You'll find I think he has some very interesting comments when it comes to his his quarterbacks and assistant at Oklahoma. All Right? Let's get to that conversation. Here's our interview. We had a little bit earlier with Homa. Head coach Lincoln Riley. Well very excited to have Oklahoma head coach Lincoln. Riley joins us now and coach. I guess first question for you. During the very uncertain times. We find ourselves in right now. Have you had a chance to communicate at all with your team about what's going on in the world? Thanks for having me, we certainly have it's. It's like you said it's A. It's certainly interesting. Times are now so much going on in the world with the pandemic. Then all it's going on in our country right now so. That's a topic that's very near, and dear to all of us, and so we have we been able to communicate with our players both on. first and foremost making sure they're okay. second having great productive discussions about all. That's going on in the world, and and how we can. One be a great example to use our platform to peacefully tastefully well thought out manner to. A you need time when you're a young coach. You trying to figure out. How do I handle the messaging to the team? Are they mentors people that you can lean on to Kinda ideas? Yeah absolutely in all some of great ones that I've been able to work with you. Know Bob. Stoops was kind of the ultimate at situations like this I always integrate pulse of the team and the right way to navigate through difficult times. And then you know Ruffin McNeill. How do I handle the messaging to the team? Are they mentors? The people that you can lean on to kind of bounce ideas off of. Yeah absolutely in all some of the ones that I've been able to work with you know Bob stoops was kind of the ultimate at situations like this I felt like always had a great pulsa, the team, and and the right way to navigate through difficult times and then. Ruffin McNeill. Has always been a been a great friend and somebody that I've leaned on another guy that handled. Any tough time so so well to the years, and had such a great bond with his players, and so that events events several, but those two in particular. So it's, it's challenging. Right I. If you're in a leadership position like Lincoln, Riley all these college head coaches. You've gotta find a way to be encouraging to your team to listen to your team. To deliver the right words, and he also talked in this in this conversation about having mentors that have helped guide him through this period of time, which is very important. Yeah, the mentors, your pieces is important, not only from a player to coach or coast player, but also coast to coach. He talked about two guys that really impacted him Bob Stoops and Ruffin McNeill and I'll talk about Ruffin McNeill because Russia. Russia McNeil was a longtime coach at East. Carolina Lower East Carolina actually gave Lincoln Riley an opportunity to office quarter very early in his career at East Carolina. Ruffin joined eventually joined Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma and it. Kinda played into rolling. T stepped away to take care of an ailing family member to be able to have someone that you can lean on that. You can have these hard conversations with that you. You can kind of rely on their opinion to help..

See more less of that jump and it's going to be interesting to watch and I think we're going to figure out right away. Who really did a good job of taking care of their body? And you did a good job of being in the weight room and finding areas in ways they could during this pandemic to to get better because I got news for you, Bro, the video games easy to pop on, and you put your headset on, and you talk to your boys and. Hot outside I don't really WANNA. Go outside. I don't really have a space to go to I. Don't have a trainer on all the code Blah Blah Blah. We'll see who put in time and that's. I spoke to a bunch of teams this offseason Kevin. And I've spoke to a spoke to four or five college teams, and I told him, I say I told them all the same thing. When it's September and you're playing games for college football and the fans are watching and millions of people are watching it on TV. Don't nobody give a crap about a pandemic? And nobody saw it was a rough off season. They'll be looking at you. Saying you suck, or you're good, and you determine that today this off season. If you'RE GONNA, put in time, or you're going to be a lazy bum and play video games and finding excuse or find a reason to make an excuse, and you know when that time comes out. Think we're going to put in work. Who didn't. Lincoln touch a little bit about the playmakers to I mean they lose CD lab when you look at Rambo there, you look at the idea that they're running backs. No matter who it is at the back you'll they keep coming in fresh Kennedy Brooks? I just I'm I. Really liked this team to be in the final four conversation once again just because of the the magic of Lincoln Riley. What he does with quarterbacks? Why in their own in this conference you'd I mean they're doing. They're doing a great job of Dominate the big twelve and I think you'll continue to see that because offense. Kind of step of ahead of everybody now last year. Jalen hurts I. Think covered up some of the words because I. Don't think they were good upfront like we're used to accustomed to seeing the years before. They've Kinda struggled. In the running game was still good in his creativity was still good. I! Think this year is going to be the most competitive year. We've seen in the big twelve. You know obviously got Sam Elliott coming back. I will state I. Think is going to be another good team I? Start, looking across TCU's returning a bunch of guys obviously lose a bunch of guys, too, but every year it's GonNa be good. I think there's going to be a little bit more parody more close games. Than we've seen the past with Oklahoma, but they're definitely the favourite until they until they don't become until lose actually the big twelve they'll. They'll lows spots being the favorites of the Patriots Right now, right? No, Tom Brady they dominated their division for six thousand years I'm going to see it when I believe it when somebody else wins the league now when you bring up, the Patriots bring up the coach right bill belichick. He knows what he's doing, and it brings us back to Lincoln Riley do appreciate him joining. Joining us here on the college football podcast, it's great to have you back with us. "Program and thanks for joining us here in the college football podcast. Thank you guys. They'll stay healthy and pajamas on. Good stuff for Lincoln Riley. There He had a short window in a conversation with US and We do want to talk to us anymore. I. Got A lot on his plate and one of the things that you know we talk a little bit about Oklahoma last year was year one of Alex grinch and you big band of the defensive coordinator I mean this is year two and he gets a lot of guys back on that defensive side that that stand out and what you look at Oklahoma. That's the one thing that has been the theme, right? We know what they can do on offense. Can they stop anybody? You think about twenty twenty and the idea of stopping people at least giving that offense another chance to get back on the field well. They took steps in the right direction a year ago. I'm not saying it was perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but you WanNa, take you know those steps in that direction and continued to improve now listen if you want to go to the lsu game. lsu Did that to everybody. Okay. lsu Made Alabama look stupid. Lsu May Georgia look stupid. Everyone look stupid so i. think what you've got a point, too. Is that offense in just? His is amazing knack to last year's often throw. Throw Com was totally different than we're used to sing. It was totally jalen hurts wheels dependent. It was it was not a rhythm timing. Take shots down the field. pinpoint accuracy that we've seen from the quarterback position in Lincoln Riley it seamlessly. So why would you not expect that to happen again and again and again and again if I'm looking Riley, I just go to the top quarterback every year in high school football. I'm like Baker Mayfield column. Marriage hurts you I mean. What are you ready to so I'm like here's my just signed a letter of intent. Right here like this is what we're. GonNa do for you like. It makes things very simple, so I think the offense is going to continue to grow, not can the defensive side. Can they find more playmakers? Canine, Kenneth Berry obviously a big time playmaker first round Pick Melvin Gallimore gone. defensive tackle probably their best interior player, so I think. Can they continue to find guys on that side of the football that can. They can be studs, not just offensively when you're talking about offensive. Obviously, CD, land, being gone, they've already dealt with injuries, too at the right spot, so they're gonNA. Be They're going to be less. Experienced on offense I think. It'll be interesting to watch them because I don't think they're going to be what they've been defensively. Can they make up for it and get to the final four again? By the way because all Lincoln Riley does is put teams in the College Football playoff. That's all he does. Literally. That's all he's done since he's been there at home every single year. I think we forget that dude's thirty six lang. He's and he's still do he does. He's done it. It every year and by the way I think it's because I haven't listened to him. Talk like if you don't think players respect that and appreciate that 'cause. I don't think he sugar coats think he's honest I. think he's respectful I. Think I think he's got a good pulse of who he is and what he wants, and I think he gives out to his players, and that's why is really good at what helps also when you're bringing in a quarterback. That's that like. He said that that that knows the system, but doesn't have the Game Reps. It helps that you have an experience offensive line. They're going to have an experience offensive line, and that that is that works leaps and bounds here. When we talk about, this is going to be a theme, I think all season for college football in the NFL, being familiar with the system, right? You brought that up when you're different. You're going to be a freshman this year more than ever right. Are you familiar with everything and and when you have experienced on that offensive line that is. Is? That is a big big deal. When whoever wins the battle between rattler and Mordechai, they've been high on rattler for years, a highly touted coming in and just biding his time and work is done the same thing if you're the backup at Oklahoma, do you have the patience to wait? Because if not, you're going to transfer out what we saw. You know with Austin Kendall. Are you going to be patient to see or is there somebody else gonna come in and take your spot? And here's A. Great, it's great to be in the system, and and I think being in the system last year is is a huge deal because you get to see the weekend and week out changes who we are what we are now last year I say Oklahoma's offense is way different than it's been the past the off season. We can talk all. We want more meeting time meetings. Don't mean crap meetings being very little. The players players don't there tuned out there. And listen. I, this comes from somebody who experienced this was this was that you tune out? You get you get you get better by wraps, and you get better by watching yourself on tape. Screw it up and then come in the next day and try to fix it and the next day and trying to fix not having spring ball, not having all season you know weight room program. The last several months makes a huge huge difference..

Biggest Takeaways from Week 1 of College Football
"From the never ending drama of Antonio brown and the raiders to another week of college football let's bring in ESPN college football insider Phil Steele for some insight and Phil before we look ahead let's look back what was the biggest thing you learned from week one of the biggest challenges that the group of five does have a chance to go on when I woke magazine I thought all the group of five teams would have one boss became wait very impressed with boys the Cincinnati you see Arafat I think there is a legitimate chance of group product he does run the Cablevision I was focused on the to ABC gamestop Franklin to getting number twelve Texas a and M. Saturday afternoon Trevor large through a pair picks the Tigers opener offense paced by A. T. and in the ground game what do you need to see from Lawrence against the Aggies. well how about a performance I mean I expected server once the clearly the best quarterback in college football this year I don't think he will be white guys going to have to cut down on the intersections and then last year only had nine interceptions born of sections in the open so they're going to improve secondary I think that's going to be the key because Colin mind I believe will move the football I love Clemson be part to took over four hundred yards last year it comes in at a great defense of one they accounted for four touchdowns in the opener as well it's a top ten match up on Saturday night later on Ellis you getting Texas Sam L. in Europe and borrow both combined for nine touchdown passes last week what are you expecting when they do step on the same field. our I think we'll have a little bit lower scoring game in which you might be anticipating but I do think quarterbacks will live I'm really impressed with how Joe burrows picked up a new offense William classes there now and you know just gonna have to build up a big game. the top six are running backs but guaranteeing them is there yeah I think if you play the game on paper I wish you probably went to stand by time but it's not played on paper and Thomas one of the best underdog coaches out there even underdogs sixteen times in his coaching career one fourteen into a dentist but with eleven I wake up sets and then a large home dog VS the openness scale come it's all the way up to six and a half I'm gonna think it's gonna be closer than the experts expect their game to look forward to Jalin hurts over five hundred your mind it is Oklahoma debut six total touchdowns in his first game for the Sooners Oklahoma has the last two Heisman winners coming into this season would be fair to characterize Lincoln Riley is the quarterback Whisperer. yeah absolutely quote about cool whatever you want you know last year I had been a warning quarterback the previous year and I said you know Alan Murray is gonna have great staff this year but the way this March break the Mayfield stopped many surpassed them and others a chance hurts to do even better you see so many open receivers Amazon mom and I love the way he works with these quarterbacks remember hurts did hit seventy percent in Alabama last year well do ya he's my official quarterback who were. it's interesting because he was a big time when our banner bam I think was twenty six into as a starter did you see ways that Oklahoma use them that you didn't see at Alabama. Iago Luxottica tomorrow's offense different the one Alabama is run especially when her through the quarterback there were more of a one of the offense because they open up last year with two a and I think you saw him be able to solve the problem I like the way you get seventy percent of his passes the family on those receivers are just so open not only surprised me at the top customers stats from last year it was a phenomenal
What's next for Alabama after star LB Dylan Moses' injury?
"Dylan moses <music> star linebacker for the alabama crimson tide <hes> has been ruled out indefinitely me injury requiring surgery <hes>. He's gonna be out obviously. I was about to tweet <music> out like okay make a fantasy note and and i thought to myself i'm thank goodness. I didn't send that tweet because we look at stuff. I mean think about about fantasy and about our virtual reality of rooting for players teams and this is a human being going going through this or having gone through this and is back and kudos to mayock and gruden in the raiders to give them a shot. I am rooting for him. Uk's good what had touched out of glennon didn't overthrow him right and then another moment where he was already taken out of the game and the play was for four him right and gruden said put him back in the game of the assistance like he's already out and the other person who's trying to make the team party for not knowing the name off the top my head he got the touchdown touchdown and gruden was busting his assistant stones for taking the touchdown away from waller great stuff from hard knocks again and i know a lot of muster disappointed that we're not seeing a lot of the antonio brown stuff and the deliberations behind the scene and what made brown go crazy and i use that phrase..

2019 college football championship predictions
"The Texas longhorns are seemingly trendy pick. Not only for big twelve championship not only for a spot in the college football playoff. But the Texas longhorns are a trendy pick for the national title game. The sporting news has there. I assume is only prediction out for the two thousand and nineteen college football season national championship game. And they predict that the longhorns, we'll take on the defending champions, the Clemson Tigers in the national championship Bruce Feldman who covers college football for the athletes, as well as Fox Sports notes that UT is a trendy pick, after they beat Georgia. In their bowl game. They bring back star quarterback Sam Eleazar and wide receiver Colin Johnson as well as have a budding star running back in Chianti Ingram. So when I saw this. Immediately. I scoffed and I scoffed loudly. It sounded something lonely. That scoff that was that was my scoff, because I was wondering what you scoff sound like scoff loudly at this. But then I started at dive in and you know, I removed my immediate thoughts and starting from a blank slate and tried to figure out. Okay. How likely is something like this Clemson has the best odds to win the college football national championship, according to Vegas insider, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Michigan all have better odds than the longhorns. So not only the longhorns longer odds than quite a few teams. They have longer odds than someone in their very own conference as the Sooners checking in at sixteen to one with Texas twenty five to one now, the love for Oklahoma's preposterous, preposterous. They're replacing on offense alone four star. Offense of linemen the starting quarterback and the best wide receiver on the team. There is an look Lincoln, Riley is a monster. And they are a recruiting hotbed. They recruit better than almost anybody. But Oklahoma being sort of the automatic team to win the big twelve is a little while you're going to have to win the big twelve you're going to have to win pretty much any conference. If you're going to get in the college football playoff can Texas do it. Yes. Texas. Absolutely can do it. They should probably end up being favored in every big twelve game. They play with maybe the exception of playing Oklahoma and that could obviously change based on the results early in the season now as far as getting into the college football playoff. You need some juice to your resume. Even if you win your conference, you still need some juice, you want juice on the resume. How about week two of college football. And you get Texas hosting LSU in a nighttime match upon ABC that's juice to your resume. So if you can do the simple. I say, simple and ironic manner task of winning the big twelve and you beat the by you bingles at home. You got the juice to get into the college football playoff because you would think Alabama versus Georgia potentially they eliminate each other Nishiguchi and Ohio State potentially they eliminate each other. Clinton. Is the runaway favourite in the ACC? So an undefeated big twelve champion would be a head of Georgia who lost Alabama or who lost to Georgia. It'd be a head of Ohio State who lost a Michigan or vice versa. And then Clinton. I mean that's an easy sell. Toughest game on their schedule. Texas AM coming to town week to outside of that. Not nothing scares you Clemson schedule. They should roll through this thing. So Clemson undefeated ACC champions, there in Texas hold up into the bargain. So once I thought it was crazy. It's not quite as crazy as I once thought, but Texas will have to perfection. Because nobody gets Bennett for the doubt with one loss outside of the SEC the occasional big ten team does. But for the most part, if you want in the college football playoff, you're going to need to be perfect, especially if you're outside the SEC, which is where Texas finds themselves, which is where Clemson finds themselves by the way, we talked about Clinton's schedule. There's no room for error in their schedule
'The worst report I've ever heard': NFL Network analyst crushes Kyler Murray
"It feels like the NFL draft season officially started yesterday because you had that full on character assassination. Charley Casserly reported that Keiler Murray did poorly in his team interviews, basically worse than any quarterback has ever done at the combine if you're a cardinal's fan, this might be confusing because there are report. What's your team is going to take him number one overall to put it into context? Here's Charlie Casserly who was a decorated general manager in the NFL. And now an analyst for the NFL network. These are his comments on Cuyler Murray. This was the worst comments. I ever got a higher rate a quarter manually I've been doing this a long time. Yes leadership. Not good case. Study habits not good the board work below. Not good. Not good at all on any of those areas and grazing major concerns about what this guy's gonna do. Now. People say, well, we're going to compare them to Mahomes, we're going to run an offense like well homes. We're going to run an offense. Like Baker Mayfield. It is possible. But those guys are much different. I mean, those guys you'd have a question about their ability on the board you never question their leadership ability their work habits. They were outstanding in those areas. This guy's not outstanding those areas it showed up in the interview. All right. That's Charley Casserly on the NFL network. I don't know how many front office people or scouts coaches. He spoke to there are. Certain potential draft picks when they go into a meeting, and they know that team is not going to take them they sort of mail it in. I don't know if that happened or not with Cuyler Murray. I don't know how many teams that Charley Casserly spoke to about Cuyler Murray. But there is that possibility also the information this time of the year is hard to trust on both sides because Lincoln Riley, and you're going to hear he's going to talk about Kyle Murray, a leader how great he is. And what may have happened in these interviews, but Charley Casserly. I don't know. If he's speaking to the raiders, they would like to get him downgraded. So they get a chance to get him. You know, I don't trust anybody's information who works for a team whose with a team. I just I don't I can't because I've learned I've learned the hard way, everyone has an agenda hard to get the whole picture, but Casserly saying that Murray had bad study habits terrible on the whiteboard drawing up plays. But it's. Goes back to how could he play? So great at quarterback in college. If you're the cardinals you have to take what Casserly said with a grain of salt.
Hour 2: Mel Kiper Jr's NFL draft predictions
"Mel kiper junior into the show. What's up melt? Hey, guys, how you doing? Good. All right. So number one overall. Mel you have Nick Bosa going to the cardinals. You've heard the things cliff Kingsbury has said about collar Murray, he's a big fan. But he's also said Josh Rosen is our guy. So how confident are you about the cardinals going Bosa at one do guys with a mock draft you call around and you get different opinions. You try to build some type of a consensus. Steve drafted Josh Rosen. I thought he held his own for getting no help you seems like the players in that locker ROY believe in him you move forward. Josh Rosen would have a higher grade than any quarterback in this draft. If you go basically apple apple, and you try to reject a year with a year experience where they would be. But I think they're happier with Josh Rosen than they would have been a quarterback including Tyler Perry. Tyler Murray is still five nine five ten and size body type or still some things at the combine and pro day, and he's going to have to answer to give up on Josh Rosen and go that direction. I don't see it happening based on the people have spoken to. So I went with both. Over Josh Allen. That's going to be the debate the trait outta there. Do you tape boasts Allen right now, it seems like Bosa may be the lead who knows internally with their thinking. But trading out of there for team. Let's go out and get Askins. Maybe something maybe interested in listening to Mel. I'm very surprised by that draft. Order Nick Bosa is the is the foolproof, right? He's going to be a stud, but people felt that way about Nick last year. Sorry, Bradley Chubb last year, he's the best Pash rusher by so much you might as well, get them. There question marks about everyone including including. Cleveland Browns quarterback acre Mayfield, including Gregor Mayfield. Sam darnold everyone. So they're going to go, Bradley choke with not only didn't go Bradley Chubb. They went to the talented quarterback, you know, out of the big twelve who they had questions about right? Isn't that Keiler Murray this year, and isn't Nick Bosa basically, Bradley up? Well, Trump had a great year and shove ended up going to a team that utilize him and put him out there with Miller and he's a tremendous player. Tremendous young man, he's going to have a huge future and the ratio that I think when taken the war, Denzel word overcharged was what Cleveland was kind of debating there. Do you take the corner the pass rusher and put him opposite Garrett? They thought Ogbeh would come on. He didn't. But that was a decision obeyed word played well till he got hurt. I think we look at at Murray Murray is different in that he's five nine and a half. He's not six foot and a half to twenty like Baker Mayfield was and is I think that body type when you think about we've never seen before we've seen Baker Mayfield types. Okay. Before we haven't seen Cuyler Murray fight go this SARS, no conflict Kyle Murray. Guys. There's none. So I think we've talked. The number one pick four pick even a first round pick for that matter. I've at thirteen to Miami you've never seen this ever happened before. So I think some answers may become at the combine when you see him as he looked like he can hold up. It looks those guys in the eye. Does he looked like an NFL quarterback putting on a board? You know, it's football IQ should be really good the hand size people. Always look at that nine is that is that there you can do it or you can't will see hand size with collar Murray comes in at so still some things that'd be determined the answers. I got back from that question. This week is was leave Cuyler Murray at thirteen don't move him up that seems to be fair for right now in the process is that you say that Mel just this morning. We learned we got some news. Peter King was speak into Lincoln Riley, the coach at OU, and he said that ninety one percent of the past column Murray through from the pocket while at OU last season ninety one percent of this passes were from floor from Nepal. So when you look at him in comparison to Dwayne has its handicap that us was break that down. What makes? What one quarterback better than the other for the next level in light of that ninety one percent there column, right? That's a great point. Because I think you look at how do you compare? I don't remember one man's L came out. I said he's a wild card even out liar. I don't know what he's going to be Baker Mayfield. Last year was the wildcard big three. We knew it was Josh Allen Sam darnold. Josh Rosen maker Mayfield was the wild card this year the wild card again is Kyle Murray. So you compare him to Haskins asan's as a traditional guy. Everybody knows what you're getting there. Even though he was one year as a starter. We don't know we're hoping I think if you draft him say at thirteen or wherever in the first round, you hope that today's NFL okay with the shotgun so deep getting that shotgun snap not under center, basically in space Todd mcshane's but talking about the statute great set more passes batted down for six foot and over quarterback than six foot and under quarterbacks like Cuyler Murray. So today's NFL makes this happen. It's kind of the perfect storm for him coming out at the right time and the right situation. So there's going to be able to protect his body. He can slide. We know that we know how lightning quickie. Yes. That is in the back. Of his Eddie senses things that nobody else. Can't you mentioned the pocket of build? That's underrated part. He will sit in that pocket. He will wait he'll go through progressions. And he's tremendously accurate. His completion percentage. Was right. Where Mayfield was and he accounted for more touchdowns this season. The Baker Mayfield did during his great year two seasons ago. So I said three months ago collar Murray six foot tall five eleven. It's no discussion. He's the number one pick. But at five nine and a half, it makes it interesting. So let's go to the other quarterback that people are talking about many projected to the giants including you at sixth Wayne Haskins. You said something interesting to me earlier, you said that that Sam darnold. Did you say Sam darnold would've sorry? Josh Rosen would've graded out as the best quarterback in this draft to me Dwayne Haskins looks like a better prospect than Josh Rosen or even probably Sam darnold does not as mobile as Sam darnold. How what do you think of where does Haskins rate and all this? Why wouldn't you give him a great underwear? Josh Rosen was less. Year. Well, they were better quarterbacks coming out. I think that those guys were elite we had talked to years ago about those guys even before they were in the draft that they would have come out earlier. They would have been highly. They were they were considered special. And they said back in August prior to those kids coming out last year that in August that it wouldn't set up well for those and they were Josh Allen, Los everything around them. Sam darnold loss a lot around him. And Josh Rosen was that UCLA where they didn't have a ton of talent. So it wasn't set up for those guys to live up to all the hype in terms of the numbers and the way they were expected to take over and dominate gains and be spectacular. So people were kind of wondering over radium. No, you weren't there. Great quarterbacks. And I thought the people in the league is that these guys this year be thankful if you're those teams you got those quarterbacks they're better and every team in the first round from Lamar Jackson won the Baker and everybody in between those guys are thrilled to have. And they don't have to worry about this Dwayne Haskins a one year starter. That's it. And he had a little trouble struggles rowing the Penn State game. But I like the fact he got better. He learned a seems like he's going to be all in to be a quarterback. He loves the challenge and the pressure that comes from being a quarterback. But so criticism of him to say those guys better those guys were considered super elite and special entities for a two year period. So that's not a critique Dwayne Haskins or or taking a shot. Joe Dwayne Haskins on that's a fair thing to say those three. And then you throw Baker Mayfield John Dorsey number one. Look what happened. He emailed that pick. They can own that division for the next ten years because of this draft and because of getting Baker Mayfield Bubills love Josh ninety five and five they weren't a games. He started to finish. You can Nate Sam darnold. Look what he did in the last month of the season. Look around more Jackson games. He wants those teams guys are thrilled that they know they got the right quarterback for a long long time. And hopefully for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson the passing has improved. But from from winning, and the attitude they're all in on the March access by those teams are really happy where they are right now quarterback

"Folks. I'm not making this up, and it's still amazes me. You know, eighteen years later to this day. An and it's gonna drive you nuts. If I don't find that the Padres roster, which I'm googling right now. Oh, it's gonna kill you. This is going to drive you nuts. Third base. Big name. It's a big name new Yankees. I know you're hit. That is your hint, right? Yeah. You got you got manage really? Coug Nuttal medals, pregnancies. Yes. Greg Signals. nettles? Eighty four. We're in two thousand eight. I Kevin mcreynolds is on that team. So as hard mellow might see. There. It is. Eighteen years later doing this. Then I'm telling you never never ceases to amaze me, and you're gonna get angry when you go. If you go back and listen to this folks, I'm not kidding. You mummy is going to be angry because he's gonna listen to. How did I miss Craig knows how we're getting older? Now, I know you used to accept that. Right. But maybe my favorite one of all time, the mo- prio Expos how badly too. I miss the Expos. Go ahead. Viral Gary Carter behind Gary Carter behind the plate aisles. Oliver at first base that they had a rotation at second. But I think Doug Flynn UL Washington before he went to the royals had a toothpick on Tim Wallich. Was it was it third bait? Tim wallet was at third break. Third base. You had Ellis found time at Andre Dawson, yet hawkers, Tim Raines and cubby. Yeah. But yeah. But yeah, I understand that that was in his early days when he went going like, you know, thirty thirty type of guy who's stealing bases and hitting for power for the knees. We're big arm. Yeah. Exactly. Steve Rogers with the beard was their starting pitcher, those Expos uniforms to they were sweet back in those days on this, man. I just missed talking ball with you. So. Collar Murray column. Bringing a whole circle. Bring it on the we all we all want to see collar Mary play one just the NFL or in college. But when you have a guy with freakish athletic ability in this insatiable desire as as coach Rollie was talking about not just to win games. But to win every snap. You know, how much that goes to, you know, the multi-sport guy were dads. You don't need to have your kids play. Just one sport. This is the ultimate example. Herb is a not. So were you you were first baseman back in the day. I mean in this day and age this is the ultimate lesson, ma'am. Play multiple sports and look at the insatiable appetite. This young man has to win. Yeah. I mean, he's he's one of the he's one of the more unique athletes, I've covered, and I've covered a ton of of high level athletes, but this guy man, I don't know. I I mean, I know Bo Jack. And you know, you always go back to a Bo Dion won a Heisman. Well, but I'm saying one highs all you got you. And then also had the ability to to play in the Melby. I mean, you're talking like one guy you're talking about when you get it. Collar murray. You're you're talking about a top ten pick in the major league baseball draft. And then over by the way, you gotta you gotta come back over and put the fun go down and you're gonna replace Baker Mayfield. The greatest years we've ever watched in football. And you got to replace that guy and pick up Lincoln Riley offense and try to win some game. Oh, oh what what's night? You're not gonna win some games you're going to you're going to go out there. And and you're gonna win the big twelve and you're gonna oh oh for fine. You're gonna win a Heisman? I mean. I you kidding me. Like and the way he plays like he's he is. He's a hiccup when he pulled the ball down. He takes off. But then he can also show the versatility of sitting in a pocket in reading coverage processing it getting the ball quickly. Just like you watch in the NFL now with with the Rams of the chiefs of these teams that are running that kind of offense. This dude does it there..

"What's best to help you go further to joining us right now on the shell Pennzoil performance line as the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners. They've had a remarkable for your run. They did something that will no one's ever done in big twelve history. Four consecutive big twelve championships back toback heismans to boot. It's been remarkable couple of years of the head coach. And then before that OC for the Sooners and Lincoln Riley returns you to herbstreet Fitzsimmons. Coach. You for your time. Look when we talked to at the end of the big twelve championship game on the field. It was literally like one word when I looked at you. And I said historic and you get a big old smile, man. And he said a thank you that moment right there. I mean, you look at that going back to the last few years last couple of years just what has this ride been like the you coach? Yeah. You know, so much in the moment now that it's almost a little difficult to describe its. Really the last four seasons when we came in the came into you, it's you know, even just went in the big twelve championship. You always have a chance here. But that seemed like such a goal, and it was and it still is and now the back here now for years later at four those in a row and third college football playoff appearance and two trophies. I mean, it's that's crazy. I mean, it really is. So it's been it's been a while. It's. Ever do you ever drained when you get to come work at a place like this? So that's what we're certainly living in the moment. And the and certainly enjoying you know, all the we've been fortunate enough to accomplish Lincoln. I know you're not into individual accolades or taken a bow. And like you said, you kind of your heads down, and you're recruiting and you're preparing don't have second kind of step back. But the rest of us can not only is it off. It's a coordinator the first couple of years. But when Bob steps down you step in your kind of spoiling the fans here with these first two years as a head coach years is this what is going to be like every year. No problem. I love Lincoln Riley couple of Heisman trophies couple of cloudbursts. Let's keep this row with you know, I it's almost it's got to again. I know you're in the moment, your your focus, but damn you gotta step back for a second. And this pretty good start. Yeah. The. One of the best bed. Biggest pieces of I got for Bob. I think he was half joking after they said don't win too much early. That's one of the biggest mistakes out. They was one of the national championship. And you're too should. I should have done it like in your eight. If I was only gonna win. Which is. It's good. It's I mean, you know, has been to distort seasons and the and the two Heisman, you know, which are. Even though they won't player there. So they're very much such a team award. And so it's just yeah. It's it's awesome. It really is. You can you can feel a little bit more when we won't get out, especially will get recruiting, you know, because those those are aren't in the moment that you know, they they see the family. See it the success and the opportunities. So you feel a little bit more of the impact of it there. But. Yeah. Within these walls. I mean, not set commonplace. But yeah, we got back. We got back about two thirty early Bundy more than the is better than we have practiced. Right back out there, nine o'clock. We started out pretty quick we got out there with Guiler all of us. And it was just kind of business as usual. It's just like just another day, you know. And so I guess that's what you want it to feel like I mean, you want you want to enjoy it and appreciate it. But you also want to expect success as a team and then visual pinch. Come after that. I think our program certainly has that right now. Lincoln Riley, joining us here, the head coach of Oklahoma and Lincoln the football team and not to compare and contrast and say one's better than the other..

"Browns call you'll listen Cowboys may not be open now. Yeah. Fritzy? And sometimes you're the only the flavor of the month for short period of time. So how do you not jump on that little window whether you're play or coach sometimes you're hot for that little period of time? And you've got to do something about it. Yeah. You might get blown out by Alabama. And all of a sudden people go. Yeah. All right. Maybe he's not the flavor of the month. You're looking for that on each thirty five. I mean, he's he's the right age. Member when Sean McVeigh got the job with the Rams are like man, he's he's younger than some of the players. He's gone on his team. He's too young. And now everybody wants to find that guy before they get to be, you know, forty years of age thirty five years of age and Lincoln Riley fits that profile here on Lincoln Riley was given a new five-year year twenty five million dollar contract in June. Six months ago last and he is if if somehow he pulled this off two more wins he's due for another one Oklahoma's thirty two point four points allowed per game. The most by any team entering the playoffs since twenty fourteen. So that's out of twenty teams that top their own twenty five points per game that they allowed last season. And that's e me because I was going to say now's your chance I want you to defend big twelve defenses, and I should have done that with Lincoln Riley. Now that I look at these numbers yen, pulling how many college coaches right now, make more than Lincoln Riley of Oklahoma successful young hot coach. It's way more than you would get and some programs that have no business paying coach much, and he just signed a new deal. Yes. With his new deal. And there's some other guys are getting raises like the Purdue coach he's a sixteenth highest in the country. Lovey Smith makes more Willie Taggart makes more Scott frost makes more. Dan mullen. And of course, saving Meyer office..
In the week-to-week NFL, it's all about survival
"From Minnesota. There was a chance that. Vikings might get the football back down eight but a stupid personal foul penalty on Harrison Smith only would have been second down. But I mean, he's he took a shot at Trubisky late. So you'll get a chance to see the bears on Thursday thanksgiving but Arne getting back to that. Cowboys win today over the falcons and now especially with the Redskins are a quarterback without. Oh my goodness. What a horrible horrible injury. That is. I mean the divisions there for the Cowboys for the taking. Yeah. Don't look now. But Dallas when we're talking about the NFC east is a game behind Washington there at five and five Washington is at six four listen, we'll we'll get to the eagles in the falcons. I know the falcons are in the east, but we'll get them coming up in just a bit. Hey loan. Behold. Arnie maybe the team that looked the best today in the NFC east. Your New York Giants any Eli manning three and seven only three games out of first place right now, but got saquon the boss oil, and that looked a little better about to welcome back them to the division. Title race. Don't take away from it. I will take it away from you yet. I'll let you I'll let you have it for a little bit. I mean, I still believe the raiders can finish eight now. So. Give me give me another week at least with the giants. So foreign six three and seven for the third and fourth place teams. But here's Dallas. Now just a game out in the fife and five and they get Washington on Thursday on a short week with the new quarterback. Washington's gotta go out and find a backup quarterback as well to beyond Colt McCoy. So I dunno Arnie. I almost feel like that. This is a team that for many weeks. We've tried to bury we've listened to the frustration from Bobo our technical director is a diehard Cowboys fan. So he's been frustrated. But now all the sudden with the Lincoln Riley rumors and the Jason Garrett gone the trade from white Cooper's working out now. And they're giving the ball to Ezekiel Elliott. And here we are spending. Most of our first seven minutes talking about Dallas and a resurgence. I got him. I'm as much as you say you call this. And I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm shocked by this over the last couple of weeks that we started with that is because if we started with this takeover. For the show, but I'm going to say it. Anyway, someone's looking for a quarterback what better place for a quarterback in the nation's capital? Then Colin Kaepernick, I mean, what a what a fit that would be all going the Washington playing in Washington. Can you imagine? I mean, a name need one pretty bad. All right. I got a double check who had tweeted that in. I someone was looking at the under over under eight minutes into the show. You would. How about that? I think that was I think that was the over under. I'll have to double check. Oh, yeah. Mike how many minutes into the show this Arnie talk about capper Nick going to Washington? Even though the last time he played Arne was dating supermodels beating Kerr one on one with a nice flowing ponytail. I say two minutes. So actually we hit the over there. I'm sorry. How could you not know? How is that? Not a perfect fit for everybody around for a team that needs an emergency quarterback. But see that could work against them. If they need emergency quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, I dunno. It may take him a while to to get up to speed. So they may have to go with somebody who's you know, a little bit more ready to play. And it's so crazy because you hear these same names rotated over and over Mark Sanchez already was the name that was brought up today. Someone that they might bring in for a workout. How about wait? What's Nathan Peterman? All right. Brought him to Indianapolis or someplace like I don't remember what they brought him into. Oh, man. So tough news today for the Redskins. Not only did they lose the game. But they lost their quarterback in a gruesome injury and shades of the Joe thighs men injury whenever we were kids. It was just good task. We'll get to that coming up in just a bit. But let's stick real quick with this cowboy falcons game from another perspective. What are the hell has happened to Atlanta? I mean, I understand injuries play a major part, right? I get it. You have what's he's had a couple of changes in the coaching staff not a lot. But this is just I mean, this was an offense that was deemed next level. It was it was cruising. And now. Thank you. Thank you. I didn't have to say it Bobo had it. But it was it was really bad really bad army. I don't know where it's going. I mean, look it's one thing to take a little bit of a dip. But what they're going through. It's just you know, it's head scratching their even with injuries. They still have a pretty good offense out there. They shouldn't be having a four six record. This is ridiculous. You shouldn't be losing to the Cowboys at home. You're much better team. Where's that offense? What's going on with Matt Ryan? I know you don't wanna point, you know, all the blame at your quarterback. But under three hundred yards. You know, you've got Julio Jones there, you still got him to go ahead and throw the ball to you got some new you've got weapons around you. What's going on out there? I got to start pointing the finger would Matt Ryan. And I thought a couple of weeks ago in part of this might have been because I opened my big dumb mouth Atlanta to go to the Super Bowl. I thought they'd won three straight. Why? Didn't think they had they had they had won three straight games after a really ugly loss to Pittsburgh. They beat the buccaneers. They slid by the giants and then they put a pretty good weapon on the Washington Redskins. But then they go to Cleveland, and they get beat last week. They lose the Cowboys today and Arnie their next three games are at New Orleans home for the suddenly I'll know I don't wanna get carried away on the Mark Jackson. We'll talk about that later. Suddenly resurgent ravens. And then they go to Green Bay those are three even on Green Bay's not playing its best football right now. But already they could be four and nine for sure gonna be foreign seven when they play the saints next week with the way that things, but what the hell is going on in Atlanta right now, it's a tough question to try to answer. And I wanna to say something also go up surprised that you did start with the Cowboys in Atlanta considering the biggest win today put somebody into the Super Bowl. And I thought that's where you were going to start you you really bury delete. I hate the skull. You on the air back and say you buried the lead because the Pittsburgh Steelers with their win today. Just put them in the Super Bowl. Meaning they'll beat the patriots at home, which means they'll get the number one seed, which means this year Velgo to the Super Bowl buried elite. Well, you know, it is kind of shaping up a little bit for maybe a Pittsburgh New Orleans slash Lossiemouth battle in the Super Bowl. I think we'll learn a lot tomorrow night. This is crazy because here we are Sunday night and a majority of the time the Monday night football game. Here's a conversation. We have as we're heading out the door in our final segment. Sunday, Monday night, football's usually, hey, don't forget tomorrow night. We'll see next week. But now with the Rams and the chiefs. I mean, I I don't know Arnie I- Kansas City quite a bit. But you're right. I mean, I know knock on Kansas City because I know as soon as I say anything about Kansas City. They start dogging on the raiders. Yes. The raiders stink. You're really good this year. How does that make you feel better? But you you can't help. And I know it's all difference because it Mahomes, did, you know, Patrick Mahomes likes catch up to not hear that at all on social media. Yes. I'm actually with you on this one. I now Arne because I love what Kansas City is doing. I'm enjoying watching them play. But you know, what they have sold a short in the playoffs before they have disappointed when we thought they were the team to beat. We have heard. Hey, things are different this year. You just wait till we get to the playoffs. Guess who's consistently been there and consistently got done the Rodney burger?
Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes' record-shattering 2016 showdown
"Back to Lubbock this weekend. But maker Mayfield at Patrick Mahomes play each other on Sunday as pros for the first time with the the Browns hosting the Kansas City Chiefs. I think at the time people are like may have wears the defense as time has gone on people like man that was a quarterback in classic definitely. So it was Lincoln Riley gonna coach the Sooners on Saturday and the Browns on Sunday. Can you pull out of double duty, Jake or get nervous, but they should be more nervous about the potential of Dallas Cowboys opening that I think the Cleveland? The Oklahoma coaches never leave for the Cowboys. Do they ever have before just one? Yeah. Just one good stuff there from Jake. So my extra point is about a team to Jake asked rob Mullins about earlier on the show, and that's the UCF nights. And obviously, they have not played anybody to date and have not had much of an opportunity to impress the selection committee, but that changes beginning tonight, and they have a game at seven thirty eastern on ESPN against the temple owls, while temples overall record isn't overly impressive. They do have

"General manager with their old. Hey, coach, hue Jackson. It was destined to fail. And it did finally on Monday when the Browns released Hugh Jackson with time left on his contract this season and next season. So the Browns will be paying him through two thousand nineteen but it will give John Dorsey and Alonzo Highsmith and Elliott Wolff in the Browns for an office the chance to go hire their own head coach, they are I in the pool this year. They get the start looking for an interviewing coaching candidates right now, if they want to go talk to Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma taking go do that. If they want to go talk to any other college coach, they can go do that. They don't have to hide behind anything right now. The Browns are the first out for a coaching search. And then of course, they make the change in offense coordinator firing Todd Haley and bringing in Freddie kitchens who doesn't have extensive experience running an NFL offense. So it'll be interesting to see how kitchens calls play. Days starting Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. And so the Cleveland Browns the first team to overhaul their coaching staff, but the real changes came Tuesday with a flurry of moves that made this one of the busiest trade deadline days in NFL history. Last year was very busy. Because at the last moment in the twenty four hours leading up to the deadline. We saw Jimmy Garoppolo traded from New England to San Francisco j Gye traded from Miami to Philadelphia Dwayne Brown from Houston to Seattle. Marcel Darius from buffalo to Jacksonville and Kelvin Benjamin going from Carolina to buffalo end the almost trade of AJ McCarron from Cincinnati to Cleveland, the got foiled when the Browns could not get the deal done in time by the four o'clock deadline by the four o'clock deadline this year. There was no such thing. Holding back a flurry of moves. We saw de. Ver- trade Pro Bowl wide receiver. Damaris Thomas and a seventh round pick to the Houston. Texans for a fourth and seventh round pick. As will the interesting part of that trade is that Thomas is first game with the Texans will come Sunday in Denver against the Broncos team. That just traded him. Thomas was the longest tenure Bronco and get the Broncos say goodbye to him because really they weren't going to keep his fourteen million dollars salary around next season in my mind. The most surprising move right before the deadline. Came win Detroit traded golden Tate to Philadelphia for a third round pick. So many teams had made so many inquiries to the lions about golden Tate. But they had resisted all overtures for him. But finally, they broke down and dealt Tate to the eagles who for the second straight year made a trade right at the deadline last year Gye this year Tate, as they look to try to keep up with the rest of the NFC east another team in the NFC making.

"Slash Herbie ZipRecruiter, the smartest way to hire. I'd Harvey Alice, let's get into the marquee matchups coming up on this late in college football, let's begin with the game. We were just talking about with with Lincoln Riley, head coach at Oklahoma number nineteen, Texas against number seven, Oklahoma, Oklahoma coming into this game as an eight point favorite look and you're going to be the state fair college game day of this thing. Watch out for the fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that'll drop in donkey. Your left leg would go numb, but it's worth it just to let you know. But this one personally herb, this is where Texas. No, you need to start getting. Back to because Texas is now a relevant again, having a number next to them coming into this match up. It's a great game, no matter what it's better when both of these teams are really good. I think there's a few things with Texas. I think first of all, it looks like a team. Keep in mind. Second year, Tom, Herman lost to Maryland to start the season after all the build up and hype of this being the second year, but to their credit. They didn't look great against Tulsa, but they won. They really started their season in week three, and it was a an impressive win against or against USC. The crowd has a new energy about them. The crowd that you'd like to talk about how to had an energy about them. They. They followed it up with TCU game the next week. Again, the home crowd that you like to refer to, they had a presence in that ballgame as well. And then they go to keep coming jumping. Coming like, I heard that they've been better this year. I really did has a Dettori sleep. Just been kind of quiet. They stepped up, you know. And I think I think they've they've become a factor for under the crowd is beginning to believe more. Importantly, the players I think are are kind of buying into Todd Orlando and his defense, and, and, hey, this stuff's really starting to work, and I don't know, just feels different for me, not just the ranking, but the way they've looked on the field, the last three weeks it it feels different and they played inspired against, oh, you when it looks like it'd be a blow out, they reminded everybody, hey, it's still rivalry game. And just when you think Oklahoma should be up with Baker Mayfield by twenty eight Baker mayfield's need to make a play in the fourth quarter to win a game. And so it's been like that the last few years, but I think this year I think it will. It feels very different. Sam l. ING or last year played very well. In this game, it's a game he grew up, trimming to be in. So Oklahoma's going to get Texas as best Shah. Shot and has nothing to do with rankings, has everything to do with the kids at grew up that are on these rosters waited for their opportunity to be a part of this game and that for no other reason means it's going into the fourth quarter. It's gonna be a battle and who's going to be able to win the game is going to be the team that's able to avoid the turnovers and and which quarterback ends up playing smarter probably is the teams that ends up winning it, but it's going to this is one of those you, like you said, when Texas and Oklahoma, both are ranked, it's got a different energy and excitement about it, and I'm fired up to be down there. Three thirty eastern CBS game is another battle of ranked teams number five, LSU only two and a half point favorites against the twenty second ranked Florida. Gators herb everybody in their Mumma across the country or hammering right now l. s. u. and that small number that defense has been impressive off. Pence continues to give better. I've gotta LSU Georgia next week. I'm really hoping for a top-five matchup, but that number that low numbers scares me Herbie. Why are they only two and a half point favorite because they're going to the swamp. And I still think people the jury's still out on unhealthy of the LSU offense can be. I think you and I are fans Joe borough and watched what he can do last week. He made some plays this. Justin Jefferson is the guy that I think this week against as much man is we'll see, we'll have to win some one on one battles on the outside..

"Trend is completely been reversed guys like Lincoln Riley have grasp it and then had it like like like spawned this entire new deal, which is now bleeding up into the national football. It's fascinating. It really is. It is. It is, and it's something it's something I think you're gonna see more and more NFL teams pick up on honestly, and I talked with, I did the draft last year and as I was preparing for it, I was talking to Lincoln Riley about Baker Mayfield and we just started talking about bigger. Mayfield this before he was even drafted. And he's, we were talking about him transitioning to the NFL and he said, you know. When I first came to Oklahoma, I might have two or three offense of coaches from the NFL come in and talk to me not just about Baker, but just about my system and about what we're doing on offense at Oklahoma. And he said this past year leading into twenty seventeen and even after twenty seventeen. He said, I probably had up to twenty five to thirty offensive. NFL coaches come in and talk to me. So right now just, you know, Lincoln Riley is on the cutting edge of of offense of football and how to attack defense's and how to take advantage of a quarterback that can that can run and throw and quick thinker and have you know, just tremendous savvy and decide the decisive thinker. And so people go to talk to him and you know, it used to just be college coaches in a couple NFL and mounts almost the entire NFL. So when he told me that that told me that you're going to see more and more and more NFL offenses going toward that style offense. And also the reason I thought we had four NFL quarterbacks, four or five that were drafted in the first round. And I was I was kind of bullheaded that Baker Mayfield would be the top guy before the draft started. And the reason I thought that it was because of talking to Lincoln Riley and hearing how he's adamant about the NFL trending in this direction. His guy Baker mayfield's off to a pretty good start and has been a fell career. Yeah. Yeah. Doing pretty well. He's not six, three or taller, but somehow seems to have overcome that. It's amazing, isn't it? I say that as a shot to people got it because he. First draft meeting, it was like I brought a big racial. I'm just kind of like looked at like. Hey kid, you know, he's not even six feet tall, you know he's not, you You know know. how many of you, how many times if I pick in the NFL draft has been that short. How about zero? And I don't see that that trend changing this year, and so it's it's early, but he's off to a pretty good star. I just happened to be. I could be his if I weren't working at ESPN I I could be his agent. I'm, I'm a huge Baker guy publicized vector. Yeah, sucks. Me hire me bay herb you out of your mind, but you gotta know enough on your plate right now, but hey, wouldn't be a bad higher. It's being of hires their job sites at send you tons of the wrong resumes to sort through. That's not smart. Like that's segway by the way, you know, what is smart going to ZipRecruiter dot com.

"Coach, we always enjoy the time and by the way that guy wearing six clean Cleveland, he's doing pretty well by the way just for those he's not. He's not. He's not too short. Is it. KOMO eat healthy coach. We always enjoy the time you're on Herbie in fits. Of course. Thank you. Thank you for having me getting knocked down on the football field makes you. But getting back up makes you tougher at Goodyear. We call that determination a willingness to put in more hours more reps and more heart to reach a bar that's sky high because the Goodyear blimp doesn't show up for just anybody. So don't be just anybody the blimp worthy. Good here more driven Herbie just before we started rolling tape there. It was an interesting conversation. We were having with coach Riley and you brought up a topic of watching Kansas City on what would win were they? Monday night was a money was Monday night football and just watching Patrick Mahomes who came from that Lincoln Riley, Mike, Leach type system. Even though obviously he's not air-raid to the integrate, but it will fascinating how you brought up the just this schematic aspect of what Andy Reid and the chiefs are doing is very similar to what the Sooners are doing in Norman. Yeah, yeah. Without a doubt. I mean, I, I find it interesting that when I'm watching teams like the Rams. And with with Gough and what he's doing in lighting up scoreboards with the Rams. And of course, with with the chiefs are doing with Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes. It looks very reminiscent of what you see on Saturdays in college football, and there was a time where people really questioned how to NFL coaches and franchises, find ineffectual franchise quarterbacks. When most of these college teams are running some version of a uptempo spread attack, and a lot of times these quarterbacks come into the NFL and they're not six, four. They're not throwing the ball from the pocket. They're not in the huddle and how are we supposed to find these guys that are gonna end up making it. And there've been a lot of guys that haven't made it. And Andy Reid seems to be a guy that's think about his background. I mean, he was kind of thrown these unless coast, Mike Holmgren, Mike Holmgren Bill. Walsh from India, there's ever like a tree to be proud of and to never leave. It's it's that tree right? And he's had a ton of success in the NFL working with a lot of different quarterbacks and at this stage of the game in his career for him to be willing to say to himself, I'm I'm assuming and maybe we should have him on sometime on the podcast, my good interview, but for him to kind of look in the mirror I'm guessing and say, listen, I, I can keep running when I've been running for years or I can adjust my system to what I'm being handed, which is Patrick Mahomes type guy and tweak my system, not not tweak overhaul my system from west coast to more of a spread, get the ball out, let my quarterback kind of do as thing. And the chiefs right now become one of the hottest teams. And one of the biggest stories with Patrick Mahomes and there's their head coach, you know, doing basically. What you see done every Saturday in the big twelve and has a lot of great playmakers to to take advantage of it. A quarterback. The right now is very comfortable with that system because of what he ran, a Texas Tech. Yeah, folks that used to be where the NFL would go down to college college into the high schools, whatever they were running up top filtered down. Now it seems to be that it's going from name and seemed it is going from seven on seven ties school high school into college college. Now into the National Football League, the.

Yeah, baby up and there's a little hollow just waiting on you if you're alone your work and you mentioned Trevor, Lawrence herb as we get into games and then we'll preview a nice little sleet coming up this weekend. Lincoln Riley, head coach, Oklahoma. We'll be here with us. Oh, Texas, ranked herb against, hey, top ten sooner squad for college football. Having that back. We'll touch on that game along with a few others on the marquee side coming up in a moment, but Trevor Lawrence man, that was obviously the story on Saturday. It's still a story coming into this weekend. He was back at practice on Monday. It was more of a neck stinger than concussion. He went through the concussion protocol. He gets cleared everything, but your reaction to what we saw then. And obviously the youngster Bryce coming in and leading his team to come from behind victory, but just a quarterback overall quarterback situation at Clemson with Trevor Lawrence going down and that oblique moment that a lot of college football fans had on Saturday leading into this weekend is what. I think it's number one. It's great to see Trevor Lawrence back. It's great to see that the injury wasn't enough to keep him out for for a lengthy amount of time. So that's great news for Clemson for Trevor. I think there's never a question about Trevor Lawrence's ability and what he can do. I think it's a little bit more about his health and you know, making sure there are other teams that are out there that are playing where they have a guy who's maybe a difference maker. And if they get an injury, it could change things for them potentially. So I don't. I, it's Clemson had a luxury having Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence, and now they've lost that. But I thought I thought, chase Bryce stepped up considering we didn't know a whole lot about him and it wasn't as if he blew away with his numbers. I mean, he was seven to thirteen for eighty three yards with an interception, but he showed the moxie to convert the fourth down late in the game when they were trailing, and that's an incompletion they lost the game and he showed an ability to make that throw to make that play and. I think you know his coaches deserve a lot of credit for getting them ready because it was not going well. If you watch that whole game, Syracuse deserves a lot of a lot of respect for the way they played in that game. Even when Trevor Trevor Lawrence was in the game Syracuse after beating them a year ago, they were, they went into death valley and took that crowd out of the game, and they had it. They had a lead when Trevor Lawrence went out with that injury. So this is one of those games where Notre Dame kind of had a moment like that against ball state. Clemson had their moment like that against Syracuse, everybody has a game like that against the team that you should be able to take advantage of. And they are very, very fortunate instead of losing that game that they, they came back to win it. And I think chase Bryce grew up in a big way after that, that fourth down past that kept them alive and eventually lead them to the winning touchdown. So a bit a big scare for the Tigers and they survive it and move on. So that's. Big for them..

"And Baker Mayfield actually got into it with the reporter. It was this whole story with Baker Mayfield. And the reporter that he got into it yesterday was wild. Make you wonder how much of Baker success was coaching. The reply was I'd be bleeping bricks right now.
