"LeBron James is returned, didn't stop the Lakers from falling to the bulls one 18 one O 8. James scored a team high 19 points off the bench after missing a month with a sore right foot. But a couple drives in the ball got away from me, a couple of shots didn't feel as good as before, obviously, but I was out for four weeks. So between that and the wind, you know, those things back. "Said was, oh, black people don't have to be Democrats. And they were like, ah. Like a whole world just crumbled and they were like, how dare she say something? It's the simple truth that drives them the most crazy. It's because they live in abstractions. They can't actually ever say something that the plumber, the electrician, the police officer, the firefighter, the person that didn't go to Harvard, can understand. They have to say, well, you know, according to postmodern theory and the book by Herbert marcuse like, actually, you're a racist and a bigot because Charlie, this is not a joke. You guys can check with not even gonna believe me, but I promise you this is real. So apparently, if you have an organized pantry or a clean home, you're racist. This is a real thing. It's a real thing now. And I have a very organized pantry. I have a very like my pantry is hotter than your pantry. I am so proud of it. It took me basically two months to organize my pantry. And then I found out on because of professor, professor from Loyola university, wrote an article explaining that actually if you aspire to organize your closets, it's because you are inherently racist and you don't understand that these social contracts. I mean, how much school do you have to have to be that stupid?

Happily, we have allies. Japan is doubling their defense spending. Taiwan is obviously very concerned and we're trying to arm them up get to deterrence and there they need as quickly as possible. And of course we still have problems in South Korea. Because of what's going on in the north and you continuing tests that Kim Jong-un is carrying out. So congressman, you are now chair. You're the guy on defense appropriations and pretty much the full committee will accept what you come forward with. Are you going to remedy the gap? I mean, we have a huge navy gap, a huge navy gap with China. Are you going to help remedy it? Oh, absolutely. I met with the CNO yesterday at McGill day. We were going through that, as you know, we're down to 296 ships. Unfortunately, the navy is asking the fund 9 ships and proposing to decommission 11. It's pretty hard to get our ship numbers above 300 if we decommissioning more ships than we're building.

And it's really not anything bad. It's just old. And I think the nicknames at this point are just old. And I'm not sure they're all that effective, and I'm not sure you should be out there calling Ron DeSantis a pedophile or suggesting he is one unless you've got some concrete evidence, otherwise the Democrats are going to jump on that and perception becomes reality. Pro-labor? Biden aims to prove it with unionized 2024 staff
"When president Joe Biden announces his expected reelection campaign, political allies say he'll be the first president to run a reelection campaign with a staff represented by a union. Biden likes to say he's the most pro union president in U.S. history and running a reelection campaign with a unionized staff would allow Biden to further demonstrate to his base just how deep his pro labor convictions are. There have been presidential candidates with unionized campaign staffs, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Julian Castro had unionized campaign staffs in 2020, and Biden's campaign unionized after clinching the democratic nomination that year. This time Biden's campaign will unionize earlier in the process. Biden is expected to announce a reelection campaign as soon as next month. Donna water Washington

How to Be a Prayer Warrior for Your Children
"It's vital that we bring our children and their hearts to Jesus. Absolutely. I mean, that's the number one thing, I think, on a parent's heart and mind, right? I know that's true for gene and I, our boys are in their early 20s. We want them to have a fervent faith. Sometimes we're scratching our head. Are they there? They assure us that they know the lord, and that's good. But you always want to see more, right? It's just natural for a parent to want to see a vibrant faith and we're going to talk today about those young adults who may not be expressing that. We call them prodigals from time to time and their behavior suggests that maybe they're not close to the lord. So I'm excited that we're going to cover that topic today because many, many parents are going through difficulties with their adult children. And we hear so much heartache and grief from parents, and we're so glad our counseling team can talk to them and guide and certainly if you're there, give us a call. Our number is 800 a family. Well, doctor Irwin lutzer is pastor emeritus at moody church in Chicago. He was the senior pastor there for over 36 years. He's written a number of books, and one of those that is the basis for our conversation today is called a practical guide for praying parents. Get a copy from us here at the ministry, the details are in the show notes. Doctor lutzer, welcome back to focus. It's so good to have you. I'm so glad to be back and to have this exciting topic because no matter where I go the great burden on the hearts of parents is wayward children. Yeah. And we're going to be talking about how I believe we should pray for them and how transforming it was for me to understand a new way of praying, but we'll get into that. Well, you know, so often we as parents would carry so many burdens, you know? And there's a lot of things tugging at our children's heart, especially if they're in public schools, the things that are exposed to, it could be a daunting task to live in this modern world and be raising kids that have so much exposure to things that, you know, just two decades ago, kids didn't see. Social media pornography. You had to go find pornography. Now it finds you. Being a pastor for 36 years, it's nothing new under the sun, right? You were experiencing these kinds of things, maybe different, but children that weren't doing well with the lord. You know, one of the things that we did at moody church which I looked back upon with a great deal of joy is we designated a month that was a month in January and we called it pops, parents of prodigals, and we prayed for prodigals. Now we doubled our prayer meeting.

Biden approval dips near lowest point: AP-NORC poll

How the Fed "Went Broke" by Lyn Alden
"How the fed went broke. By Lynn Alden. The U.S. Federal Reserve is now operating at a financial loss and is months away from having negative tangible equity for the first time in modern history. This article explores how we got here and to what extent any of this matters for savers and investors. Commercial bank assets and liabilities. A commercial bank has a considerable amount of both assets and liabilities. In order to remain solvent, the asset side must exceed the liability side, and they have various regulations placed on them to try to keep them as solvent as possible. For a typical bank, their liabilities mainly consist of deposits. Individuals or businesses deposit money at the bank, and those deposits in various forms, checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposits, and so forth, are considered liabilities, or IOUs for the bank, and assets for the depositors. This serves as the source of financing for banks. They're basically borrowing from depositors at very low rates. On the other side of the ledger, bank assets consist of various loans, securities, and cash that they hold at their Central Bank. The loans insecurities can include mortgage loans, business loans, personal loans, credit card loans, various treasury securities and other more complex securities. To use Bank of America as an example, they have $3.051 trillion in assets, and $2.778 trillion in liabilities. As of the end of 2022. Their assets exceed their liabilities, meaning they have positive shareholder equity. Even when we factor out some intangible items, mainly referring to their $69 billion in goodwill, their equity is still positive. And importantly, Bank of America's assets generate a much higher average yield than their liabilities, so they have positive interest income. They pay a small amount of interest income to their depositors and collect way more interest income on their various assets.

What's Wrong With Gavin Newsom?
"Gavin Newsom is an absolute disaster when it comes to California. I was sitting there thinking, listen, Gavin Newsom is going to challenge Biden. He's going to be the guy most likely, you know, God forbid of Michelle Obama or somebody pops up on the scene, but I don't really foresee that leaving all of her income and all that kind of stuff behind. Is Gavin Newsom still looking towards The White House? It's really seems hard to fathom. Given how disastrous he is, but maybe people don't understand how disastrous this guy has been. I think they don't. And the press just completely plays along with it. And sadly, even our conservative press over the last month or so, I was basically screaming my head off about something happening here in California. We all know he took off to Mexico when we had these snowstorms about what God ignored was that there was this mountain community outside of Los Angeles, big bear Lake arrowhead area San Bernardino mountains, 21 days these people were snowed in under 12 feet of snow. They normally get maybe 6 feet in a winter. So they have some equipment, but not for 12 feet that fall within 7 days. And people were snowed in. Even when they got the main roads, plowed up there, but then within the communities they couldn't get around. I talked to people who were trying to do relief flights out there like helicopter flights of supplies because grocery stores roofs valid so they couldn't get the supplies from there. And the sheriff wouldn't let them land because it was a disaster zone and they weren't government helicopters, but the government wasn't doing anything. Why? Because San Bernardino county voted to study seceding from California and didn't forget it.

"Has a fantastic new book out Certainly every parent grandparent should get it Parents of the world unite have a save our schools from the left's radical agenda Since this really started and you got involved in this and has it gotten better or worse over the last few months Well you know I think it really depends on the state you live in and I think it depends on the elected officials you have I mean one of the things that I've been encouraged to see is you know some of these states passing laws banning these surgeries for children states passing school choice you know really making progress that you haven't seen in the education realm in a while And I credit that to the parents out there that have been pushing back really for the past three years I mean certainly the left has been at it for decades and three years is it going to fix the damage that they've done But it's certainly a good start and this book really chronicles how we were able to really shine a light in loudoun county public schools which ultimately had an impact in the Virginia gubernatorial race And I think you know shown a light for the rest of the country on how they can push back on their own schools and I've been encouraged to see parents taking up that mantle everywhere in the country

"Very sure of himself. He believes he beat Trump once. He could beat him again. He could be anyone else. And he believes that if he just keeps promoting these policies, as I said, some of that legislation I mentioned was very popular. He can indeed win. Will this have to see as we've talked about what other factors are in play? Yeah, and some of those other factors, of course, as you were mentioning Wendy, it's the legislation happening in Congress. We had a really effective Congress over the past two years getting a lot of work done. I wonder if you can give me some context on what happens to Congress right before a presidential election. Do we historically always see key issues becoming sort of a political football that can be used heading into the next election or do we ever see some good movement on legislation heading into the presidential? I think it really depends what the partisan makeup is of the Congress and I don't think before the presidential election you're going to see a lot of compromise or movement because the election is coming up and because you have a Republican House and a democratic Senate. They're just going to be pushing each other to stop the worst and things on either side. Also, I should going back to Joe Biden for a minute. One thing I should mention is Joe Biden's age. He will be 82 in 2024. And that would mean he would be 86 by the time his second term was over. That is by far the oldest president. He would be the oldest president in American history. And I'm not an assurance agent, but I think the actuarial table show that's a pretty that's a pretty advanced age for a president. And I think voters, despite the economy and all the things we've been talking about, may also want to take a look at that. May also take a look at that. Every day he does break the record for oldest president in the United States. I wonder Wendy if you can give me a look ahead to Congress next session. What are going to be the most pressing issues when we see Congress get back to work next week? Well, I think first you're going to see the House Republicans start on a bit of a revenge revenge tour. They want to investigate Hunter Biden. They want to investigate Afghanistan. They want to investigate the immigration problems. There may be some legislation on immigration, but as I said, whether they can compromise and find something will be very uncertain right now. But I think at first we're going to see the launching of a number of investigations, which will stymie any of the issues. I do think though they want to aid to Ukraine is going to be a big continuing issue. There are some on the right Flank of the Republican Party who say it's time to cut from Vladimir zelensky off. And stop spending all this money that should be staying here at home. But over the Christmas break, he came to Washington. He gave this impassioned speech. And I think he won over a lot of hearts and minds. And Biden is intensely supportive. Yeah, and we're going to be hearing a little bit more from that zelensky speech later in our show. Wendy, thank you so much for joining. Please don't work for the rest of the night and the rest of the year. Thank you so much. Really appreciate your insights always. Let's head over to our panel for some more insight on everything we just talked about. We've got less than months in principle at government relations firm BGR group and former staff director of the Senate foreign relations committee, and we've got Lincoln Mitchell, political analyst and lecturer at the school of international and public affairs at Columbia University, guys. Thank you so much for joining us. I want to pick up on one thing that Wendy just mentioned was investigations. Ahead of the red wave, there was a lot of talk about an impeachment of Biden. Lester, I wonder if you can give me some insight on whether or not you think that's going to continue to get pursued as we head into 2023. I don't think so. There's definitely going to be a caucus on the far right or in kind of a populist wing. However you want to characterize it among House Republicans that's going to want to do that. If Kevin McCarthy is smart, he's going to he's going to keep that in the background as much as possible. That's just not even a starter with most American voters. I think it would be a huge mistake. Yeah, it feels like the type of thing that has definitely gotten pushed to the back burner of folks mind particularly as we face this immigration question. And of course, inflation, as we've been talking about, I want to go to you here Lincoln because I was covering the desantis campaign in Florida and of course he did really well flipping democratic strongholds like Miami, but I just didn't see anywhere near Trump level turnout to those desantis rallies. I wonder if that matters heading into 2024? Do you think that makes an impact and how are you thinking about the Republicans heading into the presidential? Well, Ron DeSantis has gotten an extraordinary amount of good press after basically winning essentially

Robin of course cognizant of last season when they didn't stop and we always talked to worry about. You know the plaza stuff. Today was the message getting law and obviously they rebounded superbly. Well also do ado. Put this in that category of lost one game rodman city if it's not great performance unless totally capable of you said if they'd be winning this game you know to city really fancy the the tough road by maybe don't do again did last year. i think. Even though it's really. I just think sometimes you can get a better sense of wh- squad feeling like how they might look for the rest of the season. This is a little bit of indicators early one but at indicates man city and make if i go out there and blow ciccio lessons at your way with our full yet and like while the students it is still got tremendous quality and some people of favorites to win the title. And and maybe brought so. But i just think it's an interesting game this this this weekend's full of them yet not just With city the continual story going to be the full nine weather. You know my phrase and robin on the my favorite word is a juror but this chelsea team they show that your ability in the liverpool game as you said they said they. He had to suffer a little bit with the work. They had to do to secure that point i've seen him play expensive and creighton. School goals win games. I've seen them play counterattack. In another likud gives them a whole different range of ways to hurt their opponents. Which is going to be crucial going forward and also just on the bigger picture of chelsea rob is something like if you think about it you think about momentum and just spirit i mean you think about from the day took over like that. There was a sense of excitement. Of course league form went from average took really really great. They going incredible. Run the champions league final and win it against most people's prediction. Now go into some window. They bring in a massive sum. Kaku that bringing satellite as well. It's like they are there on the crest of a of a wave like liverpool were a few seasons ago where they they didn't win the title but they were like they got really close and then they were in the champions league. It's like building to a crescendo. it's all pointing in the desire of dr of of that time chelsea to the primitive s. y. winston to win the permanent. And i think it's quite strong. And i think when when you're in a situation what you feel something i'm sure we've had it in all different levels of the game when you something that you feel something special happening is real on. It's just gives expert of momentum for the place that just of belief and the energy that dow point to a game to get it done. I've just feel chelsea a write in a nice spot in terms of the squad in terms of the covering sums of youth and experience and an a manager. That's fired up rosa sleeves up. Drives the team forward Yeah light light. What they're doing so far only three games. In of course in this going to be in a some some peaks and troughs through the way they start as as i as most people feel pretty strong absolutely and just got the senate say fails to me doing good Of somebody can control of everything. We got one more big one Be full allen. Road is leads take on level again. We wish we sold liverpool trying to break down a chelsea not able to do it leads team. Who's not quite hit willful john. James is a huge boost. Talk about him possibly thoughts in in this game. It's going to be interesting chelsea humane with one side and jack harrison the other side you know he's alive. Madonna jammed up slowly gets a position when jack housing committee side robin plays one of. Those middleton. maki's played. It wasn't my pet donges. You might be doing about central driver. I think kato the deployment that that paul of the racist on the believe that it is up to your clock to of insist on the highest standards rope because that's what made them great for years ago Low season through different reasons. "less than month" Discussed on GSMC Football Podcast
"In alternate helmets right now. For the upcoming biggest. Nfl season ever. But it's gonna be interesting to see how they do this now. Just go to show that. I get to thinking which were some of the greatest alternate uniforms of all time and which were some of the most hideous uniforms of all time in the nfl. I'm just going off. Tampa bay buccaneers those orange. Those creamsicle helmets. Those were one of the most ugly uniforms in the league. Like i'm still thinking about the first time. I saw that on video. Go look up on youtube and go look up tampa bay orange and honestly uk's you might wanna throw it. Is there one of the most horrendous looking uniforms. I've ever seen another horrendous uniform. That i'm looking at. I'm begging of the green bay packers. Oh god i had go look at those green bay packer forms. Those bright blue helmets those that eighty blue jersey with the yellow dot in the middle of what kind of jerseys that that is horrible. That is a horrible looking jersey and don't even even started about the the fricken pittsburgh steelers alternate jerseys. Were there basically like a rub. Rugby club where they have the stripes. All across the jersey is like. Don't get me started on. How ugly those jerseys are now a clean jersey that i like simple clean. Classic look alike. The falcons jerseys. And the falcons helmet with do the red and the black falcon on the side. That's clean. I like the new york giants helmick where they see. The giants logo just spelled out on both sides in the classic blue and white striped. And you can't go wrong with the classic nineteen eighty-four forty nine hundred classic red jerseys. All those are just amazing. And it's going to be interesting to see who brings back their jerseys from previous glory. But you know you think about it when you're looking at jerseys and you're looking at nfl you shouldn't care about the jerseys. You say oh who has the best jerseys in the league Thinking maybe the baby blue charger jerseys from the san diego chargers jays to the los angeles. Today's and you know thinking you millette their jerseys a great but goldwyn me a game goin' mia frick game. And don't tell me how great your jerseys i don't care about the jerseys. I don't care about the ultimate color jersey other cooled look at their visually appealing. But no one else had visually appearing. Go win me a fricking football game. If you're the chargers. I don't care about your blue jerseys all i care as an nfl fan and as an nfl fanatic is if you're going to win meet games. That's all fans care about. Are you gonna win. They could care less about the jerseys and it's interesting to see that us. Nfl fans we. We are so in tuned with. Oh what's legs breaking information. Oh we need this. I need that. I could care less about this information. This information should not be breaking news. The information that should be breaking news is where these teams are going to play. Or who's going to play on. These teams are words. Aaron rodgers gonna go or where these people are going to play not the jerseys in itself. Not the judge. Not the throwback uniforms yet to great little storyline. But we're all gonna forget about it in the next upcoming year when the twenty twenty one season but gant just don't even get me started with it but do what you're going to do on the field. Give me a win. And how are you going to be productive on the field. I could care less about the jerseys. Speaking of the actual production on the field. We're about a month away from training camp. Actually starting and people actually reporting for training camp in. It's crazy to me that it's almost people it's crazy to me. That were a month away from physical training camp in fiscal. Nfl football being played and with training camping just a month away and team starting to toward in less than month. I got to wondering who the best players on the actual feeling who's the best players in the nfl. And i got to looking at pro. Football focus top fifty best players in the nfl right now now it's interesting to see different people's perspectives and different people's lists and this is a great conversation starter and a great barstool starter to talk about when it comes to the. Nfl comes to talking in june. Who are the best fifty players in the league right now. They had some you know. They had their usual names. Aaron donald patrick mahomes lamar jackson travis. Kelsey all these names who are big time names. Aaron rodgers tom brady and it's really interesting to see how they conveyed their list of top fifty players the aaron donald number one. Now it's interesting to see that in a offensive in an offense of waited game right now in a pro offense game you having defensive end as the best player in your game in nearly right now. They said no matter how good you think donald is. You're probably under selling it. And honestly i agree with them. The los angeles rams have a superstar in aaron donald. Now he's not the most he not the biggest tallest. He doesn't look like that guy who you think at defensive defensive tackle would look like but man he's the baddest man on the field when it comes to the defensive side of the ball and he's the baddest man on the field in the nfl according to the pro football focus. Now i didn't know this but he led the league in total precious last season with ninety eight. That's the third time. In four seasons he led that category in the league. now he's the full-time interior defender we've ever seen in the league. And he honestly might be the best defender. We've ever seen all time in nfl history. I thi this huge compliment. I'm about to give him. He can play in any era. It's it's really interesting to see that comparing amazon. Oh what one guy would do. In this era one guy would do in that era. It's really hard to do that. Entirely unfair to compare errors. Because we've seen that these guys and we've seen the league changed over the years. The league in the nfl in the nineteen eighty s his way. Different than the nfl right now in twenty twenty one and honestly. There's not a lot of guys in this league right now who would be dominant in different areas. You don't see guys in twenty twenty one plane like they do in nineteen seventy s or the nineteen eighties or the nineties or the sixties. But this guy. Aaron donald he could play he could play any era ashes. How good he is. He's the biggest. Perceived weakness is the run game for this guy but he has no weaknesses because he's great in all aspects of the game and he's just a dominant force he's the baddest man to step on the football field. When it comes to the defensive lineman right now. So i can see why they put aaron donald the number one player out of a top fifty players in the nfl and he deserves it. He gets recognition from everybody. Around the league higgins recognition from his teammates from opposing players. And that's really big people would tell you what you're like..
