I don't know if the Padres air surprise, but they're who we thought they were. They have done a great job. The last two years of accumulating talent signing veterans, and they are That shortstop Fernando Todd Jr is as much fun to watch as any player in baseball and maybe the biggest surprise of the Rockies pitching great. I don't know if they're going to have enough runs, but they've sort of made you take a look at the NL West and say, Wait a minute. Of the 15 pictures you would've projected to be on the roster. Eight of them are out, including their number one guy, Justin Verlander. Their bullpen has been absolutely decimated. They have 11 rookies on the pitching staff right now, someone else does He have a dusty baker, the manager, they when they had nine rookies you ever had nine rookies on your team. I own your pitching staff, and I've never had nine rookies on my team. "Down bass sound of all the second L. hold on there but a hundred pants just kind of flex London and even with the range of Lorenzo Cain in center field he could not get into it two on nobody out and it is Dave Eiland the pitching coach coming out not the manager Ned Yost said they're going to give Guthrie another another hitter to face simply because there has not been able to get ready in time about that both of which is why I was going back out there but with either going out there he has to face another guy other at a conference on the ballot and that means this is a very big hitter in this game branded value first time up singled it to set the bases loaded and set up the two giants runs you know the situation we might consider putting credibility now you really read the bill if you agree to reconsider because of who's in that book that let that slip away here if you had any visions of a given up enough to move up to runners simply because of her heirs reputation he did have good at bats against got three in game three and single hit the ball hard in his first time up here in game seven against so felt they had two on nobody out tie game top of the fourth with Herrera getting ready in a hurry in the bull pen the first fence is down it is called a strike man a slider and dealt with sure thing was too far inside pretty nasty pitch from Guthrie is here to stay on that it's a quarter to build son of all the lead runner not great speed at second the pitch way high with a fastball this is a game if your manager you have to think one bit one pitch too much as it could be one it's too late but yeah Guthrie's get one more guy this is an opportunity here for the giants showing some signs of vulnerability wants his catcher Salvador Perez to go through the sides again so he will five day shaded the pole at second base the patch and belt it's a high drive to left field Gordon angling back Gordon will square up and make the catch now Pablo's gonna tag here comes a throw from born Pablo slides in safely at third wow daring baserunning against the great arm of Alex Gordon side of all just enough speed to get the third pants stays at first base as a belt at least was the runner up and here comes Daddy o's the go ahead run is at third base for the giants with one out and the Royals in ending number four gonna make the pitching change chance to have already taken their starter out of the game after five outstanding results a little better than that loyal fans would give them a legal basis as he walks off the field they're going to double again this call to the bullpen is brought to you by it's that first hit the ball pretty well new job field experience uses gotta Kerry a long long way Saddam all goes together S. first base with one out Eric comes in the guy who's been in the seventh inning pitchers during the regular season has offered in the post season then the sixth and seventh inning pitcher Mike we have seen the best of them his stuff is tremendous your velocity may be the hardest thrower in all of big league baseball but he has not had great command in these games and we've seen it we have been a little bit of radical well I think he's been effectively while because you know he's he's walked a lot of guys this has given up a lot of hits you can understand why he does it is going to give you a high nineties and low one hundred mile an hour fastball with two types of but he's got a big curveball which he'll throw on occasion and a change of which I think is best especially page but tell one thing if you're Michael Moore stepped in the batter's box if you're not to think about the curveball United the Baathists the changes you know think about high nineties gas this is a fly ball situation for more such a strikeout situation for her you figure with Morris says the hitter and not great speed the Royals would have an excellent chance on a ground ball to turn a double play the giants if they could stay out of a double play would it be able to score the go ahead run with Saddam on the third of the Royals try to turn it in the numbers for around in the post season they look excellent in the World Series sort what Mike was talking about the end of this World Series has been more total innings has only given up two hits but five walks and two strikeouts two runs allowed charge to the record of so it's not been perfect for him chance the whole piece a little vulnerable here tonight as the Royals and this is all on like how they have played all year long and that's I guess the beauty of postseason play the beauty of the World Series and especially the beauty of the game seven the Royals just played it totally by the book all year long seventh inning or eradicating Davis night sitting closer Holland it here tonight it's in a number for her errors in the game this may be the biggest thing is that the game is an opportunity does not have to come up with a hit the school run in this two two ball games Michael Moore's you've got to put the ball in play he is not a fast runner to get the ball deep enough to score sample who has ever tweeted Thursday well he did a tremendous job his first time up in a sac fly to knock in a run first pets and more straps one toward third foul that ninety seven mile an hour sinker from our era that's the thing too about the Herrera inventor of the fit you saw last night who has the high nineties fastball both these guys will throw the the two different groups on the fastball and that will change the movement at that velocity that's that's a tough assignment so you can get the four seamer but then you can also get the fastball with the extra movement nearly the same velocity the Olympics and more styles one backing out of his job but he took a good reference about it right back to the screen that was the idea that across letters and he was all for it this is the first to be he even thinks about maybe trying to take off for a second and more slides one that's a base coming into stores out of all around second heading for third is penciled by Escobar and Michael Moore's delivers for the second time already in game seven and the giants are back ahead three to to try to get the win this series they have to be the three headed monster that it hoped to situation is doing just that very thing another to strike base it that has been the key for the giants tonight and how about that to the opposite field against ninety nine again from our era behind in the count two strikes Morse just so strong and headed in the right field and not only did he score son of Albany moves hunter pence to third so it's still only one out the chance Crawford at the plate in a spot where it will not take a minute to add to their now three to lead others exposed me to third base with hunter pence should get a fly ball deep enough they'll feel the store Robert peel's one foul off to the left out of play and cry for a little late but had a pretty nice looking cut there was looking fastball got it that's the one thing about her is pretty predictable that fastball but I mean with your soul also there are where would you be chance of gone ahead three to two top of the fourth inning of game seven first and third one out Crawford swings and misses and there is the first change up at ninety it was perfect it was right the other top companies and just exploded down that's that's not fair reference is needed now now feel for the Royals especially in left and center creeping in closer those great throwing arms for the left fielder Cain the center fielder middle infield double play depth the bench Crawford bounces one softly foul first bayside another changeup from our era so he did back it up and Crawford did well this time to get a piece of it hunter pence as soon as he hit that ball on the ground broke with all of his speech with the plate so it's one of the ground hence it appears we'll be off and running and I think you almost have to do that with his speed a graduate on the basepaths still owed to shakes off his cancer has decided he wants come set the pitch and Crawford takes down it at ninety eight miles an hour for the log that lower foundation down and he did Butch his front foot planted in that base did not but you see that big Crawford hit a sacrifice fly in a big spot in the second to knock in a run chance to drive it another one here three to two giants two on one out he is the one to pets and it's on the outside explorer maybe the strike at their particular as the first exam spreads out wide tonight against left handed hitters ninety eight right on the outside corner that's right so almost unhittable pitchers of proper just could not get a swing off forever with a big strike three to down now and it's going to take a hit from the nineties laser Juan Perez he's a good fastball hitter we saw him do it to a Davis in San Francisco the **** swings and misses the fastball this is the guy right here they can really break the back mentally of the world's if Parker is to come up with a base hit here not known for his office one one the count the fifth is hit on the ground softly charging it short Escobar.

"This and this. Time for July highlights. Here's Matt Bali. Brewers fall to the pirates three too, but they would strike first in the bottom of the first inning. Yes. Monte GRANDE all lead the inning off with a walk next to batters would be retired, but then Lorenzo Cain would double that would put runners on its second. And third brings up Eric themes. But before he really gets chance to do anything, they get a gift from pitcher, Chris Archer. The. A while. Char, Chris Archer? And they're still not done next hitter after that, or excess technically the hitter who's at the plate at the moment. It is there things. Archer ready? Peres lame. Sunjwan. In the. "I guess we're Luke void purposes. Why I'm asking the question and can't make into to some degree, like do you may even still going to be on the team and is Luke Floyd. Stay in the number two spot. I know I don't think, well, I think that maybe we'll stay on the team as long as healthy, the injuries have really been the question, I think they'd like to have them as a fifth option in the outfield. But if they are forced to squeeze him off the roster. They're gonna keep Gardner on it. Instead. Voight not going to bat second just because that's typically Aaron judge spot. And I think he'll go right back into that. But void hitting six seven. It's not a bad thing to be. He's gonna play every Saturday paddock against Chris Archer. One of them is good. I think paddock is going to be fine here. I don't know why people keep raw string, Chris Archer. I mean I understand the strikeouts. But man that's that's like those are bad numbers with no reason to believe they're going to change. I don't think. Yeah. And paddock, by the way, it was a ten day minimum stay exactly on target and I don't the last time. No, I think they're gonna you're gonna see the same manipulation all your from the Padres and they should why did a very easy schedule coming out of this weekend series. And they've already talked a little bit about who are they going to manipulate the outings force. So you're gonna see it a lot with Padres this year. Just deal with it. And by the way, Padres for the first time in their history to players twenty home runs each before the also break their outfield leads the majors and home runs the Padres and from Ray is available in like. Seventy percent of the peon leagues. And Greg Vaughn is not one of those two outfielders rent froze, great, too. I mean like we wondered how they were both going to they're both playing. Good man. You know what? I'm going to mitt right now memo go, I was just plain wrong. Like didn't you think he'd be a good player? I think we were both wrong on that one that was like a handed homers and thirty steals for years. And he just he's just hit at all. You know what Margo really reminded me of like the Lorenzo Cain path with a little bit better health, and it's not it's not maybe he will have a later part of his career that's canes. Maybe it won't be in San Diego. I almost blog this week on all align up of guys. You can just at this point BUSTER. Posey go ahead, nothing's happening there. Joey Votto, nothing's happening there. Robbie can no nothing there. I would have been wrong. Maybe about Josh Donaldson. Lorenzo Cain would be on that list, like and nNcholas cost Alana's who's not gonna Homer enough for you. In our bet. I'm doing I'm not doing so hot off start point there is. And you tell me if or not. But every player, I just named there if you wanna drop them for somebody better, Lorenzo Cain. This is just it's not happening Matt carpenter. You wanna get their sure we're at the point now where canot invite a lot of these veteran guys. It's just not happening and I see every single one of these points, I will hesitate on carpenters because of the track record and the discipline numbers Lorenzo Cain. Not even stealing enough basis to make it worthwhile. Last I checked canes numbers were supporting being roster were though, barely. I, I hate to. I know it's like that. But you get my point like four months for Lorenzo Cain to hit more than fifty with ten steals, like. It's just not happening, right? I mean, if it's an opportunity that the next your now Varez gets called up. That's who you're picking up. And you need to cut somebody in canes, the guy I get it. But I'm not going to, to make some sort of rash decision and cut him for. That's fair. A plug in type, but like say we get bit really bad news on Trevor story today. It's UCLA injury. Again, he's already had one and Brennan Rogers..

It's probably outta here. More played perfectly off that WALDO bare hand for oh. Right back into the infield. Yelich's 14th homer helps Brewers beat Mets 8-6

"Yelich hits it in the air team right field. Racing back. His Conforto that all changes here yelich goes deep and the brewers lead at five zero one he is now tied for the most home runs before may first in major league history that is his fourteenth Dinger of the year in the fifth inning is the brewers. Take a five one lead to the bottom of the fifth with one out Pete Alonzo gets a basic here comes Robinson canal Woodruff's pitch ground ball to third could be to shot to second for one Arshi is the first time and the brewers turn the double play and eating is over. Second time Robinson knows involved in a double play. He had these strike them out. Throw him out earlier on brewers would add to their lead in the top of the sixth inning. Robert gazelle machine comes on to pitch I battery faces. Hey, Seuss Aguilar. He strikes out. But then Ben gambled. Doubles Lorenzo Cain lined up to the second hour of the day intentionally walked Christian yelich to get to Mike loose dacas. Basell brings home the pitch and Mushtaq is ground. Paul left side that's gonna get through into left field. Gambles around thirty is gonna try to score. No throw coming and move stock is drives in another. It's six to one brewers. Brandon Woodruff would be done after five innings. He gives up just one run on six hits junior. Garrett comes into pitch in the sixth inning throws a scoreless. Six brewers would get into a little bit of trouble though in the seventh inning. Alex Wilson comes onto pitch ipad or he faces. I'm Ed Rosario Rozario for two and hope for five the series. It's one torch right-center long run, Lorenzo Cain. Over as head. And this one is going to be gone all run for a metro sorrow and the Mets at around at sixty two next hitter. Travis d'arno pitch from Wilson ride in the left field line is headed for the corner. It's a fair ball off the wall gamble gets too quickly. Fires into second base. Here's at the tag is in time. They got Dr no not perfect draw from Ben Gammel. Yeah. They get them at second that ends up being a huge play, especially when you consider how the rest of this ending would go down. Dominic. Smith comes up as a pinch hitter. He would walk and that would end the day for Alex Wilson. Alex Claudio comes in would give up a base hit Jeff mcgeough or there's also a throwing error on the play next hitter. After that as pita Lonzo. Here's the pitch. Fly ball field. Gambled back. This ball is gone. He Alonzo homerun. Number nine and just like that. It's a one run game. Yes. Six five. So that's where Dr no being out at second really has a big role in this game in the way it was going so one run game. But the brewers would get some more insurance in the top of the eighth inning. Greece. Kamilia comes into pitch for the Mets per battery phases. Ben gamble. He walks Lorenzo Cain. Then gets Basit runners on at the corners for Christian yelich on yelich pitch chopper. First base side. It is a fair ball gambles coming home. He's gonna score yelich beats the Piat. I it's an infield single. The brewers at a run at seven five canes at second wild pitch by juries familiar. Cain would move to third after might moussaka strikes out swinging. The next hitter is yes, Monte GRANDE. All familiar throws runner. Takes office swinging about off the glove of Amelia canes, coming home. He's going to score as Grondahl is out at first base yellow pages in scoring position. Mission. It's an RBI ground for Grondahl and a huge run scores again. Eight five brewers Mets would start shipping away again though in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jeremy Jefferson comes onto pitch. The first battery faces JD Davis. He walks Brandon Nimmo than singles and the next hitter. After that is I'm Ed Rosario Jeffers throws lupin wider base hit field.

"I said I did sports sportscenter with Billy crystal wants and at the end of the little segment, he looks John Anderson and said, Tim, I loved them in the hobbit. Really crystals. I five eight. Yesterday was sitting in that seat. And he predicted the New York Yankees will win the World Series. We see them go after the good start yesterday. As you look at these Yankees right now, do you think they are? I think they can win the World Series. Also, they're pitching is so much better in the rotation that it was last year. They're bullpen is ridiculously good. And last year they set the major league record for home runs in a season. And they did that with Aaron judge missing fifty games Giancarlo Stanton. Not having a very good year. And Gary Sanchez having a really bad year yesterday to Lewinsky hit nine DJ LeMay who's a really good major league player didn't even play. That's how deep this lineup is. It is a nightmare. It is relentless. And they're as good a team as there is in baseball right now on the flip side, the Red Sox, we wound up having a great year, and of course, winning the World Series. They had a very bad opening day last year, and they had a very bad opening day yesterday. And Chris sale got pounded yesterday, which we. We are just so not used to seeing keep in mind Ailey seventeen innings in August September last year because of that shoulder, but they told us all spring. He's one hundred percent healthy. And I believe it. He just had a bad day. He's a great starter for the most part always gets off to a great start. Which is why yesterday looked odd? I fully expect him to be terrific this year. The Red Sox to be terrific that was a bad opener for Boston. Chris sale. If you don't anything about Chris sale, he takes that stuff to heart more than anybody else. I mean, if you look around at pitchers who really hate to lose he's probably at the wiz at the top of the list. He's fuming. I'm sure after yesterday. All right. Candy for baseball yesterday that it's my favorite. The way you wanna do Lorenzo Cain made the baseball play of the day top of the night. This part is eye candy to outs. The brewers are up five to four on the cardinals. And we're going to see this. Eventually, I think maybe not there it is. There we go look at this Lorenzo Cain makes eight leaping gets that Seve's the game. So good stuff right there. He's celebrating actually brought his son Cameron up to the podium out of the game. This really cute. Take a listen. Not today. Tell them. What did that day? Oh, good job Cameron. So Lorenzo Cain. Didn't play baseball until his soft more year in high school. He never played before they gave him a left-hander glove. And he started throwing his left hand. He said, I don't think I throw this in. That's how wrong he was in baseball, and boy has figured it out in a very short amount of time. I don't know anyone who loves anything the way this man loves the game of baseball. And we're delighted to have you in studio today. In the meantime, let's get back to the NBA's. We get up and go Jalen rose back in the house, and we'll start with Yana reinjuring the ankle in the fourth quarter of win last night. They have a four-game league for the top seed with six to play should they consider shutting him down for at least some very face adeptly considerate because they will have the number one. See he's obviously an MVP candidate possibly is going to win. This year's a war. Very paramount for him to be close to one hundred percents possible playoff time comes if they're going to continue to team's been so good, and they have been beset by so many. Any injuries? You hope that he's okay..

"Kane rabbit, then because because the danger would be that he's like a three Homer twenty-five steel guy, which has value or thirty steel guy for robots that it would have value. But it it it's different profile than what we're seeing which is double digit homers. He's not Malik. He's not malachite myth. That's not who he is. This. There is there's a there's beef on the bones or some meat on the bones. He he is going to have pop. I I would not be shocked if we had some point his career where there's twenty homers, but let's let's sit in a common space of looking at him like a barely poor man's, Lorenzo Cain. That's been a big argument. I've made this year Lorenzo Cain is going around like I don't know anywhere from forty five to sixty five let's say a majority of grass to plus rounds higher than victimless right now. And that's my point is you can wait two to three rounds later and gets on probably almost close to similar production roller should be put solid spot with Washington this year thinks hit for high average he's going to steal twenty five plus stolen bases. That is without question. And I think the double digit homers is probably a good marker. So if he hits in the middle of an order runs RBI's, if not maybe you miss out on our again, this is just a cheaper version of Lorenzo Cain with higher up site at this point. So I'm all in. Okay. And he has bumped up a little bit. I mentioned covered. I think the top twenty five. Twenty might have been twenty seven because we did like a trio of guys at the very end of that up sewed with settler. But now victory was twenty four. So he's moved up a head of some guys we covered last time Castanos Haniger, Alex Smith. Bog mun? Do you share Welsh's excitement about victimless? He's somebody that you're looking to get as a primary speed option with that added punch. I haven't been targeting him specifically. But I like where he's going. I like him in this group like you said looking at draft champions since February I hear he's going in with Haniger Cassiano upped in. Dee Gordon group is a joke that will minors foretell like on these guys. So that he was a d Gordon, and that's why I asked specifically about the power with robust because unlike the rabbit types that don't give anything, but that they can give you some other stuff. They can be runs. They can be. But there's no power speak of. I'm surprised Malik. Smith is going about Alex Smith on here. Champions is the twenty-third outfielder. He's going. I just don't get it is forty Espy's in the fact that he actually can take a walk. And so as as pretty sharp. I think that that's what's really driving it with mouse Smith, I tend to agree with you though that between the two I think I I would rather have robust because I just said I don't really like to take the the rabbits that that don't offer anything, power wise. There were some concerns about robots before Parker finally landed that like a what if he creeps? And and Harper goes back over there, then where's he gonna play or at least for the twenty six games that atom Eaton's going to play this year? And while. Too. Nice ball. I'm predicting a breakout. Give me a Burke he's gonna break. What? While it's. No. It's no Bryce Harper. I will mention that Michael Taylor's there, though. So just in the question for you with row bliss is what kind of what kind of leash? Do you think he has for under performance to start with pay? Or or let's assume eaten doesn't get hurt. Because obviously that would things up, but if victory was comes out of the gate, really cold. And it's Soto eaten could this Taylor. Start to up some of that time because he's a good defensive center fielder as well. I think they're going to give them pretty free reign, and I'm not necessarily. Yeah..

"While he's a guy that could make sense because they could really use a top of the rotation arm. I don't think of Bumgarner type is going to be really in their budget at this point. But yeah, I I would say that core raise the number one guy for for me in that firm system. And then I would say the other one would be Tristan lutts. He is a guy. Why that is only twenty years old? And I believe us about six three to ten in that range. And yeah, he's a big boy. He's. I believe he was drafted in two thousand seventeen than wanna sit nails it it. Oh did. I okay. Sweet. Yeah. I'm usually not good with years. But he's a guy that he's got power. And he's got a good arm as well. But the only real concern with him as he strikes out a lot. And I believe if we're going to go with numbers here. I'll say one hundred and forty strikeouts last year. I was on his ship one thirty nine year kill it. Okay. Now, I'm doing real well at this point. So I'm happy with myself. But he's a guy that some people are really high on. And he could also be a trade bait if they don't wanna move a guy like Corey Ray their farm system are released their top thirty is loaded with outfielders, and they have a lot of different flexibility there. So for really looking at their two top outfield prospects, I would say it would be in interest in lots. Then you you we we just talked about Lorenzo Cain a second ago as like I said a Red Sox fan. We look at Lorenzo Cain as Jackie. Junior with a bat if Lorenzo Cain the way Lorenzo Cain patrol centerfield. You don't even have to worry about your left and right fielders in what they do. He patrols so much ground especially in that ballpark to where it's it's like a you become used to it. You you watch it so many times that it's like, oh Lorenzo Cain made that play. That's cool. Yeah. And it's it's funny is I've seen a lot of the Kansas City Royals writers like anti McCullough Ralston Dodd, and and plenty others that have covered that team. Mention the fact how much they took his defense for granted. And how much fun it was to watch a daily basis. So when I get to watch Lorenzo Cain patrol the outfield. It is it's a it's a joy to watch considering how easy he makes it look. And when he first started off in terms of a baseball player was hitting. He was not very good. It took a lot of work in in Ned Jooste said it was a believe in a rust in story that it was his swing was ugly. And you really didn't know how he would be able to make an impact while first off it started with his glove, and then it transitioned into a sneaky good hitter. And he's got the ability. You can see him doing batting practice. I mentioned before how Christian yelich can hit the hit the ball five hundred feet. Like, no problem, Lorenzo Cain. Pride is not at a baseball further than two hundred fifty feet, and he just tries to go the other way with it. And he just tries to hit it in all different sorts of angles is really unique. And I've known Craig counsel is spoken about it too. And it's just it's so unique yet, it makes so much sense considering how Lorenzo Cain is as a player. And I think that was a really really good son, even though Christian yelich fairly overshadows it. So we're gonna get starting pitching here in a second. Just because I know starting pitching is one of the when I look at the roster at least it seems to be one of the bigger holes. Let's talk about my favorite acquisition in the entire offseason. So far. By any team? And I know this is gonna sound really weird that Alexander Claudio deal is amazing. The fact that you didn't have to give up that much to get a reliever like that. And to basically bolster this bullpen, even more is incredible. Yeah. So when the deal was initially made we knew that he was ineffective reliever. And last year. It really wasn't that successful for him. And David Stern says it was a lot of balls finding holes in the infield. And when you look at the numbers, I mean that backs it up there is mother stats are really kinda threw a little damper on that..
