Liam Neeson doesn't steal much more than your time in 'Honest Thief'

"From each other. What D'you like on TV this weekend? Well, there's actually quite a few movies that I like this weekend. I love these Liam Neeson movies where somebody does him wrong and he goes completely nuts. It's thiss new movie is not taken, but It certainly has taken from taken. It is called honest Thief, where Liam Neeson plays a very accomplished bank robber turns himself into the FBI because he wants to try to get a reduced sentence. Wants to turn in the $9 million that he's got. On, You know, it's kind of turn over a new leaf with this life. He's he's got a new girlfriend and wants to start a new life with her. And when the two cops show up to take him in and get the nine million bucks The two FBI agents decide that they are going to keep the $9 Million A third F B I officers shows up and questions the other to he gets murdered. And they pinned the murder on Liam Neeson. That's where they went wrong right there. Will these bad guys ever learned. You just don't mess with Liam Neeson. Nothing good is going to come from this. He hasn't been in an anger management class. Yet it's not is not has been very profitable for. Yeah. Now there's nothing original. In this movie. It's just exactly what you would expect from a Liam Neeson. Revenge thriller and I had so much fun watching movie sounds like it's not. It's not a good movie. I'm not going to say it's a great movie, but I had fun watching it. It's Dean's list B minus and it is in theaters exclusively. So if you want to see that you have

'Men in Black: International' Struggles to Find Its Place in the Universe

"Out, Ryan. It's been long awaited men in black international. Yeah. Long-awaited is right, dis movies, usually, take a while to get to the feeder. And this is the first one gotten since men in black three in two thousand twelve obviously say continuation of the franchise that started with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones all the way back in nineteen Ninety-seven, of course, this time around, we don't have either of them. I think if you attention you might see their framed photos show up in one scene. But this time the action is centered in the London branch of which is run by Liam Neeson's, high t-, Tessa Thompson is a rookie agent agent age, who is teamed up with kind of a full of himself, slacker agent, m who is played by Chris Hemsworth. They have to basically uncover a mole in the organization y. While at the same time prevent an alien threat from getting their hands on a powerful weapon. So you know it's pretty standard stuff. There aren't particularly any clever plot elements and it kinda plays out exactly as you might expect it to, you know, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson had great chemistry together and four. Ragnarok, they seem to be having fun here. But it doesn't quite compared to that movie still. It's probably one of the few bright, spots, otherwise typical Sifi blockbuster. The supporting cast is great has 'em Thomson. You know, Camille, non Johnny and Rebecca Ferguson. They offer their voices, two two different alien characters kinda steel seems at they're in that a lot of this feels way to millier and kind of not quite inventive enough to sort of justify extending the franchise, so it's not doing very well at all with the critics. It's currently at twenty six percents. I personally think that's a little bit low because I still think it's kind of fun world to be in. So if you feel the same way, it'll probably be decent time killer. But I wouldn't go in there expecting like a huge revitalization of the franchise. Yeah. That's kind of disappointing from my vantage point, I was ten when the first one came out and I love and I still like that movie. But yeah, there were definitely some diminishing returns as the franchise went on. And I was hoping that this would sort of be a reset that there would be something good. Yeah. I mean, I think a lot of people were hoping for that, especially with the involvement. I mean, the two stars Chris Henderson has Thomson everybody thought okay? This is going to be so Ragnar off to in a sense, and it's not quite that. I think the, the director is f Gary gray who's done with me. No heated the most recent fast and furious movies and the Italian job, so you've got some, you know, action under his belt. But for some reason, he just can't quite manage the tone of this one properly, I think, but again, I still think it's kind of a fun movie to watch. So I mean if you're into that world into that universe, I wouldn't necessarily Ryan, would you say it's one of those things we talked about this before where you have. A whole lot of critic saying. You know I just can't give it a thumbs up. It's not terrible, but it ends up being a negative review which against it. It's not like so when you see twenty five or twenty six percent it's everybody's saying this is terrible. Stay away. It's just it's. All right. Yeah. I definitely think that that's the case with this one. I think a lot of people feel extremely lukewarm. I mean, don't get me wrong. There's a fair share of people who saw this and thought it's really bad. Oh, okay. There's definitely a handful of critics thought. Oh, this is the worst in the franchise. But, you know, I think the, the average score is four point five out of ten so that might tell you something. Okay.

"Is back. Liam neeson. Search of sharp it. Liam Neeson's pest at Al Sharpton scare. I don't see that happening. Spike Lee says he's never going to cast him in any set of film. He said, I don't know. I says I haven't spoken to Liam Neeson. But I don't know why he did it. But if he did do it so. It's just a weird world. He says it's a bizarre world we live. And he goes, I know the guys Catholic is this some some form of confession. I just thought maybe that he was being honest, and it wasn't going to turn into what it turned into. I think he felt like by being honest that people would cut them some slack. At least. You're I was about your your feelings of either racism or violence, like I said, I don't know the end of the day. I didn't see it as racist as avenging. You know, a rape of a friend is like I said, it could I think he's later explained it as another you could have been an Irishman. It could have been anybody. You would have gone in and targeted that specific. It was profiling but to him it wasn't racing racially driven right, right? You picked the wrong race. He would have been a lot easier. You'll gun after an Irish guy. Yeah. Because the picked the wrong guy. So anyway, so you'll you'll never have to worry about the leeann Leeson, Spike Lee working together. It's just not gonna ever happen again. Thank God the plate..

‘The Lego Movie 2’ Collapses at the Box Office

"Installment of the LEGO movie debuted in the top spot this weekend, but not by as much as Warner Brothers had hoped the animated movie starring Chris Pratt was estimated to make at least fifty million dollars after its predecessor came in at sixty nine million for its debut. Instead, though, the sequel had one of the weakest openings of the franchise apparently fellow newcomers what men want and cold pursuit following the top three with what men want and second with nineteen million Liam Neeson's cold pursuit in third made ten point eight million bucks. It could be that the recent controversy. Around Neeson's remarks about once seeking race-based revenge is what caused cooled pursuit to be one of the lowest openings of the actor's career. Also could be the fact that it's distinct burger so for two thousand nineteen is only proven that the domestic box office is on a well, it's on a decline. In fact, this year the box office has gone downhill for six weekends straight six row. But there's still hope big releases. You're coming up how to train your dragon the hidden world, and captain marvel still on the horizon. So the top ten movies tops the box this past weekend. Pretend miss Bela to two point seven million number nine Spiderman into the spider verse three million dollars equiment still raking it in three point three million coming in at number eight green book, which is getting all kinds of great reviews came in at number seven to three point seven million the prodigy came into number six sixty six million glass at six point four million dollars. And then rounding out the top four the upside at seven point two million. That's been a bit of a surprise number three cold pursue. Only ten point eight million. What men want nineteen million bucks to come in at number two in the LEGO movie number the second LEGO movie, the second part really didn't live up to expectations did thirty four point four million dollars at the box office.

"Have Whiteface or maybe red face if you're drunk. People complained about everything I'm just telling you. We have also controversy Brown. You've probably been hearing this about Liam Neeson. Said he wanted to hunt down a black guy and kill him because of a rape of a black guy rapes a friend of his and that he just felt such rage. Well, now social media users are demanding that Liam Niessen be digitally deleted from the men in black film. That's coming up. I didn't know he was doing a minute black film. But there he is with it looks like, oh, what's that? But one of the girls is black. I don't know who she is. I know this guy. He's is is is this four who's in this thing. Liam Neeson sixty six seven interview with independent. He had fantasized about killing a random black person. After someone close to him was raped by who she could claim to be a black, man. I went up and down areas with a cosh. What's a cash minority? Cautious CO S H. Hoping I'd be approached by somebody I'm ashamed to say that and I did it for maybe a week hoping some black bastard would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know. So that I could kill him. It was horrible horrible. When I think back that I did that it's awful. But I did learn a lesson from it. Well, the lesson is Liam don't tell anybody. That's the lesson. They should learn from it. Well after the remark stirred controversy Niessen defended himself on ABC's. Good Morning America insisting he was not a racist. We all pretend we're all politically correct in this country in mind too. He says you're sometimes just scratched the surface, and he discovered this racism and bigotry, and it's there. However, he is explanation proved insufficient for some social media users who've since called on viewers to boycott his films and demand that he be digitally scrubbed from the men in black international movie. I wasn't even aware that was going to be one. And why is there one? Why do we? The first one was mildly amusing, but I wouldn't go back to that. Well, and by the way at that's like stick used as a weapon. Thank you. Oh my gosh. Okay. Gosh, if you're in the UK to. Gosh. A very good looking kosh. Strange about him too. If you remember when his wife passed away when she died on the ski slope didn't seem all that. And I hate to say this. But it just didn't seem that torn up about it, really. No. I mean, it just didn't seem to be a lot of morning or trouble. There may have been unclear whether any major action will be taken against Niessen following his comments. However, the New York premiere of his latest film cold pursuit was abruptly cancelled on Tuesday while it's scheduled appearance on Friday's edition of late show with Stephen Colbert has also been called off. So apparently something's going on. Now, Phil you defending him for this. I think he's being honest about an honest reaction to somebody, and I don't know how long ago this was when he had a friend of his who was raped. He said it was forty years ago. Yeah. His interview forty years ago. Okay. So he's what is point is is that he he's changed over the years, and he doesn't react like that. But forty years ago, he wanted to kill a black man because a black man had raped, his friend. And so he's trying to make a point here that you can learn and grow and mature in. But you can't do that. You can. Oh, no. No, no. So if we gotta go by forty years good grief, folks. Go back forty years in my life. You don't even have to go like forty years, but just go back, you'll find all sorts of things you can find objectionable, and I would say that if you do and you find them objectionable, and you say, well, I don't like that Phil Valentine don't listen to his show. But what is this? Since when did we get to a point? And I'm telling you, it's primarily coming from the left that we can't just not patronize somebody we have to destroy them. We have to put them out of business. We have to make sure they resign. We have to make sure they're not an office. We got people all over the country that are insisting this governor of Virginia resigned. What business is it of yours unless you're in Virginia? I just want to destroy them. Scorched earth policy, they want to absolutely destroy people. And that's what they're doing every time. They get a chance and they take such glee in it. So they find somebody that they don't agree with they go back in their past. They find something that he said or did there was objectionable forty years ago. And then they wanted to destroy them for it. And then it's like. They get a notch on the bedpost or something for it. I don't know what the deal is some glee that that's some sick satisfaction. You get from from destroying somebody's life. And I don't I don't understand that, you know, because I'm one of those people that just wants people leave me alone. And some people aren't like that means some people like the. They like to mix it up with folks. And I just go, you know, just leave me alone. How about that? Oh, I can't do that. You've said something I don't like, Phil. So I have to destroy your life. Well, good luck to you. Good luck to you. I'm just saying if you don't like the show don't like the shell. That's your business. You don't have to try to get me taken off. The course you can try and people have and they've not been successful. Because of this show. I have family members that won't allow me to even basically come in the house. It's just crazy. It's stupid. It's heartbreaking in stupid. Oh, I know it, but it's the it's stupid on their part. So. I was thinking about this because people keep saying Trump's so divisive Trump's not the divisive one. These folks hate Trump. Well, what about all those tweets? He's responding to them. They're the ones who come out and attack him. With their claws out, and I will agree. Sometimes it's overkill the way he responds to him. But he's not the divisive one. All he said was I want to make America great again. And all of a sudden, he's the divisive guy. Everybody's trying to take him down. And that's all of a sudden, racists, like Klansman's robe or something? Oh my God. Thank God north and wasn't wearing a make-america-great-again hat. He would already be gone. I mean, good grief leave the country have to leave the country could the business. You know, I'm thinking about getting one of these Hanson is wearing it around. I mean, just begging me to because I mean, people go nuts. I just love to see maybe I need to take a camera crew. And just have them follow me around when I'm just walking around the, you know, the Vanderbilt area with a make America great hat on. And just see what you know. What people say did you see this black guy? He posts have been. Now, we didn't I didn't read tweet because it's the F word about every other word. But he's sitting there was some folks, I think. Now, I don't want to say this stablishment. But it's at one of these, you know, bars where you can watch sports bar stuck thing. And. I thought he reoriented a little bit. I think the waitress asked him why he was wearing the hat, and he said because he's why are you asking me there? And then she said I was just curious and then he went off, and so he videotaped and went around confronting her. She didn't want to be on video. She's done them to cut the camera off these going around and talking to his whole table was a table full of black folks who were Trump supporters, and then they went and got the manager. And it got really involved. I didn't watch the inevitably out turned out. I can imagine. But but he's right on the point that you go into different establishments with his hand on and people will they'll be confrontational. You remember the Malcolm X hat was all the range. Malcolm X was a racist. Who hated white folks did I ever confront some like, why are you wearing that? Well, how do you wear that? My presence, Malcolm X was a was a racist. Well, I mean, they have a right to wear Malcolm X had they want to if they want to support Malcolm X, or whatever. It's it's their right? I don't I've I've never thought about going up to somebody because they're wearing a T shirt or a hat or something and getting into a confrontation where does this come from? And I hadn't seen this before Trump came along. But now people think they got a license to go in harass folks because they're wearing a make America. Great again. Add some believable. I gotta give me one you sound like my father-in-law. He does the same the thing with when when they were really raising heck about the confederate flag. He went nuts. Fact, he even I don't even own one new get one in the maga- hat. Well, he. He went so crazy. I mean, he sat down all kinds of confederate flag stuff to us to everybody. He knew he said just just, you know, put it out there, which we didn't. Yeah. But but get a spirit he wants to be defined these people can't shut you down. This is America by gosh. But I mean, they think they can and and they do on many occasions. I'm telling you right now. I mean, I would be very I had a Doug ahead. Back in the day that I wore every once in a while somebody gave me a w hat and I warn I never got anybody. Nobody said anything to didn't think anything of it. But you know, my go-to hat, and it's not because it was my movies because the hands just so great, my kids have them they were Iran and inconsistent truth, and occasionally, I'll get somebody, and they'll they'll engage, you know, either they know what it is. They don't know ask. And you know, I had somebody say. You don't believe in global warming. And I said, no, I said have you seen the movie he said, I wouldn't watch that movie for anything? He said whoever made it's an idiot. I said, well, he may be but you need to see the movie. Whoever made the movies in idiot. Yeah. How much is it for this meal for this idiot to pay? By the way, I know tip. Tip quick time out. We'll be back six one five seven three seven nine nine eight six seven three seven w w t and.

"Thought it would be average at best. And it was really really funny. It's really the second one. I think is, you know, the the surprise isn't there because I went in thinking, I hope this is going to be as clever as the first one, I think it is pretty much as clever as the first one really creative. Really catchy. Really funny, irreverent salt. So this one so yeah, I really liked it a lot. All right. So a high a high Mark for LEGO to the next to what? The Toronto GP Hinson movie that everyone is there. They're they're appearing everywhere. The stars everywhere. Terrell GP Hinson, Tracy Morgan. This is a gender reversal from the old. Mel Gibson movie. What women want this was called what men want where Twas us character gets the head and the ability to hear what men are really thinking of the inner thoughts of man, I know many of you listening today. Often wonder what's Bill Wendy's? Hearing wouldn't Bill is thinking. The question is are men thinking anything not what are they thinking? Are. They thought true. That's very true. What what's going on in my head? Remember that noise that was its nuclear Snoopy or Woodstock. I can't remember the peanuts cartoon just like weird, which was free. That's usually what's going on in my head. What does this movie? It's actually there's kind of a serious subplot to this. Oh, gender discrimination. Terachi's character is a sports agent all male world and can't get a promotion. Can't get a break because she's a woman and this ability to hear men's thoughts. Around all that. It's funny, Tracy Morgan. It's funny as always I like this one too. It's just like a nice nice breath of fresh air movies right now. Then I gave it a d be the one that. I think it's going to be a little difficult for people to go watch. Although I hope people do go see it because it's really great is this Lisa movie, cold pursuit. Which it's about a father whose son gets murdered and goes on a revenge terror. Trying to avenge his sons burder, it's not at all. Like the tape in movies that Liam Neeson has done. This one is much more. Like, a cone brothers movie almost Quinton Tarantino will be it's funny. It's exceedingly violent mostly it's it's just a plenty dark. Very violent comedy old. That said with the confession that Liam Neeson made this week or forty years ago admitting to seeking out a black person to get even with to kill as he said because a friend of his was raped by a black person is taking a lot of heat on that for the last couple of days, you can decide whatever you think about that. But it's more than ironic that he's got a revenge movie out about a murder in this real life story about something. He did forty years ago has come out. So I like the movie quite a bit. And I gave it a b plus all right? Let me ask you. A quick question. And again when you have to go to catch your plane, just give us a minute or two warning. And we'll let you go. But if you're the company that puts this movie out, I think, it's Lionsgate. That's the producers on this movie. This has to be an absolute nightmare for you. Right. Absolutely. They're getting they were getting such great reviews. Universally people really liked this movie. It was plugging along it at all the potential Liam Neeson's. In twist on these kinds of movies that we know him for the taken franchise. It's really different from from those movies plugging along looked like it was going to be a big hit this week. Cancel the red carpet premiere decent. What's supposed to make appearances? Places and and. Wasn't able to because of all the controversy. So yes, absolutely a PR nightmare. And I'm just so curious to see if people are gonna wind up going to see this movie or not, or if this whole thing, which you know. What a nightmare. What a what a horrible thing to. Happen in your life. But part of me gives him a lot of credit for be honest and. Say saying what he did. And how regretful it was. And how he saw hope for it. He was he was being nothing, but honest, so a lot of people are gonna bad feelings towards him about this or not I have no idea. What's going to happen? He was scheduled to be on Stephen Colbert show either tomorrow night or Monday night. I can't remember which and he himself cancelled the appearance he said the timing on. It isn't good. I wonder what the next few days weeks, months and years will be like for him. If this career, you know. Right, right. I live. We've never had anything like this. He could've taken this this horrible secret to his grave and nuts at anything. He chose to be honest about it. So we've we've just never seen anything like this ever come out before. So who knows what's going to happen? Yeah. All right on to something much much, happier. You shared some good news with the WGN audience the other day on Steve Cochran show, Wendy, and I both are elated new footage or restored footage from bozo. Sucks. Bozo. Seventeen. We've got another proposal special tonight new footage because as you know, the the incident whispered low, you know, WGN executives in the past they chose not to keep any of the old bozo or keep very little ugly old bozo footage, but what we've done is taken that we have we've had a digitally restored. We're gonna air air this in a special call Bozo's circus, the nineteen sixties on February seventeen and it's gonna be super cool to see all of his own additive. Exactly the way ran out there and crystal clear, beautiful restored footage. So we're super excited about that. And super excited that this coming Sunday, we're going to be airing as a WGN family classic. It's a mad mad mad mad world in its original form, I have three and a half hour movie that when it ran into intermission. If they presented it like, a play theater owners ruling crazy because you don't they? You could only show it a certain number of turns because the movie was long hair. But it's it's we we we actually edited only one word out of the movie disappointed which Peter Falk who plays a cab driver refers to somebody as retard. And we we just didn't think that that was inappropriate. It didn't really change the context of you know, the movie in any way, but just hold a little bit offensive. So that's the only thing that we edited out otherwise it's running its original form everybody who. Virtually everybody was a star at that time is in this movie. So in addition to the movies, very interesting things that were sprinkling and sometimes died, right? Like Kovacs was supposed to. Yeah. Right. Dan. That's going to be Sunday at one o'clock. Are you surprised in a world where remakes are the norm that this movie there was never any attempt to remake the movie ever? Are you surprised? No, I think I guess not just because it's you know, it would be like remaking gone with the wind classics in their own way. But there's no way that you can get the number of stars in the movie like like, they did then I don't think that could ever happen again today. Yeah. If they did it it would pale in comparison. "The hour the half. And when it breaks, I'm Sabrina Cupet news ninety five five and AM seven fifty WSB. Depend on it. I don't know if you saw this President Trump at the national butterfly center filing restraining order to stop you border wall construction on their property. Wow. What's wrong butterflies? Got the butterfly lobby against. Before we get down because we're talking about the baseball rule that I agree with you guys disagree with. But I'm gonna go back again to just to the black face thing in Virginia. One more time. Okay. Started kind of few instance, couple of months ago. Well, the whole black face, you got the governor. And then the second in line have black faces us from when they were younger, and then the guy in the middle of sexual assault thing. So starting with the Megan Kelly deal, which by the way was all BS. I told you in Megan Kelly got the job and NBC that was gonna fail was one of the things I was certain of that she was not ready for that kind of prime time, and it was going to fail, and they didn't know what to do. Knock her out the door. So they use the excuse of that black face comments you made. But that started a lot of this. Now, here's the thing. And and as I said about Liam Neeson yesterday, the selectivity of all this, by the way, I'm on my tease talked about Liam Neeson's. So I should fill that out a little bit Liam Niessen. Because now he's he's supposed to be on Stephen Colbert tonight or something, and he he cancelled and he needs to just shut up and just go on vacation. This is the problem with Liam Neeson is he didn't understand the world that he's dealing with. And sometimes look whether we can't no one can admit this now, but every single one of us have horrible thoughts. They don't have to be racist. I don't personally I've never been a person who has racist thoughts. It's just never been anything the case. I just think of people who they are everybody gets a chance to let me down. That's the way. I look at it. Once you let me down. Then I know who you are. I can move on. That's never been in my in my mental makeup. But we've all had horrific thoughts and outside of your psychiatrist's couch. The best thing to do is to keep it to yourself. Discretion. I can only imagine when Liam Neeson ahead and read the original thing. But my assumption is that somebody asked him how does he connect with these roles of revenge that character? And so as actors, do they often will take something real life, an emotion, and they can tap into it because they did it once and he made the mistake of saying this thing about the rape of his friend and going out and looking for somebody who was black that was him not under. He what he doesn't seem to understand is. You're not dealing with the logical world anymore. You're not dealing with a rational world anymore. You're not dealing with critical thinkers anymore. He's gonna lose this. He kept going on good Morning, America. I'll just tell you. His whole his whole if he was asked how do you tap into this irrational character, the critical thinkers will say this guy is talking to be about an irrational thought he had. But the fact that he's just saying it was thought he had in this world where critical thinking is done. It's gone decimated. He has he should just stop right now. Whatever happens with this new movie happens with his new movie, and he just needs to get off the stage for three or four or five months and see what happens he continues to try to speak rationally. And he might as well, be speaking a foreign language to a bear. There is no. Who? He just needs to maybe he's doing that disconnecting. He made a big mistake. That's why I'm here. You're here. I like radio we don't I'll tell you what come back in a few months. I have a particular set of prejudice. It's it's not it's not so much him. He's he's trying to speak rationally to an irrational world. And it's it's it's absolutely not gonna work and it's selective. Because like I said before Mark Wahlberg beat the hell out of a guy just because he was Asian and went to jail for it when he was a teenager, and Mark Wahlberg is. Okay. It's selective. Mark Wahlberg is okay. He beat a guy to a pulp that's a that's an action we've canceled Liam Niessen because of words and a thought, and that's a rational. But you can't beat that. You can't you can't try to sit down and talk to a rational people. So he just needs to kind of go away on that same thing with all this black face stuff. This is selective as well. Now, these Virginia governor's their politicians and everything, but you know, in the world of metoo hitting celebrities and celebrities now and Megan Kelly who was on TV. But this is selective Meghan Kelly gets hit for these. Eighteen politicians. No. Their careers hits. Gotcha yet. There are plenty of people not just in old history in entertainment who did black face. But in more recent history. Jimmy kimmel. Sarah, Sarah Silverman. Billy crystal used to a character on Saturday Night Live. I think it was like I think it was like an old member of the the negro league or something in baseball or something. I can't remember the he and Christopher guest's used to do that Jimmy Fallon when he was on Saturday Night Live appeared in black face. So it's selective is an all or nothing. Does this apply to everybody? Now. Go back. To the thirties and forties, beloved figures. Fred Astaire, one of his one of his most famous. Dances in a movie. He's in black face Bing Crosby in black face a movie called Holiday Inn. And I think another movie as well that I saw you gotta get a they don't cut the stuff out. They show the movies. So highly uncomfortable via friends over I forgot about this part. Just hang on. He's gonna do, you know a Christmas off very soon. White christmas. Oh, no. Aw that he does. He's in the same movie holiday at big Crosby is in black face and sings white Christmas twice. So why is it that is it everybody gets cancelled? Or is it just the latest defender or is it because Jimmy Kimmel's doing the work of the Lord in the hashtag hashtag resistance. So he can be left alone. Whereas somebody, and we all know where Sarah silverman's, political heart is. So it's all very selective. Now that the new baseball rules. This has nothing to do with black face. I think this is a good idea. The idea is one of the rules. How many are they playing around with? But one of them caught my eye that I think he's a pretty good by having a universal designated hitter. The minimum for what does that mean? Universal designated hitters, it'd be identified designated hitter in the National League, right, right? Yeah. Because in the American League you have it naturally the pitchers still bat. Okay. So, but so basically, a universal means the whole league one guy has to go around be the designated hitter. All the time. Mike trout. Now, let me ask you about that. Because people are very provincial. When it comes to their leagues. Do you wanna see that kind of change? It would you rather? I know a lot of people don't even think the American League is really baseball. They think only National League is. I think it should be an easy league. Okay. I'm mixed about it. Because I think the designated hitter does make the game more offense. And it does make it interesting. And that's and that's why that's why I like this other idea and one of the ideas is that every time you put in a new pitcher they have to pitch to at least three batters. Would if you put him in at the bottom of the ninth you're going to hit the NAFTA. We're not gonna add people, of course. I think they would end the game. When it's but I'm saying, okay. Bottom of the seventh. You're winning by two runs. You're gonna put your setup, man. And and you're you're you're adding on your middle reliever is getting a little weary. So you have one batteries a lefty and you bring in a lefty to face him. Yeah. That's trying to get rid of. All right. So then you come back, and it's the bottom of the eighth. Why does that pitcher have to stay in? You can have a fresh new pitcher come in. They wanna do is. They wanna make the game go faster and the situation you're talking about is not really what they're trying to address with. They're trying to address is. Oh, there's a lefty coming up. Let's bring in this this one this pitcher for this one batter. And if you're if you're a casual fan you had to sit through one pitcher who warms up, and then he pitches to one guy, and then they pull him. You gotta watch another pistol. She'll see great eighth inning. Where the you'll see the home team bring out to three different pitchers lefty righty lefty because the lineup had those batteries. But think about the strategy though. Now, maybe I don't bring out that person. Now, maybe I gotta go. You know, what you gotta deal with this lefty because I don't because the guy that I'm going to bring out I know is going to get shelled by the next batter. So don't you think it adds a little bit of more strategy for the manager to think about it just gives an advantage the batting team? That's all I see. They have to deal with it to the you're not always banning. I mean, if it's the guy's a switch hitter. Then there's really no point trying to get. Well, there's other ways you here's the bottom wanted to four Batterman autumn is the expert here. Yeah. Yeah. I don't see anything wrong with that show. It increases the the likelihood people be staying interested in the game. It would shorten the game. It might even length. Who knows? She told me anything to get more touchdowns in baseball seats in faith. That is something that someone who doesn't know about sports would say, absolutely. So I think that here's the thing that people understand about baseball. They still call it the national pastime, we all know NFL has eclipsed it by far. This is my theory about baseball and the how it became the national pastime in the early nineteen hundreds. There was no air conditioning anywhere hotter than hell in the middle of the summer, and like factories and things like that. I mean, you just couldn't work so people would work morning shifts get out of there by noon, and you could either slow down production or close altogether because all your competitors are as well. It's just too damn hot to be laboring in a sweat factory. So you have a reduced shift. A lot of people work in the morning when it's not as hot. And then hey, you know, what there's no air conditioning at home either. Nice to go out to the park and there's this game being played. And while you're at the park, not sweltering and you fall in love with the game, and that becomes the national pastime. So I'll tell you what killed baseball air conditioning is what killed baseball because people would stay in. And now it's kind of. TV game for most people, and it seems too long. It seems to long I'm not a huge baseball fan. But I do like the beauty of a pitcher's duel. I like a game go quicker pitcher stool. Yes. Absolutely. A pitcher's duel. Like every other I liked the strategy that goes on but to many games or too long. You got baseball has to deal with and this was going on in the NFL. I'm not a big fan of fifty two to forty eight. I guarantee you Goodell hated that Super Bowl. He wanted a fifty two he thought it was we get a fifty to forty eight game. But those two teams, and that's what they're trying to sell because everyone in this country has ADD baseball is not just competing with basketball and football like the old days, it's competing with Madden and fortnight and every other million Mary ad thing. That's going on. And you got to bring that in on a nightly basis at two two hours, forty five minutes no longer, and that's what they're doing..

"Back with the Tom shillue show. Michael Somerville is here. Jamie. La Bella is here. I guess the point I was trying to make to wrap up the the issue of. Both both the issue of people with their photos from the past and Liam Niessen is that the idea. If everyone is the people on the left because they're the ones who are eating their own people on the left are demanding scalps from these people and saying, oh, we have to erase Liam Neeson from this movie because he admitted one time to having a pure thought. And then these guys who have old photos in there have to be have to step down. We're constantly told that we live in a society that's racist. That there's you know, maybe half the country at any given time is racist. So why is anyone surprised I thought I mean if half the country's racist? And why is it? So surprising that Liam Neeson. Once had a a bigoted thought, it's not surprising. I don't know they seem very confused by it. Also the. In the course of you know, talking about this. It is it's surprising that we used to be we used to be people that encouraged forgiveness that seems to be off the table, Jamie. Oh, absolutely not there's no forgiveness. It's just a headline like at this point. It's just the media striking a headline. That's what they're doing. And they're skewing the headline at that at best. So no, it's not surprising. If anything it's just hot another humdrum day in the news cycle where a celebrity had an improper an improper thought the thing is is coming from leftist Hollywood to. That's the irony of it. All that is what that is. What you hit the nail on the head. Jamie is always I wanted to get this. "Something that no one could have possibly seen coming and maybe doing the worst interview in the history of while promoting middle aged guy kicks. S action movie Liam Neeson at a press junket told the story. About his once upon a time revenge. She wanted to commit on a black man because a friend of his got raped. Man by a black, man. And so he wanted to get revenge and a black band, and he actually says this as he's promoting the movie, and this is he's been doing ten years of revenge movies. Yeah. Okay. And we were like, oh, we didn't even want to cover it because it was just like apple where everyone like you spit out your coffee. You're like what Liam Neeson's said what exactly know did he just admit to racist wanting to hurt or murder someone based on their skin color? I mean, it was like we were like, whoa. And he did. And so this morning. GMA is promoting Liam Neeson's going to be in studio Robin Roberts and now I'm shocked. I'm like, wow. Maybe he's gonna. Apologize for what he said yesterday or come up with some kind of a thing that would make people be able to take back this big coffee. The thought of oh my God love actually forever. Right. Right. And and the full context of when he's telling that story is he's talking about this revenge movie. Now, like, I said he's been doing these movies for ten years probably eighth movie. Yeah. And ten years. And so he he gets on humane Robin Roberts asked him. And he said, well, I'm not racist that happened forty years ago, and then he proceeded to tell Robin. I'll tell you the same thing. I told the lady journalists from the independent, the lady journalist, okay? Oh. The lady journalist, and then he proceeds to tell the exact same story. And that for a week he walked around with a baseball bat looking for just any black man that he could take a swing at. Does. He say that. Yes. Oh, and then he then then he said. You know? I mean, he he he said, well, you know, but that was forty years ago when they went to a priest and I talked to him, and it's just like he, Robin. I really give her a lot of props for not to Saint Nola. I'm you're not getting off that easy. I think she was so surprised a he said lady journalists then be he told the exact same story in the exact same way, not doing anything. Thanks written interview. He tells the exact same way. Okay. And he is he said the independent recorded interview. And. Anyway, he's no hero because he sought to. I mean, this is like a we've had I mean. Men of color have been this has been a thing for for many, many years in this country of people aren't getting garden avenge. You know, the the the person of color taking taking his way with white women, and he just didn't seem. To get it. And I'm just thinking I'm thinking of his publicist spec. Sage just pulling their Herro because I can't even believe he brought it up yesterday at the press junket. And then tells the exact same story today to Robin Roberts, and then wants everyone to applaud him that he didn't do that that he didn't find anybody. To beat up takeout, preventing its dislike Liam. You're how old is he is in his late sixties? Yeah. Anyway. And then, you know, he kind of Lakers like, you know, he's sort of like, but I didn't do it. And so people are like. It's it's appalling. And it's so strange to me that he tells this story, and then tells it again. By way of an apology is so that's if you're seeing him. The, you know trending or there's a lot of different opinion pieces about. He just doesn't get to say that story. And then like that he gets off that was forty years ago. And then I went and talked to a priest a week later. I guess we're all lucky didn't find somebody to you know, exact revenge on the New York premiere the movie's been cancelled. Yeah Roberts thing went when he told when he said, well, I'll tell you the story I told the lady journalists at the independent repeats it verbatim. And I mean, I Robin Roberts. She she's a she's a true pro. Yeah. Because I mean to like go, well, I restrained myself from going out and killing innocent black, man. I saw I mean, would you want a metal? I'm having such a hard time with that. Yeah. It just bothers me. And then he said, well, you know, if I would have, you know, I would have done that no matter what he didn't even see. That. Yeah. He said he would have said the same thing if it had been Lithuanian or you would have had to get more qualifiers. You know because he's living in Ireland. You know, just luckily, I mean, it was just. It saddens me because we're still that racism very real a Trayvon Martin would have been twenty four today. So, you know, there's there's people the the racial injustice in this country is real and he just like. Yeah. I just I don't even know is that he that. He doesn't see it as problematic. I guess is is how it felt to me in the interview that he didn't even I think what he just sees his anger was. That's what he is. That's the part of the racism says, my rage was so powerful rage was crazy. I didn't know how to control it. I was absolutely rage feldon. So it didn't matter who it was. It was going to be taken out an anyone and her. Yeah. That's the part. That's wrong. The anger is wrong. But he doesn't see that the racism part of it is the bigger problem. So is he turned to get across that was forty years ago. And I'm not that same person. Well, I think he wasn't trying to get across anything. He was a bad idea. Up. This is the scare this. This is I mean because if the guy had been white. Ages friend would he have gone looking from random. He said that. Yeah. He would have needed another question. And he would have had that in. That is the that's the racism part of it. Because then he would said, you know. Well, was he Scottish or did he have the I would have gone more? But for him. It's good enough black band. That's the racist. Part of it's it's a rough story, and it didn't make any sense, and he did it to himself. And he did it twice. That's the part that I don't get where the publicists, right? Where are the publicity, Robin, even cetera? We'll we'll look, you know, I mean. Well, we're looking forward to seeing the movie I mean was to such a pro, and I was like ready to Bonk him upside the head him just like you are being really. An egghead dance. And you don't see the problem. What the problem is that then makes people even more crazy..

"Liam Neeson stepped all the way in it told a story never share before he should have never shared it. Now about the time. He learned that a loved one had allegedly been raped the actor listened to her story. He asked what color were they she said, it was a black person. He said he walked around with a weapon for a week, quote, hoping some black bastard would have a go at me about something. So I could kill him. Whoa. Yeah. He added that growing up in Northern Ireland. During all that giving them insight into the primal need for revenge, and how destructive that can be. So clearly people were not happy, obviously took to Twitter started. Slamming him calling him a racist saying career over nice knowing you and Bye-bye Kristof Saint John who played Neil winters on the young. And the restless since one thousand nine hundred ninety one died on Sunday at the age of fifty two. They did a well check on his California home for him found his body. No word on how he died. Sources say alcohol may have played a role Saint John and his ex wife near boxer Mia Saint John lost their twenty. Yeah. He was married. John lost their twenty four year old son Julian to suicide in two thousand fourteen. So Christoph himself had even threatened suicide blast or two years ago and was placed on a seventy two hours psychiatric hold. He's been really struggling had been really struggling since the death of his son. He leaves behind two daughters one with Saint John and one with his second wife Alana doll last year. He announced he was engaged to a model as well. So very sad. He was on that show for a long time till some Sixers fans have said that KENDALL Jenner is bringing the Kardashian curse to the team because Ben Simmons Jimmy Butler, the whole and badge that's hilarious out of been on and off for about a year things appear to be on because she's been at a lot of sixer games. That whole Matthew said the team is thirteen to two since they've been dating. So maybe good luck charm mortar. Check out online today. Speaking of KENDALL Jenner. Wow. I mean. Wow. Her little baby dunk. All naked naked danke on Italian vogue. She looks amazing. Andy Cohen and the first picture of him with his new son Benjamin nine pounds big baby anti dot com. That's. Showdown in a couple of minutes here five questions for three hundred and fifty bucks. If you could stop her. We said four day win streak three day wins. What are we saw? I have ADD. I forgot. Yeah. That's what it was three hundred and fifty bucks is the price that if he can beat her and five questions some friends of mine almost exactly my age. They just had a baby. And I saw them recently. God bless them. I love these people. They. They're tired though. I'm thirty eight years old. I think he might be forty. She might be thirty eight they're tired, and I have so much respect for them. Because I realized that if I if I meet somebody and get married that I'm gonna be the I'm going to be the person having a baby night in my twenties, but likely in my late thirties or forties, and I'm probably going to be tired too. But but this baby was having a total meltdown, and it's a baby. Like, it's less than a year having a total meltdown over something. And they're trying to quell the baby and trying to like. I don't know how you deal with the baby I'm on a plane the other day same deal. This baby's going crazy. The moms apologizing to me, and I'm like, I don't know why you're because clearly seeing that you're trying to like calm this baby down. And there's nothing that you don't know what you're going to do about it like their ears hurt or the little girl. Her ears hurt or something? I don't know what you're possibly going to do except for like, what do you do rot the baby? I mean your. Well, if it's a baby and the ears like a lot of times, you give them a bottle or something. Because like when they're sucking on the liquid helps their ears pop. So you try to distract them. Anyway, you can use to be the mom and the plane with every little tray like little bags of snacks brand new books that they've never read before. Because that's more exciting. Coloring computer, whatever it takes. But sometimes you can't do anything my mom used to do that too. She would buy like it'd be new stuff for this time. Yeah. You can't have this till we get on the plane. I'd be focused on that long enough that I wouldn't act up or whatever. But I bring this up because on read it. There was a discussion about the most in this is for people who have children toddlers young children, the most illogical breakdown that your kid has ever had one comes to mind. These made me laugh as a non parents these made me laugh eight five five five nine one zero three five for example. This isn't my house go into the house. This isn't my house show him, his toys and animals and his room. This isn't my. The kid didn't think that it was another kid wanted to wear two hats to school one on top of the other. And the mom said, no. And then the kid had a serious breakdown over that. Because I think at that point I would say just wear both hats. Yeah. But I wanna know if one comes to mind of complete and total breakdown that your kid because he's made me laugh, honestly. And they have to make you laugh probably in the aftermath dealing with it, especially if it's really crazy. Yeah. Way down the line way on the line. We laugh about those things. Eight five five five nine one zero three five will come back. We'll do that. When you hear these stories, and then we'll do the Soviet showdown.

"Let's move on to some spinoff news. The men in black spinoff is gearing up in. We have learned the Emma Thompson is joining the cast reprising her role from par three. Ben tell us about it yet. That's basically all we know from this one is that is that Emma Thompson who played agent zero in twenty twelve's men in black three is going to be coming back to reprise that role the so we know that agents era was sort of like the leader of the men in black. She took over that role after rip torn who played Zad in the first two movies. I guess he died in the third entry. It's been so long since I've seen men in black three, I thought at once in the theaters and basically just completely forgot about the movie. I know involved time travel. There's a lot of weird stuff going on that, but Emma Thompson is great. I mean, any movie that that adds her. I mean, like she automatically makes everything better. She's an Oscar winning actress and Oscar winning screenwriter the I think the second time that she will be returning to play the same character in a popular film franchise because she was also in the Harry Potter movies. So we know that she's the leader of the men in black and also Liam Neeson has been added to the cast of this spin off. We knew about that, but he is going to be playing the. Leader of the London branch of the minimum black and this spin off or reboot, or whatever it's going to be is supposed to take the action to more global scale. So maybe the two of them are going to. I don't know if they, they could have a big business meeting about how they're going to run the minimum black on a global scale. I don't know exactly if they're going to interact in person or share the screen. But if they do it, don't make a nice nice little reunion for them because they were both in love. Actually back in two thousand three now, did we always know that this is going to be said in the same universe? I mean, I, it is a spin off, but it's kind of a bit of a reboot as well. Did you connections? I mean, I think they, they have not said whether or not Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones. The stars of the the first three movies are going to be coming back, but I would not rule out a quick cameo from them. I think just I guess because I haven't set it on this episode. Chris Hemsworth antenna Thompson are leading the cast in this new edition, but. But yeah, I think this is the first official connection we have between this new movie and the the original trilogy. So I don't know. I mean, that certainly opens the door for the possibility of a cameo before wills Mathur Tommy Lee Jones and now that, yeah, now that we know it's one hundred percent set in that same universe. I'm going to predict right now that Will Smith appears either in one of the final two scenes of the movie or in an after cry or cry in credits. Seen that that's my prediction Mark down. Yeah, let's move onto Hamilton which might be headed to the big screen sooner than we think, but not as we had hoped Chris toilets, but it. Yes, everyone knows Hamilton, it's a huge, hit a Pulitzer prize winning musical. Everyone knows what it is even if you don't follow Broadway news and as is the case with most big musicals it's only a matter of time before Hollywood comes calling and turns this into a big movie and we had assumed it would take a while for this just because the film is the place still running and they don't wanna, you know, have it have the movie competing with the play. They want to get as many people at the play as possible. But now comes word there is going to be a film sooner than we thought, but it's not going to be the big Hollywood remake of the play instead right before Lin Manuel, Miranda the creator and original star of Hamilton. Left's the original cast along with pretty much all the original started to leave in two thousand sixteen. They recorded a alive performance with the entire original..
