"You got a lot of emails and calls from friends and even family who heard the news about the death of marc bernier. Mark was really popular a legendary radio host really in daytona beach. I was aware of his career as a lot. A lot of people who listened to him over the years. Here's the way. The guardian characterizes his death over the weekend at the age of sixty five. He died of a headline florida radio. Host who called himself. Mr anti vacs dies of kovic one thousand nine hundred conservative radio host from florida who criticized corona virus vaccination efforts before contracting. Kobe himself has died when bernier was hospitalized. Three weeks ago. The operations manager of the station told local media. If you've listened to his show you've heard him talk about how anti vaccine he is on the air. In fact back in december mark told one of his guests about the vaccine. I'm not taking it. Are you kidding me. Mr anti vacs jeepers. He died saturday night after battling kobe. Apparently for three weeks he was hospitalized. The first week of august and of course as expected the vile left mocked. His death actually celebrated his death on social media monitoring trolls and ugly vile comments about natural selection. And what a dummy he was. And i had friends asked me mike. He's in your profession. Obviously you disagreed with his decision. So what do you make. Why do you take your show and instruct people to get the vaccine. One of my friends said. And i said of course not. I can't do that anymore than i can tell you what your diet should be or what. What other meds you should be taking. What kind of antidepressant pills. You should take or what kind of. I'm not in a position to tell another human being what they should do with their body.
Liberal Palm Beach County Parents Prefer to Keep Kids in Muzzles
"The whole thing laid out ready to go. And then I see on this Facebook page The WPTV, which is a local media outlet down here in Palm Beach. I live north upon beach in Florida. They're reporting that despite Governor De Santis is ban on mask mandates, not ban on masks. Yeah, contrary to with Randi Weingarten, the teachers union tells people because she's a liar. It's not a ban on massacres. A ban on masked man. His parents can choose. Put a kid. They're kidding. Um, asked why they choose that I don't know, but or they can choose not to right. So, uh, Palm Beach County basically gave the double barreled middle finger to Governor De Santis and said, We're just going to mandate masks. So most parents, I'm assuming just going to ignore this because nobody really cares with the Palm Beach County People say there are losers in the in the governing governing infrastructure. Pompey's people down there are awesome, but it's run by idiots and losers. Palm Beach kind of. Sadly, it's largely Democrats. They're all in Brussels. And I'm sitting there and I'm reading the comments underneath the story. And it's amazing how many parents are on their well, we're gonna call Pinots. Parents in name only who don't care about their kids at all, have not asked any questions about the long term effects of masking their kids for eight hours a day, the effectiveness of the matter relative to the potential negative effects they've done none of this. They want their kids and muzzles like dogs because they don't care about their kids. They just don't the gas. Somebody's talking about killer Basque Has it stopped. Anything isn't really been effective in stopping. Do you have any actual evidence? Real world evidence that this thing has been this masked man they affect you Have any of that evidence? No, I don't have it. So you're gonna put your kid in the muzzle? Of course I am. I'm a liberal parent. Don't give a damn about my kids. I just don't like you conservatives. So I'm going to take it out of my kids. Make sure he breathes in his own carbon dioxide all day in a filthy, dirty mask where everybody sweats all over the place in Florida. Alright, so that But that's what makes you a pie? No apparent name

"Up and it needs to be an important tournament and so bryson can beat him or brooks can beat bryson. And that's that's where the who's who's won this little rivalry that's where it gets played out now with twitter fingers. I got a game for you. Sean let's play a little game of who's right. Who's wrong and this is taking brooks kept out of the equation but it still is featuring bryce into shambo and a couple of journalists who really ragged on him for skipping media obligations on Thursday and friday. After his rounds. And you know look guys that missed the cut frequently. Don't talk to the media. But this is bryce into shambo. He sponsored by rocket mortgage. He's the defending champion. He did just split with his caddy's one of the most famous golfers in the world. Does he have an obligation to talk to reporters after his rounds is is he right in skipping his media allegations or is he wrong. He's wrong and like to contextualized that. With if he went out and shot seventy two in the first round or whatever even par is at donald. Ross detroit golf club. Seventy two yes. I don't think i need to hear from him. After seventy two but if he shoots seventy-three whatever. He shot on thursday after sacking his caddy or mutually agreeing to part ways with his caddy. If he does that. Yeah i think we deserve to hear from him like there is context to this. You don't need to sit in a vacuum across the board and be like we'll golfers they're just. They're just playing golf. We don't need to hear from them. It's part of the story. The caddy is part of the story. Dylan when you feel the qualify. A local qualifying. I'm a tiny little part of that story. Like that is gulf for you. And if if bryson doesn't think that that is a story or if or fans don't think that matters then you're kinda just big ignorant to how this sport has gained popularity over the last three or four decades. So yeah he's wrong. He did shoot seventy two. I sample seventy in the first round. Seventy one in the second round. It definitely felt like you should make the cut but you know not exactly contend scores. Were pretty low. Those first two days continued to be low all week In general. I think you know if we as reporters are getting too worked up about guys talking or not talking after the round it it really feels like an old man media take but it is if something significant is going to you. Why are we probably needs. You address sentiments up. You know that's my take. Why are we propping up these events as important if the people in the rounds that are scored are not important like That's that that is what's implied by golfer. Saying they don't wanna talk to the media now. There are many reasons why they might truly believe they don't need to or not want to in that moment but the reason why the reason that's implied when they decide i don't want to talk to the media is generally because i got nothing to say here. Well we got questions to ask regardless. And what i think is funny. Is that if bryson's shoot seventy two at augusta national. During the masters he gets wrangled to do media every single day. A lot of every single big name player does media just what every single day at augusta national the data. They can come in and get away with not doing. It would be sunday if they began the day. T- seventeen shot seventy four minutes t thirty four and nothing really matters to them. Well yeah then. We don't really care to talk to them..

"Positive stuff that comes along with that there. There you gain attention you gain followers. You if you're not worried about you know stuff like being called a bully or doing actual bullying if you're not worried about that but you're just worried about you. Know p i p and attention and you know getting golf fans or non dolphins kind of fired up then. There's really no reason not to keep taking shots. I mean kapka tweeted out that it was caddy appreciation day right after Bryson and his caddy announced their split and he kept his not even playing in the tournament this week. But that went crazy. People loved it People really responded to it so again. Like the incentive structure is there to keep doing stuff like this which means that people for whom. It's not their cup of tea like yourself. I don't know what to tell you except there's more coming. It'd be surprised if there's not. I think what i mean to say is that i'm okay with this at times but like i'm not gonna defend whatever happened between bryson. Tim tucker is like you know. Bryson is a saint. But like bryson i think is kind of over the whole brooks thing brooks kapka in their feud really ever really wanted any part of it. The only person pouring later fluid on this like whimpering little campfire is kept. Gotta but you have all these idiots sitting around the campfire. Whoever in such a good time with it and by that i mean like all the people on social media. So yeah maybe he's an entertainer. Yeah he's probably chasing whatever. All that money is worth. I'd love to see him. Go and win an event. Add to that major. Total the wind count. I know he won in phoenix. Before all the pip was really announced publicly. But yeah. I think we're just approaching the point where we need a battle royale right a physical fight. No no no no. We need a battle royale. We need them.

"Coup again should look that one. how one. On the ladies european tour so this is Just based on a tweet from our pal. Evan priest In ozzy reporter who is pointing out that. This was a massive week for ozzy golfers. Jason day finished t fourteen sir signs of life. He's had a good summer. I i went on the record. Maybe at least privately as not on the record i was believing i was believing in jason day earlier. This year in early march told a handful of people including claude harmon. I said look jason day's gonna have a year. He's gonna surprise some folks. Has he lived up to that billing not quite yet but he has recently could he win could content of the open. Can you play an event without grabbing for his back. Gosh i don't know so up and down very up and down but you saw a few guys that the european side and the international side and the ryder cup and presidents cup or just fascinating to see the makeup of those teams but you had cam davis she walking neiman playing while you had sunday playing well jason day playing well mackenzie hughes right in the mix so there were a few different potential players. That were There were all in the mixed this week. So that's the sort of thing you have to look to. When you're playing the rocket mortgage classic. When guys like bryson's a sham or missing the cut when phil is finishing you know eighteen shots off the fifteen shots off the lead. I should say That's the sort of thing that you know. We end up dialing in on All right shaun. what's next. Bryson bryson the man. You said who missed. The cut is no longer working with tim. Tucker i was in detroit earlier in the week. And i saw bryce and i said hi to him i saw tim tucker said hiome and all seemed well in that world and it was another reminder that that what you see doesn't mean everything behind the scenes it sounded like it was just getting a little more tense between the two guys and you know what is the braces camp messaging that you know their relationship as a player caddy had run. Its course in that. They mutually agreed to part ways. We know nothing more than Could there be something more than that. I think so. I think when a player and a caddy call it quits essentially on wednesday night of the tournament after the county was there to begin the tournament. There's probably something more than mutually agreed to part ways I don't need to speculate anymore. Beyond that but it's it's the kind of thing that happens in gulf on the case some player catty like relationships and while the event is even being i was thinking about but you can never predict when it's going to happen. We haven't had a mid round caddy firing in a while. And maybe that's just not a thing. This is as close as possible. Like there's just maybe there's just you know there's too much scrutiny. Now there is You know people would just be aware how viral that would go. So maybe but i think that. That's the sort of thing that used to happen with some frequency. Yeah look i mean. It's not a shocker. That bryce into shampoos caddy would Tire of the job. I don't think that bryce would object to even us saying that if you heard it because it's a it's a testing gig..

The Tulsa Race Massacre: Where Are the Reparations?
"Week was one hundred years right. Since the tulsa race massacre occurred this is when a mob of white people with support from local politicians and the police killed an estimated. Three hundred black americans burned down over one thousand two and fifty homes destroyed businesses. And all of this in the greenwood district of tulsa oklahoma. Which by the way was known as black wall street because it was so thriving so dynamic so filled with life and economic potential. Well okay no surprise. None of the white attackers were ever convicted for this crime which happened after a false report of a black teenager attacking a white girl. The girl later dropped the charges but white local media ran a racist article with an inflammatory headline which essentially incited the mob attack. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Has a Gang Problem
"Castle. Welcome to the show. So you're the you're the author of a fifteen part series That's currently on a knock. La documenting basically a fifty year. History of violence As it pertains to a series of gangs that operate within the la county sheriff's department that are comprised of la sheriff's county deputies Just like it's hard to draw. The conclusion suggested by this investigative series. Is that the most vicious and dangerous gangs in los angeles are have badges and operate as a gang a metaphorical sense but like literally by california criminal. Code is a gang every sense of the word. Yeah one hundred percent. I mean you you say at the top in in your pieces like the headline you you you list. The section of the california penal code that pertains to what like how how to determine whether an organization is a criminal gang and according to the penal code. It has to have three more people that one have a common name or identifying signs. Simple has is one of its primary activities. The commission of one of a long list of california criminal offenses and three whose members have engaged in a pattern of criminal gang activity. Either alone or together. How does that fit the gangs that you started your investigating in this series. Yeah well. I opened the series with The definition of the california penal code Really intentionally because you know these. Deputy gangs really aren't any different than criminal street gangs. The only difference is that you know they are able to operate with a badge and impunity. I think it is unfortunate and irresponsible that our judicial system has not categorize these deputy gangs of such If you look in local media the sparse coverage that has been on these deputy gangs. There's a lot of hesitation to use the word gang in this case I was very intentional with using that word. Because you know these are gangs and we need to call them what they are.

"But in Newark, Delaware, next door played a big role in the fate of the local school district. Will arenas is from Newark and wrote about it for 10 at medium He joins us now. Thanks for having me first of all, for those of us who haven't used next door. Can you talk about what it is, but more importantly, kind of how it's evolved in recent years? So, as you mentioned next door started out as a sort of community bulletin board for the Social Media Age. It was really useful and a lot of ways as the years have gone by, it has become in many communities, a hub for local news and local political discussions next door discourages discussions of national politics. But as it has become more influential in local politics, we've seen that it can play a role in things like local elections. I saw that here in my town of Newark, Delaware, you write about a school referendum. What was the referendum? And how did next door play a role in its result? So in 2019, the Kristina School district, which is the second largest school district in Delaware, was going out for a referendum to raise money. They did all the things they usually do. When they go out for these referendums, and they usually pass, they talked to the local media. What up information on websites. The referendum failed and it failed badly, And when they were looking at why that happened, they realized that a lot of people been talking about it on next door. And those discussions have been dominated by a few really loud voices who were anti district anti referendum who felt that this referendum was just a scam to extract more money from taxpayers. So when they went back out in 2020 Now this situation was much more dire man. If they didn't pass this time, they were going to be cutting all extracurriculars. This time they deputized some of the advocates of the referendum to go on next door. They give him talking points. They said. Hey, when you see people spreading this information about the district Tell him this. They did that They got tons of engagement. There were the one of most popular topics on our local next door network. And this time when the election happened, the turnout was an all time record, and it passed by a landslide. Can't say for sure that that was because of the next war strategy, But it certainly seemed to play a role. We're watching Social media grow while local newspapers struggle. What have you learned about this moment? Through this story, so the decline of local news was bound to leave a vacuum of some sort, and something was bound to fill it. Recently. The emergence of next door has given people a way to get local news from social media in this sort of engaging for Matt. I mean, it's mixed in with With gossip from and about your neighbors. It's it's mixed in with information and stuff you need to know, but obviously things get left out and we have a local weekly paper called The New York Post. It covered the referendum. The reporter told me something interesting. He said that local authorities have actually become less willing to talk to him for stories now that they can reach constituents directly on next door. They can give their unfiltered message, and they don't have to go through the filter of a journalist who may add their own critical questions or scrutiny. And so it could certainly become a hub for misinformation as well as the useful information that you can you can find just from the local knowledge of your neighbors. We've said over and over again here. You know, this used to be a place where you sold a couch, and now it's where you can be and like kind of high stakes. Political battles. You know about school funding. How is next door responded to this shift. Do they even see it or acknowledge it? One way you can tell that next door wasn't fully prepared to take on this role as a major hub for local news or local politics. Is that it's moderation system is very rudimentary. It's all done by volunteers. They're unpaid. They don't get a lot whole lot of training. One thing we've seen recently is that next door in the wake of the U. S. Capitol, Ryan Has tried to pull back a little bit from controversial political content, especially national politics. Now it's also going to stop recommending political groups to users. So it's starting Teofilo that cycle of backlash and response. And taking some additional safety steps that we've seen other social networks go through before it. That's will arenas, senior writer for 10 at medium Thank you for your time. Thanks again. To Alabama now where people are mourning the death of Sheila Washington, She founded the Scottsboro Boys Museum and fought to bring honor and dignity to the nine young black males falsely accused of raping two white women in 1931. In a peer of member station. W. B. H M reports as a child, Sheila Washington was fascinated with the story of the Scottsboro Boys. They ranged in age from 12 to 19, and we're traveling by train through Jackson County, Alabama when they were accused of raping two women in all white jury in Scottsboro sentenced eight of the nine to death. 1931 trial drew national attention. Later, the U. S. Supreme Court heard arguments in the case leading to two landmark civil rights president's regarding the right to counsel and non discrimination in jury selection. Washington learned about the case through an old book hidden in her father's Pillow case. Here's Washington sharing that story last year. Said. One day when I get older, I'm gonna find a place. And honor the slats were boys and put this book on the table and burn a candle. And a memory. Washington did just what she said. In 2010. She opened the Scottsboro Boys Museum and Cultural Center archivist John Allison says Washington faced a lot of opposition. When she opened the museum, he says, as generations past, people in the majority White town wanted to move on and forget about it. Sheila Knew that this was a story worth telling. It was a story that we needed to tell a story we needed to address about the injustices that had happened to these young men. It took Washington 17 years to open the museum. Allison helped her gather materials from the trials. Washington also received help from the Black Heritage Council of the Alabama Historical Commission. Loretta Wimberly, a founding member of the council, says Washington often faced resistance, but she was determined. Sometimes you have the beeper system. You have to be patient, but you have to be courageous. Well, she wants like courageous, persistent person, and she believed in what she was doing. Washington also became the driving force to clear the names of the Scottsboro Boys for Good. With help from a legal team at the University of Alabama. Washington worked with state lawmakers to issue posthumous pardons when convictions involved racial discrimination in 2013. The governor signed the bill and the Scottsboro Boys were exonerated. Alison, the archivist, says Washington's efforts helped the city overcome a big racial stumbling block. And I think it also may be helped us to set a precedent that these things could be done. But it's never too late to do the right thing. It's never too late to right. The wrongs of the past. Washington died unexpectedly at the age of 61. She'll be remembered for her courageous fight to bring honor to the Scottsboro boys, even though they didn't live to see it for NPR news. I'm Jenna Pierre in Birmingham..

"local media" Discussed on Marketing Above All
"The cash from the chicken wing capital of the World Buffalo New York. You're listening to the marketing above. All podcast your source for all things well. Marketing and total world domination the nation. This is marketing above all. And this is your host Michael Next Episode Number Nineteen. Today's the day's topic. Is this local local media so there was a time time when I was like so gung Ho about local press local media local newspapers TV TV etc etc.. And then it got really not just competitive. But I really started to see that shift in the media more towards just really being a commercial and it it not being about reporting news and things happening in the community but rather hey this event is going on in the community all on it sponsored by hi this company and everything is planted and and as a commercial now. There's some fun things that I've learned about marketing and my marketing career. And if you haven't really realized it before but almost everything is kind of drawn up and everything that you're seeing and hearing and feeling is really some form of marketing My wife was shocked to hear that soap operas. This wasn't just started to entertain largely women at home that it was actually started by a soap company and used used to push their marketing messages and product placement. And things like that so I was really hot on it. I would say five to seven seven years ago. died down a little bit but I wanNA really bring it back up for you and give you some examples of what I'm actually seeing working king quite well from local businesses. So there's a few different ways that you can approach local media local press and I want you to take a step back before you really start going down this path of. What is your end goal with the local press coverage for the local media coverage? Is that just the branding played. You WanNa have it help help you grow your business. Do you need it for a credibility standpoint for example so you really have to nail down. What is your main objective objective? I and the reason you want to nail that down as that's GonNa really then start to help drive the rest of the strategy of where where I'm suggesting you focus your attention. You're looking simply for the credibility piece because maybe you're a brand new business business. You'RE GONNA go when you're going to start to approach almost all the different outlets but you're you're going to try and make this into some kind of celebration whether it's a grand opening for example so you're gonNA need to create some some kind of event and you're going to pitch it to the different media sources as to. This is why they WANNA be there. So then you can say as seen on this new station or this radio station or in this newspaper. The Chamber of Commerce for example is great to have those. Those huge scissors deserves and to make this into an event. If you're looking again for that branding credit more credibility piece. I want you think about. How can you design some kind of event in this? Obviously if you're trying to drive people to your business it's going to be some kind of grand opening celebration for example to your tax planning office or to your church or your preschool school daycare to your nail salon tanning business or or whatnot. Now you can also do this even if you're a one man crew through with the landscaping business and you're inviting them to come out and check out your trucks and things like that but you need to have some kind of angle to pitch them because they want a story. They want some reason to come out in feature you in the media now if you're aiming to drive customers and really get some business out of that now. That peace will definitely help. But if you're more focused on I need the media to really help me grow. I've got credibility but I want more customers what I tend. I'm to look at here. Is How can you kind of cross the boundary of local story local advertiser but really kind of CO mingled a to give you an example Radio stations coming out to your business and talking about a fun promotion or something really fun. That's going on on at your. Let's say car dealership which is often what you'll hear these promotions. Hey come stop out today. We're got best offers and no trade or no reasonable offer refused. So you're combining a news type event with with a local media outlet but you're really using the carrot as you're willing to invest some money and some resources in actually having having them come out now I prefer that option because I like to control more of the angle all the story. It's more of a cooperation between my business and the media outlet that you if you're investing some money I still want this story the angle etc to be news e but you're able to have some more creative input because you're investing lasting financial resources now on the other end of the spectrum. There are local businesses that they really focused more on just learning who the local reporters are and they're submitting ideas and stories and things like that on a regular basis. Do you want to hear about the new service. We offer the new product the new menu item. Can we invite you into our location and give you something for free with the hopes that you want to write about it and that it's really more of a strategy of knowing who the players are and local newspapers and kind of local websites are very very easy to figure out who's running the stories you can track down on their email address in seconds and if you really WanNa start to gain some traction you find their phone numbers and you start to build a relationship but the mistake that I see people making as they try and put a few things out there. That don't hear any response. Well I guess nobody really cares about my small business. It's not the case. But you need to find a fun an angle if you're the cake decorator tied in with some kind of fun angle. Here's the most extravagant cake that they're ever going to see you tied in with some of those fund world record type of things. The Guinness were trying to build the biggest wedding cake for example. Now it's a a media and in news events you've got to start thinking outside the box. Why would they want to come and learn about your landscaping business? Well maybe you're the first landscaper. That's only using MM battery powered mowers so you're The first one in the area that's completely green or you're going to be hiring excellency. Types of people to give them a second chance so it's starting to think about. How can you turn your business into more of a media engine but giving them unique nick stories and then on that flipside is you take that same concept but look at? What would if you were to add some advertising dollars dollars to help OPEC celebrate it but the last piece that I'll share with you is is that crossing? The border is very tough or that boundary. Because it's a very thin line of going from being a new story to being advertiser in if you start with calling and saying I want gonNA advertise. You will never be taken seriously as a news story. They're only GonNa see you as an advertiser so I like to pitch a story and then I'll say something along the lines of well if I were to add some some dollars to help accelerate this story. Is there some way that we could potentially look at that together. But but I only mentioned that after. I've pitched a story. It's been agreed-on we start to finalize things and I'll kind of mention it as an afterthought but there's a lot of interesting ways to really leverage those local media to build those relationships because they do need us they do need stories they they want to write about good things going the community and the impact. You're making the new jobs and products and services and how you're giving back all that great stuff but you've got a pitch them the right way you've got to build that relationship and then on the flip side look at ad kind of adding some of those dollars to really put fuel all to the fire. Have a wonderful rest of your day. I look for to seeing you back here tomorrow. Good afternoon good morning and good night see you yeah. Thank you for listening to this episode of marketing. Above all get out there make a change and take some action and hey don't forget to leave a five star review and tell all your friends. This is the greatest marketing podcast ever ever. There are also third there, the third least Free State, according to freedom in the fifty states. California is one of the least free states in terms of name, it regulatory policy is more a problem than fiscal policy in the state of California. California's one of the highest tax states in, in the country, they say that California's combined state and local tax collections were over ten percent of the adjusted personal income that's unsteady insane. And they said that government debt is almost twenty one percent of personal income, and the, the government employment is lower than the national average. Of course it is. And also, they said that they got until you really have no freedom where it concerns gun ownership. Tobacco super, restrictive all kinds of stuff. They said that this physician and they got into a lot of stuff. There's it's not. It's not actually when he says, free and fair market. It's not like a free and fair state. They get into imminent domain, new housing, tightly restricted. There is all kinds of stuff. That California is just does not does not at all verify. What net? Newsome is saying they're also ranked by actual CEO's according to chief executive dot net as the worst state in which to do business. They also have the highest rate, according to US news and World Report of unsheltered, homeless people there, poverty, according to Sacramento bee is still the absolute highest in the nation. And it's also ABC thirty says the least affordable state, wallet hub via heritage says it brings thirty seven in public education. It has literal poop crisis. Amy notes with business. Insider remember, the poop map it ranks forty second among states in terms of best states for the middle class. It's the fourth worst state for income. Inequality CNBC has the worst air quality in the nation. That's their local four channel imposes. The fourth highest tax burden on residents, according to Inc dot com. Forbes says it ranks fortieth and healthcare, accessibility, local media says, it's the third worst state for taxpayer return on investment. Also, think tank says it's basically physically insolvent and bad for business. So I don't know where Gavin Newsom is getting his information, but it definitely shows. No familiarity with an anyway. Reality. Not at all. There you go. So I'm not really sure where he's going with the cheerleader for the losing team. No, he is. He is like that very much. So. This is I one of the things that I noted this happened a little bit earlier in the week with Alexandria, Kashia Cortez talking about socialists wave. I'm not I don't like John Delaney. I think that I've not, you know, a fan he's a presidential candidate though, he's the guy who got booed at the at the convention for saying that socialism doesn't really work and Alexandria Cortez tweeted at him saying, quote, since there's so many people running for president and not enough for Senate instead of obsessing over who's a front runner. Maybe we can start with some general eliminations. This awful untrue lineup. Booed for a full minute. John Delaney, thank you. But please sachet away and everyone's like, oh my gosh. She said sachet away. Oh my gosh. Joan. Like socialists are so eager. There's way too eager to make too big of a deal about Cortez parody, and early ought drag Queen quote. See what I'm saying? That's like people are getting way too. I just kind of rolled my eyes. It was, so it was so cliche, they're so incredibly cliche. But I don't know everything that she says. I mean, I think that they have to purchase bots to act like what she's saying is in any way, intelligent, because it just doesn't pass that she would just tell us where it's worked so lovely ever. Yeah noticed they've never actually no one's ever actually done that. So, yeah, just insane. I don't know. All right. So coming up. We have a couple of things to get into first off layoff gaming. I'm so tired. The left is just going full war over. Gaming. And they say it's the last conservative cultural bastion, which I don't even think it's a conservative cultural bastion. But they, they want to go after gaming why because more dudes than chicks play games. And they want to. I think they want to do to that what they've tried to do to football. It's interesting. So we're going to have a nice little discussion about that. And then we're also going to talk about what in the world happened to the flock in the era of Trump and how there were actual person at David Platt's church who are upset that he prayed over Trump. And I'm thinking some y'all need to revisit the book Jona. Okay. Y'all need to be look at the lesson of. Jonah niniveh. God will meet you where you are. And if you won't meet him he'll make you. So we got we'll have that discussion male privilege, which is false term. But there's some insight on this. We got a bunch of stuff is still on the way liberal tears is not just only a great coffee but it's a great lubricant for your firearms. And it's also a great gun cleaner at the liberal, penetrator gun cleaner, which is it's good. It didn't work. I've used it whenever I've been out on the range doing drills with my handgun. I've taken actually take I've taken both of them out there because when you run through a couple of thousand rounds doing things all day long or several days in a row, your gun gets pretty gunky fast. And you gotta get it cleaned out. And so that's where I always make sure that I have liberal tears Bateson had gone oil, and that penetrator gun cleaner in my range bag a percentage of.
"local media" Discussed on WTMJ 620
"McNamara. Eight six six ninety redeye. You know, as we talk about the New York Times, editor studying, the, the, the do mation, the, the local media, local newspapers are doomed, and that's the headline and most will die in the next five years. We talk about the pay walls, and things like that. But you and I both notice, we notice, the daily caller, I don't know how long ago it was some time ago how they would put a risque story in there. Yeah. Remember, it would be it would be you'd have politics would be Trump says this Pelosi says this Nadler, says this bikini clad, women on beach. You notice FOX notice FOX it now. Almost every day, there's a fluff story. Totally in their here's here's the one, I'm looking at right now on FOX Halle Berry defends latest topless, cooking photo. We want your opinion of this photo click here. This see this Merrin, more about personal struggles after horrible breakup? They're throwing in TMZ type of stories. Now, FOX is even on their website. If you go to it. I wonder what their demographic research shows okay, we want news, but please, TMZ up a little bit willia- and give us some skin. Can we get some skin? We get some risque stories in there because we've noticed it at, at, at FOX. And at the daily caller daily caller had done it some time ago, we noticed it seems to be recent for FOX is demographic research showing them that people are saying that news is okay, but gives us some TMZ in a day and age. Eric, when you have all the night shows it used to be entertainment, shows now political shows does everybody have to compete for the same audience. Yeah, you're going to have to. You're going to have to add some things in there that. Are a given and terms of the click. On any digital format or platform. I'm not gonna take off my clothes. Good. Then you'll keep getting clicks. By the way. Have to say I love. I love the looking at here, wakeup call mirror Merrin Morris. The, the country artists opens up about personal struggles after horrible break-up funding in recent. I said, love seeing that story. I remember when she was a nobody in Fort Worth. Remember that? Not connecting. I don't know who mayor and Morris's. Oh, she's a country artist from from Fort Worth, Texas. Oh, yeah. Grammy's and everything. Okay. Oh, yeah. She's she went big time. And i'm. Guy. Great guy listens to our show plays guitar told me about her about ten years ago, he played. He was her guitarist and said, oh, she's really, really good. He goes really said, you know, mean won't play with anybody who's not good. She's really, really good. He was sort of a mentor tour. Okay. And, and yeah so, yeah, she's really big in in Nashville now. Okay. So that's why Fox News put her on the front page. Yeah. All right. That relates to people who follow today's country music. Yeah. Yeah. So. But I mean you have to be, you're a twenty four hour news organization, you're gonna have to be everything to everybody. That's the attempt. You can't possibly covered all, but you can cover all areas. And that's the idea. I don't put that much into the entertainment stories or someone's break-up neither joy, I don't care about their break. Even though there's breaking news out of Hollywood. I will I will go to TMZ. Something happens if if a celebrity. They usually have because Harvey Levin has a lot of context in law enforcement, and they often get the heads up and they get stuff on stories fairly early, and they've been right on a number of things. Other than that. I really don't care about TMC, right? I only care about if something's happened or was this. What was behind this? If it tends to be a bigger story, then and they're on it. They tend to have a lot of the things I the only thing that I and when the TV shows on once in a while a watch it for thirty seconds. Right. Because I like how they slurp on their drinks. You know, I'm talking about the TV shows actually very funny entertaining. It's different though than what they actually do sometimes on the on the website if you've noticed that, right? They actually was some stories. They go more serious online, especially if it's a breaking story because that's what they do. But, but the TV show is more of a. You know, it's, it's the, the staff basically discussing stories and usually, it's fairly funny, I remember I can sit there and think that, you know how when Michael Jackson died and the, you know, and being TMZ and it was the same time, I think fair Fossett died at the same time, and then I remember, Tom Petty's death TMC covering it, because the whole thing was, what did you how did you die? What's going on? And just that, that. So you do actually, they do have credibility when it comes to that kind of breaking new. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean again, Harvey Levin has a lot of friends in law enforcement. And in the courts, so, yeah, certainly, but it's just really interesting. Article in the New York Times editor stating unless you're by did that mean the Washington Post in his paper. But when you when you look at it overall that you need, and I don't really subscribe to anything I do subscribe to the Wall Street Journal, I do pay for the Wall Street Journal. That's expensive. Oh, yeah. It is. But it is for what we do, when, when you were show that talks politics and economics, especially economics understanding the markets and what goes on. There is no better source in the world in my opinion, overall day to day that can that can get you through the, the maze of everything that's going on in an in an organized way where you don't have to spend. A lot of times to get the information elsewhere, might take you a year to get a lot of the information. But the way they have it set up, you can find out most things that are going on economically. I think that the, the, the Wall Street Journal New York or I'm sorry, Washington Post and the New York Times, I think they have people on their staff that are capable of doing really solid work. They most often choose not to, I can't tell you why. When when they chose the road of, of included the Wall Street Journal in their Washington Post New York Times. Okay. I don't know why they chose to you know to just be a. An activist many of them. Why they think that work is going to actually get them street cred, as an activist because at some point you're going to be proven wrong. Then the editor say that, though, that every time they have a Trump story. Yeah. That if it's negative the clicks, go up big break. Right. Because the liberals buy into it goes back to what Maureen Dowd, set, negative news, they shut the door, turn off the TV. Negative news on Trump, though, click all day long that can only last for so long. Now, I know the next person is going to be more evil the next Republican running. Comes president who is that going to be to be more evil help. We'll tell tell me what they're going to do. He do what he what she has to be more evil Trump. Well, what do they have to do with the vice president? I mean, imagine that he runs the president wins a second term and the vice President Mike Pence runs in twenty twenty four and he wins. Well, they're already on that. Mayor Pete had to come out and create a fake war in the media helped him do that. When Mike Pence hadn't even said anything. So they'll have to make it up. We'll have to just make it up, though. Right. It like a Hollywood script. We do live in a society with short memories we go back though, because we do talk radio. You remember those moments where you remember the fewer, and they hate of, of George W Bush, it was unbelievable. He was called Hitler and it was it was Bill Maher who said it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We. Yeah. Bush was Hitler in and Romney was Hitler. And, and McCain was Hitler when he ran, but you know. We really didn't mean it but Trump really is. It's like and that's where they're gonna go again that the next person that doesn't end with Trump. Okay. We're done. Now, the Republicans, okay? Right now, the demonization will continue way after Trump is gone on every single Republican, and I don't know how you up the height of evil. That they have transferred to Trump. Because it it's gone beyond Hitler. It's gone to the devil. It's gone. They're willing to make up a huge narrative that has gone on for more than what will be entering to ours. If you think about it think about this, where because that narrative, I began there in the halls at the FBI, they were, they were conjuring up this plan in the summer of twenty sixteen maybe even before that, we're heading into three years of this ater if they're willing to do that, and take it to the level that they did over the last eighteen to twenty four months in the media. They're willing to make anything. Anything at all? So that's what they'll do continue to do the same. Then at some point, they'll look back and wonder why people turned away. As many clicks as you get, how many is it? That would have been there before that, aren't there. Because once Trump has gone, there's not going to be, I'm sorry. Pence isn't going to be the excitement. I don't care who it is actually, I don't know anybody that's going to live up to that excitement and be tweeting stuff everyday like the current president. So regardless of who it is democrat or otherwise. What do you do from a personal standpoint? Yes, I will have to retire when Trump is done because it won't be any, there won't be anything to talk about anymore. What are you going? How's the left going to take on someone who's not tweeting every day? Who's not saying anything who may go few days without saying something of note. And I think it's important that you said that because you and I remember that President Obama in his first year, he kept doing press conferences, and you and I said in need to stop doing press conferences. You stink at that is numbers were going down. Right. His numbers were going down. And we said you need to take like nine ten month break. We couldn't believe it like a nine to ten month break, then he did not do a press conference heat. Nothing came that couldn't happen today. No, no. People are gonna wonder why, why is he disappeared? Everything. The president did remember. I remember getting to September and October of that year stating can you believe that the president and it was probably March or April of two thousand ten stops? And it was just like how long is this, or excuse me of two thousand nine how long is this going to go on? And then he started coming out more. He started doing press conference, again, because ObamaCare was eating up in, in the fall of two thousand nine but you and I were amazed how long he stayed out of the public view public appearances. Yes. How you doing?.
