The distance from Lake Powell to Lake mead is nothing but grim, some 290 miles. They're living it in the southwest. They're talking about it in Washington, Henry hardens joins us now on our new climate change frenzy. Emory, it is so new in Washington and is so today. It is so this morning. I guess the president's going to say someone think about it. People out in the southwest are going, are you kidding? Tell us the character and quality of the jaw boning today on climate change. Yeah, he's going to be talking about a northeast actually, Tom and Somerset, Massachusetts at an old coal fire power plant used to be one of the biggest in the northeast and it's now a hub for some of these cables that are going to be needed for more than dozens of wind farms in the northeast and the president is going to say climate change is an existential threat. He's going to talk about some of the executive action directing some funds to some of these communities that are hard hit by climate change, but he's going to stop at an emergency decree. And this is right now at The White House is weighing whether or not they should go as far as an emergency decree. If you look at The New York Times today, one of their main stories is a heat index 80 million Americans about 28% in continuous United States is living in heat levels that are not normal. This is a moment he can speak to whether or not it's the United States or the southern France, what's happening in Athens, there's obviously a moment he could speak to that may resonate with directorate. Emery, you look cool calm and collected after Jetta. I mean, everything is relative. What I would suggest to Anne Marie is everybody's going to trot out the same old same old on climate change. And what it comes down to for conservatives is the arch fear that climate change will diminish growth. What's the pushback from The White House? Well, the president will talk about the fact that climate change does the opposite in his sense or fighting climate change, I should say, because it is an avenue for new jobs and for the most part, a lot of renewable jobs are very much so higher paid jobs. So the president will use that as a way that this is not going to be hindering in growth. But when you look back or you think about

"Back to the show well back with music. Legend don mclean. Got a book zine. We'll talk about american pie. Fiftieth anniversary and got some live dates coming up. Sierra vista zona veterans memorial park and henderson nevada green valley ranch grand event center. That's coming up. I one september eleventh second is september seventeenth and for more dates. You can go to this website. Don mclean dot com. Dan thank you nice to be here. So we're talking about it before you came on and we're trying to figure out whether madonna's version of american pie annoyed you or your so happy with the income or if even got income off that and how does that work well. I don't really what i thought was that Madonna's probably as big as elvis and. She never does anybody else's song. So wow you know she's gonna do that. And then but i've been hearing about this movie that she was going to make the next best thing for about a year People at universal would say what she's thinking of doing the song and the movie and the movie was on. The movie was off and finally they said well the movies on so i said that's great so they had to license the song and then they had it. I think two or three times in that movie and then she in by the way she's going to release it as a single so you can imagine it was. It was a lot of fun to hear this and and to see it all happen and but she she gets quite a bit of abuse. I i noticed From everybody. And i'm i'm very very thankful that she she did my song and and happy. I think the difference is you get paid to listen to that song. And so i think that's where the irony comes from Yes that's probably right. I also. I always enjoyed vincent slash stars starting. I thought that was one of the most beautiful songs Ever written i thank you. I've felt Have that up there with Linda ron stats gonna love you for a long long time. In terms of this sort of how poetic it is very much literally will want you will. It will bring you to tears by the end. Well stuff comes from you know nobody nobody. You can't lie about this. These songs come from a lot of pain of one sort or another and you know you figure out how to overcome a lot of that and channel it into into music and then sometimes you make things that make you happy and in order to make you feel better but Music is definitely therapy. Writing songs is a form of therapy. I suppose like being a comedian. In a way i mean comedians. Make you laugh but most of them are pretty miserable and they have a lot of pain the way our yeah and so and i love comedians. I love lenny. Bruce and all that stuff and he's my favorite. I think he'd have a big chance being on campus today right. i don't think he would. I don't think he would play Stanford these days unbelievable it is. It is especially because it comes from a group that always talks about free speech and free expression but they don't wanna welcome any voices onto the campus. That are different than their own which i hope to at some point. They're embarrassed in their later years. But territory and a effort. I concur and a point not to Take a turn for the political. But i think the big problem is if you just sort of step back and what's the whole kind of gestalt of the whole thing. The students are students essentially kids their students. It's the faculty who are the adults and they need to make adult decisions and the faculty can't just bend to the wam of the nineteen year olds who grew up in a in a bubble with a silver spoon and always got their way. They need to be the adults on the campus. And they need to essentially say hey lunatics. You can't run the asylum. If i think it's even more than that. I think that the corporations have us college now. Is there Farm team you not to raise the corporate people you know who are careful about everything they say and do and and fit into this corporate structure. I mean i went to a little little college in noor shell coal iona college and it was basically a day school and if and and it was taught by Irish christian brothers and we had we had h rap brown and we had all sorts of people on campus giving speeches. Who were you. A lot of the people in this campus didn't agree with but the idea was that you know it's an open forum. We had All e came with howard. Cosell and robert kennedy was just a short distance from new york city. So they pop up there and speak to us and we it'd be thousand people out there. I saw so many interesting points of view being expressed. But i just can't believe the way it is now because i grew into show business playing colleges. That's what i did. I played hundreds and hundreds of them and we had plenty of bomb. Scares back in the ninth late nineteen sixties and plenty of all sorts of other threats. And this and that but you know but the vector moved forward. You know as you had one side saying one thing one side saying another and then you you figure out whether an idea is gonna fly. Is it really have any good points in. I knew many people blacklisted in the one thousand nine hundred fifty s and that was interesting. Because then you had america acting like a communist country which mccarthyism basically America was suddenly acting like a communist country. We don't like that idea that we're going to make it illegal and stamp it out rather than have the intellectual in the american idea which was talk it out. Let's see see if it has any points that are interesting. You know well you know. Here's an interesting comparison. So we're talking about this before you came on talking about some of the new data. That's coming out in terms of diversity as it pertains to your immune system that you need to expose yourself through all these different germs and elements and stuff. Kids have a much stronger. Immune system because they've exposed themselves to all this diversity of floor and fatah and then obviously your system is hurt when you're covered repair al and you never leave the apartment. I would say the same thing. Psychologically we're not helping these nineteen year olds by not letting them here diversity of opinions. You like that right assessing about it. Give me that's that's the way of song gets written is like that when you make that kind of obscure but very accurate comparison gets written but well let's let me. I'll tell dawson to do it. Let let's talk about american pie because it's such a huge part of my childhood. Wow i wrote. So here's a bygone era. Probably but as a young person with a sense of humor there are two things we do. We used to make prank phone calls. Oh yeah that's a bygone era but this is when you're fourteen or fifteen and you have this sense of humor inside you percolating and you don't know what to do with it comes a prank phone calls but also comes out in the form of weird al saw.

One half of the pioneering Everly Brothers. I mean, you you talk about an artist that had an influence on a generation of rock and roll music. The Everly Brothers, their harmonies. They had a cunt, You know, they had kind of Country rock hits They were really one of the first bands. At least in my estimation, there had really kind of country is kind of rockets. Although I really wouldn't you know I wouldn't deem them necessarily country. But you know you had styles that eventually followed Linda Ron stat We talked about Don Hymel the Eagles, but it just influenced so many just a generation like is that Iraq and roll Don Everly passing away at his home in Nashville, Tennessee. That was on Saturday. His brother Phil died in, um 2014. And they're saying that God lived by what he felt in his heart. And expressed his appreciation for the ability to live his dreams. And of course he did just that. In the late 19 fifties 19 sixties, This duo of Don and Phil Everly drew upon their rural roots. Strummed guitars, you know, strumming the guitar. You know their harmonies. Poignant songs. Um So much different now and when, when it when it would be described as music at that time that embodied teenage restlessness and energy. Far cried different than what we hear now which, when we hear things that embody teenage restlessness and energy right there, 19 top 40 hits Ladies and gentlemen. Let me just say that again. But Just they had such a beautiful, beautiful her harmony. You know the way they sing together, and they were so influential. I did not know this, so they were there. They are considered the most successful Rock and Roll act to come out of Nashville in the fifties. That's where they're from. And don and his brother Phil, who died in 2014. They once rivaled Elvis Presley and Pat Boone for airplane placing an average of one single. In the top 10 every four months for four years. That's how many songs three months every month from 1957 to 1961 Wake up Little Susie and Kathy Clown Kathy's council a little Two minute teenage drama songs If you Will, the dual all but singlehandedly redefined what stylistically and thematically qualified as commercially viable music for the Nashville of their day. In the process, the influenced generations of Hit makers from British invasions, bands like the Hollies and the Beatles to, Um um Simon and Curve Uncle and the Eagles. Garfunkel's Girl phone calls and in 1975, Linda Ron said it had a top 10 single with a Her version of the Everly Brothers 1960 hit When will I be loved flight, which was their song, and, um, I like to a version better. Yeah. Big time. So great Song and Paul Simon in an interview with The New York Times after Phil Everly died group Phil and Dan were the most beautiful sounding Do I ever heard they were so pristine and so forth their voices. The Everlys were at the crossroads of country and R and B And they witnessed and were part of the birth of rock and roll and Bye Bye Love Was the brothers like first crossover? Uh, because it was on the country Chart R and B. Top 40 and then, um And then both brothers played a goose tick guitar. But don was considered the rhythmic innovator. But it was their vocal blend that really made them unbelievable. And don had the lower he's saying lead his brothers saying slightly higher and he's told the L A times. Shortly after his brother's death. It was almost like we could read each other's minds when we're saying But the brothers As the career progressed, the radio hits became scarcer as the 16 sixties were on. They both struggled with addictions, and a decade later after nearly 20 years on the road together. Things came to a head Phil Everly smashed his guitar stormed off stage during a performance at Knott's Berry Farm in California and 73. Leaving done to finish the song and say, I guess that we've broken up. And that was it. And that was it. And that was it. Did they ever talk again? Or will they do? Yeah. Just were done performing. They were just done. Yeah, There were 22 years apart. And yeah, that was it. And he's don't do that to me at the state. No, I won't. I wouldn't beyond the be on the ready. She just leaves the stage or if I just leave the stage anyway, they just I was playing some Everly Brothers in the double white today and Ah, they had some great songs. Yeah, really good And then On Saturday. Uh, another we lost another, um, legend. He also died in Nashville. 85 years old. Probably knew Don Everly Tom T Hall. Pick the songs. Christian did, uh, on a gentleman named understand of all was a and R, and between the two of them and me, and I'm thrown in my two cents up picked songs that they felt that Of Christian self, he'd be able to treat in a different way. Not You know, not overdo it, but I didn't want to do Carrie okey cover versions. Of the of the songs and so that died, or just a little bit. You know, a Gus almost celebrity news not to interrupt your salute to Mama's, but I'm assuming your mother's gonna be saluted all day by somebody A was shut your mouth. I mean, only good things, you know, because she's helped so many people through her lifetime. This weekend is the time for them to show that respect Your point, you know? Okay. You saved for your mama. Good recovery. All right. What do you got for us? So their own Nevel is retiring from tour in and I don't know if that affects many of you know, because he hadn't toured. You know, like most people hadn't in the last year, so, but this sounds like somebody we used to work with, he said. I love being out, you know, and doing the job singing, you know, and all that kind of stuff, but there is no more joy in travel. You know, he don't like to travel no more. It's just become very undesirable between the pandemic and being told he's 80 80 years old, you know and hell, they wrote the story up like they can't believe Aaron Neville at only 80 years ago. Want to stop traveling so much? I'm surprised He lasted this long getting out there and bouncing around all over the country, he said. You know, it's hard because they make a schedule up. And you gotta be over here at this place and you gotta be over there at that place. Hey, said Life's too short at this point. I don't want to spend it being hurried. Heard you, Aaron. I didn't Aaron Neville used to work a lot with what's her name? Linda. Ron Statham s. Oh, she's still on the road or what's up with her? No, She's medically unfit. No. Is that true? Yes. I'm sorry. If you don't believe me. When I tell you things you want to doubt your friends and co workers, But, yes, it's true. I was just surprised you so quickly knew the answer. You didn't even I thought everybody knew Linda Ronstadt was suffering. What happened to her? She has a problem medically, you know, medical problems like medically unfit for she can't sing. I thought you meant it was like a toilet thing or something like that. Well, I don't know what you're getting at. I didn't have our Webster. Your mother might be listening. Were Linda and Erica. Mama. Easy, Easy, buddy. Well, I'm not gonna defend you anymore. Where they ever a couple, Linda? No. And if you suggest that his wife will get up in your face, I have no notice, called. It might have happened on this radio show years ago. Is that true? You guys asked Aaron on the show. It's not true, Kitty. We all lie to you all day long. That's all we do is just just lied to your face. I'm not asking cause I don't believe you. I'm asking because I was hoping for more details to the story. What if what you say what, Like you more details about that? Because that's not how I talk about what you say. What if I? What if I came around? I told you how to talk. When it was kind of a Betty. Back in the day. Check it out. She's popping right through that sweater. Look at that. What is it that MILF they were singing about a while ago? He must have been a chilly day when they took that photo of Linda. We're just Northern California. She was a beautiful woman, though, for whatever it's worth, you know. So good for Aaron. If he did you know what I'm saying? Get it. Yeah, but his wife did not appreciate the suggestion. Now do they still live in Nolan? Do you think they could be hearing this right now? Because if that's the case, I immediately apologized for what I just said. Even in 80. He could hand you your I mean, Have you seen the size of that guy? Oh, yeah. Most people in that age could probably kick my ass because I wouldn't fight back. He probably had more fights before he was 12 and you had in your life where there is no doubt it because I'm a talker. I'm a lover and a runner. I got to get together with them. Go. That's true. I do have that. And then Aaron Neville another thing about him. He had a face tattoo before anybody did. Oh, yeah, we go way back with that tattoo. Because now, a lot of these guys in the rap seeing you got your post Malone's and stuff. They all got a face tattoo. But back in the day that wasn't his common and that no, never got a face for the jail, you know? He did. He got his when he was 16. It was a facial tattoo of a cross. And it's still there. As far as I know, Black Teardrop know his dad made him scrub it with a Brillo pad and some octagon soap. Ah, the skin came off, but the tattoo remained. Well. It is a dye is injected under the skin. What is Octagon soap? I don't know. It was just he's 80 so level stuff that was around back then I guess What is Octagon soap? That's a great question. It's just like a bar, so Oh, here it is. It's a very specific brand. Uh, boy, I never heard of it. And we're old. Well, they probably got rid of it because it makes your skin fall on him. But, you know, Hey, What do you know? Walmart dot coms. Got it. Well, now now we're selling soap for free. Something tells me they don't have it. If you go to walmart dot com, there's a picture. Look at that. There's a picture of a really old soap bar a minute says It's $75. I don't think they really have that. I don't think so either. I bet if you order that someone from the company calls and they go Oh, yeah, we just put that on the website is a joke. Nobody ever ordered it. How did you even find that honor? Maybe lava replaced it, love, you know, lava that was himself. Well, it wasn't as bad on your skin. You know what I'm saying? Off 866 I love W J Chase is on Hold chase. What did you call to tell us Brother? Hey, Green means, guys. I called to talk about the bullets. Do it. The Here in the Ville. They've been back for about a year and a half now. No, I thought he was talking about the back of the moment. No, that's a totally different place. Okay? No, Mr Kenneth Career is a complete rear of the haircut. Chase. Let me ask you a question. I was thinking about getting a rat tail just Just to piss off my wife. You think if I do that if I came over there to do the Oh, that laugh it up. Oh, yeah, you would. You would rock a rat tail, and I've actually thought about getting one myself. You two should grow one and have a little contest. I would I would do it. The only problem is I don't know if I'm patient enough. You have to grow your hair and then cut it right in that spot. I think when I was a kid, I remember a lot of kids that rat tails. You don't want to cut it in that spot. You want to not cut it in that spot so that it continues to grow. Got all the other hair around it. Can I get how a hair color described it poorly? Okay, But when I was a kid, you would grow rat tails. And then a joke that kids would play on other kids as they come up and they'd snippet during class. Oh, yeah, but the problem is, they give you those safety scissors that you haven't school. Oh, no, I used the pocket. I mean, the guys I knew you's fucking knows that with his well By whom? L. "In the early 1970 smog blanket in the Los Angeles sky. But the city below Ron Brownstein says, was in a creative turn that would reshape American society one level. It was just an incredible constellation of talent. But at a deeper level, I think the pop culture that was created mostly in L. A in the early 19 seventies was the bridge between ideas that it seemed insurrectionary during the 19 sixties and the mass American audience ideas like greater suspicion of authority in business and government, more autonomy for women changing relations between men and women changing out. It's about families and sex on more inclusion of marginalized groups. Brownstein is a veteran political reporter and analyst at CNN and the Atlantic in his new book, Rock Me on the Water. His focus turns to a particular time in place and how cultural change interacts with politics during the 19 sixties. The network's defiantly almost ignored everything that was happening around them. You know, I say in the book that Walter Cronkite would spend half an hour every night documenting all of the fissures opening in American society. And then CBS and the other two networks would spend the next 3.5 hours trying to erase that from from viewers minds. I mean, we were getting Beverly Hillbillies and Petty Co. Junction and Green Acres gun smoke was still on the air. The closest we got to Vietnam was Gomer Pyle and McHale's Navy, but really beginning around nine 18 70 directly in response to the fear of losing younger audiences. CBS in particular, reached the conclusion that it had to tear down the wall between the medium and the moment. 1974 the CBS Saturday night lineup included all in the family with It's generational class around bigoted patriarch Archie Bunker, the young, heroic vision of war in MASH. And the Mary Tyler Moore Show centered on a 30 something single professional woman, the same forces, Brownstein rights were changing the world of film with movies like Chinatown and Nashville that focused on the underbelly of American life. It's cynicism, corruption and violence. Along the way. He offers compelling individual stories like that of Linda Ron Stand Having people underestimate how much when Iran's that was spinning her wheels how difficult it was for her in the late sixties and early seventies, she had a vision in her head of bringing together rock and folk and country on even R and B in a new way, in a way that really didn't have any interceding on the radio and All the way through as she was trying to coalesce and collect and capture this sound. She had to convince men white men on every step of the way. And there was an awful lot of Don't you worry your pretty little head about it. It does need to be said that prepared you're talking about is really this is a white world. You think about popular culture in America today. Is far more diverse. There is no doubt I think that this early seventies period is when the door cracks open and you begin to see first the presentation in in in the medium itself, and so you get a good times and you get the Jefferson. Then you get assorted other shows that are putting African Americans front and center for the first time. But even as that door cracked open, and you are seeing more representation of those stories in front of the screen, the people who control those Stories were still predominantly men and white men at that, underlying it all the growing buying power of the baby boom generation, raising the question where the economics more powerful than the ideals Central question, right? I mean, the broad social revolution that the left side of the baby boom the people who fueled all those social movements of the sixties, wanted or anticipated never happened. But you know, popular culture is kind of like a leak. In your roof. That kind of seeps into the house. And even though there was a sense that some of these ideas were teamed, and there may be something to that there's no question that the country the way we lived. Our lives was different. After these ideas kind of cemented in popular culture, let us take whatever steps are necessary Key point throughout the link to politics. Has Bronstein points out. Richard Nixon won two elections amid the social upheaval of the late sixties and early seventies, one of their political weapons. Is canceled. Culture in this interplay continues in our own divided time. In some ways, he believes generational cultural change toward inclusiveness is more telling about the country's future than anyone election result. But any given moment there be an electoral majority, or at least a winning plurality that can be mobilized to say, all right, we're going to stop all this. What you can't do is actually stop it. I think that is the big lesson of the 19 seventies is that when when a new generation comes along with a different set of values, it is a almost impossible to stop that cultural change. And I think the same is true today. If you look at kind of the vision of inclusion, not only the acceptance but the celebration of difference that animates so much of the popular culture and that young people today I think that tells you more about what American society is going to look like in 10 years than analyzing the election returns in 20. It doesn't mean the left is always going to win elections by any means. But it does mean I think that there will be a more inclusive and tolerant vision of kind of who belongs in American society in a decade than there is today. All right. The book is rock me on the water. Ron Brownstein. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you, Jeff and such a terrific journalist Ron Brownstein. And that's the news hour for tonight. "And and I the last thing I think in, Leslie would agree. We want to do it well, I would say from the period itself is not convince anybody of anything. It's really to ask questions and hopefully watched series and you walk away Ask you more questions. Leslie. The idea of consciousness is sort of a buzzword in the UFO and paranormal worlds. These days, people would just spout out. Well, I think consciousness explains how these things might be interrelated. And you give me sort of. Ah, capitalization of what we know about consciousness now. And is that what moves on is a human consciousness? What moves on when our physical bodies die? That's a big question. I mean, I have to say as far as I'm aware, we really don't know very much about consciousness. As far as I understand it, at least the scientific community that philosophers will basically say we don't know what it is. You know, that's that's one of the interesting things is that I think when people argue that consciousness is created by the brain, and it's just a matter of neuron firing things, and then when the brain dies, there's nothing left. That's really more of a theory than a proven fact before I understand that, But you know, I'm not an expert on unconsciousness. I'm really not. But that's my perception is there are many scientists And we feature some of those in some of them in the series who takes the position that consciousness is not generated by the brain, but it's more like the brain is an antenna. And this consciousness is something much bigger than our physical brains. And that There are experiences people have that illustrate that fast if they can leave their bodies when they had when their brain is essentially dead, and they could go on a journey, and they can come back and talk about what they heard in the room, even though they had no capacity for hearing. They didn't have a brain. You know, you have to question what is how can consciousness he created by the brain if it functions when there is no brain. So I think there's a lot of rocket of questions like that. I don't think science nobody has really solved the mystery of consciousness on that level. You know some of the examples the stories that are told the personal narratives especially like the first episode that comes to mind this physician who's basically drowned in, uh South America. And she's underwater for 30 minutes or something like that. And then she's she's dead. She's gone on yet she wasn't you know that it kind of raised good goose bumps on your arms and get listen to the her because she's so credible and it's so emotional. Same time you have some great witnesses for sure. Yeah. Ricky, do you want to come in on that case? Ou told gotten so much attention that the very case that opens up the whole series. I mean, it was very important for us to As you said, have credible people who are not You know, she didn't go. She was kayaking and chilly, You know, e think over 20 years ago now, um she wasn't seeking attention. She certainly didn't think she was gonna die. Andre, but he has a profound experience. She is a spinal surgeon to the doctor. And, um you know her understanding of death. Medical deaths is When the body when the brain stuff onto one body when it dies, and she was underwater for over 30 minutes. There were a number of witnesses, you know. I'm looking for her her She was on the bottom of the some of this water bed after having gone over a cliff of waterfall and She had this incredibly vivid experience and she came back and she she says she should have been brain dead. But she wasn't and she shares an experience that Has been studied by doctor Bruce Greyson. At the medical school and the division of Perceptual Studies, and he catalog these very similar kinds of near death experience phenomenon in such a way that There's a pattern to these people have these experiences that they're not. Sort of anomalies in some ways that they kind of fall within the study that he's done in this pattern, so there's You know they're similar. There was And what does that mean? I don't again. We don't really draw conclusions, but it just raises questions. A. You know, there are there's Her story in particular is amazing as many of these near death experience cases that you cover in the in the first episode. How people can know these things when they're effectively brain dead. I mean, that really does refute the idea that Consciousnesses exists in the brain. Right, Leslie? Yeah. I mean, that's what I was saying. And I think the other important component of it because you know, especially in the serious. We're very concerned with the characters themselves, the human experience how it affected them. I think the other really important element about near death experiences is Profound effect that they have on the people who experienced them. They usually been absolutely changes their lives forever. And it's almost it's not easier for every person when that happens, so that's one of the things I also loved about. The first episode is that we You know the film, the filmmakers visited a the center in Seattle. Internationals is I am the International Association from near Death studies, and there's a A. So you know, I guess she's a social worker, Kimberly Clark shark who works there. And you really, you know, we get a sense from the people that were there and that it's not easy for everybody Take to die and come back. You kind of think Literature so far has sort of shown this of being this wonderful, blissful experiences and come back and you're never afraid of dying anymore. But it's really not that simply. We've had a trauma by actually dying in the first place, and then you have to integrate a whole new reality into your life. Did it affect your relationships, and it affects a lot of things Not always easy, but it zipped up evil. That That's also another thing. That sort of points to the profound reality of it is that it's not. It's something that really leaves. A lasting impact on a person is not just like having a dream or something. You know, it's It's real. Some of them say it's more real when you're in that world than it is in the physical world. That's how visited profound It was for them. We're talking with Leslie Kean and Ricki Stern about the Netflix docuseries surviving death. When we come back, I want to get into reincarnation. Memories of past lives. Some of the other compelling stories that they've dug up for the Syriza. We go into the break with Linda Ron.

Pete Hamill, legendary New York columnist, has died
"I have some sad news as well being informed that apparently legendary New York Post and Daily News columnist Pete Hammel has passed away. Unfortunately, at the age of 85 so he was a longtime editor. For the New York Post and a longtime columnist for the both The post and the News rush. You and I spoke with his brother, Dennis family, also a terrific columnist of mine. And, You know, people who know their history may remember this. But Pete Hamill was a pretty close friend of Robert Kennedy and Hammel helped persuade Robert Kennedy to run for president back in 1968. He worked on Kennedy's campaign. Then he covered it as a journalist, and he was one of four men who actually disarmed, sir. Hand, sir. Hand you know, removed his gun in the aftermath of that Kennedy assassination is a pretty good documentary series about that Kennedy assassination on Netflix. He's one of you know, when you talk about family you're talking about him and Jimmy Breslin. I mean those air, the legendary people. I'm saying Steve Dunleavy. I'm so sad about that, because he's really and you know, I gotta call Dennis the minute we get off the he Not only, though, would Bobby Kennedy, but he was quite The man on his earlier days dating Jackie Ah Onassis Onassis.
