"That actually is my favorite place to call a football game. That is. University of Washington. That place is loud and it's so aesthetically beautiful. You write there on the water and Washington has those cool uniforms with a purple black and yellow, people taking boats to the game. People take a boat to the game and it's really, really, really loud. I don't know what it is with the stadiums in Seattle. It's incredible, right? They just got loud fans. They got crazy fans. And then you want to talk about iconic. I got Sam. I got Gus Johnson here on the rich Isaac Joe. You just called game of the rose bowl. I mean, what a game. Unbelievable game. Did you watch it either? Or I was there for I brought the kids. Wow. We went there. And we went to three. And how old are they? 1411 and 9. There's a 14 year old talk to you. I hear choice words. Right. You get a pound now. No more hugs and kisses, right? I got some choice words. I have a question about it. But it's funny when UCLA went up 14 nothing. I'm like, this is going to be over. Because Gus is calling it. Yeah. I'm like, don't worry about it. Just wait. Let's also Caleb Williams. I think that kid is a Heisman Trophy winner. With everything that's happened, I know CG Stroud is great. You've called some quorum games too, and I know. Blake warm is great, yeah. But this Caleb Williams, he's put up, I want to say out of the last 6 games he's played, he's put up four bills, 5 times, 5 bills, this past weekend. Right. You know, I was getting text from my boys during the game, and they were like, this is Patrick Mahomes. This could be Patrick Mahomes. He's smart. He's just so smart. He's so clever. You know, and Patrick Mahomes comes from that same Lincoln Riley system that air raid Mike leach and when he played a Texas tech, and this kid, I mean, Lincoln Riley is just, he's innovative. He's, I mean, think about the quarterbacks he's had. Baker, Kyler, Jalen. Now this kid, I mean, it's just so wonderful that USC was able to get him. I know Oklahoma, they were disappointed, but to have him out here with this brand of football, getting ready to go into the Big Ten, it's just I think he's just a young specialist. So if you had a hodgman, I do have one. Oh, you do have one. You're going to vote for you'd vote for Caleb Williams. As of today, as of today, but we'll see what happens. They got to play Notre dame this weekend. That's right. It puts up another big game and Notre-Dame. I want to see USC's offense against Georgia. Well, you might get that chance. Yeah, I want to see a west coast team. I mean, think about it if we get a USC, we get an SEC team, we get a Big Ten team, and then TCU. So you get a big 12. And you get a big 12 team. I think that might be perfect. Gus Johnson here on the rich eisen show, walk me through what it's going to be like for you Saturday. I mean, you've called Michigan Ohio State games before, but you have not called them where both are undefeated. This is your first in that foray because I'd imagine you were not in the booth in 2006 for that one. What's it going to be like for you? Okay, I'll travel tomorrow, which is Thursday. And my lady lives in Columbus, so I'll have Thanksgiving dinner at about midnight. Okay. Which is important. So then Friday we get up. Hold on, is it midnight? Yeah, because I'm not leaving here until. By the time I get there, get my bags out of airport. Okay. It's a midnight Thanksgiving dude. Very good. So I'll have that. Friday, we get up. They'll do a couple of radio interviews. We got to talk to Cleveland. My man riz, you know, riz Cleveland. But that his ESPN station. But then we go see Ryan day and the buckeyes at noon over at their facility and they're really nice because they give us lunch and we get a chance to sit down. And you don't wear blue, right? You know that. I don't ever wear blue. Okay. All right. We sit down with Ryan. We talked to Jim yesterday, Jim Harbaugh. How do you sound? He's a really, he's a quirky dude. I mean, I really like him. He, you know, he's a quirky dude. He's a smart guy. He's, he can be really funny. Yeah. Once he takes you into his fold, he's a really good guy. The two of us have had a really great relationship. I like him a lot. Even though he can be a goofball, but he's I remember asking him not to go and go, I said, coach, how many concussions did you have as a player? He says, I don't remember. So that a lot of concussions ladies and gentlemen, Jim Harbaugh. Right. So is quorum going to play? Do you think? I don't think so. Oh my God. That's what I read. And I didn't get this from horrible. I read it. One of the players kind of dropped that. As it currently sounds right now. That's what it is. Okay, but you didn't get that sense from Harmon? You wouldn't give us anything. He wouldn't give us anything on injuries. Okay. He was like, whoever's going to play is going to play and whoever doesn't play. The guy behind a massive step up. How many people Ohio states heard too, you know? Sure, sure. Okay. So you spoke to Jim, and so you're going to see reindeer in Columbus Friday. Okay. And then what game did, what's that look? You got a suit picked out already. Got a suit picked out. No neutral colors. Got it? Because you get, oh yeah. I get killed for that. And not even thinking about it. I'm just pulling out something that's clean. That's why I was late today because that's why I was late today, rich because man, you know, I was, I was in Cambridge, then I went to where was did I flew out here? To LA, did the game. Stayed at the hotel out there and passed Adina and I live here in Los Angeles. So I needed to wash my clothes. So I'm late. I'm sitting there washing clothes. Oh, you look great. Well, thank you. Dressed to impress with a superstar. Don't stop. You know, going coast to coast. Saturday got the game picked out. And then when it's time for the broadcast, this game is going to do a huge number. It does every year.

"It's really honestly not been good for anyone. This is probably been a bad week for the Arizona Cardinals. If Kyler Murray didn't put the time in before and clearly someone thought something because this cause was in. Yeah. Is this the thing that forces him to go screw everyone? I will show you guys and I'm going to work and I'm going to win and does this does his all of his flaws being called to the public? Does this trigger something? That is kind of the thing I'm most interested in. Or does he go the opposite way? And he becomes defiant and he refuses to do what they want him to do. And now the clause. So my children again. Yeah, no kids. Trust me, we're all dealing with kids who are being defiant. But Ian, they gave him a 130 mil guaranteed. And again, they don't have an option. You can't find franchise quarterbacks. But this is a guy, Ian, who, you know, and not to knock him, but ever since he stepped on a football field in high school, he's been utterly dominant. He did not lose a game in high school. Natural ability, just dominant, gets to college and part time starter at a and M instantly, you know, it ends up transferring goes to Lincoln Riley's system and is dominant and it's like number one pick, third year in the league, they get to the playoffs, like everybody's gone, and he's like, I don't really need to study. I'm that good. But to take the next step, I think we both agree. He's got to get better as a quarterback, right? Well, if you look at the way that the last, well, one of the last two seasons, I guess, have transpired. Something has happened at the end of the season. I mean, let's just talk about this year. I don't know, maybe the best team in football, right? Would you say for the first two months, at least? 7 no? Yeah, yeah. In the conversation, right? I think not sure everybody believed it, but there were certainly winning. Something happened. And the really, really good teams will take their time, will be methodical, will plan it out, and then we'll figure you out by the end, and it's the same reason why teams sometimes go with two game plans in the Super Bowl. Because the best teams are the ones that are the smartest to know how to attack you. So something was happening at the end of the season that led them to not be as successful. Does this change this? Did Kyler Murray not studying enough lead to this? I have a million questions, but we are all going to find out. And that's what makes this so fun. You know NFL teams are smart and, you know, if you don't adapt and change, people are going to figure you out. I mean, you know, we could talk about Lamar Jackson and Greg Roman. Greg Roman and Colin Kaepernick, you know, these unique quarterbacks, they kind of, I hate to say it, figure them out to an extent.

"I don't know. Don't ask me. Yeah. Gary, you're supposed to have answers for Kevin's mansky. It was, it was, boy, it's just been such a long year for baker, who, you know, obviously, you have all these questions about, will they commit to them? You say at this point, probably not. I mean, the season's not over. And look, the browns still are at a point where if it goes chalk in week, what do we have coming out week 17? If it goes chalk and the browns beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh, they will play the Bengals for the AFC north title in week 18. In their own building, that's a Bengals team that will beat on the road. So it's not over for them. And again, it just in a 5 day span you have to play your third quarterback and you end up losing on a last second field goal to the Raiders and then you go into Lambo and you play well enough to win, it's just like and if you're gonna tally up the four interceptions, it's funny. Baker was not completely at fault. He threw one really bad ball that was picked off. Other than that, you had probably probably a penalty on the last play. It should have been on rasul Douglas. But you also had to an early in the game where school Douglas essentially tackle the guy disrupting a route. And that turned into an interception. And then the other one was Jarvis Landry falling down. However, Baker Mayfield just played really poorly. Like he's throws in between those interceptions. We're just not good enough for the most part. And I don't know. It's really tough to trust him. And he almost feel like it's trending that direction. Where it's going to be like Matt nagging with Mitchell trubisky a couple years ago where it's like, boy, we can't ask him to throw the ball further than 5 yards up the field. It's just gonna be a lot of screens. A lot of quick in breaking stuff and let's survive this. And then just let the run game do the rest of it. Do you want to hear my outrageously like there's a lot of layers to my baker take, but do you want to do I don't want to devote too much time on the podcast? And you can just say no and we can move on to. I'm totally okay with that. I would I agree. I would like to hear this. Okay, well first off, I think if you take his numbers, so I did his numbers for the first 46 games of his career. That was the cutoff was the Houston game week two when he injured his shoulder. And he has basically on PAR-2 or in slightly in some ways better like beginning career than Russell Wilson, statistically. He's not bad. And I think what's weird is, everybody is like just assuming that this is going to be the steady Ascension from a guy who was completely thrown into the swamp since the second he got here, right? You'd Hugh Jackson, you had Freddy kitchens, you had the organization was incompetent and bungling up until the moment that Kevin Stefanski got there, right? And so he had the one good season with Kevin Stefanski and I just think we all have this idea of who we think Baker Mayfield is because he came from the Lincoln Riley system. He's confident and assertive..

"The hook. It's gonna be It's gonna be the mic right? Listen, the quarterback position is always micro dissected. This poor kid. I mean, after every snap Twitter is going to be a blaze both both positively negatively. Let me throw one theory at you. Well, actually, two The first one is relatively benign. I think the second is more interesting. So let's get the first one out of the way. Maybe the reason why the veterans didn't vote or I mean, obviously everybody vote him. Captain is because of the comments he made about the playbook that that stuck with them that he wasn't quite ready. But it was a year ago, and I think, and I think it was to contrast where he is now. Which is he's in full command of it. He thinks he is. Yep. Yep. Okay. I tend to agree. Which is why I thought that was of the two. The The less interesting of the two. I don't want to see. Completely. Not interesting. I'd like to think it was somewhat interesting. I throw it out there. But Brian Flores about this Brian floors went through a few trusted veterans, Okay? And said, Let's let's not making captain Let's held responsible. Not only lets Yes, I guess that that's a possible possible bride byproduct of it, but more like we don't know if he's going to be the quarterback. We might trade for DeShaun Watson. Like they still could trade for the Shawn Watson. Yeah. So you know what? Whomever his most trusted confidants and those guys who carry the water and deliver the messaging for Brian Flores, because can't always be the coaches, you know. Maybe it was communicated to them in some way. You know? Hey, guys, let's let's go. It's going a different direction with the captain. I doubt it was over like that, because I mean, I remember doing this in my days. It really was just kind of. It's just a feeling that you get when you're on a team and the team starts to to take its shape as the off season and the and the regular in the preseason get underway. You just kind of feel Who's in charge. You know what I mean? Like who's going to be the Belle Cowling Offences quarterback one running bags into the wide receiver, special teams guy that's going to do it. Who's going to lead the team? Defensively? You just you kind of get that feel. I think maybe to his personality might have something to do with this because he doesn't have that loud, bombastic. Like overly cocky personalities, not Zach Wilson does, by the way, I don't think Zack comes across his cocky, I think, is very, very confident, Confident, Cock different to me. It's the same thing. It's from a quarterback that perspective. It's It's the same thing like you. You're either carrying yourself like you're the the man or you're not Okay, right. And to me, it's cocky. Confidence doesn't doesn't matter. I don't think to. It carries himself like that. I don't think he walks into the room like this is my blank and room, right? I'm we're going places and you guys gonna get behind me and lied and I'm going to lead you. Right? I don't like to. It behaves that way. You think a lot of other quarterbacks? Absolutely. They didn't even know I was just I phrased it wrong. How many other quarterbacks if you're right about two? Uh, if that's the way he acts, and you might be How many other quarterbacks do you actually think carry themselves in a way that is less demonstrative and less confident or cocky. They can't be too many of them in the NFL. Uh, look, I don't think Lamar Jackson's that way. But Lamar Jackson gets on the field, and he's just like, all right, let's go. And he just balls. What about Kirk Cousins? Um, actually, I think Kirk cousins is probably that way because he He addresses everything. He he addresses the flea in the room and the elephant in the room. Kurt Cousins does not hide behind the fact that he's the start like whatever issues out there, he addresses it right as to why that issue that he had. Who is it was Stefon Diggs a couple of years ago. It just kind of got worked out because he addressed it, and they ended up doing okay for the rest of that season. After we had a tough, tough year. Uh, there you're right. There probably aren't many of them. But this is not to illuminate the guys that are doing it the way that I that I said, it's the guy who's not, and that's that's that's to it. He doesn't come off as that kind of player. Now. He may be. I don't know. I'm not in that locker room, but he doesn't feel like that kind of player. I find this interesting so You know Philly, All right. Jalen hurts, played a few games last year well, played a few games last year. To a first round pick top 10 J would hurt second round pick. He's the captain. Okay, meaning that hurts is a captain and and brother who's Who's Jalen hurts. Walks around like that. I'm just telling you Who do you think the captain for Washington Uh, the quarterback room. He is. Of course, guys been there two minutes. He's named Captain. Yeah, but he's Ryan Fitzpatrick Does that means Ryan Fitzpatrick? Don't make it like his damn Marina. Okay, but I don't I don't forget his statistics. Forget what we think we know about Ryan Fitzpatrick or the negative or positive opinions we have about Ryan Fitzpatrick. Brian Fitzpatrick is a legend in NFL locker rooms. I'm just telling you, he's legendary because of who he is how he walks in, and he's just there. Right. He has so much respect, no matter where he goes, he's beyond reproach is nothing negative that anyone can say about him Other than you had a bad season here. They're right. Or you stunk. Here there. Uh, you know, the Jalen hurts example is an interesting one. Filly isn't as in a transition year like they don't really know what's going on. And I know if anybody knows what's going on with with with with that team, but Jalen hurts. You saw it when he was at Alabama as a freshman, he took them to the college football playoff. He gave way to tour and didn't say boo about it and was a great leader behind the scenes behind to, uh, he gets them back the next year and pushes them into the championship. When tour got got got hurt and beating Georgia and the SEC championship, and then he transfers to Oklahoma. And he throws 33 touchdowns and Russia's for 20, right. He was he was unbelievable, like in any, and he commanded it just like that in Lincoln Riley system, which was vastly different then Nick Saban system at the time where I think it was Lane Kiffin system at the time. Um so Jalen hurts is that dude? I don't know if tour has that personality that we're talking about. And does that pretend that he's going to fail? Maybe, but we'll see. Do you think the Texans going to vote? They should have They voted to show and watchincaptain. I'm serious. Is he the captain? No. So so I'm looking at Wikipedia that lists all the captains. Yeah, So I'm assuming this is still for the Texans. It's still from last year because they haven't announced yet. There are a couple teams the Browns, the Cowboys. The Bears and the Ravens, who apparently announced their captains weekly. The Cowboys haven't announced their captains. They announced the captain's weekly got you, by the way. Look at the adjustment on the part of T V. What an unselfish move on my part, actually proactively getting my partner's name in the shot. Look at that. That went down yesterday is correct today. That's why they're awesome. More low and crew. Awesome. Plus, it makes Santa look like the little tiny person that he is more.

"Draft in the best ball mania to team for a chance to win one million dollars. Sales got the puppy. Fire away on that thing only five dollars and a nice little prize pool in that as well in the big dog dog Two hundred and fifty dollar entry right little has been She really pushing for a pet. I go about a puppy. And so she's like really. Let's yeah let's let's see what we can do right now so fired it up and we did a best ball trap. She wasn't happy with it. He was not happy with who bait and switch right. You should tell her. Hey if you win the puppy you get the puppy and have her draft team. Yeah if you win. Improperly gives us all right kramer you're the honors to wintel locks and a dog bit. You like for the big twelve college football conference okay. Locked number one sean. I mean i think you heard it using out of my voice but give me texas under. What are what are we doing here. Guys and then for the other lock Just kansas state. They have a lot of nice spots a lot of experience. And they're just the fact that they're two games below the texas oklahoma state. Tcu tear feels a little bit too far down. So let's lock that one up and for my dog. Lincoln riley has shown us he can produce a heisman. I also just told you that they're gonna go undefeated. So boy was shocked to see the spencer rattler heisman. Price seventy one. We were out in vegas at the win. We grab kobe three or four one. So the fact that it's popping higher perhaps just money coming in other other guys but the formulas there guys. If you go undefeated in a lincoln riley system going to be really hard for someone to beat ya. Not even undefeated. You could still lose that one game. But i'm saying they're going undefeated so if they go undefeated and he's the guy it's going to be hard for him to not walk away with the hardware. Yeah and that's et to me is an easier scenario. Rattler to win the heisman at seven to one versus them winning the college football playoff. Its plus seven fifty like between those two. Well i would like. I would like rattler to win the heisman more. Yeah no i mean again. We've seen it happened multiple times. Yeah and then. They didn't win. They didn't voting the couch football players championship. All right you know. i'm i'm with you on the lock of texas under seven and a half for for comedy sake and to make these different. I'm gonna give my first lock. Kansas over one no rock. Oh my gosh. I'm going to join you on lock city on the jayhawks over one. What are you guys doing. I trust good coaching. Sean make sure we pull this as a clip. You guys just coaching you guys around colby. Kansas over one is a lock as in my other lock is. I'm gonna take west. Virginia over six and a half wins. I like that play. I think that that morgantown is going to be lit this year. And i like the fact that the the way the schedule aligns for them they get a lot of their toughest opponents in morgantown so My dog i'm going to stay right there in morgantown plus eight hundred to make the big twelve championship. Oh yeah that west. Virginia play which by the way that's eight. Oh yeah that's not bad west. Virginia's lane three and a half against maryland. Week one. yeah let's kind of like it feels a little bit like we. You know early example of Late at three and a half. We're gonna be getting.
