She had a personal experience that she got worked through herself and she turned that experience into a business that helps others. Julia's the host of embrace your real. She's a former WB F F bikini pro athlete turned lifestyle and health. Mentor. You definitely want to check out on instagram. All of her contacts are in the show notes without further ado. Let's talk about reverse dieting would Julie ledbetter. Julie thank you so much for joining me today I. AM super excited to talk about this topic. Yes me too. Thank you so much for having me. I'm excited to share any sort of valuable knowledge for your audience. Will we have a lot in common but I don't even know maybe you do maybe you don't how do we connect I mean other than instagram you know I don't know. I know we follow a lot of the same people but I was just looking back and in Twenty Sixteen I actually purchased your Virtual Business Academy. Back, when we first started our business, we actually started in twenty thirteen but that was when we're really looking for like virtual online, how to like higher personal assistance and virtual assistance, and so I initially took that course and then I think from there I know we know a lot of the same people I was in the mastermind with Lewis House and a Lotta people in common in California there. So I. Yeah I love I. Just love following you on Instagram I mean that's where I really like become a fan and loved the content post and not that this is an episode about instagram but I'm always telling people if you really WanNa make your mark. Just be known for one thing for a little while, and then he can branch off and do all the things like you do such a great job of I. Just know if I'm going to see your content that it's GonNa make me feel good. It's going to help me understand my body and I just think you do such a great job of that in fact. I. Love You even talk about hair and the mental side of nutrition and the you share so much of your story. So for those people who haven't been following, you aren't familiar with your story. Tell us a little bit about your own history with Diet and exercise. Yes. So previously I mean I struggled with an eating a body image disorder for years of my life I. Can Remember even in high school struggling with it being on the cheerleading squad and just feeling the pressure of being in front of people and being that you need Graham number three that I am such a perfectionist and people pleaser I felt really out of control and a lot of areas of my life like family life and so I think I took that out on. Wanting to control my diet and wanting to control my exercise, and so really you know under eating over exercising was the name of the game for a long time of my life, and then going into college still not really knowing anything when it comes to nutrition and training, and so just doing what I saw in magazines, which was endless amounts of cardio restricting my caloric intake. and. Then from there, I met my husband after I graduated college. He really was the first person to number one as a boyfriend at the time kind of ask me honestly, if I had an eating disorder and that was the first time that someone really had bluntly asked me especially someone that you know I was dating at the time. Can I ask how do you remember your first thought when he asked that question where you defensive? Yes. Very defensive and very like why do you care this is not something that you need to know about type of pushing it off but then something inside of me was like, okay, he's actually asking from A. Place of love and it was like inside I wanted everything in me to be better because I was so like just feeling. So consumed by at all but yes, I remember having mixed feelings like this is crazy that you're asking me bluntly on our first date but this is also like total divine thing and so I felt safe in that time in you know he was one of the first people that I actually said Yeah I really struggling I don't know what to do when it comes to nutrition. I feel. So out of control in my body and I feel like I'm constantly trying to control and it's just not working in my favor and I was just exhausted mentally physically my hair would was not growing my you know my skin was constantly breaking out and I felt bloated all the time and it was just like there is things in my body that were not working properly and so I'm so grateful that he did ask that because that's what he studied in college he studied health and exercise science and sports nutrition and so. He was very, very interested in helping people in terms of nutrition and he really taught me I mean everything that I know when it comes to nutrition he taught me so much in training I was so scared of weights and only doing cardio endless amounts of cardio and restricting my caloric intake so low. So he really got me into like, okay we gotta you know that you need to start. Eating protein because on our first date I had a salad and I'm like pushing aside the carrots and chicken and he's like there is a severe problem with. So

"Special last Sunday. Also, a new one that came out today the school of greatness with Lewis house, which is I think really really good, and it goes into some things. Surprisingly, I think it was because I had three hours sleep in forty eight hours that I opened up about my dad a little bit more than I ever have. And so you might find some interesting things there some possibly some roads to healing yourself on on things. Strangely. We didn't talk about the book addicted outrage, which is kind of a point that I was therefore but anyway. Anyway. So there is a story on the blaze today and Mike is here to talk about it. Your last name Chaim doa. Okay. So we were pretty close. Mike, you are you wrote a story about the New York Times and how they have. Tried to tried to deny things and make the internet a liar. You know, it's funny with something a publication life in your times, you think they realized how the internet works internet is forever. If something has ever been on the internet. There's still a way to access it somewhere on the internet. Right. It's incredible. That they denied that was ever in the story originally was so easily provable. All right. So start with the original story. This story came out about Kavanagh's accusers. I think Monday, right right Sunday. Sunday, Sunday, the New Yorker piece, I broke with Ronan Farrow are and Jane Mayer. I think was the other person wrote it so that came out the same day, the New York Times released their first story anything admitted that they had tried. Verify the story and could not that in the process of that they've come across people who remembered the or the queues are the second accuser talking after the incident and saying that she couldn't remember if it was Cavanaugh or not. They included that same paragraph in a story on Monday following up. And then on Monday, they had edited this story and taken that part out because people started using that Republicans started using that and being like, hey, this is the New York Times not conservative publication saying that there's a chance that story might not be true. We can't verify it. There's some doubts about it. It was pretty stunning. I thought for the New York Times, very honest times to come out and say, look, we we talked to the these people that she said they said that she had talked to them and said, I'm not even sure if it was cavenaugh or not, and that's one of the reasons why the New York Times added that in this kind of some crucial information, right? It was briefly. Very good journalism. Briefly. Yes. And they were apparently shamed of that. Because I didn't wanna do good journalism anymore. So they took it out and then denied it was ever there. Well, that was the the craziest part of all this. So I'm tracking down the different things. I'm looking at the old versions of the story was substantially changed. Both know Editor's Note, saying that anything have been changed just the same old same length. And that is the that's the amazing thing about it. They always say this article has been right at the bottom. Always this article has been updated with much less substantial. Yeah. Sure. But then the the writer of the article had tweeted out that stop saying this article has been edited this has never been in there. And I'm looking at the two versions of the article that I was able to get using internet archives and going back and pulling the older version, and I see the one, and I see the other and I clearly see that it's been removed. I make sure read it a couple of times. Make sure am I missing they just break it up and put another pair ever something. No, this is clearly out, and she's still tweeting that her article that she wrote had never mentioned this thing that it clearly had it's a full paragraph. Yeah. Now has there been any response since this has been revealed and since you've put this out, and and and it's starting to go around that. Oh, wait, it's called the way back machine. Yeah. Has to be something your times knows about because I assume that they're reporters have used it to. I mean, I've used it. Dozens of times over the course of my journalistic career, which is much less of a career than the New York Times. As of now, the last I checked in your hadn't come out and admitted that they changed. It were admitted anything. Which is just I mean, it's it's it's a crazy story especially in. How clearly provable. This is this isn't something we're we're just speculating or Suming. This is I have a copy of the old one advocacy of the new one the words are clearly here clearly not here. There's no that's that's as black and white as you're ever gonna get. And what's interesting about the times is.

"Facilities Benatti succeeds where others fell lightning Panthers. Tomorrow night at six thirty on nine seventy WFL a the home of lightning climb back. I did a podcast with Lewis house. He does the number one podcast the school of greatness, fascinating fascinating conversation with this guy, really open, and honest, I really really like him. But towards the end he asked me what what is greatness? What makes greatness? And to me, it is courage. I want to play just a little bit of it this podcast just came out Lewis house and school of greatness. Here's how he answered that question. My son was probably ten he was taking karate. Taekwondo Craxi, and he didn't realize that when he was going to get his first belt there. We're going to be parents. They're they're going to be crowd. Here's my son who's grown up around me. She's terrified of crowds. Okay. Probably a good race. He's terrified across at this time. And we start walking in and he sees people as I I'm not doing this debt. I can't do this. I can't do. This is the first time. I saw my son like that. And I said, no big deal. So he feels just errands. He's like I can't do this. I said, okay. Skin the car? So we get in the car. We're driving back, and I'm thinking, how am I going to teach? He said are you mad? I said, no, I'm not I'm not I'm just trying to figure out how I can help you. Get back to the house. I'd take him into my office. And in my office. I have you have to come to my house sometimes to all over moles in the office is kind of it's layered. The the the the pictures and the things are all just layered on top of each other. Okay. And they're all people from history and moments and. You know, anywhere from one of the guys who was the guy in Vietnam that was in the Hanoi Hilton blinked his eyes to say, I've got the stuff he wrote all framed their next to Winston Churchill next to Gandhi, and Rosa Parks and all of them, and I sat there, and I'm trying to think what do I say to my son? And I look up at all these people, and I said. Why do I have all of these pictures and all of these items from history on my walls in my office? And he said 'cause they're all heroes. And I said, yeah, they are. Now, I have them. And he said because they weren't afraid. And I said, oh, son..

Seven years for for one push and I thought, oh, for the severe perpetrator, we're talking about, you got to commit yourself to really, really on here incentive, but was she eyeballing? I mean, why did she. Oh, this guy, he, I don't have it quite up there with incest, but it's it's in the same. Galaxy of luck. I can't do that. And if I could do it, it wouldn't be because I was drunk or it was a bad moment or had a weak moment. It doesn't exist and they're once they get there. However, that ability develops it's on. It's on it that way about whacking my kids just it's not. It's not an option. It's not. It's not that I'm not angry or frustrated or whatever, whatever it's just not really on the the wheel of option. Is it same thing with your mom's wheel, your energetic wheel? She had the bio rid. Is while on that wheel. Well, she had a lot of extra critical days. Yeah, they allow for violence. Well, what would happen is, is that go? Could I get a ride? Van is go to teddy Lewis house and she'd be like. Let me crack this safe. Bad news, sorry that, yeah, extra critical like shouldn't be leaving the house and I'd be like, yeah, once you leave it on extra critical. So when asked for ten speed later on the weaking hold on, let me check twirl. It just told on leave it. Glue bizarre, get a magic eight ball. So I had a fucking chance something in this God damn house. Gotten a magic eight ball, at least I'd have little in five chance of getting a ride somewhere. There'd be little humorous element to it too. Yeah. Cultural. I did love that. All right..

"So this is related to expertise. Expertise is external. It's. Seved. But this question is more about what have you actually done done. So I've run in your time bestselling book, so you've got the credibility to talk about? Yes. Yeah. You built a podcast. You talk about that. You're in shape. You could talk about that right, like you could do, and this was your problem which we need to talk to about the snow list is the more successful you become talking about lots of more stuff. There's lots of stuff to talk about, and that's why getting centered and being clear becomes the more well known you become the more important it is to be clear on this stuff so important because as your star like rises, there's just more opportunity for distraction and for dilution in terms of where you spend your time. Warren Buffett was the one who said the difference between the successful people in really successful people is that really successful people say no more than anyone else or something like that. I don't know if that was and no, we can. This is good to talk about the yes, no list because. We did this. We went through with you and Matt, and we made it. It's not a complicated exercise chart. But what are we say? Yes. To what are we say no to? It's not just what you say. Yes to what you say no to it's what are the characteristics of things you say yes to. And what are the characteristics of things you say no to, or example for example, you wanna talk about yours? Yeah, give you. Okay. There are few the. Yeah. So let's talk about the knows I because we'll talk about the yeses that we can share the dares. Yeah, I think that'd be cool for people. So one of the things we got clear on for you, is that anything that info marketers do? Yeah, generally speaking is going to be a no for you moving forward? Yes, moon -fornia because when we looked at the future of the Lewis house brand, we said, Lewis house isn't competing with the world of the info marketers, nothing wrong with the world of info marketers, brand builders group lives in that space. Right. And we follow a lot of people in that space, and we promote a lot of people in that space. But once we got clear that the podcast is the focus of your brand and that is all in for the future, then we realized, okay, you're going to not do some of the things that those folks do. And that doesn't mean not implying online marketing strategies to my business wrecked, but it's not doing what other imple- marketers are doing to be well known implementable. Yeah, ma-margaret and there's certain things. There's maybe certain tactics that you won't do right because they don't fit with just the direction brand brand, and that's okay. My job is never to make a judgment on what people decide to do or not do is just to help them get clear on going, okay, these kinds of tactics fit. These kinds don't and we had to make we're gonna make a decision based on the characteristics on our no list of what we do and don't do. Here's another diagram..
