"Because of all of these different because TNA was coming in because the injuries because we had to Atlanta because my issues come in like, so I was like, everyone's like, it just feels so much different than last year. And there was some comments about what this team has accomplished relative to them. And I don't think there's any bad blood. I thought it was a little interesting. Yeah. I think, you know, it was the reality of the situation. And I don't think it was necessarily shady because it wasn't like something. It was honest. It was honest. There wasn't something that was made up. To be mean or anything like that, I think it was just the way it is. And I think when Tina signed with Washington, she was signing on to play with Emma mesa men, Elena delle donne, cloud, all those guys, and Alicia Clark, you know. And well, the next year after whatever, the bubble. But I think with that, it was just, it was just not an ordinary situation for her to walk into last year and be really dependent upon to, you know, do everything offensively for Washington and the court court at night. I don't think that she signed on to do that. Right? So in that regard, like you said, it's not her fault. I mean, that's just how the bread was sliced, you know? It looks this year, and we just have to make do and do the best we can for the team. And I think that's what her sacrifice was last year. I mean, 30 points a game for that long story. It was four or 5 games where she had 30. It was like insane. That she was able to do that, number one, but the fact that she had to do that. And to maintain leading the league for most season and as tough. And, you know, they want a championship without Tina, and that's documented, but that's not, it's not a main statement. I think it was just, like you said, it was honest. And I don't think it was meant to be mean. It's just the circumstances and the timing of her coming to D.C. and just didn't work out. And, you know, we wish her the best in Phoenix for sure. But why would it be fun to have her here this year? Yeah, sure. But, I mean, it's a different team this season as well. So I think you gotta go with it. Yeah, I think they just want to move on from us. And I think last season was super tough. And I think since we were around the team, we saw a little bit more. I think last year was just super tough on everyone involved. And they want to move on from it. So it did sound like it sounded like you know Charles Shane but I really think it was just like we got to move on from last year and we're going to be honest. We can do what we've done in the past. As much as much as we would like as much as Tina was a part of what we did last year, we can we've had success before. But I think that kind of all goes into the feeling that I had, which was my big takeaway is like, this kind of feels like a new team. Even though as you mentioned, Tiana is back, satori is back. So it kind of has a 2019 feel. So we're connected to the past, but it definitely feels different and new and there's new rules and the people who are in the building who have been in the building, their roles have changed so much and hopefully if Elena is healthy, that's going to be a challenge. It's going to be a challenge to fit in everyone to a new role. And to keep what they've done with Alina. But it's also going to be an opportunity to see how it all works together because the team makes so much more sense when you look at the fits on paper. No doubt. And Lisa Clark, she said at media day, she said, I'm the oldest player on the team. And for me, what stood out the most and even with what you were saying about the returning players coming back to that championship squad and then these incoming draftees and invites and all of that. The energy is so fantastic. But what I was most impressed by during the practice, like their first practice, she had this voice, Alicia clarkton. Where she was very instructive, but at first I didn't see where it was coming from. Because they're all in a mosh. You know, they're on the court and they're working through some things and all that. And I heard this powerful voice, like this commanding leader. And I said, wow, who is that? Because usually Natasha clap. Yes. And it was a couple of times, but there was this voice from Clark that I was just like, I had to lean back and touch the common bond a little bit, because I'm like, listen to her. I mean, she sounds like a coach. Like, she sounded like a coach. And it was very tactical. It was very cut and dry and clear and concise. With what she was saying to the team. And you could see players like Kristin Williams, The Rookie. Like, body, you know, her body was like leaning forward. Her whole countenance was like, she's all ears, man. And she was taking in all of that great information. So when you have that kind of leadership on the court, I mean, it really pays dividends as the season unfolds. And I know that, you know, Elena delle donne. She said, you know, right now I'm just working through things. I feel great today. And this physically, you know, getting back into things, you said, but who knows? If there's a stretch of games where the travel wouldn't be conducive for me, I have to really think about that. So we have to be mindful of that too. And what's best for her and her body and Clark, she said she's not a 100% yet, but she's really close. And as of day one, she said it was like 404 days. Of rehab. So these players have put in a time and, you know, and the grind to get back out here. So it's not like, you know, one, two, three, cancun, and then they come back into camp, like, whatever. No, they are like, getting the ground every day, working with the best medical staff, you know, they share with the Washington Wizards here. And I just think that, you know, you have to give credit where credit is due in that regard. And what they are doing every day to play the game they love. And really respect that. Well, I think that was one of the reasons why I was so important to have both Lana del Don and Alicia Clark stick around the team last year. You know, obviously I think ETD would have been around because she's just been a part of this franchise so long. But at least she came in, signed a contract, got hurt, got suspended because of my mistakes near the cap space and stuck around because the Oregon, I don't know what happened necessarily what like how they got her to stick around, but she wanted to be around the team. And she was on the bench communicating with people during the game. Hauling out plays from the sidelines. Yeah. And that sort of communication is going to carry over when like I said before, like, when you have people who have been around you, it is easier to communicate and communicate. The key, especially in defense of basketball, so now she knows what everyone is doing. She knows what's happening. She knows their strengths and weaknesses from seeing it on the sidelines last year..

"We shouted out each individually. But you and sean appears a close friend of mine fellow podcast or he does. The latter day lives podcast but he also has a great podcast called sharing time and they are often his co host on that. Maybe tells what that podcasts about so sharing time as a it's a really just kind of off the cuff conversation Shannon trump will call me up and say hey. Can you come over next week. That's it's about that you know that kind of impromptu and then we just get together and we'll have a couple of themes in mind you know and it always has kind of a flavor of being members of the church. I mean we might talk about family vacations. We also might talk about Callings or youth camps or things like that but always with the always with that theme of a kind of looking through the lens of being numbers of the church. And so it's and we'll do it. Facebook lives we can interact with our audience. They can throw questions or comments. There own experiences A lot of fun Yeah sean i've known for years it's very easy to sit and get lost in conversation with sean. Yeah and see i. It's sort of just an impromptu very casual informal conversations about that kind of revolve around church culture more than doctrine or or principles. Kinda just around the fun church culture and then you've also did some Some some writing and you've written a self published a book that. Where did the did that start. Word that come from so bad That's a great question At actually started over a decade ago when blogs started to become a thing A good friend of mine fact. "Being an rachel retrograde point but you know not just losing a natasha howard but losing lisa clark as well Who is arguably a top five player in the league last year but to me it does go back to if you have brand steward especially and sue bird. Obviously as well and jewell loyd. It's very hard for me. Not to think of. That team is a title contender. I did have questions. About how asia. Wilson enlist him. Bauge would operate together. there was a little bit of a bumpy ri- mowing toback in twenty nineteen. They have dramatically improved. What they've been able to do together so those to connecticut with chocolate jones by at an mvp level those look like contenders to me to me. That was the top tier. So i can't say i was surprised about that recently. For me with seattle. It was a question mark. I wasn't sure to lose them. Any key. pieces from a defensive standpoint. What clark brought to the teams even sammy. What come in which the energy she would ring to seattle. I mean then you lose. Natasha howard is someone to such a dominant force as a rim-protector wasn't sure. So that was kind of just a question. Martine obviously i knew they'd be being the top three. I'm not surprised that i am. And i i am and i'm not i think for me. I really saw the acis being at the top. Which obviously i mean right now. Flip a coin between those two as to. Who's the best team in the league at this point I saw chicago being a little bit better than what there where they stand right now at ten nine. I think we have to attribute that to the seven game losing streak. I'm not concerned. I think that could be right there. In the end of the order injured as a part of that seven game. Losing allie quigley. So so i. I saw chicago las vegas connecticut all right there at the top. Seattle obviously is in there as well but it was still. I wasn't sure how this team would respond with the losses and to howard's point. Obviously a team with with jewell loyd greta stewart super crazy. We don't have them in the top three so to answer your question. I i definitely felt like chicago would be a little bit higher at this point where they are. That doesn't mean i'm worried though. All right about rachel's latest article. Because i was in lockstep with it. Check it out when you get an opportunity. Rachel who it's out there that when we get to the all star break that the wnba all stars have more than a fighting chance against team usa. Rachel make your case. Just think i think this is a year that that is unprecedented in what this game means. We've seen this match. Before they were considered exhibitions. Which is which is really interesting to me. This year. it's new. The stakes are a little bit different right him. Usa has to truly be tested and prepared to win a gold medal in before we see all star games. It's time time right. People are kind of having fun. We're not really playing defense. Got flightless cam bayrak the run the point. It's it's a fun experience that's lighthearted here. We have a situation where you've got some players on all star team the the wbz all star team. You have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder. And i think that the most unique part about the all star team is the first timers right there. Seven first timers on the offensive firepower alone with the rega- i mean honestly you could go down the entire line williams. This is going to be such a high scoring game on both fronts. And you've got to wonder like which team whatever team decides to actually play defense and compete. And i think they will because there are actually steaks on this game. There's responsibility to compete. I really think if there was a year where we see team. Usa kinda get knocked off in this all star situation because in the past and the exhibitions. That didn't count cumulus. I won pretty convincingly. I think this could be the year i. I really think that you've got with chip on their shoulder. And you have the offensive firepower. Do it about our what are you. I agree with rachel and to me. There's another element to play here. And you just have a talent pool. And i think this is responsible for why there were so many hard feelings around the selection for usa basketball was we have in this country many more than twelve players who have built olympic resumes. And who are capable and should be chosen to be on an olympic team so the net result is that. If you're building a team that goes beyond those twelve. You're going to build a team that absolutely can compete with the very best and so to see that opportunity before you even get into the fact that there can be players on the wnba ulster team in our who aren't.

"Podcast. So without further ado. Let's get into the show right around the rim fan so as mentioned we have a guest driver of our show today and i'm super excited. I'm always happy every time we have her on the show but even more so when she is active as our fearless leader. So please show some love for play by play in women's basketball analysts cindy brunson. Hey cindy thanks so much for having me t i really appreciate it and thank you china for being so freaking busy that i get to run the on. This wonderful podcast. We'd like to welcome in rachel galligan and howard medical. You guys know these people really well. Rachel of women's basketball analyst with winds cider and just of these sports and of course howard founder and editor of the nine newsletter. And the next tube. So let's get to a guys as we approach the midway point in the olympic. Rake in the w nba. Which team has impressed you. The most to this point howard. I'll start with you to me. I do think it's the new york liberty and a team that was to in twenty last year. Historically bad offense. They obviously made a lot of changes so far over the off season. We haven't seen those business changes manifest themselves and tasha allergies and played. Much and sabrina national has been at less than one hundred percent. But it's those secondary change that node into into some of those players as well that maybe people weren't talking about as much You know whether it's lane you whether it's semi whitcomb and you see those players making a difference in this team is absolutely making a playoff push And expect natasha howard back pretty soon of course rookie of the year teenage mccain way helping drag us as well. How about for you rachel. No i don't wanna be. Maybe this'll be controversial. But i feel like it's just expected the seattle is going to be at the top of the standings but for me it's seattle. This is a team that lost key players or what they've been able to do. Yeah you could argue that. We still have a stories still have a lawyer. You still have super but make really key pieces last year and it's like the haven't even missed a beat. I think what what they're doing on the court from offensive and honestly defensive standpoint continued to get better throughout the season For me it's seattle. And if i had to say a second one just to kind of throw it in there i think the wreck the record should be better than what it is. It's analysis. ooh i love that. You said the dallas wings. I am really on that team and as pacific northwest native. I have no problem with you going with at all if they were to win back to back. Titles that's eight okay with me. Even though i live in the desert and i am of edicts mercury season ticket holder. I really love what the sar have done. I thought when they lost howard that that was it that the run would be done and like you said they have just been absolutely phenomenal. Okay so those are teams that have really jumped out with us Are these the teams that you both predicted with. Perhaps the in the wnba finals are your predictions at the start of the season. Where you thought they'd be right now. I see seattle being an rachel retrograde point but you know not just losing a natasha howard but losing lisa clark as well Who is arguably a top five player in the league last year but to me it does go back to if you have brand steward especially and sue bird. Obviously as well.

"On april twelfth twenty thirteen nigerian author and activist chima monda in gauzy at each give a tax talk in england she defined varying loaded. Word a person who believes in the social political and economic equality of the sexes. She also went on to say. We teach girls to shrink themselves to make themselves smaller. We say two girls. You've been have ambition but not too much. You should aim to be successful but not too successful otherwise you will threaten the man. We raise girls to see each other as competitors not for jobs or for accomplishments for attention of men. You may have heard these words associated with beyond saying her incredible coachella homecoming performance back in two thousand eighteen. So what's that loaded word that some today loath to us well. It's feminism twenty twenty however feminism still get the bat rep tons of people. There's the crowd that says women should be absolutely equal to men or those who say female should just stay in their plates. Happy wife happy life. There's the women comfortable with being bare-chested and marching for justice. The women who wear massive costumes to picking their private parts and the women who made dump acid on you for man's reading on the metro but what makes feminist a feminist. Because there's me. I grew up on kim possible and carmen sandiego and looked up to a single mother who easily took on a fatherly role. I had a grandmother who already had her doctorate degree before. I was thirteen the only member of the family with one. So is it good enough. That i'm more comfortable with women than men nor did i enjoy when they lead. My feminist in every sense of the word are you. Are you not today. we're gonna find out. Lisa clark diller and the history professor center and i wanted to talk to one of my favorite professors from undergrad about her experience. Let's take a trip down to tennessee. When i see a read. The word feminists when most people who i know right using that word or speak using that word what we're talking about. Our people usually feminist or entities organizations that are advocating for full women's equality. So this is more than just believing women are equal usually usually goes the second or third step in saying If there are situations that women are be disenfranchised or mistreated and We're going to advocate for them. We're going to try to change up some of the system so that they have more places to flourish. dr diller. what do you think are some of the largest challenges to the feminist movement. Well there's two different kinds of challenges and based on some of our conversation earlier one has to do with the fact that it were still definitely meeting to fight for women's right so there's challenges that come with fact and We have humans have berry long standing thousands of years.

"If you have money, sitting idle, and one of the four giant, monster megabanks, which are chase Bank of America CitiBank, or the criminal enterprise. Is impersonating a Bank Wells Fargo you on your money and savings ordering a tiny fraction of one percent. You can't even see the interest on the money. It's so wool. That's why I like the online banks and the online banks right now have been paying generally two point three five two point four two point four or five two point five. Right. And they're depending on which online Bank, you go to all FDIC insured protected to a quarter million. Well. There are a number of reasons to expect it, maybe what you can earn on savings may go down. Looking forward, and this is a maybe. And there are some factors showing the economy. Is showing signs of slowing? Not a recession, but signs of slowing and the trade things really uncertain right now but trade wars always lead to economic decline. Always no exception. There are no painless trade wars. We're still not in a trade war where trade skirmishes is the word that I've been comfortable using, but if it amps up from here, and we go into a trade war, then we're talking about. Much greater likelihood, potentially not a certainty, but overwhelming possibility of a recession and interest rates will be a leading indicator. They will decline. So I'm changing my recommendation of the last three years, and that is right now, if there's money that you don't expect to need in the next year that you have in online savings. Account put it in an online Bank CD the rates on those cap out it just a hair under three percent or right around three percent with the online banks, and so it would be potentially a strategy to move money, even within the online Bank where you have a savings account if they're offering one year CD rates approaching three percent. Just move the money into that, and have it there for the next year. Well, we see what's going to happen with the general direction of the economy and with interest rates. And again, I could be wrong interest rates may continue their slow climb upward. But it just seems right now. Like that's not gonna happen. And the direction likely is going to be down from here. Not up. The oddest thing in this. Is that what credit card companies are charging for interest rates has continued to rise, even as other rates have not is the banks are not meeting any marketplace resistance as it would be referred to raising their credit card interest rates that people don't seem to be reacting to that. And so those rates are going to continue to go up till people, do react, and do something like transfer a balance to another card pay card off whatever otherwise you're sitting duck for higher rates. John joins us on the car coward show. Hi, john. Klerk today. Great. Thank you, John. You have a question that I'm very interested in hit me with it. Yeah. L back on your show. It's probably been almost a year ago. You had mentioned an app, you can download on your phone, and then you can link your credit cards to it. And as you shop at certain stores or franchises, you can get a certain percentage one or two percent back in the company's stock. I guess just gonna kick in. Check in with you and see Fiemme beats on on where the that all that app was in the in the beta stages when, when you first had mentioned it, and I actually signed up for the beta and got a got an Email a couple of weeks ago, saying, I've been accepted before I downloaded this one of the check in the Fiene any updates on, I think it's great. You know, the idea of it is, you can't like micro amounts of stock for the purchasing, you're already doing and the theory behind it is that people become much more loyal customers. To accompany, the second their stock holder in that company. And so, is you shop somewhere in, you get these really essentially tiny rebates issued to you in stock companies look at it as much better than any kind of historical rebate because now you've got a real stake in the game you're an owner of the place. And so I think I think you go for it. And heavy heard or are they gonna roll out the folders and anytime soon, or not a word? Okay. So this is funny. I don't think this is ever happened. When I've talked about a new thing like this to my memory you were the only person who's ever asked me about it since I talked about last year. So I don't know why it didn't strike any corden people other than you and me. But it's called bumped. I just wanna make sure other people know so they can you on again, like they tip last time, but you MP dot com and it's on wait list. So how long were you on weightless before they invited you to participate? Weightless for three months. I think okay so it means they only have so much venture capital funding, and they have to rash and people in, but the stock will be your stock, and I think it's great is it still no cost to you. As far as I know. Yes. Okay. So. Cards. Can you link to that at, you know, I don't know the answer that because I never got an invite? So I don't know of mine spammed out and I didn't see it. And so I should go sign in again, because I never actually got an invitation like you've got. Oh, okay. So I'm relying on you as a member of team Clark to let the rest of us know. So if you don't mind after you have some experience with John. If you'd go post on one of our message boards at Clark dot com, so we can see what's going on. And other people can see what your experience like. Okay. Yeah. I can do that. 'cause you're a focus group of one person, the only person who so far was excited by it. God, I can be tinier. Well, I appreciate it, and hope he end up with a lot of stock from what you do. Just normally. Leases with us on the Clark Howard show. Hi, lisa. Clark. Lisa. You have a question for me about your son that I hope I can be of service with. Yes. So I've got about twenty two thousand dollars saved up. But it's just an online savings account Lauren and he is mildly. He's a high functioning autistic child. And I'm just trying to figure out where to put that money where he could. Earn more interest, and I'm looking at twenty nine but I'm not sure that's the right place to put it. He says he wants to go to college, but I'm not sure how serious. Right. So I wanna tell you about and alternative for him, if he qualifies under the conditions that are required. And that is, there's a special version of the five twenty nine account that does not have to be used for college. For someone who is diagnosed with the disability before age twenty six. And I don't know if you've heard of this called the able account. AB ellie. I was looking on your side, and I was looking at Pacific state, but I couldn't find anything about that. Sorry. I'll give you a website to look at an second. So the idea the bull is you can put fifteen grand each year end of the account for your son. Okay. And it can be used for a variety of expenses. And do you receive any kind of? Public benefits for him having autism. No. I mean he's an I he goal though he he you know, he has special I guess. Things that they allow him, you know, like, I don't know. So if you have a physician view of physician opinion that, that confirms his autism. Then you're eligible you're eligible for doing able account as a way to stash tax free cash. Okay. He was diagnosed with PDD when he was a toddler, and then once he got into kindergarten school system. To new his diagnosis up to autism but I don't know if. Like his doctor has ever physically diagnosed with that. So the reason I liked this account so much is that, you know, you're, you're on a journey and you don't know how it's going to progress through the years. And how much independence your son will be able to maintain or not that will that's kinda cloudy, I would guess, and become more clear over the years. Would would that be an accurate characterization or? No. That would be accurate. Okay. So that's why I really like the able because it gives you the ability to put money aside for him and then be able to use it for a variety of expenses. And if he ended up at a point needing more care or at some point needed to be in some kind of. Group home living, situation, or anything like that, because I know the range of possibilities is pretty wide. This money is able to be used and doesn't affect other money that he might at some point be eligible for. Okay. So I want to suggest that I and in terms of website, I'd like you to look at the able national resource center. That explains how these work and like, nobody knows these even exist, which is unfortunate, but the website you can go to able. In our C dot org. AB L, E and R, C dot org. So on the issue of traditional five twenty nine account, you could do one of those if you wanted. But the problem comes if he doesn't go to college. Yeah. And then the tax treatment of those is fantastic goes to college. It's pretty ugly. If he doesn't. And he's got a younger sister. So I guess if we couldn't do the able account, we do five twenty nine floor and than just let the money go his sister, if he didn't go to college. So you took the words right out of my mouth and set. It more eloquently than I was going to say it. And that's exactly what you could do..

I'm looking at a chick who's probably and I'm not making this up. She's got to be thirteen fourteen at most she can call and let me know different. But she is now the Michigan D E Q director her name is Lisa Clark or licensed. I dunno. It sounds like a German name listen to this Grand Rapids when it comes to taking action to mitigate harmful effects of climate change, by the way, there are no harmful effects of climate change. But Michigan is in. That was the simple message of lesser Clark. The new State Department. Environmental control director. This is people. We are headed down a nightmare path. Thank you. Rick snyder. And thank you and everyone of your other bastard rhinos in the house in the Senate in the governor's office that gave us Gretchen Whitmer. Anyway, this goes on at a packed room of environmental renewable energy advocates at the Michigan climate action summit held at the Eberhart center in Grand Rapids Clark who had a leadership role and governor Gretchen Whitmer transition is the co founder of the clean energy policy. Consulting firm five weeks energy her address Thursday was one of her first public appearances since taking over the state taking over the state environmental agency. Now, there's more to it. But I don't think we need to know much more than that other than things are gonna get really stupid really expensive. It's going to be hard to do stuff and these people. This crap seriously they really do. And then we're stuck with them. We are stuck with them for I wanna say probably eight years. What does it? The governor is what is governor for your thing? I can remember Swiss army knife jerks. Don't what is the governor's? Ten years four years or six years in Michigan? It's it's it's four years. I'm almost positive, but double triple check that for me. Just because you know, I just heard that Jerry San nuturition, Jerry Sandusky the guy that does the the patriots. What the hell's his name here? I should know this too. I know Dirk knows the student at Bob, Bob, Kraft, Bob, Kraft, Bob Kraft was just busted for soliciting a prostitute or something like that for your term. Thank you for your time. You're going to have the center sports singer, Bob Kraft, us listening prostitute. I don't care. I don't care. There's a bunch of headlines about it here on drudge it's a big it's all over the the internet's now. I guess in Florida this he's not the highest ranking name in the list. Who cares? I don't care about Republicans. They're pretty much impotent useless. I don't give a damn about Bob Kraft. He may be best the same. I don't know. He's got the money for barrels of Viagra. He looks like he's about that age. But the bottom line is this do we care whether Bob Kraft is having sex with prostitutes or Republicans as anybody give a damn I don't I really don't. I don't care. Could careless. Absolutely. It's I couldn't care less. People. Screw it up all the time. When you say, I could care less that saying that there's you you actually care because you could care less, but you don't so I couldn't care less. Now, here's another. Here's another interesting fact. Just this this clown that fake this being hung by Trump supporters having bleach turn on them. Dirtbag racist in Chicago. He's now saying he has drug problem. He saying the reason it happened is because yes, drug problem isn't an excuse for everything. Now, I I have a drug problem your honor. I robbed that Bank and took all that money because I have a drug problem. I need to get into rehab. Yeah. I can hear that just put the Amy White House June in my head. So he's these these gonna try a walk and get some kind of counseling because he claims she has a drug problem. That's why no that's not what he has. And drug problem is not a defense, by the way, never is a defense. That's just poor choice. That's one of the export choices you're on the edge. It's alternative bump music Friday. This is one of the best choices you could possibly make. You're on the edge.
