"About it, but they still have two really good sentiment in Thomas hurdle and Logan couture. So if they decide to move, eckland, up and down the lineup, he is going to play with a really good set of men. And hurdle is somebody originally that I thought, man, you know what? It kind of stinks, losing, losing Timo Meyer, am I going to want to hold this guy? Like, who is he going to play with? It's the first couple of games that have a Timo Meyer. He didn't really have great linemates, and then they call up Ekland. You mentioned the three games averaging 19 minutes per game as the assist has 5 shots, had some shot attempts. We're going to play on the power play as a guy that's going to probably live in that 1819 minute range, whether it's with hurdle, or whether it's with good sure. So I love the call. I think he is another really great get in keeper leagues and dynasty leagues. That's what I mentioned off the top. If you're not going to make the playoffs, unfortunately, you can really get a guy like this if you weren't quick to the wave of wire to grab him. You know, maybe somebody up at the top of the standings has a loaded roster and they need help elsewhere. Maybe you can get a young player like this who is definitely going to have a significant role moving forward with this sandals as they shark seam. So absolutely love the call. Yeah, how earlier this year I had Jack Hahn in the podcast and he was talking about how something the sharks were doing was because of Eric Carlson's playing style and how aggressive it is. They were trying to match up his minutes with Thomas hurdles a lot because hurdles just like so reliable defensively and was sort of stepping back and basically being the last Mad Max. Sometimes when Carl said would dash up the ice and trying to sort of have their cake and eat it that too in that regard. And so if it is going to play with hurdle, that also means he's going to be on the ice with Carlson a lot. And we don't typically think about shared forward defenseman minutes, but in this case, with Carlson basically being a fourth forward you in an elite one at that, I love the idea of him sharing the ice with him because we know that Carlson is going to get him in the park in great areas to convert from. And so it's kind of a dream landing spot for him. So even if the 5 one 5 numbers or the goals here or anything doesn't look ideal, I think the scoring opportunities are going to be there. So I like him quite a bit. Okay, we have time for one more take care before we go to break. So I think it is your turn. I'll give you another just low key name and kind of the same sort of thing as opportunity on a team that's still they're fighting for a playoff spot and not as not like the sharks but the Nashville predators and Tommy Novak and Tommy Novak is just kind of been on my radar a little bit from a prop standpoint and a deep league of 14 team league and just looking at the remaining games laugh Nashville has the most games left. They have the second most games from a three week span depending on your format in a Yahoo league or ESP again setting, which is key.

"What are they going to trade them for all this stuff? I guess you really have to reconcile that if you do trade them assuming it's going to be purely for futures. That is going to create such a tremendous whole and that might not matter because even with him playing well so well so far this season, there's 7 13 and four so it's not like it's gotten them that far and necessarily. But I think it's important to kind of contextualize how important of a mainstay he's been for this team this past two seasons. Yeah, and you know, I need to be careful. You know, like when you watch one team every night, you get into echo chamber, right? And Meyer has been so dominant. Hey, maybe it's because the sharks are, as you noted, are not very good. And so they need to give them, they need them to take over that shot chair, that sort of thing, right? But the last couple of years I noticed with hikma that any line you put them on has immediately become the sharks best offensive line. You know, last year he started a season with Logan couture and Jonathan Dolan. And that was through the first month, the sharks best lying. You know, Jon and Dahl and people were talking about him being a call their candidate. And once they took team off that line, both Logan couture's numbers and Jonathan Dolan's numbers fell in couture's defense, you know, basically, if you take Mario away from them, the sharks have a lot of sort of suboptimal offensive wingers to put to place with a couture. But anyway, Meyer is the kind of guy that I believe. And again, this is the echo chamber part. Maybe I'll be proven wrong if you put them on a different team. But you put them on whatever line you put them on, you give them a semi competent center and that's going to be a legit top 6 scoring line. And again, that's not something that I think you can say about a lot of players in this league. It just sort of the variety of skills that you know has in terms of just carrying the puck up from one end to the other and creating space. You know, obviously when he's creating shock for himself and just like Eric Carlson, he's not just creating space for himself if the defense is focused on a team of art that creates space for everybody else. And so again, there aren't a lot of players. Again, you put them on a line that you have an instant kind of an instant offense line. And so I'm actually curious to see, obviously, like watching T mo and I like dealing with email, so I would love for him to stay on the sharks. But I would be curious to see though if he has that same kind of effect in another city.

"Be in it, how much stock we should put into it, how concerned we should potentially be about it. Ryan, let's stick with the theme of talking about young players and let's talk a little bit about the Conrad sweepstakes here. I know a very exciting topic for fans of teams one or two weeks into the seasons already be thinking ahead like this. But I have to say, you know, I don't know how heading into the season, I feel like coyotes, Blackhawks, potentially Canadians, flyers, those last two have actually looked quite encouraging to start the year. I think we very, very firmly and definitively need to put the San Jose sharks not only amongst that group, but arguably at the top of it based on how they look to start the season. Yeah. And that's a bit of a surprise, I think a lot of us would have said Arizona and Chicago and a runaway and as much as people want to bag on the flyers. For what they did this summer, I think it's totally reasonable to expect them to finish like 21st or whatever. That seems like the John tortorella system. There's a level of confidence. Yeah, that's right. And so yes, boy, these sharks think, man. I don't know what to say. I don't know what else to say. They are unbelievably bad. And I think the reason they kind of snuck up on everybody here is you look at their roster and it's like, oh, those are like some pretty good players, right? Maybe Logan couture is a little bit past it, but they got like emo Mayer. Yeah, Tomas hurdle, right? Just like maybe not young is the right word anymore, but like guys, you should be excited about, you know? And I think the other thing is you would have said, oh, I bet their goaltending can be somewhat confident. Cabo cacan and James reimer, those are both goalies that even if you're not like, oh, those guys are really solid. I think you would say, they can be like average in behind a team that maybe isn't great defensively or whatever. How about this? James reimer 9 19 in his three games. He faced a 111 shots he's allowed 9 goals and he's Owen three. Yeah. It doesn't even matter if the goaltending is good, because that's how bad the team is. You mentioned some of those four is. I don't know if you've already been looking at their depth chart. Can you name the 12 words they're currently using? I know when I looked at it yesterday, I was like, oh, I feel like any time a team is led at any point in the season in scoring by evgeny fetching a car that's bad. I know, let's see here. Who else do I know that they have? They got Stephen Lawrence. That's a guy I looked at over the summer or like just a week or two ago because I thought he might have a brother who was playing college hockey. They were unrelated to

"So much for doing this. Great space mentally physically as well. Best of luck with the jets. You're very much room with mark. Safe with the winnipeg jets and lots to get to with you whether it's the nhl. And i would imagine. We're going to get into some type of olympic conversation at some point in the next fifteen minutes but you were just telling the story before we went to air about skating in a very small town in ontario with a rich history of things like the donnelly family and for nhl fans the the birthplace of logan couture of the san jose sharks. What's the story of skating and lucan ontario. Yes so adam. Oates will his family's from toronto area and then His wife's family's actually from kitchener so his wife's family were up. Goddard area like grand for kind of like a little holiday. So they they were there for the week and then ryan riley lives in god rich and i was living in kitchener so i don't know how they found license or ice in lucan antero. But what was the rick leg honestly. It was actually really nice outside. Looked like it was like a barn but the inside actually had kinda nice seating kind of the kind of revamp to the ice was actually fantastic. That would be hockey villa. I think right. Yes that's right. Yeah so i think it was about a forty five minute drive for me Kind of all down bunch of back roads driving through the country so kind of a funny place to skate. But you know had some good skates with a riley and and not and had breakfast at this really weird spot with them and enjoy. Fishing came the one day. We all went up for breakfast with with him. And then o'reilly's dad came to so high weird story but you know a good week skating. I'm betting adam didn't pay for breakfast. He did actually did once he paid for. This is the biggest upset ever. I know he Once in a while you gotta you actually. I can't say he's he's paid for a good amount of dinners for me. I think i've i've i've usually taken the really big ones. But he's taking care of a lot of a lot of dinners for me so i can't give him any slack for it because every time i pull my wallet he does the fake coffin pretenders dust coming out of it and i might go so It's got the onion wallet every time. He opens any cry site. I know that all too. Well what is the boast. We strangest as a not the right word. But i'm gonna use it anyway. The strangest place you've ever played in. You played in so many rigs mark Is there one that comes to mind. Like how did i end up here. I think one was probably in yaroslava. L- like it was a candidate russia's series it was the summer of my second world junior year And we did this. I canada russia series four gate. Or how many games he played in russia and then we played games in halifax and we are in euros level and i remember there was one meal where they actually served like fish heads to us. It was actually a nice hotel is really weird. Spot and it was really close to the rink. There you're playing at and there was a mcdonalds. Close right beside in this mcdonalds might have been the busiest place in all of your slava because like every night it was just bumping like line out the out the door and the one day there was fish. Heads in our coaches steve spot. And he's guys you guys aren't eating this go to mcdonalds enjoy enjoy. Enjoy yourself tonight. So we have. We have like twenty. Three guys. Walk over to mcdonald's and obviously none of us speak russian so we have like the menu and we're like pointing were like it was. It was pretty funny so that. That's probably one of the strangest spots we were. Just with pure. Luke dubois. And i don't know how much you've had a chance to chat with them this off season but he. He's he looks and sounds like a new man. He went through a a real roller coaster of a season last year. Have you talked to him much this off season because he just appears to be much better head space. Yeah i've talked him a little bit and he says you know. He says he feels great. I know Our our strength coach went over went to montreal to see him and he came back and said how in great shape be looks and he's been skating a lot. Actually i saw dube's dad on the golf course. The other day in winnipeg and we were just talking. I'd asked how you know how summer was and you know how much you've seen them or how much you've talked to him and he was like he's actually skated the most he's ever skated in a summer. So you know. I've i've only talked to him a little bit. But from what he said he feels great I'm sure he's ready for regular season. You know not like last year. Like i couldn't imagine you know what he went through. All the you know throughout the summer to start the year and then all of a sudden you the whole quarantine thing Mid season would be sounds awful getting back into shape. You know we got hurt getting back into shape all that all that stuff. So i'm sure he's looking forward to getting winnipeg in settling in and getting to skate and work out and get ready before camp so i know we're all excited. I know i'm excited to see to see him this year. You know he's he's a fantastic player and new. You went through a lot of adversity. You know from the sounds of know from when i've talked to me. Sounds like he's ready for a good season. So i think that adversity when you take about when you take that the right way and you work hard..

"Of the youngsters. And he'll say between levine booker mitchell and it doesn't go any for those egos rudy gobert. Park your s in the paint baby. And so then i think. Lebron goes devon booker who lebron called him. The most disrespected player in the nba. So you know. He's got a fondness for him right there back with team. Durant donovan mitchell. Lebron gets zach levine. And then we get down to the end. Who will be the last pick. We're not there yet. But i would say durant goes jalen brown and just to take the other side of the east river. Lebron goes julius. Randle durant goes d'amato sa- bonus and then the very last pick. Nicole of usa bitch ends up with team. Lebron and i think if you think about the last guy picked on the all star game is that something bad remember when the nhl had this and this was like eight years ago they had a draft and they said whoever gets picked last. It's a free car was a real thing and it was logan couture the sharks because he was a rookie and he was the very last pick and i thought can you make me pick on a stupid all star game. I'm still on the teen. That's not too bad. So i think if you look at these final rosters. I'm more excited about it. Now if you if steph curry and lebron aren't on the same team. I didn't know i cared this much honestly until i started looking at this. But if they're on separate teams again come on. "Are committed to change that. I shot to save that they got our tone much hurdle with the first goal of the year. It's on the power play. And the sharks. Take the Lino back A Murph in Mac on KNBR, 1045 and 6 80 these sports leader, Polly, Let's get some pock on man's do it, Man. I can't believe we got this. Will you know why we haven't seen the Sharks? In like a year and a half. No one tell they've been dealt a pretty tough hand here, man. It's like getting kicked out of your home. Kind of like what the Niners went through. You know, we saw the same thing, Well, ending an epically long road trip and actually coming home to San Jose is reason enough to have the voice of the Sharks. We love him. Of course, the TV voice of the Sharks Randy Han on the Murph in Max Show on the Yuma gas lines, So he ready Welcome back to the show has been too long. Can't believe the sharks are back in town. It's been about 15 years since they've been in the arena. How are you, Randy? Morning Ready? I'm doing well, just a little bit of last night's loss Hangover. But that goes away after a few hours, but he has been a long time. Between the end of last season, and then the start of this one. The Sharks went over 300 days between games and now, with this long stretch of games to start the road, it's on the road. It's gonna be close to 350 days since they've been it s safety center. So I'm really excited to be back there on Saturday after him. I can't wait to have you guys back and in the players to just I mean Lewis. First I'll back up a little bit. This this road trip. I mean, 56 and one right on a 12 game road trip. Is it fair to say that that's All things considered not a tragic outcome. I think from the outside, that's fair, and I certainly look at it that way. They had a chance to finish above 500 with win last night that didn't work out, but they still basically hover around 500 going through the longest. Road trip to start a season in NHL history, and that's 100 some years old. So that was a rather epic beginning and to at least be in the hunt for a playoff spot, which is what it's all about Their four points out right now, after that stretch, I think is okay internally, and if you listen to Logan to tour the captain, they're not happy. They feel they should have done better. There was a break of a week long because of some covert protocol problems for Vegas. There an inability to play it would have only been an eight game road trip. Had Vegas been able The play, but they had to take some time down to get well again and that resulted in the sharks being off for a week. So the guys don't really feel like it was 12 in a row on the road. They played eight that they came home that they played four so they're trying to stay out of the excuse business and they feel like they should have done better. You know, Randy, I just want to talk about the shark goaltending a little bit Martin Jones, and in particular, you know, uh, watching it between the pipes, you know, and seeing him get pulled again. That's the third time. You know, Jones has been pulled this year and then those three times of all, um, translated into shark losses, But I guess my question is When a goaltender like Jones, who's used to being out there sees himself getting pulled. You know, three of the eight games he started this year. What does that do to a goaltender's confidence? If anything, I mean, can that rattle Ah, goaltender psyche? Well, sure it can. And but I think one of the keys to getting to the level of the NHL is a goaltender is that you have to learn how to forget that least within the moment of the game. You have to forget the goal that just went in and bear down on the next shot. You're going to face and you talk to any NHL goalie, and that's the money and said, And that's the sub Pete Over a prolonged period. Of course, that's gonna wear you down. If that keeps happening. Jones didn't have a good night last night. Jones didn't have a good year last year, but neither did the The defensive structure in front of them, and it's never usually just the guy that Z the problem when when a goalie has itself tonight, it's the quality of shots he's facing. It's it's a combination, but certainly the Sharks need better goaltending all around, and particularly to Mark Jones. Absolutely. I'm talking to Randy Han is the Sharks Come home for the first time in forever? You said it was what 300. What was the number since the last time they skated ASAP? Well, it was 309 days between actual games and then you throw in the 1st 12 on the road. So you know, it's been forever almost almost a calendar year. They get to take on the Vegas Golden Knights afternoon affair yesterday or tomorrow. One o'clock at S A P down in San Jose. I wanna go macro here because you know, for a lot of fans. They've been disconnected from the sharks for a long time. And then they haven't been in the arena. I know the fans can't get into the arena yet, but just to kind of go macro. I mean, we talked about the road trip, talked about the goaltending, but this roster This team these expectations. How would you like if somebody's like, Hey, man, that I've lost track of the shark's After that long lay off one of the realistic expectations for this team. And right now, I mean, I know they still have the stars. We still have hurdle and could sure and cane. But is there you know any concern about the depth of the roster and kind of what they can accomplish this year? Well speaking macro. I think this is really a team that is still in transition. So many sharks fans that may not be the hardcore, but more of the casual fan will think of this as the chilled sorting team or the joke Ravel Ski Team or the Patrick Marleau team. Thornton's gone off to Toronto. Pavelski has gone on to Dallas and And Marlowe's 41. He's in the waning years of what has been a remarkable Hall of Fame career. So you know it's a transition and it's now Logan Couture team. It's a Tomas Hertl team. And you know, so on and so on on down the line As far as death goes, I don't think the sharks are a deep team. This is not a team built this year to make a Stanley Cup one. I don't think they could stun us and surprise us. We've seen it before..

Setup has not changed so far but except for separating people but in addition to this the league is asking teams now to bring air cleaners to kit. The air circulated Also players and coaches are not allowed to arrive until an hour forty five before the puck drops. And you talk some hockey players if they'll get there for the morning skate and they won't go back home they'll just lay around and lift weights or whatever but that's because as i mentioned the nfl nhl see a huge uptick. The the wild hat five more players on the list. They postponed four games. Colorado added another one. New jersey had four buffalo had to sabres and the devils had their series. Saturday and last night called off as well so i. I don't know if the late arrival and the air flow is going to help but at least the nhl looking for something. Well they've got a burgeoning problem here. I mean it's been a problem for for year for everybody and they were able to deal with this can. The bubble did a great job and in toronto and edmonton for the for More games in the summer right now. Here's the latest today the flyers now after go on hiatus for a bit. So now you're talking about five teams and you're missing chunks of games and there's a domino effect. It's all the teams they're playing so the caps are getting ready to play the flyers tonight. Okay there post on and all the teams the flyers to play the next few days and this goes for the teams in buffalo on the devils and wild agean. All i mean it's it it. It's a domino effect. And i think they're a little little worried right now about the integrity of this. The schedule here what they might have to do. There is a offer that they built in between the end of the regular season. And the start of the playoffs Which i think is now probably going to be filled with games There's one other factor here. That the nhl and i and this sort of well hockey capital angered by They really wanted to get this stuff done. The season done before the olympics started. And part of that is nbc. With the olympics one we olympics are still a little bit of doubt and too i. I didn't see anybody. I didn't talk to one person who missed no olympic summer You know there's sort of a nuisance address my own opinion of fix and they might even have it this this year in tokyo so But the nhl has had to you know work around summer olympics thing for tv purposes. And they've had to jam the thing a little bit sooner would be better if they had more of the summer to finish believe that they had you. They're trying to finish before where they thought. The olympics are going to go and put themselves in a little box A couple more questions for bruce marshall with the gold sheet the sharks couple years ago made a huge decision about where they were going to spend their money and they had already put a lot of money into martin jones and rep burns and Mark edward vlasic. They decided to hold onto some rentals in the as nine and sixty five. But that meant showing the door to joe pavelski and then giving the seat to logan couture and pavel ski going to dallas. You know almost was able to win a stanley cup in the end and he played okay but now thirty six years old. He's playing out of his mind. He's basically the best player in the in the central division right now. Twenty three points did. Did you see this coming. and how. How much do you think the sharks would like to have used that money. They'll ski instead. Oh yeah i think they would say him back. You still got hockey left in him. I mean i didn't know that he'd be the best player in the central like has never i. He was still good good enough last year and he got better as the season on with dallas and then y- performed pretty well the playoffs too. But you're right. I mean they had to make some discerning jordan's gonna to how much useless let joe had plus forty but It's not quite the same sharks. They committed a lot of money. There across Dander cain But the g general though. I mean they've had to start peeling off some of the core guys and They haven't really been able to place. And i think they're looking at more of redo after this year. The mentioned before it reminds me of the ducks a couple of years ago. Who a serious contender up. Until a couple of years ago and then they just had to go completely build the whole thing. The sharks are running about two years to three years. Where the ducks were. I'm afraid and they may have to make complete clean out. You know even if they make the playoffs this year. I'm not sure they are with i don't like the trajectory for the sharks at all no other kind of treading water here not really going anywhere last hockey question for you Just as just for fun about how. Who's hot and in between the pipes. i'll give you a choice of the four. Probably top goalies right now for one game and you tell me who you want. You can either have Varlamov of the isles or you can have ordered. I write it down now. Are you can have connor. Hell book of course with The winnipeg jets and you can have vasilevskiy with The world champs. Or i'll give you grew our with the launch. Which of those four would you take. High celeski I'll take him off stanley cup but he's he is one goalie in early going. She some goalies have some issues early on here. He's playing well and why game look at somebody who's goals against rate increasing games. I mean they're they're they're scoring much against him. Lot of that is him. So i would save s. Alaska would be my guy and I try. I think. I think he wanted to but i i think he would be my number one guy if give me one going for one game it's you say percentage down nine thirty one out of two hundred and forty eight shots. He's only let in seventeen and nine games. all right. what is going we know. We've wrapped up the super bowl and the crazy props.

Tom wilson seventeen Saturday Mark edward vlasic last year today olympics martin jones Patty marlow Colorado Twenty three points rep burns dallas Wilson friday patti marlow last night toronto let joe bruce marshall

Here we go. Here's today's installment, Aaron Rodgers. He's out here. He threw some cold water on the 40 Niner. Rumors, actually. He had an appearance on the Pat McAfee show. In fact, I believe copes if I'm not mistaken. We've got some Aaron Rodgers on McAfee sound right here. I don't feel like I said anything that I hadn't said before. You know, I said it the first time I talked to the media just even more really realization. I think that ultimately my future is not necessarily in my control. I don't think that there's any reason why I wouldn't be back. But There's not many absolutes as you guys know, in this business. My future is not in my hands. Now. That's really the case for all of us. I think his players what is he talking philosophy now? Like, what are we getting into here? Some abstract thoughts like is your future in your hand. Holly, do you control your own future? I mean, who knows? I don't know. How can I answer that question? What is life? What is the meaning of life? Why we're here. Live with pain. You know, life is pass rush his life. Yeah, past rushes. Bosa, you know, he says, I don't think there's any reason I wouldn't be back. It's very abstract. That pretty much end that. Yeah, well, actually too well. So to that point, Murph, Here's a little bit more. How about Packer President Mark Murphy? He went on W. T A Q radio in Wisconsin. He said. Quote. "Right s literally. Yeah, get involved. All right, kids moving on to number five centers of sharks. Yeah, the NHL's rolling again, Uh, structure of ST Louis Yesterday they had a lead at 1.2 Nothing. Then they had another 32 lead against the ST Louis Blues, but they couldn't hold on in the final period. They coughed up. Excuse me. Ah, couple of third period goals. They wind up taking the 54 lost. Logan Couture had a couple of goals and assists. San Jose's long opening season season opening road trip. Excuse me stays in ST Louis. They're gonna do another one tomorrow night against the ST Louis Blues and, Ah little sound little gold package for you from the Sharks at 26 in the short season last year, they scar Deflection in the slot. I believe it's Kevin Will bank and the sharks take a one Nothing lead. It's burns again. Creeps down. The board gets it into hurdle. And they scar Logan can sure beautiful puck movement on the power play makes it too nothing. Caine. He's got majorities got burns on. He's gotta go, friend. Turner's goes upstairs a power play goal to make it three to their shit. That'll get to the side. They score, Logan can sure and we're tied for four. Like they're already on their but totally always good to hear the sharks have to get a little gold package there from Coach. Good work again. Sharks off today they go against Blues again tomorrow. Murph number four, ramping up now for the FC and NFC championship Games on Sunday, all eyes really all eyes on Casey quarterback Patrick Mahomes. And his status in the concussion. Protocol. Chief coach Andy Reid declined to speculate on whether Mahomes will be clear to me is really impossible to you. You just don't know. Also, the NFL announced there will be no annual combine in Indianapolis. Because of the covert protocol, obviously, but let's go back. We've got a We've got some sound here from Reed because of the protocol. We are. It's a no brainer from the coaches family. You don't have to think about it. You just have to go forward and make sure you have an answer. If he's there and answer it is not there. I can't tell you medical standpoint. Where is that? I mean, I don't know that. "It run the roster last year that killed penalties are both gone. Barkley Good role went to do a Tampa and want to Stanley Cup and you know, in Melker Carlson is back in Sweden. This year, though, they were really important to the Sharks. PK. So how do you replace that? Well, one thing that you do is you bring back Matt Nieto was playing Colorado the last couple of years. He knows the system. He's got that tenacity on the penalty kills an important part of his game, and so he can slide right in there. The other guy that I'm interested to see if he's going to be a part of it is Ryan Donato. It was acquired from the You know Minnesota over the course of the summer. You may remember his dad. Ted Donato, who's the head coach at Harvard and was his coach when he played it Harvard and he's somebody that has speed. He's crafty. He's got tenacity, and he was one of the leading scores actually even strength from Minnesota last year, but he does play on the P K a little bit, so I think that's gonna be fascinating on the power play. What they really need is obviously they're going to generate the offense from Burns and Erik Karlsson, primarily getting things toward the net sometimes scoring themselves. But that's where Logan Couture and Tomas heard Lenny Evander Kane and team all mired. Kevin Love Banker. Five of the top six Forwards are really gonna have to contribute a little bit more, and I think it's a big year for the bank Admire. In my opinion, Kane obviously scored 26 schools. Last year. He was on his way to 30, so he's going to score goals. No question. And hurdles. Another guy that I think is going to step forward in terms of his leadership because this guy is a monster in terms of controlling the puck making big plays so I'm looking at those players on the power play to be the contributors upfront to complement what Burns and Carlson they're doing to get it to him. Sammy, what do you think of the new format this year with the four divisions? You know 56 games instead of 82, all the Canadian teams in the same Scotia North Division. What do think of the format? Well in terms of the sponsorship. Gary Bettman obviously described. That is not a way to generate revenue but to preserve it. And that is obviously take care of some of the best sponsors to make sure they're in a position where normally they would be in an arena with the jam packed fans. Now they're gonna have a presence, you know, in Uh, Internet newspaper sites and and on television and so forth, And, of course on radio, um, as far as the way that they set it up, I think it's the best way to do it. The 56 game schedule is not that different from some of the other schedules we've had when there's been a lockout and delayed the season to January, so they're gonna be a lot of three games and four nights, but what we've seen to that that's a little different with this. Is that there are a number of serious that they're going to be played. For instance, This is a game tonight against Arizona will Saturday afternoon, two teams were playing again and we often see the teams, you know, playing one game and leaving going to the next city right away. I think, in part to, uh to be as precautionary is possible with current health situation but also To encourage that rivalry and so forth. We're seeing Maura of what we normally are able to observe in the playoffs, where you play a couple of games. There's you know, obviously the playoff series many more in a row against the same team. And then you got all those games in the same division that harkens back to when the NHL had only six teams, and they would play all of their five opponents, seven at home and seven away 14 times. It's no wonder John Ferguson and Teddy Green. We're fighting it every weekend. Actually, Boston Garden. You know, President didn't deal with each other on that. So I think it's exciting, I think is gonna be intense. I think we're gonna have Ah, You know, a lot of it's going to be a little strange early because we had no preseason. You know, last night the NHL opened up in all kinds of goals scored. That was that was something that was jumping out at me. And that usually does happen the beginning of the year. But Think it Xena. Be great. It's gonna be intense. It's going to be fun. And, of course, you know for the fans. It'll be away Tomo to at least enjoy the game again. And as we get close to the normal and hopefully before the year is over. We might actually get to a point where we might be able to see some fans. I have my doubts about that. But at least I have the hope. Janet, this team's going toe, make the playoffs. Uh, what do you think Their personality is gonna end up being Team that's defensively responsible. Team that is opportunistic with the talent that they have. And I think that that second part is going to be really important because you know the hockey's a reading react game is, you know, and I think that that they read it pretty well last year. But their reactions not necessarily where were they were supposed to be. And Bob Boone has been working on that since he became coach during the middle of the year, and I think that that's something they're gonna have to do. They have to get off to a good start. There's no question and they've got to put the puck in the net a little bit more. Which means they have to have possession. With these guys they have on the roster. There's no reason why they shouldn't do that with, you know, leadership of people like Logan to cure who I think is going to be a developing into a outstanding captain. He's already doing that, but I think he's going to develop even more..

"Lot of that at the S A P Center this year. Sharks getting started tonight, taking on the Coyotes on Phoenix as good a time as any to talk to Dan Rucinsky voice to the Sharks on these Sharks audio network. And joins us on the only guest line here in the Tolbert, Kruger and Brooks show, Dan Thank you for joining us. Happy New Year. I think it's still appropriate to say that one of the 14 days into it where you appreciate you hanging out with us. Absolutely. It's just great to be talking hockey. Ganda. Great crew guys ride. Nice to be with you, Larry. Hello. I'm talking Fantastic. Hello, Dan. So when people talk about these sharks, you know and previews or what have you? It's either you know what they could make the playoffs. You know, they got some names. I got some guys. I got some issues, but they have enough. Scoring and defense where they could do it. And then there are other people who say they've got no chance. You would think that the truth would lie somewhere in the middle, but there is no middle between making the playoffs and you got no chance on making the playoffs. Who are these guys? Because we know the names we know burns. We know. Hurdle in myrrh and and could sure But do they have enough Gold Tinning? Do they have enough depth? Who are these guys and one of the actual chances? As we know, at the very start of the regular season, everybody's gonna win the Stanley Cup from the drop of a personal fuck 5 10 games in you Got it all figured out. That's just the way it always, you know, e guess you could say the call. Call it the right of January is opposed to the rite of fall passage. Because I mean, you know, you hear the sticks on the pucks and the sounds of escapes and everything course All of that will be somewhat virtual. For us. This year is the way that the games are. We'll get to that later, but You know, I think that this is a BRI good hockey team that a bad year last year, and that's that's that's basically what we're talking about. Is it the same team that went to the conference final A couple of years ago? Order the finals in 2016? No, it's a team in somewhat of a transition, but still Thorton at age 41 leaving And with, you know the changing of the guard a little bit in the leadership with Joe Kovalski going to Dallas last year. Those were two big things, along with a variety of massive injuries that We're not exactly well time for the sake club, given the fact that they were integrating some young people into the roster, But all that's you know, beyond the team. Now they've got some experience with these kids. Mario Ferraro last year was a real revelation in terms of a young player being able to come into the NHL in tonight's on Leonard's another guy like that out of University of Massachusetts. Playing his first NHL game, and everybody is saying that this is a crafty hockey player. That's gonna help and again, a guy under the radar along with a variety of other players you've heard of in the in the Bay Area. But maybe not around the world. And so you know, I don't think anybody is looking at at the naysayers say the Sharks are gonna make the playoffs with it without a shrug of the shoulders and saying That's just good motivation for this Logan couture, let team toe move back to the playoffs and have a good bounce back. Any. Uh, I'm a huge fan of Evander Kane. Well, what? What's the story here? I mean, I I saw the bankruptcy. I see. I see that he's you know almost what $30 million in in dead. It looks like Um what? What's his status? Is that gonna affect his status for the seasons? He's not going to play this year because of the status. What can you tell us? I think that a lot of that was based on speculating by reading the legal documents that were filed because everything that we've heard is that look at is that Evander is playing. He's playing tonight. And he's gonna play the full season. So obviously some personal troubles there, But the way we look at it, he's showing up to work, and he's been actually really focused in training camp. Obviously with working harden and then actually dealing with some of the kids and being a mentor, which is something that everybody has always wanted them to be. So I think everybody is just trying to stay positive and help him where every where he may need help and and move forward. Before get to the nuts and bolts of the team and the season. I gotta ask you what's going to be late, calling the game the night and look out on the ice and for the first time in 15 years You're not going to see that big dude with the big beard out there. It's going to be strange course It's going to be strange, because if I look out on the ice at SCP Center, where I'm calling the game from tonight, all I'll see is a bunch of concrete. True. Everybody is gonna miss Joe Thornton. Everybody already does. He's one of the most influential players in the NHL in his era. Amazing that it's his 23rd season in the league, and he's going to go try and step for trouble. Patrick model doing the same thing you're this year 23 years for these two guys, mostly with the Sharks, which is just incredible. Thing, and you know, we could get to some of that later. But back to your question about Joe. He is one of the most unusual people in that heat looked at everybody that's involved with the operation. He treats them as being somebody That's really important for the success of the team. Whether it's somebody that's cleaning out the locker rooms after games, whether it's somebody that's broadcasting the game, whether it's a teammate, whether it's a rookie, and the one thing that he brings to the game is something and I have Tom is as a former top player They got to the top level of your sport. You can relate to That grind during the course of a long season can be tough. And when you basically come to work as a player of that stature and show everybody how much fun you want to have and how much you want to have the joy of playing the game and all of those things that Joe Thornton has It just works wonders for the morale of the hockey team, so we know he's going to do that in Toronto, and we know that that tradition is carrying on in San Jose is one of the great things about having guys like Joe Thornton Patrick model around For all these years, they've established a foundation that gets passed down from generation to generation..

I mean, we're we're realistically in a public space and in an enclosed indoor space, there's multiple other people besides the one you're seeing the ones you're seeing on camera, so I just think you know as much as it is an inconvenience of the professional talker. The other part I thought about in all this is what What are people going to say and think, and as much as I'm interested, Unfortunately, that's not gonna factor into my ultimate decision making process, But I am interested to see the you know the thought process and People are accepting of the times and situations again.
