Charlie Kirk: Coronavirus stimulus

"And you have Schumer Pelosi. In Biden one hundred twenty five years, Charlie Kirk of failure, unmitigated failure, swap failure and I. Think of my kids. You met my son. He's twenty one years old. My daughter's eighteen and I would think about your America their America and when I say you know, live free or die, American, the world on the brink I'm not joking. And very specifically will be probably the biggest choice election by far in my lifetime, and maybe since eighteen sixty, and there's a lot at stake We can go through the issues if you want, but it's. It's there's there's not one issue we agree on that. I can think of for the most part yet, and you wrote this, and it just really sent chills down my spine. You wrote this book to sound an alarm as a warning. Warning to my fellow patriots about the left's undying commitment turn America into a land, our parents, founders and framers wouldn't recognize it. It's perfectly put, and that's the direction that they're headed on page twenty seven. You have a great part about how Ben Franklin says we ever republic. If you can keep it, can you talk more about how this truly is? A referendum election in some sense and the left is trying to do to our country. Well the the story about Franklin's interesting, because it's, it's the constitutional convention and somebody says he comes out one days, says, is it a monarchy republic republic? If you can keep it Reagan, I quote him off. When I give speeches, said Freedom Charlie and you know this is but one generation away from extinction. And you know when if you want understand if socialism is adopted if their stated goal is adopted America as we know, it then becomes unrecognizable look, I can understand psychologically. There's a component of maybe people that that have been indoctrinated in schools, and you're great at this because you're going in to hostile environments every day, and you're saying you know what there's another way of thinking here, so maybe the idea that people think Charlie that some things are oh, everything's going to be free and they're gonNA forgive my loans at I'll have a guaranteed government job guaranteed government food. How did obamacare workout now? We're GONNA have Medicare for all or or double down on the stupidity of Obamacare and guaranteed retirement. Guaranteed vacation sounds great. But simple math shows you that you'll never get there. And that's why in the Fourth Chapter of the book did this whole history of socialism which is a history of failure? The point is look at the issues. If if we're talking about law and order. They've cited in Portland in Seattle and new. York and Chicago with the radicals. Joe Biden his yet that I know of said one good thing about the ninety nine percent of cops protect and serve and put their lives on the line for us every day. You're right. Okay, so law and order taxes. He's pledging to raise your taxes through the roof. That will destroy the economy Then they're gonNA just add all the bureaucracy. The Donald Trump spent almost four years. Eliminating that'll be gone. That means nobody's GONNA WANNA DO Business. That's why the Biden Obama economy was so bad. Then you look at where now energy independent for the first time in seventy five years with a number, one producer of energy in the world will lose that for sure We'll shut down coal fracking. Oil Gas exploration production those tens of millions of jobs high paying jobs career jobs for people. Then it's about amnesty. Or the United Sanctuary states of America versus Border Security and law and order of never mind foreign policy. We haven't even touched that part yet, so. There's a lot at stake. If those plans stated plans are implemented. America will go down the past you know. The Trash bin of history as Reagan, said Freedom One generation away from extinction we will. It I shudder to think what will happen the three you and your children by kids, and and maybe one day grandkids. ARE READY FOR THAT And I love the framing, because as the founder said either we're GonNa live free and defendant right now, or we're gonNA. Have a country that you know. We don't WanNa live it, and that's really the framing. That is so important right now, and you talk about and I'm really pleased about this. Shawn because I think we have forgotten about the Russia hoax too quickly in. In the conservative movement, you have been the leader on this every night. You were covering it. You didn't let us forget you help. Muller Accountable, you had investigative journalism and it just seemed that an Oxana names, but other conservatives just kind of drifted away from like Oh. That's what happened happened. You have two chapters on this in the book. Can you talk about that? Yeah I mean I call it Charlie, the the biggest corruption abuse of power scandal in history and the Ukraine was oh. Okay, we failed with Muller after three years. We won't. We won't even bother with a special prosecutor not to I'm going backwards here but to get to Ukraine. You? Know they're talking about quid pro quos, but you have to ignore their presidential candidate on video saying you're not getting a billion US tax payer dollars unless you're fire. That prosecutor is named Shokhin. WHO's investigating my son Hunter who went on a and said? Do you have any experience in oil? No Gas, no energy, nope, any experience in Ukraine. Nope, why are you being paid millions? No, because you dad, so there was a quid pro quo and millions of dollars for the Biden I call crime family. That's exactly right, so. Listen and China's even worse. You get to this whole thing what we now know and I believe what's coming. It's like, and this is where the media's corrupt because. They're just the propaganda wing of all things democratic. Socialist. We now know and have all the evidence that we'd ever need is that they protected their favorite candidate. Hillary Clinton. For things you and I and everybody you know that follows you and you have a massive audience would. Literally never get away with. If you had subpoenaed emails Charlie Kirk and you decided to delete them, and you decided to acid. Wash your hard drive with something. I had never heard about bleeped bleach bit and bust up your devices with hammers. You'd go to jail. If you violated the espionage act, you'd go to jail. They protected her. Then the narrative began we now know began in August. We know crossfire hurricane representatives actually went to brief. President Trump General Flynn. Flynn on national security, but they were there to try and get information on trump and Russia, the most amazing part of this, because the Democrats and the media live for all these years is that they knew and they said and they wrote, and they even testified. There was never any evidence, but there was a dirty Russian dossier. And now we know even the New York Times acknowledged full full of Russian disinformation and that was used. And they were warned not to use it, but high ranking people abusing their power, wanting to take out candidate, trump, transition, team, trump, and then deep into the Presidency Donald Trump. They use the dirty Russian misinformation dossier to ruin Carter pages life and roomed his civil liberties and constitutional rights, but more importantly to spy on candidate trump, and then they had their insurance policy. The fact that the mob in the media ignores it is beyond comprehension. I have so I have two chapters. One is on the Russia hoax, and the other is on this whole impeachment witch hunt. And I want everybody in your audience to understand one thing here if I can get one point across. Yeah, they hate Donald Trump, but they hate us more. They think we are as Peter. Struck, said the smell by the way I probably shop at Walmart say money. Why not you have a woman I love Walmart I love COSCO's. I Love I love it all. And I've shopped there my whole life I mean people always stopped me when I'm in a grocery? So, what are you doing here? Shopping? Wa I like to eat a cracks me up. So but think about that. smelly Walmart Shoppers while irredeemable deplorables, wow! Bitter Americans as Obama said that WANNA cling to their God. I'm guilty their Second Amendment Rights Guilty Bibles and religion I'm guilty of that, too. But. It's contempt for your audience. It's contemporary my audience. It's because they knew better. And they will ling. This was an attempted coup. Now do I think there's going to be arrests and prosecutions I? Do spend much slower than any of us would have liked, but the evidence is overwhelming. It's incontrovertible sad actually that this could happen. That was going to be my follow up. Question Sean because when I travel and we get thousands of e mails a on this topic. When are people going to go to jail? And can you give me insight on this? Can you give us any clues any crumbs that we're starting to see from Durham? It's I call them. It's funny. You say crumbs because call them the the Attorney General Bar breadcrumbs. It's like Hansel and Gretel. Remember. We're we're trying to follow and see the trail exactly yeah. He did say that the president was spied on. It did happen illegally. The. Think about this. If you go before Judge Judy I wouldn't WANNA lot because Judge Judy I. I've met her once she'll eviscerate. You I watched her show. You. Don't go before a court. The information that you have not verified. It actually said at the top of a FISO Warren Charlie. It says verified. Okay. We now know the dossier was unverifiable. The sub source we now know, said this this bar talk. We were making this up. This was never meant for anything and again Hillary paid for it funneled money separate issue. And so, what is going to happen I don't have a crystal ball but I. do know all of the facts that are in the public. Are Enough to indict many of the names that your audience is most familiar with. I would argue. Komi McCabe struck page. I'd like to know a clapper. Brennan's role in all of this ends up being and and others. The more fascinating deep question is. Will they get to that January fifth twenty seventeen meeting inside the Oval Office? This is when member Biden said George Stephanopoulos Oh I. Don't know. Anything about this, you know this whole impeachment Russia thing. He was the one same. Bring up the Logan Act fifteen days later Susan Rice in that meeting did the Cya memo the day that Donald Trump was inaugurated. Obama in that meeting shot Sally Age by saying a He. He knew everything about the Kislyak Michael Flynn call. If we look. To sum it up. I think we're GONNA get there because the evidence. Is that overwhelming? If we don't. I fear for the country? Because of you. GonNa Raid Manafort's home predawn raid and you're going to raid Roger Stone's home. For lying to Congress by the all many of the names I mentioned were referred for the same crime and you're gonNA. Pull it twenty nine guys in tactical gear, frogmen and tip off CNN cameras and. Have a biased jury for person. We won't have equal justice and equal application of our laws, and worse than that Charlie is. We lose our constitution. Yes, all our laws are are predicated on next great document and some `perfect, but it creates the path to perfection at a more perfect union so. Long answers. I'M GONNA talk. Show I love it. No, this is what our audience needs to hear, and and thank you for that and look I I completely agree because if we do not have people and I, say this as carefully as I can in handcuffs for what they did Donald Trump then I I will lose faith in the American justice system I. Don't want that and I don't want revenge I don't retribution I want people to be held accountable and I would want the same if someone did this to Barack Obama because it should never happen to a leader ever. Yes. and. They've gone after every single trump friend confidant, and yet if you oppose Donald Trump you get different treatment, talk a lot about the constitution in your book and the founding of our country, Sean going to be honest, I've been very let down by some of these supreme. Court decisions lately Can you comment on that and the importance to get more people like Kavanagh? Who's actually ruled brilliantly? Unlike John Roberts. I! I'm a little. I don't know what's happening. Roberts I have my theory I guess I have my sources people that. have their own ideas based on some knowledge? For whatever reason and I think this goes back to the obamacare decision. He has allowed. How the court appears to influence his decision making. I also sense with no evidence whatsoever. You're not a big fan of president trump, but that should not come into his thinking. Now. If getting rid of bureaucracy and lowering taxes and energy, independence, and securing our borders, and law and order are all part of this election. Let me tell you another big part of it. And it's you know we're taping this ninety. Whatever days away from the Election Day, I what about and we got asked. What about the Supreme Court? Yes, I go through a whole list I. Forget what paid maybe sixty seven I forget. A. In the book. Of. All the things Democrats would do if they're getting power one, is they? WanNa, stack the courts. Get rid of the Electoral College. And I. What, they're saying they. WanNa do is scary. They used to hide it Charlie. When I every single Liberal Democrat running for office, they would run to the left in the primary. They race back to the center, but you knew they wanted the left. There now openly embracing the most radical elements in the country and you know. Unfortunately we're watching it all. Play out nightly on TV and and that sad what I see happening when I think we have to remind a trump supporters that these are not trump appointed justices, a gorsuch I think ruled incorrectly on one ruling. That's it besides that gorsuch and cavenaugh have been tremendous and terrific verses Roberts. I just think we have to give the audience a sense. Sense of continued conviction that the trump appointed justices will continue to rule correctly and Clarence. Thomas and you know the the Thomas Family. They get no credit at all. I mean what he has done. And can you comment on that? 'cause I, E, you've actually been you open my eyes to that like eight years ago and I never learned about Clarence Thomas as a high schooler until you I mentioned it just as a quick aside on his incredible career. I like to do on TV and antidote on radio, too. Sometimes I call it the Hannity history, lesson 'cause I lived through all of this. I know this is going to see. You're not even thirty three, but my radio journey started in nineteen eighty-seven crazy right. Now on my twenty fifth year of Fox, I didn't think I last two. So I feel very blessed. As a side note if you haven't read my grandfather's son. Which is about Clarence Thomas is life. It's amazing. But. You know it's interesting because him and Scalia. To my opinion, my to most favorite justices in my lifetime. Scalia this incredible wit and genius and understanding and. They got a little acerbic side to when when he was questioning Clarence Thomas always set by quietly. What they called a high tech lynching at the time, the more modern. Let it. You gotTA. Remember Yeah. And you know. It was then Senator Ted Kennedy you know Robert Bork's America the borking of America. That was Clarence Thomas. Now we see it more recently cavenaugh. It exposes. The, who is Joe Biden? Who is his team? Because Clarence Thomas and Justice Scalia or the people we need on that court. We call them constitutionalists or originalists, the original intent, not people that would sight foreign law as liberal justices have done or not people that feel that they can rule by judicial Fiat and dictate or legislate from the bench. Democrats always wanted the court to do that which they could never. Do legislatively or win at the ballot box and that's why they want. We call them. Activists Justices Clarence Thomas. has shown a fidelity to the Constitution at the Antony Scalia. That is beyond enviable And the differences styles always interesting, too because Justice Thomas will always be quiet. That's very few questions. Anthony Scalia was in there in a wrestling with people. I don't know about John Roberts. I can't get into it, but I do believe the next president United States is a very good chance. You have a lot of older justices may want to retire. And I think that the next this election in just three short months. That's on the ballot and that's that's generational now. And Sean I think we have to pressure the Biden campaign to do what trump did and release a list of justices I mean president trump was so transparent and Joe Biden hasn't done it yet. Intentionally, of course, because he'll probably put repeated to lieber something on the United States Supreme Court I mean as horrifying as that might be so in two two quick closing question Sean and thank you for being so generous with your time anchorage, everyone you know. Know go by live, free or die. the first is this. Can you just talk about? We are heading into the election. A lot of trump supporters. They're failed. They're falling victim. They suppression pulse I wish that wasn't the case, but it seems like the memory of two thousand sixteen as faded where people forget. We were down by double digits. Can you just give a little vote of confidence to some of our listeners out there? That think we're just losing. I WANNA. Give the vote of confidence, but I want people to feel this way. I want people to think I'll use a football analogy that our mutual friend Linda that you know. Who's your biggest fan? My radio producer? He's amazing. Amazing, but she doesn't even know how many points you get a touchdown, so I'm giving these football analogies. I, want this election. I want people to feel the way I feel which is. We're on our own twenty. Two minutes to go. We have no time outs We're down by six. We got a cross. The plane marched down the field, cross the plane and hit the extra point to win. So if people feel a sense of genuine urgency and worry and concern, I'm cool with that because fear often as a great motivator, not irrational field fear, but if people do not vote, you will get the government that they're telling you. They're going to give you believe. That that is their agenda. To be a Republican and win. You GotTa always use this analogy got to run the table I gotTA. Get Florida Georgia North Carolina can't win without Ohio. No Republican's ever become president without it right? You got hold Iowa then you got pick off Pennsylvania Wisconsin hopefully Michigan maybe MINNEA- Minnesota will be play. Maybe the city of Arizona will be in play. By Joe Biden reference for those of you. That didn't get. We got a hold Arizona Gopher Nevada New Mexico. New Hampshire and Maine's second congressional district. If every single mom, this is a battle cry. You started out this interview with this. I wrote this book not because I like writing books. My last book I donated every Penny I made to charity I don't care. It's not that. This is a tipping point. Charlie this is I, don't. See if these policies are implemented how America recovers. Irreparable harm the to the rule of law to our courts to our economy, they want to wipe out the lifeblood of of the world's economy. This this promise of socialism and I go into such detail about how it's always failed. Here's a quick socialism of example. Member obamacare. Keep your doctor keep your plan. Save on average twenty five hundred dollars a year per family right? Okay. Millions lost their doctors. Millions lost their plans. We're all paying about two hundred percent more and add to that. Forty percent of Americans almost forty percent have only one obamacare Biden Carriage James Choice now. How did they do with that promise? Medicare is going broke. How did they do it? That promised social security. Charlie hate the break this here. He paying into it. You probably won't get it I. Barely Skate through, and they might give me ten cents until they means tested and then take it back, How does it? How did Liberal government work in New York City with all the anarchy cutting a billion dollars, so please? How's IT WORKING IN CHICAGO? All. These liberal cities have where the violence we've been talking about takes place. They all have one thing in common. They've been run by Liberal Democrats for decades right. Most of these states have been run into the ground by Liberal Democrats for decades. If you WANNA know what America will look like if Biden Bolshevik Bernie. Pelosi Schumer and Bozo. That team gets place look at new. York state and city look at Chicago the City Illinois. The State Look at California. Look at Oregon. Look at Portland, the city. Look at Seattle. Look at the state of Washington. Yes. And I. Love this country too much. You know it's an all hands on deck moment and Every everyone of you've got this connection with younger people in this country. You have this incredible. A credible platform you built, and it's become powerful and meaningful and transformative to the country, and you're going out there, and you're fighting on these college campuses and you. You know it's not easy to be in the middle of a I call it a shift. Show all the time, but let's well put, but you do it. And it's freedom works. Every time you give up freedom for security, you lose your freedom because the security that they're offering. These promises that can never ever be fulfilled. In America. The land. I'll close with this unless you want to go further I can keep going the. Barry Farber who was a mentor of mine. Just recently passed away like ninety ninety one. And he always said there's never been a country in the history of mankind that has accumulated more power and abused at less than the United States well I add. A country in the history of mankind that has accumulated more power abused at less, but used it to advanced human condition. The reason America is great and exceptional. If I can say that today, it's not perfect, but it's great. An exceptional is because of its people, and because of the fundamentals of liberty and freedom. So that? Natural rights versus government or rights, natural rights come from God doubt by our Creator. Life Liberty pursuit of happiness while you can't pursue happiness these days in Chicago New York Moreland Seattle. So there's a lot on the line. I love your audience. I'm so thankful for all you're doing, and you've got a great team that you building review and you're out there fighting the fight and I just urge you guys. Just fight like your country depends on it. Because America's, we know it. It's all hanging in the balance. Yet was Sean. You've been so generous the last quick thing I defend the president all the time personally as a person. Can you comment on that because I've had the opportunity to meet him? not as much as you obviously and get to know him, but a lot of people here misrepresentations in lies about who he is as a human being. Let's close on this note. Can you just mention one or two things that that people can take away from that? You know first of all. It's interesting. Nobody seems to understand Donald trump yet. They don't want to understand. I mean Donald Trump. The Dog Bites the beasts, things you feeling sad or get cancer. You Complain Trump. I mean that's how saying the leftist. But here's a guy that is so unique he this guy is like a soon nami force of energy like I've never met my life. The most distinct and unique quality he's had is as president. You mentioned the Supreme Court. He put those people that he said he put. He cut the bureaucracy as he said he'd caught, and he cut the taxes as he said he'd cut. He did the North Dakota. A keystone pipelines Anwar Likey said he would. He's building the wall or almost four hundred miles. A wall by the by election will be over four hundred miles. He found a way it was. It was an uphill climb He said he wanted to pull us out of foreign conflicts, but not back away from evil defeated. The Caliphate took out. Baghdadi and Associates took out Sola Mani took out the Al. Qaeda leader in Yemen. So? What makes him special and unique in terms of presidency is that he is who you see is who you get. The guy that's fights on twitter is the guy that's fighting for a better trade. Deal the guy that fights. Against Liberal Democrats and the media mob is the same guy is fighting to keep his promises that to me makes him the most unique transformative political figure in our lifetime. And Right now. The. We tip the scales. You have a choice. It's never been a bigger choice. He will keep his promises. Coronas been a little bit of a curve ball to the world, but even that ten days after the first case, the only guy that I know of thought about a travel ban will be donald trump. They were teaching at the time and Joe Binder Biden was call them Sinophobic, so he's a man of his word. He's a man that will fight to his last dying breath for this country and the promises he made, and that makes them in my view very transformative. Men will. Trump to send 'surge' of hundreds of federal agents to cities

"Trump's dispatch of federal agents, first to Portland, Oregon and now to other cities has touched off an intense legal and political debate. David Martin has Our Sunday Journal. What are you doing? Use your words. What are you doing? Video of men in camouflage snatching a protester off the streets of Portland, Oregon, set off a pandemic of confusion and outrage. What is going on confusion about who these men are on outrage at President Trump's threat to do the same in other cities? We're looking in Chicago two. We're looking at New York. Look at what's going on all run by Democrats all run by very liberal Democrats. The Democratic mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, said she would welcome federal help to fight crime. No wants no part of what she's seeing on the streets of Portland. We don't need federal troops. We don't need unnamed secret federal agents roaming around the streets of Chicago, the agents important look like soldiers. In fact, they're members of the border patrol far from their usual missions of going after drug smugglers along the Mexican border. They're under the command of acting Director of Homeland Security. Chad Wolf. These officers are not military. They are civilian police officers. These police officers are not stormtroopers. They're not the Gestapo if some have described them, there has been a tremendous a tremendous amount of false information out there. Mark Morgan, head of customs and Border protection. Provided a citizen's guide to the insignia on their uniforms Patrol. Clearly police. It's marked on the front and the back clearly every single agent a CZ. Portland's protests continued in the aftermath of George forwards death. Trump administration moved in to protect federal building from Vandals. These individuals carry lasers, baseball bats. Explosive fireworks, metal pipes, last bottles, accelerants and other weapons, all targeting federal facilities and federal law enforcement. There are plenty of protesters who do not fit that description. Women who call themselves the wall of moms. Naval Academy graduate Christopher David, who stood his ground but did not appear to threaten the federal agents. They kept hitting me and he eventually hit my hand and broke it. I needed to stay as calm as possible. I had no idea what these guys were capable of. Even the mayor doesn't want these federal agents inner city got hit with tear gas provoked the mayor calls it urban warfare. Paul Rosenzweig, who served in the Department of Homeland Security. DHHS under Republican President George Bush calls it unprecedented. Never have I seen it before where the federal government has imposed its will on the state and says We're going to do this mission whether you want us here or not. It's unprecedented. Is it legal? It is probably on the border lines of legal The department was created in the anxious days after 9 11 when another attack was fear terrorists attacks by Al Qaeda or a nuclear weapon or a biological threat. Never did We contemplate that they actually be used against American citizens, and that's where the authority has been stretched beyond all recognition. And here is what most people don't know about D H S. The Department of Homeland Security has more law enforcement resource is at its disposal than the rest of the federal government combined. This is the kind of first time that the American public is seeing that the reality of that Acting DHHS. Chief Wolf, who traveled to Portland to inspect the damage, says it's all about protecting federal property. But in addition to tear Gates, there is Mohr than a whiff of politics in the air. The acting secretary has chosen to essentially declare war on a segment of the American populace. It's transparently a political exercise. Transparently political. What do you mean? This is, I think clearly part and parcel off President Trump's ongoing Ah political effort to demonize the left to try and make this election about Cultural issues and to scare the American public into voting for him. However, the battle of Portland and there is something else at stake. What does it do to the image and reputation of the Department of Homeland Security? This incident is going to do lasting damage to the department. I think that the department is a necessary component of our national security apparatus. But this is going to do nothing but give ammunition to those who think off the department as a rogue. Police force. That ought not to exist.

Trump signals he will send federal agents to major cities

"Federal agents two major U. S cities, including Philadelphia, Oakland and Detroit to clamp down on anti racism, protests and other violence. He makes that threat as the Chicago Tribune and The Associated Press reports. The administration already has plans in the works to send 150 law enforcement agents to Chicago. There's been growing national controversy over the use of federal force in US cities sparked by federal agents patrolling the streets of Portland, Oregon. Trump yesterday told this to reporters are going to do something that I can tell you because we're not going to New York and Chicago Detroit. And Baltimore on all of these Oakland is a mess. You let this happen all run by Liberal Democrats War federal law enforcement. We're

It's not because it's needed to protect those buildings again. The same way he's used ice. He uses ice as an extension of his reelection campaign, not protect people. In fact, the mayor says, they'll take legal action that the president does send in federal law enforcement. Every time we've seen the president do things that are illegal and unconstitutional. 1-year-old killed at New York City cookout shooting

"That happened in Brooklyn, New York, and a one year old boy is shot and killed. And his family as you can imagine, they are incredibly angry. Now. One of the things that I am just apoplectic over is the fact that we have a one year old kid and four year olds and year olds and 12 year olds. And I don't see anybody out there protesting the deaths of these young African American Children. Now you can hear the pain in the father's voice. I'm gonna play this one more time. Then I'm going to play you. Another piece of audio that you have got to hear to believe. But this is this is one of the parents. This is I believe the mother's voice that the boy's mother and she's really upset at what happened with her one year old kid. Put the cowards that did this. You should be ashamed of yourself because everybody talk about black lives. Latte matter. What about baby lives? What about teenager lives? But you took the innocent child from a mother and a father as well as the grand plan is, but I don't think it's fair, right. So AOC liberals, Democrats, you folks that hate the police. Shootings And Killings Surge In Democrat-Run Cities Across the Country — including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta

"Can we first stop the violence? Because the carnage is out of control. You have six kids age between six and 14. Ah, that have been literally They're all dead. In the last five days, and we're seeing in in all of these cities now level of gun violence and murder, surpassing the deadly Toller. You know, at the same time last year and last year was bad. Chicago 87 shooting 17 fatalities from Thursday evening through Sunday night. 13 of those shooting victims under 14 years old. New York Outta control 11 deaths from gun violence from Friday through Sunday. Philadelphia 31 shooting seven deaths from gun violence Atlanta 23 shootings, including the death of an eight year old little girl killed while riding in a car with her mom. And I happened to pass a roadblock and runs into a mob of protesters. Well, I think we're the only show on TV to report actually show you a video. If you remember Steve Harrigan at the time interviewing guys that had their air fifteens in front of that Wendy's and in Atlanta. Now we have a $1,000,000,000 cut from the NYPD defund the police movements all across the country. Same thing in every big city all of the cities. That we're talking about have been run by liberal Democrats for decades, the same with most of the states. It is the same thing. It is a you. This is the results. You know, Now we put handcuffs. We we under Biden and Barack. We put handcuffs on our military. Now we're putting handcuffs on the police literally. And they're retiring in huge numbers. Now they're being defunded. So I guess they're going to get fired or laid off, paid off. Whatever it happens to be. You think Georgia governor rightly declaring a state of emergency down there? The Atlanta mayor's facing criticism over the early handling of the protest site, just like the mayor in Seattle. There's this summer of love zone. In New York. You've got an editorial Mayor de Blasio do something. About the deaths on our streets. 500 plus 1000 people now have left New York City. And it's only that it's only the beginning of what will be a much larger trend out of thes blue states blue cities that have been run into the ground with burdensome bureaucracy, high taxes. Terrific governance. You know, Unbelievable. Of the NYPD commissioner, blaming the shootings on police reforms gone to part you think Chicago pastor react in this weekend to the death of this innocent seven year old girl and and literally saying on Fox and friends that you know this poor girl was killed outside. Of her grandmother's house, playing them in the backyard on the fourth of July. Well, if you want to talk about Pursuit of happiness. If you want to talk about the first have tohave simple, basic, fundamental government working towards safety and security. Of every American citizen. In every state and every city from sea to shining sea. It's not that

"The Supreme Court. Um Incidentally, they did block Congress from getting Trump's tax records that's being sent back to the lower court. There's a Siri's of decisions here. But essentially, the Supreme Court has said that Trump is not immune from a subpoena. Over his financial and tax records to the Manhattan to the Democrat, the liberal Democrat Manhattan, Manhattan district attorney side Vance, who subpoenaed the records. Now you understand the history of this. All of this came from the Democrats. Trying to take the president down. This is all these are all Democrat controlled house. Originated. Actions.

Wisconsin Supreme Court strikes down Wisconsin's stay-at-home order that closed businesses to limit spread of coronavirus

"A piece of audio from a state Supreme Court justice this was from esquire magazine in discussing the governor's order to stay at home the assistant Attorney General Colin Ross appeared to be rethinking his career choice Bradley the Supreme Court justice went full on Glenn Beck never go full on Glenn back this is what the press called full on Glenn back listen to this judge my question for you is where in the constitution to the people of Wisconsin confer a sorority on the singles on elected cabinet secretary to compel almost six million people to stay at home and close their businesses and face imprisonment if they don't comply with no input from the legislature without the consent of the people isn't it the very definition of tyranny for one person to order people to be imprisoned for going to work among other ordinarily lawful activities where does the constitution say that's permissible council one of the bravest guys and the guy who appointed her to the Supreme Court successful governor economic education healthcare reformer Scott Walker joins us now governor how are you Sir Eglin even better today because of the Supreme Court yesterday sure okay so the Supreme Court yesterday in Wisconsin struck down the stay at home order what does that mean well there was no stay so it means technically anyone anywhere in the state of Wisconsin could be opened the one caveat to that is welcome to the home rule states so there are still the ability of local jurisdiction so a handful of communities city Milwaukee city of R. we're seeing a Dane county or state capitals at all very Liberal Democrat areas there governor should be there mayors and or account executives issued similar orders to what the governor's administration will done but for everybody else it means technically any retail establishment or whatever's open last night around the state there are other places out there although and I heard the tail end of year your last segment in the end the governor I've said for weeks the government can get out of the way but ultimately the market will determine when businesses reopen when employees feel safe to come back in when the when customers ultimately come back as well but it the first step is getting the government out of the way so Z. the get the new governor the guy who I think replaced you it had issued the stay at home order he said yesterday last night on CNN this puts our state in the chaos now we have no plan no protections for the people when you have more people in a small space I don't care if it's bars restaurants or the home you're going to be able to spread the virus today thanks to the Republican legislators convinced for Supreme Court justices not to look at the law but look at their political careers I guess it's a bad day for Wisconsin because now it's the wild west commented when it's it's like it's like they've suspended common sense not only in his statement but not others across the country we see this over and over again we've been operating for nearly two months now with the threat of this coronavirus in every time anyone goes in a grocery store every time someone goes into a pharmacy every time someone goes to the hardware store every time someone shows up in a in a manufacturing plant that is deemed essential by the government they've been able to do that overwhelmingly across the country safely so to me it just defies common sense that now certainly since the so called nonessential businesses can open finally because those justices actually upheld the law they did exactly opposite what he said they actually upheld the law now does that mean the people who've been operating safe we're certainly going to go crazy and and not use the same watching the done before of course not you know here here's here's the thing first of all I think you guys had the election when every but when nobody knew what was gonna happen and with that it shows that no there was no spread to from you guys holding L. holding the election which quite honestly at the time I would have found surprising but there was no problem for holding the election yeah I guess the the governor didn't learn his lesson from that one and when did we go from a let's not overwhelm the system let's not overwhelm hospitals and doctors and the nurses let's flatten the curve to nobody's going out until everybody is safe yeah it it's it's the flat occur versus now we have to find a cure before anyone can set foot out there the logic I went back and looked two months ago yesterday I wrote a piece on Facebook about how we need to be rational we needed to follow the guidelines we probably shouldn't have Dick's sporting events or concerts for awhile so we could figure this out but that we could do these things without shutting down the economy we just had to use our common sense we had to be purposeful interactions to make sure we're safe the same is true today over two months we flatten the curve but do you still have government officials whose immediately seem like they're hiding under their beds open a guide somehow this will just go away it's not going away it's not going to change anytime soon and if we don't win this year register Connie devastate but think of all the people across America who missed out on doctor's visits in clinics and other checkups who missed out on early detection I mean this is literally a life threatening issue even when it comes to re opening the economy so governor do you really believe that these people are hiding under their beds or is there something else involved I mean there is we have to balance things and that is what a leader does he gets advice from the FAO cheese and they save Valjean just tell me about the health effects and then somebody else has to advise is didn't tell me just about the economic effects and then I have to make choices as a leader on what we do we are now looking at a group of people in Washington and it seems to be falling on party lines that they for some reason we just don't want to open the economy and no one is talking about the deadly effects of America going down the drain or going into a deep depression not only the affects financially but the effects of health and welfare all over the globe millions could die because we go down it even amazing the group that are not aligned with that don't normally reference but even a United Nations report recently just this week showed that grave concerns about massive I mean we're talking crippling poverty around the world because of the economic effects here in their point was that this will actually have a much larger devastating impact on the Taliban casualties because of malnutrition because of the depression because of suicide because of all sorts of issues I think it's a combination of summer parade and some have an agenda when I look at Nancy Pelosi's and we could talk all day about her ridiculous three trillion dollar bill that's out there but one of the things I think's been ignored about what you did put out this week is they've got a provision that would extend the federal unemployment enhanced benefits till January one that tells me Democrats believe our whole some have an agenda that they want the economy not to open until after the start of the year which conveniently happens to be after the presidential election I I got to say if you're an American not a Republican not a Democrat now to conserve not a liberal but Americans that should scare the crap idea we should be doing something about it so do you think that the American people are I mean I think that my father used to say there is no such thing as bad it doesn't it nothing is bad it's depends on how you react to it that will make it a bad thing in your life for good thing you can go to prison for robbing a bank that's not bad that is something that you could use now to reforge yourself and and become better the corona virus I think has helped a lot of people get perspective on their life it is showing us that we need family and shows us that you know this arguing back and forth with the politics is really the Washington doesn't have the power we have the power we could use this to wake up on the bill of rights etcetera etcetera or we will allow it to destroy us do you think the American people are waking up on both sides of the aisle and saying wait a minute wait a minute these essential bill of rights liberties are really important I I do have some more slowly than others but but I do think they're waking up yesterday's ruling in the Wisconsin Supreme Court was a good step in the right direction because as I said after the ruling came out you know though okay holding the rule of law is important even in an emergency it's an important event and I'm optimistic it as frustrated as I am as as challenging as times are I think about American particular country that started out in defeating the greatest military power at the time who overcame a civil war that would have torn apart just to any other country in the world you ever came to me two world wars took on nine eleven were Americans and were country based on freedom and as long as we cherish those freedoms and liberties even in times like this I have no doubt we can overcome anything the part of that means of free will and the ability to engage in free enterprise that's something that I think it's fundamentally a part of who we are it's what king Solomon talked about finding joy in your labor I often say nobody signed by my high school yearbook saying good luck becoming it depend on the government we all no matter who we can where we come from what we look like we all in our hearts we want to work we want to find join our labor we need to get the government on lease and get it out of the way so that we can go back to work and and restore

Chris Matthews retires from MSNBC after string of recent controversies

"Chris Matthews who has been at MSNBC and before that C. N. B. C. in within the NBC family for well over two decades has hosted hardball since nineteen ninety seven came on the air last night and announced he was done retiring he was the announcement cut thirty one let me start with my headline tonight I'm retiring this is the last hardball on MSNBC and obviously there's a lack of interest in politics you can tell I've loved every minute of my twenty years as host of hardball every morning I read the papers I'm going how to get to work not many people had this privilege I love working with my producers and discussions we have over how to report the news I love having this connects with you the good people who watch learn who you are thank you to you on the sidewalk grid waiting in an airport and say hello you're like me I heard from your kids and grandchildren say my dad loves or my grandmother ledger my husband watched until the end of the conversation MSNBC I decided tonight will be my last hardball so let me tell you why the younger generations out there ready to take the reins we see them in politics and the media in funding for the causes they are proving the workplace we're talking here about better standards that we grew up with fair standards a lot of it has to do with how we talk to each other compliments on a woman's appearance that some men including me one of one sitting correctly thought were okay we're never okay not Dan is certainly not today and for making such comments in the past I'm sorry so there was a piece that came out last week of a woman who said that she was harassed or made uncomfortable by sexist comments in the past from Chris Matthews that probably turned up the heat on this situation keep in mind that Matthews had been forced to apologise for a comparison he made involving Bernie Sanders and Hitler back in the Nevada caucuses when they were covering that and he also had an exchange with Elizabeth Warren that was considered by a lot of their viewers to be sexist so there is this storm brewing get said some things on there that had rankled folks there's clearly stuff going on behind the scenes and it sounds like he was being forced out over some of these allegations how new or fresh the allegations are what specifically they are we don't have that full picture but he's framing at in this segment like he made the decision to retire it kind of sounds like it might have been a coerced retirement by the sounds of it but here's his big fat well income thirty two I'm very proud of the work I've done here long before I went on television I worked for years in politics was a newspaper columnist and author I'm working on another book on continue to write and talk about politics and Cheryl and my producers and crew here in Washington and New York and my M. S. N. B. C. Collings they will continue to produce great journalism in the years ahead and for those of you have gotten in the habit of watching hardball every night I hope you're going to miss because I'm gonna miss you but remember Humphrey Bogart in casa Blanka boys have hardball so let's not say goodbye but so we meet again you know I was wondering where they may be going to shuffle him too a senior contributor or an analyst or something like that sounds like he's out right that's the understanding and look I washed hard ball a little bit when I was younger they're a competitor not even sure what time is on a young five o'clock six o'clock eastern he's on a seven shows up against Martha yeah they've they've bounced around the time a little bit but he's up against Martha I'm usually if I'm watching cable news I'm watching the story his politics don't align with mine I think he's more of an old school Liberal Democrat then one of the new hardcore left wing folks that definitely have a significant voice at that now working within that audience and I have no idea of no extra info behind the scenes aside from some texting as I mentioned back and forth the some NBC folks that I know who seemed very surprised there was some contrition and some allusions two comments that were made I just wonder is that really the whole story it seemed very abrupt so abrupt in fact this was the most bizarre part of it Matthews did his opening segment where does a monologue it's let me start and then at the end of the show he doesn't let me finish monologue he did the let me start open thank you left that was over and they have to fill the rest of the hour they had Steve Kornacki who sort of there are political data winners young guy roughly my age looking absolutely stunned sitting there kind of forced to take over the show at that point and I don't understand how this worked out logistically behind the scenes did he not know what was coming they were gonna give Matthews the final full hour of hard ball it was just all very odd here's Kornacki taking over and seeming a bit bewildered and gut punching cut thirty three that was a lot to take in just now I'm sure and I'm sure you're still absorbing that and and I am too Chris Matthews is a giant he's a legend it's been an honor for me to work with him to sit in here on occasion and I know how much you meant to him and I know my how much he made to you and I think you're gonna miss him and I know I'm going to and then he says well we've got a finish this hour so we're gonna take a break no bells and whistles and we'll be right back I mean it's just sort of I've never seen anything like that and look I am empathetic here to Steve Kornacki I remember when Shep Smith at the very end of his final show said Hey I'm don this is my last show here at fox news it's been real we were watching it on the top of the hour here in this studio that I came on in the very next segment at four oh five eastern it was reacting in real time but I wasn't nearly as close to shop at all as Steve Kornacki is to Chris Matthews I know shop a little bit professionally we hung out once or twice outside of work but that was it it's clear that Kornacki was a little bit shaken and at the end of the hour he did another farewell and tribute to Matthews where he got actually choked up it was obvious that he was emotional about what happened how it went down and it does seem like a kind of dropped out of the blue so a very significant shakeup at

From The Tea Party to The Resistance

"Imagine it's early. Two thousand nine. Barack Obama has just been sworn in as the first african-american president in the history of the United States after momentous election soon resistance arises. The Tea Party comes into being all over the United States. In many places people come out to say they don't like what's going on and they wanted to stop now fast forward another eight years too early. Two Thousand Seventeen President. Donald trump has just been elected and the same thing happens people all over the come out to say they don't like what's going on and they wanted to stop so the tea party and the Democratic Resistance. Are they similar? Are they different? What can we learn by looking at the two of them together? Hi I'm Avi Green. And this is the scholar strategy networks no jargon each week we discussed an American policy problem with one of the nation's top researchers without jargon in this episode. I spoke to Lagos. She is a doctoral student. Sociology at Harvard University and it contributed to the book a- bending American politics which just came out edited by Caroline Turbo and are very unbeatable. And here's our conversation. Thanks so much for coming under jargon. Thanks for having me so we could. You've set the stage by telling us some something about the tea party. No what what did professors got bull. I think. One of your other colleagues Vanessa Williamson. Learn about the tea party. You can give us that background that that would be great. Yes so professor. Scotch and Vanessa Williamson have published a lot of really interesting work on the birth of the Tea Party. And what they've done since they started in two thousand nine so after. President Obama was elected there. Was this backlash and it started off really small and small in the way that it was something people were talking about. They weren't excited for the politics of of Obama they weren't excited particularly for the economic policies. That would come with a stimulus which was referred to as Porculus and so a commentator on Fox News Rick Santelli told supporters and people who are listening. Let's go out let's protest. Let's throw t in the river. Which really translated to? Let's make our own uprising against what we think are really bad. Economic Policies so the tea party was a movement of people acting at the local level and they did this by making friends at protests between Tax Day April two thousand nine to the march on Washington in September of that. Same year organizing their friends reaching out to people on meet up on this before facebook. I really popular we kind of have to remember. This was actually ten years ago now. And the idea truly became something of we are trying to make a movement out of educating people who are interested and saying no to Obama's politics and as educational movement was wasn't is really spectacularly unique because it involved local groups engaging with one another so sharing information where he together to host lectures workshops but also working with national level funders and think tanks and candidates support groups that would be their packs that would be the candidates themselves and then also the RNC and what happened in two thousand nine is Americans for prosperity Civitas. The John Locke Foundation the coke brothers. They all got together whether in public or privately and we're starting to fund these groups not just through grants to do things or signs but their education. We want to support certain economic and voter policies in particular so came down to this idea that we're going to give education opportunities to these local groups e solid partnerships between the John Locke Foundation between Civitas. And this idea of saying let's go on educate people on the constitution. Let's talk about how local politics works and so these groups working in tandem with national organizations and there was a relationship there that started to push the party to the right large part the Republican party largely. Because there's no compromise so the tea party wasn't about finding a middle ground. It was like they took their suitcase. And they marched to the right and they haven't really stopped since and think tanks and these foundations went with them and at this time the Republican Party. Rnc were particularly hollowed out in a sense that there wasn't a lot of national and local support and there wasn't a lot of work between those two factions of the organization. So they kind of just had to go with the. Rnc could say we're a powerful group of tons of people who love the RNC who loved the Republican Party. Being what it currently is and we're GONNA fight for our status quo or are moderation or center right or there's a few people and they were basically quickly stampeded. Moseley by this this kind of insurgency on the right yes so jumps forward eight years to the flip side and before you tell us what. You found out about the resistance. Because I think you've found out a ton of things I love for you to tell me about what it was like to do this research like was this about like looking at big data sets and sitting in front of computers. Or did you get in a bus or a train or a car go someplace and if so where did you go? Yes so the thing that interests me most about the jumping forward as we have to remember that the tea party still exists so jumping forward as almost like getting on a train and we're all going in a direction of the future which is currently now the tea party produced all of this knowledge about how to engage congressmen and senators congresswoman. Anyone WHO's working in local national politics and so when it came time for the two thousand Sixteen Election Liberal Democrats were all just of course Hillary Clinton's going to win and didn't everyone was unbelievably stunned. Stunned sad I haven't seen the word devastated so often on social media and in the news before this moment and so you have. This question of people are wondering who voted for him. What's the direction America's going in? I'm devastated what's happening. And this is happening in local communities in rural areas and cities on college campuses and churches. There's this response that you see your friends on social media and this big idea of what we're looking for an we're trying to understand right like what happens after election of Donald Trump is. We automatically know. There's going to be something similar to the tea party solely because of this massive immediate response on facebook so there was a group. I don't know if anyone was a number. It was a secret group. It was called pantsuit nation. But I I'm just going to tell tell our listeners. I have to admit it I was not a member I was. It was an exciting experience. I think at the height of the group which was the day of the election. There's almost three million members and grew the idea that was you would share your excitement for a female president would wear your pants suit or your child aggressive dress up in a pantsuit to go to vote and once. Hillary Clinton lost this group went from being cheerleaders to being a support group and all of a sudden a member in this group. Teresa shook was like why don't we have a march on Washington and I'm going to jump ahead a little a pants. State Nation Actually took on nonprofit status. It was no longer able to be politically engaged in the same way so groups. This is where this whole local grassroots movement kind of picked up force. I WANNA fly there too. I think that's like a whole interesting story in itself you know. And we've had other researchers talked about the ways in which the land therapy and tax laws distort what people are able to do because activists say like. Oh I want to do war of this work and then the first thing people say. Let's get some grants so we can do it and it was like well. Let's be a five hundred eighty three and then you can't do politics the way that you were doing it before and it's a it's a very strange set of things that are happening. We talk about like it's a natural thing but it's all a manifestation of ways in which our our tax laws in our laws about regulating politics advocacy and. Who GETS TO DO IT? You know play out in real life. It's almost as if we walked into a vacuum where people want it to be able to tell stories of that experience of the support of a woman running for president her loss. And that's what happened with dancing nation but at the same time you had millions of people primarily women who were saying. I want to be more involved. I WANNA do more. How do I do it? And so there's this large push for March on Washington which became women's March which happened and two thousand seventeen and at the same time. So we're still kind of in December. You see something pop up online. It's the indivisible guide so who wrote it in and what is it and how did that play a role so visible guide was written by as relevent Leah Greenburg? Who are at this point in time have experienced as congressional staffers. Dc insiders so they understand what the tea party has been doing for the last eight years. So they post a Google doc and remember tea parties. You've been using meet up basic aged him out where eight years in the future. We've got new technology. The Google doc explodes wasn't side of it is a list of ways to beat. Donald Trump in the future based on what the tea party did. Just kind of completely agitate Obama's efforts for eight years

Ashley Blaker: Goy Friendly

"Talk about some. I'm pretty heavy issues. Israel Iran Patriot of Jews. So our next guest is a pretty big leap for us. Ashley Blaker is Jewish standup comedian. He is the first Orthodox Fox Jewish comedian to be given his own BBC. Show Ashley Blaker. GOYA's guide to Judaism which returned to the air in October. Two Thousand Nineteen. Now he's in New York for his latest off off Broadway. Show Ashley Blaker Goi friendly which premieres at the Soho playhouse. On February third and runs through February twenty third. While his previous off-broadway production strictly unorthodox was tailored for Jewish audiences. This one he says is not just for the Jews. It tells the story of how Ashley's close friendship with Muslim. Comedian Imron on. UCS completely changed his life with antisemitic incidents on the rise around the globe and even here in New York actually hopes to make the audience laugh but also understand stand a little bit more about their Jewish neighbors Ashley. Welcome to our studio. Thank you for having me so I have to ask you right out of the gate. anti-semitism is not funny. So how how do you address that topic with humor. Well the reality is I think he's anything can be funny. So I'll let you come to Louis showing judge whether I make. It isn't about antisemitism. I should say that there is actually a section is a band. Semitism thought. I think the more interesting is the fact that that when antisemitism is on the rise there are two ways of dealing with. This is a way of kind of hunkering down. Just going. We're we're now gonNA stick to ourselves and and try and protect ourselves and put up the security barriers and let's have lots of armed guards on the on the door in social ones bags and all of that stuff all you can kind of outreach. As it were and try and engage with the outside world and that's what my shows about about the latter it's about reaching out to the outside world and in a way this makes wants a comedy show. You know hopefully nonstop funny. Sound sound incredibly dry but Hopefully demystify Judaism a little bit. That's certainly one of the aims. Okay well I would say you could do both right. Do the security see the undercover getting having no security either. All kind of you know very good at that accused but I actually my playbill. I wrote a Performance note and for Bates Him. But I said something about how you know very good dividing ourselves as a as an in one of the things into I enjoy doing you mentioned my show strictly and also those I I love bringing choose together because we figured it kind of separating ourselves in so many different ways you know on the whole joke about the Jewish man who lands on a desert island and he builds two synagogues one ones that he'll go to one that he wouldn't ever be seen dead and that's like what we're like but I do think that there is it is an important time to actually reach out a little bit and we can. I think sometimes certainly not in any way suggesting that we. We are in any way a foot four and symptom of course but I sometimes think that actually being too insular. Isn't that helpful. Listen so now you are from the UK so well the Labor Party. I have to ask you about the Labor Party. I'm afraid But it's often regarded as the political liberal party of choice by many Jews in Great Britain. And I'm curious how you dealt with the last election and whether or not you felt politically homeless as I kept had reading about the Jewish community. There didn't myself but I'm sure other people did and I think that yes certainly in the post for many Jews the Labor faulty will have. I've been there home by just as much as the Conservative Party would be for many Liberal Democrat. We have quite a different political system. Should know to to to the Americans as many but yes I mean. It was incredible. What happened over the last few years and how symtas I'm just rose and seem to not be dealt with toll within the Labor Party in? Yeah it was a terrible thing we still really really been dealt with properly gone away. Yeah I know there were. There were several vile things said many vile things said ed by Labour politicians but then also Jeremy Corbyn himself was talking about the lack of irony that many British Jews seem to have. I don't know if you recall that particular. Yes it was Avia. Yeah it was a video I think from a while ago. Actually but he had yes he had said something. And there's a lot of these kind of allusions I think is because they. They caught clever then. They don't outright. This isn't the foul right then marking the street saying killed the Jews. It's a very allusive. Quite clever thing of of Hinson these particular weight alluding that Jews and Israel inflating the to and to you know the whole talking about antisemitism and anti Zionism also that that things that really came along with the Labor Party and I saw something videos of people saying no no we. We're not intimately to we like the right to choose. I think there's that thing of the good news and the bad news and I think that's a really good. Jews has ones March against Israel and kind of write letters to the Guardian saying that we support Sanctioned bedia smell that kind of thing uh-huh and then the ninety five percent of the badges. I mean that's clearly terrible things so it's been a really dark period and I didn't know it'll be interesting to see in the the next four five years. How things change? Have you tried to address it with humor. There over showed. I just did a toll in opened in in May with my friend Imran you mentioned draymond so imminent. He did a tour together called profit sharing actually breaking news in profit sharing seek clever title. And it's not address head on there are other people addressing this head on and the the truth is the way to look on twitter five minutes especially around the time the election to see that kind of Echo Chamber people. Don't WanNa hear they. You know you you tweet. Something about Labor Jeremy Corbyn and immediately comes back. This prepared list of twenty times. Jeremy Corbyn has both a motion ocean in parliament. That's been helpful to community Blah Blah Blah say. No one listens to each other anymore. People just spout the same thing. So I'm not sure engaging in that kind of way addressing head on is that helpful she because people just don't want to listen right. I'm sure it's the same here with trump and I'm sure there are people who are vehemently say one one thing you don't want to listen to the side. Yes that is. That is a problem that area. So I think that's something we've seen a lot particular around brexit and all these issues as we've had in the UK and the F. But so my show anyway. Mike show look comedy show. That's the the the main PARV. So I'll tell you briefly I mean essence shows. It's about yeah. Tell us about the show but then I also want to hear more about Enron and your friendship so the show about my friend she was Enron said. So that's the kind of I think in film in terms they call that the macguffin. He's kind of you know that you heard that term. I'm not familiar with that. So it's like using the original star wars. I think C. Three Po an onto d two of the macguffin that they're the ones like sent off into onto the desert and enter tattooing. They've got the messages item. Thank you the whole plot revolves from. Then there's no actually about them but it starts from them so in a way money's the macguffin hit because is a true story we're good friends we went untold together. And he's very interested custody my life he didn't know much about Judaism me belly of June. We spent many hours together in the call. He was always drawing because he he's Muslim. Couldn't in claiming been drinking and he's always asked me questions and I kind of wanted to teach him about Judaism. But where do you start. We've got six hundred thirteen commandments. It's too long to the call I didn't want to spend money on guests so I thought well I teach him about the Ten Commandments. And we started looking at the Ten Commandments. And I unrealized. They're not that practical you know he doesn't have an ox next all so there's no need to worry about not coveting it and I so I could. Maybe set myself challenge of coming up with my own ten commandments. That I could be a bit more practical. But they could actually explain what it's like to be an Orthodox Jew in two thousand twenty and in a way. It was my friendship with him. That made me reconsider my Judaism. Because she had I've been living as an Orthodox Jew for the best part of twenty years but it's only when an outside comes along install challenging us at you start having to think about it you start thinking about your love. So that's what the shows about and it's about me going through these ten commandments. My New Ten Commandments. antiquing this to him okay. So do you mind sharing a few of the talk commanded if you're the one of them is thou shalt develop obsessive compulsive disorder okay. She's an integral Paulsville so shoot as But we cover branch of Judy. Check that box right exactly. So we cover a lot of these areas we cover kosher food and living in a Jewish area. We talk about the curse of praying public and this covers a lot of ground really comes a lot of ground in the show and then And then the story I keep finished. The story has a continuation because of how Im- reacted and then what we went off did something together which I don't want to spoil because that's the narrative But it's a pretty funny chairman. I it really is. I'm super proud of it. So you say I did. This show could street Lennox. It was aimed at a Jewish audience. All Jews knock. He's also dogs. Reform Perform Conservative unaffiliated. But Still Jews and I think it's a really. I really wanted to do something. Everyone could cutting joy That would be in a language WIGGs. Everyone can understand but the is serious does not scrimp on the jokes atone. It's the funniest show of ever done this by miles miles because I've already but still called the serious stuff when we do discuss antisemitism and there are some real takeaways well foam it excellent zone. The show's name. Is Ashley. Blaker friendly it's at the Soho playhouse here in New York City from February third to twenty-third. Thank you for joining us. Thank

An Interview with U.S. Representative Elise Stefanik

"We begin the program sitting right across from me here is at least defining the congressman from New York the twenty first district in the empire state she is serving her third term of course you know her from the house intelligence committee and the entire but Manza of impeachment outrage from all sides congressman what a pleasure to have you here in Iowa it is great to be back and they also know me because I was on the guy Benson show and had a great time yes that's many people are saying that's what your best known for your previous appearance on the show now twice so I we are honored let's get going by talking about impeachment and I'm thinking about these four days that were in the midst of right now yesterday was the Super Bowl arguably the biggest cultural event in American sort of shared there's the shared experience of America then today we have the Iowa caucuses tomorrow is the state of the union address from the president and then the next day there will be impeachment votes in the U. S. Senate which will happen during the show will be live as those votes unfold the Senate arguments just wrapped up a few moments ago so we're within five hours of the doors closing here in the caucuses in Iowa the closing arguments in the impeachment trial back in DC now over the U. S. Senate will now go into a period of debate where each senator will have an opportunity to speak for up to ten minutes that will carry through until Wednesday afternoon and we saw the president's advocates making their arguments we saw the house impeachment managers making the case to convict the president and remove him from office having had a front row seat to all of this looking at all of the intelligence having these battles in front of the cameras and behind closed doors sitting here now congressman if you had two minutes let's say on the Senate floor today to make your closing argument on this issue what would you say I would say this is about the constitution this is about the fabric of our Republic Adam Schiff when he took to the will of the U. S. Senate said this was not just about the twenty sixteen election but about the twenty twenty election and I believe that this was Democrats focus on undermining the president and really wanting to impeach him since the day after he was elected I think the president's team did a great job laying out the facts and the key facts for me as I looked at all of the depositions I was in the majority of them I read every single word of testimony that Adam Schiff conducted on the house side is the fact is you crane got legal security assistance nineteen days before the end of the fiscal year and it was more security systems than during the Obama administration and you know people may disagree with the president's policies I happen to agree with his policies but anything that was included on the transcript this does not rise the level of impeachable offenses and that's what this is really about this is about the constitution and it's about making sure the American electorate can make the decision at the polls this November as you said this week everything is jam packed we're getting the first votes cast at the caucus so this needs to be figured out by the American people rather than Adam Schiff who has a flimsy flimsy case for impeachment one of the big arguments that everyone had over the last week involved John Bolten the former national security adviser and his potential testimony evidently there's a book coming out where he's going to more or less it seems close the circle on at least an attempted quid pro quo from the president and the Democrats in the Senate said well we must hear from him this is crucial Republicans said no this is not our job in the Senate to hear from someone that the Democrats didn't even bother to subpoena on the house side before they tossed over the transom the impeachment articles to the U. S. Senate I was very sympathetic to the Republican argument saying it's not the Senate's job to clean up after the house and I agree that the house today shoddy rush job for political reasons but I also believe that Bolton and what he knows is valuable and pertinent so I guess my question is because you're in the house and not in the Senate setting aside the Republican argument in the Senate do you think that John Bolton should have been subpoenaed by Adam Schiff do you think his testimony before your committee would have been valuable had the Democrats bother to pursue it yes certainly I think that the more you hear from witnesses I think that's where you get the facts that was a decision made by Adam Schiff not to subpoena John Bolton and also to withdraw subpoenas of other individuals they did not let that play out in the courts and it's the house's job to do the investigation the Senate functions as a jury with the evidence presented so I do think the president argument was very important because it it it would set a precedent for future impeachment hearings and Adam Schiff did not go according to the Clinton and Nixon impeachment process the other thing I want to comment on guy is it was not surprising to me that there was a bomb shell New York times article at the moment when it was essentially publish we saw during the house depositions that every single day there were strategic leaks and media manipulation from the house Democrats we still don't know what is exactly in the manuscript and I get asked not by you but other reporters will the manuscript says this and I'll say to them no this is third hand reported in The New York Times so I think the senators made the right decision to move on get this behind them and again let the American people decide at the polls this November I saw senator Lamar Alexander on meet the press yesterday and will play some of his audio later in the show and he made the argument which is basically where I am which is this was not a perfect phone call the president did act inappropriately in his estimation in a number of ways but then you have to make the decision okay if there was presidential malfeasance abuse of office impropriety whatever word you want to use does that conduct rise to the level of first impeaching a president and second even more significantly removing him from office as we are now nine months away from a general election and he said no he said the damage to our polity to our politics would be far worse with a few purely partisan impeachment and removal process when the American people would have that choice before us taken away from us just by members of the Congress I wonder what you make of that part of the argument specifically with the election coming up and he said the impeachment articles of the Democrats pass in the house would have barred president trump from holding office again it would have taken all of this one hundred percent out of the hands of voters which I know a lot of Republicans suggest was sort of the point because they're nervous about twenty twenty on the other side well I think senator Alexander he's deeply respected and he takes his job very seriously as United States senator and I respect his decision again you know I think this should be determined by the American people but when it comes to the transcript of the call with Ukraine first of all we don't have a lot of transcripts to judge it against because it's so rare for transcript to be released I think that actually sets a very bad precedent for future conversations between heads of state I think the president made the right decision in releasing the transcripts and what I've said is look this president communicate to nontraditional ways he sounds like himself when you read the transcript but when it comes to this question of whether there was an investigation into the bite and there was no investigation into the bite and that's a key fact and to have concerns about potential corruption this president is required by law to ensure that our taxpayer dollars are going to corrupt entities in the national defense authorization act which I helped write and voted for sure and last point on this what I want to move on to a couple other topics I hear your coming from I agree that it is very important and relevant to note that ultimately the by wide investigation was not an ounce and the eight digit did in fact flow to Kiev but there's been a fair amount of reporting that would suggest the reason that the would be quid pro quo was not finalized didn't actually happen wasn't executed is because they kind of got caught the whistle blower start to percolate some senators were asking questions why is this eight not flowing then they pulled the plug so I'm not sure if that's ultimately in terms of outcomes it is a defense in terms of intent I'm not sure it's totally convincing what do you think of that well I think some of the testimony that was very important is this pause on foreign aid it was not just to Ukraine there other countries where there was a pause making sure that taxpayer dollars weren't going to Russia has a skeptical general absolutely he ran being a skeptic in twenty thirteen sixteen and I even have been critical of disagreed with some of the skepticism although as I hear from constituents in my district people want to make sure that their hard earned tax dollars are going to corrupt entities I think they're going to be significant consequences to how partisan this impeachment was it's been very divisive across the country I was in my district this past weekend and people are paying close attention they are not happy with how Adam Schiff a Nancy Pelosi pursued a partisan impeachment and have not been forthcoming with the American people she said you can't have a partisan impasse processor it's not legitimate and then that's exactly what we got and if they cared so much about hearing from the witnesses she withheld the articles for three weeks they could have pursued the process by subpoenaing John Bolton if they cared that much about the facts this was on an arbitrary time line and they just wanted to get this done before the holidays so congressman my guess is the least defining from New York you were thrust into the limelight with this impeachment process and I followed your career because we kind of know each other a little bit as a thoughtful young up and coming member and that's cool and then bang you're on this committee you are gaining a lot of attention people on the conservative side of things are rallying here because the left is really aiming to dislike you strongly and letting that be known on social media and elsewhere giving a lot of money to your opponent and I know there were certain people gleefully doing jigs because your opponent whose big spending tax and spend liberal Democrat was out there raising significant financial resources to try to defeat you then you release your numbers your quarter for a fundraising was like a genuinely a blockbuster just shocking talk about that the numbers and what what that says to you it says that my constituents in the American people support to my focus on the constitution and the truth and any amount of Hollywood money that flows into my district the American people are going to fight back and my district knows that I work on their behalf every single day it's important for the listeners to note that the money that was raised by my far left opponent was off of the hash tag trashy stuff phonic in I was smeared by people like Rosie o'donnell Chelsea handler George Conway and it was an interesting and sort of jarring personal experience to go through but I really appreciate my constituents completely understand what's happening they will all tell you that Hollywood money is not going to change this district and they know that I consciously focus on delivering results and I am an independent voice if you look at my voting record I always put my district first yes and occasionally we have disagreements about some of your votes because you will not always toe the party line that's right and that's the same with me but occasionally are telling of the party line they diverge from time to time and I think that's a healthy thing last question and it's sort of along similar lines involving your growing profile within the party long before your political celebrity bloomed vis a vis impeachment you had really come out and strongly made the case that the Republican Party has an issue with women voters and female candidates down it's dwindled down to a very small number of female Republicans in the house and you said about this one woman mission to to change that trajectory and

"Eight six six ninety redeye he is cutting, I'm Gary Makmur a play an audio cut from over this week. Okay. Okay. We never there's so many things going on. We never got. We never got to the infighting between the mainstream media and. Liberal democrats? Well, Liberal Democrats with insane, Democrats. Okay. Liberal insane Democrats, with more liberal insane, Democrats. Here's a Chuck Todd unaccustomed Cortez calling ice detention centers concentration camps border and. Oh, excuse me here that we had just a, a brief problem with starting tonight. I'm obsessive what's happening on our southern border. You can call our government's detention of migrants, many things depending on how you see it. It's a stain on our nation, maybe necessary deal with untenable situation, perhaps, but, you know what's you can't call it take a listen. The United States is running concentration camps on our southern border and that is exactly what they are. They're concentration camps. I was obviously near congresswoman Alexandria, Cossio Cortez on Instagram, being criticized Cossio Cortez, tried to make a distinction between concentration camps and Nazi death camps where the industrialized mass slaughter of the holocaust occurred, fair enough, but congresswoman tens of thousands, also, brutalize, tortured starved, and ultimately died in concentration camps, camps, like duck out if you want to criticize the shameful treatment of people at our southern border fine. You'll have plenty of company, but be careful comparing them to Nazi concentration camps because they're not at all comparable in the slightest, but here's where it's upsetting as her comment. Some Democrats have been reluctant to condemn her remarks, and I want to get criticized and Twitter, they'll Lanier congressman Jerry Nadler tweeted in response, one of the lessons from the holocaust is never again. We failed to learn that lesson when we.

"Public airports, which is happening. The San Antonio Texas move is being challenged by the Texas attorney general in Buffalo New York so far that has gone unchallenged one eight six six five zero JIMBO one eight six six five zero five four six two six. This is Jim in Columbia falls, Montana. Yes. Actually, it is go ahead. Ahead of time and venue. I appreciate it. Thank you. I feel this is an interesting illustration and the difference between democracy and populism. I suppose there's a better word for, but you know, that form of government. Democracy, dancer, run on reason. Intellectual solutions to challenges populism tense run on. Emotional pursuit of utopia. That's about all I have at this point. Okay. Very good. I I don't know that that those shortcomings are necessarily restricted to any one ideological viewpoint. You'll find people who are perfectionists utopians in any number of viewpoints. Purely libertarian model to a a purely socialist model, but I agree that there's far too much in this country that that goes to extremes. And I never thought I would find today that I was quoting Barack Obama. But the former president addressed House Democrats the other day and suggested that they keep in mind the cost of what they want. Namely, of course, I'm not saying it per se was obviously talking about the costs associated with the green new deal. So he was in that context, a voice of moderation. As I note again, it says a lot about today's Democratic Party when Barack Obama becomes the voice of moderation. All right, one eight six six five zero JIMBO this is John in Pittsburgh on the Bohannon show. John good evening. Good evening, JIMBO break program. Thank you. I was just thinking, quite frankly, and the response of the jack-booted Liberal Democrats policy that the people who go out to the airport and buffalo San Antonio, not patronize the shops out there. I mean, what they're doing a certainly targeting the Christian views. What's it gonna be next? The kosher restaurant perhaps an Indian restaurant or Muslim restaurant. It will it will never be a Muslim restaurant you can count on that. But go ahead. But absolutely. That's what that's how it began back in the nineteen thirties in Germany, and we have to step on them. We have to we have to stop them right now. This is pure what happened in a Nazi Germany, and we have to stop this. And to get the people aware of this stop patronizing the shot and he used to airports, and that's going to get the merchants upset and possibly go. After these Liberal Democrats are truly nothing more that progressive Nazis. Well, in some cases, unfortunately, your true. I I'm sorry that that you in fact, you're speaking the truth. But in many cases, that that is in fact, I can tell you that if I were flying in or out of the San Antonio or buffalo airports, not something on my agenda in the near future. I would I would definitely do exactly that. I would bring my own food, and I would not pay so much as a penny. A to any of the. The people running shops in there. Keep in mind, again, personal boycotts or or organized group. Boycotts are a traditional and very American tactic. Using tax appointed public institutions crosses a big line in in my book. One eight six six five zero JIMBO one eight six six five zero five four six two six. This is David Dallas. Good evening. David. Good evening, Mr. Bohannon. Thank you for taking my call. Subjects that you come up with this amazing how you tied through segment together. And I'll be quick I just wanted to speak on the. The constitutional segment that you just spoke up the teachers liberal politics educators looked at the west of us like we are creating because we don't bow down to their wake knit. They're great intellectual, and they're white, and we're wall the reason I say that Mr. Bohannon we'll do this when Mike Huckabee calls for Chick-fil-A day several years ago. And if you remember what happened it was national news. There were helicopters in the air. There were a mile. And they kind of left it alone. But like in Denver with the cake cases, they cannot take a loss. Therefore, they have to keep come back in my to their ideology, and how bad they wanna do. This is if you remember the Methodist church about two weeks ago decided to stick with their doctrine and not allow certain gay gay marriage. The Methodist church is going to be split in into in the very short very short order. Yes. Because they did it. And he goes to the ideology, how can you test a church? What what what the bible, and you're protesting kick fillet because of how they think how they treat someone. Is an ideology that your previous caller we have to stop that. I tend to agree with David. But again, I can certainly speak for those people when I say they don't care about what's in the bible. They don't care about what's in the constitution. They don't care about. What's in the law books?.

"Comma, but not Liberal Democrats, mostly pro Israel, and it goes over the numbers about the support for Israel among Republicans versus Democrats, and of course, much higher among Republicans. Although down a little bit from an in both categories. Seventy six percent of Republicans say they sympathize more with Israel. But it was eighty seven percent. Last year. So it's down. But it's also down for Democrats. It's fallen now from forty nine percent. That's sympathize more with Israel now to forty three percent. The lowest level of pro Israel attitude on the part of Democrats since two thousand five the view of independence changed. See anything missing. And they continue. Now, let's talk about Liberal Democrats. Liberal Democrats almost now sympathize as much with the Palestinians as they do with these rallies. Thirty eight percent Palestinians. Forty-one percent Israelis. With the rest, fair favoring neither side or unsure. Down to forty one thirty eight percent. Forty-one percent, supporting Israel. Anything missing. So overall, America still supports Israel, Republican far more so than Democrats. And the sport for Democrats. It's dropped as has the support for publicans. Liberal Democrats are as likely almost as likely to sympathize with Palestinian says they are with the Israelis still notice anything missing. Well, the answer is how often are these poles broken down by race? What do blacks think nobody seems to give a recommendation, thank or what Hispanics, but what do blacks think? But except when it comes to these polls regarding immigration, por qu. It's not like steak here. The answer is when I have seen poles broken down by race. When blacks have asked her about immigration or asked their attitude about Israel. Blacks are far less likely to support Israel. Yet. They're the most loyal. Peg of the democratic stool. Ninety five percent. Generally, speaking Trump's changing that hopefully. Blacks pull the lever for the Democratic Party yet. Black people are far less likely to support as we are far more likely to be anti semitic. The non black gentiles. Kind of strange. Relationship, isn't it? To deny that there's a rise anti semitism in the house. When you have a congress person, Omar who openly supports the boycott sanction movement. The only one there. And she is being defended by two other freshmen congress persons too late and Mukasey Cortes. And you don't think that's a problem? And I've told you cross the pond the labor party used to get the lion's share of the Jewish vote. No moss. One poll shows at the Jewish vote. He's probably down to about twenty percent because of the rise of anti semitism within this left wing party. Here. You have Hakeem Jeffries of New York is not a rise of anti-semitism in the house of representatives. There's a rise of antisemitic behavior and activity and violence in the country. You know, he's probably right there. Probably isn't a rise of antisemitism within the Democratic Party. It's always been there. The Congressional Black caucus hanging out with Farrakhan wouldn't announce them that picture of Obama with Eric? I didn't come out until years after Obama left office until after Obama left office years after the picture was taken because Congressional Black caucus knew that it was toxic even though Obama hadn't even decided to run yet. They thought that Obama was promising didn't want to derail his candidacy. So they knew that the photograph was talking get that yet. They're here. They are taken with him. So Hakim Jeffries. Probably right. Probably isn't a rise. How is it that you have somebody like Sharpton who is very close with all these people who has diamond merchants what's in the middle of the crown heights riots fan the flames. Causing blacks to attack Jews wasn't mutual the way, the New York Times is trying to insist. It was. And Trump and did it again with respect to a tenant. Tenant dispute. The tenant was a Jew, and the sub tenant was a black person. And because the tenant wanted to raise the rent on the sub tenant causing the sub tenant to leave. All of a sudden, it became something that Al Sharpton found himself interested in because it was involved a a black person. Theory is. Friend of the Democratic Party. You have all these Democrats kissing his ring from Cory Booker to Bloomberg. Although Bloomberg's just announced he's probably not going to run. Dicamba harris. To Bernie Sanders all going there and talking to Sharpton, the fact that he referred to Jews diamond merchants and said if you want to get it on your article come over to my house and get it on. It was not talk about that. Meghan said this about relief factor. I've been using relief factor for a little bit over a month. Sit thirty four year old woman that has been in a car accident. I suffered from severe neck pain shooting pain, down my arms and legs would often cause me to lend at one point. I was going to.

"Life easier. I think it's harder for cooling because it looks like it's boot a groundswell of discontent in the parliamentary party back to the surface. Again, that was clearly there, you know, obviously there in two thousand sixteen in the parliamentary party Lasi resigned. Mass. Detroiter force him out. I think he came back over the summer, and it go suppressed again now looks like is back. I think live with Democrats up an interesting question in this is because I think from the point of view of the independent, they somehow need to subsume that the Democrats into them mom-and-pop ability that they get subsumed into the Liberal Democrats or the Liberal Democrats have is a machine I mean, they have an organization, which this group doesn't they have a machine in organizing, but they also have a heavily damaged brand tighten machine. And I think that is certainly a possibility, but the more looks like it's it's got anything to do with the Democrats the harder. It's going to be to pilaf more LeBron peas and some labor voters because the memory tribal memory of the coalition years and the Democrats roll in not is still very much alive in the labor movement and anything happened while we were recording that you'll just have to wait till next week. Find out what we think. So more much more on that next week. It'll be an extra episode if you subscribe lookout for it, it will appear as soon as we can make it available. "Red Eye Radio. I'm Gary McNamara. Eight six six ninety redeye coming up finding the bottom of the hour. What you know, what you think about the state of the union ERC means nothing. Yeah. What I thought about the state of the union address, even though we gave our analysis, and that really means nothing what the vast majority of our listeners right now thought about the state of the union address and posted on on social media yesterday. Really means nothing only one thing really means anything and we talked about this yesterday. What did independence think it is is trying to bring that crowd? That is going to get you reelected in this case, possibly I mean, that's if you're going to get office, you're going to need it get into office or stay in office. You're going to need them. And that's who I am. My question is good. The president be building a stronger base. You know, along the way I think there's a point to be made. I we don't what action again. But could could he I believe he could will. He is the is the question the momentum. Is there if it's done correctly. Well, then it could work what yesterday proved them. We'll have the numbers coming up. The numbers are just unbelievable. What independence thought because that's really the key. Right. Not done. What Liberal Democrats thought or Pete people like us as I said have criticized the president. But tell me my other option is no other option. I would vote for Trump like that. Like I did last time. It's an and so would most of the people listening right now, it's what would the independence to? We'll have that coming up next four.

"Was always moved by that and will always cherish the times. I have spent with him many of them since he became a wheelchair user himself. Those are the voices of lex Fredin an architect of the ADA. And of course of president George H W Bush who signed it into law NPR's Joe Shapiro joins us. Now, Joe is the author of a book titled no pity people with disabilities. Forging a new civil rights movement. He is also reported reporter with NPR's investigative team. Joe thanks for being here. Thank you. Good morning, rich. We heard lex freidan say the ADA sensually wouldn't have happened without president George H W Bush is that is that true. The I think he's I think that's right. I think without President Bush. There would not have been an American disabilities. Act in nineteen ninety this Bill was being drafted largely by liberal members of Liberal Democrats in the house and Senate, and there were businesses that were worried that it was going to be expensive to comply with some of them wanted to kill it. They were giving campaign donations. But while this Bill was being debated in congress, President Bush signaled his support, and what's the White House was on board. Then Republicans in congress supported it and the ADA ended up passing through the house and Senate by very wide margins. Why what made George Herbert Walker Bush such an ally for this legislation? Well, one thing this doesn't recognize party lines. And I mentioned that there was mostly Liberal Democrats writing the wall people like Senator Ted Kennedy and the Kennedy family a champion people with intellectual disabilities. There was Tom Harkin. Who was a Senator from Iowa had a brother who is deaf? Tony quello in the house who had epilepsy Steny Hoyer whose wife had epilepsy. And but they're also Republicans keep Republicans like Bob Dole's had been wounded in World War Two had been shot in limited use of an arm, but George Bush knew disability to he had a favorite uncle a surgeon who contracted polio. George and Barbara Bush debt. Dealt with death of a child young daughter, Robin to Kimia and remember how Barbara Bush when she was at the White House as I weigh the she took on the issue of literacy. Well, there's a personal connection to that. A son Neil had very severe learning disabilities. And he worked very hard to learn to read, but in some ways, George Bush was an unlikely ally how come well. Let's go back to the start of the new Reagan Bush administration nineteen Eighty-one Ronald Reagan gives his new vice president and assignment, and he says cut government regulations and two of the biggest targets are new disability rights laws. One guarantees kids with disabilities for the first time the right to go to school and the second one is kind of a precursor to the ADA. It's walk code section five zero four and it bans discrimination against people with disabilities. But unlike the it just it only applied to places that took government funding. So largely we're talking about state. And local governments that had to make this promise not to discriminate. So I was to protect people with disabilities, and George Bush was the head of this commission that was reviewing them with idea of cutting them back and parents of people disabilities and particularly parents of children with disabilities. They were angry at the thought of losing these new protections. They will they wrote thousands of letters and George Bush met some of these people, and he was impressed by them. He's impressed that they they weren't asking for government money. They wanted laws the help them get an education get jobs to become tax to become taxpayers, and he didn't forget it. So several years later when he becomes president. And congress is writing the he supports it. You mentioned a little bit of this earlier. But can you say more about the kind of opposition he faced in supporting the ball some of that came from his own staff. His staff was divided. He had some people were very strongly supported of the ADA, and that actually had also come out of those meetings from nineteen eighty one, and he has some who were thinking that this was going to be too costly. And and and we thought that it shouldn't pass. So the big question. How did it change things? How did it change life for people with disabilities? Well, it's the law. You her luxury say changed the landscape, so all the promises access to be included in American life to go to public places like restaurants to go to school to get a job to live life like everyone else, and George Bush is a good example because in the last years of his life. He. We saw those images of even a wheelchair knew that to get around. Hit a form of Parkinson's and the ADA gave people gave George Bush access to public places with curb cuts and ramps. He had a favorite movie theater. Lex would go to the movies with them in Houston. And the there an extra ramp built. So that the secret service could get him in and out. But here's the other thing that I think was important about what the did the change wise erased a lot of the stigma of having a disability think about George Bush. This is the guy who had seventy five eighty nine hundred ninety jumps out of an airplane the show is and and.

"Proper already lost their faith is probably an overstatement but i ain't up a hand feller fair i i think that what what's going on with dhaka bessette if he doesn't insist on the wall as a part of the plan on daca a he will lose his bay and that the democrats are liberal republicans are not going to come over to trump in the next election they might be hopping in bed with him now but as soon as you know it is they election comes around he'll be abandoned by the democrat the liberal democrats and the liberal republicans so you need to keep his faith of the conservative republicans and the top democrat in order to be reelected of i'm really concerned gonna lose that if he win if you get uh daca it'll enshrined it especially if he does it without a wall insisting on the wall in exchange yeah i i i i agree that without the border security provisions such as the wall in particular you know i i think that it is going to be a challenge for him to maintain elements of his base there are some like ann coulter who've already been lost or at least seem to have been lost without without him even striking a firm deal well i think it's premature to abandon him at clamming hebron negotiator rare and so he hill my initial position get out and then he'll you're going to work with people later so we all know how the deal is going to come out he loves india a pencil or a partial for him losing his base that it doesn't do this right what are your thoughts about.

"The now we've got an independent counsel muller we got thirteen people or more working with hiring new people all the time most of them liberal democrats for two years for two years they have looked under every rock for two years they've overturned every stone they've done everything they can they have employed the russians they've used the russians they've tried to use the prime minister of australia they've done under the can't find anything to actually in diet donald trump or any body working for it in two years so what are they going to fine in the next two years that no one has found in these two years and the answer is probably nothing but that's not the point they're not looking for anything now if they find it that's as gravy what they're doing now is simply creating or trying to the illusion that trump is a corrupt dis honest meanspirited horrible guy who needs to go but this is where i have a slightly different take on this the two year anniversary of trump in milania speed getting down the usko later at trump tower and where he said he doesn't appreciate military people get captured like mccain and a number of other things for two years the media political complex at older allies have been using the same tactics on him and for two years he survived it and as you survive these things you get stronger and this is where some of you may differ with me and interpretation the donald trump is the president of the united states every day they tried to destroy him every day they try to take him out every day they tried to diminish him but what are they actually doing at a sound bite coming up later in the program a disgust and sound bite from media people charlie rose in jeffrey goldberg contemplate the reality that trump isn't going to quit that he will not be impeached and he's going to be president for four years they actually contemplate that as though on a gun you realize this can happen it's kind of like charlie rose and brokaw discussing the fact that in obama was going to vote for him anyway they just awaken to the reality here that's been two years.
