"Thanks for being with us. It's now been about four months since we learned Dan Snyder was exploring selling Washington commanders. At that time, it seemed logical that a buyer would be in place by late March when the NFL owners held their annual meeting. But things now seem to be on much shakier ground. Washington Post sports reporter Liz Clarke joined WTO Sean and discuss potential seller Dan Snyder. Four months in, there's still so many unanswered questions. It's still not super clear that he's selling the team at all. Recent interactions with the league office have angered some fellow owners because of things Snyder would like. If he sells the team, he would like the team to indemnify him against future legal costs. He might incur. He wants them to remake on a promise to release an investigation. The second investigation into him. And in some owner's minds, there are wondering, are we really going to have to take a vote? And get this guy out. And to be clear, no one wants that. It's a process the league is never taken. They've never voted an owner out. They don't want to go through the process because it could just end up in court in a protracted way that certainly nobody in this market would want to wait and see what happens. So it is shrouded with uncertainty, even as this important owners meeting is just a couple of weeks away. So Liz, is it looking like a process that might have taken months could now possibly take years? That is certainly a possibility, but I don't want to be an alarmist. That's just if the resolution can't be negotiated. And that's still what the owners want. There's hope that Jerry Jones, who is probably the best friend that Snyder has in the league. Best position to broker a clean sale in which dance cider walks away with a big number and a new owner arrives. But again, it's not really clear that Snyder is selling. Is he just feeling at the market, seeing what the price might be? Who might come out of the woodwork to buy it? Oh, and by the way, he's rolling out the world's third richest man. That's when he won't sell to. And that's Jeff Bezos for reasons he feels. He doesn't want to sell to the owner of The Washington Post. That could be a negotiating tactic. It could be subject to review. It could be dependent on who else comes forward. But it's not yours close to getting the offer he thinks the team is worth. "Yours close to getting the offer he thinks the team is worth. That's Washington Post sports reporter, Liz Clark. 6, 18. Traffic and weather on the 8s, Dave is in the traffic center. And on the beltway, the Friday traffic congestion remains, a lot of minor crashes obviously given the wet weather. Briefly blocking lanes and then moved to shoulders. A lot of that happened today. Most of the incidents have lasted about 5 or ten minutes in the travel lanes and then relocated quickly to shoulders, two 70, northbound off the spur toward montrose, one of them on the far right side. Shore bound on route 50, eastbound heavy and slow from day to day out of the bay bridge, more range, stronger wind later, only two lanes for eastbound traffic right through tomorrow. At the bay bridge, this evening, in Virginia, one of those crashes on the outer loop past van dorn. It's on the left shoulder, the briefly blocked the left lane. It'll be back on the shoulder before you know it. It's slow beyond that though, through Alexandria to get across the Wilson bridge. 95 southbound slow through woodbridge on Fridays, especially evenings, northbound traffic tends to be much heavier. Right up to woodbridge and through Springfield on to three 95 and then in. On the 14th street bridge, also an Anna Dale cleaning up a crash at backlick road and Braddock road near the Brad lick shopping center. At that time, it seemed logical that a buyer would be in place by late March when the NFL owners hold their annual meeting. But things now seem to be on much shakier ground. Well, joining us live to talk about a Washington Post sports reporter Liz Clark, who has been all over this for years, it seems Liz, thanks for being with us. Thanks so much. Sean and Anne, thank you for having me. I appreciate it. We know several potential buyers are floating around, but there seems to be some serious problems that you're reporting with the potential seller dance Snyder. So give us an update here. What's going on? Yes. I mean, it's kind of mind-blowing, as you say, four months in, there's still so many unanswered questions. It's still not super clear that he's selling the team at all. But recent interactions with the league with the league office have angered some fellow owners because of things Snyder would like. If he sells the team, he would like the team to indemnify him against future legal legal costs. He might incur. He wants them to renege on a promise to release an investigation. The second investigation into him. And in some owner's minds, are we really going to have to take a vote? And get this guy out. And to be clear, no one wants that. It's a process the league is never taken. They've never voted an owner out. That's just if resolution can't be negotiated. And that's still what the owners want. There's hope that Jerry Jones, who is probably the best friend that Snyder has in the league. Best position to broker a piece or a clean sale in which dance sider walks away with a big number and a new owner arrives. But again, it's not really clear that Snyder is selling. Is he just, you know, feeling at the market, seeing what the price might be, who might come out of the woodwork to buy it. Oh, and by the way, he's ruling out the world's third richest man. That's when he won't sell to, and that's Jeff Bezos for, you know, for reasons he feels he doesn't want to sell to the owner of The Washington Post. I guess, given all your reporting here, Liz, I mean, it might be understandable if you want to call it that. Well, I am not sure that it's well. I don't think that's on our channel. And my dealings with billionaires tends to be that they go for the top dollar. So that could be a negotiating tactic, you know, it could be subject to review. It could be, you know, depending on who else comes forward. But I am not sure he's Snyder's close to getting the offer he thinks the team is worth. All right, Liz, we will talk to you again soon. Thank you so much for the update. Thanks for having me. Liz Clark, of The Washington Post. It's four 18. Traffic and weather on the aids Dave dill dines in the traffic center. "It's better than us. Let's clark joins us. Now she is covering the. Us open in flushing metal. I did this. When i was a kid i did it. I covered the us open in forest hills. Which i revered. As the first time. I got to meet billie jean king and jimmy connors and chris evert and illeana dossier and people like that and it was the most favorite thing that i ever did. But when and moved to flushing meadow it took on a night component which is great for people who watch but brutal for people who cover. It's actually do columnist. When i went through the post so i could pick out the match. I wanted and pick out the column i wanted. And if the match turned out bad i could flip and i could switch and it was easy but when you are liz clark and you have to get there by ten in the morning and you're the hotel till two in the morning i mean. It is an eighteen hour day every single day. And that's not counting the travel at some. I mean you volunteer for this. So i'm not i'm not going to let you out easy but this is the hardest longest thing that anybody ever covers it. Not you know. These words mean so much to me. I because they will explain my sleepy voice But but more importantly i think in the. It's an abstraction to people. Oh you cover wimbledon or you cover the. Us open. They picture you like in a lawn chair sipping i see and covering this this like very measured thing that like it's part vacation part work. It is a back breaking grind. You know of fourteen hour days that are you know as you say the hours you sing are accurate. There's a but it's so emotionally charged especially the first week. You don't know where the news is gonna come from. It's not like covering a super bowl. Where is reporter or writer okay. I have a narrative in mind if this team wins and another if this team wins you have to have one hundred twenty eight narratives and when it starts to you know more or less for the men and the women you just don't know where the news is gonna break out. Where the upsets going gonna be. You wanna plan so you can actually report but then you have to throw that out. And then of course all the drama often is purposely loaded for the latest possible night match. You'd be like. Oh my god and this year i came. I haven't covered the us open for a while i. I've done other slams but And of course there were no fans. So i came to this one thinking boy. There really aren't going to be many stories it you know. No federal no doll serena. I'm gonna search for a narrative. It's going to be tough. Nobody's gonna read and can i even sustain two weeks of stories now. I'm not sure anybody's reading. We'll leave that to the side. I'm still doing my very best. But their stories everywhere and there's emotional power coming from places. I didn't expect i just didn't see this coming so i i'm exhausted. And but but very by what. I'm seeing you know it's not like gm gonna complain about my job. I love my job but it's hard. Thank you tony. It is hard it gets. It gets a little better by thursday the second week but the first ten days in this the first days of this are absolutely brutal and i know this because this is one of the things that that i have done. I am not going to talk about jovovich. Because i hate him so much. I just cannot talk rationally about him. I'm going to spare you that whole thing. I'm not gonna deal with it. So but i am going to talk about go ahead. What were you gonna say. No you're gonna say we've cloud that ground so that's good go but i have a new person that i hate and so we're going to talk about him and then but we're going to start. Let's start with naomi osaka because now this this is now a repetitive pattern. This is something that has happened at the french. It's now happened at the us open. It's happened at the olympics. This is a young athlete who it seems to and make makes a tremendous amount of money and who is incredibly talented and does not seem. Happy does not seem happy in her chosen profession. First thing i would ask you is this her or is this her team pushing her. What are you seeing when you see someone who is just not happy. This is the hardest topic. Because i'm not a hundred percent. Sure obviously i mean none of us are. None of us is And each of the episodes you've cited. I think have been kind of different from one another and probably the triggers have been different from one another but the one thing that we know is true because she actually said it and i saw it you know. Most recently was that she has lost the joy in her sport and there aren't many things in athlete. Could say that would bring me to tears. You know more again. It's an individual sport your loan. It's not like you're on the us women's soccer team and you have fierce women lifting you up when you have a bad day. And she's twenty three she is. I very spoken. She's grew up. Fairly insular you know with a a close knit family. You know and And she after this loss. The other night that included completely uncharacteristic meltdown. It and That's such a cliche but he loved banging her racket smashing her throwing her racket blasting a ball. I mean an on-court you know miss behavior that was pretty epic not at all in her persona You know she had lost control of her game and her her very managed on court behavior. Point i'm lumbering toward is said in the interview afterward.

"I don't i don't see he's happens. I texted greedy. Because i get up you know most of our analysts they think that andy dalton should not start their first game they met is wrong and he should start just feels. I'm not with that. I unlike those guys who cover thirty teams thirty two. I follow one coakley like that now and act team. The chicago bears has been what could be the worst offensive line. I have seen from the behaviors. I dunno since the aid give blonde days. Where walter one of the reasons you could make the argument walter. Payton is a grace football player of all time is because he he is still the second best back. Statistically in history had they drafted linemen and they got linemen and those were great but when he got there i they didn't have got bigger line. Now it stinks it stinks. They went and got a guy off the scrap philadelphia. Who's forty years old and he your best and they've got peter's so for all of the analysts who know a hell of a lot more about this than i do. No no i a to to tom watson who who you know now i wanted to tell me why who played for the chicago bears and tommy waddles watching these games through spread fingers to i. I just sit tummy. They're gonna get killed. And tommy doesn't want to subscribe to that. He's professional football player. But tommy while knows what he sees. Eight played on the offensive side of the ball. Bears offensive line. I don't. I don't know how you can put this out there. The first couple of people just say oh. He gives them the best chance to win. They don't have any chance to win against the los angeles rams if if he's running for your life every snap and that's who they play so you're gonna send him out the first game against aaron really and so i would agree. Don't don't fall for the okeydoke. What are you talking about to remind these guys. I i watch just the bears now closely like this. It's a dreadful offense of line and we drafted this kid. We moved up. People are more excited about him that we've been about any player that uniform maybe in my life because people did not know walter payton coming of jackson state even though he was the fourth player chosen in the draft in nineteen sixty. Five people didn't know about dick is because he's chicago so okay maybe since butkus but considers with chosen in the same job that how about you get pretty good luck is in jail sayers three and four respectively so okay so let's just go sit them. That's michael terry. Okay maybe which are dictate. What tennessee state. People didn't know how great richard debt was in nineteen eighty three. They didn't know yes. These guys became hall of famers. But they're the town's more excited over justin field. And i know because i lived here then and i'm back here a lot now back there now so i'm gonna watch this game. I'm excited. I love this kid. I want this kid to turn the team around. I want to. I want the kid. Even say matt nagy's jobs which is what is going to be necessary like matinee. Still gonna get fired. They if they if they're losing team. Tony so we go into the season with like i said on. Espn radio in chicago. I'm terrified of this line and what's going to happen to this kid. We'll see he'll probably pretty early. 'cause i'm not that well andy dalton will get has legs broken and the kid will have to go in. I will see you tomorrow. what mark. let's see okay. Yeah we'll see tomorrow. At lewis is the first big week i can't. I don't love the tennis. Even though you know how much. I love tennis. Tony kornheiser position all the stars. They are We'll talk about this some other time. This'll be a nice t's all of the black people. America who follow tennis hate tennis right now they hate the us open and they want an invest we even though i can come as rational point on this. We want the. Us open investigated for pitting every single black player. A renown against another black player in the first two rounds of tournament. Oh is that what happened is as i. I'm unaware of single. Where have liz clark on. Next we can ask about it. I don't know that. Liz is going to have kept up with that. Black live in all the exchange. I'm on with people who followed tennyson. Arthur ash. I tried to spend that in my house in that direction. I said wait a minute. This stuff is done by a computer. That's what i would have thought i was going. I had one black person who for i didn't have rounds of black people men and women playing against each other like like like t t off. Oh last night playing against his kid from canada who is apparently going to be a beast. I am just dealing with chains techs chain since say. I'm sorry how does it the. Us open has picked every single. Black player. I guess another black player before we get to the second week the. Us open is just black folks grit near not really you know if this was ten years they would just had. They would just try to venus three out i. 'You had one job': tearful Simone Biles attacks USAG over Nassar scandal

"U. S. Olympic champion Simone Biles has harsh words for USA gymnastics you had one job you literally have one job and protect this is really sad miles so she still cannot trust the organization in the wake of the Larry Nasser sex abuse scandal Washington post sports reporter Liz Clark spoke with come most Tom Hudler about this so you're right about a very emotional Simone Biles it spoke to you and other reporters in Kansas city which is the site of the U. S. gymnastics championships she's clearly still very upset with that organization yes and I think it's understandable why I mean Simone is four feet eight and but she is you know one of the most powerful and strong willed and it just stands head and shoulders above all the competition in her field and she is gymnastics most important most decorated star and she has taken USA gymnastics to task for its handling of the Larry Nasser case before but none of us had seen her truly moved to tears and and it was understandable why in her point is that you know not only is she still scarred and suffering from the abuse it self but the knowledge that the former head of USA gymnastics the former head of the US Olympic committee had information about Larry naturism views and sat on it and didn't do anything about it didn't involve the law enforcement for a period of time because they were too worried about the image issues too worried about metal that is if she cannot process to deal with and understandably find it difficult to try if you know the priorities and good faith of USA gymnastics going forward and sadly for her to compete at the the Tokyo Olympics to achieve the success you want to achieve in our sport she must compete under the umbrella of USA gymnastics and help USA gymnastics sell the ticket win back the corporate sponsors a lot so he's having to sort of service master that really to see that the cause of her abuse and he wrote that does she still has to go through some situations where you can't make it through training because of the emotional issues she still dealing with she had stepped away from the sports or not a biography she was on dancing with the stars and then of course at the age of twenty two she comes back to the sport and is trying to get back to the Olympics was I'm sure she will have no problem achieving but still that emotional I guess a burden that she's carrying everyday she goes out to train and I'm sure when she's in competing as well absolutely I mean she was careful to point out that her personal coaches with a husband and wife team they're based in Texas where she lived where she trained they have been wonderful to her and understanding her emotions giving her space to deal with that and still pushing her to succeed but you know each time she have to interact with USA gymnastics which again she is sort of their meal pick in the in their view it's incredibly difficult to read the entire article washingtonpost dot com Olympics Simone Biles lashes out at USA gymnastics in tearful statement that's Liz
