"The original series when it started was the very first animated show to be daily and because of that responsibility they had to recycle a lot of the same frames So you'll see them walking always walking exactly the same in whatever location that they're at they're just reusing. The those are art steals the art frames and everything running and running at an angle tools from running. Yeah and then his whole parts Whatever he's punching. It's always the same one you know in the in the original constantly. Camera this this Revelations right here you find out later on why it is called revelations Figure it out with the first two episodes They change up. They change up things in a way. That doesn't feel like it's being changed up. There doesn't seem like to me. It didn't come off as they had a an agenda. This is how a situation happened and this was the results of what happened. This is what they did afterwards. And it makes sense and it's really bad ass certain times like the fight. The fights in the combat dynamic and the The subsequent villains in episode two when they move onto the motherboard. and it's not just skeletal. His minions it is a try clubs logs. Yeah oh by the way. The henry rollins as that was that was part well and also just to go through or not to not to derail but looking at the cast because that was something that i hadn't looked at yet we've got dennis hays birds baiter stephen root liam cunningham. Sarah michelle gellar as teela might mark. Hamill is skeleton for lena. Heady is evil. Lyn it go really excited to see this stuff again and it seems to be true to what i remembered and again i'm not as steeped in it but it didn't. It didn't betray any thoughts that i had in regards to how this masters of the universe was being presented and i know that as steve mentioned. There are a bunch of people in in the chat. Who wanna to have a ask you questions. I did want to ask the elephant in the room question. Do you feel like the presentation of the first two episodes represented a bait and switch on what you were expecting as masters of the universe fans no not at all i. I knew that Does this something along. The lines of the story was inevitable. It it's been written. It's been drawn. It's been hinted at all the other shows that it just makes sense. So that's why. I've been such a staunch supporter cheerleader. This whole time trying to tell people just wait. Just wait watch it watch. Watch everything watching all. Obviously obviously henry rollins driving Driving a road tone was that was. That was everything i ever wanted was pretty fucking sick. Do yeah i see you wanna get you wanna see if any of the fine people. Do you want to do the chat for a bit. Yeah says into house. Well glad to have you back sir. Well coming and back in the chat Treasury says it's quite a win. Scott can read better than i figured. That's every day horrible reader because it might dyslexia. Nice dammar a little bit. But i'll take it. Thank you very much..

"Dare there's even moments whereas like he kinda reminds me of like old bogut before they dubbed him over where he's hitting these hard ours sounds like a pirate and it was like. That's fucking merman. Did what we did was like kind of like you know if you go back and watch the old show the voices these voices don't sound thing like the old. They didn't have to back them because they were kids. And so the boys were kid friendly stuff but here we get to grow up. I'm like somebody like man at arms gets to be liam cunningham. We played Liam liam just everywhere. We love that. He's got this like calm center. Like he did. On game of thrones but we portray him in the show as the most dangerous man attorney. He is batman. He's he's alright swayne. Who could fuck it ronnie. They can kill you with a look and even when he's not in physical battle it's mental battle as well so like getting that to voice that character suddenly lens that character more credibility than he ever had. He's not just the mustache with the fruit bowl on this. He's like that's everybody's dad and stuff is loved it man at arms my favorite human character and then to have cutting him like scenes where he's he's just like some of the reads and the attention he gives to that character is just so good into place so oh man. This is the show That i'm excited for this. It's so good. We try really hard. The idea was our. Don't fuck up their child. Don't anybody's child. And now. But i like the changes you made like. The girls are jacked. I love that. That's definitely like a post. Cora influence you know in a world where most of the cartoons i grew up with. You know people at spaghetti arms and shit. You're it's like these people carried fucking swords they way twenty four county. It's swinging a around at all times. Fucking jack dart's no spoilers but the moment that There's a moment the evil then takes her crown off in even that moment of just seeing evil ans hair. That was like ooh. This is a moment. I like this stolen from one of the episodes of the show. Like like basically anything you see in the shell like. I'm telling you i'm not creative. I have no new ideas. And i had a wonderful staff Writers but like we leaned in to like. If you're going to do a thing maybe it can reference a thing that happened because yeah and out there that's going to be like. Oh my god and our whole plot kind of hinges on an old episode of the show. That paul dini wrote years and years ago involving the sorceress character. So like you know everything that we didn't show like when evil and takes off the helmet white hairs flowing that literally happened while they were on the crystal the crystal see like in the eighties. You know interesting he bo. Mahjong stuff is just our guys. Power us out of nation are directors patent them. You know they're not doing coloring book drawings like they did back in the for humanity as they get to draw bad ass like wicked versions of these characters and got married with powerhouse animation which is just fantastic. They they are it on everything. They're making age. They took a jump in their castle. Work is fantastic. Mono stuff is all the stuff they do. The the greek gods is show was blood zeus. The zoo is fantastic. But for some reason i think going into this they were like look of everything we've done. This is probably the most high profile. We're going to jack. Our game up even further so patent. Adam who are directors. I don't think they directed before they'd worked on a lot of other powers. Animation is the first time they stepped up to the big job. And i will always advocate for a first timer. Because what you lack in experience you get in fucking passion like kids grow up on the show but now quoted chapter and verse and love it as deeply as people from the eighties. They're all younger than me. And stuff but like these cats became additional writers as well like we'd drive the scripts and then later on when they were animating the show since they're overly familiar with every script and every episode they would see shit. We lost episode ten. There's a line that adam was like. Hey we're going to call back this line from episode one because it'd be a really wicked way to tie this all up and i was like as the head writer of the show. I'm gonna take credit for that. Thank you very. That was did because like you mentioned like teela. There's like that sorceress episode. I think i know the one that you're talking about. But like you're holding the old cartoon to standards like in real life where it's like you kinda catholic that character and like we can't let that slide. You gotta bring it back. So that was was my favorite thing about the opening of the old showcases. So lug audacious is very comic book now. Dc worked on the masters universe characters beef right to to fill nation but So the idea of. I've got a secret identity and this person can't know about it but some people who come straight out of dc comics and that's what always appeal to me. But it's also like real grist for the dramatic mill. Where it's like. Everybody knows except her. Why am i gonna find out in the worst possible way at the worst possible time. How do you live with that and stuff. So the deception was like that was the adult elements of our show. Everything else about it. Looks like your childhood. But then we add these adult themes as you saw on the first episode. I ten minutes plays like a really well drawn version of the universe right. Something happens and you're like holy shit like somebody is like what and the characters react in the same way where they're all like wait. Something different has gone on. And that's where the adventure kind of takes. Its turn pivots and begins. It's like putting putting animated character and dip and roger rabbit. Everyone's freaking out that animates great reference. I haven't thought about that. Can use for that brand wheelhouse and still i was like. That's fucking metal. The fat fucking metal. Well i can't wait for everyone to see masters of the universe coming out on netflix masters of the universe. Revelations coming out in a couple of days july twenty third got an subscription. You could see the first five episodes. They're all dropping then Then we can talk about it together. You'll know the same things that that we know as much as kevin knows but we'll catch up to him eventually. Thank you so much for taking the time scheduled to talk with us. We're so happy super excited for the show coming for everyone to see it again. thank you. We're really really happy to have you with us so jazz for the next five episodes with men honestly. This sounds like hype but the better than the first five. Oh it's the one thing. I was happy with what we did on the show like. I wrote episode one. So i should be like episode one. The best episode two is better than one three is better than two four is.

"And i wanted to. I wanted to feel something now. It's look at one of the episodes with actor liam cunningham of game of thrones fame. He is in the episode. Human is with actor bryan cranston as an actor. One of the things. You can sit there early like go going to do big movies on about that. That's a lot bullshit but all you can hope for is the company that you keep. You'd like to see yourself in the company. People that you respect. Mr cranston has taught me my family years and years and years from wait when my kids were small mog on the middle to breaking ball to whatever they. My kids have grown up with mr cranston. And he's onset. He's he's everything you wish for. He's just completely professional completely passionate his attention to detail when welcome both on script and with. Where's the shots baba. He's he's he has a child like passion for what he's doing. He's been in the game a long time. And you just kinda go look. There's hope for may if this guy hasn't been spoiled by success hasn't sat on his laurels and unload telling the stories and on as he said the most important thing is the characterization of the character that you're watching the story if the characters are good the story the story will follow. Because you'll have an empathy for the more you'll you'll you'll wish them on your se. Just luminous she's fantastic and michelle. One and i mean i i play the boss. The emotional journey of the whole thing is is their marriage and So we kind of play the balls. I put them in harm's way and put him in a bit of trouble when he gets back so He's not a guy. But i'm a general one things don't probably but but But brian runs car toys. Actions absolutely fantastic. And he's he's gonna lead a shift of of character oriented debt. He's just it's like it's shakespearean much is don't especially towards the end of. It's really really beautiful. She's got some gorgeous boards to say braith briley. It's just look it. Just feel you feel really nice. And it's science fiction and philip k dick and it's just gonna go. You gotta helped out of the bed memorial. There was no difficulty tearing myself off my pillow. When i was working on this it was really lovely. He was talking about. Essie davis who stars along with bryan cranston. Here's more on game of thrones. Well it's not a time thing. I know you understand the question. That's not a time thing. Because before game of thrones doubles. More or less what. I did all the time i hit the ground running. I'll do a job. Maybe movie for three months and then was unemployed. Nile bitten down to the quite soul to cover of. What is it. Seven years. Or whatever i've had to the tax montezuma kicking down my door on eventually got a couple of quitting the bang for the first time which is what which is a bad to stop this fucking season ends wayne. County is house. his nails bitten over the quake. The security aspect of just pricing was was really nice. But i mean artistically neil to be you know i got involved in a television program that became a cultural phenomenon. You're just one as an actor if you like. If you live actor and it's always the words on the the the guys can be beautiful beautiful words to say they they trip me up at speeches. They they it. They got the measure of me as an actor. And they they throw the slide on the go mon. You're kidding me. They know. I'm going to be working for hours in a hotel room on my own looking like my person trying to get the rhythms of speeches. And they they They bring me to the gym david down as the acting. Jim and i love it and it's almost this. Almost some of this stuff is is a puzzle dot needs working on its walked with repetition being alone and learnt pots of coffee. And on it's great. It's great it's. It's like a very very difficult crossword puzzle that i love doing and then we got to do it in front of a camera with all the fabulous actors. It's fantastic. that sounds like fascinating episode. I really that's definitely one. I'm going to see. I'd probably end binging on this series. I think it's going to be that good. There's more sci fi talked so stay tuned back on scifi talk. I'm tony tomato. Here's more with executive producers. Ron moore star trek the next generation and battle star galactica fame. And also david canter is not a dirty not anymore. No couldn't you couldn't even pitch one like ten years ago at all even even five years ago but everything comes back around. You know what what made you guys jump on board stories. I mean the fact that the opportunity Isa provided to us these. He's provided us to take this extraordinary trove of her dad's work and to reinterpreted with the screenwriters and directors whom we admire and wanna work with like she gave us she said it just make them really good and just try to make them contemporary. Don't try to do them as written and and it's a made the most extraordinary. It's the most victorian trove of material to work with as a producer. It's just gold. I i didn't know the short stories before this project you know because they've been complicated publication history. I think they've been. They were published in various ways. A lot of them are out of print for a long time so i had never. I wasn't familiar with at all. So they're all kind of like brand new like. Oh you know and I got the one i did. is called real life. That's based on a short story. Called a museum piece and i was really just inspired by the concepts. Within it sought. My adept was took pretty far field. If you read it and watch the show. You're going wait a minute. That is really what 'cause it's just about. It's a show about the nature reality. And what's real and what's not and i took it into sort of a virtual reality realm and played with these two characters in very different places questioning the nature of the reality with shannon pack win and terrence howard and in the short stories just one character's journey so it's really a completely different thing but that was very taken with it and i was happy to do that one and i think most of the writers approached it. You know it was a big bucket of stories and they all kind of found the one that really spoke to them you know. Sometimes they all cirque they might have been a couple of writers circling around the same story. But by the time you really came time to pick one everyone it's sorted themselves out into the ones that were actually wore. Inspiration was darren anthology series. I was an inspiration for this one. We talked a lot about the twilight zone. Not structurally. But i think what michael talked about. A lot was his experience watching as a kid knowing that there was the sort almost this reassuring voice at the beginning. Saying you're about to you know you're the tilted capital it's up to the the the heavens and you start this journey and he always felt like that's what we're gonna do is. We're going to start each episode in a way that we know that you're gonna be on this incredible journey and then we always through.

"He fights off the forces of Queen Maeve at the age of seventeen. Believe virtually singlehandedly like he's dat, powerful warrior, but he's eventually tricked by warriors in the employ of made and slain at the age of twenty seven, so not a long life, but then again. You know you're an Irish warrior. During the first century there's not a long life expectancy there now they kind of have to employ some trickery in order to overcome his strength, which think is a common feature in like mythic hero cycles you see that with like Samsung in in Jewish legend, and you sort of see version of it with Achilles with them, finding out his one weakness, and indeed there's basically like a three-part plan that has to be employed here I mean the first one being key. They tricked him into eating dogmeat. Which Breaks Taboo in weakens his spirit. Yeah, I read somewhere that this came about Bhai pitting two taboos against each other like there's a taboo against refusing hospitality on one hand, but there's also a taboo against eating dogmeat. So what if somebody shows you hospitality by offering you dog meat? You're you're caught? Yeah, you're caught there. That's you know. It's still interruptus so he had to pick, and he picked to not refusing hospitality, but he ate the dog meat, and that that screwed him up. Now the next thing that helps if you're trying to take out a half, divine warrior is to have a divine weapon of your own a magical weapon of your own that will will help you slay them, and so that's what the trio do here. They hit him with a magical disembowelling spear that is enchanted to kill kings. They apparently had three of these, and they used to on his on his compasses, including the chariot tear. King of chariots, which seems kind of like a a loophole in the whole king thing like you don't have to actually be a king. You're just kind of a quote. Unquote, a King of something, but colon has like a really bad dude moment here like he gets it with the spear, but he's like I'm not going down that easy. Yeah, he's not GONNA die. Like that, he is going to die standing up fighting, so he like tuxes innards back into his body. And then. Stumbles over to pillar lashes himself to the pillar that he can fight and die standing up right. They're going to have to come in and take him on his feet, but okay, so he's tied. They're dying and they gotta be trade right because Helen is the killing machine, even dying, cut open with a with the kill, Speier tied to Iraq or a pillar he's going to be. Be Scary, so they don't WanNa. Get too close so I think one source says that they had to wait until a bird landed on him in order to know that he had actually died. Yeah, and then they move in then what you do, you cut off his head to be sure when they cut off his head. There's this brilliant light that like cuts off. One of Attackers Sword Handset leave, and then it's not until they they cut off Colin sword arm that the light dies away and that he's definitely dead, so it's like you don't have one thing to cut away the seat of reason from this mighty warrior also have to cut away like the the physical sore hand of the warrior. There's a wonderful like full telling of this final battle of one in particular that light came from Lady Augusta Gregory. Coo. Coo Helen of Murtha Ni from nine hundred to. That's all online I. Recommend checking that out. If you want the full blow by blow, death of Colon, so how do we not have full hall and movie? Yeah, it seems like we should. I mean how many Hercules movies do. We have right way too many easily. Peel off some of that money into the Caholon Enterprise. Now we were talking before the episode about who to cast as we could not come up with a good idea because all of the best Irish actors, we were thinking of to cast this Irish hero, or now all those yeah, but like Pierce Brosnan Yeah Pierces right there in his name. But, but sadly like we said he he died at twenty seven. You need you need a young like powerful and imposing Irish men who is also a really good actor. Yeah I, think some of my favorite Irish actor. Let's see there's There's Brendan Gleeson guess he he's older now. There's I love. Liam Cunningham the guy who plays her Davos on game of thrones but HAG. I don't know I. I don't know who the young guy is I. Don't know everybody can think of is too old. Like even be There's a thinking well. Maybe a professional wrestler I get. A big muscle bound dude to play colon. Okay, there's there's a guy named shameless. WHO's a big Pale Irish wrestler, but he. He's too old for the part. Maybe he could play the doubt version of Colon. You do kind of. Like the incredible Hulk TV show Brad Lou Ferrigno playing the the actual Hulk Oh this is giving me a great idea, actually like the main normal Holland before he helps out, he should be like Super Way. Fi like a very very wavy, boyish teen heartthrob kind of Irish actor, and then when he hawks out, he gets replaced by the bodybuilder. Okay, I like this so we'll. Maybe our Irish listeners especially We'll have some ideas about who who could be cast in such a film are Irish listeners also I'm sure going to get in touch with us to let us know how badly we're saying all these words I'm sorry. All right well, we're GONNA. Take a break, but when we come back, we're going to get into the real meat of this episode. We're going to talk about. The unnatural. Death Weapon of Holland, we're GONNA talk about. The Guy Bulga everybody, today's episode is sponsored by Native Deodorant. Native has good smells with ten cents, including their classics and rotating seasonals. You're guaranteed to find one..

"Jewel in the crown of final hour just think it would be just like being a JAMES BOND movie. Exactly what it is is people too much money in no taste. That's fair. Right. But you do. Jack Nicholson affair the Monaco Alcatraz for the rich. Trip to. English ROY because so much mon- referred to as a a sunny place for shady people. But I think that would probably just jealous that they went to go there. Beautiful talks. I don't even know how to play back around. I probably lose all my money, but ten minutes. Right. I just don't even know how just going there Tang out go to an F one race drink champagne, right? The law. Copious amounts of vintage stuff. You have your Monaco card revoked if you don't drink. That's how easy it is the way I would imagine it is very close to what you're saying. The other thing they say before one specifically because so many of them live in that area. Yeah. Is there's no question of how do you make a small fortune of Formula one start with a large? Exactly, that's what they say about the wine business to how do you make a small fortune in the wind busy store with the large one Liam Cunningham here on the rich Eisen show before I geek out with you on game of thrones probably ever human being on the planet. Guys. Let's talk about the hot zone on National Geographic. What a cast Hofer grace Juliana Margulis just to name to and you know, Emmerick as well on the flipped. Absolutely. So what's this about? I we just discussed it. But I'll give you the floor and what it's about why people should go watch. It story is based very much on the true events that happened in nineteen. Eighty nine thirty years ago. Where A Bola was unleashed ten miles from the White House. The Lookie thing was various strains of this particular horrific disease. Most most most people know about this thing is. It was saying, what's what's incredibly important is that this is not just a piece that you know, a historical piece of news that we're dramatizing the second largest outbreak of a bowl is happening as we speak in the Congo. It's incredibly important that in a sense, we get this message out, I'm gonna scientific community is aware of it. But we are not pushing hard enough. What happens is this is only a plane ride away from it coming back here or my country or anybody else's are ustralia are anywhere else. So credibly important. We get this out. However. People were trying to this remarkable drama with with the Mike -nificant, Jillian Amarilys though and Tober and everybody else. So we want to get this thirty in a entertaining fashion as possible. But at the same time, we're on GO. We all know how they're connected to the scientific community natural world. It's the perfect place to get it out there. So what is the message that you want to get out there or the makers again, it's based on the book by Richard Preston the hot zone. What what is the message? We need to throw the kitchen sink, everything up this out. This problem is treatable look smallpox polio virtually radically those this can be done here. The first fifteen minutes of our show shows in detox what I mean for the faint of heart. Yes, what this can do to it to a human being. M more not doing our jobs properly. If we don't try them come time this particular beast of a virus? And that's again a six episode series. It's too and I'd essentially starting on Memorial Day night on National Geographic, eight nine eastern time. So make note of that right right here right now. Okay. How'd you get a call to be Donald? Roma. Yeah. Let me talk about this with him. It's it's kind of weird. Well, another producer so me and something that they really liked. They brought me up for a particular role of the outset. I didn't come in until the beginning of the second season for another row. And then what other role was I'm not telling you that wouldn't be fair on the other actor for my memoirs. I've never right. The John snow just enough to do this. Well, we'd be here further. We'll be exactly. Thought it was getting the usual Hollywood heave ho and they said. The more time next show about ever enough guys can Mike and said, look, we have this thing we think is a great fit for you. And I went open. It was Senator I'll say, and I've been there for seven of the eight say's. Yeah. It's it's been amazing amazing. So the time by the time you got the role of cer- Dabo's. We'd already known game of thrones was a hit. Well, we know says they knew that it was going to be huge as filthy liar. We we we knew it was going to be good the script. And I I've been long enough doing this the know something beautiful say, right? When I the first ten episodes, just went home. I can't believe I'm going to be part of this story. Right. Because it was approach. They mentioned my agent mentioned dragons shadow babies, let me stop you there. Oh, no, no. Look this. Renault people, but blah, blah, blah, on let me say the script on just went this just astonishingly beautiful writing on. That's still an actor can help for and the character dob. I mean, what your character? Liam Cunningham has seen through a lived at low far. Spoilers. Do you know, do you know, how everything can you do know everything article leg? No seriously, though, as you, and I are sitting here right now, you Liam Cunningham me rich is you do know how everything ends in a couple of weeks. Yes. I do carry that way. "Day night called the hot zone about when. The Ebola virus jump the ocean and came over to our shores, it's a fascinating series. And we'll talk about that and game thrones with Liam Cunningham in a minute. But tonight, it's a huge huge doubleheader of playoff basketball, Milwaukee Bucks. Trying to close out the Celtics and maybe carry Irving's career with them. And then the pivotal game five as you know, the game fives are either pivotal or decisive? So it's decisive in Milwaukee tonight, potentially and definitely pivotal between the wall or rockets and warriors both games on TNT. And in Oakland right now. One of my favorites on the show as well. As on TV off the air as well from pardon, the interruptions, Mike wilbon, how are you Michael? I'm good. How are you doing hanging in there? Absolutely hanging in there. I guess what? I sent this to you right off the bat in Celtics bucks. Rockets warriors. What do you think is on the line tonight in both of those series? Michael wilbon. Well, you have one of them. I mean for Boston everything I mean, that's the that's the different next year. If I I'm presuming the ducks were win, maybe I shouldn't presume that guy. So they thought they sell to spend time series of to having been the forty years worth of playoff games in Boston. And knowing how that building worse than the fan base. The crowd the atmosphere was against teams, none of that evidence against Milwaukee. And I as you mentioned I'm here in northern California for the game tonight. And I you know, everybody's still presumes that the warriors are gonna win the words of their team. The warriors are not a great team right now. They're not they don't do anything. Great, you know, through sheer talent and even playing a sea level game. And I think there seem minus right now a lot of areas. Relative to what we see them at their best. They're not great team. They don't do. What did they do? Great. They don't shoot the three grade. They don't defend all the rim. And maybe I don't know that this boogie cousins. Returning to a line of eight point help that now if they don't have that element. I'm going to say they actually at times mischievous McGee, and they don't have they don't have much bench bench contribution. They're not great bear. So, you know, the rockets winning tonight. Yes, I could I don't know that I'm predicting that. But I'm not particularly anything with that series..

"He is many people will just sitting there stream on green to you could say that he's playing in similar role to green the running an offense through him. In the same way that the warriors is Bj Armstrong points out that that they run the offense through Draymond green and the nuggets are one win away. And if the rockets pull it off. They have home-court advantage in the Western Conference finals. These are facts. These are all facts, you're right. And and if the box move forward, and it's a I mean, it's we can sit here and say, you know, everyone's assuming okay being old school. Sixers Celtics Eastern Conference files, sharp, elbows, bad blood. I don't think we're getting that. And I think we had the exact opposite is the way thinks it right now box raptors, but as we're sitting here right now, it is totally possible. The Denver finishes this series off. The blazers hoping to push a game seven, but they're terrific. I mean, Maury Millsaps they are terrific. And we were talking about that the last couple of days with Irv and Mitch Richmond. Who sat in their a team unless you're a die hard fan. You're not seeing a lot of them. You're not seeing them a lot of national television. Oh, you don't really know much about them. So you're really getting introduced a who these guys are you realizing jokers one of these fantastic young players twenty four years old using Jamal Murray. Same thing guy who can really fill up the box score and score thirty plus on a on a given night. And you're really learning. How entertaining and fun this team is right? You know, Michael Malone the head coach or worrying about him. So they're really a fun team. And forget their the two seed like you just said if the rockets somehow pull this off. Yeah, they have home court advantage Millsap, also a second round, selection, you know, and and minimal just put a little point on this. And then I'll let you know who's on the show, and it's gonna be a lot of fun. With with the nuggets playing the way that they are. And the reason why we don't pay attention to them is again tonight is warriors and rockets Michael wilbon on the show top of our three. I mean, this is it we're talking about the warriors the champions the rockets who last year had the best chance to beat them. You also have again the team that the nuggets are beating right now in the blazers that first round series between the blazers in Oklahoma City thunder featured, obviously Oklahoma City trying to get into the realm of rockets. Warriors with former MVP Russell Westbrook. Mr. triple double himself with Paul George who Oklahoma City acquired and then remarkably kept even though the Lakers had a welcome mat out four Paul George with LeBron James here, and then you also have in the Western Conference. A Spurs team coached by an iconic first ballot hall of fame coach, I mean, I could go on and on. And so the reason why I mean the Lakers got better run nationally than the nuggets. For sure sure will bombs going to be calling in from Oakland. And we've got a die hard blazers fan on the show to lament. He's non other than the actor who plays dollar Bill stern on billions, which I appeared on Sunday night. I was called evading that caper since January. You really worried that a nice shot that in January and his the scene was fantastic. I couldn't have been happy the way it all played out. He's a diehard blazers fancy. He's gonna call in talk basketball and our billion sane sweet. And Liam Cunningham is on this program. He is a really wild new national NAT GO show called the hot zone. It's very close to what you're saying. And the other thing they say, but the one specifically because so many of them live in that area. Yeah. Is there's no question of how do you make a small fortune of Formula one start with a large one? That's right. Exactly. That's what they say about the wine business too. How do you make a small fortune in the wind? Busy start with a large one Liam Cunningham here on the rich Eisen show K before I geek out with you on game of thrones. Like probably ever the human being on the planet. Guys. I'm engaged. Let's talk about the hot zone on National Geographic. What a cast toe for grace Juliana Margulis just to name to and you know, Amrik as well. Absolutely. So what's this about? I know we just discussed it. But I'll give you the floor and what it's about. And why people should go watch. It our stories is based very much on the true events that happened in nineteen eighty nine. So what's that thirty years ago? Yeah. Where A Bola was unleashed ten miles from the White House. The lucky thing was various strains of this particular horrific disease. Most most most people know have by this thing is as I was saying, what's what's incredibly important is that this is not just a a piece that you know, a historical piece of news that we're dramatizing the second largest outbreak football is happening as we speak in the Congo. So it's incredibly important that in a sense, we get this message out, I'm gonna scientific community is aware of it. But we are not pushing hard enough. What happens is this is only a plane ride away from it coming back here or my country or anybody else's are ustralia or anywhere else in Africa. So it's incredibly important that we get this out. However, we're not trying to preach. The people were trying to sell this remarkable drama with with the magnificent Juliana Michalis, Noah and Telfer and everybody else. So we want to get this thirty in in a entertaining fashion as possible, but at the same time, we're I'm not jail. I mean, I'll know how they're connected to the. Scientific community natural world. It's the perfect place to get it out there. So what is the message that you want to get out there or the makers again, it's based on the book by Richard Preston the hot zone. What what is the message? We need to throw the kitchen sink everything out this out. This problem is changeable look at smallpox polio. Frankly, virtually Radicati those this can be done here. The first fifteen minutes of our show shows in horrific detail, but I mean for the faint of heart. Yes, what this can do to it to a human being on 'em more not doing our job properly. If we don't try and contain this particular beast of a virus. And that's again a six episode series. It's too and I essentially starting on Memorial Day night on National Geographic at nine eastern time. So make note of that right right here right now. Okay. How'd you get a call to be dominant? Yeah. Let me talk about this with him. It's kind of it's kind of weird what another project Asami and something that they really light on. They brought me up for a particular role. Right at the outset. I didn't come in until the beginning of the second season before another row, and then what other role was I'm not telling you that wouldn't be fair on the other actor keep that for my memoirs. I never write. The was wasn't Jon snow just coming up to do this process. Well, we'd be here further. We'll be. Exactly. Probably bike. I thought I was getting the usual Hollywood heave ho, and they said look does not have the more time next time I'll show about ever enough. The guys came back and said, look, we have this thing that we think is a great fit for you. And I went to open it was Santana stable, and I've been there for seven of the eight seasons. Yeah. And it's it's it's been amazing amazing. So the time by the time, you you got the role of Saddam, those we'd already known game of thrones was a well, we well know anybody says they knew that it was going to be huge as a as a healthy liar. We we we knew it was going to be good scripts, and I I've been long enough doing this to know something beautiful when I say right on when I've seen the first ten episodes. I just went home, my go-to company even going to be part of this story, right because it was approached force. And they mentioned my agent mentioned dragons shadow babies, and let me stop you there love. No, look, this is the high speed soprano PayPal. But blah, blah. All right. Let me say the script, and I just went this just astonishingly beautiful writing. And that's an actor can help for and the character, sir. I mean, what your character? That's true. Like every single time. You're you're the fourth member of the cast has been here. We've had kid- Harrington Lena heating, and John Bradley, and nobody ever gives anything up. I feel like I go down the same road every single, Dan. And and they'll look at trying to Langley. That's why they all look at me. Like, why do you even want to know like don't you want to know? Very strange. Listen, we get it all the time. I'll be obviously anybody that comes across as a huge interest. And it's really gratifying because it sort of reminds us that we're we're trying to best in we're doing this. Because we kind of people really appreciate, however, when you're a stranger it's their foot one opportunity to say, please tell me something just they they have to ask I'm gonna fail it, really. Not y'all go. Oh, okay. I'll tell you. And they go. I ask I don't wanna know. That's the fact of it. That's true. By the way. That's a great way to put it in minister Donohoe sway of putting it right? He's buried in character, by the way, that was the voice right there. Dipped into the Java voice. Right. You dip pride in. You've been accused of of being Zorro high, which is has never shown up the Lord of light, the boss, and the main mine, I there's what's what's I treat those kind of things as as an incredible compliment because we've been doing it so long it's incredibly difficult to predict on people are still going is. "We're talking about the game of thrones and much has been said about the last scenes by game of thrones cast and each one of them has filmed their last seen ever and the one of them is commented on it to certain extent and kit Harrington who plays Jon snow. Said his last scene filmed us his character. Couldn't have been more of a wet fart of a scene. I think I I think I got my final day changed about eighteen times to the point where I didn't know whether it was I was like, well, just just don't tell me, and then it came and I had that final scene, which was very average. So this may not be. It may not be his last seen in the days. I'm sure they will they will shoot in sequence lasting they filmed with him. He said it was very average. It's probably just walking and talking. I was just walking somewhere with Liam Cunningham who plays novels and Jacob Anderson who plays grey worm. It couldn't have been more of a wet far of the sea. However when he was done truly done with game of thrones. He said the emotions really did come. I broke down. After after it was over. I'd seen Peter Dinka DJ do his last seen earlier in the day. And he broke down. I'd been at other people's wraps like Sophie Turner's, that's sensei. She you've just saw them all collapse, and it happened to me it was a beautifully weighted ending. And then it was like, okay. I'm actually done with this show. I love it. It's my pride and joy, it's been a pleasure to be a part of it. But I'm done he said, but you really shouldn't have shaved your beard. I'm guessing you we won't see much head from in the future is that this is his that SNL stuff. I looked at oh pretty cute without the Tim Williams. Known as the man on TV saying hotel for Vago you've seen those. Oh, yeah. He's been arrested Vago guy and his hometown of Houston with the drunk driving. He was reportedly found passed out behind the wheel of a moving lane of traffic. What with us foot on the break? We have lift. He was we had he didn't. He didn't think to call. I don't understand anyone getting anymore. At least they're investigating a reported shooting in west Jordan that left a teen with a minor gunshot wound. I think it was outside of searchers. You know, you think you'd go there for party supplies. But no, the gut shot. I'll see all right. He was a minor gunshot wound. Apparently, the teen told officers that he and his friends had pulled behind searchers Jordan landing to let their dog out at seven pm. The teams had somebody pulled up in a car alongside them and somebody inside shot at them. He said they got back in the car and drove to a hospital. Police investigating and said that they those near the scene said they didn't see or hear anything that could have been a shooting. We had officers come out to the store. Check see if there were any signs or clues there. There was a shooting. They didn't find any evidence. So I think maybe they're questioning him a little closer about how his minor gunshot wound occurred. I was shot at searchers once. Yeah. Healed the the flag pops out and says bang writing. The I, you know, got you really hurt actor Hugh Jackman about to embark on world tour that will take him through Europe North America Austrailia think he's coming here. Yeah. And you might think that he would be happier. Making films and spending half a year traveling around the world performing four or five times a week. But you would be wrong. He says I have never had more fun than when I'm on stage. His this the man the music the show it features stories and songs from the boys from Ozlem is beauty and the beast as well as the greatest showman. And he says he's particularly looking forward to the Salt Lake City dates in July. He says that he credits the success of the movie the greatest showman. Low enlarge part of Salt Lake City, Utah did seem to embrace that actresses from. Oh, we felt like so that's part of the reason. Part of the reason, you know, it's interesting that the the movie was a success be it had not good reviews, but somehow loved it people people who found it launched loved it in spite of the critical reviews he said I can't getting phone calls from studio. People going what's going on in Salt Lake City going ballistic there keep selling out. So I'm really grateful to an excited to bring my one man show, the Salt Lake. Let's see. Okay. Here's a story for you. All right under you got a couple of minutes. I'll I'll do this one. Now, researchers in the far east, you know, the mystic form over there. That way. Yes, have successfully implanted human brain genes into monkeys. Don't do that. She was part of the study aimed at getting insights into the unique evolution of human intelligence. However, the tests have sparked fierce ethical debate with some comparing them. To the sci-fi movie franchise planet of the apes sees xactly anyone in humans clash with a new breed of super intelligent apes fighting for power buffer, Jacqueline Glover or university of Colorado. Bioethicists told MIT technology review, you just go to the planet of the apes immediately in the popular imagination when you do something. Like this exactly humanize them would cause harm. Where would they live the roads outside San Francisco? What would they do that? Do not create a being that this is she serious. She says do not create a being that can't have meaningful life in any context. That's an interesting way to look at it. The study saw researchers inserting human versions of this brain gene into a rhesus monkey gates. Scientists believed that the gene aids the development of the human brain the monkey's brains like those belonging to humans took longer to develop. The animals performed better in short term memory tests, and showed better reaction times than wild monkeys. But they didn't grow bigger brains than the control group. And that's what they thought might happen. The study was conducted by researchers at in China. We already have people we don't need to make. Okay. Well, if you could make them, and they could just be, you know, for what they're entertaining. No, he's entertaining. Think how much more entertaining. They would be if not only could they roller skate and smoke, but they could sing song. Now, you're now you're heading down the classic planet of the apes path. You're going to turn them into workers. And that's when they they revolt. That's that. That's I you know, I like that path better just in the mythology of the movies. I kind of like that. That idea better than the way they did it in the reboots. I mean, the reboots were really good. But the, but that idea that the monkeys became that the apes became a season observe you you need to see all of them because the classic films actually mesh with the new ones too. Because that's how the apes got smart. It's never answered in the classic one. How the apes got smart? That's true other than the humans died and the apes took over. They we didn't find out how the apes got smart. Yeah. They all work together. Planet. We can talk for hours about plenty of the game. Right. That's it. All right.
