Who Is the Front Runner in the PA Senate Primary?

"Is Dave McCormick going to be able to win with a closing kick tomorrow in the Pennsylvania GOP Senate primary as I have judged him the only Republican capable of beating John fetterman in the fall. Well, you're right. He is the only candidate to beat fetterman in the poll. I don't know, did you see yesterday to John fetterman have stroke? I did. I saw this morning his comments that he's fully recovered and no mental damage. And that is good news. Yeah, I chatted with, yeah, he's fine. But anyways, so I had thought all along that McCormick would pull it out, even when Trump endorsed Oz, even when Trump came in and held his rally, which had less than a thousand people at it. And but then he went scorched earth on McCormick. And when he went scorched earth on the cormick, Oz rally was used that as an ad in the net drove up McCormick's negatives, which he had barely any that made Barnett run and she rose up last week, like an insurgent candidate tends to do, but I think she peaked Wednesday and started to fall under the scrutiny.

The Rise of Leon Trotsky & Communism

"Trotsky was perhaps the most intellectual of the bunch Of the communist revolutionaries that overthrew and took over Russia The truth is they never had even close to majority of the population behind them About 20% They didn't even have a majority of the quote unquote workers behind them And even though a number of them would serve time in Siberia the fact is that their efforts were not taken seriously enough until it was too late Trotsky was among the most vicious of them but they were all quite vicious When Lennon took over as I said he would soon get 6 relatively shortly thereafter Stalin would eventually replace Lenin through a number of connivance and assassinations and Trotsky would originally become the head of the military The Red Army but he fell out of favor Because he had a different ideological view of Marxism than did Stalin Stalin's view was more akin to a strong man and a single political party the Communist Party which would be the state the party is the state And that party would be a permanent fixture That would in essence ensure that the Marxist economic system and all the rest of it would be enshrined and be complied with

Did FBI Target Parents Despite Garland's Sworn Testimony?

"Breaking last night from congressman Jim Jordan, who's going to be joining the show next week when Charlie is back. From his much needed vacation, he's going to be detailing what he's uncovered. There is a whistleblower, a smoking gun with new information that shows the FBI used terrorism tools to target concerned parents. This is despite attorney general Merrick Garland's assurances to Congress, under sworn testimony, mind you that the Department of Justice was not using its resources to target concerned parents. And now a whistleblower is confirming that the FBI has labeled dozens of you as with a special counter terrorism label in its investigation. Now, I want to play some sound here to build this out. Now, how did we get here? Let's play cut one 12. This is Jim Jordan on Jesse watters prime time last night, play cut one 12. And again, if you're a mom, you're a dad, you're a gun owner, you're a Republican, and you're standing up for your kids. Oh my goodness, look out because here comes the FBI. And again, in a direct contradiction to what he told us under oath in the committee. And never forget that this Jesse, look, remember how quickly this happened. September 29th, the school board association sends a letter to the Biden White House. 5 days later, October 4th, Merrick Garland issues this memorandum that lays out this snitch line together, go after parents, and then 16 days later, the FBI sends out the email that's establishes this threat tag designation that was put on these parents. All that happened last fall in 22 days. When have you ever seen the federal government move that fast? So they moved that fast because they were going after people. As you just pointed out, just like the Obama White House went after a new Obama IRS went after conservative same dynamic here,

Michael Knowles: Why Catholic Support for the Right to Life Is Lagging

"Michael Knowles, host of the daily wires, the Michael Knowles show, everybody check that out. Michael, welcome back to the Charlie Kirk show. It is great to be with you, man. Thanks for having me. Well, it's great to have you on the show all the time. I mean, it's great to have an apostate Catholic, be able to explain these horrendous poll numbers. I was like, Michael, you got some splaining to do my friend. Got this plane. Catholics, according to pew, you got 48% of Catholics that believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases. So that's 48 to 47%. What the heck is going on right now? Well, it's very sad, but the reason that you see that is because Joe Biden calls himself a Catholic. Nancy Pelosi calls herself a Catholic. The Cuomo family has called themselves Catholics. They don't ascend to the teachings of the Catholic Church, but they were raised Catholic. Maybe they went to church on Sunday sometimes. And so they take it on as a kind of cultural identity. In a similar way that Jews will do this. Jews being an ethnicity and a religion will say I'm Jewish, even if they don't believe anything about the Jewish religion and they don't follow any of the practices. I have a sort of personal connection to this in that I was raised a cradle Catholic. I was, we have infant baptism, that's one of the reasons that people will keep this identity even if they don't actually practice the religion. And I went away. I fell away from the faith for about ten years. And I came back to it, and I came back to it in a very gradual way. And I came back to it through certain Protestant thinkers and through certain actually not even not Christian thinkers, and then I was convinced God exists. And then I was convinced Jesus is who he says he is, and that I was convinced that the Catholic Church really is the Catholic Church. And so I came back to it with all the zeal of a revert. All the zeal of a convert. And it drives me crazy because it take, for example, Joe Biden, who says he's Catholic, he goes, I believe he receives communion at mass, he is in a state of grave and unrepentant sin. He is supporting abortion in a very public way. He is committing the sin of scandal. He is committing all sorts of skins. And the scandal here is that he's leading the flock astray and it's a real risk. When Christ says, it's not going to go very well for those of you who lead the little ones astray. It's just thinking about that verse. Millstones and all of that. That's what we're talking about here. We're actually not even really talking about

Ensuring Good Education in a Post-CRT World

"Point chapter at your Belinda high school. Awesome. So last week on April 5th in a three two vote, my school board passed a resolution to ban critical race theory in my district. So my question is, what's the next steps to ensuring that we have a good education, even after that ban? That's great. So it's a two part dance. So that's great. Now you need to say, okay, let's get pro American curriculum in our schools. So what does that look like? Hillsdale college has done a lot of work in this. We're starting to do a lot at turning point USA. But we have to teach people, what is the American story? What is the problem? What is the proper way to view American history? What is America? Was it a mistake? Was it something that has kind of fell out of the sky? There's just a couple of things I'll share here that I think could really excite high school students that they're definitely not taught in school. America was summoned into existence at a time and a place that is very unusual. In fact, it's almost never happened before in human history. Most civilizations are countries stumble into existence. They're not summoned into existence. I want you to think about that. There was a decision to create America. China just kind of existed and it was kind of the Yangtze River valley civilization is kind of built into itself. In this river valley in India and so on and so forth. But America was a group of people that made a decision founding fathers. We have a set of principles. We don't like what's happening. We're going to declare independence of things that are always true. And I'm afraid that most young people are not just being taught that even we're serving taught the opposite. They're being taught to the founding fathers were racist bigoted slave owners. And they don't know their history. They don't know that the first antislavery convention in America was hosted in Philadelphia by Benjamin Franklin in 1775. They don't know that 9 out of 13 states before the constitution was ratified in 1787 had already independently abolished slavery. They didn't a lot of young people never top that Vermont was the first state to abolish slavery in 1777, inspired by the Declaration of Independence. So the next step is get your local school districts and not just teach this, but inspire young people to be excited about the country they live in. A lot of young people, I think, are

Dinesh Reflects on Justinian the Great

"I'm picking up today on Dante and I haven't done Dante in a few days. Mainly because of the focus on the release of the movie and so I'll spend a little time reorienting us as to where we left off. I was talking about the emperor Justinian and I was talking about how Justinian was the author of the just of the code of Justinian, essentially a for a formulation of Justinian of Roman law. That was used, not just in early medieval times, but also in Dante's own day. People rediscovered the Justinian code and they're like, wow, this is actually fantastic. And I want to say a couple of things about Justinian before moving on. Justinian talks about Brutus and cassius both being in hell. And this, of course, flashes our mind back to the very end of the inferno where we find right next to Satan, Brutus and cassius. It's a little bit of a surprise. Wow, are those the guys the worst sinners? And the question is Dante has to kind of give us the reason why, and he doesn't do it there. But he does a little bit here where he says Brutus and cassius flail about in hell, it made modena and perugia grieve. Very Dante esque statement. So here you have modena and perugia two Italian towns that are kind of side by side. And wa Dante is saying is in the aftermath of the betrayal of Brutus and cassius and their murder of Caesar. What happened is there was a round of civil wars. So the fourth Civil War was a Civil War between Brutus and cassius on the one side and octavius and Mark Antony on the other side and that was a bloody and brutal war, which resulted in the victory of Mark Antony and octavius, but then there was a second Civil War in which Anthony and octavius were arrayed against each other, and that was no less bloody and no less brutal, and of course that then established the augustinian. Sorry, the augustan Succession. Augustus became the emperor, but in the meantime, Dante's point is lots of people got hurt. Lots of people got killed. And Dante's way of saying that is not some philosophical formulation there were innumerable duds to fall. No, it made modena and perugia

"NPR news I'm Little Falls and Michelle Martin is away the house of representatives voted this week to set the rules for the ongoing impeachment inquiry against president trump the vote shifts the process into a new more public face but according to the president the inquiry remains nothing more than an attack by what he calls a radical Democrats against him and his supporters the radical left is determined to transform America into a country you would not recognize we are the ones standing in their way and we will never get out of their way it will be easy that was president trump speaking to supporters last night at a rally in tupelo Mississippi his words underscore how divisive and political the impeachment process is likely to remain as it goes forward we're going to begin this hour by taking a close look at where the increase stands right now and what we know about where it's headed next joining me for that is NPR's congressional correspondent Susan Davis hi sue hi there so first I feel like a lot of our listeners probably think this is all a blur now what exactly did the house vote on this week it does three simple things the first thing it does is it calls for the house to have public hearings it also directs the house intelligence committee to release publicly all of those private depositions of interviews they've been taking and it directs the Judiciary Committee to essentially begin and prepare for possible impeachment proceedings so the vote was split street down party lines all but two house Democrats voting in favor all the Republicans voting against what was their argument it's a good lesson that going forward this is probably going to be a strict party line fight in the house you have Democrats you lost just two of them I should note though that twenty nine of the thirty one Democrats who represent districts that Donald Trump one voted for this resolution which I think tells you that Democrats in the most competitive districts think the politics are on their side an impeachment but then you have Republicans who have also stood directly behind the president on this question no defections and the sources that I talk to say there's just a simple calculation here for a lot of Republicans all of which in the house that are running for reelection are also on the ballot in twenty twenty and there's just no political oxygen right now to be a Republican who could take a vote as seen as against this president and hope to run and win in a competitive Republican primary so do the president and his lawyers gonna say in the process now they will get a say in the process live indicated they're not going to participate in a acesse even prior to this resolution both the white house's lawyers had sent a letter to Congress saying we see this process is a legitimate and we won't participate and in fact they've stone wall the investigation happening behind closed doors with the house intelligence committee if and when it goes to the Judiciary Committee the president and his counsel will be given rights will be able to question witnesses will be able to offer up evidence of their own whether or not they will participate is a question that remains open but the White House has indicated that their strategy here is just been a blockade to not participate and argue against the process to the public and make it look like it's an illegitimate investigation of the president but wasn't the argument that this was all being done in a closed hearing so if it's opening up now what's the argument now well that's the key question right I mean we look at the country right now and it's incredibly divided on the question of impeachment and I think that the White House thinks of those numbers hold if the country remains divided Democrats are the one taking the rest well we don't know is how public hearings might shift that sentiment the country has absorbed this largely through secondhand information through news reports it's different if you see and hear people testifying in public under oath about what they saw and heard we don't know it will move the needle but if it does that might again shift the calculus of the White House that maybe they might need to step up and engage in a more active defense on the substance of these allegations doesn't move from closed hearings to open hearings advance the increase in a really significant way are we going to see public testimony like you talked about from these major players well speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Friday that she expected those public hearings would begin this month the house is in recess next week so that's over a two week period we should start to see these public hearings Democrats still say they'd like to wrap this impeachment investigation on the house side by the end of the year they're only scheduled to be in session something like sixteen more days so they really are facing a time crunch to sort of make up their mind here they still have to consider public hearings impeachment proceedings in the house Judiciary Committee and still a vote in the full house so it'll be a little while before house votes again but if it does reach that point it would actually be a vote on whether to impeach the president is that correct the next reasonable assumption is if they are moving forward down this path the next bill will be in the house Judiciary Committee the committees are directed to transfer all of their evidence to judiciary and judiciary will ultimately make the decision on whether their articles of impeachment and what they should be so first you would have to come out of the Judiciary Committee in assuming articles of impeachment are approved they would then go to the house floor it's a privilege matter there's not that much debate on it and if any article of impeachment is approved anyone there can be more than one the president is considered impeached and a trial begins in the Senate almost immediately and have Senate leader said anything about their plans in response to the house vote this week well they don't have a choice the constitution requires that they have a trial though it does give some flexibility to hell that will go senators on both sides a said they do anticipate a trial similar to how the Clinton impeachment when in nineteen ninety eight nineteen ninety nine that one lasted about five weeks that's and peers congressional correspondence to Davis thank you you're welcome impeachment aside healthcare has emerged as a dominant campaign issue for Democrats this presidential election season the idea of better cheaper healthcare is popular with primary voters but the idea of eliminating private insurance and replacing it with a government run system is less popular still that's what Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren is endorsing and yesterday she released her plan explaining how she intends to pay for it and he has asthma how it is with Warren on the campaign trail in Iowa the first stop of the day for Elizabeth ward was a rally at a high school in Britain a small town with a population around five thousand Warren did not mention her Medicare for all plan in her speech but the first question she got from the crowd from deep patters was about healthcare and specifically what would happen to people like her who depend on an usual life saving drugs I wholeheartedly support universal health care but I also worry about the transition and whether or not they continue the of care will be able to be there as we transition to Medicare for all Warren told the crowd that her goal is to improve health care no insurance company in the middle to say sorry that doctor is out of network no insurance company in the middle to say I'm sorry we don't authorize that treatment and her plan she says would save middle class families money we should be an American where you get the health care that you need and that no one goes broke over it I could have been patterned after the rally she told me she's not sure who she's gonna caucus for either Warren or California senator Kamel here she gestured to her partner and explained that they don't think a public option being offered by some other candidates is enough but she wants to hear more from warning about how the country with transition to Medicare.

"This morning president trump also announced that US authorities will start arresting immigrants in several cities people who are already slated for deportation they have deportation orders immigration authorities have already been active and in Little Falls Minnesota the enforcement actions in recent months and years of us some dairy farmers short of labor re harm for sheer of Minnesota public radio reports on farmers who support the president but feel the sting of his policies Little Falls is a real central Minnesota town of about eight thousand people the population here is mostly white though dozens of local dairy farms have for years employed lots of Hispanic workers they often do the grueling farm labor that dairy farms requires seven days a week last fall a group of those workers was chopping silage on one of the farms when they noticed immigration officers nearby some of the workers were immigrants living in the U. S. illegally and we're free to leave the property thinking that the minute they did they could be arrested and possibly deported others here share similar accounts about border patrol agents carrying out arrests throughout the county even though it's well beyond the patrols traditional jurisdiction a full two hundred miles south of the Canadian border still the presence of white border patrol trucks has become a familiar sight in and around Little Falls one local Hispanic resident who moved here from Mexico ten years ago was stopped by a border patrol agent in late spring fear of harassment he requested we not use his name and disguise his voice role was just all lost one of the he was thinking of the garbage when the agent came up to him and ask for papers the man handed the agent his green card and said he was in the process of applying for citizenship he wasn't arrested but he says one of his coworkers was just outside the town's grocery store when he went there to buy chicken and bread for his family according to local dairy farmers at least seven undocumented immigrants have been arrested here in recent months they say they've never before seen this level of enforcement and as the threat of a more coordinated immigration read looms this part of farm country remains anxious well one of the border patrol officers involved in the arrest is stationed in international falls near the border he grew up around here and is familiar with the daily operations local police have called this officer to translate and help facilitate apprehensions the officer refused to be interviewed for this story he knows where the farms are he knows.
