I remember that it was a fantastic episode. Louis oh good. Okay so re too much like i did with you. I opened my conversation with jenna. And let's say a very professional manner This is a hard hitting and intrusive question but geno. You have gray hair. I do not have any grey hairs. Occasionally i'll find one and the most recent one that i found out not too long ago and interestingly too did not grow back in its place. Lucky her braid and what. My mom used to tell me when i was little and this is around. The time car heads started to ten grief. I she said if you have gray hair and it falls off or you pluck it out. The rest of your hair is going to turn gray faster. Gosh leonie an old superstitious tailback in india. Oh that's really funny. We'll review guess. What gen told me. She told me that hair doesn't actually turn gray hough. Yes like if you have brown hair or blond hair on your head tomorrow. It's not going to be gray. It's the new hair that's coming in. That will either have pigment or not have pigment. i did not know that so. Once a hair starts grow it stays the same color.

VP Kamala Harris believes teachers must be prioritized for COVID-19 vaccinations

"We're back now with vice president. Khama harris on the battle to reopen schools. Does she agree with the. Cdc's plan and do teachers need to be vaccinated. I she spoke one on one with savannah. Guthrie let's talk about schools at. We got a lot of parents watching right now. The cdc few days ago finally put out some long awaited guidance on how schools could safely reopen. But here's the thing. They tied it directly to the rate of infection in any given community. And i'm gonna put a map up because if schools were to follow that right now. Ninety percent of the county's ninety percent of the schools would not be able to the cdc's own metric. Was it a mistake for the cdc to connect school reopening to how much infection. There isn't a community. Well let's i say this that in the last four weeks schools are opening every week more schools are opening and it is because we are supplementing. What needs to happen around the vaccinations getting into two states. But also because folks are. We're seeing progress. But what about that. Cdc guidance then that's that's the question. Well so here's the thing. What the cdc. What they have recommended are exactly that recommendations about how to reopen safely if they've been closed how to stay open if they'd been opened and so the recommendations. What again needs to happen. Around social distancing handwashing mask wearing but the point is that we all want our kids to get back to school as quickly as possible and safely as possible. The cdc has said it is not a prerequisite for teachers to be vaccinated for them to go back to school but many teachers are of going back to school. Can you reassure teachers. Who are listening right now that it is safe for them to go back to school even if they are not vaccinated if these public health measures like distancing and masks are being implemented so first of all let me just say this and the president has said it and we're all really clear. Teachers should be priority. Teachers should be a priority. I believe that twenty two states. I believe have prioritized but each is in terms of stating 'cause it's safe for them well. I think that we have to decide if we can put in place safe measures. This is why it's so important. We pass the american rescue plan. It's going to be safe for schools to reopen when we can get our schools. The infrastructure needs like helping them with their ventilation systems helping them create social distancing with with barriers. The things that are necessary to get them back opening a safe way so savannah after that interview. I understand late today. The white house clarified. That's right it's spokesperson. Said the vice president and the president agree. Vaccinations are not a requirement for teachers to return. It is the white preference that teachers get priority but that lester is up to the

Design strategies + incorporating luxury home decor on a budget with kate lester

"Of the like themes that keeps emerging on the show is this like beginner. I think designer mistake. Weird like designing and avoid like. You're at home goods and you're just kind of collecting all the things you love. And there's no like common thread or theme or story so that starting places so key It's really important to create. This is so easy now that everyone has a computer in microsoft word or i mean. If you know photoshop you can do it. But what i told people is if you're just starting out in let's say you're doing your apartment right in your on the super tight budget. We've been there by no means do am i just design fancy desire by no means that i have like five hundred dollars to do my college -partment right. What i want to do at home is starting out with your concept. Okay and then put all of the pieces that you're interested in on a concept board and get take that were with you when you're shopping and when you're at home goods and you're ready to do those stupid impulse purchases. Take that word out and be like. Is this gonna vibe with my vibe and if not put it down like i can't tell you how much did at target and homegoods ikya just on this little impulse purchases like other cushion but it can go with anything your house. You know who so. I think that will help a lot of you know that extending allow you to save up for this really special items may be utah out of your budget. You'd be surprised how few rain in those impulse purchases house saving. His moustache lightens is easier. Yes my gosh. That's so beautifully put when you say it. It sounds so obvious. But that's definitely something. I struggle with so hard told me this dog will. What am i going to do. A federal by this dog role. I it's in the air. they try. they try to say you know. Stick with your list. Stick with your concept word and then there are great finds there. You found some really great things that were with my. I try to stay true to that. Naccache excited put everything your car. I love that so much so we talked a little bit about finding like some examples of info pieces like the flower or the photo. What are some of your favorite places that you draw inspiration from is kind of like all over the place or do you of go to things that really deeply inspire you know. Of course. let's be really honest and frank. Kerr pinterest is though. It's great so i will say that if you're on your this first few hundred pages of pinterest. It's the same stuff right so if you're different you're going to have to do a deep dive so we like to say is find that you know chair. They love or find that whatever it is. Maybe you're really intimate century right. And you figure out the name of a charity like deep dive into that and then that will take you to other really interesting rooms and you'll get away from the disorder sort of stuff. You're seeing everywhere so good if you're willing to sit down into a deep dive. I like to olds. Who books like books real hard. You know find a designer or topic. You're interested if you want farmhouse than you know. Do some searching on amazon worse. Farmhouse designed books. You can get great inspiration from those pages that you know. A lot of that stuff is not on pinterest. So you're knocking not everywhere. I did a lot of inspiration. From austin is what the color palettes that are happening. How close structured is everything floral and saucers everything sharp edges. And how they feel about that and is gonna translate into if i hit more curved items or you know i think you start to develop your style when you're pulling things because people don't realize that they have their own patterns that emerge and with our clients do a pinterest board for us. They'll say we'll do. I need to tell you what i like in each picture. And i know 'cause i can tell if it's repeating throughout what you're picking so. I think that happens with with regular people to start picking me compile. Tear things out. Taxings things up. And you'll start to see a pattern and then you can kind of narrow it down from there right. I feel like part of your job as a designer. Obviously like did these beautiful spaces but there's another level of like really kind of like helping your clients figure out who they are style wise. And that's something. I feel like that when you can do that artfully like. That's when you get the coolest spaces. What does that process. look like. You mentioned the pincher sport but is that where you start or there's a consultation like what is that. Look like when we you know. Most of our artists are really large-scale right. So we're starting with these people when maybe they're buying a dirt lot and we're having to design their home from the ground up right and then we're not only designing interiors. Were signing all the finishes fixtures and then all the furnishings so the first thing like to do is save them from themselves right because we're giving them everything they're asking for the help that they need for right so the first thing we do. Is we through these. These pinterest boards. We asked them to pull some images. Maybe ten twenty images. It's really all we need. We start to see a pattern of what they like. And from there we say. How can we take this and make it cool. It's not a cool right having to take this push their boundaries. How can we take their level to wholeness and make it a level head right if we see that there it into brass. How do we rain that in. Say okay will. This house has to have longevity. What ross isn't trending in six years right. How do we incorporate those things that we see. They're gravitating toward in in a way. That will live with them for a long time. So a lotta times. it's really just pushing their boundaries. And saying you know. I see that you posted. A couple of pieces of contemporary are either boring but how these bright suit. Our job is to take them right. The edge of where they would say. I never would pick back but i actually love that. That's what you wanna tried. Do to yourself. If you're at home right. You know i do. I love this. I know everyone has this chair. But i found this chair. His kind of weird ways hungry woman. So you know. How can you get outside that that box of trends and really do something.

"The thing part is it's fine makes you feel good the music's playing and you singing. That's one and it goes. It goes well with the comedy. I think you know. A lot of comedy variety shows would have comic and then a singer and they do tend to work well together but lester. You're one of the few professionals that pull off both comedy and singing so brilliantly bragging. When working with motown i still watch. It made me feel made me feel real Willie i know. You're still in the room does we. Don't speak here. you're both there so did did the watching those guys kinda help train you as well as lester. Yes it's it was fun to do the fun things about singing music. Music is like Like let's see rachel was very charles. Ninetieth birthday anniversary is in september. Twenty third and it was like we did a a video a tribute to him on on his website celebrating his ninetieth birthday on that in that particular. Little thing that we did we talked about his songs and songs made you feel good. It makes you feel sad and it and it made you. You know it and that's the same kind of thing with music music and be You know put particular song can make you feel make you jump up and down and dance and another one can make the to sit down and think about what happened yesteryear. What happened that. you know. Years before music connects with people's emotions. And that's why So many people like to sing and enjoy singing. And what's interesting is that you were a very talented are very talented singer. But you are a tremendous stand comic I know lester you had some great jokes in those days. The punchline and he used to he was straight man. I was the guy that did remember you being funnier than willie. That's good will i. I had one more question for leicester. If you've got a minute leicester back back in one thousand nine hundred eighty five you me and willie work together on a fox forty tv special a one hour show and we had you and willie as the host of that show. We had some very big names. Like dave clear and dana carvey on that show but what was interesting. Lester is i let you drive my pink cadillac as part of the opening of this show. Have you done a lot of driving. That was that was first. I and last time. Well it you can see why it's my last time i got to tell you. We do have all that on tape and it was really exciting in a little scary for me as the owner leicester i gotta be honest. Have you driving my car. But i was the big car. Yeah that was. That was a big pink convertible. It was an amazing car bed. You did a great job driving it and even though it was a little little sketchy you're a little heavy on the break There was no damage. And i just want to say thank you but i did. I was able to stop though. Oh yeah oh yeah you did in fact if you remember you kind of fun forward and willie had to save you. Yeah got right in front of the club almost late. that's why we'll say It was a real honor having you and willie as emc of that show. It was our first of three tv shows. We did too short series. One for abc nbc. But it was the fox one hour special having you is the professional. Mc really added some validity in in style in class to that first production. So thank you. That was a fun night. You don't we really like that club because this idea you know. The club was downstate. Well it's sort of hard to explain but it's down. It was downstairs basement. Level rate shows at the shows. Biden to nominate Samantha Power to lead foreign aid agency

"Lester Munson We learned moments ago from what I think is the most important signal from the nation Biden administration that they will take John Fitzgerald Kennedy's U. S aid program. Which has been a political football for 50 60 years, and they will restructure it and elevate it to a white House position was Samantha Power. What is President elect Biden signaling Well for the folks who follow foreign assistance issues and soft power and, uh, these kind of more obscure aspects of American diplomacy. It's terrific news that the power is ISA Force. She's an intellectual powerhouse. I'm not saying she's right about every single issue, but she's dynamic. She's interesting. She's going to bring a lot of energy and verve to what has been frankly, a sleepy agency in the U. S government. I think it's a huge opportunity for President Biden. Trump's Georgia Phone Call Leaves Allies Fearful for American Democracy

"President will campaign in georgia tonight as some of his allies. Tell nbc news. They are worried that phone call could depress republican turnout and even harm america's democracy. Lester kristen welker at the white house this evening. thanks tonight. Some house democrats are asking the fbi to investigate. The president's called of georgia official. The question is did it. Break the law pete. Williams has been reporting on this. What do we know lester. Most legal experts say it would be very hard to bring a federal or state criminal case. Federal law makes it a crime to knowingly and willfully attempt to deprive the residents of a state of fair election keyword knowingly a prosecutor would have to prove that the president knew that he lost the election and that meet might be difficult since he seems to think he won. A georgia state law makes it a crime to import tune that is to urge someone to commit election fraud. And there's no knowing requirement the local prosecutor in georgia would need more though than just the phone call possibly including testimony from others in the white house. And that might be hard to get.

It's behind me like that all the like distress stress of it the work of it it's all behind me. I. Don't have to take any of this home. You know like it's just it's simple. It's just it's done whereas now it is like yeah work. Work is it's like you're never really off the clock if you're supposed to be a creative person that's constantly coming up with new ways to. Make money to her yeah people. Make the set the world on fire with your incredible ideas? Yeah. Yeah no I under I understand that. But I just. I think it will you tell to you know like the problem that I would have with that although now I'm older now but like it was just it was too there are two. Welcome. To White, it was two straight. It was to like religious it was Republican. These things that you know I needed you know I you know. I WanNa life with you know. Black people and gay people and Jewish people and you know fucking Weirdos and I all kinds of different people in it and just kind in a small town. You SORTA get what you get and they said Oh. Yeah. Absolutely. I'll say this all that is true. I think that. It's hard to say because like I think that while those things existed there, of course, they were very minimal but I always managed to find like like at that used bookstore I worked at like I always managed to find the Weirdo. I always found the thugs I always found the gay people a guy always managed to. So even though I wasn't a small town I always there was. I've always managed to find enough that I didn't feel like I was going crazy. The reason I moved was those like there's just no industry here and kept trying to in Atlanta. There's this thing. There's this mentality that anything you WANNA. Do you can make happen in Atlanta and I was like I don't WanNa be that person I don't want to be the person who's like Just here and his either trying, and it never happens or that just like I never left you I have to. I do have to experience the world and like to be honest I don't love travelling. At this at the very least I can do this like you know I gave myself a plan. Like we'll see if it works and like you know, did it work on my timeline? No, but it did work eventually. Was it all always stand up was always kind of like you thought I WANNA be a stand up comedian or all like it was a wake I. It's yes. But also like things dipped out of being a standup, right like 'cause I fourteen thirteen or fourteen like I'm going to be a standup comic, and then like somehow convince when I was fifteen I bet Isaiah. "Issue data. That brings a woman to Jack's right not healthy if you're into transpired might be or mental abuse. But it's something it could be something very dark. You don't want someone is running from something and they get lost in a forest and then they happen upon a cabin with a guy that's just been living thereby of so. The Metaphor is Jack's is the man in the cabin and the woman was running from a tragedy and the woods brought her ex. Wow you're getting into dark. I Know Jack's saying you know when you did that. Strange monologue where he was like. I'm sorry I'm just going through stuff like I just I just you know I eat a ton and then I gained thirty pounds and then I gotta just take it off of that all okay. That's his journey his cycle. It's like you know this about me. All clicked into place like ocean adderall. Head and adults is one of the darkest drugs there is. Yeah it makes you so angry. It makes them even more depressed. I and I'm not talking about like if you actually need it. Something strikes me about Jackson doing for weight loss. And like He. It's just Buckingham Up. Yeah we'll also he but he did it in a way. That lay exonerates himself. That I really don't like but he also did the thing where he was about to cry and then didn't and I was like. Oh He's a monster. He knew he knew he was at his breaking point and still was like but I'm good and I was like. Oh Rooney's trouble. She's in real trouble. She's in trouble and they're right. Whoever said it like now that the weddings over like Jackson's going to descend into just madness of not being center of attention? And he's going well. I think he got her pregnant to get her. Then the center of attention like it's all going to be about the year leading up to her baby and like all that and then the real trouble begins as you throw a baby into that marriage the most stressful thing possible. It will hell. It truly feels like I could be wrong. It truly a child coming into that relationship would being like having one parent who like you totally get at the other parent literally can't speak your language like they truly don't speak eighty you'd have no commonalities like it feels like? Britney when she has a baby let me also she seems like an empathetic kind of normal as normal as you can be a message. Huge gaping wound. Yes right but Jax like it would be like an alien crash landing in your liver with being like I'm your dad. I feel so bad for that trial and like they're just going to be raised around with like to Paris like oh this feather. Tattoo means infinity. My God there all ugly the little British DJ Guy Dow. I'm attracted to have teams. You are Oh yeah you are. You're kidding he's not dead there is I okay. Here's because at this point. I just need to talk about everyone looks. He looks like if the mold broke of Mr Potato head and like it came out as like a brick but the years state. Like he's just this mess of organs that is somehow stumbling through. He is Disgusting Casey. He is disgusting and then like he's dating wait. Who's his cow? A COW Raquel. Who Lake apparently just had a lobotomy. At some point leg ever something there. I think it's always been it was. It was scared he was like Oh. Dj Again. I got so.

"One comment behind me because like I'm taking walks with my kids and I just yelled to these like again shoe chemo. Power Walkers no mass nor were they taking pains to avoid my son and I actually and I just yelled making my five year old. Wear one you can. Yes yes confide girl wants to wear us. It's all entitlement. My daughter has literally said she would rather not like. I'm like Oh why don't you go outside? We'll do this thing. Be Put a mask on. She's like no stay in an you know what a great I fully yelled at a family. Like because here's here's what happened and you don't value was actually yelling at the dad but the kids were there like. I wasn't screaming at the kid. Yes there's two very elderly people with walkers on the sidewalk the tennis balls all of it. You know what I made like. They were all Yeah pick up speed on that flows. They're wearing masks and they're trying their hardest to get wherever they're going clearly. This family is just very lottie. Da No mask around the neck. It looked as if they didn't even understand the concept. That people were wearing masks out in the world. They were just like on a beach day and they've fully just like they. They like go around the elderly family but like split around them so they kind of the old people. Golden Corral then. They started walking towards me because I had seen the because they were in front of me and so as they started getting close to me I was like. Put Your fucking mass. Don't like those people are the ones that are in danger and then it becomes like A. We weren't trying to like. I don't care like yeah. The chances of this happening are very high. Like it doesn't matter that you'll be fine. I just don't understand the concept of like you wear this one thing. Someone probably won't die like it just seems so easy to me well. Where was the family trying to complement the old? An Anthony Hopkins or those Wilson Tennis Balls. We love those for Walker is insane like and people on next door my neighborhood. They are going crazy and I am laughing at the comments. You boy next door is having a WII super bowl. Someone was writing. It's not wrong but it was so insane. He was unhinged but he's like just now if you're walking without a mask that you're committing manslaughter.

"The thing and I get it too like I. You know. I've talked to my mom about it and my friends about it like the idea of this happening like six years ago it would have killed me truly. I just had no money. There was nothing that I could have done to say my life I would have had been out in the world working. I feel very blessed very fortunate because there's so much a religious being able to stay home. Yes loo- it absolutely. That's a fucking privilege if you can you ask to? Actually that's another reason. Why if you can stay home you should stay at. But that's the issue. Was that like the people that absolutely can feel as if their rights are being infringed upon because they have a certain level of success or a you know a station in life that tells them that accessibility to everything at all. Times is what what defines them and the fact that they don't have that anymore it really makes them freak out anyway lack of control. It's so fucked I. I'll say this this is so pitiful and will automatically like kind of retract. Everything I've said already the other and walking the dog a masked up but like you know I think if you cover mouth nose covered you can still kind of tell who I am. This Guy Yasser less as a standard. Yes is this is one of the sources everybody can tell that. People have been recognizing you from black Monday when you're near Here's the thing it's a reverse of what I'm usually covering the top of my head and now I'm always like this puzzle to be put together. Sorry Okay what are you saying? I'm walking mask on walking the dog. There's do just like it's eight thirty in the morning he's shredded bear Ling towards me. We go moving off the sidewalk. And I'm just like the socks so I'm about the standoff. Like moved to the side and he goes. You're Yasser Lester. I love your work and.
