"Yes, I know it's hard to believe looking at me, but yes. I had an book and it tracked my progress. My Progress I looked at how many reps and what wait I was listening lifting at that point versus past weeks I wasn't looking at what Arnold or Sylvester Dwayne was doing. I just wanted to make sure week of a week. I was lifting a little bit more either more reps or more weight or both, and that is how you should look at your show. How many downloads are you getting? Episode is going up, or is it going down or staying flat? I don't think I have any more agreements to give you, and it really is for most of us in in as. As an ego thing and most people don't even know how to respond to this meaning. I see this and she podcast a lot when people will post a screen shot from one of these services that says Oh look I'm number whatever in whatever category and everybody goes Yay for you Yay for you. You know that kind of stuff and it's like that's really what it is. It's. It's a celebration of anything. I'm not even sure what to say about that. Because number one eighty two in government NGO state subcategory. Yeah, and no, but then it also then it tells you the country, so then you have to go I'm number one eighty-seven. Actually I I just happened to see that we were I think the feed was like one hundred and ninety six in Australia. I mean 'cause we get these emails I. Just happened to open it up and I was like Oh all right. I mean what am I I? Mean I don't know what it means I don't one hundred percent agreed chart with yourself the same little thing happening with myself when it comes to walking as well and I like to compete with myself I. Like to see how I get better when it comes to how many steps day I take and and then it's a reflection of the things that I'm doing and how I can make it better, so I can continue doing these things and part of it is comparing yourself to Jillian, michaels or anybody else who's or like anybody who had no, because there is yeah, there's there's there's over a million podcast out there. And, there's so many subtle tease that differentiate all of us. There's it just seems so bizarre to me. Ray, even if like yeah, anyway. If I'm more to compare myself as an almost fifty year old woman to J. Lo, I'd kind of be figuring out that she's got a little bit extra resources to look the way she does at fifty. I don't really have all the people that helped me look really good. So I can't. I can't have that as a comparison I can only have me to look at so moving on now to do a little bit of a shoutout. Just because we got this via our feed contact form on Lipson Dot com because we do have. Landing Page rob over at Lipson dot com slash I think the dash feed I think that that's what it is, and so we just had I'm just giving a shout out to Monica Regar- wears. She is in pre launch phase you just. Eight week accelerated podcast course, and she is focusing on walk in careers. Slash Biz, and that is women of Color in careers in business, so congrats money, God, thank you so much for reaching out and she I do know was participant in one of our weapon, the Webinar that we did a couple of weeks ago. And moving from congratulations to another email. We have to get this one in I. Know this. Little bit of a DM. From Mr the Super Blogger, this person wrote quote. Hi, how can I get noticed? As it's a tricky one, I find when I promote myself. People dislike hearing when I say as it comes across bigheaded plus make people jealous interesting in his artwork, it says quote the master of not giving a bomb on, and for someone who, in their artwork says they are the master of not giving an F. Bomb. It's almost kinda. SORTA like he gives one here. I, I would just say to him if he does not want people to be jealous and think of him as big headed. He could always just include show stats that squash jealousy. His podcast title is how to be a success unquote. There is a lot of irony in him. Reaching out to a service, he does not actually even host on to ask the question. Of you know how to be a success, so step one Komo with US step to. You know give a bomb and create some great content and step three learn humility, or at least look at your stats on a regular basis. Well I mean yeah I was surprised. I didn't quite know what to do that message. When it came in, and I also didn't know if if like there was a part of I'm like what does this person just want engagement here, right? I, assuming he this person definitely want engagement to rent some kind of tactic. It's like look. It comes across as being bid head plus I make people jealous. Alright nude. Sure good job, pointing all those three things, this person can move forward, and and then again on social. We've been having lots of social media content on our on our show today. This is a quick shout to a show that game to us the X. Y. Show. I love your tweet. Saying you were moving over to Lipson well played well played. Indeed, welcome to the family has a nice little image in their very nice saying. Hello with a big like arms wide open, so it was awesome. So. All right, so we have another voicemail this one coming from our google. Voice. Yeah so let's go ahead and hear that. People love defeat. Thank you for the time and effort that you could into that. heard you guys occasionally mentioned time as eastern standard, time, or Pacific Standard, time and many podcasters make this mistake. It's only standard time of November. Through more remember not on daylight savings time, and then march to November when we are on daylight saving time it's..

"For all major podcast platforms in our name is in their. Wave file exporting has also been improved, so there's a little like dropdown menu where you can pick, and they actually have pre like you can You can make them executive. MP3 because I mean wave file exporting is fine to your computer, but is not what you WanNa do any PODCAST hosting service. Yeah, I think that they have all of that. Set up in their into I mean everything is like you could see the little drop down on everything a setup in the way that you should go out there and then they've also updated the companion up so now users can also tweet out processing parameters in real time within the companion, the firmware updates also now lives within the companion APP so The last time whenever you open the companion APP, it Lik, it really was just to see the sounds like. At least that's how I interpreted it. Because it's got these little like audio sounds added to it, and visually you could see it on your computer so that you can understand which one is which? Move those around there, but you were never really able to look at your tracks and adjust the sounds of the tracks based on the computer. It's off on the APP. You could not do that. You had to do it from the from the actual hardware so now. This is also another thing. That's really nice that they are doing here again. If anybody has used these, we would love to hear feedback. You can go ahead and email the feed at Lipson. Lipson DOT COM so that we can get your takes on what they're doing and I think what excited me the most. When I watched the video, there's going to be a link in the show notes guys to get all of this information. They've got like this incredibly in depth blog post with about an eight minute video and I. Guess what I what really excited me about. This is the fact that if somebody buys this machine right this like piece of hardware. It keeps on getting better like there's stuff that it absolutely didn't have when I first got it that now it it has the option to have and I haven't done anything other than just update the firmware, and that includes all of this really neat functionality now that they have in the little touch screen, and the way that it looks and the way that they've changed the color so. I'm just really impressed with how they're updating all this stuff and I guess for somebody like me that I never realized how powerful software can actually be. When it first came out and kind of look like someone took an age three and assignment game, and merged the two together, and that was function -ality guy. They definitely have opted since where it was when it released. Yeah, so it. Actually made it even more Simon like. I mean. Eh, actually now has even more colors. But it looks nicer like I'm a big fan of that. I'd be looking at this stuff. And now they have colors everywhere, and it's anyway, but they do have some really great. They should add like the Simon game into their into their of next firmware there. You go guys a recommendation for two point two. Simon in there so when you're just sitting there bored. You're going to play Simon on the board on the board and think Ding. Ding Ding Ding. Hilarious. But moving on another update zen castor had also a very big update. They've added video at HD video, so you don't think that they've released this into the wild, but they. You can join the Beta from what I I know you can actually just head over to then Castro. Dot Com and there are if you scroll down the page. I believe you have the option to opt in to that. So I someone said they asked to be in it, and they're on like number eight thousand on the waiting list. What I saw that this morning. Yeah, when you go on and social media that only Gosh that's insane. Wow I. don't know if that accurate, but they like. Yeah I. I requested I requested. I'm only eight thousand on the waiting list. Wow! That's kind of nuts and request early. And often. Arena, Arlene often, I've done only. When it comes to recording with video, only done it with squad cast, and the way that's at least for for the way that I like squad cast in the sense fat you, they really focus on the audio recording and the audio processing in the way that it works, but the off of the video aspect not for recording but four. Connecting with the person so that you can, if you want look at them right and have a conversation seeing each other, but it is not focusing on creating a video from your conversation. It's all audio focused I'm you know. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Because I guess I, I'm old school in the sense that I always thought recording podcast. You don't really need to see each other, but it feels to me that that people who are coming into the scene in terms of podcasting, even though they are aware that sometimes audio may not necessarily be optimal when using video like using skype with video on or zoom with video on it could. In some way affect the audio. I feel people really want to connect with each other and see each other, whereas I've never really I never really wanted that rob. I liked to be. Wants to do video calls I'm like no I mean I. I just have my business card folded now over my camp of my cam. So that I don't accidentally turn, get into video. Call it in want to get into the Gosh, yeah, we're GONNA, at once we get to like. Where have we been? I'M GONNA. Tell you a story, but what you guys are GonNa have to wait till the story, but now we are moving to a segment about one star reviews, and just in case you guys don't know the one-star reviews segment that we have on the show. Is Essentially you letting US know about your one star review and it would be awesome if you read it to us because like Darren does your Darren does here, but hold hold off we're going to. We're going to set them up. Real Nice, but. The reason we do that is simply because you know. One Star reviews often are really defeating. Feel good. They don't feel good when you get them. They kinda hit you where it hurts. And I think that to be able to like. Speak them out or like. I don't know. Make Fun of them. In some way, just really lightens the the way that we all move through this and all of us go through it so I think The one that's coming up as possibly. The best one. I've ever heard. Shall we move on? Now that you've set that up, yes, yes, I. Know I Robert. Elsie this Darren Marlow, the host of weird darkness stories of the paranormal. Supernatural Legends Lore. stereotypes, macab, unsolved and unexplained heard you guys talking about one-star reviews, and how people have been sharing them with you so I thought I'd share this with you. It's from artist Sharon one star, and it has the subject line of every one. Scheme in about a year ago. She said this guy's voice is so boring I'm used to Mr Creepy Pasta Jack Luna from dark topic and knifepoint horror. They really know how to tell a story. Listening to this podcast is like listening to my mom telling me a bedtime story except she even made fairytales more interesting than this..

"You can even record a remote interview that sounds like you are in the same room if he used the double ender method and then in in the we hope that this tool continues to make podcasting easier. Client read about all the features. So I'M GONNA put a link to this article because they also breakdown double enders and all of that. Kinda stuff at in this very thorough article. I thought that was a really cool feature. I know that there's been times rob even though we're talking about remote recordings now that I have had Newbie podcasters come into the scene. Somebody who does it doesn't have like a powerful computer or they don't have access to some of the tools for whatever reason they want to record something and they don't quite know how to go about it and having this as an opportunity to do it even just a for a solo podcast. I think that's great because there's some people who are a little intimidating. I know that my seem weird for some of. Y'All because we've been around for a while but there's people who are really intimidated downloading a doll even if it's free even if it's audacity you know even when it comes to that kind of stuff it's like it's a little overwhelming to open up like that in seeing interface may feel super just unusual for you or an unfamiliar so maybe having something like this would be easier for people who are just starting out that just want to test the waters and feels like this is a great asset to have so go ahead and check it out. I Know John. My producer four she. Podcasts has tested this with another of his clients and I have a feeling. He's going to be reporting back in an upcoming episode but it feels like He. He told me that he was very happy with the results and now moving to some updates on facebook this is from you so. I'm GonNa let you take this as I know so. This is kind of bizarre. You guys I'm not a facebook fan at all but this is like these are updates from facebook so I only picked some that are that were the ones that I thought. Were the the most Impact podcasters the most and I again. I'll have links and the show notes that you can reference back so the first one quote you'll be able to mark facebook events as online only and in the coming weeks in agreed facebook. Live so you can broadcast to your guests to support creators and small businesses. We plan to add the ability for pages to charge for access to events with live videos on facebook anything from online performances. Two classes to professional conferences and quote. That's kind of NEAT. I mean to some degree if you are having like I was thinking of like a podcast or if you have maybe something specific like a behind the scenes on boxing of some kind or maybe like some kind of watched like some viewing party that you WanNa do only for your super fans something along those lines or maybe you're going to be teaching something specific to your audience and they are very used to doing facebook events and I didn't even know that you couldn't do facebook events in quote online. Only like I guess. That wasn't a thing before so now I know so. This would be kind of interesting. And then this part which I really loved quote were making it. Easier to access live video so you can watch or listen anywhere. If you have limited data or a spotty connection you now have the option to listen to the audio only anyone that has limited data or spotty connection. That would be me A. This is so exciting for me. Okay if you don't have a facebook account. Most public live videos are now available on the web and some pages can share a toll. Free number that lets you listen through the audio through any telephone and quote. This is bizarre. I think that was kind of weird but alas I like the functionality of making some of this stuff accessible to anybody I also really appreciate the fact that some of these facebook live event. Or whatever. Don't require you to have a facebook account which in the past has been an issue like sometimes. You can't even see stuff and you keep seeing like open up your account or sign in all the stuff so but alas being able to listen versus watching. I think is a huge plus. There are very little at least from my under like things that I have consumed that are live events on facebook. There are very few times when I want to watch something. Usually it's like you can put it onto the side and keep working in your primarily listening so lot of times I'll have a video. That's running behind the browsers and although the work I'm doing just to listen to the audio. So the candidate. Yes so this is a great and I know you guys. I haven't tested any of this out yet and I'm not sure if it's they did have a release at the beginning in obviously right now like an like an aproximately right now. It's so last month so check it out. Let let us know if you do anything special in that would be awesome the email the feet at Lipson dot com. And now we're GONNA move over to our second promo of the episode then naturist living show.

"Were at zero point two nine percent in December which is up from zero point two percent where it was from. May through October. So yes apple podcast being added to. Alexa made a difference. Almost a fifty percent increase but sadly fifty percent increase of point. Two percent is not a big round number eight always go. But Hey it's it's start. The IOS android ratio in December was up to four point six to one versus four point zero to one in October. That increase was to be expected as I was. Thirteen rolled out more mobile aggregate or APPS. I should point out why that is In Iowa's thirteen. The PODCAST APP is now native not native but on the home screen so new people getting all these new iphone elevens and whatnot the apple. Podcast APP is right. There and Oscar mobile aggregate or APPs not from spotify. Stitcher or from apple moved down a bit in December to fourteen point. Zero percent of all downs loads versus fifteen point zero in October and the big dog and aggregate APPs is still apple with apple podcast APP and I tuned coming in at fifty nine point six percent of all Dallas December. That's a little bit from where it wasn't October number. Two spotify at eleven point six stitches came in at third two point five overcast a two point four cast box two point one five podcast addict. One point nine four Google podcasts. At one point nine. And then podcast at one point three and that's everybody over one Except those absent never picked their user agents Ones with as your application name something And then to mothers combined by two percent but ones with names under one percent that were allowed to report our pod being player. Fm Pandora podcast Republic downcast. A tune in radio DEESOR ANTENNA pod breaker pod. Kicker Ara says Radio Himalayas Castro radio public eye catcher luminary bullhorn and Pod cruncher and then many more that come in under point. Oh two percent don't really weren't mentioned the big change in stats with spotify. Being passed through. Is that now looking at the spotify percentage for all shows it dropped a little A little bit versus just shows on Lipson DOT COM which by the way I went and looked at Lipson. Dot Com shows and it's percentage went up a little in December from October. One from thirteen point one to thirteen six but overall now that. I can look at all at once. Including all programmers customers. The percentage is down a little and that brings us to the last news item and that is the very bad reports that floated since the last episode went out. That spotify somehow beat apple podcasts consumption or was even or close no no no if saw any post about spotify overtaking apple in the last two weeks. It's all triggered to either the Morgan Stanley report and also a really really bad survey numbers from media research. Let's set the record straight and this. This is setting the record straight apple. Podcast I tunes is are the number one place. Podcasts are downloaded period. It's not just Lipson data. That says that but everyone else in the space as well charitable just released numbers that were pretty much darn close to ours within one percent for spotify and with one percent for apple and I have talked to others that are pretty close as well and and I should stop and point this out. Spotify numbers great. I've said this many times is great having a solid number two. But there's a big big gap between number one at sixty percent and number two at eleven point six and last time I checked sixty percent is Kinda SORTA more than eleven point. Six not equal. You hear me media research and Morgan Stanley. The numbers media research are just plain bad in my opinion. In how bad are they you ask? Well they got called out by. Everyone knows anything about podcasting and media. Research quickly realized their numbers were BS and way way off from reality which then left them with to clear choices one humbly admit they don't know the space and that their survey was off the mark or two they could double down on their ignorance and try to make up a definition for podcasting to fit their horrible report and much to their credit. They chose option one. Who Am I kidding? Of course they went with option to and believe it or not released an article titled Quote. Just what is a podcast anyway which they then try to change what a podcast was to meet their horrible survey see in their original report. They ask people if they listen to podcasts. An apple music well. Of course not because anyone. That knows anything about podcasts. Knows Apple Music does not have podcast in their double down chain reality posts. They said quote we of course know that. Rss DELIVERED. Podcasts are not available on apple music but podcast content and podcast like content is available there especially music shows unquote at that point. I was looking for the back link to the onion. We will actually link to this post from media research in the show notes because I think we all need a good laugh and cry. I emailed mark with media research early on and I offered to give him real data showing what people actually did from hundreds of millions of downloads. I will leave you with this quote from mark in that. E mail exchange quote. Yes we're measuring different things you're tracking analytics to see total market activity. Today we're tracking audience behavior and attitudes to present a view of where tomorrow is heading east or complementary methodologies unquote After that email they released that horrible post changing. What a podcast is. I don't think they care about being accurate which sorta you know is important for research to say? I'm very I know news and you step down. Yeah I think that one of the biggest things is that I didn't quite understand the behavior and and I keep coming back to apple music like I. Just don't get that aspect of it even if they are you saying like ours feed and then sometimes even music podcasts are downloaded and people listening playlist on apple music and all the stuff in house like. I don't think I've met anyone who has listened. They know they messed up. And the only solution was to try to rewrite. Change the narrative to say no. We didn't mess up. We we knew this. Of course we knew this. We're we just changed the definition of podcast because we're New Year and we can change it and the other thing. I not quite understanding. Is there tracking audience behavior and attitudes to present a view of where tomorrow is heading and so? I'm still not sure how I'm not sure how that's showing it not don't because the surveys like what are you doing how you listening well tomorrow. That's today right but if you look back at because of the tax because of the technology and the way that people are actually consuming podcasts..

"To pay for three streaming services. One of them got to go bye bye Hulu so is he doing be Hulu or Netflix probably going to be Hulu before it'd be Netflix Netflix me wrong who I don't really fuck with much yeah but Disney pluses for take off stream of money so yeah can't you're in a Netflix. No I live unaware sleep always there. If I came academy we don't fight light so Netflix is going to have to stay and T- money's going to be like dude if we can't keep the W._W.. Network then annoy you. Stay away easily so I guess I'm GonNa have to pay for three refocused streaming services. 'cause I'M GONNA have to have Disney plus. There's there's no getting around that I have to have did any plus especially to because they did a smart thing and they actually took the shows and they said we're not just making these shows to make these shows like when we did on Netflix daredevil not shit where we were just kind of throwing shit out there and I mean that was an marvel studios knowing that I was just like Marvel entertainment that made the Netflix shows but with these these are directly tied in to and use Z. characters directly from the movies right so there's and everything yes spin off shit like ages a shield shaped like no no this is Anthony Mackie and Sebastian staying coming back to play winter soldier and Falcon Hawk and we and we brought Jeremy Back. As what else was he fucking doing and made him. You know be Hawkeye again so I'm just like that's that's the thing that gets me most excited for these shows because I was like oh they're making a show whatever but if they're still going to keep same actors anti into the Greater Universe what I'm with it Yep. I'm telling t money right now. Okay we're going to have to have the Disney plan but I mean for real. We are pretty much with all that being said though I mean there was a lot of other stuff that came out of common calendar I saw and I wanted to talk about but I was like. I WanNa hit the main important big things that were announced that I know real people are going to want to hear our opinions on so sorry. If something happened at comic con I did not bring up. Make it better because you wanted more of it. I guess. Yeah, I mean that a lot of episodes like that to where it's ended, and you're like, oh, that's one of my favorite ones was the one that aging. No, with the child molester. One. Okay. Rob the Bank, and he's been watching kid for, like, I was like, I would watch a whole movie adjusted like that was crazy. But okay. But still though, I mean I was just curious. I mean not to change your answer to challenge it or anything. So liked it. Yeah. Okay. All right. I'm going to say really fucking liked it because of your same reasoning because there are so many questions because I wanted more, I feel like that's. "How what what signals Google's looking for on the web page? So let me let me look at. Okay. Let's look at what is it called the bead Lipson. Yeah. We'll tell I was just also looking at just typing in the name of the show. Right. New media show for an and spreaker live show without any kind of additional derive. It doesn't Oster or anything like that. I mean, it it still comes up. It just doesn't come up with the functionality cells. So if I searched the feed now, look what we got here, da da the feed dot Lipson dot com. And I know they don't have an external site for the feed at Lipson. So here it doesn't have the apple podcast listening. It has the feed that Lipson dot com. Now, if I'm a podcast or at Lipson, and I have my own website. And all of a sudden my show start showing up at the dot Lipson version of your show. I think that would be pissed, but I know that this show at Lipson is on Lipson. So, but it's a tent search result. Let me do the feed podcast. So it's a little higher. But all look at it this. It's a different show. It's a Chicago. Chef rush into newer, Rick. So I have to go the feed Lipson. Podcast. And there it is. It's at the top one was listed. There. Looked like let me back up. It's podcast at apple dot com. But yeah, there's podcast one the feed podcast right has met funny. So that's where that chef. So there's it's all about the semantics of the search results, you know, the feed. So if I type in the feed lips and podcasts. Well, people are gonna no no one's going to discover the Lipson feed. You know, it's just like I I think about my site. If I go back, and I do I just do get news. You know, I do dominate some of the search results. But I'm nothing for my podcasts. But if I do eat news podcast, then boom, I'm there. So what this what we really why here? This is discovery. Right. We want our shows discovered. So here's something I was trying. So I said, okay. I did my latest episode. It's and it's entitled Amazon's treatment pregnant women actually, it isn't the last episode because recorded thirteen sixty six Thursday nights. So this has not updated. Let me go look and see if it's updated on apple podcast go over to apple podcasts. And yes, it's updated here. I'm already at thirteen sixty six but the Google search results is only shown thirteen sixty five. So let me so let's look at episode thirteen sixty five and let me search for the title of that show Amazon's treatment of pregnant women. Let me just pace that in in the goal here. The goal. And if I look at this. Okay, I'm very happy. Where the episodes ranked the episode is ranked one two three is ranked number three in search results. This this is what a podcast or wants. But do I Edward podcast? And do we see the results? Nope. Nothing changes. So go goes to number one now, but I don't see audio there. There's no audio link. So ultimate goal is. We want our episode titles in the search results at Google to show the player because this is this if if someone's going to type in Amazon's treatment of pregnant women, and I come up number three, and there's a there's a player button there. Done. We won..

"Like, I am specifically because I'm really curious to see what happens down the road with these people. I mean, I hopefully Kentucky who Enright and all these other people who did he's Expos as about this kind of should follow up and keep up with the story because I'm I'm really fascinated to know what is going to be the fallout from all this in the workers era games have said they plan to do more walkouts in the future. So I'm really curious to see how long this is going to go until something comes to a head. And what the solution will be from all this like it. And the whole thing is really fascinating to me. And for all the people that. Think. Oh, I think I know what all I have the right answers put it like this. You don't need to know. What's right to know? What's wrong? And this is wrong. That that was good. I like those really good. That was good. Well, any any other final thoughts on this before we go? I think you invent kinda took the show on. No, I I've seen I've seen too much in it. I chalk it up to both the being in professional jobs, and I haven't had a professional job quite like that. I don't wanna I don't wanna be dead horse with this one. But I'm really curious to see what's going to happen. And what's gonna be fallout from this? Because I got a feeling that there's there's going to be more ways to come. And there's going to be more fallout not necessarily in a good way for the workers. But we'll see. "Questioning authority dot Lipson dot com. Okay. All right. That's not bad Lipson. Good host for for podcasting. All right. So speaking of podcasts a lot of libertarians Tom woods during the Ron Paul campaign of two thousand eight and two thousand twelve he's a New York Times bestselling author and has written over a dozen books, including the politically incorrect guide to American history since September of two thousand thirteen Tom woods has been putting out the Tom would show every single weekday which has racked up over twelve hundred episodes, so far his guests have included Ron Paul judge. Andrew Napolitano, David Stockman, and hundreds more topics include war, the Federal Reserve net neutrality, the FDA Austrian economics and other subjects of interest to libertarians. You can find the Tom would show online at Tom woods dot com or search for Tom would show in your favorite pod catcher. And I just went to go and check just out of curiosity 'cause I had heard that there was a poll with the New Hampshire gubernatorial candidate whose name Gillette. Jarvis that had happened. And she'd only gotten one percent turns out a different poll was done at around the same time similar sample size where she pulled four percent. So that's not bad four percent. If she could get four percent that will actually keep the libertarians with ballot access at the same level of the Republicans and Democrats it's not gonna apparently get her into the debates as I said, there's a protests going on as we speak because they're the TV station has set a much higher standard than four percent, a ridiculous standard, a clearly unfair standard and part of the reason for this. Now, this is obviously speculation, but I'm going to try to back. This up is the main party candidates will protest if they have fair actual like, hey, if you're qualified for the ballot. You get in the debate, which is what it should be. If that was the requirement the one requirement, then what would happen would be the democrat or the Republican one or the other or both would say we're not going to. So then they don't have a debate. Right. If the the main to won't debate, all you got the libertarian willing to debate. Or if one of the main two dozen debate will they move forward with it and have an empty seat on stage. They might in the case of a radio station is a community radio station. So like one of these low-power FM stations in what they call the north country, which is the biggest county of all of New Hampshire. It's called colossus county. That's where they have the porcupine freedom festival in fort fast. The they have this radio station, and they invited all three gubernatorial candidates all three who were qualified to debate. And guess what happened? The democrat believe refuse to respond, and the Republican refuse said that he could make it basically just refuse to go because the limit and this is my speculation because they knew probably the libertarian had said, yes, they knew the libertarian would be there. And the fact is a libertarian even one that's small government kind of like Gillette is she's not she's not like, a volunteer. Issed libertarian even a small government libertarian will clean the floor with a standard run of the mill Republican or democrat much. And that's that. I think is one of the big reasons why you way, they work very hard to keep libertarians out of the debate, right? Sorry, good. Because if if you had a libertarian gubernatorial candidate presidential candidate congressional seat, whatever come on TV and have people. A large number of people exposed to these ideas. That's dangerous. Right. Right. Upset the whole applecart. I think it could be that in the instance, where they have a libertarian candidate who's actually articulate. But I think it also could be NBC I've seen I've paid attention to to a few just you'll libertarian candidates him. Like, some of them are like ver ver not very articulate over weird. Yeah. And so, but they would I imagine night in the in that case, they the Republican or democrat, even if you know, the person won't be able to like best film in a debate. Even if they do have the right ideas is because they don't want the Republican democrat. They don't want to give legitimacy to a third party. Certainly don't. Yeah. Absolutely. And so they have these shifty things they can do like not showing up now, obviously they wanna be on the w yard abate if they don't show up in colossi county on some little tiny little FM radio station. Okay. Probably not the end of the world for their campaign. But if they don't show up to WMU are it's going to look bad. So they worked with w. You're obviously. And it's obviously speculation but to make sure the libertarians don't get in. Right. And who knows how long it's going to take before a libertarian actually gets to twelve percent in a poll because it's one of those chicken or the egg things if you can't get the exposure for your campaign, how are people supposed to know about the campaign to decide to vote for the campaign further? Some of these polls as we found out in New York, haven't even included the the libertarian right now. That's just that's just rigged. I mean, there's no other way to put. But why would you think w just in your opinion? Why do you think WMU are would go along with with that with banning the third party candidate because that's that's attention grabbing right back and get a lot of more ratings. Right. You know, usually just boring to people for as a third person question. Great question. So there's a certain aspect of being in the media. And where if if you are a political reporter talk show host or something like that. And you know, we don't do this. You're on free talk live because we don't care for politicians. We're not interested in them, generally. But if you are a political junkie kind of reporter, you have to interview these people that's kind of like what you're expected to have to you have to ask them for it. And if they don't you save so and so refused to comment. Sure. That's true. If you had some integrity, that's what you would do these people want to pander to the politicians because they want to get the interview they want to they think the politicians are special. And so they treat them in some cases like royalty. They treat them very special. And so they want to get the interview they wanna pandered to them. So they don't ever ask the tough questions or they ask sort of the politically expected questions like what are you gonna do about the environment? You know, not anything with any real teeth or importance right only asked the questions that allow the parties to somewhat differentiate themselves from one another within a certain pre-approved political spectrum. And I'm not saying this is any sort of grandiose plan by Rupert Murdoch or whoever it is. You know, owns all the media as the conspiracy theories go, it's just the. The desire of the individual reporter, the individual talk show host to feel important, right? They wanna feel like they have the connections to the political people just like somebody in the, you know, the Hollywood reporting industry wants to feel like they have connections to the stars. And they don't wanna lose their White House press passer. Whatever go I will say it is also from the top of me and just being reported myself. I faced prior restraint from people who have no right to tell me. What to do you had this happened recently? You are a news editor at the local college paper here in town. Yep. Yup. In that case, it's someone die. I don't really wanna get into the personal stuff. But they told.

I believe Colorado Springs is that. Correct, Kris. That's right. Colorado Springs about an hour, south Denver, right at the foot of pikes peak. Very interesting. Well, Chris has already become a regular since this is the second time that he's coming on beyond podcasting, so welcome back. Chris. Koren happy to be here. If you would understand the joke, I might say welcome back kotter. Oh, yeah, Mr. gun Mr. Qatar. Exactly. Well, today were here to talk about something different. Something that we haven't talked about before on beyond podcasting, and the name of the show is branded. S s in the area of platform expulsion and that requires lots of explanation. And Chris, of course, is the man behind podcast engineering school, and he's really, really good in audio recording and post production. But he's a podcast her and I wanted to have a friendly podcast or with me to stop me when I say things that are too complex and need some explanation. So that's why asked. This to come with us today, and I appreciate it. Chris, that you're here, I should have brought my whistle. I could blow my whistle when I wanna stop you. Yes, yes. Even though your site kick berry is not there. I might occasionally stop and say, what would bury say because of this situation or something like that. Yeah, several things in the explanation here before we get into the nitty gritty and some of the newbies in this medium might be asking at the very, very beginning, what's in our s s? So let's talk about that a little bit for a minute, and then we'll go forward from there. And I like to make some analogies as we go along. There's the official words that come behind it, which is rich site summary, although a lot of people just call it real simple syndication, and even though that's not the official name for it, I like that nickname that it has because it has to do with syndication. And if we do the analogy of a conventional AM or FM radio station, Kris, have you ever visited one in in your history? Yes. Yeah. Few times actually once when I was in cub scouts when I was real young, but but in my adult life, yeah, a few times I've been radio stations. In fact, you just brought the memory I knew had gone as a kid, but I didn't remember. And I think it probably was with cub scouts also. Yeah, that's great to know. Well, I like to make the distinction that if you're in the lobby, if you haven't come in back to the part where the offices in the studios are because there's usually a lobby and there's usually a big speaker on the wall and that speaker was just the speaker. It was connected to their board in their master control where you would hear what's being broadcast. It wasn't a radio. It was the actual signal of the radio before it went out to the transmitter. So when people come in depending on how you set up your show, of course, but at least with mine when people come in the visit directly on my website and they press play, it's like they're in the lobby of the radio station. It hasn't gone through our assess. It hasn't been syndicated and that's why I like that nickname because it includes the word syndication because of. We always want our shows to be syndicated on lots of different platforms. And of course the popular platforms include what used to be called. I tunes and now it's gradually being converted into apple podcasts and Google podcasts and tune-in Stitcher all these different platforms because we want to be heard as many places as possible. So my analogy is when you're sitting in the lobby of the radio station, it's like when you're on the website, at least the way mine is set up in it, maybe different the way each individual person sets it up because some of the people set up the website so that it's actually using a player that is connected through our assessment, depends how it set up, but at least the way mine is it's playing the MP three directly. They were specially bred hand What's the word field Yeah okay yeah I can't remember. The name, of Jimmy the Greek I think was the one that I haven't found that a particularly racist. Statement of all the racist statements that are out there and the. Reasons. That. People, should be fired that seems to some. Extent to, be a relatively historically accurate statement The accurate. Thing is that's what they categorize back in the bad but anyway Liberal and people like. Him and the other adults that are getting money, to keep a mild shit because if. He did start a charter school just hate LeBron James and? Maybe why would you question his motives for. Starting school that's pretty People like him they need to get back. To the point like I say on spreads pretty cynical saying? Hold on I'm Ben real list are you saying, that because, LeBron James is a sports star he should keep his mouth shut is that. What you actually said earlier each channel the money. Into something more productive. Life and all of the black people. Rise he, can't go around creating assemblers live disabled food it's all or nothing what would you propose that, he do I mean if he feels. Like he can take his money. And put it. Spend his money to be, effective you to, criticize that and what would you say that he should do besides that it's a vision of cruelty what he's doing what he should do money to have a mid campaign to get all the other athletes like him onboard and. Tell them to stop inches skate? And get behind a effort to lift all. Of those people out of the situation what is that Right now do you want to just a cash handout. From LeBron James We have enough areas than I community that are suffering that a national. "And so I understand that argument and that's I'd. But at the same time they're an open mic are. And why are they pretending they're not going to be hired for gardens of the galaxy? Yeah, there's no. The thing is like there's there's such thing as hate speech and like when you're Atta Mike at show or whatever, and they're just saying something hateful, I'm like, this is not a joke though. Like that's different, like no one, stopping your ability to to do jokes because you're not doing jokes. This is not there's no future in this in terms of like marketability, it's not funny. You're offending people and not even offending people in like, ooh, that's a crazy perspective and like it's different from what it. It's just a lot of it's low hanging fruit. So I think it's more of like a. When when people who are becoming a relevant are kicking and screaming, it's like, well, why don't you look at why you're becoming irrelevant instead of fighting? It seems like it seems like just wanting to hold onto mediocrity in things that are easy. That's how I feel there's, I think it's two different camps, but people like to be like PC cultures ruining comedy in some areas shor in other areas like you're just you're past it. I held onto a couple for a while. I held onto them and I said it and I would watch people's shocked faces and it would annoy me because you know me, you know that I'm saying this word because it is a word because you hold onto well them right now and success amount. Honestly, all of them all of them, you know, I think I took just a hair too long on all of them. You know, because the r. word, for example, grew up in queens, right? I, I think to. Tarred something a word I wanted to use that sometimes avoid that. And and I got angry because it's it's describing something. I also got angry because people who are on the specter or whatever makes you an actual what's mentally handicapped Orson. They top trying to say makes you an actual Andrea fleas fill in the gaps. What does the. And were person in the room, say it I can for minute. They were holding onto the word, you know they, they were offended that we were offended. And maybe I was just holding onto that because I really, you know, but it's when it comes down to it. It's solely what I don't have another adjective. Well, it's also life. It is even adjective. You can say it like, no, there's no police taking you away. When you say it's just you are going to have a poor reaction now. So what you do with that is up to you, you can. Yeah about it or you can try to understand why things are changing in this way? I don't whatever. So the art of it, honestly, whatever happened to the art of using new words and new ideas because I see these comedians that why can't we use the old words? Why can't we have the old way of thinking? I've never seen a done funny seen it in twenty eighteen using your old way of thinking done. Funny. Why can't I be. Because you physically can't. Yeah, you are unable to, you know what else it is for those going. Why can't I any more, whatever fill in the blank because we're texting on a keyboard in our hand riled. So if you want to do that, you have to call me because that's how we used to do when I used to use the r. word I was calling you doing. Yeah. So call me no more tax, no. Why are you Email me? Why can't we call each other anymore? I get it. I get that you want to call people, but now if you want exclusively go back in time because you can't just pick, you can't the our word and then not go back in time for the rest of it. So if you're using the internet, if you're listening to a podcast, if you're doing any of the new words, what one of the internet mean when you were using the our word back in the day? Yeah. Did internet have a meaning or did you have to learn the word internet? What? What's WI fi, that's new Lipson dot com. That's new. All these words are new. This is just part of it. I feel you're an artist, things are different now or we're playing with charcoal. Can you draw. Picture?.
