"Hello and welcome to crew shack. We have some breaking news. Rob hits the siren cameron. Thank you we previously recorded episode in which we went through the eight worst teams of the upcoming nba season Our first edition of the power rankings but after we recorded we got some weight breaking news. pamper all that The minnesota timberwolves or according to this release the minnesota timber waddles have fired cursing rosas One of the teams that we actually discussed later in this episode. You'd probably hear that full discussion later. But wise seems like this one's coming out of nowhere. Are you surprised that our man gerson rosa's a friend to every nba writer in the nation is gone so abruptly. I'm surprised but at the same time we shouldn't be surprised because there's a new regime in town right. They just bought the team. They paid a a lot of money for it. They didn't hire row house or rosa's excuse me and so it's not. We shouldn't be surprised that they decided that they want to go on their own direction. that being said this is of crazy right like they just hired a new coach in the middle of last season. And usually when it's new. Gm comes in. They're gonna wanna new coach as well so like what. This sort of sets off a domino effect. That's kind of crazy. And you know. Also at the same time chris hind beat writer for the star tribune In minnesota he tweeted this out. He said there's been a building discord between rosas and the rest of the front office in the organization that has been going on for months. Sources said that team decided to take action now before the season begins instead instead of letting that discourse linger so while this may seem like a surprise this has been building internally with the wolves for a while Always a good sign when a week. Less than a week can't start. You just can't take the discord anymore. Well you sign. The group chat podcast. I'll just say that right now was also sign is also a good sign. When you're star player tweets out wti in response to major breaking news about your franchise not only wgn. But w t f dot dot dot that fourth dot not typically part of ellipses. So you know that he put a little bit more thought to. It was a little bit more. What the hell no. I think it's just three dots. I think you overstated the dots. My screen is playing tricks on me. Okay so it's just a typical. There's only so much that. I mean you can look at it as i do. Think there's probably something to what was said about like a new ownership. Want to insert new guys this era. Just you know getting rid of everything. That isn't a shark tank product from the clubhouse. You know just like it's really putting their stamp on the new organization on the other hand. This was released by glenn. Taylor minnesota timberwolves and lynx owner. This is like from the desk of glenn taylor so it could be the case like roses like pissed them off too much and you just had enough which i think is actually the worst possible outcome for this. That like there's just some sort of rancor and you just couldn't get past it and you decide to fire him right before the eve of training camp now. Well it's just hard to extricate this news from the wolves persistent place in the ben simmons conversation and what that could mean in this and as we've been talking about just the the want and oftentimes need of new ownership groups to just completely changed the trajectory of franchise like you know by this stuff to keep it the same. You don't spend this much money to keep a team the same. So what this means for. Chris finch waza to wait and see. I mean certainly. This isn't a team that has done itself in a lot of favors organizationally as far as like being so good that nobody's job. Is unsafe thirteen. That was going to be facing a lot of pressure this season to improve to be better. Clearly the wolves got ahead of all that by just cleaning house upfront. Seems hasty just the roll out of this news. The timing of it very strange but not entirely une timber wolves in that way. Look if you want to spend this in some sort of positive if you're a wolves fan the on glenn taylor in the past is that he's been kind of an absentee owner right like you know the opposite of a sort of meddling hands on owners that he just basically he let the likes of david. Kahn do whatever the hell he wanted for years. Kevin mckell do whatever the hell he wanted for years. That was the knocking passo at least with this regime. You can say to yourself if you want to spend it. Positively that they're paying attention. They got their eyes on the prize. They want a vet their own people bring their own thing in and get this thing rolling in the right direction. So i guess that's one way of looking at this as a good thing has shades of ryan mcdonagh getting fired just before training camp. The season started a couple of years ago and look at that. One of two ways like sons were just in the nba finals. So perhaps this is the step back to take seven to ten steps forward eventually on the other hand. I don't think this is a sign of a well-run fully functional organization. And so we'll get into some of the nitty gritty of the wolf specifics. But i think still hold. Sure there's still oughta rosser questions a lot of how they're going to fit in to a full season. Chris finch type questions. But i don't know like this doesn't start you off on the right foot. I i don't know it just. It probably is going to be tough to recover from this. Even if they do get everything right. Just on the corridor like who's even gonna play on the team. Well this is what we get because on the podcast about to here i would say. We bordered on something approaching timber wolves optimism. This is what you get when you speak that kind of nonsense into the world. Is the wolves just rolling back. Same kind of stuff. They always do at least now. Yeah maybe hopefully. It's a new day under the new ownership. Maybe they're able to get something going out of the ashes of all of this particular front office. But it's as you're saying just and this is a tough thing to just like pick up and move on from at the start of the season like this will be the dominant story of timber. Wolves training camp every player will be asked about it. It's gonna roll into the season especially if they hesitate to find a replacement or they're not able to fill that spot right away. Then you're talking about you know team. Maybe more than any in the league right now needs to make trades to improve its roster and isn't it a position to make those traits right now 'cause they don't have a general manager president of basketball operations. Yeah i think the worry. They have in just briefly. Because we didn't touch on this later. Is that karl town sees this and he actually wants out before they can import a more help. It seems like the past two years of the rosa's regime however long that was was built around trying to convince towns at this was a place to stay imported jan daniel russell his friend. He's in trade talks with ben. Simmons reportedly another guy from That basic age range you anthony edwards is just seem like everything was designed to maximize towns and you have to wonder if these ellipses continue on into the season like is he going to jump the process. It doesn't matter about towns like showing up this year becoming superstar. Is he just going to ask out and decide to do that elsewhere. Will he dropped the fourth dot. Lipsius tweet at some point as what you're saying all right what you will hear now is what we recorded earlier in the day. It is our preseason group chat power rankings number thirty two. I believe twenty three You will hear immediately us talk about other things including Wada's new relationship so stay tuned be right back enjoy..

The girl has called off the wedding. So just pray on it and make sure you're comfortable with your decision not bullied. I you know i'm sorry. Apparently joy reid called her out last night on her. Show and nikki. Manashian all nuts on her. What is wrong with people. What is wrong with people. Seriously i i just don't i just don't understand i just really don't understand. Why why. why do people do this. Why oh all right are i see. Jason is showing up so before jason gets here. We're going to bring jason and just one minute but before we do have a special message that i want to share with you. It's a message from well from somebody in texas on that texas abortion law and. I think it's a. It's a really important message that you need to hear. So jason standby. I'll be with you and just a moment but i want to share this message. It's from her name is karen. How do you pronounce it Goggle no no gag reflects gag reflects really karen okay. Karen tell us what you want to tell us about the the texas abortion law here we go et cetera. And thank you so much for having me. You know I've had students coming up to me and they've been saying professor magog reflects the reflects this abortion law would ease easing and for me. It's really easy because as a former embryo myself. I know what it's lack to be sitting inside your mama wondering if you're gonna get the chance to go from embryo to outreach you now side because when you're an embryo you're just this little baby angel food cakes inside your mama's easy baby. Pray in for that tomor to go off before. She's not hungry anymore. Oh i think that's the problem is that we need to be teaching people how to stay hungry for their babies. Okay we gotta stay hungry for our oh oak and that and that's the end of her Message karen no new gaga flex. No no gag reflex. I get it blair erskine. Everyone sorry. she just cracks me up. Had to share that with you jason lee. Are you familiar with blair erskine. Save funny she. She's so real. I mean the first first thing i ever saw from her was when she was one of the The people who donald trump stranded outside of a rally in nebraska and the dead of winter and the people were bussed from where they had to park and then the rally ended and the buses weren't there to take them back to their cars and they froze like the side of the road. They were stranded there for hours and hours and she was a freezing woman out in the cold in nebraska after trump rally. Who couldn't get to her car and was making all kinds of excuses and some chat room is. It's so funny because they they were fooled by her. They were actually fooled by a couple of times. So good. I wasn't sure for a minute. I karen no gag reflex. That would spell nagara flags. Yeah anyway. She just cracks me up so high. Jason leopold how are you. are you nicole. I'm hanging in there hanging in there. But i i saw you know. I tend to do every few weeks. It seems. there's another scoop. And i see the word foia and it's like okay. I know this jason's all over this and sure enough. This time you had been trying since january to get a hold of the the the permit that were issued for january six by the capitol police and you couldn't. Yeah so this is. What's interesting about this so this is not for you. This is these records that were not a really And so To kind of bring you back in january january six. The there were certainly questions about you. Know what the capitol police no. When did they know what would happen. With regard to any intelligence that have been shared with them prior to up which turned out to be the riots in the insurrection at the capitol and there were a number of permits that were granted to a different organizations that were staging demonstrations Certainly around freedom plaza lipsius over there and you know a question came up as to what was happening on capitol browns now when you want to demonstrate on capitol grounds. You need a permit for that and then you go to. The capitol. Police special events section. You know you filing application you ask for a permit now. Unlike other federal agencies that grant permits you can federal agencies that granted permits on that day such as the national park service The capitol police do not release. These permits. do not release the applications. Do not release their reviews. These applications and the reason for that nicole is that capitol police is. The day are exempt from foyer. Because they are considered. An arm of congress So this police force is one of the most secretive police forces in the country and an has a massive budget. So i wanted these permits. And i wanted to figure out how i could perhaps take a look at that now short. Someone leaking copies of the permits We gotta come up with a with with a way to kind of gain access to them. So enter jeffrey light. Who is a fantastic attorney in washington. Dc who specializes in freedom of information act cases a public records. And i've been working with them for more than a decade now and he came up with this With with with a great idea and that idea was the Common law right of access to public records so the argument is is that even though there are records that are not subject to foia. The public still has a right to see certain records such as final That a final decisions okay. From agencies like the courts courts are not subject to foia and you know the white houses and subject to four. So the argument is is that we would you know. The public has the right to see records that Even even though they may be exempt so we filed the lawsuit filed a lawsuit citing the common law right of access to public records and we targeted these permits. And so we did that. Back in february You know fast forward to last week up where we released a story. That's kinda just that the backstory with us that what what's really really noteworthy here is that one. The capitol police did not fight us. Honor they gave us. They gave us the permits and there may be a legal a legal reasons for that. Perhaps they didn't wanna create a precedent but in doing so. This became kind of the first time that this has ever been a successful as as attorney. Jeffrey light noted so this is a really really.

Okay that's what i'll do I have a few parlays. A few picks For tonight's game. i'll start with my big connor campbell. Same game parlay that that's right. Well i don't know if of the day fifteen of of the week. So this is one Oj howard touchdown score. Brady commented on him earlier. He was like hey listen. Oj harrison have held the seasons. I expect him to da break. No sir patrick. Mac tell you is giving the same game partly for tonight. Yeah i got a couple of them. It's a big one. Yeah there's a few of this. I i love the most. Oj howard anytime touchdown. Score mike evans anytime touchdown score and this is where it gets interesting. Tony eight and a half for the game nine and a half now nine and a half got it at a and a half good for you. First quarter spread tampa bay bucks two and a half. Aw i love that a lot. I love that law. He was just hey by the way he was just out there trying to sell himself and everybody else he ran it by a couple of different people. We feel i love it. I think it's good fine. 'cause if they're thinking it's going to be nine and a half at this point. What does that mean. They think it's gonna get ugly late. Do you think the boxer and it starts slow. I don't think so. I'm on your side corner. This is good find. I i well let me pull it up to see what the first half sprint is. My favorite better. The week is a first half actually initiative amazing. Because it's the first game we know nothing about any of these teams a thing. Every game could task is six. So i like what you value the first quarter. Yeah just feels. I thought i don't think brady's yeah even if they don't though. I don't think the boys are going to come out after raising a banner and landed on either side of the ball. You know what i mean. Especially with the dax. He's got come out. Slow allegedly knock on wood Last part of that same game parlay is the over home points of thirty and a half field goal in four scores. Yeah sign me up. I don't care. I would've taken thirty five and a half i also took. This is another out. Space bar different. Same game parlay smart ones. Free one is once free. One is in. In antonio brand score a touchdown you did said early in the week early in the week on that to the yes. This is the first place. This is the one. I like the most real quick before you even get to this. I want to let you know i'm scrolling. This is what i'm talking about when i say fan. Dole has gotten so good on behind the scenes. They know they know. It's a boost right now. I think antonio brown i touchdown score plus nine fifty here. There's another one. I just saw. It was cd lamb or leonard. Fournette score the first touchdown plus seven hundred. I liked that a lot. Not because of the bet but because i have both of them in the same game parlay with rob gronkowski so if one of 'em scores in that hits yada yada yahtzee but yes. Those are my two official ones tony. Box seven and a half. I would still be comfortable with it or not and a half and ab score. Judge me as you will on those two godkin judge. Only god can judge me but so can you on the internet I still love the over thirty point five home. Total points even though that is up to thirty one question. Only god can judge you to wrap like this. I think so. It is a lot of threes. If senate i believe. Also it's in the bible right. Oh a lot. i haven't read. That one is that in the bible. Yeah it is really really reading. What jesus and that guy close. Jesus for the optimist. I'm reading his to guys fucking believed is cheese factors tango. What about jesus the judge then. Because aren't those two different people right. He's your dot. I think that one's up to you. Excuse me you choose like only god can judge me. But if jesus judge you to your decision so i can be like okay. Only god can judge me. And jesus and i guess you know. Vince mcmahon can judge me as well i guess certain aspects of things in my life like that type of stuff that thing is nick so okay so connor just only god can judge a man people on the internet the okay jesus you do forgive people on the internet you know you have to let them know because they would not let call.

Oh let's go over here and then just boom the next second. They're in a different part of the city and they're gonna shut out with the rigor. Yeah those at the end. They were like all right. Can't and this thing and they just. Boom maxine started yeah. There's a lot of what. I think you brought up a lipsius cuts ryan. You introduced that term in my life. Oh yeah there's a lot of those skips fucking whatever man. These people are here now. It doesn't matter right. There was no transition. There's these lipsey lipsius. Where dot dot dot. Something something has elapsed but there's no soft or soft out like it just happens. This really how i felt with this guy's remember that alligators seen i'll insanely released. That was the weird savage sewer rats like. They're a some kind of derived it yet. I can't talk to them. They talk funny like thank you jas. What's you can talk to literally any other animal including rats these like quote unquote tribal rats. That they put into the movie. And then 'cause this precipitates this is that he's taught like charlie's talked about how he's gonna kill car face and the floor drops out. They get captured by these rats. They're in cages in this king. Alligator shows up. Who can talk to the dog. Yes yeah all. Inter species voiced a mess man. The alligator eats the dog. But then charlie lets out a yelp. That's like such brilliant falsetto the alligators like. I can't eat a singer and he breaks off into a musical number about how they should make music together in scene. What though so out of place. Like i had a pause the movie and just think about like okay. How did i get to this point. Does this desert-like allusion to alligators earlier. Like anything what might have happened was at the end of the movie. Spoilers are face gets eaten by the alligator right car. Face captures charlie and the kid in car face. Charlie like screams alligator. Here's the beautiful sound alligator shows up destroys the entire place and east scarface. Dad's montana yeah..

If if you can write a two chord song that is compelling than your genius man. What's what's the least amount of chords. That should be on a song zero well. I like some like drone means. Kelly one though. Yeah it's probably one. Zero is probably. You can't write a song that way your although there's that cool jeff buckley record. That's just stomping and clapping that one song. Oh i don't know that one it's cool. Is that the year husband beer husband. Okay no be your your husband. That's what i want you to my wife. The beer has would you like a beer every fifteen minutes. It can't believe it's not better record. It's pretty good. I liked it. I think it's great he but he wouldn't let you. What's his deal. He he can take a joke but he's serious about such weird she titles titles are serious. Titles i mean when he was a kid all the bright songs have like a lipsius and stuff in love song and then in parentheses. It'll be like a cold. Whatever it's interesting the types of titles that people give song like my friend. And i used to talk about new order. Titles versus pet shop boys titles so like new order titles are like regret and then touch. How boys are you only. Tell me you love me. When you're drunk you i love. I love that shit. I love i love it i love thank you every single time. You say please. Let's get a clean. I love song. Titles that aren't in the song. But i hate them as a music fan. Oh i say because you're trying to look at the song is your come on like i just gave you five of the lyrics that are in the song and then it's none of them right. That's annoying that's annoying but like your songs. Kyoto for instance you ever go to kyoto. Oh yeah you sleep on a right yukon. No is that the boat. No flat mattress. The you go into the places they serve you. The ten course sleep on the places. Yeah yeah okay you but you never slept. What'd you sleep on like elevated. It'll add a beautiful hotel really. How comfortable is that matt awesome. Okay great bridges is here yes. Punisher is out right now. Came out during the pan during the demi and could've could've saved it but could have waited until it was all over but instead you put it out in that was probably a good A strategy although you know artisan about strategy but it was You know got you got you grammy nom. Did you win the grammy. Okay remember loser. Loser wartime grammy loser. God that's gotta sting. You wish you would just been nominated once and lost the one loser over and over again. I think the force cooler honestly. You're you think you'll get back up there. I don't know it's hard to say it's a ton of grammy's like here's what you do be like obama and just like narrate a book one day totally and you win one for that for. That would've mainly spoken word album. Yeah exactly or just like some kids lake. They give grammy's for the stupidest things so just do one of those dumb things and then you got one totally yeah. I'm trying to think of like the stupidest grammy ever there. Well i mean you know you don't want to cross county grammy's he probably does. I hope so i. Do you want to win something. That kid rock is one already. You know what i mean. Kind of yeah. i think. That's that's every problem about me. That i could even do. You just want to follow in the footsteps of kid rock kind of does he become adult rock. I'm working on my say now that everything's opening back up again to working well. Phoebe bridges the reunion. Tour is This week starting up again. You'll be out there in chicago. Pitchfork fest stand anywhere where music has heard. Yeah yeah the greek and l. a. the greek. That'd be fun. What days at twenty. One wanted twenty two member of october of october so approximately ten nine days before halloween. Is that scary. When i think about it i fail. A maf- yes super spooky right. Oh by the way speaking of spooky you bring it up those that skeleton costume for this tour. Oh yeah because people if they come in there like she didn't have the skeleton thing they see. You know what i mean. They'll be disappointed right. Yeah but it's the weirdest part about this experience as you put out a record normally and you just immediately are on tour right and so it's been it'll have been two years since we played a show when we start playing and I've also been wearing a skeleton costume like every day of my life for two years and is it the same one or is it. "We've got nancy on the line in cambridge. Nancy you are on with doctors. Assume in toronto. Had with your question high great So we are having a small family gathering this weekend. Not at my house and cambridge but western math One of the two people who lives in that house has not been vaccinated The other person who lives in that house has been vaccinated and the other four people who were going have been vaccinated so so one out of the six is not vaccinated. The party was going to be outdoors in the afternoon Do any of us have to wear masks. You know the person you know. What about the person who hasn't been vaccinated. What if we Stays more than six feet away from her again. It's going to be outdoors What have we have to go inside to use the bathroom Just wondering okay. nancy. Thanks dr asumu. Would you help nancy please. So this is a great question. As we all trying to navigate The new lives that we're living now so number one. I really liked the idea that most of the festivities activities going to be outside outside is very safe. And if you're outside vaccine or not vaccinate with know that it is safe and you do not need to be wearing a mask. The second point i would like to make is navy trying to understand what that person is vaccinated and maybe trying to encourage them to get backs needed and terms of what to do outside. You know what if what we use chief a inside site what we usually think about is the risk of To getting severe disease to the person is not vaccinated so let's take the example of lipsius grandparent. Who goes to visit a household where they're visiting their grandchildren and the grandchildren are louis forgetting severe infection so not particularly case even though it is indoors and if everyone is vaccinated it is safe for the grandparents to be in the house Without a mask with the grandchildren because the children are less likely to get Severe covid nineteen if they were to be infected so so i guess to answer your question. It would all depend on the risk of that person get infected if they have severe covid so if they have commodities if they're older then in that particular case we may recommend for people to be masks to tag that person but in general if that person marlow word square for child being in everyone is vaccinated than even if it is endorsed. It would be relatively safe. So i'm going to ask thank you. Dr suman dr doron. I'm going to ask a follow up question to you from there. I mindful that nancy's question underscores. It's still confusing to know what's safe and what's not dr. Seuss just gave us a very good outline their. I know over the last few weeks. I've heard you a number of places. Dr doron trying to help provide that clarity as well by talking about okay. Here's what i feel safe doing. And why how do we get to a point where we have public clarity on what is safe. And what's not. Is that a matter of time or is there something different. We need to be doing to make sure we all really understand in are confident. I can do this. I shouldn't do that. It's so hard because everyone's definition of safe is different and the degree of risk that everyone is willing to take is different. And what's important. What everyone's priorities are are different You might say. I really really miss these family members and i'm going to visit them even though they're not accelerated And that is that is..

Since the coup in february karan insurgents have been some of the staunchest supporters of the pro democracy movement. Even harboring activists fleeing the military's brutal crackdown in towns and cities. There are also reports that they've been helping to train members of a new defence force. The korean people are not the only ethnic group to renew their long battle against the military in the borderlands in the north and east along the frontiers with china laos india. All their armed ethnic organizations have decided to take on the agenda once more. Its leader gentlemen. Online is powerful but he's currently fighting on many fronts. Telling this story is challenging. My team can't get into me and mar and even getting close to the border took to dis. The thai villagers decided to take they are in their truck and i couldn't understand why they would all piling into the vehicle with pickaxes and shovels. But soon a became abundantly clear. The road would have to be rebuilt along the way now. I use the term road listlessly. It wasn't parts a creek bed elsewhere. The river was so deep we could see the heads of water buffalo as the wallowed and yet our driver said he'd made this many tames. We were being sean. What it takes to live in this difficult but beautiful terrain where flash floods had washed away. The dude jump out and arrange walks to a rough path in order to carry on as we go close to the border we saw the counts of scattered families late. Eighteenth fires to make dinner. I assumed that all fled from myanmar. But no these were thai villagers and they would also too scared to stay in their homes near the border. Due to the intensity of the fighting a stray bullet had made across the salween river which separates the two countries. The village chief also claimed that some shrapnel from a bomb had landed on a roof he said this was the worst fighting he'd experienced in seventy years before long. We heard gunfire across the river. Then came the load boom of mortar fire. Chief thought it would be safer if we stayed in. One of the abandoned houses soon became clear. Why the villagers had fled all night nine pm eleven pm. Three am four am came the sound of heavy clashes. The fating may be in another country but it feels close people. Living on both sides of the border have been caught in the crossfire. In the morning we had to leave. The tirtha. ortiz are reluctant to let press near the border. They've been criticized in the past for turning away karan refugees fleeing from myanmar when we were discovered we would escorted out of the year. But we were told that food and medicine had been given to those who need it. My team and i left knowing we'd seen just a small snapshot of the crisis in myanmar. Since then many of the karen refugees have crossed back over the border determined to defy the military much like the millions of people in towns and cities still determined to restore democracy. And although the villagers i met will attempt to rebuild their homes. Few believe the fighting will end anytime soon. No rubicon a collective howl of outrages a rare thing across nations but the diversion of orion f- flight headed towards lithuania to belarus has caused a proper storm a report of a bomb threat so the plane land straight away in minsk where it became obvious that the real target was a young critic. That came out in august of two thousand nineteen and the creator of that is a new york times writer named nicole hannah jones and she presumably thought up this thing and she wrote the lead essay and so the issue contains her essay. Which has a number of gross distortions of history. Just like howard zinn does they also contains other articles and poems and photographs and the argument behind. It is that the first arrival of slaves here. Who stayed is really the founding of the country and that the words in the declaration of independence and the constitution really had no meaning until you know black. Americans lead the way and showed white america how to really implement those ideals and make them real which is a term that she is that also is a marxist view. She has expressed her admiration for fidel castro. A lot of what she writes in tweets is marxist in orientation the on the only like this clip. mohan. I've done a whole episode on the sixteen nineteen project but i but i really just too bad she says. Or the guy. Says you're going to debunk this. We just went through excoriating people for using that word. There needs to be a better word for what she's doing. Disprove perhaps discredited she uses debunk intertidal. So hard to like. It never bothers me a couple more clips. You wanna listen to interest. He is on columbus. Is kind of interesting oh yes columbus. And by the way that the writer producer sent me about using any of her stuff because it was predated material. Let's better. I still see his in book as the one. That's most coincident with the columbus hatred. Because i don't remember when i was a kid. No no no columbus. Hey this is something of the past ten fifteen years this is. I think it started in one thousand nine hundred forty years ago. Shoot man. I know i mean what i was in new york All the way up through two thousand. And i don't i live near columbus circle so it just i think for the west coast it could be. I still remember seeing anti columbus art at amsterdam. Art in berkeley and i can almost. I'm trying. I can't quite get the date when i saw ours. It's your own little time capsule up there. I'm sure anyway. Let's hear what she has to say because this is this is such a touch judge blunk in my own explorations. I ran across the phrase. They would make fine servants talking about the indians with fifty man. We could subjugate the mall. Make them do whatever we want. I read that over and over again before ever knew about howard zinn before ever saw your book before ever saw your article on the web and so you see this over and over again and you think wow. Is this really what christopher columbus wrote in his log. That's pretty damning. Yeah well that's where you've got the lipsius and let's see you know is if you can remember from your writing courses is yeah those three or four dots and we know that they're there. If you just simply want to shorten a quotation and the words that you leave out do not change the fundamental meanings and at the most you know if you have those four lip sees. It's a sentence or two while what howard zinn leaves out is pages. Two days worth blog entries between those. And so he's leaving out. Critical information and passages. Say i believe that we can convert them to our christian faith more by love than by force. You know howard. Zinn doesn't want the reader to know. The christopher columbus wanted to convert by love that would upset the propagandistic line that he is promoting so he deceptively quotes that way and people will still. I mean it's very sad. They will quote howard zinn quoting columbus and they will say see. This is right from his log. You know. I got into debate with a columnist at the new haven newspaper and even when i told him that what he was quote he had just discovered howard zinn and wrote this column for columbus day. Said look you know. This is what he left out. He didn't believe me he said no. This is.

"The earliest known record of pigeons is in the fifth egyptian dynasty about three thousand. B c as was pointed out to me by professor lipsius but mr birch informs me that pigeons are given in a bill of fare in the previous dynasty in the time of the room ins as we hear from plenty immense prices were given for nee come to this pass that they can reckon up their pedigree and race. Pigeons were much valued by october con in india around the year. Sixteen hundred nevertheless than twenty thousand. Pigeons were taken with the court. The monarchs of iran and turon sent him some very rare birds and continues the courtly historian his majesty by crossing the breeds which method was never practiced before has improved them astonishingly about this same period. The dutch were as eager about pigeons. As were they old romans. The paramount importance of these considerations in explaining the mets amount of variation. Which pigeons have undergone will be obvious when we treat of selection. We shall then also see how it is that the breeds so often have a somewhat monstrous character. It is also a most favorable circumstance for the production of distinct breeds that male and female pigeons can be easily mated for life and thus different breeds can be kept in the same aviary. I have discussed the probable origin of domestic pigeons at some yet quite insufficient length. Because when i i kept pigeons and watched the several kinds knowing well true they bred. I felt fully as much difficulty in believing that they could ever have descended from a common parent has any naturalist code in coming to a similar conclusion. In regard to the many species of finches or other large groups of birds in nature one circumstance has struck me much namely that all the breeders of the various domestic animals. And the cultivators of plants. With whom i have ever conversed or whose treatises i have read are firmly convinced that the several breeds to which each has attended are descended from so many aba originally distinct species ask as i have asked a celebrated reeser of offered cattle whether his cattle might not have descended from longhorns and he will laugh you scorn i have never met a pigeon or poll tree or duck or rabbit fancier who was not fully convinced that each main breed was descended from a distinct species van mons in his treatise on pears and apples shows how utterly hit disbelieves that the several sorts. For instance a ripston pippen or cod inland apple could have preceded from the seeds of the same tree innumerable other examples could be given the explanation. I think is simple from long continued study. They are strongly impressed with the differences between the several races and though they will now that each race very slightly for they win their prizes by selecting such slight differences yet. They ignore all general arguments and refused to sum up in their minds. Slight differences accumulated during many successive generations..
