"When it comes to horses, we mean business. For more information, visit business dot Louisville dot EDU slash equine. All right, plenty of things to get to on this week's edition of the show. We dive in with the first topic, which is based on the el Camino real Derby. And the fact, believe it or not, it is the only Derby points race slated for today to have produced a Derby winner, and as we just heard, it was charismatic in 1999. So guys, I'm going to ask you this and Timmy, I'll come to you first. Which race, the withers, the CMF Davis, or the el Camino real Derby, is most likely to provide us with a Derby winner this year. None of them. Not a one. None of those three races will have the Derby winner. It does. If one of them doesn't, I'm a dummy. But I'm looking at some of the horses that are running in these races and to me, you know, they're not upper tier three year olds. The withers, Linda rice, the source Arctic arrogance, the 8 to 5 favorite was second in the remson to W Nell who's running the Sam Davis. To me, none of these races really jump out and say, there's a horse in here that's going to win on the first Saturday in May. But maybe if the winner of the withers might win the Preakness because early voting did that last year and in the el Camino, the only thing that's kind of interesting is that baffert's got two, three year olds in there that are probably two that are under his radar under the radar a little bit Gilmore and nullabor nulls are $500,000 purchase, but it took him three chances to break his maiden. And none of these races are getting my blood pumping as we head towards the first Saturday in May. I just don't see any of these horses jumping up and winning when that race and then jump up and go on to win in Kentucky. I mean, the withers before 2012 was run later in later in the spring. I mean, sir Barton won that race. Here's my history lesson for the day. Sir Barton won that race. After winning the 19 Derby and Preakness, anyone won the withers. So the withers doesn't get me going at all. So neither does a Sam Davis, neither does the el Camino. But I agree. It was doubtful that a Derby winner will come out of here, but one thing is for sure, if one of these sorts of tests when The Kentucky Derby to win the Derby is going to pay a whole lot. The French players when it comes time. But if I had to pick one, I'm going Sam Davis just goes nice little racetrack and it's a good place to come off of and there has been some success coming out of Tampa with Fletcher dropping some horses there that have run well. If I had to pick one I'll say Sam David. And I think the Timmy's point that he made earlier, maybe if you want to win the Preakness stakes, winning one of these races is a good thing or competing in one of these races is a good thing to do. And there have been. It's kind of mind boggling. When you think about some of the horses that have won these three prep races today, and the fact that only the el Camino real has produced a Derby winner, you think of the CMF Davis and you see names like bluegrass cat and any given Saturday and destined classic causeway last year who went on to win some big races. The withers, you go back to bernardini, who won the withers in 2006 and then as we know went on to a tremendous career, a fleet again, early voting last year. I think Timmy, you're right. I mean, if you're looking to win big races down the road, the Derby's probably not the race you're going to win if you're competing in these races, but other races up the road are certainly well within your Wheelhouse. Yeah, this is still the preliminaries. I think before the big time preps come and come and get us so I'm very comfortable saying we aren't going to see a Derby winner out of any of these three races. You're right. The next two rounds are where it gets serious when you get to the 50 point and the other point right there. That's where you're going to find your Derby winner. Dale, it gets serious that the 50 point races, but you got to get past these first to get to the 50 point ones, right? Yeah, you need to, yeah, but that's when we're going to start seeing where the Derby winner might be coming from. Especially the mountains. We start tracking them out a little bit further. Yeah. All right, well, we'll find out in just about 8 weeks or so, I guess, or maybe a little bit longer with it. February, march, April, may 12 weeks, is that what we are away from the Kentucky Derby. All kinds of things to talk about. How about this one? There have been 7 Derby points races contested so far this year. So we're going to play a little game of by or sell with the winners of those races. And we're only going to focus on 6 because the news came out yesterday that newgate is now off the Derby trail after winning the Robert B Lewis last weekend. He has a hawk issue. He's going to be sidelined for a couple of months. So he will not make The Kentucky Derby, but I will give you the winners of the other 6 points races that have been run so far in 2023. You guys tell me if you were buying or selling those horses. Tim, I'll start with you. Smarty Jones winner, victory formation, buying or selling. Buying. One of the courses out of the Brad Cox Barnett, one is first three. He's got the running style that is that is perfect for the Derby. You know, he likes to be honored near the pace. And I think that his numbers have gone up in each race. And I think that victory formation before they get to Churchill is going to be at either the top or right near the top of the Brad Cox army of horses that come into the Derby. I mean, he's a son of he should be able to run all day, so the amount of court shouldn't be an issue. And I'm definitely buying on him. Dale buying or selling victory formation. Sally.

"They just went official at both San Anita and Oklahoma park, about 20 minutes to go till the next at Santa Anita 23 minutes for the 7th at Oakland. They're on the track in warming up for the finale at aqueduct. 9th and final race on the Friday afternoon. If you're a fan of Manny Franco today is your day. You should have been playing. He's already won 5 races on today's card at aqueduct. This 9th and final race, by the way, 47° in Queens, New York, mostly cloudy skies. They've had some showers on and off throughout the afternoon. The track has been sloppy all day. 9th raised one mile, a one turn mile optional claiming allowance event. These are four year olds and up non winners of two other than or in for a claiming tag of $62,500 scratch. The one, no burn. We've got 9 of them going to post in here. The ones who were getting the most money right now, the favorite is number 9 kurland's wisdom for the team of Linda rice and Jose lezcano sources not been worse than second in any of his most recent 6 starts. All of them against a little bit softer than what he's going to see today other than he did run in the empire classic. It was a race against state breds that day, but he ran a good second. He's coming off a win against a of the then competition last time out taking the logical step up to this non winners of two other than competition today. 7 in the money appearances from 8 career starts on the main track at aqueduct and over all he's been in the money 13 of 15 lifetime starts. So not that I'm encouraging people to play show bets, but if you're show wagering on horse like kurland's wisdom, you're probably ahead of the game because by the way, he's very rarely favored in his races. He keeps running good races and other than last time where he was the three to two favorite. He has not been favored in his other 9 of last ten starts. So kurland's wisdom is being bet to try to get the job done once again. This time for the second time in a row. The second choice on the board number 5 win it for John Kimmel and Kendrick Carmouche taking a significant drop in class from the discovery handicap last time out where he finished a decent fourth behind eloquence and barista and naval aviator now back in against allowance foes, two starts back, he beat a other than competition pretty easily by some two lengths as the 5 to two favorite that day. His lone start on a wet racetrack was last time out in the discovery and even though he didn't hit the board that day. Speed rating rise, he ran about as well as he runs on a fast track. He just ran against tougher competition. So I'm not sure if the sloppy track is going to hurt his chances or not. I would think it would not, as far as the favorite kern's wisdom goes, he's been on a wet race track or an off track, which an off track is anything that's not listed fast. So technically a good racetrack is listed counts as off and you know if you've been playing this game long enough that there are good racetracks sometimes look as dry as a fast racetrack. You know, it's just it's kind of a judgment call and it might be the race before they upgraded to fast or the race before they downgraded to sloppy, something like that. But kurland's wisdom has been in the money for a 5 tries on tracks rated off so the two favorites have experience with that. If you're not interested in those, the other ones who are getting the most play number four, I am the law for John terranova and Jose Gomez coming off back to back wins once against one against starter car allowance competition. One against a other than level allowance competition. So we just continues up the ladder. By the way, he beat kurland's wisdom in that a other than win back on December 2nd and kurland's wisdom came back and beat those kind of that kind of competition in his subsequent start. But kurland's wisdom getting more money once again than I am the law. Also number ten bourbon calling getting a lot of play. He was 12 to one on the morning line. He's down to 9 to two right now, for Antonio arriaga and Manny Franco coming off a good second at the $32,000 claiming level last time out. So first off the claim for Antonio arriaga who does just fine in these scenarios winning about 1718% of the time, Manny Franco gets on board for the first time. I wonder how much of this money is playing the hot hand. I think we see this a lot with the real top riders, the irad Ortiz Joel Rosario flavian Pratt, those, you know, the guys that seem like they're going to get better all the time. I'm not sure if I've seen this normally with Manny Franco. But Manny Franco gets aboard and once again, he's already won 5 races on the card today at aqueduct, and there are more people than expected to obviously think that he has a chance to get the job done for win number 6 aboard bourbon calling who has not won in a while, no wins in 2022, no wins in 2021. Prior to that, he had 5 wins from 21 starts. Unfortunately, he's over his last 11, at least in this race. We'll see if he can get the job done today. He has run on a wet track three times in his career, no wins, no seconds, two third place finishes to his credit, but I like the outside love, I would rather be outside than inside for these elongated sprints, you know, 7 furlong 7 and a half, one mile where it's one turn. I just think it's better to be able to go in the gate last, not have to worry about anyone crossing over from your outside and you've got so much run until you get to the turn and have to get positioned. I think the outside usually is where you want to be. It doesn't mean you can't win from the inside, but I like the outside runners in general post position wise. Let's go out to aqueduct for the finale. Speed from in between horses there comes uncle moonlight is going to be in the early fray. With the early mix and also manor house is there tightly bunched here as they get set to come out of the chute.

"But I liked what W and L did last time out. And along with Arctic arrogance, he's the one I'm going to use, but like you, I'm going to put Arctic arrogance on top and see if he can either take them wire to wire or be right up there on the pace the whole way and win the rems in tomorrow at aqueduct. 8th race on the aqueduct card tomorrow is the grade three $200,000 go for wand. These are Phillies and mayors. Going to go a flat mile on the main track. That's a one turn mile at aqueduct. We've got a field of 11 going to post in this race, David. This is another one where it's hard to figure out exactly who's actually going to be favored in this race. Battle bling is the morning line favorite at three to one, and she just runs good race after good race. In fact, she has not been worse than second in 9 of her previous ten starts, and she's riding a three race win streak. I guess she makes sense as the favorite, but she certainly doesn't lay over the field. Yeah, I think that's well said. She's won three straight and she's won those three races at three different tracks. And I'm always a little bit leery of Laurel and colonial and Delaware form when it comes to New York, but battle bling has proven herself in New York. Two wins and 5 starts at aqueduct and the other three races were second place performance. So she fits very nicely in here. She beat banks sting a few races ago. They've kind of gone back and forth running against each other. But banks sting beat her in March at aqueduct last year. Now banks thing has been running primarily against New York bred horses. And this is a stretch out bank sting's last couple races at 6, and at 6 and a half furlongs, but banks didn't love the big a, 6 for 8. Loves this distance of a mile, three for 5, and a banks thing is four to one and battle bling is three to one. I'm very happy to take that four to one. Now Betsy blue interests me just a little bit too. Betsy blue is actually the favored in that race that bank sting was in last time out. My concern with Betsy blue is the distance. I'm just not sure. I know she's won for one going a mile, but that's just not normally what this Linda rice four year old Philly does. There are a couple of others that are sort of maybe not totally impossibilities. I'm kind of interested in what you think of a long shot, Sharapova number 5, of course, that's been running out west and now is trying the east coast. I read Ortiz is on number 7 doctor B, whose last race at aqueduct looks like it's good enough to beat this group, was running against some good ones earlier this year. I think it's pretty wide open, but banks sting just second off of layoff, love Zach would conduct likes the distance, feels like the best fit to me. If you give me four to one, that would be a really enticing situation. That's something I'd be interested in. But I can imagine it going in a variety of ways. So I picked banks ding on top as well, mainly because well first you mentioned her affinity for aqueduct, but I think she's going to get some pace to run at. And I like her draw on the outside. There are four or 5 of them who look like they want to be on or near the lead in bank sting, may be able to sit just off of them. The long shot that I was intrigued with is number four WWF fitzy, and she was awful last time out. She ran behind battle bling. They came out of the same race at aqueduct to turn back the alarm, battle bling was 9 to 5 that day. WWE was not a big price. 5 to one that afternoon. It was her first try in the care of newborn Tom Morley. It was her first try at least in a long, long time without the benefit of Lasix, and she was up front up close early and not ended up beaten 33 lengths. It was so bad that it probably means nothing. If she was beaten 8 lengths or ten lengths or 12 lengths, and I said, well, maybe she needs the Lasix or maybe robertino diodoro knew something about her that the current barn hadn't figured out yet. She got beat so bad last time out. I think it's a nothing effort. Listen, if she's 5 to two in the race, I'm probably looking to bet against her at 15 to one. I think she has a chance at a price. She's run races that would certainly make her one of the ones to beat. And because of that last race, she's going to be a gigantic price. So like you, I'm putting bank sting on top, but I'm going to fiddle around with WWF as well. Maybe underneath and maybe even using her in some of the horizontal exotic place. All right, we're going to take a break. When we come back, we have one more big race on tomorrow's aqueduct card to look at. The grade one cigar mile. You can bet the cigar mile and watch America's day at the races to keep up with all of the action on FS two this weekend. Both days. Tomorrow and Sunday, FS two from noon to four 30 Eastern Time. All right, Dave, four graded stakes on the aqueduct card tomorrow. And at the top of the show, we heard the stretch run of the 2020 edition of the demoiselle, the 2022 edition goes as race 6 tomorrow in 2020, malata was able to get the win and she certainly turned out to be a very good three year old and four year old Philly throughout her career and her full sister figures to be the heavy favorite in this year's edition of the demoiselle. That's number three, Julia shining, who was eye catching in her maiden wind sprinting 7 furlongs or approximately 7 furlongs at keeneland her lone start. She is three to 5 on the stretch out and facing tougher competition. Yeah, she was the favorite first time out, but not an enormous favored in a 12 horse field. She went off at a little under 5 to two. And like you said, she was just terrific. Daughter of curling. This is one that I think Todd Fletcher knew was pretty good. And ran well first time out. Now the fig did not come back enormous. In fact, the top fig in the race is number one foggy night who earned that fig at parks and then came back and ran a very credible race in an a $150,000 stakes race at aqueduct only about a month ago, but to me, if Julia shining runs kind of the B plus a minus race that we're all anticipating and expecting, I think she's better than this group. There's another Todd pletcher in there. I'm a little bit interested in gambling girl, a horse that's been running against state bread competition, but a pricey state bread, a $200,000 daughter of dialed in has a couple of wins. The figs aren't there. And I think if Julia is shining, makes any sort of improvement offer first race. She's going to be a winner. Yeah, and she's going to probably be a winner at three to 5 or less, which does not really intrigue me as far as a betting standpoint, but if I'm playing horizontally, she certainly looks like the one to beat. As you said, figure why she doesn't stand out in this field. So if you're somebody like me who's saying, well, she looks like she's a little bit better, you know, what she ran first time out is a little bit better than what the other ones have run. You certainly wouldn't think about singling her at one to two. The problem is she's probably going to be better the further that she goes. And I think that's just a bonus that she won in her debut. The stretch out to two turns and a mile and an 8th being by kerlin out of an AP indie mayor and more importantly being a full sister to malachi seems like would be right up a rally. It's not a race I love simply because of the price, but more interested in watching and seeing what Julia shining does in the demoiselle. 7th race tomorrow at aqueduct on the other hand is the quarter $1 million grade two rems and the male counterpart to the demoiselle, if you will, two year olds going a mile in 8th here as well, 7 of them going to post and whereas we're going to have a heavy favorite in the demoiselle. I'm not sure who's going to be favored in the remson. It could be tuskegee airmen. It could be Arctic arrogance. Both of them ran very well in their most recent starts. Yeah, this is a 7 horse field and two of the competitors in here. Midnight trouble lost and lost pretty convincingly to tuskegee airmen last time out and number 6 quick to accuse his run credible races, but was beaten pretty convincingly by Arctic arrogance last time out. Unless you can find an excuse for one of those two, it really does seem to come down to the two favorites. I don't agree with the morning line tuskegee airmen is 8 to 5 Arctic arrogance is two to one. Tuskegee airmen has run probably the slightly faster race, but it came at Delaware park and the debut was at parks and this is of course that looks good and certainly may have a great future. I need to see it against this level of competition. Arctic arrogance has three races two wins. They've all come against New York State bred competition, but I trust Linda rice in spots like this. I thought the win in the sleepy hollow last time was really quality and Arctic arrogance at anything under two to one, not as the favorite two to one, 5 to two, three to one, something like that. I think would be really good. I think actually that the odds are going to be flipped. I think tuskegee airmen is going to be two to one Arctic arrogance that's going to be 7 to 5. But I think Arctic arrogance has the best opportunity to win. So do I and actually the horse that I'm most worried about is the horse on the outside W and L, W and L for Danny gargan and Jose Ortiz resounding win on a sloppy off the turf race at aqueduct early part of October. Not really bred to be better long than short being by good magic out of a forest wildcat mayor sounds a little bit more like sprint breeding than route reading to me. I know good magic himself was good around two turns, but his progeny seemed to be better sprinting than routing.

"Owe you prices from Saratoga just waiting for them to go. They've actually gone official. Prices are up now. And let's get them out to you. The 9th race was won by number one smoking hot kitty three year old bay Philly by kittens joy out of the street cents mayor smoke signals owned by Linda rice and preferred pal stable, trained by Linda rice Jose lescano aboard smoking hot kitty, paid 9 84 53 42nd 5 Eli dancer three 42 93rd 11 galley head. Let's get that price there. That doesn't even look right. Let me just make sure that that's correct. Galley head there. Yep, that's right. 7 60 to show fourth number 7 ace up her sleeve. The dollar exact of 1580, the 50 cent tri one 21 50 and the $1 super effect, a $1676 and 50 cents. We might be able to get you a little bonus coverage here of the 6th race at Gulfstream park. It's 7 furlongs on the main track and allowance optional claiming event for three year olds and up. It's actually, I should say this a starter allowance optional claiming event. So it's three year olds enough who fit under startle allowance conditions or they're in for a claiming tag of $20,000. 7 furlongs on the main track here scratch numbers one, 6 and 8. So just to feel the 5, there were four of the 5 are either two to one or 5 to two in the race. So tough handicapping puzzle here as they get close to a start, probably get to the coverage of this race, hopefully they'll finish it in time that we can actually get you the prices. It's not a race I loved handicapping wise, you know, normally if you say, boy, if you could find somebody you really like in a 5 horse field and you're gonna get two to one or 5 to two, you jump on it. The problem is, I can't find anyone I really like in this race. And the good news is there are other races out there, and there are other days. And there's no one forcing me to make or lose my money on this race. But we will bring you this race, nonetheless. Because that's what they do. And if they're going to run the 6th race during our time frame, we will bring it to. They are delaying just a little bit in front of the starting this starts the late pick four. The runners from the rail out aser Tycho wild 99 Bella future cozy my boy and noble empire. I will say this. Whenever I see cozy, my boy, I think of this. Cozy my boy has raised 31 times in his career. Three wins, 11 seconds, and three thirds. Obviously, he's a horse that does very well for his owners, because he finishes in the money, basically half the time. And he's usually running in decent races like these starter allowance optional claimers or starter allowance conditions. Something like that. More often than not, he runs pretty good races. It's hard to bet these horses to win when they're three to three for 31 with 11 seconds, isn't it? I mean, you figure he might win again sometime. But horse that kind of seems like he likes finishing second. It seems like a weird thing to say that, you know, who likes finishing second. But you know, there's some horses who either don't want to go buy other horses or there's some horses when they're in front, kind of pull themselves up a little bit and maybe lose interest down the stretch when there's nobody else around them. We heard that there would trainer Doug O'Neill when he was talking about one of his Phillies in tomorrow's Sorrento and how she was 30 to one first time out and he was surprised in the clockers were surprised and he was saying that, hey, when she works alone, she doesn't look very good in the mornings, but when they put her with a workmate, she kind of gets after it. And she obviously got after it in her career debut and might have a good chance to get the job done once again in the Sorrento tomorrow. But there are runners like that that are tough to gauge and I don't know where cozy my boy fits into that. Maybe he's just the simple the simple answer is maybe he's just been second best 11 host 31 starts and that's why he finished second. I don't know. I wouldn't want to take a real short price on him even though he certainly looks like a horse that can win. They've arrived at the starting gate for this 6th race at Gulfstream park. Once again, just to feel the 5 7 furlongs on the fast main track on a typical summer afternoon in South Florida just about 90° and humid weather and just one of those days where the air conditioner can not keep up with how hot your house is going to get. Take it from me. Last few going in, Pete iela with the call race 6 at Gulf Stream. Noble empire to take the outside gate. It's a field of 5. We're set for a start. And they're off. Awkward getaway for wind at 99 last to begin. From the outside draw noble empire was quick off the block speeding through with the rail as serti co has speed, rushing forward is win 99 inside of cozy my boy and Bella future is last. They complete the opening for long and the surdo is now moved through to take a narrow lead from noble empire in second. There's room between horses for win 99 and he's now up between runners to race the length off the pace setter out deep on the course goes cozy my boy and at the back is Bella future. That's the 5 of them as they raise half a mile from the finish. It's a front three parts of length. Noble empire latched onto in second, two better than win 99 is together with cozy, my boy, and Bella future is last. Positions unchanged as they round the far turn at the three furlong point. Noble empire trying to grind down a surrogate at the three eighths up to third cozy, my boy back inside win 99, the trailer remains Bella future through the opening half mile of 46 seconds flat. They're under the top of the stretch, a surgical pins his ears and tries to turn away noble empire, three wide win 99, four wide cozy my boy and their at the top of the stretch from the inside a surrogate. He's up for a fight and he's still in front down the center cozy, my boy, three wide win 99 noble empire between 8th of a mile ago. Who do you like here? A surdi co is still in front. Win 99 takes aim with 99

"Cats and kittens away, well, along with Eli dancer. And on the outside, moving up is Lola Lola. So it's Lola Lola to the front. Eli dancer runs in second with cool cats and kittens next and third. Followed by galley head who's running in fourth on the inside is smoking hot kitty next in 5th ace upper sleeve is in 6th position farther back is unqualified in 7th and Sarah's splendor down on the inside races in 8th. I followed by the first time starter one journey and the other first year Maddie surprised. The quarter went in 22 and one as they come from the top of the stretch. It is Lola Lola with Eli dancer right there on the outside and gaining ground here is a galley head from third and smoking hot kitty is now kicking in late as they pass the 8th pole. It is Eli dancer with smoking hot kitty driving up on the outside. Eli dancer smoking hot kitty smoking hot kitty gives Jose less Kano his third win today. Eli dancer was second and galley head finish third. Unofficially one 5 11 in the 9th race at Saratoga smoking, hot kitty, getting the job done today, Linda rice fresh off the claim, wearing down the favorite Eli dancer in the shadow of the wire and winning in one O three and two solid time for 5 and a half furlongs on the turf. Although the turf course at Saratoga yields some very fast time. So even though one O three and two sounds fast, it's not really that fast for the way the turf course plays there. Jose lezcano pick out with the mount on smoking hot kitty, one 5 11 and a photo in the 9th at Saratoga. Going to take our final break when we come back. "Lone star for that. They've got their heels dug in. I'm not sure what side is right on this. But I don't think what Texas is doing can last into next year. We'll talk more about that with Danny Caldwell a little bit coming up about 15 minutes from now. I've got another live race coming up. Finale on the card at Belmont park today is just four minutes away. 6 furlongs on the inner turf for the New York bread made in three year olds and up going for a $40,000 tag scratch the one a 1314 and 15 big field of 12 going to post mentioned earlier on that number ten Martinez was your favorite. He's two to one right now for Mike micelle and Joel Rosario ran second at the same level and distance last time out on June 19th as a 5 to two favorite never really looked like he challenged for the win, but was clearly second best beaten four lengths that day, but well clear of the rest of the field and to be honest, if he runs that race again, he's very logically going to be right there. The intriguing horse in this race, though, is number 8 majestic Johnson. He is a first time starter by majestic city. By the way, good name majestic Johnson. He's the first time starter for Linda rice, who's ridden by irad Ortiz junior. And that's what makes this intriguing. First of all, Iran does not ride a lot of horses for Linda rice. And Linda runs a lot of horses. He's ridden 6 horses for Linda in the last two months. Two of them have won 5 of them, 5 of the 6 have hit the board. So basically when he's riding for her, the horses are usually well met. The other thing that's interesting about majestic Johnson is being by majestic city out of a Patriot Act mayor, that is not what you would call screaming out loud turf breeding. In fact, I would say it's not much turf rating at all. Now, I will say this, majestic city himself as a son of city zip and city zips, have done very well on the turf overall. But majestic city himself as a stallion has not really produced a whole lot of really good turf forces and Patriot Act on the damn side the same way. So you've got a horse that's not really bred for the turf. Going for a trainer and Linda rice who does not win with a whole lot of first time starters. 9% over the last couple of years. With a jockey who's very good, but doesn't ride for her very often. That's the part that makes it intriguing to me, and let's face it. If it's not the favorite Martinez, who can you go for in this race? The rest of the field is less than stellar. And I'm being as politically correct as I can be with that. Not so good. Second choice in the wagering right now is number 11 New York anthem for Tyler service and Kendrick Carmouche. To tell you what I'm talking about, New York anthem has never raced on the turf. Is coming out of a third place finish against maiden special way competition at parks in his last start. Certainly doesn't sound like something that you'll be running to the windows to bed. So he has a chance. He has a chance in this race, mainly because look at the rest of the competition here. It's not so good. So the fact that New York anthem is four to one in the race tells you that this is not much of a field. It's a big field. It's a lot on quantity, not a lot on quality, and it is a typical last race of the day kind of a puzzle in New York. They are very good at putting these lower level maiden claimers or condition claimers. They do a good job in the race office there in New York of making the get out race a tough race. Listen, they don't want a three to 5 shot against 6 other horses in the finale of the day. This race closes out pick 6s, pick 5s, pick fours, pick threes, and of course the late double. And a lot of places, not New York, but a lot of places will have super high 5 wages. So a lot of tracks will have the biggest field of the day running in the last race of the day. Despite the fact Belmont does not have that pent effect or super high 5 or whatever you want to call it, they also subscribe to the last race biggest field of the day. Toughest handicapping puzzle of the day theory, and this race fits perfectly with that. When this race was put in the book, the racing secretary with a smile on his face is I know what's going to be the 9th race of the day on Friday, July 8th. It's going to be this race. Because he knows that there's going to be 30 horses entered and they're easily going to have a full field for this race. And there were 16 that made the body of the race four of them were also eligibles in 12 got in. By the way, 16 being entered, that doesn't mean there were 16 were only entered in the race. There could have been 50 entered in this race. There could have been a 150. But they only allow 16 to make the program. They're not going to have 34 also eligible. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. If you do that. So I'm intrigued to see if number 8 majestic Johnson has any talent. I don't think I read or tease would ride this horse for Linda rice or vice versa, Linda rice would be calling on irad Ortiz if he didn't have a little bit of chance in here. Listen, he doesn't show anything in the mornings. Typical, slow, Linda rice, half mile, and 5 eighths breezes on either the main track or the training track. It's a guessing game, but there's not much that he has to beat. Obviously number ten Martinez is a logical one in here. He's been the favorite since the wagering opened in the race. He's going in the gate now. Good-looking Grayson of twirling candy, making the tenth start of his career. But then again, you've got to take two to one on a horse that's zero for 9 coming into the race today. And by the way, he's only finished second once in his last race. Last few runners are going in southern civility to the middle of the gate. Here is bow in the back moving into the outside. So the outside runners loading in a little quickly, of course, the plane one Luca at the spa will actually be breaking from post position number 12 despite the fact that he is programmed number one. Two left to load in number 7 unlikely, and I would agree with that assessment unlikely. He's zero for 17 coming into this race and he's never been second or third in any of those races, so he is definitely running to his namesake. Luca at the spa, the final one in the final race on the final Friday at Belmont. Here's John embryo.

"That was a 90 day suspension that applies everywhere across North America. And his stable was sent to other trainers, Sean McCarthy, and Tim yak teen, where those that took the majority of his horses, but he will be back in July. Now the other ones that are outstanding are not regulator issued suspensions. They are those from Churchill down, which has suspended him through the middle of 2023. And this baffert one, which runs through January. They gave him credit, even though he got a year, they gave him credit for essentially time serves. You may recall that he was given an initial suspension by naira in much the same way that Churchill downs did. So they gave him some credit for that and for the 90 days he serving. So essentially it keeps baffert out of action this year and then he'll be back next year at nyra. But that's the current status on his things. And those two, the Churchill downs one is under appeal and we'll have to see what shakes out with the 9 one. Talking about Byron king from bloodhorse, the latest on Bob Baffert, who was given that one year suspension by the New York racing association for the tracks in New York, aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga, that news coming out yesterday. Byron, we started the conversation saying that, you know what? If you're going to do this with Bob Baffert, there are other trainers. I can guarantee you since 2019. There are other trainers that have raised and had positives for therapeutic legal therapeutic medications. Do you take a look at those trainers and say, okay, you're suspended. You might not have many horses running up there anymore if you start doing that. Well, I think you clearly need to, if you're going to set the precedent that you're going to say, I am going to come after the people that we think need to face more for the violations they committed. They clearly need to go after certain types, and they've pointed out several people that apparently Marcus like tally, a trainer with a checkered history is one that is on their hearing list that they want to have come before hearing officer, but at least to my knowledge, that has not yet happened. You mentioned the Linda rice situation and she is currently appealing her regulator issued suspension, but those are kind of things that I think those two people. There was some other people that have run courses that I can't remember off the top of my head, the particular individual, but I believe ran a horse that was a questionable soundness. Those are kinds of things that not to say that they're guilty and they absolutely should be slapped with some lengthy suspension, but they deserve to have come before a hearing officer if you're going to do it in the manner that you did it with effort. Yeah, and baffert is certainly not innocent here. He has had those overages and positive tests and nobody is denying that. And we're not defending bob for that, but do you feel as if there's more to this story here that bob is being made the poster child for this and singled out because of the fact that he is Bob Baffert and hey, we can make an example of this guy? Oh, I think there's no doubt in my mind that he has been the focus of Churchill downs in naira on this kind of things. And but I think part of that has to do is not, I don't want to say it's just because of who he is, but it definitely has to do with the race that it occurred in. The Kentucky Derby is sacred to Churchill downs. I mean, it is sacred and clearly they felt like they had egg on their face after they had a positive in The Kentucky Derby. And so clearly they went after him off that because if you were to review just the violation in itself relative to those that other trainers have had, I don't think you would have seen him give him a two year suspension. Yeah, I get that. And I get that a 100% with Churchill downs in their perspective on it. But The Kentucky Derby, it's not sacred to naira. He didn't get the positive in the Belmont stakes. So that's where it throws up a red flag to me with this particular decision. Yeah, I think, you know, I guess you could say that, you know, since the Belmont stakes is part of the Triple Crown and is involved in that that they feel some sense of connection to it. Of course, the Preakness was handled differently. You may recall that even Medina Spirit was allowed to participate in the Preakness stakes after his initial therapy positive that first test, and they put him through a series of tests. Of course, different ownership there. And there are those people that think that there are entities that are power players, whether at naira or Churchill downs to an extent that are clearly dissatisfied with baffert and are going after him, or at least that's what his attorneys say. That there is a bit of jealousy. That's obviously attorney talk, but at the same time, you know, it's clearly naira has taken this kind of tact and as followed suit to Churchill downs, but not all tracks have done so. And I think it's easier for naira to do it in the sense that if they suspend him or something, you know, yes, they're losing him for some of these major stakes races. But again, like we were talking about, it's a fairly limited number of starters. If this drone group, which runs San Anita, where he's based, we're to give him a long suspension or something. It's much more harmful to their product because he runs on their circuit on a daily basis. So I think it's a little easier for naira to take action than it is for somebody that's more reliance on him to fill their race cards and that kind of stuff. No, it's a great point. Byron king so, so good. You can follow him on the blood horse website on social media. Byron, listen, really do appreciate you taking some time again. You're always very gracious with your time. And we'll catch up again soon. Enjoy the weekend, my friend. All right, Mike, you'd be well. All right, Byron king here on HR and fantastic job of laying things out and really spelling it out for you here this morning on the equine form. All right, when I come back, I'll get you ready for our number two. And I'll tell you about a way that you can shade your deck this summer very, very easily and it's a great product. This is the equine forum on the horse racing radio network. Hi, Tony. Hey,.

"You're going to have to wait a while. To find another baffert horse winning in New York because this past week, the New York racing association handed baffert a one year suspension at their three tracks that's aqueduct to Belmont and Saratoga. Tony on Twitter, chimes in and says, Linda rice is still running horses and winning at naira tracks. She intentionally cheated by entering her horses with knowledge she shouldn't have had. This is 1 million times worse than overage of a legal medicine. Overages happen. Move on. Pathetic. I saw several tweets along those same lines after naira announced the suspension of baffert yesterday, Byron king has been covering the baffert story from the beginning for blood horse and he is with me now here on HR N Byron good morning. Good morning. This decision has certainly sparked a lot of outrage from people, but some people siding with naira saying, hey, alford's a cheater, he needs to be suspended. What say you, Byron? Well, Mike, it's I kind of see both ends of it on one end, clearly baffert has had not just one positive. He's had quite a few, according to the naira attorney during the hearing he's had 7 violations since the summer of 2019. Which is clearly at the bare minimum pour oversight, I think anyone would agree on. But at the same time, it is therapeutic medications that he's been called out for, including betamethasone, which is, of course, what was in Medina spirits sample. It's permitted between races, but not on race day. So I'd see him as clearly having violated the rules, but at the same time, I would like many other people like to see if you're going to penalize Bob Baffert if you're going to do that. You need to certainly penalize other people in the sport that have broken the rules or done infractions that are worse. And as of right now, baffert has been the one that either Churchill downs or naira has gone after. And not some of the other individuals in the sport that have broken the rules. Yeah, I think you bring up a wonderful point and that was one of the questions that I wanted to ask you is racing, are we starting to get into a territory where we're setting a very scary precedent going forward if, well, let's take it this way first. Bob Baffert's 9 violations that were pointed out since 2019 did not occur in New York. None of those 9 violations occurred in New York. And as you said, all of them involved therapeutic medications. But regardless, none of those violations occurred in New York. Are we getting into a scary territory here Byron where all of a sudden racetracks can say and racing organizations can say you can't race at our track, you're suspended for something that didn't even happen in our state or at our race track. I think there's a possibility of that except here's the difference though is I think that every track or every operator, right, they have to, if they're doing their job well, they should be working to protect the integrity of the racing that they have there. So whether a person has committed that violations in their state or somewhere else, the fact is, as if they've done them before, they're giving a bit of a black eye to the participation there at your track. So I do think that they can take those things into consideration because the racing fan certainly knows of Bob Baffert's violations and he participating in iris. So I think they can take those things into account. I think I would put more emphasis on violations that occur at your individual place. But I think, again, what I want to see is not so much that. I think it's good to look at bob effort in the entirety of what he's done because he only runs what per year what maybe 15 horses in New York. I'm not quite sure the precise amount, but he's obviously based in Southern California. He primarily ships to New York to run in stakes races. During Belmont weeks, Saratoga, things of that nature. So your volume is not such that he would figure to have the same level of positives that he might have in California or even Kentucky where he probably ran a little bit more than New York. Even the most squeaky, clean trainer in the sport of thoroughbred racing because of the fact that we test to such minute thresholds now. And the testing has become so sophisticated, even the most squeaky clean trainer in the sport can get tripped up by a medication positive for a therapeutic medication that is still in the horse's system and is not allowed to be. It just happens. As Bob Baffert just gotten sloppy. I mean, how can a guy like Bob Baffert have so many infractions like this over the course of the past couple of years? I think clearly he had some lapses and in fact, you may recall from, I believe it was the breeders cup time. It came in, so this would have been a year and a half ago. He came out with a statement that said he was going to clean up his oversight. He was going to hire a doctor named doctor hoare from Kentucky to overlook his operation and to improve his oversight and practices and all those kinds of things. And it never happened. And it never happened according to those folks in part because of the distance between them. Kentucky to California and COVID and those kinds of things. But let's face it. There's plenty of veterinarians all over the country that he could have employed could have utilized and I think for every trainer for every participant in this sport, you owe it to.

"You can check out those and all the great stuff we have at birth and that dot com. All right, let's head back out to the phone's John in Florida. You're on the brisk net dot com call in show. Yes, Bobby, I have a couple of comments on your previous callers. Linda rice, I don't think you're taking that problem very serious because to me that's an insult to every owner that's pain that they rate in New York when she's got inside information. And by the way, the commission voted on 5 to zero to suspend her and find her. And she's under appeal. So eventually your previous callers write that she will go down the road for a period of time. And like I say, when she's got insight information when the owners are running these horses once a month and she knows who's in the race, that's a big, big edge. And by the way, there was an agent might Gonzalez. I don't know if that's the same like Gonzalez that was lead writer, call her back when you're in your day, but he was suspended for the very same thing, but he couldn't afford to appeal. And he went down the road. Well, he was the agent for Manny Franco, I believe when many Franco was a bug boy. And he is defense was similar to Linda Ryzen and I don't I haven't heard anything. I might Gonzalez since anyway. And I got one other comment on beverage. You know, when beverage says that he didn't inject the horse and he didn't know he wouldn't know exactly who all the ingredients that's in a cream. It's like you putting trumping on your foot for, you don't know all the ingredients of what you're taking. And you know, it's just something that something he probably didn't know, so I believe him. I'm at point. Now I don't have the previous things with these poppy seeds and all that. This is probably a bunch of bull, but you got to give up a bat for the breakout. It'd be like Tiger Woods. He is everything to lose. Why would he go out and with his reputation and with his legacy to go out and do something like that? To me is absurd. And I don't think you're giving him the benefit of the doubt. And by the way, when he had all these troubles, mom of park, they wanted him to come with open arms, you know, I don't know how many times he won the Haskell, but he had no problem with mama's park. So how far is his mom at the park from New York 30 miles. So the whole thing is, to me, is absurdity. I think that's what some of the callers were saying is that they don't like the fact that, you know, what some jurisdictions find problems with other jurisdictions seem to turn a blind eye to. And that's what it started with gene calling and some other colors were saying. The Linda rice thing, I don't dispute the fact that what she did was wrong. I'm just saying that she's not the only one who did wrong. You know, whether she's paying for it or not, the people providing the information to her that aren't supposed to be doing that seem like they should be in at least as much trouble as whatever Linda rice is. And I don't, you know, other than maybe some secondary entry clerk getting in trouble. I haven't read anything about that. I think it's wrong on all accounts. I agree with that, John, but I don't think it's just Linda. I think the other side of it, the people providing her the information I think is are just as accountable as she are. She is. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I mean, one thing I thought she claimed was that she wasn't the only trainer doing that. So I don't even know. But that's a ridiculous thing. That's like when you get pulled over for speeding and you're saying, look, look at all these people going 78 miles an hour. Yeah, that's why I have that doesn't make you able to do it. I guess I'm like backing up John's case. But to answer your question or answer, I guess was it Steve or maybe it was Chris. He mentioned those older horses. That to me is one of the most fascinating thing because we got three really exciting four year olds in training two really super ones, at least right now. Flight line, life is good, olympiad. Dynamite races this year. I mean, flight line for me, the whole thing is, for him, is just making these races. He's supposed to be in the Pacific classic, and the breeders cup class. Hey, he's already had one hiccup earlier this year. And he just can't afford any more like little like setbacks, Bobby, that costs him a couple months on the sideline. Life is good, you know, my own quarters, the question with him, but I think he's going to have a much better chance of getting that distance. Hey, Keenan, than he did in Dubai. And olympiad obviously has proven this class test like those other horses, but he's won four in a row four straight this year, including a couple grade twos in this last two starts and always wins or by open lentz this year..

"But before he did, he started singing the praises of Linda rice, lying Linda rice. And I think this goes to the point of, I believe it was your first caller tonight. What he was saying about how these jurisdictions, there's no even playing field. And they all protect their own. I mean, look at Linda rice. You would think that she did nothing wrong. She's going about our business, training horses. This person is caught red handed, cheating the game cheating players cheating other connections. And naira acts like, oh, it's okay. Give her a chance. Even though the gaming commission wanted to have her suspend already, they keep pushing back. Whereas baffert, this guy as far as I can recall and you guys have wrong. I don't think he's ever tested positive in New York. They act like this guy killed somebody. And again, going back to what the initial caller said. There's no like this is a joke. This is why you can't take naira seriously with the baffert stuff or any of this stuff seriously. Look at Baltic. You know, this guy was busted weeks ago and just two weeks ago Churchill downs is taking entries from baltis. Like, it's hard to take any of this stuff seriously, especially the bathroom stuff. When these jurisdictions, these tracks, they make a joke of it themselves because they don't, they don't really pursue it on a level playing field. It's all about, listen, this guy back where he's another jurisdiction, sorry. Jurisdictions trainer. He's not our guy. We'll make an example out of him. Belinda, go about your business, Linda. I need you to train. We need you to run horses here. And I'll let you comment on that. But real quick before I hang up, three year old of the year, it's going to be Jack, Jack Christopher, and depending on how the Travers goes. I agree if Maldonado wins it, he probably probably deserves three earlier, but I think Jack probably wins it and he'll be in the running for horse of the year too guys. Wait a minute. Don't go yet, Steve. I got a question for you before you hang up. So you're agreeing a lot with what gene our first caller said and that's what annoys him a lot is the fact that there isn't there isn't what happens in one place doesn't happen in the other place or vice versa. When you're talking about Linda rice and what happened with her and getting information ahead of time as far as who was entered and what races do you think that that was more her fault or more the racing offices fault at naira? I mean, I think if you read through everything, I mean, she was paying for that information via quote unquote Christmas gifts, which we all know is BS. All right, in the gaming commission, if you read the report, they want her suspended. It's all out there. And now naira pushes is pushing back and she's fighting it. But she should be suspended probably will be suspended. They're just buying time here. But yeah, I don't think this is just the race. I think there are people in the racing office who probably should go down as well. Not just her, but she was paying for that information. There's no question in my mind. If she got caught red hand. Interest in stuff really appreciate your call, Steve. All right, we're up against our final break. We're going to take this break when we come back. James want your opinion on older horses, which are good friend Chris in New Jersey, was asking about earlier and we still have a few little bit of time left if you want to call in. 888-966-4776 is the number. "Like I said, we didn't go and see her, I was a little surprised when we saw her. She's a slight and, you know, maybe 15 three if that's being generous. But you know, she was hard knocking, retired sound, and she was definitely a Gritty mirror and I think that definitely passed through to most of her foals. Next go is now standing at TaylorMade farm here in Lexington or just outside of Lexington and Nicholas feel I guess. Will you make it a point to get down here and go visit him? Yeah, of course I can't wait. I got I think about 16 more mayors left to fall and I'll be on my way. So that quickly. Yeah, yeah. Well, hopefully, so I got I'm going to be wrapped up here pretty soon and I want to try to make it to the Derby if I can. I've never been done this early folding ever. So I'm going to try to do that, go down and see next go. I had a mirror that I took to him that I'm waiting on a prank check. So we'll see hopefully I'll have one of my own next year. But yeah, I'd love to go see him. And for money here, he's really enjoying his new job. So he's doing well. Well, this segment unsung heroes really is designed to recognize people in the sport that do wonderful things. Don't always find themselves in the headlines. You certainly have when you breed horse of the year, you end up in the headlines and you do interviews all over the place. And that's pretty cool. But you're still getting up every day. You're talking about the folding. You're talking about having mayors that you're taking to stallions. And you're looking to breathe the next good one. Tell me about the operation and the challenges that you face day in and day out. It's not all glory every single day. No, it's not. And actually be honest with you, I had a pretty rough night last night with a Marina full and you know, I think I might have went to bed at 6. So I'm running on a few hours of sleep, but you know, for especially for an operation like mine and many, it's small. And especially now more than ever, it helps hard to find the prices of things are going up. It's making it harder and harder to have these smaller farms, for sure. But you're just doing a lot of the grunt work by yourself and but you know, it takes an army to run these farms and do what we do and like you said, just trying to find the people and pay them appropriately and keep your business running as probably the hardest part. You know, the horses are the easy part. You know, we all do it because we love the horses. But the logistics of running the business itself is really tough. Yeah, yeah, it's a challenge day in and day out and you're always looking for the next big horse. What do you do for an encore? Here's Sabrina. I don't know. Brad's got another one of my billies that I've read was actually kind of a funny story because she was with Linda rice at first and I remember I went up to Saratoga for a random weekend and we're like on the rail, we're kind of looking for the neon shirts at limo always has and we go back to the barn because you need to go and one of the boys is like, hey, guess who we have? And it was a Philly. So I talked to Brad the awards and he said that she should come back in the summer and hopefully have a fun year with her. So that'll be nice. Her name's amendment 19. So that'll be great. And then other than that, I got Nick goes, his half sister, she's about to have a more than ready here and a little bit. I've got a mayor that just sold to improbable and then kicking on the sale and seeing where we go from there. Now, the work continues. It never ends, but hope springs eternal for breeder Sabrina war and her family. Sabrina, listen, really appreciate the visit this morning. Congratulations on Nick's go. Congratulations on being an unsung hero and keep up the wonderful work. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. All right, Sabrina more boy, what a story. And this sport filled with unsung heroes. "Jose Ortiz is riding. I think for some other barns, I think he's going to pick up the better of the two. I know sappho's mission has is still a maiden, two good starts sprinting on the dirt against maidens in his first two starts. I'll be at defeats. That was when he was trained by George weaver. Now goes to the Linda rice barn. Good rider changed to Jose Ortiz. And I think those defeats in those maiden races are good enough to make him a player in the stallion series event. So a bit of an upset for me. I'm going with the other Linda rice trainees mission. We both think Linda rice is going to win it just with different runners. Dave likes the trio at the four in the great white way division of the New York stallion series race 6 tomorrow at the big a jump forward to the 8th race tomorrow at aqueduct. The half $1 million Fifth Avenue division of the New York stallion series. These are New York bred two year old Phillies going 7 furlongs on the main track. Another big field of 11 here and another race where I think there are a lot of different options. Yeah, this is a race I'm looking for a price. I'm against a couple of the horses that I think are gonna get bet significantly. I certainly have great respect for Belmont. And number 5, your cous for Mott is working really impressively allegedly ran 47 flat a bullet out of a 117 works on December 11th. The first time out wasn't bet huge and really didn't run great in a state bread made in special weight ran 5th made in facing horses that have won before and I'm not convinced. The other one that's going to get a ton of money. How do you make your money number 7 for Mike trauma? I don't know if this horse wants dirt or not. We saw a win in a second on synthetic at tracks that probably are not as good as aqueduct. We saw a win on the turf at Saratoga. It's just unclear to me if this is a dirt horse and I'm not going to take a short price there. Kristoff commands worse on the far outside shigeko has some intrigue to me off of a win in a race that was taken off the turf on the slope at Belmont in October and I think a good price there. But my pick is allow bonds, legacy, number three for Jeremiah engelhardt run three times run reasonably well in all three one a maiden race at Saratoga in the slope came back and ran in a stakes race at Saratoga ran third and four horse field was well beaten by horses that are better than this. And then laid off and came back at Laurel park and ran A-okay second last time out. Second off a layoff $150,000 horse route bound legacy at 8 to one in the morning line for me. All right, we both like 8 to one shots in this race. And I think Lao bound's legacy has a big chance as well. I'm gonna go with a maiden again in this division, number 9 bank on Anna liked what I saw from her in her career debut, a race that was scheduled for the turf and moved to the muddy main track back on November the 12th nice second place finished that day, like the outer draw like the fact that it's now a second start of her career. And I think a repeat of that race or even a little improvement makes her one of the ones to beat. Dave and I both think that this Fifth Avenue division is ripe for an upset, and we like 8 to one shots. Dave going with number three, loud bounds legacy. I'm going with number 9 bank on Anna, race number 8 tomorrow at aqueduct, the Fifth Avenue division of the New York stallion series stakes. We're going to take a break when we come back. We're going to head down to Gulfstream park. They've got a 5 bagger of stakes tomorrow on their card. You're listening to the weekend stakes preview presented by nyra betts. "And on Sunday, from two 30 to 6 p.m. Eastern Time, once again, FS two, both tomorrow and Sunday. Well, Dave, as I mentioned, tonight, a big night out at Remington park, they're closing up their 2021 racing season and the featured race on their closing night card goes at about ten 28 central time. So almost 1130 pretty late here on the east coast, but gives us plenty of time to get cracking on this $200,000 guaranteed pick four. They've got going on later tonight and the featured race tonight is the $400,000 springboard mile two year olds going to two turn mile on the main track at Remington park field of 9 and a lot of questions to be answered. Well, it's a field of 9 originally, but there are a couple of scratches number four shamayim and number 7 rich strike aren't running. And this is a race Bobby that has Derby points available. The winner gets ten second place four third place two and fourth place one if you're not running on Lasix, but there are about half the field that is running on Lasix. So I find that to be very, very interesting. And you made mention of make it big the safi Joseph trained red oak stable owned Jose Ortiz run two year old who has run twice at Gulfstream park and one impressively at four to 5 in both of those races, those both against state bred competition now into open company and make it big makes a whole lot of sense, but I don't think the state bred competition at Gulfstream park is necessarily as good as the open competition we see in this event and the one I like best is coming out of an open race. It's classic moment for Steve asked me to send Lasix for the first time so not in there for Derby points, but we've talked a lot at Remington park how good Steve asked me since is particularly when he teams with Stuart Elliott and this horse looked really, really good in a Churchill downs maiden special weight last time out after running in what was kind of a key keenland maiden special weight in his debut back in October. He's facing winners for the first time, but a $350,000 son of classic empire. I think he'll like to turns just fine. And this is a race where you can go on a lot of different ways, but classic moment for me. Classic moments certainly looks like he's one of the ones I'm worried about him getting the two turns, and that's the only reason I didn't put him on top. I'm certainly using him in my exotic plays and in my horizontal plays, but I'm worried that he may be bred to be more of a sprinter than a router. So we'll see how he does, going around two turns the speed figures say yes, the breeding says maybe. Breeding wise, I think number 9 Osbourne may be a little bit more apt to handling the two turns being by tapper and especially on the damn side out of a rock hard ten mayor. I think with those two scratches that you mentioned, it will help Osborne more than anyone else in the field. I honestly didn't think either of those horses that were scratched were two of the main contenders in this race, but now that Osbourne is only breaking from the 7 hole and not from the 9 hole, that's certainly going to help him with the short run to the first turn. And I liked what I saw from him going 7 furlongs at Churchill last time out. I think he'll have a good time of it going around two turns. We'll see if Julian la Peru can work out a trip from what is still not the best post position breaking from the outside in the two turn mile. But Osborne for me, classic moment for Dave in tonight's springboard. By the way, neither of us mentioned number three bye bye Bobby. Is this a horse that you're just taking a stand against or do you just think he's good enough? Really hard call for me $870,000 son equality road. I have no idea what to do with the race from xia park, a win was not bet down to the favored in a 7 horse field, the stakes race, not a maiden race, that race. I just have no idea and he needs to prove it to me. He, he might be much the best in here. Didn't get a great speed figure, but to me it's a way to watch one more and see what it looks like. Yeah, I'm wondering how much the pace in that race really helped his chances. He came from 7 or 8 links back, but for some reason, maidens are not maidens, but two year olds at Zia went 21 and two 43 and two and then bye bye Bobby was able to run by them all. Who knows? Maybe he's just a monster in the making, and that was just the stepping stone to bigger and better things. But it sounds like both of us are going to try to take at least a little bit of a shot against bye bye bye bye bye Bobby, who could be one of the favorites in tonight's springboard mile reminder there's a $200,000 guaranteed late pick for pool tonight at Remington, still plenty of time to handicap the first of those races. I think goes at about 9 25 or so Eastern Time looking at the fact 9 25 central time. I apologize. Race ten, 9, 25 central time begins their late pick for what that couple $100,000 guarantee. So still plenty of time to get your handicapping in. Okay, let's jump to tomorrow's action and we'll go up to aqueduct where they've got a couple of nice New York stallion series events and race number 6 is the great white way division of the New York stallion series. These are New York bred two year olds running for a $500,000 per 7 furlongs on the main track at aqueduct. Big field of 11 to go to post here. And I thought this was a wide open event Dave. The morning line favorite is number three masta for Linda rice and era can sell coming off a decent third place finish in the Central Park on the turf last time out. I think it's as wide open as it gets and I have no conviction whatsoever. This is not a race that I'm going to be betting individually. Maybe in a pick four pick 5 not one horse that I particularly like in here maceta and genome number three and number 6 are two of the favorites in the morning line. They've both run three times. They've both run all three of their races on turf. So now trying dirt for the first time and both of them are cutting back from a mile and a 16th on the sod for a one turn 7 furlong race is trained by Linda rice like you mentioned and Linda really, really good going turf to dirt about 29% whereas David dong, the trainer of Geno not good with two year olds, about 5% and not good turf to dirt about 6%. So I like mazzetta among those two. Masthead is my top choice, but boy, you can go a million different ways here. Linda has another in here safa laws mission number four Jose Ortiz will ride 8 to one has not won a race a maiden over two, but it's run okay in two maiden races. I think certainly as possible, Danny garcon off a claim has Hoboken Jack number 7 on the morning line 15 to one guard and his tremendous off the claim wins about one out of three. I think that's a possibility. Kenner for Jamie Ness, a horse that's been running mostly in the mid Atlantic, but did win a race at Belmont park 6 to one on the morning line. I think it's possible. I have no big opinion, I think you can go a lot of ways. Okay, so you're Masada is your top selection in this race? Yep. Okay, I'm going to go with the other Linda rice training number four sappho's mission. I think that Jose Ortiz is going to be riding the better of the two Linda rice runners. Even though Eric can't sell has ridden more lately, for Linda rice, that's back when that's when all the Chad browns and the Todd pledgers and the bill mods and everyone are there and.

"Listen she was good enough to be within two lengths of gha mean. That's good enough to win. Just about any filly and mare sprint. There is in the country. And you know what camin isn't in this race lake and lake avenue for both me and dave in the grey to gallant bloom. Quarter million dollar race goes as the ninth on the card sunday at belmont park. Well mentioned earlier. That sunday is a huge day at remington park. It's really their marquee. They've got steaks all up and down there. Sunday program dave and we're going to take a look at a couple of them starting with race number eight. It's the two hundred thousand dollar grade. Three remington park oaks for the three year. Old fillies going a mile and a sixteenth on the main track. We've got a field of seven here a lot of very very talented runners. The morning line favorite is number. One pollings pearl coming off a couple of in the money finishes charlestown and prairie meadows. Or last two. She actually ran a decent race in the grade. One kentucky oaks prior to that drawn well toward the inside. She makes sense as the favorite. But i she certainly doesn't lay over this field. I just don't think she's beaten anybody. That makes me abundantly confident. She fits for sure and may win. And you have to respect asked me sending santana and stonecrest. I'm just not like blown away very very viable for sure. The number seven lady mystify coming in from southern california for peterman and fluffy and prod going to show speed in this race. The figs earl glow. But i'm interested. Throw out the last blade in that race prior to against not a whole lot were really really good but the one i like best is amendment. Nineteen for brad cox. You don't know first. Time trying to turns but i think the last race a pretty good second at saratoga. It's says it's an hour race but one hundred thousand dollars. Non winners of one other maiden lifetime that race came back reasonably well. And that's where. I'm going. Brad cox first time training twenty six percent horse coming out of a race. Saratoga i feel best about amendment nineteen okay. We're on the same philly once again amendment. Nineteen for me for everything that you said. listen. I don't think she leaves over the field but i think she has more upside than just about everyone because she only has three races lifetime she. She goes from one very good barn to another from linda. Rice to brad cox But being by constitution. I don't think the mile and a sixteenth distance will hurt her. She's she's kind of got greenware. She's bread more for a route on the on the top side and more for a sprint out of carson city on the dan side well. She's run pretty well at six furlongs. Seven furlongs in a one turn mile us far trying to turn for the first time. Yes there are question marks. But i believe in her. I believe in trainer. Brad cox and i certainly believe in jockey joel. Rosario seventy-two on the morning line. I think that's a fair price for amendment. Nineteen we both like her in the grade. Three remington park oaks race eight on the remington card. This sunday the marquee event on sunday at remington park is the grade three oklahoma derby race number eleven. Four hundred thousand dollars on the line..

"And we'll talk later with nick. We'll do some. We'll do some capping i. It carts spun today Absolutely have some opportunities I actually when it came to the The play of the day. Today i ended up going to the second race. We'll talk about it in a little bit. Call me harry. The nine Was the where. I landed with zero. Stretch out sprinter. There's a lot there's a lot of sprinters stretching out in that second race to a mile and that usually prompts pace so here's a closing sprinter and in rosario hands i think I thought call me. Harry attend to one i mean. There's there's horses that are you know more logical but tend to one Was i thought it was an attractive price. Let me certainly coulthard. Cash the horse to beat mary much doors. The beat for linda rice on the rail with jani who's Trying to heat up. I'm trying to chinese trying to get some wins. All right let me set the stage here for everything else going on In addition to kneel passan we'll We'll talk to mike campbell and a kind of an odd pair of of stories from yesterday and into today that are really on opposite ends of the of the scale in one particular scenario Churchill announcing yesterday the adding some of the specifics to those projects that were discussed derby week the lead up to derby one fifty and the ongoing renovations and modernization and maximization of churchill with three distinct projects one in the grandstand a complete refresh and the first turn project and then now a the third project a complete reimagining of the paddock. In time for derby one fifty. So i mean you. Investment and and constant Really the remaking of churchill Has been one of the most amazing things i i. I started my first time. There was ninety nine. And you know what's gone on in twenty two years. I is was already remarkable but By the time you get to derby one fifty it that'll be completely from from from from nose detail Re the magic thing At at churchill on the other end is well. We'll discuss with mike campbell Which is the just the the sadness and difficulties and frustrations associated arlington. And it appears that that churchill's not even going to ask for placeholder dates for twenty twenty two. There had been some hope that that might that might come to pass and that would at least leave the door open for racing interests that are hoping to.
