"You're not. You're not winning that game. I agree with him. We're talking maybe more. About what? Three guy? What? What is the number there? Maybe that's our Twitter poll for tomorrow. What is the rock bottom number of players you could lose and still hope to win any game. If the other team shows up with with no positive tests. That's a that's a real question as well. But Yeah. 12 players on a game day. Yeah, that's your scenario, you're done. Well, and you gotta wonder at that point does the NFL step in And say, you're there's not gonna be a game. I mean, we've seen it with Major League baseball. I mean, were we thought there was going to be a major league baseball game at seven o'clock at night, and all of a sudden by noon there like Siri's is completely off right, so because there were four or five guys and they said no. I mean, if they're 12 guys, I got a feeling that the league with that point would go away to second. There are 12 tested. Positive then we can't do that right? Would just can't. It's not worth even playing the game at that point, But, yeah, I mean, two or three is is a big leap to go from losing two or three to losing 12, right. It's a big, You know what I like going like you just brought up Was that was was Leslie Frazier. That's You know, that's actually a really good point. Right? Like we talked a lot about about the death on the roster right about the depth and the coaching staff on a guy if Shawn Quitting, Coach Haven't Leslie Frazier in your back pocket as a guy who could step in and obviously commands respect in that in that locker room, you know? I mean, man, those guys you talk about You know, obviously didn't run through a brick wall for Shawn and I'm telling you, they do the same for Leslie Frazier says. That's a really good point. You know? You don't think about that. But if a coach did come down with it Haven't Leslie Frazier be able to step in possibly is Is a good thing, right? "Coordinator Leslie Frazier today to the title of assistant head coach he will remain the team's defensive coordinator as well it's a ego driven leading a lot of ways and for a lot of reasons because the money is involved and so you have to be willing to sometimes not see yourself in a headline but still feel good about yourself and be confident in who you are as a person and so I think it does matter for me it's about our team and what we're trying to get accomplished not the service in my name no in the newspapers or on ESPN or whatever you know that is Frazier on with one bills live you can hear that in full at WGR five fifty dot com as well as the radio dot com app around the NFL the Boston Herald reports that Tom Brady and bill Belichick had a phone conversation yesterday that did not go well although Adam Schefter reports that the conversation was not yesterday and that was just business as usual yesterday there was a report about the forty Niners being interested in Brady body and wrapped in Rapoport of NFL network says he has not heard the forty Niners are in on Brady but did say the team would not put it out there in the media if they work because of Jimmy Garoppolo's still being under contract sticking with football Steelers reporter Dale Lolley reports that Pittsburgh intends on keeping starting tight end Vance McDonald in twenty twenty Donald struggled to stay healthy last season carries just over seven million dollar cap hit for this upcoming season NFL network's Mike garafolo reports that Frank gore intends on playing in the NFL in twenty twenty gore had seven hundred total yards and two touchdowns for the bills last season two hockey the Sabres dropped their fourth game in a row last.

"You doing today you're going to ask you to be with you great to have you on the show Hey you wrote about it the moves the bills announced today Leslie Frazier becomes assistant head coach I thought you had a really good quote in the story you wrote from treasury said something similar that's at twelve thirty he says this highlights that my role here goes beyond just being the defensive coordinator I don't know what he meant many talk about it more and I got to better understand what what what is what is he saying that what you think well I think it's clear that he does a lot more than just call defensive plays and set up the defensive game planning for the week against to give an opponent I think there is a lot of conversation that goes back and forth between coach Frazier and coach McDermott not only with how the defense is going to get lined up for a given week but in terms of running the team we can't forget that Leslie Frazier is a former head coach in this league and I think it was very important when Sean McDermott was put the staff together and said as much in the comment in the story that we had on Buffalo Bills dot com that he wanted an assistant that had prior head coaching experience and so I think Leslie Frazier in every sense of the word or the phrase is used as a sounding board by Sean McDermott maybe more than any other coach on the staff as we you know kind of plow through this offseason your chance to kind of watch or get a hold of what happened at the combine tell us what you thought of Isay's Simmons can he fit in the bills defense you think I mean I he's not going to be anywhere near the number twenty two pick he's gonna be in a top five pick I don't think there's any doubt about it here's what this league is looking for in every sense of the word and what I mean by that is a guy that is essentially a positionless player a guy they can play anywhere in your back seven and and has the goods in every sense of the word so I wouldn't even think about him there's no chance the bills even get a sniff and write three songs the reason I ask that is the bills have got these new it couple new because a completely new defensive line crew Derek Washington and CZ the job last season here not so they've got some it's going to be some new faces over there there's gonna be some new things I I asked Leslie Frazier early in the show about you know how creative can you be in this kind of the fun part about being a coach and what is is what do you say how do you see that how much creativity is are on the defensive side of the ball I mean their number top number one two or three defense in the league anyway yeah I don't know if you need to change a whole lot obviously some of that is going to be predicated on who returns in terms of the pending free agents with three footer pretty notable ones on that side of the ball and Jordan Phillips Shaq Lawson Kevin Johnson and then taking it a step further who they're able to add do you have a guy that can fill multiple roles are you able to sign some premier athlete in free agency or draft one who can fill and where a lot of different hats that's when you can get creative but more and more in this league we're seeing defensive coordinators looking for players who offer tremendous versatility so that they don't have to substitute as much and still be multiple when that opponent goes tempo on offense we're with Chris Brown bills insider Buffalo Bills dot com is live on the line with us right now it Chris let me get you back to Leslie Frazier for second and it's a discussion that Steven I had gone back to this morning when the news came out D. eighteen season one of the half games into it a Sean McDermott took over defensive play calling and I think coach Frazier's reaction to that has a lot to do with getting a promotion like this assistant head coach he was not public if he was upset about it I'm sure he wasn't happy about it wasn't didn't say anything public about it he kind of took one for the team there it was a pretty drastic movie immediately got defensive play calling back the next week I think that kind of temperament by coach Frazier is one of the reasons why he's so highly valued around here your thoughts on that yeah I mean I think he had a high value anyway he's very tight with his players the players have good natured ribbing with him I even tweeted today because I asked when I talk to on the phone I said how much you know ribbing or you're gonna get from your players with this added title and he's you were just ran down the list of guys that were getting crap for having this extra time goal assisted head coach now too okay okay we so I think it just speaks to the relationship that he has built with these players it's a it's clear to me that they implicitly trust him with how he prepares them for game day and so I don't know that that circumstance even though he handle it in his professional manner as you could have really changed how people felt about him in the building quite frankly guys I think there's another element and another layer to this that we might be missing and that's the fact that I think Sean McDermott's also trying to help expand coach Frasier's cachet if you will yes profile around the league yeah because this is a guy that I think in many cases if you had somebody with a top five defense in back to back seasons they'd be getting a little bit more of a look as far as open head coaching jobs go and and Leslie Frazier this offseason didn't even get a snap right and I think that there's something wrong with that at least as I see it and so I wouldn't be surprised if part of this is coach McDermott trying to illuminate just how important Leslie Frazier is here and after Mendis impact that he does we we were talking about it and I asked him he's definitely interested in being a head coach again but I think it has some to do with that a lot of people making coaching decisions look for the hot young offense of assistant as opposed to a defensive assistant and then and it's it's hard to acknowledges but there's not a whole lot of African American black head coaches in the league and that number that number shrunk in the last few years yeah you're right about that and unfortunately I think it's more a by product of all of the attention it's on the quarterback in the NFL these days and rightfully so but the trickle down effect from that is owners want to keep that side of the ball as intact as possible and they fear in many cases and if I don't hire enough into head coach and I just have an offensive coordinator who works really well with my quarterback and does really well I run the risk of losing him because he's not my head coach this is gonna take a head coaching job elsewhere I would be surprised if that's the common thought of a lot of owners initially and it's unfortunately coming at the expense of very well qualified defensive coordinators in this league I agree with we also have something that I found interesting that Marc Lubick is gonna be office of quality controlled I'm sorry that's not yeah and now he's gonna be special projects and assistant wide receivers coach game management game management is that is a position that you don't hear much about but let Murphy and I were talking about it kind of a crucial crucial spot and and one that requires a lot of trust from the head coach yeah I think there's there's certainly ability to do that and I know coach Lou because being a guy that's been up in the coaches booth on game day for the last couple years so I I don't I'm not gonna pretend to know the extent of any game management responsibilities that he's had in the past but knowing how thorough coach McDermott is I'm pretty confident that there's been some element of coach Lumix job that's dealt with that in the past because I don't think that's something that you just blindly hand someone as an assignment so I would be surprised if coach Luke the last couple years has had some involvement in game management for this coaching staff that's down on the sidelines while he's up in the booth I think what he has done is to convince them that he can handle more of that going forward I'll tell you what to Chris I think a game management coach in the NFL that's an important piece you would want to have a resume to be a head coach in the NFL Sunday I know coach looks pretty young probably got more pieces to fill but that's that's I think become more important like how do you manage a game I do handle replay reviews when you throw the replay flag the challenge flag I think that's kind of an important part of a a resume for a head coach yeah I think it's unique title one that hasn't been seen all that often in the league but it wouldn't surprise me if we see it more and more and yeah I mean I think you can make the argument that it's a it's a valid stepping stone to bigger and better things in the coaching profession what are your thoughts about free agency coming up in a couple of weeks I asked one more question coach Jimmy Salgado nickel coach that's it a new classification for a coach our guys are doing that job with bills front flat I'll call nickel coach coach Frazier says we played nickel almost seventy percent of the time last year right and itself and I felt that I had to kind of help fans understand this is not a new role for Salgado is a new title yeah but coach Delgado was instrumental in the last year plus in bringing defensive backs on this roster up to speed as to how to play the nickel position in the scope of this defense most notably last season when he coached at Saran Neil who was drafted largely as a safety to come down and play that nickel corner role and then dean Marlowe as well and we saw them being utilized when Terrance Johnson was out injured those two guys were ready to face some of the bigger personnel groupings by the opposing offense to feel better against the run with bigger safeties playing that nickel corner role but make no mistake Salgado was the guy who was chiefly in charge of having those guys game ready and I think this is just a reflection of the job that he did in that capacity we have some new coaches to use jock Caesar and Eric Washington the whole defense of line crews changing they're gonna get new the new voice all of them are gonna get a new voice in the defensive line room no familiar faces plus you're gonna have some some new players as well forget the coaches so it's going to be a lot of kind I asked is about gladly for you there's a lot of question marks in that room now as you enter the preseason in the in the off season before twenty twenty yeah I mean I talked to coach Frazier about both of those new coaches and he's excited because I think he's expecting it to be a very smooth transition we have to remember that coach Washington coach for six years with coach McDermott in Carolina he knows the scheme inside and out so it's not like you have a coach coming in the door that you have to teach the new scheme first before he can in turn teach the players are school the players up on the nuances of what he wants from them that's already baked in so I think what you have now is a defensive line coach who although he is new can hit the ground running because he's got just as much knowledge of the scheme as the players playing in it the last two or three years and then on top of that this is a guy who's been a defensive coordinator in this league so I think for coach Washington it's a it's a huge thing for him to be able to have off it's a huge thing for coach Frazier to have on the staff somebody with that level of expertise online with Chris Brown bills insider Buffalo Bills dot com John Murphy Steve Tasker and see if you had a question about free agency for brown who now just going to give you a call and just your general thoughts first of all before we get into the did you know the crux of the which position group you think the bill should pursue in free agency given what's available in the draft yeah I mean it's kind of a mixed bag out there the receiver class in terms of free agency is very thin there are some pass rushers that I think you can get on a budget so you know for me you may want to go that way knowing there is a sharp drop off in terms of defensive end talent and at the top of the draft anyway so you may want to look at that even though it's going to come at a high price tag and then I think cornerback to deep class in the draft you can probably scoop of talent there instead of paying top dollar in the free agent market as well a cornerback the bills like knowledge last week Brandon Beane acknowledged last week at the combine they've already had initial conversations with the former Washington redskin Carolina panther Josh Norman was a thirty two years old I don't know this he solve any of the problems they might have a quarterback Chris what do you think yeah I mean this.

"Heard about a proposed CBA and we had Leslie Frazier in studio with us what do you think of the new today that Frazier's stays on as defensive coordinator as the title of assistant head coach what is coaching continuity due for the bills we'll take your calls eight oh three oh five fifteen toll free one eight eight eight five fifty to five fifty the phone lines were wide open I mean really wide open right now so we'll get plenty of time for calls everything December eighth at ninety percent to allow me to say this one is not a top ten Twitter poll I know it's important I'm looking for people to tell me what it does for the totally dive distancing myself from the thought process driven and good team player analog vibe zero totally throwing chairs and that but there's no question I mean we talked about it at length about and last year coming into this year where we catch hope Josh can take a step forward now you know and and now he did take that step forward and then after of after a sputtering start returned it over a few too many times that first month of the season actually first five or six weeks of the season you know he didn't throw a pick for three games you know and it longer street connected yeah it was it was really cool and it was fun any did take that step for the team did win ten games did go to the playoffs now you know like we've been talking about with the coaching staff and the and the town's evaluators in this draft in how good this roster is going to be a different off season for the team can just take another step he needs to you know he needs to can I say this about Leslie Frazier he was here this twelve thirty today he did not I'm in my mind he did not get this promotion because the bills were number three in defense this year this past year number two two years ago I don't think that's why I got the promotion but the numbers are impressive look at where the bills ranked in the twenty nineteen bills defensive ranking second in points allowed last year given up sixteen points a game they were third in yards per game allowed two hundred ninety eight point three pass defense they were fourth of first downs allowed they were six third down conversions allow they were seventy given up thirty six percent third downs rushing yards per game allowed they were tempted sacks they were tent all those numbers are great and you know what I don't think that's why he's been named assistant head coach I think it's his temperament Steve I think it's he is a leader you know he is a is a he's a leader on this team it is a surrogate head coach now just system head coach his temperament his attention to detail the way he handles set backs we talked about how he handled the I have in the plate good defensive play calling stripped away from early on in twenty eighteen handle it perfectly I think all those things is why he is now assistant head coach I think it is very little to do with the success the bills defense has said the last couple years I really do I think it's about how he handles success and struggles how he handles players how he articulates is goals and and I said before his temperament his even keeled temperament I think that's why Leslie Frazier's assistant coach reality I don't think it's only because the defense is good I think it's because of the kind of guy he is and the contribution he makes to the staff to Sean McDermott but you know how capable he is I mean this guy's head coach I mean so he you know he's an outstanding guy and I think that's the reason he gets this promotions because he does more than just coordinate the defense yeah he alluded to it a little bit that we have a beyond just being defense and and and rightfully so and football and this is one way for them to acknowledge it and recognizing Ford and yeah we will get find out if he actually gets a little bump in pay but I would hope so yeah right I don't know what you guys are the specific that it reeks it it not reset it speaks to guys who are out performing their expectations and you can not only need that on the field with the salary cap and stuff and you need guys you find that are better than you thought they were but you also need a new coaching staff so if you phone calls here Cooper in Clarence hollow Cooper you're on the air this Hey I don't know if you'd be surprised if McDermott being used are only first round pick for offense I don't think that will ever happen but I mean I know they pick Alan but we also have I'm inspects all I'm convinced over well bought well I think we also had well Cody former second rounder true yeah what do you think I think they would use it up I don't think Sean is locked in the defense I really don't I think this point you're trying to make yes they they had two first rounders they use one on offense one on defense a couple years ago last year's was defense two years ago or twenty seventeen was a defense to pick but I think they they're more I think the look that he has an affinity for defense he is a he has a familiarity with what they're doing on defense but I also think he has an overall familiarity with what his team needs and I think he would see that they need a dynamic playmaker on offense and I would not be surprised at all if they use the first pick an office well I think I I think to what your point is the callers point I don't think they're sat on one side of all of the other I don't I I know that they picked a couple of defenders like at Oliver Tramaine Edmunds up there high bye and of course Josh but I don't think it comes down to a we needed if we're going to pick a defensive player of the the I think it has to do with that draft that moment who fell to them how the free agency went I think they get what helps the team win the most whether it's offense or defense I don't think there's any inclination a preconceived inclination that they're gonna go defense a lot in the hype rounds of the draft or not despite the trend you might sense in the last two or three or the three drafts that McDermott has run so far I don't think it's sites would an unwillingness to draft an offensive player at all taking a call call here let's go to Niagara Falls Mario in Agra falls I don't Hey guys thanks for having me on I love the show I I just wanted to talk about continuity and how important it is for you know to determine always emphasizes you know culture and that that's one of the it's one of those things that I think the locker room values our our fan base values and it rarely it was really evident on the field this year that the team played together and they actually if if you look at their roster they they exceeded expectations I know they exceeded my expectations and a lot of it has to do with continuity and I will say this we're going into a season it's a brutal schedule and we are may actually lose more games this year and if we if we keep our core our coaching staff our our quarterback our offensive and defensive line if we keep that any and not jump the gun and fired the coach if we if we have if we if we only went seven or eight games like a lot of other franchises do you coke we could find ourselves in the championship game yes the championship game the following year so you've given up on twenty twenty yeah I'm not I'm not getting up by twenty twenty all I'm saying it can be it can be a challenging year for the bells because they have they're gonna be playing the best teams in the NFL and they give and when the bills be ready to play the best teams in the NFL you know I I think I think they are but you know I I I don't I think you have some teams that I wouldn't really quick to you know follow the head coach if they if they win and then one year and and things don't go you know the the way that they thought they were supposed to go the following year and I but I just believe Brandon being has has has the building something and I believe that they will take a step forward this season I believe that they will do well in free agency and and in the draft I I can see you now nine ten Wednesday this year about I'm just saying that continuity okay really is is very important because Oct twenty twenty one may be a completely different year and if we have all everybody in place we get back we could be a fourteen fifteen thirteen one okay yeah I'll take a crack at go ahead see knock yourself out not really I think he's right can it comes right we could be we could be a better football team and lose more games in twenty twenty them we we we were in twenty nineteen you could be a better team this coming year than you were this last year and lose more games because of your schedule but the expectations are that you're going to improve and going to be a better team than you were and there's no guarantees what anybody else is going to do it's hard to go back to the Super Bowl when you lose one it's hard to go back Seattle at these teams Seattle San Francisco put together really good teams last year it's hard to maintain Denver seems to be a team that may be on the rise Las Vegas in a new stadium may get some bump from that you go to Nashville a playoff team that has two key players that they've got to bring back you their quarterback and they're running back then of course you've got New England Miami and the jets once again like you always do that's the road schedule so it and then you're at home you got Seattle and Kansas city the defending world champions it's hard to maintain in this league the bills seem to be still on the rise and it's going to be interesting to see which of the teams were talking about like Kansas city San Francisco Seattle Tennessee are those gonna be teams that can continue to maintain their level of play.

"Now kiffin of course is foundational coach for a lot of what the the effectively what became the Seattle cover three because even though money keeping was mostly cover to Guy Pete Carroll learned his defense from money kiffin way back in the seventies in one thousand nine hundred ninety seven Pete Carroll was a graduate assistant with the University of Arkansas back on Lou Holtz. I'm sure it was coherent and money keeping was there so carol learned the four three under defense that kiffin deployed at Nebraska and and he basically just said like yeah but I prefer single high safety and took a lot of what Kiffin tot and added his own wrinkles to it and Carol said it was mostly because so the corner play money keeping apparently wasn't big corner guy and so when Carol was at U._S._C. he wanted to be a corner you or a linebacker you because he one of the corners to play aggressively and so when you look at a lot of the fronts that Carol uses and now of course Saal uses a a lot of that came from Kiffin and when you look at now the passing him coordinator in Joe Woods he spent some time with Manti keeping an four and five and you've got Mike Tomlin who eventually became a branch off the kippen tree and that someone that Joe Woods considers a mentor and then eventually he goes to Minnesota in Oh six and Tomlin's is defensive coordinator so that's the kind of the group that's moved around the N._F._l.. And that's where we spent the most the most time whether was what the Vikings Oh six two thousand thirteen I with Tomlin and then with Leslie Frazier Yeah why let a good coaches in there I mean obviously Kiffin is like all-time Great Defensive Coach and had influence on a lot of people but yeah guys like Tomlin and then Leslie Frazier Lever who may not have been as good of a head coach but I think is definitely a respected defensive coach in so yeah it's kind of as he came up in the N._F._l.. And got more and more experienced did get a chance to spend a lot of time around quality coaches of course like the kind of defensive coordinator they spent time under before he became according to himself was Wade Phillips in Denver so that was who he took over four when Phillips left to go to Los Angeles with McVeigh and and that's what we have basically now is two years of Joe Woods as a defensive coordinator and that's kind of the main timeframe that we can look at to say like okay. What did he really take from all of this experience under all these other coaches is in what did he actually end up using going to? When it was his turn the collar shots yeah it's important to note I think that he has been around lots of really good defensive coaches and he's been in covered in primary cover to schemes? He's been with that four three under with Kiffin tiffin and of course he was with Wade Phillips who is much more of a man coverage guy. He's been around a lot. He's been around a lot of really good coaches a lot of really good defensive backfield's and so now he's got a chance in Denver to do this on his zone. So what the hell does it choose what is Joe would scheme and what did he choose to call when he was in Denver. I think as we take a look at what he did. In Denver we can then take a look at what he might bring the forty niners to add a little spice and a little flavor but before we get into you joe would scheme. Let's take a brief break here from our sponsors. This is care Swisher. I WanNa tell you about my podcast Rico decode every week.

"I don't think they could have done. I think preseason point is a good one Howard. Which is he did only get like one third of the snaps if that petition till it until McCarron got hurt a little bit. And then he had to play give I've said this about every rookie good or bad. I wanna have a full off season before I can judge philosophies of that offense working with their team the trainer's not having to go to prepare for the combine not knowing what city are gonna be living in, you know, give this kid this. And then let's see where he is into a second season. And in his second season. He should have better talent around him than season is better. Because if not we're going to be an angry lot, no doubt. You'll be at the stadium today normal Wednesday. Yes. Eleven twenty. So what they did this week? There was no Sean McDermott Monday or no coordinators. So we'll hear I believe from debut today. Okay. Me I think that's what it was. And then Leslie Frazier tomorrow. So we'll still get them this week. Okay. But we have Sean McDermott at eleven twenty. We'll get an update on practice today. You've almost made it through another season almost I'm kind of sad. I'm kinda sad for the finale. You know, what it is? I'm a very routine oriented guy these and I'm very I'm a lot like a football player. But I think it's becomes from playing and coaching and your your days are set up. And there's there's this routine. You have once I get past the season. I wake up going it. Howard. Can I come in? Everybody thinks oh you've all this time off. No, give me you have all this time of when the season ends, Sal, just kind of hangs out at home and plays video games. And that really maybe just watch them net. Flicks and stuff. Okay. "Show in the four o'clock hour atom, of course, are northwestern sideline reporter and her bears and bears reporter and speaking of bears, let's step out of northwestern for a minute here. Harry and talk a little bear little bears preview. Tomorrow, noon kickoff, buffalo, Nathan Peterman. Who sounds like you should be an accountant or a social studies teacher or a doctor nutty starting quarterback in the National Football League. You're saying sounds Jewish. I was I wasn't allow wasn't going with that. But. We are hurt at Jewish Jewish. People are social studies. Teachers. Okay. I got to be all right bears. Bill Sunday, Nathan Peterman. There's zero excuses for the bears. If they lose this game. They can't lose. Buffalo's got a pretty good defense in buffalo did have the biggest upset in the NFL this year so into Minnesota. It wasn't even close and there's bears connection because the great Leslie Frazier number twenty one. Back to the Super Bowl. Yup. John Madden said the greatest interception ever saw was Leslie Frazier at lambofield Leslie Frazier's their defensive coordinator. But you're right about Nathan Peterman. Nathan Peterman is overmatched I think in book or Clayton Thorson. We'll do a better job quarterback the bills tomorrow, then Nathan Peterman would I mean. Derek Anderson a couch and they brought him in in his late thirties to quarterback their team rather than go to Nathan Peterman even Matt Barkley who they went through last time have Barkley was in the NFL is when he played for the bears two years ago. They'd be better off with Charles Barkley. They'd be better off with the story of Barclay from the valley. Peterman is terrible. He's awful shady McCoy having his worst season ever. I think even without Khalil Mack. And hopefully last kkob. Yeah. But he without out Khalil Mack. The bears figure going to orchard park and get a win against the bills and Trubisky. He uses his legs his arms. I like what I see. Too many times Kevin where he throws a pick or. All the. So let's go on the Mitch Trubisky train here for a minute because there.

"Hi, Cory, thanks for taking my call, man. I with me every morning. I just wanted to say. Keep keep making fun of meats off, man. Because I look I look forward to that every morning I'll be listening to you tomorrow. So to keep that up. The only reason I get up in the morning. Said it's the only reason I get up in the morning smiling. Same here, man. And actually the worthy reasons. I was calling because we've talked many times on a power trip that you are not a superstitious guy. And neither am I. And I don't believe in curses or anything. But man walking the you know, it's like watching the Vikings every year. It's it it almost seemed like where are you going to get? Kinda go your way because it doesn't seem like it. Always it doesn't matter. What perk? Now, you have out there. The Vikings have like a good year every three or four or five years something like that. And then they go back to like you watch the game today, and I'm thinking all right the stable Vikings. And I'm sure every other families thinking that and I love Zimmer. But if it doesn't matter what coaching and you last year's play the saints with digs. Yeah. Okay. Luck finally was on our side one time. But today, it's like, man. I mean, it's the same old Vikings. And don't you think? And again, I don't believe in curses. But I wanna get your take. I don't mean. I don't I'm not even asking rhetorically. What makes us not seem to be able to be consistent? And then you look at a team like the patriots who fifteen years or whatever they always do. Well, every year they might have a bad game here. But always consisted. Why can't this team? Do that. Are we are we cursed? What is it man? All right. Thanks for the call short answer. No. We're not cursed. The patriots have Tom Brady. And that's why they almost never lose back to back games. Right. It's weird. Because all week Ron we did talk about how the Vikings historically for whatever reason if you've been watching Vikings football for thirty forty fifty plus years, they do always seem to tend to play down to their competition. And that's why when it was a sixteen seventeen point spread a lot of people like man, this is the kind of game that they're going to grind it out. And they're going to win by four. And it's going to be weird. We're going to be bitter that they win by four. Clearly, this was not playing down to their competition. This is getting your absolute butts kicked by the competition. But it's weird because I do think if you look at the Buffalo Bills today, they're not nearly as bad as we thought they were. And that's that's why these huge spreads, Nina. NFL scary is we saw that first penalty on that very first drive probably alter the entire course of the game. And I'm not saying the bills would have, you know, gone on to win is big as they did if it hadn't. But right. Thank you. How much that that sets the tone for the whole game? The vikes get him to go three and out. Eric Wilson gets that sack on the very first third-down opportunity for Josh Allen and Lindvall lowers has had a little bit. It goes helmet-to-helmet NATO the flag. I think you have to throw that flag there. If Limbaugh comes in like that with his head down and it goes helmet to helmet. The way that the NFL works. Now, you have to throw that fight it sucks because Eric Wilson gets the sack of would have been a punt. Meanwhile that drive finishes off with Josh Allen touchdown in the whole games different. Right. Then you get the Kirk cousins fumbles in the whole thing goes to hell, so yeah, I don't think we're curse. I just think it's the strangest thing ever, and this is one of those weird anomalies at a team that was probably slightly better than garbage. Right. They're not good. But they're they're not as atrocious. We thought they were through two weeks. Played a pretty good game. Like, he said outcoached, right? Mike zimmer? Mcdermott did a good job bills were ready. They were not resting on their laurels and kicking back. It looked like the Vikings were already looking ahead to the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday. No Everson Griffen. No Davin cook. Look like we were just going to kind of go through the motions Hannibal off a couple of times and win. And I just think we look past him. And again, maybe that falls right on the coaching staff. Maybe Daniel Carlson right now is sitting at home laughing going. We're not I'm not the only reason why they are off to a rough start, right? There's no curses show. He could start. He's he's the he's the boulder that started rolling down the hill. They created the huge snowball. But if you think about what the Buffalo Bills were with tyrod Taylor. God awful just could not figure it out. Right. Josh Allen comes in takes five sacks in one game. Think at that. And then the defense Leslie Frazier trying to rest on this cover to just truce zone. Look McDermott says we have to be aggressive. We have to go after the quarterback we have to play a four three over front, but take one of the backers outlets put another DB in the game. Let's get creative three down linemen two linebackers a five bear fr-. I mean, you know, and that's what you saw today. You saw McDermott aggressiveness with Leslie Frazier zome behind it, and they were able to figure it out. And that's that's why I say before I thought the head coach should never call Leslie Frazier out on national TV saying he took the play calling from him. And then. All of a sudden teammates are like, yeah. We did come back in the second half a little bit. Now when when when McDermott was making the calls. No, that's a conversation. You have behind closed doors and say, hey, this is what I think we should do this. What you wanna do? Let's let's marry it together and figure out and today, you saw what that looks like when when two coaches conversation or converse, and they sit there and figure out what they're what they wanna do that was it that was what the Buffalo Bills wanted to look like they wanted to pressure the quarterback they still want to play zone because that's their true thing. Maybe vaughan. Davis was a problem. Maybe he couldn't cover anymore. I mean, he'll getting tired of halftime might have been their saving grace. How dysfunctional this team had been? Yeah. Like, you said stripping the play calling away from Leslie Frazier player that retires at halftime last week because the team sucks so bad. But he says he was a liability. Okay. He's lying. But I mean, maybe McCoy's injured, right? Arguably their best player there. So there were so many things on paper that led to the seventy seven point spread. And none of it ended up mattering today because they were ready in the vitamin they landed in Milwaukee last night with airplanes. So stress every nothing was going, right? And they still won by twenty one six five one nine eight nine five three two six or one eight hundred three two zero five three to six more of your phone calls after this. "And I just think of course, he is he has to feel his him himself pressure to get the defense on track. You're the coach you want everyone to believe in. You you want your fans to believe in you, your players, of course. And for the guy that knows defense if he takes over the play calling and it continues to be a mess. I mean, the Russian starts to get amped up quite a bit. That's what forced me to vote for McDermott is that he kept up his own pressure by taking over play calling duties, and basically saying this is that the keys are minor. But and that was something we probably should have asked about a little bit too. And we'll we'll have an opportunity today. I'm sure at some point. But you know, the interesting part about that is how that moves forward and Leslie Frazier did get fired after week two. He's still on the team. He's still the defensive coordinator Peterman still on the on the team. Right. So. I'm interested to see the relationship between Leslie Frazier, and and Sean McDermott as in how that whole thing. Plays out this whole play calling plays out. Right. Because I think I was doing I did a podcast early in the week with a with a guy from the Vikings. And he's like, oh, you guys are sick and tired of Leslie Frazier. Super soft zone already. You know, shocker like it was sorta like that's what they got really frustrated with in Minnesota was they just don't blitz throughout aggressive. They kind of let the offense dictate the pace of play. But that's McDermott's stopping Carolina zone. How telling is that McDermott takes over play calling and all of a sudden, they're they look somewhat aggressive because I think that's how laid back Leslie Frazier defenses has been at least for the first two weeks. It wasn't noticeable in the first what six weeks of last year because they led the league and Devi away. And it led the league in turnovers they run a historical pace. And then they soup they got grounded in a serious way. And they really have not recovered from that saints game. No, they haven't. And since that saints game the number of times that they have been blown out or lost by more than twenty. I mean, they've got six twenty plus point losses in Sean McDermott time with the team, and for you know, for a guy that's supposed to have built up the defense. That's all I was suggesting with the poll was hey, I think we can start to say the defensive coach who's drafted a ton of defense and signed defensive free agents. I think if you hire a defensive coach you're supposed to have a better defense than the last place defense in the NFL. So if you have a thought on that give us a call eight oh three oh, five fifty. We're going to go first to Charlotte for Mike, Mike Grimm. Buffalo Bills game day. Good morning. I have some I think the coaches need to win today because I've seen a lot of games in the past where the players had talent and the game and finally confident with our coaches, some you know, now we need to. Maybe we're not so talented, but we need the coaches to win a game for us. Because if if if McDermott had Angelo Crowell days if he hadn't Mckee taking the ball back the end zone, those players he wouldn't have to coach so much. I think we need little McDermott to win this game or to even take us to where we need to go. I don't know. What's Angelo Crowell? Terrence mcgee. I mean, I don't know..

"We don't get a lot of true gametime decisions. We hear it a lot of fantasy football game time decision. Then you wake up on Sunday and the guy playing or not I think this could really be a true game time decision. Yeah. So we're probably going to see a lot more of Chris ivory, Marcus Murphy, either way, whether he plays or not I wouldn't doubt that I think probably if Shawn McCoy plays. You still wanna make sure you don't give him necessarily the entire workload. If he doesn't play the insurer. I mean, obviously, you have Marcus Murphy, you have Chris ivory had to lean on them a little bit. I think that Ray Ray McLeod looks like he's trending towards playing this week. That's another guy another weapon if you will on offense that you can help out in some way. Maybe throw a couple gadget plays here that he. He can get involved in the run game. Like, they have Robert Foster. So there's different things you can do. And make no mistake about it. I mean, Shawn McCoy star best offensive player. And if he's out of the lineup really decreases your chances of winning and against any team for sure it would certainly hurt if if Lucia McCoy's not able to play 'cause then you'd have to rely on some other guys that. You know that you need to step up and so far in the two weeks a guy like Kelvin Benjamin. Ben one example where the head coach Sean McDermott right after the first game said this guy needs to play better and in the home opener. He he made one pretty nice catching a tight window that Josh Allen was able to hit him on. But other than that with the way that you acquired him in the way that you brought him in to be more of an asset. Just haven't seen that exactly yet. One of the things that I tweeted out yesterday a bit of a all twenty two type of clip, and I wasn't doing this to go after Kelvin Benjamin. So many people took it that way using it as an example. But Kelvin happened to be the example, I used and I will say that one of the things they need to do better to run the football is wide. Receivers are not blocking that. Well, and this was an example I gave out yesterday. Can check it on my Twitter itself. Sports Kelvin on the very first offensive play takes a bad route to get to the safety where he's supposed to get his head across him. Sean is a. Huge hole. Right. But because Kelvin doesn't get his head across the whole closes quickly. They stop Kelvin makes that block. I think Sean has a good ten to fifteen yard run media to open the game. I mean, that's that's something. Nice for Josh Allen. Suddenly, boom, okay. Got a nice little comfortable play to get out. We're out of the out passed a twenty yard line with the thirty five yard line. But I think overall that was again, again, one example, I've seen that from the receivers where I think they need to be better as blockers in the run game that would help one of the things I think the bills can do in this game. I'd like to see them start doing. They may need to do. I should say maybe start using Josh Allen as a thrower to open up the run game as vice versa. We always hear about they need the run game going either on game we could go. That's that'll open up. Josh maybe they need Josh Allen to throw the ball down the field a little bit. And then you have to stay back in their heels just a little bit. He's gotta hit a couple somewhere down the field intermediate long. And then they say, okay, we have to move back. And now you can start to run the ball south Padre me here in studio on WGN for the next ten fifteen minutes before. He heads out on a plane to Minnesota to cover. Tomorrow's bills Vikings game, which of course will have your on WJR with pre game coverage beginning at seven AM sell the Minnesota offense with Kirk cousins and all the weapons that they have. I know they're not going to have Delvin cook that's going to be a a benefit for the bills somewhat the takes away their biggest run option. But I mean, we know Kirk cousins he loves the throw the ball. He can swing the ball. And he's got a lot of weapons and with the with the playcalling issues that we've that were so uncertain about Sean McDermott yesterday, even said, you know, that's still working progress. We're still evaluating who's gonna exactly be making the play calls. But I mean, if if it starts out like he did last week where the defense wasn't responding to Leslie Frazier, and then they responded to Sean McDermott. You almost wanna say that wanna have McDermott throw something out there, or do you think it sort of thing where McDermott's gonna rely on Frazier? Make the play calls then. Takeover again, if he needs to but he's going to kind of help Frazier. Just say, hey, look, let's try and pull something out of you know, that maybe they haven't seen or something that we've only worked out in practice a little bit. And let's let's try something to kind of throw them off. Feeling that McDermott's gonna stay calling the defense. Okay. I like it. When a coordinator does it and the head coach is the head coach right to delegate. But after what happened last week after the results showed in the second half how much better they played whether that was because of that or not, I don't know. I think a lot of things always go into that stuff. I I get the feeling that Sean is going to do it because he wouldn't commit to neither way this week. I mean, I think it is going to hand calling back over to Leslie he might have told the media. I did it last week Leslie now on the same page. He's going to go back to doing it. He didn't do that. He basically said it's a team effort, and the other part of this that makes it easier is if there's any coach I've ever run across Britain who would be. Not cause a problem or cause friction by having his play call duties duties stripped. It's Leslie Frazier is no ego. He just wants to win. Right. And he's gonna make it easier on Sean McDermott if that's the case. So I don't know. We'll see what happens. But I think Sean McDermott is probably gonna call the defense after what we saw last week. And what did we say? I went back and I watched yesterday. There was a lot more slanting going on up front. There's a lot more twisting going on up front. In the second half. They were just doing some different things with their front four and really kind of front seven when Sean was calling the plays in the second half than he did in the first half Gerry whose had a great game. But especially a great second half this week. I thought it was all over the place. Yeah. In part of that was he was coming from different angles. He was coming inside outside not lining up inside but shooting inside, and, you know, taking different paths, and there were some loop around and things like that. I thought that's one thing that they did last week. So we'll see let's go back to your Delvin cook point deli. Cook has not run the ball all that. Well this year. Anyway, he's only averaging three yards a carry twenty six yards. Twenty six carries seventy eight yards. We're delve and cook and really hurt the bills where he won't be playing now is in the passing game leading receiver behind feeling and digs. Right. The bills got killed in the passing game last week by running backs. Melvin Gordon Austin heckler. These guys were just like, you know, running free. It seemed like especially Gordon and Tremaine Edward Edmonds was chasing. So I think Delvin cook not being in the lineup is a big. Benefit to the bills not having to cover him out of the backfield. More is even having to stop him. Well, Tapia's Murray can still run the ball. Davies Murray is actually averaging over four yards a carry this year more than Alvin cook. He's not the workhorse anymore. The Delvin cook would be I think that they want. I I mean, maybe he can be for a game. But I think more than anything this helps the bills covering backs out of the backfield not having doubleclick necessarily in the run game. You mentioned Tremain Edmonds. He's a guy that I think has kind of I feel like he's faced a little bit of criticism. Just for he has for for people saying like, well, we haven't seen much of him. And he's been talked up about being this guy who when you when he's on the field. He's so noticeable just because he's everywhere. But how have you seen his progression come along from when you first saw him a training camp? And he's gotten now seven games of action six games of action counting preseason and regular season. How have you seen that progression? Come along in in. What do you think he has to do more of to get to the level that he he won the bills want him to be at and where he wants to be a I? I think you're right. He received criticism. And I, and I think that most people most people are understanding Brayton that he's twenty years old. He's twenty how old are you twenty six thinking about when you were twenty years old, right? I wasn't even if you're thrown into this job. I mean, it's just like the things that you don't know. And how how different it is just from. I know college radio something like that. Right. I mean Tremaine had just twenty years old. He's a he's to fifty. He's not a really big strong to fifty yet for compared to the NFL. I mean, he is for college. He still got gained some muscle mass. He's got to get some weight on them. He's getting a little bit eaten up sometimes at times when guys can get their bodies on him, you know offensive lineman. Generally, he's a good enough athlete to move in space. But the biggest thing I think for him. And again, he's twenty years old, and we need to just we need to let him play all year. And then go back and say, all right. Where does he go in your to? I don't I think it's wrong to look at your main Edmonds every game and just try sti- set everything he does. Yeah. It's wrong because he's going to be a completely different player in three years. Then he is right now where he really needs to get better from last week though. I'd like to see a progression is like Josh Allen, recognizing things sooner. Yeah. Last week in the past game. He was chasing a lot. And part of the reason was what I saw was he identify the guy, but then he'd hesitate because he thinks maybe. Be careful over here. Just go. Do what you got trust your eyes goers supposed to go and go play football. Uh-huh. Salcombe pot. You're joining us here. If you've got any questions for Sal before he leaves for Minnesota feel free to chime in right now. Eight oh.

"Look the second half. Defense was good numbers wise, the third quarter was as best as you'll see the bills third quarter. And you could tell me while the chargers took their foot off the gas. I don't think so they were still trying to play. They were still being aggressive. And the bills defense came to play in the third quarter. Unfortunately, it was a little too little too late at the end of the day. But the chargers in the third quarter had nine plays. That's because they went three punt three punt three punt total of four yards. That's that's nice. Unfortunately, like I said it didn't translate to anything for the offense for the bills. But that's what you want to see. Now does that have anything to do with Sean McDermott taking over play calling duties from Leslie Frazier? Maybe does it have anything to do with Dante Davis leaving them halftime? And that group being galvanized in coming together. Maybe does it have anything to do with the chargers. You know, maybe not taking as many shots. Like, I said I thought they were being aggressive maybe sitting back a little bit and falling into a lull after halftime. Maybe I don't think. So I thought they being aggressive like I said, but if that's the defense we get from here on out they'll be able to have an opportunity at least to win some football games. Otherwise, if you get what you got in the first six quarters. You can pretty much just chalk up a lot more losses going forward. Because you're not going to beat anybody giving up twenty eight points in the first half in not gonna beat anybody. Giving up over seventy points through two games.

But you don't wanna Joe flacco. He's an outstanding player. I'm very familiar with Montana near in Baltimore. And just have a lot of respect for Joe Mars is really good athlete Heisman Trophy winner. Hopefully, we'll be prepared comes out on the field. Leslie Frazier on Joe flacco, he's an outstanding player. Everybody else in the world. Not with anything to lose when talking about this. Joe? Flacco is one of the worst quarterbacks in the NFL the bills defense coordinator, he's an outstanding player. Okay. Fine. And how it works eight. Oh, three oh, five fifty four us Mike show up in the bulldog. Thanks for listening. John Clayton makes his first regular season appearance. If you will today coming up at five o'clock, so just under half an hour from now, I mentioned earlier a bet that I have with a friend on the Bill season, and I feel bad because I said it was four and a half and the number was actually three and a half. So this bet is over under three and a half wins. If it's under he has to pay me triple the dollar amount. They win four games. I pay him the dollar amount. Yep. How you told me that in the hallway you made this bet with him. And if they made the playoffs he was yes. And you know, and it was even odds, and like I was just blown away by how do you not get odds? He's just like, you know, he's just a super nice guy like loves the bills and like the Golan, right? Like wreck said we're going they weren't last year. They did he won you had to pay him. I had to pay him for the first time. I've had that bet with him. And I lost. You could even this year. I couldn't believe that he took like you just laid out. And but all right. I made the mistake of thinking he has been doing this for years during the drought, but he has not it's only been a few years. So he's he's doing. All right. I think like he won here. I think it's only maybe the second or third year. So it's not like he's I thought he'd been doing it for like the whole drought even random people fifty bucks. That's a that's a tough way to live at a certain point. You just like I can't do this anymore. I've lost seventeen years in a row. I can't. But that would have been a story if he stopped right? And then they made it Jackson is with us on WGN Jackson. Hey, I have a quick question for you regarding fantasy football little random, but I'm gonna pickle here for my flex position. I either Adrian Peterson or James Connor. I mean, you look at the rankings and they're like literally right next to each other. What do you got? P P R APR. Yeah. I do almost every line. I make almost every lineup decision of mine by looking at two or three websites for rankings and just going right from them. So like, I start sit stuff I'm not I don't consider myself like a resource, but after having said that I think I would pick Connor I don't like Peterson's match up very much, and I feel like they'll have Connor do. I think for starters they'll have Connor do a lot of what they ask bell to do. If bell is not there, and they have like this bigger point. They want to make. Yes, I don't consider myself resource. But I have a very strong opinion about this. And I wouldn't even look at a ranking I would play Connor is. I think they are going to try to make Levy on bell, look like an idiot there it is. So I think they're gonna feed him. And I if I have a chance to grab him late tonight on grabbing them. I think he's he's he's going to he's gonna get fat at least until bell shows up. All right. Good luck Jackson. How late Wendy you pick. James Connor is a good question. How how long how long does this thing? Go. How many rounds? Do we have to look I think I have it set. Oh, you know, what I don't even have it set up on my phone to say how many rounds there. I don't think I've got it. Just set up a habit for ten. We have two running backs two receivers tied to flex at six quarterback kicker defense nine bench spots eight seventeen rounds. That's right. It's an odd number because I got to pick which draft spot. I wanted I picked one in one reason why I did was there's an odd number of rounds seventeen rounds. So while my green only goes to sixteen I gotta fix that. Our league is not gonna be able to keep track. When does James Connor get picked? Well. I wanna guess I don't want to affect our draft. But I the show comes first. Round eight. In two weeks ago. He was either not getting drafted at all or getting drafted as a as a Randa as a as a handcuff at the end of the draft by the bell owner. Maybe you know, like barely getting drafted right now. Middle. I think he gets. Well, I would look at it again. I would look at an looking at it. I think he's right after the last guys that, you know, our number ones. Pete and Barbara or James Connor. James connor. This is the same guy. You mentioned you didn't know who he was. Yes. He's the started for Tampa. Right. I think I would draft James Connor before I drafted Peyton Barbara. I think I would draft him before I would draft. Chris carson. Teams where you have a running back. But they're probably eventually getting phased out like those two guys like Seattle is going to go to penny. Eventually and Tampa will go to Ronald Jones eventually. All right. Wendy you draft bell. So we talked about this yesterday as I had a draft last night. And I had the eighth pick. And I did not get the chance fifth overall. He went it went girly Antonio Brown to that's the highest. I've seen in any draft. Mine all summer. David Johnson, Alvin Kamara and the guy picking fifth went bell Mao there. So I did not get a look at it. And I was prepared to do it. You're going to do it. I might have depending on like if Barclay had gotten me instead, I would have probably picked Barclay. Sigmund? Bloom says it's round three for him on bell yesterday. He said. Not at the top two rounds. Okay. Right. Same thing. That's not an update. Yeah. All right. I'm seven tonight. So last night somebody took them at five. I know it's another day later, and he didn't come. So I dunno if that matters to people like, you know, like after everybody yelled at him yesterday. Maybe you thought last night you might have thought he's he'll show up today. He started he feels bad probably. But it's another day that's gone by he's probably not gonna play on Sunday. At least once he misses a game. Like, I don't like what happens there you pick him. Are you hoping that they get fed up in trade them, maybe more than anything else? Maybe maybe trading forum you want Levy unbelted levian bell. So there aren't there aren't perfect situations at this stage in the league anymore. Right. But if that were to happen. Yeah. If I'm the bell owner, I'm relieved because then it's over now. He's gonna go play for somebody. You would think. Yeah. If you have though, and like you pick him six seven eight I think you should pick Connor to three round higher than maybe you would if you didn't have. Why I think Conor goes ahead of that round eight territory that you're talking about? Okay. Good point whoever has bowel ends up taking him before. He should go. Okay. Yeah. You don't running backs? You gotta get them early or else you're crossing your fingers. And if you lose on that, you're right. The thing is you you are what are you losing by doing that? You're losing. A wide receiver to like if it's the fourth round or the fifth round or a tight end. And you're gonna have to compensate later. I think it wide receiver. It's really easy to do that this year. There are just so many guys that if you're in this league only starts to tonight. So a league that only starts to wide receivers. That's I think that's a good gamble with Joe says three then you just going to have a little bit tougher time getting quality. But you can still do it. Right. Our league is two receivers. It's two receivers a tight end and a as out in two running backs in. Yeah. Right. Okay. Yeah. Well, for what it's worth, I know road wires in your preferred site or anything, but it's the only happy that. I'm I'm using on Tuesday bell was ranked two behind girly yesterday, the news broke. So like around this time, I would have looked at it and updated it, and he was dropped to six and now another day later with him still not reporting. He's now eight just updated it while we're talking here. And they've got they moved them down another couple of spots. Here. Here's Tom with us. I tom. Hey, how you doing good? Thanks for calling love your show. Thanks. We love doing it. All right, cool. So good news. I got Connor. So that's gonna work out. Good. But my question for you is yahu app is rejecting Garoppolo about four points higher in my league PR than mariota for the year. No just for week one. Okay. So what I'm thinking? From the looks of the ups that mariota's got a better chances scorn more. What are your thoughts on that? Yeah. I mean, I would defer to that. But that's I see why you'd say that Tennessee and Miami week one. I'm excited for Tennessee. I think that could be really interesting on offense. They have a new offensive coordinator that could be actually fun, and I like Marietta Garoppolo I'm a little bit more of the other way, if you played Marietta there, I would not criticize you because Garoppolo was a little lucky last year. I don't know how losing McKinnon effects that. And the they go at Minnesota that's their first game. So. If you play Mary owed over Garoppolo. I think it's I think it's reasonable to do that..

"I'm not saying this. I'm saying this. That's what I'm saying. I mean, you say eleven, twelve wins, and that's a heck of a sea of people in a regular season and I get it. I mean, look, I think that wind kid was looking great in the preseason. He got hurt. On losing soldier. Those guys things. Eventually they keep cracking the, they affect everybody, but knowing it seems, I mean, there's there's coaching staff is superior to everybody's and they've got the superior quarterback. But I think I think is allows Bella check to go more on defense since he lost Patricia. I think their defense will get better, you know. So I get it. They got some injuries, but it's karnicki can he can make anybody block? I mean, it's crazy. I think I'd have courage to try to block then get run over. But I mean they just they're so well coached, but I like the AFC's now I do. I think I think they're coming. I I like what Buffalo's done. I mean, they've got a whole new group of players in there that are buying in Leslie Frazier, doing a decent job on on defense, but I love the hiring of dabble. I liked this young quarterback because he, he looks poised. He's got the huge arm. You gotta have to have that in buffalo to winsome meaningful games in December, and those are the ones that. Count. So I think that teams good. I think I think the dolphins with Adam gates, I was there for ten years. So I for ten days and I really enjoyed being out there. I love the way their team chemistry is, and I know people point all they do this. They looked terrible. They give ninety are run right up the middle. I mean, I get it. So it's free season, but I like where they're going with this team and and gazes. One of those often to guys like McVeigh like mcdaniels they're going to win, and I think he just needed defensive, get in there and keep producing. I like what they've done on defense. So I think that team's going to be there. The jets are the only ones is going to be tough, especially if they play the young quarterback, I think they'll get beat up, but they just got they wouldn't eleven twelve games right there in the playoffs kit, right? Probably back to the AFC championship which they've been seven years in a row. Have we not learned anything? We just keep doubting, Tom Brady and Bill. Okay. I want to know that and then and then and then what did they do? Okay, lost it. A giants they go, they go back and they win the Super Bowl lose to the giants. Again, they win another Super Bowl. So you may tell me because they're going to lose their third Super Bowl out of eight all of a sudden they're going to have this precipitous drop off. I don't see it just as long as that guy. Bill Belichick is the head coach and that guy, Tom Brady is is the quarterback of that team. They're going to be right there in the mix. Now these other teams in the AFC east, they've got to get better because they've been terrible for so long. So they're gonna get better with all the draft picks that they get for being a bad team. They're going to overtime, get better and get better coach. But at the end of the day, you guys insane if you think that Tom Brady and this New England team is going to be right back there again, because I watched this team last Thursday. I did the game in Philly, and I washed his team last Thursday, come out against the Philadelphia Eagles that defensive front four is not the same defensive front four. They played against in the Super Bowl. The eagles had their way against that defense. When you add a guy, like Dante Hightower back to the mix, you bring in Adrian clayborn who just completely wreck the Dallas Cowboys by himself..

"Wants to make sure that everybody knows that you know he's going to be what they thought he was when they were drafted him so he he harbors no intimacy but he using using it as fuel for leslie frazier to say that i think also kind of backpacks and everything i just said i actually thought that was interesting because i think you know typically coaches are close to the vest and don't necessarily want to give some and you hear that like you'd hear that in perceive it as that's the negative that's a that's a bad thing for shack all of a sudden the coaches say well that means his attitude wasn't good the latch on your coat and you could reserve some criticism not just for shack lawson cell but also for coaches it's a coach's job to reach a player sooner and if rex ryan and his staff didn't do it right away that's a little bit on shack and a little bit on them as well i agree with that jeremy and you know we all know how we all know the love that rex ryan had for shack in other clemson players and you know look i just i think that this coaching staff is just better anyway all around from an individual position basis from head coach basis coordinators whatever i just think overall the job that they do how they go about things speaks to that and you know i think check lawson's in a better situation now than when he came in with more people holding him accountable and him also understanding and maturing and i think that's really where you want to get now look i don't know where it's going to be at the end of training camp last year i thought he was great at training camp i said every day oh my god shack looks great when the season started i'm not gonna say disappeared i thought he played pretty well i mean i thought he was good against the run better than people thought he'd never put up the pass rush numbers that a lot of people expected them to maybe that's where that comes from this year but he he.

"No check it's all the credit in the world for being a defensive genius i was thinking about this this weekend is sean mcveigh gets a ton of credit for i don't know maybe being an of genius in at least giving jared golf some life is there a young defensive genius out there right now because can we nominate perhaps sean mcdermott is that he took a defense that was awful last year seemingly has fewer players now only star players and their way better look i um you know i guess i wouldn't at hadn't thought of him as young been a coordinated before but listen his background is um the late jim johnson who was defense coordinator for the philadelphia eagles he was on that staff and he's on that staff with leslie frazier the former vikings coach he was on it's there for the ron rivera on that staff with john harbaugh in so you know he was you know i'm sure impacted by jim johnson and the other coaches on that staff the next thing you know young becomes the bills coach and they had a couple of players and they're playing pretty good football right now so um i guess you know a young coaches he had good you know um defensive coordinator and play caller yes he has the thing i would say about this when i hear people say you know somebody's an offense of genius or defence of genius i i love the idea if what you're seeing from that guy's team or unit offense defense is something new something you haven't seen before it's a little wrinkle on something that other people are doing but it's different because you know your your may be doing out of a different frowned her a different down distance whatever may be.
