"She wrote John Madden a letter telling him he's doing it wrong. Is that correct? That's hilarious is like this wise hotel is like your mom keeps calling the people telling them to say your name wrong, But I don't care if people say liberal. I know she wanted that right. Totally remote Degree Bay Packers. Let him is where a lot time your story and marketing NPR guy. He's telling me that it was so funny, but it was very respect with they start calling me little run forward after that, that zoo much fun, did you? Did you tell him Mom? Listen, It's okay. It's okay. I'm playing football on great. You know, no university If he has a capital R little, he is little Roy. I said okay, but I'd never correct. You should say what I will. And your mom was right. Because you everybody at least deserves the respect that having their name pronounced correctly, especially you. Look. Hey, Thank you so much. Enjoy the game today and and we'll talk to you up the road. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. I really appreciate I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much. So you gotta Daria's Leroy Butler. Connor, not not Leroy Butler. LeRoi and I know that it the way that it's spelled. A lot of people millennials like yourself with wouldn't pronounce it correctly. But let me tell you something. The Roy Butler was an excellent player. I mentioned that he's a two time finalist. Now for the Hall of Fame. He's right there. You're talking about a guy that I believe it was the first To be in the 2020 club, 20 interceptions and 20 sacks. So he was really a guy that could do it all as far as blitzing getting to the quarterback and then also good coverage. And during those times, too, I know that A lot of teams that they more lesser using two safeties or two free safeties. Back then you always had a free safety and strong safety and the Roy Butler could he could. He could come up in in in in run coverage and bam! He could play the run or he could sit back there and he could hurt you with interceptions. Really, really good player, Probably a Hall of Famer. I'm rooting for him and the creator of the Lambeau Leap. Back in 1993. Did you know that the Raiders played in Los Angeles? Connor Green? I didn't know that. Yeah, Yeah, the L. A Raiders back in 1993. So they've been the Oakland Raiders, the elevators back to Oakland and now the last Vegas Raiders. All right, so we've checked in with three teams. Right? First hour. We did the FC. We just had the word Butler talking about the Packers coming up. Next is great on many covers the Tampa Bay Bucks. For the athletic and, you know, like this is really, really intriguing because Tom Brady went down, albeit with a talented team and a talented roster went down the Tampa Bay and change things changed the culture. You just heard the Roy talk about Reggie White. He came up, he changed the culture. In Green Bay made him into a winner Tom Brady. If it appears that the same thing down in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers will talk to Greg Allman coming up next about the game, and what he's feeling with the Bucks today, this is John Marxist, the CBS sports radio. We will take some phone calls next segment. If you'd like. 855 to 1.

"Well, Jimbo got in and like that veterans coming right? That might have to be a best selling 25 someday. My guess is Laurie Butler goes in this year. That would be my guests. I want to see that too, on with no real inside information, but just the way I think it's trended in the last couple years away, people have talked about him. You've I've been banging the drum, so to speak for your former teammate for quite some time in your clothes, done some side by sides that comparisons and compares stands to channel inch because John Lynch is so far below Leroy Butler. That you may not even think that John Lynch playing the NFL history. I mean, that's how bad it is. That's how bad it is is that's are impressive, and he was a hell of a player for that, Ed Reed Stat said. Well, safety, Ari. I mean, my heavens, the best safety I've ever seen. I'll tell you that I don't want to disrespect Ronnie what I was pretty young and when Ronnie Lott was in his absolute prime But I'm sorry I'd read the best I've ever seen. Well, it's just not. It's not just a statistic with that. Read that clip. Remember that last year when the NFL was announcing their 100 greatest players on the NFL network, Bill Belichick was part of the panel. Yeah. Do you remember seeing the clip? Bill Belichick with salivating. He was sitting at the table with Cris Collinsworth, and he's talking about the best play he's ever seen a safety make when Ed Reed baited Peyton Manning into throwing an interception because he fates like he was biting on Peyton Manning's pump fake. In the process at re basically knew that he was going to pump fakes so that he could sort of the receiver on the opposite side of the field. And as as Ed Reed starts to make the break like he's going like he's biting on his pump fake, he starts going in his bag turns around and basically sprints to the spot on the field where the receiver is going to be and Bill Belichick race. It's one of the greatest place I've ever seen. And when Bill Belichick says that there's some weight to that the Val check seemed like every defensive play in NFL history for crying out loud, so it's true. No, he was He was that special. But, yeah, I think Roy's gonna be in this year I do, And they're obviously to lock first timers and Peyton and Charles Woodson, who we talked about the other way. If you see the most defensive place that means you've seen the most offenses place absolutely true, But I'm talking about He's watching the defense more than the offensive, but I've been watching Is there on the field? Yes, it is. I can't take his eyes off the defense. Let's face it. He's Bill Belichick. We've got dueling wide receivers coming up next dueling opinions on the Bears and their pursuit. Should they or shouldn't they? Pursuit of the Shawn Watson will play you a couple of sound bites from earlier this morning. Coming up Next 3123323776 is the number if you want to talk about championship Sunday Bears and Watson, some baseball news and notes and just an unbelievable Al Michaels story about a baseball luminary in a baseball legend before we're out of here. "I really liked them, and I think they're only going to get better. And then in the West San Francisco decimated with injuries. I don't think the Cardinals are Super Bowl team. I don't think the Rams are Super Bowl team and you got Seattle's so sure the Packers Aaron that conversation, But I thought they failed their quarterback this offseason by having a good year last year and not trying to get that team better Now, you could still survive. Maybe you still get to a Super Bowl. And maybe you won a Super Bowl. But if you do have those deficiencies that you failed to address in the offseason shop and hurt you, you know what everyone's going to be doing the minute when you lose and also to be fair you've brought into defensive players last year Za Darius meant and Preston Smith. So now they have another year in the system, and they're both on as the dairy Smithy. Both Smith players are really good football players. So let's see what does happen, but the main point where I'll just push back a little bit actually to continue this thought on why it's different between Rogers and far been sure you could sell me on how you're looking to do what the Packers did when drafted and Roger's Aaron Rodgers fell to them. Jordan love they made an aggressive move. To trade up to get him when let's be riel. No one else was in the way ad towards the end of that round and taking one and taking one Jordan love. So that's what I think it is a little bit different here and another part that's different here. Aaron Rodgers has never talked about retirement. Aaron Rodgers has never given you and any indication that he is on the 17th or 18th hole of his career. When the Packers drafted Aaron Rodgers. Brett Farve was given you those signs. And, yes, he ended up going to play for the Jets and ended up going to play for Minnesota, where he threw that horrendous interception in the NFC title game up against the Saints, but but far was given you this the signs of retirement and was talking about retirement. So that's where I think you get the reaction. Of many people having animosity for the love pick. And I also think That that's the difference. Where? Yeah, sure. When you just look at it. And you don't really do a deep dive into it, And that's what we do here. We do deep dives into certain situations. I could see why you say, Okay, they're just trying to replicate what happened all those years ago. To me that just screams more of a young coach in a newer general manager, trying to make a big, bold mark on the organization and preparing for the future where you didn't have to prepare for the future right now. Cause you can't tell May I I don't know if you agree with this trace. And maybe maybe I'm looking too much into it. If Jordan love, though, right now, I can't be the second quarterback on the on the depth chart. Did they really loved Jordan love that much like I get they traded up for him. But how can you tell me that this guy is the future of your franchise were actually maybe there's a better way to toward it because so what? He's the 3rd 3rd string quarterback. And we talked to Leroy Butler a few weeks ago asked him if Roger's got hurt. Tomorrow's who started, he said it was Boyle. He said it was not love. So if let's just say Roger's got hurt. I personally think that Jordan love would be on the field and would be playing. But if he's not Isn't it? Tough to tell me how much you really love this guy? Even though you gave us the impression you love them by trading up to go get him. But with love. The questions were always about him being a project that he was never with us. Guys you would determine. Okay, you're gonna draft me start day one. There was obviously a lot of questions. A lot of raw tool that he had He had the talent, the arm talent. Like you said he had a great year..

"The Royal always taught love jumping on the show with you. I love when you jump on my show as well, and I Thank you so much for the time this morning. Enjoy the Packers game tomorrow night, man. Thank you so much. You know, in a town you want you just called. I appreciate that very much. Thank you, Leroy. Roy Butler joining us this morning on the show. I just I can't get enough of that story. And I know that these days are marked with a lot of negativity and a lot of bad news and a lot of stress is and I know that even today on a Sunday for many of you not working You're staring down the barrel of a gun tomorrow, and it has to do with home schooling or making sure your kids are safe for working two jobs or hoping that your job doesn't get for a load or And I just know that there's a lot that's out there. And so I'm kind of constantly searching for those stories that make you reminded that things were okay. They'll be okay. And I do this on my show every Monday for a momentous Monday in honor of my friend, Little Mo who passed away over the summer, but He was only 14 years old and beset by cancers entire life. He never stopped smiling, never stopped laughing every time he called my show he was laughing, even though he was in and out of the hospital's constantly and so I'm always looking for something. It reminds us to remain inspired that there are good things that happen all the time. And Leroy Butler story is one of those. Can you imagine? He is born pigeon toed so badly his braces growing up on his legs. He cannot go outside and run, ese. He's in a wheelchair is watching his friends play and one date eight years old, his his sister is late for the prom knocks into him. He falls off of his wheelchair. He's got the leg braces, the leg braces break. And he thinks Oh, my goodness. How am I going to stand? How am I gonna walk? Without the leg braces. He gets up and realizes I don't need them. Then he's running and walking and just doing what an eight year old does and he becomes. An NFL Hall of Fame finalists plays in the league plays for the Packers of the nineties becomes a Packers Hall of Famer. I mean it just How do you figure? Besides there's divine interventional of the time and they're incredible things that happen. You just gotta remain positive and Sounds like Leroy even before that happened was a positive, bright, happy, go lucky young man who had a lot of reasons not to be with, you know, not a lot on the table, obviously grown up the projects in Jacksonville and grown up. With braces in a wheelchair. And yet there he was laughing and smiling. And when people are picking fun of of him, he was laughing back with them. Just an amazing, incredible, uplifting story. So I appreciate your butler so much. For joining us this morning on the show Monday night. Tomorrow night, we might have two games Who knows that's going to be one of them. Certainly, Packers and Falcons that's been scheduled. We're waiting to see what happens with the Patriots and the Chiefs. A game that was supposed to be played later on today has been postponed.

You know the NFL network for even trying to promote Thursday night's game, and they tried Io. I got a kick out of gamblers will be there. Well, I didn't even know about that. I mean, that's a tough game to gamble on. I'm not gonna lie video in three verses only three. I mean, with two coaches that might be on their way out. I mean, what is it again? It's the Broncos in the Jets. Good luck Tried. I'll give the NFL network credit They tried. They put a promo together to this is going to be the game. Everybody get ready Week four starts. Much that once like I told you yesterday that I think I'm taking the position. Anti Giants anti jets so over they play. I'm going to take the other team as you move forward. I don't know if I can trust Denver them. I don't trust either of them. I mean, it's not like it's a game with really fantasy implications without Courtland Sutton, who are there, even big time fans. Here's the other Who's the running back? That was there. Lindsay Lindsay is hurt, too. I mean, she's this's a live beyond bel. I mean, that's what you have. And is there one receiver Jamison Crowder. Maybe that's on on somebody's active roster. Catch some balls in that offense. He was actually quietly a pretty productive fantasy player last year. I don't know. Good luck to you, man. I can't. I can't muster up the effort for this Thursday night. Luckily, there's baseball gambling, though gambling will always peak. Someone's interest will be an MBA finals that night. Uh, what's the final schedule? It's a good question. Is there Finals game Thursday, Wednesday, Friday Wednesday Friday Gotta congratulate Tampa Bay. That game. Still probably gonna be baseball. Sadly. If that Thursday night game, it'll probably still beat the baseball talk about playing baseball against the Thursday night game between two teams that are only Falcon Sender tour squads with 30 guys and each team down. And the next 30 guys on each team playing, and it would still be baseball. No, it'll beat everything course. Thursday night game will be anything the n B A. Or the but even this one. Even probably. Well, I said that yesterday. You watch. It's gonna go when I was talking to somebody in the industry yesterday called me And he said, Do you realize He's a baseball guy, he said. Do you realize that if you took the Cubs and socks rating for the game on Sunday Together, they game on NBC Sports car come up, short of added them together and then multiplied them by for you fault. No, you fall short of the Bears. Bears are like a 30 for you. If you what If you just add in a golf scene, Would Steve Cash would have put it over the gym? Blaney with him? That's over over the top. That's what I'm thinking. A golf scene a little casual out there. I think that that helps this's like Benedetti's version of ratings math. You're telling me if you Adam together, multiply. It still doesn't beat the Bears. All you believe, multiplied by four. Yeah, You believe that? I don't know. I I probably would've guessed if you multiply it by four Bears games or pulling well north of 30 NFL Man. Those are moon landing ratings. That's a moon. That's right Hood, this huge TV and by the way, No more betting for Baltimore in a big game. That's enough of that, like Lamar, like, but this is part of the company, right? We've just got a bit of hype up. Mahomes versus Jackson like it's some rivalry. I saw that this morning on the Keyshawn and Jay will Zubin. Trying to hype up like this is Brady and Manning. It's not one guy can't beat the other three. No against them. So you so until until Lamar Jackson's winning big games on a regular basis against someone the caliber of the homes were not just that we're not dead in the Ravens. Martin doesn't Lamar Jackson have like what does he have one loss against the entire league in the regular season, other than Chief the Chiefs or two losses or something like that. It's got like two regular season law away against everybody else in his own three against incredible. Mama Holmes. By the way, says Louis, Riddick, stop calling impact. It's not his name one who calls him that. Who else calls him Pat? No milk because her ex husband is Patrick. He's Patrick. So did you see the kids spoke today? Patrick when he said, he said, My name is Patrick, my moms. First husband and my dad is Pat Pat Mahomes. And then whose client Edwards Eagle Air because I have always heard a client Edwards, a lair. It is quite client would allow. So who's eagle? Who was Steve Levy talking about last night? But he must have gotten the pronunciation, right? Like zeal. Is Alaric telling everybody Hey, you say my name wrong because he was making such a It was very dramatic. And here we go with Clyde Edwards, the lair and I'm like, Wait, What? When did this start? Is it ealier or a layer? Because I asked the player? Yes, I'm saying it's some way. Patrick Mahomes verified his situation. Or you remember Leroy Butler was Leroy Butler became Laroy Butler. I can't be. It became LeRoi. We're getting the money. Yeah, it was Leroy when he's broken. When he's signed, a new contract in the Lambo Leave suddenly became right. I never know what to call the Roy Butler because I had to confuse me. I told him that Said you when you're broke. You would just play all Leroy you just Leroy, but that's right from Jacksonville. "Like somebody put a fire in me? What? They didn't want to be down long, and they're not I don't know what this game will ever get over. Not. But we still have two minutes six to go till halftime. Three timeouts for New England. Here is the quarterback Drew Bledsoe. He's had an interesting first half. Let's throw on first out back to throw ends up over the middle class by coach and he is tackled from behind and like fire from the front, a timeout taken 58 seconds remaining in the 40 yard line for New England at first coach is really a big target over the middle and, oh, he's got a distinct I mean, enormous size advantage on Leroy Butler by one dimension. I think one of the real unsung heroes in this football team is Mike Prior. He doesn't start comes in a nick on dime coverage, and he has made a number of places here. I'll tell you what's ahead here on the coach, you'll see and that's uh, put a little fear in him because he actually just heading right. Practice right in the head Coach comes right across the middle butter had him on the coverage and he got a little push off on Butler downfield. And now here is where the hip comes. Oh, man, coach ever get creamed on what is it now? 27 to 14 while first half Of the ball game from the Superdome in New York. What a week we've had down here on aisle and I did in 3.5 days when you could do a week, a year and a half days. You are not stayed up all night last night makeup just want to check myself out. Here's a first down for Drew Bledsoe again under pressure fires it up field. This one has caught by Terry Glenn at midfield immediately drill. I don't think I don't know what they're going to market. First down or not, they don't take the time out. It's about running and 48 seconds and New England hustling toe the line of scrimmage they love Get a field goal or touched down here on this drop. Here's what's so they giving a first down, but so dumps the ball off over the middle and in the media tackle made of 49 good coverage by Butler on David Meggett and gave him about a yard and they have to use the time out with 35 seconds remaining when they have only one left. Good coverage. Violet Roy Butler on the play in the lineup will come Mahala Quest and gave Wilkins for the Packers to give Sean Jones and Reggie I believe arrest on this particular Siri's and gets him. Fresh bodies in there for the Green Bay Packers. Jack has been going with three defensive lineman, two linebackers and six defensive backs in Siri's keeping fresh to leave, switching back.

"Can you admit Joe Burrows going to struggle? It's going to look ugly a lot this year like it's gonna look like they'll be sundaes. That we're going to go. This isn't gonna work is not gonna work. I mean, you certainly not stepping in the ideal situation, Not heaven offseason, OT eight preseason games. This is unlike anything that we've seen. I'll have to go back to the 2011 lockout when Cam Newton came out number one overall pick didn't have the opportunity to have a full off season because of the the lockout, but look the 1st 2 games when he had an opportunity to play. He made up for 20 yards in back to back games depend upon how Zach Taylor build this offense around Joe Borough. There's a chance that Joe Burrow could hit the ground running. It doesn't look like it's going to be the case, but I wouldn't dismiss him because it's all about the synergy and connectivity that he is with his coach and the continuity that reveals with what I think is a very talented perimeter set of playmakers on the outside in Cincinnati. But I think Cam's a better prospect than Joe Burrow on my nuts. No, you don't know it's camp is a is a much better prospect coming out then Joe Burrow. However, I will say this. If they do what Zach has talked about doing, which is basically take what they did at L s u and put Joe Burrow in that offense. It could work. We saw what happened with calamari with Cliff Kingsbury. They put him in an office that was very reminiscent to the things that he did in Oklahoma. He has success. It all depends upon Zach Taylor. Being able to really elevate your burrow out. Put him in office is very comfortable and familiar. Okay, so the Jamal Adam's trade I My first thought was wow. To first, the third in a starting safety. That's a lot You. You don't like giving up good players You enjoy always fall into this. You can't give away great players and I'm like I'm not going to sell my house. But ifyou're going over pay for it by 40%. I'm selling my damn house. To 1st 3rd and safety for Jamal Adams. Would you remain I would have made the deal of the Seattle Seahawks. But let me give you a little backstory and concepts. Josh Knight or not. We're together in Green Bay in 1996 the Green Bay Packers went on to win a Super Bowl that year. On their team. Leroy Butler, Leroy Butler was an all pro safety, I would say he reinvented the hybrid safety position doing in 96 season. He has 6.5 sex, five interceptions and over 100 tackles. When you look at what you're more Adam's brings to the table. You cannot label him a true safety. He plays down in the box. He's a guy that can get to the Quarterback we've seen in his 1st 3 season. He has 12 sex. He is a guy that also Khun generate turnovers, which we're seeing with 12 takeaways when you're getting Jamal Adams and you put them in Seattle's defense, you're getting camp Chancellor Plus meaning you're getting be enforcing the Middlefield Plus passed rest ability, plus the ability to take the ball away. I believe the Seattle Seahawks are defined by their defense. Particularly the Legion of boom. The new version of that they needed somebody in the middle. There could be a second double headache. That is what Jamal Adams's. He's the enforcer on their defense. So join doesn't like draft picks. I kind of agree with her on that. I like certainty over speculation, and Seattle is going to get the Jets to low first rounders with Russell Wilson. They're not finished in 18 8 That's not gonna happen. So where do you land on the whole? I got a great player like Oakland gives up Khalil Mack and they got draft picks and they hit on two of them. They hit on two of them. What is your theory is a former player, a scout. On draft picks for star players. I will players over picks. I want to know that what I'm getting is going to be all pro player because Colin for so long. We hear people talk about a draft and develop is the way that you build your team. When you drafted player six. Overall, he plays that are all pro level in a pro bowl over in two of those three seasons, he and J J Water the only guys that have 200 plus tackles, templates. Sex 25 past breakup. You're talking about a gold jacket type player, So no, I'm not willing to give those guys up for nothing. And when we think about the difficulty and being able to draft players, I just like sticking with guys that I know and I believe Joe Douglas is going to be a good evaluated. He's going to select good players. But just know this about the New York Jets, five out of their last six number one picks have been traded away or cut. That does not bode well for them, not only selecting a player that's going to play up to Jamal Adam's talent level, but the ability to retain and develop those kind of players so my age and always tells me that company's decided to get rid of employees, guys like me. A year, 22 before they tell me So Aaron Rodgers comes out yesterday on a podcast and he said, Listen, they moved up in the first round to get a quarterback. I'm not stupid. My career is not ending here. You've been in meetings with general managers. When the Packers moved up in the first round to get Jordan love were they essentially saying Listen, It's it's two years and Erin's gone because Erin's the last quarterback that was drafted in the first round that didn't play for two years. So what are they saying? Erin? Another. They are seeing their color. And I think this is smart by the Green Bay Packers front ofthe decided to move on from a Rod's, but we all talk about the quarterback position being the most important position in football yet we won't gas to wait until they have a need for quarterback before they go get one by getting Jordan Loney now they give them they give themselves an opportunity to really develop him to see if he has The chops to be able to do it, but also keep this in month, 33% of the starting quarterbacks in the Super Bowl, says 2011 have been gods play on the original rookie contract Jordan Love would give the pack is the opportunity to take advantage of having a quarterback a starting quarterback on a cheap Ricky deal that enables you to build up the pieces around the quarterback. The defense, the playmakers, the running game, all of those things, it is something to consider. Have a hold won the Super Bowl on his original rookie contract. We're seeing more teams trying to build the championship team during that window with a quarterback not making significant money well by the way air and would have a market the rate I could tell you right now, the Raiders would make a bid tomorrow. If he was on the market that did, the Bears would make a bid. Tomorrow. He's gonna have a market of air. Even in the next 2 38 years old. He's gonna have a market. Let me throw this out there, so I I'm not. I don't believe in tanking in the NFL. I do think there are times teams reboot. I think Miami last year with Brian Flores. Brian knew didn't matter if they went on 16. He wasn't getting fired. Brian got rid of some nice players that were expensive to get draft picks. Step back to take two steps forward and create clarity and a vision through his eyes. I don't know what's going on in New England, but I think it's really weird that they didn't really care to get a backup. I mean, Cam wasn't a plan. Otherwise, they wouldn't let every other team have a shot at him. They weren't aggressive in free agency that let good players marginally expensive going up the whole damn teams opting out. I don't know what's going on in New England. But how do you explain Six guys opting out? No England suddenly Nothing. Six guys opting out like that had more to do with family situations. Your players who had newborns or babies on the way, and they want to make sure that they took here, their family situations and the like..

I had the lead in every one of them on this Philippe. To have the opportunity to come back like this. It is. Probably the one of the biggest ones I've ever had for sure. Because of. So that surgeon that has stayed relatively anonymous. There's no feature on him yesterday. There was no talk about him that guy performed a miracle on his back. That's what doctors do every single day. Don't they? Yeah. They perform miracles so good for this guy found a way to get it done keep him viable and being able to play on the PGA tour. I thought Jason day was going to need it Thursday. Yeah. He picked up his daughter. And then went oh, God my back. Yeah. And ended up eleven under par yet Levin under but I met days played. Well, also he did on the day that it looked like he was going to even be able to make second. The fourth hall. I may have to withdraw right back again. Something eleven underplayed. Well that day crazy that good for him. I mean, I I looked at him. And I watched him. I like thank God, I didn't have Jason day. But that's just sit. You can do the same thing. A million times you do with the million and first time, then all of a sudden that that's the day. You're gonna go there, and it's muscular little tweak. Then all of a sudden the muscle spasms up to protect everything. And there you go. Now, you gotta find a way to get it loose. That's when pharmaceuticals help bigtime nice little flex role a much actual help take care of that just kind of qui- doctor bag. No. I'm just familiar with all these because at some point in my life. I did take them. Did you now you're bag now? No when you played I didn't have a doc. No, no. You weren't like the dispensary guys to listen to kids. Well, chronicle of what I did with vicodin spec in the day. You know, the story. I don't have to repeat it. Right. I ended up giving him the farve LeRoy Butler. Edgar Bennett, Sean Jones. And what you know, what when you find you acquire you distribute. That's the way it works serve. You got make sure all the guys are taking care of. But that's when the NFL started a mesh say they stopped handing out Viking like they were candy. So you could get as many as you want for that you can get it. She's in before that if you needed him you got him. That's just that. That's the way it was nobody cared. Then they realized over the course that they were handing out narcotics. Without a doctor's prescription that became a problem with the DA drug enforcement agency, they came in and did an audit of everybody's inventory because you need to keep an inventory of narcotics. What you have what you've distributed. How much has been distributed with a doctor's prescription? And there was disparity around the league that the DA stepped in and crack down on it. And I mean, literally, you couldn't even get Advil east have Advil set now, but when guys are taking too many Advil in your member guy can easily whose kidneys went down a lot Alonzo Mourning all those guys had kidney issues because they were taking too many Advil. You know, it's a however many or gain it is maybe it was the second play the game. And when that happens to get re as a player, you're like man or coach is dialed in and we're gonna win this thing. Right. Yep. No. And I it's funny because you know Brady and are an interesting segue off that. Yeah. Because I feel like they're kind of playing at a different level. They're just they're they're somebody told me this one. About the NBA. They said there's a lot of guys that play. There's not a lot of guys that lead or think when they're playing Steph. Curry is a great example that Steph is thinking the game and play some guys just play same in the NFL talk about Brady and adamant in that relationship. Well, I think the thing about them is they see the game the same way. And so when they see leverage and they see defenders they both read the same thing. They're so in tune with one another, and that's why you constantly see Eshelman motioning from outside to inside right one. We need to get him stacked. And we need to get him free. Release at all times, we don't we can't let people jam him up. Yeah. So he's going to go. They're going to basically run what we call option routes choice routes, right? We're going to run everybody else off. And we're say adamant you read it with Tom Brady, and basically wherever the leverages run away from it. So if all the sudden, you're running a shallow cross and the guy jumps underneath you hoop. Take. Into a whip route and take it to the outside. And so they read the same thing as suze see that defenders position that leverage pan..

And also knocked on my window. And I was like, yeah. What do you? What's? Basically gave me a ticket yoursel joys over here flying around through America's got a bunch of speeding tickets. Well, yeah. Well, let me ask you this. So you played with John Elway in a Super Bowl shore and to two tons of times. But one of them it was the lowest quarterback rating ever for a Super Bowl. Elway have a winning for winning Gordon Bill. Yes. By John's definition, a stinker d remember the game. Sure. Absolutely. Both thirty two what happened John struggle. Well, I mean one was the Green Bay Packers. And Reggie White. Reggie will all that. But it was one of those situations where we had gone into that game plan. Saying listen the way were designing this game plan. It's not dependent upon you. Like it's going to be Terrell Davis is and the Russian games. That's what's going to win. These guys came into the game knowing John didn't f carrier absolutely one hundred percent. You know, it's it's amazing when you game plan. This is what these coaches have done. That were in the Super Bowl, Sean McVeigh Bill Belichick when you game plan your your game. And you tell your players I think this will what actually makes these two teams alike going into this thing is they don't only tell the players like here are the place. We're going to run. But this is how we're going to run them. How we're going to execute them. This is why we do it this way. And here is how it's going to win us a football game. So when you talk to their players, they have more depth of knowledge football wise than the average player because there is this open dialogue about coaching about teaching is not there's a lot of coaches, it will say this how we do this. And you say why is it because we've always done it that way I've had bonds like that. Sure. And so there's there's a there's an exchange of knowledge between these two teams. That's why you saw him here in a Super Bowl. Now. The game didn't go very well for the Rams we understand that. But but that's what separates them so Super Bowl. Thirty two Mike Shanahan came up with a game plan on. How we were going to run the ball against the Green Bay Packers, which nobody had been able to do and essentially long story short. We exchanged outside linebacker became the safety and the safety LeRoy Butler who made every play in the running game. He became the the weakside linebacker, and we ate them up. And it was so funny because he was like this is what's going to happen. Here's how we're going to change the blocking assignments Eddie McCaffrey, you're gonna be a lot you're gonna go get him..

This came out about an hour and a half ago. And. This is going down and unfortunate path for a former member of the Green Bay Packers. Once again Leroux Butler is becoming the new Jerry Kramer, have you realized this Ashton. Leroy, Butler was the safety of the nineties. I mean, he was on the all decade team. His name is their low ROY Butler. Was he as big of a name has guys like John Lynch Steve atwater think about safeties in years past maybe not? But he was every bit in probably more the player than either one of those guys. In fact, you could argue that the whaler ROY Butler played the safety position model the way you see it played in today's NFL. He did it at the line of scrimmage. He did it in the secondary. He was a do it all safety, and he changed the position. So the fifteen finalists for the pro football hall of fame induction class were announced today, and as I look through it. Leroy Butler who was a semi-finalist is not listed on the finalist list. Neither is clay Matthews senior. I must be honest here. I was surprised that he wasn't already in the hall of fame. That's how good of a career. He had. But the fifteen finalists for the pro football hall of fame. Our Tony Gonzalez Isaac Bruce Edgerrin James, Ed Reed. He was a former safety Steve atwater. Former safety chant Bailey Tylar, John Lynch, former safety. Tony Boselli, Kevin Milwaukee Ellen Fanta Steve Hutchinson. Richard seymour. Don coryell in Tom Flores. Nola, ROY Butler. He is becoming Jerry Kramer. Jerry Kramer, was a member of an all decade team finally realized his hall of fame dreams of about a year ago. But once again, the guy who changed the position is going to be on the outside of the hall of fame looking in. So do we need to do this? There's more than just go into the conversation. But go ahead. If you look at Steve atwater career look at John Lynch's career, look at the ROY Butler's career. How do they become finalists in Butler does not it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me and read was remarkable that dude was incredible? And he belongs in the hall of fame. But I think LeRoy Butler does he changed the position? And to me that's kind of what it's all about. I mean, how good you were. Yes. In stats can tell some of that story. But how teams had to account for you how they had schemed against you. How they had to figure out where you were going to be on the field. And how did that player change the position? I don't think Butler gets enough credit for. Changing the way the safety position was played at the time. He did it. This is pre Ashton right business early asked life. The inventor of the Lambeau leap was Laura Butler. He's on the outside looking in. He doesn't deserve to be. And not even a finalist, and it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Yes. Roy we are on your side. The fifteen finalists thing has always been strange. If you're gonna make it fifteen what's really stopping you from going twenty. And and getting in the guy swore the fringe like what's with Lori Butler. Like what's the fridge here? He's been on the fringe for for what five six years now. And right right there. What is what are we missing is safety is not a position that is? I don't know not a ton of safeties in the hall of fame. There just aren't. But there are three on this list of fifteen on the fifteen finalists list. He changed the way the game was played at that position. And he's not being recognized. Maybe it was a little overshadowed by Reggie White and Brett farve on those teams. But that Packers defense that was at a time where for as good and as entertaining as Brett farve was you wanted to see the Packers on defense. You wanted to see Reggie White. You wanted to see LeRoy Butler, Sean Jones that whole group. I mean, they were fierce. They were. So good. But still on the outside looking at. Unfortunately is Laurie Butler who else is gonna go in with Packers ties. Charles woodson. Right. That's on the horizon Charles will get in split his time with the raiders in the Packers. Might be a while before you see another player with Packers ties go into the hall of fame. Julius peppers, I suppose, but he's still playing. It's going to be a five year waiting period after that. How is that happening by the way house? He's still playing is he he's like forty five by now, or at least, right? He was good when he was in Green Bay when they gave up on them with ten Thompson said, no. Yeah. I don't know. But he would be one. You start. It starts to get a little thin, right? Unless you want to go into the way back, but sheen and just pull it out that the seniors committee would have to vote on. But yeah, I absolutely think Laurie about belongs in the hall of fame. I hope it does not get to that Jerry Kramer level. Where twenty thirty forty years. We're still talking about it. But as I look at this list. You can't tell me the Butler does not belong in that conversation. In on the early conversations does not so much the finalist list. We've got Paulin Waukesha joining us on WTMJ. Hi, paul. Hi, guys. You're right on regarding Butler. I mean, all is done and. I think that there must be a bias against the Packers in the NFL, you know, given Jerry Kramer. And I think the fact that the Packers have what number two all time in the hall of fame. You know, I I can't help. But think that there's something going on there? I don't know. And there was some discussion with with Jerry, Kramer, Paul that, you know, boy, another Lombardi era Packer, you can't do this. And it's just too many. And somehow that was an excuse to keep Jerry Kramer on the outside. And then the books Jerry Kramer wrote. I'm not sure how well that went over with some voters, but with Bullard. I feel it gets that argument shouldn't hold weight. Right. And it sounds like you agree with me on it. I know safety is not a position that we need to see a ton of them in the pro football hall of fame. But the names I'm looking at here the other finalists. Roy pave the way for how those guys played in their NFL careers and the quality of the guy, and I think another factor is Lambeau leap. You know, doesn't go over well around the league. Well, it's a slice of Americana. Isn't it should? No. No, no. And I think that kinda ties together with the Butler thing. And there's election process. You know what? I mean, these guys are individuals. And with their personalities and biases, and I can't help that that seems to be a logical connection. Yeah. Call paul. Thank you. Gets it. Talking about this a decade from now, I really don't he deserves. It absolutely deserves. It what is going on in Pittsburgh, by the way. With Antonio Brown and the Steelers there was some thought that, hey, if Mike Tomlin gets let go by the Steelers, call Mark Murphy should make it Mike Tomlin in Green Bay. We'll tell me who's running the asylum out there. If you're not up to speed on this one. It's bizarre will explain after this gene Miller here, and I believe in giving back to the.
