"And of course, it's for Logan Web to do what he's been doing, and that is get that slider over the plate and away and be effective with it. It is one of the best pitches in baseball right now. So The key for me is Logan Web to do he's supposed to do now. Interesting. The Giants have eight right handed hitters in against Justin Steele. Now Steele is a lefty probably will go about 34 innings of five innings tops, depending on how the game goes. But this is going to be like a video game for Gabe Kapler today. With all the lefties on the bench. Where do you see how this thing is going to go back and forth? This is going to be an interesting game. So the other key to the game for me. Is the substitution of the pinch hitters for the Giants today, getting them in the right spot. Time Now for today's injury report, sponsored by Brown and Toland, Physicians discover care where you are with Brown and Toland physicians. Well, Donovan Solano starting to work out already. Dickerson is on the rehab and Sacramento. He's on his way back Cueto, and that's so good. I'm not so sure he's going to pitch again this year, and Alex Wood is ramping up his baseball activities with the bullpen this week. I don't know the effect of Covid 19 on him and his strength and stamina. But Alex would hopefully will come off the D l the next week. So that is, uh, our medical report. Time now, for today's X factor of the game sponsored by Rely Quest, defending the world's largest companies against cyber threats. Make security possible at rely quest dot com. Well, if Logan Web has one area that could be a factor in the game that we don't think about 10 stolen bases against him. Only one caught stealing Now Posey is in there today. So if he's wild, it doesn't have one of the top games that he's had before. He could run into some trouble if the Cubs won is still a base Now, on the other hand, the Cubs have to get on to steal a base, so we'll see what happens there, but runners in scoring position to out 5 38 for Logan Web That's 1 32 runners in scoring position to out for Justin Steele, one for 18. So if you're going to do damage today, the X factor maybe early in the inning and don't get too out and try to make it happen, right more coming up right after this ruby licious..

"John, you can make an argument that Logan Web has been as as effective as Corbyn Burns, who went eight. No hit innings last night. He's been Logan Webb's been terrific. I mean, he has become a cess like has he not, And you kind of shy away from proclaiming him and at such a tender age. But that's the way he's been pitching. And I think the Giants when you have your race going You look at it as That's a win day and and I think certainly that's the way they feel and the way it's been, for the most part, so It will be interesting to see today because now he the Giants were going to give him the extra day and hold him back and have him start tomorrow. In San Francisco. That was a discussion but He said. He bounced back just fine The day after his started Colorado Cause Colorado can take a toll on a guy, especially a guy who was throwing spectacular sliders the way he was in that game, and that was really A great outpitch for him, and it takes a little extra To throw a good slider at the altitude there, so some guys come with a little extra sore. But he didn't so maybe that's just youth, but we'll see how sharp he is today. Because this is his normal rest. This would be the normal idea that day he would go so And the Jets were perfectly happy to take his word for it. That's for sure. So, uh, Bullpen day tomorrow. And Caleb Barrenger gave him three innings yesterday. So the hole bullpen was kept,.

"For the Giants Justin Steele for the Cubs. Uh, your take on Logan Web and Justin Steele? Yes, Great. I think we've said that seven and over and over and over again. Let's start. His last start was actually kind of I don't want to say historic, but it was impressive In this regard. He had 15 ounce with his slider for its history. Get 15 ounce with his slider in Major league Baseball is incredibly difficult thing to do to other guys have done it this year. Kershaw did it earlier this season. Brady, singer of the Royals did it a giant hadn't done it in seven years. Bad from did it. To get 15 hours with your slider. It's going to be a great pitch. Your other pitches have to be a great pitch because You're essentially using the slider as your strikeout or outpitch. So you've got to get to the point where you can throw it. Um and the other team has to be completely befuddled Bike as the Rockies were in his last start, so highly impressive. Second in the majors in groundball rate. I think the impressive thing about Logan Web kind of like that makes him like a poor man's Corbyn Burns at this point is that the groundball rate is great. And the home run rate is really low, and the strikeout to walk rate is excellent. And those are all things that burns has. That Web has kind of maybe enough below. Um, but if you have that combination of things, you're going to be very, very tough to hit. Justin Steele Look after the element of surprise. He pops in the two seamer every so often and it, uh, it gets guys out. He's a four or five inning guy. Opponents are one for 18 against that pitch became a starter. Here's the difference. This is kind of funny him versus Logan Web. Logan Web throws low pitches four times as often as he throws high pictures. If you can imagine, just little locus would be in your mind. Justin steals ratio is 1 to 1. It's like the same. He throws high as often as he throws low. And Logan Web doesn't even come close to that. Just that was kind of a funny contrast to today. Well, it's a four or five inning. I think that's the key thing. So that means we'll see some of the Cup bullpen today. The umpire always has a lot to do with things. Lance Barrett, What do you think? Lance Barrett is one who definitely can have a lot to do with things. His. His umpiring tiara is considerably lower than the major league average. And that's because he has two things when a right handed better is, if the plate he wasn't the outside corner a little bit, so you will get that strike on the outside corner, and I think that's interesting for the lefty that's going for the code. That he the forever for Logan Web that he could. If he can hit that outside corner, he might get a couple of extra calls for the lifting that's on the mound for the Cubs. He likes to extend the bottom of the strike zone. So that pitch that's if the knees are just a little bit below. He's going to call it a strike more often than most umpires. His areas lower. His strikeout to walk is higher than most umpires. He is what you would call pitcher friendly makes the hitters swing the best. When that will be interesting. Okay, Um, Now the Padres are coming in and in a way I feel badly for them. I mean, look at their schedule. I mean, they're probably better team than ST Louis and Cincinnati. But they just make it knocked out because they got to play Dodgers giants so many times, but they are coming in next week for four. Yeah, but you got to acknowledge, too, that with that they're eight and 11 this year again, Colorado, So they, like the Giants have mauled Colorado this year, and I think that's what you know one of the things about the Australian seniors. They maul the bad teams. The Rocky is this of the party is this year against the Rockies and Diamondbacks are 19 and 19. I don't know. I don't the Giants in front of me, But I would guess that the giant certainly 15 games over 500 against to 10. So that's that's huge like that's a That's a knockout. There are the opinion of eight and 18 and its last 26 games, and we ran down the list of hitters for them. Machado hasn't hit Grisham hasn't hit has not hesitated. Fraser hasn't hit Sam hasn't hit. The only guy that's hitting for them is is essentially petite and cramming works. We got hurt. Um, they have gone pretty in tank offensively, like really bad And you? Darvish has been bad Blake Snail's been great, but he gets no run support. Um, I guess there should be some sympathy for them. But in a way they made their own bed to the 1919 against this to 10. Yeah, None of that adds up. You gotta you gotta kill the teams in your division. Unfortunately, uh, giants have done it big time, big time against both Arizona and Colorado. This team has 212 home runs now. The next up for them is 1940 17 to 21 with Johnny Mize and Walker Cooper and said Gordon and some of these Willard Marshall Some of these old names of Giants history. But, you know, I think of home runs and I think of doing so much the 2000 and two team got to the World Series. How do these teams match up at all? It is. I did this for David John. Today. I just looked at the OT giant and that 21 giants and I said, Let's look at all the different stats and see how they were compared to everybody else. The 02 giants of the 21 giants were both first in O P s. They were the OCI Giants were second batting average. 21 giants were third. The 02 Giants were second in the NL in home runs. The 21 Giants are first Both teams were third and runs. Both teams were third and walks. Both teams were second in the Ara..

"Confident out there on the mountain, you know, Look, I'm not ready to go Tim Lincecum or Medicine Bumgarner quite yet. Just because of the accolades those guys had Lindsey Graham shows up and he's a cartoon character. He wins aside young Element of Logan Web has been more natural. It's been more how guys develop at the big league level, and we were just talking to show Kapadia about, you know, NFL quarterbacks and time to develop in the amount of time it takes them to figure things out. Now we're seeing guys develop quicker or we're seeing the same. I guess timeframe of development, but we're seeing guys make the adjustment he was focusing on Josh Allen saying. It's a guy who we didn't anticipate all of a sudden to make this jump looking website guy who they had high hopes for, But the development happened rapidly this season and in a year where, he said Couple of I l stands. I don't know that we could have foreseen this or anticipated this. And here Marty Lurie frequently talked about. You know the mosaic of the season and the surprises that are going to come about that sort of help you piece together what the season is going to be or what the season is or means, Um Or basically surprises. There are going to help you inject life into your season and sometimes act as an extra acquisition. Logan webs Perfect for that definition. I guess it's a guy who we didn't anticipate was going to be this Huge of an impact player. And I know you have your your wind days where you get into a stand the staff and you start to think, boy. If we get too to that guy start we get to the Jason Schmidt start. That guy is going to win the game. That guy can be the stopper. They haven't really needed to stop her. They've needed the guy who's just going to keep the ball rolling. And Logan Web has absolutely been just that more from from this post game stuff about Logan Web, he says Me and Buster Posey sat down a game plan for this game before the game, talking about getting extra ground balls, talking about getting first pitch strikes. He even said they discussed these Streak 14 consecutive starts of two or fewer earned runs. That streak came to an end yesterday. Look at Web talking game planning for this rocky lineup, but more so game planning for course, field Yeah, yeah, Before they came here, Buster talked about it, and it's just like at this place. You just got to attack these guys and they get a couple singles here and there, you know, so be here but try to stay away from the beginning, and it's really like try to walk anybody because when, when you start walking guys, these guys free basis That's when you kind of get in trouble, and I thought that was a big emphasis. You know what I was able to execute that and I don't know how many figure it's seven singles, so I kind of went with the game plan and, you know, work out. Yeah. What would the game plan and it worked out, throwing strikes and getting ground balls? That's the way to do it because you let the ball hit the air. Of course field. It can leave the yard Pretty quickly can also end up doing with Stephen Duggar did splitting the outfielders that ended up with with two triples and a double Yesterday he was on fire. We have a texture to 90 checks in, says I told you guys a couple of weeks ago, Duggar was the way to go this too. And I remember because you've been texting in stuff about Alex Dickerson anti Alex Dickerson for a couple of weeks. The one that I was all over was the guy was like, No, you're wrong. You're wrong. Dickerson gives you more than Duggar Does numbers wise, they mirror each other. You Sprinkle in the defense from Stephen Digger and and the Colorado impact the gap. The gap. Andy back early was calling him Charlie Blackmon like, same type of player. Yeah, You're right. Let's left handed bath who can split the gaps and, uh and hit for some power has a lot of Charlie Blackmon in them anyway. Stephen Duggar after the game. He's talking to Papa and Richard really on the post game, And he says yes. Haven't had many games like this couple triples, as well as hitting the double big game for Stevie doubles through and far between in terms of triples, But it's a big yard here, in course and was able to split split the gaps a couple times tonight and If we went? Yeah, I told you that. A minute ago. He had his third triple in three days had to last night and then one against the Walker Buehler on Sunday. They asked him about that one to the triple, awful Walker Buehler. How does that compare to these couple of triples you hit last night? Yeah, potentially. But honestly, you know, in the moment, it was just a quiet mind, you know, just trusting the game plan just in just in the approach. You know, I've been able to see him a few times this year. And look, we all know how good of a picture he is. But, you know, we're a pretty good team, too. So just wanted to be aggressive on something in my zone, and I was fortunate enough to keep that won fair and run around a little bit. Maybe you don't ask Stephen Digger about two about Walker Buehler. Maybe as Walker Buehler about Stephen Duggar. Let me ask you about that I was going to get him out next time anyway, that's going to do it for the Giants Post game on the other side. Well, we'll make the connection with Murphy Mac. We'll get rolling. It's a Wednesday morning. You're in the leadoff spot KNBR one. Oh 45 and 6 80. It's the sports leader. Go through your morning routine with copes. "The Dodgers. Logan Web struck out a career high 10 and just dominated that really good Milwaukee team. Seven strong innings helped the Giants get the win in that game. This will be his seventh career start against the Rockies and his fourth start against Colorado. This season, although the first three were all early in the year, Logan I say all most of them were early in the year. The the first two were and the numbers weren't great. I think the actual pitching was better than the numbers would indicate. From early in the season. Last time he faced Colorado was in mid August, and he pitched six shutout innings only allowed three hits so more indicative of the picture the Logan Web has become. Although that start was in San Francisco. It's always a little different. You pitch at Coors Field. We'll see how he does tonight against Colorado. Meanwhile, Iraqis who are 63 75 overall, although I think it's always important to emphasize. Don't let that overall record fool you. The Rockies at home are 45 25, so they're 20 games over 500 at home. Even though they're 12 games under 500 Overall, Rockies begin the night 25 games behind the Giants in the National League West. Writebol. Tapio will lead off and start in left field for Colorado. Brendan Rodgers, their shortstop. Hitting second. Charlie Blackmon is the right fielder. He bats third C. J. Cron back in the starting lineup. First baseman cleanup hitter Ryan McMahon at third base. McMahon hits fifth Garrett Hampson, second baseman at six place hitter Sam Hilliard starts in center field, He bats seventh. The catcher is the Northern California native Dom Nunez hitting eighth and the starting pitcher for Colorado. Is the right hander. Cheeky Gonzalez Gonzalez does not have great overall numbers this year. 36613 again Almost strangely. Now, the Rockies have developed this pitching staff. Where they have a bunch of pitchers who seem to be comfortable and perform well at home. Gonzalez has pitched twice against the Giants this year. 10 total innings, only four earned runs allowed, so he's done a reasonably good job against the Giants this season. Not a lot of strikeouts. The ball is usually put in play against Gonzalez. We'll see. His third start this season head to head against the Giants Web Gonzalez. That's the pitching matchup for tonight's Ballgame. Defensive alignment for the Rockies, sponsored by PG and E customers in need can get help with reducing energy bills at PG dot com slash care as the Rockies take the field in the outfield Tapia and left Hilliard in center, Blackman and right on the infield. McMahon, who's having a spectacular defensive year, he's at third Rogers at short. Hampson at second base Crone at first Tom Nunez. Is the catcher by the numbers, the the defensive runs saved, at least according to sports info Solutions. The Rockies are the number one team defense in all of baseball. So the Rockies have done a good job defensively this season. Always important when he played course field. Maybe that's part of the key to their success there. Alright, here we go. Ready to start. Tommy lost Ella in the batter's box against Gonzales, who pitches and a first pitch. Fastball is in for a called Strike one. So we are underway. "Really do believe that. I'm getting some. Here's some Kyle Shanahan. Unvarnished truth. I really do believe that far anxiety has the Giants on the right path, but they got to make some moves this offseason. They've already made a few. I like the few that they've made. Not a lot to disagree with it. We're being totally honest. There's still some more moves that need to happen. Farhaan breaking down what's yet to come for the Giants. On with Tom and Mark earlier today. All right, take a B Friday people. Tommy is here, Larry and Rotter out Mark Willard with you and the great President of baseball operations for the Giants for anxiety with us as well, for a great to have you. How are you? Hey, doing doing great. Good to talk to. You guys haven't talked you guys in a while so nice beyond Yeah. Yeah, I wonder how which shopping list is going better over the last two weeks, Christmas or Giants? Access Well, starts in south to both of them. I would say so. They're kind of neck and neck, right? Yeah. Happy holidays. Yeah, thanks a lot, huh? How's your How's your fantasy football team doing? In the semifinals, and I have a confession to make, which I think you guys will will just be for I've been riding the Taysom Hill at tight and train for the last few weeks and really kind of bullied and intimidated our league commissioner into not Taking him out of that spot. So, um, you know, didn't even use the true reason starting quarterback this weekend, So I'm gonna have to make some adjustments there. But that was fun. While last I got a lot of pull out of the stadium Whoa, whoa! Hold on a second. Now you get all the points he accumulates from the playing quarterback. And you classify him as a tight end. Yeah. So I guess this is why I love the explanation right away, So I know we're going to let me explain myself. Elaborate on site that we are using. Um, basically has a rule that if you had him already in your titans, but he stays in that spot. You just can't make any line of changes or roster changes. So I have my kicked around by when week. I didn't do anything because I just wanted to stick with Taysom and Yeah, well, we but surely the grumbling from the other owners picked up steam and it's probably good that the run is over. Otherwise, there would have been a total mutiny in our league. It sounds like this happen. He is in many other leagues over the top it so the only question is Do you feel good about yourself? Yeah. I don't look back. I mean, I got double use. And don't look back. That's kind of my life. Yeah. Didn't make the rules. You're just exploding. That's what Ugo actually another little bit of a twist of fate. You may remember that on our You know earlier, one of the earlier shows I threw out chemicals is a sleeper. I spent a lot of money on him in our draft. He rode the bench for me for a few weeks. I finally dropped them when I ran up patients and now obviously going up and the team I'm playing in the semi this week has him so violent So, Yeah. I think everyone in early will be really excited to see me Get down by chemicals. After this whole place of Adelphia. Everybody everybody has One of those per year I gave up on give upon Justin Jefferson, after like weak, too. Yeah, it's not. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not gonna get you Commissioner of the year and, uh, not a chance. So how's the give us another season to do list for you guys to get ready for next year? Things that You know, you want to get taken care of, you know, either in order or not, But what? What's the priority this offseason for you guys? I think our number one priority has been starting pitching. You know whether that's acquiring younger starting pitching, that's kind of major league ready and trades or signing free agent starting pitchers and signed DeSclafani this week. And, um, you know, we'll continue to look at that. You know, you look at this past season, we had a short schedule. These guys aren't going to be sort of stretched out and used to the 200 ending workload going into next year. So God, Cueto Gausman DeSclafani. Now we got Tyler Beatty coming back from Tommy John. Obviously that Logan Web on D. I just think we have to keep adding to that group, knowing that it's gonna be a grind getting through a full season. The other thing that we've been looking a lot at is is adding a left handed that, um You know, we got a little right handed. Last year. We had a lot of guys had really good years. And you know, we do have yes and belt in Dickerson and cross from the left side, But it feels like if we can add one more versatile left handed back to the makes it'll It'll give our line up. Some different looks against righties and lefties. So those are probably the two biggest things on the off season list that we're still gonna look at. Farhaan. Would it be fair to say based on? I think not only just the style that you've shown over the last couple of years, but because this year there's so many questions. There's the financial aspect for a lot of teams. We're still technically waiting for official word on things like D H, and we're certainly still waiting to find out exactly when the season is going to start. So would it be fair to say But it's likely. Ah lot of different players are gonna last until February, maybe even March. And do you feel like that? Potentially an opportunistic sort of a Okay..

"The world. Siri's I don't believe that. And the way the playoffs work this year. I wonder if everybody knows this. It's going to talks starting pitching like never before. You do not have travel days in the post season this year because they're playing in a bubble. There are no days off. There are no days off. You're going to play in a five game series. You're gonna play it a seven game. Siri's. You're just playing the Siri's. We're not stopping for a day travel across the country give all the pictures of break. So as to where you can, usually in the postseason. Go with a what I would call a 3.5 Man rotation. Like you really need for starting pitchers, But you you may use that fourth starting pitcher once or twice in the whole post season. Guys can come back on short days rest. Not this time. You need at least four, maybe five. And that the Giants do not have they do not have it. I want to talk about Logan Web in in a second. I'm a big fan of Logan Web. There are concerns with with what he's been doing recently. Now, If you want to talk about an opening three game, Siri's do I think that the Giants could be scary. To the Dodgers of the Braves in throwing Gausman Smiley and Cueto out you. Yeah, yeah, that's not that's that's no picnic, Gausman and smiley or problems right now for the opponent. And Cueto certainly can be. He hasn't been great of late, but he's got a ton of experience, and he's Johnny Cueto. So could he turned in a great performance any time? Sure. So I think they're three deep. But right now, here's the big concern for the Giants as they seem to be, You know, Heaven and hard about is is Logan Web or Trevor Cahill. The odd man out there is Tyler Anderson as well. And Anderson has been pretty good. Not great. I think right now he would be your number four. Ko got moved to the bullpen. Logan Web kept a spot. Well, here's the question with two games this weekend and then eight games in seven days next week. You need everybody. You need all your starters, You might need a six man rotation so they may need all six of those guys to start games because of the doubleheader. On Friday, Cahill was unnerve ing the last time he went out. Anderson's been pretty good. But of course yesterday got tossed and many question his composure. Um I, of course, took the side. Not of Anderson should What was fine. He should just yell whatever he wants, But I definitely don't understand why I'm or discussion even when intense isn't allowed on a baseball field, So I'm gonna take the playersside over the umpires on that. But That's Anderson's standing right now and then you look a little going away for a second. So he pitched in one of the doubleheader games in San Diego last weekend wasn't terrible, gave up one run in four innings, even though it was a little bit of a slog, But you have the performance tonight where he doesn't get out of the fourth inning. And gives up four runs. Versus Seattle back on the H five runs allowed in five innings, pitched. Colorado the time before that four runs allowed in five and a third and then, of course hey through and one of the doubleheader Dodger games and gave up five runs in three and two thirds. Been a little while since Webb had a really good outing. Now he'd beat the Diamondbacks back on August. 21st allowed just two runs on five hits in seven innings and threw over 100 pitches. That was his best outing of the year. But since then It. It has not looked the same. And I even heard game Kapler on the pre game show with Jon Miller tonight, Sort of gives some tough love. Kappler was throwing tough love at Logan is you don't see. Managers coaching staff members. You don't see them say this kind of stuff publicly. Normally, If they do, it's because they're really trying to get someone's attention. And on the pregame show Capital was like we need Logan Web to be ready at the start of the game. He is going out there and is just not comfortable until the second or third inning and is giving up runs early, and we can't do that. I actually looked like he took it to heart. He pits pretty well in the first inning. He had the idea and run. We already addressed out with Danny Solano. By the way, when we're talking about the field, his name is Danny Solano. When we're when when we're talking about on offense, then he could be Donny barrels, but we can't calm down the barrels when he's in the field, because, ah, it's just not. It's not good. It's not good. So anyway, but Dr Logan Web the Giants do, really they've got a little bit of Ah, conundrum here. Gausman throws tomorrow. And if you just kind of slide it out. You know, from Sunday Monday, Tuesday, you should get another. You should get a smiley. You should get a Cueto. You should get an Anderson that moves to next Wednesday. And from that moment you're gonna have let's see. What is it? You have six games in five days from that moment and potentially you're trying to think about What you might be ready to do in the playoffs. If you get there now, you've got to get there for it to even matter. But you get to Wednesday. Once all of these guys have pitched again. I mean, his Web getting a start. Is Cahill getting a start? Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday, That's five days. That's a normal five man pitching rotation, but you have six games. I think it's highly possible. They've gotta throw him all they've got to throw all six guys. And in the three games where you're going to get Cahill Web and Anderson how you feeling? How you feeling? So Has mentioned off the top of the show, and it's why we played bad moon rising. This is a challenge. The Giants have an amazing 10 game challenge over the next nine days, and there's quirks now that are involved. There's quirks on the schedule because of the doubleheader. There's quirks in the outfield because of the yeahs injury, and Alex Dickerson's wife being about Teo, give birth. So a lot for them to navigate..

"Notes before Game two of the Siri's Tonight Before between the Giants and the Astros, Tyler Anderson goes for the Giants. He makes his third start of the season. And he'll be pitching in place of the injured Drew Smyly. Hey tossed five shutout innings against the Rockies. Of course, Field last week's hopefully can build on that. Anderson Owen, one with a 2.19 E R a On the year now, Brandon B. Lack. The rookie right hander is on the mound for Houston, and he's pitched very well in the early going. He's got a 0.8 70 are a won a pair of games and relief to start his career and then threw five scoreless innings. In his first major league start Thursday in Arizona, allowing only two hits and walking three. Now time now, for today's Keys to the game, sponsored by Geico. 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on your car insurance. And it has to start and end with the Giants defense. They have committed 21 Ares the most in all of baseball. To put that in perspective, the ayes have committed six There's so the Giants obviously need to clean it up. They need a clean game. They've They're pitching has been decent. In fact, you know, if you look at Logan Web, only two of the five runs a Web gave up. We're earned runs. He's given up just five earned runs in four starts this year. That's because the defense has consistently come up short. So a clean game with good defense. Definitely the key to the game. Time to take a look at today's X factor of the game's sponsor bakes 30 x one, the hub for all things sports with the Xfinity SportsZone. And for the Giants. The key Tonight is going to be there left handed hitters. Yes, Dickerson Belt and Crawford there four of them, they need their left handed hitters to start producing a bit more offensively. Against right handed pitching will continue with more pregame domino ts coming up next. I'm time, Shane. Although a lot in the world has changed.

"A fantastic picture. So anytime the Giants can kind of win a game that Clayton Kershaw stars, I think they're in a good spot. All right. Now let's get Austin Slater. I want your Emoji Frosted Slater last night. What's he doing? I'll give him you know the bicep. Um, a little bicep because he has a handsome strength there, you know, so I was going to say, like Donovan Solano office later, my kiss Trump's PR they the new household names for the Giants. Moving for Well, I will tell you this. And you know, I've said this for years. Let the kids play now is 26 or so, Yes. I thought I say Let him play. The jury is out on him. He's got power, but he just has. Ah, look at the plate. Where he's old enough now where he's seen enough Major league baseball that I think he knows what's going on. Yeah, I mean, he's also like the representative for the players, too, so I feel like he's like deeply involved to in the game on DH. I just really like the way that he's swinging the bat, I think Between him and Solano and Trump C they should play every day. Yeah. Yes, It is Amazing, isn't it? Incredible. I kind of, you know, like we talked about this, but I really expected a sophomore slump and I would've been totally fine with that as well because you know, you kind of up ups and downs in baseball, but he's been incredibly consistent. And and I mean, he's one of the guys that I think nobody really thought about too much when they got him and they were like, Let's see what you could dio and he's been such a nice surprise for the Giants have become The pillar within the lineup. Yeah, the pillar within the line of your saying. Wow. Your jokes. Really On point today, Marty. All right, Look, I've been up. I've been up early today. You know that in the end and working hard on the on this Sunday Hey, it's always find the chat with you about about baseball and about you know your perspective on baseball, and I love you know your view of it. It's very upbeat, and it's exciting and it's you makes me laugh and And I really like it. So this season for the Giants, you say you haven't gotten a grip on it yet? Um, is Gabe Kapler growing on you a little bit more the way he handles things. There you still somewhat I want to see more. Well, you know, that's funny because I made a list of things I wanted to talk to you about. And one of them was. How would you graze? Gabe Kapler? Andi, I think for me I think there's two parts of it right. There's one part of how he handles the players how he handled media kind of how he deals with things. And then there's kind of just Straight up what he does on the field right? Like how is he managing the lineup and pitching changes and all that stuff? Um, for the first part I He's really grown on me. I mean, the way that he's handled A lot of questions about black lives matter. He's very accountable when it comes to any mistakes that he's made. Um, I think that the players respect him and like him. So I think that part he's done a really nice job. I think he's still kind of figuring out One of the pieces that he has within the game and what he puts on the field. That seems a little shaky to me. That seems like something he still gotta work out a little bit. And you know, you only worked with these guys for a couple months at this point, and not even that, because obviously they were all separated for Cove it for a long period of time, So I mean, that's kind of my take on it. What do you think that you had to integrate it? Well, I think he's got to feel his way around the veterans right now. He's got belt off, too. You know, the belt didn't play a lot. So he's off to slower start had the big game in Colorado, the Logan Web game, which I thought was the best game of the Colorado. Siri's. Guys got Crawford on the bench a lot more. Now he's in there today against against Bueller has got to deal with Pence and Sandoval. He's got some marginal on the aisle. He's got the figure out. Howto handle Cueto, so I think he's still a work in progress. On the guys who were on the team, the veterans, so I think that's still a work in progress. I think the left handed relief is something that sort of coming together. And he's starting to figure out what to do with left hand the relief. He's got God in the right spot for him. Things got Rodgers in the right spot, so I think his bullpen is a little more comfortable right now. I'd stand and a great of 1 to 10. I give him about a 6.5 right now. No, you grade you need to give it a letter grade. Let it great. Alright, I would give him a C plus right now. Okay, So you're chapping? Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, He's definitely better is not in any trouble like he was the first weekend. But I really feel he's getting a better handle on the game. He's running a little bit more. And he's got some people who are carrying the club. He's got Solano, You, Stransky and Slater. You know, at the top of that line up carrying the club a little bit, and he's got to figure out where to go. What to do defensively. With Flores and do bond and I know that's a big thing. And then he's got to get Dickerson in the game a little bit more. Ah, and I think that's gotta happen, too. So It's still a work in progress, but honestly, seven and 9 44 games to go in this crazy season of who knows what the playoffs could look like a big win last night, and now they go to take on Houston. For three and they're struggling. So I would say the whole thing so far, unpleasantly surprised, pleasantly surprised that how it's going I completely agree. I kind of think the I thought there would be maybe a smidge worse. That they're playing right now. So honestly, anything that they could do to kind of sneak out these little windows is is Knight. You know, like a plus for me. You mentioned kind of defense office offense and pitching. How would you kind of rank the importance of what needs to be addressed? Ah first. Sure, I think it's getting a started to get given six innings because even in a 60 game season, you can't have a pitcher, pitching the equivalent of 80 games of a 1 62 Of having five pitchers pitch 80 games self. At some point, he's got to get something out of the starting pitching. Cahill will probably be up this week. Ah Tyler Anderson will get another starts, so it's still a work in progress. I think that's the biggest challenge is getting innings out of his starting pitching. And who do you think will be the first to get a quality start? I'm going with Logan Web. But what do you think? That's a good one Logan Web. Maybe..

"So you you do some Giants last night as you got to chill, and I have to do the radio show used to kick back have a cold brew and actually watched a ball. Not a bad night. Finally. There's not This kid was good. Yeah, Yeah, my little guys like that. If you're not working, how about pizza and wings for the game and I'm going you are. You're my son, Aren't you? Let's roll. Let's roll, which is probably the second reason I passed out at 9 30 because it was just in a food coma. Yeah. Yeah, I got to tell, you know, two men watching last night was it was reassuring. In some ways. It was great to see Logan Web work and nice to see Brandon Belt waiting. I've got to say this kind of thing. I did pick on though, man, and we can bounce this kind of stuff around like philosophical adjustments during the Kappler era like Again. I'm not going to be too critical because Giants got the wind, and there's a method to the madness. And I respect that. Everything, however, how, however, I would have liked to have seen Logan Web work a little bit more or or was that the right move? I think he'd thrown 68 pitches and 68 pitches and all he did in the sixth inning was give up the lead off base hit, You know, and that was it, And I know that You know, I know that this is the thing like when you get to that third time through the lineup. Yeah, they are going to be insanely quick right, but it's also hard I would imagine as a pitcher and sometimes as a fan. When you're a Coors Field a give up a base hit. It's like Skip, What do you want from me? Right? You know what I mean? I come out here. Four hits in five innings at Coors Field. Can you stick with me a little longer, But this is the new normal. That data is the data and you can't sometimes, you know, especially in baseball. Now it's hard. To scream at at Fox, even if we don't like them. I mean, that's Yeah, that's not 2020 is all about. I don't know what is like, Sometimes the facts make you mad, but you know they are what they are. No, it's interesting it is. And I'm trying not to be too emotional or too reactionary because you're right. Do we gotta go? We kind of have Tio You know, digest this whole new way of thinking and watching baseball on letting capital kind of pull his lovers and stuff, But it's interesting. I mean, sometimes, for example, the other night mark when we had the dick out there in right field, and he had a tough night man displayed the feed. Miss played the ball bounce off his glove. He had the bad throw. But then after the game on, we're riffing on this a lot the other day capitals like Yeah, you know, I'll do it again. He's going to go out there again, and he did put it right back out there. So you know, it's it's just interesting, Tio try to like get familiar with the way Kappler thinks it's a process. It really is like we're still going through it. It's really early stages. But again, Nice to see the Giants get the wind snapped this kid. I just would have liked to have seen the Kid Web pitch a little bit more because he was doing well. He was seemed like he was in a groove He's done while the whole year. I mean, he has the buried part of this is that is that Logan Web that they've got something here because he has pitched well. Three times in a row. The game in L. A. It might have been one of the best starts by any giant so far this year, so he was one of the guys. They were really looking to Teo develop into Ah, future starter and mount looks like it's off to a really good start. But you know, you talk about Kappler, and I think even he himself would probably admit he's still very much a work in progress. He's still a really young manager. And so he's navigating his way through this and there will be mistakes. Certainly like the embarrassing one against the Padres. Last week, But when you look at some, I I hate to bring this up, Paul. No, no. Do it was going to be some people that don't want to wake up to this. You know, I heard you got like, I've heard the combo you and Murphy had about mum. Yeah. No, no. Yeah. So this isn't a capital thing. This is more of a Farhaan thing and always remember, he's setting the tone of the data and the fax. Yeah, And I know Giants fans. We're never going to not be in love with Madison Bumgarner, right? But can we stop and say Early return. All dude so far are hard was right. I was so Oh, yeah. Yeah. Would you be feeling right now? About five years, 85 mil for a bum that can't go past 88 miles per hour. I mean, there's a big part of me do that here. I totally know what you feel. No, I'd be, but I'd be bummed upon attendance would be you know, because I do love the guy. I did watch him spin all his magic throughout those incredible postseason runs, and it was unforgettable stuff. It was it was lifetime stuff. It was Watching Bumgarner and 14 and hell, I'll even submit Bumgarner in the 2010 World Series. Go back and check that game for in Texas. Dude, he was a kid. He was a happy out there and he was out there, mon fools down. It was really, really impressive. In any case, Yeah, it's going. It would be really tough to watch Bumgarner kind of shrivel up and disintegrate. But I'm not ready to say that's going to happen yet. It is kind of alarming, though, or at least makes you sit up straight and say, like, damn velocity down. He's not hitting his spots. You know, The other funny thing about it is. People are all over him, saying he's he's put on some weight. He's a little thicker. He's not in great shape. But this whole season has been such a bizarre O R this whole year. Rather has been so just such it's hard to, you know, categorize anything is being even vaguely normal this year. You know, with the shortened season and we're all in our houses. It's all very bizarre. So I think in the long run Bumgarner will find some kind of zone that he can work at Latal P likely put it this way. Baumgartner's going to continue to compete. I don't think he's done, but he's gotten off to a really crappy start. There's no getting around that, and he and he's pitching now in an insane hitter's park. Yeah, right. And he always had bad home road splits. At least you know, in the last year, too. I haven't actually sat down to have a lengthy look at him on TV. Yes, one yet speak Tio looking looking thicker. But if he's going by the pandemic model of banana bread every day at four to me, Tio and be like, Oh, it's awful that especially and I'm wondered about you guys on these hours like my mind gets bored if we're going, you know, 23 hours, and there's nothing going on and usually 34 o'clock. It's like Yeah, well, lead something lives. We'll need something. Let's brownies right like that's that's that's what we do. It's so horrible it is. We got a little bigger than you know, Whatever I got to tell you, man. It's funny, too, Is that we over here on my side of the world like I've been. It's like a roller coaster, man. I've been up and down weight wise and there was a time, dude, I'm not even kidding. No exaggeration. I put on about 15 seriously 15 which is not That's not a small amount for baby there. And, dude, I look so stupid when I have too much weight on me because I have kind of a skinny frame when you throw a big gut on a tall, skinny guy. It's the worst luck of all time off all time. So so I did something about it. I'm like, all right, I got to get back to my work. See my big thing, Marcus. I like to swim and all of the places I go to swim the clubs there are closed, so I've had to come into some new forms of working out and stuff. So.

"Night. So if a veteran like Kevin Gausman's struggling going to his split or more often, chances are a rookie like Logan Web is going to go to that changeup more often, and where I really think we saw the maturation of Logan Web last night was his willingness to use all of his pictures. We saw him Charlie Blackmon. There was a sequence in the fourth inning that will be ingrained in my mind, probably for the rest of the season because of the dominance that Web showed against Blackman and the way that he used all three pitches to his benefit to get strikes. Against black men. He opened the bat with paint on the outside corner 93 94 2 Seamer Blackman wasn't gonna touch it. It just have that great run that you see that everyone talks about with all these highlights of young pitchers in Major League Baseball. Dustin May of the Los Angeles Dodgers is one of them where you see the 99 mile an hour two seamer with run that he threw the other night. Well, that's an unhittable pitch. Logan Webb threw at 93 94. That's a great pitch and extol strike one on Charlie Blackmon with that, And then the count went to one and one and Web breaks out the 11 even in the count changeup, and Blackman was swinging for that purple row about 550 feet from home plate at mile High Course field. Blackmon was swinging for the fences, and he was embarrassed by the changeup from Logan Web that he threw him and so gal gets to two and two and what his Web do. He goes back door with the slider against the guy who was hitting 400 on the season at the time back door slide piece gets it in the zone, and all Blackman could do was freeze. And that Was a really, really strong at that from Logan Web, So he's been exactly what the Giants need. As I've said, they're six and seven this year. Every time you're ready to count them out, they somehow come back with a victory. That says, Okay, you can't write this team off yet. It's too soon to turn the channel and find other major league Baseball games. It's too soon to focus on the MBA bubble. If you're someone who's Warriors and Giants fan, it's too soon to focus on the NFL, because quite frankly, the 40 Niners are producing any news right now. There could be George Kilner. Is today. But who knows? I just think that with the way that sports are set up right now, the Giants and the A's have everyone's attention The Bay Area because the Warriors and sharks aren't playing. The Niners aren't doing much yet in terms of physical activity, and so Everyone's tuned in. If you're watching sports, you're probably watching baseball in the Bay Area and Logan Webb. Having the strong outings is a reminder that there's a lot of talent coming through this giant's farm system. There's a lot of excitement coming through this giant's farm system and yes, it is heavy on the position. Player side. The top four prospects in the organization. Joey Barton, Marco Luciano Elliot Ramos Hunter Bishop. All of those guys could be top 4 to 6 hitters in the Giants lineup by the year 2022. But there are a few pictures worth getting excited about Logan Web chief among them Sean Sean Jelly, Seth Cory, you look at their first round or their third round draft pick this year, Kyle Harrison at a day LaSalle. The Jacks are starting to amass some name brand talent in their farm system. But you need that farm system to produce major league talent. You need that farm system to produce guys who could be dependable and for so long in the 20 tens after Madison Bumgarner came up The Giants weren't doing that. You look at the pictures they brought through whether it be like I said Andrew Suarez or Sean Anderson or Tyler bt, who just hasn't put it together yet and then you see a guy like Logan Webb, who goes out is fearless against the Colorado Rockies is fearless against the Los Angeles Dodgers Looks like he could pitch in the National League West. Had a strong out against Texas the other night, where he gave up a first pitch of the game homerun to Shin Soo Choo and then bounced back and you think, OK, this is a player who can handle adversity. This is a guy who can be a mainstay in the rotation for years to come, and I am excited to see the final 8 to 9 starts off Logan Web season. We'll get to the bullpen will get to some of Gabe catheters, managing decisions. We'll talk about this Giants offense, this giant's outfield much more to come and also a discussion about the National League West because as I mentioned last week when I was hosting this So it is a really, really fun division right now, and the Dodgers and Padres played a game on Wednesday evening that Major's made me convinced that there's so much young talent to be excited about for years to come. "Honey, don't eat off of leadoff spot, leaving with guest host a area newsgroups. Giants beat writer Kari crowd on KNBR 68 v Sports leader on that's this game started a high drive right back on the ball is Poppaea. At the wall. It isthe God swings, and he hits this one. Well, deep right center field that is on its way. And one hop up against the wall by the Giantsbullpen and belt is standing at second. With a double swing line. Drive into left centerfield base Head belt around Third Hill score and Wilmer Flores comes through in the clutch with the two out R B I single first pitch are notto hits, a high fly ball left field. Going back on. It is Dugger. He runs out a room and it's gone and he struck him out. Fastball right on the outside corner, mid thigh and the ball game is over. The Giants come from behind and beat the Rockies for three and that should do it. Good morning, Ladies and gentlemen, My name is Carrie Crowley, Filling in for Adam Copeland. Here on the leadoff spot on can be our Busy day in San Francisco. Really a cool day for the Bay Area's A PGA Tour championship kicks off at Harding Park count in my neck of the woods, the southwestern corner of the city alongside, Laker said, Really excited to see all of gulfs. Best players come to San Francisco in a time where it well, it's unfortunate that we can't go out and watch them and join them. But it will be cool to see Gulf on our televisions with a local public course on our TVs as well, So we'll talk about that later. ER, but the place that I want to start really is the Giants and as the Giants beat writer was been locked in all week on what this team has been doing a course field, I'll be locked in this morning when they play their get away game at Coors Field against the Rockies Red Hot Rocky's team by the way, the Giants only dealt them their third loss of the season on Wednesday evening. But really the place that I think that we need to start is Logan Web. The right handed rookie has been quietly very good for the San Francisco Giants so far this season, And, quite frankly, he's been exactly what they've needed because their high priced arms Johnny Cueto and Jeffs to Marja just aren't getting the job done right now. I don't think that that's a big surprise to anyone who's watched Giants baseball since 2017 when the team lost 98 games 18 4019 when they Have their second and third consecutive losing seasons. Just all of these high price. Veteran players have not been panning out lately, and so quite owns the margin. Both dealt with arm injuries as first Marja was a shoulder injury during his tenure in San Francisco. Shark will be a free Asian at the end of the 2020 season and I don't know if he'll be signing a major league contract after this year. I don't know what his desire is to play baseball after this year, but He's just kind of getting through the end right now, With his contract with San Francisco Cueto's signed through 2021 maybe if he throws together a few good starts, the Giants could pay down the rest of his salary and end up dip shipping him at the trade deadline. But they've needed someone to be a stopper. Someone to be an anchor in this rotation and so far Logan Webb has been that guy this season. You look at his three starts the Rockland native 23 years old. He's pitched three times after three Giants losses and they've won all three of those starts. You go back to Dodger Stadium, and that kind of began the trend that I think that Giants fans are going to see continue to emerge over the course of this 2020 condemned season. And that was that Webb is fearless. The Giants gotten blown out on back to back days Thursday and Friday to open the season July 23rd 24th. Think the scores were 8 to 1 and 9 to 1, and they just look non competitive. They looked like they weren't ready to win. The pitching staff was a mess. The defense was atrocious. That hasn't stopped. The bats didn't wake up at all, and they needed someone to come in and kind of give that hero performance and Logan Web did that. On Saturday, Dodger Stadium afternoon game, Fox. Broadcasting it nationally and Webb came in and threw four and 1/3 innings of one run ball. He was really sharp. He kept Dodgers hitter's off balance that day. And it said to me that we might begin to see the version of Logan Web that people in the giant's farm system. Farm director Kyle Haines, and people who have been watching him for the past few years thought that we may eventually see it the major league level. They always felt that Logan Web fourth round draft pick in 2014 Out of high school was under hyped. They thought that he was Someone who Wasn't necessarily valued in prospect rankings across baseball was never a top 100 guy and now on the radars of too many people, but they thought that Logan Web could eventually develop into a mid rotation force. Potentially even a top of the rotation force. And so he came up last year. I think it was eight starts in 2019. And there were moments of brilliance for Web no doubt has started Dodger Stadium last season, where he went six innings was a strong one has start in Atlanta. I don't know what the stats are. They don't come to mind initially, but I do remember the way that he attacked. Braves lineup That was really tough last season. The National East that stood out to me is okay. This guy's a little bit different. He's got a little bit of early career Madison Bumgarner in him, not necessarily from a pitching standpoint, but from a mentality standpoint, where he's kind of got that mentality where it does not matter who's facing him. It matters what he's doing with his catcher, what the Giants were doing with their lineup that day. And I think that Logan webs mentality has been a breath of fresh air for this team. So you look at him through three starts this season and particularly after Wednesday night's outing in Denver, and you see a guy who's got a 2.13 e R A. You see a guy who's not afraid to challenge in the zone with his fastball, and that could be so maddening with some of these young pitchers the Giants have brought up through the organization through the past two years is they come upon a star? Ders. Then they transition is two relievers when they're struggling, throw strikes and you kind of wonder. Okay, or Derek Rodriguez, Andrew Suarez, Shawn Anderson ever going to amount to anything in the major league level day? It seems like they're not starters right now, and are they relievers while Shawn Anderson seems like he could be that guy, but as for Suarez and de Raad, they're still trying to establish themselves as competent major league pitchers. With Logan Web. The role is there. The fit is there. He belongs in the starting rotation, and we saw Wednesday night in Denver going through that Rocky's lineup twice. The really strong signed to me was Nolan Aaron Otto, First time up. Guy has absolutely torched Giants pitching through the years, his 31st career home run against the Giants. On Wednesday evening. That was off Tony Watson. We'll get to that shortly, but Logan went first time up, induces soft contact. Six for three double play against Aaron Otto. Next time up. Looked like a little broken back flare out to shortstop Brandon Crawford made the leaping stag to take a hit away from Eren Otto. I think if Crawford was positioned a little deeper in the hole, it probably would have been a routine play for him, but he really had to use all of his frame to jump up there and grab that ball. But anyway, Aeronautic goes over to against Logan Web and any time you can get the Rockies best hitter out twice. It's going to set you up for success. He he ends up going five innings, two runs one earned four strikeouts. But the biggest and most important stat to me, and one that Logan Web walked away with with a lot of satisfaction was no walks. No walks for a rookie pitcher at Coors Field where your stuff plays differently. Every picture has talked about how they're breaking ball feels different at course, Field and Logan Web slider did look different. The shape looked more like a curveball last night that it has looked like the sweeping slider that we've seen since spring training, but he dealt with it, and that's what the good pitchers do. Good pitchers overcome the challenges, of course field. They overcome the challenges presented by the Colorado Rockies lineup and Logan Web show that he could use that slider effectively. And he showed that he wasn't afraid to break out the changeup more consistently than he had been in his 1st 2 starts because pitchers have a little bit more control over the changeup than they do their breaking balls in the altitude. It's just something that AH, lot of fishers have noticed through the years, Kevin Gausman felt that On Tuesday evening at course field Kevin Gausman, the Colorado native grew up pitching in Colorado didn't really have a feel for his slider. Who watches he gave up a home run to Nolan Aaron Otto, with the slide piece that just backed up on him got way inside and Aaron Auto broke out the one iron on Tuesday night. So if a veteran like Kevin Gausman's struggling going to his split or more often, chances are a rookie like Logan Web is going to go to that changeup more often, and where I really think we saw.

"Looking at the Oakland A's They play defense like nobody's business. I'm looking at Chicago Cubs the year they won the world serious with sort of this model. Incredible defense. Dodgers play good defense. Astros to a degree play pretty good defense. Hard to win a major league baseball games. When you don't have a good defense and beginning it tonight, you think it's OK? They've already dropped two games. They're in Colorado. That's usually problematic. This is not a team that's built for the Colorado air. And you think to yourself man, A Buddha one to begin with No one there or not, is going to get four at bats. Here we go again, and now you're own three to start a road trip. You got the Dodgers and the Astros After that, Plus, you get to come home and play the A's. And you know those games are going to be tough. They don't have an easy one. And that's considering the Angels to be easy. They only have Mike Trout. I don't have an easy one for a couple of weeks. Start knowing three No Bueno. It tells you a lot about Logan Web and what he's got going on between the ears. And why? I think he could be a really solid starter for this team going forward. Again. Not in a ce, not the number one not to do that. You're like He's on the mound. It's over. Don't even show up to the ballpark. Just a steady do you know you can give you six or guess? Five. In this era of baseball, you know he's going to keep it. He's going to give you quality starts. I don't know what the quality starts going to look like in 2021 or 2022. Who knows what we even have baseball in. Who knows what's going on in the world, then? If this guy has number three written all over him, Number three for a good team. We talk about that all the time, Right? Talk about that basketball. Talk about that with warriors. Eric Paschal. Really nice player. He's the best player on your team. You got a problem. He's the eighth best player on your team, you might win a championship. Logan Web. He's the best pitcher on the San Francisco Giants right now starting pitcher That's not awesome. It's great for Logan Web. It's great for the long term future of the San Francisco Giants. Not awesome for the present day Giants it be great if someone else could supplant him. You know somebody who's being paid a lot of money to do something like that. Man down the line. Giants are gonna get gas. I'm going to able to sign guys, They're going to be able to make more trades and get good guys. That avenue. You know, you know Farhaan is going to find one or two. He's just going to go into the couch. Bring up some change. Suddenly, that's oh, that's a very rare Rare coin. It's worth $1400. You just thought it was a penny. How Mikey Stream skis on the like You strips you might be the National League MVP. The Giants are in a place right now. I haven't checked the latest scores. Maybe I should get on that. I'm looking at it and you go when the Giants are in second, the last place in the National League West. Guess what, Buddy? They're in the eighth spot. They're in the playoffs if the season ends today. And that's not really a hypothetical in baseball in 2020 They make the postseason did that. And listen, if they started the postseason right now, you know who would be on the mound. Logan Web. Really nice start for him. 68 pitches, 50 strikes, no walks, four strikeouts, four hits allowed believe they were all singles. That's what that's what a really good number three picture does, man. Just gets you to the next day without having distress. That's AH, That's something that's been missing from the Giants if we're being totally honest, Craig in Arizona's been patiently waiting. Let's talk to Craig in Arizona. How you feeling about the wind, Craig? I thought it was pretty damn good. What do you think? A theatre like Mark Willard, You are a great sports psychologists..

"Marquet, Simon says on Twitter. Mark, How are you today? Good to talk to you. Ryan. Good. I'm hanging in there much like baseball. Yeah, pretty much. I know You've been very busy all week. Um Mike. It's strep ski and I you joked about it. When we started the season, said Well for the Giants to do anything, he'd have to have an M V P season and way kid about this when you're on, but he's having another tremendous week. Yeah, it is crazy. There are ways geometrically to evaluate like the importance of plate appearance in a game and you have your high leverage one this week for your moments like where he gets the game winning home run well, where he gets to hit me a thinning in a big spot. And so far this season in his eight most important situations that he's faced this year. He's four for five with the triple homerun in three walks. Wow, doing better than that. It's like bonds. Wow. Well, no example. But that's that's crazy. He starts swinging at bad pitches. He's taking walks now. Hey, just seems to have a very comfortable look at the plate. Like kind of a look of a guy who says I know I belong here and I know that I'm going to be pretty good. So Maybe he's defying with those preseason projection numbers were for him. Oh, interesting now, Solano to and I know I talked about projections today 162 game projections with crazy numbers, But it puts a perspective on the starts that they're both having. What about fur Salon? A. What do you see for him? Yeah, So it's funny When you contrast it with, like 100. No, you know the over a 1,000,000,000 mode. Both of them have had four balls hit, where the chance of it being a hit range from 40% to 60%. Donovan Solano got hits on all four of those balls. Hunter. Pence got hits on none of them. So there's a little bit of a good fortune ish aspect to it, but it certainly looks like you picked up where he left off the FBI totals. Great certainly on, he's hitting the ball pretty well, and he's doing it. I think everything you hoped that he could do it over a full season Last year, there were essentially what amounted to a happier of steps. Oh, and the great Mark, you know you watch the Giants. They've got nine games. The starter is not gone five innings yet It's a major league record. It's crazy, but it's true. Maybe so, Margit today will be different. Bullpen. They've thrown more bullpen innings and anybody in baseball Can you live like this? Maybe first, I guess for 60 games, 30 games. So what are the numbers tell you about a little bit of the bullpen use and five relievers in a game and that kind of stuff? Yeah, I just don't think that they're that those guys were good enough to do that. It's just the odds of getting what they got the other night where five guys pitched a scoreless inning like that doesn't happen. That's one of those things that you have to have either. Like a couple of years ago that Royals kind of both in O R. You need to be kind of The fortunate Now I think that one or two of those guys Will show themselves and you would think that Rogers would be better than what he's been so far. I think they've exceeded expectations. Certainly on that front on DA Shoot at this point, But if you refuted five and four after nine games the way that you know everything kind of started I would have felt pretty good. Well, they've got six left these in the pen as well. And I with Ron Motors. We talked about one. The Peralta Now, This is guy with a good arm and I mentioned his name and you could pull him up on the computer because I want to ask you a little bit about want the Peralta as as you're doing that, But, um he's got the kind of arm and it looks like he could pitch all the time. And he could be a very valuable part of this bullpen. The lefty side of the bullpen has been outstanding. Yeah, well, this is what we said that it was kind of going to be this year. You could have a couple of the scenes that run these experiments with certain interest, which is deep and the reliever. U Turn through 15 guys. Susan. Hey, throws the slider lot. You helped his farm states healthy from that. Throws a lot of change up. The thing that that he's changed the last couple of years is he's much less reliant on the fastball. He just loves the up with sliders and changeups. I guess it's kind of like an Oliver Perez esque kind of thing. The way that that he's been now on Oliver presents in a good middle reliever for a few years ago. You just hope that he can get guys out from both sides of the plate. On. I think he would say that about just any lefty and you have to be happy with a guy who has had 11 bolted against them and only two men in the air. That's pretty good. Well, he's been terrific. You know, It's funny and again. I don't like to throw things at you, You know, sort of haphazardly. But Logan Web and Kevin Gausman the changeup save them because neither one had any fastball command. And all of a sudden they got that 84 83 mile an hour pitch and it looks like that. That's the pitch to get people out with. That's the one that everyone's geared up for 97 98 95. And if you Khun Command that changeup and have a good changeup, you could get away with it. And for Logan weapon Gausman, they struggled until they realized the changeup was the pitch. Yeah, Logan Web showing that he's going to throw more this year. And I guess you could say his lead. One of the least harmful pitches at this point because of the tests was getting knocked around. Guzman has that split. That can be very effective and has been very effective in the past..
