"Linda. Good morning, Linda. Welcome to friend Nancy. How are you, Amar Unpopular How I am Kalen Kalen says you're a dinosaur that you won't exist. But you're willing to call up here and say that you were popular and you are popular. You said throughout, admitted on their wedding in white, You know, kind of tongue in cheek, but yeah, and you know what it helps in sales. It does because you're used to, like chatting up a room and write, you know, never never was afraid to go up and speak to someone I don't know. And You know, you know I am a dinosaur. So now all the people that buy from me they look at me like who's this old B? No, No, no, I didn't. I didn't mean dinosaur like your old man Dinosaur, Like like your rare or extinct like that. You wouldn't know a unicorn. Well, I just meant extinct. I meant like that. People were going to call up here and say they were popular. But you're willing to call up here and say that you are not that you're old Linda. You said I'm probably older than you. I'm older than everybody. What kind of sales do you do? Linda? Oh, boring. Just toys, toys. What kind of toys with no bread? Not like a real like Toy department like that. Linda Linda thing That's really interesting was going to say, Linda. That's why you're popular, Depending what toys you sell it. So you sell you sell? What? I think you call it here before, haven't you? Maybe once or twice because I feel like we've heard about toy sales lady before. But who do you sell toys to like to actually go to toy stores and say Buy, You know whatever. Well, you know, big box like quality target, But yeah, you know what kind of toys Yeah. Toys like maybe want them? Yeah. Patrol goes my way. My son would love all these toys. Boy..

"We asked Linda to hold on through the break and Linda Linda at retirement age. Her and her husband have kind of a point where they've got Be different Objectives. Linda. They both have a business in the same business is separate businesses. Linda would like to sell hers and transition away and it sounds like her husband wants to double down. He sounds like he's been buying some other little businesses and and self financing them and So, Linda, you're still with us. I am. Okay. So this is interesting, but not completely unusual. What we're seeing here is ah, There's a divergence between the two of you on risk and lifestyle. So let's be 10. You would just let's pretend you had a transaction closed today. Linda. Um, and next week you're no longer working. What's the next couple years? Look like for you like, what do you do in the Get up? Do you go to the grocery store and shop for seven hours? You go play tennis you What's your life? Going home? What? What does it look like? So that's that's a good question, because I ask myself that the other day and it was like, I don't really have an answer because I've been so busy doing what I've done and I also Had another career. On top of that. I was really working double double duty for about eight years, and I just burned out. Soto asked myself that I probably travel, you know, other than what's going on right now. That would be, um, you know, he's set aside and our little planner about $20,000 a year for traveling, and I said Wow. I need supply. Know how my wife likes to travel. So you know I would travel. I take some cooking classes that I just I Would he Right? And I'm sorry, but he travel with you if he was working Yes, he could do that, Okay? Because the one thing about the coveted working from working remotely is much more acceptable now. And even with client interactions of a cz, you know, obviously because you've been doing probably zoom or one of those like that yourself for the last few months. Yeah, There's nothing like doing a meeting with a nice dress you're on and a pair of shorts. So so often times were both practicing financial advisors. That's how we started the business. 30 years ago when we've and oftentimes couples will and I'm not here. We're not pitching yourself. I'm just talking about the process of meeting with an advisor. Oftentimes couples will come in With just like this will have different visions of their future. And some say, like I'm ready retire now, and the other one thinks It would not like myself person. I'm 54 I I have my financially prepared for retirement, but I hope never to retire. I don't think it would be good for me. In lots of ways in the industry really is we've been asked, Why would you even sell? It's one of those similar to yours? It just it will continue to pay out of the out until Deserved it Self got. So what? What? What if use? What if you sold your business, and you guys had some meeting of the mind of how much risk his business might put on the family finances Because that's what your concern would be like. Look, I suddenly sound my business. We've gotta finances shored up. What happens if I mean, we saw covert 19 come from nowhere right, and we saw the havoc it rattled on some business is right. I think, if anything, it's just a good reminder that no business is immune. Even the ones you think that the nothing that ever could happen to it. Who knows? Right? So I think your concern would be what happens of my my husband's business pursuits. Something goes south there and damages our finances and your retirement. So but I think you constructorsstandings such away and have some agreement to say like these are the course. We're going to focus on is a couple to make sure our finances their secure you go into you sell your business and retire. Obviously, he's not going to have 24 7 to go goof off with you, but he lost the work. He loved to work. He's so good at what he does. Andi. I really proud of him for that. And what would he be like? So let me ask you this. Let's say that you Ah, you really worked on him and got him convinced him to sell his business. And now he's retired. What he is that the guy you want to spend your time with Yeah, I Yes, I know what I'm saying is, what would he be happy and in playing tennis all day long. Hey, there he is. He's an awesome guy. He would be happy during even go shopping with me. So he's before those kind of guys really my wife's not kidding. They're so just Well. I did laundry this morning, said photo by one's clothes. I fooled my wife's clothes and my daughter who's living with they came in and said You do a terrible job voting close. And then she wrote, folded everything I folded for my life Perfect. And I'm thinking I'm gonna get close. I want to get out of the house. I do poorly that way. I'm going to get partial credit for this. So your situation, So here's what I look at you you're trying to do you want a lifestyle change, and you want to lower your risk. My my fear would be is that he might increase the risk you pay off the mortgage. He feels a little bit cover. By the way. You mentioned that money in the bank and the borrower money 2% more. You should just pay that off. That's just silly. That's silly because you don't have access to the money anyway. So it's not like having any. It's the bank borrowed lent you money and they borrowed money from you and then let it back to you hire at a higher rate. That's just so you want to put that on, and that decision was made in a moment of time under understand, understand, understand that's irrelevant. What brought you to this point? This is where you are. So with his long as you can actually set up a formula in terms of to mitigate how many companies he's buys as A debt services a percentage of revenue or net income, and you can live within those parameters. I'd be comfortable with that. Which means look, you could continue to buy these companies. But your debt service can't ever more personal guarantees. No personal or it can't be any more than 25% of Revenues, which is exactly by the way the way large institutions lend.

Democratic primary results: Biden projected to win Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri
"Coast CBS news projecting this evening that the former vice president Joe Biden wins the Mississippi primary the Missouri primary and also the primary in Michigan we are still waiting for still waiting for results from North Dakota where the polls closed own bonus now and a half ago or so and again we've got some big races coming up later on this evening in Idaho and Washington state were watching I want to go to the CBS news election desk right now Steven Portnoy joins us here you heard about the incidents and and and the and the difficulties they had at the polls in Michigan at least according to the US secretary of state they've got some the they they got some things to hassle out in house obviously when it comes to this sort of thing but the fact of the matter she said that you know it's a good day for young voters overall in the state but as Peter Maher noted Stephen the young voters for Bernie Sanders once again like last week just didn't get there to get him over the top well they certainly are supporting Bernie Sanders but they're not coming out in greater numbers than they did four years ago and what seems to be the case is Bernie Sanders under performing with some of the key demographics that he did so well it was a game with against Hillary Clinton where he four years ago he he won this primary eke out a victory with one and a half percent more support than Hillary Clinton but now according to the rock tabulated vote it looks like Joe Biden has a lead of something close to thirteen percentage points with fifty nine percent of the expected vote in so Joe Biden is winning in Michigan Missouri Mississippi with majorities of the vote it's a two man race and now Biden has more than fifty percent in the case of Mississippi cynical more than eighty percent of the vote and as so the challenge for Bernie Sanders going forward is is is going to be admitted to justify its continued presence in the race if most of the voters in the states are choosing the other guy now obviously a candidate can stay in it until you hit that magic number the time press mentioned earlier one thousand nine hundred ninety one delegates but if Joe Biden continues amassing the majority in each of the states and and you know there's no telling what's going to happen tonight in Washington or Idaho or North Dakota but so far the three M. contests have Biden winning most of the delegates it's going to be difficult for for Sanders to argue that he has a chance here now we're only at the halfway point but so far the momentum is squarely behind Joe Biden what can change that Sunday's debate in Phoenix it's going to be very interesting that debate will not have a studio audience it will not have a spin room it will not even have work space for reporters to write their stories all because of the corona virus and what we're seeing in our exit poll is that voters in the states where we've asked say that Joe Biden is that the man they trust most in a crisis and right now bill this country to a significant degree is facing a crisis of the coronavirus Steven Portnoy at the election desk we wanna go back to Michigan right now and welcome in Macomb county executive mark Hackel just north of Detroit to the north and east of Detroit first of all I want to ask you a little bit about so we just heard from the secretary of state there about the number of absentee ballots coming in and maybe the lack of resources to get him counted and to get people registered at the same time did you see any evidence of that in your county today yeah we have it with some of the local townships and some of the other cities right now we got all the precincts in right now but the eighties are still slow to come in and you know everyone of them that said the same thing the the the clerks working in those offices it was a tremendous amount of Evey voters assignment quite honestly some of the problems were that people have already turned them in you know and then a couple weeks ago some of the other candidates dropped off people and say you know what I want to go to school on my ballot not going to get a new belt because the candidate that I want that I did vote for dropped out so it did cause a lot of questions you know if the house to go play out the rest of the night but I gotta tell your Macomb county it is pretty clear you will not be easy the other that Biden is going to be the person prevailing Ericom county which you know is already always credited by the trump administration is kind of helping him win Michigan which of us open win the election but I think things are gonna change this time just based upon these preliminary numbers from the of the people voting at the precinct hello Sir my name is Peter Mayer I think of all the time in the past century when I was assigned to cover voters in your fine county where the where the term Reagan Democrat was invented of course of working class area went reliably for Democrats for years and then Ronald Reagan won about two thirds of the voting eighty four is it still a real bellwether place from here I think you're right I think what you know if you look back you know that the people the division during nature of Bill Clinton they voted for him Ronald Reagan same thing yeah there's a kind of a fine that they had the candy and the same thing even with the Bronco Bama people very supportive and you know he won local county but this past election twenty sixteen it wasn't that I think it was a single discontent with the party the Democratic Party and that the Canada prevailed so with Hillary Clinton and pope folks decide to stay on the order that they loved Donald Trump I think it was just like okay you know the day that he had a strong following a strong supporter Macomb county if you prevail because people decided they didn't want to vote for elderly state all you did some of the yeah I guess normally looked upon as being a blue collar worker said you know what I'm going to open this guy because I'm upset about you know the party itself but I don't see that happening this time around I think that you're gonna find is there's been people talking about how do we find a candidate that they believe could beat Donald Trump and for some reason you know people within the party are they are selecting your biting at this time saying we don't trust that Bernie is going to be make it through people will probably stay at home and not vote for him once again kind of Linda Linda support inadvertently to to Donald Trump so I don't see that that feeling of warmth that he once had he's been a struggle he being Donald Trump the president here in the compound effect tomorrow mechanicals account executive in Macomb county just outside of Detroit thanks for joining us this evening we appreciate it sounds like we'll be talking to you again in November you bet thank all right I want to go to the Sanders campaign right now kera court is embedded with the campaign and they are in Burlington Vermont tonight have you heard anything more care about Mister Sanders plans for this evening is going to speak we haven't heard anything we got off the press plane earlier this evening in in Burlington and we were told to maybe stand by that the senator might be speaking to us tonight we know that he's at home watching results and we haven't heard an update so I with every minute that ticks by it seems like it might be you coming less and less likely that we're going to hear from the center tonight especially if these results continue to comment and not look so good for the senator so we're hoping we're hoping to hear from him tomorrow but right now we're not expecting to hear from him tonight all rights are C. B. S. server K. campaign reporter cara corner who's with the Bernie Sanders campaign again supposed to be in Cleveland tonight but home in Burlington Vermont Joe Biden is in Philadelphia tonight he was also supposed to be in Cleveland but no election rallies tonight because of the concerns about the corona virus will have more on this coming up in just a bit but they're just getting word that and Yang former presidential candidate on the democratic side is says that he is endorsing Joe Biden after he kind of waited a week to see how things played out we're gonna hear a little bit of that coming up in just a little bit in the meantime thank you for joining us democratic primary coverage continues from

That's why I asked about that movie. I wore those your commitment not too long ago but did you know I had the prostitute by not bad not bad game. I think it's I like the look but but I don't think if she's wearing pants. The high boots since. When do you get penalized for wearing more clothing? But it's something about the over the knee boot that only if there there's a short skirt though okay so as long as she's not in a skirt we're going to be okay with it. Yeah jeans any problem with that. Okay well I need to know what other people think that. I'm looking at the Front of the pretty woman movie. POSTER SU Super Short skirts over the knee boots right. That's very different and hers. Or like a he'll have a he'll he'll they would either be flat. It'll be flat. No he'll like. I could find a flat pair. That goes over like she doesn't need also a tall boot over the with. He'll that'd be much more going to ask you about this. What do you think about twelve year? Old Girl wearing really tall boots. I will agree that not not with a skirt or anything and as long as they don't have a he'll I think that when they have a heel and you wear it with a dress or a skirt does make it look more of a sexy vibe so definitely as long as those two. Things aren't part of it. I think you're good songs. We find a sporty over the me. I just think the over the neat thing is not not that bad. It's just what's way overseas. He's GONNA lose her mind if I give her a pair of over the me for Christmas. This 'cause I've told her straight up. No no way. "To put it this way. President Trump in politics to quote, the Rolling Stones. You can't always get what you want. But you can try sometimes, and that's exactly what the house and Senate negotiators from both houses of congress attempted to do house speaker Nancy Pelosi says those negotiators are to be commended, and I had confidence that they would left to their own devices. Get the job done both houses of congress must finish the job and get to President Trump's desk for his signature before the Friday night deadline. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell says he's hopeful the president will like what he sees. In the Bill provides generally one point four billion for new barriers and the border patrol's highest priority areas enough to build nearly twice as many miles as we're funded last year while the president has said, he's not completely happy with the Bill. He's also said he doesn't want another government shutdown house minority leader Kevin McCarthy suggests maybe this will make him happier. Does it fund all the way? No. But we also have other tools to utilize that for the point about the house and the Senate leadership may be trying to hit the gas on passing the Bill the conservative house freedom caucus is trying to hit the brakes the caucus is offering a one week stop. Gap funding Bill or continuing resolution members say it will give lawmakers more time to read the Bill before they vote on the budget, but their chances of succeeding at delaying the voter poor best since Democrats have the majority control in the house and to the freedom caucus and all other members of the house and Senate who might be balking at the Bill. Oh, yeah. Okay. Very very painful, but until they can do the fusion or surgery they discovered I had a ninety ninety five percents. Provided artery blockage. So I have been I switched to excellent hospital in southern California. One of the best. I was a very good vascular surgeon and. Make a long story. Short seven months. And they have done nothing. The hospitals done nothing. Gen vascular surgeon, okay tests. And now, he's bumped me. Again, I am an HMO. And that is get another hospital. Get another doctor right now he stops. It doesn't matter. I understand. So he's top. So you can invite him to invite him to the funeral and give them a place of honor broccoli there. Okay. Then then you don't want another surgeon is time to get another surgeon. Absolutely. Yes. Okay. There you go. Yeah. Won't do surgery for nine months. She's gonna die. Now. It's a hell of a case after she dies. It's a very strong case. All right. Well, hi will welcome. Hi, bill. Yes. Yes. I was wondering I brought my car to mechanic, and I needed a prepared on it. And he charged me about six hundred dollars on diagnosis. All can't find the problem need to do more work to do more work when he assured me what the problem was it ended up costing me about a thousand dollars out the door during that time. He informed me that my car about who has never shown any signs of any issues that I'll let you ever completely that cannot be charged. He had replaced it for two hundred dollars. Get the car back because they're not any better. I brought it back to him. He taught me another ninety dollars just for looking at it. And. You're not gonna fix it. All right. So what's your question? What's your question? Okay. So I'm taking them to small claims court. I wanna know if I can go after his life. Already expected. He has no money here. Okay. Okay. You go after his license. Let me ask you do. You do you know any relatives of his who have a license, maybe, lawyers and nurses? Anybody? I suggest you do some research and find out if anybody who is close to him has a license because not only can you go after his license. You can go after their license. For example. Let's say you have someone who is a barber right or works in a hair, cutting salon. You can you can take away their license. No. We can't go after his license. All you can do is sue him. And if he doesn't have any money, you are, and I want you to look this up S O L. Okay. That's a legal doctrine, you know, that don't you? Yeah. Yeah. You are screwed beyond screwed. Okay. I love that isn't that special? All right, norm. Hi, norm. Hey, yes, sir way. Listen, you every morning, my wife, and I love your cheerful sarcasm direct, correct? Okay. To literary questions for you Bill because I'm so literary I understand because. Yes. Because you're so literate. Yes. I'm I've written one book, and I'm writing another one. And then the first book we held off on publication because we were worried about we we describe a couple of experiences in hotels, and it was all positive nothing negative. And we were wondering if those hotels would do try and do anything to us legally because we talk about them, and we give their name to the hotel. No matter of fact, even if they were negative, and you give your name to the whole. Yeah. You give the hotel name out. The what you can't do is make stuff up in a negative way. That's defamation. What go ahead? No, go ahead yourself. All right. So let's say you're accusing the hotel of having bedbugs in your story, and you name the hotel. I don't want to name any names, but Hilton Mariot right Wyndham. Let's just go through the names. What was the name of the hotel? Don't wanna say that on the air Bill. Why they don't know who you are. Well, actually, truthfully. I'm I'm not sure. All right fair enough. It's been it's been a few years. Yeah. Okay. Fair enough, by the way, they couldn't go after you because there is a just to let you know, you've heard of the attorney client privilege there is a there is a hotel show privileged. That's recognize under the law. So they couldn't is that what he had. You know? I can't remember which hotel. I don't have it here in front of me. I'm sure it's there. Now, the point is is that let's say there is a horrible experience. And you're disparaging the hotel if it's true. There's no defense. There's no such thing as defamation to the truth is an absolute defense, by the way, they're not gonna go after if you say, okay there, bedbugs, or the people were horrible. And if you're talking about a non disparaging remark, if you're talking about something that's positive that happens. Not only is there. No disparagement not only is there in a lawsuit for defamation because it's not defamation. They're getting a commercial. Yeah. That was kind of my take out so much, by the way. What kind what kind of book do you, right? Well, the first book was a travel experience that was done in sort of a novel Listrik and real time. You know, strangely enough. I probably didn't read it. How did he do? It didn't do because we put it on. Hold. Okay. Worried about legally knowing that you don't hire a lawyer. I understand don't you don't have to worry about that. Because the fact that it hasn't been published yet there's not going to be a whole lot of difference when you publish it. Terms of sales. Okay. What's your next book that you're working on the the second one? This is a book about a period of time in my life. I guess you could call it a memoir that takes place in Mexico. And now part of it involves a very well-known cancer clinic in Mexico. Okay. And there was an extremely negative scenario involved with us with it's very famous cancer clinic. What I did in the second books is I changed the name of the hospital and all the doctors and made it as unrecognizable good. Then you're fine. I two as it though. There's there's little detail. There's getting long Mexico where it is. It's the only cancer clinic. And it's very well know, all right. So big deal. In the meantime, here is I'm gonna give you a reality check. Okay. Let's say there's defamation. Right. And there's a it didn't happen. There's legitimate. You're giving your issuing fact stating facts that are not true. So now, you have a case to things have to happen number one people have to give a raps about what happened to you. And they don't right. So I wouldn't worry because all three people to read the book, it really doesn't matter. Number two. They're going to be three people are going to read the book. They're never going to hear about it. And if they do they're not suing you, so don't worry about it. Enjoy your. Yourself defame them just have time of your life. Couple rules. Sure. It's that you don't make facts and number two is as often as possible. Make it your opinion. Okay. For example. It is my opinion that when they operated on me, they took out my diaphragm. But that's just my opinion. I really don't know if they don't believe you can have a diaphragm. Well, there you are. Okay. Thanks for the call. This is handle on the law. There's Julie Slater. Julie what's going on hurricane Michael now? A tropical storm has swept across six states killing more than a dozen people causing flash flooding, leaving.

"Right so you know i think it's a little little early to say you out his legacy is gonna look like but yeah i also think you know he was you know like we're not such a good writer it's hard to imagine opinions aren't going to get quoted disproportionately yeah like you know there's some hard questions about like the results reach are they gonna clearly hold up or not but i mean his his way of talking and thinking and specific lines from his opinions they're just gonna last in ways that you know justice jackson such a great writer quoted all the time in part for that you know for that reason right yeah exactly when you're brief writer you're really searching for something that sounds good be to explain it principle so i think that's quite right i also wanted to note by the way we heard from a lot of people who you know we talk a lot with linda linda has very strong opinions about the court about the right results that the court should reach she has formed those opinions obviously over many decades of writing and thinking about the court and so we heard from a lot of people who thought you know this is this is awfully strong medicine and i think that's right you know i i don't think that she herself would deny that her opinions are strong medicine and my philosophy with the show has always been know i wanna let our guests talk and express themselves and we don't agree with everything that everybody who comes in the show says you know there's a lot we talked about a lot of it that and i agree on we invited or incur to talk about carpenter subject unite disagreed about for a decade and let him explain his views we had me sean to talk about partisan gerrymandering where he and i think you and he have disagreements maybe about the right answer i think it's the you know the show works best when i we sort of trust the listeners to hear opinions they don't necessarily agree with.
