How Economist Stephen Moore Connected With President Trump

"Did you connect with president Trump or candidate Trump? So Larry kudlow and I and laugh were interviewing all the presidents who were running all the candidates for president back in late 2015. And remember there were a lot of 16. I don't know if we were to remove all of them, but we did most of them. And Trump was one of the last ones we talked to. And how did that discussion go? First, well, what happened is he wanted to meet with Larry and myself privately. And that was Corey Lewandowski. Remember Cory was running the campaign, did a fantastic job. And we went and I didn't like Trump. I didn't I've never met him. I just didn't like him. I just thought he was kind of a blowhard of blah blah blah. And we went in and spent an hour and a half just me, Larry, and Trump. No, other people. Which I thought was interesting. Again, usually these politicians are filled with people. And I remember Larry and I'll never forget this. Larry and I walked out of that room and were like, he's going to be president. Really? That's how blown away we have. But he agreed with you. We had a great conversation. I mean, I love Trump because you can argue with the guy. Yeah. You know? You know, and it was me, and I was just so blown away by this guy. I don't know. Look, I told Trump. I don't agree with you on trade, and you know, bite back and forth, but I love the fact that he was willing to take on the conventional wisdom in Washington. And the whole drain the swamp message. That's why I won. That's right. Totally. Totally.

And <Speech_Male> to that point, <Speech_Male> he you as a <Speech_Male> goal scholar. <Speech_Male> He's more a part of <Speech_Male> an attack in unit. <Speech_Music_Male> As opposed <Speech_Music_Male> to the guy who's <Speech_Male> on the end of <Speech_Music_Male> it and putting in the net, <Speech_Male> right? And <Speech_Male> to that point, <Speech_Male> he actually sometimes <Speech_Male> will take <Speech_Male> himself out of the <Speech_Music_Male> 18 yard box <Speech_Male> for a big guy, <Speech_Music_Male> tall guy. <Speech_Music_Male> He goes <Speech_Music_Male> on to wider <Speech_Male> areas, or <Speech_Male> he drops off to <Speech_Male> the top of the 18 yard box <Speech_Male> on the ball is about to be <Speech_Music_Male> crossed. And <Speech_Music_Male> these are things that have <Speech_Male> happened over <Speech_Male> the last couple of years <Speech_Male> in La Liga that have been <Speech_Male> very noticeable. And <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> for me, <Speech_Male> that tells me <Speech_Music_Male> that the instinct <Speech_Music_Male> of scoring <Speech_Music_Male> goals is not <Speech_Music_Male> natural <Speech_Music_Male> to him. He'll <Speech_Music_Male> score a few, <Speech_Music_Male> but doesn't quite have <Speech_Music_Male> the natural <Speech_Male> ability that instinct <Speech_Male> to <Speech_Male> feel where that ball is <Speech_Male> going to be, what is it going to end <Speech_Male> up and where can I be <Speech_Male> the most dangerous? <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> Just to fill you with <Speech_Male> confidence. <SpeakerChange> Well, on the positive <Speech_Male> safe and Newcastle <Speech_Male> fans, <Speech_Male> you know, he's going to replace <Speech_Music_Male> a <Speech_Music_Male> guy in Woods <Speech_Music_Male> who's <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> just one dimensional. <Speech_Male> Yeah. So <Speech_Male> not great to that. So it's <Speech_Male> an upgrade. <Speech_Male> It's costing <Speech_Male> them 58 million <Speech_Music_Male> to upgrade. <Speech_Music_Male> But it's definitely <Speech_Music_Male> an upgrade. <Speech_Music_Male> And at the end of the day, <Speech_Music_Male> if your Newcastle, <Speech_Music_Male> then <Speech_Music_Male> that's what <Speech_Music_Male> <Advertisement> you're trying to do, <Speech_Music_Male> you're <Speech_Male> going up the steps, <Speech_Male> gradually, you're not just going <Speech_Music_Male> from zero to a <Speech_Music_Male> hundred. So <Speech_Male> it's an upgrade. <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> It's going <Speech_Male> to make them more dangerous. <Speech_Music_Male> But <Speech_Music_Male> don't think, okay, well, <Speech_Male> this guy is going to show up in <Speech_Music_Male> score 20 goals. That's <Speech_Music_Male> just not <SpeakerChange> going to happen. <Speech_Music_Male> One word. <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Male> Cavada Donna. <Speech_Female> Thanks <Speech_Female> so much for your questions. <Speech_Female> Make sure to <Speech_Music_Female> join us tomorrow <Speech_Music_Female> for more ESPN <Speech_Female> FC <Speech_Female> available 7 days. <Speech_Female> Pretty sure it's not <Speech_Music_Female> good. "Don't need much to do, but they kept on going. Scoring against goal, being happy to play together. So that's the big change that I can see. It's why I'm quite optimistic for the champers league because physically they're going to be ready and it seems to be the mentally for it. Is that a good answer for you? Absolutely, yeah. Yeah, everyone who said there is what's been lacking in my opinion and previous seasons. So let's get to the team that are the favorites then coming into this season's Champions League. It is Manchester. Oh, sorry, actually. I've actually missed another Italian team here, haven't I? Juventus have not been sparking late into their place so far from what we've seen gab but they're going to finish second, at least behind PSG here, aren't they? Well, it's fine. Go ahead and disrespect it tying club there. They've done a good job. It's just a bit of a leg ball. Don't worry about that. You're right. It's an absolute ton of negativity around you vendors right now. I wrote a whole column about this. I don't think I make these helping things right now, even though his name literally means happy people. In reality, there are anything but happy. And part of it is down to injuries, part of it is down to performances, again, a lot. I can go back to this, depends what are these games going to be played because there's an injury, a big injury question around Pogba, big and great question around Di Maria. If they're there in their fit, then they'll think they'll feel that they can handle Benfica and then they'll take their chances against Paris and your man. And if they get points off them and that's gravy and they're fine. If those guys are unavailable in the wrong games and they see the sort of performances like we saw against some daughter who, frankly, are worse than all four teams, but some dog have probably not even a conference standard team, then they're going to run into Trump. And they're going to run into trouble pretty quickly. So there's a ton of pressure on max a legally right now. And they're in a difficult position. They hope to bring in another striker before the transfer window closes. They have a deal in place with arc milik. But again, does that move the needle? You're going from maratha to milik, not really an upgrade. All right, well, let's move on to group G, which is where man city are. They are the favorites coming into this show's competition up against severe, but the Dortmund, which means highland will be getting to see his old club very soon and Copenhagen as well. Is this man city's year? They do

"And you have to prove to yourself you have to prove to your former teammates and you have to prove to the former fans. And if you don't do so, your actual fans will be disappointed and you're going to be going to be teased by the others and so you have to go through you have to win and it's not going to be an easy task for live under scheme when it's going to go back to Munich, biscotti is going to be a brood I guess I think because of what happened before him in order for him to leave. So it's not easy. He's never easy even for fantastic player Cleveland. It's a hard task to go through. Do you like the group, Stevie? By the way, we live in dolsky. He's going to love going back there in school. Really? He's got to be trying so hard. I think he'd be sitting going, I can't wait to score. Listen, the interview he did when he left. Tells you exactly how he really feels. Yeah, but there are also the one that happened. And then the week later, he goes back to pick up his draw for each of these boots or whatever. And the role Pali in the role there was jolly. Let me tell you, Lewandowski can't wait to play against Bayern Munich and stick the ball in the back of the net. Of that I can guarantee and to that point, TV, the rhetoric around Bayern Munich and the beginning of this season in the mundus league is they've played three games. The score 15 goals who needs live on dusky. We didn't need limit those key. Now we have more flexibility. Now everybody can score. Now everybody can really play up to their potential because they have more responsibility. And you're not just focusing on the one guy. That's what Bayern Munich are saying about themselves. And when you think of that and if you live on those, you're like, okay, all right. It's one thing that you want to say that you can spread the wealth around, if you will, and more guys are going to get opportunity to score. But don't suggest that you're better off not having me on the field. Don't suggest that 40 goals walking at the door is a good thing because now their players can't step up into a different position and score goals. I think there's a motivation there for a living on those key to go back to Munich and do something special against Bayern Munich. But is it going to just be as easy as that? Lewandowski score in the goals now for Barcelona and we know what happened to them last year in the Champions League. Of course, it's not going to be that easy, but in terms of storylines gay and we're only projecting what could happen. 1 may happen, what the mindset would be for a player going back to Bayern Munich. In this case, levon does goes there thinking, you know what? I was sort of pushed out the door here. I wasn't treated the way I deserve to be treated. And I don't care what level of player you are. That's still goes right deep in your heart and in your soul. And if it means something and you can use that to motivate you, you're going to do that as much as you possibly can. Well, what about Sadio Mané then? On the other side, will he be looking and wanting to prove, well, look what they are okay without him. Look what I can do. No, I don't think so. I don't think saddy O'Malley's built that way. I think saddle money will just go and want to do his job and do what he does best and that's concentrate on the game and get in positions to score goals and hopefully when the chance comes ill score them. I don't think you can look at the two players and try and compare what's going on and save their head because the chalk and cheese. LeMond 100% is after Bayern Munich. Money won't be late that. Yes, you want to score goals, but maybe they're completely different motivation. Gab, what's the thoughts on into them? We heard LA touch on them there. How do you think they're going to fare in this group? Well, look, I mean, on paper, it's obviously got a good group because you're talking about Barcelona who kind of acquired everybody in the kitchen sink this summer. And we're already trending upwards under Chavez. And obviously buying her there for all to see. But I think when you look at the individual matchups, they might say, you know what? We got a shot here. I like the idea of Lukaku running at Eric Garcia or JS Christensen with the help of this is a team that's has built up Champions League experience as a team that I think they feel that they can hold their own. So I don't think inter feel that, yeah, they may not be favorites to go through. To the level of the other two. But I think they definitely aren't going to play with fear and I think they definitely feel that they can take points off of both buying and Barcelona. There might not be favorites to go through, but do you have them going through gab? I kind of do. I kind of do because I think it would be it would be a great storyline. And like I said, over the course of the season, buying our undoubtedly a better team. Over in terms of talent, one to 11, Barcelona may well be a better team. But by the same token, there is so much that can go wrong at Barcelona. They have changed so much. I think a lot's going to depend also. And in fact, there are actually working on this right now as we speak, the calendar. I think this is one of the type of group we're really matters. What order that matches are in, who plays what when? And I think it can break into his way. So hold on. And to over Barcelona. Yeah, just for clarification, because he said, I kind of do. Does that mean that he is? At the expense of who? Barcelona? I think more likely Barcelona than buyer. Yeah. All right, Ali. Do you agree with that? Well, again, it was non committal. He said, well, more likely to be Barcelona the environment. I want an answer. That is good. If they go through, I said, so. I wasn't fully committed, but I said so. Listen, let's say that he did, let's say that he said it's buying an inter. Is that a right for you? No. Well that means Luke kaku is going to have to step. Look how cool. Right? Well, history has ego a stepping up in the Champions League. Thank you. Okay. Well, the history is always there to be made. You can change the cost of country and rely on. Opportunities. So yeah, I think I'll go with it. What we bought to grabs point, if indeed that's a matchup, if this is going to be decided on Lukaku, an Eric Garcia, then yeah, sure, take enter. Take enter. Because that's not a match of the Barcelona would love. However, I believe, with the greedy, well, I would actually agree with that if it's between those two. However, I don't think that's where it's going to be decided. I'm going to take Bayern Munich. I'm going to take Barcelona. We have to keep that we have to keep that show. To see, and we are going to love this gap if winter goes through and Barcelona is out because Lukaku is called the fantastic work

"Amazing and all this everything what I did I did because I was ready. I was able to be playing in that I was enjoyed even though I had painful because I wanted to show my fans also defense of why unit as well. I'm here to give them happiness of the winning and I always give them 100% of my heart and maybe that for some people but it was difficult to sell me and they know it that what kind of person I am even that in the press was some kind of different things about me, not exactly true. Yeah and I want to start with you because what is so sensational about this interview and what's so striking is the fact that we've seen players all the time. It's a new chapter. I want to look forward I don't want to talk about what's happened in the past. Christina set him up and it was clearly something he wanted to get off his chest. Absolutely. And we have talked about this on the show for a long time and as Robert Lewandowski that you know I rate very highly and this is a new chapter in his life going to Barcelona, but I think that in this book called Robert Lewandowski being a great success. We have to go back in a book a bit to a couple of chapters back. This is a guy who scored 41 goals beating gat Miller's record, this is the guy who went to Bayern Munich, he said he wants to extend his contract. This is a guy who saw maybe this time to end his career Bayern Munich, but at the same time, Bayern muni didn't even answer him. They didn't even answer his agent and at the same time they're starting flirting with a younger player, which is in every book, some part of the plot. So I guess we can all talk about chapters and Robert Lewandowski can say now that this doesn't annoy him, but as you rightly say, Dan, I mean, there is a way of you don't care so much you care a lot. I mean, I made that expression on myself now. I guess, but you don't understand what I'm saying. It looks like Robert Lewandowski want to get his office chest as you said. And, of course, we knew about this. We talked about this week in and week out that imagine being this guy being the superstar. I buy a Munich. At the same time, I think that is right of him to say what he's saying because a robot levandowski should never say that yes, because of a 21 year old guy for Norway, I wanted to move. He was right, maybe the biggest star of the German Bundesliga, he has the right to now join one of the biggest clubs in Europe, coming from one of the biggest as well in Bayern. So he will see forward, but still he had some dig at the back and you were beeping for fun though. It was like a cartoon, I guess. You kind of feel good for him. Yeah. Listen, I really believe that this was a situation where no one was really in the wrong. You understand Bayern Munich and their interest in Erling Haaland. But if a robot 11 doski and unless look at it from his perspective purely here, you have to be, you have to be upset with the way it kind of came together. And your own feeling that your contributions to the club have all of a sudden meant very little at that point. So you understand why he feels as strongly as he does. And I think he's absolutely right to feel that way. I know he's moved on. Give him his relationship with the club and those fans. Give him everything that he's won. Give me records that he's broken. To see that separation between himself and Bayern Munich be as acrimonious as it was in the last few weeks, you understand know why he also wants to lash out at the club, but also have his side be told for his hand to buy in France. So again, I don't give him wrong either. It kind of amazing to me that the hierarchy by a Munich are so arrogant. And it's not like this is something new. There have been like this for years. They almost, they almost give this outlook as it's about them. They are more important than the team or anybody else. And to have a guy who scored 40 goals a season, brick skeleton was record, a guy that you played with as well. And to completely ignore him whilst you're trying to bring somebody else in, it just smacks of real arrogance and thinking that, you know what, these guys should be just pleased that they're here. Right. They should be robbing over those of you should be pleased that we're looking after them. Oh, believe in those cases should be pleased. There is a buy in player. So get away. I mean, it's just incredible that the most important player you have, you treat with such disdain. It's amazing. Is that fair, Ann? Well, it's fair to say, but as Steve is saying, this is also, I mean, you can call it arrogance. I won't color arrogance. This is just the way the buyer cultures always been built. There is a history of that that they have lost player in this way. Yes, you can call it arrogance, but at the end now, I think that was time for Robert Lewandowski to make this interview. We just felt that he wanted to say that. But by and also, that is also a strength of buying. They have moved on. They have Sadio Mané. They have they got matters. Tell. So they have had a quite good transfer window. And I also think that Robert Lewandowski is yes, he is a football superstar, but he's also a human being and as Steve rightly so you just feel you get treated this way. You get to get that off. But I don't see quite honestly buying care. Because they moved on and I think in a hard way, Stevie, I don't think if you agree, but you know that for Liverpool, the king is dead long live the king. Luis, what's interesting is that he's kind of played this really well if you look at both fan bases in the sense like saying, I never wanted to leave by him, Munich, but now obviously I'm at Barcelona, and I don't feel that's the second choice for me. No, of course. And I think he's been very professional trying to keep it quiet. He never say anything to get or Bayern Munich hungry. The board of the supporters and neither the other side that he could be there in the next suppose him Barcelona supports it. So at the end, I think you've done what he has to do has to wait wait for Barcelona to make the approach. I think it felt hurt at that moment because Bayern probably wasn't giving him what he thought that he deserved sometimes and I agree. I'm not calling arrogance, but it's true that sometimes for a place where they get in board position, they forget what it is to be a footballer and they've been there and they complain about the board when they were treated the same way. I don't understand why they don't realize all they kind of get closer to the feeling of where they fell when they were football players. What is the feeling of Lewandowski in those moments? You arrive into an age that you are not in all the younger, but you still the biggest star. And I think they're going to regret in the future because when you pull out 50 million goals from your site is very difficult to bring so many players who can add those kind of 50 goals. I think you've done a great job. I think at the moment at the right moment, just open up and say, Lisa, and I'm hurt. That's the way that I feel now.

"And ice in the game, which is live on Wednesday at 7 30 eastern here on ESPN class and for more on that, Luis joins us also with the Bayern Munich team, Casey Kelly is in D.C. ahead of that friendly ahead of their pre season camp. How do you think they're feeling Casey given that they've lost their main man? Well, I mean, it is Bayern Munich in Bayern Munich find a way. I mean, they're very competent in the way they recruit to the side. They do a great job of not having to make a wholesale changes, normally the game plan is to bring in two or three main people knowing that a couple people are probably going to be excess as well. Now, to Ali's point, you lose a guy that every year is giving you 40 goals. You don't replace that with one person. So I think the idea for this Bayern Munich side is they're going to have to share the goals. It's no longer going to be just let's rely on Robert Lewandowski and then go from there. It's giving me a case where a lot of people are going to have to step up and pick up the slack. Okay, so you're going to be talking to some of the players that are later today. What in particular are you going to be discussing with them? Well, I think a lot of it is more like a history stuff with what's going on with some of the players. You know, talking to Alphonso Davies and how he's kind of made his transition from being kind of like a young kid to then becoming more integral, particularly after the injuries in the COVID stuff, talking to Kingsley come on about his role in the change of going from a younger player to now being a veteran guy and what does that role and how does that roll change? Every time an established player kind of leaves, now he becomes more of that veteran player. I'm going to have hopefully I'm going to have an opportunity to talk to Oliver Kahn and some of the issues with losing a player like Lewandowski and then how do you replace them? And then also some of the issues that just the Bundesliga has with their 50 plus one system and is that a detriment to Bayern Munich in that Champions League and maybe that's a reason why maybe their bookies percentages are a little bit lower to win because some of the other leagues in some of the other teams have a little bit more of an opportunity to spend that the Bundesliga sides don't want to be hearing those interviews over the next couple of days. Interesting stuff from nagelsmann talking about Lewandowski's departure, the Bayern managed to come out and say we have a possibility of building FC by without a striker that can reliably score 40 goals. It's an interesting task for me and my coaching staff as well as and Oliver Khan. Luis how much of a game changer is it now for nagelsmann that he hasn't got that focal point that number 9 that 40 goals a season man? I think it's a massive massive blow for Bayern Munich. They couldn't hold him anymore because he wanted to move the only way to find a play like this one is to go to the market, but I'm surprised that they are so confident because there is no easy and we've seen it when the Lionel Messi led Barcelona Real Madrid is not easy to find the act of 40 goals but only 40 goals that he scored is the amount of assist as he gets is the amount of change that he creates is his presence on the field that creates so much problem to the opponent and he's no finance. He's not

"Should start. Did you say farron Torres when we discuss this? I said Ferran Torres on the left, Lewandowski down the middle and the ballet on the right. And the reason I say Ferran Torres is because I think he would do a better job of being a second striker alongside Lewandowski if the ball is on the opposite side. But Athena is more of an outside guy and not exactly a finisher. Whereas Ferran Torres will put himself in good positions. Not always scoring the goals and scoring the opportunities, but at the very least he can close that space at the back post and be an option inside the 18 yard box. But don't you want your wingers to be crossing me into 11 doskey? Do you need a second striker Ferran Torres sort of figure? Well, if you could have rafinha one, dembele the other. We'll break somebody down down the right hand side. Now he's putting in a cross Lewandowski's making a run. You need another option. If not everybody collapses on 11 dozen, they crowd him out, you need another option. And I think Ferran Torres is a better option there than rafina would be. Gemma, front three. I'll go with Ferran Torres Lewandowski and then rafina dembele changing it depends on the game on the rival. Actually, you know, funny thing I was talking to my colleagues that are shooting the films of Barcelona. And they say that Lewandowski Obama young are talking all the time making jokes that he met each other in dormant and they have such a good relationship. Maybe the first day we have the official match starting 11, this will end up, but right now they are apparently very happy to meet each other again. Ferran Torres, chaga, I don't know. No, I like ferranti. Why though? City didn't want him. How's he? Any trees as a finisher. But my impression of Ferran Torres sitting in a Barcelona shoot is everything he does up to the box has been simply outstanding. His finishing continually lets him down. Which is why I like Ali like him on the left hand side. Being a serviceman for Lewandowski because I think that's when you've seen the best of him. Through the middle as the alternate goal scorer, I think he's left us with a lot to be desired. But as a winger, you know what you're getting. And at least rafinha, as exciting on the site as exciting as it may be, good for leads, but we haven't seen him in Barcelona shoot just yet. The other thing is, there is less pressure on Ferran Torres. To be the guy who's scoring the goals. Where he had that responsibility at times last season, that responsibility is not quite there. It's now in Lewandowski. People are focusing on those who have guys who wait to take his place now as well. And you know what else is going to happen? He's going to get a lot of tap ins at the back pose. Because everybody's going to be attracted to live on those key. And while everyone does attract that crowd, that ball is going to roll to the back pose, tap in from my kind of range and all of a sudden he's got all the confidence in the world and Barcelona flying. To that point, having a cue of players behind you can often bring out the best in some players. And that's the hope here. Listen, you play for a club like Barcelona, you play at that level, man city included. There's always going to be a queue. Regardless of regardless of your position. Unless you're a Lewandowski or Pedro agave, that's part and parcel of wearing that shit. So it's up to front to respond, no. Who have you got out on the left, dembele or a finne Luis? On the left, because I want to be in, and I think there are senior can give something different. I will have them belated. It's going to need a player like them, to put crosses. We are talking about Ferran Torres. We are talking about rafinha. We are talking about and so far the main players over Miami even for us in a play in the Y area at some point. I think that levandowski you need to provide it with crosses with a good balls in the middle. You can not have players on the white areas that are going to start making diagonals of affinity as a player. And then you're going to have a center forward, a proper and the forward without process without inside the box because everything is going to receive is going to be on his feet. And that's not something that he likes to be enthralled with two defenders in my bag and have to turn every single time. So I think it's very important that Barcelona if he wants to work. If he wants to get the best of the 11, he has to win, we cross this. I'm not talking all of them in the air, but yes, on the ground to the neapolis where he is the best on that because he so well those are spaces. The timing and time in football is the most important thing the best on that. So I think the needs to be played in one of the areas for me on the left and then leave rafinha that is on one very good and try to make the best of it. What may surprise some is that the transfer of Lewandowski hasn't actually moved the needle with regards to Barcelona's odds to win the Champions League. They still remain behind the likes of Manchester City Liverpool, okay? He can think that. But Chelsea as well are ahead of them as a Bayern Munich who just lost, of course, Lewandowski. "And we welcome back doctor Shaka here slop is here. Won't shut up about it. Player over the showcasing over here when we talk about Bayern Munich and where they go next after losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, of course he's now in the states in Miami Beach look, meeting up with his new teammates and for more on this, let's welcome into the show, shall we? Luis Garcia and Gemma soler are with us. Before we talk about Robert Lewandowski, Gemma, why are you in a cave? Because I'm on holidays. I have four days off, so it doesn't look that nice, but I'm in the Costa brava, which is one of the most beautiful places in Catalonia. I think Lewandowski should come here, even though I think he will be living in the south part in suggest which is also pretty nice. Yeah, that's the posture. That's where Luis used to live. Luis causing an ibi. We're here. Good. Right. I don't want that, Laurie. Let's talk about Robert Lewandowski. The excitement around this signing is justifiably high. It is, it is very high and I think we all need to understand it because Barcelona comes from a cherry bowl year, no title one. And actually, if you think Barcelona haven't got the shiny signing in the recent years, the probably the most excitement was about Frankie the young. Continuum, dembele, let's not talk about the result, but the most the signing with the most people had become no welcoming a player. It was as Latin Ibrahimovic, in the recent years, because Luis Suárez, he was also so great, but when he signed for Barcelona, he was in the FIFA sanction. So there was no shiny presentation. So there is a lot of excitement in the fan base that suffered a lot. This last year, and also suffered a lot playing against Bayern against Robert Lewandowski. So of course, I think we need to understand that a club that was financially financially in a very difficult moment, no one was expecting this great signing. The player himself put a lot on his side, a pressuring a lot buyer, and that's why it was possible making these signing for Barcelona. Of course, he always said he wanted to try new leaks and La Liga is one of the best links in the world and he and his family loves Barcelona lobs Majorca and these also help for making the decision to go through Barcelona. And Louis I imagine not only the fans were excited, but his new teammates are as well to have someone of that much quality coming in. Of course, we are all excited. The ones who follow Barcelona, the ones who follow La Liga, of course, is something very important, a player like him who can add a lot of goals to this Barcelona side. Of course, he brings a lot of excitement and he mentioned no long ago he wanted to play for Barcelona. He's been pushing, he was desperate to arrive, and now you can see a very committed player that probably is going to fit perfectly in this style of football for Barcelona. He's going to have players around him who are going to provide them with a lot of good balls. You got paid. And we are not going to talk about their wide area with them. So far different raffia, so many talents so much creativity to have that they have to end with him. We live on those. So everybody's very excited in the first of all, it must be chubby that it is being very quiet. It's been waiting for the moment to start dealing with this situation, but definitely it must be looking forward to start working with levandowski and of course with the amount of talent that is good at the moment in this squad. Looking forward to see if it's going to be able to bring back again the trophy that they were missed last year. Do you like the signage? I do. I mean, how can you not like the setting of Robert Lewandowski, give him everything he's done in the game, particularly the last couple of years where he just seems to be getting better even in his slightly advanced age. And listener, I think given some of that success that bassoon have been starved of over the last couple of seasons, I think there's every reason to be excited about this, incredibly talented squad, mainly needed a leader, a big shining example, and they have that in Lewandowski.

"Want to have Chelsea at that high. No, and we don't quite know, okay, if Robert Lewandowski is walking out the door and buying Munich, then who's stepping in and taking that position to score the goals, or are we saying that Sadio Mané is going to become that guy? Are we saying that Li ro sane is hanging around and is going to become that guy. Or stage cannabis is going to take on the responsibility of scoring goals for Bayern Munich. It's a big hole that rover live in those cases by Munich. I think by Munich a little too high. But it's a lot of jumps up in the list and certainly Real Madrid should be at the top of this list because mind you. Not only are they defending champions, I can make the argument that they've gotten stronger. That bring in really good makes them stronger. Make some better in the back line. That bring it into a many give some depth in the midfield, something that perhaps they didn't have as much as they would have wanted. And so you have now the idea of coming there. You have the idea of a federal birthday as an option to cross and moderate and Casimir. I think there are deeper and stronger now, but the one position that I'm concerned and Craig just mentioned it is the backup to Kareem Benzema because if he goes down injure, then everything seems to collapse for Real Madrid. And we saw it last season. When he wasn't around, this was a different team. So you need a credible player, a credible thread in that position that can at the very least rest benzene once in a while. A player that can do the job. Not somebody who's going to carry the team but they can actually do the job. And they don't have that player right now. Pause the 7th favorites, Craig? Well, Champions League. Oh, that list was bombed because trick and ignore it. I mean, Chelsea had a Real Madrid. I mean, come on. I've been what was talking about. I've lost track here. I don't know. I don't know, you know, the other concern is middle of the park. Biscuits, it's got a lot of males and those legs. Yeah. And then if the on goes and that changes by the day, who the hell knows what's going on? What is the middle of the park going to be? I know Pedro's and I know this is when he's playing he is one of the most autistic players for Barcelona. He's one of the biggest driving forces, even as a youngster, older starts will tell you that. But he stole the other players around the bottom, so the middle of the pipe would be would be a worry for me. But yeah, I don't know. And defensively as well, Ali mentioned really good good at mayor Real Madrid, that strengthening that no doubt, what a bus are doing still relying on TT still there who hasn't been found since or no. I wouldn't say so. I mean, it's a looking a little bit imbalanced at the moment. I would say Barcelona just seems to be getting me rafinha, get me 11 dogs, and if they ditch the young on javi, and then if it wants rid of them, they have to make sure they're bringing other midfielders in because I do think they could be short and that possession. You mentioned Deion contrasting statements from those at the top of Barcelona about the future of the Dutchman. Of course, heavily linked to Manchester United. "Real Madrid will champions for a reason Karen Benzema is on lately loads up form. Yeah, I mean, they've not been begging the transfer market at this moment in time, which is a bit of a consent when you've had such a successful season when in La Liga, when in the Champions League, it's a great time to really beef up the squad. Particularly a noise front positions. But no, not quite. I still think obviously real attempt to be experienced manager, players love playing from. Not the biggest squad, that's the one worry, particularly in the attacking possessions and this amazing result. So I know we're going to talk about Edna that's a pipe dream in my opinion. So yeah, back up to Benzema. I think would be ideal. Gemma Barcelona fans looking at attacking lineup, of course, they're wetting their lips looking at the prospects of all these players playing together, is it a case now for them, they have to win La Liga this season? They have to compete. They have to compete and this is something they haven't been able to do since Lionel Messi left the team and probably the previous season as well. The big the big problem with Barcelona this season is that they didn't have gold. They didn't have enough quality in the final third. They couldn't end product. Now they have to. They are forced to do that and have we need to prove something because I can promise you neither to a la porta, neither matawa man, Jordan creek, the big guys in the sport direction, they didn't want usman dembele. They said he needs to go. He has to go here to set sit in the stand and chave force them to make him stay. They bring chubby rafinha. They will be bringing Lewandowski and we'll see what happens with Obama young. What happened, of course, we done so far it's physically it's of course making us doubt a little bit, but now they have goal, so they need to manage this team to work and to make a team and at least to be able to compete. I wouldn't say that because Real Madrid. I mean, they are defending champions of La Liga, defending champions in the Champions League. And I think they have the best attack in La Liga, even though Lewandowski is joining Barcelona with Ben samadhi, Rodrigo with all these players. They have the probably one of the best midfields with Crohn's and modic and the best goalkeepers, so saying that Barcelona are forced to win a league. I wouldn't say much, but at least they have to compete until the last match days. Let's have a look at the Champions League odds. And where Barcelona stand looking to make a run and try and emulate what Real Madrid did last season. They currently sit round with a 12 extraordinary isn't it? I didn't see that. "I'm leaving because I want more emotions in my life. They didn't want to listen to me until the end. Something died inside me, and it's impossible to get over that. Even if you want to be professional, you can't make up for it. When you have been at the club for so many years, you're always ready, you're available despite the injuries and pain you gave your best. I think it would be best to find a good solution for both sides and not to look for a one sided decision. Loyalty and respect are more important than business, but they don't want to listen to me. What kind of player I want to go to buy and knowing that something like this could happen to them. I'm a bit like that. When I found out you were entered again, a little bit of midday inside everything. Yeah, exactly. That's a bit. That's a bit. This is a lot over the top, isn't it? You think so? You know, people who want to come to buy them knowing that end of the day, it did say in a contract, right? It's got one year left. So he did say that, not the sound that forum, not the grabbed his hand and saying that made him say he did it. So there's an argument from both sides. And I get it. I've been in those scenarios where something's changed and you want to leave or whatever and both parties have to play ball or buy and have to play ball. But that's a little bit over the top. A little bit Cray baby that statement from me, you know, normally when it cost people when I go buy them. Yeah, is it a perfect club ash January? He will tell you behind the scenes. One person says one thing, another person says another. Another person says, that's not ideal. But just because he's not getting at the moment what he wants, it seems to me that there's not enough paper to go around to dry his eyes. Is he in a crybaby Frank? I would say a little bit, yes, for me. Because in a way that you sign for a club, you wanted and there is a time where everybody wants you. There is another time where it's time for you to leave because you are at the end of the cycle, and you know somebody's going to replace you. The most important thing is that football are clubs, they're not players. You go, you come and go and that's part of our lives. And I was so happy to sign for Strasbourg, and I felt sometimes I had to live, and the same for Chelsea. And every club I live and know that by heart, they do that because they have to make sure there is a future of and the bright future for the club and by a manikis look is seeking for that. So I think, yeah, what it does is a little bit crying and he plays a dangerous game because as far as we know, only one club won't see him and he hasn't got the money for it. So, you know, where he's going to end up? Well, only if I think he's going to end up somewhere because he's a fantastic player. I have some question marks about this tactic. The argument is, isn't it? The fact that basically buying flirted with harland wanted to do everything to get Harlem there couldn't get it through and therefore delayed giving Lewandowski any sort of contract extension. Now it's too little too late. Yeah, it is. And just depends on what angle you come at this from. From the club's perspective, you want who is arguably the best upcoming young striker in football. He's available this summer, he's not going to be available for quite some time yet. He's putting in Germany, so you test her arm. You take that chance to see if you can get him. The problem for Bayern is that it coincided with Lewandowski's best year as an individual. Best scoring is as an individual. So now you have to balance up going after and securing your future so to speak and upsetting your player after his best season. It didn't work out with Holland and I sympathize what would Lewandowski after breaking the 40 year old record. That's not how you want to be rewarded. And you want to go somewhere that you'll be needed. Right now to Frank's point a minute ago, right now it seems that that Boston and pool position. But there are any number of clubs who would snap their hand off to get Lewandowski not just Barcelona. But surely even Lewandowski understands that Bayern hard to make an attempt to sign arguably the hottest young striker on the planet because surely he equals not that big that he doesn't realize that he's not the future long-term and that if they were able to say in a maybe then the pathway to your move would have been simpler. But surely he's got to understand. There's none of us late to see players coming in in our possession, but I think when you're in your 30s, you have to expect the club to be looking about further down the lane. This smells to me as if it could get to a stage and I have no experience and that's by the way before you mention it. As Frank said, dangerous tactics of, I'm just throwing this out there. I don't know what conversations is hard about being professional and being nice, but he could throw the baby out with the bathwater here and basically say to them. You're not getting much out of me next year. And that becomes a very, very dangerous game for the club and for nagelsmann is what can play in my keeping. How is that going faster in the dressing room? Yeah, how would it fester in the dressing room? What effect is that? You were talking about well, I don't have a no. I have absolutely no issue with if it was me playing in Frank wanted to leave Chelsea or azolla or Henry last and wanted to leave Celtic as he did after many years and went to Barcelona..

Corey Lewandowski: Michael Sussmann Will Get a Slap on the Wrist

"Must be a similar satisfaction that you're feeling right now in Robbie mook testifying Friday that it was actually Hillary who said give this phony story to the news media. Corey, give me your thoughts, give me your take. I know you're following this Michael sussman trial pretty closely. What's the Corey Lewandowski takeaway of what we've learned so far? Michael, here's the problem. Sussman is probably going to be found guilty of lying to the FBI because we have his text messages when he reached out to baker who at the time was the chief legal counsel for the FBI and said I'd like to come and see you and it's not for a client and it's not for a political campaign just as the goodness of my own heart. I want to share this information with you. We have that text message and that's what Durham predicated this whole follow-up on. Now what we're going to find out, though, because justice is not equally distributed, we know that Robbie milk has now said that Hillary Clinton green lit this, but that Robbie never knew it was going to go to the FBI. We were just going to give it to The New York Times. And what sussman told baker we now know was we think you should investigate this because The New York Times is about to run the store. And then baker actually called The New York Times and said, hey, please don't run the story yet because the FBI wants to track it down when the entire time Susan was a source to The New York Times. And so what's going to happen to sussman? My guess is, I get to slap on the wrist. Maybe he loses his law license for a year. Maybe he gets probation, but his life will get destroyed like Michael Flynn. He's not going to end up bankrupt. He's not going to be dragged in front of Congress like Corey Lewandowski was in front of Jerry Nadler.

It's 80 $90 to fill up my minivan, what do I do? Well, grandpa Joe says, don't fret. 'cause this is actually good news. And when it comes to the gas prices, we're going through an incredible transition that is taking place that God willing when it's over will be stronger in the world be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over. You see what Europe is doing relative to the importation of Russian gas. You see anyway, I won't go through it all, but and what I've been able to do to keep it from getting even worse, and it's bad. The price of gas, the prompt is something I told you heard me say before, it would be a matter of great discussion on my kitchen table when I was kid growing up. It's affecting a lot of families. I've heard the phrase tone deaf, but that isn't just tone deaf. That is bizarrely out of touch with hardworking Americans who are witnessing the complete destruction of any logic coming from The White House.

Vice president Kamala Harris, giving a speech outside the children's national hospital in Washington, D.C.. Check out these words of wisdom. Kennedy? They are a children of the community. No. No, you don't say. When you talk about the children of the community, they are the children. You know what, I'm telling you right now. She's doing this on purpose. She's not this stupid. She can not be this stupid. She's got people that write things for her. She's got people who do things on her behalf. There's no way she's this dumb. She's doing it on purpose.

"I'm correct. We dropped the old beef. It's been good. It's been the best pizza festival. How far your name was Nigel? How come you've got? This is like 9 job. Isn't it Nigel feel? Neil. All right, Nigel. Nice. Yeah, okay. Nice. There you go. Neil's Neil. Yes, it is there. Why did I have Nigel? No, I did, great. No, do you want to watch my head today but I had no idea. No, there's a major boost like a Nigel. Only Nigel lipstick. Yeah. Nigel Neil. All right. We'll Premier League fans. Stop calling. But we'll probably stand. Stop calling other leagues, farmers league. Now that city are winning titles in January and continue, he's playing like he never left. Let's worry about it. About what the fuck are people worried about? You think on the live show, I really interested. And the FIFA team or YouTube. Yeah. What this is Twitter. This is a YouTube, isn't it? Chimp thing? No, not necessarily. It's a bit different people. But. You call all the leagues farmers leagues. Yeah? Yep. Yeah, everybody's a father's league. Listen, that's absolutely wins. This is about four and 5 years. Yes. I mean it's no different from anybody else. This is really. There you are, everyone's a farmer league. For Frank, shouldn't be. It shouldn't be with feeling in the best 11. Yeah, who cares? Of course, of course, is one of the best players in the world, so it should be in the list. But as I said, you know, get the defenders out of the list. Put ten strikers, you know, left wings or right wings and I, well, you know, like that you will have Mbappé, Salah. Some others. And everybody would enjoy, you know? But sure. Ronaldo Messi, Lewandowski Harlan, who would you have in and bape your head off? Oh my God, that's difficult. Do I have to choose? That was difficult. Yes. I think it did better than Alan. Really? Okay, then erling harland. Okay. What is Nigel think? No, Nigel's gone. Nigel, if there was a World Cup final, which goalie would you start on a rumor? I know. Nice. What's that? Where's the question? Who are you starting in the World Cup final? About work I was being played tomorrow. I'd still go Manuel Neuer. Boom. There you go. Do players care about individual awards? Well, yeah. Who's that now? Do you care about individual awards? Nema does. Slightly hypocritical here. Because you are supposed to be here, yeah. Well, yeah. Which you do care about, because you totally talk about it a lot. Yeah, it's a very prestigious world that one. That's supposed to pop on the door. Craig talks about a basketball for Scotland a lot as well. I'm not sure he is too much about that. But.

"But if the World Cup was in the summer, which is not, and not saying, in that case, a major, it doesn't matter. He's going to play in the World Cup, isn't he? Regardless of what goes on at Madrid or where he is. You mentioned the picture. Dan. The picture is he's the World Cup. One second in front of playing the World Cup as a player who is probably going to be part of Real Madrid, so he's not sharp. He's not fit. Not ideal for about a Martinez. So I think it depends what mindset you want to go into your workout, which is a point because it's not to dissemble. No. But the answer equation as it depends has desire us to go and play again. Right. And I would suggest that's at the levels of having the interesting Newcastle. Frank? Yeah. I think we have to be truthful regarding what we see from azad for the past three years where it completely lost his football and his 31. And do you really think that the guy is going to come back to the business and be as good as he was when he was paying for Chelsea? I have big dots about it. And even more, I don't believe in it anymore. And I don't know if it's a good thing that it comes to Newcastle. And I don't know if it's good for Newcastle to hire somebody like an azar because I have doubts about these football and I've done that you can go back to his best. And do you think we said another dog, Newcastle is going to survive and go down? No, I don't think so. I think he lost his leadership his losses football, a 31. No, he's not going to come back. I'm sorry. It's, for me, it's all over. And I'm sad for him, but it's all over. Like Gary's bail. It's all over. It's been a nightmare for edin has that, of course, the last couple of years. A nightmare for him TT continues, Jules, after breaking a bone his foot in training today, he's going to need surgery. Of course, there was talk of him going out on loan from Barcelona as they were looking to clear their books slightly. Obviously that is definitely not happening now. And not happening the tour, it could be out for three months. Well, at least the good thing about Barcelona if you want to see the positive things is that they extended this contract before the injury. So they would have to pay him less. I mean, for longer or better at the end, but for now it's only less than what it would have been had the extension not happen at this moment in time. So that's the only thing because he, again, we talked about players earlier that doesn't make sense in the squad, while bassa, umpteen Boston and that doesn't make any sense at all. And yet he will have to stay there because of that quite bad injury quite serious injury that he just picked and that rule they are rooted in completely of any move to anyone. No one is going to take him now on loan if you can't play before April or something. Barcelona, of course, in action this week in the corporate array,.

"Dollars. Of course, he's out there as well. Joe plays a three fleet four. Well, shall take that. It's not a real game, isn't it? We're not going to put them out on a pitch and play against the next best 11. Out of this four joules, do you agree with it? I know, no, I think, okay then I'm back in the car and Benzema, no musalla in the front. Again, we would have come up all with different names and everything. To be really, really fair. I would have gone for two to 6 anyway. To the front four that they already put together, so it was a good balance there starting 11. And forget about the defenders, forget about the defender, nobody cares, you know, put 8 strikers, and everybody was gonna be very pleased about that. Well, that's what we got so bad. I must say, Robert Lewandowski really, please do it to be getting the award. I saw the picture. Yes. Yeah. Very tough. Because of his disappointment and the balling door. No, it's just a nice. I must admit, it's about this time of the day, no, that you're setting here praying that a statement comes out from man united or somebody that says Ralph rank has just been sucked. You know what I mean? But it's not. So it's FIFA team of the year. Frank. By the way, you don't ask me a question. Because I don't care what your answer will be because you are not giving me a proper answer. Hold on. I know your proper answer always gave me a nice answer that. Yours is fabulous. It gave me a nice answer. I could get me done a rumor, that's what I want to eat. Frank, Ronaldo Messi, harland, Lewandowski. How can you have no business? Oh, I didn't think you can. Joseph swayed you. You'd have been tomorrow over Harlem when you were in the mood. Yes. Yeah. Yep. That's me. I'm done. And you'd have Salah over harland. Satan over Ronaldo. Yep, that's all I ever messy. Yep. Yeah. So soundless should be there as well. I think so, yeah. Yeah. For what it's worth. Benjamin. I mean, they're just told you what it's like. These are ones. That's why that's why we pay their lip service. And some people may agree. Maybe our boss. Who knows? I don't know. I can't give this any more than the lip service it deserves. It's a pylon nonsense. "Hello and welcome into the latest edition of ESPN FC Craig Burley and Stevie nichol here with me in the studio. We'll be hearing from more of our panel later in the show ally Moreno, we'll be talking about Sergio Agüero when he faced him. We'll also be getting more Premier League chat to and lots to discuss with the weekend ahead, especially with some of the postponements over there in England, but we will start in the Bundesliga where Bayern Munich were in action on Friday night against Wolfsburg and it didn't take long for them to get on the score sheet 7 minutes. And it was the opener here from Thomas Müller. He said decent straight from, but they go, keep her husband, push their side with. He can just pop it straight out. Certainly can't pop it straight to a bayon player. 57th minute to take it to the second half and open mechano gets in on the action. He does and it was particularly in this second half K was just one way traffic. Done that right hand side. And several times done with the ball back in. From a corner with a header. Well, you mentioned zone a two minutes later. But his name on. You see, Billie, you just don't quite cut. Watch me look at the little dummy. Sonny, I'm not left peg. I mean, he's accurate and look at the pose as well. Well, 11 doves he had been denied by maybe himself earlier in the game, but in the 87th minute. Well, actually there was only before this and the keeper made a great save with his leg sweeps a little unlucky. That's when he made no mistake. So I was headed back across. I find that it finishes to buy in completely dominance in this game. Four different goal scorers as well and a clean sheet for them too. But in terms of Robert Lewandowski, well, that was his 43rd Bundesliga goal, this calendar year, breaking good Muller's record from 19 72. I actually was at the game afterwards he caught up with Alfonso Davies who spoke about 11 doses brilliant. He also had a little word with Bundesliga buying coach Julian nagelsmann too. This guy is I always say he's the best tracker in the world right now, man. No one can I right now he's on top of this game and you know he's just every day you see him in shining but yeah, you know it's just amazing to see him to have a guy like this on the pitch scoring goes for us and we want him to continue and in new years and I'm sure he will.

Potential legal challenges over late-arriving mail ballots

"With so many Americans voting by mail this year. There are concerns that ballots may not arrive on time when you have some states that don't require a postage mark on there, so we don't know when they were filled out. They don't require signature verification, and some states say they'll be counting nine or 10 days after the election, I think is the most industrialized country in the world. We can do better than that. Corey Lewandowski, a senior advisor with the Trump campaign on Fox News Sunday. As legal challenges abound, the Supreme Court has already weighed in on ballot disputes in Pennsylvania and North Carolina. At issue a three day extension for mail in ballots in Pennsylvania, something Republicans oppose Justice Samuel Alito wrote in a statement. There's simply not enough time to issue a pre election decision. In North Carolina Republicans have been fighting a nine day extension for mail in ballots. In that case, the Supreme Court allowed a lower court ruling permitting the extension to stand. The newest justice Amy Cockney. Shady Deals at Trump Properties

"President surrounds himself with criminals? His campaign chair. His deputy campaign chair is former national. Security Adviser you. You get the picture and as a rule if you're a politician that kind of thing isn't generally a great move but it does offer one surprising benefit when one of those folks turns turns on you you can point to their own shading dealings and say what anyone trust this person and as the president has defenders go after Parnasse repeating the same. You can't trust him line or I don't even know him remember. We have seen this all before with the last bag. Man Who talked about President Michel Com for about a decade Cohn was the Executive Vice President Trump Organization and Donald Trump's special counsel in September of two thousand seventeen profile of him appeared in Vanity Fair entitled. Michael Cohen would take a bullet for Donald Trump. The piece points out cones extreme loyalty to the president quote cone has been described as the sixth trump child. Or as Tom Hagen in this twisted version of the Godfather and sometimes as both Michael Cohen was the president's fixer but that relationship started to fall apart in early early twenty eighteen as news leaked out of illegal hush money payments made to women ahead of presidential election by April the FBI had redid. Cohen's office and hotel room in Hatton seizing recordings electronic devices. Initially the president was supportive of his longtime attorney. Michael lawyer who. I've always liked him respected. Most most people will flip if the government lets out of trouble sorry. I don't see Michael doing that. Despite the horrible which hunt and the dishonest media but on the day after Cohen pleaded guilty to do eight federal crimes including campaign finance violations. Implicating the president directly as an unindicted co-conspirator individual one the president trashed him quote. If anyone is looking for a good lawyer I would strongly suggest that you don't retain the services of Michael Cohen burn months later. Cohen found himself before Congress delivering a warning. I did the same thing that you're doing now. For Ten years I protected Mr Trump on for ten years and I can only warn people the more people that follow. Mr Trump as I did blindly are going to suffer the same consequences suances that I'm suffering. Michael Cohen pulled back. The curtain. On trump world in two thousand eighteen and live parnasse did that last night telling us what an absolute cesspool of conflicts flicks of interest corruption and shady characters around the President United States. We'll talk about that next today. The the FBI showed up at the home of Robert F. Hide just days after the house. Intelligence Committee released text messages. Provided by indicted Giuliani associate partners in which hide appears to be representing sending himself as actively surveilling then. US Ambassador Ukraine revanche high was told NBC News. He was drunk and unserious when he sent those tax. The question you have to ask ask yourself is how did someone like Robert. Hi gain access to the United States and the answer to that was laid out by himself told Rachel maddow how easy it is to get. Close the presents inner circle just show up at the trump international hotel in Washington DC. That's how Parnasse himself met Robert. Hi You met him where I met him at the I think the trump hotel yes trump hotel. He was a regular at the bar because it was like a breeding ground that trump hotel so it every event would be there so everybody would hang out there afterwards. Everybody all the meetings would be there. So it's basically you would see the same people every day or the same congressman that supported the president would be there and nobody else so he was a fixture on site he was always there and but he was always drunk. What you got in the stands where the trump hotel it's like one a big Cesspool and there's really hard to keep any secrets for more on that Cesspool joined by independent journalists sack efforts in the last two years staking out the trump hotel and writing up what he saw in the eleven hundred Pennsylvania newsletter and an article for Vanity Fair titled Power Tripping the swamp how trump's DC hotel swallowed Washington Zach. This is your beep deep probably more than it is anyone's beaten. I'm curious how is description. Squared with what you've been reporting over the last two years it's spot on. I mean Robert Hyde was on my radar Ariza early as April e. You look at his instagram. And they were pictures of him with the president pictures of him with the vice president all sorts of important people and for him it actually transcended ended the trump hotel. I think he was at six different trump properties. But if you want to project important you can just go hang out at the hotel and take some pictures one of the things that has struck me about about this where we are right now. The impeachment is usually it is very hard to get to the present United States and and and that's for that can be really maddening for people when you're trying to if you're working in the in the staff of the White House and you want to get the president something on his agenda. It's hard to get to him This president seems remarkably easy to get to buy all kinds of people with all kinds of agendas and it seems like his properties are the nexus of this this kind of soft corruption absolutely. I spoke to the president at the trump trump hotel. I was staying there researching one of my articles in for the cost of a nice steak dinner I was able to chat with the president which mix for really good social media posts there so if you you just you know hanging out there take your pictures with your Kevin McCarthy user Mike Pence's as they go back and forth now they're usually not upfront in the bar they're usually going back and forth from the entrance way way to private rooms but see them coming and going you can collect enough pictures and you look like you're really important and then what do you do with that really important the look like you're really important. Well well I think with Robert Heidi. He's using it to run for Congress and there are certainly some other people who are running for Congress typically Republican challengers who seem to be collecting pictures of themselves to the trump hotel. But I've seen some people move from the lobby where the lesser swamp. Thing's hang out to the back rooms and I. I don't know exactly what they're doing to get back there. But looking on social media it almost looks like that they are puffing up their importance with a lot of pictures and then all of a sudden they kind of get to be important That's interesting what. What do you mean by backrooms described it because at one point apartments talking about a private dinner with the president which I think happens there in the hotel room? What is what's the sort of distinction between the the the lobby bar in the backrooms actual important power players are so there's really two tiers if you go out in the lobby? That's where you're gonNA find you not even Fox News host but like Fox News guests are going to be hanging out there. People who really wanted to be seen in need to be seen to kind of project some sort of importance but they may not actually be that important example. Corey Lewandowski is somebody. You'll see it there rudy. Giuliani was the exception to that. But it's the back rooms. It's the trump townhouse which is where if died with dined with the president. And it's the Franklin study in the Lincoln Library where they had those private events. And that's where you'll see the mingling with special interest groups that have flown in lobbyists. Anybody can see them coming back and forth though to the main entrance which is where some of these other interactions come from and is that final question here like do like my understanding from the reporting we haven't from the disclosures that special interest groups if you're trying to get a rag changed if you're trying to get a piece of legislation like they we know that's the place to go and that's where those back room meetings happen. It can't hurt. There's absolutely no downside to booking the trump hotel now. I spoke to lobbyist obvious really early on when it was clear that hotel was going to stick around. said they're going to go there to try to influence them in response was of course they are. Why wouldn't they yeah? Search efforts in who's been covering this beaten his newsletter. Thanks a
