And in McLean, North Clebe Road at Chain Bridge Road, all lanes blocked both north and southbound. This due to what appears to be a serious crash there. "For only traffic and weather on the 8th to Fox Joe in the WTOP Traffic Center. Dick, a very good evening to you. Let's get started in the district. Of course, we have had our closures all day in Dupont and Logan circles for the Pride Festivities, so that's going to be an area roughly bounded by K and U Streets, 12th and 22nd Northwest. If you're headed to that area, Dupont, Shaw, stay away. Metro is your friend today. It's running normally except for the orange and silver silver line closures out in Falls Church. Speaking of headed out into Virginia on the outer loop of the Capitol Beltway, we have the right side of the roadway. Looks like the crash has cleared. As best we can tell, it was at the Eisenhower Connector exit. Delays are easing somewhat, so I think that they have it moved over to the shoulder, but it is going to be a slow ride as you head from a point just before Van Dorn Street towards the Wilson Bridge. No delays on the Wilson Bridge itself. 95 southbound. You're going to have your usual delays as you head south from Lorton across the Occoquan River. And then some short but pronounced delays between the Aquia Harbor exit. Just before the Stafford Courthouse we vehicle had a on the left side of the road that had overheated was causing some smoke and they're responding to it. So you're going to stay to the right to get by, but it is going to be a couple miles of very slow traffic. Headed towards Fredericksburg, north and south through the city of Fredericksburg, you're moving well. The rest of Virginia looks good, no problems on 66. Farther out on 81, we do have the closure of 81 northbound just after the West Virginia state line. Follow police direction to Route 11 to get around that. Over in Maryland, we have some pretty significant delays on the inner loop of the beltway headed south from Route 50 towards 202. May have been a long -standing incident, maybe volume, but either way, it's going to be a slow ride headed out of New Carrollton. BW Parkway northbound, some slight volume delays as you head north through Riverdale and again through Greenbelt southbound, you're in good shape. Only a single right lane getting by in this incident is affecting westbound the side as well. We're seeing delays on the westbound side now from 123 almost back to the Capitol Beltway. We're jammed up on the inner loop coming down from the toll road with the volume delays over the American Legion Bridge. We have the long term work zone set up both directions over on the GW between Windy Run and the Capitol Beltway. A subtle reminder only a single lane gets you by in each direction. We are seeing delays especially on this southbound side. Inbound 14th bridge northbound 395 very slow leaving the area of Route 1 inbound. Once get you onto the Case Bridge off and on delays now on the northbound side up to South Capitol Street. Southbound 395 freeway jams up from the 3rd street tunnel down to the Case Bridge and very slow in directions both over at DC 295. Those delays basically from the 11th street bridge up to King Road again all volume at best. And we do have the various closures pertaining to the Capitol Pride Parade. Now with two records on scene, hopefully to pull that issue out pretty soon. Right now you're staying two lanes to the left in order to get by, SAP on I 95 after dumfries exit one 52. If you're on I 66 eastbound in the plains between the plane's exit 31 and broad one, the left lane gets you by the crash respond to unseen there, traveling inbound on the memorial bridge before the Logan circle that crashes wrapped up and gone but delays remain on the memorial bridge inbound before Lincoln circle from that earlier wreck. In merrifield was westbound 50, Arlington boulevard near the beltway. We had the report of a crash that's completely wrapped up and gone. Southbound 29 after west street may still be under crew direction for the fire department activity before fairview park drive. The beltway in Maryland looking pretty good except for the envelope in Montgomery county with delays, approaching university boulevard toward the ramps to go northbound on the I 95 on the BW Parkway, you're in good shape, northbound, but southbound slowing on your approach to 32 headed down toward powder mill road, but traveling to open and available there. No problems one route 50 between the capitol beltway and the eastern shore going across the bay bridge, three lanes west, and two lanes open in the eastbound direction, and pretty much running at speed. DC Police Identify 6-Year-Old Killed by Gun Violence
"Weather alert station through the evening New tonight. Police have now identified the six year old who was shot and killed last night in Southeast D. C. Her name was Nadia Courtney and she was to start first grade this fall. Five others were also shot but are expected to be OK. At a press conference, D c police chief Robert Conte and Mayor Muriel Bowser called for an end to gun violence. So I am asking That we all stand together and say no more. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. Niall was killed. Somebody else could be killed tonight. You know, I'm sure that members of the Trump family are going to one. You know, obviously been floated The idea of Lord Trump, Eric Trump's wife, Umm, and Ah, senior advisor on the campaign in 2020 that she would run for office in her home state of North Carolina. I think that's Probable. You know, I put my money on that whether Ivanka decides to run against Rubio. At this point. I think that that might be something that has been exploded. In order to, um, influence Rubio's loyalty both of his impeachment process and through Some others on before. I think it's mostly work. Um, you know, it's it's an effective tool, the threat of primary being primary by Trump. I mean, that could be devastating depending on what state What race? You're talking about the national money that that machine could bring there, along with the the influence of for President Trump, which I don't think is waned with the Republican primary electorate. It's huge. Acute You know and know whether or not those candidates that the president supports will win general elections. You know, we'll have to see how that plays out. But in terms of winning primaries, I think the presence coalition if they execute this, right Build organization, right? It'll be immense. Harlan. What happens if They do, in fact, convict the president. I mean, what happens within the GOP where we know with me that Trump can't run again. Then what do you see? Is the fall out? Oh, I could get deficit. I mean, it's complete civil war. I'm gonna see it sort of play out a little bit. Privately lot of internal squabbling between people in the establishment people in Mag World and then people in Macworld and other people in that where there's a lot of infighting right now box Um, you know if they do convict the president, which will require significant level of support from the Republican caucus in the Senate. Um You know, I fear that that will Turn off on important segment of the electorate. Republicans to such a degree that they might stay home. We already got a taste of that with Georgia. You gotta take that. And this this idea that Oh, it's rigged The Republican leadership in George's terrible Just stay home. Don't even vote. And you know what? I don't know that I don't know that it was You know, can or 15% of the potential vote, but we do know that turnout was wasn't what it was on Election Day. Um, And you know that that message may have resonated with some people, and it may have impacted the results that election runoff election in Georgia. So you know, we got to keep the coalition together, You know, And, um, you know when we're talking, Democrats said about unity, they don't mean it. But we can talk about unity with within our party and we better mean it. Or, you know, we're going to spend a lot of time in the wilderness, and we can't afford it because we already see what they're for. The result of that is when Democrats controlled the house, the Senate and the White House is devastating. Do you think that the Geo we were speaking of Harlan Hill? I think they are happening right now, Um, there were starting to happen, and I don't I don't need to go back to it. I'm just gonna quickly reference it. The the The wind. The road the fork in the road here. Is what the party decides to do about this impeachment process. Right, that that is what will put a wedge in in within our party Divided basically create a party divorce, a civil war, it will have to be resolved. Um And a lot of egos. We're gonna be hurting process a lot of people's branch to be damaged in the process. It's going to be in the liberal media will love it. They will love it. You know, it'll make 2016 the primary in 2015 2016 within the Republican Party look like a cakewalk. Okay, So, um You know, those conversations are starting to happen, but I think a lot of people but are waiting to see how that turns out. Because that will determine you know where the part how much the party's values to trump wing of the Republican Party. Whether they're going to tell him to, you know, shut up and get in line. Um or, you know. Hey, we're on the same team gonna fight for each other. And that's what they're voting party should do. You know, I mean, We are way have become a big tent party. This party has fundamentally changed under under Trump, which is why I long resisted the notion. Creating a new party because you know he already executed hostile takeover it interests. All these new ideas grew the party, making it more of a working class party expanded its region support within minority communities of the president. It was kind of amazing, amazing love him or hate him. You know, it's a It's a huge transformational. Um and you know it. We have to see whether the whether the establishment ruling elites in Washington down there. The Republican National Committee. Are willing to cast that. 45% of the party aside or or keep him in the fold, And for me, that's a no brainer. Yeah, I mean, I could tell you. I just got back into Washington yesterday, and there's still a presence on the streets here. I mean, it's really unprecedented in the transfer of power, which went off, you know, Obviously we have that insurrection at the Capitol, the so called insurrection the capital, but Now there's a bunch of Bubbas acting stupid and breaking the wall. Uh, response to that since then has been draconian, putting the nation's capital under total military occupation. Is the one message to send not just Americans, but to the world. You know, we look like fools. Well, tell us what are some of the things you've had to deal with. I mean, there's there's like a zone, right? I mean, they you have to present special documents to prove your residents. I mean, for people that don't live in D. C. This It's been really weird for folks like you, right? I mean, the the new Schumer Pelosi. Biden regime here is saying, you know, papers, please. Absolutely. They talked a little bit of that now, but for well over a week up until just about a day ago. In order to access your place of business or your home if it was in side of what they called the green Zone, borrowing that term from Baghdad, you know, it's just But that was the official term They used by the way to describe the security zone in downtown Washington, D C. You had to present Either a copy of your least with your name on it for your mortgage. If you had a car that was parked in a parking garage in downtown D. C. You were not able to get it out. You were stuck. There's no trash pickup. There was no mail delivery man just crazy. This is the nation's capital. This is the nation's capital. And it was Mr full blown military occupation. I mean, it's a Republican administration had done this. I cannot. I cannot imagine the melodramatic outrage it would have. Transpired on CNN and MSNBC. For right, we'd still be talking about it. What do you make harlot of the very consistent now talking point from Democrats and and some Republicans out there, But you have people like You have people out there like Uh, Chuck Schumer and even Mitt Romney, saying that unity will be achieved through this highly divisive process of impeaching a former president. Yeah. And now back to that you have Sitting Republican U. S senators who are announcing that they are not sure how they're going to vote in an impeachment trial in the U. S. Senate. But they know that they're not running for re election in 2022. This just came out of Ohio with Rob Portman, Republican senator from Ohio. Um, he literally said that he said, I'm not sure how I'm gonna vote. I'm not see I'm a cm. I wait to see how the case is presented. But I know that I'm not gonna vote. I'm gonna stand for re election in 22. So that tells me everything I need to know he's going to vote to impeach Person Trump So really the problem this divisiveness Um, end of the lack of willingness to turn the page on this in the start healing of the nation and as a party really originates within the Republican Party. I mean, there wouldn't even be a credible discussion about whether the president could be convinced the former president could be convicted if it wasn't for Mitch McConnell. Mitt Romney. All these other establishment Republicans standing up and saying that they're considering supporting it. Talking to Harlan Hill. He's a principal at Logan Circle Group. A political consultancy advisory down in in D. C. Harlan, do you think they're gonna have you know you're in contact with Hill? Folks? You know what's going on down there? Do you think they're gonna have the What is it 17 Republican votes they would need for conviction. You know, I don't think so. I know that. I mean, there's there's a considerable portion of the Republican caucus in the Senate that I think Would supporting now whether or not the end up coming out and supporting and in the end what entirely depend on whether they hit that number. Right? So it's either going to be a lot of people stay silent. Maybe a few people like Mitt Romney, take us. Take it. Take a boat out of you know what they call their conscience? Um, but, you know, I don't think we're gonna see them come up, You know 45 votes short. Either they're going to hit the number or they're going to be well short of it. Um and, uh, I from what I'm hearing. They don't have it right now. They don't have it. And I think that that's why it's important that President Foreign President Trump Um Days away from this notion of creating a new party. That's a really hard thing to do. I mean, let's talk about this. I mean, there's been some reporting about a about a possible thing that the Patriot Party a third party, where does that stand? And what are we hearing about that? Yeah, I'm hearing is that the former President? Trump is back off on that idea. Pretty well placed. Actually, the source on that the Trump is backed up on that idea that he understands that he has to transform the party from within. And that he can do that by continuing to be a fundraising machine. Um, to build out of political apparatus, they could support. Um Royal candidates the primary Republicans that are not favorable to President Trump's agenda. Um, And apparently that is the strategy that they're going to take forward You saw today. Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Now she's running for governor of Arkansas, You know, So you're certainly see some loyalists that incredible not some, like fringe wackos. But you're a commie. Sanders is credible person, You know, She really is a great political family. She's a nice person. She was an effective soldier for President Trump in the White House, and you know she's the first one. But I know I can't go into on air. I know many other names that are sort of of her same pedigree. They're being slotted into races around the country. You think that.

C also An investigation is underway in Philadelphia after police found explosives and other suspicious cargo in a van in Logan Circle on Wednesday night. "Also out of Washington DC suspect has been arrested in the seemingly unprovoked stabbing death of jogger. She was killed Tuesday evening in what is described as a very safe neighborhood of Washington DC Twenty-three-year-old. Anthony Crawford has been arrested and charged for the murder of Wendy Martinez. Poor woman jogging. Just jogging and thirty five years old jogging and Logan circle around eight pm when an assailant. Allegedly stabbed her in the neck she stumbled away from the person into a restaurant. And she died. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police don't believe the killer knew the attacker. You know, this is something I talk about often you have to have situational awareness all the time these horrible stories this poor woman just out for a jog gotta be aware. Gotta be looking around. I don't know that that could have helped her, but you get evil like this in a horrible horrific attack. Sometimes nothing can be done. But one thing you should be is not on your ear buds not looking down pay. Attention. Be aware have situational situational awareness at all
