Names in the podcast world. Like jill schlesinger from jill on money rhett and link of your biscuits and many more defined more participating. Podcasts searched for dell technology. Small business pod prince on the odyssey app spotify or apple podcasts at the end of this episode great rant lots of subtle and some unsubtle jabs at the nba will say that lots of your your example to me was basically like. Let's let's have. The clippers lakers play six times a year. You know it loses its its luster to a degree. Let me ask you a question about the nba as a foreigner who really only going to the nba. When i met. Jj when i met jj crop. Li got all in. And i went to clippers games even to philadelphia a couple of times to see you i. I'm proper in where when you're playing. I watch but i'm also not. It's not in blood like you can tell like football is everything to me. Basketball's like it's good. I'll watch it. It's great i don't get it. You plan entire season hop three quarters of a season. You are playing for a league position of who. You're going to play in the playoffs. That is fundamentally at its core slightly a waste of time. I'm wrong like you could lose a game tomorrow. It was above your fans that the mavericks fans aren't going to walk around upset because there's another game in two days and it doesn't really affect your position at the season. It's all about the players the season it's all about the players english football from the first minute of the season in august to the last minute. And may you are playing for three points or one point and it's li- for that and it's europe opponents not europe it's relegation is promotion and that means everything wins something whereas i've seen finds leaving the stadiums and often it's like well we gotta be in the trial or we throw a season you know who who potentially sometimes losing games on poverty. We were talking about for your bed like some of the teams without naming names. Jj the mavericks are playing now. Do not want to win. I don't wanna win. Bed is better off. If they don't win. That would never happen in english football but never have. There was a game the other day on english football wherever the team in six. That was the team meetings accommodated. It's teaming like fifth or six desperately trying to get to force. They qualify for europe and there was a team in seventeen if they lose their down a division all of next year. This was the most exciting game of football. You're ever going to find versus a game. V versus seventeenth box office in the nba. I'm watching a game. I'm like well. They're going to be in the playoffs. They're going to be these guys in the class. What's the point of his. And that's what the owners would trying to some. Just bumming jj out. I'm having an existential crisis right now about the last fifteen years of my life. What was the point of all of it ben. What was going. I i was i was. I said this to ben last week when we talked about this. But it is interesting to me. When this whole discussion about the play in game or potentially doing like a mid season tournament Similar to like maybe like the fa cup in in england like our league is trying to figure out ways to be more like european football whereas like this group of owners did the exact opposite so it was just. It's a weird sort of just juxtaposition. Yeah and their argument is no no. We want affecting the domestic game. We're only talking about europe. That's naive because the domestic game is all about who qualifies europe. And who gets relegated but i would say one thing ben in response to the thing about what we're talking about teams losing on purpose. People are going to respond to incentives. And if there's no consequences in place i e relegation and the incentive is you could potentially get a better draft pick since. Then yeah this behavior is going to continue. But it's built your league. And i don't mean to come on a polk costas so because i get the nba. I love it. I sometimes struggle with it. Because it feels like it's a it's a league to league built for the onus and it's a league built for business and all americans sports though that's not just the the nfl's the same way i'll get. That's not britain. it's not football. Football is definitely money. Don't get me wrong this huge money. That's in the game but ultimately it's built by the fines and it's for the fans and we don't have a choice if these foreigners are gonna come and by off football crops we get it but don't try and change our game. You can't do that. That's not allowed. I was gonna ask you. Do you think that the american owners not to specifically call them out but because they're used to moving american teams moving cities with no repercussions from anybody. No no protests in the streets league not only in certain cases. Leagues actually encouraging. It and helping them do it. Do you think they were. They were naive a little bit in terms of like. Oh we think we can just do this and this happens in the us all the time and even though people in specific cd might be upset about it. There's really no way of stopping it. And they were not ready for like the what what it means to the people like you know. They weren't ready for it and some of them have their phone numbers and they definitely weren't ready for the tax but that's for another day. I think they thought that naively. I think they thought some supporters would be excited by the idea of us always being in europe. Whereas i wanna be in competition that i deserve to be in the right to ban rather than one that i've just been given because my owner is friendly with the other owners. That's the first thing. And the second thing is i think that they were thinking about the international audience they were thinking about. Cbs and how. Cbs would love real madrid vs arsenal every week. But actually have cbs but real real madrid and also it didn't mean a thing because it's nothing like that no one cares about and you plan them six times a year. Then actually they wouldn't have been the market there. You can't take over a sport where people care passionately about. Remove the passion and expect people still to care so yeah. I think they were naive and look. There's many great things about the nba. Many great great things about the nba. So this isn't me knocking the nba. Just saying two different sports bill on two very different foundations and to try and put one into the other is a square peg in around hope. i think that's all very fair. I think that's very fair Ben this has been awesome. Thank you for the time. Thank you for talking about your career. Full well the last year all the things you're passionate about We really appreciate it. I i've loved being. And i and i have to say i do think i wanted to say one thing before we go and i'm sorry if i've rambled on about leslie moonves and grammy's and civil leagues but hey listen you got me on a good night constant talking but i think it's i think he's done such a great job with this podcast podcast. I genuinely do it. Keeps me occupied an amused and entertained and informed. And i think the pair of you is the new kellyanne ryan it really is. It's it's a magnificent parent. I lead to see you both. Thank you for having me. It's always wonderful to see fritzy. But hey thanks so much for listening to our conversation. "Welcome back to the bench, Shapiro show. So Joe Biden In his inauguration speech, he listed off a bunch of crises, some rational crises like over 19, or the economic situation and some or about how America is systemically racist and also how white supremacy is a real crisis facing the United States. Well, I think the white supremacists are evil, but by white supremacy. I don't think he just means the KKK in neo Nazis. So what is he talking about? Exactly The cry for racial justice. What is the racial justice? He's calling for the answer, of course. Is that he is calling for a new government run regime. That sees any inequality as inequity and sees any inequality as systemic in nature that if black people earn less than white people, that is definitely attributable to a system and that means that the system of the United States Must be changed and rights must be violated. Individual rights must be violated Your economic rights of freedom of association, right your contractual rights. All of those have been violated by the federal government. But here's the thing When Joe Biden says white supremacy, he doesn't actually mean members of the KKK. He doesn't actually mean members of white supremacist groups he means broadly written with the left has been claiming what you promise he means, which is Any element of conservatism is white supremacy. If you voted for Trump, it's because of white supremacy. If you believe that the government should not be a fundamental part of your life, it's because of white supremacy. White supremacy is anything and everything that opposes the left agenda, according to the left, Right. That's why they've been using the term white supremacy because they completely ran out of steam with the term racist. It was throwing around so much that lost all meaning. So now they've moved over into white supremacy. Now, normally, white supremacy means is that you believe is the term would suggest that white people are superior to other people write their supreme white supremacy. But not a lot of Americans actually believe that because it's dumb, and it's ridiculous. So instead, white supremacy has been expanded to include virtually everyone you don't like. Everyone is a white supremacist. This is where things start to get really die seats. Why definitions of words matter? Here is an example of what the left means. When they say white supremacy they don't actually in white supremacy. They just mean you disagree. And this is why. When Joe Biden says he's going to target white supremacy and the rise of white supremacy, unless he's very clear that what he means by the rise of white supremacy is the rise of actual Nazi groups. The rise of the KKK. The kind of people the FBI arrested a white supremacist for planning to murder me and my family. Not a couple of years ago, right? Not a fan. Terrible, terrible people. I don't think that's what the left means. Here's the evidence is not what they mean. So Karen Atta over the Washington Post who is a truly egregiously bad columnist. Every single column is basically the same. It's all about how America is. It's time to hold ourselves accountable, she says in his inaugural address by and spoke about a rising political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism that we must confront and we will defeat. Laudable frankness about the threat of white supremacy surprise me, but I wish I could share his confidence about confronting and defeating it. She says. Since the capital siege of January, 6th federal and local officials have been scrambling to fortify Washington and its institutions against the threat of white supremacy and violence. But one national institution remains painfully vulnerable. The mainstream media Breaches to our fourth estate came long before January. 6th. Of course. From the moment Trump entered the 2016 race. Our media ushered all this through the door under the ages of balance, and presenting both sides is Karen at U of The Washington Post. I have imagined that I would say Biden scans on white supremacy is more progressive than the media's, But here we are. It took quite blood being spilled an elite lawmakers being threatened for other sectors to confront the need to forcefully guard against extremism. In the wake of the Capitol Insurrection, which left five dead corporations pulled support from GOP politicians who supported the assault. Okay. No GOP politicians supported the assault zero. You can't name them. Seriously. If you can name them, they should be prosecuted because that is a crime. Several capital officials resigned to Twitter kick to Trump Office platform. Apple and Google removed parlor, which has increasingly become a haven for extremism from their APP stores. But, says Karen Nancy, here's work, It's really good. The media still seems unwilling or unable to reform itself. There's been no major efforts as an industry to systemically to systematically examine the role we played in America's journey to the brink. Just this week, The New York Times devoted a podcast episode to the feelings of Trump supporters. See if you if you actually ask about what Trump supporters are feeling, you're devoting time to white supremacy. Barely a week after the siege. So in the spirit of CBS chairman's Leslie Moonves, his mercenary 2016 assessment of Trump's campaign that it may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS has so little been learned. Media coddling of those who attack racial and religious minorities, not mistress making it is willful moral malpractice. I'm reminded that in this country, white people once gathered to watch the public lynching of black people and even made souvenir postcards of the event. "That with Joe Biden let's go back to cut ten from the bite in press conference go right ahead we believe in freedom of religion that's why end of the Muslim man we believe in free speech that's all in the gag rule the global gag dreads money from getting and NGOs we would talk about family planning we believe in the power of free press that's well return immediately the daily press briefings in the White House the state department and the defense department now that's not particularly tough since they work hand in glove since it is the Pretoria guard Democrat party media so big deal but trump actually provides the media more access to him then Obama ever did and then Biden ever did even now Biden's been deal is is under the control of handlers because he's such a more they want to stick to a script trump has no script he has no script it's remarkable and he'll go out before it gets on the helicopter or whatever it is in a car and he will go up to the press and he will talk to them the reason he doesn't have a formal press conference anymore is because it Jim Acosta because the cost was dip disrupting these these press conferences and the ability to actually have press interaction with the present the United States president says okay I'll go to the press rather than the press come into the into the so called a press conference room I'll deal with that way so they've had more access to him than they ever had to open a member bomb I would go for it for ever without a president when he did maybe get three questions because he would purposely filibuster and lecture and calm the sent you learn nothing from an Obama press conference any was never interrupted never he treated with respect unlike trump who's never treated with respect and never has been by this so called free press so I just wanted to underscore the point as a Biden slurs his way through another speech they're not for freedom of religion there is no Muslim ban tell why they're not for freedom of speech they barely ever talk about the activities going on on our college campuses among other places I'd love nothing more than a gag talk radio in the gag the fox news channel it's a funny thing we hear on and on and on and I pointed out of my book on and on and on trump's attack on the press and there's many points to be made about that which I make and yet when they attacked the fox news channel the people who attacked the fox news channel I never ever said to be anti press I never ever said to be like dictators because that's okay because fox is the one place that does not throw in with the rest of the media now some other hosts do and certainly some other guests do but as it but as an institution it doesn't let's get back to the substance story there is something that has been bother naming many things obviously but from a prosecutorial perspective where was the state prosecutor where was the state prosecutor you know this Palm Beach community I don't live in the Palm Beach community but this Palm Beach community is a very tight knit community very liberal very Democrat very rich it's like the Hollywood in the east coast they like their expensive cars they're expensive homes are expensive clothes the expensive restaurants that's fine by me because they don't like it if the rest of us achieve that level but you know you understand and certainly not everybody in Palm Beach but it's overwhelmingly liberal overwhelmingly Democrat and everybody seems to know everybody their politicians are Democrat their media Democrat the prosecutors their state attorneys Democrats as was this state prosecutor Democrats I don't pretend to know all the facts we just don't know all the facts we know this guy I've seen is a disgusting sub human that much we know but when I say we don't know all the facts what I don't understand is why the state prosecutor was so passive why would the state prosecutor be so passive are the media going to dig into this and I can ask him are they gonna drag him out of mothballs and dust them off and introduce them to the American people I understand the pursuing a custom do is you will I can't stop them anyway not that I should I'm not a special pleader for the guy but I'd like to know more about the state prosecutor what's his explanation now he's challenging across the store that's fine but I want to know about him about his office about their recommendations about his dealings with abstain and abstains lawyer I don't know a damn thing about any of that do you why not even the media trying to turn this into a Republican thing with the cost that they're trying to drag drop in here it's disgusting if the cost of what it costs to did was wrong and I'm no great fan of his or what he did let me just say that up front then he goes and I'm sure and I don't know for a fact but I'm sure the president feels the same way presents a man of integrity but why is there almost no focus on the state prosecutor since Checking in on the broadcast TV upfronts in the age of streaming

"I'm Kim masters. And this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me as Matt Bellamy of the Hollywood reporter, and Matt the affronts, or in New York have been going on in New York. This is when advertisers are presented with various networks fall programming. It's, it's such an artifact in a way, you know, I used to go every year, it used to be this huge deal. What are the new shows? What are they going to be? And I'm not the only reporter I've seen on Twitter other reporters who cover TV talking about how now it just feels so so much like the certainly the broadcast networks, fall schedules are, are just this kind of diminished thing, obviously, the ratings have been drifting, drifting downward, there's still a ton of money that changes hands as a result of these presentations. But the nature of the presentations, was really different this year. Yeah. I mean you look at what Disney did they had a two hour presentation. And ABC was the very last almost an afterthought at the end. I mean these have essentially become brand plugs for these various channels network streaming services where everybody comes together in New York. And it's just a show essentially of what these content offerings are. And it's the time where all of these companies are desperately trying to create streaming services that people will pay for subscription based streaming services, and they kind of put that all aside for this week long presentation to add buyers where they say, no, no, no, what we really care about, is this twenty billion dollar ad business that they know is gigantic, but that is not the future of television. Yeah, I mean, the Disney one in particular was apparently so overwhelming. I thought that our colleague, Dan, Steinberg wrote a really hilarious. Article comparing it to a buffet at the golden chorale. Which I've never been to the golden corral for a buffet. But there were such there was so much presentation about ESPN and this and that and Disney. Plus I, you know, I think people felt like this kind of fog in a way coming out of it, because how do you even sort through it? And, and I have to say, I am looking at the cancellation of shows on various networks. I didn't even know where on in the first place. So, yes, the model is definitely changing, but the ad market is still there. It's not all doom and gloom people made a joke. You know, this is networks, circling, the drain, or writing the Titanic or pick your metaphor. But this is still a twenty billion dollar business. It is still the numbers are either flat or slightly going up because in this environment where there is so much brand pollution online with these digital networks YouTube. You don't know if you're at is going to run next to Nazi propaganda or inappropriate content. You have in television, a very safe environment still and people are willing to pay. For that. And increasingly they're paying more for that audience, because you can't find it. Elsewhere, even at diminished levels, there was some other news that came out of this, you know, Disney in the middle of it said, we are basically taking control of Hulu Comcast, eventually selling us their stake. It's a complicated deal. But going forward, Disney is running Hulu and that creates another place where Disney will stream content. And there was also kind of apparently attempts breakfast. You know, CBS has long had this bacon and egg breakfast is always one of the highlights of the up fronts, and Leslie Moonves used to come in chat up the reporters every year in the reporters always liked it because he was very personable and people had no idea of the kind of behavior. He had been alleged to have engaged in this year. Kelly, call took over, you know, he was a longtime person who has set the schedule in his now part of setting the, you know, picking up shows, and, you know, there were questions about bull, which is this show where the star, Michael Weatherly was alleged to have harassed? One of his female, his female co-star allies, a dish coup. She ended up being written out of the show. He asked about that. Kelly, call basically said, we think that Michael Weatherly learned from this experience, and I guess it got kind of tense on. I can understand why, you know, Steven Spielberg's Amblin has dropped it's up. It's piece of the show wants nothing to do with it at this point. You know, and you sort of say, okay, he learned a lesson. But meanwhile, she was still written out of the show and CBS. This comes with the culture at CBS that has seen repeated problems. The message to other stars on CBS if you're abusive all you have to do is apologize. We'll move on. Yeah. That seems a little bit lagging behind where we thought we were with the times up movement. Thank you, Matt, thank you. That's Matt Bellamy editorial director of the Hollywood reporter he joins me this Monday at one thirty on the business. I'm Kim masters. Abigail Disney calls out Disney CEO Robert Iger's astounding pay

"I'm Kim masters, and this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me as Matt Bellany of the Hollywood reporter, and Matt I think some people at the Walt Disney company in the upper echelons or having a breakdown Abigail Disney whose grandfather was Walt Disney's brother ROY has written an editorial following some earlier tweets calling out Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger, four his astounding pay. He made sixty five million dollars in two thousand eighteen she points out that's one thousand four hundred and twenty four times the median pay of Disney worker, not the bottom rung the median pay. And you know, she is making a point that that is a bad, look, right, and immediacy ios have famously been paid much higher than their peers in the last couple of decades for many years, Leslie Moonves at CBS was the highest paid CEO corporate America this year. I'm betting David zaslov at discovery will likely be the highest paid CEO in America despite their stock. Doc, not doing so hot lately, but Disney is different. And it is a public facing company. Unlike any other has a relationship with people who go to the parks who see the movies who have a strong affinity for the brand. So the fact that Bob Eiger is making so much more money than the rank and file at Disney. Does mean something in does resonate. And we're seeing that in the media right now. Yeah, it's a Sarah symbol of income inequality. I'm old enough to remember. When begets father ROY who was waltz nephew led an insurrection against management at Disney and ended up ousting Michael Eisner, and you'd never seen anything like the magic of Disney name in that context. Mom and pop shareholders old people young people came to this shareholder meeting because they were fed up. Roy Disney had made the argument that you know, Michael Eisner had wreck the Disney magic. Now. This kind of a dark twist Disney hasn't really responded to this and Abigail. Disney tweeted yesterday. That she was getting some signals that Disney was looking for dirt on her. And I will note that Disney in the past banned the LA times for a period of time for reporting on its tax arrangements with Anaheim, which was a wild overreaction and would not stand. They came after the Hollywood reporter when we reported on John Lasseter claiming that we had four were forced to publish a correction, which did not happen as we pointed out in our story. This tends to be a little a little reactive in these situations. And they've put out some stats that show that they have raised the minimum wage at the parks, and they're doing things to lift up some of the lower level employees. But the point that Abigail Disney is making is that it's not just idir if the upper echelon executives at Disney were to forego some of their extremely high bonuses they could provide significantly meaningful compensation for the lower level at the company, and they just benefited from this. Massive tax decrease that the Trump administration past and instead of giving employees a one time bonus, which they did they could have raised wages. Yes. And I think they're not the only company in that situation. Thank you, Matt. Thank you, that's felony editorial director of the Hollywood. Reporter. He joins me this Monday at one thirty. I'm Kim masters, and this is the Hollywood break this season unless notes from KCRW how does it feel to be like a girl playing instrument is? Well, how's it feel to be a man asking the questions? I mean what? Had I said, no to this invitation from John Fahey, I would have for the rest of my life wondered what I had missed. "Glenn democratic values are under attack around the globe. When authorities terrorism is on the March when nuclear proliferation is on the rise when we have foreign powers infecting the White House like malware. That again was Kamla Harris in Oakland today her hometown where she announced her candidacy. My guest is Jeff Cohen, and Jeff is the co founder of routes action dot ORG. He is also the founder of the media watch group, fair fairness and accuracy in reporting. He co authored two autopsy reports on the Democratic Party, and when he himself left mainstream TV news more than a decade ago. He wrote the book cable news, confidential, my misadventures in corporate media. It's a great read. If you haven't read it, I suggest you get a copy, so Jeff we've been talking about today's Democratic Party, some of our frustrations. But then some of the great thing some of the real activism that has risen up. But what about the DNC the DNC doesn't seem to give a whit about voters? So how does it progressive democrat defeat the DNC who's not progressive or must the DNC be changed early? Yeah. The Democratic National Committee needs to be revamped and overhauled the leadership needs to change same thing at the democratic congressional campaign committee. I mean, there is about going on within the Democratic Party between progressives that represent young people and people of color and the establishment wing that's often very much in line with the donor class the corporate donor class, and if you're if you still rely on corporate donations to be elected, you are not going to be the kind of progressive populist democrat that can defeat the right wing. So that's that's the battle. That's been going on. And we did win roots action dot Oregon our revolution. And a bunch of other groups were part of a victory where we force the Democratic National Committee to end the voting power of super delegates. They were the ones that. Yeah. They played such a huge role in. Hillary Clinton's defeat of Bernie Sanders in the democratic primaries. But there were a lot of progressive activists that went into the Democratic National Committee to fight them and the DNC relented and now the voting power of super delegates has been virtually eliminated for twenty twenty. Yeah. Well, that's really good one of the things that was also in Fahrenheit eleven nine. They showed at the convention all of these states that got up and gave their support gave their delegates to Hillary Clinton. And then the they had whatever the words over it would show that that state's voters actually supported Bernie Sanders. That was so frustrated. I mean, I think I my assumption is that Bernie Sanders to enter the race within a couple of weeks, and he would be my candidate. I would be very supportive of just because as you say, he's got that authenticity. You don't have to question. Whether he's gonna fight for these policies, if he's president because he's been fighting for those policies as a member of congress and a member of the Senate, but it's gonna be interesting to watch all the other candidates in this twenty five candidates circus. But as you say there will be some that say there for Medicare for all Bernie's been fighting for it for decades. There will be people saying they want to lift the minimum wage to fifteen dollars across the country. But Bernie spent fighting for that his whole his whole life or cutting the military budget to make room for all of those billions of dollars to go to human needs and free college education. Of course, there's nothing more popular than free public college. And raising the minimum wage cutting the taxes on the middle class and raising the taxes on the wealthy again in democratic autopsy dot org, we were a bunch of progressive writers, and researchers we did the polling data the some of these things are majority popular with Republicans. They're certainly popular with independent voters to so-called swing voters. So that progressive populist agenda is is really crucial and today. Tombola Harris said she was for Medicare for all. But she just doesn't have the track record of fighting against the democratic establishment, which which has prevented Medicare for all even in California prevented single payer from getting out of the committee. You know to be. So they didn't know that. And that coach turns my stomach, but tell us a little bit about the DNC. What were some of the dirty tricks that they played on Bernie? Well, the main thing was that their bylaws their charter of the Democratic National Committee says they didn't primary they have to stay neutral. And we know that they were doing funny me where they were basically spending money and hiring people based on what the Hillary Clinton campaign wanted. And they were doing that. When there was still a primary campaign between a contest between her and Bernie Sanders. It completely violated their charter, and then Donna Brazile who had been the head of the Democratic National Committee. She wrote an expose about how the DMC was basically a shell. She blamed both Obama and Hillary Clinton was basically a shell. And during the primary battle, basically, Hillary Clinton campaign was calling. The shots. Right. They were supposed to be equal, Donna Brazile. I don't I don't think that she's back on the cable news stations as some sort of analysts. It just turns my stomach because she was a turncoat to she was closely. A man CNN got they took her off the air because it was shown she sort of Donna Brazile had to admit that during the primary, and this is part of the corruption at the Democratic National Committee. She got questions that we're going to be asked in the debate between Bernie and Hillary and she turned them over to the Hillary campaign. And that's when CNN took her off the air. Hey, let me get a call from one of our listeners here. Jeff, this is John. He's calling from San Jose, John. Welcome to Keiji. Oh, you're on the air with Jeff Cohen. Go ahead. Thank you very much. Appreciate the opportunity. I just wanted to say that the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Just scares the bejesus out of me, I consider President Obama part of that progressive wing. And when he was in power he allowed the IRS to become weaponized through Lois Lerner to selectively go after conservative groups, he went after James Rosen and he legally wiretapped reporters going after our first amendment rights. So I think that the democratic wing or the Progressive Party is very Machiavelli and extremely the ends justify the means their stands on abortion into the ninth month. They're fiscal policies. I could go down there list. It's just they they really very much scare me in terms of to come in power again. Ron right with with Donna Brazile on how he acted and how she was sixteen the primaries towards the straight. Away from the progressive wing. If I could respond real quick if people read democratic autopsy dot org, they'll see that. Progressives were very critical of Obama the movie you mentioned that is so important Fahrenheit eleven nine shows how Bama let people down African Americans in Flint is a horrible just broke. My it's a horrible role that he played he's not seen as progressive by the progressive wing. In fact, I think that the bailing out of Wall Street while refusing to bail out middle class homeowners that we're losing their homes with the needed foreclosure freeze, and and and so much that could have been done for working class people in the wake of the great recession of two thousand seven eight that Obama did not do we believe is why Donald Trump one besides Hillary Clinton being weak and candidate. I mean during the eight years of Obama Democrats lost more than a thousand state legislative seats across the country. So it's our feeling that if you get into office, and you know, you can preach hope for change, whatever to get elected. But if you're an office, you don't take the levers of government, it put it on the side of the middle class in the working class and the poor then some right wing charlatan pretending to be a populist and Trump doesn't give a damn about poor people are working class people. Then you you become very weak when you're competing against the right wing charlatan. And and we believe that vacillation incremental ISM helping the rich and corporations and hoping it'll trickle down that's a recipe for failure. If you're a democratic officeholder, and I'm hoping this new wave this young wave of congress member Democratic Congress member will show that if you stand on the side of. Of the majority of the people against the one percent. It's a recipe for not only winning reelection. But actually implementing policies that really helps the majority of the country. Jeff, I we're running out of time here we actually are out of time. I'm going late. But I do want to ask you something important. And that is you were part of the corporate news structure, you were part of the cable system. They played an enormous role in getting Donald Trump elected. It's not the liked him. But they gave him every bit of attention. They ignored Bernie Sanders. What role are they going to play in the upcoming election and political? Yeah. I wrote an article about their quite recently. You can find it at Jeff Cohen, walk one word Jeff Cohen dot org. And I there's there's so few progressives your last caller, John from San Jose has no idea what a progressive democrat is. And it may be because he watches cable news. But you know, cable news has all these establishment corporate democratic pundits. Like, they had Donna Brazile. And they had they have some every day. And they don't have progressive democratic pundits. And that's I believe because of the corporate ownership of of media, and you are right in twenty sixteen and twenty fifteen which is even more important cable news, both the liberal channels so-called, liberal channels MSNBC and CNN they had policies of all Trump all the time if he was going to podium, it was breaking news. And he got his fifteen minutes of free time. Podium until he came there. That was also in the movie, you know, thirty minutes that they showed the empty podium always going to be there at any second. It was it was a stunning. Yeah. Oh, yeah. But again, if they made it impossible for any Republican to get any any chance against Trump when they were covering Trump more than all other Republicans combined and on a station like ABC their world news tonight, you know, during an eleven month period in two twenty fifteen they covered Donald Trump eighty minutes, and they covered Bernie Sanders. One third of one minute. It was a two hundred forty two one ratio. So again, there's it's not rocket science to do media criticism about our corporate owned media. You can just count the minutes, and I do blame CNN and MSNBC they were promoting Trump when they'd have him on for fifteen minutes, and then maybe do. Three minutes of fact, checking they were helping him get that nomination. And I don't know if maybe it's buyer's remorse that they're now anti-trump, but they sure helped him win. Yeah. They did. And one of the CNN executives even said that during the campaign that their coverage may not be good for America. But it was sure good. No. That was see that was CBS that was Leslie Moonves on two different occasions talking about how yes, it's not great for may not be great for the country. But it's great for CBS because the money is rolling in and the money was rolling into CNN and MSNBC when they went all Trump all the time. It was good for their bottom line..

Comment on pieces that we haven't yet published but could be out if it's not already sources with knowledge of the. Article. Say delves into a broader culture at. CBS and will publish later today on. The magazine's website statement, CBS has said it is investigating the claims made against moon vs all allegations of personal misconduct. Are to be taken Very seriously now Ronin is not one. To report these things without a good deal of research right he's he's been shown his track record is pretty good All right so the concern here is what about. His? Relationship with Julie Chen. And that's workplace married now jeeze All right so that it's still weird I'm assuming this has to do with others? Yeah Assuming too but it. Did OBI already you wonder how they got. Together Exactly Underlying and you would see that as a pattern of, conduct even though it created a, marriage it's was a pattern of. Conduct they're still so. Concerning. Right. Absolutely considering she still works is that is that? New they're just, out comes out. Today I surprised I missed. It is? It did it just come? Out In the last two hours that's. Why Mr. the CBS has added that. The timing of this report comes in the, midst of the company's very public legal dispute and while that litigation process, continues the CBS management team has, the full support of independent board. Members along with that. Team. We. Will continue to focus on creating value for our? Shareholders maybe I'm, not understanding what. Very public so they have a dispute? With les Moonves don't they Disputes it's. Going on right now and that's, why they're questioning the timing of this article I have to to dig in a little. More I'll look during your next door has been married to. Julie Chen since two thousand four they. Wed less than two weeks after moon finalized, his divorce His wife pattern that's a. Pattern I just say the but I guess is there any unwanted kissing touching is that what it was well apparently, Ronan. Farrow, who broke the story has been investigating Moonves and the environment at CBS four months as rumors swirled through the industry that's such an. Article was in the works. It's unclear what impact the New Yorker report will have. At a time when moon vez locked in litigation. With Sherry Redstone oh that's the lawsuit that they're talking about the wife of Sumner Redstone, or the daughter rather who's fighting for control of CBS Viacom She she put Unloaded some, interesting is Very scary dramatic yeah but the I'm just trying to get my head around the unwanted kitchen kissing and touching in a time when men may not have been aware that you? Know what I mean it depend how unwanted touching was what kind of touching or does he, just, fire. Charlie rose right No So I'm assuming this is relatively. Recent I I can't imagine they're talking about the time before he was married because he was first wife in nineteen seventy. Eight all right time for little traffic with Rhonda. Kramer, thanks, Jack Jill and. Lauren we're looking at the northbound side of the one at one four you wrote, around but we found an accident.
