Protecting Your Spiritual And Mental Health During the Coronavirus Pandemic
"My Name's James Bottom Nama therapist bringing healing to the world. Hi My name is Camilo Lofton. I am a specialist and I am working to take on capitalism and patriarchy. Mindfulness practice at a time. Sorry not sorry. Thank you both for being a part of sorry. Not Sorry I wanted to have you on because people are struggling right now and I don't think we're talking enough about the mental health ramifications of this collective pain that we're experiencing so I really want to start with the question of just. What is the psychological toll that this is having on us and especially what about those on the front line that doctors the nurses the first responders a think with those people that they actually have training to deal with this? I think that they have a purpose. And they're working with what's in front of them so I think with people with doctors what they're in frontline people how they're going to suffer is energetically an immense toll on them to be constantly taking care of other people. And it's this deluge that they can't saw. I think that's going to be very difficult for them. I think the greater crisis for people is going to be that the people in the population general population. We moved through trauma by finding purpose in trauma and has a long-term sometimes decades thanked on things like relationships into the work. Consider normalize my fear. Is that especially with all of the messaging that there's not a single message on how we're supposed to move through this and I my fears that people aren't GonNa find purpose right. That people are GonNa stay at home and focus on what they're missing out on the fear rather than finding a collective healing conscious and when people are not talking about that right when we don't have people in the mainstream media talking about that. I think that it almost has that feeling of what's wrong with me clearly. I'm the only one talking but we're feeling this way because nobody's talking about it and I think that that can be a really lonely place to be into. Is that feeling of. I'm the only one that is this anxious about what's happening right now or I'm the only one that's depressed about what's happening right now. Because we're just ignoring psychological toll that this is taking her sure and I also think that part of the issue too is that in general those who are day. We don't invite in in variety in fear and depression. We tend to keep ourselves busy. 'cause that's capitalism asks us to do is turn turn turn and so we we tend to collectively as push all of those fears and anxieties and worries aside and so in all of the sudden we have nothing to do that and all of that stuff has now come to the surface. We almost have no choice but to look at it and yeah that can be incredibly overwhelming and when there is no sort of collective response to what that in due to a person and what that can do to a society for sure there's going to be ramifications for it in spiritual work we call this the shadow war and every spiritual tradition speaks to shadow work on some extent or on some level but collectively as a Western society especially here in the states. We haven't looked at this. I mean this is a complete undoing. If you will the toll is going to be big and so it's like what do we do? What do we do with that? It's interesting because looking at my children right who I think we all as parents at least the way David or apparent we've kept our kids really really busy right. I mean they have sports they have you know. My Son has drum lessons and hockey and now to well this is a couple of things to see him sit and have to sit with potential fear or any anxiety or not feeling good about himself or whatever it is to see him have the sports as a way to exert that just to use for a coping mechanism. The fact all of his coping mechanisms have sort of been taken away. I would imagine a lot of families are feeling this way. We're we're looking at our kids especially are active kids and we're noticing. What a drastic change. It is because our kids are just not having that coping mechanism of going outside and wrestling around boys that social wrestling and playing the sports and everything. And it's made him actually a lot more self reflective. I've seen a lot more creativity sparked and I was. I was Gonna say that same thing. I think what we're all learning is a couple of things mine. We can't rely on this administration or other media sources to solve this straight to. We have to get created in our own homes with ourselves individually within our families amongst our community. We have to search for that creative response to move through this. Go Ahead James. One thing is I just from speaking with so many people friends clients. Everyone's worried about their children. And one thing I've found is that actually children are highly resilient. They seem to be doing well when every person I asked like. Oh just like you said. My kids are being more creative more. Inventive that those certainly a bit of boredom. But they're not suffering adults are the ones who we've tried to always be productive where only valued on what we're doing it dolts that are really suffering by just sitting and this not losing the other thing that I've noticed about the kids which I think is pretty special as they've gotten closer because they're they're all each other has right now as far as playing and that's really really beautiful. I WANNA get to adults in a second but I have one question about how best to speak to our children about this time. Is it better to protect their innocence or to be honest about you? Know the fear factor. What do you think I think the best thing that we can do for? Children is one to be honest because to be honest with them about what's going on is it gives them a sense of self esteem that we believe that they can handle the information. Of course I don't think you want to overwhelm them negatively. I think you want to give them the information. I don't think we want to also gaslight our children by saying Oh everything's GonNa be okay. We're not worried because they're picking up from us that we are worked like everyone's worried and I think to say hey we are worry. These are adult problems that were going to work on yours safe. You're taking care of but there is a lot of your atmosphere and I think that it is important to be honest with them and I think the way that we're really going to show them how to work through. This is not by telling them how to do it but by modeling it ourselves

"A delta flight a three hundred thirty three hundred cities where people in the car it where people miss someone in one of our other two hundred ninety nine we don't fly to three hundred cities milita bringing together just show us were not that far apart climbing this is the sporting life on espn radio and the e s p n app here's jeremy chef joy now by someone who is the six time all star one of the great players here's the nineteen nineties and early two thousands he spent nearly two decades in the major leagues were joined by the fleet end de accomplished andy six time all star kenny lofton kenny thank you for being with us no problem thanks for having me any we think about the all star game a what made it special for you well again i think the first the first one was very special because i was pretty excited about being a part of it is in ninety four is in pittsburgh and i just felt you know very special in just to be a part of a of a of a midseason classic that that created the best players in the game and i felt like i was part of it is big deal they all star game when we were growing up you're in early fifties i'm forty nine the all star game was a big deal it's almost like a super bowl in some ways 'em for baseball a one off is suppose the world series one game everybody paying attention tens of millions of people watching it doesn't get those kinds of eyeballs retention anymore why do you think that is again i don't know how baseball is approaching this but 'em i don't think it's the same i think the game overall has somehow changed why i don't know but m i think it's still just excited about the midseason classic and i think that back then it meant something to where if you win the game you know you feel like that's what well right now they went from every other switching every other year to who you know for for the team was a world series teams have the home field advantage and then it went from there to trying to figure out whoever wins the the all star game just tried boosted up to just to get the home field advantage and i now i think is back to you know a a medically nationally back and forth we have the home field advantage but i i'm not even sure why it's not because again i mean guys get a little pay little money through their contracts and from either their glove company or batting glove or bat so whatever they got their little bonus and now these little bonuses mean and now 'cause they make so much money they make so much money and they don't produce the same numbers what they making the money were speaking with kenny lofton the six time all star center fielder most famously the cleveland indians for whom he played nineteen ninety two through nineteen ninety six and then again nineteen ninety eight a through the two thousand one season end finished up with the cleveland indians in his seventeenth major league season at the age of forty in two thousand seven twenty four hundred twenty eight career hits fifteen hundred twenty three runs scored in six hundred in twenty two stolen bases kenny this season were seeing balls flying out of the park like never before a even what happened in the nineteen nineties doesn't compare to be a home run rate were seeing this season it's yeah it's unprecedented what do you think's going on guys are getting paid hitting home runs they're not getting paid to get on base so get on base right now means nothing in the game and i think that's the problem and they have this launch angle where everyone's everyone's swing vote offense if i was playing the game i swung the defense is every time i would hit twentyfive thirty home runs cut the opportunity that you are swinging for the fences you're gonna pretty much have a chance to connect as many times are you swinging but at the same time you're gonna be striking out like last year's all star game i felt people felt it was the best i felt it was the worst you know he said it was ten home runs oh so many home runs but it was twenty five strikeouts you can't strike out that many times i mean again all stories stories about guys getting on base having fun you know didn't hit and they wouldn't get any hits striking when you strike out twenty five times in a game that's just that's the that's also unheard of but that's the way this game is going today you're getting a bill buckner died a few weeks ago the great first baseman outfielder who almost had who had more than twenty seven hundred hits in the major league she would've batting title striking out only seventeen times that season anti never struck out more than twice in a game in his entire career twenty two seasons in the big leagues when we see now as you say something completely different you don't seem happy about it well no i don't because i know the part of my game and what i did in the game if felt like you because again always say when i play the guys with the rb eyes are be i mean runs batted in so that means if someone had to be on base tibet this person in and nowadays you don't have you have a lot of solo all home runs and what you have your martell you know run home runs whatever but if you look at the majority of their solo home runs you've got a leadoff hitter trying hit home runs every time they come to the plate because i don't like people are changing the game game just fall home runs out in like the part when they said back in the nineties take chicks dig the long ball what about the chicks taken the guy gets on base make some things happen getting on base still and basically i know that with the chick should have been digging that but they wanna they should they should have been digging ricky henderson although he had some pop to you at some pop to i mean you hit a hundred and thirty home runs or you hit three home runs the big leagues yet honored and sixteen triples i mean you're career slugging percentage is four twenty threes you you had some pop and you'd be outspoken kenny in the past the in one of the things that you always noteworthy about you're legacy in the game with all you're all you're chievements a six time all star are a all those runs scored although stolen bases among the alltime leaders at two ninety nine career batting average three seventy two on base you got barely any support when you were first eligible for the hall of fame under five percent threshold which meant you were right off the ballot end 'em that was controversial and you've been outspoken about a why you think you deserve more supportive why you haven't gotten that support it has to do with these a preponderance of baseball the time you're playing a yeah i mean i felt like again my time of the game i didn't actually see what was going on but i knew what was going on in for me to be in the game at that time knowing how i played the game and i just feel like you wanna play the game the right way you play the right way and i felt that's what i did i do a lot of players played it the right way but they're also someplace who didn't play the game the right way and and that kind of upsets me because it makes me makes my numbers look on the bottom part of the totem pole because of the guys who have what i say cheated the game so if you wanna cheat the game input cured numbers up there you know and i just feel like you know these guys who cheated the game they cheated the opportunity to become a hall of famer for my standpoint because of they they cheated the get the numbers i didn't cheat the get my numbers if they she my numbers will be stacked up at the top echelon of the totem pole because they didn't cheapest since they cheated my numbers drop way down my free agency at those times they wouldn't even looking at me at that time when when did it become a free agent because i wasn't hitting home runs and that's again that's what upsets me is that guy's opium praise for cheating and that's what's kind of confusing me that's all man you're right i mean there's no doubt about that a your numbers if you take them outside of the context of the year in which we had the maguire's and the bonds is in sosas and and so many people hitting these absurd amount of home runs 'em dry juan gonzalez and an i don't know if one is always who's doing steroids i think of his name the mitchell report we don't know for sure but the kinds of things at certain guys were doing that made people suspicious it it it it makes it hard for guy like you just stand out in what do you think should be done about in terms of the hall of fame or again i'm not a hall of famer so i don't know i think guys like you know like maybe berry berry larkin's you got a paul monitor monitor eddie murray winfield those guys are the ones that you could ask that question about because that they're in a in a league class that they didn't cheat the game in their number so not a lot of their numbers are are also starting to go down were compared to the guys who have been cheating but those are the guys that will have a better answer to that than i do because again i'm not a hall of fame i got off the ballot so in my numbers doing it the right way look like they're they're they're kind of bad come come parrot compare it to those guys and i think those other guys who are in the hall of fame with a doing it the right way should be the guy frank thomas those guys to be speaking out about what's going i mean again i'm not there i can't i have no i have no say anything 'cause i'm just at logan the total were speaking with kenny lofton the six time all star for all star game special in in kenny also one of the great all around found a two sport athletes of his you're a great basketball player at the university of arizona played in the nineteen eighty final four a which is ultimately won by kansas in of course seventeen season major league baseball career kenny i know you are now involved wiz a foundation distill got game foundation five oh one c three nonprofit a what is objective of i got game of the still got game i should say foundation i don't have any game anymore but it's still you still got game so i think a lot of guys came together and felt like the objective for us to go out into to inspire and they help people always michael always helped the people who are not as privilege is i was in other guys who are in the game will play the game in in just giving someone a boost or little heads up in what they're trying to do in whatever type of organization that needs help us especially for the young kids that's coming up that was very important for me in where i grew up in cleveland and in east chicago just just the give someone a chance and we myself griffey look look troy 'em torii hunter we felt like we need to keep giving back even though we're not in the game we have that opportunity and we partner also with a guy been posing who's a company called line britain line brooke capitol in california felt like you know we we all need to keep giving back as much as we can even though we're not in the game we thought about is like we still got game and this is part of are are game is the give back in whatever areas we need and we all come up with certain areas areas of of 'em life that we see in front of us as we travel who needs help and that's what we're gonna try to push forward to help who's in need in there's a poker tournament taking place sunday july seven a in cleveland which is going to benefit still got game foundation what's gonna benefit there but it's also proceedings only gonna go to the east cleveland metropolitan school district east cleveland 'cause that's where i where i went to that's why lip that when i was in cleveland so the opportunity for me to give back and i've seen different schools who needs help so this is just the perfect opportunity the all star game is in cleveland this is the first major event is the poker tournament just the to raise money to give back in the east cleveland metropolitan the school system will be that that first m m m show of of giving back to the community and whatever communities that win kenny lofton a six time all star in a player i'm not just saying this guinea because you're on the show but someone who certainly deserved a better look from the hall of fame maybe that's something that can be rectified it's really a pleasure having you on the show talking about baseball today andy.

Detroit-Area Renters Are Eager To Leave. Even For Cleveland
"A piece of Detroit real estate news that made us say, holy crap. There's a penthouse loft apartment in mid-town. That's on the market for a cool one point four million dollars. It's in the Willy's overland, loft building on Willis street, right next door to the original Avalon, bakery, and coffee, shop, the free says the loft is actually two units combined into one on the building's fifth and sixth floors, the specs on this. When are three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms nearly twenty seven hundred square feet plus another fifteen hundred for the terrace, which offers views of downtown, Detroit, and the ambassador bridge. It's got a custom built steel staircase. A two story main space with Florida ceiling windows and a galley kitchen finished in walnut. Willie's lofts is housed inside a former dealership for the Willy's overland an early four hundred Jeep that was built and headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, the conversion to residential loss was completed about a decade ago with the addition of two stories. Not included in that list. Price is a four hundred seventy five dollar monthly condo fee will link to the free story on daily Detroit dot com. From the high demand for a million dollar, plus Lofton midtown to a new study that shows people who rent in metro-detroit are looking to leave town apartment list dot com has new data. That shows that people who are renting in our region are the second most likely in the nation to search to leave the area fifty percent of searches for housing by people in metro Detroit are for places outside of the region. Demand is very uneven after all in metro Detroit, some areas, usually the walkable more urban places like greater downtown Detroit. What you can't seem to build enough places to serve the demand, and there are waiting lists. The top cities people in metro Detroit, are looking to leave to Cleveland Cincinnati and Grand Rapids. I thought it was interesting to put these two stories together spend because actually I've, I've toured those Willy's overland lofts spaces before they're absolutely beautiful. But there's been a lot that has been sitting on the market until recently, and then it just starts starts to move, but they are beautiful spaces. And then you put. That right next to some stats like this, where it's like, really positive about Detroit, but the region, there's a lot of people can leave. Yeah. Absolutely. I mean I would love to see, you know, deeper drill down into that. But I think, you know, you're right that people, you know, we're, we're seeing really hot rental markets are places like Ferndale down here in midtown in Detroit. But, you know, you'd suspect out in the suburbs, you know, rental apartment buildings and stuff like that, that, that don't have any kind of walkable amenities or any, you know, access to a nearby downtown. I think people are, you know, you know, look, younger people don't wanna live in those in those kind of areas, we keep reading about that over and over again. It's there's no secret, well, and the other thing, I think leaders and this is a stat I think they need to grab onto to really embrace this change is that forty three percent of families now rent their homes across America that isn't just like a Detroit thing that's a national change. In fact, more people are renting now than in the last fifty

"That would be kind of interesting. Two. Right out. But you know, like, you sometimes hate to be cut up your mouth. So here's here's a trick. For you, just so I toast, one side of it. So I put it I put the bread on a sheet pan, and I let it toasted with the broiler. And so it gets nice and toasty. But then the bottom is still soft. And then I flip it. So that the soft is on the outside the crunch is with this. And then you're still giving the bite of the crunch, but you don't rip up your mouth? This is hot Intel people that is really good Lofton's really worried about her daughter's future. We say call Kris Jenner already. God. Oh, no. What do you feel that? It is a little weird though that both. She and Felicity Huffman are sort of being made the poster children the most well known in the sting like we don't like they were showing on the today show. This woman who did Eminem jewelry. The same thing, Felicity Huffman, she had a Proctor chain giving. They were kind of going through all these other rich people. You know, any excuses. It's just it's just so sad that it's like it's all them in there. But I mean Livia became a celebrity through scandal which the art of that was perfected by Kim Kardashian. Yeah. To see of her mom. Yes. In fact, oh interesting. I didn't get Kim Kardashian as career could happen to alleviate. But her mom needs to get off her. But in call Christie. Find out what's up because Libya might be too dumb to grasp the opportunity has been given. Yes. Yes. So I don't think she's got a liming. I'll I'll say this Laurie. If you're willing to spend five hundred grand to get your girls in college wouldn't be too worried about their future. Right. Yeah. So anyway. I think that those people will see jail time the parents. No, no, I don't I love a good. A I don't know. I just feel like Lori thinks she's too classy. Yeah. Go for mama jer. Her my family tragedy to get her daughter's a reality show, but I'm saying the Jewish but she wanted right? I think her I think Laurie just thinks that would be very, dick. Know, unlike buying.
College Cheating Scandal: Everything to Know
"And the other big story this week, which is I think it's the tip of the iceberg. According to the FBI, and the IRS let's not forget, the IRS is involved in this nasty nasty college cheating scandal where far about fifty people are charged including actress velocity, Huffman Acura, slowly often. Those are the big things people know, so they get sort of tossed around, but they did it. And so many of these Ivy league colleges and. Paying off college coaches cheating on college entrance exams. Six days. Both coasts IRS. We had people like there's a woman here in San Diego area names, Elizabeth him. All she runs the east on TV station here, and they said, she used a nonprofit to sort of pay something. So a lot of people had these things where they pay things off wrote it off the charity. So the IRS is saying we're in on this to people, right? You know, it sounds like modern day, money laundering, really using nonprofits and all these charities to do this thing. Here's here's the sad part. These especially the accuracy is that we seen in all of these high powered people they already have the money to send their children to school. Right. So the payoff and coaches are an entrance exam or something like that. It's not the other person's fault who's struggling to get in that that child of this high-powered person is let's just say academically challenge because if they weren't able to ask the exam scores they need to get into these schools. So now, what you've done us affected, so many people that have been fighting to get these spots in these schools and everyone's thinking, oh, well, this person goes there because their mom or dad celebrity. Well, maybe that's part of it. But the bigger part could be that. Yeah. They just use their wealth in their power to get their kidding. And that's that status, especially when we're living in a time, Amy where we always hear this. These two words which I'm not a big fan up, but white privilege. We always hear that. And then when this happens. It's hard to defend it against somebody. That can come back easily and say, oh, they're using their white privilege. How do you defend against that? Well, it's funny because you have all these memes going around about well, there's Laurie Lofton and our daughter, and by the way, her daughter herself has put herself in the public eye. She's sort of a YouTube star, she was set some sort of affiliation with Sephora. And before has let her go this week. Hallmark is like Lori Loughlin go from their affiliation with her. But but the point Lori Loughlin daughter, I it's not. You know, some of these kids the parents didn't tell them we're doing this. It was all a big secret. But the inconvenient thing about poor little the little Laughlin family is that I think Haley has channel. She's on there saying I want to go to college to go to college. I want to go to party, and it just fled so much craziness to the story that was already just so so bizarre and I think both her daughters. I think I read today. The both Laughlin starters are resigning from their colleges. That that that whole thing. So that was just a big part of it. But not all the kids knew. It's just some of these pictures being doctored to make it look like people were pulled alters or on the rates specific sports teams. So they would have a better access to whatever college they wanted and not a victimless crime. Because no one will ever know. Why didn't I get in? Yeah. It's not a victimless crime. I mean, look how many people are still waiting in line. Get to some of these schools. Right. So you know, when you feel those spots. Especially due to some type of fraud when you have someone that's very very deserving waiting to get there. You know, somebody that would be a much better student. It's it's like when people say LeBron James is the greatest ever. Well, LeBron is the greatest in the NBA that we know about, but there's hundreds and hundreds of kids on playgrounds that could probably out late LeBron James on any given day. Just like there's hundreds of hundreds of kids that have been going to these schools that would have been better students in more deserving been what we have now that's such a perfect analogy. So how big a trouble are these parents in? Oh, yeah. You know what? Amy, it's it's not looking good, especially when you when you start talking of fraud. They were setting up nonprofit organizations just for this. I mean, there's some decent Rico charges their money laundering charges ear. So I mean, these charges are federal this isn't like they went to the store stole sunglasses.

We can all spend Christmas Eve with James Lofton on the radio Broncos. Listen, this is still a fierce rivalry. And I know there's nothing on the playoffs. But I would imagine. Thanks so much happening. Not later. You got a great stuff there from James Lofton as he mentioned. It's it's sort of stood the test time in the NFL. You get to this point of the year. They're certain teams that are. Playing than others that you do not wanna play which is what I talked about with the Philadelphia Eagles even Minnesota Vikings. You know, the Vikings are re emerging out of their midseason swoon one of those two teams is gonna miss the playoffs. And in my opinion. Both of those teams would be capable of winning a couple of playoff games. One of them's gonna miss it. There there is that momentum. The Baltimore Ravens right now. I would not wanna play a team like the ravens because people will compare it to Tim Tibo and Tim Tijuana playoff game, right? Tim. Tebow one is significant playoff game. Lamar Jackson is so dynamic running the football. It's not always pretty you know, watching chargers game on Saturday. There were times on third down where Lamar Jackson tucks it runs right into the teeth. And you think well that that probably wasn't the best way to try to pick up a first down. But there's such a fear there. I guess a bit away. Putting it there such a respect for what? He is capable of doing with his legs that as long as he's just capable of making a few routine passes..

"Beautiful Christmas Eve to you and your family. We're going to spend it talk in some football. Some MBA James Lofton will join me momentarily hall of fame wide receiver his thoughts on this readily, shifting competitive landscape in the NFL where the first two and a half months was all about offense of domination. And then the last three weeks has been about running the football playing tough defense. We'll find out which one will win out in the long run this year when James Lofton of Westwood One joins us coming up in a few minutes a couple of things here before we get to that. First of all Washington Redskins safety DJ swearing jer. Just informed. Washington DC radio show that he was called into Jay gruden's office earlier this morning and promptly cut from the Redskins. This comes after the Redskins lost to the Tennessee titans on Saturday. It was the first. Game of Saturday's doubleheader and DJ swinger was not happy about losing to Blaine gabbert member earlier in the year when the Green Bay Packers lost to the lowlier Zona cardinals. And they responded by firing their head coach their Super Bowl winning head coach Mike McCarthy like an hour later as he was pulling out of the parking lot there. Don't worry about coming into work tomorrow, you're fired and you just pulled out left. I don't think that's how it happened. But it funnier to me if that's the way it was it sort of similar if you if you lose to Blaine gabbert, the NFL is not going to respond. Well, DJ swear injured did not respond. Well, and he was upset about it. He criticized the coaching staff pointedly about it and instead of suspending him or something after calling the coaching staff decisions, quote horrible the Redskins called him into the coach's office and cut them today. Now, DJ swear injure is a starting caliber safety in the NFL. And there are a few teams right now that could use starting caliber safety or at least depth with rosters decimated by injury. I would imagine there will be a handful of teams desperately trying to find a way to get DJ swear injure on their roster before week seventeen. Whether that's the Dallas Cowboys, the Baltimore Ravens, whomever. It may be this is like doing DJ swear, injure a favor. This is when you know, a franchise is just sort of dysfunctional. They try to send a message to their veteran safety who criticize publicly the coaching staff. They're trying to work tough. We won't tolerate that around here..

"So we call them the gab, man. And you have the gab men may be starting maybe Marcus mariota. Maybe some sort of tag teamed duo where when Marcus mariota's, you know, on the mat getting stomped around, and then he climbs and scrawls over to the to the ropes and tags in the gab men comes in and cleans house. So you've got Tennessee Indianapolis winning and that will be the Sunday night football weeks matchup, and honestly, I have no real complain about that it's a fine game winning in there's drama, but I actually have a different solution that has no chance of ever happening. So it's a waste of everyone's time, but I'm gonna give it to you. Anyway, I wished the NFL in the year two thousand eighteen was four. Forward thinking enough to say, you know, what? Instead of Indianapolis, Tennessee who are battling for the six seat in the AFC and likely sacrificial lamb at some point in the playoffs. Why don't we take Cleveland Baltimore and Cincinnati at Pittsburgh? They're both the Sunday night football game. And we do a little mini red zone between the two of them. Just let Scott Hanson take over from the NFL network and instead of being forced to watch India, Tennessee, which you know, again, not to franchises that have a ton of emotional investment from people outside those two cities. What do we take Cleveland at Baltimore Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and they kick off at the same time on Sunday night football. And you could have got to announcing crews for both. We'll find the second Senate football crew, very easy, logistically, I'm just making things up now. And then have Scott Hanson, go back and forth when the incredible when that'd be more fun than watching India, Tennessee, go six. Eighteen to nine in the fourth quarter, and there's five turnovers. And it's it's you know, it's is what it is. It's significant. But it's probably not gonna be that entertaining. I would rather have the first Sunday night football weeks teen double header, and we just bounce back and forth between the two cities. We go to Pittsburgh when they're something significant happening. There we go to Baltimore. There's a huge play put it on tape. I know that we'll go to it in a second. Just like Scott Hanson dozen the red zone this. That's that's what should have inspired the Sunday night football decision. Stead? Those teams will battle of out in the afternoon, and we will get week seventeen. Indy at Tennessee coming up on the rich Eisen show. I'm mention New England. You are going to miss them when they're gone, but something happened this weekend that rarely if ever has happened in the Bill Belichick era and not a lot of people were talking about it. I'll tell you what it is. And James Lofton hall of fame wide receiver will join me his thoughts on whether ofensive schemes will take over the postseason or whether the NFL will revert back to the norm, and it will be defense and running football that carries the day..

"Network. He had James Lofton alongside the bills hall of Famer Derek Anderson another rough night for him. He always at three hundred yards passing. But in the interception that was turned into a pick six by Devin mccourty eighty four yards a couple of snaps after it looked like the bills might have gotten in the end zone. Finally, he also had the fumble. He was sacked three times. Other bright side Nathan Peterman through two passes and did not get intercepted. So what about this coaching while this quarterback carousel for the head coach Sean McDermott and the offense? And now another paltry outing for Derek Anderson. Obviously wasn't good enough. We weren't able to move the ball enough offensively. And you know, the quarterback plays a big part in that. And I thought he made some good throws nursing throws that he liked to have that silver Sean McDermott. You just have to wait until your rookie QB is better. Let's hope that's within a couple of weeks, and he's not out the rest of the year here. Anderson was supposed to be a mentor him as we're Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. They kept getting stuffed in the red zone. They were only one of three in the red zone and did not score a touchdown until the fourth quarter. So it's nine to six through three quarters in buffalo. But then they put together a long drive, and they're able to capitalize. They get James white into the end zone. I mean, the rushing yards. We're really hard to come by for both teams. And then right after that you've got the Devon mccourty pick six but for Tom Brady. A win win is a win is a win. They don't give up any big.

"You can see him on Sundays working for CBS as well. Eight time Pro Bowl hall of Famer James Lofton, James how you doing tonight. You do not realize it ours. Eight time pro bowler right now, I watch all these guys make a Pro Bowl as an alternate. So is an eight time Pro Bowl alternate. Also. Oh my God. With your love when Pro Bowl being after being preceding the Super Bowl, although guys can't go and you get guys who make so much money. They don't feel like check out. So I'm pretty sure I made it another eight time figure in nineteen Ninety-one. You guys were on opposite sides of the Pro Bowl. Our? Yeah. Warren Moon was on our team at that. Same time on the AFC worn I in nineteen sixty eight we're on the pop Warner team. Wow. So that was almost twenty five years department teammates. Again, they'll circle there goes that's good stuff. Well, we certainly appreciate your stop invited. I give you some thoughts. What jumps out at you first about this matchup. Well, sometimes it's people and golden Tate. Marvin Jones are two young men that I've had a chance to know throughout their careers and kind of watch them progress, and they are you don't talk about it. A lot around the league. But in that top category. You're picking duels. I think they'd be in the top five. And the fact that Matthew Stafford was four years in a row now four thousand yard. I said in our little broadcast that as you get older in life. You want some balance and Matthew Stafford then in his tenth year finally to get that balance of having a little bit of a run game. A lot. Let me ask you this. Then when they talk about ten this season. The lava the tendencies colts were Tristesse coats in the AFC. So he should know the real well, but then the work in reverse to those canes AFC should know what works against his defense is in different things and find tendencies in the lions, and the other thing to go along with that is we see so little of what teams are going to do during the pre theme. Both you probably got a chance to watch the bears in the Packers last night. The first two times the bears had the ball. I'm going wait a minute you guys to stop with all this new step lineup. Tackle somebody. They just came out him with so much. Let me just emptied the bucket guys moving around. If you go to high school games. I remember when my kids were in high school you'd see something in high school game on Saturday in the college game in the pros. And that's what we're getting all these athletes who were so good such great guys in space plan in highschool. You're saying them play in the pros. Yeah. And you just see it more and more creativeness invented. If the toughest position to play in the NFL is now back east. You can't touch them us. Right. And then you can't hit. And so it's really hard. If you can hold a team to under twenty four points in a game. You've had a great day on defense. Sam darnold getting start for the jets. What intrigues you about him? What kind of challenge does he face tonight? Well, think about it four years ago he was trying to figure out who to take to the problem. Napa Valley started. One of the Marquis franchises in the league. He he has his size. He has a strength. He has the skill. He has this feed the play the position. And if you're Matt Patricia you wanna make it messy in his head. So you want to move a lot late toward the line of scrimmage. You wanna shift around and make him kinda see if his microprocessors working and see if he can handle it, mentally because we know we can handle physically, but Kenny adjusted all the things that happens at breakneck speed during the course of a regular season game. So you're gonna see thank you all see Alaba running the ball. Of course. Lot of short throws to get them. Comfortable giving them in a rhythm early. Right. But you played and you remember when you had to hold your block. And then like it there are so many throws hundred ten yards now and so many girls in zero to five yard area. Where all you have to make sure the guy doesn't have his hands up. So that you know, we forget. About that has been a key to being a good path blocker, not only is it not letting the guy run around your run through you. But you gotta keep his hands down. So I don't know if you part them a little bit below the waist or. What are your knees? Oh. Draymond green. Put their hands. The report. To get back to booth anything. Did anything jump out of the NFL? I know you did the Bengals colts yesterday. I think I was really impressed with Andrew luck. And and kinda just taken with the fact that he didn't know if he's going to make it back normally when you have an injury, there's a timetable attached to certain shoulders certain injuries. Get your niece scope, it's six eight week. You have an ACL nine months to a year. You have shoulder surgery. You know, how long it's gonna take his he didn't know when the pain was going to stop. He kept thinking maybe tomorrow morning, when I wake up the pain isn't going to be there, and it, but it was and so he now question, you know, everything I've thought about being a football player is that can be taken away from her. And so the fact that he got the play was exciting. And then obviously what Aaron Rodgers did in the second half ridiculous. Hi face. James? Great stuff. We appreciate. James Lofton, but we call it again tonight for Westwood One. You'll see him on CBS tonight as we said hall of Famer right there joining us, I love let's get to you now keys to the game, my friend as we look at brought to you by US park, put it in park. Flawless keys to the game. What do you think my friend? Dan, I got one big key that I liked to see turned loose night. And that's Maga may Kimmy golladay. I want to see him in that offense get loose. I know we talked about the defense. But I think if the offense get out there get running the ball give rhythm get first downs March down the field. Even if they don't score they could take time off the clock and try to wear that defense. I go a long way to help that our defense, which I think at certain times we're going to need help from our offense James Lofton just talked about maybe alliance offense that we don't recognize from the preseason. That's what we need. I would love to see that. And hopefully, Jim Bob cooter. Matt Patricia hopefully, they got some stuff up they sleeves. They just roll them. Sleaze up and all that imaginative offenses don't come out tonight about defense. What's the key there? But to me, it's controlling the line of scrimmage. I think our D line. I really do and they hadn't played well. The jets got a small office alive. I really think we could dominate their office line up front and stop them from running the ball. We can't let them start running the ball, Dan. If they start running the ball. This is all feed into the fuel of Sam darnold and everything they wanna do coming up. Still. We got an active. We got the starting lineups for tonight's game. Plenty to talk about as we get ready for the lions and the jets here Llamas, if you're one of these players waiting for this game probably sees that he will wait for two weeks Thursday sitting through yesterday and getting to the deaths your friends called you. They had a great game. You probably sat around and watched them on TV plan. You're right. And then you have to sit around all night long. But no what is here now. So you get to take it out on. So we're not sitting around much longer. We're ready to roll lions and jets coming up. Stick around kick is on the way, this is lions radio..
