope that he can make strides on defense in the guy that can play at too because you mentioned he did grow as an off ball player with miami and he's supposed to have more on ball duties here with the lakers As a guy that can relieve us and stuff like that so the lakers definitely have options. That is a good thing It's just who's going to beat each other out. That's going to be the biggest thing going forward. Yeah definitely and i mean that adds on to other guys will wanna talk about really poke as well because I mean looking at the way that the lakers handlers draft. I actually liked it personally They definitely want more of a win. Now approach which you should be doing especially in your business situation. Drafting july in picking up austin reviews on both are onto waste but austin was knowing ossuaries was drafted. They're actually they were both. They were both picked up after my bed. They both should have been drafted but the way that it's finishing out the second works out. Reeves was fantastic summer league. You really struggled which we can get into a little bit. But how how did you feel about them. Because i think they're also very interesting to look at. Because i think a way that the lakers went And pick them up. It was not in terms of like..

"Were used like heating those game winning shots and everything And he had some big games against the brooklyn nets later in the year. If there's he has all the physical put it together. I just don't know what expectations. I set out for him right now. Just because he's in giving the lakers roster as a whole i just don't know where he bits in the equation yet either like he should be above some of the other guys rotation just given them out of money lakers paid him But that three point shot has to come along. Twenty eight percent on volume doesn't cut it especially considering russell westbrook coming into the equation And that off. Ball defense we. I like he's mentioned. It was pretty horrendous last year. That hopefully starts to improve solely on ball. He has the tools to be. you know. virtually unbeatable. Because you six four six. Five combo guard Wingspan like a menace. Big hands too. So if you can put it all together like he'll need to do it slowly kinda like in the way Like every year he gradually picked up the pieces but if he was kind of. Hoarding tucker has more potential than him he can. He can really get to the rim whenever he wants. He just makes things harder than it needs to be And he'll still finish anyways. Which is pretty ridiculous. But that it's just really weird. Because he has. The talent is like not really a question. He got slimmer during the offseason to like is very noticeable especially during like the recent Workout video that He's been playing like the dream. Bill chicago league definitely notably Getting more three point shots looking more comfortable to it just a matter of putting it into the court because we always like you know aussies in videos elect players shooting three pointers. Never do it in the regular season but hoarding tucker is going to start shooting a little bit more from three point range. I know he's been looking to get like the mid range shot going.

"It really depends on where you go. I know like just recently. Report came out that like rich. Paul was telling agents chicago. Combine that ad james. Slide up position. I don't know if that there wasn't any details if he meant in the starting lineup. Because if you start those two than you have way more options to in the three To go with because what is going to be the guy at the one But let's say that it is russ the gap at two. Did james davis john jordan. Then you have to get somebody that can beat that glue guide to like be who can have responsibilities as at three on both ends in bays. Moore's one that fits because if you put wayne ellington there He's he was like a forty two percent viewpoint. Shoot on six attempts last year with detroit. he's your best three-point option but bays more can still do it at you know at a forty percent clip last volume. But he gives you that better defensive production six four but he has like a seven foot wingspan in that you can saw anywhere Unabated one can play the two to three. He had some like ball handling duties when he was kings. Two years ago So you can. You can like give him some stuff with that but in in terms of the other guys. 'cause like the lakers pretty heavy now You know is not gonna start. I don't see none as a starter but they paid him the most money out of any like you know new lakers. So he's going to get minutes. I don't see it as a starting option You can make the case for a monk. But the thing is he's not there defensively just yet And he could just be that spark energy score off the bench. We just don't know yet. There's just so many kings the will will have to work out just because there's so many guards by based more out of all the options is the guy that stands out the most because of that to a of talent. Yeah definitely. I agree and he had a really good year with the warriors as well. He's sneakily still been a very good rotation player Portland he wasn't as good but also like they asked them to do way. Too much in portland so i don't really blame him But yeah i agree. I feel like at least to start the year. I wouldn't be shocked if he's starting or i beat kind of fact if he wasn't starting would be a better way to put it But you brought up monk. He's so interesting. Because i do think i actually like him. A lot. rotationally on defense. I think point of attacking us to get a lot better especially part of its size needs. Get better and screen. Nap to But he does make good. Plays off the ball which i like But it's interesting. Because like i think this team they don't have same too many ball handling would be the wrong way to put it like halen. Horton tucker is better with the ball in his hands. Elite monk is better with the ball on his hands. And ideally has bonus to i envisioned him as being the guy who is. You're you're hoping is creating some some shots for you with the bench or in bench lineups. In general and kendrick nunn was able to play a bit more off. Ball when Us with miami. But figuring that i was going to be important especially playing alongside ross and lebron. Lebron can let guys book a little bit like we've seen that But it's interesting thing. Colorado fits into like white permission..

"A lot of a lot of the time like he does tend to get injured often This year especially the lakers. Don't have that guy. That can space before with davis the same time like that. Center like marcus. Old is gone. You brought in dwight howard in gandara jordan but both are going to be in the same roses. Howard jill mcgee played from nineteen twenty which should be fine but you know. In the case davis gets injured. There is no guy in the front court that you can really rely on to bring that type of production Trevor reason anthony are going to be big guys to play Minutes before but again you know they're tailing off towards the end of their clears. Anthony thirty seven. He's not a defensive guy anymore. He's just strictly mainly shooter. Now are catching shoot shooter. That is He can't know he's not as athletic when he's guarding smaller guys anymore. You can only guard big guys not that great from the three point line anymore either. So davis he's going to be guy if he can stay healthy He's to proved that or he doesn't leading to prove because he's done a lot but he needs to show again bounced back from last year. Defensive force on the defense is going to take a little bit of a hit because guys casey p. a. coups improved in that role last year. Caruso is gone. so you're losing these guys that kind of helped fortify the limiter so when a de- gets challenged you know there's going to be challenges now for eighty to like help. Weakside help the guards that are not as strong defensively in the perimeter On data and so davis is going to be that key piece because he's the strongest in the front court and the lakers. They prove that you can still win with a big team In davis is going to have to be that guy again this year and beyond that deep level that he was years ago. Yeah no i totally agree especially looking defensively Like you can. You can definitely see the blueprint of what this team wants. Two years ago but then again i would also bring to like Dwight has taken a noticeable step back from when he was then and that's not even to be rude like he was still a fine rotation player last year but in the playoffs he was borderline unplayable which is different from where he was in in the bubble. Run the andre jordan. I'm not sure what to make of the andrea. Like i think you'll be okay in a smaller starting role. I'm excited. Imagine he'll start center depending on how things go. But i think we look at it in the same lens of like okay. It's an innings eating bigs who just give you more versatility and allow you to play bigger. Give you the optionality. Go smaller when When eighty comes on at five. And i would also say to you like just the anyone who does have concerns in the front court like this team is almost definitely going to get the best biopic you becomes available where i should say definitely will like. They're going to be in the running for two or three best guys. You get bought out so i'm not as worried about that. But like you're mentioning. A watt really hinges on. What happens with a d I think where some other stuff becomes a little bit..

"Lakers did a good job of bringing in you know shooters for on the fly in like maleek monk in kate bays more in wayne ellington. Those guys that should help westbrook. James davis accomplish the spacing the spacing woes. I know markle leaving. Kinda messes up but westbrook if things work out especially with that. Big contract is showed or needs to workout. I think everything should mesh. And i think in the end. If you know if this is the year for the lakers the the roster is completely different compared to every other teams left. We definitely have to figure that out. But i'm looking forward to the whole trio getting onto the court working out. You know the wrinkles and then see how things go play playoffs. Yeah i think the biggest thing that pops off from your especially just honing in on russ like you mentioned i think. That's what is most intriguing about this coming season because in okay see you as always In terms of usage and and ball handling he was the guy i mean. Obviously you have k. d. but like the guy running offense was russ. I don't know if that'll be entirely different in. La like i think the ideas okay. Well maybe running more of the offense but cutting out some of the shots he tends to take but at the same time like russ's i think what thirty two thirty three now So it's just like it's a big ask. Is this going to happen. You magically going to become this fantastic cutter. She has the physical pools to do as the court vision. And do it Just does it happen. Same thing defensively. Like we know he can handle stuff if he's playing at the point of attack he's fine but if the screen or You know what is he doing off ball like they're just the questions that come into it but i also think you look at it and i don't know what i wasn't as in tune with what general consensus was on the happened. I think i've been more in lockstep more..

"It is Friday. But I'm going to talk about that in just a minute. Exactly why we're going live on a Friday slight date change we're going to have for the next few weeks. But a lot to talk about today, the Lakers made a trade. Marc Gasol shipped out sent to the Memphis Grizzlies, no longer a Laker. We're gonna talk about what that means how the deal went down. Why it structured the way it is, we'll talk a little bit about the open roster spot as well that has now created. That's right, another open roster spot. That means there is another move coming. So we'll break that down plus we'll talk about the rotation. What's going to happen from here in terms of the starting lineup with no mark Gasol? Lot to dive into tonight. So if you're coming in from YouTube from Facebook from periscope, welcome in and of course, if you're listening to the podcast version of this, make sure you do subscribe follow us on Spotify on Apple podcasts, wherever it is that you listen to a podcast. I'm already seeing the questions coming in from YouTube. Looks like I'm seeing some from Twitter as well. I always say periscope, but it's Twitter now. And from Facebook, oh, and somebody said NBA front office is fired. Thank you. Really appreciate it that you guys would give us those kind words Keith and I have been working really hard on the NBA front office show. And if you saw earlier today, Keith and I did a live stream for the NBA front office show to celebrate 10,000 subscribers over on YouTube, which is phenomenal. We are so thrilled, especially given that we just started up that channel. But tonight, tonight we're talking Lakers and again, normally we don't do Friday night shows, but here's the thing. There's a little something that's come back called the NFL and we haven't run into this before, where we've had the NBA off season going on at the same time as the NFL. And so with the big game happening last night between the cowboys and the Buccaneers decided that we would slide back one day and for the next few weeks until the preseason starts and that's when the show converts back into a postgame show..

Because the veteran lakers about to get even more veteran e big men de'andre jordan intends to sign with the lakers after being traded and then bought out by the distance jordan would be the tenth laker h thirty two or older and six of those guys thirty five plus nick jordan on the same team. Never thought i'd see the day Do you like the lakers bringing in deandra jordan. Nice good line janna listen. We're still getting the edible arrangements in the sheri's berries my for apologies that were from the audience last week. But you can feel free to send more to me. And by the way if you're feeling generous include kenny atkinson who lost his job arguably because he saw what i saw in fall which is de'andre jordan's not great at the old basketball anymore and now the nets finally admitted as they say. Hey you can have deandre jordan in detroit says no. We don't want them feel like what did we include six million dollars. They're like us. Don't want what we include for. Second round picks like okay. We'll take him and then we'll ask him to leave and now the legs are gonna take them. So i i understand that folks probably expect me to say well with lebron on it. He'll be different exam while. I do believe that braun has the ability to get the most out of any and all teammates. He's played with for now. Eighteen plus years. There has to be something to be gotten and driving. This moves. the needle for the lakers. No

Los Angeles Lakers Could Fill out Roster With DeAndre Jordan
"Just give us a little on. What you think's going to happen with andre jordan was traded to the pistons. Everybody's yeah he's going to be out and that means he's going to be the next guy that the lakers will go get what do you say i think he is I think they're the most likely team to get him But there's just. I never say never with bio guys even because this is kind of been the rumor for three or four weeks at this point That this happened in brooklyn and it was just a matter of were they going to do the bio for him was he going to have to be traded. I if it say brooklyn a whole lot of money the fact that they they just save millions of dollars on their luxury tax bill by doing it this way. Also nicer de'andre like deandra got that because he was part of the kevin durant kyrie irving initial big three in in brooklyn and he was just. He's friends with all those guys. They played on team usa together and he was essential for them in signing with the nets. A little while back and it was a him signing that he gets paid twenty million a year that is not his market value. They overpaid for him. In the beginning as part of a like a sign let sign kevin durant and kyrie irving and it was you know finally worked out that way but at some point you make so much money and your they have a lot of guys at that position but they you know straight into detroit. They they They're going to do a buy out. He's going to give back a little bit of money. Detroit gets four second round out of it so they get something And also some other some other complicated salary cap things but we all thought lamarcus aldridge was going to miami. Last year on the market he ended up going to brooklyn so until he clears. Waivers and intel other teams have a chance to approach the andre. I wouldn't i wouldn't say it's likely or expected or anything like that. I would use much more. Vague words. you know. He fits with the lakers. He would fit in that role. I think would have a pretty well defined role and if you're on the buyout market and you're gonna sign for minimum like that's what you're looking for is someplace you can play.

"Season with the Los Angeles Lakers had a lot to do with him, you know? Without mentioning names, there was a report saying that he was a bit selfish and that he was a bit of a locker room problem in that. Come on, man. LeBron, you all know, we know LeBron runs that camp, Ron and AD, that's their basketball game. I was thinking that I can't see an ancillary player coming in and being that disruptive to the Lakers system. I mean, come on, they can still try to sell me that would be the goods. I mean, you lost your team beat you, beat your ass, and now all of a sudden you're trying to kick shriller into the bus as if he was that piece. They did not have jump shooters. There were a lot of guys. There were a lot of times we saw LeBron James not getting back on the defensive end, or we would call Anthony Davis. I love Charles Barkley's name street clothes. You know, he wasn't available to play. So that's just not blame. That is true therefore all that. Agreed. Agreed. And even if there's a little truth to that, I'm gonna go with a guy who wants to prove to the entire NBA that he's a max guy. Give me that guy, and then on top of that, the guy who used to idolize ray.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers to Highlight NBA's Christmas Day Schedule
"A report that Christmas Day is gonna be. It's gonna happen at December. 25th like every year Lakers nets? Yeah. One thought on that game. NBA Got it right. I mean, all the games. You got. Bucks versus the Celtics. You've got Golden State versus Phoenix. You've got the Knicks versus the land and the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers are the highlight game in the middle of that schedule. They very rarely get Christmas Day games wrong. When it comes to the NBA did very really get that wrong because even late at night, you may not be interesting those teams, but you're going to pay attention because nothing is going to be on. They're not trying to combat the National Football League on Christmas Day, but the N B A. They usually get it right on Christmas Day, And once again, they knocked it out of the

Los Angeles Lakers Pair LeBron and Russ. Will It Work?
"I wanted to zoom out and go over the big picture landscape with someone who talks on our airwaves every day about the nba. Dhs is favourite league. I think the one. And only the greatest showman in show business and tv for espn stephen smith. Our you sub man. How you doing man glad to finally be here. I'm thrilled to make it happen. You are out in la. So let's start there you talked. I was listening to you on. I take a few days ago. Talking about russell. Westbrook in the amount of pressure that's on russell westbrook. But tell me about you know how. How do you think he fits. Lebron how what are you looking for him. How does he have to changes game or does he have to change his game. Well listen. I think i think both have to modify to some degree. Lebron can't be as ball dominant as as he has been off making all the decisions. Because that's one of the reasons rusting wanna be in houston anymore as you. Well know Because he didn't want to be you know sitting on the sidelines. Playing the role of spectator being on the plane and roller spectator watching james audit. Well that's not gonna change lebron james. He's happy to be back home. He's happy to be la. He's happy to be on a title contender which he is on. We get all of that But in the end he still russell westbrook in you know credit to him. You know like. I told you we've had to be. We've all had to be critical of him at times. What we know that. He's an electrifying talent. The most athletic point guard we've ever seen in nba history. We know he's a walk in triple double and we also know. He never cheat to game with his effort when he's out on a court it's always one hundred percent and so when you look at the slow. Almost snail like pace that the lakers could could. Could you know what wouldn't prone to plan towards playing at at tom's in the past and now you've got somebody like russell westbrook all of a sudden and lebron having a night off. Ad having a night off isn't as daunting as it was the previous two years. I think that helps them during the regular season. And then i think once the postseason comes whatever it takes to win is what i think the character in russell westbrook and lebron james will do.

Los Angeles Lakers Extend Qualifying Offer to Guard Talen Horton-Tucker

He's not going anywhere unless the lakers want him to correct in other words any offer that he gets. And you're going to be reading in the next few days about how he can get a poison pill offer. That's very backloaded. And you're gonna be reading about this but the bottom line is the thing to remember is the lakers have to match any offer if they want to so he will not be on another team next year unless the lakers want him to walk away. The lakers the option to sign him to match. Any offer gets on the

"To win. That first playing game. In part because, ironically I think it would have been more fair to the Phoenix Suns. Maybe not to the Los Angeles Lakers. But the real, you know LeBron's. Whoever did this plane should be fired the real team that has been punished by the play in tournament the only team that's been punished, thought the Warriors beat the Grizzlies. The Phoenix Suns. That was going to be true with healthy. Chris. Paul 1%. Chris Paul, This baby was gonna be a battle, but people were going to see what I've seen this year. People who don't want songs, games people that aren't in Phoenix. DeAndre Aiden didn't have. I saw it from so many people, and I got frustrated from Game one, Do you, Audrey, eight and talking to have that kind of game again. Oh, yeah, It's a great call, unless that's the player that he's become, and Chris Paul's arrival. You don't know what you're talking about. DeAndre is a really good player, and this is not me, but I've been saying it on the radio. Someone that that is, um 100% as it relates to the information they've give me over the years told me DeAndre. Aiden is going to thrive first two very simple reasons. Three reasons. He's further in his career, and he said, this sort of a breakout time when guys do that. Chris Paul is gonna take massive pressure off of him publicly, if not privately, Because now the underrated becomes the third when you're the third most important guy, By the way, you can also be the fifth most important guy on any given night when you're the second most important guy, Anthony Davis, you get blamed period. You're blamed if things go badly, totally different deal. And the third thing was that he was going to get easy buckets in the pick and roll from Chris Paul. He was one of all kinds of opportunities, the pressure and the need to double team guys like either Devin Booker or get up on Chris Paul wasn't create even easier looks for him and the chaos created by the offense with sons. It was explained to me was just going to me to be easier for him to rebound, and so getting some touches getting his hand on the ball. Getting some easy buckets was gonna instill this do with some confidence and you've seen it. You see, the Devin Booker is a breakout superstar. Except he broke out a long time ago. Nobody was paying attention. Or at least not enough because you know what you have Chris Paul Money. Williams is the right fit for that for that team and with the team we saw in the bubble last year played great. Was at least the second best team. In the Western Conference. I said three yesterday, I lied because the Clippers snuck in there. There are four teams. That In the top 10 in offense and defense over the regular season, which I say again and again and again, because I think it's important, instructive for your gambling and just for your knowledge has been historically an absolute marker of who's going to win an NBA championship. And by the way you look at some of those Cleveland Cavaliers teams with LeBron you look at the warrior seems that didn't win. There's a lot of reason they didn't win. They always fell out of the top. 10 in one of those categories usually usually was defense. Sons to both. You can't win an NBA championship if your best player can't play. And I don't know what it is with Chris Paul and I say the word karma with no with no pleasure. I don't I love is bad luck. I love its karma. Don't know if Chris Paul as a smaller guard who has pushed himself beyond the age where you're supposed to be able to be durable, which is 32, but it feels like time as in space as it relates to professional athlete. That's all been bent and warped, right, but still Maybe he just goes so hard core in the regular season that his body gives out. I don't I don't know why. But I've seen this movie before, and I know how it ends. It is a love story that ends is a horror film. Or anyone rooting for Chris Paul story, and it sucks. And it doesn't feel fair. But it is one of the seven minutes in the second half, and that was a mercy. Because the guy at least right now that shoulder can't play can't move can accelerate can handle the ball? Can't shoot. Can't be Chris Paul and the sons cannot win the series without on them, By the way, they could have won that game last night. Have a chance to win that game last night. What happened is what's going to happen if you don't have Chris Paul, by the way, might still happen if you have Chris Paul, but here's what's gonna happen Certainly without him. In song vs Lakers. We should be Western Conference Finals showdown Or maybe a semi finals that decides who comes out of the West. Here's what's gonna happen. Wanted to two things are gonna happen. One LeBron James is gonna be great. Regardless of the rest of his night is going to put pressure on you, and often when the game and he saw that the guy had a fadeaway jumper that was insane, and a three point shot. We're 80 kind of set a pick on the left side in the corner. But LeBron was basically was basically inclined angle that was utterly and totally ridiculous. Ridiculous And the second thing that's gonna happen is that you're gonna have trouble scoring in counterpunching there because it feels different. If you were watching the game, you felt that it felt different. Last For me. It's when the three minute mark Rolls over. You know, Theo under three minutes, So when it says two and change on the clock, you can feel the energy shift and feeling in your living room. I promise you back in the day and they're coming back Or you can go to these games. You certainly feel it 100% feel it. In person and the players felt it. And there were some bad shots out there. Devin Booker couldn't score. And some of the guys around him who had had really, really big games throughout. That it was a battle. I mean, the sun's got down and came back couldn't get it done. Jae Crowder is a tough, tough dude, but he's not gonna He's not the star of the game. Cameron pain hit some huge shots. Not At the end and enforced one in particular. Have to have Chris Paul. You have to have your closer You have to have Devin Booker be the most. Talented guy on the Suns. He's not the most important you have to have DeAndre eight and beyond the floor in a situation where the limelight snot on him, and therefore he could handle he can handle the way to the moment of the moment. Shift to him without Chris Paul. The sons can't win this series. And that's not fair. Son did everything right. They brought in the right guy. Chris Paul did everything right and one of the most mercurial personalities and remarkable talents of the point guard position. The history the MBA is not going to get an NBA championship in his career, at least Not one where he's a focal point. Maybe he'll be a hang around with LeBron team at some point, but not one that deep down he knows he earned. Because life's unfair man and that's the way it goes sometimes, and that totally sucks. And by the way, in the end to it's unfair for a lot of people. Going back generations, couple generations. And you can ask Don't exist anymore. But SuperSonics fans, You can ask Utah fans, you.

NBA Playoffs: Phoenix Suns Beat Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1

Someone from l. a. No two sons one game one. Let's get someone from phoenix. The first person. I thought it was the one and only eddie johnson. How are you sir day. I mean that's not being in the playoffs the so long. I can't even remember zach and i wake up this morning and we're gonna win the series. They can't be any better than this house. The arena. You know what i watch it on. Tv to be quite honest with you. I work i work so much is like when i get an opportunity to just listen to somebody else. Do a gain the replays. And everything i just feel like you know is so much more up close and personal for me but when i heard about buddies told me said it was just unreal eighteen thousand although they listed there's about ten six but it seemed like it was eighteen thousand so it was packed. Ready and people were partying outside so fun. Time right now saying we haven't experienced this long time. So we had a kerfuffle and ejection. Chris paul hurting his shoulder and and using a jump shot form. That was clearly not his normal form will have to monitor that going forward so it was an eventful game. The sun's sort of told the world. Hey we're here drayton. i'm here. i'm the. I'm the biggest guy in the floor. Andre drummond bigger than me. But i'm gonna play like the big sky devon booker. i'm ready you're gonna have to double me straight up hard double me like luka doncic. What surprised you about game one. What was something that stood out that maybe you didn't expect surprise me about the suns team. This is a team that i've been seeing all year long. I've been trying to convince the on. Los Angeles Lakers Suffer Disastrous Loss to Sacramento Kings
"An unbelievably bad performance by the Lakers and a game in which the kings were missing some of their better players, including de'aaron Fox and the Lakers just kind of did what they've done. All season long and turned the ball over too much and just flat-out miss open shots. And we saw that happen time and time again. Let's get into the stands real quick before I start taking your questions and comments here. So the Kings shoot, 45% from the field, not great. But they shot 36% from 3 and ninety percent from the line. That makes a difference compared to a Lakers team who shot 51% from the field and 25% from 3 and 71% for the line. If you can't shoot, you can't win really tough to win games when you can't put the ball in the basket. Again at The Rim, okay? 51% off. You can't hit 3s in the modern NBA. You're in big big trouble in the Lakers again, 25%. That's the game. That's the game right there. If you shoot league-average, even just league-average from 3, you win this game by a margin but instead, the Lakers are missing a lot of their three-point attempts tonight. And then the turnovers 21, turnovers for the Lakers. Again, cannot do that, that's a problem. They've had most of the Season. At one point, the worst team in the NBA when it came to turnovers. Haven't checked it recently, but they are still up there. They've been really, really bad. Turning the ball over for most of the season. They did get better for a little bit there. They got a little bit better. Dead shooter was starting to rain things in a little bit it wasn't being an Optima optimistic password so much tonight that was not the case. They completely regressed in the turnover Department. It got really bad there and then the other piece to this the offensive rebounds 11:00 to 11:00. 11:00 offensive boards for the Lakers 11 offensive boards for the Kings. You can't do that. If you are having a front line that has Andre Drummond and Anthony Davis on it. Plus LeBron James, you have to absolutely dominate unquestionably down, Nate the glass,

Los Angeles Lakers Defeat Orlando Magic to Pick up Much-Needed Win
"Talk about the Lakers getting this win, over the Orlando Magic. We're going to dive into it here. You know, it's a 114-2103 win but this game was a lot closer through most of it than we were comfortable with. I mean the Lakers won the fourth quarter, 35 223 off but up until that point, the magic actually took the lead in the second the Lakers lost the second quarter 4222 It was ugly, it looked like there were in full control. They're up by 12 coming out of the first quarter and then they kind of took their foot off the gas. Pedal in Orlando, surged, they got things moving forward on Thursday and this is the danger. This is the danger. When you're playing up against a bad team when you're playing them and you'll get out to an early lead and then you take your foot off the gas pedal suddenly that team comes up and they get confidence, you get a bad team, suddenly having these visions of putting together their best win of the season, their biggest win of the season if you take down the reigning defending 17 time a champions That is very much a landmark night for an Orlando Magic team that is tanking. Not only are they taking but they're also missing a ton of players due to injury their coaches and even their home because of covet. Don't have their coach and they're missing all these players and you suddenly give a team like that hope. When you come out in the second quarter of the way the Lakers did and that certainly made people a little bit uneasy, and I will say now he's asking Ron government. That's right. "Playing when his Achilles is burning when it feels strained when he needs additional treatments, he says, I and he made me five treatments a day. I have to sleep in a rap to expand my calf muscle. I need to go ahead and wear a left. And my shoe so my heel can help keep it stretched down Now I don't have a smudge pressure on it. Why is he playing in February? Why is he playing when the Lakers will also have additional time off? Maybe not in the case of Anthony Davis or LeBron, but if he's hurt, they were injured. You're not going to participate in all star. Everybody is primarily gonna have a week off anyway. What's the rush? So when I look at the Los Angeles Lakers, this literally Has to be one of the dumbest and ridiculous things that I've seen recently as relates to a player. Their injury and trying to rush to come back. You know, I can look at Kevin Durant. Two years ago and say in the summertime against the Raptors that this man was already injured. And he rushed his best to come back and compete. It was admirable to a certain degree understanding what it might mean to his career, but more importantly, what it meant right at that moment to the team and to himself. And he went out there. He did not have to. And unfortunately you know what he did Blow his Achilles. He was out. He didn't miss an entire year an entire season. And right now, for a couple of days, he's not out due to covert issues. He's out with a pulled hamstring and we only hope that the time off doesn't eventually catch up with him. So for the Los Angeles Lakers, I'm a little shocked. I'm not concerned with the Lakers Long term This is the only thing that can slow down the Lakers from going back to the finals. This is the only thing that will keep the Lakers from competing for another championship that will stop them from going back to back. And that's injuries. We know LeBron James is a marvel at 36 years old. We will all assume based on recent history that he's not just going to wake up one day and his powers that they will be gone. It's also not a given that one day he doesn't take a misstep that someone doesn't run into him. Or that he also doesn't have something happen. Knock on wood. We don't expect that based on his history. But injuries is the only thing that can stop the Lakers for moving on, and I'll tell you this much. I expect them to be back in at minimum, the Western Conference finals unless they make another ridiculous decision. Like rushing out in injured not even hurt, but uninjured. Anthony Davis. Besides that, I have no concerns with the Lakers competing for another championship. Thank you for finally being smart, but it shouldn't have taken Anthony Davis, further injuring his Achilles for you to say, Yeah. Forget a week or a couple of days. Let's sit him out for a few weeks. I'm gonna open up the phone lines to you right now. That's 855 to 1 to four. CBS That's 855 to 1 to four. CBS. Do you have any concerns as it relates to the Los Angeles Lakers? Do you see them as being still ah, viable competitors to win the NBA championship? I got no problems with him. The only thing stopping the Lakers from from fighting for another championship is injuries. What are your thoughts? 855 to 1 to four..

To this point, the Los Angeles Lakers Lakers will inbound off the errant pass by Denver and Quinn. Click will triple it out Horn sounds, and this is a final of the Staples Center. You come off that trip, five to come home and their defense in the second half was stifling.
