"It to him the hang on the wall of my house right now. Yeah. It's huge huge. Thank you. It's in your house. To go into to go into the police squad series a little bit because that was kind of the first when you were making it. I mean, the landscape was so much different. Did you think because now, you know, you make something, you know, in your head that it could be seen forever? But at the time there was no on demand. There was a streaming. They were even just TV shows weren't even that accessible unless it was recorded some way with Betamax. But this probably even before that how does it feel now to to watch it without thinking that it was made for everyone in the world to see at all throughout time. Why I haven't watched it in a long time. I mean, it's when I watch a lot of the old stuff. It's I mean, it's nice to see. But I always see the mistakes that we could have done that better. We know why do we make why are we trying to make that jump? But there's some great great runs in in that that pilot episode of police squad that we still like we we actually watched it on tour. Bus those second tour, I had the DVD and I bought it. And we were driving. A scene where Leslie Nielsen comes into visit the woman whose husband had been murdered. And he says we could have we would have come sewer sooner. But your husband wasn't dead. Better than I did. Would we use wild? When considered one of the best jokes written right written? And that who you guys do better than I was in Nielsen breaks into an office the skies as a locksmith, and he doesn't know that the the bad guys at his desk for the big I turned around and goes. Who are you when hell the hell did he get in here? I'm a locksmith and Malek Smith perfect. We will watch that joke. It's on you to just over and over and over sh. We try to get it in the show as much as we can. We've never found a situation where works we always like put I think one of the focus groups you made your professional locksmith. Yeah. But we just can't get it in its you really have to watch Leslie Nielsen's delivery might be the best leery of a joke ever. It's so unbelievable. You have a favorite joke in of course, your entire career one joke. That's your favorite. You know, what I think I always think of one it's when Leslie Nielsen in airplane is. Some turbulence in the cabin..

"Here bears too. The thing that I think, oh, there's the dumb and dumber where when Harry met, Lloyd. I this is completely different aspect of the topic. But I do think there are certain franchises that rest on certain talent. And the naked gun movies. There is no one you could make those movies with other than Leslie Nielsen in the role Frank J Simpson. The third one wasn't as good, and it was missing a little bit of that it running magic it. So there was also there was also a period of time in the middle to nineties too early to thousands where you could not make a good movie at all. Nineties two like early two thousands. You just couldn't make. Lord of the rings came out. No, okay. So. They're actually here. Here's one thing. I will say this. I did think of the one prequel where I did like it. I'll probably I don't think should go into full detail on it. But fargo. Yeah. Movie got a TV show, and it it didn't have to add no right to do this. But it it loops it self into the Fargo universe or whatever. And it's so minor. And it was so good Virgo. The TV show is amazing. Fantastic seasons. I thought were great. The second a little iffy on the third by still do better. I just think. Yes. But that's TV again that TV sometimes that's where the medium belongs. There's another story. Tell I also think like Lee said though, there's an offshore factor. There's definitely have like a talent factor. And sometimes it's cyclical so like you won't get James Cameron agreeing to make termeer three because he's over that shit, and he wants to do other things. But if someone else raises their hand and said, I love to do it. They're the wrong job. Because they're they're not going to do it. Very well, it's that means they're director for higher. But if you give it like ten twelve years and someone says all do it. It's because they were a fan were influenced by that property, and they haven't actual good idea. Again, why does Michael bay make like six transformers movies? He has ego issues. I think he honestly believe and I've never spoken to him before in my life. But honestly believe he hates the idea of someone else doing it for him. Because that I think he feels like that emasculate saying I told us this is James, Bruce before musher if you're in the room, but I said my problem with Michael Bay's every time it makes a movie his first question is what would the president think about this? Respect. And I think that's why Bumblebee works. Well, because it's such a small scale never once when Mr President there is a a Bumblebee out there, and he goes calling the airforce honestly that was one of the reasons why I didn't those one of the moments I didn't like dark. Knight rises, Mr President. We need a bomb Gotham city's like fucking White House out of it like keep it to the characters. Don't we don't need to go to Washington to find out this stuff. They should should've called a with tiny tiny Lister the criminal from the the boat. The cross. The president got a bomb the city. What do you think we should do like on the phone in prison? Let them live. He's the president from the fulfilment. Let me ask you a question, Adam. When when you're looking at a sexy, man, what is the first thing that you see when you look at them, Chris Hemsworth, well there and his sexy hair. Oh, yeah. Oh, absolutely. So there is a problem out there within our age and their hair. And losing it sixty six percent of men in their thirties. Start losing your hairline slowly starting steep backwards. Like mine, I see my luscious locks during the slip back. Honestly it scares me. A bit one of the problems with loss is that. Once you start to notice it. It's too late. The thing is is that it's far easier to keep the hair you already have than to replace the hair you've lost..

"And that led to those guys getting a deal from film studio and they made airplane then in the eighties. They made the naked gun with Leslie Nielsen, which became a huge movie growing up in the sixties also meant that experimenting with drugs was part of these comedians life experiences which often made it into their acts in particular to Chicano guys from east LA made it essential part of their sketches teaching Sean or really sort of the first marijuana themed movie. They started on stage teaching Chong kind of became a phenomenon because they as comedians decided to perform where musicians performed musicians like to smoke pot. So the fact that there were comedians doing. Cereal about marijuana kind of like turn them into a phenomenon. The kind of did little mini sketches to man sketches when teaching Chong made their move to film in nineteen seventy eight up in smoke. They found that jokes about we'd worked for more than just musicians. It's the type of comedy that appeals primarily to what Hollywood studios would probably consider the most important demographic like a male demographic between sixteen and thirty like Cheech and Chong broken lizard has never been shy about the fact that smoking weed is part of their process. You wanna know why pulled you over? Littering officer that that's not ours. Littering and littering and mentoring and littering and. Littering and smoke in the Reefer. All right. So that's what led up to broken lizard success. But what's happened since comedy doesn't stand still? And a lot has changed since the early two thousands one of the things Jay says made super trouper. So successful in the first place is how people watched it together communal viewing makes film and TV its own kind of language the way, I look at us. Like we watched the Brady bunch and welcome back. Kotter seinfeld. Friends, whatever we all watched it, we all then communicated through it but much like easing up on censorship..

"So there are some episodes of tales from the crypt. When I go back and watch them now that I'm like, oh, I had no idea for instance. I had no idea that was Tim curry playing female character. Because clearly the first time I watched it. It was too scrambled for me to tell. Well in that episode. That's kind of mercy. But wow, it's amazing. The things people would will put up with in the search for for a story that they're into, you know, like the idea I always think it's funny that, you know, people watch like theater bootleg videos, like somebody will record a movie with a camcorder inside a theater and people will watch that. Yeah. This kind of look terrible. But I don't I mean people you they're hungry for it. They want that movie. And I guess you were like that too watching through through all the static and weird color variations. Yeah. That was how you got to watch it. Yeah. So today's episode for longtime listeners to your mind. This is essentially the same concept is the three creepy pasta Assode z- that I did with Christian where we would pick creepy pasta stories and sort of squeeze the science out of them. And I have to say we squeezed all the science out of creepy pasta. I don't think there's there's much left. So this feels like the next logical place to start squeezing hollering Thala. Jeez. Well, I'd say let's get right into our first selection of the day. All right. My selection here for first one is a question of fear. And this is this is one of my favorite episodes of rod Serling night gallery his horror anthology series that ran from nineteen sixty nine through nineteen Seventy-three. "Maybe it's hard to know how seriously to take that code at the end of deadpool two because then you have to wonder it's like okay if you really goes back because they're back to life did the things that we saw just happen in a way this movie can be dangerously close to like zucker style comedy this is almost like not another superhero movie at certain times i'm thinking especially if the whole x force secrets with the first x force that could like leslie nielsen could be in that scene straight man and everybody who joins up with him you know like like nordberg inevitably like gets like stuck under a bus and dragged all the way to detroit like that's what that scene is but like get pull really wants to have its heartfelt moments too and i think it mostly gets away with it but it's hard there are times when it's hard to know how seriously to take this movie because it's so intent on breaking the fourth wall and winky at everything yeah it's interesting in terms of the frigging for the first answer has to be to some degree yes right because her point is to serve as a plot vice but it's interesting in that often with frigging the idea is that the person who killed i guess the person who killed her he has to get revenge on or it makes the villain extra bad and that's sort of how it's position at the beginning but then the movie really more becomes about grief and about how he's supposed to move past it so in in that interesting sense there's a twist on it but i guess the ultimate argument that would try to redeem the movie is that she's not the only female character i guess like in that frigging often takes place in the context of her being the only character female character in the story so i'm not saying that it's it's an utterly enlightened in woke thing for the movie to do ryan reynolds is not the most woke guy in the world i think and i think this is a movie that's largely about people cleaning to one another in a way that that i think.
