"Going to change in the short run. But what it does is it changes the dynamics of investing. If you are an LP, a traditional LP like Yale University is endowment or maybe Harvard is a better example. Or California state teacher's retirement system. You used to be big enough and powerful enough to dictate the terms of a fund. You could wield influence such that you were kind of like running a creditors committee, right? You were the powerful seat at the table, not any longer. That's the Middle East. They decide what the terms are going to be. And so instead, for example, the Californians, presumably if you're a pension fund, you want to chip away at fees. No, what the Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds are interested in is co investing. They're not so worried about the fees. They want to have a piece of the action because they've got so much money. They need to find other opportunities to deploy it. And it's changing the dynamics of being an LP. Is there any, you know, obviously the Khashoggi incident set the Saudis back a little bit in terms of international relations. That seems to have been mended now. Is there any concern in that? I sure hope it hasn't been forgotten, but yes, I would agree the time has to a large degree. Heal that wound. The Saudis began the convenings in the Middle East with the future investment initiative back in 2017, and it was shortly thereafter that Khashoggi, and there were all these questions about who would go back to Saudi Arabia. Well, the reality is they're not only going back to Riyadh for the FII in October. The public investment fund, the Saudi sovereign wealth fund decided two months ago to convene an event in Miami of all places and people went there to see the Saudis. So they have money talks. They have convening power. The qataris have convening power, milk and dozen event out there. It's a thing, but I don't want to live golf. Nope. And that's for actually, I'm glad you brought that up because it's not just about the money. The Saudis and other Middle Eastern pools of capital are very much in the sports business, right? They're now investing in soccer players. They brought christiano Ronaldo over to the Saudi league and they're talking to lino Messi about as much as $400 million a year to play Saudi soccer. It's good. They were in talks earlier this year or late last year that ended up going nowhere, but to buy Formula One for $20 billion. I'm gonna watch that. They are players. You know, the royal family in Abu Dhabi owns Manchester City or controls Manchester City in the Premier League. You've got the PIF again, the public investment fund of Saudi Arabia that owns Newcastle. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that we're going to see in a not very long span of time much more of this. I'll tell you what, the only reason you won't watch Liv golf is because the PGA still exists, right? If that had worked and lived golf had become probably the main event. You would be watching Liv golf. Yeah. Yeah, probably, but it's the Saudi Arabia 9 11 thing done. Not even a shot there. So let's just see. But you guys are going to think these guys are going to be breaking news. What's happening, and by the way, we've lost a little bit of focus. The Qatar economic forum powered by Bloomberg is an amazing event. I can tell you what I'm going to be doing. I'm going to be talking to Steve Mnuchin, the former treasury secretary, and I'll be interviewing Robert friedland of ivanhoe about the critical ingredients to the energy transition, which is something that he has a lot to say. Very cool. Also looking forward to hear what Dave Calhoun has to say the CEO Bowen he'll be there as well, Steve schwarzman. So Eric, thanks very much for coming in, Eric. "There is a difference between having a net worth of 50 million. Where you're extremely rich. Having a net worth north of 200 million. It really is a massive difference. If you're not worth it 50 million, you're not flying private all the time. 20 million, you really move the needle. Once you've reached that level, part of the reason you have all this money is you get to do what you want to do. So my question is, does he want to go to alkyl? Is that what he wants? You know, and money shouldn't come into it. Because you're going to retire at some point, it's on the horizon, right? So make this these last years. Maybe it isn't generally on me, but this idea that John Garber has the tie himself into knots. So he can make the deal financially attractive to lino Messi. For me, I would say, messy, you meet all your money. You come here, you get exposure, you get to make as much money commercially as you want because you're in a big market. And you help take MLS to the next level. We'll pay you whatever we can pay you. It's not going to move the needle. I think that that's what I would do. Yeah, yeah. And I don't just challenge him with it. And if you'd rather go to Saudi, go to Saudi. You know why, because you know people, people in Saudi. Aren't stupid. Saudi has a pretty serious football league already, with a lot of passionate fans. These people are educated about football. They know that christiano coming at his age isn't like this channel coming ten years ago. And then you know that messy coming, they don't none of them believe that messing christiano are there because they've suddenly become massive proponents of the Saudi project and they want to nobody believes this. It is a big artifice and we saw this. We see this all the time. We saw it in MLA. Was that in the Premier League? When you started bringing all these friendly suddenly had money in the mid 90s and they brought in big aging stars from elsewhere because they're only here for the money, right? That's not how you sell and build. No. And so I think you also have to think about that. How realistic and how solid is this part? I mean, the MBS wakes up tomorrow and says, eh. This is stupid. Face fire. One year. It's one year. How do you know it's one year? I mean, maybe two maximum. They would not give me more than a two year deal. And I think the current offer is a two year deal anyway. Like christiano had a two year deal. So, but I think that in tamami, I need such a strong position now. Massively. And that's what Don Garber who's a really smart guy. I think that whatever they're doing right now in New York in the offices and in Miami, just get the best deck possible. The best PowerPoint you've ever made in your life. And just with the best advantages that you can, maybe it doesn't have to be a 100 million a year, but maybe it could be shares in something pre agreed, partnership with big U.S. brands. I don't care anyway, like a active career in Hollywood after I don't care. But right now, bossa and nowhere near nowhere near being able to offer message anything and still be okay with La Liga financial fair play. All of that, because as you said, it depends a lot on who they say and Casey and so they're there, but they're not really there. PSG are gone. Al hilal and the Saudis are just like you said, it's a project. It's concrete because they have enough on the table for the Mexican based Saudi Arabia and if you into Miami and MLS, you are a very different project, but you could be in a way more attractive football wise, maybe then the Saudi league. So I think that into Miami, I've never had I've never been in a stronger position than they are now to try little message to MLS in the U.S. and et cetera et cetera. You know, I think and I hope that somebody else will come out of the woodwork. And again, I go back to the romantic aspect of it. I'm sorry. It was not Lionel Messi. He played until he was older than Messi. At Roma. Blah, blah, blah. He had office, he had offers, obviously mid table teams, but in the Premier League and whatever. And he said, I've only got so much time left. I'm going to go play for Boca for Boca juniors. Because I think for him, personally, it was. Because he wasn't a success on the pitch because he didn't play great and he was older and whatever. But he went there, he made almost nothing. Yeah, right? But he says, I got to play a little more than a book on juniors. I fulfilled. When I was a kid, when I was a kid, in addition, obviously, to playing for Italy and playing for Roma, right? Those were my shirts. The other one, I love the shirt. Diego mando made a shirt, right? Maybe missing this or not, that kind of dream. Maybe he doesn't, maybe he fulfilled it with Barcelona. And now he doesn't have to go anywhere else. And maybe rosalia is not just going back there. It's not right now where you want. I don't know. But I don't know. I just find this. This is why it's not going to tarnish his legacy because of what he's achieved as a player, right? But I think it speaks to this idea that when footballers reach this level, the people around them who it's almost like you're exploiting some kind of iron ore or gold mine and you need to squeeze as much as you can for as long as you can out of it. Yeah. And that is frankly what I find what I find really, really depressing. About this whole thing and pretty unseemly. I had a couple more things I bring down here just because we're on the Paris Saint-Germain question. Yeah. Why does poor Neymar get picked on now as well? He's an injured for a long time. There's your points. There's videos of people outside Neymar's house. Was he there? He was there, huh? Why are they annoying? Just saying this so angry now because why don't they go to Nasser's house? So they don't know where he lives. Yeah, I mean, he was 9 Paris. So they went to the PhD offices in Boulogne where neither Nasser was there always composed organ and they had a big protest outside there. I think we're singing not nice things about messy. Yeah, and Messi may see was heavily insulted or criticized, and that's why the whole Iraqi or the club and the ultra was asking for all of them to go, including Nasser Haley. And then some of them went to bougival where Neymar lives outside his house to sing like basically get the to put it that way or F off if you want whatever translation you want to use. What was he there? He's injured. Yeah, in recovery. I just thought. I mean, I don't know, he put out on his own social media, they've just left the world outside my door. They've just left. Which is not nice. And I can understand, you know, relationship between Neymar and the intrusion has been.

"I think the rapids should have gone after him or something like that. I think he could be really good. But he made Atlanta worse because he clogged up where Thiago almada and he didn't make the runs that he needed to make. And it was a serious soccer club move to be like, okay, we're going to take the L we're going to eat the contract to a certain degree on this. So that we could open up a DP slot and bring in a striker like Yakima. And get a left winger like either Etienne or Caleb Wiley out there who don't need the ball who can stretch the field and who could be forced magnifiers for the force magnifier. You guys are really over indexed though. This is coming up sway exactly. All right, let's look ahead of the summer. Doobie asks us to preview the big potential big summer signings and yes, talk about messy just a little bit, but don't dwell on it. Dustin asked who thorington might target for a summer DP move and I also know you have some stuff on seafood in a poku, so if you want to hit that, you can and maybe get your big picture thoughts on the summer window that is a ways away, but of course teams are preparing. Yeah, I mean, Messi's got to be the first mention it'd be disingenuous or not. We'll see if that goes down. Miami have been positive, the reports that came out of Europe in December claiming that it was all agreed for him to stay at PSG. Those have been backtracked pretty heavily. We move on those. Yeah, so again, from what I had heard from around that time, everybody's very confident and some of the phrases I've heard from a lot of people run league is it's when not if. And I know Miami are positioning it to messy as it's got to be now. Hey, this deal's not going to be on the table. It's only this summer. It's a specialty all this stuff. So I don't know. We'll see. I'm very hopeful, even just taking my fan hat on to be phenomenal to have him in the league, so you have any start to talk about the summer transfer window that is in starting with lino Messi is disingenuous. But I'll keep it quick here with all these Jose sifuentes. He's out of contract after the season. There is a

But first the toast. I want to raise my third first bud of the day. To news out of the fast upcoming World Cup, the FIFA is musing, scrapping its own terror, terrible idea, or is that redundant when talking about FIFA at this point, you may remember the listeners, they were planning to have visits, Saudi Arabia, be an official sponsor of the Women's World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand, but there's been a ferocious response from the co host Australia and New Zealand who clearly a PD fortune to have the tournament be about not visit Saudi Arabia, but visit bloody Australia and New Zealand maybe, as well as some of the highest profile players in the women's game, including Alex Morgan. FIFA always about the money, never about the value, is managing to prove it has absolutely none of the format in its pursuit of the latter. This is the time when the tensions in the women's game risk undermining the World Cup before ball's been kicked speed France and the Canadians women's players are amongst those are logged ahead. It's called between their desire to fight for equality and respect and safety against their own federation to in their very different ways are not providing one or all of them to better days ahead for all of these women. And by better days, honestly, sometimes think FIFA is only going to change when there are more women in power across football bureaucracy. And I'm not just saying this because it's international women's day. This is an every day is international women's day issue. Oh, to that happening. To the football, we have just witnessed on CBS proper Bayern defenestrate PSG, star studded night in Germany, Bayern versus Paris Saint-Germain, and showcasing some of the biggest names in world football and by that I mean ray Hudson. Oh, it was a joy to hear ray ray lino Messi also playing and his team needing a goal, PSG, honestly. First half made a confident festival. It was nip and Turk was really buying charge forward on camp couping admirably. This is iron conceived goal in the first half of a Champions League get more which did here, approaching half time January summer tried to win a Manuel truly out of the area. He just said, remember he's just playing so much. He decided to carry the oath of carry roll up ball home, but the impressive slitting to save the day screaming to the nettie to prevented the ball from rolling into set off Bayern ratcheted up their intensity, the intensity would have been lacking really in that first 45. First, she promoting had a header in the back of the neck, but it was ruled out by var for a late Muller lunge, he hadn't made contact but was deemed to be interfering, but within 9 minutes, tuper moting when E equals CM squared or something like that, lashing home after variety was dispossessed, great work from Mueller and Gretzky, the giant cameroonian chupa. You have no one in England constantly as a joke at stoke. How he roared. As you so often has this season of cheaper renaissance at the highest level, we talked about the trooper moating story in depth on Tuesday in European nights with the great Rory Smith, find that podcast after watching super meeting tonight. His journey is humanly a wonder story to behold and watching him seize his moment after seasons of patience. It's just God lifts the spirit, sends them soaring. The night of blah quality wise if we're being honest, not the clash of Titans, we'd hope for PSG and then bap a and Messi, X essentially two of the 12 one would say, what are they really doing? A last 16 exit in the Champions League for the 5th time in 7 years PSG, all that money, all that ego, all those empty calories. And what does Mbappé do now? If he wants to fulfill his potential, what does Lionel messy do now? How long does he want to stay? Amidst all that artificiality. When the MLS is ready to unfurl and dispatch a fleet of bank trucks towards the messy family and bringing his talents to play under Phil Neville's giant tactical brain, was that Messi's final Champions League game? Never interesting days, PSG who have claps so epically. So often in the Champions League, couldn't even muster an epic collapse on this night. And it was genuinely hard to watch as surgeon aburi finished the game off at the death finishing a counter, which was according to ray Hudson, small zamboni, gutting PSG like a fresh fish buying two clean sheets against PSG, 8 wins out of 8 in the champion Z campaign so far who would face them. Another damp squib of a game at Tottenham. Hosting A.C. Milan, team who had lost their last three games in London by in aggregate score of 9 one, but spurs really symbolized by their manager a weary fatigued Antonio Conte finally back on the sideline after serious gallbladder surgery. But I say, I feel for him, Conte, remember, recently the last three close friends, Jean Pierre venturi, and Tennessee mihaljevic to leukemia, Jean Lucca villi to pancreatic cancer, what that can do to a human being at the same time as he has done to go, his experience, gallbladder surgery, physically, mentally, it must be grueling. What he has left in the tank I do not know from a footballing perspective, how are you feeling spurs fans after a game? Which was really an isil. The stadium was silenced. Not by Milan, but really, by the lackluster performance of spurs, they needed a goal, they barely made a dent. A lack of urgency spares. Honestly, dreadful. The highlight are low light, a second yellow card by Christian Romero, who did what it says on the tin, lunging recklessly into teo Hernandez. Ramirez, Jen is a total ball and not a good way in the words of T.S. Eliot. I don't know if he was a spurs fan. But my lord, when you read his poetry, he sounds like a spurs fan. This is how the Tottenham's Champions League quest ends. Not with a bang, but with a wimp up season.
