"los angeles convention center" Discussed on Oh No Ross and Carrie

"At all. Oh, welcome to odo Ross and Carrie. The show where we don't just report on fringe science spirituality and claims of the paranormal, but take part ourselves. I'm Carrie poppy. Oh, you know what, though? What? The claims we show up so you don't have to. I'm Carrie poppy. I'm rasp badger. And in this episode, we tell you about our foray into the world of laughter. Yoga. I know what you're thinking. Okay. This is fake. What is laughter yoga ra? Does it involve yoga? Should you bring your yoga mat? Well, you know, we learned from the ethereal society that's not always. Which I kind of knew, but still. Now that yoga means something in the popular culture you'd think they'd be like, maybe we should change this world. Yeah, before we appropriate. Yoga mats. Pants. But this is really about laughter. That's where the emphasis lies. Yeah, so the yoga just means like exercise for health. Holistic exercise for health. But in this case, laughter yoga is sitting around making yourself laugh. With other people. With other people. Which is fine. Usually. Yeah. So how did we hear about this? This has been on our notorious list for a long time. Yeah, no, I don't even remember where we started thinking about it, but I want to read about it and watching a video and just cracking up. Okay. Send itself fun. Until we got there, I thought it was the popular notion of yoga. Yeah, we were leaving from Carrie's apartment, and she said, you think we should bring the yoga mats? I was like, they're not. You're like, no. If we need them, we'll have them, and I was like, what? Okay. So I must have not known too much about it because I just learned about it in these last couple of days. But we wanted to do it before Thanksgiving because Thanksgiving involves things and merv air go. I see the connection. Yeah. Laughter yoga. And there seemed to be groups all over the country and I would assume the world that meet regularly. And it seems like they'll incorporate it as a daily routine or maybe multiple times per week routine. Yeah, so at least one person said that you're supposed to laugh 15 to 20 minutes a day to get the health benefits. Okay. So oftentimes they'll meet up like on a beach and just get together and laugh there and then go off and do other things or they'll call up a phone line. So Ross, there's a phone line that you can call many times a day. Oh yeah. For free. In the morning. Once it like two a.m. for us. Yeah. So you can call and laugh with other people. For a full 20 minutes. Laughter yoga America. Yeah, oh, is that what it's called? Yeah. Okay. With different people leading the various laughter Sessions. And yeah, 20 minutes, which you think, oh, okay, left for 20 minutes. But it's not like they tell a funny joke. Right. Then you laugh, along with them? No. It's just you laugh. You start laughing for no reason. So we actually did call this line, but before we did that. We found an actual conference. It was put on by laughter yoga, America. Yeah, the same group. We got ourselves ready. We took the metro down to the Los Angeles convention center. And I'd been there a number of times before for E three and siggraph, these major tech conferences. And so those are some words. I'm just used to seeing this place bustling with people. And so we kept up and it's like, we don't even know if we can go in. Oh, it looks all shut down. Mobile lights are off. It's one of those situations where you're like, do I walk away or do I try to flag someone down? Yeah, right, do I come and just like ceremonially pull on the back? The empty thudding sound. And so we did, we wandered up and we're like, oh, I guess it was canceled. We're in the wrong spot. And we're just kind of like standing outside of the entrance and we wave at the security guard. And he comes over and you just open the door. It's not locked or anything. It's like hello. He's like, hey, what's going on? Oh, we're here for the laughter conference, and he was very helpful here. Yeah, he had a little sheet. So he's like, oh yeah, that's up on, you know? Yeah, walk into this abandoned building and get in the elevator take it up to the third floor. We took a picture of it. It's so weird to be in that center and have no one in it. It's like being in a train station that's empty. It's like kind of creepy. We wander off, but sure enough, we find, you know, there's noise coming from this one room at a long hallway of all these big conference rooms. There's just one that's inside that are like, yep, this is the right way. And these are all hand drawn signs, you know, like someone's gotten the sharpie markers or something. It's very clear where it is because we were in the right place. Is the right word for this room. It was a student with many. It was bedazzled. A lot of lays. As soon as you walk in, you see there's all these little cutouts and assembled phrases out of words and it's all straight out of a kindergarten classroom. I love these. Including, we love being childlike adults. Yep. Which I ran home and told my boyfriend about because I knew he would hate that. I needed from then on. He would harbor a hatred for all of that for yoga. And I was right. We are fabulous. That's another one. Oh yeah, and of course the classic son with sunglasses on. Oh, totally. Definitely that and butterflies. Stars and flowers and hot air and just like slapped on the wall the way a third grade teacher is like, well, I gotta make it, too. Yeah, yeah, you walk in this room and you're like, I'm gonna learn the alphabet today. And then in the corner of the room, there is the funny hat stand. Oh yeah, and I got all excited and Carrie's like, you probably have to pay for the funny hands. You're right. They're for sale. But they were pretty great funny hats and the funny hat lady let us try them on. She did. Well, that was cool. Yeah, and these are all bright and colorful and the audience matches. We've got all these kind of dayglo colors being worn. And I had a bright blue shirt, so I felt like I kind of fit in. There was this one fellow who had strapped on a hat with curious George. Some kind of monkey. I think it was actually curious George. It looks like you're seeing me. The yellow hat that had like kind of the flaps down the side that you tie under your chin. Yeah, we're using hat loosely. We're like a scarf tight around his head with kiri storage precariously. Yeah, a lot of just silly garb to invoke laughter. We can only assume. Yeah. Good job, guys. And so we walk.

"How it fits in with zeke. So than town is very much. The town of nob sperry is very very much based on the town. I grew up which was munroe new york monroe's a little bigger than knobs ferry. But not by much And i really. I did that because so much of the story. You know there are so many aspects of my childhood end things that me and my best friend did In the story. I wanted to be able for the setting to feel real and i wanted it to feel like where i grew up so it just it just fit well together. I mean the only exception is that there is not a john. Enormous cemetery in munroe new york. It's very of course not yet. But that's cool. I mean that's the beauty of creating your own story as you can really adding aren't there and make it a lot or spooky. Which is can you tell us a little bit about z. And her her first adventure here for sure. So goes girl is the story of z puckett. Her best friend. Elijah and her bullied turned friend. Nellie you're over the course of the book and it opens up with again. A big storm was into town and after storms past they realized and people are missing and even stranger a new principal as arrive. This principle has a way of helping people manifest whatever their deepest wishes are starts to go very badly and while all of this is happening z. Start seeing things and starts to realize that she has the ability to see ghosts and the three kids team up to save their families because everyone is sort of infected by this principle scratch so yeah they team up to save their families in the town and you a ghost to other so we do say that this is the first of a set of adventures for her or is it pretty much a standalone eight. It was sold as a standalone. But i do love these characters. And if i had the opportunity to tell another story with him i would do in a heartbeat absolutely. Is there a little bit of yunesi. Yeah i'm pretty much stubborn. She is for sure. I love scary stories to and loved him. When i was you know her age. Yeah i think so. Look for ghost girl wherever you get your books. There's more time capsule so stay tuned. let's get back to time capsule on the sf t- podcast network makeup. Artist bruce grayson. James mckinnon talk award show makeup. Mr mckinnon works on the star trek shows discovery and picard when you're working with actors and not only for the special but also for the oscars you know they come in to be made up to be on camera or to shoot a special I guess you do you get to know even ahead of time. Their face and and kind of like what problem areas are might be so you can enhance a little bit. Sometimes i do. Sometimes i get a good heads up. I know of a lot of the publicists in town that handled most of the major stars. So i have a good arrangement with them. They go on the red carpet with makeup by the time that they get to me and that's somewhere by the way around twelve o'clock in the afternoon at the oscars. Maybe you have somebody come out because you have to be at the location at the dolby usually except for this year by by thirty and then they're walking the red by four by four three thirty four so by the time that they have done that. They're missed makeup dissipates. So i usually try to talk to the makeup artist especially when it comes to Female make-up's in what their intent was an have them. I always ask them to travel with some of the pertinent things in there that they've done their makeup in their cocktail bag or with her publicist in a little bag and i do their touch-ups based on that that's only recently. Were people really trying to coordinate that because sometimes you know a actor before they're presenting really. Is that makeup moment. That make that time that they're putting makeup on their face is really for them to get inside of what they wanna do on camera. So he's almost like the ritual of a baseball player tying. His shoes would is a great analogy. So i'm there to help them. And sometimes i'm there to really help them. You know and and that goes for the winners sue because you know tiers of joys just look like rivers of mess when it comes to me and make up you know so if somebody's crying and it's happened many times after they win a they come to me and i clean them up tonight. We have to do it in very little on now. For mariah's christmas special. Are you brought in early on like for pre-production to kind of get an idea. What kind of makeup benita besides the regular makeup snood. They might even do some exotic things. Well we'll in mariah's for mariah's remark carries match from this christmas special. We actually did come in very early. I got the call very early somewhere around a july that they were trying to do this. And what did i think if they if we could even do. Make up during cove. Ed so we started to run an i had already done one. Tv pilot so so we we started talking about. How runako vince safety department. Even as early as that and then dessert a story or the looks and yes that was production of about. I was probably for three weeks before we get the sound stage. You know making sure that we could socially distanced all the performers that they had their own kids of makeup and how we were going to construct this. We had bannon tables twelve feet away from each other. It was pretty amazing. If you could see it we took over the whole los angeles convention center. When i have to say that we did everything possible and made it is completely safe. It impact. I had no even forms about it being the safest place on the planet it you know as far as shooting. 'cause we really look to all the great extents to to to great expense to make sure it was safe. I enjoy live shows in. I and i love when bruce calls and asks for me to help him because One just a combined effort between two great artists that can pull anything out of our hats in that end. Those type of shows need that as well with performers in changes. And it's it's it's an exciting experience so Just that opportunity is great and to work with bruce. Obviously as great as well so was for the same for me with james that we've been working together probably for ten fifteen years fifteen where to start coming in on on on some of the award shows in some of the tv specials. Yeah i mean. The good thing is is bruce's amazing makeup artist. I'm amazing makeup artist. I do beauty and prosthetics. Bruce does beauty and all. The other stuff beards mustaches. All that kind of stuff so when it comes together and there's specialty stuff we all have to be in different places at the same time so if he asked me to do something he doesn't have to question that I'm not going to be able to do it. I can go off and run and do it. Or if i can't do something he knows or i know that he can go do it. So wherever whatever show ron or whatever Thing were in we both can just go and go take care of it. This year marked a milestone for star trek fans as gene roddenberry would've turned one hundred years this year. I spoke to his son. Rod roddenberry about that and some of the events being planned johner. His father getting the quotes from all these people that are working on all the different shows. Pretty fantastic talk about how that came about. I mean there's many aspects to it You know first.

"About an hour and a half ago. Joe Biden, former VP. Speaking. And of course, we're waiting for President Trump and Eugen Point. Yeah, I would actually expect to guys that were here from President Trump again. It's very late Washington time. It's already two o'clock in the morning, The president will be speaking. He's been watching results from the White House that I would assume That he is going to be optimistic that he is going to talk about the victory that awaits him to try to put the pressure on some of these states to call their election in the media outlets by the way to call the election of President Trump. He is this close. And the longer this goes on, as we've seen in our state of California guys that the more opportunity there is for some tinkering. With those of vote counts. I do want to mention the Senate races has become particularly important because of the balance of power, right. We've heard Democrats threatened that they're going to pack the court. We've heard a Democrat's threatened that they'll end the filibuster that they'll add states all in an effort. Teo tried to really change our country as we know it right now. There has been AH New update to this. The senator from Montana Steve Daines has won in a tight race. Against the former governor and former presidential candidate Steve Bullock in the state of Montana. So good news for Republicans is there protecting their majority in the Senate, and also another projection As Faras states go. Nebraska is one of the only states that actually divides up their electoral votes. They have a total of five and they've assigned three of them. Sorry, four of them now to Donald Trump, with one Going to Joe Biden. We saw Joe Biden in Nebraska a couple of weeks ago trying to get that boat and he did. Then we're waiting for President Trump who he's supposed to speak voluntarily. We'll bring that to you. When it happens in, Don takes over. You picking up on the potential for shenanigans taking place with the delay here. We know that in some states, they're you know, not even going to be able to do much until tomorrow and even later into the weak and every time right? Something Yeah, well, Philadelphia has actually halted their mail in vote count for the night. Pennsylvania is one of the most important states in the United States. Right now, As this election draws to a close, Apparently, Philadelphia has decided to take a break. This is the biggest city in the Keystone State where President Trump holds right now a lead as of this Moment. Philadelphia officials say they will not be reporting any more mail ballot results tonight about 76,000 have been tallied so far out of the 350,000. Some received Eso remember, Biden supporters are disproportionately voting by mail. Politico reporter Holly. Oh, very odor being reminds us. So that's a little bit of a clarification of what we can expect out of Philadelphia and fact Pennsylvania from this point forward, So it looks like those of us that were hoping For a resolution in this presidential election. If Pennsylvania is the state that's going to make the difference. We're not going to get it tonight. Interesting again. We are watching a podium on TV that shows the presidential insignia and a Siri's of U. S. Flags behind that and expecting to hear something from the president. Kind of probably saying that he feels very strongly about it and that things should move forward and we'll bring that to you. As it happens, A couple of sidebar stories. I want to take it to a story. Quickly. In Los Angeles, where the police department there has declared an election day gathering near the Staples Center and unlawful Assembly. People may not be aware of the story around eight o'clock Tuesday night, the LAPD broke up a gathering and PICO and Figueroa across the Los Angeles Convention Center. And ordered the crowd to leave. Authorities say no arrests were made, but some people were detained. News reporters at the scene say the sock crowd had gathered in the area after a black lives matter. Los Angeles Day long marathon at the polls event so Were watching that some business is done and generally heard about in some of the cities around the country have boarded up their windows. Yeah, it's so unfortunate. This doesn't seem like America. No matter who wins. We should be celebrating our republic celebrating our democracy today on Election Day, when we get to go and make that choice for our desired candidates instead, what we're seeing is almost threats of by people who are saying Well, if we don't like the outcome of this election, we're going to burn. Your business is down and what I hate to see Larry in Don is that this is being allowed to happen. You know, I'm disappointed as a resident of Los Angeles that instead of taking a hard stance against these people are out there doing no good. They say, Well, we're just going to board up our our businesses and hope that nothing happens. The same thing going on right now in Washington, DC, where there has been a little activity around the White House. People trying Tio put up signs things getting a little rowdy. Around the outside of the White House, where they actually had to add an additional layer of security in the turn in the form of events, they call it a non scalable fence. That's right, sir, If you thinking of you think you could make it? Larry will see you now, anyway. That is kind of a backdrop to this election. We're watching What happens there, don over to you at the election desk While we're waiting. We'll interrupt you when the president does get to the podium, but share with us some numbers. You're watching some of the races around the country. Some of the things that you've been looking at, give us a sense of What else is going on this evening? Besides this presidential race well for those listeners who have just joined the broadcast. One of the things that everybody should be concerned about is economic liberty and freedom in Congress. Right now, A bill called the Proact sits, which would essentially eliminate around the country, a whole classifications of employee called independent contractor That Pro act is something that has been pushed through out mostly by unions, who are looking to eliminate independent contractors not going to tell you I've been an independent contractor nearly all my life since 1983. I got to make the decisions about my relationships and how I would go about getting paid from Cos. As an independent contractor, just transacting business and getting paid based on fees or commissions or a contract in California. The reason why bring all that up is that in California, there is a proposition, which is the state version of that which.

They're going for it. Not so fast. Now it looks like it might be. It's rescheduling for September 24 through 26th of 2021. That's a year from the original 2020 date. Wow, a lot of dates there. What happened here? It's rescheduling for September 24 through 26th of 2021. That's a year from the original 2020 date, Okay? Since she's been in quarantine, and she's you know, she's got a new album coming out, and she's doing this line in that line at all. And she's Oh, she's got a skin care line that she's expanding. And all of that. But what I loved is that she said. Robes are her new uniform. Oh, my God, she said. It's comfortable, flexible and easy. You could have thin ones that once why do you need anything else of Europe home? No makeup? No, we've I'm chilling and doing what I have to do. Of course, I'll put on clothes for a zoom meeting every now and then. But see, she's discovered how he didn't say zip robes, but I'm sure she meant to Problem. Don't you think? I don't really see Rihanna on a Cipro. But who knows? You don't know that for sure. That would be a no. I know someone who's not in his a probe or any rope. Okay. Or any clothes for that matter. I have a guess. Go ahead. I think it's going to help you would be right now in her birthday suit in her birthday suit on her birthday, and I would think of her outfit. Well, look, if I looked like that, I would use that house to any. I mean, you know, I saw when I saw it. I kind of rolled my eyes. But I mean, you know Well, you rolled your eyes, but better than that. Her 16 year old daughter, Apple. Did more than that, because she added a message and just in all caps. It's said Mom, which I thought was perfect. That's the best the party rolled. My eyes was not that she was posting this photo where she strategically is covering up. She has her hands place that you know she's from the side. She looks amazing. You know you was far, though, so it was far a little cellulite. J would see it. It was a soft lens that's for sure was very strict. Magically positioned. Yeah, but the part where I was like man she is always working is introducing a new body butter. Well, she was a birthday post. No, she said she posted it on Instagram. And standing in the yard, wearing nothing but her birthday suit and some goop, body butter and a watch right? And she said, This is just so amazing. What does it mean? I can still get my kit off. Hey, I think that's what she said. What does that mean? I just don't think anything we can talk about on the radio. Really? Oh, okay,.

There was never any point in time where there was justification for deadly force, according to initial reports, It isn't clear the officers responding to the incident knew Blake had a knife until he admitted it after he was shot. "A hearing on anticompetitive behavior. Among the digital giants. Yeah. The House Judiciary committee will hold its inaugural hearing later this afternoon on anti-competitive practices. Among the big boys. The committee has already put Amazon, Google Facebook, and apple on alerts, and members made it clear that the tech titans will definitely go under the microscope and it gets underway later today, congress beginning at scrutiny of the big tech giant's amid some growling discomforted, Washington over the power that these companies will over the industry in public itself. The public life itself, the House Judiciary committee, holding its inaugural hearing this afternoon on anti-competitive practices. Among those digital giants, here's a quote from Representative for Ramallah, Jay Pala democrat from Washington. It's time. It's pastime for this historic bipartisan investigation to ensure healthy competition among digital marketers from antitrust roots. At big oil, today's big tech. It's our job to look out for consumers, small business, and the innovators of the world. No doubt about it. But how do you tell a company had him on this more economically savvy than me? I'm sure could maybe explain. How do you how do you tell a company, you may no longer grow? You may no longer expand. You may no longer come up. With new ideas, you may no longer. You know how does that work? We've done it before. Yes. And I and I understand the need Ford. But you know what incentive, do you give a company to stop dead in your tracks the investigation represe- represents the first congressional probe into allegations that the companies are engaged in anticompetitive behaviour in an enjoys. Strong backing of the democrat leadership. House speaker Nancy Pelosi declared last week the era of self-regulation is over. That's what she says enough is enough. Republicans have also criticized the size and reach of big tech companies. And the committee's probe is starting on common ground on this front. Today's hearing is focused on ways. The platforms such as Facebook and Google have changed the landscape of news media, Republican, Doug collinses from Georgia, the committee, ranking member and democrat Representative David Cicilline of Rhode Island who heads up this antitrust subcommittee have co sponsored legislation that would allow local news organizations to band together to negotiate with the dominant platforms over access and quality. This is pretty interesting, Ashton Solters, former chief technologist for the FTC. The Federal Trade Commission are bipartisan bipartisan tech issues is one of the biggest conservatives don't want overregulation, but they have a huge concern around the abuse of monopoly power. Our? Yeah. I mean I I don't feel like I'm being forced to use Amazon right now. I don't you know, if I'm going to order something online, for example, I still feel like I have a lot of choices out there. And so it's, it's, it's one of those things where do you draw the line? And how do you do that? Republicans appear to be trying to rein in some expectations, and tamp down this rhetoric. They say from the other side of the aisle, a GOP committee, according to CNBC news GOP aide is that the parties have agreed only to conduct a hearing other, you know, other other less informal oversight activity. The age said the effort would include round tables, and discussion about these tech giants. It's pretty interesting. Aspect of these, these tech giants giants because people like him, they use them it works. I'm not saying that, that we shouldn't. Control this to some point because we gotta have competition. We do we do. We've gotta have room for other businesses to grow or even happen at all, while the allegations, are there is no competition among these big boys, because they're able to buy up any smaller competitor comes along. Right. That is a monopoly. And how do you know you're getting exactly what you want to see on Amazon or Google? How do you know? Seeing exactly what I want to see what, what he whatever. You're searching. How do you know you're only seeing what Amazon's going allow you to see your only seen what Google is gonna allow to see? There's that aspect of it. Yeah. Right. That well, that's part of it. Yeah. According to the story, it's, it's not clear how many additional hearings are in the works, and what topics will be, you know, focused on, but the, the new scrutiny comes as the Federal Trade Commission and the department of Justice launched their own antitrust, enquiries, and states are considering this as well. Gene, common is a head of public knowledge. It's former top antitrust official at the Justice department says, I think this comes at a critical moment where there is enormous public concern about the growing dominance of some of these largest tech firms at a moment when people are saying break them up go after them with antitrust. And if there is really a problem in the tech sector, congress needs to understand a better, you know, better what is actually going on with these tools, and how they actually work zig Amazon doing anything that's against the law. By constantly expanding constantly, yes. Maybe, maybe eating some other companies up is any of it against the law. I just wonder how do how do you read it? It's, it's, how do you. How do you control that seven forty you can jump in here at five one two eight three six zero five ninety some good economic news? And that's an understatement. How about some great economic news? The Dallas Federal Reserve says Austin's economy is growing at a solid pace. Dallas fed uses what's called the Austin business cycle index to gauge the economic growth of the area? And according to latest fed report that growth was seven point four percent in April, it's very good and well above the average of six percents. And we spoke with Dallas Feddie communist Christopher flight about this latest report, pretty broad based growth overall, and we're seeing a decline in the unemployment rate in the area last time we saw labor market. This tight was the tech boom of the late nineties. I think you put that altogether and to choose a pretty good. Economy in the region, and that unemployment rate for the Austin area, two point five percent to be exact flight says that could have its own side, effect, two point five percent for for Austin metro this is Boston is very, very tight. And I do think that it's getting to the point where there simply aren't going to be enough people to fill the position of job growth that has been strong construction and the financial sectors, leading the way the retail sector though, actually did see a decline. The average hourly wage also slipping a bit in April by point seven percent. But that average is still more than twenty nine dollars in surpasses both the state, and national averages for hourly wages and housing affordability, which is defined by the percentage of home sold that the median income household can afford increased ten percent from the fourth quarter of last year to the first quarter of this year. Metro median home price has continued to soften in recent months that three month average actually peaked back in September of last year at three hundred twelve thousand nine hundred seventy five dollars. Patrick Osborne, NewsRadio, kale BJ, all right there. You go alone of great economic news, for the state of Texas, and specifically, Austin, Texas things are going, good, man. Well, go ahead. No. It's it is good. There's no doubt is good for a lot of people. And then some people is not it, it, it makes you think, okay. All the we, we can look at all the things that are, that are going right here business is going incredible. Things are expanding all that stuff. Beautiful city live in, and then the things that also come along with the this good economy, which is going to be things like gentrification, higher taxes, higher property values on and on and on longer lines. You name it. There's no those, those things might be be inconveniences in life changing a lot of people in some ways, when they have to move from Austin, but what's the motivation for, for people that make decisions on things like this to change it, I don't know what the motivation would be? Because again, it's working, listen, we've got all work and extended report on this economic report from the Dallas fan and all the highlight. Nights, and some of the low lights some surprising stats, surprising details, you got to check it out. We have an extended reports on the front page of our website, KLBJ's, Patrick Osborne is put all of this together with the help of the Dallas Federal Reserve, and it's right there on the front page at NewsRadio KLBJ dot com. You should share that. Check it out. If you're a business owner, you want to see some of these numbers because it may it may determine how you, you know, invest in the future here. Locally, it's on the front page for website at NewsRadio KLBJ dot com. Seriously? I mean, when we think about we complain about traffic and in, in behind taxes. Those two things, what would the, the motivation really be for the city to, to, to make that a more palatable easier situation for us when, when they are going so well in this city? Listen also in the world of business news. There's an uptick in hiring in April across the country, setting a new record. However, there are still more jobs available than people to actually fill them hiring rose to five point nine million. That is the most since the department of labor began tracking the stats back in the year two thousand still seven point five million jobs remain unfilled at nationwide. Seven point five. Million jobs remain unfilled. We just we have more job openings than we actually have people. Yeah. We need more babies. I guess people get get get after it, when it more human beings at just wondering if these jobs paid better with a were, they were they still have this issue. I. Apparently, a lot of people must just be happy where they are. I mean you want to fill the job pay. More people might start showing up gonna have to. Yeah. You're going to have to be very competitive. Yeah. And I'm and I'm curious what kind of jobs are these seven point five million jobs remain unfilled nationwide. Is that is that fast food is a wide cross section of every sector from construction to, you know, service and everything out there, is it? I'm just curious as to where most of these jobs are was. We know we've talked about before. And we've talked like Hoover Alexander for, for example, from Hoover's by cooking that that's one of the areas for sure. Restaurants food service. They're having a hell of a time. Keeping those jobs will stay with us. Did you hear about seventy thousand gamers, set a new crowd record at the Los Angeles convention center? "Night in Los Angeles, actually at the Los Angeles convention center. This event was huge. They all of the stars. From what they say is going to be the final installment of the adventures movies all got together last night, Robert Downey junior Paul Rudd Scarlett Johansson, Liam, Chris, Chris Hemsworth, the the whole gang everybody. Did you see Natalie Portman with their Moser quite a buzz has not been in a marvel movie for very long time. But a lot of people like that showed up who had I guess it was because it was it's the final chapter people were showing up because you know, it's like sort of a class reunion. I guess, you know, and people would just want it to be part of it. The stars that were there. Not surprisingly you're saying that the movie was fantas. I'm actually going to see if this afternoon so long three hours long tomorrow morning. I will be able to tell you how many times I had to go pee during the movie still on. This is what I'm going to report not so much like the movie, but how many times I had to get up to go to the bathroom during the three. I think that should be your new scoring system. Mike. It was so good. I couldn't leave no matter. How bad I had to go. It was one p I give it three flushes. But the more flushes that would mean the less good the movie is right at a not not one of those flushes that you just happen because you happen to be standing there. Right. I mean, a real one where you have to actually pull the lever old school old side. I'd like to flush old school. Oh, sure. All right. What's the Jimmy Fallon's during Jimmy Fallon last night to did a really really smart little play on the history of the avengers set to the tune of Billy Joel's? We didn't start the fire. We'll just play just a little bit of it for. Planting. No. Really yet. Who wrote it? It's I have no idea, but whoever.

"A show about cars, but evolved into a show about the transformation of transportation here in the bay area where such well, there's so much going on and we bear witness to all the new technologies and the ways that we use transportation to get around here in the city of San Francisco, we certainly bear witness to all of that whether you own a car, you're driving a car, all of a sudden your user of lift and Uber we certainly have the going all the way back to the cable cars, and as I look out the window from our beloved studios here on Broadway and battery every now, and then I see somebody wandering down the road and electric unicycle skateboard something like that. So let me I wish you all very very happy holiday week. Weekend from Passover through Easter. This is a big weekend at one more event into all of that the day-to-day four twenty big celebration going on we're gonna talk about the history origin of that. Because it is bay area. Now this show is I talk about it. We when I keep saying that there's several of us that come into the studio to share our own experiences and knowledge, I certainly couldn't do it all myself using next to me are good friend, Alex stack an auto enthusiasts will pretty much sell anything that moves he's out on the Simon. So I'm so thankful that my good friend Shawn Mayer sitting in the chair right beside me morning, Sean. Hey, charlie. How're you doing? Well, I'm doing great. And it really is fun to have you right there. With the microphone near you. It's good. It's been a while. I've missed I've missed our little little chitchat. Yes. Money says that is because John and I did the podcast Motor Trend for several years. We one hundred episodes award-winning word with some of those. Yes. And the reason I'm glad to have you in here. Because one of the things I wanna talk about that happens every year around Easter weekend is the New York City autoshow, New York international auto thing as like to call it and China's is an auto enthusiast. Sean is an auto. No. I have been in New York all week. I came back late last night landed SFO, nearly two AM, and it's a big fun week for me to be around the cars, and then Sean use these spend the next several days talking about what I saw. And what I thought of what I saw. And it's so now you're in here, and you get and sometimes you come back and the shows don't always have a ton of new introductions or a lot of new innovations and this year, New York, I mean, it really delivered. There were bunch of really interesting vehicles. Yes. So if you like cars if you'd like what's happening in the car industry. You're you're picked the right show to listen to this morning. We're certainly to get into more things as the show progresses, but we're going to focus on that right now. Sean, absolutely, correct. The New York auto show as I say always around the Easter weekend. So we've already had the two or three other major shows, and when I say that Los Angeles and the fall, and then of course, Detroit just after the holidays and the beginning of the year this year. Some. Yeah. Some people like in Washington DC or Chicago. And then of course, finishing off with New York as you say this year is because the traits moving it is it is. And I am native. So I used to make the winter trick up to the Detroit auto show in the middle of winter storms, and you'd be in Detroit. These new cars and not being able to to drive anything for the most part. And now Detroit is moving to it's moving late in the spring. They found that that maybe people don't enjoy going up to Detroit in the middle of winter much, the Ohio oil, Ian. Breed. You're heading north in the winter. And so. Talk about honest shows themselves, and we talked about dates and times and we've seen that's one of the big changes. Cascading effect a couple of other shows that are moving as well, Los Angeles convention center. They're gonna start working on. So they're talking about moving to this bring. Was I last week New York, of course, always around Easter break, and that changes because it's tied to the Easter weekend, and that can move upwards of a month. This is almost as late as it can be it can be early as mid-march. And so, but when you that Sean two cars themselves when they rolled out and traditionally in the fall like this September, October we'd start to see quote, unquote, two thousand twenty models. I guess there were dozens of them at the New York outta show right now. So yeah. And it's kind of interesting how different manufacturers sort of pick different shows to release their their big things. Like, usually. As you know, I'm a Porsche guy. So typically the Elliott at the end of the calendar year is a big show this when Porsche usually introduces some of their biggest models or news models this year Porsche at the New York outta show released a new model that kind of hearkens back to as classic as it gets. And that's the Porsche speedster. Well, yeah. And we talk about looking back. We're a lot of an anniversary celebrated Nissan z car fiftieth anniversary. So there was a very historic presentation about that. And we're looking to other and we just go on and on about cars. But that would be polite to the third member of our team. Thank you very much patiently sitting there. It's funny. I didn't wanna you know, like I normally would. But normally what that my favorite way. Ladies Stacy ran decker is in the house. She lives here in San Francisco has couple kids doesn't own a car. Not sure everyone should have one. And I I can give a million. Different excuses. But one of them would be the new jump up that was released, and we could talk about that later, but going to right because what I really wanna say is my absolute favorite thing is at the L A auto show when they have all the Porsche executives and listening to them say golly phone back to a politician that we used to have running the place like this is how they say. And they say it all the time because there are more Porsches in California than I believe the rest of the country combined as a truth fact, and so they love Califonia, you put the word truth, in fact together is that going there? So what's really fun Stacey? And Trump both live here in the beloved city of San Francisco, and they understand what some of the challenges are in getting around. And I always want to remind people that Stacey does drive a car and surprisingly to some people is big proponent for more tracks out there. More places that people can really drive actual driving driving driving. All those horsepower, exceleron Fowler's. Under there, whatever. And since we brought it up. I'm just going to say, well, Sean, and I did the cross city drive this morning. I picked him up and what's interesting about driving across an Francisco on a Saturday morning. A couple of first of all for the most part wide open. And but what that does it exposes or reveals anybody's misbehavior, whether it's a pedestrian or an Uber driver because they're not in an amongst all of the buses and commuters and everything and all of and you'd think that they'd be better behaved, but I'll and as you've ride your bike over here and everyone just lets guard down a little bit. I think we saw at least two baby carriages crossing at a green light. And we're coming down Geary, and there's people wandering across the street. We're going, okay. We're not gonna hate you. But it was a Saturday morning funk. You could tell everyone says they have their guard down for just a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. Just like all those people that pullover to pick up and drop off the ferry building for the farmers market and the bike lane. My hand hurts from ringing the bell, so hard. So I just decided. So much bigger. Just gonna take the lane. We're gonna get you. Hey that happened to me yesterday, admittedly is in in around central park in New York at the afternoon before I I laughed wanted to get out and just do a little walk around the city and the bikes own the park, which is great and they're searching navigating, but as I'm walking in a crosswalk, and I start to wander out people going, hey, because they're actually our lights in although it's bites coming by again, you're you're cyclist you're all trying to get along as people are going on. And so I also felt bad for doing that. So I apologize on the way over here states. Who is John was reminded me. He likes to get around town on the scooter, really. Oh, absolutely. Now, let's say sure we get the right size though. Lineage. I started biking only in the city, which led to electric biking in the city, which then led to renting electric scoots, which then led to meet her when you save scoot actual. Yeah. Seeded moped ish moped or again, because it's essentially a fifty equivalent of an electric car. But yeah, it's their slow, but fine, but the limits of those let me by a Vespa investment didn't have the electric Vespas. So I have essentially nineteen sixties technology wrapped in a two thousand eighteen Raffard that I drive to work every day. Oh, okay. So it's not the little scooter is not standing and the it's the seeded. It's a classic one fifty Primavera Vespas. Yeah. Okay. An electric version yet, they do it's out in Europe. It may be here within the next three months. It's got about a sixty two mile range. Yeah. Totally it just wasn't available. When I made this decision at work. Oh, and again, we talk about your strategy or your opportunity in getting through and around traffic and even the routes that you take depending on the size or the type of vehicle that you're moving around this town. Yeah, I've felt it's it's kind of alleviated some of the tension of definitely driving because I don't really lane split it speeds. But if there's a stop light, okay and zoom up to the middle and the other thing that both of these between bike's electric and motor. Has shown is you know, you need to you need to hear you need to be heard. Yes. And there's a lot to talk about as we unrolled this segment. We we're going to go back to the New York auto show. We're gonna talk about some of the cars that have safety feature to prevent you from hitting these bikes, motorcycles that might be coming up the side you, and we're gonna talk about a lot of the new cars that were shown this week at the New York International Auto Show. You are listening to the flying car show here on cagey ten we're here till ten o'clock. Don't go anywhere. Meeting. Why are.
