"So I think starting from the obvious ones is is in say half of the world that lives under different shades of authoritarianism or half the world that lives under places that have literally hyperinflated in our lifetimes which is dozens of countries. People think of Weimar when they think of hyperinflation or they think of Zimbabwe. But it happened. It has happened to lead dozens of countries since the 80s. And and those are very populated countries in many cases. And then other other countries have dealt with you know significant double digit inflation. So I think the obvious thing is that it initially serves as a portable savings asset that's also censorship resistant. That's that's kind of the obvious characteristic. And even if it only ever gets to that point and only ever solves that problem that's already a huge contribution to humanity. It's basically like a it's inherently a asymmetric kind of individual empowerment technology that I think is just a good thing for the world that exists now. And then the longer run would be that if it can get bigger than that if it can if it can truly crowd out other monies and start becoming a true unit of account which I think is a long way off should we reach that point. But that's where you get the full benefits because that's where you get things like wage earners are now on equal or superior footing than wage payers because they the anchoring bias is now in their favor. You know even if their salary never changes it's still appreciating in real terms. And so there's and like the what we talked about before like you can't siphon if you can't easily siphon money off the top and give it to the corporations and the wealthy and the well-connected in the banks. That's an opportunity to be halfway there. Like even if you don't displace currencies but you remove some some percentage of monetary premium from currencies and put it in things like Bitcoin it at least reduces the scope with which those things can occur even if you don't reach the full unit of account situation. And I think the last thing is because you mentioned you want to touch on the currencies we know in say the United States Europe and Japan you know that the way they have been for the past 40 years are going to roughly be what they are for the next 40 years. We kind of assume that this is like a stable equilibrium. Whereas when you look at say Ray Dallas research in the long term debt cycle and the research I've done on it I've done elaborate research on that for the past probably four years now shows that they have increasing instability in their system. They're basically designed where they get more and more public debt growth relative to GDP. And then the problem is that if they ever want to raise industry as many of them have been doing now the deficit completely blows out and you get more and more fiscal driven inflation fiscal dominance and you risk getting these uncontrolled inflationary environments. And you can you think inflation has been on going so long. How do people still put up with it. It's just it's just a structural background thing that they have to deal with. And you could reach a point in developed countries where their debt and deficits are so large and they're constantly being monetized by the central bank that you just have a higher background level inflation and it becomes more obvious to more people. And you get kind of emerging market characteristics in these advanced countries. And you know maybe it's not on the level that we see in Argentina but it's directionally the same type of concept where it's like inflation's constant above target. They never seem to know how to get it under control. You know they might be able to say OK technology and other things are deflating the long tail of stuff. But all of the desirable energy intensive scarce assets are going up dramatically in currency terms. And Bitcoin can prevent a lot of that. Bitcoin is like a release valve that people can turn to if they find themselves stuck in these environments that might be more inflationary in the future than we've grown accustomed to in our lifetimes. "I was talking to wine this morning We literally just had this conversation and he was like, yeah, I just turned a billion seconds Yeah, they're like a little while ago and they're like, how long's a billion seconds? It's like it's like 30 something years I think it's 31 or something and then we and then we were talking and I'm like Like how long's a million seconds and he did the math. So this is wine's math. Don't get mad at me But apparently a million seconds is like three months and a billion seconds is 31 years So again few people understand exponentials that they you can't wrap your head around big numbers and this is the game We're playing guys. So like if you're feeling bearish and you're feeling bad about your stack, man, I think You got to wake up to the fact of what the game is going on and and the Bitcoin you hold today as long as you can hold it long term is Obviously going to be some good generation of wealth that you can pass on but for the culture obviously the right number is you need 6.15 for eternal riches and But no, I mean Yeah, yeah exactly, yeah, that's the mean but I think the real question here is time span And that's what they're saying in the chat and and Derek touched on it as well. I think it's The like view like when are you trying to retire you if you're trying to retire tomorrow, then obviously you want tens of Bitcoin Plus, but if you are like me who hopefully has another 60 years of working I think the coin that we are owning today is going to be enough to retire But of course, hey, I'm a greedy Bitcoiner and I want as many sets as possible under my control. So Never enough Bitcoin to retire Nico is my final answer cuz I'm bearish. I'm being bearish today. I love that. I love that Yeah, I mean it really is dependent on time, right? I Completely agree. Are we talking about retiring right now? I would agree for if you want to retire right now would say Probably you know, I don't know. I don't know how you Bitcoin If you wanted to you know, keep going and be Stupidly rich moving forward, but Nico you just reminded me of the website Satoshi's per person again You know 8 billion people divided by 21 million the quote-unquote fair share is what? 240,000 sats right now. So like I Again, I just think we're so bearish because we don't understand exponentials and big numbers. So like just keep stacking Alright, so I'm gonna end the poll Before we move on we're gonna switch it up today Opti We're gonna go with the culture before the news, but I'm gonna end the poll and the poll says The audience says we had 97 votes and I said how much Bitcoin do you need to retire? 30% of you said five 25% of you said one 25 percent of you said ten and Seventeen percent of you said point one. So it looks like five is What the crowd is saying that's how much Bitcoin you'll need to retire Anyways guys before we get to the culture, I want to give a shout out to our sponsor Bitcoin 2024 It's gonna be the largest Bitcoin conference on the face of the earth. All right Opti. What are we talking about today brother? Of course Well, we're talking about what these gentlemen are working on. So I like to just give our guests the floor I don't know if it's Derek or Chris who wants to re rehash on what the ideas but what is jewel part? What are you guys working on? Maybe I will first Eric. So yeah, we what we want to do is we want to decentralize and Bitcoin and bring mining back home because I want everybody Derek and I are both We want to be responsible people in the community and we want to give back so we created this product so that Anybody can get into the game and start mining Bitcoin at their home We've set it up so that he's gonna pay your electrical bill It's gonna heat your house for free and there's going to be money left over We're suggesting that people pay their electrical bill themselves If they can afford it and keep as many Bitcoin as they possibly can once you've got that system in your house, then you're in the game and You know, you can keep going once again. It's a long-term thing Our company is going to continually Innovate and make our Bitcoin mining machines faster better everything err and then there's going to be other opportunities for financial companies to come in and you know There's going to be maybe you can lend out your bitcoins make more money that way so long as you don't get scammed We believe in custody that you own you keep your bitcoins in your own wallet with your titanium All of that stuff in can help people out in the future. So we're here to help and We want everybody to jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon Love it. Can't agree more can agree more. All right Derek do you want to touch in or we can jump in on your guys's flagship model right now? Sure You know what that that's actually what I'd like to touch in about the idea behind the Jewel cube mini is that it goes in your home It's able to go into your already existing mechanical room and then tie in to your home heating system whether it's Radiant heating if you have in floor heating or if you have forced air Because we're using immersion technology in order to cool the miners You don't need to worry about having proper ventilation for the miners itself You don't need to worry about noise if anyone who was like me who was running an ASIC out of the garage Back back a few years ago. You probably got the Honestly, even if you were running an ASIC in your garage You probably got a complaint from my lady because she she got annoyed at everybody who was doing it by by the end of Probably the last cycle we had about three or four Homes on my block that you could tell they were mining at home because the garage doors were open just a little bit And you could hear the the fans running from their ASICs What's nice about this is because it's immersion cooled mining It stays in the cube. It goes through a indirect hot water tank Which means that the process water heats up your domestic hot water tank and then cycles through to either a heat exchanger in your forced Air system through your in floor heating through your radiant heating in order to lower those utility bills It's it's great for Which I which I am always considering and being able to have a way to start mining your own Bitcoin Love it So if you don't mind me asking What what a six are using like how what's the actual? Technicals on on how this works like with the Bitcoin a sick machine set that you guys have chose So primarily we've been using the bit main s 19 XP's a couple reasons for that It gives you the most efficient terra hash per electricity being used which means once we get to the next having You're still going to you're still going to be in a good place one of the big things that we also like about it is that the XP's have been Very adaptive towards overclocking software as well as adaptive software. So depending on what our clients are using if they want to be able to Tone down the amount of hash rate. They're putting out lower the amount of electricity that they're using This is really important in areas like I believe Ontario. I know a lot of states have adjusted electricity rates depending on the time of day, so Overnight you're looking at three four cents per kilowatt hour But in those high times of usage you're looking at 15 16 even 17 cents per kilowatt hour so having the software available that's able to throttle it whether it's whether it's maximizing the amount of terra house that you're getting or having the most efficient system or Depending on your needs if you're in the middle of winter, you need to start generating more terra house Generating more heat then you're able to have that in place Interesting. Okay, so I'm seeing on this website If they get a juke cube mini this looks like a different one They they just get this box here. They you come in and you install this whole system for them So we actually work with local hydronic contractors. So my background actually was in civil waterworks And I was building my own miners at home starting off with the GPU rigs and then playing around with a6 One of the big things that we do is we work with local Plumbing contractors we work with local electricians. We do this for two reasons Number one, we're not going to travel all around the world to install the machine in your house there are local experts that are going to be able to do that a whole lot better because the jewel cube system works very similar to Boilers that are already being used in hydronic heating systems. So what we do is get a local hydronic plumber They'll be bonded within your within your area So that's an especially important when it comes to insurance and they're able to install Those systems in there. What we do is we provide the project management. We make sure that they have the right materials and Are able to work with their local Distribution in order to make sure that they're getting the right products in order to put these in place So if you if you take a look at the system as a whole there You'll see that it has that indirect hot water tank as well as that liquid air heat exchanger That would be ideal for a forced air system and we'd work with the contractors to make sure that it goes in correctly So each house may have its Specific metrics that you need you might not have a force their system and do radiance so you don't need one of the pieces So, you know, it's it's pretty cookie cutter but we look at everybody's house a little bit differently and The cube is the main thing and then it sends heat to the indirect hot water tank You don't have to take out your other hot water tank The extraction fan on the other side is if there is extra heat that you don't need it takes it outside And so it's a pretty easy system Interesting interesting. Well Nico, you're the in-house miner or the old in-house miner. What's your thoughts on everything? You got some questions yeah, so when I so back in the day back in 2016 I was making holes on the side of my side of my house at the time To just vent out the exhaust heat from these bad boys at the time. It was like what was the s9? Force it was the it was the big bad boy. I was doing the same thing So but uh, but yeah, they were loud You can hear them. You know, we put them in like The garage that was a bedroom, but we converted it into the mining room, but you could still hear it from the living room I I would call it the sound of freedom. But uh, but you know, it's interesting cuz we're we're Where you know in colder places? Do you put one s9 in a room and that room's gonna get hot like it's gonna get real real hot So I'm really interested to hear about How you guys managed to pull off the the noise like so it's still you know, I'm assuming it's an ASIC, right? Yep. Yeah, it's immersion. So we use what's called a dielectric fluid and the tank has this dielectric clue So it's non-conductive and you just put it in there. There's no noise. It's quiet Yeah, that's awesome more noise and it just you know works with there's a pump in the back You can barely hear it right Derek. We had it set up and that's right. This is in there is no noise So we fixed it. It actually uses the same sort of technology. I know I've mentioned hydronic heating Before it uses the same idea as either a boiler system or or a heat pump where it pumps through the system your heating system of your home and then through That dry cooler which would sit outside which works exactly like a mini split dry fan That's currently being used in In hydronic and heat pump installations, so that's that's where you're able to get that very very low noise And anyone that's got their air conditioner system their mini split outside of their home They'll they'll be very familiar with the same type of system that we've got here Man, that's that's really really cool. And then yeah, there we go. Thanks Opti for pulling that up Okay interesting Interesting, okay, so You were taught compared to let's say you wanted to heat your home traditionally You know, is this more expensive to install and then it you know, and then over time It starts to become cheaper because you made an investment. How does this compare to heating your home traditionally? If you don't mind there there are two really good things about this We've got our mini system which is designed to go into either a new home or into a Into a place that is redoing their heating system We also have our jewel cube Reynolds and what that's designed to do is actually supplement your current heating system so if you've got a Hot water tank that needs to get replaced The indirect hot water tank is able to do so if you've got a forced air system What we would use is the the hydronic loop in that air to water heat exchanger in order to supplement your furnace so This doesn't replace Your current home heating system this this adds to it. So that's that's one of the things that makes this system unique We're not asking to rebuild your home. We're asking to make your home better Interesting and the price point we want to get so what we're trying to do is we're gonna keep it about to 15,000 which is in line with say heat pumps or any other systems But the difference with this is that you're making money with our system a heat pump doesn't make money. It's just the money drain So we're moving from things that cost you money to something that makes you money So 15,000 and then you're gonna add your miners. You can pick your miners. We left that open because some people there's different Situations where people want more or less heat Like I said, one of our customers just loves it He's gonna put in eight and he's gonna he's lives up in Ontario where it's cold and he's gonna run these guys He's got a pool to heat up. He's got a hot tub. His house is big He's going for it and he's really happy about what's what's gonna happen and it's even though his price point is gonna be above that He's gonna be making Bitcoin right away and he's bullish on it. That's awesome Yeah, and it kind of kills two birds with one stone right now then we should keep that question up Opti we'll get yeah Yeah, I'll pull it up. So it kind of kills two birds with one stone, right? You're you're using the excess heat, you know off these a6 right that are making you money in the process making you Bitcoin And then you're using that to also heat your home, right? Which is this is absolutely beautiful It's something unique to Bitcoin also, right? You could make the argument. Oh, yeah other proof-of-work coins. Yeah, but that's bullshit Anyways, um, could you could you pull up that question from Big Sean? Shout out Big Sean? Basketballs life Bitcoin is basketball. How often does the dearly I can't say that word Fluid have to be replaced slash renewed So that depends on what climate you're in First could you could you say that word because I couldn't say the electric Die electric die electric die electric, okay, it's urging what is dielectric fluid for anyone who doesn't know so dielectric fluid is Think of mineral oil or another fluid that's non-conductive So what that means is that it's it's what gets used for immersion cooling in systems Where you're able to put your miner in that liquid and then it's and then it won't short out Your machines, so obviously if you dunk your miner in in water just like if you did with your toaster That miner is not going to work again When you have it in a dielectric fluid, it's able to cycle through Heat exchanger cool off the miner and keep the miner working Gotcha, and that's important. So and to answer the question I would say maybe every 10 years and it depends on how Like if you put dirty machines in there like you want your machines clean before you put them in But yeah, I would say not even up to 10 years. It doesn't really have a life cycle And we're not that far out. I mean lots of the big data centers. They just leave the die die electric fluid in forever It doesn't really have it doesn't deteriorate. It's in a contained in tame in a contained container so dust can't get in there's no You know, nothing can Change it And the other thing about the dielectric fluid is that we can control the heat So the miners are running at an optimum tension Optimum temperature and that allows them to we can overclock them. They last longer. They stay cleaner It's just a really great system and they use it in big data centers all the time. Anyway Very very cool. Okay, one last question before we move on. I know we're not running out of time. We're not moving on We're just doing numbers culture and then we're going to go to memes. Uh, Okay. All right. All right. Well, I have a question. Uh, there were some questions about maybe doing this in germany Like what are you guys trying to expand like what's what's the deal here? Yeah So we're the rnd the research both there and derek and our canadian and we the original Research and development done by myself and then derek and I got on on working together But our expansion plan is down into the united states and if you look at our website, we've got a really great Guy down there. His name is mori rubin and uh, he's just uh A great guy that knows how to start and run companies bigger companies. Um, I I'm not i'm not down in the u.s. So he's our partner down there and uh, that's going to be our biggest market We we like canada, of course, we're going to sell them up here But um, we're already in the process of setting up a us corporation with mori and um, we're soon going to be able to um, Offer the mini mind series and the mac. It's a juke cube cube. Sorry juke cube series, uh to America to you guys down in the us very soon Because we're we don't want anybody to miss the 6.25 And get your stuff in before the halving that's kind of what we're pushing for So the sooner you get your stuff up and running the more sats you're going to be able to stack. Okay, um So if if someone is interested in this and they live in a cold part of the world, right? You know live in canada or like north north america, you know the northern states Um, they have harsh winters or you live in colorado and whatnot. Um, How what's the process of getting this installed? Uh, do you need does a tech go out there? Is it do it yourself? Uh, what is it? You know, what's the process of doing this and then also how much does it cost are there? I know there's a there's a max version and then there's the The what are the two uh, two products that you guys offer? Okay, so so You go to our website and there's a form where you fill out and you go. Hey, i'm interested in a jewel cube And so then we get that information we'll connect with you each house is slightly different So depending on the size of the house, we'll recommend what you want and what you get in there And then basically derek and i've got it set up. We put the package together. We we deliver it to you Gets on your front door at the same time There's a plumber and electrician that we've got ready for you and they go into the house and they you know We we've got pictures of your basement. We know where everything's going to go and simply they install it Derek and I will be the guys at the very beginning who will oversee everything to make sure there's no issues And for the price point, like I said, we're trying to keep the jewel cube miniseries about 15 000 and There are also ways to finance it you could do a heloc which is home equity loan or there's other financing options So you don't have to put all the money up up front and then the miners on top of that if you buy the xp's They're pretty expensive. I think they're what 3200 right now derek Um, so you're talking, you know 22 000 price point to get in but like I say once you plug that in you're making Bitcoins and you're making money and your electrical costs are going to be paid and there's money left over at the end of the month So it's a it's a pretty sweet system Gotcha. Yeah, so and one of the parts about it, uh, we do work with local contractors So the idea is uh, even though this is going in your home. We actually say don't try this at home, right? Uh because you know, I i'm sure uh nico you mentioned that you did a lot of mining at home. I did as well Uh, and I I certainly made a lot of mistakes as as we started out I know a lot of people who who have done miners at their home that did their own diy project And it turned out to not work out very well for them Uh, that's the big reason why with this being a hydronic system We work with local contractors who are professionally bonded Uh, so that's that's one of the biggest things about that on the electrical side again We work with local electrical contractors who are bonded and one of the big things when you fill out our form That you're looking for a jewel cube in your uh in your home We'll coordinate with you in project management That uh, and then what we will do is actually audition to contractors in your area who are able to perform that work Uh, and that's that's more than anything is to make sure that you're getting not just the right equipment and the right process But the right installation in order to make sure that this works And then there's a flip side too. There's the educational component lots of people don't know that much about bitcoins So we help them set up a wallet There's a variety of products out there of really good guys like a coin kite where you can get a card Just a card. You don't even have to deal with bitcoins We want people to take custody of their bitcoin so they're not putting up on an ftx exchange and getting ripped off So, you know, we provide that educational process there too. One of the other things that we do is we can scale this So we also have the jewel cube max series and so that can go for like greenhouses industrial buildings Hotels anything with large swimming pools and in just instead of like these tanks with four or eight miners in there We have larger ones that have 24 or 48 and we could produce up to 800,000 btu and heat a whole hotel And make money and lower the carbon footprint just like you would for a house. So it's very scalable The other thing about the the jewel cube series is what I would like to see is the more people that are on board Like just say you had 10,000 houses and everybody was mining. You could have your own pool Um, we will we we will collectively become stronger and stronger as a group If you can imagine a hundred thousand people say in north america that had a jewel cube installed in their house And they were running 400 terahash. That's a pretty big Chunk, you know that of people that would be the benefiting from bitcoin Yeah, and it's uh, you know, it's decentralized hash rate now One of the things that I ran into when I was mining at home was the actual Electrical capacity of my home, right? So do you need to make any changes to that? uh specifically Yeah, you do, uh, and actually I I think that someone had a Uh question in your chat, uh, what's needed in there usually for for a typical mini? Uh, you do need 220 amp outlets. Uh, it is at 240 volts chances are if it's in a normal home You're probably going to need your electrician to come in and do an upgrade on there That's something that uh, again We we make sure that we work with local bonded contractors in order to ensure that's uh, that's done properly It's not that big of a deal I want everybody to understand that he's going to put in two or three or four different breakers With slightly more ampers like 25 amps, so it's not a big deal And he's just going to bring the power to wherever the jewel cube is going to be so Not a big deal Gotcha, interesting. Well, man, you guys are are really contributing to the decentralization of the bitcoin network and that's awesome And also people are able to not freeze to death and make some stats along the way so that's pretty cool Um, and uh, if you guys want to check out their website opti, could you pull it up, please? The website. Yeah, one second and actually I want to quickly answer one other question I saw on there. Uh About minor interchangeability. Like I said, we've been talking about the ant miners that we're using now Uh, we've used what's miners as well. Uh, we've used uh, Actually, we we've stuck so far with the ant miners and the what's miners at this point However, one of the nice things about this system is that it is designed, uh, not for particular miners But to be able to hold uh as many types of miners as possible. So as uh, As we scale up as more miners become available What we're going to make sure is that we have uh, the specific immersion tanks available for any type of minor that uh, That our clients will be needed very very cool. All right guys We're green We're one last comment is I just want to mention that we're green right the more We can move people off fossil fuels, which is what the what the governments want everybody to do We're helping out with that movement too. So we're using more electricity, but we're lowering your carbon footprint. Awesome. Very very very cool All right, everybody before we move on to the meme section. "Personally, I think they can. How high does it have to get over 4.03? Yes, sir. Could be. I mean, just my left curve take of it is, to me, the bonds market thinks US jobs data is strong, and they're giving the Fed more leeway to hike as necessary. They're giving them more slack to, OK, make sure that inflation is good and killed. We'll give you even more rope to do your job. Yeah, although you have to be really careful with what he says, quite publicly, Bill Ackman has come out and said he's shorting treasuries and expects yields to go much higher, which, if that's the case, I really want to see how the stock market reacts with a 10-year above 3.5, excuse me, 4.5. Yeah, I think that Bill Ackman tweet, I think it was an account called Paulo Macro who's been in that tweet for the better part of a year. So I'll point people to Paulo Macro, honestly. But what they said there, I agree. It's kind of hard to find out who's going to be the buyers, especially since this Japan debacle this week where you see the yields rise there. Is that going to suck capital over to the Japanese bond market instead of treasuries? And they're historically one of the biggest buyers of treasuries. And so you have all these dynamics when you look at who's actually going to be the buyers. And this is what Luke Gromen has talked about for many years, and Lin-Alden, who's going to be the buyer. And so really, there's always going to be a buyer. It's just going to be at a higher yield to attract them. And so I do think that we could see the long end continue to rise here and make new highs. And I think that's definitely, definitely possible. And then couple that with what Matt just said. If the economic data keeps coming in stronger, that's going to give the Fed more confidence to be more aggressive and continue to raise heights. Perhaps the market will expect the terminal rate to continue to increase and we can just continue to see it increase. So that's kind of how I'm thinking through things. I really point people towards multiple threads that Paulo Macro has put out on this topic. Just really, really insightful threads. Maybe from a year or a year and a half ago. So go check out that. Thanks for that, Sam. I'll just say I don't understand this argument one bit about there's not going to be buyers. I mean, it seems almost silly. You have an inverted yield curve, which by definition, you have more people demanding those instruments versus short-term instruments. So I think this argument, there's never going to be buyers or treasuries. I've been hearing it for 15 years. It seems kind of ridiculous.

I think this was like two weeks ago. And we wanted him to come on. We actually had double booked him on that day. But today is the day. Memes for 30 minutes because you guys only care about the video. Before I unleash the jackals by the name of wine on the memes, I want to achieve this up a little bit. So if you guys are bitcoiners, you guys know who dirt GG is. And he dropped epic masterpiece on Bitcoin memes and I just want to read the first paragraph because it's something that we've said on simply Bitcoin in written form and on the show. But it's just beautifully poetic. Someone who star continues to rise once said that Bitcoin isn't just memes. Well, I disagree. It's all memes all the way down and let me explain and Gigi goes on for 45 minutes explaining why it's all memes all the way down. Well, to give you guys a recent example, you guys are all of a part of The New York Times FUD piece against Bitcoin mining. You know, the hit piece against Bitcoin mining. And we saw this account pop up the stop the presses at New York Times is up, but I really like this tweet that Lin Alden said, and I think it really does frame everything that we're trying to talk about here. And I know that memes sometimes get a bad rep because we just having fun. We're just enjoying the time. We're making each other laugh. But memes are powerful. It is all memes. Everything is a meme as far as I'm concerned. And we are in a mimetic war right now. It is an information war, and you guys are battling it with mimetic warfare yourselves.

"You're like, oh God, I love you. It feels good. I feel so good. All right, well, last time we spoke a week ago, I told you that we were going to break into another topic, but I thought, you know, to do it justice, we didn't want to just squeeze it into 5 or ten minutes. So that's why we're having a round two today. I don't know if it will require as long. We'll see. But before we do, I mean, any thoughts or any developments, since we spoke on this whole banking crisis, the start of the week seems to be at least somewhat uneventful, no big news drops or anything like that. I think the only quiet, but the fed is now unprofitable. Well, yeah. But that was the case. Before, too, right? Then they have a technically technically they had an inflow of capital because they're able to create what they get interest on. But now it's Lynn Alden. I actually haven't read the piece, but I read a tweet thread by Nick bhatia, was it in the Bitcoin layer? It wouldn't tweet thread. I don't know. Somebody have been keeping the little notes on it, and may need to go back to it, but and that's probably a piece I will read by Lin Alden this week. But essentially, despite the fact that the fed has a huge balance sheet, like that they're massively indebted, essentially, they have a massive imbalance that they're constantly printing money and issuing liabilities and buying bonds, right? But they are actually, they actually make a return, like the member banks actually quote unquote, own the Federal Reserve banks that create the Federal Reserve system. So it's a pseudo private entity, but it is literally. And it's always paid out tiny dividends to all of its supposed member banks because it quote unquote makes money. By working for government and major institutions in selling liabilities. But that was not doing that anymore. It's basically it's going to change. It's gone negative. Just the scope of what they, this will be something that I'll cover that it would lend Alden and the other pieces I'm going to read clearly a lot of details to work out as to exactly why.

"Every chair and every couch is $4000, right? Like everything's like super, super expensive. But then it turns out that there's not actually a market for that and the prices like super, super inflated and all the prices collapse and they go on fire sale and all that all the couches and all the furniture and everything is now like a hundred bucks a piece. That's what we want. That's what we want because then the person who has the $5000 worth of savings gets the resources and they actually know how to productively use them. The business owner that was already actually running a surplus now has more resources, which means more resources in the economy are dedicated to running surpluses instead of being consumed. Instead of being destroyed by a bunch of zombie corporations who make a 2% nominal gain every year in a 10% inflationary environment, which just means they lost 8% of the value of everything that went through their system, they're destroying things. We need to stop it. We need to stop it. And if it's not going to stop, if they're going to keep doing this until the running the entire country and the entire freaking world and all of us and our savings and our pensions and our retirements into the ground, they will eat everything before they admit they are making a mistake. Well, then the best thing we can do is protect ourselves from it. Is exit. And that is why we Bitcoin. I don't even know there's like a whole crap ton of notes that I have for this one, which I'll probably have to wrap into some other episode. We're going to be covering a lot of different things on this. Lin Alden has like another two pieces that I want to read already. She needs to stop writing. Stop writing good stuff, unbelievable. I don't have the time for all of this. But I didn't get to like so much of my stuff. I just kind of ranted. But that's how I feel about it. And that's what I think is going on. And maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm wrong. You know, I don't know.

I think in the sense that we get a chance to kind of dice up different analysis and viewpoints and that's really kind of what our show is about is to try to give more education into the markets and understanding macro, understanding these effects on the market, Darius, I want to jump to Lin Alden's tweet. I want to start with that. And I'm going to zoom in on this just a little bit. It says numbers are in fez balance sheet increased by 300 Bill last week. Silvergate, and Silicon Valley bank, distress, sparks major fears for U.S. economic outlook in a gloomy economy, which is still reeling from prolonged lockdowns in a yearlong war in Ukraine. How about from the flaws of our financial system that includes these banks? How about we give the blame where it's due here instead of blaming Ukraine? Let's see. Investment major Lin Alden, she's not an influencer. Remember that? She's not influencer because she said so. Coming to the only a tiny fraction of the total $17.6 trillion in U.S. bank deposits is actually backed up by physical cash. Well, I'm glad they got that from her. Let me tell you that on the show almost every day. Goldberg Peter Schiff chimed in coming that the U.S. may be on the verge of another financial crisis by gold. That's what I'm sure he says. Big four banks net unrealized loss. Look at that. That's insane. Yeah. That is the Bank of America JPMorgan city and Wells Fargo. Thanks for getting wrecked. Also, read this from Jason and the creative. Wells Fargo had a system glitch this morning in customer funds are missing. I'm missing a few thousand. I just looked it up and confirmed they're like, oh, sorry, sorry for the glitch. We've got to pause withdrawals, but it just coincidence. Yeah. It's just been this issue. Sure. Uh, okay. Well, all this stuff, more evidence for why we need Bitcoin. Banks shouldn't punish crypto industry or Republican senators, urge, increasing regulatory crackdown on banks, serving crypto industry players may be punishing an entire industry, January 3rd, the three regulators that, of course, I believe would be these Republicans here. Or is it talking about the SEC and the things are about the SEC, the OCC and the CFTC? It says the three regulators warned they would take a careful and cautious approach to banks interactions, crypto companies, following a spate of collapses. Today's ago, silvergate collapsed. I think, man, I think all this stuff is great. I want to be honest with you. Thank you for the super chat. I think it's great. I think we are clearing a lot of we're opening a lot of eyes and we're clearing away a lot of issues with the toxic weeds and crypto, the bad actors, and then also, hey, let's actually stop playing redirect and let's take a look at the biggest scam which are the banks to begin with. "They are, they are the hubris of man manifest. And there is no positive outcome. They can not control society into the outcome they desire or the outcome that they believe is best because it is the pretense of knowledge to believe you know it the best outcome is. It is to foretell the economic evaluation of things that only the free exchange can possibly give you the economic valuation of. It is the idea that we can predict the future and that we know what future is going to be best and where people should go and that we should manipulate control sensor and violently force people into that future. When there's no time in history in which the current view would ever have legitimately or sufficiently predicted where things were going and what would be the better outcome. It's simply doesn't work. It is anti economic. To believe that you can control the economy. And then in that same vein, you know, Lin Alden talks about towards the end is that whether or not, you know, we have these open monetary or information networks and which one is in the lead and then talking about like these top down approaches and the surveillance and the control and to suggest that this is a problem because of the one point where the many billions of people who live under authoritarianism. Whereas I think that kind of misses the point a little bit. And I'm not saying that Lynn feels this word that Lin is not making this comparison. I think she's legitimately just trying to be impartial in talking about the systems themselves as opposed to the specific application of these systems and the institutions that would control them and what they would do with them. But I think it's to suggest, if we get these sorts of tools and systems permanently installed into western society, it's not a matter of whether or not we are under authoritarianism and whether or not they would be they would create negative consequences. It's that the instantiation of these things as parts of our entire societal system that can not be that you can not get around is authoritarianism. That's exactly what it is. This would institute authoritarianism aside from any idea of individual rights or freedom or a constitution or anything like that. So it's not that authoritarians would use these tools in a bad way and therefore we don't want these systems to be built because there are authoritarians, these systems are inherently authoritarian. Like to implement them whatsoever means that we have achieved authoritarianism. And simply put,

"That privilege. Hey, Greg vos, good morning. Hey, guys. Good morning. Long weekend, a great weekend at Jackson hall, and I'm just here to announce I'm leaving Twitter again. So fuck off. Actually, one of the reasons I didn't leave Twitter is because of the beautiful people that are here and it actually made me to not be involved in the spaces community. So that is a certain competitive advantage or not a competitive advantage, but as certain new advantage of the Twitter platform is in space as community and the value that it brings in a live platform. But I wanted to ask, what is the difference between? I think I know the difference between discovery and Mastercard and Visa and all that. But what did Lin Alden say the difference was, please? Discovery and I am X are actually banks and Mastercard and Visa are just technology that banks use to create credit cards for their customers. But they're based on the same thing. Charging exorbitant fees for the privilege of a merchant to offer the solution. Okay? Average merchant fees in North America are around two and a half percent, regardless of the credit card AmEx was a little higher. You know that merchant fees in South America are 8% correct. So when you run a small business like a pop that I'm a partner in Montreal, our average EBITDA margin, which means your pre-tax cash flow margin is about 14 cents on every dollar. And when someone chooses to pay with a credit card, two and a half cents of that 14 cent margin is taken from the merchant by the merchant fees rather to the credit card company. And in El Salvador, for example, those same merchant fees are 8%. So if you are a good operator or a restaurant operator, he had El Salvador. By the way, restaurants and pups are shitty business and so a 14% EBITDA margin is nothing to write home about. But if you're 14% EBITDA margin gets carved in half by merchant fees in El Salvador, which are 8%, don't you think there's an incentive to move to a frictionless payment rail and this is, I guess there isn't that much of a difference in my mind between them, Peter. I think our series vaccine, I think that basically the discovery if I'm not mistaken was started by Sears roebuck, right? It means of charging their clients more outside of the Sears system. And it's just a way of gouging and it's a very profitable business until it isn't. And that's why if I was managing money professionally, I'd have a pretty substantial short position on some of these egregious fee providers like Western Union and eventually the merchant sorry, the credit card company. So keep an eye on that. You guys, there's no question why JPMorgan and Jamie Dimon don't like Bitcoin. And that's because it's going to disintermediate one of their most profitable speak gouging systems, which is the credit cards of Visa and Mastercard, which are issued by JPMorgan bank. So keep an eye open for that. It's all about mathematics. Thanks.

"20 minutes. But I also want to ask down a question in the meantime, Ben. When it comes to wallets, lightning wallets in particular. How does one parse through, you know, I know for me personally, I just try them. And I just go, okay, I like this one. This one's easy to use. I get used to it. And then like with lightning, it went away. So I'm now on wallet at satoshi. But my question is, what is the trusted source so that somebody who is new can know, hey, you know what? This wallet is good enough. Oh, trusted source. I mean, I wouldn't say that, I mean, this is a Bitcoin, right? There's no one trusted source and we've had a history of people that were, you know, had a ton of good takes over the history of Bitcoin. And then pivoted to be not especially friendly to it or just like go down a path that may be detrimental to people that are listening. I would say even, I mean, especially for myself, too. I'm not immune to maybe I pivot some on have a bunch of really bad takes. So I think people should scrutinize everything I do as well. Are you kind of saying, just like in trad 5, be careful, do your best. Don't put a lot out there. So in other words, if I've got 20 bucks and I lose it because I did something wrong, that's better than having a thousand bucks is losing it because I did something wrong. Is that kind of what you're getting at? Yeah, yeah, a 100%. I think, again, when you're dealing with your own money, I think the best bet is kind of let your knowledge reflect where your funds are allocated. So you know on chain, you know how to secure on chain funds. Well, fantastic. Keep the majority of your Bitcoin on chain secured with a hardware wallet that you're comfortable with. And then your experimenting with lightning and you're using it day to today will wonderful, but how much do you really need in a lightning wallet day to day? And that depends on the individual, but like you said, oh, I just try out lightning wallets and I hop around, I see what I like. And then I use whatever works best for me. I think that's totally fine. And it depends on your priorities and some people are very purist in that approach and while I need the node and I need the liquidity and I need to establish the channels or I at least want, I want the keys. I want the keys. I can have the automated liquidity. So I'm going to use breeze, or I'm going to use Phoenix. Or to a degree moon. And I know there's some wizardry in the background that makes it not pure lightning, but it effectively is you still have the keys and it's automated in a sense. And then there's others that are saying, dude, I got 20 bucks. I don't give a shit. Satoshi, I downloaded it, and it worked immediately. I'm fine with this. It's 20 bucks. So yeah, you know, when it's the majority of your money, be very conscientious about it. When it's just experimentation and day to today spending and you've got 20, 50 bucks kicking around, then you use your discretion. You can still continue to learn, but if you're not worried about 20 bucks, then then, yeah, then pop it around wherever, and then also that gives you the should I use word opportunity. I will. It gives you the opportunity to make a mistake and learn from it because nothing is better the teacher than saying fuck. I lost 20 bucks. What happened? And then digging into what happened. I've had those moments where it's like, oh, shit. What happened to my money now? And you have to actually, then you have to ask the question of, I don't want to do that again, and I don't want to do that with more money. What happens? Why did that not work? Is it something I should be aware of? And then should I avoid this behavior in the future? And yeah, so for small amounts of money, experiment, pop around, see what works best for you and limit your exposure if you don't fully understand what you're doing. Good stuff, good advice. I'm glad we could hear Peter through his ski mask there. With that, we are going to transition. I'm going to do a couple of announcements here, and then we're going to transition into macro. We've got Stephen lupit here. We've got Tarantino here. Our usual macro guess and of course we have Dan and Josh from blue collar Bitcoin, who are going to most definitely enhance our macro discussion. So we will pivot to that momentarily. I'm just going to hit some quick announcements here. You guys are listening to cafe Bitcoin hosted by swan Bitcoin. It is entirely possible that Gary gensler himself is listening right now under a nim. We can not rule that out. We do this every weekday Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. eastern as a live Twitter spaces. If you were listening earlier, this is also being played on no shout out to Derek Ross, who helped make that happen. You are the man for that. Appreciate it. And if you want to catch the recording, we post it as a podcast and you can find that in the usual places, fountain Spotify, Apple, et cetera. Alex stands at your usual host. I am guest hosting for Alex today. My name is John harr and I'm part of the private client services team here at swan for any of you who don't know me. We also refer to that as swan private. And I also want to hit on Bitcoin or job. So many of you are probably familiar with this, but Bitcoin or jobs, one of the best places to look if you are looking to be hired by a Bitcoin company and you want to see what companies are out there, what positions are they hiring for? Or if you are part of a Bitcoin company and you want to hire for your company, Bitcoin or jobs, one of the best places to go for that simple website with some filters on there that make it super easy to use. So that's big corner jobs. I will say really quick tomer mentioned this earlier, but there's a new Lin Alden article that dropped, it's called the implications of open monetary and information networks. I have not read it because it literally dropped in the last 24 hours, but I am very much looking forward to reading it. Last announcement is swan IRA. If you believe that Bitcoin is generational wealth, which of course we believe here at swan, then why would you not own Bitcoin in a tax advantaged way. So you can own real Bitcoin and swan IRA, no taxes if you set up a rock because those are post tax dollars and deferred taxes if you set up a traditional IRA. If you're already a swan client, you can get set up with swan IRA in under a minute, not an exaggeration, literally takes under a minute to do it. And if you're not a swan client already, it's still quite easy to get set up. You can DM me, Terrence Steven, if you have questions about moving existing retirement assets into a swan IRA, we are happy to answer those questions. All right, thank you guys for listening to those announcements. What's pivot into the macro discussion? And before that, I should say, Ben, thank you. John. You know, he's not going to pivot Jerome Powell. What a lovely transition right there, Steven. I did want to welcome you up to the stage Steven before we do that. I just want to say thanks again to Ben. Ben, please feel free to stick around. Chime in if you'd like. But yeah, Ben, one of the best resources in the world of Bitcoin. So Ben always appreciate when you come chat with us. Thanks. Thanks for having me on. And anybody curious about cashew, there's up in the nest. There's a link to the tutorial. So feel free to play around. The only last thing I'll say is I'm doing why are we bullish tonight as a spaces because my eye is swollen shut? I don't know what's going on. But I'll be doing that at 6 p.m. Eastern Time. So just wash on Twitter for the spaces for why are we
