"Latent class that got him into as well as Paul brilliance that got him into contention. Number two and a half against he might make Jon Bon approx anyway. I think truth he came over. Like, did I see witness or email? Actually, that was before the days of the manifesto. She went to interfere. I was in between and won the what is now the fairly old school called whatever it was then the powers go. And then went to HTML over three. Which was a file assets from likeable flights to the three festivals so quickly. You're right. I remember being very comfortable for fairy hospitals. So did three months of the entry is just easier to get than the three miles at Sheldon. It'd be interesting to say that those would be behind I wasn't. Massively taking away the wonder of time early might consider going back over hurdles maybe because he's obviously one that he's got good form I think two of it. He won the Liverpool hurdle a couple of years ago. Ran well in the race. So you know the only run again last year. Do you think the time LOC tends to be? It tends to be best flash I think as well. So better ground might see a better late book. After many, just not really convincing all offenses. No, it doesn't work for him. I think what's happened with him in the carstar novices chase is that he's won a race to fell apart. All of his main contenders bombed out, and he managed to keep it together and go and win, but back in deeper company. No, he's not good enough. And surely it's a switch back to the smaller obstacles. In terms of next season, I am maximus would be very interesting for a grand national, maybe an Irish grand national. Braun over a shorter trip for sure. But it's a horse rated one 5 three beating a horse rated one 5 four. I'm pretty certain. That the elite team were at least thinking one 61 62 plus, probably thinking one 65 plus. And they're probably got it, that they've been beaten by a horse rated one 5 three. But the real whacker absolutely loves cheltenham and that's not something that you can take for granted. And so next season, I think he will be a goal cup player. I don't think he's good enough to win one, but he will certainly be in the conversation and the route that he goes will be fascinating. As for Jerry Kalam, we're probably not going to see him again this season. It sounded like at least on race day, like he did not want to run him again, but perhaps we'll see him punches down. Doesn't seem like that race would sue them though. If the forecast is what it should be for ponchos down, how do you envisage both of these horses doing next year? I think they will take a big step up to be honest if they're going to mix it in gold cup type races. I think the middle of the windshield suit jelly column better. Again, he seemed to get better grounds for some reason nowadays that leopard sound. So where he would fit in, I'm not sure. I think both would need to take a big step forward with the thing to be. Potentially challenging for a golf course. Yeah, I completely agree with you. Liszt stoll on the agenda for the real worker. The last time he ran there was the 2021 harvest festival when he was a 150 to one for a maiden hurdle. He ain't going to be a 150 to one this season for when he rocks a lot. And imagine maybe Charlie hall would be both or even entries many clouds will be an option for him. And as his second star tells the public company and build a more picture him into something the better choice. If he got really deep grant ahead of me, maybe Jerry Colombo would be considered as a bottomless people view on race that might see some book again in recent years the grounds be tended to be in a better process and stuff. And we'll tell that. Turner's novice Chase was soft ground on the new course. It was all about mighty Potter, except it wasn't, because the wind goes to the champion trainer. Paul Nichols, which stage dark, given a terrific ride by Harry cobden, not long till maze run an absolute blinder for Laura Morgan and micy Potter could only get third. Ruby Walsh was full of criticism for Davey Russell after the race. He wasn't exactly in love with Paul town and either very keen to get your thoughts on that. We have to talk about the champion trainer though. And I loved my colleague Lizzie Kelly's line on this in the immediate aftermath of the commentary on talks for two. The champion trainer finally the champion trainer roars into life at Shelton and his celebration in the winters and closure afterwards. He did say last year there's more to life than cheltenham. Didn't look that way with his celebration afterwards. And it was deserved. It's a tremendous training performance. It's a terrific piece of keeping the faith from Paul Nichols. He really believed in this horse, but to go from another handicap to winning a grade one was something else Paul. First time, I also looked at Louis fences, he jumped brilliantly to be west cork. Any disability that really shows Todd's a new week. And he's done well to build him back up since I think the ground being really quick and Newbie was blamed for that to feed when he's been by sebastopol. What a small race of London than he did. He did win a good fashion trials. They looked at a class of the opposition and looked like he wanted to go and back into grade one way. Obviously, it was a great one when and novice said all the season before. The cello. And he just jumped on silly, I thought, on Thursday, it's George June pumas impeccable again from the Florence as it was on trials.

"Using the promo code final 23, it's the main man Paul Ferguson Paul welcome back. Thanks for having me. Thank you for being on, my friend, looking forward to having you on for the one of the daily previews as well. So we're recording Sunday and Monday, day one day two, day three, day four, we're gonna have Ben Aiken, breaking down all the stats and form, Paul Ferguson is here along with us. Lizzie Kelly will be alongside us. Mark Milligan, of course. 6 time champion tipster Paul Jacobs will be here. Yeah, lots to get stuck into in the course. The main Denis Oregon and Barry call will have all of the big team lined up for the daily previews Sunday and Monday, final answers for each day of cheltenham, looking forward to that. You've been on the children preview circuit. It's been a busy time for you, my friend. Started last Thursday was the weather beast preview. Which was a good one. That was done. Remotely. Physical panel, Danny Mullins, Nikki Henderson, J mungan. Myself, and it was hosted by Richard Williams, I'd want to Liverpool city center last night. That's a class preview. After watching on Tuesday after Wellington tomato and then up to Scotland on Friday for the imperial race and mother work. Nice. Nicely done. The going is becoming a massive bone of contention because if you're watching these previews and if you've been listening to the final four along which I hope you have, then we've basically been talking about how it's going to be rock hard and it's going to be a road to cheltenham and now there's a suspicion that it could be a bog. There was a status yellow weather warning in effect of the weekend and that's very much come to pass because it's snowing at cheltenham today. I'm sure many of the listeners will have seen pictures posted by Jon Jones racing as an honor from John Jack bills castle with a bit of snow on the ground. Tell me it's not so bad. A little bit. Worrying to see, but we've had plenty of conflicted weather reports in the past few days at base a lot of my early student on the fact that we'll get good to soft ground. I think that's the provider that most people have worked on. Those look now as though it could be a bit more on settled and just looking at met office as we speak, they've got rain from around three, 4 o'clock tomorrow Wednesday, right through Thursday, it does look quite at those looks right and then we were just talking off as they did the BHA site was updated on Monday, two minutes past two in the afternoon, so perhaps they will update it again in an hour, so I'll check it while I was on here, but at the minute. The latest go on the BHA website. So it's good to good

"Still managed to talk myself into rare Middleton. But the any winnings that we get and finally we will, and I'm pretty bullish about this weekend. We'll go to the inter jockey's fund, and that's all courtesy of bed deck. Find out more bet that dot com. So Mark Milligan, who is your beta multiple? Right. Bearing in mind that we've not done particularly well over the last few weeks of these multiples. Don't go on a murder. I'm going to try and keep it simple because we need to get some money in the injured jockeys fund. So I'm going to go for a double. First two races at Kelso up Jack and mcteigue. Like that? Okay. Okay, that's Marx. Multiple Chester, no pressure. What's yours? As well. I'm not going to go for outrageous long prices. I'm going to keep it. They go for favorites. And I think I'm going to go for the mere lion in the two 25 big house. And paint the dream in the two 45 a new brake. I'm loving it lads. They will pay nicely. £50 doubles on those horses will come in feedback. We are coming for you. Chester, I thoroughly enjoyed having you on the show today and very much looking forward to getting your inside again on the show in the future. You have been a revelation, my friend. And I owe Lizzie Kelly extra shots of espresso and coffee because it was Lizzie, Lizzie's idea to approach you. And it was absolutely genius. And it's been a pleasure to be on, so very welcome. Looking forward to having you on again very, very soon. And Mark, your cheltenham dates are on the way to you. And of course, looking forward to breaking down the cheltenham festival with you, but also we'll have one more week of previewing racing, standard enough racing before the epic contest of cheltenham is on our scene. Yeah, it's going to be hard to come to the excitement of next week's podcast, isn't it? But we'll do our best. We got the imperial cup, which spoiler alert give Vega wins to enhance dance. But I'll justify that next week on the show and I always like taking a good old tilt and building up the cheltenham kitty at the imperial cup. As long as it doesn't then back far spectacularly. That is it. Remember, if you would like to be involved in a cheltenham festival runner, all about Sunday dot com. Watch house cross, you will hear Henry dummy talk about the horse's preparation, how he's getting on in a cheltenham countdown to cheltenham stable tour special tomorrow

"Got a VIP card, there's something on those lines. They offer betting on all sports, including guaranteed odds on UK and Irish racing. You can bet on the NFL right after cheltenham on Sunday. But you know they don't do? Casino. They ain't no casinos with kaluki. We had safer gambling week, which by the way, Rory, I'm not sure about you. I was not aware that it was the 5th consecutive year of safer gambling week. And yet there were emails being sent up by sports books taking part in that. Offering free spins. Jesus Christ. Yes, which I was there was one company in particular who accidentally sent out promotional casino emails. You've won we did not do it, and it's that. God always. Anyway, they are available for you now. So it's K a LO KI kaluki sportsbook or kaluki racing when you're there. You can follow them on Twitter, kaluki KA capital, or and as I said, clicky racing will be a cheltenham and they've got pictures all across the country. There are some people who look at the casino offers as a bonus. And then end up doing their brains. Don't do that. Take the offers that kaluki give you and those offers are the much bet, but more importantly, fair prices. These are poachers, turn gamekeepers. People who are professional bettors who had their accounts closed down who went, you know what? We can do better. And we will do better. And they are doing better. Kaluki sportsbook, check them out now. And they will be offering odds. Of course, as they're at cheltenham on Sunday, which I'm presenting on talk sport two, along with Lizzie Kelly, looking forward to it, the ten past one will be the Mueller jewelers dot com novices Chi ice. So we've talked about Cartier watches on the previous cup podcast and now we've got the smaller jewelers. I have no idea how interested you are in discussing this race Rory. Do you want to just briefly go through it or skip to the next? The first challenge on Sunday. One ten. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's an interesting way. Unless it reins, I don't think we'll see Oscar elite. He was the horse. I put up a wonderful following in Paul Ferguson's horses to follow. I think he's I think he's a very promising chaser. And obviously, again, yard absolutely flying with the chances of the moment Collins art. Counselors. I think jewel take over the license in January. That's right. But he hasn't completed all his BHA courses so he can't do it just yet. And I think 1st of January, he makes a good time to do that. I know they like Oscar elite and the Tesla jar had three winners and extra the other day. Naturally I'm not the fourth runner they had on the car if he fell. Yes, no luck at all. But yeah, I think most police are really nice for us. He was a place at cheltenham and at a entry last season. When Steph up to three miles, and I think he's a very interesting in the making, but he does need softish Grimes. He missed their tour meeting because of quick grounds. And unless there's some soft and the going description, I'm not sure he runs here. The quicker it is the better it does, he know he's won twice and quickest grind. This season, including at the last meeting here, but he might have been slightly lucky because under supervision of national twist and Davis was challenging strongly when he went to duck out on the run in the point where the intersection of the courses is. That's where chin man ended up running on it and the Jesus Roy does not even, of course. Well they just had a rope across. So this time they actually had a bit of real, but it's still the horses are still aware. That's where that's where they go out for another circuit. Yeah. And it can happen. So under supervision dubbed there, lost all chance almost came down and in the end was beaten 12 lengths, but he was trading odds on at the time. It was amazing the sound kept the partnership in tech, in fact. Yeah. So we necessarily get on. I'm not sure mint conditions are absolutely lovely horse for Johnny Cambridge, but he's never looked like he's a chair, so he was forced in a point to point. But there's not an awful lot of him. You know, he was a really tough hurdle last season. But he doesn't strike me physically as a chaser. So I'd be delighted to see him succeed because he's a really likeable horse, but I'm not convinced by that. 300 through 5 is well topped up, he was beaten on his chest AV by does he know then got the job done an extra. I can't really see him reversing for him or does he know on similar sort of grind. I thought, does he know John better that day all told? And there are no level weirds again. And I don't think the form that the other three 5s should in beating Asuka honey bee is exceptional. It won't be 15 lengths, of course. You can really knock that. But ask a honeybee, has got plenty of ability, but it's pretty easy to beat. Yeah. That's a little bit off putting. And street of Dorian's in there as well. I wrap this up and I just say, if Oscar elite takes his chance and to be fair, he is chalked up what Brendan Paul on board. Collins has heard won this race last year with the big breakaway. But crucially, he won this race in 2016 with this old crack. So he tends to go with horses he holds a very high regard and the states very much like that. And that's part of the reason I like Australia is that Colin dropped him back to two miles for a race of Exeter, which he's won all his best horses in over the years, even though most of those horses are three miles yesterday and a two mile novice hurdle at extras not the ideal scenario for them. But the fact that he went there suggested that he was almost saying Oscar elite is my anointed nonstick for next season. And I should say, he goes like this race. An Oscar elite, I would imagine will run as long as there's enough ease on the ground. But he wasn't on one of the last meeting because the ground was deemed to be answerable. So as long as he gets the chance, then remember, that is the worst out of all the horses that were already mentioned. That's the only put in pill for instance. Excellent horses to follow with weather bees. So yeah. Well, let's check it out. Okay, the one 45 current betting for Sunday with kaluki is impaired. The more force hawkswell 6s yellow enki 6s. We've got a few favorites and here we go another one, 7s. Ramses did say yeah. Oh, we love them 8s port Stanley 8s and Tiger roll. Tens. Does the Tiger take his chance? And he kept chase. You might you know, it was something that has been talked about by Gordon. When we're at the open day, which was delightful..

"Platinum, if you might like. We will be making the jump to Spotify. Later in the week. So don't freak out. If you listen to us on Apple podcasts and look, without sounding like a complete more than normal, all of the tech that I use is Apple. But when Joe Rogan jumped to Spotify and believe me, his deal is significantly better than you. When he made the jump to Spotify, I started listening, obviously there. And within two weeks, I had just transferred all of the podcasts that listened to the brilliant idiots, flagrant two with Andrew schulz, football weekly, Tim cast, breaking points with Kristen Sagar, all these shows. I transferred them all to Spotify. And I listened there. So you don't have to have a Spotify account. You don't have to have to pay any money. We don't want to do that. That's some podcasts, go down that subscription model route. We could have joined lumiere. Again, that would be behind the paywall. No Patreon, no, we wanted to do it this way. And hopefully you'll join us on Spotify. But if you don't want to, if you want to keep it real with Apple podcasts or pod bean or stitcher or tune in, have no fear. We're still going to be there. We're still going to be an Apple podcast. We're still going to be on all of those podcast platforms. It's just one slight little thing and that is that we've had a brilliant relationship with SoundCloud. They have been great to us. They've actually sent us looking here at a trophy final for a podcast. World's number one sports podcast for the month of March, 2020. On certain cloud. There is another one for this year. 2021. And a trophy for hitting the 5 minute plays Mark, a couple of years ago. And a trophy for being the most consistent number one UK sports podcast as well. They've been really, really good to us. We might not be on SoundCloud anymore. So I know we have a big following there, but I hope that you'll join us on Spotify, hope that you'll join us on whichever podcast app it is that you like, but if you like this show, if you like the content from Rory from Lizzie from Lucy Andrew Blair white and all the team tumble, like I mentioned so many more, if you like the interviews. And if you like how we did this podcast, where we broke them up into two, where Dave and I were discussing the stories and Lizzie and I discussed the weekends racing. If you like that format, then let me know on social media, drop me a DM, and let me know how you feel about Spotify as well. How do you feel about that? If you're happy to join us there, but it won't cost you anything. It is completely free. I'm an Apple music, subscriber. I pay for Apple music. And I can have the Apple music family plan. So it can be on the homepods and whatever, but so I don't have a Spotify account. Yeah, we're moving to Spotify. So it's just for the proof that you don't need as Spotify can to listen to your favorite podcasts. And we will still be available on Apple and others but will all of our promotion will basically go through Spotify. So if you like the show, like hearing the content that we do, particularly with gear up for the jumps awful lot of stable tours lined up as well that we very much hope that you'll enjoy more content to do with weather bees and Paul Ferguson as well. So with that in mind, we hope that you'll hit the subscribe button or.

"Yeah, I mean, the end, the end of the day. Is that just as they finish the handicap and go yet done? Yeah, oh damn it, we've got the version for charity and the November handicap to come and the breeders cup and the Melbourne cup. Besides from that, the jumps is here. So we're all the Melbourne cup just doesn't really have a feature in my life. But not this year anyway. Not with the way they're handling. We're going to be doing a show on Australia and how things are going there. Jesus Christ, neither of us would want to be living there right now. We have a significant audience in Australia. It's one of the reasons why we're I think it's am I right to other that it's this week we're moving to Spotify. It is this week. It's one of the reasons why so there's so many British and Irish and maybe Australians as well who don't like the fact that we slacked off wings at every single opportunity. Who listened to the show? And America's third Australia's fourth Canada's 5th. All right, you can run number one. So the other kingdom number one on our number two. But it's a goddamn nightmare over an Australia right now. And not just the way that they're using MRI machines and telling foreigners to feck off from coming over to compete in the cup. But the fact that the police are literally running an authoritarian state, you got to be in by 8 p.m. and I'm pretty boring these days after COVID. But if you tell me that I've got to be in my house at 8 p.m., I'm the kind of person who'd be like, fuck you, I'm going outside. So you can't even pop down the road in your slippers and get some milk. They'll tase you. Seriously. I'm serious. You're like, that's the road in your slippers. They're like, where are you going? I'm just going to get some milk. No, you're not. Over the head and dragged off to prison. Slight exaggeration. Slight exaggeration. But it was so bad that a guy got in a lift. And because he didn't have the vaccine. They plastered his name all over the, all over the news. Have you seen this man? He's not vaccinated, and he might have called it. Have you seen him? That's what they're doing in Australia. It's unbelievable. So yeah, we're going to get stuck in. We've just lost all those differently. Oh, it's gone. 'cause they love the people are revolting. So they love that. So it started very few. So you think the better ground he can have one last or a? Yeah, for me, I just enjoy watching him. I suppose that from the point of view of a racing fan. You know, as a whole span, watching him is something that I thoroughly enjoy. You know, I didn't even get that cut off about the fact that he was beaten last time over a long shot. He still ran a great race in my opinion, like true Charlotte is just basically a younger version of him, like he's incredibly talented and yeah, like his it was his time to shine. I think you'd have to be a little bit worried if the veteran was still beating the new shiny toy, wouldn't you? That's also true Shan's ground. That's what he loves. Yeah, exactly, yeah. So, yeah, I would personally like to see I'm looking forward to seeing him. He is a horse that I've been lucky enough to watch in person and one of those best days was the day up at York this summer where frankly I've not seen a huge amount of performances like the one that he put in. To win that day. And actually, I don't want to get onto the whole retirement thing, but, you know, it would be nice to sort of sit down and watch him one last time if he does retire. And if he doesn't and I'll get to watch him next year anyway. Surely game over. Shortly after stud. Yeah, I mean, look, they've been pretty open haven't they about not wanting him to kind of the phrase they use is fantastic. They don't want him to be a boxer who thinks he's still got it when everyone knows he hasn't. So yeah, look, they've been really open about what they're going to do and.

"Not? Well, I don't know. I mean, crikey, there are lots of I mean, have we got any sort of real data about this? Pro forma will give you all the data. Yeah, it's the only thing that will be in the back to some people's minds. But I think if he, if he travels, that's enough for me. If they decide, we're going to newbury and we're going to go for the Hennessy. Then that's enough. Well, I mean, you have to kind of you have to kind of wonder why he was out for a whole year. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you could say something as simple as an injury. Am I being a conspiracy theorist if I think to myself or maybe he's maybe he's a really nice horse and they didn't want him bumping into everything else? Or is that thinking too much? She's hardly got monkfish. I mean, maybe, maybe that's too much of a conspiracy theory. That's kind of Alex Jones levels of I didn't want him to come on. George Soros. I mean, my favorite horse in training was one fish. So for me, like I can see why you'd want to stay away from him. Door sores wrong, Willie Mullins. Don't you run that horse? Okay, all right. All right, I'll put my tin hat back on. Yeah. I leave it on. It'll be great for a Twitter meme as well, by the way. What was the line from? Yeah, so Sean was saying afterwards that he had obviously Sean's won the one of the Sheldon festival for William Mullins. But there was no explanation as to why the horse has been off for so long. So obviously, there was something wrong with him. Yeah. I think the only reference made was there's been a few problems along the way. That was it. But they didn't go into details. Okay, well, yeah, so there was clearly something that made him quite difficult to train. Perhaps. Yeah, it wasn't that Alex Jones running up and said tort source..

"First. Yeah, 'cause they could easily 2022 go a cup winner. No, 23 go a couple. No, no, go 2020. King George winner. That would be so racing post for that. And also making the comparison with denman, demon didn't run in the king George. That was his race. I mean, I think they've all got a little bit of enthusiastic really haven't they? There's lots of rides. Anyway, get stuck in for the king George. King George for the marsh. The marsh, king George, gold cup travel. The Lizzie Kelly trophy. There you go. Lizzie Kelly slash clickbait trade paper trouble. Brief word about that man Willy Mullen speeding Joseph O'Brien. So see of green and gold in Ireland. In the JT McNamara, labros monster national, it's lovely that races run on his own. And is a constant reminder of the fact that jockeys are I mean, you suffered some really bad injuries. Literally risked life and limb. Every single day you went onto the track and then you'd go on Twitter and be like tour before. Yeah, you tried traveling 40 miles an hour. That's why I love that paddy power Rubio. Yeah. It's such a good advice. You have to go up to 40 miles and if you've never seen it, just a few YouTube patty power. Ruby Walsh, and you can come up. Patty power, ruby Walsh troll. That should get it for you. They track down a troll, put them in the back of a van back of a Jeep, and then say to him, right, 40 miles an hour. Off you go. You jump out. What? Well, so. See how easy it is for you. Because that's what he did. He decided he would. That makes perfect sense, doesn't it? History is there in the making. And he just throws himself off any power at the last. Yeah, of course he does. Yeah. Fuck an idiot. Anyway, on the ropes, wins for Williams and Sean O'Keefe. Who is developing a fine career for himself? And another big win for chiefly Yeah. It was a sort of typical typical sort of Irish, long chase, wasn't it? I mean, everything was so you know that he was traveling well, you can see he was jumping well. Well, it was it. How many coats have we gotten from the show? It was a typical Irish long chase. You know, I do all this dress up. Anymore already, then it needs to be. I thought, yeah, all the main protagonists were there, Joseph had runners. Dennis Hogan had runners, the bromide was in plenty with chants, but realistically, this horse I thought he was given a lovely ride. It was very patient he didn't actually jump. I think maybe it was the first or the second. Right, yeah. And Sean O'Keefe just gave him, gave him a chance to just find his rhythm, you know, jump nicely and you could see he was always he was always troubling really well. Frankly, the colors are very bright, so at least you can sort of keep an eye on him. Some of the others were all about. They were start blurring into one. But yeah, I thought it was a toy. The race has thrown up some obviously like fantastic winds in the past. They cabaret queen, total recognition. So Tiger roll, I would be really interested to see whether they come over to newbury. With this horse for the ladbrokes, I would say. Well, every time I say Hennessy, I get told off. And then I have a traditionalist. Stick with being your traditionalist. You're right, it's the Hennessy. So much better name than ladbrokes is there. No offense lab rooks, but come on. No offense. In that situation, I think ladbroke's was almost better to have called it like a different name. Call it the labral Tennessee. I know that you are still giving Hennessy cognac for sponsorship, but everybody just thinks it's the Hennessy. Just do it. Yeah. Let's do it. Yeah. Simple things to do. Anyway, I wonder if you'll come over to that. It would be great if he did. That was my thinking because he basically tried to emulate total recall. And the last time we saw him on the track, he was beaten by a horse called monkfish. Yes, mental dies, and. It's off for a year. And obviously, unfortunately, we're not going to see more fish this year. But to be second among fish at fairy House in November. In a beginner chase and they're not run again until. A competitive traditional long Irish chase as he called it. I think the he's clearly overseas got the world of potential. Is the bounce factor a thing in your in your mindset? Is it real? To bounce factor is the bounce factor this constructed idea that we have to explain why a horse bounces after their second run after a layoff or is it actually a real thing? Well, I suppose the holes. or.

"Legend and regular. Even he was a bit taken by the click bait from the trade paper about brave man's game. 2022, king George winner, here we come. Jesus. I think his tweet was Jesus. I'm emotionally attached to the horse, but this is a bit over the top. That being said he was mustard. This was his chasing debut at Newton abbot and he's won by 5 and a half lengths from fusil raffles. Big breakaway gave ended up falling. At the last, but the fact that he was being sent off odor told you a lot, I was somewhat disappointed with him. Cheltenham and I was I think to be fair, childhood winners don't have a particularly good record in the national, but I was even more disappointed with them at entry. And it may just be very keen on your take on that. It maybe he just had a hard rice and it was too much for him to come out and expect to put up such a big performance. But Paul has got him out early, and chasing was always going to be the name of the game for him. And he's he's certainly got off to life in the right way. Yeah, I mean, I think, I think the chalo is quite deceiving race and that's exactly the kind of race I was alluding to earlier where you have a very small field and everyone kind of bob's about and then eventually the horse that's odds on takes it up three out and sprint's home. And it looks visually very impressive, but actually there's not a huge amount of substance to the performance. I think chalo quite often throws horses up like that. Yeah, it was obviously disappointing that he didn't he didn't he didn't win, I suppose that child. He ran an okay race behind two horses that look incredibly good. And I think it was just another sort of nail in the coffin of the performances of the British trainers last year at the festival. And then yeah, you said, you know, you didn't go very well, but by then we've sort of all. We were all a bit down in the dumps and it was just another sort of mind. To be fair, you know, realistically at the end of the day got beaten by a horse that although it was 66 to one. Rather cracker, didn't you? And crikey horses, you know, no one had heard about hoists and all lucinda Russell, north, great trainer brilliant day for her, obviously, to have such a big winner at one of them more local more local tracks. I say that. I don't think people are coming for you with bells on. So I don't feel that Nissan is local to anywhere. Already. She's like in the sort of I don't want to say outer hebrides because she's not. But she's not like, in Scotland somewhere. Somewhere. It's a bit like Kelly. No one really knows where he trains. We just know that he trains. It's somewhere in Ireland. It's close to Perth. What is it? Is it really? I don't know if it is that close, though. Maybe it's not the Shetland islands. You're right, though. It was a brilliant performance on the day and a kind of hate doing this, but if you take a voice in your out of the race, brave man's game is an 8 linked manner. So you could look at it that way, but it doesn't work in that regard. And it was a great opportunity for my thought of the day. It's just probably the fact that he'd had a hard race and bob ballinger looks to be an absolute superstar. But how much better and we're talking early on that. But even as a hurdler, how much better as a chaser did he look to you potentially I thought, yeah, I thought he looked, I thought he looked amazing. He was just foot perfect. And what I thought was really interesting was that maybe once or twice, maybe you could say once or twice hurry allowed him to really have a cup at the fences. But even when he was essentially what looked like popping round in front, he was gaining or making himself so much brown without even looking like he was trying to. It was just so fluid. He was so economical. He was careful, but not cumbersome. He was he was electric, really, but without, without being too flashy, you know, it all just looked. It was quite strange to watch, because you kind of looked as if he might be something that he wasn't, you know, when he was careful he thought, oh, always going to lose ground here. But he didn't. And oh, he's going to he's going to have a this one. And he kind of did, but it was nothing to showman like. It was a phenomenal, I thought, phenomenal display of jumping. And yeah, he looked very impressive. He looked really impressive. Fusel raffles. I thought put up a decent display, but I mean, it went along with his head on one side for most of the most of the race looking quite keen. And when it actually went push came to shove, he found nothing. And the big breakaway watching him, I just think that he always looks under pressure. And at the last when he needed to jump well, he put down on Brendan and tested the fence and came down. I just think that he looks like a horse that might stay all day. And other than that, I don't really know what you do with them. So yeah, look, it was all about it was all about brave brave man's game, wasn't he went all day? He made it look phenomenally easy. He made the rest that fairly ordinary. I know there were only three others in it and one of them was was not particularly interesting. But he made the other two, but fairly easy, fairly normal, ordinary and we know that fusil raffles is definitely a good benchmark of a horse. Yeah. And runner up in the marsh last year as well. So you're bringing in proper form there, too. That then brings me to my question for cheltenham for you. Because they're talking about the future, the rising stars. I think it was the future service. The rising stars never says chase next month is his next target. They didn't appear to be in a rush to want to step him up to three miles. What do you think is his ideal distance going to be this year? This was over two miles 5. Is it going to be the festival that was his chase in the season? It's.

"Christoph Simeon's face in the ark, where that brilliant zoom in picture of sumi on where he's like, what the fuck is that? On the outside, just as he's about to hit the line thinking, I've got it. The last person he wanted to see was the green and yellow of Shane Murphy for Buick. We'll see. We'll see the week to go. Or at least a few days anyway. The Irish Cesaro went to John Kelly and lineout John's 80s now and the race wasn't as strong, but terrific performance, man, particularly considering the fact that Aiden O'Brien and again not a great week for anyone and Willie Mullins. Had their respective representatives. So well done to Shane foley and to John Carly and I'm sure that there were great celebrations for all involved. Also on talk sport two, we were covering Philips one two tumble Brian was telling the trade paper that he was having nightmares about having picked the wrong horse. He didn't go for the JP silks. He went for lad. We ended up going our favorite compound who fancied I should say, you had an incredible day on talk to war two banging into the winners. Wednesdays to Saturdays from one p.m.. And what was your overall take in hindsight of the Persian war this year? I thought it was a really true run race. The times were pretty good. They didn't actually really let up Gavin Sheen went out on up on parole for Jamie Snowden. He made the decision, obviously he was going to make it. And I made a really decent test of it, I thought they didn't hang around. And to be honest with you, like, it was a good, I thought it was a good race. There weren't a lot in it. I kind of felt like lateral lads was possibly. Maybe going down. I was quite surprised at how short he was in the betting. And I wondered if that was because of the earlier result in the day with Naples hill winning the first, obviously a horse that had beaten him in the past. Whatever a full camp was a good price at 5 to one. And I thought that it was quite impressive, actually. So yeah, all in all. It's always horrible if you pick the wrong pick the wrong horse, but. Lucky for Aidan Coleman, I suppose. Yeah, looking for Coleman and looking for tomato things significantly improved the next day. So you didn't have to panic too much. In terms of compound, there's no immediate plans. He is a novice until the end of the month, so that's going to be considered. But I just wonder with him if he's a horse that they'll his official rating is one three four is one of 5 links. We're recording on Monday, so the writings don't come out until tomorrow. And we didn't want to delay, but I would I can't imagine he's a horse that they're going to be slogging around the winter. And I just wonder if he's a horse that we should be keeping a very, very close eye on. For the cheltenham festival handicaps. Chop them talk already. Yeah. Yeah, I think you probably hit the nail on the head, really. Depends how he comes out of this. I mean, that was a grade too. So, you know, he still won a graded race. And he won it pretty well to be honest. And it was like I said, it wasn't like some of these big races when they don't have very many runners. They're kind of turned into a bit of a joke and everything looks visually very impressive because, you know, they've quickened up, but basically they crawl through the first mile. So you kind of get like a distorted idea about how good these horses are. But on that, on this occasion, you know, it was a true run race and chapter if you go hard early. It's a long way home. And this did it pretty well. And beat the others fairly easily, really. You know, time will tell of how good the other horses are that he's beaten, but so far so good with this horse, really. And yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe he's not top class. And I mean, cheltenham, or any of these great ones, you know, you have to be top class to really even be able to keep up in a great one. And still be there at the last. You know, let alone actually win them. So yeah, I'd agree with you. He would, at the moment, he's got the right profile to kind of go down that route of the handicaps later in the year. But I think, you know, I being being optimistic, you know, you'd like to think that he will improve from his performance at chapter and there could be bigger reasons for him out there for him to win. Well, to back you up in 2019, this table won the race with Tom hill, who had the exact same racing post writing at the time and was the same age. So and he really should have won. The potato always. So maybe that's the route that he would be ending up going down. But we'll see. We'll see. We'll see how it all plays out. John dance is a final frontal podcast..

"Answer to every question asked, do you think the source could improve over the winter and be a force in the Darby? Possibly. How long has it been straight? This is gonna go in a mug. Oh, that's gotta go in a final front of podcast mug. I love it. Did you did you feel in any way sorry for burning victory or were we just like, yeah, screw you, Ireland. That's one for the Brits. No one felt sorry for William Buick. Because, I mean, you're out in front and you're thinking all I've got to do is just get to the line. And you feel someone come beside you and you sneak a peek and realize it's ocean be like, how annoying would that be? Like at that stage, you'd be like, can I just be beaten by anyone else? Like anyone else. That would be really frustrating for me. But yeah, I didn't feel bad. Do you know what? Willie Mullins. And also Henderson, but Willie Mullins is just unreal isn't he? Like he can train anything. And it's just something I think is just so phenomenal. There are loads of training as you can fit in that bracket Allen kings and other one that springs to mind. Like, how is it that they're able to win grand nationals? And then train these horses on the flat as well. Find horses that suit like a dual career, they can run on the flat, they can run over hurdles, whatever. And they can just train them to do anything. Will that be a Willy Mullins suck a snack? Is that the next thing that he's going to try and do? Like, why not? Why not? We get Willie Mullins bingo at every cheltenham festival. It's like, where is the Williams horse going to actually run? Is it going to be the article? Will it be the RSA? Will it be the JLT? Good the marsh as it is now, could it possibly be the not quite four minors? Maybe it's going to be amateur writers. Maybe it's not going to be chase. Who the hell knows? Who knows? No one ever knows. Willie doesn't know. Will he just speak so loud? He just goes, I was even talking about this with Paul Ferguson last week about appreciate it. If I was to ask you right now, where does appreciate the code? Champion hurdle or the article? For me, I would always like young horses to have a season of senior heartland if that makes sense. Because I just think that there are so many opportunities. So if you've got a seriously good horse and you think it could be a champion hurdle contender, like why miss that season? Because once you go chasing, obviously, it's not particularly normal to revert back to her doing. And you've just basically taken yourself out of all those championship heard or races instead. And I just think you might regret that further on down the line when they're a bit older and they've been chasing for a while and you think, do you know why didn't we have a crack at the champion heard all the stay as hard or whatever? So for me, like I would rather see him have another season of senior hurtling if you like and then go chasing. Watch back his interview with Lydia on racing TV cheltenham. And it goes something along these lines. Yeah, that kind of was a tour like performance to me. And I very much had chasing a mind for him for a long time. So I would think that his target next year will be the oracle. The owner is interested in the champion hurdle. So I suppose he could be a champion hurdle horse, as well. So we'll discuss those options. And it's like, wait, wait, you just you're just going uncle and all of a sudden it's like, wait, but maybe and that's one of the things I love about Willie is that he keeps for all that it can be very frustrating from an anti post betting perspective. If you're a real fan and you managed to also guess right as to where Williams versus going to end up at Shelton, first of all, you should get an award for that straight away. You should almost get paid out for the fact that the horses turned up in the race. That should be number one. Number two, if the horse goes in wins and actually fulfills that level of potential. Then you've achieved a great thing. I was actually expecting you to say, oh, I would love to see him go chasing because he looks like that kind of horse. I wasn't expecting you to say why would you blow an opportunity of being a champion harder? Why would you blow an opportunity of being a second season hurdler? And that's probably what Williams is thinking right now. He's probably going. For the champion hurdle, can we get funny? Yeah, well I suppose part of the path, you know, what he does is also try and juggle all these superstars. And you know, you can't always keep them apart, but I'm sure are you sure he wouldn't be human if it didn't cost his mind about what else he's got in that category? Yeah. It will be fascinating to see how that plays out. I'd like to talk to you more about that. I don't know if this show. But victory for the UK, written by an Irish Chucky. Jess considers herself Irish. Although her parents very much do not. By the way, to clarify. No, they're anti Irish. No, that's how dare you. And for a great cause as well. And as somebody who was in hospital today with my mother getting her annual cancer checkup and her coming out with a big monomer face because she's being told, we don't we don't need to see you for a year. Well done. Congratulations. Lovely. It's fantastic that Jess and the team are raising funds, but also raising awareness for royal marsden cancer. Charity. And if you were going through that battle, there is hope. There is very much hope. So well done to both and all connections and that was a big, big win for Rosen Murphy. "Lizzie. Yeah, I mean, that was such a long wait. It doesn't feel like a long time ago, but really doesn't big bucks. Rule the world made in us, good old revs of ola. Celestial halo. Dear God. What names? Let's write it. That is scary, isn't it? The authority. It's made me feel. It's made me remember being in the winners and not the winners and closure. Being in the bedding enclosure and just moving down to the finish line, not being on her for the champion hurdle. But remembering ruby sitting up in his stirrups as he crossed the line waving at the crowd and just like feeling this aura of power hitting you from the track, as she bolted up in the champion hurdle. And it was like, why couldn't you sign up last year in a mirror? Oh my God. Much money too. But it meant so much to him and I think probably for those reasons. The defeat in the stairs. The mayor's hurdle then she comes out and does that. Every now and again, those trips down memory lane can be well worth exploring. So I think that's a great point about for some reason. And it could just be coincidence. Maybe Nikki is seeing something in him though that is thinking making him think, no. Not an angelic track. We'll state a flat track. But stairs hurdle is the target according to Jess and we'll have to see what he does. And how he progresses. But do you feel that the scope is there for him to improve further as a stare? Possibly. I mean, how long has a piece of string? I mean, it's probably never going to be a grand national or city. Unlikely. So. The.

"There's any power. And any power running in the stereotype, was she beaten in that race in your view or was it the world hurled in? Whatever. Was she beaten in that race because she didn't stay, not because she wasn't good enough. Crikey. What a question. Firstly, it was a very long time ago. I don't know. I think that's I think that's a hard question. I mean she was only beaten like I lengthen her. Yeah. You know, it's such small margins. You could not possibly say she didn't stay. She did stay. But she just she just didn't quite stay as well as more of that. And on that day, I think she was just simply beaten by a horse that was on the day better than her. I mean, the horse turned, you know, more of that. Never really, I don't know. He'd never really kind of came a light for me. You know, he was a horse. It looked like he was going to be the next big thing, especially in terms of chasing, you know, he looked like he was going to, but anyway, look. I would say that she just got beaten by a horse that was more right than her on the day. I do remember hearing that they were trying everything. To get McCoy to ride more of that and not the Rebecca just after she crossed. Yeah. I knew it would come to me eventually. Yeah, obviously he was just slightly sickened. But great one for a friend of the show, Barry Gary. So he was happy yet. And that trip down memory lane was brought to you by.

"They just so there's this two postscripts to this. First of all, it's Nick Anderson's third win in the race. And you have this epic duel between Murphy and William Buick for the jockeys championship, which as we're recording is down to 5 now. And it looked all over at one point. And now it's a very, very close call. And after what oxygen had gone through, which we discussed with Dave earlier on the Friday, which is the day that you and I were on talk sport too when he was stood down. Him coming out and having been beaten in a couple of fancy horses. And managing to get the victory over William Buick, were both of them giving it their all, both of them giving tactically brilliant rides with two horses who were also just produced to perfection by their wily campaigners. It was a tremendous finish to the race. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, my first thought was that I was pleased that William Marlins had been beaten by British trainer, thought that stuff in a handicap. I do. Things going better. This is what we like to see. You know that when I interviewed Richard Johnson after he retired, and I was saying to him about he was joking with the average domination, he said, they came out of the waiting room and the British jockeys and just started cheering whenever a British placed. That's how embarrassing it was. God, Ireland. There..

"I can't really, you know, I think for her, she's as good as we've really seen. This season she's been she's been incredibly good from her first run through to through to her last run at new market the other day. You know, she's been she's just been empirical, really. And, yeah, you could easily say, you know, why, why can't you go for a race like that? She's she looks superb. And, you know, for her, she should really even improve over her break. She should come back in, stronger. And when you think about that, when you think about how she's going to kind of grow and she's going to mature and also her race, you know, the way that she processes her races and how she travels throughout her race is like her confidence will obviously be sky high after such an amazing campaign. So yeah, I think we've heard this guy's dilemma. Two wins new market. One of them, of course, was on the July course, but she's just buried her opposition. She's been favored in all four starts. She might start in a Guinea's trial next year. But they may very well just go straight to the guineas, but they're going to go for it. And John Garland didn't seem to be put off by the idea of going up and trip as well. So we can dream, you would love to think that she could be a Guinea's winner who then goes for the oaks, similar to a horse like love, and others before them minding. For example, so let's try not be too greedy, but at the same time, be complete greedy goods. Also hail. So this is going to butcher it. Say it with confidence and you might just get away with it. I'll say that. So if you say this is clearly incredibly talented, but at the same time, is a horse who is very, very frustrating. Because all the talent is there. It's just a matter of the team being able to harness it. And they change tactics and boy does he put up one hell of a display. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it was fantastic to watch. He was he was just exciting, wasn't he? I mean, sometimes you just sit down and you watch horse race and you just thoroughly enjoy what you see. He came out the gates. They're really forward with him. And it was just it was easy, you know? And you just couldn't believe that he was able to quicken as well as he did. And they just couldn't really get an error. And obviously, it's like a little bit of a black spot next to his name because he is a little bit inconsistent, sometimes you can't really figure out why, but, you know, he was he was very good, I thought new market and it seemed everything seemed to go to plan with him. Obviously, the tactics worked to treat. So it's definitely what you would imagine he would he would do in the future. I think the plan and I'm willing to be corrected on this. But I believe the plan is to winter him now. And come back in Dubai. Yeah. Which of course, obviously, you could also love to try and clean up there. But there's no reason why there's a 5 year old as a son of dubawi out of a scirocco mayor that he wouldn't just strengthen up again. And it's hard to believe that as a four year old, that's his first win in group three company. Yeah, absolutely. You know, he's a really nice. He's a really nice horse and I agree. I think watching him the other day, you just couldn't believe they hadn't fallen into place with him before. So, yeah, like you say, he's very well bred. And everything seems to have I mean, although I don't want to kind of put him in the inconsistent bracket because although he kind of is, I think sometimes you can look through those racism and you can I think yeah, sometimes you can kind of understand where it went wrong and for him like you say he's going to have another break now go off globe trotting like they do. And it will be interesting to see, you know, like you said, whether he will develop whether you will get a bit bigger. And I think I think frontrunners are a really interesting kind of horse. I think some horses are almost natural frontrunners. And when they realize that they can kind of boss things the way that they want to, then it gives them big confidence boost. So I think for me I used to love riding frontrunners for that reason. There was something about them where they wanted to be in control, and they were actually happier, just going out and plowing their own furrow. Rather than kind of dancing to someone else's tune and, you know, if this works for him, as clearly, it does. You know, that we might see a little bit of improvement as a result of that as well. And there is the new 7 for long race at maidan two for them to look forward to. And they'll have another horse called create a force. Who could be a player there too. So we'll see how his career unfolds. But the fact that he's a gelding means that we're going to get to enjoy him hopefully for another few years in the flat game. So a lot to be excited about. Together for racing international Cesaro, which handicap has become a jumps trainer's benefit with the exception of. Roger Charleston with withhold Huey Morrison. And of course, Mark Johnson would like his name mentioned as well. So there you go, Mark. Consider that favor. Complete. "And make sure to use the offer code CW 50 FFP. My guest as we look back on the weekends racing, including the flat. Slightly biased towards the jumps maybe, and that might have something to do with the fact that she is the first woman to win a grade one over fences. Multiple cheltenham festival winning jockey as well. Lizzie Kelly finally, welcome to the final fall on podcast. Hello, thank you for having me. Let's talk about your favorite, first of all, the flat. That's what 87% of those who voted on Twitter poll that we did wanted us to talk more about jumps racing. But you know what? It's still there, so we kind of have to cover it and it was a good weekend for godolphin native trail winning the dewhurst and Caribbean looking every inch of superstar as well. God, I got that horse badly wrong. Apologies, doctor delargy in the autumn stakes. Of the two who were more impressed with if I could even dare ask that question. And who looks to better long-term prospect to you? I think I was, it is interesting that they've got these obviously these two fantastic horses who are in the same sort of category and for me, I preferred corbus. I thought that the way that he went through the race was just a lot more dominant. I felt like native trail, although he's not aware he's enormous as they've widely discussed. He's really gorgeous, and he's and he is he's got a huge amount of presence. Just felt like he had to work really hard throughout the race. And I don't know whether that was the course, there's quite a lot of him to get going. And half wonder if that was a bit of an issue for him. Actually funny enough for horse that springs to mind that was similar, I thought when he won an epson was a day. I thought that he was a horse who looked like he needed so much holding together. And native trail kind of reminded me of him. No native trails. The way he kind of traveled in the race. It was almost like, you know, his hind end was almost overtaking his front end because he kind of couldn't get himself all organized because he's so big. And he's got a big hind end, almost like a jump, you know, this big, heavy high end. Yeah, I preferred core of us. I thought that I thought that everything about him just looked very polished. And I liked the fact that Buick afterwards. He said that when I pushed the button, it was all over. He was so much in control, even when the race hadn't really started, you know, really developing that he felt that as soon as he made his move, no one would go with him. And I thought that that was really interesting. He is done now for the season, obviously, but he could reappear in the craven next year. Native trail is coming into this in the back of a very similar campaign to pin the tubu who was obviously a brilliant juvenile did win a group one as a three year old, but didn't live up to the heights that he said as a two year old. Do you see similarities there with native trail that perhaps there's a breeze up graduate that he's the full finished product as a two year old, whereas corbus, however it is that we're supposed to pronounce this name. That he's going to be much more of a force. He's already a force now. And he really should have won the royal arch, but he would be much more of a force as a three year old. Yeah, I think I do. And I think one of the one of the things that I worry about with native trail is is he just so much more advanced, physically, that as a two year old, he's beating other two year olds because of the fact that he's so much more physically advanced when those horses catch up with him. Is he going to be as, you know, be able to beat them as well as he has been. It's a bit I'm just not convinced about him. I thought I was all about him. I love watching him go down to the start. He was just honey is absolutely stunning, he's gorgeous and obviously, you know, he's a fantastic horse in his own right. But there was just there was just a small concern that, you know, it just didn't look as easy as I thought it would. And I'd love him to, you know, to continue the way that he has been this season next season. But maybe I'm being too critical, you know, he's still looked and he's still looked great and he's still one. He still won the race. It just wasn't as for me as eye catching this coral bus. Well, the thing is, when you're looking at a horse who's odds on favorite for the race and is now odds on favorite for the 2000 guineas, you have to be critical. There has to be a critical. You can't just go, oh, this was a powerful performance, and he deserves to be the anti post favored blah, blah, blah, that's boring. You can do it. And there's other shows that will happen to do that for you. If you want to listen to it, but I would much prefer your take on it. And I also think it's very interesting that we're in this situation where I don't think the fact that.
