"May be the Octoberfest Los Angeles Dodgers are in town for three. And then Pittsburgh here Washington here Then they play the White Sox for a couple games that may not matter in Chicago, the White Sox and then they go to Pittsburgh for those last three, So we'll see what happens there. Lastly, you C bear cat football. I'm listening to the game. Of course, I think the halftime score was like 7 to 7. And I can tell that Dan was concerned and the second half they blew them out. And then they dropped to one place in the standings, which they did last year to you might recall the bear count football team kept winning, and they kept dropping because they didn't want. They didn't want him in the playoffs. And so it looking just to score itself. It was a blowout. What was that? Like 38 to 7 or something? Uh, maybe 42 to 7. Whatever it was, I was a blowout with the national writers knocked him down a notch. Why? Because they weren't that impressive against an FCS squad. Iowa be a state and Iowa state team that's really good. Oregon went on the road and beat Ohio State in Columbus. When you when you when you have those things happen to you, and you struggle against an FCS opponent, you're going to get jumped. I don't have a problem with that. I will be the Iowa State, a team that was in the top 10, Oregon. Heart beat Ohio State, which hadn't lost at home since I believe 2000 and 17, Oklahoma one. So the teams in front of Cincinnati, perhaps with the exception of Clinton, although Clemson's one loss was to a team that's currently ranks second, Um I don't have a major issue with where they're placed. The reality, though, is this They're going to be judged by how they do in their next two games from a national perspective because I believe they're going to be favored to win every game In the American Athletic Conference, Indiana lost their first game of the season to Iowa. I was ranked in the top five Hoosiers bounce back and played very well. On Saturday night. I subscribe to the belief that Michael Penance junior quarterback is not going to play as poorly against Iowa or against Cincinnati, as he did against Iowa that is going to be a road game against a big, tough opponent that was nationally ranked before the season. Started after that. They're going to go to Notre Dame. The Irish haven't been great. In fact, they felt forced box in the top 25 despite winning on on Saturday, But they needed a touchdown from Covington, Catholics, Michel mayor and the final two minutes to be Toledo. They nearly blew an 18 point lead against Florida State. If the bear cats can go to Bloomington, Indiana, if they can go to South Bend and beat Notre Dame Um, all the credit in the world that should be thrown at this team from national outlets will be thrown at this team. This is a chance if you have long complained about how the bear catch are treated nationally there in the noon window. I believe on ESPN on Saturday and they're going to be playing in South Bend on ABC two weeks from Saturday. Here's their opportunity. And if as a top 10 team they can win those two games, people are going to start talking about them being the legitimate college football playoff contender, But they haven't played a full 60 minutes yet. They took their foot off the gas against Miami in the second half of Game one, Uh, they were sleepwalking. I think, for the most part for the 1st 30 minutes against Murray State. They've got to play a full 30 minutes. The good news is I love the talent on this team, but it looks like a will have his team's ready to play. But, you know, getting back to the Original question. Look at who they look at who they played. Look at who they beat. Look at the way they played and then look at the teams that jumped him in the rankings. I can totally understand why the Barakat fell. One thought FC winds to zip doesn't matter. Got to get matters much for the purposes of getting to the postseason. It was nice. This was probably their best chance, and one might say their last chance to finally win a home game franchise. Will you and I have talked about it. I think in many respects is kind of at a bit of a crossroads right now, in terms of where people are with it, and, you know, look when they were when they burst on the scene in 2016. Much of the conversation about that franchise was not what was happening on the field, but interest attendance where they are in the marketplace. Well, we still have to have those conversations, the marketplace has shifted. The Cincinnati Bengals appear to be on the come. Cincinnati Reds are not losing 95 games every single year. You see football's a bona fide, uh, entity, which in 2016 whenever the Cincinnati debuted, Tommy Tuberville was crashing it into a mountain. Farm. It's a new stadium. I know they're not raising ticket prices for season ticket holders next year, but the buzz that sort of envelope this town when that franchise first burst onto the scene has gone away almost entirely. And the only way they're going to regenerate. It is to win, winning and winning consistently, and I don't know how they do that with the way they're being run right now, because the track record of the people who run FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer is not good by winning their game the other night we gotta run, but you had a chance to sign Messi. And maybe Ronaldo, and they didn't get it done. But no, we got to go and we'll talk later as events unfold. Thank you for coming on the on the Bill Cunningham show. Thank you. One more home Stand, Willy. Well, I will be there. Tell you wrong? Yes, I will. You want to back me up? You're going to be like all of your politics. Buddies that make these empty promises. You're not going to show up. I will be there, Mo. I will be there. Thank you, Mom. Believe.

"When the Los Angeles Dodgers win the world Serious Republicans win the White House. According to pollster Frank When is the World Series? It's on right now. Maya, you're paying in the attention. Yes, I'm going to say Dodgers won the World Series last night's early. That's why Frank wants is saying, What do you think I've got? To be honest, I didn't know that. You know what else? I didn't realize there was a Monday night football game. I was watching other. I had no idea. I didn't know there was a Monday night football games like on a Tuesday and read the score. I don't even remember. Was it the Giants that played in the Monday night game? We don't even know this is not incredible years ago Monday night football that would have been appointment television for me. And I didn't even remember that they were playing next Monday nights of the Buccaneers A can't Tampa Bay Buccaneers who they playing You don't even alright. Well anyway, what's interesting about this once business Is it once oven out there, saying that Trump don't have a prayer that if his business and his industry the polling industry if they get it wrong this time again, If they blow it like they blow it in 2016. They may as well shut down. Now here comes lunch, saying when the Dodgers win the World Series, Republicans win the White House. I have to tell you. I didn't even know. I mean, I know the world Series was never going to play it and play the Texas but I didn't know when it was on. I'm sorry to admit it, but I didn't know I guess you won't know until a flare. The test positive for Cove it then everybody knows what's AH! What's going on. Republican pollster Frank Lunch Colfax business mornings with Maria that 81% of Trump supporters believe their candidate will win. I know that Frank Lunch doesn't think much of Trump supporters. He doesn't like him lunches. Ah, inside the Beltway kind of guy. That's that's where his business is focused. That's always clients are and so this whole, you know, trump winning and it's kind of put a damper for some people. Inside the Beltway lunch, said. In order for Trump to be successful, he must win Florida, Ohio in North Carolina in those states or too close to call. Right now, every one of those states is required for a Republican to win nationwide. On the other hand, one said. Democrats are looking at three states in the industrial Midwest, Pennsylvania, Michigan Wisconsin once said that the battleground states including of Madame Minnesota, those of the state's Republican Zehr, I ng very carefully because they've They got a shot in those two states. So in reality, this is not a nationwide elections. A state by state election, which it always is, always has been. But what? Look, I'm not trying to jump in the lungs is chilly here. I mean, the fact is the last two times I've seen once on TV. He's been swearing up and down that Trump don't have a prayer. That the pollsters are right that they can't get be wrong again. If they're wrong again, it's time to shut down the whole polling industry that they can't get it as wrong as bad as they did in 2016 so now for once to come along, as they're telling us What Trump's road victory is, I'm just a little confused, and here's the bit about the dog years every time the Los Angeles Dodgers have won the World Series in the last 35 years, Republicans have won the White House said to Maria. But Jerome Oh, The God here is Won the World Series in games fix. Against the Tampa Bay Rays last night, Once said Game was quite an evening. I don't know if it was a Correlation or not, So that's that. Here's by the way, Here's plugs grabs him by number 24 very quickly. Wilmington, Delaware plugs is out there to scold everybody against completed in here another public health with my team of public health experts. Scientists looked at the latest reported that on how it indicates that we're on the upward slope Of a bigger wave of confirmed infections than anything we experienced today. This is not political. It's patriotic wearing a mask, where one period where one period it's not any of this of plugs is warning everybody and it's really dark out there. It's really dank out there. It's really hopeless out there. There's not much we can do. Just wear your mask. Biden had an unusually busy day yesterday, first addressed ah on audience confined to socially distant circles in Warm Springs, Georgia. You know, Warm, Warm springs, Georgia is where FDR went to die. Franklin Delano Roosevelt. For those of you who may not know who FDR is. He was a president married Tio Eleanor Roosevelt, who Hillary Clinton talks to at night. Everyone goes to another. Oh, Hillary says she does. I'm not making it up. So this is where Biden addressed a record crowd. 365 cars easily made it the largest event of the campaign for buying you believe 365 cars, the biggest rally of his campaign. And this is the guy that's the so faraway frontrunner. We can't see who's in second place. Record crowds 365 cars in Atlanta, the largest event of the campaign for plugs, you know, 365 cars that would even make a respectable trump caravan. 75,000 cars Rally for President Trump in Miami last week. By the way, aren't Biden's car rally? Cheering attendings by definition honkers. What they do. They honk their horns instead of applaud. I thought that was the funniest thing. I'm watching Obama last week, and it is in North Miami. And he's doing these appearances and extolling the virtues of Biden and whenever he talked about by nothing zilch zero knot of when he started ripping him to trump that's when all the car horns went nuts. There There is. No there is no movement. For Biden. There isn't any bond or inertia for Biden, the Democrat party is made up. Of people. Who are just immersed in pure hatred. It's just All it is Pure hatred for Donald Trump. You know, one of the reasons for the hatred, he's successful, he has succeeded. These people have done everything they know to try to stop him. They have failed. He is better than they are. He is smarter than they are. He wins and wins and wins while they continue to lose, lose lose, and they despise him for it. Now they tell everybody they hate him because he's personality is abrasive, and he's got bad manners and he's unkind and his means beard. That's not what it is. They hate Donald Trump like high school. Kids hate each other. They are jealous. You want to get down to brass tacks. They are jealous that they could be. These clowns there's not a one of them could get on a reality TV show called the Apprentice or Anything else. There's not a one of them could be a star on TV by telling guests your fired Donald Trump has his own jets. He's got his own helicopters. He's got his own resort. He's got his own golf course. "KFBK now trending Los Angeles Dodgers are celebrating their first World Series title since 1988 without one of their star players, Justin Turner received word of a positive cova test in the middle of the Dodgers clinching their victory. Turner says the diagnosis came as a surprise to him pleading no symptoms at all. Okay now early voting Latest numbers this morning show more than 66 Million Americans have cast their ballots already more than seven million in California alone. Some election experts now predict the highest voter turnout for this election since 1908. Cameron McWhirter is a political writer for The Wall Street Journal has been covering the early voting story he was on the Wall Street Journal Podcast asked a number of questions. We're going to go through them. First of all, he was asked why people told him that they were voting early. There's a whole host of reasons. One is The Corona virus. Of course, they want to be done with getting their ballot and also I think people people were talking to generally are sick of the election, and they just want it to be over. Whatever side there there on election fatigue has said. Oh yeah, you got that pandemic fatigue. We've got election fatigue. We're all just tired. He was asked wire voters who are voting early in person doing that, instead of voting early by mail. There was a great concern about voting by mail. There's concern that there They might not have filled out the form correctly. Or they wouldn't hear if there was a problem or there's concerns about it getting delivered in time. So there's lots of concerns by voters that I interviewed who were in line various early voting stations, saying they Didn't trust the males to get their vote counted in. They wanted to see if there was one woman I spoke to who was a 73 year old retired teacher who said, I want to see The ballot. Go in. Want to see it Go in the box. Then I know for sure goes on. He was asked how our state's counting early ballots. It's a total mishmash. Some states have allowed for the counting early. Some have allowed for the tabulation early. You know that these are registered votes and put in a special place. Some are not allowing it. So it's a really It's really going to be a mishmash and what What's going to happen Election night? I have no idea and neither does anyone else. So the way that ballots are counted differs from state to state. Interesting, But you know, each state isn't isn't is in control of how an election procedure right? It's their decision. Does the surgeon early voting indicate if voters air turning out for any one candidate over the other? That's a great question, And we asked experts about that. And the answer was, we don't know and to try to draw a conclusion. One way or another would be premature. A lot of partisans, of course, are trying to paint it one way or another. You know this. These early voting means X for for Joe Biden or means why, for Donald Trump, and the truth is, we just don't know. So traditionally, Early voting would favor the Republican candidate. This year, it seems as though Democrats are far more energized than they were in 2016. So if they're out there early, maybe it favors the Democrats. It's hard to tell. I think that the point you just brought up is something that we need to dwell on a little bit. The exit polling is going to change dramatically this year on Tuesday night for the networks. I mean, I expect on Tuesday that we're going to see long lines at polling sites all over the country. Because you saw a lot of people like to go out and vote. But with this people voting early, what kind of accurate count? Are you going to get on those exit polls, right. Your sample size is much lower. I mean, they're looking at potentially 100 million people voting early this year..

"Wednesday, October 28th 2000 and 20 Los Angeles Dodgers won their first baseball championship since 1988 a 31 win in Game six over the Tampa Bay Rays. Rays manager Kevin Cash pulled starter Blake Snow after he allowed two base hits It faced 18 hitters struck out nine. He was sharp, and that's the big criticism today after the Dodgers come away with the wind in Game six. Corey Seager is named the M V P of the World Series. A 400 batting average two home runs five R B I six walks. He's the eighth player in baseball history to win both the NLCS M V P And the World Series MVP in the same season. The story this morning, though, is all about Justin Turner, who played in the Ballgame for the Dodgers was pulled in the sixth inning after a positive covert 19 tests and then return to the field massless most AH, lot of the time to celebrate with the Dodgers after winning the world Siri's to the NFL wher the Seahawks have, said Carlos Hyde. They're running back his day to day with a foot spraying this, of course, on the heels of Chris Carson, who is week to week and day today. With a foot sprain himself. Those of your half past headlines. We'll talk more, and we'll hear from Kevin Cash and Blake Snell about the World Series lost by the Rays yesterday. Bleeds. Orange and black enjoys the green and gold and flips off Dodger leases the leadoff spot with Adam Copeland say to your smart speaker play K N B. I don't think I'm not pissed off a Kevin cash too. And and William Thomas. And and all these, Raylan, take the bat off your shoulder. What are they doing at the end of this ball game last night? Is it not in their swing tunnel? As as Dave said, Maybe they didn't think the barrel rate would have been nice if they were just trying to protect to stay alive at the end of a World Series prior, what are they doing, going down with the bat on their shoulder? Swing the damn back. We were having this debate last week. Murph and I were where we were. It was the anniversary of Brian Wilson striking out Ryan Howard to clinch the pennant 10 years ago for the Giants in Philadelphia on some people were saying, You know, maybe it wasn't a strike. It was borderline. First of all, it was it was a strike. It was a picture strike, but it was a strike. Second of all. Right, Howard Swing the bat. It was too close to take. That's the line right? It was too close to take Yu gotta battle. You've got to stay alive, Raise. Screw them. We had somebody on the textile checked in and said, Agent Screw the pod race for falling off, too. Yeah, blank the pods for not handling their job. Keeping the Dodgers of the Siri's keeping the Dodgers from going all the way anyway, we commiserated this morning, although have said if there's if there's one thing and we've got to be careful with how we look at it, because the reason I'm upset about this is is I think we've all thought Leaved or many of us have for Ah, big chunk of time a big period of time that Kofi 19 is dangerous and it is serious and it is it is, ah, fast spreading thing, Which is I mean baseball believed it, Which is why they played in a bubble in Texas, right? So to allow Justin Turner back onto the field to celebrate. This is ridiculous to be, And so if you're finding solace in any one thing today, it's while the story itself is not a good one, because it's putting people in danger is putting lives in danger to continue to do this. Tough while you have tested positive If you're finding solace is a Giants fan is that at least the story is not the World Series Win. And Andrew Friedman found that out after the game pretty quickly. He had to sit down and answer questions. A Sze to Ah, it was Justin Turner was back on the field. They weren't asking about the Mookie Betts trade. Not all that much. It wasn't all celebratory about how you handle the World Series parade or or how you guys celebrate or what you gonna do with the trophy now it was all about Justin Turner being back on the field. People are checking in on the cash pretext. Like I've been saying this. I said this last night. I called it a fake ass title also called him a paper champ, But I think I think that's a good line from from Clubber Lang in Rocky three paper champ Hey, paper champions today. Maybe we Maybe we dig that up, but you have to do it now We'll do it maybe a little bit later for for the Dodgers. 65 checks in and says S. O Sadat just played a third of a season. Does that mean they get only a third of a ring wealth? Who was it? Was it Was that it wasn't Kennesaw Mountain Landis, who put the asterisk on on Roger Maris wasn't him now they've saying no, I can't remember exactly which which, Ah, Commissioner was he threw the asterisk up there, but then eventually they went to the season is a season. Right? 1 62. Eyes. 1 62 is 1 54 again, though, When we're talking about this season, we're talking about doubleheaders. That lasted seven innings. We're talking about deciding games and extras that ended with a runner on second base like I don't know, man. I don't know. 530 just has done blanks. Ah, you think was Ford Frick. Dave. Any way we can check on that for 15 checks in Says Golden State Warriors will put an end to the Lakers run next season..

"Have never seen of that. I am sure The game's They've been great. I wasn't expecting these types of Questions and and now criticisms and, of course, the protocols and the testing conversation that it was expecting. It's been almost two months since a baseball player is tested positive for the virus. But even as the Dodgers win their first world theory since 1988 Their first title in 32 years. After all, the epic disappointment, the failures, the choke jobs falling flat on their faces, they finally close out a World Series win and, instantly the celebration. Is marked by a conversation about Justin Turner and a positive test why he was on the field, and I don't just mean during the game. I mean postgame, so we're going to give you all the details that we've got. But first of all, congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers. This was actually a title that I felt emotional about and I would have felt the same way for the Rays because it would have been their first ever in theories history. But to see the Dodgers over these last few years, really going back? To the beginning of my time at CBS Sports Radio. The disappointment and the failures. And the way that they've come so close the near misses I kind of to me buildup to what is this incredible suite? Redemption and relief. It reminds me a little bit of the Washington Capitals. And what they went through and how I felt for them when they finally broke through. Now, in the case of the Dodgers, they've got a long and storied history. Of course, this is the team that has gone through many transformations. It's a team that has been on both coasts. It's a team that has World Series titles. And championships. To its credit. But this particular group this group Has had more disappointments. Lot of regular season winds, of course. Ah, lot of opportunities. But never the ring. Never the bling. Never the hardware until now. And and left. You are a Dodgers hater, and they're certainly people out there who are and that's fine. We understand sports. Hate is legit. How do you not feel something for Clayton Kershaw? How do you not feel some type of happiness or excitement for him on his behalf? Did you notice almost every single player who was interviewed? Not to mention manager Dave Roberts and the brass of the Dodgers. They all mentioned Clayton Kershaw. Seeing him. Watch that final out. More relief than joy. Initially, of course, the joys mixed in, but the relief the moment of reflection. The the facial expression, the smile him taking an extra minute to join his teammates. On the field. In this crumble. Man. That moment That one got me teary. I love the redemption story line, and now no one can ever take away his ring. Wait until you hear what Corey Seager, the World Series MVP, had to say about Clayton Kershaw. And so we got a lot of reaction after Game six of the World Series. A lot of emotion, of course. Many, many questions to be answered not just about Justin Turner. But how about the Tampa Bay Rays and the Kevin cash strategy of pulling Blake Snell with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning after he's given up his second hit? That's it. His second hit. He wass. As close Two perfect against the Dodgers as you could be. They did not have a run. He had struck out nine of the 1st 18 that he faced. He was locked in, and Blake Snell himself. Said that after the game, it was the best he'd pitched all year. But what of the analytics say? Well, you don't let Blake Snell go through the lineup a third time and Mookie Betts. The next batter represented. The start of the third time through the lineup. Kevin Cash has to answer those questions. After the Dodgers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Thanks to the speed And instincts of Mookie Betts. They take the lead. They never look back. Now it's easy to criticize moves that don't work out. And ignore the ones that have But this He's one of those decisions that will be criticized until the end of time. Blake. Snell was in a groove. He waas locked in. So he gave up a hit. It was only his second And it wasn't a bowl that was blasted out of the park. He was nowhere near being tired. And when he dropped a huge F bomb walking off the mound, you knew exactly how he felt about it and then to see his face. I never thought I'd say this, but I felt really bad for Blake Snell to watch his face the rest of the game. Nick Anderson is a really good reliever is one of the best in the game this year. What? You're trading a guy who is locked in and pitching extremely well. Who's got a feel for the game and, of course, I feel for these hitters. For a guy that's coming in. Cold out of the bullpen, and you're hoping he's in the same group. You're hoping that he can fall in line with what Snell has been doing. And so there's a lot to talk about, right? A wilder wackier, weirder World theory celebration. We've never seen a neutral site with the majority of seats empty and a positive Koven test that I will think over shadowing the Dodgers, certainly not for them. But at least is going hand in hand lock step. As they celebrate their first World Series title.

"Story game, one of the world's Siri's between our Tampa Bay Rays and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It kicks off at eight tonight. Yesterday we had raised baseball insider from 95 3 w. D. So today I wanted to have someone on to take us inside the Dodgers organization, and there's only one person you want for something like that. Joining me now on the hotline is Andy McCullough, former baseball writer for the L. A. Times and now senior writer for the athletic You can follow his reporting on Twitter at by McCullough, Andy. Thank you so much for taking some time to explain to raise fans what they're up against in this Siri's and let's start with the fact that Dodgers have been a contender for years Now. What's held them back from winning a world serious title? Well, kind of. Yeah, I mean, I guess the short answer was 2017. They played it. He may have been cheating on me. You know, in 2018. They played a team who was better than them talk to also were subsequently accused of, you know, fine feeling and punished for it legally. And then last year, they kind of like bungled their pitching set up in the NLDS in law. Do you know the team that won the World Series? The national? I mean, I guess nothing kept him back. I guess if you wantto concede all that stuff is their death players have not played At their best in the highest levels. Moment, of course here, including Challenger did not hit particularly well in your courses. 18 Clayton Kershaw on Kendall Jansen and had some high profile sort of, you know failures in the post season, So I mean, it's really just, you know, they're superstars haven't played, you know as well as they could have, And that's really how you win in October is your best players have really, really well. Tell us about the changes the Dodgers made going into this season to try to finally take that next step. I mean, they traded for movie death, and that is a big one. I mean, yeah, like it's simple, but it's also pretty profound. The effect he had on the team. I mean, you just thought in the end, he didn't even hit particularly well. But in the field I mean Indian 5 67. He made a really like like game changing eventually reason saving catches. Huge defensive, please. When you add a player like that reduces the pressure on guys like Seger and Gallinger, and just because we know they know that you're gonna have some sort of value added that that way, and so that's the big thing is that they were the best team in baseball without you know, last year and, you know, add a guy who's you know, probably The second best player in the floor behind my trial to add him to the roster. I mean, it just It was a really game changer that that's a different issue. I'm joined by senior writer for the athletic Andy McCullough, who's been following the Dodgers for years. One of the worst ways to win a game strike. Strike him out. Throw him out, Lose a game. I should say cheers with three to swim on pop job third base side foul territory. Noone's coming over makes the catch and then winds up in the seats. He makes the catch got turned around and fell backwards into the seats. But he records the out a really good play, given the shift and given his ankle, but because he fell into the seats, Muncie gets a base. Muncie goes up to second on the play. Terrific play, though. By noon he had to go a long way for that, because of that shift, as you describe and really kind of gingerly at the end as he was anticipating the wall, but he goes all in for it. Makes the catch its a good and it's a bad at the same time now. Muncie at second base could score on a blue Dave Roberts. I think he's trying to get months and third base because he rounded second he kept running, but when a fielder catches the ball in play and then falls out of play It's a dead play, and the runners all get to advance by one base. So there's a pretty clear cut situation goes to second there too down. Hey, Eduardo Nunez, who didn't start He could come into this game. Really? Recently. "It's easy to understand why the Los Angeles Dodgers made the trade for McKee bets and even easier to understand when you realize they didn't give up all that much to get it in fact in exchange for the two thousand eighteen American League MVP gather really familiar with since he was against the Dodgers in that world theories in addition to David price who still has three years left on his deal they're also getting cash not sure the Dodgers need it but the point is that the contracts are being supplemented and it makes sense for the Dodgers if they don't care that bad is determined to test free agency I don't begrudge players that of course the little bit like dating someone that isn't quite what you're looking for but I can change him but I can change her yeah well the Dodgers are hoping they can change the mind of the keep that and that he might decide to stay with them as opposed to hitting the free agent market the free Asian open waters I call it but either way at least I have a your audition with them if they won a World Series that's a a major feather in the cap to try to lure him there boy if I did all kinds of mixed metaphors so fun so it's easy to understand why the Dodgers are willing to take on this contract it's really not that gigantic spend a year trying to will him and Lauren they weren't willing to go over the top crazy for Gerrit Cole and they might not be willing to do that for McGee bats but the clear messages it's about twenty twenty forget twenty one forget twenty two well the that we get to there to that point work more dinette whirring about the future this is the here and now for the Dodgers and honestly as close as they come into the last three years and and they won the NL west this past season but of course ran into a buzz saw that was the nationals you can understand why they're ready to go all in specially given me Paul that was cast by the Astros sign stealing situation there's no way to know if that would change the outcome of the World Series with the Dodgers but it was so close if I'm in the Dodgers clubhouse it's adding a little extra motivation to me to but coming so close and falling short there's really no explanation needed for why the Dodgers made this move especially when you consider what they had to give up not so much Alex Verdugo no not a bad young player but they've got a lot of good young talent that's come out of their farm system in that they're really happy with so Alex were do go and essentially John Peterson who is reportedly on his way to the angels another young player that they really like a guy that they could solve into a bunch of different places and situations the versatility and then came to my yeah who is heading to the twins David price replacing him but they did have to give up Gavin locks they do have to give up some of their top prospect to get lucky Beth.

"Harper even sit ups a girl will go to third Harper tried for second there say please the ball bottled by right senator here in the bottom of the seventh inning video too bouncing ball the Phillies lead server has the seven the this is after hours with Amy Lawrence would you say that Bryce Harper is an athlete who gets followed by controversy I don't know I've been sitting here debating it wondering if that is the case I will say it's been a really good series for him against the Los Angeles Dodgers and now really difficult theory for the Dodgers you don't often say that but that has been the case they got a pretty big fight from the Phillies all the way through out of there was one game that was a total blow out but otherwise what we've seen from Bryce Harper in the last few days has been more along the lines of what the Phillies we're paying for he went two for three with a pair of runs a pair of RBI his batting average is up to two fifty eight baby twenty eight but most importantly the Phillies got the win it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio Scott Frankie with the calls there on the Phillies radio network and they were able to put four on the board in the seventh ends as we were talking about the Dodgers earlier certainly they would like to be able to boost their bull pen as well you guys remember we talked about this when they were playing the red Sox the Joe Kelly got his first save of the year but he also has had some pretty key blowing save this was his fourth and so the Dodgers may be a team that makes a move at the deadline we'll see I kind of get the feeling that everybody's watching looking lurking maybe fikir toe in the water putting feelers out there but almost nervous about making a movie yeah it kinda waiting which you don't want to wait too long you're not exactly sure which teams are going to be sellers and you don't want to over pay if there is a player available but you don't wanna under big either who stressful that's why we I enjoyed talking to David Sam's than earlier in the week about what this trade deadline does for general managers the president's about a baseball operations and how it can really be difficult to decide what to do I mean obviously a very critical juncture for a baseball team and now there's only one trade deadline which means you're really up against it eight five five two.

"The league man is in taking over for Casey Connor doing a good job earlier. I got you for another two hours. Plenty of time to get your calls in a bunch of Graham calls I got a couple more here on the line. I see we'll mix it up as best we candidate seven seven three three seven six six six six for those of you who think the Mets somehow have screw Jacob degrom by giving him going into this season, a seventeen million dollar contract wants an extension. I would consider an extension program. I would not just flat out deny him. The Mets seemed to be dragging their feet a little bit. But he. He's locked in for seventeen million and the season still doesn't start for another six weeks. So they can negotiate right up until opening day. They going to go shade into the year if they want but Jacob degrom came out today, and at least suggested hinted at taking care of himself and potentially looking into an innings limit this year some innings protection. That's not going to go over well with the man. Go over well with met fans. It's unfortunate Jacob decided to try and use this as a negotiating tactic or ploy. And I think the Democrats are not being unfair. At this time. Now things change situation changes my opinion could change whether I think the metro being unfair to Jacob degrom. I don't think that's the case right now. I think Jacob degrom made a mistake by suggesting borderline threatening that he might not be willing to pitches many innings this upcoming year as he did last year when he won the Cy Young and was the best pitcher in all of baseball. That's not a way to get yourself ingratiated with the team and get that super-duper max extension contract that you want. I don't think the wilpon will fall to the leverage that Jacob degrom is trying to generate and if you're looking for a comparable because everybody likes to use Khan. Comparables give me something else. That is transpired before a player. I could compare them to a situation. I can compare them to. I think this one's pretty closed on point. Now, it's not perfect, and I will point out where it's slightly different. But I think it tells a tale just the same Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers by his fourth season in baseball. He had won the Cy Young in the National League. And he was arbitration eligible coming off a Cy Young win his fourth year in the big leagues. Now, he was younger which is a positive then to Graham was when he won is. I say young Jacob older which unfortunately is a negative, but the Graham is in his fifth year in major league baseball. He was one of those super twos. So he did get an extra year Barbara it in because he pitched enough in his rookie season to drag him into the super do category. So he's going to arbitration four-times Kershaw was not the case. Prejudiced. I three years on basically rookie deals and any went into the arbitration in his fourteen fifty by six year, he would have been a free agent. So it was a little different not a perfect comparison night, quite apples and oranges. But it's. Red apples and green apples. So it's not a perfect comparison. But it's close. The dodgers decided after Clayton Kershaw won the Cy Young in his fourth year in the big leagues and was arbitration eligible eligible they gave him a two year contract. Not a one a two. So they went a little further. They bought out both of his last two years of arbitration eligibility and his season was comparable to the one. That degrom ad. He certainly had more wins. But his ERA was a little less his weapons a little less his strikeout or more, but the two seasons very comparable Cy Young winner Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw now this was two thousand twelve he won the Cy Young in two thousand eleven so we're looking at the two thousand twelve and two thousand thirteen year now salaries have gone up in baseball. They're starting to slow as evidenced by this year's free agency mix, but they just continue to rise. So you would expect the Graham to make more Clayton Kershaw salary for the year after him winning the Cy Young when he was arbitration eligible. Was seven and a half million dollars. He signed a two year nineteen million dollar contract. Seven and a half the first year eleven million dollars the second year and five hundred thousand dollar signing bonus. So a two year nine hundred million dollar contract. Jacob degrom in a very similar situation. Got one year and got seventeen million. And oh, by the way, the next season Clayton Kershaw after winning the Cy Young comes back in what he did a year after after going twenty one and five and a two to eighty IRA comes back goes fourteen nine pitches. A to a two five three ERA and finishes. Ch- second in the Cy Young voting the following year, and he made eleven million dollars. If Jacob degrom finishes second in the Cy Young voting in the National League. This year follows up his Cy Young with a second place finish like Kershaw dead. I'll I'll project what the Grimes gonna make. If they go to the arbitration process and agree to hack it out ahead of time. Twenty two twenty three million. Let's let's be optimistic Twenty-three. So Jacob degrom is gonna get seventeen and twenty three for the same to comparable years to Clayton Kershaw. Add he got twenty two Graham would get forty. That's a pretty good increase in an eight year period, not even eight it would be nineteen and twenty is compared to twelve and thirteen eight years. Exactly eight years. That's a pretty big jump. That's not exactly the Mets. Screwing Jacob degrom. I know he wants the safety net and a guarantee of a long term deal. It's not going to be all that long maximum. If this year, we're included would be this year and four more the Mets aren't going to go more than Matt Nomex shouldn't go more than that. Because Jacob degrom wanted to differences between Clayton Kershaw is. Yeah, he didn't get to the big leagues. Nearly as early in his career as Kershaw did Kershaw is in the big leagues by age twenty the year that he won the Cy Young is first Cy Young and got paid. He was twenty three. Jacob degrom was twenty nine. That's a difference. But I don't think the Mets are mis handling or.
