That you show voter. Id okay which most people in both parties actually favor will. You can't favor that i've absolutely favorite. How's that possible. You're crying your eyes out about having to show an idea to buy ammo that lots of a right. That's my point if you have to show no no. You're crying your eyes out about having a which. I don't even understand the other day you were saying i've basically had my constitution pooped upon because i have to show my. Id to buy and you can still buy it. They didn't stop you from that. But just showing your. Id was what your objection was. So why would you insist on showing your id for other things. Because if i don't have to show it to vote. I shouldn't have to show it to buy ammo. That you just say you want people to show their. Id which does not make sense with your insisting on not showing your id because it steals your constitutional rights. I'm pointing out the double standard. Don't try to retroactively. Reverse logic yourself asshole state. Wait wait wait. You're not gonna get off track on this. Young and athletic and condense dance at the judges might have been a little tough on you and how'd you maybe to a different standard? You know what? I think the judges might be a little bit more tough on me, which is fine. I take whatever the judges have to say you know, of course into consideration apply that to the next week. ON The Frontlines Of The Youth Climate Strikes
"This week we go to the frontlines of the youth climate strike movement. There are hundreds of protests going on all around the world today as young people, school children from Australia to Iceland come together to protest about what they're calling the crisis of their lifetime climate change. Of course, what they see is politicians inability or unwillingness to do anything about it to the global protests that is underway right now, students and workers all around the world of flooding the streets demanding action on climate change, Maggie, Rulli that a demonstration in London with the latest Michael with thousands of protesters, right underneath parliament, and what's so striking besides just the sheer size of protesters here are. The age of people who are demonstrating almost all of them are students that's hiding just nine years old. We spoke to a group of seventeen year olds who said they're here today to fight for their future. Now, the goal of this strike, really all these strikes around the world it's a send a clear message to world leaders ahead of the UN climate summit happening this week in New York climate change protests happening right now in lower Manhattan this is video from chopper four showing the massive crowd marching from Foley Square the courthouses down to the battery among the people flooding city streets were students who were allowed to skip class today to join this 'cause. I told with Jerome Foster. who had seven sounded watching documentaries about our planet go activated and started climate blogging creating virtual reality platforms social justice. He's now eighteen has been climate striking for eighty one weeks in front of the white. House. He founded one million of us to get youth to vote this November Jerome is one of eleven million people from over one hundred and forty countries the climate striking and skipping school to tell us we need to act now. I stopped by asking Jerome where he is now. I'm visiting New York City I just moved here for college, but I was born and raised in Washington DC. I'm going to college at Peace University and Columbia Columbia basically majoring in computer science specializing artificial intelligence. are distance-learning others are like mixed waken coming class in? Their dorm near the off his classes, some of them, most of my classes right now are digital. Have One. Now. So tell me about growing up in DC and kind of what led you to get into the place where you founded the organization one, million US. So where I grew up in Washington DC right around like places. And forests and those like a huge place for me to explore my neighborhood. So I kinda grew up getting in touch with nature and after years of like understanding what nature wasn't had really appreciate it. I started watching documented by astrophysics and learning about like what are world's about like what a black holes water were imposed all these cool late science things, and after that, I started watching documentaries about my own planet and how our planet fit into. Astrophysics. into the rest of the world that every time they talk about something else beautiful it's like but humans are burning it down and but. Are Continuing to extract coal and an oil and natural gas to power earth than is going to continue to see species go extinct and like that was kind of a wake up call for me understanding that our earth is actually has like trouble going on but still being like six or seven years old was like. This isn't that big of an issue. Adults are GonNa fix this adults definitely going to step up and take action but Learning later on like it didn't happen. That's that's not the story as the navy faded it. kind of grew into another understanding that like if the corruption is the unwillingness to have moral clarity won't stand up to corporations and that they don't have the political leadership to acting say, we need to hold you accountable and like as older I was like, how can I get into? Really. Getting their attention actually taking action when my friends kind of toby lunch table they're like, Hey, you should start into pitch. Okay. Cool. So like for sixth seventh and Eighth Grade I posted every single day. and. Like facts and got to like and I was like I got to convince that climate change because back then like global warming is a hoax and everyone believed that that was the big struggle and like today it's not that same conversation. It's about how do we take action but back then it was all about is it real? And I did that for six eighth grade in ninth grade I trying to transition. To. More technology and building I reality environments. So I mean when you say like it's ten years, it has been view like if he started when you seven that. Yeah. I started virtuality company called Vr, and basically it was the idea that like we can use virtuality. Gaming Place, but actually civic engagement accident building empathy only a few people will be able to see it because it's so expensive to create and it's so hard. Tribute it out. So I, kind of transition into. into journalism and it was because I started watching my documentaries again. It was Leonardo DiCaprio's before the flood and like in the last five minutes he said we need commentators then covered as if it's a lot we need young people we need people to come out here and start talking about time change in a new way. So I was like I can do that. There's like I'm I'm I'm with around blood so like two hours. Later I I email my English teacher in accurate a blog called the climb reporter and one hundred, sixty, five articles like eight months and determine about climate change from east perspective sounds like we need young people in this movement because our future is directly at stake people will say their children's children but we're the Stojan. At this point we waited fifty years to take action. Our Future. Now,

The Aquaman actress at his misheard revealed that the very jealous act or That would be Mr Depp. Considered nearly all of her male co stars as a sexual threat. Little would have been there with you. Kevin Costner.
Hollywood's Black List
"Every year, fifty thousand movie scripts Tele plays other pieces of writer Lee stuff get registered with the Writers Guild of America fifty thousand most of which sucks, but a handful of which will become the movies that change our lives today on the show how a math! Loving movie nerd used a spreadsheet and an anonymous hotmail address to solve one of Hollywood's most fundamental problems, picking winners from a sea of garbage, and he may just have reinvented the power structure of Hollywood along the way. It's two thousand and five Franklin Leonard a junior executive at Leonardo. DiCaprio's production company which sounds glamorous, but arguably he is a glorified script reader. WHO's boss's boss? Is Leonardo DiCaprio. Franklin's job is to help that boss. Find The next great movie for Leo, which means he is constantly reading movie scripts. Every junior executive lives in constant fear of the trade story that breaks about some exciting new script that they didn't know about that. Their bosses like. Like why didn't you know about this? Franklin is supposed to know about everything which is tough because there's this famous old saying in Hollywood. Nobody knows anything as in. It's really hard to know what movies are going to work. So if you do find something any piece of information that can help you gauge. What might work that information? Franklin is learning. That is Hollywood gold one of the things that drilled into your head. Is that information? Information is the most valuable thing. Yeah, and that information is to be protected and kept in house and exploitation of that information is how we in power and leverage like what little information you can manage, and then if it's kind of good, put up a wall as quickly as possible. That's exactly right. Movie scripts are a kind of information like the fundamental piece of information for a movie, and so Franklin's job is go out into the world. World and find undiscovered scripts before anybody else finding those scripts, though amongst the thousands and thousands being written every year it's a bit like walking into like the largest bookstore in the world, and every book has the exact same color. There's no cover art. There's no like publishers weekly. There's no reviews available to you, but your job is to walk into that sort of hyper anonymous bookstore and come out with the best books available That seems impossible. And Franklin says you can see how a problem emerges quickly in Hollywood people deal with this overwhelming amount of information by assuming they should reach for the same shelves of that anonymous bookstores they always do. They assume they should make the same kinds of movies written by the same kinds of people starring the same kinds of people. Yes, we are generally talking about white men people you soon because this has been the case for you thus far that are white writer who went to Dartmouth is better than a black writer who went to? To Clark Atlanta or Spelman, the conventional wisdom that you assume as wisdom is more often than not convention, and that is especially true in Hollywood where the convention has been created by people who are in no way, shape or form representative of the audience and consumer that they are trying to sell to Franklin. decided it was going to be part of his job. Try and find scripts outside of the conventions, well of course, also keeping an eye open for the next conventional blockbuster, which yeah was gonNA mean lots more reading the normal. Look. I've always been bit of a grind. My Competitive Advantage was my capacity to work, and so every weekend I would take home a banker's box full of scripts, but literally twenty five thirty screenplays, and try to read them all every Saturday afternoon. There is Franklin sitting on his couch. It is black sweatpants flipping through page after page after page hoping he's about to read a life changing story imagine if Christmas was every Saturday, but every Saturday. You ran downstairs and opened the box that you're most excited about, and it was socks. Because there is the possibility of getting everything that you ever wanted yeah. But there is the probability that it's. Socks most Saturdays and Sundays go like this Franklin tears into his Christmas scripts seven hours later. Frankland sitting in a pile of socks and the worst thing is when he goes into the office on Monday. His boss says you read anything good. And Franklin has to say no. It was as if he didn't do any work that weekend. Because most scripts are so bad, the Franklin would be in trouble for recommending them, and even if he is lucky enough to find a scripted, he loves he's really got to think about whether. Whether it is the right kind of thing for Leo's company like there was a script going around that year about a guy dealing with his interpersonal trauma by buying and dating a sex doll. It's easy to imagine reading that in saying Oh this is a really well observed human story, but imagine going into your boss's office and saying you should read this and when they ask you what it's about saying. This is what it's about Leonardo DiCaprio. I think you should play this role where you date of a doll like that's. That's a tough sell for the most confident among us. Franklin's breaking point came late one night. Do you remember his? He was in the office. It was dark outside, and he was supposed to go on vacation, and he just kept thinking about how he was inevitably going to end up drowning in bad scripts on vacation, and all of that work would generate nothing of actual value for his job and I remember, looking up and thinking. I. Don't know that this is sustainable and I need to come up with a solution. How is there not a better system for finding good screenplays? If you do the Friends of friends method, you end up with the Friends of friends scripts, and if you try this brute force thing, you're going to ruin your weekends, Andrew Vacation, plus you would need fifty more Franklin's to see all of the script anyway. And that's when it dawns on Franklin. There are more than fifty Franklin's in Hollywood got on. My desktop fired up my calendar and went through and looked at every single person who had a job similar to mine. Who I had had breakfast lunch, dinner or drinks with. If you had eavesdropped on those breakfasts and drinks, Franklin says you would have heard the junior executives ask each other this same question. Have you read anything good lately? Yes, these junior. Our competitors and yes, information is power and companies would probably not be jazzed about them sharing that information, but you know these are low level producers. They're doing each other favors, and it's all off the record anyway. Who is going to know about this and so Franklin figures? Let's see if anyone's read anything good lately. He opens up an email and he BBC's about seventy. Five of his fellow junior exacts, and so know hey. Similar of your ten favorite scripts in exchange I will send you the combined. Responses back. Did you say who you were like? I am a I am a mysterious junior executive. Say anything else, I do not believe that I did. I created an anonymous hotmail address. I believe it was blacklist. Two thousand five at Hotmail DOT com, he called it the blacklist partly to honor the blacklisted writers during the McCarthy era, and partly because he always hated the idea that the word black gets used to mean bad, so this blacklist was going to mean great screenplays. People would respond, but surprisingly responses started coming back. Maybe these other junior executives felt as stuck as Franklin. Maybe it was just this information bargain was was a good deal. I sure transcripts I get a whole list back there around ninety responses and every time somebody mentioned the same script Franklin treated that like a vote for that script, and he starts logging all of this into spreadsheet. Twenty five people voted for things. We lost in the fire by Allan Loeb Twenty. Four people mentioned Juno by cody. Fifteen votes Larson the real girl by Nancy Oliver Fourteen votes, Lars and the real girl that is the script about the guy and the sex. If, you were a junior executive. Thinking this is good, but is this good? I'm not important enough to risk bringing this to my boss. The blacklist was a way of saying you were right. It was good and here is a number. Instead of just your instincts fourteen votes, only living boy in New, York, by Allan, Loeb Charlie Wilson's war by earned Sorkin, Fan Burke and by the way a big deal in two thousand five. This wasn't just about finding undiscovered writers. It was any script that was great and not made. In a script called peacock by riders named Michael Lender and Ryan Roy the top ten of the very first blacklist thubten of the very first blacklist. Point the blacklist was just a spreadsheet that only Franklin could see, and he's about to send it back to all those other junior executives who contributed and he looks at it for a moment all of this normally off the record insider Hollywood Intel now written in a single place. He takes a deep breath. And he hit send. And then he packs up and heads off for vacation in Mexico and about a weekend vacation I went to the hotel of business center to check my email on like the public computer. And this lists have been forwarded back to me several dozen times. and everyone's like Oh my word of this team. Come from a lot of descriptions of sister. Good. Where where did this come from? What's your? What's your thought? It was terrifying. My thought is is that my career in Hollywood has a clock on it and the doomsday clock has just sped up. This anonymous list of the best unmade screenplays was blowing up. It had gone way beyond the small circle. It was initially sent to it even ended up covered the industry press, and so Franklin kept his down. He stayed anonymous and one day. He gets this call from an agent. Saying that his client has written this amazing script. It's perfect for Leo. It's like the usual call, except then the agent says hey. Don't tell anybody, but I have it on good authority that this ripped is going to be the number one script on next year's blacklist. I immediately thought to myself. That's interesting because I made the blacklist and I'm not making another one because I. DON'T WANNA get run out of town on rails. But I'm fascinated that you think that the speculative notion of your client scripting on the list is a sales tool for you. That must mean that this list that I created has

Apple and Paramount to make a deal for Martin Scorseses next movie
"I'm Kim Masters and this is the Hollywood breakdown joining me as Melanie and Matt. The streaming wars as you know as many people who are listeners know are underway. Hbo Max Coming out onto the field of play this week. A lot of people finding it a little including me a little tricky to figure out how to get that even though as a spectrum customer I should be able to access it but it doesn't show up on my TV. Because I have Roku so it's some people can't find it. Some people like it but we are seeing apple seeming to up its game with some big high profile deals. They are spending money. It's a little reminiscent in some ways of the Netflix strategy. Where we seen them angling for high profile expensive awards movies awards prestige movies apple is now throwing. Its hat into that ring. You know backed by the might the economic might that wealth of Apple. Yeah and this is a big project. Martin Scorsese Film. Sources are saying it's between one seventy five two hundred million dollars depending on who you believe probably will go much higher than that given scores as he's track record. It's got Leonardo DiCaprio. It's called killers of the flower moon. And this is a really really interesting play for Apple. Because you saw Netflix's get a lot of attention for the Irishman last year. Whether it was good or bad you can debate that. But it got them into the Oscar conversation in a meaningful way. They didn't walk away with best picture but they were in the game and apple will likely be in the awards game when this movie eventually comes out. What's interesting here? Is the deal structure. You've done some reporting on that because it was originally paramount. Paramount got cold feet and it ended up at apple after a bidding war. After you know it was shopped around town and this is essentially. What I think is going to happen with a lot of movies. Going forward where they get developed at the studios than the price inches up inches up inches up studios where once upon a time they might have taken a risk on a big movie from a big director are now going to get cold. Feet and income streamers just clarify something about that. Paramount is not out of this game. Scorsese has his deal there and they did release them to shop this around but they own the property the underlying novel and this is a very dark period piece set in Oklahoma in the nineteen twenties. Leo DiCaprio originally was supposed to play a good guy. Paramount was really interested in that version. Then he changed it so that he was playing a kind of a villain character and I am told that paramount felt this is now a less commercial movie with the same budget which point they did say go ahead and shop at around and there was a really long pause and apple did step up but it is still a question of a deal with paramount because it is expected that paramount will at least get some sort of a percentage at pop probably released the film in theaters. Which is what. Scorsese did not get with the Irishman with net flicks so having explained all that. Let me say I would pay money? Actually to see tensor Endo's at Netflix's sit down and explain to me. The cost benefit analysis of having spent which I think was certainly over two hundred billion dollars on the Irishman. Yes they got nominated no they. Didn't you know we? They have all the data. How many people sat through it. Did anybody subscribed because of it. It's a black box for people like us but this is this is something that apple is now saying. We're in it. We're in it in a way that will make Scorsese happy with theatrical release and ironically make paramount happy because paramount will have its name on this movie and we'll probably get a good chunk of some kind of a piece of whatever box office it generates win it can get made because we're all stuck now waiting for protocols and an insurance policies to make filming possible so we will see. I will note. This isn't the only movie they bought. They bought Tom. Hanks's movie Greyhound from Sony for supposedly around seventy million. That movie was done studios will sell as you suggest Matt with movies. That you to bring in cash right now I would say many cases. It is not a great vote of confidence. When you see these deals made in the movie itself but it will be high profile. It is Tom Hanks and for Apple. They obviously decided it was worth
Martin Scorsese And Leonard DiCaprio's Next Movie Is Going To Streaming
"Apple is going to have a new movie directed by Martin Scorsese starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert deniro these are big names yeah the name of the film killers of the flower moon okay yeah so it's apple's biggest a foray into the film industry all of the streaming services are just hammering the theaters and the big movie companies now they are they're going after the big stars the big directors good screenplays yeah can you imagine the checks they had to cut to get those three and they can cut on apple there's a lot of air masses yeah like in one day they make
Apple To Team With Paramount On Scorsese-DiCaprio-De Niro Drama 'Killers Of The Flower Moon'
"Of an Irishman sized GATT for Apple. Tv PLUS DEADLINE. Says it's heard that apple has won the bidding war killers of the flower moon. The film adaptation of the book set to be directed by Martin. Scorsese starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Deniro according to deadline the deal which calls for Apple. The finance and become creative studio gives the movie a hybrid situation and the best of both worlds. The film will get a wide theatrical release through paramount before it becomes the biggest film title so far on Apple's streaming service the actual release I dig the optimism.

The Only 3 Ways You Can Differentiate and Compete
"I WANNA start by saying that I've come up with these. Three ways is just through my own experiences in business. Our Business Webinar Jar. Webinar software competes in a very busy market with some big players competitors veterans like zoom and go to Webinar have literally millions of users. How do I get a slice of that Pie? This is a question I had to force myself to ask. And it really just boils boils down to three ways a differentiation. Let's start with the first one and that's Nishi down. Whatever your product? Whatever your service you can serve lots of different markets but if you focus on one market on one group of people you become their choice because you've built a product of service and experience around their needs simple? You want to start a software business that helps go build their websites like like a website builder instead of building a website builder for anybody who needs a website. Let's say you focus on photographers and videography hours and your Website builders really cater to that market. These customers have unique needs and the certain things. They don't need that they don't WanNa be confused by so he become the website builder for photographers. Viagra offers all the videography in photographers. That are using something else can move over to you because you serve them directly. Let me give you another author example. A real world example CANVAS CANVAS DOT COM is a cloud based graphic design tool. It's incredibly popular. But it's a niche product. Product is canvas more powerful in feature rich than Adobe Photoshop Note. It's not it's a fraction of what photoshop can do but not everybody. It needs photoshop professional graphic designers. They need photoshop. And they're gonNA use Adobe Photoshop and they're a ideal customer for adobe before before people that are just trying to print a flyer for their book club or for Garage Sale. They don't need photoshop. They need something simple. Easy to use with limited limited features. So they don't get confused and this is where canvas comes in. Canada actually provides a product that's limited and they kind of force their market by saying. Hey we're for people that are trying to just easily design something in a few minutes without a graphic design degree this means they are excluding the professionals bunching down. They speak directly to people that they serve that their product release four so the first way of differentiating is initiating to a group of people in your larger marketplace. The segue differentiate is implementation. And I believe this is the most powerful way differentiate. It's what makes the biggest difference. The most popular example of this is facebook okay. FACEBOOK is not the first social media platform there was my space friendster but facebook implemented it in a way that made it easier. The concept is the same but their implementation was different and therefore they were easily able to differentiate themselves and stand out. There was a period of time where friendster and my space had more features. So it's not about feature sets but but it's more like hey they figured out a way to make social media work and the implement of the I did differently. Here's another real world example in the automobile industry before four. Tesla if you were conscious of the environment and you're a green customer you would buy at Iota Prius to Yoda's implementation to serve. This customer was to create a hybrid vehicle to compact car. It's not really a performance driven. It's not very fast as not really great to handle. It's not a great drive is not luxuriance but it was a symbol. If you drove that car it was a statement. I care about the environment. That's why Leonardo DiCaprio drove Prius until Tesla came around and Tessa Tesla said. Hey we want to serve this market. The people that care about the environment that want to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. But we don't want to sacrifice style or speed or comfort or luxury. We're going to implement this idea differently. It's GonNa be a little bit more expensive but we believe people are going to buy it and enjoy our implementation of this idea. More more than Toyota and history speaks for itself. Leonardo di caprio drives Tesla now. But the point here is that they decided to implement this idea differently with your product. Doc with your service how you implementing your solution differently in a way that adds value with us with women are Ninja. There's a lot of different webinars offers. There was a different ways that you can create you know meetings and do mastermind calls. There's so many ways you could do this. Coaching calls why US while our implementation tation is quite different from everybody else. We actually really focus on ease of use a great experience in terms of building the Webinar an incredible quality. So this is how we want to really implement this idea. We understand if our users find easy to use. They're going to continue to use is it and they're gonNA use it more often and therefore they'll be long-term customers so we're attracting people that say. Hey I love doing webinars but I don't want another headache right. We actually have a testimony L. A. quote a message came from one of our users said I love with an tried other platforms but I said No. Because they're overly complicated. I need a Webinar service. Not another headache. And that's exactly who we attract all right number three. The Third Way to friendship is service. This is a game changer. When when you understand this you understand this is really a way for you to Propel Your Business your competition can copy you? They can copy your features then copier pricing model hectic and copier sales copy. And even your branding but the one thing they can't copy is your service how you treat your customers before before during and after the sale the customer service experience the whole experience of being customer the emails you send now the chats you have the live webinars. You do all that kind of stuff. That interaction you have with your audience with your customer makes the difference. Okay this is something that we tripled down on on an ARP business for the last three years and it's paid off and now when we look at our customer surveys. The number one reason why people love women are inches because one. It's easy to use to who the customer service if you're a small business. This is a great way for you to get a leg up on the bigger businesses larger companies. It's hard to regularly great service. They have large customer service teams and sometimes things become impersonal. But if you're a small team in your managing tickets yourself or you have a small team running customer service you could still train them and be very friendly and very very personal and helpful and be available in human. Our biggest challenges oranges as we grow the business. How do we maintain that to make sure our customer service never suffers because it's one of our biggest differentiator so you could differentiate with the your service the way you treat your customers throughout the buying journey pass Their purchase when they buy the next product with the Knicks Service. So the next you you know a thing that you offer them so they have niche implementation service. Those are the three
Brad Pitt Finally Wins An Acting Oscar - Hollywood
"And another Oscar for Brad Pitt and Oscar furrow Toy Story movie the Academy Awards going on right now in Los Angeles Brad Pitt one for his stunt actor character in the Quentin Tarantino movie once upon a time in Hollywood or as Leonardo DiCaprio's character described his character you can do anything you want to build the dolphin build right lot of on fire with a blanket right get creative do what everyone is happy for the opportunity ABC's Jason Nathanson backstage at the Oscars the first couple of awards have been given out best Supporting Actor not a surprise going to Brad Pitt for once upon a time in Hollywood he's been winning all season in his speech is so far been funny not tonight he got political addressing the impeachment of president trump saying I've only forty five seconds up here which is forty five seconds more than they gave John

"One. I liked it because I didn't know I'm not a space guy. In general I entered it cranky cranky. I realize a how well I entered cranking often you in any way or just making you know because I thought well this guy's really gone above even beyond to work out his dad's stuff. I just gotTa make a phone call Dr to New Mexico. There's fucker it gets them. Closer like closure realized that was just really a movie about like I over think I worked out with his old man. Yeah it was. It was so clearly a movie about like I got my dad was ah nothing like to stay home and done a year therapy for calling problem. The one thing I never understood like what what was his ship doing that was causing trouble. Did they even explain that. I'M NOT GONNA explain it to you. Oh you know though. No I can't explain. Ah Sounds like inception for me what happened. I have no idea. You don't do sometimes you. You just just focused on your character man. You know I had no. Actually I do get involved in that but when it came to criminal in his mind and how that was all piece together and everyone was trying to constantly put that puzzle together around. Did anyone ever succeed. I can't remember if it made sense. Ultimately depends on the eye of the beholder. I guess it's producer has a weird question. I gotTa ask You about this movie. Is that he and he told me this he said the only thing I'm hung up on. You gotta ask him. He's a he said he he wanted me to ask you. If your character actually got the part in the great escape was fired. No was that a fantasy. See that you were thinking no it was a fantasy it was it was well. We actually had this whole section that actually couldn't was talking earlier about the fact that he had a four and a half hour cut via and the the movie that you see. I mean this is all from the mind of Quentin Tarantino and there's so many any other sections that I think he had to take out to sort of drive the story along. But there was this great moment with Al Pacino and I spent like three three weeks with Al Pacino Muso and Franks one on one doing a sort of whole history of Rick Dalton's career where I've been here in the state of the movie industry industry the State of our culture. This sort of I could have been. Somebody could have been a contender almost got you know the great escape but I was the third guy on the list had McQueen. Drop down this this. I could have been that guy so we kind of put it in two timothy all funds scene where we start talking about our careers careers. And then there's this kind of flash right of rick. Yeah as that as Wayne Anyhow Rick Dalton would have played the McQueen actual which was the star breaking turn from and it's not legal described as a moment. It's like a ten minute scene and it's fantastic. It makes it. It's the bane of his existences. He's walking around and everyone knows him as the guy almost got the greatest game and he gives this this very sobering soliloquy on it. It was never going to happen and stop calling me then. No when when you get when you enter working on this part I I mean it's the it's the actual heartbreak of show. Business is what you're playing sickly. Yeah and it's not something that you haven't seen before in other people I mean we're surrounded surrounded by all the time that's Rad and I were just talking about and the and the Q.. Innate just now is how you know although we've been incredibly fortunate and have had a sort of long successful career we'd know this world we I'd grown up around actors that almost got this role or almost got that role we knew we knew the dynamic of of these relationships. I mean I've had guys over the years that have been my psych like I said my psychiatrist Security Aguire on location in Africa for eight months right they got your back our days. They're there for you and they really do carry the load so even though Clinton gave us this amazing manuscript on our history detailed from you know the figment of his own right from his imagination. Yeah we implicitly new this dynamic in Hollywood and this sort of relationship with these guys had an I think it was weird like the first day on set we were we just kinda clicked and I keep telling the story but it's true the he I remember we were driving onto onto the Lancer. Lot and Brajesh improvised this line and he goes you know hey realizing our hangover realized have gotten this bad news that my career is essentially over and he it just goes. Hey you're rick fucking doll and as soon as he said that I was like. Oh that's US man no matter what the Hell's going down that's that's my number one fan right there Rick Fuck and Dalton and I'm like Yep go in a disastrous day on set regardless but that's true though because I even notice that when I was a doorman at the comedy store is there. Is this weird kind. People have satellite people that kind of walk around as the extension extension of their ego ego support system. And you see all the time in this town and the and the and then you have this at the center is completely delusional. person person completely believing that they're really thinks they're really doing amazing shit. I was just calling your friendship. The French it with a paycheck in like cliff says ain't got it so bad gonna fix your intended today. But you know he's uh-huh he's not so bad. I mean. That was the thing that I had to like figure out about. Rick Dalton what God what it not only would a pessimist but what a winer he was an and I think that Quinton always had this thing that I didn't quite understand that he's really feeling sorry for himself. You meets the girl girl. The little girl who's like and there was another scene that was cut out about. Hey you know we lucky to do what we do and Rick doesn't realize that he's real. He's all obsessively thinks about is what could have been. He could have been a contender he could have been this guy and the whole industry sucks in the world sucks. He's got them hippies. Yeah when when you went into it how how what were you thinking like. who were you playing like? Did you know the guy. Well he he now. I mean well you told me you got that line from somebody. You said it to Yo this guy when I first started this guy had this guy bitching moaning like in the mid nineties. I had this guy toll free loader you you know like you. You don't always seem walking back and forth wearing my clothes using my dryer. What I mean in eating the food but he was he was there for me Eh? One day he had said that to me. I was bitching moaning. This is like mid nineties. Don't forget your Brad fucking uh-huh.

I don't know if you have that problem where I'll act like an asshole and then and then you you kind of claw your way back into someone's life and hopefully they'll forgive you for it see. I thought you were justified. Yes yes I did I did. I thought you were speaking for all and then you. Then everything's okay. Everything's okay usually until it comes back later. So what can we make. Sure I guess is how we do it. We speak into the MIC. Like is this is. This is incorrect distance. Yeah I think I think this is good You never know who's GonNa fuck up with a Mike Man. Some people can't do it I will. I'm I'm not comfortable comfortable with it or you. Yeah I'm fine. I think we just hold it. Like Mike's Comfortable. There is a big problem with and I am not I'm not being mean but John. TURTURRO talks a lot with his hands. So right right right talion yes so if you listen to that one but but when you have the the comfort of the garage aren't they don't they said aren't they hanging or director on boom. It's when you're on mobile here could make it out to that. Anything could happen. Yeah I know Nice little little little sad so what what just went on there we did a little. QNA with for the for the movie for the old film screening Green Clinton's in there. He's in they're still talking. It's great to do a Clinton because he he does all the heavy lift carries the load. Okay there is no he'll just keep going He will keep going so I guess I don't. It's always hard to figure out where to start talking to dudes two guys but the last time time I saw you as opposed to one. Okay your careers like somehow wrangle England up here but the last time I saw you was at that art basil thing right. There aren't that you know the thing at the art thing because my ex it's my now ex at an example. It's you're so sweet. You're outside like bartering for her. Bring her art lover. Thought it was very sweet. It was I mean I I still have respect for and I love her but I just. I'm out okay. Let me let me ask you this. What would you think for art related? I liked it a lot. I because there's something about abstraction either it's GonNa work it's not I mean you're an abstract guy right you like abstract art. I like I like a lot of art so does so does. That's right. It's going to talk to you about the first time I met. You guys met you. You were hanging out with Thomas House ago. That's right. He's your buddies giant sculptor big sculpture. That's the one so you do you. You both collect art. Yes and your dad was like a comic guy. Yes yes gasp was. We're while he was a a comic book. Distributor around Los Angeles needs to take me in his station. Wagon called the pus mobile. Yeah and we ooh yeah. Why was broken down yellow? Messed up station wagon. We go to golden apple and Heidi Hoe. Basically every weekend of my life was trucking around comic book. Stores and head shops selling Durand Durand posters and the Freak Fabulous Freak brothers and Cherry pop tart. And all these crumbs stuff all are crumbs. My Dad's actually friends with our chrome and Williams. I Know I've interviewed Robert. Oh yeah he's amazing. It's like one of his best friends really so he's kind of Zeal League of the counter hippie culture all the so I grew up going to the Duda parade hand with all these underground artists was to make a little cash. You know what I mean because although you know although my future college funds was a you know a box of underground comic books. That didn't exactly the bills. But that was literally my college fund like every every number one at comic book like even underground comic all none of the Marvel or DC stuff which actually went on a lot of money just the first the original art. The crummy art has really skyrocketed. And do you have that stuff. I do have a couple of couple. Luckily he's finally is the the man from the underground art scene that has like hit the marketplace and actually become right you know and Robert Williams very bitter about it all about I. I collect Robin Williams to that man is grabbed a god great. You will hear nothing but no one no I. I think. That's one of the weird chips on his shoulder. Is that you you know. He never got established art success while he was with Tony. Chef Rasi in New York. I remember La underground arts scene trying to make it to new. York is a very tough the transition right but that's also it seems like those guys get stuck in that kind of like comic art outside our graphic art right trip whereas guys like you like house ago. That's fine art shit right. That's big time if it when it lands that way sure. Yeah and and do you have a couple of those huge pieces I I in fact indeed do what. What kind of art do you gravitate to the most? So I I wouldn't even got elected that don't even say the word collection kind of bothers me makes me go right right right but not find. It is an investment. No no never Just certain things that that move me. I'd like to be around each day and might inspire my kids or something. Yeah I don't look someone Thomas stuff is could scare them as well do you. Are you do sculpture. Anyway I have been on my own. Just just just is like I mean because what we do is such a collaborative sport. Sure I've found that For the better for the worst. Sometimes you know I've seen performances mm-hmm proved enhanced like on this one. Yeah or I've seen them take a take a beating right and to do something that just you and on your own very solitaire find very Meditative well yeah. That's well that's the weird thing I mean because you guys both see what you do as art right. Yeah I hope so have you have you. We're not quite allowed allowed to say that certainly entertainers but are we. Are we allowed to say. I think we can say that all right of course but she can't okay but but it's something you worked towards right. I mean like do you remember your first jobs. Of course God yes it was TV right. Both of us were television television. I mean did that help out in knowing this guy part this part in this movie. LTV World I think for sure I mean. The truth is what was so great about Clinton's script was the sort of outsider approach that he took to the industry to guys at. Were certainly my the character of being on the brink of extinct right as the hippie cultural movement is coming into play. And he's like a remnant of old hat Hollywood Out of Cowboy Television and he hasn't made that transition and as a byproduct cliff my psychiatrists security guard houseman. Yes suffering the consequences of course Roman Polanski moves in next door and that he symbolizes everything that we aren't sure and are trying to be right. Just that approach right away. I think you know we. We've been doing this for a long time. We've been very fortunate to what we do but we remember are those days you remember looking up to all these actors that were doing it and like who come like when you started out like. What was your first TV gigs? I can't remember I did. I did a year one one season of parenthood which is a spin off of the movie. Parenthood Steve Martin Martin and I played Joaquin Phoenix's role in the television version of parenthood. Right so actually studied Joaquin Phoenix's performance and and that to get my first job. Then I do that today exactly and then I did growing pains but she was. I did a whole season of growing pains. He was on a few episodes and I guess start on with rowing pates with handling paints I worked with Hilary Swank on my season by number. And where you guys like at at that point you. Obviously you wanted to be actors. Wanted to be a movie actors but were you studying. Were you doing actively working with people training other than in other than drama class at school no really came out from the ozarks and I needed some I. I need a little bit polishing. I finally got a young say ozarks now because now there's a show people have some idea of what that might be a great idea that show the not so far. This is left out the the Bible belt portion of the and I got my on my I audition and pretty excited about is for film and I came back and this this agent who was trying me. Try me on as they they did. Then I said how do I do and said you ever thought about acting classes for six months you know and who who were who was Who who were you studying with Guy Roy London? He was fantast. This guy's not with anymore. He's really set me. That guy a few people and you just you just started high school. Yeah but then I. After after a while I started setting with Larry Moss. WHO's amazing coach too and that it was do you do you guys use guys now or you're done with it? I talked to Larry all the time I talked to Leo. He talks lyric viewpoint. Viewpoint is kind of questions you ask them now he just pushes the they need them. They he'd he kind of just drives me to make decisions you know like I said I only got into movies because you know I was really lucky that that that television show had me locked in for the season.

"I feel it. Shied away. 'cause when I came out I thought it was going to be like heavily set on that who they get for Mets and Channing Tatum. Right. Yeah. But I I heard that's kinda just setting the. I don't know. It's apparently, they're not gonna focus not the main focus of it. They're focusing on characters that never existed in real life played by Leonardo DiCaprio, he is an actor and goad the stunt double stunt double. Right. And they're really good friends their neighbors show anyone who did the reading. Yeah. I think so. I'm trying to get these goddamn. Forgive losing my mind over these visit. Well, Brad, Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio and Tarantino movie never would have guessed, wait a minute. That sounds familiar Samuel Jackson's play Manson right now. Talk about alternate history. He should get weird with his alternate histories. He did they fucking when I first saw glorious bastards Hitler, the most satisfying thing of all time. That ending. Well, it's good because every tarintino movie, you know, the ending that bunch of people get killed. I'm like, oh the perfect story for him to tell. I didn't think he was like a Hitler. Like, he didn't really die like that. So I was shocked like hell you did. He there's a lot of conspiracies with Hitler. Here's an Argentina before. I washed inglorious bastards. You told me that Hitler doesn't die. And then I watched the movie, and I was like, oh, yes. Because I I don't know why told you that. Probably just to mess with me. Yeah.
